/qst/ - Quests

Cinders reach to touch your eyes as you gaze at the destruction caused by the brutal pillaging of a petty street gang-turned domestic terrorist group. It has been 2 days and 3 nights since you, Billy "The Bat" Iwo - A fairly average Banchou-level Japanese Delinquent - have been transported to a magical fantasy world. Courtesy of a terrible truck accident, of course. Now you are stuck in the city of Prontia, far from home. Your only solace is that you have befriended a very thrift little girl, and have constructed a more...modern weapon to defend yourself with.

After a disastrous run in with one of the major authorities in this city, you've been scheduled to stand trial for your perceived crimes. In an attempt to overcome this obstacle to your freedom, you have undergone a quest to help clear your character, one which involves the disappearance and brutal murder of beautiful ladies. You had just successfully defended the lives and honor of three gorgeous young maidens from the clutches of three, horrific, giant kidnappers. After a long, hard fought battle, you and your allies have sought to return to your base of operations, the local city Guild Hall, where adventurers can find rest, relaxation, and quests. Unfortunately, the neighborhood adjacent to this Guild Hall is in ruins from the devastation of a violent Prontian gang, whom call themselves "The Unbreakable Brotherhood".

___________________________________

Son of a bitch! Just after defeating some huge freakishly muscled freaks, some asshole had burned the damn neighborhood to the ground in your absence. SHIT! Victims walk the street as you are addressed by a guard from the Guild Hall, accompanied by your friend from the Guild Hall, Henrietta, and your little-girl sidekick, Charlotte. The guard was talking to Henrietta and you about the attack from the violent gangbangers.

"The Brotherhood has been more active after the Order of the Silver Crown stopped lending Prontia all of their support."

The guard seems to give you a stink eye as he says this. Hey! It's not your fault their bastard of a knight-captain got your name wrong.

"It's strange, the brotherhood's attacks have been very chaotic as of late, to even think of hitting this deep into the north-center of Prontia. I wonder what they want?"

Henrietta responds to the guard with a very good question.

"They've been taking all sorts of stuff, it's hard to understand what they're really after. They've always been petty street thugs, but this kind of attack is far greater in scale than what their normally capable of doing."

Interesting. This is not a normal change in activity, and it makes you more than a little curious of their intent...knowing these gangster types well. On the other hand, you're quite tired right now, having almost died earlier today.

Delinquent Traits 1.0.1
Theses are the character traits that make you who you are, and with them comes both benefits and drawbacks that are befitting of your brash, trouble-making personality.

>1) Your traits are kept track of through points, a Trait Score, which will rise and fall as you chose your options. Such traits unlock special dialog prompts that are unique to you. Often times it is a high-risk, high reward option that requires a roll for success and other times a bonus just for maintaining it. The modified prompts is not necessarily beneficial or harmful, simply the embodiment of a trait.
>2) Successful rolls will give great benefits in the story, while failures might complicate things. Regardless of success or failure, choosing the modified prompt will cause a gain in points dependent on the situation (+3 or greater), while choosing not to use the prompt given will result in a loss of points (-2).
>3) You may use your points to modify your “Write in” responses with your traits, which will give bonuses to the results if the response is appropriate to those traits, at the cost of (-2) points.
>4) You may modify a response with more than one trait if appropriate for increased chances, and I encourage “Write in” responses, awarding particularly good responses by potentially refunding points spent. You lose this ability for a particular trait if you have a Trait Score of 2 or less.
>5) Higher Trait Scores increase the likelyhood of modified prompts appearing. Lower scores do the opposite. The relative difference in numbers has some affect towards which type of modified prompt is given.
>6) You may burn any of these points on given prompts as well to gain an additional bonus, provided the prompt does not already have the modifier on it already. Spend your points carefully, and try to find a balance, for once a trait score hits 0, your ability to take advantage of that trait is gone forever, having “gone soft.” I will make sure you are aware of the Trait Score values at all times as well as clarify any questions and feedback if necessary.

The more you think about it, the more these Brotherhood of Bastards piss you off. Who in the FUCK thinks it's okay to fuck with YOUR turf. Nobody who has working brain, that's who!

"I'M GOING TO KILL THOSE BASTARDS! NO ONE FUCKS WITH OUR TURF!"

Henrietta and the Guild Guardian are both startled by your angry outburst. You grab the guard by the gorget of his armor and pull him in, before firing off questions.

"Where did they come from!?"
"What did they use!?"
"What did they take!?"

The guard, who already doesn't seem to like you very much, bats your hand away from his neck. Before he can answer, Henrietta speaks of first.

"The Unbreakable Brotherhood is based in the west side of Prontia."

The guard then answers another, before being kinda a dick.

"...and, if the other victims were to be believed, they had peculiarly high-quality weapons. Apparently, some of them were swinging flaming swords around. Look buddy, I would like to stay and chat, but I need to help the victims out here first, before I exchange pleasantries with the guy who got rid of our best support in fighting this street filth. Have a good night, Henrietta. Exchanging goodbyes, the guard goes about his work.

"He didn't have to be so rude about it." Henrietta says in your defense.

Damn that guy. If you want to do more about this, your going to have to figure it out later. At least you know where they live an what you're up against. Almost good enough to go knock on their door already.

Before you get a chance to think more about a new adversary to kneecap with your bat, your focus is broken by a familiar rumbling sound.

"...So hungry..."

The little girl in your arms is hungry. AGAIN. While it ticks you off a bit how somebody could be so gluttonous, you promised to feed her sweets after you let her get punted earlier. It would be a good time to talk to her about her...condition. Either way, you also need to start training her to kick ass like you, starting tomorrow

It's pretty late, but the Guild Hall conveniently acts much like a college campus, the Guild dining hall being open all night, including the bakery.

Let's get going Henrietta, we've both had a long day.

Of course, Bieri-kun. Thank you so much for protecting me tonight. You were very cool. I just hope now my manager isn't mad at me for playing hooky.

Winking at you, Henrietta goes ahead, probably to go find her boss. The girl has started using your country's honorific system, despite being from another world. It makes you feel a little less homesick, you guess.

Going inside and heading your separate ways, you carry your hungry little friend to the bakery, jostling her get her attention.

"Alright, Bottomless Pit. Make this a good one, It'll probably be your last meal like this in a long time. I'm treating, as promised."

Charlotte obliges, licking her chops as she looks at the menu.

"I want that one, and that one, and that one."

She picks out three different cakes on display. All of them are pretty much physically larger than her by comparison, having their layers stacked high. You are sickened, but curious.

___________________________________

"Kimo."

That's all you can think right now. There was nothing left of the cakes you spent 30 Gelt on each after Charlotte tore into them. It was an absolute massacre. The little girl gobbled up the confections like she was gulping down air, forgoing the use of forks or knives to just shovel it in. It was obscene. Never again could you sit through something like that. You had tried to feed yourself a little snack, but

She is a mess after everything is said and done, looking as if she doubled in width. Covered in frosting all around her face, she still continues to try to lap it up while in a food-induced coma. Her bare tummy has been exposed, having gorged enough to defeat the lower buttons of her cotton pajamas. Absolutely disgusting. Your fighting spirit burns as you think about how hard your gonna work this pig so she can stop eating like a starving animal and start to get in shape.

Looking around, nobody is hanging out in the Dining Hall. Good. You snap your fingers in her face to get her attention. She is roused from her dessert induced stupor - awake now thanks to the massive amount of sugary shlop in her.

"Now we need to talk."

You prompt her impatiently. She looks around, looking like she want's to run over and sit in your lap like the last two times, but now she seems to be immobilized by her fullness. She is nervous, despite being the only other person around, sans yourself. She struggles to beg while totally stuffed.

"Nobody can know. Okay?"

You nod. Taking one last look around, the little girl takes off her hat, which she wears even to sleep, and shows the top of her head to you for the first time. It's...completely normal...

"I have the blood of beasts within me. We are like humans, but touched by the gods to have these features. My race in particular are called the Tanukin. Everyone of us have good scavenging ability, great skill with our hands, a talent for money, and well..."

She looks down at her big stomach with a minor frown, acknowledging her abnormally large appetite.

>Where's your tail?
>Why?

You've seen some weird shit while staying here in Prontia, but this is the start of another level. Your underling is an animal person!

"We don't have people with fluffy ears back at home. Can I...?"

"No!...Not here...Maybe upstairs."

She's determined to keep this under wraps. That just makes you suspicious.

"Where;s your tail?"

Charlotte adjusts her sitting position to the best of her ability, making a very uncomfortable position as she moves her butt.

You get the idea, It must suck to have part of your body being sat on and smushed up against your ass. It makes you adjust your position, too. But why go to such lengths, this is just silly.

"Why?"

Charlotte leans in as much as her tummy allows her to to talk as softly as possible.

"For a few years now, the opinion of Demi-Humans has been at an all time low here in Prontia. It has something to do with a dispute between the Order of the Silver Crown and the Demi-Human population living here...not that I've been able to find any of them. I'm not exactly sure what happened but...It's not a good idea if I go out like this."

Ugh, those fucking Silver Crown assholes, they ruin everything they stick their big fucking noses into!

Discussing this seems to make her really uncomfortable. Racism against dog people, now you've seen everything. Fucking incredible.

Charlotte put her hat back on to protect her secret. It's about time you guys called it a night. Time to get some rest.

"Let's get back to the room" You suggest.

Charlotte attempts to get up, but then looks super sad when she can't get onto her feet. She tries to give you some puppy-dog eyes as she looks at you cutely.

"Master, can you please carry me?"

You fill the empty lobby with your angry voice as you lose your cool.

"CAN'T YOU EVER WALK YOURSELF!?!"

___________________________________

Hauling the overfed animal girl was quite a workout. It's like having one of those dogs that the family spoils and it gets too fat! At this rate she's going to have a doggy-heart attack too.

You drop Charlotte onto the bed, causing her to whole body to bounce around from the impact. You turn around, before double taking back to a happily smiling Charlotte. There's only one bed in this room. You let out an aggravated sigh. That means...

Charlotte takes her hat off, feeling comfortable with you seeing her true form starts getting under the covers...very slowly on the account of her fullness.

"What's wrong Master?"

This feels wrong, sleeping in bed with a girl without sharing a certain relationship feels, really wrong. And perverted. Especially when they look like Charlotte.

"Master, why don't you come to bed? The Guild Hall mattresses are super comfy!"

"Nope!"

You lay down on the floor immediately in response to the question. Not on your life, tubby.

Charlotte has a frowny face before getting into bed and pouting. Guess she also doesn't like sleeping alone too then huh? What a child!

Ugh. You've had enough of this brat. On the list of things to do tomorrow, Having her refer to you as "Banchou", or maybe "Boss" is on it. This "Master" stuff is starting to make you feel wrong. Speaking of wrong, you have another reason for sleeping alone in bed and preferably your own room.

Ever since you were a young lad, you've had a a problem when it comes to bed time. You're terrible at it, or rather, your a terrible person to sleep around! You have a number of very serious sleep movement disorders, from periodic limb movements to the very rare and occasional sleepwalk, and so does you little brother, and as did your father before you both!
It's a wonder your mother didn't kill him earlier when they stopped doing it and tried to sleep in the same bed like a regular couple. There was a time when you and your little brother slept together in the same bed when you were younger, and god was it awful. Between constantly being kicked out of bed, the strange positions, feeling like you beat each other up while asleep in the morning and waking up with black eye every so often fucking sucked. Here on the floor should be more a adequate place to sleep for now. You grab Charlotte's big soft backpack to use as a pillow as you make yourself comfortable in the center of the room on the ground. Time to sleep for the first time since you got here without having to be knocked the fuck out.

"Goodnight"

"Night-Night"

Roll to sleep.

Rolled 18: Sleep Rating: Nightmares of the Past
I'll always take the lowest roll when you sleep! Roll if you dare! Muahaha!

"You ready for me to kick your ass, Billy?"

"You can try you fucking loser."

You were having baseball practice like in the good old days. Before even middle school. when one of your teammates really pissed you off - Uwari Sendo. After having a little disagreement, the two of you are already squaring up. Fuck him, he started it, and now your going to finish it. The rest of your team cheers for you both, watching in a loose circle around you as they egg the fight on.

He's bigger, but you were always a fantastic scrapper. Violence is your greatest talent.

You both give each other a few good licks, but now you have the upper hand, straddling him, and messing up his pale face with your fists as you perform the ground and pound. Feels really good!

You try to punch his face again, but there's a strong grip around your arm. Who the heck is stopping you?

Oh shit, it's your Dad!
...But it's not your Dad, this Dad has the face of a Youkai! His teeth jut grotesquely from his mouth as his evil eyes penetrate your soul. And he's got his belt too!

You see Uwari-san crying like a little bitch on the ground covering his face as you're bent over Demon-Dad's knee, he's about to open a really old fashion style of punishment right unto your tender young cheeks. It hurts like fuck, but you're more concerned with the way the baseball team laughs at the humiliating display. Demon-Dad doesn't give a single flying fuck about your feelings as he continues to torture you with corporal punishment. He just breathes fire as he wails on your ass with his flaming belt, curses shooting out of his toothy mouth and branding your asshole as he whoops the shit out of you in front of your friends. You do your best to hold back the bitter tears as everyone indulges in your physical and emotional pain.

"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCK!!!!!"

___________________________________

"MASTER PLEASE STOP!!!!"

You wake up to find yourself on the bed in the room. Judging from the lack light in the window, it's still way to be early to be awake, perhaps just a little before the crack of dawn. Judging by the way the temperature has dropped and there's a few shards on the ground, you were busy tonight. You feel your fists all and your left palm kinda tingly. Well shit.

Looking down, you have Charlotte bent over your knee, crying uncontrollably as you dish out punishment just like your father would. Right on her chunky, tender behind. Her ass is very red now. She'll be extra uncomfortable sitting today.

Hey look! you found her tail, It's very fluffy and round, with dark rings running around it. You were holding it as you spanked her.

"W-W-What Di-hic-Did I doooooo!?!!"

You look to the blubbering tail you're currently holding, the window shards on the ground, and back to the sleepy woman peering into your room.

PANIC.

What the heck are you going to do!? You don't even remember what you actually did, aside from spank the actual snot out of Charlotte and smash the window. Did you...fall out of the room. That shit is at least two stories. How in the fuck are you going to explain this?

DC 70: Rolled 99 - Lucky!

You drop the sobbing mess of the girl you just whupped the crap out of. Charlotte, taking advantage of the situation, despite her current state of butt-devastation, crawls under the bed in an attempt to hide her secret, biting back bitter tears.

You notice that Henrietta is quite tired and holds her head, trying to get over both a massive hangover and whatever exhaustion being afraid for her life brought her as a target for kidnapping. Her eyes are very heavy. She doesn't understand much right now, you think.

