/qst/ - Quests

It's not the worst dream you've had, but it's definitely in the running.

You sit at your computer, that electronic cradle responsible for so many of your virtual triumphs and tragedies when everything goes dark. The monitors, the light spilling in from the hallway light, the splinter of starlight from the window, it all fades in an instant. You know it's a dream because of what happens next.

The darkness splits in half, a smile of cruelly white, gritted teeth now the only thing your eyes can see.

"Hallooooooo," the mouth drawls. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important... oh that's a joke, I know very well you don't do anything important, or I wouldn't come here... but I wanted to see if you'd be interested in... weeeeeell... a proposition, you might call it?"

The teeth gnash for a bit in front of you before the thing speaks again in an inhuman cadence, almost pulling the words forward.

"I'm curious, you see. Very curious about this little slice of reality you inhabit. I'm very curious, and also dreadfully bored. So I propose... a bit of a trade. I want to give you a power. I want to give you a power that taps on that thing you love most, those video games you've spent your whole life playing. Those electronic amusements that paaaaaass the time while your life drips away from you. I want to see what you DO with this power."

You didn't think it was possible, but the smile somehow grows wider.

"You don't... really have to do anything for me but use that power. I want to see what you do with it. I want to be entertained. Oh! But don't think you have to put on a show for... aheh... my account. I'm sure that will happen naturally... and I WANT this to happen naturally. So really, all you have to do is say 'yes."

The smile becomes a thin line of white against the dark.

"Soooooooo, what will it beeeeeee?"

>Welcome to Gamer Quest. The first rule of Gamer Quest is that I do not provide prompts. All input is player driven. Succeed or fail by your own decisions. Those decisions are made by majority vote with the QM breaking ties. The time window for votes will always be at least five minutes, but may be considerably longer depending on circumstance.

"You know..." the thing trills. "I had a hunch you might saaaaaay that."

The world snaps back into focus, the mouth gone, though its voice remains. Your computer is flickering strangely, distorted images rapidly flying across the monitor.

"Soooooo, here's how it woooooorks," the voice drawls again. "This little power of yours will grooooow with time, but for now, it's pretty simple. All those games you've beaten? All those heroes, villains, or whatever you've helped? You can choose to ask a boon of them, just three a day. All you have to do is concentrate on the game you've picked, and the... hero, heroine, faction, whatever... they'll suddenly KNOW that you helped them. They'll KNOW what they owe you. And they can send you... something back through that connection I establish. Aheh... Well..." the voice pauses. "...maybe not so simple. Shall we do a test? Yes, a test... I'll pick the first game for you, something simple. Ah! That old gem. Thief, the Dark Project, yes? Let's let old Garrett know that he'd be a burnt crisp in the lava of that underground temple without your help. Let's see what he sends back."

You feel a slight thrill go through your body, some power passing through you like an electric current. Suddenly the air splits open and a bundle of arrows crashes into your lap. Arrows with heads made of writhing water.

"...Just his spare water arrows. Well, that's the thing. Pick who you ask carefully, they have to send something, but whatever they send is up to them. Garrett IS a thief... and a cheap one to boot."
>Gain 12 Water Arrows.

"Something more useful for the second example, hm? What about that one digging game... No, no Minecraft. Terraria, yes. Let's let your character in that game know you're pretty much the only reason he's lord of a small castle."

The same thrill, the same split in the air... only this time a few bars of gold and gemstones shower down, one painfully impacting on your foot. You curse aloud to the laughter of the voice.

"There, you see? Precious metal, gems, he has plenty of these, and he's more inclined to share. You got a little tad of riches from him. And you should know there's no telling what sort of thing a contacted character will send back. Money, weapons, magical stuff, random tools... It all depends who you're asking for help."
>>
>>1955421
The thing's words drift past you as you look at the treasure at your feet. You can pay back your student loans, all your back rent, and have enough to fix up your car with this haul! ...assuming you can find a way to sell it without someone wondering where the hell you got it from.
>Gain 4 gold bars, gain 4 diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.

"Are you paying attention? Glitter of gold got your eye already... you people..." the voice sighs. "Well, here's the catch, though. You can only ask tribute of a game you've beaten, AND once you tap a game for power, you can NEVER tap that game again. Not even when that little trick I just gave you begins to mature and grow."
>The main character of this quest has the potential to gain additional powers as the quest proceeds, but once tapped for power, a game CANNOT be tapped again for the duration of the quest. Choose what to tap for what carefully.

"I think that's about it for noooooow. If you have any obvious questions, I might answer them before returning home. Really, I can't wait to see what you do with this."

>Character creation: The main character of GamerQuest has completed 300 games by quest start. Until those 300 spots are filled up, any poster may include a game to have been beaten with their response to any portion of the quest. Example: “I think we should run from the cop. Also, that old Sega game, Mercs.”

>The main character of GamerQuest may also choose to have a Specialization. The effect the Specialization has will reveal itself as play continues.

>Available Specializations: First Person Shooter, Strategist, Stealth Specialist, Tactical Gamer, Role Player, Puzzle Master, Weeaboo, Platformer, Survivalist, All Round Gamer(default).

That horrid smile returns for a moment. "Really, what does it matter what I am? Aren't I giving you a dream come true for... well, nothing, really? Do you have so many gift horses you can look them all in the mooooouth?"

The smile floats around your small apartment, hovering near flaking paint and cracked floorboards.

"I don't preteeeeeend to understand fully this quaint little society of yours, but it seems to me you're pretty looooooow on the totem pole here. Depending how you use it... well, this could be your chance to escape your... aheh, circumstances."

>Just to make it official...
>First Tier Power: Tribute: The main character may contact the protagonists of a game he has completed and receive a tribute or boon from them. He has no control over what is received, nor can he send additional messages beyond the general request.

Alright Well considering that we have all this gold and stuff maybe we should sell it. Head to the local jewler or pawnshop to start selling shit
>>
Rolled 96 (1d100)

>>1955699
You've never had enough money... or reason to visit a jeweler, but you drive past a pawn shop on your way to work. It's a little late, but you think they're still open. You could also wait until tomorrow, find and visit an actual jeweler. Work might wonder where you are, but you can afford to burn a sick day. A better question is how you will approach selling your loot. Just dump it on the counter and ask for a price quote?

>You have a use of Tribute left for the day as well.
>>
>>1955747
Look up the baseline price of all the stuff online See around what I could get for it then tomorrow come back to the jeweler and try to sell the smallest bit of gold we have so they on't miff us on the price for the big pile. After we get a good quote from them bring in the rest of the stuff to sell. Also Civ 6 russia knows I am responsible for them now owning the world with giant death robots
>>

>Game added: Civilization 6 (as Russia, tech up)

You spend the rest of the night doing some basic research on gold prices. Currently it's sitting around $1,200 per ounce... though you're not sure how many ounces are in one of these bars. All you know is that they are very heavy.

