William: The sun’s settin and te rest of Eldon’s sorry goons fooked right off. Let’s finish the sorry bastard.

Catrina: Go everyone!

Erevu: As much as it pains me. My work has only caused strife. The lab should be flooded by now. Anything left is likely inoperable

Erevu grabs his vocaven and calmly switches the dial to Samantha’s channel: Child I wish to speak of my new terms of employment. Seeing as I’ll be leaving Eldson you’ll need an engineer of my talents.
Samantha: After saying all of that you’re still going to ask me to hire you? Don’t you want no part in this?

Erevu: If you are to change the world and leave it to chance that it burns. I will be there with you to hold the match fair lady. Consider it meeting the wish of my late collegue.

Samantha: …we’ll consider your terms at another time. For now let’s get you guys’ home.

Erevu: Understood. Before I leave you again. I must warn. I was not the only one working on these automatons. There were others. This matter is far from over.

Catrina: Really!? Eldson can still make these things?

William: Fookin’ell. Guessin we get more ways to fuck Eldson ova. Least thas a silva linin.

NEW PLAYERS WELCOME

Welcome to Gyrocite.

You play as an all-around "handy man" for an upstart company whose invention could change the world along with its partners. Your current job is killing this last automaton after screwing over a business rival.

Don't worry about catching up or trying to understand it all. Just play along

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/1751639/

A quick start guide is there to explain general concepts. The full rules are here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hRb7fQuzeSfjKbbYNOWa6V1xWs3-CM9lKBBDkJFcQ8I/edit?usp=sharing

Don't worry about all the math. A character calculator is provided to make things easier here. Just make a copy for yourself. Sorry, can't give edit rights:

You don't need to read all of the guide to play. Try out these premade loadouts here:

Loadouts: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uRMvILWgQcC_R96y6GH7uUTRKu4DOMtjkt9DrbOL7nA/edit

Technically they're out of date as of now but will still be "legal". Pick Fencers for decent tanking, Gunslinger/Brawler for DPS, or try your hands at keeping your fellow handymen alive as a Medic. If you try to make your own character, and I invite you to, there's a basic template to follow below

Erevu smiled curtly at the young Noble.

Erevu: it seems there are still some Chrysians of old still around such as the title of Noble can still have some meaning. I was worried Samson's children would have judgement that was spurious at best. I am glad I was wrong. Still the brains used were artificial... except this one. A pugillia may not have our intellect but anyone can see they have sentience. And you were right. I felt that such a procedure was inhumane but in my frustration I gave the go ahead to try anyways, hoping that the process would leave little to nothing left of the creature. Still its will lingered regrettably.

And what's this of them screaming "Freedom"? Preposterous. Automaton's can't talk.

As the day wanes so does the large automaton. A calm stillness is all that's heard as it powers down never to move again. William leaves his rifle on the ground and grabs his vocaven to call Samantha for an evacuation team.

William: We'll need'a bigga truck if we're haulin this thing along with the gobshite you left over there. Here's hoping he can still walk.

Erevu: I imagine there is some good I can do for them. Their suffering was my fault mostly.

Catrina: Umm excuse me old man. Who are you exactly?

Erevu: I never did introduce myself. I am Erevu E'Jelani. An {Automagineer} I worked with your employers' father a long time ago. I was interested in how Gyre fields could power automatons and had helped him develop some of the first dynamos. They are nothing like Samantha has been able to create. She has her father's wit and then some. Nonetheless young one my work led me to Eldson as I believed he had made this breakthrough. It's become apparent I was lied to but by then I was trapped. I thank you for your effort.

Samantha arranged for the crew to return to Laissez. Just in a day they had saw battle again and thwarted a business rival. In that time they they took the lives of handymen like themselves. They would have some time to grow and reflect even if their home could offer little comfort.

The crew regrouped, gathered the rest of their findings, and departed from Felman Hollow satisfied with a job completed with just compensation to follow. The automaton’s remains and Erevu met Samantha. The two would work to finish what her father had started. Two great minds compelled to bring such marvelous machines to the world but at what cost? Man would have a new tool and as such things go would take their first ventures to do harm to one another. Despite this inevitability, there layed a hope that such work would save Man and not destroy it.

Two weeks passed without much issue. The crew was recovering from their mission when a familiar eight now nine year old walked into their abode. Barely taller than 4 heads with a small light blonde bob cut, a child made her observations as a child would

Emilia: You guys live here?! This is worse than where I lived. It stinks too.

A man called out to the child to mind her manners.

Samuel: Emilia! What am I going to do with you, that’s not nice.

Unphased the crew glared at their employer with a tired incredulity that had festered into a lingering question: was this really the best the Gyre’s could do for them? They understood Laissez had become impossibly hard to find any reasonable rent but this situation felt no better than being a pauper on the streets. Yet the tenement was safer as the Brushdowers were known to accidentally push a sleeping body off the streets into the crags below while clearing the alleyways.

Samuel: I have good news everyone. We had hit a snag with all the permits but finally got all the issues taken care of. Your work from that last job garnered us a few favors and sped up the process.

Samuel signed at his blithering. He was embarrassed that this was all he could provide for his employees. He remembered how his father would starve himself and even make his own children go without to ensure his assistants got their “just pay”. Samuel remembers what his father would say: “When you find good help, you do everything to keep it. Value your employees and your value will tenfold”. His father was a far better scientist than a businessman but those words stuck to him. Samuel steeled himself and began again

Samuel: Listen everyone. I’m sorry this was all I could manage. However I’ll be able to rectify this situati-

Emilia: Why didn’t you just let them sleep in the labs?