You don't even get the chance to explain the situation first before she breaks the silence. She blinks a few times, totally unaware

"Bieri-kun, Please keep it down at night. Others are sleeping."

Eh?

Henrietta promptly leaves the room. You use the opportunity to go grab your monster from under the bed and let her know that the coast is clear.

"It's safe to come out, I don't think she saw anything."

"..."

Your sitting down with Charlotte, trying to explain your very strange condition. She's a little mad at you for pummeling her round little bottom so savagely. She looks at from the side.

"I'll forgive youuuu."

You let out a big sigh. Glad we're on the same page.

"So what actually happened to me while I was sleepwalking?"

Charlotte stops being mad completely, now just more in awe and shock.

"It was crazy, I woke up late at night to come snuggl-I mean check on you, but you were walking around already. I tried to get your attention, but you were all punchy and stuff. And then you shouted "SATTENDO KORE!!!" and jumped out the window. You punched a tree to death and then ran off! I tried to follow you, but you were gone. When you came back an hour latter, you threw this into the room before..."

She shudders to think about the assault on her hiney before continuing. She hands you a gem. It's purple, and you have no idea what it does.

Obtained: Purple Gem

Well at least that's something, You'll look at it later. You fall asleep on the floor without further incident. Tomorrow you start Charlotte's training and get to the bottom of that murder mystery.

Feeling that your body is twisted into a strange position wakes you up. Your arms are both crossed over your body in an exaggerated self-hug, a typical occurrence for you. You take a look outside of the shattered window to gauge the time, letting it dawn on you that someone will most likely have to pay for that. The sun is just about to come out, only a little light making everything visible in a desaturated morning tone. It's been a few hours. The perfect time to exercise.

Looking back, you see your little friend still snoozing on the bed, making sure to stay face down to avoid putting any weight on her sore, plump bottom. Gotta wake her up. Using your newfound knowledge of how to wake her from her log-like slumber, you grab a feather from the nice soft pillow on the bed and tickle her until she lets out a little sneeze.

"...!?..."

The girl wakes up, somewhat unawares.

"Get dressed and get outside. It's showtime."

"...Show-Tiemu?"

You are down in the back of the big Guild Hall, not far from your room. You can see the damage from last night, glass everywhere on the grass and a nearby tee looking like it was struck by lightning without being set on fire. Last night wasn't great, but it's not the worst thing you've done in your sleep.

Just then, Charlotte dashes to you on her short, sausage legs. She breaths hard before recomposing herself and tries to get pumped up.

"I'm ready! Master Bato!"

It's about time she stopped using "Master". It doesn't make you feel comfortable. You shout to get your point across much like an aggressive coach would.

"From now on, you will refer to me as Banchou Billy, or simply Boss! Got That?! None of this "Master" bullshit."

"Yes Banchou Bieri!"

...Good enough. You enjoy the compliance at least. She looks really determined to improve herself.

You grabbed Charlotte's bag when you came out here. She has a lot of junk other than her trade tools, utility items, and a few defensive options. For example, you found a shitload of hand-sized balls. They look perfect to play catch with. They might be helpful. Just like this ID card.

You look over Charlotte's rather unimpressive physical shape, and down to her little ID card. You notice there had been a minor improvement since the last time you looked at her numbers. Did she level up or something? The stats slightly different.

That last one is really hard to see at first glance. Interesting. You wonder how she's able to apparently get such accurate readings. You've been feeling strangely powerful since you got here, with incredible feats strength becoming a norm for you. Maybe you should ask for Henrietta about one for yourself.

DC 50: Rolled 100 - ORYAH!

You decide the best way to start is easy. Doing that stuff you were forced to do as a student in your country would be a good place to start. Such a practice has endangered and destroyed much of the out of shape in Japan.

Looking at Charlotte, you notice now there is a fire in her eyes. She seems to have been able to channel her fighting spirit..,Not bad at all. Now we're cooking with gas! You instruct her on the workout and lead by example, to show her how to proceed.

Charlotte easily accomplishes the basic bitch exercises. She has very little trouble running in place, doing jumping jacks, and touching her toes, despite her prodigious belly in the way. Increasing the pace does nothing to stop her as she keeps up with you. Seeing her doing such a good job leads you to give her some of the more difficult stuff.

She isn't even winded after the moderately challenging workout. You feel refreshed after limbering up yourself.

"Okay Boss! I'm all warmed up!!"

Oh, she wants more huh? You can see that she's ready for it. You pick some of her toy balls. It's time for round two.

"Oh my collection!"

________________________________________________

If Charlotte wanted to prove herself to you, she's certainly gotten your attention with her performance today. Putting her through the grinder does not stop her from the conditioning you did as a baseball player being forced upon her small body. She is able to jog and keep up with you the whole time with her stubby legs. She does at least a hundred full crunches without giving up. Her push ups are surprising, using a real push up form, and none of that girly shit where you use your knees. It is impressive as you watch her continue to sweat like she's in a sauna, undeterred in her task. Time to keep pushing.

You end up winding down the workout by using her collection of throw-balls to test her reactions and drill a sense of urgency in her. She passes with flying colors, catching what she needs to catch and avoiding what she needs to avoid, able to keep up against the ever increasing distance you make her have to run to answer your pitches. Even putting some speed on the ball, Charlotte is able to catch some in her mouth with some sick hops like a trained show-dog. Sugoi!

Even your slightly beat as you stand over Charlotte's prone, exhausted, panting body.

"D-did I do good Boss?"

Acknowledging her hard work, you smile and help her to her feet.

"You did great, Lottie."

She looks very happy to have exceeded your expectations. She'll be able to meet her goal of self improvement for sure if she keeps this up. You allow her to hold your hand on the way back to the Guild Hall, she's earned it.

You take a look at her card, mostly out of curiosity. These changes completely unexpected!

Charlotte's Stats:

While she did an excellent job today, you concern yourself with the days to come, where she must once again prove how serious she is about becoming rough and tumble like you. Praising her gets you a big smile and much happier disposition. You'll have to change up her diet as well. Bodily improvement starts at the table, after all. There was some other stuff you need to get out of the way. Time to head back and get shit done.

>Breakfast. Gotta make sure we situate this one's diet.

Training the girl was the easy part. In all honesty, you could do this in your sleep, without any exaggeration...probably.

Now it's time to help this girl with her diet. Her belly rumbles as you lead the little girl into the dining hall, anticipating her next meal. Although she gorged herself out of her damned mind the last night, she must have managed to work up an appetite, against all odds. This will be difficult. While thankfully not being retarded enough to be unable to count calories as an athlete should, you worry about the ridiculous numbers this girl packs away, being a little less than human. If she was a normal person and ate as she does, she would be 300 pounds by now. Or exploded.

She's still partially human, your diet stratagems will have to work, even if they have to be scaled up to meet her incredible hunger.

You pick her up so she can see the ceiling mounted menu over the Guild Hall buffet at your level, hoping that she'll see all the options instead of just the eyesore of unhealthy stuff. She licks her chops again as she looks down at all the food put out for adventurers from your height, missing the point entirely. You pat her soft little gut to drive the point home

"Time to start your diet, Lottie"

Her hunger induced state of suspense is dropped as her good mood becomes one of nervous energy, probably worried about the idea of potentially not being able to inhale food.

Let's try...
>Just have her eat less at the table, the less calories you intake, the less gains you make. Simple and sweet. You just have to keep her training regime to burn that blubber off.
>You question how healthy it is to have her eat less, going by her freakish metabolism. The real issue is with her uncontrolled binging. Putting her on a multiple small-meal plan will be the least risky way to jump start her metabolism, even if she's constantly and steadily eating all day!
>You have no idea how the Tanukin girl is going to fair if you deprive her of food. You know that the content and nutrition are the most important. Just cut her sweets intake. She just needs to eat more meat!

Reminiscing about Charlotte's feast the other night makes you ill. The amount of sugar she consumes in one sitting would give a man a heart attack over a week, or at least the 'beetus. The answer isn't to cut her calories down, just to get her to eat healthier. You don't want to accidentally end up starving her due to ignorance of her people and working her to death through your training. You address the hungry little girls concerns.

"You won't starve..."

She is momentarily relieved.

"I just need you to stop eating sweets. If you follow the diet, I might let you have a cheat day. Just eat your damn meat and veggies and stop carbo-loading already!"

She's clearly unsure of how to do that from the look of confusion on her face. This is going to take a while.

Breakfast goes like this: You let Charlotte feed herself, but supervise her to make sure she stays away from the crap and eats protein and fiber. It takes a while, considering the amount of times she goes back to the buffet to get another course, having you come with her to follow her around like a lost dog. Every time she tries to indulge her sweet-tooth, you bump her a little firmly with Shinbatsu, right on her already battered behind. Such a painful stimulus keeps her from eating something bad, even though she's in tears by her 6th helping. Girl has gotta learn to clean up her bulking technique somehow!

Now that that's over, you quickly head to your room, spruce up, comb your hair, grab your other shit, and head back down. You quickly stop at the Guild Hall desk, followed by an only slightly disheartened Charlotte, who is still rubbing her ass.

You greet Henrietta, who gets up from resting her head in her hand on the desk to happily greet you.

"Heading out, Bieri-kun?"

>I want to know about those Guild IDs. Why don't I have one yet?

It's about time you address the elephant in the room. It's been put off for far to long.

"I want to know about these Guild IDs. When do I get mine."

Henrietta chuckles at your question.

"You get one when you ask for it, silly."

She takes Charlotte's card from you, and begins explaining the particulars.

"...And Magic is used to link you to the card. The Guilds have instituted this device as a system of classification and identification of adventures. To take on the more dangerous and rewarding quests, this is like a waiver and a certification..."

She goes on to explain the stats, to which you realize Charlotte is till pretty fucking weak in a combat situation, and her equally but low stats are supplemented by her ability to get stuff. It's not the worst thing, right now you can handle the combat aspect while you're here, having proved your capacity to do so again and again.

Interested in your own ID more out of curiosity than anything, you ask Henrietta about one.

"There's a fee, a minor magical procedure, and a signature you have to make, then you'll get your card. They do it all upstairs. I would have had to have you go through the process anyways if you want to collect on this kidnapping case, but you haven't found who is really responsible yet, have you?"

She is very curious about the quest, having almost been a victim herself. You explain that you don't think the big guys from earlier were the masterminds. You need more time to figure it out.

"You can go through the process now, if you're ready. It will cost you 100G"

Guys i just tought something. We want people to like us? Or at least make our public image a little bit better. Since the Ojisan is the owner of a construction company and he on us a favor instead to jave him go and witness in our case why not ask him to rebuild the burned houses in our turf?

It would do his company some good since they would come as a company trying to protect the citizens, increase their brand fame and we can always ask him to say that we were the ones that asked/convinced him to re-build those houses.

But it might be better to do it after we have broken this so called unbreakable gang.

"Alright, lets do it now."

"Head up to the 6th level of the building, that's where the living quarters end and the Guild-specific facilities begin."

The more you learn about this place, the more it's like a strange mystical corporate building.

"What this one for me Henrietta, I can't have her cheating on her diet."

"Sure Bieri-Kun"

She seems to have that slightly dreamy look back in her eye. Charlotte just pouts as you leave her behind like a child at daycare.

You begin the long climb up. The staircase i long and winding. Five more stories to go now.

The process was interesting for the first 10 minutes, having waited in a bit of a line to be serviced, and got old really fast. The first thing they did was make you do the signing. It freaked you out a little because you were required to sign with your own blood. Ugh...

Next they had you touch this weird crystal ball thing. They said that everybody's magical response was different. It is used to calibrate the little gem that goes into the ID card. Your's was very strange in comparison to everyone else's, but especially weak and kinda dark, going by their results. It took longer than the others too because of that. Who cares. Magic is for fags.

Finally, they made you wait to get the little card, it took quite a while. Finally taking it you are really surprised, thinking you were some kind of special snowflake with your stats.

Damn, you've really slimmed down, ever since you became man of the house, you haven't been able to eat properly. Gonna have to keep your strength, maybe take some pages out of Charlotte's book. At least your still in excellent shape. Looking all over the little whit block there's even more stuff on the card, but it's not all filled out. The card people tell you that it takes some time to determine the physical stats, and that your not secretly some kind of demi-god of mystery. They do make fun of you for the massive "Race" column, to which you punch the clerk in the goddamn snozz before he could react. You don't need some dumb bastard to tell you you're a Happa Euromutt. Looking at the card makes you feel kind of dumb. Going by what was explained to you by Henrietta, you can tell which stats are higher by the order of arrangement on the stats column. You just hope your physical stats are just so much higher than your mental stats and your not a fucking retard. You notice that everything is white like Charlotte, but the gem is an off-white in a slightly different shade. It will take time to develop, no need to worry about it. Time to get moving.

This has gone on long enough, It's time to get the fuck out of dodge and go meet old man Morrcock.

"I'll see you around, Henrietta."

"Bye Bye, Bieri-kun. Please be careful, the Morrcock Company Building is on the east side of town. It's a big black building with the name on it. The "Magnum Aes" have the bulk of their men set up their. Watch your back while downtown so you don't get mugged or scammed.

You show her the card very quickly, it's about time someone gets it right! She puts her hands over her mouth in shock.

"...Is that how it's supposed to be? This whole time?!?"

The card is already paying for itself.

Charlotte is confused, not having seen what you did. Well, time to get moving. Nodding to her, you both head out.

You end up in the east side of town. It's actually quite posh and quaint, despite there supposedly being more gang activity from those brass dudes. Weird.

After some traveling, you end up in front of the big dark building that you were told about. Not hard to find.

The guard stops you and asks you to identify yourself and state your business.

Taking the card out of your pocket with a self-satisfied smile on your face, you hand it over to the guard. You notice this guard has the same armor and mace arms of the guys Morrcock had stationed at his house, and the guys at the Smithy the other day. There sure are a lot of these guys.

He takes some time to look over your card. He doesn't hand it back. Instead he eyes you suspiciously and says exactly what you don't want to hear.

"Are you trying to pull a fast one on me, pal? I was told to admit a "Bieri" not a "Billy". The boss doesn't know any Billy

...

That is the last fucking straw, this motherfucker is going to learn your name or be destroyed.

You grab his shoulder and squeeze as hard as you can on his armored shoulder. It hurts your hand a bit, not that you care. The guard reaches for his weapon after you have a hold of him, but freezes as you speak. You can feel the muscles in your face warping your visage as you give your best Banchou face.

"Try saying Billy 10 times fast. You know what it starts to sound like?"

You move him closer to you before finishing your resolute statement.

"Bieri."

DC 60: Rolled 64 - Don't you know who the fuck I am?