>Day passes. Day 2 Tribute refreshes: 3/3 uses.

After going through the shops in your area, you think your best bet is a small family owned jeweler's in the better part of town. You take the day off work, make the drive and produce one of the gold bars to the elderly man at the counter.

The man arches an eyebrow and takes the bar, placing it carefully on some large scales. After making some careful notes, he inspects the bar carefully.

"No markings... of any kind here. I'm tempted to ask where you got it, but..." the man looks around. The only other customers are an old married couple in the corner looking at necklaces. He whispers to you. "...I can pay you a hundred thousand for it. No questions asked."
>>
>>1955831
"Deal and I can get a lot more very quickly if you are willing to meet me tomorrow someplace secretive pro tip bring a lot of money" He seems like a shady guy we can do business with.
>>
>>1955853
The man looks at you, searching your face for signs of duplicity or treachery. Finally he takes the gold bar behind the counter and begins counting out hundred dollar bills.
"...perhaps. Tomorrow is no good, though, maybe in three day's time? I have a special appraiser I bring in for big purchases. He'll want to meet with you. You have a phone number?"
>Gain $100,000 cash in large bills. Lose 1 gold bar.

Both of those statements are true. You also have three days worth of Tribute charges if you want to do anything with them.

Also, are you giving the jeweler your contact information?
>>
>>1956015
A few dollars for an opportunity to make a few hundred thousand seems like a good trade to you. You get the phone and pass off the number to the jeweler, who pockets it quickly.

"I'll be in touch."

You feel that thrill of power surge through you, and when you look down, you're holding some weird device. A little experimentation and you figure out it's a high grade rechargeable shield of the sort the Vault Hunters wore. Probably a spare they had? Not exactly mind boggling, but a bulletproof shield could definitely come in handy... You turn it on and conceal it under your shirt.

Games Added: Chrono Trigger, Starcraft.

You look at your wardrobe. It's mostly T-shirts, jeans, and sweatpants, with some khakis and button-ups for work. It's pretty terrible, like most things in you life.

Your eye goes over to the rolls of hundred dollar bills piled on your table. That changes today.

You take a quick shower and pull on some jeans and a shirt before you hop in your beat up car and drive to the mall. You don't know much about fashion, but you're pretty sure you can do better than what you have. Much better. And while you're out there... you love your box like a brother, but it's getting pretty old. It could do with a twin. A much newer, fancier, more expensive twin.

You end up dropping five thousand over the internet for just that, ordering part after part for the very best you can get, your dream PC. With budget not being a concern, you overnight everything. It'll be here tomorrow.

An hour later finds you flashing a few hundreds to a tailor in an upscale clothing shop. You sit back as he takes your measurements, then starts bringing out suits for you to browse. A TV set up near the store display plays some news program as you kick back and pick out some clothes. The suits make you look professional, high class. You've got a lot of money, more on the way, and a very, very unique skill. You could probably make a lot of money investing what you have, or opening a business, but that would take some planning. Still... it's a good idea. You'll have to think more about it after your shopping spree.

It's only after you have picked out three suits and a few casual outfits that some of the broadcast's words reach your distracted ears.

"...strange lights were reported shortly before the explosion. No casualties were reported, but the condemned house was leveled to the ground in the resulting fire. Police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is under way. It is believed that some sort of gas leak occurred, given the bizarre reports that came in from local residents. Those people are now being treated for chemical exposure."

You don't know why, but a chill goes down your spine.

Oh right, add Gemcraft 1, 0, and Chasing Shadows to the list. Those take waaaaay to long to play in-quest.

>>1956340
You shake off the feeling and make your purchases, returning home with several new outfits fit for someone with money to throw around. The day is starting to wind down, though you feel pretty good about what you've done today. You don't quite know what's going to happen with this strange power of yours, but making a ton of money in the first day is always a good sign, right?

>Day 2 is ending, and so is this session. Thread will go active again in 19 hours. You can add games or discuss plans until then.
>>
>>1956340
k guys i know how we should play this out. for now and until our ability changes in some way we pick out games with the intent to get stuff randomly. since we have no clue what we are going to get. and as such plan our days with what we HAVE rather than what we might get

I would not be opposed to the players naming our unnamed gamer. You defaulted to All Round Gamer since no one voted otherwise for the Specialization.

If you want to do some chargen, I'm not opposed either. I wasn't going to force it, but you can throw in some suggestions for appearance, and profession, but whatever you pick, you're starting poor as hell with few friends. Look up where that explosion was
Realistically you've been given powers by, essentially, a demon and hearing about it gave you chills
You've played enough video games to understand the concept of foreshadowing

Try and talk to the mouth again and ask if there is any way to trigger the power increases
>>
>>1959389
You look up the news article on the recent explosion. Seems like it happened at an abandoned house in the bad part of town, a place called "Lumbarg Street." It's most definitely not a good neighborhood, which is why the reporters speculate that the rather bizarre reports from local residents about strange lights and hallucinations of bizarre men and a giant lizard were probably caused either by drug use or a gas leak from the run down infrastructure.

If you want to talk to the Mouth, I need to know what you are going to say.
>>
>>1959421
"Hey Mouthy, is the anything I can do to actively make my powers grow?"

Maybe go check Lumbarg street out

>>1959446
For a moment there is silence. Then a white line splits the air and the mouth returns.
"Well of cooooourse. Like any muscle, this new power of yours grows with uuuuuuuse. Use your power and it will grooooooow."

>Buy a guy
That's certainly possible on Lumbarg Street, but maybe you meant buy a gun?

The local pawn shop has a Beretta 9mm for sale if you want to drop the coin on it.

Your current car is quite secondhand and shitty, by the way. Do you want two shitty cars?

Not what you were expecting... but it could be useful. Assuming you don't crush it in your fist in anger once you find your rival.

>Gained Scouter.

You make your way to the pawn shop and ask to see the Beretta you saw the last time you were here. It's cheap, it's reliable, and ammo is plentiful. There's only one problem.

Getting a firearms license seems easy enough so long as you're not an ex-con, it's just somewhat tedious and requires a fee here and there. If you want, you can get licensed in a few weeks if you to burn the time taking the required safety classes and waiting for the background check.

>Tribute.
You let Jack Rourke he had more than his skill helping him through his races. A moment later, a briefcase falls from the air, alongside a simple paper note that reads. "Here's your cut. -Jack."

The briefcase is full of money.

Shortly after that, the doorbell rings and you suppress a second giddy thrill as you see the various boxes housing your computer parts arrive. Is it time to build that new PC you've dreamed about, or do you have something else to do today?

>>
Add game: portal if we havn't already. We've got money and a gun, hopefully we can get something for mobility.
>>
>>1960205
You spend the rest of the day putting together your new computer, installing all the programs you want on it, and then just doing what you do best: play a shitton of games on it.

