______________________________________________________________________________

It is a dark era for the Jedi Order. The Sith Empire’s relentless assault obliterated the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and slaughtered many of the Republic's brave defenders during the last war. The surviving Jedi have withdrawn to their ancient homeworld of Tython, where they take advantage of a fragile peace to train a new generation of guardians for the galaxy and investigate their ancient origins. Desperate for numbers to swell their dwindling ranks, the Jedi have begun accepting older Apprentices to train in the ways of the Force.

You are Paxious Dromus. Once a simple Zabrak farmboy from a backwater world near Iridonia, you have impressed your masters time and again with your command of the Force. You’ve sparred with masters, beaten Flesh Raiders, uncovered Jedi Shadows, and studied the mysteries of the Force and the history of the Jedi.

Now, you've followed a mysterious masked figure to the ancient ruins of a temple and found an odd, talkative lightsaber. Upon picking up the lightsaber, you feel it control your body, moving you on its own.

“What are even trying to do that you need to control someone’s body? Wouldn’t it be better if we worked together?”

{ You can still talk? By Ashla’s currents you are a stubborn one. }

You feel some invisible energy pressing your jaw together.

You push against it, sputtering, “Why not...just...let,”

{ Either I take a risk and trust you, or I take control and trust only myself. }

Your jaw aches as you strain to open your mouth.

{ Stop struggling, it’s very tiring. }

You walk, crooked and forced, out of the hole made by Nazz. You see another series of holes that lead outside the temple.

{ That’s quite the friend you have. }

He forcefully walks you toward the makeshift exit.

“You...expect to get anything done when you can barely...make me walk?”

{ Boy, I will knock you unconscious with your own fist. }

“What’s your plan? Going to...take on the...Jedi and Sith all by yourself?”

{ I don’t care what slaves title themselves or how many there are. When I was alive, I was the keeper of knowledge. And you know what I’ve realized over the centuries? Knowledge is nothing without practice. When I had a body, I should not have stayed neutral so long, allowed the Order to fragment and splinter. That was our undoing. I should have struck them while I had hands. And if I lost my hands, I should have kicked them until I had no feet. And then bitten them until I had no teeth. And then gummed them down until my dying breath. Instead, I escaped, leaving behind others to die and for what? To preserve knowledge that’s done nothing but sit in ruins. When I did leave, I only desired to return because I was a coward hiding behind neutrality. I idly dreamed of some starry-eyed scholar finding me and sitting down to learn. Instead, I only found warlords and crusaders who wished me to be their tool, their slave. When I am finished with the galaxy, no being shall endure a life such as that. }

“And...you’ll make me a slave to do it?”

He pauses at this. You feel the weight on your jaw relax.

{ Damn you, you’re just like… }

He trails off before finishing the sentence.

{ You’re far too stubborn for me to control long-term. }

You feel your hands move of your own accord again. You feel exhausted. Your muscles ache in ways you didn’t know was possible.

“What will you do now?” you ask the lightsaber.

{ Do with me what you will. } he rasped, { It is of no consequence to anyone. }

What will you do?

> Drop him and leave. Go find Nazz.

Just saw it on QTG now.

Pretty much the most overused era after The Clone Wars.

One of the blandest in Star Wars too.

This could be great in execution, but the place it's coming from is just kind of a turn off.
>>

Neat. So you're that poster in qtg whining about wanting to be a nerf herder, aren't you? If you're just going to come in and complain then you can fuck off honestly because this is one of my favorite quests. It's right alongside Sith Apprentice by brine.

Not offended at all, i admit i’m new to star wars and i’m enjoying the quest and the time i spend learning about the universe altogether.

That's some shit taste, famalam.

The title of the quest doesn't betray anything about when it's set. If it was something that did, I wouldn't have come. At least that awful pedophile quest on anonkun tells you when it's set based on it's title.

Like I said mate, fuck off. Go play skyrim and be literal who villager or go play wow as a janitor. Maybe you're an EvE player who just likes to mine and nothing else. Point is, fuck off with your boring shit. No one wants to play your "Durr The timeline that you make up is better than the ones already made." Or "if I can't play as a Rakatan scientist enslaving the worlds of old then it's obvi not good game."

Go make your own quest and fuck outta this one.

