>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a thirty year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

You feel rather sore as you sit up, not to mention exhausted. Once again, you've had some weird surge of power that you couldn't even feel, and drained yourself completely by using it. Hell, you weren't able to keep conscious long enough to see the results of your ultra-powered attack.

Oh, crap.

You look around for your son, spying his prone form splayed out on the ground just within sight. Struggling to so much as stand, you slowly stumble over to Trunks, who doesn't move a muscle or give any signs of consciousness.

Fear seizes you for a moment, until you reach down and feel your son's pulse. He's still alive.

Still, your hit clearly packed a punch. Then again, he didn't give you much choice. What was he thinking in that last battle?

You scoop your son up into your arms and stagger in the direction of the building. Everything still hurts, but you ignore the pain and push on, finding that even in your exhausted state you have more than enough energy to do a simple task such as this.

Upon reaching the building, you find an empty bed and place him in it, tucking him in and letting him get some rest. As he slumbers away, you take a seat and close your eyes, reflecting a bit on your battle with him.

Trunks has skill as a martial artist. You can see that Kori and Konattsu trained him to the best of their ability, which is probably how he managed to survive so long in a world ruled by Doctor Gero. Despite not being as strong as you he held his own rather nicely, and forced you to tap into that odd power to fight off his last attack.

He started the fight well, assessing your fighting style and finding a way around it. He managed to fend off your own attacks for a bit until he was faced with a technique he wasn't familiar with, and even then took the beating you gave like a champ.

But his response, that was a bit concerning. It reminded you a bit too much of a certain redheaded "niece" of yours. He attacked ferociously, and really took things further than a training match should go.

You hope that doesn't become a trend.

Before too much more time passes, your son begins to stir, and you open your eyes, looking to his bed as he begins to sit up, wincing in pain from the action as he surveys the room.

"Dad? You're alright," he says, sounding relieved.

"I'm fine," you promise. "But you got carried away."

Trunks looks away, shame on his face. "I know, and I'm sorry."

"You fought well, in any case," you tell him. "What was that attack you used at the end there?"

Push body to the limits. If Tofoo's history is to be remembered, one too many times he had to fight running only on willpower, so training while worn out and exhausted will help to build up tolerance to going beyond the impossible.

Trunks chuckles. "Yeah, tell me about it."

"So, what happened out there?" you ask.

Trunks looks down again. "I guess I just got so used to Kori's training style, I forgot how most people do it. Let's just say that she never pulled any punches with me, and I was never supposed to hold anything back with her."

"Wait, how hard did you two fight? What was Kori's training like?" you ask.

"In a word, brutal," he answers. "Kori was convinced that Konattsu hadn't toughened me up nearly enough, and that I wouldn't last ten seconds against a real opponent. She told me that I needed to learn to take a hit, and give back twice as much pain as I got. Our first few sessions were basically just her pummeling me so I could build up a pain tolerance, then she started teaching me how to fight without holding back. Every time I pulled a punch with her, she'd hit me three times as hard. When we used to spar, she told me to treat it like I was fighting for my life. So, I got used to treating every fight seriously, even sparring matches."

"And what about Konattsu?" you question. "What was her training like?"

"Konattsu focused on technique and energy control," he explains, looking up at the ceiling. "Her outlook was that proper technique and planning could make up for a difference in strength. We'd spar, meditate, practice techniques. She expected me to work hard and use my head, but she was easier on me than Kori was. She's actually the one that taught me to use the Kuma-Ken."

You should have figured that she'd be able to use that technique.

"So, what were the two of them like as adults?" you ask.

"Konattsu was oddly laid back," Trunks answers. "She took the Androids seriously, but she was able to relax and have fun. She worked hard, but made sure there was time for us to relax. She'd watch movies, play games, read books, and make time for the two of us to talk."

He smiles fondly. "She always treated me like family."

You smile.

"Kori....I don't think she liked me for a while, there," he admits. "She thought Konattsu was wasting time training me instead of taking the fight to the Androids. She didn't think I'd get strong enough to join the fight, so she didn't see the point in training me. She thought it would be best if I stayed with mom and helped the Resistance in less dangerous ways. When she started training me, she thought I wasn't going to last three days. But, after a while, she realized I wasn't going to quit, and seemed to get a higher opinion of me."

He looks across the room. "She was a proud woman. She survived a lot of fights with the Androids, and was always getting stronger. She talked a lot about how she came from a race of warriors, and that because of that, there were no limits to how strong she could get."

He chuckles. "She sometimes joked that between her mom's guts and brains, and her dad's gift for fighting, she hit the genetic lottery. No matter how many times she got beaten, she never seemed to lose any confidence that she'd win one day. Not until Konattsu died."

"That was after Sixteen showed up, right?" you ask.

