"I'm sorry, Scraptown? Scavenged Fortress?"

"It's an odd place, assembled from remains of metal structures found in the desert. The scavengers are the only ones who have gone deep inside and returned alive, although not without losses... Their city is kind of... ramshackle." Nissa tries to explain to you, "They try to figure out how the things they've found work."

"And this vehicle is recent?"

"Very recent. Within the past few months. We snatched it up as soon as we could. Someone in that desert is using Otharthurian tech, or making new ones..." Or it could be Otharthurians. Although you wonder why they have remained in the desert. Surely there are more resources around them? Just what are they doing?

"Took a lot of convincing, the sand skiff sailors hate to give up these kind of prizes." Nissa nods.

Skiff boats... in the desert?

"How do the skiffs work? They're boats, aren't they?"

Nissa nods, "They use large sails and fins, like a miniature airship, and glide over the sands. They are super fast. I'm not sure the details on them, but they are totally mechanical in nature."

Unusual vehicles, but if they are fast, odds are they beat Otharthur's vehicles through speed and exploiting flaws in the design. Interesting. You'll need to see one at this 'scraptown.'

The first thing you ntice when you climb the stairs is the abundance of Ollamic war robots. They seem to crowd the room, each bearing marks of a struggle that destroyed the interior. Guns hang uselessly from their carriages, never to fire again.

The center, however, contains something a bit more alarming. It's a Terminal pod, much like Artoria's. Unlike artoria's it isn't open. Rather, it looks as if someone broke into the thing and ripped the terminal out. Someone must be aware of these.

Artoria shudders slightly at the sight.

"This is our display of Ollam technology. Mostly it's metal beasts, but Cyer brought back this pod from an expedition in Delothian territory! It's rare to get artifacts from there." It's left to the imagination if it was Cyer or Deloth who forcibly removed the terminal. You can't be sure any archivum reports from Cyer are correct. He could have pried it out to learn how to properly remove one.

"How long ago was this pod recovered?" Your question causes Nissa to pause and think.

"Hum, last year, I think? Yeah, it was a big colaboration between Cyer with Garvelton Industries backing him."

Garvelton... backing Cyer. That sounds pretty bad.

"Are they still working together?"

"From what I understood, yes? Garvelton regularly donates to his expeditions. In fact, a majority of the money he gives is for Cyer. He's our biggest donor."

And Cyer is the #1 archaeologist. Clark smirks.

"So Garvelton backs Cyer, Cyer gets the top position in archaeology... and what does Garvelton get?"

Nissa frowns, "I don't understand?"

"Garvelton is always scheming to get ahead. I bet Cyer is his key to controlling ancient weapons to supplement his eldritch minions." Clark muses, "Or perhaps Cyer is the one using Garvelton? Who knows?"

"C-cyer was my mentor! He wouldn't do such a thing!" The magician protests.

"Hrm, for that I say wait and see." Clark replies. The air has a slight chill for this summer day.

On looking through the Ollamic displays, you stumble upon a weapon. You know the insignia and strange form, but Sam blurts it out.

"Wh-what's an IRU rifle doing here? And pistols!"

"These were found in an Ollamic ruin in Nelola. Do you know something about these?"

>What’s the story behind these guns? These are not ancient at all.
>and what state was the pod in when cyer delivered it? Artoria was imprisoned in one just like this...

I’m sorry Nissa, but all people have a side to them you don’t see. The picture we’re getting here is not a nice one at all. We’ll get to the bottom of this.

"I don't think these guns are artifacts..." You start.

"Don't be ridiculous. Of course they are! Our magical analysis placed them at over 4,240 years!" Nissa replies, dismissively.

This means the guns were in that location... 4 years before the Grand War. Sam whispers to you, "Instability of anomalies can lead to someone getting thrown across time. The IRU is known for using unstable anomalies to move about, so they might have ended up in the past..."

"Are you saying Professor Trost can go back in time?" The applications could be astounding, but Sam shakes her head.

"No, he can only move in one direction temporally.,, We think."

Nissa frowns as Sam whispers to you, "Is there something I'm missing here?"

"The pod... the one we saw... What state was it in when Cyer delivered it?" You ask, deflecting the magician.

Nissa takes the bait, "Well, it was in the current state, of course. It was a sealed ruin, so I'm sure whatever it was inside was broken out long ago."