Samuel: Because Samantha would have killed me. Now as I was saying… Here’s a list of improvements you can make to the house. As I’ve said earlier we have arranged everything already. All you would need to do is pick what you would like. Unfortunately we will not be able to fund all of the construction so you would need to contribute some. I do have some good news however. It seems that Laissez Labor were satisfied with your work and have agreed to pay half for any of the listed projects.

One final note. “Bellway Manor” was the title that the previous owners had used. We never bothered to change the name of the property and we’re being asked now to provide one to complete the permits. It seemed only fair that its residents would decide its proper title.

>Employees. Determine the name of your tenement

Each upgrade to your tenement increases a base stat by one for new characters and unlocks a PRT that can be used by anyone.

Each upgrade costs Ꞥ20k, but will only need to pay Ꞥ10k for the first one. The Crew can hold money for projects. Once enough has been saved a project can begin immediately.

Several days later one of you find a familiar fat man fixing himself a cup of tea.

Geoffrey Billings: Ah hello. Nice place you have here. Very spacious. I figured I’d let myself in since the door wasn’t closed… or was there at all. Anyways, on behalf of the Capitus United Workers Association I’d like to extend our deepest gratitude. Your work will help ensure THE PEOPLE receive the full fruits of their labor and not those fat cats. And if any of your fellows are interested we are planning to expand our influence here Laissez. If we have water to spare I have a chemistry project I that could use a few buckets. And I think I can find a way to pipe our morning shower through a solevenide-jupasatine breach at low energetic osciliations ! ! !

===Labor Shortages===

A courier pays a visit delivering a small parchment. It reads:

We at Laissez Labor truly appreciate the work you have done rectifying matters most ungentlemanly. For your efforts we hope our contribution in beautifying your dwelling has helped. We would like to extend our gratitude by also offering opportunities of fortune. We have innumerable tasks that need completion and can arrange to have these happen while you are on duty. Arrangements and terms have already been made on your behalf. May you find these efforts most agreeable

Laissez Labor
In a country like Capitus, your employment determines everything. For those that find themselves in between work or are ones not beholden to a single entity Laissez Labor fills the role. When a task needs to be completed or a company is short of hands Laissez Labor takes from the large swath of ready laborers to complete the job. Due to its proximity to the border and the revolving door of Labor, Laissez was an apt location to set up the sole Labor Agency of Capitus. As such they use their position to complete the day to day and are thus the largest employers in all of Capitus and the few “Public” institutions.

Days go by when several of you are summoned by Gerald. You arrive at the appointed meeting place and find yourselves outside of a long hall. A sign greets you: “Le Grand Salle de Piste”

Gerald: It seems you’ve made yourselves quite useful friends. Your work has given us our Salle back.

Basil: We couldn’t have done it without you! With this we can continue working on our techniques. Believe it or not this isn’t just a gym. This is where we test most of the new equipment we make along with ways in use them. We already came up with some techniques that can benefit from your fighting styles.

Gerald: Ah qui. We had just developed some moves. I believe you’ve proven yourselves capable of learning them. Wouldn’t you agree Basil?

Basil laughs nervously before clearing his throat: Ahem well they could. There’s no doubt about that. However your teaching style might leave us with most of a broken Salle again. We’re still not even done with all the renovations. Tell you what. If you can help us improve the Salle we’ll teach you what we know. If you’d like to not part with your Notes you can help out and we’ll teach you during that time.

Gerald: Should you not survive my regiment. I’ll be sure to use the contribution for your funeral. No student of mine will be buried in a ditch.

One question. [%Flanconnade] is tagged as a prepared action, but I am not sure how this is supposed to work, and an AP cost is not listed.
>>
>>1816183
Do PIQs occupy PRT/PRQ slots as well, or does the monetary cost compensate for that?

Can we still loan out equipment for free as long as we don't modify it? I'm assuming this is what we've done so far, and that we don't personally own anything just yet.

>>1811922
As far as I'm reading, CB is only used to pay costs for Pugilist PRTs, and Combo Multiplier is only used in [C-C-Combo Breaker]. Am I missing something? Also, at what points do they get reset to 0, if at all?

Also, does Suplex actually require me to be behind the target to use it? And do I end up moving the target and/or myself in any way in the process? I'm imagining moving the target diametrically across myself and leaving both of us prone would make sense, but you haven't stated anything of the sort.

Viper Cutter in the doc doesn't have any listed AP or CB cost. Is this intentional?

I'm unclear how I should be reading the cost of performing Boar Rush. Is it movement cost+1.5*(basic attack cost)*(tiles moved), or something else?
>>
>>1816695
Flan is triggered by parry like riposte and pris. While I'm responding do me a favor and list that you have observant like when people do a tap for JGS I forgot you had it a few times

>>1816958
PIQs don't occupy mod and neither do PRQs. The only thing limited are PRTs.

Cb does pay for Pug Prts. Combo multiplier means every time you do a different attack your multiplier increases. This enables you to build up cb faster. You lose the multiplier if you take Res damage or anything that reasonably stops your Combo. I should note I forgot to change the math. Off the top of my head you gain +25% for each unique attack and 5% from basic or repeated attacks. The limit is much higher.

Suplex just needs a back flank. That's the back 3 tiles. It does leave you prone.