This guy has a look of someone who has seen some shit, like a hardened criminal. These are the kind that don't break easily. Yet you are completely confident in yourself right now, and everybody is going to start calling you by your name. Even if these medieval dickheads think it's the stupidest thing ever. You will shove it down their throats if you have to.

Seeing the wild look in your eye makes him think twice about fucking with you right now.

"All right, All right, I get it. The stories about you are true, I guess."

Stories? looks like your getting popular. You follow the guard as he reluctantly leads you up to the building's main entrance.

After a large flight of steps and a couple of checkpoints, you make it to the main office. It is a very posh room, ornate with all sorts of shit like expensive antiques and hunting trophies of sorts. There is a desk in the back and center of the room, and a large chair behind it. It's currently facing the wall-spanning window that overlooks most of Prontia, you can even see the taller Guild Hall from here.

"He's here, boss."

The man sitting in the big chair stands. It's not Ojisan, rather it is a fair man of noble birth and long blonde hair. He is dressed foppishly, with a really nice looking red jacket. His garb looks expensive and he moves with an aristocratic grace.

"I've been wanting to meet you for some time. Mr. Iwo. We've been anxious to get a chance to thank you for what you've done to the Order of the Silver Crown."

"You're Welcome"

Man, fuck that Blackwell Guy. The sharp dressed man walks over to address you in a more cordial manner, shooing the guard out of the way as he approaches.

"You see the order has constantly been sticking their noses in my families affairs for generations, always causing us much ire. Now that you've caused them to withdraw, the Morrcock family business has been thriving."

Thier business is construction, isn't it? How do the Silver Faggots affect them? The knights are peacekeepers.

"I would like to personally thank you for single-handedly getting them off of our backs. in a way which we have struggled for a long time. In fact, I wanted to extend my hand to you in an agreement of service as well. If you would be so kind, I would like you to work for me."

Charlotte is a little confused at what's going on. you can't tell if she doesn't understand, or if she's considering everything the man said.

The way this guy talks is turning gears in your head as well, It doesn't add up.

This must be the old man's son. He must be in the know.

"How have the Silver Crown been a nuisance to you?"

This is clearly not the greatest subject for him. You see his eyes narrow as the young man gets an angered look upon his face

"Long before the Silver Crown came to Prontia, my family had complete control of this city and our associates protected the common man. Life was of excellent quality. We had control of this city and kept the populous safe from the dangers outside. Even the Brotherhood was under our heel, despite being especially slippery. That was until Prontia was assailed by a terrible dragon. A black dragon. The city was almost destroyed by such a fearsome creature. The town guard, our men, and the adventurers of the guild hall. None were able to quench it's thirst for destruction. According to the legend, it was an ancestor of the House Blackwell that repelled it, but not without the assistance of my family and everyone else's cooperation, of course. So the stories go anyways, it was beyond my time, decades ago."

He regains his composure and speaks in a more controlled way, fixing himself.

"The Silver Crown are nothing but a bunch of self-righteous bigots. The Order has grown and proceeded to take the business of protecting the people from my family away from us, and often meddle in our affairs, after being deputized by the Prontian goverment to police the streets. The way they ran the demi-human population that was staying here underground was despicable, not that I can say I was a huge fan of them. They could be somewhat...unpleasant to see roaming around in the middle of the night. Nonetheless, positively dreadful. The don't deserve such an honor as being the city's protectors. They are bad for business."

Charlotte turns to you hastily, mouth open, as if she wants to say something, but then decides to keep listening. You're more concerned with the task at hand...getting to the bottom of this kidnapping case and bringing that sick freak to justice.

"Actually, nevermind, don't actually care. I just want to find that serial killer that sent some flesh constructs at my friends and your sister last night. Speaking of, she wanted to reward me, do you know where she is...oh, and your father too. I needed to speak to him first."

He has a strange look on his face, like he was upset about being disrespected like that, but catches himself and chooses to ignore it.

My father had left some time ago to have the creature checked out by one of our best associates. The best mortician in Prontia, to be exact."

How cowardly. His father must be disappointed. If you hadn't been late, you probably could have gone with him and most likely the sister too, Fuckin A.

Morrcock Junior takes out a fancy pocketwatch and checks it for the time.

"Mr. Iwo, I'm afraid, I'm running out of time, as I am a busy man. I would like to discuss the nature of the job I wish for you to accept from me, but perhaps at a later time. I simply need your admission first and to give you a little gift for your trouble with the Silver Crown. I heard they had charged you and are having you stand trial. Been there myself and by Prontus is it dreadful."

Should you really help this guy? You don't really like the cut of his gib, but he does seem to know a lot. And money is good for your pocket right now.

"Seeing as you're a painfully unaware foreigner, it would be charitable of me to take another question from you before we continue with discussing the job I have for you a little more. I simply need you to accept this job first"

Huh. It really seems like he liked that question.

"...I was hoping you'd ask that, you see. They are the first order of business. You see, the job concerns them. According to my sources, they have nearly gained control of the west side of town, apparently. There has been quite a bit of fighting between the Prontian Guard and that gang recently. They have been slowly claiming more turf as their own and it is concerning to our fair citizens on the east side of town. And everyone else for that matter. I've heard they have a new leader, who is unpredictably vicious in executing their plans, striking without warning constantly."

You've seen the damage they can do firsthand. You have to agree.

You were going to wait till he finished to bring up the brutal murders and organ harvesting, but then the door behind you opens. It's Ojisan, and Monica, his daughter.

"Father."

"James"

You could feel the tension already.

"If your going to do this foolish investigation, then please do it in your office, father, and not mine."

"I will happily do so, James"

James proceeds to hastily huff his way out, two guards peeling off and following him. Before he leaves he has one more thing to say.

"Mr. Iwo, please come back later. I haven't forgotten to pay you as I said I would. The Morrcock family is well known for paying what is owed. It would be wrong of me to not keep my word."

And with that, he leaves. Lord Morrcock Senior seems to soften up. He begins to start conversation.

"Don't mind him, his work has gotten to him. He's...stressed out and concerned with keeping our business alive."

"Now that's an understatement."

The daughter adds her two cents in before you get to more pressing concerns.

"Now then son. I'm glad you could make it. I was hoping you could see the medical examination of the body. It was...quite interesting. Come to my office so we could discuss it further."

__________________________________

The office you end up in is much smaller than the one you were in upstairs. Charlotte has forced herself and into your lap as you sit across from Lord Morrcock and his daughter, who stands next to him. You can feel her eyes all over you as you listen to Lord Morrcock's news about the dissection.

"The family doctor had just taken a look at the body, or what was left of it anyways. He was as ecstatic as he was frightened about his findings, to be frank. He said that the body was in almost every respect - dead. It had already suffered decapitation. The head was pretty much useless he said. just for show. The body had been essentially torn apart and then put back together again, seamlessly, and with all sorts of, enhancements..."

"What kind?"

You inquire about the monster. What exactly was that thing? I guess the fact that it was "dead" was a good explanation of why it wouldn't fucking die when you killed it.

"He said there was all sorts of things done to the muscles to make them hypertrophy to an extreme level, as well as the rest of the body. The contraption around it's neck apparently was an very complex contraption that held the thing together. The craziest part of what he said was about their age. All signs pointed to the fact that the flesh was of a youth. Absolutely unthinkable. How could such a thing be possible? How could someone get a way with something like that?"

[Clever]
You think about everything he just said. It's not exactly helpful, but the fact that children were used is sickening. The most likely thing that happened makes you feel worse. It was probably orphans. There's no way there would be 3 children missing with out a quest being posted at the Guild Hall by concerned guardians, despite being more mundane. Your gut says that they were orphans. Kimo!

There is definitely something sinister at work here. Whoever did this had some kind of unholy knowledge of the human body and probably strong magic. An evil healer? A necromancer maybe?

Charlotte shivers in your lap at the news, probably because she's at least looks like a young child, and without you, there's nobody to take care of her like those boys if the villain that did this to them actually tried to prey on her.

"I'm not sure what to make of it son. It just makes so little sense. Other than this I have nothing else. It was on the monster that fell apart."

He puts a picture down. It's Henrietta. This one is noticeably less detailed than the others you found on the other children. Whomever did the sketch was pressed for time.

"They couldn't trace the magic that animated the thing?"

Mr. Morrcock shakes his head.

"My doctor said that the appearance of these monsters might as well be an act of god, for there is no mortal he could ever believe would have the knowledge to accomplish such a complex procedure."

Damn it! this is going to be difficult.

I doubt we'd get any more information from a different surgeon, and the other two seem unlikely to be linked to the culprit themselves.

>Is there an orphanage around maybe? maybe a place where street urchins gather?
orphans would probably be the best bet, followed by artists. Maybe even try to track down where the paper and ink/color itself came from. If it's some kind of special parchment or drawing implement or something it could help track them down, information we might get from an artist or shop owner. Maybe even tubby, given her class.

I feel going to an artist might take us straight to the culprit though.

>"Is there some kind of place for artists? The drawings were very well done

"There is a curio in town where artists submit their works for viewing. It's not far from the church of Prontus. I go there from time to time myself. It's a gathering place for the high class."

>"How about an orphanage around maybe? maybe a place where street urchins gather?"

"Oh, there are street urchins all over Prontia, you just need to look around. They usually pool around the center of the city, in the back alleys. As for an orphanage, there is one nearby to where my doctor lives here on the east side."

>Also by looking at the paper and ink can we tell if it's some high quality stuff? Is there someone who can identify it?

Charlotte perks up at the question and speaks before anyone else can get a word in.

"Oo Oo. I can do that!"

She takes the parchment that the sketch is on and stares at it hard every which way. Then she sniffs it a bunch of times. Finally, she tries to smudge it, first with just her finger, then with some saliva. It doesn't run.

"This brand is called "Sarrachel". You can find some in the Parcel store not far from the Guild Hall. It's high quality ink used for writing important documents."

...Not bad. Your chubby little friend might be on to something.

Hmmm....You aren't sure if there is any other relevant information to be had. You feel confident whoever is doing this does so from around the center of town, or around here on the east side.

"You have any ideas son? I hope I was able to give you enough information to work with. The body is still at my doctor's place at the moment if you want to look yourself. He'll probably get rid of it latter today."

It sounds like you have to do some more snooping around. Where should I go first?

Shoving Charlotte's tuckus off of your lap and standing up, you figure out where your going next.

"Ojisan, I'm going to give your doctor a visit. There's more I want to know about the body."

There is a lake on the edge of town on the east side, just keep heading eastward. You'll find it."

You can check to see if the orphanage is there too. You'll have to come back to the downtown Prontia to find some urchins after. Kids can be honest. They might know something.

It's time to move. You say your goodbyes to Lord Morrcock and his daughter.

"I know your busy, but please stop by later if you can. I haven't thanked you properly yet for saving my daughter."

"Me niether! Come back soon Bieri! Maybe we can go out to dinner or something when you come back?."

Fat chance lady. Charlotte seems to pout at the idea of you going on a date. Is she upset because your getting popular?

You and Charlotte head out. Time to get to the bottom of this once and for all. This sicko is going down.

Probability to get two same roll on a d100 for the first 7 rolls ?

If first I want to calculate the probability for every roll to be different, that would be

1*99/100*98/100*...*93/100=0.75

Then the probability for making at least two roll with the same result in the first seven rolls should be

1-0.75=0.25

A quick simulation on openoffice gave me 0.32, I know this software pseudo random sequence is shit, but it doesn't look that out of this world. I guess we can reasonably assume that getting more than two rolls with the same results is not that rare if you consider the 7 first rolls.
>>
>>1921452
1*99/100*98/100*...*94/100 = 0.8 approx
So 20% chance to have at least two times the same roll
>>
>>1921505

>>
>>1921558

Heading out with a purpose gives you the motivation to walk the very long stretch to the east-most boundary of Prontia. After much walking, you are able to find a very large body of water as the city grid begins to break. There is a building off to the south, just before the lake in the distance. It is plain and white.

Charlotte stays close to you, being a little worried they killer is still out there. She holds your hand as you walk the city streets. It gets you some funny stares from concerned citizens since you can't even pass for siblings with how different you look. Goddamn. Stop that touchy shit!

As you pass the overpopulated neighborhood blocks full of houses, there is a large, disheveled, brown building. Children in ratty, ill-fitting clothes currently play outside in the courtyard.

The white building in the distance is probably the doctor's office. You wonder if this little place filled with children could be the orphanage Lord Morrcock spoke of.

Where to first?

You make your way towards the white house by the lake. You need to get more information about the body and the guy that looked at it.

DC 60: Rolled 96 - Super Sneaky!!!

The house is big, and I'm not, so I have to run really fast and quiet. Making my way to the back of the house, I'm able to find an open door. Before I get to run back to tell Boss Bato what I found, there's a splash. Someone is here!

I lost control of myself and jumped into the heath nearby. I'm not sure why, but I had the strangest feeling. It was like my butt was in danger!

"Did you hear something?"

There are two men out by the lake on the dock. They just moored they're boat and are walking out, back to this house. They look around cautiously before resuming walking. One of them has that gray armor, and the other one wears a bloody apron and glasses. His hair is red and curly.

"Not at all, must be the lakeside breeze. Don't get us all nervous like that. Morrcock will think us cowards if we get all jumpy. I want to stay on his good side. I'm just trying to keep in line so he doesn't try to throw me off the boat."

Oh my gosh! This could be big! I think...

"KOKO NI KITEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I cover my ears on the top of my head. The boss sure can be loud when he want to! not that I understand what he's saying half the time.

The two men who were approaching are distracted. The apron-man almost fell into the lake and the guard caught him! now's my chance!

I run as fast as my legs can take me back to the front of the house while those two are distracted. I'm going to tell him what I saw!

The sound of your voice bounces off of the lake, having shouted pretty loud. Whomever is here needs to open up for god sakes. You're burning precious daylight out here.

You see Charlotte leg it in her awkward running gait to you. You had just sent her to see if there was another way in. Apparently it was successful? Your chunky little potato sucks in air like it was cake before telling you some stuff while breathing hard after stopping. Gotta make sure she doesn't miss a workout-session with you in the days to come. You crouch to hear her out.

"What's the matter Lottie? Did someone fall down a well or something? Spit it out."

"...Two men...Boat...Glasses...Apron...Guard...Red Hair..*Huff*..."

It takes a while to understand what the FUCK she's saying after a while, but you think you have an idea of what is going on. Boy this place sure is interesting.

Before you get a chance to do anything. You see two guys approach from the back of the house. One of them is a familiar looking Morrcock family guard. The other is a pasty looking ginger kid with nerdy-ass glasses, probably somewhere around your age. The ginger kid is the first to talk. His adrenaline is slightly up, though he is trying to be courteous and polite.

"Are you the guy who was shouting? Can I help you sir? Perhaps you need medical attention?"

Wierdo. At least now you can check out the body.

