This is a quest thread based in the Naruto universe and centred on the Hidden Mist village. There will however, be some differences. First and foremost, the tailed-beasts don’t exist. Yagura is still the Kage for the Mist (although aged up) and the practice of potential genin fighting to the death for advancement still exists in our village. With the exception of the Kaguya clan, there haven’t been any outright massacres due to bloodline limits in the Mist. Some of the Mists missing-nin are still loyal ninja in this universe. And finally, I intend this to be a deadlier version of the world than the t.v. show. Enjoy!

--------------------------------

You are Genzo Ichiriou, genin candidate in the shinobi academy of the Village Hidden in the Mist and in one days’ time you will be taking part in the most harrowing and difficult exam of your life so far – the night of blood. In order to officially become a shinobi, you must fight and survive against your friends and classmates for a full night, only the strong survive, and only strong ninja can ensure the prosperity and security of the Village. Still… that’s a whole day away, for the time being you decide to…

>Train, your life is literally on the line, you need to be prepared
>Visit a friend; it’s possible that this will be your last chance to do so
>Relax; you want to go into this as stress-free and energized as you can
>Go over your academy evaluation thus far (stats check) [Roll 9d6 drop the lowest and halve each score]
>See what information you can uncover about the final exam
>Write in

Or

Relax; you want to go into this as stress-free and energized as you can.

There is not a lot you can do in 1 day to preapere for exams

So you haven't mention nothing about it, but in which time period we will be doing on this quest?
>>
>>1861535
Thats a good question, this will be the same timeline as the original Naruto show but with major plot differences. We wont be following the anime or anything like that and the focus of course will be on our own village and the events surrounding it.
>>
So a stats check looks like the obvious option. Here you have two choices: Provide one more roll and I'll take the best group of the three or take the mystery box option with stats I rolled up just before this game.

>Roll once more, pick best group of three
>Mystery box

You mention us working for our on village and mention in not following around the anime. So we will be focusing more in the shit that happens in our country? Will we go to the chunnin exams? That is if we survive.

We will go to the chunin exams as a chance to gather intel and show off the strength of our country but there will also be major events unfolding in our country as time goes on. The options you pick will decide how much impact you have there (it will be obvious) and how things unfold. We'll also obviously be taking missions outside of the country as they come up. There will be some clashes with other nations, minor skirmishes etc and how they happen will be up to you guys

You finish breakfast and pull out you academy evaluation out of your pocket again. You’ve already been over it multiple times since graduating yesterday but you can’t help reading it once more. You’ve spent years training to get to this point, you actually graduated the first time around and tomorrow you’ve got an even bigger test coming, the Night of Blood. You’re nervous and excited, you tell yourself that reading it is useful, you need to know where you excelled and where you were lacking before the big event. With that, you unfold the piece of paper and go over it. It’s a simple list of categories on a 1-6 scale of skill.
Ninjutsu: 2.5
Taijutsu: 2
Genjutsu: 2.5
Intelligence: 3
Strength: 2.5
Speed: 1.5
Stamina: 1
Hand Seals: 1
According to this you’re intelligent and have quite good skill in ninjutsu, genjutsu, and strength but your skill with hand seals and stamina are lacking. Considering what you’ve read you decide to spend the morning doing some training, you could very well die tomorrow and you don’t want it to be because you slacked off with your stamina or hand seals. You grab your fishing pole for later and head down to a quiet spot by the water and begin practicing your and heals. You start with forming them right, doing it slowly to ensure no mistakes. As the morning progresses you work on speed and add in tree walking to help with your chakra control. By midday you’ve worked up a serious sweat and you’re feeling pretty hungry so you break out the fishing pole and cast a line hoping for a bite. You spend the rest of the day fishing, not catching much until around mid-afternoon. Satisfied that it will make a decent dinner and feeling quite relaxed, you gather your things, sling the fish over a shoulder and head back into the central village.
>>
>>1861605
Arriving home you begin cooking, your mother will be home shortly so you make enough fish and rice for the both of you. Father is of course, still on border patrol and won’t be home for weeks. Just as you finish cooking your mother arrives home from work and greets you with a hug “Ah Genzo, you have a big day tomorrow you should be taking it easy dear” she says to you. You shrug and tell her you’ve spent most of the day relaxing, you feel ready and somewhat excited. She looks at you with concern “Don’t take tomorrow too lightly, if you don’t stay alert you may not make it through”.