This discussion is pointless. Kindly drop the subject and enjoy this quest or any other one, or anything else you feel like doing.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not sticking super strictly to SWTOR cannon since a ton of the story elements in that world were meant to make it an mmo game and this is not an mmo game.

There's a few character elements that carry over and some plot points but the Jedi and Sith orders and the dynamics between light and dark are shifted a lot in this.

Maybe I just want a setting that hasn't been done to death. Tales of the Jedi is a similar era to KO/TOR. But good.

>>1914515
Interesting...
Still though, if you wanted something like that, there is the Bane trilogy. SWTOR & the Clone Wars are so over-saturated. Sorry for shitting up your quest, but it seems like every time a Star Wars quest pops up, it's KOTOR or SWTOR.

“Would…”

You hesitate, not knowing exactly how to phrase what you’re thinking.

“Would you…like to be put to rest?”

There’s nothing but silence for a short time.

{ To be one with the Force is not rest, boy, whatever the slaves of Ashla would have you believe. It is becoming a cog in some great machine that stretches through the galaxy. There is no evil in this, make no mistake. But neither do I feel it as any kind of relief or rest. As of now, my mind is something I would like to keep. }

You think again, “Is there a place you’d like me to place you? A specific part of your temple or another temple?”

{ I suppose you could take me to…no. No, never mind. }

“What? I can take you there. Really, it’s no trouble.”

{ What is this kindness? A moment ago I threatened to concuss you with your own arm and now you’re treating me like a senile grandmother. }

“You’re an ancient spirit who’s been trapped alone in a cave for centuries. I can give you some slack for a bad first impression.”

{ You’re certainly the most easy-going Jedi I’ve met. }

You’ve got an idea in your head. You smile at the thought. It takes you a minute to get the exact right wording.

You suggest, “I don’t have to put you down at all. I mean, you could experience the galaxy. Travel around with me, give me advice, all that. You said you wanted to change things before, right? Well, you can’t without others to help you.”

{ You? An apprentice of slaves to Ashla? I won’t sell you short, boy. You’re skilled, and you’ve got a good head. But take me to your temple and your masters will call me an evil spirit and lock me away. }

Before you have a chance to respond, you hear just outside the temple, “Pax! Pax where are you?”

“Nazz!” you shout back and begin running toward the exit to the temple.

{ Make no mistake boy, your offer is tempting. I’ll agree to it so long as you keep me a secret from your masters. }

You jump out of the hole in the wall created by Nazz and find yourself face to face with her. The sun looks like it’s just starting to rise in the distance.

“Hey!” she says, “Did you see an old man somewhere in there? I didn’t see him but he told me to grab his lightsaber and I’ve lived on Nar Shaddaa long enough to know what that means.”

You chuckle, then wonder if you should tell Nazz.

What will you do?

I don't think this guy will abet heresy and will be extremely disappointed if he'll find out we do

In any case I'm inclined to not show him off to Masters, at least for now. Turning him in would win us good guy points, but would be a dick move towards someone we've just told we'd take into the world.

I wonder what would Korrobi senior think of him...

I wonder if we could practice defense against possession/Force takeover with this ghost fellow. That could be handy down the line.
>>
>>1914830
What he was doing wasn't really possession. It was more like he was Force pushing all of your muscles individually.

To possess you, he'd need to put a piece of his essence in you, which is actually how he was able to get himself into the lightsaber in the first place. If he actually tried to possess you and failed, it could have killed him. Well, re-killed him.

Hypothetically, he could help you train to resist it, though.

“Yeah, you made the right call,” you tell Nazz. “Let’s get back to the temple.”

The two of you walk back to the temple together. Halfway there, your foot begins to hurt worse than it ever did before. You make it back to the temple hopping on one foot with your arm over Nazz’s shoulder. The temple gates are open and standing in the center with his arms crossed is Master Retsma. You see Hallar and Beril behind him.

Ara and Jorraan run out, Ara taking your other arm on her shoulder while Jorraan bombards you with questions.

“Did you fight the masked guy? Was he strong? I bet you got injured winning! Was he a rogue Jedi? Was he a Sith? DID YOU KILL A SITH LORD?!”

Nazz interjects, “Hey, I could have killed the Sith Lord too.”

Jorraan yelped, “NAZZ KILLED A SITH LORD!”

“Jorraan, the only thing we killed were some droids who barely put up a fight,” you tell him, his face dropping.