You have quite a lot of fun, though it certainly says something about you that when given hundreds of thousands of dollars and magical powers you still prefer to stay inside and blow things up with a mouse and keyboard. Then again, if you weren't that sort of person, you probably wouldn't have been chosen by that strange smile for his little experiment.

All's well that ends well, you guess... except of course this is just beginning. Tomorrow you're meeting with the shady jeweler and his shady appraiser. You're fairly certain that's either going to go very well or very poorly... with no in between.

>Day 3 ends.

Tribute refreshes: 3/3 uses.

Your dreams were rather odd last night. Dreams of red, green, and blue and snow whipping around you. Dreams of distorted voices booming commands and shrieking in terror or anger. It's a relief to wake up.

As you get out of bed, you look at the battered calendar tacked to your wall. Sunday. Today's your last day of freedom before another work week... though you start to think this would be the time to quit if ever there was one. Low pay, long, boring hours... and being the only IT staff member for a small office more or less means there's nowhere else to go.

But that's a choice for tomorrow.

Right now, you've got a meeting to prepare for.

It's nothing immediately identifiable like a giant robot or gun or anything like that, though.
>>
>>1963174
I assume this is something that will take a lot of money to build we also need to translate those documents but I don't wanna put in google. We have to download an offline russian translator. Before that though I a gonna try to scouter the smiling man.

Let's put that on the backburner for now then, and get ready for our gold and jewels deal.
>>
>>1963198
Yeah we'll probably need the money anyway to get stuff for the schematics
>>
>>1963198
Right on cue your burner phone rings. When you answer, it's the old jeweler.

"Five o'clock. Meet me behind Al's Meats. Only one or two people if you must. Bring the merchandise."
>>
>>1963198
Forgot to add, how will you be getting ready for this deal? Just waltzing right in there? Are you bringing anything beyond the gold and gems with you?
>>

Wearing our shield generator, have our gun sitting in the backseat under a blanket in case we need to rush back for some firepower. A little quick familiarization first of course, to learn where the safety is, how to charge it and such.

Also, while we are still in our apartment, request tribute from kirby super star ultra.

>kirby super star ultra.
Game added and tributed.

A big tomato with an "M" on it falls into your hand. Food? In retrospect it makes sense, Kirby seems to love to eat. He'd figure his benefactor was the same way...
>Gain Maxim Tomato.

You slip on the shield, hide your gun in the car's backseat, and get ready to roll.

A half-hour later, you're parked in the alley behind the local butcher shop, your loot stashed safely in the trunk of your car. You see the jeweler accompanied by an imposing man in a suit, diamond cuff-links sparkling on his wrists.

They waste no time, approaching you as you get out of the car.

"You said more," the jeweler says, not bothering with a greeting. "How much more?"
>>
>>1963403

Open the trunk and show them.
>>
>>1963429
Without a word, you motion them back to your beat up car and pop the trunk. The jeweler frowns as he looks inside, staring at the remaining three gold bars and the small bag of jewels.

"Yes, yes, it looks nice..." he looks to you. "But I thought you said a LOT more. This is just... more."
>>
>>1963484
I mean, it's over 300% more. That's a lot to me.
>>
>>1963495
The jeweler snorts.
"I was thinking you'd have a carload... still. No sense wasting a trip. This will do for a while," he looks to you. "When I ask you if you can get more than this, will you do me the courtesy of giving me an estimate how much more you can get?"
>>
>>1963520
Sure. Maybe we should exchange numbers?
>>
>>1963552
"Hmph. Let's see what the numbers are, first."
The jeweler produces an eyepiece and inspects the gems thoroughly. "Roughly cut, but high quality stones. I'll buy them with the gold."

The jeweler snaps his fingers. The big man next to him opens a briefcase and counts out some of the money before handing you the briefcase.

"My number is going to be one hundred thousand for each of those bars you can get me. Gemstones depend on appraisal. There's a number in the case, call it when you're ready to deliver." He pauses. "Can we depend on more deliveries?"
>>
>>1963576
>Hell yeah you can. I'll bring a carload next time.

Definitely will never regret this
>>
>>1963592
The old man smiles thinly.
"Then I believe we are done here."
The jeweler's... associate grabs the loot and stuffs it into a nondescript duffel bag before the two turn and walk away, leaving you with yet more money.

The rest of the day is before you now that your probably illicit deal is done. Counting the money reveals it's just shy of half a million dollars, bringing your total funds up to more money than you've ever seen in your entire life. Of course, now you have a vaguely threatening old man expecting more every once in a while, but them's the breaks, right?

What's the next step in your master plan?

Once safely at home, you call upon your power for the final time today.

A small crate of gold bars stamped with the emblem of the Imperatus crashes to your apartment floor, cracking it where it lands. Still, you can probably afford to pay for repairs and far more with that sort of cargo... You estimated there's about forty bars in the crate, each just a little bigger than your tribute from Terraria.

You are out of tribute uses, but you have most of the day still open. How shall you spend it?

A bit dull, but you suppose it's necessary work. You find the state website, print out all the forms, fill them out and schedule a time to go take the classes. In a few weeks you'll be able to display that rifle openly... in your house. Even if open carry is technically legal here, it's a good way to draw unneeded attention. The concealed permit you applied for will let you carry a pistol around if you get one.

The day ends and you trudge off to bed...

There are no dreams at all tonight. It's as if you close your eyes at night and open them at morning.

>Day 4 ends.
>Day 5 begins.
>Tribute refreshes, 3/3 uses left.

You have an impressive stockpile of money, but other than that and fancy new clothes, your circumstances haven't changed much. Tribute used. 2/3 Remain

You focus your mind and let good old Jack Rourke know you helped him more than the one time. In terms of gratitude the man really only has money and cars to send, and he gave you the one last time, so it stands to reason you get the other this time.

Unfortunately, this is where you learn one of the rules of Tribute the hard way.

A very nice, classic BMW erupts through the air in front of you...

...right into your living room, crushing your television, destroying your only table and chairs, and putting an alarming strain on the floor judging from the groans you hear. A shot of adrenaline floods your system as you look over to your two computers, but you see them just a foot short of being hit by the car. Some part of you sighs in relief. You've still got a car stuck in your living room, but at least you still have internet.

It seems like whatever you tribute will appear directly in front of you, no matter where you are or what it is.
>>
>>1963920
Slight oversight well. I guess attempt to bring the car out after we take the pcs out and into safe distance
>>
>>1963932
If it looks like we can't take it out then lets higher some contract workers should take like 50,000 dollars
>>
What floor are we on? The car, all that gold...this could get much worse in a hurry.
>>
>>1963960
We should probably consider getting new digs with a ground floor. And a garage
>>

>>

>>
>>1964214
You fiddle with the scouter. It's got a lot more features than you thought, but all it can tell you about the bag is that it's imbued with a strange power source.

The Smiling Man does not respond to your plea this time.

