Welcome to A Song of Silver & Sword: House Grallner Quest. Here we will follow the journey of Ser Landon Grallner, the Knight of Whitestone Keep sworn to House Belmore of Strong Song. The year is 288AC, winter is at its peak in the Vale, and the coffers of House Grallner grow thin as does its food supply. The smallfolk find themselves restless, the Mountain Clans grow bolder, and the shadows of the Mountains of the Moon loom large.

Prayers do not fall upon deaf ears, they find succor upon the mind of Ser Landon Grallner. With sword in hand and Faith as his shield, he rouses himself to the challenge.

House Grallner Quest uses the SIFRP rules as dictated by the A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying, A Game of Thrones Edition. In addition to a handful of homebrew rules common to these quests. A .pdf dump is below for those interested in the complete ruleset.

"Justice Soars."
>>
The wind had begun to howl as the afternoon snow storm continues to roll in, the evergreens that lined the dirt path to Whitestone Keep’s main gatehouse had begun to groan and bend. You hadn’t expected the storm to come in so quickly, the fine cloak that Ser Cador Belmore had gifted you whips about, annoying you to some degree, such needless frivolities. You push Warrior into a canter, hearing the call of the gatehouse guard’s horn to announce your arrival and are thankful for the relief that the grey walls of stone offer from the blistering cold and wind.

“Dangerous storm be rollin in m’lord,” one of the guards offers. And older man with a nose tipped with black, like to lose it soon. The ‘Bowmen shake off their own cloaks and huddle around the braziers set about to warm their hands. Last thing you wanted was for your men to lose fingers. You allow them their comforts and pull your cloak tighter to weather the courtyard and into the stables where you hand off your horse to the young stablehand. Young Parwyn Waynwood is waiting for your return to the Whitestone, idly looking about the sparsely decorated great hall.

“Ser, do you wish to change into warmer clothes?”

You pause and regard the boy for a moment, he is skinny you realize, a bit too much in fact, he hadn’t hit the full stride of his growth yet even at two-and-ten. You respond, “No squire. I’d rather not. Have you seen the Steward?”

“Maffew Shett?” he asks before shaking his head, “Ser, when will be begin my training? My brother never let me fight… Said I’d hurt myself. Only Auntie has able to convince him to let me squire.”

Well at least he was good with names but his words give you cause to pause and frown, “LAdy Waynwood you mean?”

“Yes, Auntie.”

“I hardly think the Lady would prefer to be called such outside of the privacy of her own home, squire. You will refer to her by her proper title, as a show of respect, as all men and women you have met and will meet are due. Are we clear?”

The boy is silent and looks at his feet before speaking again in a meek and mild voice, “Yes Ser, I understand.”

“Good. Prepare the chapel. I will take prayer after I speak with Maffew Shett, as will you.”

He nods and walks off, you continue wearing your frown before turning to leave the great hall and going down a side passage that lead to Maffew’s room. The Whitestone had a gorgeous vista you note, pulling your cloak tight again as you cross through an open window stone walkway that connected the main keep to a small squat tower that sat apart from the rest of the building. It had traditionally been the Maester’s quarters, the raven rockery held in the high peaked roof, his living quarters, infirmary and all other things that a Maester might need held in the three floors below that dug into the mountains below.
>>
Maffew had taken to living there of late, he was the only one that knew how to handle the four or five ravens you had left and with enough of an eye for reading that could manage to decipher the old Maester’s records of the Earp’s books before your time. What ever did happen to Maester Varon you find yourself wondering occupying your mind as another walks away from the tower, shrouded in grey and brown cloaks they nod to you as you pass, hardly gaining a second look as you enter the tower.

“Maffew!” you call. A clatter of books and the rush of an open window rustling papers about the room answers your voice, you call again, “Maffew! I have letters that need to be penned and sent! Ser Trevor wrote them down... Here,” you say after a brief moment of searching your person for the Stormlander’s notes.

“Ah, well of course Ser! Of course!” Maffew’s voice finally calls back, popping his head around the corner, you note how red and out of breath he appears.

“Are you okay Maffew, a fever?”

He touches his forehead and cheeks, “Oh, um, a touch Ser,” he stumbles out, “A moment a moment.”

You walk up the small wooden stairway the splits the room in two, hand trailing on the wooden balcony that overlooked the old Maester’s work room, you push the door open to the living quarters and find a need to avert your eyes and sniff only to regret it immediately with the smell of musk hitting you like a brick wall, you grimace and say, “Maffew put some clothing on. Have you no shame? And small wonder you catch a fever, close the window.”

“I asked for a moment Ser,” he offers, turning in his full nudity to close the shutters before draping a robe over himself and tying it in the front. You frown at him but he waves it off, patting his forehead with a handkerchief and moving past you, “Letters?”

You produce the piece of paper that Ser Trevor Trant had given you, and he looks it over, “Ah yes this, Trevor asked me of it briefly. You plan to petition Lord Arryn for some ruins in the far flung northwest, for what purpose?”

“The Dawntower,” you state simply, “It was in Marston’s notes. House Earp had an old claim on it, being the builders. House Tollett took it in some dispute long ago, landed a Knight there. They died off, the land fell to ruin. I believe there are clansmen holed up there. House Earp’s old claims are now mine, I will press it and we will enact our law there and cleanse the ruins of the plague that are the Moon Swallows.”
>>
He purses his lips and bobs his head from side to side, “Nestor Royce is the High Steward in the Eyrie. I see little reason why he would deny you your claim. I do not doubt it’ll ruffle Lord Badics feathers, but I doubt you care. House Tollett might be more than peeved, however, expect some sort of rebuke, even though the land now lays unclaimed...” he says trailing off as he writes, “I will find the appropriate papers and send them with a raven. Fortunately our raven to the Eyrie still knows his way. Next?”

“A letter to House Bordain.”

Maffew wears a look of worry at the name, “The Iron Lord, why? I thought you detested him?”

“I dislike him,” you say, “But he has the market cornered for superior arms in these parts of the Vale. I would like for you to write him and attempt to negotiate a more reasonable price for his arms. Four hundred dragons to arm a single company of men is robbery.”

“What do you plan to offer? Surely you know that the Iron Lord is married to the heiress of House Tollett, this is small chance that she will be fond of her Lord husband selling arms to a historical rival of her own House at a discounted price.”

You shrug and he frowns scribbling down some notes and pull another piece of paper, “Ser Trevor suggested we inform Lord Belmore that you will be coming to Strong Song. However it would appear he left the details of such a visit to the two of us,” he says his voice tilting with annoyance but he turns to you, with a look and a pointed finger in thought, “You will need to decide if you will go to him within the week or within the month, or not at all. But… Ser Landon, Trevor Trant seems to be of the impression that we will be asking for military aid. I am sorry if this is something the two of you had discussed but may I offer an opinion?”

You wave your hand wordlessly.

“House Belmore could offer us a line of credit, funds, to be repaid at a later date. The House still struggles Ser, we could use the funds to purchase more food stuffs, to arm our men properly. To… Hire a bloody Maester. Surely he would offer you a reasonable rate as you are his bannerman and friends with his heir. I would not suggest asking Lord Belmore for men, he would be more inclined to offer money in this way, as it makes the man a profit and assures your continued loyalty as if that were ever a question.”

You scrunch your face up, you honestly hadn’t ever considered asking for money before. It felt like begging, the idea of placing your House in debt felt...
>>
Maffew raises his hands, “I know, I know. It is a very difficult, frightening thought, we um… Should consider it carefully yes? Or perhaps you would rather procure these funds through another agency? I still have contacts from Gulltown, the Bank of Bays in Pentos has been doing well these past years I understand, they have an emissary that serves Lord Grafton now, I could contact him? Or… Oh Seven, I nearly forgot the Faith! Surely they would offer a man such as yourself a line of credit.”

“Only if I were a Guardian of the Faith,” you recall in a short moment of knowing what you were talking about, adding with a bitter tone, “I am not even a Proctor.”

Maffew laughs, standing and searching for a moment, “I have been meaning to give this to you Ser, but with the Belmore visit, your busying yourself with the slaughter of mountain clansmen I hadn’t the time,” he hefts a package from the upper level of the room and with a degree of strain brings it down and places it before you,” he smiles, a crooked yellow thing, “Go on, open it.”

You finger the brown paper lightly, tracing the words on the packaging, “Where is it from?”

“The Great Sept of Baelor, King’s Landing, open it.”

The Great Sept? Surely they wouldn’t have heard of you… No, but… You felt an exhilarating pang of joy run through your body as you carefully open the package. Upon a brown satchel is a handwritten letter than Maffew scopes up as you open the drawstring and pull a pair of plate gauntlets from the bag. They are gorgeous things, shining brightly even despite their housing, fully articulated fingers, detail chased with silver the Seven Pointed Star of the Faith etched upon the top of the hands, detailed in red. There are words written about them all, verses of the old scriptures. Your face smiles despite yourself, “These are the Smith’s Gauntlets,” you whisper.

“Ser Landon Grallner of Whitestone Keep,” Maffew says with the most grandiose his voice will conjure, “We of the Faith confer upon you the honorary title of Proctor of the Faith, for your continued and fervent support of the church, her people both small and large, and for all future support you may provide. Do not think your actions go unnoticed, as the Faith sees and knows all deeds done by mortal man, particularly those done in their honor. As a token of our appreciation for your efforts we have sent the first of six pieces for the Plate of the Faith, the Smith’s Gauntlets, we hope it finds you in good health.

Again, we thank you for your service to the Faith and church Ser Landon. We do hope to hear of your continued endeavors to extortionate and honor the Faith through your actions.

Bless you Ser Landon Grallner, Knight of Whitestone Keep and Proctor of the Faith.

--High Septon”
>>
You stare at him, mouth slightly ajar. You had hoped, dreamt in your childhood for such an honor some day. The old Septon had filled your head with songs and stories of the Champion of the Faith of his youth. A Noble Knight of the highest caliber. And how there hadn’t been one in the decades that had followed his death. A single step upon the long road towards an ambitious goal.

“Another step my Lord and you’ll be a Guardian,” Maffew says, “I wouldn’t recommend waiting but… These are your choices.”

How would you like to negotiate with Lord William Bordain?
Note: Maffew Shett will be negotiating for you, rolling a 4D-3 for Persuasion(Bargain).

>Offer 3 units of Silver in exchange for a discount (+1 Bonus to roll)
>Offer 6 units of Silver in exchange for a discount, you however will not have enough to give your usual monthly tithe to the Faith (+2 Bonus to roll)
>Offer nothing, merely relying on Maffew’s negotiating skills (0 Bonus to roll)
>Something else? (Write-in)

Invitation to Strong Song?
>Respond that you will be answering the summons within the week
>Respond that you will be answering the summons within the month
>Respond that you are unable to visit
>Do not respond at all

If/When you do visit Strong Song what do you wish to petition Lord Belmore for?
>Military aid, your own men are too green and spread too thin to deal with Moon Swallows effectively (Middle Difficulty)
>Financial aid, your House yet struggled, and as your liegelord surely he would be able to offer you a fair line of credit (Low Difficulty)
>Both (High Difficulty)
>Nothing

>Faith Level: 2
>Faith Points: 0/25

You receive points based upon actions that the Faith would approve of, up to 3 at a time, depending upon the action and the importance of said action. Each time you level up the Faith will confer another title upon Landon that will come with benefits, examples; offering a line of credit, a Destiny Point, and a piece of the six piece full plate set. An incredibly rare and expensive piece of ceremonial armor that Houses devoted to the Faith cherish greatly if they even have a single piece, a full set is incredibly rare and prestigious.

We really need those weapons but I am not willing to give up 6 units of silver for that.

I feel we need to hurt the Moon Swallows a lot more if we want to leave our lands unattended. If we win another battle like the one in the mine under a week I might be willing to change my vote.

>Financial aid, your House yet struggled, and as your liegelord surely he would be able to offer you a fair line of credit (Low Difficulty)

Can we talk to Maffew about the letters from Belmore that he didn't mention to us, the stolen weapons in the armory?

Hey man that hurts. Yeah I know I suck.

Sorry about the super late post, had a doctor's exam that took way longer than I had expected.

Anyway, another thing to mention is this is how your resources break down at the moment.

You produce 15 units of silver a month. In order to keep your people, household, and military fed you need 15 units of Food, all of which is provided by House Belmore right now. The break down is as such
>2 Silver units:2 Faith Points - Faith tithe
>9 Silver units:15 Food units - House Belmore trade
>4 Silver free per month

You have 0 stockpiled. You are free to attempt to find better deals, attempt to renegotiate with Lord Belmore if you find the current deal unfair, make other deals with your freed up units for other things you might want, etc.

So is Landon just really oblivious to the fact that Maffew just got done having sex?
>>
Landon reminds me a lot of Frederick IV of Denmark

Here is his wiki.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_IV_of_Denmark

>Married Sophia Magdalene "was considered an unequal match for the Danish prince, but the king gave his permission. In Christian's letters, he describes his feelings for the princess's intense religiosity, which reminded him of his own."

>"The king was shy and introverted by nature, and stayed away from the public. Christian's indignation at his father's bigamy and general promiscuity – the reason for the great sorrow of his late mother – led him to one of his first government actions: reversing his father's will and depriving widow Queen Anna Sophie, (Frederick IV's third wife if all "marriages" are counted, second wife if bigamous marriages excluded), of a large part of the wealth she had inherited before exiling her to the Clausholm estate, her childhood home."

>"To posterity Christian VI is known foremost as a religious ruler. He was deeply devoted to Pietism, and during his entire reign he tried to impart its teachings to his subjects. The religious pressure he imposed, along with his lack of personal charm, made him one of the most unpopular of Denmark's absolutist kings"

He also built children's home for orphans and work houses for the people who could not find any meaningful enployment and created what would become the danish public school.

Alright, so it looks like offer 3 units of silver to the Iron Lord, go to Strong Song within a month, and ask for financial aid from Lord Benedar. Good stuff.

The roll on this post will be a 4D-2 and will be the result of Maffew's test. You will hear back from Lord Bordain with his response in about a fortnight since you must send a rider.

“Send Lord Bordain an offer of three orders of silver, in exchange for a discount,” you say after thinking on it, “Surely even an Iron Lord can find use for silver.”

“In the raw or processed?”

“The raw,” you say, thinking on how low the supplies of your silver bars had become over the years as you attempted to keep the House afloat. The smelters were just now catching up and you’d have their resources to count upon again by the end of the month. Or so you were told.

“Easy enough then. But I warn you, the Iron Lord is a difficult man to haggle, not to mention his wife...” Maffew says scribbling more letters in what you assume is messy script but it all seems to your eyes, “The letter will take a fortnight, we have no raven for him, so I will need to send a rider, no doubt they will have heard of your claim upon the Dawntower by then,” he shakes his head and looks up at you, “And Lord Belmore?”

“Tell him we will visit within the month,” you say crossing your arms and leaning back, “And I believe you have the better of it Maffew. A loan could potentially put the House back upon its feet.”

“Well keep your options open, hm?” he responds not looking up, “If you think the terms unfair, perhaps we go to another? Seven knows Lord Belmore is already fucking us over a barrel, wouldn’t put it past-”

Maffew stops speaking as he notices the level and stern gaze you’ve fixed upon him and continues to scribble down his letters.

“That looks to be all Ser,” he says a few moments later. You had become distracted by turning the gauntlets over and examining every facet of the beautiful armor, it was ceremonial armor to be certain but it was incredible work all the same, an armourer beyond reproach had made this. Hand guided by the Smith himself. It brought pride to your heart. Maffew clears his throat, tightening his robe and looking to the door, “If that is all Ser..?”

You eyes leave the gauntlets as you slowly and carefully place them upon the table again, “It is not Maffew.”

He looks away, the sweat upon his forehead hadn’t left you notice, and he drums his fingers upon the table, “Landon I apologize for not informing you of the letters from Lord Benedar.”

“Yes, let us start there,” you respond leaning back slightly, your armor creaking in the cold, “Why?”

