General Rules

15 min voting period after each main post. Write-ins votes are welcomed/encouraged. Votes that are non-contradictory and add to the narrative will be considered. Think 'Rule of Cool'

Combat mechanics/skill test will be done using best 3 out of 5 rolls of 1d100, unless otherwise specified. Modifiers may come into play depending on the MC's statistics which can improve odds and vice versa as the QM sees fit. The QM will do their best to inform players of when such modifiers will come up during votes. (Example: Aim at a target at long range with a scattershot weapon will require a higher roll to make a successful hit than a normal blaster weapon).

Training with other bots and successful missions can add to your overall abilities. Strong character relationships with your comrades can also benefit the MC as it will improve battle synergy and moral (less likely to want to fall back/retreat). Of course the vice versa can come into play as well. A failed mission may have consequences but result in unforeseen outcomes (In the show, Tarantulus, Blackarachnia, & Quickstrike were supposed to secure an energon post. The Maximals interfered, resulting in the loss of the post BUT Tarantulus gained a new lair.). A Predacon can always sabotage missions to make other bots look incompetent as well, just hope you’re persuasive enough to do so and watch out for those

Also keep an eye out at your energon build up levels; too much time in robot mode outside of a structure, such as a base can cause negative impacts on your combat maneuvers/skill test, including potential loss of spark. In the event of loss of spark, pending the results of a vote, a time lapse in the narrative will happen and a new stasis pod will fall. (Roll for new character or with a high relation level, a blank protoform will descend and your allies will reignite your spark)

Last time on Beast Wars Quest
You set out to recruit the latest bot to enter the Beast Wars. While you reached the stasis pod first, you were unable to persuade it, resulting in it joining the Maximals. Blackarachnia wasn't pleased and while not dissolving your alliance, she's given you a task to prove your worth working with. Otherwise, she'll get the next pod on her own.

Its only been a day since your talk with Blackarachnia about the next stasis pod and her ultimatum about finding something in Tarantulas recently discovered layer. If you can't find anything, your confident that she's going to go ahead with finding the next pod without your assistance. And you know what that means.

But for now, you have time. She told you a week and a half right? You doubt she'd lie to you about the time table, but can you afford to wait?

The forest has been quiet and from what you've gathered the Predacons have been hunkered down, still licking their wounds from the last engagement. The Maximals are still energized about the recovery of Tonguelasher that they've seemed to take an at ease approach to the Predacon's silence, focusing on planetary exploration and looking for energon deposits.

All thats left is deciding on what you'd like to do

>No time to waste, head back to the jungle and raid Tarantulas' base
>Focus on self improvement (help increase your abilities, like when you gained the bonus with the rifle)
>Set out and do some reconassiance in another area, planet exploration might bear fruit
>Call up the Maximals and see if they have anything they could use a hand on

Honestly I think the main reason for the slowness of votes is the fact that you start your threads on Wednesdays.

For me at least over here on the east coast these quests come up around 10ish, which is fine for a good start, but then as it goes on more and more people have to drop out due to work/school and what have you.

I'd say move these toward the weekend, it might increase your voter count.

Or worse comes to worst you could just go for a first come first serve kind of deal, cut back on the number of votes needed for an action and just keep the thread moving.

The longer a thread is quiet the less likely someone will see it on the front page/in the catalog.

Damn.

Hmm...

Not much for it then.

The one good thing about our banishment from Tg is that the Qst board keeps its threads up for some time.

A bump to push it to the front of the que to get attention and a announcement on your twitter account should keep a thread alive for some time, even if it's a tad bit slow at first.

Hopefully we can keep it moving along, I rather like this quest and we still need to shoot Megatron in his smug prick face at least once.

If you were ever going to patch things up with Blackarachnia, for whatever your reasoning, you would need to find something for her interest. You get set to head out towards the jungle again. Before you do you check your array. No signs of anything around but that was expected. But better to be safe than sorry.

You reach about midway between your forest and the jungle when you see a familiar sight flying in the air.

"Greetings from your eye in the sky." Airazor calls out.

"Good afternoon Airazor."

"Strange to see you out this way" She says as she flies lower to the ground along side of you. "Whats going on?"

>Just enjoying the sights, maybe expanding my own territory

"Well I'm just enjoying the sights of the jungle. Found it quite nice. Was thinking of expanding out here."

She gives you a peculiar look "You're having me on."