You glance back to Artoria, who shakes her head in response, then back to Nissa. If it arrived in this state and the ruin was sealed... that meant either Garvelton or Cyer claimed the Terminal within. But if Cyer already had a terminal, why would he make the ollamic ruins off limits? Did the terminal die from being forcibly removed?

>did you recover any working guns of this type?
>Why are artifacts in Delothian territory rare?
>go to other rooms.
>>
>>1970292

So there are anomalies that traverse the time... this could have grave implications for causality and known history. What else could have happened before or during the war with a cause in the future?
Are we going to have to go back in time to fix stuff? Are we predestined to? Should we?

>why are artifacts from Deloth rare?
assuming politics

also how many guns does Jeremy even need to produce? I mean in standardized series rather than development iterations or various crazy prototypes. I thought it's just him, the Vee and Faye... maybe these are guns he hasn't even made yet but will in future, perhaps for allied forces?

"Why is it so rare to get artifacts from Delothian territory?" You ask, determined to get a scope of a current world power.

"The Empress deemed all of the ruins for Delothian use, so they can use them for their own goals instead of the betterment of civilization. Most of their technology is based off Otharthurian and Ollamic patterns, reverse-engineered. I've heard some talk that the Empress actually has a force of Terminals that have been brainwashed into serving the Empire, but those are just rumors."

Uriel shakes his head, "Not really rumors. Have you been to Deloth?"

"Erm, no, I haven't." Nissa replies, "I've never left Esmor... it's a dangerous world out there..."

"The Terminals are called 'Daughters.' They work for the Empress directly, but I'm not sure about brainwashing." Uriel states, "Now, if you want a rumor, some say the Empress is a Terminal herself. Another rumor says that one of the four immortals gave them the power to take Terminals."

"Are you implying the immortals exist?" Nissa asks, "Because I've never seen one."

Clark coughs.

"And I'm sure they'd come to the Archivum, since we have the biggest collection of infor-" Clark coughs again, interrupting Nissa, "Excuse me, mister, could you please stop doing that?"

"Well, I mean, you claimed you never saw me, and now you are saying that I'd come visit just because you have more books than everyone else." Clark sighs.

"Ah? W-what? WHAT?" Nissa takes a step away from your eldritch magician, "Then... You... you wouldn't be..."

"Clark Thule. Eldritch enforcer."

"The forbidden magician?! But you're so small! And your hair..."

"Please do not mention the hair." Clark replies in dead seriousness.

"You are pretty famous, aren't you, Clark?" You comment.

"Not really famous, but infamous." Uriel responds before Clark can. "Most know very little of the eldritch enforcer. And less have actually seen him."

Nissa nods, "Up until this point I thought he was just a story told to young magicians to scare them away from practicing dark magic."

Clark sighs, "All my work and I'm relegated to the magical bogeyman."

"And who are the other three immortals?" You ask. Nissa shrugs, but Uriel continues.

"Well, there's the Eternal Nobleman, the Ageless Doctor, and the Ghost Admiral. The Eternal Nobleman is an evil magician, and I assume it's my father. The Ageless Doctor is someone nobody has seen, but he's responsible for the Delothian airship technology... And the Ghost Admiral..." Uriel pauses, "The ghost admiral leads a fleet of lost ships in the fog of the mistlands, protecting a lost city..."

There were no immortals back in your time... at least, none you were aware of, although Clark seems to predate that era. Garvelton, perhaps, is also before your time. The other two are mysteries, though. Ollamic or Zerican survivors who cheated death? Who knows?

"Is it a lost city? I thought it was an ancient weapon, or a vast airship." Nissa remarks.

"It changes depending on who tells it. I heard it was a lost city." Uriel replies.

You move to the next section of the building. It appears to be offices, though a doorway is clearly labeled 'classrooms.'

"This is administration offices. All our paperwork occurs here, and our research is assembled for distribution or storage!" Nissa leads to a large office overlooking the city. Outside the skycrystal bobs in the air, but you see something... A Zerican airship? No, it's not their make, but it is the technology for sure.

"This is the archaeology department! All archaeologists report here after an expedition or excavation."

You notice Cyer and Alistar have offices, but the other two are blank. One is full of boxes. A great desk dominates the center of this room, probably for the department head.

"Oh, eheh, that's my office. I'm not moved in yet."