He mutters back and forth awhile, pursing his lips and finally breathing heavily, looking up at the ceiling, “I had thought I lost you. You use to be so ambitious, so… Driven. You were willing to fight for anything and everything. But as the years grew and winter came to the Whitestone you withdrew. Sequestered yourself away from us all. Seven you wouldn’t even allow me to join you for morning prayer anymore! We use to read the letters, remember? Together, at the beginning, you so desired to learn even on days when nothing came, where did that man go? He faded and so had your star...
>>
So I thought… Well I thought, perhaps not enough, that if we ignored the letters long enough the Belmores would come here. Seeing Ser Cador again would surely reawaken your idle body. The spirit cannot be the only one fed Landon, you are two pieces that needed to act as a whole. And I understand if you are wroth with me for it. But I did what was necessary to return you to form.”

You sit back a frown fixed upon your face, his hands gripped the table, the nervousness in his voice having laxed for once, “Why were you so nervous before Cador then?”

“I find the man terrifying. During his years recovering from the injury inflicted upon him by Bronze Yohn he studied, he learned, he knows far more than any give him credit. If any man could find fault with me, that what I have done for this House to be lacking. It would be him, his mere look sends me to shivers… I am shamed to say.”

“Tell me why the Moon Swallows have uniforms, steel, weapons,” you say, “You keep our records. Do my armoury’s inventory. Surely you would have noticed it all having gone missing?”

“Because Ser Trevor Trant asked me to send that to the mines? The note said you were raising a peasant levy, send basics armanats, uniforms, and good steel for the leaders, that was a fortnight ago? I don’t bother to argue with the Knight-Commander, he spoke with your voice for so long. I assumed it to be true.”

“I did no such thing Maffew,” you say confusion upon your voice, “Show me the note.”

Maffew stands and goes to his files, picking through the various piles of books and scrolls until he lands upon it, and reads aloud “Maffew, send one hundred uniforms, fifty bows, ten quality steels blades to the mines. Do it with discretion and update accordingly. --Trevor”

You sit straight, your face screwed up further, surely Ser Trevor Trant could not be betraying you? He was the most honorable man you knew, personally, he wouldn’t, couldn’t do that to you.

“Landon what’s going on?” Maffew asks nervously, “You have never taken such interest in our records before. Calling upon Marston’s, Seven rest his soul, field reports, asking of the armoury. What is happening?”

>What do you wish to ask Maffew Shett?
Notes:
To keep this more in line with Landon’s personality type we will be doing this differently from here on out. Landon now has 3 questions to ask, to be decided by the majority of the group, offer your suggestions and we will vote if necessary.

Can we ask Maffew to teach us to read and if so why haven't we learnt it yet
>>
“May I have that?” you ask offering a hand. Maffew hands it to you with little fuss, taking his seat beside you once more. You sniff at the parchment, and he gives you a queer look, it smelled of paper, not any flowers so far as you were aware but you keep it all the same, “The letter says accordingly? Did you ever speak to Ser Trevor regarding this?”

“As I said Ser, I saw no need,” he says, “Until a few days past you hardly did more than wake, pray, eat, train, eat, pray, sleep. Beside the dislike the man holds for me, Ser Trant spoke for you regarding military matters, I will admit I was excited and thought it to be the first step in you awaking. When I heard that the clansmen had these weapons and uniforms I… I didn’t know what to do. I gave them to the scouts to deliver when they went up to the Mines a fortnight ago and that is all the more I knew of them.”

You sigh, “The same scouts I just found were made up of traitors and turncloaks? I just finished executing one, Eli?”

Maffew sucks in air quickly and buries his head in his hands, “It was him.”

“I had thought as much,” you say examining the letter which you glean zero new information from though you frown at the foreign words, you knew how to write your own name down, and it was always a long and arduous process of titles and letters, suppose that is growing longer now. You frown, wondering if Trevor always signed his letters so impersonally, that didn’t sound like him very much at all, not if he was anything like you.

“Why did you not confront me about this before?” you ask.

Maffew gives you a look from behind his hands, “Why would I? I wanted to you reawaken, assuming you were raising levies filled me with hope, but I did not want to push too much knowing Ser Cador would be arriving so soon. As for after when I heard of the clansmen’s attack and the turncloaks, I would suppose embarrassment? Shame? Though I am more shamed now that you stand before me thinking I had something to do with this, that is what this is about isn’t it?”

You ignore his question, “Who was the first to see Marston’s head in the great hall?”
>>
Maffew pauses, his face in frowns, “Lady Jeyne Stone and Lady Wylla Earp. Ser Trant and Ser Belmore came running once they heard the screaming. I was there last, Ser Trevor can attest to this. Landon, I… I would not betray you. I only wanted the best for you, for your family, your father was my mentor. I still hold love in my heart for Lady Lelianna. And you are like the son I never had, may never have even. Perhaps my actions were rash and without thought but I have nothing to do with these things. I swear it, by my mother’s grave, by the Seven. I… I’m hurt Landon, that you could ever think a thing of me such as that.”

You look away and go to stand, his hand grips your forearm and he looks at you, you speak, “I said none of those things Maffew. Your mind wanders too easily, look to the Faith for guidance and calm.”

Leaving the tower you close the door, being smacked by the raging winds and snow once again. Your mind was a mess, you did not know who to trust. What to believe. You curse your inability to read but remember that Maffew had spoken some truths, you had grown lax in the years since the Rebellion. There had been a spurt of greatness, but perhaps it had been more of necessity than anything. Your Faith surrounded and guided you, but had you strayed from the path? The heavy gauntlets under your arm said no. But a part of your heart said yes.

oh well. so /qst/, who dun it? And whats Landon going to do about it?

I say it was the little girl with help from Maffew or Trent.

As for what to do? keep the faith, be a knight. sure some of our people are dick ass erp loyalists. so what? we arent cunning enough to uncover their heinous plot. we never will be. But that doesn't stop the Warrior. A horse may get ticks, but that doesnt slow it down.

extend our mine, for silver doesnt freeze like crops. rebuild the port so we can have better options for that silver. Hows the fishing around here? bet our smallfolk would like some food.

And in between all of this murder Moon Swallows. Later replace Moon Swallows with Iron born.

If we get betrayed, trust in the Seven to provide and in our sword arm to do its work.

i think it would be a fine ambition for Landon to be a champion of the faith and have a cathedral on his land.
>>
>>1784678
It was fairly clearly Jeyne Stone in the employ of another lord. She played our best men against each other and used her charge's family name to rally hold outs to destabilize our lands. It at minimum weakens us for further conflicts or if the clans are lucky they take us out entirely, then march in and get our land.

I would say Wylla was in on it but I doubt it given her reaction to Marston and the accompanying guilt.

how many orphans do you think we have?

workhouses might be effective once we have the port back up, ships always need rope and oakum

So what parts make up the armor of the Faith? Guantlets, breastplate, helm, leg harness, and arm harness. Maybe a shield or mail shirt as the sixth piece. Considering Landon, I'm sure he wears a full hauberk instead of voiders.

>>1784978

things to cobsider for the future.

after a careful perusal of out of strife I have a few Ideas. these are mostly just general goals for the next 10 or so years.

>the mine

expanding and upgrading the mine will offer us more guaranteed passive income which we can use to pay back loans or improve our lands directly. We are already essentially garrisoning it so defensive structures arent out of the question at all.

>our town

repairing the port is of the highest priority. once thats done a fishery would be a life saving addition especially if we had a fishing fleet, and processing center. those alone would help boost our terribly low population.

A shipwright would be an excellent addition, especially if they reduced the cost of a fishing fleet.

monthly religious festivals might be nice later when we have more free money.

>Law
Our bond with out dog gave me an idea. kennels. I am torn between breeding the dogs for War or as guard dogs.

Bailiffs. having these promotes Law very quickly which is something we desperately need considering that Moon Swallow attacks are brazen as all hell. Of I thought sabotage more likely I would say to have these go investigator and back them up with guard dogs. As we are now military training is probably more useful.

>the faith
an abbey hosting a warrior brotherhood sounds right up Landons alley. especially if the building is later incorporated into a larger cathedral.

a healing site would also help with population and would be cool as hell.

>defenses
since we are commited to reclaiming the old tower it might be worthwhile to invest in a stonemason and engineers.

turning the Whitestone into an impregnable fortress would also appeal to landon, but probably wont occur in his lifetime.

so yeah in ten years I see Landon having a more stable realm possibly patrolled by stone faced bailiffs and their loyal guard/war dogs.

of course getting all of this accomplished would be insanely successful, and paint us as a target for the ironborn and others.
>>
>>1785519
Maybe later we get some war dogs we can form a unit with handlers/elite soldier called the Hounds of Whitestone? Dogmatic Dogs?

Once we get the shepherd lands, we should also invest in animal husbandry with woolworks. A road would help as well with our silver shipments

The military academy would fit in well with an warrior brotherhood abbey. Men should not just be taught martial qualities, they need spiritual teachings so that they act in ways that honor themselves and the Faith.

If we do get war dogs, one of them has to be named Becerrillo

looking at the kennels again, the scouting hounds would make our scouts top tier. Considering how hard the Moon Swallows and other mountain clans are to track, those two bonus dice would help a lot in our search.

A quarry would fit with the Vale, and for 15 wealth we'd get a very nice bonus to house fortunes. The stoneworks upgrade isn't that great though.

Earp's old solar isn't being used, Father might let us get it for cheaper than normal. It's not a priority, but it would help our image to not receive our guests in the dining hall. A library once we learn to read would be good as well, purely for aesthetic reasons

Tolls are a cheap investment, with a nice pay
off whenever we roll for wealth. Might tick off the people that travel on our river though.

>>1786840
>Landon meets Stannis
>He brings the red woman
>Landon calls her 'Demon Preacher' and attacks her
>OP magic(pls nerf) stops us from killing her

>>
>>1787013
Tolls also help us regulate who is travelling on our roads and who can get in, which improves our law, which is great. People have to weigh the cost of paying our toll and being safe, or not paying and dealing with the mountain clans.

I'll also agree with the Scouting Hounds, they would help us a lot, Guard Dogs would help down the line as well, what us having traitors within our ranks.

The quarry would be great, I like the +2 Def bonus, I'd like to see some homebrew thing that if we have a quarry + stoneworks and a stonemason, it will reduce the build time even more, and increase the defence more, maybe even be able to hold more troops, somehow. Plus we'll get to sperg out on what our castle defences are like. Unless there is already something with that and I'm blind.

get an engineer as well for that, build time would be reduced 20%

I am ready for the castle sperging, but I think we should focus more on small defenses that we cover our lands with. Rebuild the Dawntower, put one up next to the mine, and something near the shepherds. After that, we can add to our castle.
>>
>>1787225
I knew I was forgetting something, Engineer was obviously it. Does that 20% stack with the 10% from the stonemason?

I agree we need to get that claim on the tower first, and build up more outside just our castle to make our lands safer.

Also, that's pretty much how I imagine the Dawntower, little taller maybe. Just not in quite as good shape obviously. Maybe with a small empty hamlet built around it. From the lands switching from Earp to Tollet to Moon Swallows, it might make sense for the tower to have an extra something around. Then again, it's said to be "A far-flung tower in the mountains that is hardly known to those outside of the best trackers and historians now." so maybe not. Excited for it anyhow.
>>
>>1787303
I would assume they stack, an engineer doesn't know how to optimize stonecutting efficiency. Wonder if it's cumulative or 20% off the 90%

That's how I picture the rebuilt dawntower, the perspective makes it look a lot more stout. That door is probably 6-7 feet tall, and the tower is 7 doors tall even with the perspective. It's probably 50-60 feet tall
>>
OK, so I am reading the Core book and Out of Strife Prosperity and there's a problem with the plan of getting a Septon before the Maester.

In the core book, to get the Septon you need the Sept holding which takes 15 wealth and 12+2d6 Months while the Priest Personage requires the Temple holding (10 Wealth and 3d6+12 months) or Chapel holding (4 Wealth and 1d6+6 months) while also costing 5 Wealth and 1d6 months.

That's 9 Wealth with a waiting time between 8 and 18 months. That can be a lot of time before getting our letters and literacy in order.

Maester also have a five wealth discount as a "defining setting trait" unlike septs

looking over our current holdings, and what we can do I see we are leaving a shit ton of money on the table.

Father is absolutely right when he says we should improve the mine.

an extended mine complex on a rich mine adds a flat +6. that's insane.

advanced mine works DOUBLES that insanity.
Throw some smelters in the mix and you add a little [+1 population] but more importantly you make Silver artisans cheaper.

we could mine, process, and forge silver jewelry all in our own domain.
thats... thats such an obvious fucking move that it makes me think Maffew is utterly retarded for not bringing it up.

thats +16 [!] to wealth. add on a artisan holding and a guild and thats another +2.

repair the port and build a market and...

How the unholy fucking fuck has Maffew not mentioned this? did he catch syphilis from the whores hes been fucking?!

add a quarry, stone mason, and engineers and we will be primed to fuck things harder than a camp follower under Landon.

okay I did not know that. still 3d6 wealth is... hefty.

I have never really understood how a GoT game can become a cakewalk. There is ALWAYS someone bigger, badder, and out for your blood. Father seems to struggle with the transition from small isolated houses to middling prosperous houses.

though to be fair Brynden had covered his bases fairly thoroughly by marrying hot dornish spy wife.

I think the transition to one HF roll every two months is a positive one. And I like that Landon may never be a brilliant guy.
>>
>>1788803
To be fair we had the backing of VArys, Jon Arryn, the Dornish prince, and were getting along well with the heir to high Garden. We were also on pretty good terms with Oberyn.

Our only real "Enemy" on the great house/ great courtier front was the Queen, and we weren't really worth the hassle after Dontos ruined Boros Blount so utterly ad since kept our head down. That and the fact her Appointed watchdog of us was an utter fuck up spamming Green troops in exchange for fucking over everything else in his land helped, I'm sure.
>>
Putting everything to make a huge ass sept seems like somethibg landom would want to do and would probably be advised to not do by all our advisors
>>
>>1788843
true, but we were eventually going to turn the red bastard into paste. And Arryn was going to die. one would have drawn the queens eye, amd the other would have been a solid blow to our house.

especially as it became clearer that Arryns wife was batshit crazy.
>>
>>1788912
Yeah but that's YEARS away for him dying, and the red bastard getting pasted would happen well before that. Especially if we dropped our case of him being a slaver after we pasted him.

We still have Dorn and possibly high garden solidly in our corner by then, and might even have kept in the Vale leader's good graces (although I doubt it). The queen would quickly get far too busy with us to actually try and bully us, especially after the hiding we were about to put the Langford and Blounts through.

As for the war of five Kings? I'd have us beg that our forces are necessary to defend our horses which are the best in the crownlands and not really side with anyone. Just sit and wait while Dontos goes off crusading until a house is clearly winning our Dany and her army comes to wreck shit. Because I doubt after what happened with Robert's Rebellion Bynden would commit heavily to a bunch of assholes who either are utter cunts, charismatic as rocks, Northerners, GreyJoys, Or gayer than band of merry men.
>>
>>1788941
even assuming we dropped shit at the right time and in the right way and got all of the Royce lands and managed to pacify then into lawful holdings, we still would have had challenges.

Arryn and the Dornish were each pulling in the opposite directions. And if you think Varrys was dealing with us without any leverage behind his back then your a fool. At least one of the House secrets would get all of us killed our lands razed or given away and our nane trampled into the dust.

as for the war, Im almost certain Dontos would ask us to help Danny. regardless of how horribly dangerous that could be.
>>
>>1789040
>Arryn and the Dornish were each pulling in the opposite directions.

True but it didn't come to ahead, and that was because the elder Martell was not an idiot.

>And if you think Varrys was dealing with us without any leverage behind his back then your a fool.

His woman was our seneschal, of course he had all the dirt on us he could get.

>At least one of the House secrets would get all of us killed our lands razed or given away and our nane trampled into the dust.
What were those pray tell? The only secret he really had was the Red Door. Our house was fairly straightforward, mostly because we couldn't afford to back alley deal because we had everyone looking at us.

>Im almost certain Dontos would ask us to help Danny.
Who is a world away at best. We'd probably would declare for her if she made landfall but that is a long ass way away, and we'd need to get through the war of five kings first. And frankly NO ONE in war is great for us. You have the Royal lannister line, The faggot who was backed by high garden and the stormlands, the northerners with the riverlands, and the greyjoy assholes, and the man who betrayed the faith and has the charisma of a wet shit.

