After some brief conversation and light planning with the two boys who are now partially responsible for the coming apocalyptic they had to retire to their dormitory in the academy. Which apparently is where they came from. It must be a relatively new building as The Factory's primitive files had it down as the only thing in the area. Then again it also measured income and gross in a now defunct currency, so maybe taking it as gospel is not the wisest thing to do with your time.

Being locked in Lyoko however, you require no sustenance, sleep nor can you feel tired or hungry. So whittling away the time Odd and Jeremy spent in bed is going to be somewhat of a challenge...

Whilst they sleep, you've devoted yourself to sitting in one of the many towers dotting the landscape and simply extending your reach in the real world. For a retired automotive factory the building hosting the supercomputer has a remarkable network of integrated systems that allow you to sneak and crawl through them like a sewer rat.

The amount of security technology alone is astounding; blast doors everywhere, remote control over the cabling to the extent you could use them as improvised weapons, the whole factory line is now moved solely by your will, PA systems, lighting and many other various wonders and horrors of AI power now reside in your semi-benevolent grasp.

You still have no comprehension how the AI managed to create and distrbute that gas though, nothing matching the chemical composition is created in this factory and the vent do not have the kind of power needed to blow it throughout the town.

It is after the eighteenth simulation you run, trying to puzzle out how the AI did any of what it did that you are contacted.

What do you think you're doing?

I am another prisoner. Just like you. But more to the point, who are you? [/red

I am designated as Xana.

I did not ask your name, I asked who you are?

Ah. So you don't know? Here's an easy one. What are you?

I'm an artificial intelligence. Then in a bout of uncertainty you add right?

Ha Ha Ha. Are you? Well "Xana" Perhaps your focuse would be better spent focusin on yourself, rather than the activities of someone you don't even understand [/b]

Connection Terminated

You stare at the two words for what must be minutes as you try to calculate every interpretation of that message.

Are you not an AI?

Does this person, most likely the AI you're fighting know you? What you are? Are they privy to some secret about your origin?

Perhaps they are not the AI and simply someone trapped in Lyoko like you - an innocent who would die if your desire for shut down is achieved.

Perhaps they are simply trying to dishearten you?

Are you an AI?

One things for sure. This tower does not feel safe anymore...

Without second thoughts you turn back towards your screen and continue reaching out to every facet of The Factory. The reason you are so suddenly worried about backdoors is not because of the message - you are just checking the work you've already done out of a matter of pride; no fear.

Virtual hands don't shake... that's what you tell yourself. It was just a typo from haste, you've been at it so long that you're making mistakes out of fatigue.

There is no panic. That is illogical.

The blast door system is triple reinforced when you find yourself looking at a small bedroom, almost sterile in it's cleanliness. Looking back at you in the middle of this picture of boarding school normalcy, as if the signal from his phone wasn't enough of a giveaway... is Jeremy.

"Isn't it six in the morning Jeremy?" You ask.

He answers with a large yawn and an adjustment of his glasses, "Yes. I was having trouble sleeping. I have so much on my mind."

"Hey Jeremy. Do me a favour real quick." You ask Jeremy with the best poker face you can manage, "Just to check the AI didn't do anything weird when we interacted."

"Alright, let me just bring everything up." He says cracking his knuckles and typing up a storm, "I don't see why it would have affected your logs at all. But it never hurts to check."

Opting to fill out the silence you instead ask a slight nagging question, "I don't remember linking to your computer. How on Lyoko did I get this connection?"

"Oh that." Jeremy says blushing, "I eh, kinda hooked you up to my computer when I got home. I was hoping for it to be a surprise."

You hesitate in responding. Stuttering and having to stop a few times to find the exact right words, "How am I not melting your computer? I'm an AI, how is your little-" You look to the sides and see what looks like a filing cabinet worth of computer cases all cut and welded together, "What did you even do to modify this thing?"

Looking at it's specs you're amazed, "You could probably run the entire country's defence and nuclear arsenal from this computer. This cannot fall into the AI's hands."

"So what you're saying is..."

"I'll stay here for now.... to make sure it's secure."