“Well now,” Master Retsma says, “It seems you’ve found your way back in one piece. I suppose that means you’ve passed your trials.”

Retsma’s calm and casual tone adds a layer of surreality to what should be a major milestone in your career as a Jedi.

“There is no ceremony and no graduation. Your master will pick you and you will go with them. If more than one master picks you, you will have one week to decide which you will go with. You should feel accomplished, but do not feel as if this is the end. The road you walk is long and full of troubles. The future is uncertain. All else may fall away, but the Force will always be your guide. Trust it above all else and trust your master to teach you of it.”

Master Retsma leaves you without another word, walking back into the temple.

“Well that was...encouraging,” Nazz bemuses.

Ara smiles, “I liked it. You can always trust that a speech like that is true.”

Jorraan wonders, “Do you think he’s mad we blew up a bunch of his lightsaber parts?”

“Yes!” you hear a shout from Master Retsma before he enters the temple.

Nazz blushes, “Oops.”

Master Beril approaches you first, “Initiate Paxious Dromus,” she pronounces, “I would invite you to be my student if you would have me as your Master. I am aware you have many seeking to teach you. I eagerly await your decision, wherever the Force guides you.”

You bow, “Thank you, Master Beril.”

Hallar approaches you next, “Initiate Paxious Dromus,” he breathes, “I would invite you to be my student if you would have me as your Master. I am aware you have many seeking you as a pupil. I eagerly await your decision, wherever the Force guides you.”

You bow, “Thank you, Master Hallar.”

You see the Jedi healer who talked to you before approaching you now. Her name was Kalei if you remember right.

“Initiate Paxious--”

Kalei is cut off by Kay cutting in front of her, having sprinted out from the temple. “Hey, Pax, let me train you!” she says, huffing with her hands on her knees.

Kalei clears her throat.

Kay whirls around to face her, “Yes?”

There’s a silence before Kay comes to a realization, “Oh, oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you and I was in a hurry. I definitely didn’t mean to cut you off like that, um…”

“Kalei,” Kalei states.

“Kalei!” Kay exclaims, “I knew that! That’s such a pretty name!”

Kay turns back around to face you, declaring, “See you in a week, Pax!” before trotting off back to the temple.

Ara stands to the side with her head buried between a finger and thumb.

Kalei takes a step closer to you. “Initiate Paxious Dromus,” she says, “I would invite you to be my padawan if you would have me as your master. I am aware you have many--”

She pauses and looks you up and down, “what happened to your foot?”

“Oh, I was injured in the field and--”

Kalei sighs, “Formal things later, health first. Meet me at the infirmary.”

She walks off without another word.

You wave goodbye to the rest of your friends and begin to limp off to the infirmary before Ara catches up to you and helps you.

As you approach the infirmary, Ara stops.

“Pax, I’m leaving.”

You don’t say anything, only looking at her in shock and confusion.

“You’re what?”

“I’m leaving. I’m going back to Alderaan,” she mutters.

Her eyes are on the floor now and she leans against the wall.

“Are you...coming back?” you ask.

“I don’t know. My parents…” she pauses, “I’ll probably come back. I hope.”

You narrow your eyes, “May I ask why you’re leaving?”

“It’s...complicated,” she stammers.

“So, who else have you told?” you inquire.

Ara continues to be very interested in the floor, “You would be the first. Kay knows. She’s the one who told me.”

“Ara,” you huff, “What’s going on? Are your parents in trouble?”

Ara stays quiet.

“Ara--”

“Come with me,” she says.

“What?!”

“Look,” Ara explains, “Me and Lu are at each other’s throats too much. I don’t trust Jorraan to keep a secret. Jac isn’t strong enough. And Nazz...well, I won’t get into it.”

She puts a hand on your shoulder and looks into your eyes, “You’re my only friend here who can help me with this. My parents have controlled my life for too long. I want you to come with me and help me with whatever task my parents need done and if they try to make me stay, you help me leave. It’s a day of travel there and a day of travel back. So if we left tonight, we’d have 4 days to do whatever they needed us to do. As soon as that time is done, we go back home and tell no one.”

What do you do?

> “Wait, what’s wrong with Nazz?”

No such thing as a perfect character. Even if it was, someone would hate it. Best to just expect some bad and some good. I mean, shit, there are some degenerates here that wouldn't A Nazz. I even some a Lufag once. But everyone loves Retsma if they say otherwise they're just being cheeky.
>>
Yo, last post of the night, but it's a long one.