At this point he's barely a threat and more a lamb to the slaughter.
>>
>>1789108
He is still destructive. We shouldnt get careless. I bet Father never thought about letting our plan be "Let him burn out by himself"
>>
>>1789140
That's not our plan, but the idiot has actively tried to rip apart his ability to grow for more immediate power. He and Father both anticipated us hitting him immediately. Even when Brynden was in full sellsword form, he wouldn't have. Not because he did not want too, but because it was suicide. If he commits he wants to WIN in every sense of the word.

Granted he IS destructive, but if he loses his two closer and far more competent allies? He's now facing a slightly smaller but MUCH better trained army, with their ally or possibly even allies, with no resource base to keep his lands and army running.

Yes he has that wannabe magister backing him, but if he's a bad bet, he will get pulled so fast his head will spin.

Basically Byrnden has been slowly but surely eating away at his ability to be a threat, removing resources, lands, allies and revenue sources. It's been a slowly burning death for the Redward fool.
>>
>>1789108
maybe incompetent isnt the best word.

he was clearly making use of street gangs, criminal syndicate, slave market, saboteurs, and similar holdings. and considering his position and disposition was NOT a bad idea. It gave him the option of building a military very quickly.

And he could easily have become a threat again with the right alliances. Brynden was not loved by everyone. had it devolved into open warfare he could have sold captured regiments into slavery along with raiding bryndens populace to support his purchase of better trained mercenary units. supported by a house with supplemental troops and a better than average commander he could have set us back quite a bit.

do i think he would have won? almost certainly not. but it would have been a nasty brutal rat pit fight.

he would have been much better off assasinating our Uncle and son and buying plausible deniability

The issue is, no one will ally with him any more. He's a horribly unpleasant man, has a history of breaking his oaths, and his current allies find him impossible to work with. his lands are falling into ruin and we're clearly growing much faster and more surely than he is.

there should be more holidays in Weasteros than that. Every month in pre industrial Europe had a festival day for a saint or two. It's just recently that we started having less holidays than our ancestors. I'm guessing royal namedays have few months in acordance with the weird seasons., or they have 7

>>1789703
I mean, unless we start doing some big dick shit and start writting homer esq stories while revolutionizing the faith and how they do things they have no real reason to have saints
Maybe a baelor the blessed day but robert would probably crackdown on that shit

How does that help? We'd still need some way to build influence first
>>
>>1791027
you gain influence from winning tournements

we'd get the gold, the xp to level up Landon's spear specialty, and influence that can be converted to wealth
>>
>>1791040
Focus on learning other skills for the melee anon, we've been over this.
>>
>>1791052
Landon's already a beast in melee, cheapest thing to increase would be his endurance or his sword specialty

Comparatively, his animal handling is shit and 10xp for spears 1B would allow him to joust without losing 1D

Upgrading his fighting to 6 would be a very expensive but worthwhile investment that would affect all of our fights
>>
>>1791115
The level of people we'll be fighting in the joust and archery is comparable to the level we are in sword fighting. We can't get enough xp to bring up our enough of the skills needed for jousting or archery to the point of even giving us a chance of winning them. And Dad even told us not to count our chickens before they hatch for the melee.
>>
>>1791166
I wouldn't be surprised if Dad sends a fighter on par with us at Landon during the melee, which is why I mentioned upgrading his fighting stat.

Endurance could work as well so we can tank more damage

strength wouldn't effect melee considering we don't use a greatsword.

>So what parts make up the armor of the Faith?
Gauntlets - Smith
Cuirass - Mother
Helm - Father
Legs (Cuisse, greaves, sabaton, etc.) - Maiden
Arms (Pauldrons, gardbrace, vanbrace, etc.) - Crone
Sword/Shield - Warrior

They don't all have names yet, but that's the gist of it. No armour is the same, the pieces made specifically for the user. The gauntlets are the easiest, so that's why they're the first and are the most samey of all the pieces, after that they follow the above order. There are only three complete sets about the Seven Kingdoms, as far as is known at least since history before Aegon's Conquest can get sketchy. No one set is the same as the other, the Faith gathers the measurements, specifics of the user, etc. to craft a set that personifies the person and his specific devotion to the Faith.

So, to address this on the whole. I agree with a lot of the planning and thoughts going into this. I encourage it actually. But, you guys do need to be aware that you only get one Estate Wealth holding per Domain. The Silver Mine is your single estate holding for the single domain you own. You are allowed to upgrade it of course, but if you want more estate holdings, i.e. dogs, fishery, etc. you will need another estate. Such as the mountains to the north with the goat herd and... Well actually there isn't a lot of land about to claim, especially for a young Knight. You may have as many Domains as you have Status, thus 3.

Your Personage Wealth Holdings is 1 per every 10 influence you have, so at the moment you are allowed 3 of those. Such as the engineer, a steward, stonemason, master-at-arms, etc. You have zero presently.

You have room for 4 Settlement Wealth Holdings and 4 Lifestyle Wealth Holdings. These are your Abbey, Healing Site, Sept, & Port for the former and Festivals and Solar for the latter. You can get more of the former by building a hamlet, small town, etc. And you can get more of both by building Towers, Halls, etc. (i.e. the Dawntower).

You won't be getting discounts for any of the things that a castle just typically has. Investment in specific holdings just means you are putting the appropriate funds into a more trained individual, dedicated industry, and/or better-stocked locale(library, garden, solar).

>>1786014
Landon is actually more knowledgeable about the Faith than most common-born. He can tell you everything about the Seven aspects and isn't susceptible to fairytales and the like.

>Tolls are a cheap investment, with a nice pay
off whenever we roll for wealth. Might tick off the people that travel on our river though.
>>
A handful of people toll the Greatgorge, House Belmore cheifly among them from their island where the river splits into the Virgin River and the Westflow. House Lynderly, at the mouth of the river, a toll that is widely contested by House Corbray who believe the money is rightly theirs. House Harrock tolls the Westflow and the Westpass, the road that goes through the Mountains of the Moon. House Badics and Egen don't bother given the difficulty of the area to toll, so there's a great big stretch that no one really touches ripe for the picking, but it would ruffle some feathers if you did. Some of the other Houses of the region would not take kindly to the idea, nor would traders and merchants who have never had to pay a toll before. And then you have the issue of enforcing your tolls on the area. Which is difficult given your limited military, household, and chiefly your low law, there are many that would gladly steal away through your waters to avoid paying the toll.

>>1787225
The Dawntower looks roughly like that, it sits on a ridge in the Mountains of the Dawn. It does have a few chambers inside the stone beneath it though.

An Outpost or Tower by the Mine would be a sound investment. The former would be preferred by the men, such as Asher, given it would take significantly less time and caters more to the needs of the men, rather than a landed Knight or lord.

>>1787303
The only extra bit are the Moon Swallows camps inside of the tower. Anything from the Earp/Tollett days are long since gone.

>>1787485
They do stack, and it is cumulative. Because I don't feel like doing extra math.

>>1787572
I wondered if anyone would ever bring that up. That is one of the rare few times that I'll drop a requirement for a Holding. You can purchase the Septon without a Temple(Sept) or Chapel, just because of Landon's reputation.

However the Septon will often, and not low-key either, request a proper place of worship. Landon would prefer to get a Chapel at least, for his personal use. And then get a Sept or whatever else either. Also the Chapel is more attainable.

So yeah, don't worry about that. I'd rather the fluff take precedence over the crunch in this regard because that's just not fun nor playing to the character.

>>1788006
Actually, it doesn't. That was a misprint in OOSP, where for some reason the writer assumed the holding cost 15, rather than 10, in the corebook. There's an errata somewhere out there that mentions it. So yeah, Maester costs 10 Wealth.

>>1788240
>m'lord.
>implying Dontos would ever speak like a commoner

absolutelydisgusting.png
>>
>>1788454
Because it's unattainable, its not that Maffew hasn't thought about it or Lord Earp hadn't planned on it either. But the simple truth of it is, the House just doesn't produce enough money to get to the point where it is an option. And then there are worries about clansmen and other lawlessness about, which prevents Landon from being able to invest that way. No population to work or build it. The additional food costs that would come with bringing in workers and soldiers to guard it and enforce the law about the domain are also a concern. Also, >>1788712 is correct and I'm glad someone pointed that out, thank you.

>>1788473
That's actually an incredibly good idea. I like the fluff idea of it, would be an Artisan Craftsman for sure. Might even make up a new one with specific benefits, +1 Influence and Wealth maybe? Also to remind because you own the Smelter holding you get a -2 to the cost of the appropiate Artisan Craftsman, so that's helpful to keep in your back pocket.

>>1788509
Landon wouldn't be able to do that as he isn't a Lord. Lord Benedar Belmore could, but it isn't in his best interest given the Bordain scandal some odd years ago.

>>1788519
He is not a clever man but damn it if he doesn't want to do all of those things.

The tithe is his best thing Landon has going in regards to dealing with the Faith. If he wants to give a single more unit of raw silver to the Faith then he'll hit his maximum gain for Faith Points of 3 per every 2 months.

>>1788552
>Wieliczka treatment
>someone else knows what that is

I had actually laid the seeds for something similar in the first description of the silver mine. Just being the men that work there turning the depleted areas into barracks and living quarters. Eventually, they might go further with the fancy stuff. I could even make that a homebrew holding if the interest is there. Lifestyle Holding I think would be appropriate. That would be a really interesting thing to incorporate, including the people's growing Faith due to their liege's own would be a fun plot point to play with.

>>1788625
Yeah I honestly don't think it's possible within the timeframe of the quest. A Sept or Lavish Sept would be entirely possible, though difficult in both regards. Landon isn't going to have the possible incomes that Brynden did, I'd rather not have the Archery contest happen again, and I don't plan on any of his dowries being too large. Brynden and Obella were both pretty high profile people so the dowry made sense. Landon is not nor are any of his possible suitors.

>>1788735
Nahhh, not that. Just go find the old Earp sword.
>>
>>1788803
I think Landon and House Grallner will benefit a lot from my experience with House Malroy. But I think my biggest issue with the latter is that all of the best results that could have happened, happened. It wasn't a gradual build, it was immediate. Landon is not being afforded those same opportunities so the transition phase if there is one at all, will be a lot more gradual and difficult.

Plus Landon is an idiot and I don't really ever plan on writing him as anything ever more than. Even when he learns to read, it'll be focused on different things, such as learning his scriptures and devoting more of himself to the Faith in his learnedness.

>>1789432
Well, Landon did once know a Velaryon. Ser Jothos Velaryon, he was a friend of your uncle, Cyrol Grallner. They met during the War of the Ninepenny Kings and for a short while he lived in Whitestone Keep, though Landon hardly remembers him.

Either way, this >>1789439 would probably happen. And Landon doesn't really trust them anyway, as far as he knows they're just more loyalists.

>>1789470
Probably would. But if she swindled and talked her way into his good graces with talk of the Faith and played the innocent girl that just wanted to be taught the way of the Faith from a man of true devotion. Well... He might fall for it.

>>1789583
Huh. I didn't know that. I should incorporate that into Landon's character. I'll figure out some dates for those.

>>1789654
Oh it would be hysterical. There's a part of me that wants to do a mini crossover during the Greyjoy Rebellion. I mean he is my character, so I guess it wouldn't be difficult. More likely that Landon meets Dontos though... Ah who knows.

>>1790477
Robert's nameday would be celebrated with an annual Tourney and shenanigans for a fortnight in King's Landing. Of course all are invited, it just doesn't suit all to travel to the Crownlands for such every year.

>>1790502
I should fluff the three recorded Champions. I don't think I'd go so far as to make their namedays holidays. But might be something Landon just knows off the top of his head from his old Septon.

Anyway, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to continue and for the silence. Kind of fucked me there. I will be able to run in the afternoon on Monday however. I'll let you guys know the details tomorrow.

What'd you think about the analysis of Brynden and house malroy's situation?
>>
>>1788803
As someone who's run a GoT quest, I can provide some insights (of course, these are my personal opinions so it's possible other former/present QMs disagree):

-The first part of it is simple: the system and characters aren't built to surpass a certain level, but ARE built to, perhaps strangely, bring you to spitting distance of the upper limits fairly quickly.

Landon, for instance, has Fighting 5, Longblades 3. Congrats, he is, from first level, capable of fighting at the same tier as a member of the Kingsguard. Did I say "at"? I meant "Better." An average Kingsguard, by the game, is Fighting 5, Long Blades 2. Even Jaime Lannister, fabled master of the blade, is Fighting 7, Long Blades 4.

And sure, you could change the stats, buff up foes and stuff, but that takes a trained eye with the system to know how much is too far. If Father wants a Kingsguard to give you a challenge, and he just knocks up his fighting and agility, suddenly a good roll has 4 degrees of success, and he's looking at a one-hit KO for the character. Which leads to the next point.

-What is appropriate in a game versus what is appropriate in a novel. One of the central points of most games, at least in modern views, is that the game should have some level of fairness. You should be given the information to learn of threats to you, you should have a chance to resist or overcome them. Sure, in the books, Balon Greyjoy gets thrown off a bridge by a Faceless man, attacked while unarmed in his own home without warning. Which is fine for a side character in a novel.

But let's pretend it's A Song of Salt and Sorrow Quest - Chapter 45. After hours of peoples' invested time, the tragedy of the failed rebellion, the loss of your sons, and the rising promise of a bright return, your character gets ambushed and killed because your bastard brother you haven't seen in 20 threads paid off some fucks on the other side of the world. That's going to be EXTREMELY hard to write in a way that doesn't feel like a ham-fisted Rocks fall situation. Further, it may not even work, because of a quirk of THIS forum.

- What is fair to the GROUP. You and Father are not the only parties deciding Landon's future. It's a conversation with DOZENS of people participating. As such, it's very rare for things to be decided by a single roll. The "Best of three" rule that is endemic to /qst/, and the quests that came before, means that low-probability scenarios spring up more often, at a minimum tripling them.

All of this intertwines with other issues (e.g. the default reward structure is very character-friendly; fights tend to have death spirals, where the first palpable hit causes a fighter to either lose or accept a wound, which makes him more likely to get hit again; etc.) leading to first-time QMs walking in, saying "This all looks like it makes sense", and then encountering wild power spikes.

>>
>>1791935
And I don't remember. ugh. Sloppy of me.

I presume it's the damn triangular brackets, then.

But, yeah, Father reached out to make sure it was cool to use Bordain in the quest, so I decided to read it.

>>1789313
Fluffwise, the Stormlands are basically all militarized. There's no cities, just castles, keeps, towers, etc. It's got some shitty weather, constant bandits, and for centuries, war with Dorne.

So I assume there's plenty of devout men, of various faiths, and it's sort of informally agreed that no one rocks the boat in that regard, since it's better to trust your brothers in arms than get in a fight over WHICH God should stop this fucking squall.

What do you think of Landon and Brynden ?
>>
>>1792019
Yeah, it's kind of interesting how little it's come up. Like, Stannis and Davos are both Stormlanders, as is Brienne, and yet we've been told so little of their home kingdom.

Like, with Renly and Robert, I get it. They're more King's Landing people than Stormlanders. But you'd assume we'd have had more reflection from Davos, or 'I've endured worse that this" kind of memories from Stannis.

>>1792117
How do you mean?

As characters, I think they're great. It's fun to see how similar motivations and events play out with different characters and QMs. Bordain and Landon started from very similar roots, but are clearly heading in completely opposite directions. William and Bryndan are (or, at least, WERE, since I see I'm now THIRTY DAMN THREADS BEHIND on Malroy) both driven by a core of hate, that expressed itself in a recklessness from Brynden and an ever-present brooding from William.

It's also fun to just pop into other people's stories and make suggestions you can't in your own, or get inspired.

Like, I don't know what about it triggered it, but something in the first chapter of Landon's journey made me think of a potential battlefield unit/equipment that I wanna look at and consider: The idea is essentially 2' by 6' tower shields with alternating patterns of spikes and holes, to be used to construct very simple fortifications. Slam 6 into the ground forming a right angle, drop 3 shields on top so the top spikes piece the holes, impromptu 6' by 6' wall section with cover.