>>1964230
Unfortunately, the car can't fit past the opening to the bag no matter how much you stretch it.
>>
>>1964269

Let's fill the bag to capacity and observe the change in weight, I'm assuming this is a Bag of Holding, which is surprisingly useful.
>>
>>1964283
You deduce correctly, after a bit of experimentation you figure out that anything you put in the bag has 3/4 of its weight negated. It is a Blessed Bag of Holding.

And on that note the quest is paused again. I'll resume it in 11 hours, though I don't know for how long. You are out of tributes for the day, so all you really need to do is decide what you want to do before I get back. See you then!

With nothing else to do, you whittle away the hours working on the latest batch of games you downloaded from Steam. The time flies by until you feel your stomach grumble and get up, gingerly making your way around the BMW stuck in your living room to the kitchen.

Hot Pockets? Seriously? How stereotypical...

Well, whatever. It's all that's left except for the breakfast cereal. You'll have to go shopping soon. You pop those bad boys into the microwave and bring up some news sites on your computer to browse while you eat.

Same old shit, really. Various leaders of the world call each other assholes while not actually calling them assholes, the usual assortment of crime and human interest stories...

...wait.

What the hell?

Some town in Canada named Harmont was just evacuated for an unspecified disaster.

Unspecified disaster... What the hell does that mean? Don't they know if it's a fire, or a tornado, or a maple syrup shortage or whatever the hell goes on up here? Details are very, very scarce, but the government's pulling everyone out of the town and early reports claim the Canadian Grenadier Guards have been deployed for "peacekeeping operations."

What the hell is going on over there?

World news runs out fast after that, and you read up on the local news, hoping to find more about the incident at Lumbarg Street. There's no additional information on that, but there's a human interest story about real life superheroes, those people that walk around the streets in costumes and call cops if they see crime. The article says that your very own town might have one, as eyewitness reports have someone walking around in full plate armor punching out a bunch of street thugs and leaving them tied up for the police. The odd thing... aside from the obvious, is that police report the thugs were tied up with fifty feet of rope made from pure silk.

The microwave dings and you make your way to your dinner, wondering just what is going on out there...

>Day 5 ends.

This time it's dreams of hissing static, flickering colors and two voices, muffling, barely audible through the white noise. They compete for your attention, shouting over each other.

"..an you hear me? Can you hear me?"

"...empting contact. Don't listen to he-"

"...ot coming through. Listen!"

"Turn off that interference code! What about no..."

"...an't get through, try again..."

Your eyes snap open and you have an odd feeling of disorientation for a moment. You groggily look over at your alarm clock. Eight o' clock. You can make do with six hours of sleep. The contractors will be here in an hour, you'd better look... well, at least showered and dressed. Other than that the day is open.

A house in which part of town?

You stagger outside in your bathrobe and feel the power course through you. A SHOWER of diamonds clatters from the sky, each stone nearly the size of your fist. Sixty four diamonds. Sixty four giant diamonds, and they're all yours...

"What the fuck..." you hear someone gasp.

You look up and some poor middle-aged man in a sleeveless shirt walking his dog outside your apartment building is looking at your diamond pile in awe, a cigarette limply falling from his mouth. Suddenly more aware, you look around and notice people gawking from the safety of nearby windows, and at least one car slowing down considerably as it drives down the road.

You've made a bit of a scene, it seems. How are you going to handle this?

"You... you just sort of blinked... then diamonds from thin air..." he looks around. "Where the hell did they come from? How'd you do that?"

Tribute used. 1/3 left.

You let the Spelunker know he had a hidden partner in all those treasure hunts, and a giant golden idol appears in front of your refridgerator, flanked by a few gold bars and a handful of gems. The floor begins to groan here as well, and you get the sense that the only reason it hasn't given way is because you had the sense to summon the treasure away from the car, where the weight could be better distributed.

Really, your apartment is beginning to look like a safehouse for Indiana Jones, or the backroom of Fort Knox with all the gold and gems you're acquiring.

You're about to call your 'friend' the jeweler to sell some of this stuff when there's a knock on the door. The contractors are here.
>>
>>1965134
Go out to meet them tell them what wall to knock down and where the car is to remove it. Say we part ordered a bmw and assembled it in the living room since we don't have a garage. We realized to late that it was probably a bad idea
>>
>>1965138
The contractors listen to you almost numbly as they look around at your apartment full of cash, gold, gems, and an untouched BMW sitting in the living room.

"We're... ah... going to have to call up some special equipment for this one..." the one with the clipboard says, flipping through the papers he has. "You're on the fourth floor... so we'll need to knock out the exterior wall and have a crane lower your car from the... um... living room down to the ground. I'm not going to lie, your car is probably going to take a little damage. You'll need to be out of the apartment while we work. Knocking the wall down will be easy, but putting it back up will take a little time..."

The contractor looks up from his clipboard.

"...you DO have permission from your landlo-"

"What the FUCK!?"

That last loud outburst comes from the mouth of your landlord, one Walter Nennick, a perpetually harried man with no hair, glasses, and a rumpled shirt. With wild eyes, he gestures at the BMW, the multiple cracks in the floor, the gold, the gems...

"What the FUCK is going on here?!" he shouts at you. "What have you done to my floor?! Why is there a car in my building?! Why all the fake gold and shit, are you getting ready for a pirate themed Halloween?!" He whirls around to face the contractors. "And why the hell do you have contractors here? You have to approve putting a nail in the wall for posters, you think you can just have contractors roll in and remodel?! Jesus H, I came up here to check in on a complaint, and this... this..."

Walter trails off.

"You better have a damn good explanation for this!"
>>
>>1965169
I have the best explanation for this. <bring out wad of money to pay for the apartment>. I recently got a lucrative business venture and am moving out. I got a bit enthusiastic and bought all this fake stuff to make me seem rich and then the bmw I built in a fanatic enthusiastic fit but fear not I will take my shit and get away from this apartment while paying you generously for the wall and repair.

Your landlord eyes you suspiciously, then grabs the cash and counts it. "You're going to need more than this. So long as you pay for all repair... out of your own pocket... I'll need to hire an inspector to make sure everything was done right and there's no harm to my building. There's also fees for failing to follow established procedure, noise complaints, disruption to the other tenants..." Walter looks up and gives you a searching look. "Ten thousand. Ten thousand and I'll overlook all this."
>>
>>1965225
We can spare that besides we got 62 diamonds larger than the worlds largest diamond along with a solid gold idol from an ancient tomb and some gold bars we fine on money

You go over to the briefcase you got from Rourke and count out ten thousand dollars and hand it to Walter. He snatches the money up immediately gives you a polite nod before walking rather fast to the door. The two contractors look at each other.

"So, uh, we'll have all the stuff ready to begin by tomorrow. Our estimate for all this work is around fifty thousand bucks. You have a place to stay?"

I'll leave you to debate it for a while.