_____________________________________

Yup everything is till there. Now it's definately dead.

Scanning over the twice deceased body, it has been somewhat cleaned up, having been preserved for a detailed medical examination. There is threadwork all over it to keep it in place. It's more noticible than the stitching you saw when this thing started falling apart.

"Whoever did the original stitching on the kid's body did the most precise job I've ever seen. You can't even see the seams, well until the body starts to fall apart. I spent a good part of the day just tying this badboy up so it doesn't just simply collapse."

This young, bespectacled man introduced himself as Robert. He is the Morrcock family doctor, but putting 2 and 2 together has made the entire families shtick very obvious, after deciphering what Charlotte told you. With all of the events being put together with whatever your little helper saw, you are able to confirm your suspicion. The Morrcock family is a crime family, and going by the quests, they are the Magnum Aes. The "Big Brass" mobsters. This guy must be their cleaner, all things considered. Charlotte is on a roll today. Maybe she just needed some motivation? There is a strange tingle in your left hand.

He is definitely a little more than suspicious. He reminds you of that guy you saw in the bar when you extricated Henrietta an Shara and brought them to Lord Morrcock's manor.

Threated by another mobster? Maybe some kind of hired merc in which the guy sells his creations as hired goons. I can easily see mobster hirring these things.

Maybe one of the other gangs hired someone to kill his daugther and the others were just searching for more...raw material?

The brotherhood started to make more bold moves and using scare tactics. They also just started to get bigger here in the west. And it was orphans who were used to build this things. The orphanet is at this side too so...
>>
>>1922331
>scare tactics that just got one level higher
Okay, that could make sense, but with the drawings the kidnapping were incredibly specific for just some random attacks (if we assume the same monsters were used before). Could make sense if the brotherhood put their prizes (beautiful women) to use after kidnapping.
>>
>>1922366
My guess is this guy is a indepedent contract. If you think carefully the girls had a very significant feauture between then. Henrietta was the clerk in the Guild hall. Shara was a popular dancer in the bar and Monica is the daugther of a mobster. If you want to spread despair and scare people, or make then loose confidence on the police. Killing popular and liked people would be a good way to do it.

Would fit into the brotherhood terror tactis.

>I want that thingamajig. I want my friend to check it out

"I want that thingamajig"

You point to the massive collar on the beast. Having Charlotte check it out might help the investigation.

"I'm going to have to take the one lodge in the chest out. The body will have less of a chance falling apart than if I take the one off it's neck."

He gets to work. It takes a surprisingly long time to remove, being stuck in there good. After he gets it out, you have to help him carry it, seeing as it's pretty damn heavy. Turning to Charlotte, you ask her to appraise it to see if she could give you more clues. She takes a small little lens thing from her bag and examines the hunk of metal.

"It's some kind of alloy...Mosty just regular iron, but there's a small trace of orichalcum...Here that's usually used for some kinds of magical construct. I can't see much of the inside, but judging by the center where the neck and metal connect, there's a whole mechanism in here.,,"

"...And?"

This magic stuff makes your head hurt.

"Whomever made this has an advanced understanding of machines as well as surgery. Right?"

Robert finishes the little girl's thoughts. The more you study these creature, the more the guy who made them is praised. Apparently the monster you killed was the equivalent of a fleshy wind-up toy. What the fuck?! Robert continues.

"Wow, having looked at this, I don't know who could of pieced something together like quite like it. They had to be an amazing apothecary and engineer AND alchemist to accomplish this. Heads and shoulders above my level. I can't think of anyone who has skill like this in Prontia. And they consider me one of the best in the city. Hah!"

It makes you suspect him less, seeing the way he struggled to keep the body together and the way he operates compared to the creator being described.

"There is one thing. Boss. Somebody left a watermark on it!"

She points out what looks like a stylized cog-like thing on the collar. It is very tiny and out of the way, but it's there.

This device just raises more questions. The only thing you learned is that the culprit is an outsider and can use magic.

>Ask something else?

You have some questions for Robert after learning a bunch of things that make no sense.

>"Do you know about this watermark?"

"...I've honestly never seen it before. Not around Prontia, at least.

>If i wanted to hire some help that didn't involved the guild were would i find it?

It's either the Morrcocks or nothing. Unless you want to go ask the Unbreakable Brotherhood. You might have to pay and arm or a leg for them to do anything for you...literally."

"What about the about enchatment?. What kind? What level? Can you tell me which kind of skill would be needed to cast such enchatments? "

"Well, I'm no mage, but from what I could tell, this is a level of skill I've never seen before, physically and magically. Whomever did this is so high up on the chain of talent and understanding, we can't see them. If you know what I mean. I have no idea how it all works."

>"You said you are one of the best. Who are the others? Also i doubt this kind of skill would be something a doctor would have. The way the body was worked it could be a taxidermist or a mortician. Both of those require to keep a body presentable after ones death."

"I am, but this guy made me seem like a quack by comparison. There aren't many doctors like me anymore, everyone relies mostly on healing magic. Those kinds of skills are hard to come by, to be honest. It's kind of a shame really. Healing magic alone can't cover that stuff. You need real understanding of the human form, not to just beseech Prontus to give you a cure-all."

>"Is there any place that sells orichalcum in the quantities to make these collars, in relation to the start of the murders? "

Charlotte answers this one.

"There were only trace amounts of orichalcum in the alloy. You can't find it around here that easily. It's a very precious metal used for crafting stuff for adventurers. This guy had a fistful, I think.

That doesn't add up. While you've seen some freaky shit so far, it's been mild. For there to be someone who goes over everyone's head like this and nobody talks about the? Not likely.

Thanking Robert for his time. You head out of his place of work and head to the Orphanage to gather more information.

____________________________________

Entering the orphanage ends up having all the children outside follow you in. You think that they might be hoping you'll adopt one of them. You feel bad, but taking care of Charlotte is already hard enough due to her lack of maturity.

You meet with a woman that seems to run the place not long after entering.

"How can I help you sir? Are you looking to adopt?"

You consider those that might have been involved with the case.

"I'm running an investigation on missing people for the guild, can you tell me...

She looks down, it seems to be a hard thing to admit.

"We...don't get alot of business really. Times are hard."

Ouch. Well there are other things you could probably learn.

>How about a list of people who adopted recently?

You get a list of people from the last month, right on target. There are only 4 people on the list:

>Reina Dilganzis
>John Kerrigan
>Iohan Rembrandt
>Michael Malifisi

Interesting. This might help out quite a bit. Now you just have to match up a name to a person. You thank the daycare lady and get moving. Time is wasting.

On your way out, you ask the caretaker if you can talk to the children in case they might know something. The children don't give you any really great evidence, but one thing stands out.

"Across the street, just standing there. There was this guy. He wore a hood and had really scary eyes, kinda like you Mister...but not really like you. He was like a boogeyman. Oooooooo!"

The kid breaks off to go chase around the other children. There apparently was some weirdo hanging around the orphanage, but he didn't adopt anyone, or even do anything supposedly. You didn't like being compared to this gross pervert, though.

You head out with Charlotte to go back to the center of town. Time to find some street urchins.

You ask Charlotte about the meat from that bear you killed and if it's any good.

"Of course! I didn't eat it yet. I was waiting for you feed i- I mean share it with me. I made sure to preserve it for at least a week. I didn't want you to get mad at me for eating your bear. I still have the pelt if you want that too."

That was a stupid question. Of course a complete glutton like her would season it enough to prevent it from going bad. Time to ask another stupid question.

"Can you cook it? Right here?"

___________________________________

Your plan succeeds easily as the slightly dry bear is cooked. Charlotte is doing that thing with her mouth where she smacks her lips and drools as the delicious scent fills the air. Thankfully, she has a small portable stove like contraption as part of her survival gear to cook it.

It's not long before you feel the eyes of deprived children upon you. Making your presence known, you shout to them your terms of agreement.

"IF YOU LITTLE SHITS TELL ME ABOUT ANY OF YOU THAT WENT MISSING, I SHARE MY BEAR MEAT."

No response. Charlotte does not exactly seem on board with potentially losing her meal. She has a frowny face on as you attempt to barter the yummy meat away.

"GOING ONCE!!!!"

"ALRIGHT. ALRIGHT"

Good, now there are a bunch of homeless kids circling around you.

"What the hell do you want, Mister?"

Cracking your neck, you stand up to tower over them to let them know you're not fucking around.

"I want you to tell me if any of your boys are missing"

You talk to the one who looks like the leader. He has the snappiest clothes and has the hardest look to him. An older boy.

"I don't know nothin' about nothin', now lets eat"

He's trying to be tough. Time to apply your vast experience. You walk over quickly and grab him by the collar, picking him up off the ground as his lackeys back away. They can tell your not having any of it from them.

"Let me try again. Buddy. How about this: Did you see any strange men recently? I'm hearing about all sorts today."

"Alright, Alright. Jus' lemme go. Okay? I'll talk."

___________________________________

The group of boys share the bear meat to you. They notice Charlotte is choking back tears as she eats very slowly, for her anyways. They probably wouldn't if they knew the actual reason why she was sad.

"It was a few weeks ago, see. Me and my boys were minding our own business and playing with a ball we just found between the Curio and the Butcher's shop down the block. We accidentally threw it too far and almost lost it. Some guy, he looked like a noble or something, picks up our ball, and says he'll trade it back to us if two of us come with him. Some kind of real sicko. He wore glasses and had some straight black hair."

Sounds about right so far. The leader bites into his portion of the bear and continues after swallowing.

"So I was all like: Hell no! You creep! And then there were to other guys that appeared. It was the biggest guy I ever saw mister. He had a big metal thing on his neck and wore a potato sack for a head. He came from behind us and grabbed two of my boys. The rest of us we...we ran. I didn't want to lose anyone else...The big man was really terrifying."

Damn, what an awful twist.

"Oh, before I forget, there was one more guy. He was about as tall as you, and he had a big blue hood on. He just...stood there. The guy with the glasses kept looking at him like he was waiting for him to do something. But he was just...there . He didn't do anything. That's all I got Mister."

Someone mentioned that creepy stalker again. now that's interesting. Your going to have to look into this other guy. He seems to be related to the main guy your looking for. You ask him about the kidnappings.

"We've see the bodies of them, sometimes. They look like they've been cut open. It's gross. They always take out the heart, we thinks."

To think! your best source has been from a bunch of homeless children. Shit

"Follow me, boss."

She sounds a little sad and disappointed as she rubs her belly. She only got to have two pieces of meat this time. Cheer up fatty. As you walk through Prontia, you notice that it's starting to get late. It will be evening soon.

DC 60: Rolled 99 - Damn You Scary

Who does this punk think he is? You are so sick and fucking tired of running around on this wild goose chase so you could end getting lip service from some asshole guarding a fucking art gallery of all places. That is it!

"Certain standard of dress?"

"Now sir, if you could please calm down..."

"Certain standard of dress! NANI SORE!!!?!!?!"

You are sick and tired of these fucking guards telling you what the fuck to do! You proceed to grab the man by the throat, lift him off of his feet and slam him into a nearby wall of the Curio. He is winded by the impact.

"ARE YOU TELLING ME I'M NOT WELL DRESSED?! ARE YOU CALLING ME A FUCKING SLOB?!

"N-n-no s-"

"SPEAK UP, I CAN'T HEAR YOU! ASSHOLE! ARE YOU TRYING TO FUCKING LOOKING DOWN ON ME!!?!?!!"

"P-PLeaSe, DOn't HuRT mE"

Oh look, the little bitch is crying now. You think Charlotte might be pulling on your leg, also probably crying, but you're to angry for it to even register. You are gonna kill that motherfucker when you find him, and that means your going in. After hashing the guard with harsh words, you smell a somewhat familiar smell. The guard just soiled himself. Your not about to ruin your ACCEPTABLE clothes right now.

You drop his sorry ass and let him crawl away, pissing and shitting and crying to himself in the miserable heap that he is. Good fucking riddance.

"SATTENDO KORE!!!!"

After getting the last word in, you try to recollect yourself. Calming down a little and fixing your PERFECTLY TO STANDARD uniform by pulling on the jacket as if you just took out a physical pile of trash, and not a figurative one, you exhale deeply. Then you get ready to walk inside.

Right before you open the door, it swings open by itself. There is a man with a cloak with a nice outfit beneath it, currently looking at his pocket watch as he leaves. He holds the door open for you so you could walk inside. Your eyes meet as you acknowledge each other, his eyes are blue, like yours. How courteous.

When you walk inside, you notice several people inside.

There is a group nearest to you on the left, surrounding a man in a three piece suit. Maybe he's the curator.
Next there are a few gentlemen and ladies behind the first group, they seem to be having a jovial chat and yucking it up and drinking alcohol.
Oh look it's Virgin-kun. Somehow he's managed to come out with a lady friend.
Finally there's a woman with dark skin in a slinky red dress...Wait that's-

You move from the entrance of the curio into the main viewing floor. There are plenty of interesting pieces on the walls, from boats on the water and animals to scenes that seem to come from an adventurer's epic quest. As you continue, you check out the pretty brown lady in the dress to confirm it is indeed Shara. She is currently looking at a fairly abstract piece. She looks into it deeply as if she's contemplating something. She doesn't seem to notice as you slip by. You really need to focus on the task at hand.

You want to find a nice spot where you can eavesdrop on the two large groups of gentlemen and ladies. Unfortunately you don't see any black haired, bespectacled individuals yet. You and Charlotte end up plopping yourselves down on a conveniently placed, fancy looking bench in front of a very large scale painting.

The piece is a painting. Now that you look at it, it's a knight fighting a huge dragon. It kinda pisses you off to admit it, but the rendition of the House Blackwell dragon-fighting legacy is exquisite. Even in comparison to other pieces.

Roll to appreciate the painting.

>When appreciating art and compositions, you may use Clever points to try to understand the 1000+ words it tries to tell you. Doing so can help you understand the mysteries of this world through it's art and educate your ignorant ass.

At first, it is hard to look at the painting, it doesn't interest you to see the glorification of the clan of the guy you currently wish you could hate to death. You try to make small talk with Charlotte to pass the time, but she's already dozed off. You won't even try to wake her up.

With no other choice but to listen to the other people around, you set your sights on this epic piece. Against all odds, you come to appreciate this piece. The piece is somewhat monochromatic, focusing mostly on the silvers of the knights and the blacks of the dragon's scales. The way the subjects are painted show the Ordo-Knight heroes as larger than the others in the painting, such as the forces of the Morrcocks. The main figures of course are emphasized. With the huge black dragon attacking the House Blackwell's heroic ancestor. You notice that the hero of the painting doesn't have her helm on. She is very pretty, with dark features on pale skin. Her lustrous black hair cascades out to compliment the dragon's colori-Wait.

What is this?