A unit of 36 men forms a 12' by 12' bunker. Pair them with a unit of archers, and you're looking at a unit capable of creating a medieval pill box in around 6 minutes.

The problem is, well...12' by 12' isn't actually all that much. That's usable by what, 12 archers? maybe 20 with some alternating ranks options?

On the other hand, they could be useful in essentially dividing enemy troops, creating artificial bottlenecks to defend behind.
And if we build in arrow gaps, then we can use fewer shield bearers. And we can streamline it, since very rarely in medieval warfare is 360 degree cover useful. So if the unit of 'constructors' IS the unit of archers, where they arrive, plant their shields forming a 4' high wall with 6' high sections every 12 feet, and take up positions, does THAT seem more impressive...?

It's just nice to have the mental juices flowing again. My current life situation isn't one that really promotes creativity.

Biggest problem with the fort is how archers fought in period. In movies they always show them making arcing shots, which the historical record doesn't support. They'd be firing straight on at enemies, so that their bodkins would hit at the best angle. Of course, that presumes that our opponents are well armored, which the mountain clans definitely aren't.

To modify your idea, we'd have to make the fortifications slightly ahead of time. No matter how strong a guy is, he's not gonna be able to jam a stake into the earth for any depth in one swing. Instead, the pavises could be supported by two hinged legs on the back. Place a few sandbags behind the legs to make sure they don't slide back. Now, these pavises wouldn't be as big as you're picturing, probably only 4 feet tall. This would still provide ample cover to the archers from thrown spears and axes, and we could save money by not equipping them with leg harness.

A major problem with using pavises as a fort is their relative instability. Compared to stakes driven into the ground and actual walls, they'll get knocked over easily. No ground would fit well with it sadly. Thick topsoil, like in the Reach would be easy to drive into, but would provide little resistance to toppling over. The stony frozen soil of the Vale wouldn't let you set them in it, you'd hit rocks after a few inches.

Mobile forts were a thing, in the form of Hussite wagons. Not really suited for our lands, though they'd be great in the Reach where cavalry is a major part. You can't break a wagon fort with heavy cavalry, you have to swamp them with infantry.

>The "Best of three" rule that is endemic to /qst/, and the quests that came before, means that low-probability scenarios spring up more often, at a minimum tripling them.
I hate that so much. Ruins the challenge too much for my taste. Even if QMs correct for it by giving opponents Bo3 too, you've still got all the static DCs to deal with.

I, in general, need to do a 'Landon not understanding how trade works whatsoever' scene. Have Maffew attempting to put together some new trade agreements and Landon just wanting to give more to the Faith and being done with it. I actually have to frame those entirely differently so that Landon isn't making the big smart decisions but rather is given options and plans arranged by Maffew. There are a few Houses that would do business with the Grallners but it's difficult getting ahold of them.

>>1791516
That it's fairly accurate. On both sides.

>>1791762
I agree with the majority of this analysis. But at the same time, I believe it falls to me to provide a challenge in a way that the character cannot beat with just his fists or talking his way out of it. Whereas Landon is an absolute monster on the battlefield, off the field we have established that he just isn't a clever man and doesn't care for diplomacy. As such his first real enemy is a saboteur, a traitor that is using all of his weaknesses and those that he counts as his strengths against him. Which is providing a proper challenge for Landon to face.

Likewise, Brynden's major challenge is that he cannot be reckless or act in his nature, lest he piss off those above him that can do something to hurt him. He has to curtail his pride and ego and accept his punches so that someday he might finally get his chance to take his revenge. Sure he can silver tongue his way out of quite a few situations and knows how to fight with the best of them but he knows to protect his most prized possession, his Family, he has to play ball and that is his challenge.

But yeah, most of /tg/ and now /qst/ likes to play a fighter, so in general, it feels like the MC is just breaking the game. So the fighting bits always have this overwhelming sense of brokenness. If we conversely played a character with a lot of social skills you'd get that feeling that there isn't a single thing you couldn't negotiate for. The system is incredibly broken, which is hysterical to play with but it does cause these sorts of issues.

I know Page remembers the first time he used siege equipment and it just RUINED the Bloodsmiths, Elite Personal Guards. The game is just weird sometimes.

A side note, I also believe it is in line with the setting for there to be comparable fighters if not better fighters than the Kingsguard at any given point in history. Just isn't possible for every man to join the ranks of the Kingsguard. So there should be a few of them floating about Westeros. Such as Landon, William Bordain, Vickon Blackett. I'm sure there are plenty of others, especially in the Vale right now.

That's typically how I play the Stormlands, majority Seven, sprinkling of whatever, don't ask don't tell otherwise. House Benedorn, my real life group House, is a Stormlander House and generally, that's how it goes.

>Father reached out to make sure it was cool to use Bordain in the quest
And what a joy it will be.

>>1792184
>It's also fun to just pop into other people's stories and make suggestions you can't in your own, or get inspired.
Agreed. I love playing other GoT quests just for this reason.

>>1792229
>Mobile forts were a thing, in the form of Hussite wagons. Not really suited for our lands
I think they could serve purpose in our lands. But only if Landon invested in the road from the Whitestone to the mine. But for the Reach they would be a crazy good custom unit. I might try to throw something together for it. Research time.

Anyway, to respond to the idea, I think a Heavy Infantry unit that has an Engineer built Fortifications could produce a similar effect for mass combat? Maybe purchase some pavises? I'm not sure, I think it's interesting and would like to play with it. Though it's hard to do something like that in Landon's domains given how damn mountain-y they are.

>>1792412
I see it as a necessary evil. But I have been dealing with it a variety of different ways. Such as Landon's rolls for Fighting being for multiple mooks to just steamroll through them.

The more difficult rolls I tend to allow the Bo3. For House Fortunes I do Bo3 because that table is pretty random. I believe the quest format makes the Bo3 more of a necessity because often characters aren't driven by the players, not so much as a normal table top at least, but the QM taking the story in a particular direction and then such rolls coming up more often than not. If the players fail an action they didn't have as much say in I find they have a less than favorable reaction.

It's an incredibly difficult thing to play correctly. But I believe I can more appropriately give you guys a challenge within the quests because my DCs move about a lot and I don't mind handing out + and -'s . I see the challenge in different aspects for Landon as well.

>>1792419
Am I? Because I definitely didn't mean to, or think I was. I've told you where the old Earp sword is, with the family that Trevor lost it to in his final Trial as Champion.

Well assumedly, that is the last place Landon would assume it would be. There's something in the Dawntower ruins but definitely not the sword, do you really think I'd just give you the sword for 3 Lands and a little bit of a Law reduction?

>>1793802
Either or, but I was rather fond of Lord Vickon Blackett. And making pic related, which I don't think I ever shared with you, though we did talk about having a shared link between the Houses way back when.

In other news, I'm considering some different clothing options for Landon during his off time. A Gambeson in navy blue seems like his style, both form and function too.
>>
>>1794545
Gambeson's are incredibly hot, it wouldn't be bad outside, but in his castle it'd be toasty

nah, just wearing a gambeson isn't super hot unless it has full sleeves, in which case it's like a heavy jacket. Even though Landon is a landed knight, I doubt he can afford to heat his castle to modern standards during the Vale winter. A nice jacket would probably be welcome anywhere except the kitchen and dining hall

It's once you get a brig, helm and leg harness on that you start to get really hot. The plate makes heat transfer near impossible where it covers.

first thing that comes to mind as mobile fortifications are Cheval de frise. They're basically a log with four rows of spikes places at right angles along it's length. They'd be best against cavalry, but it seems like the Moon Swallows' tactics consist of head on charges when not instructed by the traitor.

Another option would be Gulyay-gorods carried by pack horses or mules. They'd have to be made much smaller than the ones used by the Russian armies, so that we weren't dependent on wagons to transport them. They'd stop any arrows coming head on, but arcing shots could still hurt anyone behind them. Thankfully, arcing shots have less power behind them than straight ones, and some wide brimmed kettlehats could deflect any that land on their heads

Given enough time, gabions could provide good protection and act as temporary walls. Like a lot of defenses these, they'd work best in the Reach. Our access to the soil needed to fill them is heavily limited by our location and the season. They're light enough that our men could carry them easily through the mountains while empty.

Unrelated to mobile defenses, forts like an Ostrog are cool. People discount the effectiveness of wooden forts, but they were much more common than full stone castles. After we get the shepherds' lands, we could use some of the timber on them to construct one.

and a cheval de frise, because I realize I didn't describe it that well. The stakes could easily be spread among the men, while a log could be carried by a team or locally sourced at the battlefield.

The romans had an effective method of making hedgehogs that we could steal, each legionary would carry a large wooden stake that is sharpened at both ends. The stake is carve from a larger piece of wood into two long pyramid shapes with a handle at the center. Three of the stakes could be tied together so that they look like a Czech hedgehog. These hedgehogs could then be tied together in a jumble of rope(possibly covered with fishing hooks to further deter wading through itbonus points if you know what book I stole this idea from). I'm drawing a blank on the name of them, if I can find it I'll post a pic

god, I want the mine upgrades so bad I can taste them.

but they arent immediately useful.

our lord will want to know what the hell we are doing and we had damned well better have some progress to report. If I were Landon's lord I would be seriously considering marrying the Earp girl off to a competent lord and placing Landon back under them as a landed knight.

I say we take half the archers, half the infantry, and all the cavalry and knights.

we know at least one place the Moon Swallows are sure to be, or have been.

the goat herding village.

we gave our word as man and lord we would help those poor fucks, and weve done jack shit. I say we travel with all haste and kill whatever remains with a moon on its head.

if we are hysterically lucky there will be some people and goats alive. we arent that lucky. but the dead at least deserve what rest the mother can give, and the comfort of the warriors vengeance.

plus less moon swallows means more law and perhaps a pittance of wealth.

and infinitely more important the good will of our lord at strongsong.

Also begining the Bailiffs holding would help with law and eventually double as a trained garrison unit. And we would be abke to say, "yes there are problems, but I am fixing them".

also Maffew is either a traitor or the stupidest person alive. letters from our lord go unread for months. supplies disappear without his knowledge. he doesnt follow up on anything!

And when someone who knows more than him comes along, instead of getting their advice like a normal person he sweats bullets and avoids him.

He is almost certainly fucking Jeyne Stone. And she is probably the mastermind. all it would take is reading his letters.

Just a quick response to this as I'm on break.

Not going to punish you guys for not really doing anything to help the goat village because it's entirely my fault for forgetting to move that plot point further. Trevor was suppose to have a letter from the village that was sent by one of your scouts the rest of the scattered remnants of them. I forgot to do that so I'll bring it up next.
>>
Your thumb fiddles with the strap that kept your long blade in its harness. A part of you considers just going to Ser Trevor, demanding answers, the heat in your temples boils for a moment even at the thought of it but as you walk you decide against the thought. You had grown tired of be bounced about like a child’s plaything, being lied to, mislead, fought at every corner. Your mind ached like a muscle that had sat dormant for far too long. The moment you enter the great hall you find a few of your guards and send them to fetch the majority of your Household. Ser Trevor Trant, Maffew Shett, Lady Jeyne Stone, and Lady Wylla Earp all to be in the great hall within five minutes, you make your way there and a heavy foot clears those few servants about doing their work for the day. The room falls to silence barring the winter winds and crackle of the few fireplaces kept alight.

Ser Trevor Trant is the first to arrive, and you find yourself stiffen when he comes to you and bows, the sword upon his side locked in place, but his armor fully worn. You look about and take the moment to ask the elder Knight a single question, “Trevor, read this for me.”

The Stormlander reads the note over, aloud but mumbled and screws his face up when he finishes, turning it over a few times before handing it back, “Is this some sort of cruel joke?”

“How do you mean?”

“I do not write like that. Those weapons and uniforms were stolen, under Maffew’s watch because he cannot remember that my signature is the entirety of my name and title? And then I was lied to about it-” he’s cut off by Maffew entering, thankfully far more clothed than he had been before.

He leans in close to your ear, “I am not a traitor Landon, my honor stands before that,” Trevor mumbles and gives the paper back to you, taking his seat. You wait a while longer in the deathly silence, you assume ten minutes have gone by and grow impatient, the women taking far longer than you had desired. Impatience grows into annoyance and you decide to begin without them.

“Someone in this House has betrayed me,” you start simply, “Whether it be for power, another, spite I cannot say but what I do know is that I have lost good men to war, taken before their time. By godless heathens and turncloaks no less. Neither of you stand accused of this crime. But I have grown tired and weary of the questioning, of the fighting, of the lies and deception. We will end this tonight,” you finish and wave to your guards who bar the doors shut.

Trevor and Maffew exchange looks, the former speaking first, “Why are we bothering, it is clearly Maffew, the rat bastard has been envious of your position for years. He’s the only one that could fake the reports, forge a letter and rely upon your inability to read to keep him safe. Ser Cador saw right through him, and so do I, so do all of the men.”
>>
Maffew puffs himself with anger, “I would never! Let us not forget who the old bitter, broken Knight is here. The man forgotten by the old Earp, replaced by the rising star of untempered ambition, the old man with nothing left to lose. Who thinks it should have been him. I remember you losing the sword Trevor, your resentment towards being replaced and that blow to your ego will never leave. You know well as I that the Earp men are only loyal because they are loyal to you, and we both see how that ended up didn’t we?”

“So I would kill Marston for it!?” Trevor roars back standing and jabbing his finger into Maffew’s face, “I’d sooner kill you than any one of my men! You hid when they came to the Whitestone, you cowered, you forgot your loyalties just as Lord Earp had. What’s to say you haven’t now?”

Maffew goes to respond the two of them saving stood up and gotten into one another faces, but you stop them with a roar, “ENOUGH!” your voice echoes in the empty great hall you can feel the heat upon your temples as you rise and stare down the two men you trusted the most, “Enough with this bickering or by the Seven I so swear you will both see justice done. I will not have you two at each other’s throats like children. Is this understood?”

The two take a moment longer to stare at one another before they both relent and nod, taking their seats again.

“Good,” you state gravely before turning to the doors and addressing the guards that had entered, “Where are the women?”

“We can’t find ‘em m’lord. Lady Earp’s chambers are empty, Lady Stone’s too. And… And we found a body, one of the servant girls, cook’s daughter, Mel I think? Found it with half a dozen stab wounds in Lady Stone’s apartments. We already ‘ave the men looking, they ain’t ‘bout the yard or at the chapel neither. Done disappeared far as we can tell, a thousand apologies m’lord. We-” he stops when Asher Harp comes from behind him placing a hand on his shoulder.

“I think they fled m’lord,” Harp says, “Or were kidnapped, or something. But… Yeah, things have gone sideways.”

Trevor breathes heavily, Maffew looks at his shoes and you can feel the vein upon your temple ready to burst.

"Maffew, when I came to the Maester's Tower, I passed by a person in hoods and robes, their face obscured from me. Who was visiting you?"

"Ain't no point in lying," Trevor says with a sniffle, getting a glare from the steward in response.

"I would not lie to Landon," Maffew says in retort, "Lady Stone, she had visited."

Trevor chortles, "Visited."

Maffew's eyes burn as he stares at Trevor, "Do not imply that you did not have your own tryst with the girl. Some bloody worth your honor is."

Asher runs his hands down his face in frustration.

>Did (either of) you ever leave her alone with your papers?

"I want the truth, from both of you," you state sternly.

"She... Uh... Stayed the night, a few times," Maffew stutters out, "I am a heavy sleeper. But... She has told me she can not write nor read. I... Seven forgive me I am a blind fool of a man."

"I always shooed her away before she was noticed in the barracks," Trevor says, "I caught her playing with a dagger from the armoury once and banished her without thought later."

"So the of ya are fucking idiots," Asher yells throwing his arms up in the air, "Like it or she was using ya. Probably using me, the cook, the fucking turncloaks, by the bloody Seven the fucking Moon Swallows for all I know with her ragged cunt. Be lucky we don't all have the same fucking pox."

You hard stare at the northman who is overflowing with the level of anger that you wish you could articulate yourself but he silences himself all the same.

