Glory to Alainn!

You are Cathal Rathais, one of the chosen elite, the 13th Legion, scouting a world 4231 years after your country won the Grand War and placed itself in cryostasis to allow the planet to recover.

You have assumed the false name "Ace Locke" for your hunter identity. So far, only two people have seen through it, one of which can read minds.

A Faerie from an alternate world has altered your body, making you appear much younger.

so far you have:

The following is information you have collected:
>The Archivum is a worldwide network of academic nature that is studying the ruins of the past. They pay well for artifacts.

>An Anomaly in Inis forest is producing strange things.
>Pisteia is a princess
>Clark can read people's minds
>Uriel is Garvelton's son
>The garrison of Graggen is part of the military of the country the duchies are part of
>Faerie exist in another world and can pass through anomalies.
>FEATHER has come from somewhere not of this world and bear weapons comparable to Alainn.
>Alleria is a fae, and her daughter is a shapeshifting creature.
>Alleria, Lily and Clark are stabilizing Inis and repurposing it for FEATHER.
>You need to remove the turrets in your fort.
>Jeremy Trost appears shortly after the Flying Specter does.
>Garvelton got away during your battle.
>Harvest Festival is in celebration of Vor'Ma, a god of an Alainn religion.
>Almeda went to the Grand General (your glorious leader) directly just to be deployed in the same area and time as you.
>Jeremy Trost left behind crops.
>Dragon Rangers are interfering with Archivum activities in Titan's Arm
>Raiders have a main base in Titan's Arm.
>Vee is destroying golems in Lothos.
>Jeremy's laboratory is filled with fae dust from killing fae. A pale horror was destroyed almost instantly.
>Jeremy's laboratory bears patterns and tech that is impossible.
>The Flying Specter is in Lothos.
>Jeremy Trost is afraid of FEATHER is tracking you, and has infiltrated the Hunter's Guild.
>Jeremy Trost is the Madman
>Vee is an android
>Anomalies connect to another world.

Current tasks:
>Assist Professor Trost in subverting the flying city.

Your current score:
Land Claimed: Koro Duchy Manor.
Vehicles obtained: 4 (+1 extra)
Airships: (Unnamed) - Archivum cargo airship
Permanent party members obtained: 7 (3 unavailable)
Allied factions: FEATHER
Harvest Festival Partner: Almeda Irnan
>Memento: Vor'Ma's Tankards. - an item you and Almeda have one each of from the same set. It is an omen of a strong bond between the owners if both tankards are from the same set.

"We could offer you Artoria's services in subverting the sky fortress if you can trade for that..." you offer.

"Oh? Well, I would certainly take that offer, but I refuse to swindle you, so I might need to offer something more." Jeremy nods.

"Actually, there is one thing. When we recovered Artoria from the ruins, she was trying to get our help desperately. Right now her human self is trapped under her programmed mind. Is there any way to free her?"

Jeremy looks at Artoria, then back to you, "Perhaps? But I'd need a detailed analysis. After she does her work here, I will have to do a full comprehensive scan, and then I will see what I can do. There might be negative effects in her performance as an Ollamic terminal though."

Glancing back at Artoria, her face is expressionless... but a projected screen is scrolling, "You'd really do that for me?"

It seems you have an accord.

"If that's all, you should follow me." Jeremy strides to the doorway, "We can get this sky fortress thing over with in a jiffy."

>Professor Jeremy Trost, the madman, has temporarily joined the party. This mad scientist has a hidden arsenal in his possession.

>Vee/Version 2, the defective combat android, has joined the party temporarily, This character is incredibly durable and powerful.

>You have obtained the task: Assist Professor Trost in subverting the flying city.

"Right then!" Following the professor is a given. Questions should be asked.

"Did you happen to develop the weapons FEATHER uses, by any chance?" At your question, Jeremy stops and looks back, worry in his eyes.

"D-did you... meet FEATHER? I did make some of the weapons, but Alleria..." He pales, "Wait..." He whips out a device. for a moment you see a map of the flying city, "...How did you get up here?"

"We came up here using a FEATHER aircraft, but before you freak out, we had about as much knowledge coming up here as they did, which was next to nothing."

Jeremy frowns, "But you still came up here..." He continues on the path, troubled.

"Do you happen to know of an Alleria Trost? Your last name seems a bit similar."