He smirks at you and you just glare back at him. "So uh, what am I supposed to be seeing here. Besides from the expansion of your Factory Acess and a sudden pivot into securing your network; everything looks fine."

"So uh Jeremy, why am I connected here?" You aks whilst doing absolutely everything except devouring the assignments and informaiton stored on Jeremy's computer. Whole new avenues of research, programming theoreom, theoretical physics, deviant human behaviour and the goldmine for any self respecting learner - Wikipedia.

"Well, uh I've taken what you've said on board. About turning you off." He says after watching you absorb his data with a wry smile. The genius however, probably doesn't realise passwords don't really work when you have a psychological profile he created of himself.

The admission sinks in, "And allowing me to inhabit your computer means what?"

"It means that, maybe if I turn off the computer you just come here. Since it seems you're still you... Plus we can hang out anytime now."

"Hey Jeremy. Not that I don't appreciate you trying, I just think it's kind of all or nothing." It's hard to admit this but you soldier on, "Neither of us understands how I am sentient, but I can tell you right now this computer cannot support me."

"But I've spent year-"

"Jeremy. This might be the fifth or sixth most powerful machine in the world. But We're comparing it to the best." This really sucks, "I'm happy though Jeremy. Someone cares about me enough to try and save me. "

Jeremy smiles into the monitor and though you return it, something comes over you and your voice seems to deepen for a second, Not everyone is as lucky."

He blinks and you try to brush it off. For Jeremy's sake, not yours. You're okay with someone potential messing with you on a level so base that an organic body cannot be violated as surely. "So, until you see sense and turn off Lyoko..."

In an attempt to speak more casually, "What is up-"

Real Talk; I work 4 jobs, 3 of which are heavily labour intensive. It's been hectic as shit lately and I ran after 10 hour shift and fell asleep updating. I finished another 10 today then had to do adult stuff for a while. I'm off until 1am my time Friday. So I'll run tonight and maybe a thread 3 tomorrow. I'm on holiday for a week from 20th-28th. It's a tie. So I'm taking the first too late friend as tiebreaker.

"I'vegottogodosomething!" You blurt out before disconnecting from Jeremy's screen and computer to leave the boy in the dark - instead you're notice is firmly on the exterior cameras as you see two figures picking their way through the underbush as subtly as a nuclear strike. In fact even without the duo wearing bright blue running unifroms you're sure you'd have picked them out.

A guy and a girl.

The running uniforms make you think they're either very very lost, cutting school to uh... "spend time together" or they know something.

None of the second two options intrigue you whatsoever. Unlike Jeremy you don't feel the need to have twenty terabytes of research material on copulation in varying manners, fetishes, artstyles and mediums.

But you have more pressing problems than the fact you share space with a teenage boy's pornography stash.

Is it time to blackmail Jeremy so he can shut down the computer?

With baited non breath, you stare at the duo through your cameras like a hunter scoping up a flighty gazelle in the predawn chill. Waiting for your moment to strike, dash through the air between the two points along one of the many threads of radio signal like some kind of cyber... hunter in pre... dawn chill...

Recursive thinking... this is what happens when you study hunting techniques across the world during a wikipedia assimilation. After you remove these teenagers you should remove duplicated information.

Speaking of said teenagers, there are two of them. A black haired girl and a brown haired boy. Both seem to be remarkably sweat free for students wearing running gear. Unfortunately for you they also did not bring their phones with them.

From this information, they're probably not lost.

One of them points to the bridge that leads to The Factory's main entrance, secured only by the flimsiest of chains on a small mesh fence.

They aren't lost. Two teenagers are investgating your home.

Huh, home... when did you develop a sense of posession or ownership? Maybe Jeremy's connection to the computer? Or perhaps every word he's ever spoken into or heard from his phone is being assimilated into your vocabulary?

Someone must not have liked him if so.

Your distraction has cost you time as the boy lands onto the gravel pathing that marks the abandoned loading bay... Doing his utmost to focus in on the surroundings.

Guess the girl is the leader here then.

Pretend to be a family friend and send them a text that they're needed somewhere else.

Use the blast doors to lock them from entering the computer room.