“I want the castle on high alert,” you say, “Lock down every gate, every door. Everything. Take your ‘Bowmen with the few Scouts we have left and search the premise thoroughly. Check the stables as well, if there are any horses missing I want to know about it. I do not want so much as a mouse to escape your notice Asher, is this understood?”

“Yes Ser,” Asher says with a nod.

“Landon, I wish to join my men-”

“Those men are my men Ser Trevor,” you say cutting him off, turning your gaze to him, “And you will address me as Ser.”

“My apologies, Ser,” Trevor says his face a grimace, “I simply wish to aid the men if you will allow it. To atone for my wrongs.”

“I would like to help as well,” Maffew Shett offers.

“No,” you say shaking your head, “No. Both of you have done enough, you will relinquish your weapons, your plate. And the both of you will be held under lock, key, and guard until we can assure your loyalties and are certain neither of you are guilty. These guards will be the new men, those loyal to me and only me. Mayhaps some time alone will allow the two of you to think upon your misdoings, the wrongness of your giving into base desire, and pray for forgiveness from the Seven. But do not offer a prayer for my own forgiveness, you have broken my trust, the both of you, and it wounds me so. Guards.”

The beginning few of the Household Garrison approach and Trevor looks down at the floor in shame, unbuckling his sword belt and unhitching the straps that kept his breastplate on. Maffew produces a small dagger and averts his eyes. Neither offering a fight. Both shamed.

You take in a deep breath, thumb fiddling with the strap for your longsword, “You have your orders, all. Send Ser Bryen and Ser Michel to me, we will be searching the Lady’s rooms, with any luck we will find something of value.”

The men scatter and you stomp out of the great hall, Asher Harp sprinting ahead of you yelling his orders off to the ‘Bowmen and Garrison. The cavalrymen go to the main gatehouse, keeping it the most heavily guarded while the rest fan out throughout the empty and vast halls of the Whitestone.”

---

Ser Michel and Ser Bryen Belmore are quickly to your side as you storm the tower that the Ladies called their home. The two Knight armed in gameson with their blades drawn follow after you into their chambers, only a guard remains, standing over the dead body of the cook’s daughter.

“No woman should ever be murdered so brutally,” Ser Bryen says as he kneels over her body, “May the Stranger guide you to the Seven Heavens my lady.”
>>
Michel is looking about the room, sniffing every few seconds and then sneezing loudly, “Bloody perfumes...” he mutters going on about an allergy or some such as he turns over a few boxes and throws off the sheets to the bed.

The room is pristine save the body and the ever growing puddle of blood that has ruined the carpets already. You mentally note the need to speak with the cook yourself later, to offer apologies and taking solace in the Faith during these hard times. A part of you blamed yourself for this death, for Marston’s as well, for all of them. If only you hadn’t been so blind. You pull yourself from self inflicting thoughts and look about the room. You don’t really know what you should be looking for in truth. Clues? Evidence? Of what? This was your brother’s forte, they could sniff… Well, you were loathe to admit what they could produce from thin air within the minute. But all the same you join the search about the room for… Something.

I'm just mad at chargen we kept useless stuff instead of just putting one more into language to read
>>
>>1796918
you drop one to get an extra destiny point, not extra XP. We don't meet the requirements for most of the mental specialties either

plus a one makes you retarded. Bran has a one in Agility and Hodor has a one in cunning.

I coulda sworn you could drop a stat for to re-arrange stats. Like, I'm talking AT chargen anon, like set one to one and have an extra point.

You can to get 50xp, but again, it makes you retarded. If we dropped thievery, we'd probably have had the tendons in our hands sliced like Catelyn Stark. It's not worth it

I'd thought you were talking about getting another flaw, which gives you a -1D to a stat.

>Critical Failure

Try as you might you cannot find a single item of worth or value in this room. Every drawer filled with Lady’s things or trinkets that evade your comprehension. You can feel frustration setting in, and upon occasion slam a drawer too heavily or break a knob attempting to open another. The final straw is when you find yourself caught amidst a woman’s dress hung by the window the old Earp colors causing you to literally see red for a few moments before it is torn off and you throw it from the window the yellow, red, and black falling to the snow beneath…

---

His breath was ragged, face red, his beady little eyes danced about the Rotunda in horror as he attempted to find a way to free himself. Your armour felt heavy as you stalked the man, his scream echoed in your helm whenever he would push away only to scramble about like an overweight rat upon the floor and snow, the bright colors of his clothing turning to ruddy mess with blood, piss, and shit.

“LANDON GRALLNER I ORDER YOU TO KILL THESE MEN! YOU WILL STOP THIS NOW! REMEMBER YOU LOYALTIES! REMEMBER YOUR BLOODY LOYALTIES!”

“I know where my loyalties lie,” you say, voice harsh filled with built anger and disdain. Butcher you were called. Dog. Murderer. Honor-bound foll to a brutish coward.

The cut across his eye has obscured his vision, his skin turns pale from the lost blood. You draw upon him as he reaches the lever. The eight planks are deployed, each with a Knight loyal to Lord Arryn, sent to relieve Lord Emmerst Earp of his duties as Lord in his defiance. The rest of the army laid beneath the Whitestone. He had brought them into the Keep under false pretenses, promises of a parley that turned to broken guest rights, he lied and used you as his arm in this deception. In this affront to the Faith. It broke you. After so many years your loyalty was broken.

“Not another step Landon,” he sneers, wrapping his body around the lever, “You will remember yourself. Your loyalties and stop this foolishness immediately or I will kill them. I swear it.”

You stop short, eyes cast about the room to the eight hooded men with nooses about their necks.

“Good. Good,” he says shaking his head, “Put down the sword. Cease this foolishness and all will be forgiven.”

You nod, slowly placing your sword upon the ground, the heavy clunk of your shield following thereafter and your sallet last, “Please,” you say.

>>
Lord Earp struggles to his feet, wiping away the blood from across his face, turning it into a smear across the rest of his fat face, he smiles at you, the smile turning into a laugh a high pitched wheezy thing. He sucks in air and licks his lips as he looks upon you.

“You are a dog,” he says, “A tool to be used. Do not forget yourself Landon Grallner. And remember, always remember that you caused this.”

He pulls the lever, the planks drop with a heavy thud across the Rotunda, the noise spiraling around you. You can hear their breath catching as each falls. The heat upon your temples become an inferno and your voice a roar of pain, anger, hatred, “NOOOOOOOOO!”

---

“Landon,” Michel says, crouched next to you by the window, “Landon, please Ser come back to me.”

Your eyes feel heavy, your gaze upon the House Earp tapestry still hung upon the wall. Your arms hang limply at your sides and your breath uneven and unmeasured, you feel drained as if the entirety of the day had come upon you at once.

“Ser?”

“I am fine,” you state shaking your head and pulling yourself to your feet again, “Did either of you find anything?”

Michel bites his lip and nods towards Ser Bryen, “A letter. Was addressed to you, seal was the House Earp eagle.”

Ser Bryen had taken the liberty to break it, reading it silently to himself as you approach he offers it to you before attempting to save the maneuver sloppily and just grunting and clearing his throat, “It’s from the little girl,” he says.

“Read it.”

“I would sooner not read most of it Ser,” he says frowning deeply, “If you’ll forgive me. But… She finishes with another note of wishing for your death and saying that the goat herder elders will be returned to their home if you do not follow her. She has taken leave as your hostage and is going to Crow’s Barrens.”

“I do not know that place,” you respond.

“House Back’s lands to the northwest,” Michel offers, “Long standing enemies of the Sisters. Right cunts if you ask me.”

“Either way,” Bryen says folding the letter up, “There is a single line of text at the bottom, different hand. It says simply, ‘Remember your first.’ Does that mean anything to you Ser?”

“It… No, not at the moment,” you say with a hard breath, “I wish to be rid of this room. Let us see how the search goes elsewhere.”

“Of course,” Bryen says placing the letter in his breast pocket and following after you to the yard beneath.

You can hear the string of curses before you even get to the stables and two of the ‘Bowmen very quickly leave the stables as you enter. Asher Harp is pacing back and forth with his hands upon his hips, sucking in air quickly and muttering to himself.

“They took my fucking horse!” he exclaims, throwing up his arms and pulling at his hair, “Two more of the others. Left Warrior and Trevor’s horse, neither would let ‘em near I know it. Damn it all to hell.”

“Did the main gate guard see anything?”

“From what I understand no,” Asher says, “Fucking Seven knows what sort of slips and hidden nooks are about the Whitestone. What sort of secret paths to the mountains only an Earp would know. Fucking Seven Hells. I was close, I was so damn close.”

You can feel the rest of your light beginning to drain, the day only continuing to grow darker and feeling like more of a struggle with every step, the wind howls around you. There was a real weight upon your shoulders, and it grew with every step.

“Only Marston and the old Earp men would know where to find them,” Asher says, shaking his head, “That’s why she had them killed. I… Fucking Hells Landon, what has happened?”

You shake your head, not truly knowing the answer, “I’ve… I’ve lost my trust. My hold upon the Whitestone. The… The only thing I have left is my Faith and I search as I might through it, I find no answers for this.”

Asher remains silent and the two of you stand in still silence for a moment, neither knowing the true answer here. A wetness upon your hand awakens you from your stupor, Benny’s nose seeking your hand for comfort, or to offer his own. You wish to smile but your face feels of stone as you bend down to pet the dog, “I still have you though.”

Asher turns his head and tilts it to the side a moment, “Landon, what’s he sniffing at?”

With a confused look you pull a scrap of skirt from your vambrace and hold it aloft, Benny continues to sniff at it, his tail wagging and be barks and sniffs the ground.

Asher laughs and claps his hands together, “Oh Seven above you are truly shining upon us today. Go on Benny, find the scent, do your damned good work as a tracker.”

The two of you watch as Benny circles about the stable, stopping at a gate for a moment and then turning around, shaking his head and running off to the door with a single bark. The two of you share a brief look and then scramble to follow after.

“Benny! Benedict slow down!” you yell after your dog as he disappears into the snow.

Ser Landon Grallner’s Hunt:
DC: 12
Rolls: 13,12,10
>Success, One Degree

The two of you give chase through the bleak white of the storm that barrels down upon Whitestone Keep. Benny’s distant bark continues in intervals as you run across the yard, past the chapel, past the old stones, through what was once the Lady’s sitting garden and to an open expanse with a chest high wall of stone and mortar that separated you from the sheer drop into the Mountains of the Dawn below. Benny has stopped and is pacing back and forth across the wall, sniffing about before he finally reaches a point that he likes, plops down and howls. You stand on tipped toes to look over the wall, puzzled and confused.

“Did he lose the scent?” you ask.

Asher frowns and shakes his head, “No m’lord. Look,” he says pointing behind the two of you to the tower that sat beyond the wall. The second tallest tower of the Whitestone. Where you grew up. Where your father still lived within its lofts. And upon its peak hung the banner you had wished stricken from your mind. The red, yellow, and black of the House Earp coat of arms, flowing in defiance where your standard once flew in the thick winter winds.

Your voice is a whisper, lost upon the winds, but filled with dread, “No.”

---

Asher is two steps ahead of you as the both of you clamor up the spiral staircase, a few of your guards had taken up behind you as you take the stairs two at a time. Your muscles ached, the weight of your plate threatening to pull you back at any moment. Between labored breaths you find time to offer prayer, to keep the mind from straying to dreaded thought. He reaches the door first, his bow half cocked within his hands as he presses up against it, the moment you’re in sight he nods and bursts through with a heavy shoulder and draws it to full length, “NOT A STEP JEYNE!”

You reach a moment after, Benny by your side, barking and coming to heel with a growl as you unsheathe your longsword and point it towards her. The woman known as Lady Jeyne Stone stands over your sleeping father, a dagger hung in her hands, her back to you. She is wearing the colors of House Earp, a dress three sizes too large for her slight frame, though too short at the knees, surely it must below to the plump little Earp girl. Your eyes go towards the dagger, and it is clean, no blood dripped upon the floor and you are thankful.

“Turn around Jeyne, slowly,” Asher says, “Put the knife on the table and sit.”

She looks over her shoulder, and the eye widens, the whole of her body turns, hands holding aloft as she does as Asher had ordered. With slow step she moves towards the table and places the dagger upon it and sits quietly. Your father remains asleep throughout.
>>
>>1797055
dont be an ass, the earp girl was probably kidnapped
>>
>>1797064
god please don't use that as an excuse to kill a child. She's nine, for fuck's sake dude
>>
Asher motions his arrow towards you and she looks at you, the normal impassive and scared eyes of the young woman turned to you in full defiance. A part of her looks like the hatred that Wylla Earp often looked at you with. The guards stuff the doorway after you, their shortswords half drawn and at the ready as you take the tentative few steps towards her sword held in her direction.

>What to ask Lady Jeyne Stone?
As always you have a limit of 3 questions, to be agreed upon by the group before Landon must take action.

In other news Anon's suggestion just drastically changed how I did this scene.

So as to not waste anyone's time, and completely breaking character at the same time it was her Anon. She was the traitor. Let's play the character, yeah? No cunning. And then I'd make you roll a Bluff check which Landon would fail miserably against Jeyne's passive.

Anyway, looks like:
>Where is Wylla?
Is the real obvious one.
>Who is the third?
Looks popular as well.

Third question is sort of all over there. Might need to hold a vote unless we can come to an agreement.

>>1797104
the most supported question is probably why kill my dad. Because the rest are either dumb, or have obvious answers
>>
>>1797094
I doubt she held the knife, at best she's an accomplice and very well could just be following Jeyne's orders. The girl's just nine, I doubt she's the mastermind in this. It could have been orchestrated by our nemesis to marry her off to the family in the three sisters. With no declared heir, and a husband loyal to the crown, they would have a good claim to whitestone
>>
>>1797112
>after Dad says, yes she's the traitor

I really hope you wrote that before updating... I'm losing faith in my fellow anons here

Seeing as "Why?" and "Why my father?" both have the same exact response I suppose I'll just go with both, sort of.

>Where is Wylla Earp?
>Who is the third?
>And why? Why my father?

All in agreeance?
>>
>>1797104
just one question to ask really.

why?

>>
>>1797126
she killed Mel the cooks daughter because Mel was her go between with the traitors, and through the traitors the Moon Swallows.

Yes I understand that, I'm tired and I think most of you are morons. I misread, sorry
>>
>>1797130
We wont know until we find them. But I suspect that no, she is not. A child can be bundled against the snow, and if her guide has a decent survival skill she could probably make it. Stone might also have felt.... with some justification it seems, that Landon would kill her.

>>
If it comes to a vote, I think Wylla should live.

Children are innocent and all that. Its just not his character, especially considering all the killing hes been forced to do.

but its not being voted on yet, so stop arguing over the internet.
>>
>>1797137
You executing a child who was used as a political tool would be stupid.
>>
>>1797138
Rickard killed two captives who were not only promised by the King to be kept safe, but were also not guilty of any crimes. IF Wylla is proven to be involved in these murders and treason it would be a different situation. Besides do you really think people children aren't held accountable for their crimes in westeros? Just imagine all the kids in Kings Landing with hands chopped off for theft.

>>1797145
If she had nothing to do with the crimes we have no reason to execute her.
>>
Your steps take your within arm’s length your sword merely inches away from her nose, she looks at your eyes, never taking them off to the threats around her.

“Where is the girl?”

She tsks, “So typical of you. Here I stand with a blade in hand ready to murder your father and the only thing you can think about are the Earps. Suppose old loyalties don’t die, hm?”

“Where. Is. She,” you repeat.

Jeyne rolls her eyes and crosses her arms, “In the Mountains, no doubt. Did you know the Earp’s had an old escape route through them? I surely didn’t. I didn’t see where they took her though, insurance I was told. In case… Well in case this happened. Not that it mattered, you wouldn’t even torture a clansmen, let alone a defenseless woman,” she says with a sickening sweetness in her voice, before she perks up,” Oh! Did you get her letter?” she smiles at you though places a hand over her mouth, mocking shame, “Oh I am so very sorry, didn’t have anyone to read it to you now that they’re locked up in the towers. Should I?”