>See if you can get any intel about the test from your mother
>Simply finish your dinner and head to your room

>>
As you finish eating you look up at your mother sheepishly for a moment, she notices you’ve got something to say and prompts you to just speak up “Genzo what is it?”. You take a moment and then quickly ask “Could… could you give a sword for tomorrow?” she laughs briefly, placing a hand on your shoulder “Genzo, you haven’t spent much time training with swords; I’m not sure what good it would do you. Besides, when they come for you, you won’t be able to hide a sword anywhere dear and they don’t let you take anything with you.” You look downcast and slightly embarrassed. It’s true, unlike your friend Gato you haven’t spent much time training with the sword, preferring to focus on the basics with kunai and shuriken and rounding out your skills before specializing. You clear your throat and speak up again, “Is there anything at all you can tell me about the test tomorrow?”

She looks at you with concern, she was a veteran ninja but you’re still her child and of course, she wants to see you thrive and survive. “Genzo” she says, briefly pausing and weighing up what she has to pass on “When the time comes, do not hesitate to kill. In that place everyone you see is a potential enemy and this test is designed to strengthen you and challenge your resolve. If you fail to kill, you’ll be seen as a liability even if you survive. You do not want that. However, that does not mean there are no allies, I think your friend Gato would struggle to lift his blade against you."

With that she pushes her plate forward and asks you to clear the dishes, making her way further into the house. You notice she's left something under a napkin, you don't know when or how she managed that with you seeing it but you decide to take a look. Underneath is a Kunai and a strip of bandage.

>Strap the kunai to your body in order to hide it for the test

Since the side of our body is too obvious, it should go either in our groin area on the inner thigh, or near the armpit on our arm.

Push come to shove though, it goes inside us and we have to vomit it back out.
>>

"oh no, you brought a knife, you're disqualified"

nah, familys confident enough in us surviving the test
>>
You quickly grab the kunai and bandage, leaving the dishes on the bench and moving towards your room. Checking the windows and drawing the curtains you do your best to sense any chakra nearby that isn’t your own or your mothers. Coming up with nothing you decide to hide the kunai somewhere on your body. You know this is probably against the rules, and getting caught would be… bad, but this should give you an edge on everyone else and being a ninja requires cunning. Still, your heart is racing as you strip down and strap the kunai to your inner thigh before changing into your pyjamas for the night.
Dressed like this and with no other ninja tools nearby you don’t think anyone will suspect you enough to search too thoroughly. You certainly hope not anyway. With that done you take a deep breath and finish your nightly routine before heading back to your room for sleep. This is the last night you have as an ordinary civilian, tomorrow you’ll either be dead or a shinobi of the Hidden Mist. With that thought weighing on your mind you reach forward to open your door. Just as your hand brushes the door, you hear the sound of a footstep moving quickly through the house. Your heart racing again you move to turn around but feel a sharp pain in your neck and the world goes dark.

You awaken on the floor in a dark circular room with only one exit leading to a long hallway. Taking a moment to look around you see that it has a high ceiling with a vent in the centre, you also notice that the edges of this room don’t quite connect to the walls, leaving a gap between them. More importantly you notice a pack with your gear in it at the opposite end of the room to the exit sitting right on the edge.

>Attempt to grab your gear

Dashing towards the exit wins

And you've made some good rolls.
>>
>>1861718

So what you mean is we aren't dead. Yet.
>>
Checking for the kunai you find it’s still there. You breathe a sigh of relief as you unstrap it; you’ve at least got a weapon to take into this fight. Taking a moment to think you decide that giving you all of your gear at the start would simply be too easy, it must be a trap. You could reach the vent if you jumped but it’s a tight space and getting caught in there by either another trap or an enemy would be disastrous. You opt to simply make your way down out the exit and down the hallway. Quickly dashing to the exit you feel the floor beneath your rock and tilt downward, ultimately plunging into a dark hole. It seems it was balancing entirely on a single spike, your gear being placed at the opposite end to trick you into falling down with it.