>>1916314
I think it's actually really important to be able to write a character that an audience (and players in this case) will hate. I'm kinda bad at making a villain really hateable and with Kay, I'm getting a better idea of how I can do that.
>>
“Ara, I’ll help you, but I need more to go on.”

Ara nods, clearly excited that you said yes, “I’ll tell you everything tonight once we’re on the transport. Wear any civilian clothes you have. And I checked. While it’s frowned upon, they won’t stop us from leaving and coming back within a week. We don’t need to sneak anywhere until we get to Alderaan.”

“How long have you known about this? Did you know before we started the trial?” you ask.

“Kay told me when she talked to you just before,” Ara states.

“Oh,” you say.

“Wait, she didn’t even look at you!” you realize.

“We don’t need to talk. I know the signals,” Ara tells you.

“Okay,” you say, satisfied.

You suddenly remember something Ara had said earlier, “Wait, what’s wrong with Nazz?”

“Oh, nothing! Nothing’s *wrong* with her!” Ara assures you, “It’s just...that ditzy act she puts on all the time. I used to think it was just her sense of humor, you know? She wasn’t really that ditzy but she had fun acting that way. But sometimes I get the feeling that she’s a lot more dangerous than she lets on. After all, no girl who grew up on Nar Shaddaa can be that innocent. I just don’t know and I don’t want to put her in a situation where I don’t know how she’ll react one way or the other.”

You furrow your brow and scratch one of your horns.

“Listen, no matter what, I can tell Nazz is our friend. I don’t think she’d ever betray us or anything. If she hasn’t opened up about every detail of her life and her personality, that’s fine. I just don’t want to take a risk,” Ara tells you, patting you on the shoulder, “I’ll see you tonight.”

Ara walks away, leaving you just outside the infirmary.

“See you tonight!” you shout after.

“And what’s happening tonight?” Kalei asks.

You jump in surprise.

“Hi Kalei, I didn’t see you!” you say.

“That’s a recurring theme with me, isn’t it?” Kalei remarks.

Kalei leads you into the infirmary.

“Meeting a girl at night the week before you become a Padawan, eh?” Kalei comments as you enter the infirmary. “And I’m sure someone told you your vows don’t ‘kick in’ until you become a Padawan or some such nonsense.”

“Ara is my friend and she needs my help with something,” you reply.

“Right,” Kalei says, “Now let’s take a look at that foot.”

You sit down on the table and Kalei bends over and begins examining your foot. You wince as she touches each bruise and moves joints in directions you’d forgotten it could go.

“What in NaJedha’s red moon did you do to yourself? You’ve managed to fracture your ankle and heal it in the complete wrong way. I swear untrained healing will be the death of me.”

You think about defending Jorraan, since his healing allowed you to complete the trial but you’re cut off by searing pain.

“Ah!” you yell and look down to see Kalei’s thumb pushing hard on your ankle until you hear a crack.

“Pain is your body telling you to stop. You wouldn’t attempt surgery if you weren’t a trained doctor, so you shouldn’t try to use the Force to heal yourself unless you’re a trained healer.”

Your ankle throbs for another moment before an odd tingling sensation takes it over. Once this goes away, most of the pain is gone.

“It’s safer to let the bruises and torn muscles heal on their own. The fractures are gone. Take it easy for the next few days. I’d give you a shot of Bacta, but there are a lot more Initiates about to go through their trials and I’d rather save it for something more serious,” Kalei says absent-mindedly.

“Thank you, Knight Kalei,” you tell her with a small bow as you start to walk.

Kalei gives you a long, hard stare and begins typing on a nearby datapad as she asks, “Do you know what it’s like being a Jedi Healer?”

“No.”

“It’s similar to being a normal doctor, I suppose. Except everyone assumes you can work miracles. Even other Jedi,” she sighs.

Kalei continues as she takes inventory of what medical supplies she has. Her hands move slowly and methodically over small vials of Bacta, packaging each inside a syringe that she places in a case.

Kalei continues to address you, “There’s a small group of Force-adept monks on a moon somewhere in the Cathar system. They’re famous healers around Cathar. A common practice for them is to meditate on a stone they find until they polish and condense it into a precious gem. Then, they throw that gem into the ocean.”