You can't control you body as you get close to the wall painting, close enough that if you get closer the curators might ask you to step the fuck back.

No way. the hero in the painting, it's...Kurosaki Akane!?!

Your eyes don't lie to you. You recognize that face anywhere after seeing it once in the discipline committee. What the fuck? It can;t be true! That is her exact spitting image! "..!?.."

The quiet contemplation of the incredible revelation you just had is interrupted by the sugary sweet voice of Shara. She must have sat down while you were...appreciating the painting. She tries to tease and joke around with you a little, as per usual.

So tell me, Mr. Man? what brings you to an Art Gallery of all places? It doesn't seem like your style, being so manly and all."

You explain the situation to her, still being on the hunt for the elusive kidnapper. You explain the big guys were not the masterminds, or so you believe. You ask her why SHE's here in reciprocation, considering her more fun-loving nature not really fitting in a stuffy setting like this.

"I do whatever I feel like I want to do. Today I wanted to meet with an acquaintance of mine. Now fate allowed me to bump into you again as well. It's a funny thing, isn't it, this chaos that we live in?"

She emphasizes that by scooching closer to you, bumping your leg with her supple hips.

"How much do you know about the painting?"

You humor her with what you were told by Morrcock Junior earlier today.

She looks at the painting herself and begins extrapolating.

This was almost exactly 100 years ago, the first time the Demon Lord attacked Prontia. He sent one of his most powerful servants to destroy this city single-handedly, the Dragon known as the Midnight Sage. About 1/3rd of the city was utterly annihilated! The carnage was awesome and beyond brutal! Midnight Sage's rampage was only stopped when that mighty paladin challenged him in 1 on 1 combat. Neither of them were able to defeat each other, being perfectly even in strength. The dragon left, frustrated in being unable to defeat Carnell Blackwell. After that, the Order of the Silver Knights were made the protectors of Prontia."

That certainly clears up a good little bit of the story even more, seeing as it's from a less biased point of view.

"Times sure have changed huh?"

That's for sure. Before you can say anything, Shara sidles up to you, once again in biting range of your ear, grossly violating your personal space. She whispers into your ear, striking it with hot breath.

"If you're ever looking for little old me, I live on the west side of town, that is if I'm not partying at the Broken Axle. Catch you later, darling."

She's already sashaying out the door, flaunting her athletic, hippy figure. That girl is dangerously promiscuous. You really need to be careful around her!

Shit! you realized your talk has caused you to not eavesdrop. Fuck! You hope you didn't miss anything important.

Bummed out, you sit back down, trying to digest everything you learned. Demon Lord, Carnell Blackwell, Midnight Sage, Kurosaki Akane-san. This is quite the series of revelations.

You stare into the painting again. Lost in thought

Before you can attempt to wake Charlotte, a hand touches your shoulder and you are surrounded by wealthy people.

A handsome, well dressed man with dark hair pulled straight back has stilled you with one of his hands, drink in another. You are now surrounded by his ilk, aristocratic people of all shapes and sizes and various expensive dress.

"I see you are a connoisseur of fine arts, my friend. Tell us, what is your opinion on this piece?"

You take your time to do the best you can in describing the way the knights are emphasized in the painting and everyone else who helped is getting shitted on by the artist. It's like a kind slap in the face to the Adventurers and The Morrcocks.

Your underlings at school would have laughed at you for trying to be so cultured, but these guys just eat it up. By the end of the encounter, you are on somewhat amicable terms with these wealthy folk. Not bad.

You end up exchanging pleasantries with them, including your name.

"And here I thought "The Batterer" was as uncouth as the rumors suggested. Can you believe they've been calling you names like "The Ogre"? The commoners are so easily frightened."

They laugh it up, and so do you, to not seem like the guy with autism or something. The man who first talked to you goes to shake your hand. He introduces himself to you.

"It's a pleasure to meet with you, Mr. Bieri. You can call me Rembrandt, Iohanes Rembrandt."

Aww shit!

Rembrandt?

The voice in your head repeats what Iohanes has just said to you. It takes all your willpower, despite not having pieced together completely every shred of evidence just yet, to try squeezes his hand until this guy buckles to his knees from the pain.

Shaking his right hand, you feel a sense of unease, also noticing he were's a pair of fancy white gloves to go with his fancy suit. It's strange. This guy's hair is black, but pulled back and he doesn't wear glasses. This is your man, isn't it? Perhaps following him would be a good idea to trail him after this is all said and done.

You put on a false smile as you interact with the noblemen. It's time to figure out what your next play is. Charlotte is still fast asleep. Damn that little girl.

There's a few things off about this guy. The name on the list is slightly different, and he does not wear glasses. You're unsure what to make of it right now. Has he been...trying to cover up or something? The questioning of culpability makes you want to stay your hand. Time to put your cleverness to work.

"Are you an artists yourself ?

"I'd like to believe I am my firend. I made some of the works in this Curio."

Interesting. Reaching into your pocket, you fish the little sketch of Henrietta to make sure it's there. You'll have to check it to compare.

"See, there's some famous dude named Rembrandt from where I come. Maybe I could see your work and compare it to him?"

"Certainly."

The flattery does not go unnoticed

It wasn't until you got past the sculptures and abstract pieces that your able to confirm in your guts this guy is related. Many of his portraits are of beautiful women, and although a different medium is used, the technique is consistent. This has to be your guy.

"It was a pleasure to meet you, Bieri. I must take my leave. There are a few personal arrangements I have to make."

You know this guy is involved, this has to be the guy you're looking for, inconsistencies be damned. You don't know what he might have at his house to further incriminate him. On the other hand, you have him where you want him.

Now what will you do?

It would be best if you could get more incriminating evidence on this guy. You remember from the report that there are still women missing who have not been confirmed dead. Perhaps you can find that out too if you follow this guy? It's about time to blow this case wide open. First thing is first, you need to wake up your marshmallow-y sidekick first. It might be best if she can grab the authorities so you cover all the bases in screwing this guy's plans up. You excuse yourself to go grab your little friend. It takes some time, but you manage to wake Charlotte.

As waking her up, you notice Rembrandt also making his way out, slipping out quietly. Shit, waking up this little brat took way too long. You have to follow this guy now!

You manage to stalk Rembrandt, well enough. He doesn't seem to be aware you've been following him as you make you way far to the south-east of Prontia. Charlotte is pretty good at this, her small size helps her to lay low. You end up getting just outside the city boundaries, beyond the outer walls. You glance up at the sky, noting how dark it's gotten, the faster you work, the better. There is a small bunker sticking out of the surrounding grass. Rembrandt closes the large, heavy metal door behind him as you complete your stalking successfully. This must be his women-slaying dungeon.

"How awful. This really is the guy, huh Boss?"

The little girl is concerned by the ominous gate to the machinations of a madman. It's clear she doesn't like the way he prey on girls. You give her specific instructions.

"I need you to go get the Prontian Guard, or whoever can come to take this guy away after I bust him. Got it?"

"Yes, Boss! Let's celebrate after!...I'm hungryyy. Give him a good bonking for me!"

Fucking typical.

You smack her butt to help her get over her hunger, annoyed by her one-track mind. She runs much faster than her wide hips and awkward gait normally allow her to go. She's holding her bottom in pain, still sore from before.

This door is quite an obstacle, but it will be no match for your manly resolve. After all, there is only one way in now! You grip Shinbatsu tightly in your left hand.

Roll to break down the door.

Letting out a grunt underneath your breath, you heft up New York no Shinbatsu and proceed to slam the shit out of the door. With a thunderous iron thud resounding through the air, you realize this door isn't going to go down unless you put some elbow grease into this one. Spitting into your hands and rubbing them together, you get prepare yourself to let loose on this stupid fucking door. You are unusually focused, and don't utter a word as you pound the thing into uselessness.

It doesn't take too long, only about 20 minutes before the big door is a bunch of scrap metal. You honestly thought it would be far worse. You made good time, for what it was worth. You go down feeling refreshed, having warmed up. You wonder when the cavalry is going to show up exactly. Whatever the case, this guy can't leave his bunker without someone here to drag him to the authorities. You are going to be that someone.

There is a loud clicking as the locking mechanism fails, and your able to move the door out of the way. Maybe I should move it back in front of the pathway?

You don't expect to let this sicko get away, but some extra insurance seems like a good idea. Or you can let Charlotte and company have an easy way in...

You dust your hands off, time to get grab the villain.

Making your way downstairs to the vault-like safe-house, there is a long hallway. There is a door further in front of you, a door to your left, and a door to your right. The place stinks of blood. A easy way would be to go to a pleace were the smell of blood isn't thay strong. The guy didn't had anysmell on him so he's either aware of it or he despises to stink with blood.

The problem I have is that is seems this guy is smart. Poly-math, goes out of his way to not do things himself, ect. And suddenly we find him and follow him to his hideout, just like that? It's either a red herring or a trap, in my opinion.

>check the floor for boot prints, and see if there's any wind in these tunnels, if there's a draft there might be a connection to outside through one of these tunnels.

You check the floor for any signs of an escape route. This guy let you in so easily! There has to be a reason for why everything turned out the way it did. It was so...deliberate. You look around the floor for any signs of movement, and there are a few bootprints that go into the left and the right rooms. Looking into the left room, it is fairly empty, save for the altar-like operating table in the center, and the desk towards the back of the room. The operating table is only a little bloody, but otherwise everything is neatly put away. There are all forms of art stuff in the back, and surgical tools everywhere else. This place is creepy enough, you didn't need to see this.

You take a look into the other room, it is also fairly empty, save for the assortment of sketches hanging up over the wall, over a map of the city. If you listen closely, there is a pathetic mewling that can be heard from behind a large iron door in the back of the room. Is that...?

You weren't able to identify any escape routes, this prison cell certainly isn't one. What should I do?

Rolled 87: IKU ZE!!!!!

You shout as you tear through this wall. Despit clearly made of tough shit, you cave it in like it was nothing. You pound your way through the wall and through a lighter within. The akwardness of smashing through like this makes going straight through difficult, causing you to make a bit of a detour as you clobber your way through.

Finally, you smash through the wall into the next room. Sending chunks of metal flying as you bowl a whole bunch of shit over. What a fucking dynamic entrance.

ORRRRYYYAAAAAH!!!!!!!

You survey the damage you just did to, well everything. There is a person on the ground to your left now. It's Rembrandt. If there was a doubt you had about any of the inconsistencies you might have had, they are gone. You see him wearing his hair down, glasses and apron on to affirm on this. This is definitely who your looking for.

"OH N -"

"OOOH YEEAH!!!"

You cut him off as you do your best impression of an old mascot loved by children everywhere. He is prone, right where you want him. Time to follow up the surprise with

"Rembrandt. You scummy piece of shit. I have all the evidence I need now to lock you up for a long time. But before that, I hope your anus is ready, I'm going to shove my bat up your ass and carry you to the authorities like a fucking arts and crafts Popsicle-puppet!!

Rembrandt puts his right arm up, has the sleeve rolled up exposing his arm. It is a brass colored mess of cogs and piston-like protrusions, all put together with great detail. What the fuck?! Is that some kind of old-timey prosthetic?

"Th-this is impossible, I followed his instruction to the letter. I was promised to meet my destiny. I will surmount this! You will not deter me from my future, especially not when I still have this!

He scrabbles up to his feet as you approach, Shinbatsu at the ready. He punches something on the wall and the lights in the room go red. It is then you notice a large chamber in the back of the room. Steam fills the large room as a hulking silhouette enters the room. Is that a 12-foot tall iron robot? It is making it's way towards you as you stare it down.

Rembrandt backs himself into the corner, wanting nothing to do with you. You take a quick second to look around the room to scope it out before you size this big thing up. The only way out of here aside from the how you may is up a flight of stairs and across an alcove of rafters. You look at Rembrandt, realizing you might have fucked up, giving him another escape route. Whatever, this machine and him are going to get knocked the fuck out before they can go anywhere.

Time to fight the Iron Golem! What's my first move?

This thing was clearly meant to protect Rembrandt from you, right? Let's see what it does when you attack it's master.

You kick up a chunk of the debris with your foot, and then proceed to bat it at the cornered artist. It impacts him in the side as he tries to cover himself up. This guy looks pathetic! Like some kind of wuss you would beat up for a free lunch. You question whether there is more to this whole situation than is currently presented to you.

The Golem breaks into a run at you. It is surprisingly sophisticated from what you'd expect from a fantasy world, you don't think the engineers at home would be able to construct something like this with the level of function it has. To be fair, they don't have magic. There was a lot of detail put into making sure it was as close to the human proportions as possible.

Oh shit, it's in reach now. It winds back it's fist as you try to react to it's direct attack.

I would say try and redirect him toward his creator, but if it's as sophisticated as it looks, probably won't work. And if it does, might just kill him.

Dodge and strike off it's arm, then.

Also, is that a one and done button, or would hitting it again shut it Off?

You almost feel bad you're about to smash such an articulate piece of work, especially after learning to appreciate quality art not long ago.

You lunge at the machine as it throws it's knuckles towards your face. You shoot low in an attempt to kneecap it, just like it's fleshy friend the other night.

DC 60: Rolled 84 - A well aimed shot.

You cap the robot in the knee as it charges into you, avoiding the recklessly thrown straight punch. Shinbatsu smack hit hard right on the kneecap with an adequate blow, causing the automaton to stumble slightly before it punches a gaping hole into the wall above your tunnel. It ends up knocking some of the wall down to block the entrance to the room you made. You square up to the robot again as it pulls it's hand out of the wall to face you again. You are now facing where you dug through to get to this room.

It's time for you to take the initiative.

>DC 60: Rolled 100 - GET OVER HERE!!!!

You still don't really understand how you got to this point after dropping into this fantasy world, ending up investigating this serial murdering kidnapper and fighting a three and a half meter robot, but it's alright. Now you get to satisfy your own disgruntled blood-lust by smashing this huge fucking bastard to death and taking this sick bastard prisoner to be judged by the people. Some people think that they can get away from Billy the Bat when he's pissed off and ready to throw down. Time to show those fuckheads they are wrong.

"GET OVER HERE!!!!!"

"AARRGH!!!"

You shout to give yourself power as you pull the murderer towards you. Just as this was happening, the robot started charging towards you, about to intersect the chain line between you and Rembrandt. As Rembrandt lets out a holler from being yanked through the air like that, he is immediately silenced as he crosses the automaton's warpath path. Batting the artist out of the way like a fly, Rembrandt is sent careening in a spiral as he slams into the wall behind you with a loud thump. The chain was unhooked from Rembrandt leg as a result of his body spinning out savagely. You can tell he's going to be down for the rest of the fight. The iron giant tries to sweep at you with it's long arm as it runs towards you, moving with too much momentum to slow down. His arm swings through the air again only to miss as you duck and hits nothing as it continues to lunge forward. It's time to put the big action-figure down. You see your chance.