You spend your remaining hours researching what it takes to start a company. Mainly you need capital, especially if you are looking into establishing a research firm. Even small scale research companies usually have to have funding in the millions to actually get anything done.

>Day 6 ends.

As you drift off to sleep, you feel something... change. Your connection to this power you have has grown stronger. You believe you might be able to summon tribute much faster and with less concentration now.

>Tier 2 power: Fast Collection. You can summon tribute instantly, without need for concentration or effort so long as it's done with a game that's been added to the library at least thirty posts prior to the summoning. This essentially allows you to try and summon help on the fly if you get into sticky situations.

You have more strange dreams tonight. You're starting to wonder if that's just going to be a thing now that you're linked to the occult by your bizarre power. Images flash through your mind, indistinct, blurry. Voices again, murmuring, whispering...

"I can't believe it! I can't believe it actually happened! I flew through the sky... This... I've never been so happy..."

"No... No, I can't have made such a mistake... They're not all dead, are they? Someone had to have made it out... the people on the outskirts are fine, but at the center..."

"Shit, shit, shit, I can't lose control like that again, nothing big like that again until I get some experience with this. Gotta be smart. Gotta be in control. Come on, come on..."

"Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic to be able to make anything I want happen. There's no need to hide anymore. The entire world will be my stage."

"This can't be all there is. This can't be true. I knew this deal was a bad idea..."

Then a terrible, toothy smile and you wake up.

You pack your suitcase and throw it in the car for your stay at the hotel, waving goodbye to your apartment for the time being. The contractors are all ready to go, loads of hammers, sledges, picks... you gulp as you remember your precious computers and hope they have the good sense to be careful.

Still, you stop at a pet store along the way and stare at the snakes in their cages. You finger the bronze medallion hanging around your neck and concentrate on the snakes moving left. They do so. You concentrate on them moving right. They do so. The medal does indeed seem to grant you some influence over reptiles and snakes.

There's a national park that people use for hiking, camping, and picnicking about twenty minutes away. A little bit of a drive... but it actually would be the perfect place to experiment a bit with Tributes.

You head out that way, parking your car in the lot with the other guests and hiking for another twenty minutes until you find a spot you know well. It's a little pond located just a east of the park's western border. You used to fish here, once.

You concentrate and feel that otherworldly connection once more. A moment later, a Sherman tank materializes in front of you. Fully fueled, loaded, and with an engraving with your name on it on the turret that says, "Keep fighting for freedom!"

Well. Very thoughtful of them. It's... going to be a bit hard to do anything with, though.

You swing by your apartment on your way back and extract your electronics. The contractors have already knocked out a good portion of the wall. It's somewhat unsettling seeing your living place for so long be demolished.

You make your way back to the hotel and set your computer up. There's some forums and imageboards you lurk on. Time to see if anything's up.

You spend two hours with your face in front of the flickering screen. Most of it was just the same old skub wars and idort arguing you're deadened to after years on the internet. There are a few things that catch your eye, though...

There's a thread made by someone living in Canada asking for updates on the situation in Harmont. He's asking if anyone knows what's going on over there, he has relatives in the town over and is worried about them. A significant amount of people in the thread say they've never heard of the place before a few days ago. One person insists up and down that the town used to be called something else. Another insists that there never WAS a Harmont until the news reported it. Several people report that the Canadian Armed Forces have set up a military cordon around the area. A few enterprising people have tried to fly drones over the no-go zone and reported back pictures that make no sense. Strange growths over buildings, pillars of fire, electrical discharges repeating in thin air, and places where the air is wavy.

Another thread has someone wondering if they've gone insane. They insist they saw someone fly over the road they were on... surfing on a cloud. They are generally mocked by everyone on the board, even after they produce phone pictures, which are immediately claimed as fakes.

The final thread of note is simply a cryptic poem that the other posters are wondering about...

Unfortunately the quality of internet translations for scientific literature is dubious at best... you're going to have to find either a professional translator or someone that speaks the language.

Things are brighter on the American Knight front. He first appeared six days ago, and the local media have been keen to track him, giving them something kooky and interesting to report on, but with a lighter spin than the other stories coming in. Other than the reports listed, you manage to find two other instances of people encountering him. They weren't reported because of the questionable nature of the stories... they claim that the Knight saved a stabbing victim by laying their hands on the man and somehow closing the wound. They also claim he vanished from sight when approached, though his clanking armor could still be heard.
>>
>>1969221

Well alright then, seems that we're not alone here in the power department. We have any tributes left?
>>
>>1969179

I'll I know is "thermonuclear' and "cat".
I think we're dead. Still Google American Knight at the first convenience.

Spend the rest of our time practicing with the ocarina.
>>
>>1969251

Ah, well let's practice with the ocarina. Also a question: does the DLC for a game that can be played on it's on. Like say Dawn of War Dark Crusade and the like, do they count as separate games?
>>
>A car, a high-frequency blade(probably without a recharging setup), ludicrous amounts of jewels and gold....
we should probably beef up automated security at some point.

I think Sanctum would be appropriate? The gun is a gun AND constructs towers.
>>
>>1969283

Our tributes are done. Plus we have a tank flanked by cops in the middle of a forest and a spiffy BMW stuck on the forth floorvof an apartment complex.

Oh and potentially nuke kitties. Let's not forget that.

EFF the BS try to scout American Knights local if possible
>>
>>1969325

That means with the web, not the Scouter.
>>
>>1969270
Expansion packs like Dark Crusade count, DLC like Borderlands 2's' Hammerlock's Hunt and etc do not as they are too short, use the same characters, and are essentially just an addendum to the main game.

>>1969270
>>1969259
You pass the rest of the day practicing the ocarina. By the end of the day you've got a firm grasp on the basics of playing. It really is a relatively easy instrument to learn.

The day is gone in what seems like no time at all, and you pull yourself to your mattress... you forgot to actually spend time turning this place livable today. Oh well. There's always tomorrow. Wait. Tomorrow you have to meet with your jeweler contact. Well, maybe after.

Dreams come swiftly.

>Day 9 ends.

The dreams you have this night are mostly indistinct mashups of color, voices, and nonsensical images.

>Day 10 begins.
>Tribute refreshes! 3/3.

You open your eyes with a groan. You have to meet with the jeweler today. Forty gold bars, everything in the crate from the Imperatus. But it'll solve your cash problems for a long, long time.

Any preparations for the meet?

Also, I've danced around it for a bit, but there's no helping it. Our protag needs a name. If no one suggests anything that gets a majority vote, I'm going to pick something when I start next session.
>>
>>1969325
I mentioned the car, and the cats would do more harm to potential thieves than to us.