You see your son's hands clench into fists. "Yeah. When Sixteen first appeared, it caught us off-guard. He'd tracked us to one of our training locations. He came alone, and since we'd never seen him before, we assumed he was one of Gero's Hunters. Kori decided to take him down, but got beaten down hard. Konattsu and I tried to help her, but that didn't make a difference. So, we tried to run, but he was able to keep up with us easily. There didn't seem to be any chance of escape, so Konattsu decided to distract Sixteen while Kori and I got out of there. Of course we tried to argue, but Konattsu could be more stubborn than Kori when she set her mind to something. We fled, and Konattsu gave her life making sure we got away. That changed Kori."

"Changed how?" you ask.

"At first, she'd been sure Konattsu would find a way to get herself out of there, and the three of us would just keep training until we could take the new Android down," Trunks explains. "When that didn't happen, Kori cried."

He looks over to you. "Kori never cried. Even when talking about what happened to her mom and dad, she looked somber, and you could tell she missed them, but I never once saw her shed a tear. But when Konattsu died, she just broke down. The two of them always argued, but they were still best friends, more like sisters. After that, she threw even more of her time into training, until Sixteen found us again. We barely managed to slip away. Mom guessed that Sixteen had an advanced tracker, so we had to keep under the radar from then on. Kori wasn't happy with that. She stopped training with me so that I wouldn't get hurt, but she kept pushing herself. She'd train, get found, get beaten within an inch of her life, get fixed up by mom, then get back out there and do it again. She was so determined to get revenge for Konattsu that she didn't really even allow time for anything but training and fighting. Well, except for food, sleep, and the like, but you know what I mean. Then, one day, when Sixteen found her, she didn't get away. She was gone. After that, I tried to go after the Androids. I nearly got killed. Mom convinced me to stay hidden while she built the time machine, and then I came back here. There was nothing I could do but run for help."

He sounds ashamed, humiliated, and bitter. As far as he's concerned, he's failed everyone back in his timeline.

"Kori and Konattsu grew into good people," you comment. "I'm glad you had them to look out for you."

Trunks nods. "If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here."

He sighs. "Not that it makes much of a difference. I still can't do anything. Mom could have come back in the time machine and gotten help just as easily."

"Stop that crap talk," you order your son.

He seems shocked to hear you say that, evidently expecting you to agree with him for some reason. "But-"

"Trunks, I had to fend for myself for years in the forest when I was a little kid," you cut him off. "By the time I was twelve, I ran into your mom, Goku, and Oolong. Do you think the young me ever thought he'd one day become as strong as I am right now, let alone have the crazy adventures searching for the dragonballs and fighting enemies I've had to face? You have both parts of two incredible people in you. And there are no limits for you unless you perceive them yourself. That's what Master Roshi told me, Goku, and Krillin when we were kids. And he was right. Your being here does make a difference, Trunks. It means that Kori and Konattsu didn't die in vain, and do you know why?"

Trunks doesn't answer, he just stares wide-eyed.

"Because you're going to be the one to destroy those Androids," you tell him. "And I'm going to help you get strong enough to do it."

"Dad...."

Your son has tears in his eyes. He rubs them away, then nods at you, and in his eyes, you can see determination beginning to surface.

"Okay."

And so the two of you train together for a long time, practicing your endurance as you maintain the Kuma-Ken as a constant state as you spar with one-another, or practice moves out in the oppressive gravity and freezing cold of the Time Chamber.

Trunks trains with renewed vigor, and he quickly increases in strength, soon coming within striking distance of your own power. He seems to hold renewed hope in his heart, and that is making all of the difference.

"I think this is really paying off," Trunks admits as the two of you take a break from training. "My body can barely tell the difference between this and my normal state anymore."

Trains specifically the ability to create ki cushions that diminishes damage. After all, ki is what increases endurance in canon dragon ball rather than enhancement of the regular body. And pain tolerance training is fine too

"Yeah, so we'll keep at it," you tell him. "Now it's time to work on physical endurance and defensive combat. The Bear Style is coming back."

And so, for the rest of your training, you and Trunks spend nearly all of your time in the Kuma-Ken state, subjecting one-another to vicious physical assaults and great deals of pain in order to build physical defense and pain resistance.

When the time comes for the two of you to exit the chamber, you've reached levels of power beyond your wildest expectations. No Androids or bug monsters could even hope to stand against you now.

The Time Chamber door opens, and the two of you step back into the world you left behind, finding Bulma and several of your friends gathered there.

"You've really done it," Popo gasps in disbelief. "I didn't believe that anyone could last an entire year in the Time Chamber."

It goes like this

First time you can't enter the chamber more than two times and you can't stay inside it more than a day otherwise the dimensional door connecting it to our world is closed forever and you are stuck there forever.