Spinning the chain over your head only once in the blink of an eye, you manage to lasso the massive golem around the torso like a bull at a rodeo.

"COME HERE!!!!"

You stomp your foot into the ground, shaking the whole room as you anchor yourself to the ground to put your back into the next bold maneuver. You aren't sure how much this fucker weighs, but at the time it felt like it was but a child. It sails through the air as you pull the chain over your shoulder and then your head as if it were a sledgehammer, taking the machine with your swing. With a terrible, rumbling crash. The golem is slammed into the ground so hard that the thing bounces from the impact as everything tremors around you. This is what happens to fuckers who try to run away!

You have this thing on the ground now, Shinbatsu in hand.

DC 70: Rolled 83 - I smashed it good

"DORARARARA!!!!!!"

You positively wail on this guys leg. You specifically target the kneecap on it. You know what they say, If it ain't broke don't fix it! You lose yourself in a violent frenzy as you slam over and over again, chunks of metal anf the binds that held them together go flying as it is destroyed by Shinbatsu's mighty blows. There is a strange arterial spray of ichor and...blood? The gushing liquids hit you in the face before you are able to completely remove it from it's body. You are immediately beset by the air moving as something moves towards you at high speed. You are smacked away and off the creature, but not before totally mitigating the attack. The two of you recover from your minor states of being unable to fight. You are fine, the other guy is wobbling on one foot, limping towards you as it bleeds. You must be trashing the tin man pretty good for it to bleed human blood.

You've hurt it pretty badly, maybe another few hits can fully turn the tide of this battle into your favor. You feel pretty good, having not taken any real damage whatsoever.

DC 60: Rolled 83 - The bigger they are...

KURAE!!!!!

Leaping to strike your wobbly opponent, you take an almost even level swing from a standing position to perform a drive by kneecapping. The sound of the pinging your bat makes into the machine man's knee bounces off the walls as your follow through knocks the huge bastard off balance. You manage to stop you momentum as you here another rumbling thud from behind you as the huge thing falls right on it's face. Upon impact there is an unmistakable breaking and deforming of metal. The giant doesn't even try to get back up on it's feet. Instead it turns it's body to face you. The chest plate has been severely damaged, exposing the inner working of it's chest. There are human hearts pumping in all different locations as gears and cogs turn along side them. It is absolutely grotesque, a parody of the inner workings of a man. Large arteries continue to expand and contract as they feed this things body with life-giving fluids. From the large chunk of it's breastplate gone, there are 4 hearts exposed. You try to not look at it's disturbing body as it shuffles towards you, supported by it's arms.

The malformed beast wastes no time in trying to grab you, putting you off guard with it's disgusting, pulsating innards.

Damn, You got careless again. You are to slow to react as the massive automaton scoops you up in one hand, crushing your insides with it's iron grip. It slams you down hard onto the ground, and you feel the last bit of air squeezed out from your lungs. As you desperately gasp to find your breath, you are scooped up again. The monster quickly tears off it's face plate with the other hand. There is no face underneath, only a large set of grinding gears and all kinds of shit found in heavy duty machinery, the kind they have the yellow and black warning labels with the hand getting crushed in it. There are what seems to be sinewy muscles attached to some of the contraption, assisting the pull and flow of the dive inside. The muscles loosen and even more dangerous looking bits are revealed as you are dragged closer to them. You are going to be ground to paste by that "jaw" if you don't do anything about it. FUCK.

DC 60: Rolled 99 - KURAE!!!!!

Shinbatsu has grown heavy in your hand as you are restrained by this monsters grip strength. You can feel your life flashing before you as the horrible engine that is this things mouth draws you in to crush your bones into a powder, your not about to let that happen!

"You wanna take a bite outta me, huh asshole?"

The golem doesn't respond, having no sense of reason other than whatever is driving it to shove you into the equivalent of a garbage disposal unit.

You think about your little brother. You wonder if he's getting bullied now that his terrifying older brother is nowhere to be found. What if he still needs you?

Remebering the reason that gives you the strength to keep on living, you slowly but surely manage to push against the huge hand squeezing the life out of you as it drags you to your doom. You are able to adjust your position to get Shinbatsu out. It's not spikey quite like it was before, but this will be more than enough. It's time to put this thing out of it's miserable existence!

KURAE!!!!!!!!

You tell the algamation of flesh and metal to eat your bat as you swing towards it, not hitting much due to the reach of your weapon. You end up able to slow your descent into clockwork hell as you place your foot against one of the only flat parts of it's face. You swing wildly to harm the thing, smacking away some cogs and shit as you batter the mechanical monster. It tries to use both hands to push you in as you struggle to defeat it's deathly maw. In a desperate and viscous act, New York no Shinbatsu is shoved into it's rotating mouth parts, causing them to catch. It flinches in a stoccato manner as the gears are grinding to a halt, it's hearts pumping hard to keep it alive as whirring gears and springs are loosed from their place. The weapon shoved down it's throat destroys everything that moves against it. Your bat has become a proverbial wrench in the monster's plans as it's head begins to fall apart. While it is paralyzed by the stoppage, you quickly rip Shinbatsu out and swing away at it's face sending metal and muscles flying every which way. It arches it's back after one more uppercut-swing into it's jaw, now horribly dilapidated by your bat.

Now it is time to finish the job. It's many hearts pump at high speed as it staves of the loss of most of it's cranium, back arched and arms scratching at what is left of it's non-existent face. You will show it true mercy with your final blow.

>Demolish it's chest

This horrible bleeding contraption has lived for far longer than it should have, time for it to die.

ORRRYAAAHHH!!!!!

With a massive bellow, you smash into the giant's chest with Shinbatsu in a golf swing, causing it to spin and flip on it's back. After the first blow, you've managed to remove the rest of the chest plate. Now there are six hearts total. Walking up to the chest cavity as it writhes powerlessly, you raise your bat and swing, splattering one of the still beating hearts of the flesh and metal creature. Parts of it's body such as arteries and muscles simply burst as gore fills the air. Again and Again you pound away until there is one heart left. There is a massive pool of blood beneath you now. Whatever process kept this thing alive is not on a tiny thread, convulsing and bursting as it support the creature's life inadequately by it's lonesome. You yell as you smash the last of it's hearts out and the strange and vile being finally lays calmly. Finally at peace.

You've won again, this being your biggest kill yet. You feel like your adapting quite well to this world of monsters and murderers. You walk up to Rembrandt's body, to check if he's still alive after his splattering by the thing made to protect him. He looks up at you groggily, unaware of what is going on, or anything for that matter. It doesn't bother you. You don't care anymore. As long as you caught him, nothing else matters right now. Watching him try to form words sickens you to your core. You have nothing else to say to this woman-murdering walking pile of garbage.

The first thing he sees coherently is your foot above his face as you get ready to kick the ever-loving shit out of him.

"Lights out, motherfucker."

After stomping Rembrandt back to sleep, you drag him with you up the stairs and out through the other door you haven't used yet. Reminiscing on the battle, you wonder if the villain you're taking in is the mastermind, or if this is just the beginning. The monsters you've been facing were as sophisticated as they were psychotically innovative. It doesn't seem to be the case, considering how easily you caught and apprehended the guy who's supposed to be some kinda genius. It's better if you just focus on the task at hand for now, getting this fiend behind bars. You heard voices coming from behind that other door, perhaps you should take a look at it?

>Smash the door down now

You decide that you've gotten tired of tainting your hands carrying this sick fuck. Dropping him to the floor, you quickly wrap him around his legs with your long chain as if he was about to be dragged to death by a horse. Looking at the big iron door, you decide it's time to let the prisoners out. The only one that is allowed to bully weaklings is you, after all.

This door isn't as durable or massive as the other one. It does down once you smash the locking mechanism off and mess with what's left of the handle.

There is all sorts of screaming going on as you break the door open. It is the shrill sound of terrified women, and it is annoying. Especially while your trying to work. It gets louder as you take pieces of the door off. You need to get them to stop so you can focus.

"SHUT THE HELL UP!!!"

There is a silence now as you pull the door out of the door frame, only broken by the faint sound of whimpering. Much better.

Managing to remove the door, you find five women, hands tied up, all crying, and all very beautiful. They look at you in fear as you gesture to them confidently to reassure them.

"Your safe now. There's no need to be afraid no more. I AM HERE!"

They are dumbfounded by your presence, but immediately get over it as their savior lets them out.

"T-thank you!"

You manage to coax them out without having to yell again. Now the only thing left is to get out of this hole. You'll have to move the entrance again.

_________________________________

The freed prisoners stand by as you grunt, heaving the door with a good amount of effort considering your minor fatigue. As the night air hits you, there are a lot of people staring at you. There is a dumbfounded silence as Charlotte, Lord Morrcock accompanied by some of his men, a crew of adventurers, and members of the Prontian Guard, like the ones who stopped you at the entrance to the city when you first got here, are all standing by. They all have a stupid look on their faces as they annoy you with their stares of anticipation. You throw Rembrandt down in front of you, still hogtied.

"What the FUCK are you looking at?"

Charlotte is the first one to do anything afterwards, running up to you and hugging your leg.

Charlotte's head is patted reluctantly, but deservedly. She allows you to do it this time, but makes sure you don't end up petting her hat off. You notice that it's gotten pretty dark, but are surprised when you here that it's only about 7:30PM. That battle felt much longer than it was.

You end up handing Rembrandt over to the authorities for questioning. They make you spend some time answering their questions and giving them all the information and evidence you have, including the sketches. You explain exactly how you collected the information and give them the step by step breakdown. The Prontian guard also take the girls with them so they can give victim statements.

"You've done this city a tremendous favor, my boy. I new I had to come here myself to see that monster taken away myself."

Ojisan is here too with his goons. Guess he wanted to make sure his daughter was truly safe so he could be at ease. He ends up inviting you to his new manor to celebrate, having gotten rid of the other one after it was trashed. He insists you come, as he hasn't rewarded you for saving his daughter earlier. Charlotte seems interested on the prospect of being able to chow down. You are pretty tired yourself, having not really had a good night's sleep yet voluntarily since you were dropped in this weird place.

You decide that it would be helpful to your wallet to have a nice dinner with the old guy. You need to collect on the reward you were promised anyways. The lot of you head to the new Morrcock manor, which is a little smaller, but still very well-to-do. Dinner goes as expected, Charlotte gorges herself like a pig while you try to get her to stick to her diet, which keeps you brushing Morrcock's daughter Monica off as she hits on you. You are pretty tired throughout the whole thing, having trouble not dozing off at points. Ojisan toasts to you and your feats of bravery.

After the celebrating is over, Lord Morrcock speaks to you in private.

"Son, I'm not sure how you did it, but you managed to save my daughter, as well as all the women of Prontia. I can't thank you enough. I can sleep well at night for the first time in a long while."

He pauses to take one of the more expensive looking rings off of his ring finger.

"This is a family heirloom, I want you to have it. I want my men to know that you are a "family man" in my eyes. If they ever give you any trouble around town, please let me know. I'll sort them out quickly. I've already paid for the quest reward, make sure you collect that from the Guild Hall as well."

The brass colored ring has a dull gleam and a big "M" encrusted unto it. It's a bit of an eyesore, but if you were to smack someone upside the head with it, it would definitely leave a mark. You put it on as a sign of thanks and respect. It can be taken off later when you inevitably have to move on from this city.

You are leaving the manor and heading back home when you are stopped at the gate. There is a guy who seems to be affiliated with the lord of this estate as he passes the guards without incident.

"Mr. Bieri, there is terrible news. Word is that Rembrandt has escaped from holding. I heard he was last seen heading in the direction of the guild hall!"

Are you fucking kidding me!

You look at Charlotte and she looks back at you. Where are you going to stop first.

This is ridiculous! You just put that sicko away and now he walks out just like that? Those Prontian Guard must be retarded to let something like that happen. You yell out in frustration.

"Lottie, get the old man to get his men and head to the outpost. Now!"

"Yes Boss!"

She runs back in to do as you command. It's time to run to the Guild Hall.

Dashing towards the Guild Hall, you regret celebrating and not watching Rembrandt, despite how tedious it would have been to do so. You simply wish to have this guy answer for his crimes and not get off scott-free like he's about to do. Thinking about it just pisses you off. If you were tired earlier, you are invigorated by the rage burning in your chest.

You've made it to the center of town, getting close to the guild hall when you notice something on the ground, coming from the alleyway near the church. Is that...blood?

There is a trail of blood that leads from the alleyway to the church nearby. You aren't sure what to make off it, but this is pretty hard to ignore. Someone might need your help!

You attempt to check the blood to see which part is more coagulated so that maybe you could determine which way the attacker went. You can see there is blood steadily still flowing from the alley. It seems that maybe someone is bleeding out nearby maybe?

There is a disgusting dripping trail that leads into the church. If you had to guess there is another person bleeding as well. Did two people stab each other or something?

It doesn't help that much, all you know is that whoever went inside the church isn't sitting around and dying while they bleed, from the look of it.

You end up checking the alley near the church. You only need to take a few steps forward before you find a body real itself from the darkness of night.

It's Rembrandt.

He simply sits there, completely motionless and eyes open. He is listless as he stares in front of him at nothing in particular. Further checking his body, he is bleeding from a gaping wound in his chest. Upon closer inspection, his ribs have been pulled open like a pair of double doors. Blood flows and sinks into the cobblestone street.

There is an irony here, somewhere. Breaking out of prison only to be murdered in cold blood. It feels pretty karmic.

This guy must have been that guy that the orphans and the street urchins were talking about. I has to be, there's nobody else involved like this! The trail of blood leads directly into the church.

You dash into the church with your bat ready to go, but you pass the box for those that carry arms to put their weapons away once again. It would be awful to go into the church with a weapon, but getting attacked by someone while in the church would be pretty bad without being armed as well. Looking inside, there are two small scalpels. Both of them are completely clean of any blood.

Something about bringing a bat into church doesn't sit well with you. It feels selfish. Whoever or whatever is in the church right now, you're not too worried about them. You've still got your fists.

You step into the church, to confront whatever seems to be waiting.

Walking into the Church once again, the room is dimmer than it was the last time you came, the room being lit only by candlelight scattered about. The stained glass windows reflect some of the warm, dim light around the cathedral. The ambiance is just enough that you can see the statue of Prontus, which sits front and center, as well as the pulpit which faces it that hand above the pews. The church is completely empty, except for the figure sitting in the pulpit. There is a pocket watch in it’s hand, which is snapped shut as you approach.

“You are late.”

It is the voice of a man, which has a peculiar rhythm to it. The speaker has an almost monotonous way of speaking, his voice being even and conveying control rather than emotion. Most interestingly it lacks any sort of dialect, and the man enunciates every word in the most textbook way possible, or at least the theoretically “correct” way of speaking in English. It makes your grasp of the language look like shit.