Wondering how many people have already fallen and died before getting started you make your way into the hallway. You see that the walls are lined with varying shaped holes and gaps at different angles. Another trap. You tear off a scrap of your shirt and throw it in front of the first series of holes. Immediately shuriken are launched out at lightning speed. You don’t think you can outpace the projectiles but you realise you don’t need to. Looking down the hallway you see that the each group of holes only covers a certain angle in its section, using this knowledge you can probably leap over and duck under most of this gauntlet run.

(update 1/2)
>>
>>1861738
You take a step back and launch yourself forward and over the first shuriken launchers, bounding off the wall you dive into a slide to evade a blade swinging down from the ceiling and then hop over a spike pit. Breathing hard and taking a moments rest in the middle of the hallway you hear gears turning and a grinding noise from behind. You turn and look back the way you came and see that the hallway has sealed itself off and a wall covered in explosive tags and steadily moving towards you. With no time to spare you pick up the pace, rushing forward, dodging and weaving and sliding. You find a rhythm, easily evading the obstacles and almost let your guard down until a handful of kunai are launched at you from the front. Quickly deflecting them (and internally thanking your mother for your own kunai), you dive towards the exit.

Out of breath and just in time you’ve escaped the initial trial. You look up at your surroundings and it seems you’re outside. To your left is a small creek with running water. To your right a pathway that leads towards a craggy outcrop of rocks and valleys. You’re thirsty and you imagine others will be as well once they make it this far so the creek is a likely place to find others if you follow it long enough. On the other hand the path through the rocky valley looks like a great place to set up an ambush, although others may be thinking the same thing.

>Follow the creek

Not always people are only enemies.
Also Op no chance we have managed to grab some extra kunai or shuriken right?
>>
You decide to follow the creek downstream, carefully and quietly, moving from cover to cover. You and your childhood friend Gato spent a lot of time as kids “playing ninja”. He tended to go in loud, chasing you down with his wooden sword and making flashy attacks, you on the other hand made use of stealth and tracking, attempting to keep out of sight until the final moments before you would strike. You do the same now, searching out any other genin candidates, keeping your eyes open for traps and deceptions. You’re travelling down the creek for a while, beginning to think that perhaps you went the wrong way when up ahead you hear an explosion, multiple explosive tags igniting and the scream of a young man. Finding cover in a tree you quickly move closer to get a good vantage point and scope out the situation.

On the ground you see a small, dark haired boy with glasses surrounded by chunks of rock and holding a wound on his arm. Evidently, he didn’t quite make it through the hallway in time… He is moving towards the creek, holding a kunai and muttering to himself how he “just wants it all to be over”. Is he really crying? You feel a bit of second-hand embarrassment for the kid, this is not how a shinobi of the Hidden Mist should be acting.

>Alrighty, I'll take this option whilst we wait for further votes on how to proceed

You take a moment to think back to the academy and try to remember this genin in particular. You had some pretty strong candidates in your class but... you don't think he was one of them. You feel he would have stood out more if that was the case. Then it hits you, Choji... Choji Akimoto you think his name was. You remember in the final exams he struggled with even the most basic of ninjutsu. He knew all about them but had terrible chakra control and practically no stamina. He was reasonably fast and did almost as well as you on the written tests. Honestly, you're surprised he made it here at all. You believe if it weren't for his knowledge of genutsu and his excellent taijutsu form that he'd have flunked out

You watch from your vantage point in the tree as Choji slowly walks towards the creek and falls to his knees to take a drink. You can see his face in the reflection of the water, kunai still in his hand, when you remember that for all his failings he was actually quite good a genjutsu. A brief moment of fear surges through you, as you quickly bite your thumb just in case. You wait for a moment and nothing changes. Letting out a breath you realise he hasn’t noticed you and you weren’t caught in a genjutsu. With that you focus back on your target. He may be a weakling but in this situation he is still your enemy and you’ve been sent here to kill. Waiting for the right moment you use the body flicker technique to appear behind him as he takes a drink of cold creek water and with all of your strength and speed you drive your kunai down into his neck.