“Crow’s Barrens,” you say, “House Back. But who.”

“My brother, her future husband. Shame I’ll miss the wedding now… Hm… Well half brother rather, since my true brother is dead, you remember him, yes?”

Your mind turns, too slowly to process her words and you ask, “Who is the third? Who led a girl to her death in the dead of winter?”

She scoffs, “A scout and an archer. I never caught their names, just old veterans too fed up with the new world and looking for relief, purpose, duty in the old. So easy to manipulate with a smile and a kiss. You’d be surprised,” she smiles and then rolls her eyes with a sigh, “Never worked on you though. Seven guarded chastity belt wearing boy.”

“Are there more?”

She ticks off her fingers, “Sorry love, think you killed most of them now. If you haven’t, they’ll fight now, nothing like a good call to arms,” she finishes with a whisper, her eyes darting towards the window where the Earp banner flies from. Asher looks back and your two guards are standing resolute, at least your loyal men were still with you.

You sigh with frustration, your sword dipping slightly toward her breast, “Why? Why do this? Why try to kill my father? I… I treated you well, better than that boar of a man Lord Earp. Why would protect his spawn?”

She scoffs and leans back, tilting her head with a look of confusion, “You don’t understand at all, do you Landon? It was never about the girl. About the Earps. They’re just tools. Like you were when you took your first.”

Her eyes dart towards the table and her hand lashes out as she kicks the table away from her and into your groin causing your sword to drop and allowing her just a moment to stand and turn and raise her dagger towards the sleeping man.

Asher Harp’s response
DC: 12
Rolls: 15,22
Success, Two Degrees.
Success, Three Degrees.

You double over in pain, your sword arm dropping and the long sword clattering on the stone floor. You can see your father jump, turning over slightly his eyes half lidded as he is rudely pulled from his slumber. Your voice catches in your throat, you wished to scream as he regards the situation with little more than impassive misunderstanding. The dagger looks to fall upon his exposed chest before Jeyne Stone is stopped dead in her tracks, an arrow having flown just by your ear and piercing her arm. The dagger drops to the floor in a clatter as your father begins to realize what is occurring and looks about scared and confused, screaming for his guards. You turn slightly to see the determined look of Asher Harp as he draws another arrow and notches it with such speed you could never even dream to achieve, the second arrow is drawn and without more than a mere thought it streaks across the room, jostling your hair as it passes by and strikes Jeyne Stone in the neck.

You can hear the hard crunch of bone on stone as Jeyne falls to her knees, even over the hysterical yelling of your father, her hands reaching helplessly to her throat the blood beginning to fall from where it surely hit an artery. She turns to you, and you can see the last of the life drain from her grey eyes.

---

“Jason Stone, shall be my champion,” the man says. You hardly regard the thin placid man.

“And Ser Landon Grallner, Champion of House Earp shall be mine,” Emmerst says from behind you.

You feel a blur, the words and images half there.

Your sword had plunged into his heart, tearing through the thin leather and flesh before he had even had a chance to act. His grey eyes drained of life as his hands pulled uselessly at your blade, attempting to find purchase from it to pull it from his chest. The struggle ceases and he coughs up blood upon his final breath.

Her scream is all you remember, followed by Lord Earp’s laugh.

---

“Guards, see to the steward, calm him, get the body out of here,” Asher says snapping off quick order as he comes to you and pulls your arm over his shoulder leading you through the door and down into the spiral staircase away from the terror, “Landon? Landon are you with me? Has it happened again?”

“I... I don’t remember. I don’t remember who it was… I...I’m…”
>>
“Fine, you’re fine, I promise my friend,” Asher says, he picks up your arm, and places your sword into your hand, “There’s yelling in the yard. I think Jeyne was right there are a few holdouts left. Are you going to be able to help me purge them so that we may be done with this? In the name of the Seven, yeah?”

You nod, shakily, your ears fill with the cry of your father, "I WANT MY SONS I WANT MY SONS BRING THEM TO ME!"

You shake your head attempting to gain focus, “In the name of the Seven. We will put down those that turn their cloaks upon their rightful liege.”

“Yes, yes good,” Asher says nodding his head hurriedly, “Come on, follow.”

The two of you take the stairs the clattering of the your plate makes you feel uneven for some reason, less agile than Asher for certain but you felt more off than usual. When you arrive in the halls that connected the tower to the rest of the keep and then the yard you see a sight. Grallner men fighting other Grallner men, blood and ruin lie upon the ground, your own men or perhaps not, dying around you. The thrum of Asher’s bow pulls you from your stupor as it takes a man in the chest and he falls over.

“Ain’t many of them, but half of ours are scattered and broken, confused more than like.”

“Then we rally them to us,” you say your voice no longer with a shake, the melodic thumping of warmth upon your temple makes your mind turn, the world become clearer, “We’ll fight to the yard, gather the men and purge the traitors once and for all. Understood?”

Asher smiles at you with a slight chuckle, “Yes Ser.”

you're good OP, too little rolling makes people complain about railroading

I just realized I picture Landon as Laios, when do we get to meet our friendly dwarf cook?

Just fine, little distracted right now though.
>>
We're not going to be able to catch Wylla are we?
>>
>>1797258
We've got a few people that would be able to track from the Scouts, and the snow could help us if we hurry. If we wait though, the trail will be covered.

Benny might help, though he'll be hampered by the snow. In all likelihood, she's gone.
>>
>>1797258
depends. But I think the earp loyalists will fight to the death rather than flee. they probably dont even know the escape passage exists.

Our best bet is to murder them all quickly and resume the hunt tonight.

But no, she has likely slipped our grasp. And with Jeyne dead we have precious little to counter any stories concocted of our "abuse" of the girl. or any of the myriad other schemes that could weaken our position.
>>
>>1797269
We need to murder all of the Moon Swallows ASAP, we'll be able to show that we can protect our smallfolk well. Getting the port or silver mine working will help our cause a lot, especially if we can get the next piece of Faith armor before they try to press the claim.

Making sure our friend backs us up and says that Wylla was being treated well during his visit will be important as well.
>>
>>1797285
Our lord is a hard to please man, and we have spent five years with out thumbs up our ass while the whore wife of a bastard played us like a fiddle.

so yes we need to murder the moon swallows.

unless we get a LOT of wealth from the loan we wont have enough to improve the mine.

but we might get enough for our lesser goals and some Heavy Infatry

We should also endeavour to get Wylla back asap as trouble for us is trouble for him but yeah things aren't looking good in that regard

An archery of archers appear down the hall from you, cutting off your path, Asher and yourself both fling yourselves against the pillars along the walls just as a line drive of arrows come crashing down, burying themselves into the guards that had followed after you. You close your eyes, wishing a moment longer for prayer before looking to Asher who peaks over and then leans back. He flashes four fingers, then a signal to hold before he draws fire and covers you to the next pillar. You nod and he smiles, pulling an arrow from its quiver and half cocking it before he rolls out from cover, yelling with a goading tone, “You’re still just as piss poor a shot as ever Falbrook!”

His arrow knocks off and you can hear the thud and the whoosh of arrows that fly past when Asher does a barrel roll to the next pillar, you make a break for it after and press yourself against the stone wall in a crunch of grinding metal on stone. You’d be needing to spend extra time in the chapel tomorrow morning. Ashe again signals and the two of your repeat the action a second time. Upon the third he flicks his head and you see the two archers breaking formation and proceeding slowly down the hall. He lips, “Ready?” and you nod before you both roll out. Asher cracks the archer’s head with another shot, his friend looking at him dumbly before he realizes you’re barreling down on him. Your sword meets his gut with a sicken squelch and you drive him back to the wall. Your head is a blazing inferno of warmth, leaking from your eyes and mouth, and the man looks at you in fear before uttering with his final bloody breath, “We are our Loyalties,” those old words. You wrench your sword and he spits up the last of his life before you drop him free.
>>
“This way,” you say and the two of you run through the passage and towards the yard. As you go Asher pulls his warhorn and calls upon it two times, his rallying cry for the ‘Bowmen. Before you know it, the Longbowmen begin to appear from every nook and cranny, those loyal to you still. Asher laughs as he realizes it is the vast majority of his men that begin to appear, “Seven be good I’m glad I recruited green men!”

As you enter the yard you can hardly make out the melee that is ensuing further away, Asher comes up next to you, flanked by ‘Bowmen, he pulls his myrish lens from his pocket and says with a hrm, “Looks like the Whitestone Guards, those precious few we have are fighting a couple of the Cavalrymen. Three of them are mounted up in their armor. No doubt they’re our turncloaks.”

“Give me your horn.”

He hands it to you with little issue and you suck in air before pulling a long call from it. That was your rallying call, the one that all men within your Household had been made to learn from day one of their training. It goes on for a sound eight beats before you allow it to falter, echoing throughout the Mountains surrounding your castle.

“By the old gods and new do you have a pair of lungs,” Asher observes.

“Choir,” you state simply drawing a sideways look from the northman who shakes it off and puts the lens to his eye again.

“Melee is breaking down,” he observes, “A lot of men running this way. Looks like the lot of the traitors are staying though. They’re really ready to die for this girl. Fools. All.”

The Garrison and your Knights arrive in short order forming up around you. You’re a bit on the light side you realize, suddenly missing your brothers and the First, if only for a fleeting moment. Ser Bryen Belmore and Ser Michel flank you now, as do the remainder of the Cavalry, though they remain footed.

“They’re getting ready to charge,” Asher says, “Orders Ser?”

You breath, the cold air filling your lungs but quickly melting to the heat of your pounding heart, “FORM UP!”
The garrison takes the front, those left with their spears grounding themselves in the solid ice and stone ground, those behind with their short swords and shields. The archers take the rear, their bows half cocked and waiting on Asher’s command. The Cavalrymen, though dismounted are still formidable warriors on their own and draw their secondary weapons with shields and form up on the third line with yourself. You were a man of defense, they always came to you, running to their deaths like undisciplined messes. The Loyalists in the Riverlands were slaughtered, the Moon Swallows were slaughtered, and now these traitors would be slaughtered and purged from your House. They break into an all out assault, running like mad men into the grinder. Did they truly forget your training so easily? Or perhaps it was the old Earp training resurfacing.
>>
“Our Faith surrounds and protects us!” you call, pulling your shield into position, the men flanking you doing the same, “Believe in the Seven, call upon the Warrior for his strength. Upon the Mother for her protection. Upon the Father for justice and we will prevail against those that spurn their true purpose and turn their cloaks!”

The soldiers respond with a short cheer and you hear Asher from behind call, “WHAT SOARS!”

“JUSTICE!”

Asher’s arrows fly true and splinter the first line of turncloaks, they fall back for a second volley but you hold them, fearing they are too close instead they will run straight into your lines. The garrisons veterans are first, screaming like madmen as they crash into the prickly shield wall. You had thought a slaughter and a slaughter it was, they way to the wayside, too thinly supported and untrained to fight against a foe with superior numbers. You find yourself pressed against the second line, a man making a mad jump upon their shields and into your own line. Though to little avail the moment he lands in a pile of hubark and snow your sword is the first to meet him, the quick stab over your shield landing in his throat, four other swords finishing the work as he drowns in his own blood.

“HOLD!” you call getting a view of the second wave. The few cavalrymen left have rounded and are sending in their fodder before charging in after. Again the first wave breaks upon your shield wall, like a wave upon a rock. The yell of the madmen echoes throughout the mountains in stark contrast to the resolute silence of your own men as they continue by your order. You hardly get a peek above the second line before you realize that the cavalrymen are upon you, the first two crash into the flanks of the lines, the pained scream of the rounceys drowning out the men beneath them. You catch one being pulled form his horse and being stabbed half a dozen times before you realize that the last horseman has crash through your line and stomachs the man before him with his war lance. Half a second too late and you are run down by the reckless charge of a man have crazed on old loyalties, half a second too late and you find yourself with a lance splitting your chest, but you were just half a second early, your sword finds purchase in a long swinging motion, cutting the horse’s legs out from under it, his face crashing into the ground throwing the rider forward, his secondary swing of his sword missing you by nary a hair. You turn and see the smile of Asher Harp as he notches, pulls, and fires. The arrow streaks towards the two of you burying itself in the rider’s heart. He tumbles to the ground in shambles, another couple of sword thrusts and you are certain he is dead.
>>
Silence begins to resume in the Mountains of the Dawn, the last calls of the turncloaks drowned in their blood as they sputter out and die. The wind has died down you realize and the snow has turned from a blizzard to a soft fall. You look about the yard, half drenched in blood and ruin. You smell the tastes of death, shit and piss and fear, the metallic tang of blood upon your tongue. It’s over you realize and your temples begin to cool, your mind slowing to the slow fall of the snow about you with a long and tired sigh.

Asher is the first to you, placing himself next to you and drawing your arm over his shoulder again, “They forget their former Knight-Commander,” he says with a chuckle as you lean into him, tired and weary with the day, “Justice Soared today Landon, this was a victory, even in defeat you can see that.”

You nod, taking in breath in large gulps. A victory in defeat. Wylla Earp was gone. But your family, safe. Your Household purged of turncloaks and traitors. You were stronger for it. But your trust still felt broken. Not only would you need to rebuild at home you would need to rebuild yourself, allow broken trusts to be rebuilt over the coming times. Or so you hoped you could.

The men’s cheering brings you back to reality as Ser Bryen Belmore and Ser Michel the Sisterman bow to the two of you, the former looks up and licks his lips, “I am told what happened Landon. If it were I, Asher Harp would be Ser Asher Harp.”

You had never knighted a man before, in truth, not that you couldn’t it was your right as a Knight, but in all desires you would like to do it properly, anointment and all but as you stood propped up against the man that had saved your father and perhaps even yourself there was an inkling that maybe ceremony could take a backseat for a day. For a man like Asher Harp who never dwelt upon such things it almost felt… Appropriate.

Knight Asher Harp?

>Do it yourself.

something something "though the hands of The Smith are coarse, his work is pure" something something "Warrior guard thee as you have me"

quick, clean, efficient.
>>
>>1797353
You don't really give people nicknames, you have to let it happen naturally.
>>
“Asher Harp, kneel,” you say, pulling away and giving him a hard stare.

He does so, his face filled with bewilderment, the men are suddenly silent, standing about the four of you in respect. His knees crunch into the soft snow and lacking any other weapon Asher lies his bow before himself in a sign that ceremony was simply not upon the list of occurrence this day.

Drawing your blade for the final time today it aims for the heavens a moment, you can feel the strain upon yourself as you say upon silent lip a prayer for the Seven. Not for Asher, but yourself that your strength may last you a final moment today, enough to do this task in their name. You slowly lower it, tapping his right shoulder lightly and beginning the oath, “ In the name of the Warrior I charge you to be brave. In the name of the Father I charge you to be just. In the name of the Mother I charge you to defend the young and innocent. In the name of the Maid I charge you to protect all women…”

You remembered the vow you once took, bestowed upon you by Lord Emmerst Earp. It had not been a forgotten thing in truth. You remember where you came from even now. It was the first step towards many more to now. Your sword switches shoulders as you continue the oath, each aspect of the Faith receiving their proper due upon blessed lip. Upon the final word you can Asher’s shudder, his eyes that held upon the ground look up at you.

“Do you so swear?”

“I so swear,” he says with half a smile.

“Then arise Ser Asher Harp of Whitestone Keep.”

The men cheer as you help pull your friend to his feet, the two of you share a long stare before you press your foreheads together. His laugh reminds you of the day the two of you met, when you dismissed him for his lackadaisy attitude and disrespect for the chain of command under Ser Trevor Trant. Truly this was a path made by the Seven, a path made to help you see humility and that even from godless lands came men of honor and loyalty, hidden under shrouds of misdeeds. He may not be a man of the Faith, perhaps not ever, or a man who never respected ceremony and protocol, but damn it he was your friend. Through all things that were wrong with this, he was that. Perhaps someday you could get him to attend mass, a hopeless endeavour but you were a relentless man.

“May the Seven protect and guide you,” you say.

“And may the Old Gods do the same for you,” he responds, he chuckles, "You know the lads only called me Asher Harp because I love to play the instrument. Suppose I'm stuck with the name now, yeah?" You crack a smile and give half a laugh as the sound of the soldiers drowning out any further words.