Walking closer, you are able to recognize the man sitting in the pulpit. It was the same rude asshole who had fallen asleep in the middle of church with his hood up when you met Lord Morrcock. You see the back of his hood as he sits in front of the statue of Prontus.

"Unto business."

The hooded man stands, turning to face you, and his blue hood comes off. He stands in the pulpit, and you can see his features more clearly. There is an unpleasant taste in your mouth as you take in his looks. He is tall, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. These features remind you of your own, as much as you’d hate to admit it. Thankfully, the similarities end there, as his facial features are particularly nondescript. Completely symmetrical. Abnormal.

You further recognize this man after a moment of taking in his features once again. This is the same man who held the door open for you on your way into the curio for the first time. His expression remains as stoic as his voice. IT upsets you, knowing what this man is involved in, but you have too many uncertainties to stop his question. One that is to be had between men.

"What do you look for in a female companion. One to have as a life partner perhaps?"

You’ve honestly not put a lot of time into this. You aren't a total loser, you've just never been serious about relationships. Commitment like that is a whole 'nother level. What do I look for?

>My equal

"...An equal. Someone who I can consider my equal."

This was a really difficult question for you. A girl is nice to have around to look at or for eye-candy, but someone who has a strong will like you is rather attractive. There is an image of Kurosaki Akane. You don't like the feeling this gives you...

"...And someone would could kick my ass."

The un-hooded man stares for a moment, taking in what you just said.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBVHpgsS1F0

"I see...You look for an individual who is neither you superior, nor inferior. One whom you could find to balance your own substance."

+I LIKE THAT+

What the hell was that? The already peculiar speech pattern takes warped twist as the man shows that he is pleased. It is a metallic sort of sound, it is as disturbing as it is strangely soothing as it reverberates through the church. The tones have an unnatural, inhuman sound to them.

“I am of the opinion that purity is the most attractive aspect a woman. In fact, this feeling is not exclusive to just women. I seek purity in all things. Wholeness. Completeness. What I seek is a purity through wholesomeness of form, you see. I have dedicated my life to understanding such a thing, this purity. It is the will of gods that the human figure is endowed within its physical makeup a piece of their own divinity, a piece of their own godly completion. And what is the most accurate and unbiased tool to quantify such a divinity?”

+EMPIRICISM.+

God damn it. You get the feeling this guy really enjoys hearing himself talk. You fucking hate when people have to fucking monologue like this, especially when they blather on about abstract things in such a silly way. You're way to down to earth and indifferent for this sort of thing. Before you get a chance to cut this guy off, he continues his speech, not letting you get a word in. FUCK. He turns around to face the statue of Prontus as he addresses you.

“Prontus is of the same opinion as I, and he believes that weight can be used to accurately measure sin. You see, when a faithful Prontian dies, Prontus sends one of his favored messengers - A white dove - from his own personal aviary to take their heart to him. If he receives their heart, then he invites them to his home in his eternal domain, so that they may sit with him at his table. If the dove cannot carry the heart, then the Prontian is not worthy, and they cannot dine with their god. He only permits the most pure of heart in his company, you see. Prontians have passed this story down from generation to generation. It is a test of purity, through measurement of the heart. Through the divinity of numbers

+THROUGH THE WEIGHING OF THEIR SIN.+

Now I want to tell him the story of Anubis, and then make his head spin with Nietzsche.
"God is dead, and we killed them."
>>
>>1929460
You are too confused to respond. What kind of advanced form of autism is this? After the long speech, he turns back to you and produces something held in gentle hands. Gentle coos fill the room. It’s a dove, and it fits easily in his hands easily. He takes a few steps putting himself a little closer to you, about several paces away now. He stands one step above you while on the tabernacle.

“I was having a debate with a colleague some time ago when we were both commanded to come here. My colleague had stated that I would never be able to find an attractive, human female who could fall in love with me during our stay in Prontia. While this still remains to be tested, the counter argument on my part was simple: There are no suitable suitors that were worthy of me in this city in the first place, that no woman living in Prontia could fulfill my own parameters for what I find “attractive”- Wholesome Purity. Said colleague has continued to push me about the subject, They wished for me to prove my hypothesis, insisting that produce solid evidence. I cannot allow such a ungainly, reckless wretch to continuously question my judgment with such an impudent level of disregard of my own projections”

+I WON’T ALLOW IT+

He releases the small white dove into the air, which flaps it’s wings hard to gain altitude, only to drop down in front of you, in between where you and the hooded man stands, having only flown a few feet, landing not far from the pulpit. It continues to flutter as it remains anchored to the ground. Attached to one of it’s legs is a human heart, oozing still fresh blood on the floor of the church, still in otherwise perfect condition. What the fuck is this?

“What better way to test the purity of others than to use the methods of the gods themselves? To prove my point, I have had what are considered beautiful women in a steady volume subjected to this godly test. It has been a few weeks since I’ve begun my testing the hypothesis that there are none that are pure enough here to be my lover. This one is a man’s heart, but nonetheless all results of the test have proven to be the same - ”

+UNWORTHY.+

You shake with righteous indignation as the hooded man steps over the still struggling bird tied to a human heart. How can someone be so horrific for the sake of making a point? This is beyond ignorance. Of course a bird can’t fucking carry something that weighs just as much as it does! The lack of humanity in this guy makes you want to vomit on the spot. It’s fucked up beyond all reason.

He walks forward and you meet his gaze as he stands before you. His eyes practically glow with an azure light in the dimly lit cathedral, there is something off about their shape of their black centers as he looks into your own eyes. His hands are behind his back, leaving him completely defenseless while continuing his monologue.

”...And how could they be worthy? You can look at my associate, Rembrandt. He was wealthy. Owned a large house. Had many female partners. Possessed great talent. He was what is considered a successful man.

+BUT HE WAS NOT PURE+

“...He knew this himself, and he wished to become pure. He was an empty, hollow human being who desired more. To transcend his mortal shell. To become whole. I gave him all the opportunities to prosper. I tasked him with carrying out the gathering of resources for my hypothesis, so that he may find the path to abandon his empty shell. In spite of this, however, he simply wanted more. He could not handle his part himself. He begged me to help him. So I did. Yet he still failed to meet my expectations. His involvement in my experiment was made deliberate, yet none showed the resolve to step up and replace him. To appease me. To seek me. Not until you appeared.

“You, on the other hand, are a different story. Despite coming to this world without rhyme or reason, you manage to continue to prosper and grow at a rapid rate. It is as fascinating as it is vexing. Time and time again you have proven your superiority. I am not the only one who has watched you and, needless to say we’re all qui-

DC 90: Rolled 100 - ORYAAAA

You bound forward in an attempt to shut this bastard up! He notices you aren't fucking around. For the first time since you've met this guy, you can see him express an emotion.

Anger.

+YOU DARE STRIKE ME IN THE HOUSE OF PRONTUS????+

Time slows down as you slam your foot down hard onto the marble floors. The hooded man, in an incredible display of speed, steps forward, winds up, and lets loose a huge haymaker of his own in a fraction of a second. He's no small fry! that much you are sure of. You don't even contemplate whether this was a good idea in the first place or not as your left fist smashes into his right fist. The collision that follows is spectacular.

There is a deafening boom like a thunderclap as fists collide, imparting a power into your fists neither of you were expecting. Every candle in the room is blown out simultaneously from the vacuum you've created.

In that fraction of a moment, you can feel your arm breaking under the strain of the blow he threw. He looks at you with a cold, determined fury to prove himself superior. In that one moment that it seems he might overcome you. This guy is fucking good!

You ignore that fact, letting the pureness of your reason to keep fighting against evil men like this and survive guide your knuckles as you cry out again, strong and unafraid.

ORYAAA!!!!!!!!!!

The force of the two punches cause every stained glass window to shatter as you manage to punch through this asshole's arm. His knuckles, hand, and shoulder are all torn apart by the path your fist takes. At first there is blood, and then all sorts of metals are blasted from the arm that they were once apart of in a deluge of blood and oils. You follow through after shredding through his whole damn arm by punching him right in his fucking face.

He staggers back as you struggle to maintain your balance. The shear power has broken your arm. It looks like you got the better end of the deal, seeing your opponent's whole arm has been ripped from it's socket. There is an intricate array of small metal pieces that jut and fall out as he regains his balance. All kinds of fluids ooze from his wound. The flesh on the side of his face you connected with is now gone. There is a hateful plated mask in the shape of a human face glaring back at you with a fiery blue eye. Time resumes it's normal pace as you both try to understand what just happened.

+HOW CAN THIS BE?+

The whole situation is hilarious to you, seeing the two of you here, having blown the fuck out of this church with the most perfect cross-counter you've ever participated in. It causes you to break down laughing for a brief moment You smile as you answer him, having seemed to have invoked the power of the god to which this church belongs to who seems to have given you his favor.

"He just likes me better."

The bizarre tin man looks you over with it's
frosty calculating stare as it doesn't seem to understand what had just happened.

You stand there, equally confused at the incredible display of strength that had just occured. What the fuck is going on?

Your mechanical friend can see the way you've dropped your guard. He rushes in at blinding speed. you are barely able to react as he tries to hit you with an elbow from his remaining arm. You manage to turn quickly enough with your own good arm. There is another loud clash as you block his attack, his momentum causing you to pushed back, feet digging into the ground. He is quite tenacious for someone who just got his arm blown off. It takes all of your strength just to hold him back.

+SCHEHERAZADE WAS RIGHT ABOUT YOU+

+YOU HAVE GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND+

+EXCEEDED ALL OF OUR EXPECTATIONS+

+SOON YOU SHALL JOIN US AND THIS WORLD WILL BE MADE PURE IN GLORIOUS RAPTURE+

"AS IF!!!!"

You push each other back. You feel pretty good about fucking this motherfucker up, but your miraculous haymaker has taken a great deal out of you. You are ready to keel over from the exhaustion Although his wounds are dire, he is able to stand as if nothing happened. He manages to recompose himself. Before you could catch your breath, he begins walking towards the door.

"GET BACK HERE YOU FUCKING COWARD!!."

He stands at the door, ignoring you completely. He can tell you've pushed yourself past your limits already.

"It is not time yet. Though your strength is phenomenal, you are still an undeveloped embryo. You must be slowly but surely nurtured until your power grows. Until then, we must wait."

+UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETE+

"I promise you, when that time comes we will meet again."

+AND WE SHALL FINISH THIS+

"Damn you!"

You try to chase after him, but all of a sudden your legs don't work so good anymore. You can’t let someone just walk out like that without at least explaining SOMETHING. Why do the fuckheads who know the most have to be so cryptic?

He stops at the door-frame, stretching his arm to touch the large frame of the church entrance door. Turning his head he addresses your outburst.

“I will answer three of your questions. You are strong, but ignorant of this world. I shall prepare you for it to reward your undeniable substance.”

Who do you work for? That can be munchkins pretty hard. "I work a power beyond your understanding!" Or something bullshit like that. Rapture might also spout a similar cryptic non-answer.

Really the only kind of safe bet might be going home, in that he either knows or doesnt. Ugh. Why does this have to be so hard to narrow down?!

The first wouldn't really help much. Knowing how th eyre laid out might help us go after them, unless he just specifies we have a leader, followed by sub-leader, followed by minions or something. Not very useful unless we find one in the first place.

Second ofcthose... the codenames he seems to be using might be they're real names, and they are currently using code names. Or both names are take. Names can be changed...

And the last one, well, we'll know where they are, but we're in no shape to go after them. By the time we are, they'll get word out and move. Might be able to figure out who they were and raid their old haunts, though. If they leave anything.

>"Who is "Scheherazade"?"

The hooded man looks to the side, the gesture indicating he is disgruntled by the mention of that name.

"Umm al-Tufan Sheherezade bint Alshawaash Sharara al-Tadamir al-Efreeti"

...What? He continues before you can contemplate that long ass name.

"Decima, the Tenth Seat. The Chaos Lord. One of Twelve. My colleague: Scheherazade. They were exiled from the domain of my master for being far to brash, destructive and without discipline. A free spirit. I was sent here to receive you just as well as instruct Scheherazade as a liaison to further our goals. Scheherazade is a powerful Djinn of sorts, with an acumen for engineering that comes close to my own, although far more crude in design and execution. An expert in the creation weapons and war-machines. I find them exhausting to deal with and their obsession for sowing chaos and destruction. Why create tools used only used to destroy?"

+VERY VEXING+

>What are your plans for this "rapture"

"The Demon Lord plans to destroy this world and remake it in his own image. The Twelve play an integral part as his vassals. As the generals of his armies we shall stomp the impure adventurers, heroes and false prophets that wish to oppose us. Only those with his favor will survive, and we shall rule over this realm after it's sanctimony.

+SO IT IS DECREED. SO IT SHALL BE.+

They're going to destroy the world. Fucking. Great.

+ONE MORE QUESTION+

You want to ask him who he works for, but your afraid that he's made it painfully obvious already. You don't want to waste the next question considering this guy is a regular fucking wiz-kid.

What else do you want to know.

How do I become strongest

This guy does seem to have a vested interest in us and could give some good tips, he seems to think he will pull us to his side so we shouldnt waste the opportunity to get stronger faster.

And if we get strong enough we can just beat the answers out of him and his compatriots about how to get back home after we kick the shit out of the Demon Lord.

But anon. We are the demon lord. Or at least part of him.

The problem is, I'm sure there are lots of avenues for us to get stronger. The question arises is, will his way have consequences? And, is his way be something we will be okay with? I'm not sure asking this guy on how to be the strongest is the correct choice.especially given he's an evil fuck.

Normal dude gets banished to fantasy land, becomes King Satan. But still an overall cool guy.

It's just right now we have the knowledge of a possibly millenia old tough motherfucker available to us. It may be a stupid idea, but he already said he was sent to receive us so he knows we were coming so his boss probably brought us here to act as some cardboard cutout hero that he can build peoples faith in and then knock over. Tricking one of his lackies into teaching us the secrets to getting Hell-Swole could be what we need, not like we have to follow his advice if we don't like it.

"We have an oracle among our ranks. They predicted your arrival. It was my own idea to come here and scout you out, with the blessing of the Demon Lord himself so that we may come to learn of a potential ally. My master has a great interest in you, as do I. Your growth has continued at an abnormally high rate that warrants further study. It may have to do with the unusual brain trauma you seem to have undergone. In any case, if you find yourself wanting to find a way back from whence you came, it would be in your best interest to become the strongest.

This guy sure love to hear himself talk. Maybe he'll be pliant to give you more information.?

"...And how do I do that? surely you would know. You talk an awful lot about strength and purity."

The indirect flattery has worked. He expands on his answer, and ends up answering another question you've had.