"Want to tag along?"

Airazor chuckles. "Tempting but I have my own mission today. But perhaps you could help me."

You cock an eye brow. "I'm listening."

"Well the stasis pod that Tonguelasher came in is missing. Optimus suspects the Predacons took it before we could recovered it. I'm out looking for any signs to the contrary or to retrieve it if possible."

"The protoform was already awoken. Why would they want the pod?"

She shrugs. "Who knows? Probably to get their hands on it for scrap or tech purposes. Or maybe different purpose but thats what I'm out here for."

Strange, did the fliers retrieve it? Or...

"Well good luck on your jungle stroll, give me a call if you want any help." she nods as she rises upwards. "Or if you want to give me a hand or happen discover any Predacon leads."

"Safe journey."

Hmm, you wonder how useful that pod would be, you had considered salvaging your own for parts when you first emerged. Why would the Predacons want it without the maximal protoform?

Such questions could wait though, you need to get to that lair.

>>Head straight for the lair, no detours

While the news Airazor gave you was intriguing, you have a your own mission to handle.

Fortunately the rain has subsided; a sporadic drizzle here and there but not nearly as bad the previous trip here. It doesn't take you long to find the area you encountered Tarantulas and discovered his lair. You recall the dangers of Tarantulas other layer so you expect that their will be a share of hazards here as well.

You also recall there was the scanner he was using but with the amount of weather that's been around here, you figure finding it wouldn't be easy. Plus would it even help with whatever Blackarachnia is working on or be of interest?

So now you need to decide how you want to approach this.

>Sneak inside, keep an eye out for traps like in the other cave
>Just head in, its unlikely that Tarantulas had much time to set up before you got here
>Search for the scanner (High roll needed)
>Enter the cave and collect the holographic projector. Maybe she'll have use of this, or you for that matter

>Enter the cave and collect the holographic projector. Maybe she'll have use of this or you for that matter.

You have to admit this device is pretty clever and its projection is well done. You were initially decieved by it.

"Warpath, Transform." You turn into robot mode and add it to your inventory. You're hopeful that even if Blackarachnia isnt impressed by it, you could get some use out of it. If this is what you found here, they has to be even better inside...right?

You approach the front and start looking around the enterance. You dont want to get messed with by the scrapped spider. On the plus side, you figure theres little chance that theres some sort of security beacon here. The spiders dont strike you as the type to want to draw attention to themselves.

Looking around on the walls and ceiling the lighting is poor. You transform back into beast mode to get a better look with your cat vision but so far, you reconginze the few beam trip wires that he had set up. So far so good.

>Keep focus on looking for traps
>Switch back to robot mode and disarm the traps

"Warpath, Transform"

You transform and start getting to work on disabling the defenses. While your not exactly tech savy, the majority of these trip wire lazers are simple yet were just well hidden. You have an easy enough time with them, apparently Tarantulas was into much of a hurry and did sloppy work.

You catch more here and there; again the same rush job making them easy enough to handle. It makes you curious if he even had time to really set up shop. Thats a troublesome thought. No matter, you need to find something. Anything. And boy do you.

You reach the central corridor and find a terminal set up like at the last place. A few of the moniters that are not hooked up yet as well as most of the other screens currently not on. Looking around some more you notice what look to be animal remains next to a wall mounted web with a console next to it. Freak. Apparetly this was his dinner table. You keep looking around a find a few storage crates off to the side. And what looks to be a few cubicales in a wall underneath a work bench. There's another passage next to it.

Where should you begin?

>Lets reboot those monitors, might be some intel on the computers
>Investigate the web and console
>Check out those crates; see what was so important to bring here

>There's some stuff on the work bench. What were you working on spider?

You move over to the workbench and start looking over things. It seems like the these are fragments of items. One looks like an partially constructed scanner. Another item looks like archaic technology in shape but with minor modifications. A third almost looks complete, tiny silver spider shaped chips but thin, not unlike reprogramming chips but not in the standard shape. Fourth looks like a cylinder shape with a dome top.

"Warpath to Blackarachnia"

"Blackarachnia here."

"I'm at Tarantulas jungle lair. Got some interesting stuff here, just cant identify it."

"Interesting. Someone was busy. Send me some scans or describe them."

She gives you a quick run down of your scans.

"The first looks to be just a standard scanner but from what you've told me before, its probably meant to trangulate where the stasis pod was."