[End Chapter III]

Wow that was actually a pretty good little session. I really enjoyed writing that. I feel like it flowed incredibly well. Had the right balance of action and talking with some high-stakes that you guys actually managed to get out of. Just... Damn. This session helped remind me why I love doing this so much. Genuinely joyed about that. All of the side discussion was great, I love how divided things seem to be. Because that is exactly how Landon's mind is working right now. Divided and confused.

So, if you hadn't figured out, your father was supposed to die. Landon wasn't supposed to figure it out so quickly so by the time he got to his father's chambers Jeyne Stone would have done the deed already. The anon that came up with Benny tracking down someone actually saved your father's life because it was perfect for the character, since Griff's are crazy good trackers, and Landon would follow his damn dog even in times of strife. I love write-ins like that, it forced me to change things and it ended up for the better.

Also I'm really liking the change I made in regards to asking questions. I feel it is helping us play the character a lot better and things are moving on a lot more smoothly. It keeps information limited as well. Clearly, you didn't get every answer from Jeyne, just a few things she wanted you to know.

So yeah! Great thread, thank you all for participating as always. I hope you enjoyed and had as much fun as I did. And... Yeah. Damn.

Oh, next thread is scheduled for this Thursday, 24 August @ 2-3PM EST. A new thread will be made for that. We'll do a minor timeskip to the end of the week and from there we'll go forward.

Great thread OP, looking forward to putting the Moon Swallows to the sword

Would there have been a way to stop Wylla from escaping, if we'd rolled better for searching Jeyne's room?

I'm really wondering who our nemesis could be. Jeyne was motivated by avenging her brother, but I don't think that her father is our nemesis. It might be that I'm overestimating how far this goes, but it seems too easy for one of your quests.

Also how old is Jeyne's half brother?

Soon Anon, soon. Maffew will be recieving the response from Nestor Royse regarding your petition to gain control of the Dawntower Ruins, and then all the swording you can ever want.

>>1797391
>Would there have been a way to stop Wylla from escaping, if we'd rolled better for searching Jeyne's room?
It was a DC 15 to figure it out, so possible? Yes. Probable? Close to no. Landon getting the critical failure prevented him from finding anything, Wylla Earp getting even more of a headstart, and then having a pretty heavy PTSD episode. It was nigh impossible after all of that.

we might be able to push for an annulment, considering they won't be able to consummate for at least 4 years. Get someone with a better persuasion/train it and argue that their marriage was made under coercion. She was kidnapped from her appointed overseer and forced into a marriage to a man almost triple her age, a marriage that they never consummated. In the eyes of the Seven, the marriage should not have happened and is not legitimate
>>
>>1797433
So what did people think of Landon's wrath this time? We're a god damn power house with one hell of a commanding presence...those two we had locked up briefly gonna hold it against us much?
>>
>>1797431
>hurr hurr it's in the setting, don't find it gross

Please, I know a LOT about this setting, I'm just not de sensitized to legitimately gross stuff
>>
>>1797436
There you go, now you're thinking like a character that knows a lot about his Faith. Get a Septon and... Well, we might just be talking. Get a couple more ranks in the Faith and you'll get some sway as well.

Good thinking their anon.

>>1797440
Most of Landon's soldiers are used to the way he commands, his presence right in the midst of his men helps to inspire confidence amongst them and allows him to command them properly, by his opinion at least. The maneuver you saw him use is something he picked up during the Rebellion, he knows it works on the flat field, but his mountains make it a bit tougher to pull off. He can command and lead, but that was the maximum amount of men he can before he begins to struggle. Compared to Cador Belmore that has a Warfare 5 Command 2, and is actually an impressively good battlefield tactician and commander.

All of that being said, they are not used to being on the opposite end of the human wrecking ball that is Landon Grallner. So those that fought him were likely scared shitless.

>those two we had locked up briefly gonna hold it against us much?
Yes and no. You will have to see, but both are incredibly ashamed that they were used like that and it broke Landon's trust in them both. Trevor is going to hate that he wasn't down there helping, he is your Knight-Commander and he feels he failed Landon by not being there. And Maffew is going to hate that he could have been doing so much more to help in general, that he gave up on Landon.

It's a mixed bag. They still blame the other more than their selves though.

>>1797443
I don't know man, I get into some pretty fucked up shit in my quests.

Brynden Malroy's sister was raped, scalped, maimed and mutilated, forced to watch her mother have the same occur to her. Then forcibly impregnated, and has a small sense of Stockholm syndrome regarding her children. All the while thinking she was the last one alive of her family, being constantly abused mentally and physically and just having a real shit time of it for a handful of years.

Then I don't really pull punches on war and fighting and death. I don't super detailed, but it isn't good shit either.

Basically. Might want to steel yourself coming into this. I don't pull punches. But I'm not going to go for straight up gross-out content either. It's done in such a way to produce a reaction from the character and you guys. But it will be there. Just a fair warning.
>>
>>1797479
Dad, I'm aight. I was there for Malroy when that happened, I've read all the books and I'm even the guy who introduced you to Preston Jacobs that crazy diamond.

S'all good in the hood homie, it'll take a lot more than what you have to gross me out.

I just think a 25 year old planning to wed a 9 year old is icky

improve the mine and start giving slightly more silver to the Faith. It'll give us 3 points toward the next level every two months, and we can increase the speed by doing stuff in line with their interests.

Where would you say Landon stands in combat prowls in Westeros? among the top 50? Top 10? A man worth to face Ser Barristan the Bold and not get instantly wiped out
>>
>>1797494
>cartoonish violence
Literally all people argued were for Brynden to disappear both kids considering how traumatic the whole situation was to his sister who is one of the most important people in his life. Alongside both the kids having claims on our land and related to the man who destroyed our entire family.
>>
>>1797508
>misremembering the abortion ideas, the murder them in their sleep ideas etc

Bro, losing those kids would have destroyed her more. For better or worse she loved them, and Brynden's primary motivation is family.

That doesn't mean he has to LIKE them
>>
>>1797353
I'm glad someone liked that. Little Landon backstory thrown in there. The man knows how to sing. The Sept had a choir when he was growing up, he took an interest, developed a lovely baritone in his early teens and can hold a note long enough to make his war call damn impressive.

It's one of those dumb little things I like to include, like Brynden's ability to dance incredibly well.

>>1797487
Well. You are not wrong, it is definitely gross. But that's the point? I guess? To provide something for you guys and the characters to react to.

>>1797490
>and people still argued brynden wouldnt have any bad feelings abouts his sisters rape spawn
To be entirely fair. And I've said this before. It's a conflict of his Motivation: Family and Vice: Vengeful. Both sides are right in this situation. And I still refuse to take much of a stance on it. Just going to have heavily moderated votes on it in the future.

>so how could we fastrack that faith score?
-Give a larger tithe for the auto 3 every two months.
-Do Faith related things (feed the poor, defend the smallfolk, etc.)
-Exalt them in some victory (such as winning a melee or Tourney and naming them your reason for winning)
-Other things you guys can be creative about and figure out

>>1797501
>Are we going to let them redeem themselves soon? I feel bad we didn't let them bro it up with us while we were purging traitors.

That's up to you guys as Landon's guide. He isn't bound to forgive either one of them or allow them to regain his trust. That was a hard blow for him.

<On that note, did we ever take the Honorbound flaw? I feel like it'd be fitting for Landon, not like he's a man of subtlety anyway.
Sure did.

>How many Destiny Points do we have now? Can Destiny Points be used to gain new traits where appropriate?
2, and yes. But only when Landon is spending his EXP, which you have 15 of now. Halfway to being able to purchase a rank in an ability, oh boy. And if it is appropriate to how the character is developing.

>>1797504
>Are we able to take Drawbacks after character generation?
No.

>>1797506
Top 50 probably. Not sure where. He isn't top tier though because the abilites that supplement his fighting aren't very developed at all, i.e. Endurance, Agility, Athletics, Awareness. Most of the other MCs would be able to beat Landon pretty handily. Vickon Blackett and William Bordain for sure. Brynden Malroy would probably have a hand up on him as well.

He'll get there, he knows he can do more to be better.

Eh, improving the mine isn't impossible, we just need to get growth, blessing, or boon on our house fortunes roll. Dad's said that upgrading it would only take 5 wealth, which we'd have after a middling result.

I don't think we could stop giving money to our liege lord and get away with it, especially since we're thinking about asking for a loan/military support.

Winning a few local melees that are upcoming would definitely fit Landon's personality and please the Faith. Not to mention the money it'd provide us with, so we could upgrade our equipment.

Prisoners aren't really a thing in the medieval period, certainly not enough to be a major labour force.

Im also not sure how much proselytising, almsgiving and bandit purging will get us points. There's no one around to proselytise except filthy mountainniggers, the corruption of the Church probably means they'd prefer the wealth to flee straight to them, and killing bandits is just expected.

>as I said before we could redirect our tithe from our liege lord to the faith

>>1797576
>Yeah. Maybe we could just reduce our Faith tithes for this month to spend on an investment, I'm sure they'll understand.

So I see I see I need to explain how this all works in greater detail. Seeing as neither of these suggestions is how this works. To clarify, this is a system entirely separate from your House Holdings, it does not affect your Wealth, Power, Influence, etc. in any way. You cannot stop giving your tithe to suddenly have the Wealth to purchase another Holding.

Also, you are in a trade deal with Lord Belmore, 9 Silver for 15 Food. This is not something you can short him on. It simply isn't an option with your contract.

This is how your production breakdown works, as I detailed earlier in the thread:

>Production - Month II, 288AC:
15 Raw Silver
5 Processed Silver

>Stockpile - Month II, 288AC:
4 Raw Silver
5 Processed Silver

>Bimonthly Trade:
9 Raw Silver:15 Food (House Belmore trade)
2 Raw Silver:2 Faith Points (Faith Tithe)

>Food Required - Month II, 288AC:
15/15

So as you can see as of the end of Month II you will have 4 Raw Silver and 5 Processed Silver stockpiled while meeting your Food requirement as well of 15 units. The former may be reduced by 3 should Lord Bordain accept your offer, but that's still up in the air. Landon is entirely able to find and make other deals, he just... Isn't a clever man, nor does he understand everything regarding the finer points of trade or that he's being ripped off by his liege. To put it simply. Maffew is going to put in some extra leg work to present some options for Landon and will be suggesting others when Landon decides he wants to start building, i.e. trade for stone, lumber, labor forces, etc. These will provide you the appropriate bonuses based upon the deals you made with the other local Lords, merchants, and etc. Maffew is going to call in some favors with some old contacts in Gulltown.

So yeah, in summary. You are in a committed trade deal with House Belmore, you cannot break this contract to spend your units elsewhere not without serious repercussions and Benedar Belmore being incredibly angry with you. The contract goes on for the next two years and Landon cannot for the life of him even fathom it at the moment.

This is my take on Plasma's system for trade and food needs. I think I got the gist of what he was doing through rereading House Harrock but there is some background book keeping that I'm doing. Your total Food need is based upon your Population and your Power, refer to the attached picture. This is meant to add to the difficulty and challenge of the quest, but not make it impossible since Landon still has a lot of spare resources to fling about to make ends meet.
>>
Next House Fortunes we'll be going into the bonuses you can receive for "selling" your stockpiles for bonuses to the House Fortunes roll. I'll be certain to detail this all then as well so everyone can see it and understand everything that's going on. It is slightly more complex than the way I did things in Malroy and I don't really have an explanation for that. Other than I just liked the system and wished I had done it the first time. Rookie mistake and here we are.

The whole Faith points thing is just for House Grallner though. Unless other future/current QMs would like to use them. The levels are: 10, 25, 75, 150, 300, 600.

>>1797561
>>1797569
That is a viable option. So the three local Tourneys/Melees will have rewards that amount to 1, 1, and 2 Wealth, respectively. I still need to math out all of the details regarding the Superior Plate, Superior Tower Shield, and then figure out the Superior Long Sword details based upon the William Bordain deal. You also have the option of buying a different type of sword, which will present itself in due time. Once I've done that math I'll figure out the percentiles you can give to the Faith and whether or not Landon wishes to give it immediately or wait until the end. The Faith Points received will be higher or lower depending upon your actions. So yeah, that's a great idea. And at the base, if Landon wins, he can dedicate the victory to the Faith and receive some Faith Points, the more prestigious the victory the more points. The more renowned the House that hosts it the more points. And etc. If Landon wants to get on the Melee circuit he can certainly make an effort to, if he has the time.

>>1797576
>Would we get Faith from proselyting people
Uh, yes and no question there. Your people are of the Faith, as most smallfolk are. But not educated in it or exalt it as Landon does. Building a Sept, having a Septon that gives regular mass, etc. will be all ways to gain Faith points in regard to your populace. But just forcing it on your people isn't going to gain you anything. A Faithful populace gains, a forced Faith does not.

Regarding higher profile people, I'd suppose yes? I hadn't really thought about the idea. But it would really require Landon to up his speaking skills. Which I don't really think is going to happen. Someone like an Essosi Merchant Prince would merely entertain the man before laughing at him given Landon's current stat spread and his less than convincing demeanor even regarding his Faith.

>Maybe we need to get a Septon if we want to get Faith from purges or killing bandits.
You flat out don't gain Faith Points for either of those things. It is expected of you to do the latter and the former includes killing men of the Faith.
>>
You do gain for killing Moon Swallows though. Landon gained most of his points for the first level from the Skirmish of the Silver Mine. You gain Faith Points based upon the Power worth of the unit you defeated, so Landon defeated two units of Green Raiders and gained 8 Points, 4 per. The other 2 were for him giving the goat elder's gift to his people. And he gained 5 from convincing Ser Bryen Belmore to take solace in his Faith. So I guess Landon's Faith Points are 5/25 right now. I'll need to create a spreadsheet for all of these new things so you guys can keep track of them and I as well. A fluff reason for Landon becoming a Proctor some odd days after those actions are let's say he had it coming for his actions over the previous few years and it finally got to him, another thing to help reinvigorate him with a first step.

Actually, if anyone can give me viable reasons why a former action we took in the first two threads should gain Landon Faith Points I will examine it and make a decision on yay or nay and then assign an amount.

Anyway, you'll gain a good chunk of Faith Points for killing the Moon Swallows chief/seer and ridding the Vale of infidels. To be determined, however.

>If we had a disability for thievery, wouldn't it be one that wouldn't interfere with other stats?
>>1797578
>>1797622
In theory, yes. However, I am not going to let you guys do this now, post character generation. I offered the option during gen and it was not taken. So here we are and we'll live with our decisions.

>>1797623
>Im considering the equivelant of basically handing out alms.
So I've been thinking about this since it has come up several times. I will allow it, but you will need to do some legwork. In order to hand out alms you will need an excess of either food or coin. Which you do not have presently. If Landon can manage a new trade and has excess in Food units, rather than stockpiling them he will use them in almsgiving, so a single unit of Food will grant a single Faith Point and so on to your maximum of three. This will be your soup kitchens, almsgiving, general charity all rolled into one in a fluff definition. It will also help the people's opinion of Landon, which he is hurting majorly on in his domains.

>>1797623
>>1797632
As it happens you already have a sort of kind hard labor force. If you'll remember the first thread where we voted for such with Landon cracking down. They're doing grunt work right now, not a lot of importance. Gathering water, fire wood, etc. for the Whitestone and keeping the path from the Keep to the dock town clean. They are almost virtually useless, just a couple dozen men at any given time who await the arrival of the Night's Watch recruiter. They don't provide any bonuses nor will they unless Landon starts investing in really specific areas, places I don't think he really cares about.
>>
>Yeah. Religion is a great way to mobilize people, or as an excuse to
Believe I've addressed this already but you will not be able to use religion as a means to receive free labor from the smallfolk. This is based upon their general distrust of Landon, you insignificantly small Population score, and the amount of skilled labor you need to repair and build the things that have been thrown out there before. Isn't really an option on the table.

You can use your Faith to help you in convincing people to come to your lands. Like a particularly Faithful Engineer or Master Artisan. That you can potentially receive a reduction of cost with if you pass your Persuasion(Convince) test.