Viper cutter I'll update. It's essentially an upgrade for elbow drop that has a more situational condition.

Boar rush is a prep. When you run into an enemy you take them with you. The cost is just basic attack multiplied.

Hey, Nik... Leo, nice wokshop you have here. Is that a neuro-link enabled reactive reactive monocle? Beautiful. I had one of those at the University, but, there was a fire and a lot of screaming and I lost it while hanging from a fourth story window after the explosive shockwave rammed me with a table. Don't take Applied Linguistics courses, they're boring.

I'm making small talk here, I know, but I'm trying to tactically slide closer to this table over here and ---

I'll need an instruction manual for my armor, main questions are:

-Can I pay more money on it now or is it once per phase?
-Does it get heavier? Where did that fucking 4eq cost I got shafted with for a mission go?
-Does it still take up a prt slot?
-Are the abilities provided with it passive or do they need prt slots?

There are more questions, I'm sure, but I'm forgetting them.

If we're lucky? IF?! We are lucky. Containing two catalysts within the same reaction matix and not having the capacitator banks overload when the gyro field leeches off to energize the charge resonation *and* then she fixes the criticality threshold issue /while/ you get a spiffing scourge instrument that's a conductive endpoint without it causing a aggravated backblast destabiliation event in the primary reaction injector valve?

You know that thing is... A fifth of an inch of isolation lining from causing the catalysts to mutually auto-initiate a self propagating beta gyre wave event? Overlapping solevenide lunjupuarz osciliations that get self reinforcing until they burnout cause some wierd phase-amplitude modulations of local contiuum and we'd all get our heat setpoints locally randomized until your liver is three bits thereabouts and burning and inside out.

I can't wait to take that thing apart and see how it works. I think I can almost put it back together. I mean, I always have a few screws leftove but effeciency of design counts for something, right?

That's genius, is what that is. We launch that and everyone ones and their brothers are going to want TEN

===World Debut===

The arrival of the Benson Brothers and their partnership with Gyre and Co. was a startling development. Servants and their ilk had worked as Chrysian spies for generations and now they were offering to teach us their skills.. William later explained that he was working with them for over a year and that their help was needed for what was to come. The crew would find out quickly what he meant. Days had gone by and once again the crew was sent a courier asking for a meeting at Bloom Lodge. Thankfully at a reasonable hour this time. When the crew entered the lodge, William and two other people were already there looking over a disassembled gun. Both were slightly older. One was a blondish man and the other a dark women.

William: Fookin’ell Deacon that’s what you and Odele were woking on te whole time?

Deacon: Damn right we were. This one can blow a hole right through a Dirge Beetle. I should know, I did it before coming back Took a whole herd before we could get it to do it though.

Odele: Having to ship all of those carcasses here added two weeks to our trip back. It’s why we couldn’t send you off or meet the new hires.

Deacon: Those shells will make some fine handles. Besides it only cost 434,538 notes.

William: Speakin’o that. (William faces you motioning the other two towards you)

Deacon: Good timing. Here’s the help we need. William told me how you did dealing with Eldson’s black team. Don’t know why Sam didn’t ask you to just blow up the whole damn lab. You can always find another engineer.

Erevu: You would be hard pressed to find one of my calibre sir.

Erevu enters the lodge accompanied by Samantha and Samuel. Emilia holds on to Samantha’s skirt but lights up when she sees Deacon and Odele.

Emilia: Uncle Deacon! Auntie Odele! (The young girl runs over and gives the two hugs). Is that the new Emil model? Did you fix the dampener this time? The recoil wasn’t bad but having the weight near the front made it harder to shoot. Especially with Taffy rounds. The two stage system sometimes jams if fired at a higher angle.

Deacon: This one’s a new model sweetheart. Had to give it more power to hunt some of the bigger game we were going after.

Emilia: Can I shoot it with you? Please!

Odele: Maybe when you’re older honey. Even Deacon had trouble with it. You’re so small it would take it with you if you tried.

Gerald, Basil, a woman with fair skin and bright reddish orange hair enter the lodge. Pleasantries are made as you overhear the woman’s name is Lily Bloom. The oldest daughter, Lily is a doctor of high renown and runs Bloom Medical, a subsidiary that sells medical supplies and equipment. A brief moment later an older gentlemen enters.

Samuel: Aster! It’s been some time. I hope your airship from Capital was comfortable.
>>
Aster Bloom, an aging man with tired eyes, is the president of Bloom Appliances. During the earlier days of Capitus’ founding, Bloom Appliances was one of the first companies to defect from the Chrysian Kingdoms. A modest business at the time grew into the largest company in Laissez and eventually the northern region of Capitus. Aster held the northern council seat until the last election.

Aster: It’s good to see you all. I’ve been busy making preparations in Capital. The 48th Vitas Fair will be happening in three months. I’ve talked with some of my colleagues and pulled several favors. Aster walks over to Samantha before handing her a sapphire blue sash. Samantha your time has come. Our work will be on display in the main mall right in front of Capital Tower. Come now everyone. We have much to talk about.

Everyone finds a seat around the lodge. You take your time introducing yourselves to the others. Talk of the fair excites everyone. What you learn from the exchanges is that what started as a forum for the fledgling businesses of Capitus turned into one of the premier events in all of Chryse. Locals to heads of states come to Capital to marvel at the latest and greatest inventions found all over Vitas. To be presenting in the mall is the height of honor for any business or inventor. After some time, Aster knocks on his cane to get everyone’s attention.