You feel the resistance of the blade piercing skin and bone at first, along with the squelch of blood squirting up and out of the wound. Your blood runs cold as you dash backwards before realising that it worked. You didn’t expect to land your first kill soo easily. You feel slightly sick as you watch his body twitch and then stop moving all together, blood leaking out of his neck whilst his body lays face down in the water. This is, ultimately, what it means to be a shinobi. You harden yourself against any feelings of remorse or sickness, those things are weakness in the shinobi world and this test is here specifically to make you face this reality and deal with it. You move forward and collect his kunai, keeping your eyes open for anyone attempting to pull the same attack on you.

>Search his body, he may have hidden other tools

You begin to search Chojis body not expecting to find much when you remove his shirt and see… you can’t believe it… the mad man has a sheet of explosive tags strapped to his chest and a length of wire wrapped around his stomach. You quickly search the rest of his body, excited at the prospect of more tools to get you through the night. You find a small scroll wedged in his armpit and five shuriken tapped to the back of his legs…

You consider for a moment that if he didn’t weigh himself down with soo many ninja tools he likely would have made it through the first test somewhat easier and avoided injuries giving him a fighting chance… Oh well, his loss your gain. You break down the sheet of tags into individuals and place them into the pocket of your pants –you’re really looking forward to getting back into your uniform with all of its pouches– and stash the rest of the gear any place you can. All in all you’ve collected:

1 Extra kunai
5 Shuriken
1 Length of wire
1 Small scroll containing (?)
9 Explosive tags

An excellent haul you think as you get up and jump back into the trees moving further down the creek. You think it’s unlikely that you’ll find anyone in such a vulnerable position leaving the initial trial again but you move along to see what you can see regardless. After travelling for about an hour you see the tell tail signs of battle. Splintered branches, gashes in rock and earth, torn up grass and traces of blood leading into the forest. You decide to follow the trail, either you’ll find people mid-fight or you’ll find someone worn out and exhausted from battle. Either one works for you.
>>
It doesn’t take long to hear the clang of kunai and shouts of battle as you sneak up on a fight in progress. A male and female ninja going at it as hard as they can, each looking for the killing blow. It’s an impressive fight to watch, but before you can decide on how to proceed it’s over. The girl appears to leap up into the air, distracting the boy who attempts to defend himself from a plunging strike. This is when you notice that the girl in the air is a simple clone – completely insubstantial. Unfortunately for the boy, he fails to realise this and his mistake ends with a slash across his throat. After her victory she kneels on the ground and spends a moment looking around for any enemies. She gives up quickly though, clearly tired from battle, breathing heavily and nursing her ribs and a black eye.

It seems you’ve found yourself, yet again, in a position of power over a weakened enemy.

We can dp that with the body once she moves out. Besides i highly doubt that someone isn't comming to check the explosion.

You watch as the enemy ninja sucks down air and winces with every breath. She’s hurting and weak from the previous fight. She must be strong considering the damage that boy was doing with his taijutsu. You consider your options, you could fake her out into a trap, or stalk her for a while and use her as bait… but no, better to do this quickly and quietly and avoid complicating things down the path, who knows who you’ll run into next.

Gathering your chakra, you body flicker once more behind the enemy ninja. You move to strike your kunai deep into her neck once more, but at the last moment and with a gasp of breath she turns and blocks you. You don’t hesitate for even a moment, driving a knee into her gut, she wheezes in pain and you see the whites of her eyes as she looks at you in shock and anger. She attempts to speak and you see the word “asshole” form on her lips before you deliver her the same fate she provided to the boy earlier. A quick slash across the throat as you place your hand over her mouth to muffle the scream and it’s over. By this point you’re covered in blood but you’ve not used up too much stamina, getting lucky time and time again with the situation you’ve found the enemy ninja in.