"It's not similar, it's the same last name. Yes, I know of her... She's here, isn't she? In Inis, I bet. All the more reason to get this place under control sooner. Can't let her find me."

HE leads you through the large door, onto the platform where the massive aircraft is being built. With a turn he takes you down a constructed pat. It leads right to the crystalline core of Lothos.

"Why are you trying to get away from her, anyways?" You match his pace to keep up as the party closes on the crystal.

"First off, I'm not exactly popular where I come from. A LOT of enemies. And she happens to be one of those after my hide." he huffs, "That, and she is a faerie. A shapeshifting creature that gains more knowledge when it absorbs people's minds. I don't care if she has my sister's name and appearance. I know what she is, and she is dangerous."

"So you've clashed in the past?"

"Ah? We haven't met again since I went on the run." Jeremy adds. It seems he has no idea of her motivations, but you don't know what she wants with Jeremy either.

"From Alleria?"

"Partially. Actually I ran away from Lab 3. But everyone knows who I am and wants to get ahold of me." Lab 3? There are more organizations after him. He's quite the wanted man, but you've only met one faction after him.

You enter the chamber, and Jeremy begins setting up equipment with Vee.

"What's your plan for this place?"

"Ah, when I'm done with it, this will be home. The Independant Research Union. A beacon of innovation and science!" He grins, setting up a mechanical arm to attach to the core, "I'll have it wander the world, and people will come near and far to see the flying city of innovation."

>>

>>1783188
"Why are you using fae dust?" You ask as Vee has Artoria move into position. Barious monitors are being set up.

"Ah, well, interesting story. Fae alter reality. if you gather fae dust, you can sort of use it to cheat a result. Given how unpredictable it is, this is dangerous, so I instead condense the dust into rods." Jeremy slides one of the rods, sealed in a glass case, into a slot, "Then I have a computer run a whole bunch of energy through it. The rod will spit out different results, and I filter those out until I get the one I want." You don't quite get what he just said. That's somewhat annoying...

"...And Alleria is after you to absorb your mind?"

"Maybe. Who knows with her. I'm pretty sure she wants me dead. She has the most reason for it. Well, actually, my old boss has the most reason..." He frowned as he tightened some parts of the array, "I never know what she wants."

"Well, she said she was after someone- Ah, that'd be you... and she intends to set up FEATHER here."

"She would. Right now they are living on an island gathering scraps from the labs. This world has resources and a lack of fae." Jeremy motions to Vee, and the android starts explaining something to Artoria.

"And what plans... would you have if Alainn were up and running again?" You ask this hesitantly.

"Depends overall on their reaction. I'd probably offer my services, but if they are the type to take things by force, I'd probably back the opposition." Artoria begins working on the core. Vee frantically scrambles about, attaching various things and activating devices.

"Services?"

"I'm a scientist. What I study, invent, and discover are all up for sale... Well, except my home..."

"Oh, right. I often forget..." The crystal core thrumms and shakes as magic circles on the core change, "Vee and I are from a destroyed world. FEATHER is too. It wasn't like this one, so vibrant and clear and hopeful..."

Jeremy looked back at the core, "And magic like this didn't exist. But it was beautiful in its own way. We called it Earth." You blink. Isn't that the word for soil?

"...earth? Like... dirt?" You try.

Jeremy grins at you, "Yes. I'm from a world called 'dirt.' It's actually rather funny. That world is pretty much ruins, waste, and faelands now. With FEATHER, the laboratories and the Fae as the only powerful forces there."
>What are the laboratories?

Alleria is a fae sort of? We nearly tried to kill her on spot when one of our party members identified her as such. Would that anti fae gun work on her?

"But, they looked intact. Completely regimented." Jeremy shakes his head at your protests.

"They have a mobile base. An artificial island larger than this city, loaded with all the means to wage war. A perfect force projection center that is hard to hit. FEATHER dodged the apocalypse. What you see is the last intact remnant of civilization. The Laboratories aren't even as untouched." He explains, "The only restraint for FEATHER is resources and a moral compass of a dead world. Perhaps if they obtain allies, they might be able to make their own country."

"Their leader is sort of a fae. We almost killed her when a friend identified her as such. Wouldn't that anti-fae gun work on her?" The entire fortress shakes. Vee scrambles over the controls of the monitors before Jeremy smacks one of the supports. Lothos becomes stable again.