Aster: With the possibility of Eldson having shared your Gyre technology with the Chrysians we’re led to believe he may be scheming something. With him being on the Council it’s hard to know what his intentions are. My contacts along with friends of Gerald have some information to share with you. Gerald would you please?

The fencer stands up and lays a bag on the central table before opening it. It contains parts of an automaton that has clearly seen combat.

Gerald: Some contact of ours gave us these remains. A Chrysian hamlet was attacked by one of these automatons after it went wild and was subsequently brought down by a colleague of mine. We are worried that Eldson is helping the Chrysians arm themselves with his automatons powered by Gyre technology. Knowing how nobles are they aren’t keen on giving this type of weaponry to their common soldiers so having automatons that follow all orders would be ideal. However if these things have been going on rampages much like the one you fought in Helman Hollow and this one, I’m led to believe he is far from ready.

Lily: Even if it’s only speculation and he’s not close to achieving this, we can’t let this happen.

Samantha (somberly): We’ll ultimately be held responsible

William: If Eldson is a traitor why haven’t te rest of te council try te string the bastard up?!
>>
Erevu: The Council isn’t completely united. There are some that could see this as a way to gain more control. And sadly there is no definitive proof. Even my testimony would hold little weight as one of my conditions for working with Eldson was that there be no record of employment. I was never fond of the man and could easily find a position in the Astrivium so I didn’t expect this to happen.

Aster: Yes. You wouldn’t think it but there are some still that want to be a part of the Chrysian Kingdoms. After the Marx riots there were some business owners that considered the original offers of nobility granted right before Capitus succeeded.

Basil: So you think Eldson is taking his automatons to the Chrysians to get himself a kingdom?

Aster: Possibly. There’s a few details that are still bothersome. From the reports I’ve read so far the automatons are far from competent. They’re nearly brainless and cannot follow complex orders. They wouldn’t make ideal soldiers. Not even mentioning they are little more than wild animals.

Erevu: On top of that, considering the complexity of these machines it would be cheaper to make conventional weapons and give them to 20 soldiers.

Deacon: In most cases yes but they explode when damaged enough don’t they? And only four of them gave these guys hell right even with Gyre technology? Even when they were mopping the floor against twelve trained soldiers? They were Eldson’s goons but even that cheap bastard doesn’t cheap out on security if our engineer over here was so valuable.

Erevu chuckles: If I was so valuable I don’t think he would have sent one of those himself to kill me. Then again I figure he might have wised up to my betrayal.

Deacon ponders a bit and continues: Strap one of these things with a vibroblade and enough explosives to take out a block and let them loose in key areas. You’d do far more damage than twenty boots ever could.

Samantha: Using the right catalyst they could destabilize a Gyre field and do more than that. It took years to even get the Prometheus to be handled safely. Eldson’s funding was key in being able to do just that so he’s completely aware of what a Gyre field collapse could do.

William: Sorreh te inteject but I ain’t sure they’re completely brainless. We heard one talking.

Erevu: Talk? Impossible. They can’t talk, even when we used Pugilla brain stems they would let out roars but nothing close to language.

William motions towards you all: We’ll if ye don’t believe me talk to them. They were in that hell hole with’em.

Erevu asks you what happened in the cave. After hearing you he’s taken aback and is silent for some time. Finally he speaks clearly shaken.

Erevu: Samantha… do you still have the remains of the one that you saw in the cave?! We need to confirm something. Lily, please come with us as well.

Samantha: Yes I do. Come on Emilia.

The two women and child leave with the old engineer hastily. A din of confusion spreads until a beat of Aster’s cane regains control.
>>
Aster: Curious. In any case we will need to prepare for the Vitas fair. Samuel you and your sister have worked your whole lives for this. I know even we were skeptical but debuting at the fair will put any doubt as to what Gyre technology is capable of.

Samuel: While I am excited at the prospect Aster I’m kind of surprised. The council would only let us sell some of our technology and was wary of what it could do. Why the sudden change in mood?

Aster smirks wryly: A good question Samuel. There are some who believe Eldon’s ambitions could lead him to do something drastic. They would like you to show the Chrysians and anyone else why it would be foolish to offend Capitus. Also… (Aster pulls a piece of parchment from his coat. It’s dossiers on suspected spies and known spies and their recorded movements.) they believe the Chrysians are already making moves. While this is to be expected and something we always prepared for during the fair, the Chrysians are behaving erratically. It’s not the spy movements that are startling it’s the lack of movement. There has been no spy activity towards Umbridge Electric nor any other major players. Most of the activity has been towards us.

Gerald: So it would seem they are aware of our activity. The Chrysian nobility have some of the best spy networks in all of Vitas.

Geoffrey Benson: And is why my dear old friend has asked for my help once again.

No one had noticed Benson sitting in the middle of the room. The servant’s ability to infiltrate was second to none.

Gerald: Entertaining as always Benson. Have you found anything?

Benson: I have dear friend. Several Chrysian high ranking military officials will be attending the fair. Among them Sir White and Sir Donel. The chief Chrysian military scientist and director of military research and tactics respectively. We’ve been able to intercept some missives and have discovered they are to meet with some Capitian officials. What for we haven’t surmised.

Aster: Neither have I. My contacts were mum on the issue and if experience is anything to go by its likely they have no idea. It’s frustrating to see how quickly everything has changed since my departure.