You’re busy patting down and searching the two dead shinobi, riding the high of the success you’ve had so far, you’re pretty happy with yourself, you didn’t expect to be doing so well. Unfortunately, you’re also distracted and so you don’t notice the whistling of a kunai being launched towards your face until it’s too late. You look up, shocked at your stupidity and form the seals for a substitution jutsu. Your seals are slow, you’ve not spent enough time practicing them and this is not looking good. You flinch at the last second, and hear something deflecting the kunai. Looking up you see a bald, stocky young ninja absolutely covered in blood standing with his back facing you, having deflected the kunai with his wakizashi. You’d recognize that bald head anywhere, it’s Gato! In the distance you see the ninja who threw the kunai step out into the clearing with nothing but his fists.
>>
>>1861942
Gato speaks up, yelling to cover the distance “Hey idiot, did you really just throw your only weapon?” the enemy ninja sounds angry “Where did you get that sword you cheat! That’s not fair, that was my kill!” Gato chuckles not answering the ninja but instead turning to you and offering a hand. “Hey Genzo, are you having a nap down there or do you plan on getting up some time soon?” You take his hand and whisper to him “He’s right though; how the fuck did you bring a wakizashi in with you?” He smiles smugly at you with his big bald face and whispers back “My mother made me learn some Fuinjutsu basics remember? I sealed in into a small scroll and hid it on my thigh yesterday morning. Carried the thing around all day just in case! Talk about chaffing…” Gato then asks what you should do about this enemy ninja, you know the guy as Hiroshi Arakida, he’s fast, has stamina and is smart but sucks at both ninjutsu and taijutsu

You turn to Gato and tell him to follow your lead, he smiles and waits as you call out to the enemy. “Hiroshi right?” you yell out across the field, placing your kunai into your pocket as a show of trust. He replies confirming that that is who he is.
“Are you going to attack or what? I’m ready for you, you won’t catch me! None of the others have either!” he exclaims. You see him tense up as you step forward, palms out, totally vulnerable and trusting. Gato keeps a few steps behind you on guard but not aggressive.
“Attack you?” you ask feigning confusion “We have no need to do that Hiroshi, we’ve passed, we just need to survive the night. We’ve made out kills already” you tell him. He looks at you suspiciously
“So then let me go Genzo” he calls out.
“But you need help, we’re comrades, lets form a team and get you a kill. That’s how it operates in the real world right?” You ask him
“Right… Yeah… we’re in the same class… we could definitely help each other out.” He says smiling for a moment before dashing towards you with his fists clenched. Gato dashes forward as well, swinging his blade at Hiroshis neck, who slides underneath it, missing by mere inches. You attempt to jump backwards but Hiroshi is too quick and with a sudden increase in speed he plants his fist in your gut and follows up with a punch to the face. His form is terrible but he is naturally strong. Quickly recovering you leap up and over Hiroshi attempting to distract him from Gato who is rushing in from the side. Unfortunately Hiroshi has not forgotten he is outnumbered and keeps moving, causing Gato to once again slash at empty air. “Damn it he’s quick” grumbles Gato, continuing his pursuit.
>>
>>1861971
You take this moment to form a Water Clone whilst Gato keeps Hiroshi on the defensive. It uses up a large portion of your stamina but it’s now 3v1. You run back into the fight, you clone moving out of the clearing and into a flanking position out of sight. You and Gato continue to put pressure on Hiroshi, feinting attacks and attempting combos all the while pushing him back towards your clone. Hiroshi, to his credit, is evading everything you throw at him. You take a handful of shuriken and throw them with all your strength towards Hiroshi who dodges backwards up into the air, bracing himself for another attack. What he didn’t expect however, is your clone jumping up and grabbing him from behind. Hiroshis eyes go wide in surprise and he attempts to escape but the clone holds on tight before detonating the explosive tags it placed on its chest taking Hiroshi down with it. Hiroshi falls to the earth as a smouldering mass, a large chunk blown out of his back. You hear Gato mutter “Holy shit” under his breath and then a loud horn. A jonin appears with a mask on his face, “The test is over, congratulations” he says, placing a hand on each of your shoulders and transporting you out of the field and into a small compound.
>>
After completing the Night of Blood trial and being removed from the arena you find yourself in front of a stage with all the other survivors, bloodied, tired and beaten. In front of you are a group of masked ninja and the Mizukage a shinobi named Yagura. The Mizukage steps forward “Congratulations are in order. You few are those who have survived this year’s Night of Blood. You have proven your strength, loyalty and tenacity as ninja of the Hidden Mist. You have shed blood for your village and most importantly, you have learned what it is to kill. Death is a ninja’s most loyal companion, it will be with you always, and you must embrace its presence or be embraced by its cold touch. Your night was long and hard but now you may rest knowing that you are one of us. You are one of the few, the elite; you are those who protect this village, its people and its interests. Before you wake tomorrow you will be contact by your respective teachers with instructions on when and where to assemble. I wish you good fortune in your future battles and encourage you to continue to strive for greatness and strength so that you may stand fast against our enemies. You are dismissed!”