"That second one looks like a old war tech, repurposed. It's called a personally destabilizer. It's a older model of the Transmuter. Used to reprogram active bots. It appears he had something up his sleeve."

That turns your gut, makes you wonder if he was planning on using it on the protoform or on someone else if it can be used on active robots. You move your scan to third item.

"Cerebroshells?! Again, used to reprogram active robots." Tarantulas seemed to have a fixation on building his own army considering the number of these chips.

"That last one is a Camouflage shield. A larger version of the Holographic projector but they can cover a massive amount of space. Like a starship...what were you planning..." you hear her trail off.

"Can you use any of this?" You ask her.

"Well most of those would be useful, for building up our forces but we'd have to make sure all the programming within is no longer his."

"Very well. Keep me posted. Looking forward to what you bring me. Blackarachnia out."

You cautiously pick up the Cerebroshells, placing them with the modified rprogramming chips the she spider originally gave you and you add the parts of the personality destablizer next to your holographic projector.

This place makes your fur stand on end. You heard that the spider was clever and demented, but this? What was he planning exactly? All you can agree to is that the universe is better off without him.

You look around. Theres still his computer terminals, the web and console, various containers and the other room. Which should you inspect first?

You walk around the work bench and head down the hallway of the other room. There's only a bit of lighting in here, you guess that the construction was never completed down here. Moving carefully you head in to another chamber. It almost looks like rest quarters but with a major difference. A large circular area that has an elevator into it. You inspect it more and after a quick scan you cant believe it. This is an incomplete CR Chamber, a Predacon designed on but still restoration chamber that isnt connected to either the Predacons or the Maximals. Still its disappointing that the thing isnt complete but you wonder if there was a way to gather the materials to repair it. For that matter the energon necessary to opperate it.

You turn back to the main chamber. Is there anything else you'd like to do?

>>
>The containers might have something inside

You approach the containers. Looking them over you expect that they would have some sort of trap or locking mechanism. While there are some locks on them, they dont appear to be active. Tarantulas was careless. He clearly never intended for anyone else to know this place was here.

Looking inside you find what looks like damaged parts to an array of some sort, a high power transmitter and a strange disk with a Maximal insignia.

"Computer,scan."

"MAXIMAL DATA DISC. WARP SIGNATURE DETECTED"

Hmm a disc with a Maximal warp drive signature...how would Tarantulas get a copy of the Maximal's ship warp signature? And for what reason? Does it have something to do with the transmitter?

You open the next crate. Ammunition for his weapons. Mostly for those leg guns of his. Not much use off hand, atleast for yourself

The third crate has some pylons and coils. They look fried though. What good would these do anyone?

The last crate causes your circuits to flicker. Energon cubes and they're stable. These could come in handy.

Well to be fair even when she joined the side of the angels she was still a bitch, that's just her bitchness out in the open.

What we need to do is somehow turn her bitch power in a force for freedom and justice for all transformer kind, and failing that just throw Silverbolt at her and let her be too busy riding the Greyhound bus to plot against us.
>>
>>1916473
>Can.
I feel like we could get her to prioritize getting home is that so awful?
Also people can change.
>>
>>1916485
Maybe I'm sure as hell not gonna trust her unless things change a lot
>>
why the fuck dont we just brainwash her. like, try to reconfigure that personality thing and plant it on her when she's not looking.
>>
>>1916490
so your going from she never said that to she can change maybe she can but she sure as hell hasn't yet
>>
>>1916500
...You think we can out subtle Black Arachnia. Shes a spy we are a soilder do the math i mean we could prbly knock her out and then do it but i doubt we could plant it on her
>>
>>1916500

Because A. People are going to notice the change in her behavior eventually, B. if it gets reversed she's going to be gunning for our ass to return the favor or kill us, and C. It goes against literally every creed and cod Warpath possesses.
>>
you fucking people
>>
>>1916512
Oh I'm all for it but i doubt we could given we almost certainly have no idea how to use the tech we couldn't recognize and our only options for learning are Black Arachna and given our vehement opposition to the idea of reprogramming earlier she probably would be suspicious or Rhinox who is suspicious of us already
>>
>>1916503
She wasn't speaking in absolutes, it was "maybe do this thing"
>>
>>1916526
By the way I already have an excuse for that planned. We be totally honest with a careful slant.
We discovered quickly that the Predacons are prone to infighting for leadership so we engaged in divide and conquer tactics and so far have done very well for it, such as securing the pod Tonguelasher was in. Not only that but we now know through repeated exposure that the Preds are not only a barely unified force but we've been burning through their gear like crazy, we've costed them tons. We're a Commando, this is what we do, not our fault the preds can't work together to save their scrap
>>
>>1916526
>All for reprogramming an ally.
>Muh moral compass Maximal! She's the evil one!
I just don't know how your knees don't buckle and give out from under all that hypocrisy.
>>
>>1916534
Eh my objection is less to her being evil more to the fact she is almost certainly gonna betray us as soon as we are more trouble then its worth so we may as well do it first
>>1916531