"Two issues with that: The first is that I can't bring myself to use it on my sister. Even if she is a fae, she still kept her mind. She might no longer subscribe to human morality, but she's still my older sister. The second..." He give you a dark look, "She is INCREDIBLY difficult to kill. That gun drains all the fae nature from something, but she would have roughly enough to be considered one of the most powerful ones out there. It would take a long time of sustained fire on her, and she has the advantage of being able to split herself apart." Jeremy shakes his head, "And with her in charge of FEATHER, if they saw someone with one of my guns firing it on her? You'd get smashed by them fast." Perhaps earning the wrath of a group of heavily armed advanced soldiers might not be a good idea, besides, you did ally with them.

"You might want to pay more attention to that core..." You point out. Jeremy shrugs.

"I can't use magic, so if something does go wrong, I'm powerless. Vee and Artoria are the only ones who can do anything." Jeremy laughs. You feel slightly less safe.

"...how would FEATHER let a fae control them?"

"They wouldn't. Odds are they don't know and she rose through the ranks. With a human mind, she can easily fall in line with humans. Since I was a child she's been a fae... She practically raised me." Artoria makes a motion ad Vee clamps some devices into place. he structure rumbles and then goes still.

"The task is complete." Artoria announces.

"Fantastic! Now, we have to go... this way!" Jeremy points to another entryway.

"What exactly are the laboratories?" You push forward after him.

"Not something I'm proud of, but my homeland was losing a war. They passed the Laboratories Act. A series of secret underground facilites were made with the goal of finding a way to win, no restrictions." Jeremy turned a corner, leading past the pulsing core of a high-tech reactor, "I worked in lab 3: Genetics. After the war ended, the labs kept working. I fled lab 3 after learning who we were using as materials for our bioweapons. Now they battle each other, FEATHER, and the fae in a grab for scraps." Interestingly, he seems to come from one of these labs rather than FEATHER. His animosity towards them might be due to his past ties.

"So who else is after you? Besides Alleria and Lab 3?"

Jeremy turns and smirks, "I don't mean to boast-"

"You are." Vee interrupts.

"AHEM, I din't mean to boast, but I sort of developed 60% of the weapons used in that war. I also like brand recognition so..."

"Everyone knows your name, and they know your weapons ended the world." You conclude.

"People ended the world. I just made guns for the government! It's not my fault they were so damn effective and spread everywhere thanks to human greed and the black market!" Jeremy rants.

"Any way to make a more workable relationship or co-operation between us?"

Jeremy nods, "Of course, but you'd have to go to Earth to do that. There's plenty in it for you... but plenty of risk." Perhaps this other world mighy have a variety of materials that can give you an edge...

"I've got to think about going to Earth before I decide to go."

"No worries, take your time." Jeremy leads Artoria to a device that she lies down upon. The machine whirrs and starts moving into a large ring.

"What would I exactly face on Earth?"

"Mechs, bioweapons, robots, fae, survivors... Quite a lot of different things, actually. Overall you'd probably face empty environments, but I'd have Vee escort you... Now, please direct your questions at her, I must work." Jeremy looks intently at the screens, scrolling numbers and lettering too fast for you to follow.

Vee blinks, "Oh. I get to be on the spot now. Okay..." She seems a bit surprised that she's being made the focus now.

"I'm adopted. I was actually made by a robotics company in Japan... The professor obtained me somehow and now I'm with him." Vee happily explains, "Of my past owners, the professor is the only one who has cared for me."

"I bought her for 12.99 off Craigslist." Jeremy added. You have no idea what the 12-99 is, but you expect it must be worth a great deal.

"I see... So he offered your help if we went to Earth, right?"

"That's right." Vee nods, smiling.

"How could you help us on Earth?"

"Aside from knowledge of the terrain and landmarks? Would my railgun be adequate? Or perhaps my durability and strength? I am a combat android. I''m designed to have the power of a tank within a small target." She blinks.

"So why don't you do this task yourself?"

"That's the real problem. You see, I can get very far out there, but I sort of have a reputation." She probably is well-known like the professor. She's either trying to protect him, or her reputation is detrimental to the degree it prevents success.

"So, will you be helping us?" She tilts her head like a curious child. If not for the eyes and the armor, she could easily pass as one, but you've seen her in action.

"Oh! That's wonderful!" Vee does a small jump with excitement. Uriel rubs his chin, "Would it be wise with just us, though?"

"We saw a Zerican golem get trashed by the girl here, so I can't see why not..." Pisteia counters.