Second time, during the buu saga it turns out you can escape the place, but as long as you are strong enough to rip a dimensional hole in the chamber, still can't enter it more than two times or so.

Then Super you can enter as many times as you want since it was upgraded and whether or not you can stay longer now since Vegeta kept destroying it during the black arc and tournament of power recruitment.

"Alright, we'll handle this," you assure the others.

"Tofoo, it's pretty bad down there right now," Bulma warns. "The newest Android somehow merged with the other two."

"Seriously, man, even if you tripled your power, I don't think it's enough," Yamcha tells you.

Tripled? Oh, he has no idea.

"We can deal with it," you promise. "Popo, can I borrow our carpet?"

"Tofoo, why not just teleport there?" he asks.

"Teleport?" Trunks asks.

Popo nods. "As Guardian, you possess Kami's teleportation technique. All you need do is visualize a location on this planet, or locate an energy signature, and say the words Kai-Kai! You will teleport there in an instant."

"Seriously?" Trunks asks in shock.

"Before you two go flying or teleporting off, I brought you some armor," Bulma tells you. "You might want to go get changed."

well not really, sure the ki blade, but we created the bear shout, nail claws, and power geyser during training. We also learned the wolf fang fist and kamehameha by watching it being used and figuring it out ourselves. The Kuma-ken just stands out because of how important it was and how long we spent on it. Plus, that's kind of a silly argument, you can't really blame som for not giving us a chance to create a new technique, it was a choice and people chose to focus on our core strength rather than on making new moves. Probably because most of our needs are covered with the moves we already know. There really just wasn't any point in creating a new move, sure there were some people who brought up creating a new super move but the Bear shout pretty much covers that considering you can just pour energy into it and make a super bear shout similar to the super kamehameha. Overall, people just wanted to focus on rebuilding our forgotten fundamentals and so there really isn't any valid criticism to your post.
>>
Well I kind of want Dodon Ray so we can have a piercing move besides the ki blade. We also need a good finisher but I'm glad we focused on ourselves instead.

>>
>>1775493
You can't be resurrected after a year, Tofoo's been dead for nearly two decades. It isn't gonna happen, in fact, depending on how long Kori and Konattsu have been dead, they're probably permadead too. I think goku had to trade with the old supreme kai to be brought back during the Buu saga, though I can't remember.
>>
>>1775524

In that case, probably Tofoo can upgrade the dragon balls before going there, he sure as hell is a lot stronger than Dende and Kami were, and that should satisfy the dragon's poorly defined working mechanics as its effects are as strong as the one tied to him, sometimes, when the plot demands it
>>

>>

It's not about the durability, it's about how the dragon balls didn't have any problem resurrecting somebody who has been dead for more than a decade without any problems.

hypothetically who would trunks revive first?

how do we stack up power wise with the Grand Kai?

What is picollos favorote color?

has Tien stopped being salty?

whats Pilaf up to? he is still alive right?

what does Korin think of the management shift, and is he paying his fucking rent? because we havent seen bean one since taking over.

so Bulma moves into the Lookout, or the Lookout moves into her back yard?

Popo and Cell decide the fate of Earth with a staring contest, do we live?

Hey som, what are your personal rules for how namekian and earth dragon balls work when it comes to resurrection? Let's be honest, stuff constantly gets changed and there really isn't anything concrete, so I'd rather just have you make it official on what works and what doesn't for the quest.
>>
When you and Trunks reach your friends, you find that they're having some trouble.

All of them appear to have taken some damage, though thankfully nothing too serious as of yet.

You and Trunks materialize next to Goku, who looks over at the two of you in surprise. Piccolo and Krillin look your way as well, the former looking curious, and the latter looking relieved.

Lapis, however, doesn't spare a glance your way. He's ahead of the others, his arms spread out and a dome of green light surrounding his body. And, in front of him is some massive, blue-skinned being with spiked orange hair and green pants.

Seeing as you can't sense his energy, you assume him to be an Android.

The Android lifts off into the air, disregarding Lapis and looking toward you with a scowl.

"How in tarnation did you increase your power that quickly, boy?" the machine asks in some sort of accent.

>A. You spent the day training

>B. That's your little secret

>C. Ask who he is

>D. Tell the others to stand back and let you handle this

Earth balls: Revived only once (changed by a wish on Porunga). Can not revive those that died of natural causes. Does not work on large groups that have been dead for more than a year.

Namek: Can revive as many times as desired, but only one person at a time. Cannot revive those that died of natural causes, but someone getting creative with the other two wishes might be able to find a way around that

"I spent the day training," you tell the machine with a smirk.

"So, I'm guessing your training paid off, then?" Goku asks with a grin.

You nod at him, almost feeling disappointed that he won't be able to stick around and watch you demonstrate your new power. You know that he'd love to see just what you and your son are now capable of.