I was also referring to the next day.
>>
>>1969333
>>1969325
So you're using the web, not the Scouter, OK, but how are you using the web to find the Knight?
>>
>>1969347

Alright good to know, well let's get the gold ready to go. But before we go, let's get into the main part of the warehouse right in the middle, make sure nothing gets crushed nor the cats get killed and level 2 tribute Dawn of War. Time to let Captain Angelos know that there was someone else besides the Emperor helping on Tartarus.
>>
>>1969373

And I propose the name Alex Davidson
>>
>>1969355

Well he must have some homeland he's heroing in. Anyways. I guess prep gold in bag if holding along with AR55, bring along shield and let's hit this shady shit up.

I'll grab this before I go, he's in your city. All of what I said is happening in the same city you are in. Lumbarg Street is a 20 minute drive from your warehouse.

It's just speculation but I think that this "American Knight" is somebody who used their power to live out their fantasies.

Harmont and the abandoned building are some crazy fucker who decided that they might as well fuck around, or perhaps asked tribute from a bad guy and got possessed.

And we just want to fuck around.

I'm fairly certain the others don't have our videogame-related powers because those came from our videogame obsession, but they probably have powers related to their own flaws and obsessions, a sociopath with an obsession with fire might have pyrokinesis, an SCA enthusiast with a heart of gold might become a paladin of some kind, etc.

You reach out to Captain Angelos and let him know he had more than the Emperor on his side.

There is a definite delay in the tribute returning. When it finally does, a finely crafted bolt pistol falls to the floor. The thrill of excitement that runs through you is swiftly extinguished when you examine the weapon. It's heavy, and designed for hands sheathed in power armored gauntlets, far too big for you to use effectively. Maybe you can rig something up with it later.

You let Aiden know another presence was watching and helping him during his escapades. A moment later, a black smartphone falls into your hand. The cToS system isn't in place anywhere on Earth, so the Profiler app is going to be of questionable use, but you do find some advanced coding, programming, and general hacking programs stuffed into the heavily modified and upgraded smartphone. With your IT background you might be able to do something with them.

You drive out to the storage lot and pack your car with the gold crate, the diamonds, and the golden head statue. When you drive to the alley behind Al's Meats, you find the jeweler and his associate waiting for you again.

"Good to see you, my young friend... You have the goods?" the jeweler asks. You nod.

"And more," you said, popping the hood. The jeweler's eyes gleam with greed.

"I... do not have enough to purchase all of this yet. We will have to schedule another meeting in a week. In the meantime, I will take the forty bars, as agreed. I did not bring additional money." He pauses. "As a sign of our budding friendship, my young friend, may I have one of those diamonds? Appraising it now will let me prepare the money for when you come back."

The big man begins unloading the gold, taking a moment to show you a briefcase of money before closing it and leaving it in your trunk.

>>
>>1970423
Your superphone doesn't have that kind of translation capable.
>>
>>1970446

Quickly swipe a translator download

BTW: Do our items "stack"? For example could we use the ring of serenity in conjunction with our shield to make it "resist" more?
>>
>>1970465
It depends on the item. Some do. Your shield stacks with the ring for example, since the shield absorbs a certain amount of damage before shutting down to recharge while your ring is a passive boost to resistances.

You download some translation software. As previously stated, it's not advanced enough to provide an accurate enough translation to do anything with the blueprint...
...but you do translate enough to realize what you have. It's a blueprint for a fully functional cold fusion reactor.
>>
>>1970446

Let's look up any Russian translators in town, then ask them to translate our gift from the Civ6 Ruskies

>>

Well, that's handy. If our business with the jeweler is done, is there anything else to do today? I vote for spending the rest of the day with our cats either trying to figure out the phone or the ocarina more. Are we good enough yet to try to play any of the songs from the game? Manbo's Mambo might be able to teleport us, but I don't know if it would work in our world.

>>1970511
Converting the office of the warehouse to a living space will take money and time. How much are you willing to dedicate to both? Cost will include furnishings, stocking the fridge, etc. Basically what do you guys want to have? The offices are four rooms including a bathroom, so you could easily make one room a kitchen, one a bedroom, and one a living room. The rest of the building is the cavernous warehouse space itself.

>>1970529
>>1970544
That was the only other outstanding item on the agenda.

You let your cats hop onto your lap, where they snuggle and snooze contentedly while you try out your ocarina again. You're getting better, but you keep messing up the songs. Hours pass, and eventually you order out for some pizza, noting that it's now late afternoon/early evening.

I suppose 4mil I mean what else are we gonna spend large sums of money on other than stuff that can be bought with the extra thousands
>>

Let's look around a bit for the knight, then we can eat at the Italian place tomorrow as part of our investigation, since we just ordered pizza.

4 mil on the mansion budget, go big or go home. Anything else we can just buy with the thousands we have.

As it turns out, real estate's a bit more expensive than you thought. With 4 million dollars, you manage to purchase outright an 8 bedroom 8 bath home of 8,000 square feet located a short drive from the city on Lake Michigan. It has a dock for a boat, a hot tub, and an in-ground swimming pool, along with a very nice yard. Not quite the sprawling mansion you may have expected, but more than enough to mark you as a man of wealth and status, and enough to live comfortable for a long, long time.

The main problem now is just maintaining enough income to pay the property tax, and also to furnish it. The house is pretty awesome, but furniture did not come with.

The process of buying the house will take four days even expedited. You'll need to dedicate at least one of those days to showing up to the realtor's and signing papers.

You hop in your car and drive towards the area where the Knight was spotted. It's not a good neighborhood, but the fact you drive a beat-up car helps you blend in.

How will you commence your search?
>>
>>1970727

Let's ask some people about the Knight, see if they know anything

Is there any street cameras or things like that we can hack in to

This is a poor neighborhood. If there WERE street cameras, they've been vandalized or stolen a long time ago.

You ask a few people you see walking down the street if they've seen the Knight. They all mutter excuses and are quick to walk away from you. A few people laugh loudly and say he's just some nut that's going to get himself killed. A few brag that if THEY saw the Knight, they could take him.
>>
>>1970815
From the people you talk to, you can deduce two things. The Knight prowls the city after dark, and he does this every day. It's not just limited to this neighborhood from what you hear, he goes all throughout the city.

You log the appearances onto your smartphone and get a vague distribution of them put onto a city map. It's centered on Lumbarg street.

You use your superphone to find and tap into the local police frequencies. You're not sure if this should even be possible, but that's the power of the tribute you suppose. On the scanner you hear reports of gunfire in the area you just left, a domestic dispute in Karlton Arms apartments, and... yep, there it is. Someone just sighted a suspicious individual in full armor clanking down Taurus street.

You make your way to Taurus street, not making it too far in before you hear gunfire and see a number of women in rags running desperately into the night, fleeing a two story building with bars on the windows. A rather plain sign simply says, "VCR Repair" across the door.

Other than the fleeing women, you note that the streets around here are completely dead... not even the bums are around to bear witness to this. It's just you and whoever is in that building.