Benson: There is one more find that we found to be quite...alarming. We had captured a spy and found that they were delivering a Prometheus model that had been modified. Some of the Dynamo engineers were able to rework that it was modified in such a way as to cause a Gyre Field Collapse. We are not sure as to why.

Deacon: I can think of one. Sounds like the Tessle massacre. During Elrick Tessle’s keynote he tried to debut his Ventimotor and was killed on stage when the device discharged and turned him into a pillar of ash. Not only did Tessle Motors lose its leader they eventually closed their doors and the tragedy made sure no one ever bought a Tessle product again.
>>
Gerald: While brazen, it’s a possibility.

Basil: That asshole Eldson is going to try and kill Sam!?

Odele: He would if he’s a complete moron. In any case we need to not only protect her but everyone as well. I think there may be a way to show our technology off while keeping Samantha safe, and as Benson has said we need to know what those knights are up to.

Deacon: Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Odele: To a tee dear. If I didn’t you wouldn’t have survived up until now. It’s time we saw what Samantha’s handymen are capable of.

Odele surmises a plan as what to do during the Vitas fair. Several objectives are considered and preparations are made. The meeting adjourns and sometime later you hear the shocking news. The talking automaton you had discovered in the cave had no discernable animal biology whatsoever. If anything the brain stem powering the machine was nearly human. There will be three months to prepare for the Fair. You are given personal time off until your services are required once again.

[You’ll be working as Samantha’s entourage during the Vitas Fair. Below are significant objectives.

>Show off Gyre tech at Capital Mall via a “simulated combat demonstration” (PVP)
>Intercept spies and prevent any possible casualties (Overwatch)
>locate and infiltrate the Chrysian meeting (Servant duty)
>Security detail for VIPs (Protection/information gathering/ pretending to be Samantha’s date)

Keep in mind you’ll be working in a public area and will not be able to use heavy ordinances and similar weapons out in the open. Dead drops may be made available with gear You will be a sanctioned security detail so if you wish to bring the heavy guns you may as so long as you’re in an appropriate location. No sightseeing around Capital Tower with 10 grenades strapped to you.]

With all that said please respond to this post with final purchases, loadouts, and character sheets. You may have another opportunity to rearrange PRTs and gear before you depart for Capital.
>>
[STORY PHASE]

We will now enter story phase. In this phase players are able to flesh out characters, give back stories, world build, and so on. Participation isn't mandatory but you forgo opportunities for characters to grow if you do not.

There are several preparations that need to happen so you may decide how you spend the next three months.

Pick one of the following and if so desired write a small excerpt as to how you do this. You don’t need a wall of text but the more thought put into the interaction the more I as a QM can pull from it.

>Prepare for the Vitas Fair
>Help/work for an NPC
>Work on the house
>Study/Train
>Work “Under the Table”

If you have other ideas on what you will be doing during this time such as personal quests or other means of resolving the plot (and this is highly encouraged)

>Write in

Whatever is decided you must roll 3d24. This and whatever you write in the interim determines how things play out. As long as there are no explicit details or anything that may run counter to established canon, what you write will influence how things play out. If you do I just chalk it up to unreliable narration. There will be minor interactions between NPCS and characters requiring responses but for ease of processing you normally get two actions after picking what you are doing to resolve the plot. Plots may not be resolved immediately and can be continued after the mission.

There are some other things to consider. More than one person can do the same activity which may increase the success or expand other options following that route. Also if you decide to do something that can incur risk even minor risk there’s a chance albeit small that it ends disastrously. In simpler terms don’t expect to live if you crit fail all three rolls and you wrote in that you wanted to learn how to juggle vibroblades.

An example of this is played out below using the last mission as a scenario

Bob decides to >Help Samantha investigate the automatons
Bob writes that the automatons held within them instructions for someone that explained Eldson’s plans and rolled well enough. He went into detail saying that phantasmites are actually sentient aliens bent on destroying humanity and are using Eldson as a puppet. I as QM decide that Bob hallucinated the phantasmite plot when he inhaled catalyst fumes in Samantha’s lab. I may like the idea that there were plans and give details as to what exactly those plans contained and continue from there. Bob then decides to help formulate a plan to prevent the scheme that involves explosives. I may consider that outcome and now Bob has helped provide the rest of the team equipment to stop the scheme.

K-kinda afraid of... stages. And crowds. Reminds me of my thesis defense.

We've got three months to work things out and make sure our boss don't bite it during the Most Important Presentation of the Year.

Health & Safety is big on that being a no no.

Way I see it, we’ve got three angles to work with here. We can investigate ELDSON, the CHRYSIANS and the AUTOMATONS, finding out what their plans is and what they’re working on with it. That’ll tie into keeping ourselves safe from fallout of any potential suicide bombing automatons or mechanical armies on the march.

We can play SPYGAMES for counter-intel, making sure they don’t eat into our operations and to prep our infiltration of their high level meeting. Bribes, contacts, blackmail, intimdation, known associates, plans, routes, exits, bests ways, who the people are, what brand of cologne the Chryssian director of military research prefers, what they’ll be talking about it.

Finally, we gotta PREPARE FOR THE FAIR, this being the pivotal moment in the carrer trajectories of our employers. This means training, routines and safety drills. Anyone important attending? Best way to hold a demonstraton? Can we smuggle in some armor for Samantha?

Luckily they’re all connected. Find out what Eldson wants, we find out why there might be a meeting. Find out what their angle of attack is and how they’ll try to cause a fuss, we get to know what secret tricks they’ve been cooking up, we know how to counter them.