The machines in the room whirr as the shields around Artoria lift. The Ollamic Terminal blinks a few times, staring at her hands as she clenches them.

"I... I can move on my own." She feels her face, "I can feel what my hair is like... Aaah, It's soft... I thought it would feel like metal..." She looks at one of the reflective surfaces.

"I look so expressionless..." She gives a shaky smile at her reflection, "Oh. Close..."

Jeremy pushes away from the computer, "Ta-dah! I am a genius. Even the tech of FEATHER wouldn't be able to free that consciousness, but I did it, and all I had to do was reroute half the neurons in her brain and reconnect several nerve cords!" He gives a bow as the ceiling opens. He catches the anti-fae gun in one hand and tosses it to you. It's very light, actually.

"You are going to Earth then?" He smoothly draws a pistol from his coat and tosses it to Vee. "Tell me when you are ready."

"Artoria? Are you alright?" You diceide to check on your part member before making a decision.

"Oh, right." Artoria looks at you as if remembering where she was and who she was with,"Hello! I think this is the first time we've spoken outside my screens..."

"Can you remember your name?"

"No... I'm afraid I can't. I remember being taken with the other Terminals before we were modified." She looks down at the floor, "There's one for each underground area, save for Ollam City. That one has the Ollam Archive. I'm not sure I ever had a name..." The Ollam archive... That was Ollam's main data storage. You recall news articles from them boasting about the system that allowed them to run their country more efficiently...

Didn't the Grand General say that if Ollam was destroyed, he'd secure it himself?

"Before I go to the other world, I might need party members and supplies." You tell Jeremy.

"Ah, I see. Well, I'm not very well stocked on supplies other than food and guns. Vee is self-sufficient." He frowns, "As for party members, I can send you down in a gondola to a location of your choice. With the sky fortress under control, you can probably dock here safely now. I can prepare one for you immediately."

>Professor Jeremy Trost has left the party.

Of the party members you currently have, Vee will probably not get along with Alleria and Lily at this time. Clark might be the only party member you can recruit. What do you do?

"We could use some food supplies first, if possible."

Jeremy nods, "Of course." He walks out of the room for a bit, then returns with a pile of MREs you don't recognize, "I'd pack lunches, but the food would get cold." He laughs, but nobody seems to get the joke.

You've obtained quite a lot of food supplies.

"Where did these come from?"

Jeremy laughs, "Well, I used to work in Lab 3, and they had a lot of these. Before I fled I took a few for myself..."

"He stole a truck." Vee explains.

"I stole a truck." he nods.

"Riiiight. We'll take the gondola now." Jeremy is just... weird. Your group goes to the gondola dock, boarding the vehicle within. Jeremy sees you off, or he is just seeing Vee off. The aircraft provides a smooth trip to your airship.

After your party exist, the gondola closes up, flying back to the floating city high above. You are now at your airship. Since you need party members, it would be best to head to Inis.

Pisteia regards the map, "We've mostly kept the group together, haven't we? Where would we get more members?"

Your airship roars to life as you take off, soaring over the landscape towards Inis. Koroton looks tiny below your ship.

Vee stares down at the landscape, "It's so bright and peaceful..."

Your ship pulls into inisvale, which has taken on a new look. Great glass spires now dominate the center of the city, behind a fortified wall. FEATHER soldiers greet you on the airship dock. Vee has placed a cloak over herself.

"Welcome back! Inis is progressing well."

For now, I'd like to avoid Alleria

Also, before we go to Earth, we need to shut off our perimiter defenses for the construction crew. That WAS the whole point of getting fixed.

"Have you seen Clark?" You ask the soldier.

"Mr. Thule? He was browsing the shops earlier. He still might be down there." The man shrugs.

"You guys have changed this place a lot..."

"This is nothing, you should see Sierra. It's unrecognizable now. We intend to set up a railway between the towns in Inis. It'll really help transportation."

"The city already looks vastly different..." You note, staring at the towers. They remind you of the cities in Alainn, actually.

"Oh, those? Those are the operations center. Alleria and the administrators run things over there."

"I see..." You descend the air tower. The archivum building of Inis is occupied once again on the street level, although most of the structure was rebuilt with metal and glass. The Zerican architecture is now just a facade for the actual building.

The gate to the city center looms behind you, where the more advanced FEATHER buildings are. Down the road you can see the start of the shops.