Anyway, it seems to be working, because if any of the fleeing girls see you, they don't care. You hear more gunfire and advance into the building, immediately noting a handful of men with bloody holes in their bodies... probably made by a stabbing weapon. The sounds of a struggle echo from deeper into the building.

Sneaking further in, you find a door that looks like it was broken down, a flight of stairs leading down into a basement. Bullet casings are strewn about.

Then you hear a bellowing roar from down in the basement that could not have come from a human mouth.

What do you do?

That silence is broken a few moment later by the steady clanking of someone in metal armor. From your hiding spot, you see someone in black and gold armor climb up the stairs, their face hidden by a full helmet. Their footfalls are shaky and blood spatters their armor. A large backpack with bulging pockets hangs from their back alongside a shield, and a sword rests in a scabbard at their belt.

Whoever this is, they haven't noticed you yet.

"I wasn't going to..." the knight says, lowering his sword. "I... I fucked up again. I thought with the reputation I was getting I could intimidate them down, or just use..." he pauses. "...or just knock them out. I didn't mean to kill anyone, not even scumbags like these guys. I mean, who would've expected them to fight even af..."

He catches himself again, shaking his head. "Nevermind. No, I'm fine. Some of it's my blood, but I'm fine now. I can take care of myself." He looks from side to side. "Listen, the cops are going to be here soon. We should get out of here."
>>
>>1972308
Is there anyway to contact you I am a huge fan and was wondering if you could use help. Plus you seem more like a hero than I thought after all you didn't want to kill these guys but you had no other choice
>>
>>1972308
Let's ask him if he has a safehouse or anywhere to lay low nearby, best we don't let him know where we operate from for now. If we escape with him, we should make sure that we conceal our rifle in our bag before we leave so there's no headline about a rifle wielding sidekick with the knight.
>>
>>1972334
changing my vote to this, traveling with the knight would just draw attention to us,
>>
>>1972334

"Huge fan?" the knight tilts his head. "I've only been around for less than a week... Uh, I don't really have like a Knight signal or anything..."

>>1972336
"I have a place, yeah. Follow me, it's a bit of a jog from here. Just off of Lumbarg street."
>>
>>1972354
Belay that jogging bit then.

"I guess I could use some help... it's getting pretty clear that operating solo isn't as easy as I thought it would be. Do you have a way I can contact you?"
>>
>>1972357
Well our car's gone by now might as well continue with him
>>
>>1972365
Give him the burner phone number
>>
go i guess, not sure why we got involved with him instead of building our power up but whatever.

add tails of symphonia, might get an exphere.
add Geneforge, could get something to help train or upgrade them cats.
add metal gear solid
>>
>>1972365
Give him our number then GTFO
>>
>>1972365
Didn't see the second one yeah don't follow him
>>
>>1972365
Cautiously ask while on the move where he got the armor from. Could be useful.

Ignore other anon and MENTION we have a car outside. Wish we had the scouter...

I was going to stop at 3 but fuck that:
>Game: Breath of Fire 2
>>
>>1972420
I still don't know why you didn't bring it, the Scouter's main purpose is to find beings with strange powers.

"Where'd you get that armor from anyway?" you ask.

"Oh... uh... a friend... gave it to me," he mutters. You've known him for less than a minute, but you can say with confidence this man is the worst liar you have ever met.

>Game Added: Breath of Fire 2

>>1972396
>>1972375
"Sure. Just call my phone, it's 555-1337," you tell him. He pulls out a tattered sheet of ancient parchment... and a ball-point pen.

"555... 1337... got it..." he mumbles, stuffing the parchment into a belt pouch. "I'll be in touch if you really want to help. God knows this city needs all the aid it can get."

The knight looks from side to side one last time, then nods to you. "OK, getting out of here now. Talk to you soon."

With that, he scrambles for a nearby open window and vaults out of it. For your part, you just sneak back to the doorway and back to your car. Despite the knight's worry, no one seems to be quick to investigate.

>>1972385
Games Added: Tales of Symphonia, Geneforge, Metal Gear Solid.

Your car is unmolested when you reach it. It probably helps that you were only gone for a few minutes and gunfire was scaring away all the normal thieves.
>>
>>1972442
Drive back home and check the contacts we hacked from the knight's phone.
>>
>>1972447
Seconding
>>
>>1972447
>>1972454
You drive back with a little more speed than usual, reaching your warehouse (the mansion won't be ready for a few days) and rushing inside to look up the numbers you got from the knight's phone.

That poor fool has no idea how to conduct a covert operation. You find his Facebook page in five minutes of searching.

His name is Alex Sloan and he works at a local tabletop gaming store called, "From Swords to Starfighters". He lives on Lumbarg Street with his parents, and he's twenty five years old. He has almost as few Facebook friends as you do. The other numbers you got from him correspond to those of his parents, family, and two of his friends. Aside from gaming, he seems to have been involved in the local RenFest, and occasionally fences.
>>
>>1972485
Oh my god is he a dnd larp nerd. Is it only nerds that got this power?
>>
>>1972485
Ask Smiley if this guy got the same boon as you.
>>
>>1972524
"Where's the fun in me telling you that?"
>>
>>1972485
Lets go to bed
>>
>>1972485
Practice the ocarina a bit more before going to sleep
>>
>>1972533
"Thanks, buddy."
I can't remember, do we have any tributes left? If we do, I wanna see what Geneforge will get us.
>>
>>1972533

Whatever, its fairly clear that he got SOME power from SOMEONE. If I had to guess I would say it is similar to our power, except with his tabletop games.
>>
>>1972485

Fug, I knew it. Before going to bed, let's examine the crystal staff from Fictorum and drink the most appetizing Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup potion in our bag. Also, practice the Ocarina if we still have time.
>>
>>1972577
>drinking potions to id them
Maybe the one of the scrolls is an identification scroll, but before that maybe the DCSS items will look different if we use the scouter
>>
>>1972599

>he wastes id scrolls on consumables instead of enchanted items

And I'd wager you play a Deep Elf Wizard as well. All the same, using the Scouter is a brilliant idea I can't believe I didn't think of myself.
>>
>>1972577
Going through your potion bag, you notice they seem to all be different from each other... You got a variety pack. Are you sure you want to drink a potion?

You examine the Crystal Staff. It seems to thrum with power, but currently you're not sure how to use it...

>>1972568
You have no tributes left for this day.
>>1972554
>>1972552
You fiddle with your ocarina a bit before going to bed. You can almost play Zelda's Lullaby now. Not bad for only a few days of self-taught lessons.

>Day 10 ends...

You dream of sitting in a room that seems to be alternating from red to velvet blue. An extremely short man twitches and spasms in the corner... then his nose elongates... then it goes back to normal... then he whirls around to you with a smile so wide his mouth bleeds.

"Let's dance!" he crows.

The dream falls apart into static and voices, the two insistent ones from earlier shouting over the rest. Even they cannot manage to make themselves heard.