"What's your goals? You can't just be sneaking around for the sake of sneaking around."

"I thought that'd be obvious. I want to take over the Predacons. With you and me in charge, we can force the Maximals to either submit or be destroyed. Same options to any Predacon that questions my-our leadership. But to overthrow Megatron, I need troops and so far, I have just one. A strong and capable one, but one none the less."
yeah she totally isn't planing to do that

>Call Blackarachnia again, see if she can help you put two and two together regarding that Maximal data disc

"Warpath to Blackarachnia I found something that could use some explaining.

"What is it?"

"I found a Maximal data disc. It has the Axalon's warp signature on it. It was in a crate with some sort of old sensor array. Know anything about that?"

"Hmmm..." she momentairly gasp. "You sneaky luniatic."

"Repeat that?"

"Not you! Some ways back, Cybertron sent out some probes to apparently locate the Maximals ship. The Maximals attempted to get in contact with the probe but failed due to Predacon interference."

"That still doesnt really answer to why he would have it."

"Think about it. He has an array and the means to send a signal out into space. Say he some how manages to get ahold of Cyberton and they send out a ship, filled with unwittig Maximals that he would ambush and use that tech to reprogram them into Predacons and with a ship that would have the means to leave this planet. He was always obsessed with recovering a Maximal stasis pod."

"By the matrix."

"Like I said before. No one would ever miss Tarantulas now that he's scrapped."

You look around this place. He was going to make his army of bots or just high tail it back to Cyberton. He might have even picked up some of the stasis pods in space if given the chance. Lunatic. Blackarachnia resumes.

"So are you done? If you want me to meet up with you with whatever you found, tell me know. I need an excuse to leave these days or Megatron will get too suspicous if i leave too often."

>Yea I'll meet up with you soon (leave)

>I'm gonna see about grabbing some other stuff

"I'll call you when I get back to the outpost. I'm gonna grab as much as I can."

"Aw aren't you sweet, spoiling me with so many fun new toys."

Err...you don't immediately answer. Some of this tech goes against your very nature of the right to choose but you also dont want to risk the alliance. Especially since you found some choice equipment. Maybe she could even get that CR tank working.

"I better get to work. I'll signal you once I'm done. Warpath out."

You kill the conversation as you head out of the cave. With the handful of items you grabbed earlier, you're already loaded up on the acquired tech. No need to worry about the traps earlier.

A thoughts do pop up in the back of your mind though. First is that with you taking the holographic projector, anyone can find this cave now. True the only ones that know about its existence are you, Blackarachnia and Airazor, but if Airazor decided to ever investigate it or if she's reported it to the other Maximals, some one might come snooping around. And you'd rather keep this place a secret for now. Or at least its contents.

Another thought that pops into your head as you walk through the jungle where are you going to put everything? The outpost den isn't exactly large, its a just a sniper's nest for you to launch your strikes on the Predacons. You could always re-appropriate the lair into your own place. You did say that to Airazor to throw her off your actual objective. Or there was the cave she had pointed out to you earlier, you could always say you changed your mind about the view. Then, of course, you could always ask Blackarachnia to let you store this stuff in her lair in the north. She's not going to be there as much with Megatron needing her back at the Pred base more often.

The last thing debate upon is stealth. Sure the small stuff you can sneak back, like you are now, but what about those crates. Thats going to be tough to explain if you run into any of the Maximals or the Predacons for that matter, not that they'll ask.

Things are looking complicated but you're confident about one thing. You've got what you need to keep Blackarachnia complacent if not happy to forgive you for not getting Tonguelasher to your guys side. But again you know she wants to use her tactics to get the next pod coming and some of the items Tarantulas had would only make things easier for her. You want the protoform to choose, not be forced. If worse comes to worse, you could always attempt to sabotage or break the tech. You're not exactly a skilled technician but you could always just say the stuff was broken to begin with; they were on a work bench after all. But then again, it might be wise to try and figure out what the programming for this stuff is first.