With that, you salute and then wearily drag yourself off the stage, and head towards home. Briefly you glance around and see Gato, he smiles at you and flashes a thumbs up, always the optimist. Just as you reach the front door you hear the tell-tail whistle of a projectile being thrown in your direction. Quickly diving into a roll and standing ready for battle, you notice a kunai stuck in the door frame of your home with a note attached. Pulling it free you find that it says “Sunrise. Training Field 6. Come armed and ready. – Z.M”.

I say the swords are a boring goal
Honestly i kinda want to become the kage
>>
>>1862047
Becoming one of the seven swordsmen is one of the things you can only do as a mist ninja. You can be a kage in any village.
>>
>>1861977
Well I didn't find this in time to participate, but it was a great read thanks for running OP. I don't think we should be too excited to be under Zabuza though. Remember he killed the entire class this night just because and only mellowed out because of a small orphan he found if I remember right. We might be walking in to a blood thirsty monster. I kind of suspect his enthusiasm for us was dampened when a friend saved us and we partnered up. For all we know his personal exam is gonna be a mandatory 1v1 death-match with Gato.
>>
>>1862055
Eh we didn't seem to have any problem killing those kids we spent the last couple years with.
>>
>>1862056
Its the mist
Get close to no one and be prepared to kill anyone
>>
>>1862058
Exactly, we wouldn't have any problems with Zabuza. I mean were both child murderers now.
>>
>>1862056
True I'm just saying the Zabuza we knew in cannon was greatly shaped by events that didn't happen in this timeline. He might even believe he's helping us. Sure we didn't care about those randos who we've been told for quite a while we'd have to kill (if I remember right I'm not sure if you go in to the academy knowing about the test or when you learn it). The thing is if he really cares if he really sees a shred of greatness in us than he might want us to know real sacrifice because this aint the leaf and that's what being a ninja is all about.
>>
>>1862060
If he makes us do a death match with Gato all we can do is win. Considering the purges and mass desertion didn't happen they aren't in anywhere near as dire straights as canon so further culling would be seen as treason most likely.
>>
So to clarify, Zabuza totally has a murder boner and did kill a significant number of his class when he became a genin. That being said, he is a little more level-headed in this universe and realises he can't have you fight to the death with your team. He will push you though and test you but ultimately he sees both himself, and his entire team as tools for the village. With that in mind he intends on honing you into a fine tuned killing machine and is impressed by what he saw of you and your friend Gato last night. He is fiercely loyal to the village, not so much in the sense that he will have a fund-raising bake sale but moreso in the sense that he will willingly sacrifice himself for his village and his ideals if need be.

That was really fun OP.
Thanks for running, I'm excited to see what's next!