"Hmph, alright then, you can take a crack at the angry blueberry over here," Lapis tells you, dropping his barrier and moving back to rejoin you and the others.

"The two Androids you'd been fighting are gone, but a third one took parts from them and transformed into this brute," Piccolo explains. "You sure that you two are up for it?"

>A. Absolutely

>B. Two? No, you'll take this yourself

"Right," your friend nods in agreement, raising his right hand and placing two fingers against his forehead.

"While you're in there, you really should help Kori become a Super Saiyan," you suggest before he leaves.

"I know, that's the plan," he assures you before vanishing into thin air.

The Android growls, eyes moving between you and Trunks.

"Be careful, you two," Krillin warns. "This one's a whole heck of a lot tougher than the others."

The machine stops growling, and grins. "The midget's right. You must be plum loco if you think the two of you can take me!"

"Alright, then, you want me to turn you into finger-paint in front of your boy?" it asks, slamming its right fist into its left palm. "That's fine. Big bad thirteen is more than happy to oblige."

You step toward Thirteen, who stands towering over you with a look of pure confidence on his stupid blue face.

Powering up to full seems like a bad idea.
Fighting defensively in the beginning of a fight is all about inviting the enemy in, use the element of surprise.
Powering up would probably make him too wary about us, and likelier to counter.

>Instead of Vegeta getting stomped by Perfect Cell Tofoo gets stomped by Android 13

>>
>>1776093

He's not going to job, right? I mean, Tofoo is now at the very least twice as strong as super 13 plus miscellaneous kuma ken boosts and going full power, so the required rolls shouldn't be too high.

It would be like if super saiyan god super saiyan goku gets wrecked by Satan just because he landed a 20/100

>>
>>1777022

>>
>>1777050
We are at Goku after HBTC level
>>
>>1777055
SOM had already stated that some villans might get a power boost to keep it leveled with Tofoo's progress. So the android we are facing now migth be that strong or even higher. That's why you don't get cocky in a SOM's quest.
>>
>>1777117

But if 13 was pushed into fusing with the other two, that means that the other guys, of which only Piccolo and Goku are comparable with pre-one year training Tofoo, kicked their asses hard enough that they simply had to fuse. Otherwise it doesn't make sense that super 13 is a thing and that the rest of the group were managing to keep him under control.
>>
>>1777022
didn't we establish that the number of sides a dice has doesn't really matter after a point?
>>
>>1777545
the only thing dice size changes is granularity of result. ex. each point on a d20 is five points on a d100. so rolling 19 is equivanlent to rolling 95.

Also, as a god with access to the kai kai, I dont think we can get stuck in the HBTC. kai kai teleports across dimensional and universal barriers so...

we should develop a homing nail gun version of 13s homing bomb while fighting him.

>People made us solo Android 13 instead of a making it a duo stomp.
>The dice appropriately rewards this hubris.

The people that made this selection are complete and utter morons, I swear.
>>
>>1781819

Making it a duo stomp would've been even more humiliating. Just imagine it, at best Tofoo jobs and trunks saves the day while at worst both jobs to 13 like father and son at the same time.

Knowing som, I doubt he would've made the roll required any lower if tag teaming.
>>
>>1782073

I doubt it too, but having someone else to average out the bad rolls make the fight more bearable.
>>
>>1781819
oh what you thought Tofoo was a pragmatic fighter who had learned from his multiple failures that hubris was deadly? haha foolish Anon. How great is your coming sorrow, no man knows!
>>
>>1782177
It not hubris that's deadly it's the fact som doesn't seem to lower the dc or give bonuses
>>
>>1782226

Pretty much this. There's no reason to play safe with an enemy that's clearly inferior to Tofoo. Besides, it's not like he's playing with the enemy or fooling around like canon Goku does, Tofoo's not holding back and is using his full power, which makes all the more ridiculous that this combat would require a high roll.
>>
>>1782177
>>1782226
>>1782255
Whaaaaat? Don't you guys know Super 13 is stronger than Perfect Cell? This is common knowledge
>>
>>1782260

Som doesn't follow canon, and in Tofooverse, super 13 was being handled by warriors who were on equal terms with pre-one year training Tofoo. It wouldn't make sense if turbo buffed Tofoo had troubles with something that his former self could've fought with troubles but still have a shoot at defeating. It would be as if post-time chamber Goku had his ass kicked by semi-perfect cell

Remember when Trunks rekt an overconfident King Cold

Remember when Room of Spirit and Time King Cold rekt an even more overconfident Tofoo+Goku fusion

Tofoo is eager to see the results of this training. We probably aren't going to lose this combat from one decidedly-average roll, but if we job against Super 13 it will be a good reminder for Tofoo not to screw around against stronger opponents. At least he's not going right to Perfect Cell with this attitude, then we'd be fucked outright.