She looks up from her datapad and gives you another piercing look before going back to her work.

“If you aren’t playing Nar Shaddaa Pazaak with your red-headed friend, you’re probably going to go off somewhere that has a good chance of getting you killed or at least injuring that foot again. When I’m fixing your foot for the second time and telling you to be more careful, I know you’re going to ignore me. I know I will never keep everyone, and sometimes anyone, safe and healthy for more than a moment. I focus on the task at hand. I let the future stay in the future. That’s what it’s like to be a Jedi Healer.”

You aren’t quite sure what to say in response to this.

Kalei continues, “The most effective healing actually comes from the Dark Side. With it, you can fix many physical ailments, cure many illnesses, and even regrow limbs. Of course, all of this comes at terrible costs. Blood sacrifices cure a virus and if you don’t do the ritual exactly correct, everyone involved becomes infected from the sharing of blood. A limb regrown through the Force is said to be so painful that it changes a person forever. Even fixing your bruises and sprains with the Dark Side has the possibility to cause cancers in both the user and recipient. But when a youngling comes in weeping for the pain to go away, when a Padawan looks in your eyes and begs you to save them, when an old man wants you to keep him alive just long enough to say goodbye to his family who are on their way, Darkness seems so much kinder. It’s why healers are allowed to harness the Dark Side in limited ways for emergencies. It’s also why we are so often reminded that death is part of the will of the Force, that all will find peace in becoming one with it.”

She walks uncomfortably close to you, her blue eyes drilling holes in you. You’re reminded of the face your dad made when you wrecked the speeder during a joy-ride.

“I’m telling you this because I want you to know that when I say I want to teach you, I mean it. I don’t want to tell you nice things like, “helping people is its own reward,” or act like healing is some kind of idyllic life where you fix everyone with a great big light-side hug. As much as I sometimes want that to be true, and as much as I thought it true when I was a Padawan, it isn’t. Healing is as ugly as any bruise. That’s what I want to teach you and that’s what I know you can learn.”

As she finishes saying this, Lu enters the room.

“Hey, doc, I re-opened the stitches again while I was--”

Lu lights up when he sees you.

“Pax! I was looking for you!” Lu says as he runs up and gives you a tight hug before letting you go and blushing, “Sorry, I’m slightly high on painkillers right now.”

Kalei raises her eyebrow at Lu's blushing cheeks before snapping into a formal smile and saying, “Is any of the Bacta leaking out? Or just blood?"

"I dunno," Lu replies, "I haven't looked under the bandages."

Kalei's smile tightens ever so slightly as she says, "I'll be right with you."

Kalie turns back to you and says, "Initiate Paxious, I am excited to see what kind of Jedi you’ll become, regardless of your choice of master.”

"I'll find you at lunch!" Lu shouts after you.

"You'll find him at lunch provided you can repeat to me the proper procedure for taking care of your stitches and what to do if they break."
"Lu's smile drops and he says, "I'll...see you eventually."

You leave the infirmary and realize, you haven’t slept in over 24 hours. You wander back to the Initiate dormitory and collapse on your bed in the mid-morning.

Decisions, decisions...

I'm inclined towards Beril or Kalei desu, but I know people were excited about Hallar
>>
>>1916721
Master Hallar? Nah brah. It's Beril or begone.
>>
>>1916721
Kalei ftw
>>
pls we all know we're going to get tutored by lightsaber-ghost after we do something really fucking dumb and get kicked out.
>>
i like kalei, she seems like a no bullshit kinda master, like she'd really push us to do shit.
>>
Just now getting caught up, Kalei and saber-ghost seem fairly complimentary.
>>
>>1916721
I was leaning heavily towards Beril but Kalei is making me really reconsider
>>
maybe the lightsaber could give us good perspective on which master would be a good fit
>>
Beril seems like the more interesting choice. We get to explore ancient jedi ruins and be space indiana jones.
>>
Yo We're running again on Sunday. Might post a few updates tonight though.

You’re on a battlefield. You hear the blaster fire and yells of, “Move forward!” as you study the endless rolling hills being pelted with explosions as small groups of soldiers advance up and down them, pushing forward and being pushed back.

A soft voice groans to your left and you look to see one of the soldiers without a leg. He’s Zabrak, like you. You run over and close your eyes and begin to heal. To your amazement, his leg starts to reattach, his wounds fill in with flesh.