Zabuza was always a huge favorite of mine ever since I first saw him so this really excites me
>>
>>1862066
Personally I think you should show us stuff like that in character and not just tell us.
>>
>>1862070
Thanks for playing, I agree Zabuza was one of my favourites also. For me, that whole Zabuza fight and then the chunin arc/capture sausages act were my favourites. Everything felt so much more dangerous and real. After that the powercreep and the seeming lack of serious consequences started to crop up and sort of dulled things a bit.

As for the anons asking about becoming a swordsman, it can happen if the majority choose it. You'll have various options throughout the story to steer it in different directions.

>>1862071
That's a fair point. I do intend on showing it next time but perhaps I'm giving away a little too much via the discussion here
>>
>>1862072
Its usually better to show not tell, let the anons draw conclusions for the characters. But hey at least you caught it early.
>>
>>1862066
Thanks for the response and sorry if I made you feel like you had to step in. Back aboard the Zabuza hype train.

>>1862071
Normally I'd agree, but to be fair he is still a highly famous person especially in the mist so our character should at least have an idea about him and we should know what our character knows.
>>
>>1862076
Nah that's all good I just wanted to give you guys a fair idea of who you're dealing with. To a point at least. The fear that he'd be psychotic is a fair one considering what he was like in the anime.
>>
>>1862072
yeah have to agree, well done qm
you also seem to have good taste, naruto really lost appeal after the focus switched to the tailed beast and uchiha too much
>>
So I realise that my start time for this quest was probably not super convenient for most (close to midnight in the eastern US I think?), as such a lot of people seemed to miss it. So with that in mind I'll try to run my next session at a more reasonable hour for you Sepos. I think if I run in approx 12-15 hours that would make it morning for a lot of you.

My first session ran for approx 5 hours but I feel I can do longer than that if we have the numbers, I'll just take breaks for food in-between and try to ensure I run long enough that as many of you who are interested get to participate and vote on things.
>>
>>1862891
Morning runs are usually bad. The best spot to aim for is starting at 7-8pm EST
>>
>>1862903
Hmm ok that will take slightly more planning ahead and effort but I should be able to manage it
>>
Looks like I missed the run this time around, but I do like it. A few bits of advice, though. You should space out your paragraphs more. As is, it's a little difficult to read. Other than that, you should employ the concept of "show, don't tell". Characterization is important, after all.

As for gameplay, you should give us a complete rundown of our current skills and stats. A list of known jutsu and skills can go a long way. For example, I wasn't aware that our affinity was Water until Genzo performed the Water Clone Jutsu.

With all that in mind, I'm glad to see another Naruto quest. I've got high hopes for this one.

QM got called into work last night so still alive but thread will be delayed for a few days unfortunately (I'm a night manager and my co-worker and fellow night manager had a kid recently so things are a little unstable as far as work goes)

You guys aren't route locked, I'll leave all major choices up to you. That includes where you specialise and what you focus on. If that means swords, then swords it is. If it means fuuinjutsu then so be it, if you guys are into something else entirely then I'll find a way to weave that into the story. This is a collaborative effort after all.

Seeing as Takeshi was the Genjustsu specialist(though more of a Jack of all Trades at this point), Tsuki was the Ninjutsu specialist, and currently Kirai is the Taijutsu specialist, I wouldn't mind this having this character go into Fuuinjutsu or Kenjutsu.

Or we can bite into the forbidden fruit that is the source of many shitstorms, puppets.
>>
>>1867120
Puppets don't make sense for this one. Tsuki had the whole genius unlimited funds that would make it work, but it wouldn't work here. But no matter which direction we go we should make this character a hardcore assassination focus.
>>
>>1867123
That much I can agree on. Fuuinjutsu with a combination of Kenjutsu and Ninjutsu is probably our best bet, then.
>>
>>1867120
Fuuinjutsu sounds cool maybe we cold do that thing ten ten does with weapons in her scroll but do it for a huge shower of poisoned senbon or something.

we can be a genjutsu specialist in another quest and learn from / hit on kurenai