But for now lets focus on the immediate issue, making the trips to take this Pred tech for your usage.

we gotta start moving up in the world.

I have an idea bring the personality destabilizer to the maximals. Lets rig it up not to fuck with the protoform but instead inplant the directive of "pretend your a predacon, your in deep cover". That way when its used it "seems" to work. Or maybe stick some trackers in this gear so that we know if anyone is trying to pull a fast one on us as we'll see where reprogramming stuff is headed and thus lead us to pods if she tries to trick us

I think its time we chatted with the maximals about what we do, because its gonna bite us in the ass soon. This way they can steer clear of us too. We are exploiting the internal squabbles of the predacons to fuel the fire within, divide and conquer

If we dont tell them its gonna get sprung on us and thrust will be shattered, things will get very very bad. Be the one to make the first move so when BlackArachnia tries to hold it over us she cant and such

Also just putting it out there but the Preds are down to 4 and if we convince Blackarachnia to step aside they will be down too three. Terrorsaur, Waspinator and Megatron himself. We should get in there and crush them now. We outnumber them and have the capacity to have Blackarachnia let us in.
She'll want to make a power play so we warn the Maximals about it first before her betrayal and we can give her a choice, let us in and go free or get turned to scrap with the rest of the Preds. We can convince her to join us because the maximals are too sentimental to destroy her if she aids them. She will be free to do whatever she likes, no masters and no one to answer too. Tell her no point been in charge of the preds she knows they are incompetent.
>>
MAXIMALS Active:
Optimus Primal
Airazor
Cheetor
Tigatron
Dinobot
Rattrap
Rhinox
>WarPath

>PREDACONS Active
Megatron
Terrorsaur
Waspinator
Blackarachnia [Possible Turn Coat]

We could literally end the beast wars right now. If we can convince Blackarachnia too join the side whom is about to win she can remain solo with us after the war and do whatever
>>
We'll be running in this thread in about 4 to 5 hours

>>1930229
Haha Didn't know folks were in this much of a hurry to end the quest. I wanted it to go longer but I guess we can go straight into an 'endgame' scenario

Also I need to update that pastebin; I don't know what it has been but I've just been really fatigued lately and its effecting my productivity here and at work. I'll try to have it updated before we begin but might push it back a bit depending on how today goes
>>
>>1931051
I'd rather not immediately end the quest. It's just we're currently in a pretty good spot if our intention is simply crushing the Preds.
>>
>>1931051
Honestly i'd rather keep going for much longer but it is hard to say no to a clear advantage. Then again of the Vog stuff starts kicking in there may be a change of plans
>>
>>1931051

There's always ways to make it go longer if you want it to go longer, Covenant. A ship of Predacon reinforcements bolstering Megatron's side, Transformers from another faction with their own agenda turning up, perhaps even another group of Maximals with a different take and goals to those of Optimus. And that's without factoring in any Vok shenanigans. It's been a fun quest so far, and it'd be sad to see it end if you're not ready to end it yet.
>>
hell, maybe megs manages to catch us and turn us Pred for a little while who knows.

>Drop off your current items and go back for the containers
>Stable energon cubes

You make your way back to the jungle with little trouble and no one the wiser. After taking a bit to thinking about it you get the energon crate set up for movement. The difficult part will be transporting it, as you lack any mechanical means of transporting the device.

Transforming you take out your Halberd to cut the bushes, vines and larger tree branches to clear as much space as possible. It gradually gets easier but you feel less like a soldier and more like a landscaper. Lugging this thing around requires quite a bit of effort as well. Despite the containers build, the energon still radiates through, causing to you to switch back and forth from robot to beast mode. You also had the foresight to try and make the makeshift path less obvious. Last thing you need is any Predacon or Maximals discovering a direct path at your discovered cashe.

But it also gets you thinking. Maybe you should talk with the Optimus and the Maximals about the stuff you found. While you want to keep up with the alliance you have, you're not keen on anyone having access to some of this technology.

As you make your way out of the jungle and if you see movement in the distance, its Cheetor. Looks like he's on a scouting patrol.

>Double back, you dont want him to catch you with the Predacon case