I suggest someone scout out the world Fair Grounds, someone spends a lot of time working on your bodyguarding skills, and two able combat demonstrators work up a showy routine that they can turn offensive at against interlocuters at the drop of a pin.

Julien on pimary bodyguard duty, stcking close to our boss, Prefect for overwatch along with me, Aleid, Meat and Alexander can work out who demonstrate the tech, Nevergreen, Garian and Serval run general in crowd security once we’re there?

The Hades beta-GFE Dynamo. Probably the greatest single feat of Samantha's engineering and I get to own a (somewhat dented) prototype. And this is a Jupasatine compound. >Two acts
Act one the first~~~
>Speak to the Sams about "chrysian ways" advise them on how houses interact and how to play them and offer Samuel advice/aid in dealing with any chrysian-related business dealings

Julien falls reclusive after hearing of the fair and the chrysian population to attend, for several days he rarely left his room and only then to send and receive messages written in a flowing Chrysian script.
He boisterously ended his reclusion on the day the bathhouse was finished by first claiming first dibs, (or second, in gentlemanly deference to the lady aleid) and then cheerfully running shirtless through the home, his wet hair plastered to his face like his wide grin.

"Ah a bath! A bath! My kingdom for a bath! You, dance with me! Somebody play some music! Aw come now, no need to be shy, I was a poor dancer once myself"

After winding down from his exuberance and dressing, he heads out with a satchel full of notes to speak to the Sams about the fair, it's guests, and all the implications that are therein implied, and then speak about his personal issue

Act two the second~~~
>Attempt to (re)gain old/new contacts in Chryse, find out who/whom murdered my family, speak to the Sams about how aiding me in this endeavor would yield them options for valuable information as well, tell them I will foolishly carry on without their aid regardless

All noble houses in Chryse are constantly vying for power and seeking to end their rivals, the Delacroix house was no different. Though Julien's house is fallen, the loyal network of sworn sister-houses, spies, and other allies and servants may remain

===Hide and Seek===

Deacon: A sniper duel? I think you'd be in for a world of hurt if you try and go against little Emi here. She may be a baby but she's a good shot and even harder to find.

Emilia: When I first met Samantha I'd steal food and hide in the labs. No one could ever find me except auntie Odele. Uncle Deacon can I play with him please? I like being called "Ems".

Deacon walks over to Emilia and a ribbon in her hair: How about this? A sniper needs to have a good eye and can keep track of a target. Emi stays with us at the rifle works every morning until Samantha picks her up later. You find her and get this ribbon from her and I'll teach you something.

Days turn to weeks as a patient Prefect is tested to his brink. The first week he never finds the girl until Samantha comes at noon where Emilia would always be standing behind him giggling and say "Better luck next time". The second week he would catch glimpses of shadows but nothing more. By the first month, Prefect had familiarized himself with the rifle works and would help out to pass the time. The third week he'd catch glimpses of her and hear giggling. He couldn't tell if it was the nine year old or his own imagination. He would find Emilia but had found out that was the easy part. Actually getting her was a whole other story. The child even when discovered could escape easily and would disappear sending him back to square one. The fair wasn't far away and Prefect had made little progress. At some point the street rat felt he was wasting his time. Another month passed and he had hit a plateau. That is until he noticed several miscreants hiding in an alleyway ready to mug him. He knew that six weeks ago he would never had seen the thugs. He turns a corner finding a safer route and starts to notice details he never did before. Small details and irregularities draw traces of who had been there before like ghosts in a moving picture.

Had his time playing with Emilia trained his eyes?

>Return notes on the Jupasatine Catalyst to Elm Bloom as a curtesy (explaining in detail what it does, and how it reacts, but without including too many details about the Hades)

". . . and then when the melon exploded, half pulp and half insect, I got this idea. It kept me up at night. Mostly with nightmares. Took a while to get it all off of the ceiling, but in the end -- here, if you look at page 37 - I think you'll agree this makes sense, right?! We can make what's over THERE be over HERE. Product recall's never been easier! Not to mention the applications in personal safety and potential gyre field collapse mitigation. Here, I made a sketch - ignore the flamethrowers, that's a different idea - but this could save lifes! Enchance them! Potentially also obliterate hundreds if used irresponsibly, but that's... that's anything.

As an aside, if you look in the appendix, I've got an a follow-up idea on the same principle. Sixty million notes, eight hundred thousand tons of steel. Here to mountains in four seconds.

But as I was saying, the Hades? Probably the greatest invention you've come up with yet. Jupasatine itself is useful and all, but the portability and auto-reaction enhancers make the dynamo the single greatest personal mobity, protection and safety device. We get this thing to everyone in a hazardous job, and work place safety will spike in the greatest way in two hundred years! Every miner in the world is going to want one, and every constructor is going to need ten. You've got the potential to save thousands here.

Oh, and you can port a grenade clean through a wall at two-hundred yards making the idea of a hardened defensive structure a relic of the past and revolutionizing the application of firepower in warfare. But nevermind all that.

I've just got one question, Samantha.

. . . Why the whip?"