Both voices are drowned out by a smooth and deep voice. The face of an older man with a carefully groomed mustache appears and snaps his fingers twice to either side.

"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see..." he sings, almost doing a little dance as he does so. "One chants out between two worlds...'Fire, walk with me."

>Day 11 begins

You open your eyes to the incessant buzzing of your phone. Not your burner, either. Your real phone. Someone you know is calling you.
>>
>>1972618
I never even graduated from playing fighters, I stopped after I escaped with the orb once ;_;
>>
>>1972689
Lets see if we can get caller id. Or better yet if our hack phone can trace the call
>>
>>1972618
>>1972599
Using the Scouter, you are able to analyze the potions enough to where you think you know what each one does based on the sorts of energy the device says each is imbued with you. You don't know if this method will reliably work to identify every little thing you get, but in this case, you've managed to figure out that the bag has one of each beneficial potion and scroll in it.
>>
>>1972717
Phew, I was thinking there would be some negative ones in the mix. Here's a couple of lists on the items for the thread's reference:
http://crawl.chaosforge.org/Scroll
http://crawl.chaosforge.org/Potion
Let's hope we're damn sure which are the potions of beneficial mutation and berserk.
>>
>>1972712
Looking at the caller ID, it's your friend, and former co-worker Sam, more or less the only friend you have in meatspace these days. You haven't seen him since this madness all started. Will you take the call?
>>
>>1972764
Sure
>>
>>1972700

You've actually managed to escape with the Orb intact? I envy you.

>>1972717

Let's read the Scroll of Identify in an attempt to identify the crystal staff.

>>1972744

I'm extremely tempted to drink the potion of beneficial mutation, but we'd almost certainly come to regret it.
>>
>>1972764
yeah, pick it up
>>
>>1972764
Yeah pick up the phone.
Also tribute Diablo tier 2
>>
>>1972717
Anyone wants to read the Scroll of acquirement? If so what should we ask for?
>>
>>1972771
The Crystal Staff greatly increases the power of spells cast with it, and provides additional mana to cast with... This staff would be invaluable if you learned magic, but is useless until you do.

>>1972769

"Alex, what the hell are you doing? Did you seriously quit your job?! And I came over with pizza the other day to surprise you and your apartment was freakin' leveled, dude! There was a car in your living room! Be honest with me man, did the Ariana sisters finally find out where you live? Because this is some next level crazy right here, dude."

>>1972833
We can't get that specific, if it works like it did in the game. I vote for either a book of magic (hopefully we can learn from it) or jewellery (for something that can help us right away). I'm leaning towards a book, since we have that crystal staff.
>>
>>1972839

I've never played Diablo, can someone give me a quick rundown?
>>
>>1972797
>>1972862

Let's read the scroll of acquirement and ask for a book. We need that sweet, sweet magical goodness. I just hope we don't get something way beyond our current skill set. Also, strengthening our willpower using those mental lessons would likely prove invaluable when we start messing with sorcery.
>>
>>1972865

Apparently we can put stuff in it to get different stuff. There's some good recipes on that page that cold help us.
>>
>>1972862
>>1972879
In that case I vote for the book as well.
>>
>>1972883

Thanks, it doesn't seem all that useful to us at the moment, but it's definitely worth having.

"Sorry man, I moved out. Had to find someplace cheaper since I quit. Living with the folks for the time being, whatever happened at the old place happened after we left."

"OK, but why the hell did you quit? I know it's not a good job, but you gotta have SOMETHING coming in these days," Sam says. "Unless you have a lead on something better? Are they hiring? I hate this place just as much as you, man."

Omfg. For future reference tributes: we have a tier 2 power, start being a little bit more specific with it would you kindly.

Holy balls: add Final Fantasy

Also: the ring and shit, well we knew how it worked right? So shouldn't we have at least a glimmer if magical power? I meant to ask this earlier

A treasure chests lands with a thump in front of you. The lid pops open when it touches ground, revealing gold coins, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, a crown, necklaces, rings, and much more...

...but more intriguing is the black blade lain with care over the coins and assorted treasure.
>>
>>1973102
"All right..." Sam says, unconvinced as he terminates the call.

The day is wide open.
>>
>>1975454
Oh boy, let's scouter that blade. I guess we can give the other pieces a quick glance, too, in case they're enchanted.
>>
>>1975492
The Scouter detects overwhelming magic from the blade, but it cannot determine function other than it's imbued with fire, poison, and time magic along with powerful wards. There's a seal of some sort affixed to the hilt.
>>
>>1975529

Check the seal
>>
>>1975624
It's a seal of some waxy material covering a portion of the hilt. There's no markings on it and you can't get it off.
>>
>>1975655
Test it out by swinging it on a wooden box or something.
>>
>>1975674
You take up the sword, it feels warm in your hands, and you feel a rush of power. You whirl around and slice the heavy chest's lid clean off, managing to avoid damaging your newest set of booty in the process.

>>1975697

Check what the chest has in it
>>
>>1975722
Countless coins, a gaggle of gems, and tons of trinkets. None of it is useful, but it's all very valuable and quite pretty.
>Chest of Treasure gained.
>>
>>1975744
Go and check the news.
>>
>>1975759
All news channels are reporting the same thing today.

"...reports from spy satellites. To the last man, every North Korean soldier manning the border, every artillery site, and every military base within a hundred miles of the demilitarized zone has been destroyed. The United States denies responsibility, but a furious China is demanding more substantial answers from the western world. There has been no statement from North Korea itself, and all the public faces of the government have been conspicuously absent. Scattered reports from refugees already pouring into China and South Korea seem to indicate an army of three meter tall, chrome giants studded with blades attacking every North Korean strongpoint at once. China claims this is evidence of a new superweapon by the United States, while the United States claim this is a false flag attack intended to destabilize the current world political situation."

>>
>>1976455

I'm assuming as much but it seems to be with every tier we get a better chance of getting what we actually want. Tier 1 is whatever they give us, but tier 2 gets us closer to shit we want.

I wonder whats going to pop out of here.

Two votes against
>>1976360
wanting to reveal, so...

You terminate the call and then call your last power for the day to let Lloyd know you helped him save the world. Worlds. Helped him save two worlds.

Whatever. You get a Krona Symbol.
>Gain Krona Symbol.
Tribute 0/3 uses.

>>1976440
>>1976455
Tier 1 Tribute you can add and tribute at the same time, but you can't manage it outside a safe zone. Tier 2 lets you summon instantly and anywhere, but you can only summon from games already in the pool.

For example, if you tried to add and tribute something in your little mission in the slums, you probably would've gotten shanked by someone as you stood around for ten minutes with all your senses shut off, concentrating on your power.

I'll note you guys are pretty close to tier 3, which lets you do something completely different. There is a tier that lets you request items, though.

Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension - Magical artifact/Magic gems
Fallout 3 - power armour/weapons
Mech Assault - A Mech duh (Do the tribute at the warehouse)