>>1797656
>>1797680
He is not a land holding noble Knight. Just a landless Household Knight. And he needs an invitation. So that's a no go.

>>1797818
>These two couldnt stop blaming each other long enough to see they were being played.
Yeah that's just sort of their characters. Maffew and Trevor have never trusted each other and their relationship is best described as mutual dislike. That is why they were so easy to play against one another and manipulate. Landon's words will only make them stop doing it front of him, it isn't going to change their core character or opinion of the other man.

If you do end up wishing to dismiss either or both Landon knows just how much of a blow that would be to his Household. As shit a job as he's been doing recently Maffew has really held together the finances of the House. Without him the House would have fallen to absolute ruin, he handles the silver trade, the food rations, and distribution not to mention writing each and every letter to House Arryn, Belmore, and the Crown. Likewise the men really do rally behind and follow Ser Trevor Trant who is the most experienced Knight in the Household, not to mention all of the drilling he does with the green men, being the impromptu Master-at-Arms and really being Landon's mentor for all things Knightly and Noble. They both are incredibly hard to replace for Landon without actually investing money in a proper replacement. So I'd be really careful with that decision if I were you guys.
>>
>>1797929
I honestly wasn't expecting more than 2. It's pretty typical for small Houses to keep it small and inclusive as to avoid inheritance disputes that they simply can't afford if they wish to survive. But the 7 idea is actually kind of smart, it sounds like something Landon would be doing, but yeah. 60 Influence is a lot.

>>1797960
Maffew is in his late 30s by the time he was done he'd be in his mid-40s at best. Landon would be better served just asking for a full fledged Maester rather than sending off his steward for a decade to learn. That and Maffew really isn't interested, he still wishes to marry and have children some day.

>>1797976
>in the meantime we would require a steward to take his place. something we might request from Lord Belmore. Having eyes involved in our household affairs might serve to reassure him further.
Not to condone the idea of replacing Maffew, but the idea of asking Lord Belmore to provide a man loyal to him to aid you with your House would be something he'd take an interest in and could be convinced of as a means to help reassure him. Of the various things he wishes to speak to Landon about. I might come up with a couple options Landon can request if we wish to proceed with the idea.

>>1798183
Lord Arryn, and by that I mean Lord Yohn Royce as castellan of the Eyrie/Vale wouldn't give two shits. The response would be, in short, crass summary, "Then fucking deal with it." He doesn't care who owns a girl with a dead family and your reports of traitors and sabotuers within your House would result in him asking for irrefutable proof and who, which you cannot produce at the moment and him then receiving all the reports of you sitting on your hands for years and the general lawlessness of your lands which he would place the blame on for your traitors and tell Landon to get his fucking shit together. Lord Belmore, however, does care, a lot, as he is your liege and has a vested interest in the Earp girl.

In other news I now need to make a personal coat of arms for Ser Asher Harp. I don't believe any other /tg/qst/ Lord has Knighted a common man for great valor and deeds such as Asher. I can't think of any. It's actually kind of surprising, it is always a viable option on the table for any of them. That no one has written that in before is beyond me.

I think the reason is, is mostly because so few non knights in quest do anything of note like that.

I was just hurt and angry at the fact that their rivalry nearly brought ruin to our house. The blood of men who might have been loyal given other circumstances stains the snow for this and other reasons. If Landon was lost in prayer and memories it was their job to be his hands and eyes.

To be honest its mostly Jeynes fault, her cunning probably vastly outstripped anyone else in the household.

I dont actually think we should send them away, but rather invest the points to turn Maffew into a senechal and Trent into a Master-at-arms.

though that does use up some of our personage holding slots in a slightly less than ideal manner it is very much in the spirit of how things have turned out.

I say that because Septon, Maester, and Baillifs are all high on my priorities list.

I think Landon is the kind of character where we need to "let our sword do the talking". Trying to act like... well like Brynden will see us fail repeatedly.

Im in favor of killing the hell out of Moon Swallows. It gets a lot of what we need right now. Joining the melee circuit isn't a bad idea either. Monthly religious festivals would allow us to trade in some of our excess influence for much needed population. A court of beautiful people would do the same for wealth.... but is wholly unsuited to Landon.

kennels feel really correct now since benny saved our dads life and all.

and above all of that improving the mine looms like a spider....

I like the idea that each of our kids secretly represents an aspect of the 7. The last one will be the bastard

>A court of beautiful people would do the same for wealth.... but is wholly unsuited to Landon.

If you build that foundation less on vanity and more on faith and religious fervency it would be much more in line with Landon.
>>
>>1801388
But taking money for access to social circles is not like Landon at all. Especially if it was faith based. Why withhold the teachings of the seven for base coin?

It just doesn't work unless our wife sets it up or it happens under Landon's nose.
>>
>>1801371
I think it would be fairly cool for Landon to get REALLY good at fighting. Like kings guard tier. Travel around crushing Melee events. Being the hottest straight knight around. Being too pure for this world. Raising squires in the ways of the Seven. Never realizing how many floods and boners he causes. Dedicating it all to the faith.

He blond man whores of kings landing will make a killing.

We already beat every member of roberts kingsguard except selmy and jamie

That isn't an impressive feet anon, the other other kingsguard worth anything is Mandon Moore and he isn't even that great.
>>
>>1801504
If we're going by Fighting yeah. But our defensive stats, Awareness, Agility, and Athletics are all bad to Eh. Damage output is mediocre. And our Endurance is way too low. Landon's equipment is also shit tier so... I don't think he's as good as everyone thinks he is.
>>
>>1801658
So which of these stats should we raise? And why?
>>
>>1801706
>>1801658
I would say Endurance. Landon seem like a tank. Gotta pump up his healthpool
>>

Endurance, Athletics and Awareness.

>Victus charm and faith vs Landon's dislike of bastards

Who would win ?
>>
>we find our old lover
>she has our 10 year old bastard son with her
>>
>>1802402
Probably our dislike of bastards, unless the backstory of Brynden wanting to marry her but then she died before he could and Victus is the kid of the union comes out.

Then Landon would be super conflicted and feel bad.

>>1802407
Landon would probably refuse to believe it is his. Like legitly disbelieve.
>>
>>1802414
Oh please. All Victus would have to do is look at him with his big brown eyes and then cite a verse and Landon would grow weak in his knees.

>Does Maffew know we are getting ripped off?
Oh incredibly. 9 units of raw silver for 15 units of food? Anyone with even the most basic trade knowledge can see it. Whenever Landon was in the process of being made the Knight of Whitestone Keep and swearing his sword to House Belmore it was just a whole big mess. Benedar took advantage of it and got Landon locked into something that he believed was beneficial to him. Again, Landon is not a clever man.

>>1800614
I'm thinking a field of white with a gold harp and three black arrows. One for each engagement throughout the day (the riot, Jeyne Stone, final push of the turncloaks). Maybe I'll knock something up unless someone else would like to.

>>1800918
>Is this any action or a particular action?
Any action that you've taken. I can't think of anymore myself but if someone brings up something viable I would at least give it a thought.

>>1800968
>trusting Lincoln or Liam to be stewards, ever

I think the word you're looking for is castellan. Which again, Landon can't trust them to be either. That usually falls to Ser Trevor Trant.

>>1801371
>To be honest its mostly Jeynes fault, her cunning probably vastly outstripped anyone else in the household.
That's pretty much how she got away with it. In crunch terms, Jeyne Stone was a Sabouter with the Plausible Deniability improvement. She murdered all three of them on every roll she made, but again Benny saved the day.

The fact that she was fucking just about anything that moved helped as well.

>kennels feel really correct now since benny saved our dads life and all.
I don't know if Landon quite has the interest in kennels, he loves his dog, but maybe? If there's a push for it I'll certainly allow it.

>>1801402
>>1801504
Ehh, Landon is an even match for your typical Kingsguard member. I wouldn't say he shits on them by any means. Especially if it starts in mounted combat. If they got the first hit in, very likely that they could batter Landon down. Granted he does have a lot of things to help him, like Blood of the Andals, Armour Mastery, stuff like that. But it would be a very close fight to say the least.

Also as, >>1801658, pointed out, Landon does have some defensive weaknesses. His Awareness is pretty glaring, which has a hand in both Combat and Intrigue Defense. And, while 4 in Endurance is respectable, for a tank like Landon a 5 with some Resilience bonus dice would be helpful. I think his damage output is fine, however, seeing as it is pretty standard for a Long Sword user. I don't know if Landon would be interested in using a Bastard Sword though.
>>
>>1802429
Faith is the most important thing to Landon, they say bastards are evil and cursed and no matter what Victus does Landon will believe that.
>>

READING IS FOR NERDS.

Either way, since I mentioned all of this. I am actually considering allowing you guys to drop Thievery, Deception, or Stealth down to 1, giving you the extra 50 and we'd spend it like we do in character generation. There would be a few key skills I wouldn't let you upgrade, like Cunning, Language, Deception, or Stealth, since they aren't very Landon like. But otherwise you could get a little boost in some other areas. I consider this because I think I might have been a little unfair and I know that Character Generation is a real bitch to do with a group, especially when only a few people actually know how to do it. So... Maybe. Thoughts?

>>1802402
Landon's dislike, especially after what just happened with Jeyne Stone.

>camp follower was from the Rebellion

wut.

Anyway, just as a reminder. Next thread is tomorrow, Thursday 24 August. At 2-3PM EST. We will be using a new thread, and I'll link to it here. Likely failing in the attempt once more.

I'll be around in the thread if anyone has anything to ask or ideas to bounce. Also going to be working on the Homebrew stuff. I recently got a couple of one of the Chronicle Starter supplements Spark to Powder, and while a lot of it isn't really relevant seeing as they involve gunpowder, there is a lot of interesting stuff in there that can be co-opted and used for your typical stuff. I linked the .pdf, but I'm not sure if it'll work.
>>
>>1802445
>So... Maybe. Thoughts?
I think it would be alright if we spend it on skills Landon would only have at the time we started. So pretty much combat skills like Athletics, Stamina, and Strength.
>>
>>1802445
>Landon's dislike, especially after what just happened with Jeyne Stone.

If the kid's backstory came up and how he was basically Brynden only son with his first not!wife that he was planning on marrying but couldn't would that color his perceptions any?

>So... Maybe. Thoughts?
I'd be down for buff awareness, animal handling and endurance/resilience.

Could we send Trevor out on a quest to retrive the Valyrian Sword he lost ?

That way he can earn his redemption.

Also. Rate mah family tree. Or atleast the part i could squeeze in.

I was thinking getting a kennel would be a good idea as suggest. They would do great in the mountains. Get a strong breed and they can help guard and seek out mountain clans. And give them belly rubs.

I was also wondering ifthere was anything you could tell us about that bedwarmer of ours ?
>>
>>1802445
I would say we drop deception. Something I see Landon being terrible at. But we should probably get our reading and then raise either agility or endurance

Also funny. I asked the exact same Victus question on your Ask

>Either way, since I mentioned all of this. I am actually considering allowing you guys to drop Thievery, Deception, or Stealth down to 1, giving you the extra 50 and we'd spend it like we do in character generation.

That's pretty generous, when I was complaining about it, it was mostly just grumbling about us not thinking during char gen lol.

If no one else is against it I guess we can do it, and you okay it ofcourse.

>>1802692
I think Thievery is the most useless honestly, it's pretty worthless in this system unless you're making a stealth build.

It would only make it worse. Brynden failing to do his duty, fathering a bastard and running away because he couldn't get his way. Only to be rewarded with his House and Lordship after being nothing but a dishonorable sellswordy son of a bitch in Essos for years. Landon would detest Brynden.

>I think it would be alright if we spend it on skills Landon would only have at the time we started

That is basically how I'd run it. So things like Endurance, Athletics, Animal Handling, Survival, Warfare, Will would all be on the table. While stuff like Language, Cunning, Deception, Healing are all off.

Either way, keep in mind that the 50 EXP you'd be getting would only be able to be spent on base Abilities. So Agility, Animal Handling, etc., so the left most column on Table 4-1. 30 can be spent on raising any of your abilities that are 3<, 10 on any of your abilities at 2, and then you also have the option of spending 40 to raise an ability from 2 to 4. We might just end up starting off with that, I feel it will add more depth to Landon's character and help to bolster up some of his more lacking areas.

>>1802487
>Could we send Trevor out on a quest to retrive the Valyrian Sword he lost ?
He wouldn't get very far. He only knows the House that he lost it to, from there it's a mystery and he is not the type of man to look into things like that. Trevor Trant also isn't particularly fond of the memory, Maffew wasn't entirely wrong when he called him a bitter old man. He doesn't want much to do with the sword anymore nor the memory.

At most he'd tell Landon who he lost it to, the further details of the trial, and he'd brood on it afterwards for a couple days.

>Also. Rate mah family tree.
Needs some clean up. I was pretty lost when I first looked it over. Also needs context, dates and what have you, knowledge of the people involved or at least a baseline then I could actually give an opinion.

>>1802524
>I was thinking getting a kennel would be a good idea as suggest.
Only problem is, as I've stated before, is that Dog Kennels are an Estate Holding which you cannot purchase another of until you own another Domain since it is 1 Estate Holding per Domain.

>I was also wondering ifthere was anything you could tell us about that bedwarmer of ours ?
Absolutely not. Why would I tell you guys about a huge secret and repressed memory of Landon's when it could serve in the story still?
>>
>>1802880
Put one more in awareness and animal handling and one more in either Endurance or athletics
>>
>>1802880
Considering we need to start bulking up for the Tourney I say we put one in Agility and another in Endurance
>>
>>1802880
My opinion is awareness to 4 and survival or animal handling to 3

But I will be the first to point out I don't know this system very well.
>>
>>1802436
>Any action that you've taken. I can't think of anymore myself but if someone brings up something viable I would at least give it a thought.
I'll look into the archives later, thanks.

>That is basically how I'd run it. So things like Endurance, Athletics, Animal Handling, Survival, Warfare, Will would all be on the table. While stuff like Language, Cunning, Deception, Healing are all off.
That's fine. I'm going to admit I'm not too familiar with the system, so I'll have to look at the rulebook later. I'd say we drop skills that Landon would be too Honor-Bound to have, so if we can take more than one skill-specific disability, we should drop Thievery, Deception, and Stealth.
Does Deception deal with countering infiltration, or is that Cunning? While I don't think Landon would engage in dishonesty, skills that counteract dishonesty would be what he'd take as a necessity.

>>1802880
>We might just end up starting off with that, I feel it will add more depth to Landon's character and help to bolster up some of his more lacking areas.
Sounds great. He intentionally disables or restrains himself from engaging in acts of dishonesty, and uses that restraint to fuel his fervor for other skills that's enforce the Seven.
>>
>>1802880
I remember that we only have one domain, and are limited to domains=status.
How do we gain extra domains? Would the herding village count? Or the Tower?

It's not like Landon, but could we cut an extra domain out of the area held by the Dick Swallowers? Having a secret silver mine in the mountains would be amazingly helpful. Again though not quite in character.

Also, general discussion on how to make our brothers useful to the House. They seem charming enough and have likely both inherited the Attractive quality and perhaps the blood of Andals as well.

That would potentially make them excellent negotiators on the House behalf. And well... they can both be married off. Not that I trust either of them not to try to sleep with the others wife...

So, battlefield commanders? Negotiators? Tourney Knights bringing glory to the house?

The last would get them no end of Kings landing pussy. Might be worth it. Especially since if Landon dies one of these two shiftless fuckups has to take over.
>>
>>1803433
>How do we gain extra domains?
Spoil of war or spending Land.
>Would the herding village count? Or the Tower?
Only if they have a land+feature cost.
>>
>>1803432
Cunning and awareness counter deception depending on the context.

I'd say drop thievery (we will literally never use it unless we went with a thief character) and boost awareness (great for not having some asshole hit us unaware I the chaotic mess of battle, Animal handlng for doge, horseback stuff and the like and either bump endurance or atheletics up by 1.
>>
>>1803646
That's a pretty good spread, we still need to be able to read though.

And yeah Thievery is worthless
>>
>>1803646
I'd rather we switch animal handling with Endurance or Athletics considering that's what we need to be a much better warrior.
>>