"You are well on your way to becoming the stronger. If you stay on the path you currently tread, you will no doubt become the strongest. To claim such a distinction, you must defeat the Demon Lord himself. And to do that you will have to go through The Twelve."

+YOU WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME+

"If you are able to defeat all of us and my master, you will surely have the power to return home."

+OF THIS I AM CERTAIN+

"That was three question, perhaps even more than that. It's time for me to leave, we shall meet again.

+RENAISSANCE PREDICTS THIS. SO IT SHALL BE SO+

You watch him as he leaves, pulling up his hood as he goes and merges with the darkness of night. He's gone.

It seems like there are others out there that are as strong or even more powerful than that guy, including a fucking demon lord. It sounds like if you want to get back home, you'll have to defeat him. For now, your just going to frag your ass back to the Guild Hall. You wonder whether or not this guy was telling the truth about you getting home.

Dragging yourself out of the Church of Prontus is difficult. The effect of adrenaline has left your body and you feel exhausted. That bastard must have done something to you during that brutal counter-blow. At least you think. There is an eerie silence as you haul your ass past the broken glass and other shit that's been toppled over. You've made quite a scene.

Heading back out to the entrance of the church, you heft your Shinbatsu out of the weapon-holding box. It is heavy now, and the studs sharpen to dull points on the fat end of the bat as it responds to your level of damage.

After picking the bat up, before you turn to leave, you notice that the scalpels that were in the box are gone, but there is a new item in their place: A small brown box. It has a bit of weight to it, and there is a small watermark that looks like it was just scraped into the corner. The same little cog thing you saw before on the collars those orphans-turned-monsters wore.

Do you take the box with you? Maybe you should examine it later. Perhaps Charlotte can tell if it's dangerous or not?

This thing could potentially dangerous. Using your discretion, you take the box and fit it into your pocket. You're going to need to have this checked out by someone who is qualified to do so. The Prontian guild has a lot of adventurers, surely one of them has some proficiency in checking this thing for for danger.

That is that. It's time to check so see if the guild hall is still standing. As you head out, from a distance, the tall building seems to be okay, but of course you'll need to get closer. You have no idea what that madman will do next.

Just as you leave the church, your thoughts are interrupted by a girly, but slightly low voice. Turning from where the Guild Hall is Charlotte, backed by several of the Morrcocks's enforcers. She is quickly plodding your way as the dark armored guards walk briskly to keep up with her.

They catch up to you. Charlotte is quick to question what the heck happened to you.

"Boss! We went to the Guard Outpost. Everyone was dead! All of their throats were slit or their necks were broken. The holding cell was destroyed! Were you able to find that Rembrandt guy? - What happened to your arm!? And the Church!?!"

That will make for quite the story.

One of the guards steps forward and speaks up, staring at the ring on your finger.

"You're the new Ring-Man, huh? Is there anything we can do?"

"Rembrandt's body is in that alleyway over there. One of you needs to go get the authorities to take it back for investigation. The rest of you need to watch over it."

The guards look at each other before turning back to you.

"Yes sir!"

They do as they are told without question. While helpful, it fills you with a sense of unease at how they comply so quickly.

"Charlotte, Let's go back to the room and talk. I just learned a lot of shit."

"Yes Boss!"

______________________________________________________________________________________

Heading back to the guild hall is simple enough. Charlotte pays the minor amount of money to pay for healing your broken arm, which feels like shit afterwards anyways, but at least the bone isn't puncturing your skin anymore. It makes you curious about how much dosh the little girl is packing. You think about the little brown box you brought back with you. Something needs to be done about it. It could be as much as a boon as it is something to kill you. Fuck, for all you know about the maker's love of exposition, this could end up being very relevant to your trial as evidence.

Charlotte is staring at you, trying to figure out what you're thinking about.

The guild hall is fairly full of people as you walk in, mostly chatting in the common area.. Henrietta is currently not on duty at the moment. The woman you suspect is her manager or something currently mans the front desk. Charlotte sits with you at one of the tables. You pull out the little brown box from your person.

"I found this at the church, likely left behind by a crazy machine man. Do you think you can look at it?"

Handing over the box, Charlotte looks at it carefully around its outside, tapping on it gently and holding it at a bunch of different angles with her ear to it. She takes a good whiff of it before saying anything.

"...lubricating oils. Vicorroot casing. Hmph. There is some kind of mechanism in here judging by weight and smell. Maybe it's a music box? There is definitely a minor magical element to it. I wonder what's inside..."

You stop her right there as she slowly moves to examine the hinged opening.

"Whoa. Watch that shit. It could be dangerous."

"I can examine it further with my tools, but I won't be able to determine the source of the magical element inside. It is super complex. I can probably tell what the mechanism does though...We won't really know what it does until we open it."

You have a bright idea, having many terrorists back at your world of origin having planted nasty IEDs in the international news constantly. Especially overseas. Gotta be careful looking at this thing.

"Let's take this out of the city. It could be very dangerous."

"Mhmm!"

Charlotte does as you say, retrieving her gear. Time to go somewhere secluded.

__________________________________

Now that you are far away from the city, having traveled to a point on the way you took to enter Prontia in the first place while you were injured, it's time to examine this thing.

You Help Charlotte perform the examination by holding a lantern and a torch, to give her the correct angles of light to see what she's doing. After some time of analysis. Charlotte gives you the good news in the bad news.

The good news is that I've identified the mechanism's function without opening it: it's a sophisticated message delivery system, I think. The bad news is that I still don't know whether or not the device's magical component is dangerous yet. I shouldn't do any dissecting if you want the message inside, I definitely won't be able to put it back together on my own."

So it's some kind of little voice recorder thing then. You wonder how useful the information inside is considering who dropped it there for you.

This could either really good, or really bad.

>DC 30: Rolled 94 - Look who found!

Your wallet is feeling pretty light right now, so you opt to use your negotiation skill instead. The best negotiation skill you have: Intimidation.

Looking over the adventurers, there is a good number of them sitting around. As you walk through the aisles made by the benches, it is apparent to you that this should be fairly easy. It is a trend that the adventurers who hang around here instead of being on an adventure are inexperienced, you, and fucking stupid. They keep their heads down as you pass through. You are looking for the weakest link. You stop and proceed to point at them with Shinbatsu. They flinch. It seems that word has gotten out about "The Ogre". You pass you divine judgement over their heads.

"eenie. meenie. miney - YOU!!!!!"

You shout at an armored young man - Oh hey, it's Virgin-Kun.

"You Virgin-Kun. I need you to come with me, I need a witness while I open up Pandora's box outside of the city. It's related to the kidnappings around town. If it blows up or something, I need you to throw yourself on top of it."

He stands up fearfully, but has a slight fire in his eyes at the mention of the kidnappings.

"O-okay fine, but you have to know, my name is-"

You dash over and grab him by the scruff of his neck, negating the end of his sentence.

"I DON'T CARE!!...BOX. OPEN. NOW!!!!"

You end up dragging a somewhat reluctant and confused Virgin-Kun out with you back out. Everybody else is relieved or further shitting their pants.

Charlotte seems to be enjoying herself as she skips to follow closely behind you. Time to finally open that fucking box!

After dragging Virgin-Kun out to the spot you had looked at it earlier, you put the box down.

"Stand Back."

The other two heed your command, backing the hell up to avoid whatever might happen. You will take responsibility about whatever happens.

Well, here goes nothing!

You pop the box open and...it doesn't explode or shoot out poisonous gas into your face. A good sign. There are a number of whirring parts and small pieces that move about as it clicks open. There is some water in a tiny flask and a small gem, not unlike the purple one you had found earlier. There is also a switch, which flips into position. It seems to turn the device on and off. How convenient.

The strange box bursts to life, steam is released, and the gem gleams a bit as a blue figure is projected. It's that asshole from the church. An artificial voice rings, followed by his own. Charlotte and Virgin-Kun are both in awe. You aren't impressed. Smartphones are a thing.

My status matters as validation of my intent. I am here to deliver a message, one from the Demon King. We have returned to the realm of Aetherion. This message will serve as a declaration of war against all the realms, and the Demon King challenges any and all who may oppose his claim over this entire world. The world will be cleansed and a new man will be made to replace the old man for the sake of a righteous future. To make the severity of the situation known, I have compiled data of the most current activities our operations so far.”

Open Operation: Primary Objective #1 +ASSASSINATION+
Operation status: Ongoing. Have been seeking an opportunity to complete covert assassination mission. Instructions were to ascertain the head of the current acting Royal Order of the Ser Percival of the Silver Crown of Argenon Knight Captain stationed in Prontia: SUBJECT #1 for the purpose of “Mounting onto a pointy stick”. Conditions for covert assassination have proved unfavorable. Interference of SUBJECT #2 during the use of the results of Experimental Hypothesis #66588 as a lure to draw out SUBJECT #1 has made covert assassination and cranial recovery impossible due to an increase in security surrounding SUBJECT #1. There is an array of observed symptoms: pale to greenish skin tone, nausea, headaches, vomiting blood, bleeding of all cranial orifices, green pustules, loss of control over body, and eventual death. It has proven to be un-healable by ordinary magical means. The living agent must be further tested, having mutated into a strange form. The human population of Prontia will be nearly depleted before the next winter solstice by my calculation. On an irrelevant note, the viral agent has a unique effect on the Demi-Human population living underground. It does not guarantee a swift death upon them, having not been engineered to do so. Jebus, this is getting to the point where even punching and batting things alone won't fix it--(POSTER WAS SMITED FOR HERESY)
>>

If it's viral as in virus maybe, but I think you'd need a higher concentration than beer or wine. Though boiling the malt will probably kill viruses if you go with beer.
>>
>>1932600
The contaminant is untested, so there can be a lot of stuff that even the twelve don't know about it. Maybe it's weak to extreme temperatures (boiling, distilling etc) or maybe the microbes that appear during beer brewing could destroy them.
>>
>>1932601
Punching solves everything. PUNCH THE WATER TO PURIFY

But on a serious note, these guys are Evil with a capital ALL LETTERS.

Jesus Christ, when he said they were going to have everyone killed, he wasn't joking. These are some serious acts of terror. This very much reminds you of back home. Is it a good idea to let everybody know now? It could cause a potential state of panic among the people. Virgin-kun has a face of both contempt and pain after having listened to that. Charlotte wears a big frowny face herself. Either way, it would seem that according to the log the source of the contagion is alive! You contemplate whether it can be killed.

"NOW can I go?!"

Better think fast, the next part of the message is about to play.
>Yes, Warn everyone so we can spread awareness and corroborate on stopping it
>No. If it lives, I can kill it. It's next on my list.
>>
>>1932611
We take this to a guild scribe or something and listen to the rest of it.
Also the paranoid part of me kinda thinks this is an elaborate trap where we make some high profile people listen to it before it explodes or something.
>>
>>1932611
>yes
Tell everyone to only drink alcohol products
But cant we just let virgin-kun go whilr we stay behind to find out about more shit?
Also
>punching the water pure
Simply ebin.
>>
>>1932611
No.
>"Listen to the rest."
>>
>>1932611
I'm worried that if we send him, something even worse will pop up and sending him will result in putting virgin-kun in more danger.

Reassure him you'll kill this thing, and send him to get some counter measures set up. Not sure whether now or after next message though.
>>
>>1932611
>Yes, Warn everyone so we can spread awareness and corroborate on stopping it
Be careful. Don't want you killed before you lose your v-card
>>
>>1932611
We will take care of it it's another in our to do list. But he needs to inform the guard about all of this so they can start doing some counter measures to avoid more deaths.

"Yes. Go now!!!"

Charlotte lets go of him and he's about to dash back to the city, before you stop him again.

"Be careful. I Don't want you killed before you lose your v-card"

Hilariously, he nods at you with complete determination in his eyes in spite of being off-handedly insulted.

As he runs off, you tell Charlotte to start writing all this shit down. As she's writing with some stuff from her bag, the final part of the log begins to play.

"Open Operation: Secondary Objective #2" +RELAY ORDERS+
"Operation Status: Completed. I have made contact with SUBJECT #3 as instructed. SUBJECT #3 has stationed themselves at Prontia on a whim for the past 7 years for reasons not yet completely understood or disclosed. The subject claims to have accomplished their own “objectives” which include lowering the public opinion of local Demi-Humans, causing them to be shifted underground and SUBJECT #3 improving their own influence in Prontia. SUBJECT #3 has been given orders to be followed out immediately and return to base from current punishment in exile, but does not choose to follow the orders, stating “...I’ll do whatever I feel like I want to do...”. Instead, SUBJECT #3 has decided to continue furthering their own “objectives”, which includes “...Pounding Prontia into the ground until all that’s left is a pile of burning sand...”. It is a likely possibility that the massive-scale attack on the city of Prontia’s people will likely finish off the population before the effect of the results of Experimental Hypothesis #66452 AKA the living viral agent B-0192 takes full effect. After considering possible options, I elect to allow this insubordinate behavior to continue in the best interest of the Demon King, but I will punish SUBJECT#3 accordingly after returning them to base. Secondary Operation #2 Close."

+CONTENT DISCLOSURE: CLOSING STATEMENT...+

“I will continue my work in Pronteria until the objectives have been met. Let it be known the Twelve have returned and have come for you all. The streets will run red with blood until all of the Demon King's enemies have all been slain. None shall escape our watchful eyes as we enact judgement upon you. Prepare yourselves for your most glorious Rapture...and have a nice day. Repeat message log #0461956 in 10 seconds.”

Wow, this is some heavy shit. Charlotte is in tears as she writes, clearly concerned with the idea that one of the Twelve are responsible for the Demi-Humans being scorned in Prontia.

The device seems to be working correctly, having not exploded yet. It's time to head back to the guild to show them the shocking information on this box.

"Let's go Charlotte!"

She follows you closely as you walk back. Just as you make it some of the way back, the message having been completed for the second time causes the switch to close the other way and the box to snap shut. It seems to have been programmed to do so.

Aww Shit!!!!!

It's very late. Going to call it a night now. I'll be running again tomorrow at 3:00PM. Thank you all for participating and have a good night or whatever time it is for you. Will link to a new thread if I decide to make one.

Thanks for running Truck
Don't hesitate to take a pause, I would rather miss a day or tow than the quest stopping because you got sick or whatever

Update: Running a little late. Creating a new thread soon. Will be ready in about 30 minutes.

But anon, I thought you would appreciate my slave-like work ethic. Now if only I could get my other stuff in check
>>
>>1933423
I appreciate it a lot, but like I say, I would prefer missing a day or two rather than having real life catching up with the GM and putting the quest on indefinite hold
>>
>>1933442
What's the difference between writing in your spare time and vidya, movies or books? If a person gets sick from writing, university would be the number one cause of early death.