Gairan looked at a design he has been fiddling with for the past week? Month? Whatever, in the end he was working on something that should help him when he was going toe to toe CQC wise without wasting a precious grenade. A melee weapon that hopefully did not rely on a gyre field or fancy tech. It was similar to one of those fancy schmancy pike gauntlets. He made it on a whim, those fancy brawlers able to pull off amazing stunts with them made him jealous. So taking a few ideas from the gauntlets, and wondering if he could fit on a melee weapon started the little dream. At this point the blueprint was just him more writing random things onto a little piece of paper like a kid imagining how he a could build a rocket. Than someone like Lirenis actually getting down to business and figuring out how to build something or, whatever she did...
Instead of gauntlets it was a sledgehammer, armed with a shotgun firing mechanism that when smacked would fire it and also hurt the target with whatever force that hitting a person with a sledgehammer would do. Now all he had to do was find someone crazy enough to produce such a junk weapon. Oh and actually make the blueprint make sense, beyond him imagining what it would look like...
Stuffing the poorly written pipe dream in a chest pocket Gairan smiled to himself. "Should be easy enough, wait am i forgetting something?....Oh right Elm bloom....I guess I might as well tell him what i found out from the mission."

The residents of Bellway would notice a gradual change in Prefect. When they first moved into the manor, Prefect was polite but distant, generally avoiding the others until it was time for work, even going so far as to set up a tent in a near-unlivable section of the house. But, as days became weeks became months, his daily trips to the Rifle Works seemed to have a mellowing affect on him. He would return exhausted, and often frustrated, but also happier and more involved in the household. He even brought home a small grill and a bag of foodstuffs, declaring that he was going to show Gairan how a proper Luntide Skewer was cooked. They were awful. "If you cannot taste the grit, you have done it wrong."
Was it his attempts to track Emilia, or just being surrounded by the smells of gun oil and propellant? Either way, Prefect seems to be in a better place.

===Of Houses and Dens===

Julien parlays with the Gyres and finds them to be more amiable this time around. They consider his words and ask him for more details. He expounds how Chrysians are prideful and at times arrogant. It is better to approach one of stature in a guarded tone as they are not fond of outsiders. Despite these ways most Chrysians are brave without a doubt and loyal like no others with family valued the most even among the commoners. While talking Samuel gets an idea...

Samuel: Hey sis, since Julien has dealt with these kinds of people before and we might be seeing some Chrysians ourselves why don't you let him accompany you at the fair. He can stand in as your date during the Council's Ball since it'll be hard to get any other body guards in there.

Samantha: WHAT!? No! You're crazy.

Samuel: Come on. I know you've been getting worried about not finding a date and that weird girl with the green hair is always following him around so that's got to count for something.

Samantha: Samuel! I can easily find a date and I'm not going with one of my employees

Samuel: Technically he's my employee and so are you. We'd also save on tickets since we wouldn't need to pay for the security rate.

Samantha:I'm...I need to meet Catrina....

Samantha leaves the lab clearly flustered.

Samuel: She's always been like this. You Chrysians can dance right? She's always wanted to but was never good around men.

>Agree to accompany Samantha? Y/N

While unable to directly help, Samuel mentions that Benson and Gerald keep tabs on what happens around the Chrysian courts. Julien also remembers Catrina mentioning her family was related.

Lirenis meets with Samantha at the lab and is surprised to find Elm Bloom accompanying her.

Elm: Oh is this the one you were mentioning. I must say she's quite the enthusiast.

Samantha: She came recommended by the Astrivium

Samantha leans closer to Elm and whispers: Although Professor Auprem said she was an odd one

Samantha and Elm speak with Lirenis about the other possible applications of Jupasitine and the notes she collected over the months.

Samantha: The whip? I couldn't get any of the beta wave subjectors to stabilize in a typical configuration and was stuck lining them one by one to even attempt a suffusive imbuement. The whip idea came naturally from there. I really like some of your ideas. I'll have to read this in more detail. Maybe we can look at this more after the fair?

In the manor, Serval's room was always the cleanest. Not a grain of dust, not a piece of furniture out of place. He had annexed the neighboring room, transforming it into his very own walk-in closet. However, a few days after the crew moved in, some of the most observant started to notice the elegant gunman was here less and less often, off to know god knows what. One day, someone entered his room, and discovered that his desk, usually tidy, was covered with clippings from newspapers and magazine. "Young model takes the fashion world by storm !" "Color-coordinating : A guide by rising star Serval" "Interview with the gun-toting idol" "10 tips to look fresh in the middle of a combat operation". When confronted about it, Serval revealed that he took a small modeling gig as a side job during downtime.

===Elm's Compassion===

Gairan entered the farm and predictably found Elm working in the converted greenhouse. He carefully put down the Jupasatine sample he was working on and gave a warm smile to greet Gairan. Gairan relayed the events that unfolded at Felman Hollow. The engineer was spared despite Gairen's absence

Elm: I don't know if you talked to your crew or what but I'm thankful. When I helped Samantha look over the designs I knew it had to be Erevu. The man was an idol of mine for some time and I still find it hard to believe he is with us now. He's been jumping between several of our labs and he even helped me with this thing.

Julien frowns in concern for a moment, formulating his thoughts.
"I can dance, yes. Though I'm now filled with questions which I MUST ask"
"Will the lady be in palpable danger at this ball or am I mostly going to be there to show her a good time? I understand she works herself very hard.."
"Does the lady know how to dance or should I coach her in the meantime?"
"And lastly..er, forgive my frank nature but..is the lady good with crowds or...?"

Not even a little, Mister Bloom. I was actually wondering about something - catalysts can be compounded from multiple sources. You got anyhing else in storage you want an extra pair of eyes on? I've got the time and the inclination. I'll be happy to offer a deposit for the priviledge. We're going to a world fair, and we have to protect our bosses and be in lots of places at once. It's a lot of angles. You woudn't happen to have anything to help with that?