But the flesh starts to bubble over his skin, seeping onto the ground. You see pain and horror in his eyes as he chokes on flesh, as the skin and bone and fat grow larger than him, engulfing his whole body. You try to stop, you try to put things back where they belong.

You place your hands on his body and an explosion of blood and bone throws you back. You clutch your face, your eyes stinging from the blood and pain echoing through your body when a voice comes to you.

{ Boy, your nightmares are only fun to watch for so long. It’s time for you to stop crushing me in your sleep }

You look up and see a woman dressed in simple robes, her eyes glow faintly blue with intensity that borrows through you.

You wake up in the dormitory.

It’s recently dark. You should find Ara.

What will you do?

> Go find Nazz, tell her where you’re going.
> Go find Ara. You should go as quick as you can.
> Go find Retsma. Tell him you’re helping Ara with a personal issue. He’ll appreciate knowing.
> Pull out the firstblade, “Wait, are you a woman?”
> Write-in.

>first blade questions as we go about and wake up from our nap/find the others.
>restma because he is our teacher and should know if an absence
>Ara because she is main item right now.

Also, welcome back Bumly!
>>

>Ask the sword girl what did she do. We might want to work on countermeasures at some point.
Did she just wake us up or just knock us into some dreamless trance?
And are they really just dreams? Anxiety about Force healing?

You get out of bed and search for your one pair of clothes that aren’t initiate robes. You find the tattered, faded-blue clothes you wore on your first day to the temple and put them back on. They feel tighter than you remember. You decide you shouldn’t leave without telling Retsma. Even though you aren’t breaking any rules, you want to make sure he doesn’t think you’re off doing anything other than helping a friend.

You make your way to the council room where you often find the masters on Tython. As you walk, you think on your dream. Did Kalei’s words stick with you that much? You’d barely even thought about what healing might entail before today. Suddenly, a detail in your dream hits you and you pull out the Firstblade.

Communicating with it telepathically, you think, “Are...are you a woman?”

{ Am I a what? }

“A woman. Like when you had a body.”

{ Oh, that. Honestly, it has been a very long time since I had a body. I don’t recall much of who I once was. Why do you ask? }

“In my dream, I heard you in my head and I looked up and saw a woman with blue eyes.”

{ Blue eyes? That does sound familiar. And I was trying to wake you up. }

“Wait, were you watching my nightmare?”

{ Yes. I do not sleep and there is not much else to do when you are. I did not interfere at all until it was time for you to wake up. Then I yelled at you. }

“Is it dangerous that my mind can be invaded while I sleep? Can you train me to guard against that?”

{ Certainly, but then what would I get to watch at night? }

Before you can finish your conversation, you spot Master Retsma about to enter a meditation chamber.

You tuck away the Firstblade and call out to him, “Master Retsma!”

He stops to look at you, looking surprised at your clothing, “Planning a trip back home?”

What do you say?

> “Yes, I thought I’d see my dad once more.”
> “No, I’m going off to help Ara with some family issues.”
> “No, I’m going to help a friend with some problems they’ve been having.”

“No sir,” you say, “Just going to help a friend.”

Retsma sighs and rubs his forehead, “Make sure you’re back in a week or you’ll be in the Jedi Corps the rest of you life. Not a bad life, but wasted potential for you.”

You bow deep, “Thank you Master.”

“Maybe this is for the best anyway. Kay has been pestering Beril and Hallar about a duel since she offered to be your master. Kay is an amazing Jedi Knight in the field. I’ve never seen anything like her except for Rogand, maybe Hallar in his younger days, and Grand Master Shan. But sometimes she’s too much of a good soldier and not enough of a good person.”

“Master,” you ask, “Is there a reason you aren’t taking a Padawan?”

Retsma thinks for a moment, “To be honest, I haven’t thought about taking a Padawan since the Sacking of Coruscant. Too much work to be done. I’ll think about it.”

You bow again and run off to find Ara.

You grab a transport to the nearby settlement and catch her waiting outside the spaceport for you.

“Just in time. Next transport leaves in about 10 minutes,” Ara says.

You sit beside her and wait.

What do you do?

> Wait in silence.
> “So, what’s going on with your parents?”
> “Are you sure you want to go at all?”
> Write-in