Jupasoline? Lunasolite? Vocacens transmit, and I'm thinking something to redirect or play with communication protocols would be half of what we might need. Something to eat a bit of light. Prefect's a good skulker, but the rest of us ain't. I've been taking lessons, but they don't exactly come quick or easy.

>Inquire into the existence of OTHER CATALYSTS. Something to black out vocaven communications or help people hide, perhaps?
>Unsure if this a story phase thing. Unsure if "Two interactions" means "Attempt two things" or "get two interactions, for same thing or spread out".

>Practice for the Fair

She was going to show off the gear in 'simulated combat.'

Since she set on this path Aleid had always fought full force against enemies that she couldn't afford to let live. This time seems like it would be different, facing off against someone who, if not a friend, was a least a comrade. While a practice weapon that would barely sting if it hits could be used in the match, we are expecting a real fight to break out and arming ourselves with real weapons would be prudent.

That said, LOSING the fight isn't an option.

As things are it would most likely end in blood and tears, and neither would likely be in fighting shape should something happen.

Seems some practice is in order.

The next few days are consumed by swing a sword, of practicing variations on old moves and trying new techniques on the fly. It is good practice. She learns a lot of how difficult making a new move is. Also that the Gyre field application to an Epee really does make it poke holes in just about anything. (That door need fixing anyways.) But no progress is made on the original goal, and she gets the feeling that she is going about this all wrong.

Readying herself to face long days of frustration and welts she drops by The Salle.

"I need you to teach me how to win a fight. Without killing or maiming someone."

===Solvengraphs and Lights===

It was by chance Serval found Praeda's boutique and Solvegraph studio. Serval was only looking for a hat when Paeda needed a body to stand for a shoot one day and found the Gunslinger much more handsome than she had imagined. It wasn't long before using her connections she got Serval in more Solvegraph shoots and his face could be seen in local pamphlets all over for men's clothes to even Rose and Tower rifles much to Odele's amusement. After spending hours each day twirling a gun and striking a pose Serval sharpened his gunslinging skills further in the most unexpected way. A trick shot here and there during appearances was enough to impress crowds and earn attention. One night from returning from a late shoot Serval was too tired and fired a shot to turn off his lantern. Could he maybe use his skills as more than a parlor trick?

Julien finds Gerald in the Salle. During a break the Fencer gives Julien a chance to talk

Gerald: You'd like to know if any in your house remains? I vaguely heard of the demise of Calvin and Lucretia Delacroix. While Benson and I were doing our own work we heard rumors it could have been the work of Lierre's. Now that I think about it we did see an old man ranting in one of the hamelts' taverns near where you hail from. The man kept saying how the Lion's would rise again some day as the eldest son was never found. Benson found out his name was Louise. Does the name seem familiar to you?

Doing things untrained gives a pretty severe penalty. Pugilist is basically final. There will be some minor clarification on skills and how the combo system works

===Working Notes===

Alex's attempts to modify his equipment nearly end in disaster. After attempting to power a Solvenide imbuement through capaci-joggers he causes a near Gyre Field Collapse and creates a new hole in his bedroom in the manor. He equipment is trashed but he's mostly unharmed. Mostly. He feels slightly strange after the whole experience and Lirenis' Hades does funny things when he's near it now.

===Marie's Mercy===

Aleid finds Gerald at the Salle. Feeling frustrated from her lack of process she speaks to the Fencer.

Gerald: You are afraid of killing your colleagues? You need not worry mon cheri. Your Gyre Field Emitter can be modified to reduce the output of your weapon's attacks. There will be very little chance of serious injury and Lily will be accompanying you anyways if the worst were to happen. However your compassion towards your fellow crew members is notable. I can show you a style that inflicts severe pain but does not kill. Our art is one of defense passed down by Chrysian Houses since time began. We only aim to stop fights. While most cases stopping fights is done by killing your opponent injuring your opponent enough that they can't fight is another option. I learned of a style years ago. There was a fencer I trained with when I was young. She was a girl named Marie, and when I first met her she seemed to be the most heartless and cruel fighter I've ever known. No blow was too low nor too dishonorable. Sparring with her was a nightmare as you would always end up sore or blacked. Despite our sparring she would never land a hit that if it had been serious would ever cause permanent harm. Curious about this I spent my time with her taking her abuse to find the answer. I came to find out she had killed her brother accidentally when he tried to steal their family sword and tried to hide his misdeed by dressing as a beggar. Her guilt led her to avow killing but being that her family name required her to learn how to fence she could not stop altogether. Thus she had developed her own style from this tragedy. I do have one of her blades. She gave it to me as a keepsake and as a token of apology. My tolerance for abuse helped her perfect her style apparently.

Today was a day like many others in the manor. Yet, something was amiss. Serval had asked everyone to gather, as he had an announcement to make. He arrived, as usual, late to the reunion he himself asked for, his shades glinting menacingly in the sun. With an impish smile, he explained that the team couldn't go to the fair dressed like this. To win over the visitors, they had to dress to impress. And thankfully, he had just the contacts he needed from his modeling stint. Thus, started Serval's campaign to make sure everyone was looking sharp for the Fair. Mercilessly, he tracked down every inhabitant of the house, one after another, dragging them back with him to the tailor if he had too. The inhabitants of the mansion soon learned to fear the gunslinger...
