You are pilot HARRY NEUMANN, the newest of one of the New UN Spacy's Tactical Sound Units!

Right now, you were sitting back in the briefing room, though this time with different company. Rather than the who's who of the people running the sector, instead it was you, Dorothea, Freyberg, and yet another new face, though could immediately tell that he was part of the fleet's fighter group from the pilot jumpsuit he was wearing. The CAG, maybe?

"Captain." Dorothea greets with her her usual professional air. "I believe you already know General Freyberg. This here is our air group commander, Colonel Kellerman."

"Sir." You salute.

"Good to finally see you in the flesh, Captain." Kellerman nods. "Please take a seat."

It's only now that you notice just how HUGE Kellerman was. His body was wide and thick from both a large frame and thick muscles. His rough, tanned, and scarred skin also indicated many years of experience and rough abuse of all kinds, both natural and man-made.

He was also wearing a pair of stylish sunglasses. Whether it was due to a legitimate eye condition or just because he thought it looked cool, you weren't sure, and didn't think it was a right time to or place to ask, anyways.

"Now that you're here." Dorothea leans forward, hands interlinked together as if deep in thought. "Can you detail exactly what happened out there?"

"Yes sir.

We received reports that zentradi battle pods were in the area and the decision was taken to engage them with regular valkyries instead of just leaving them to ghosts.

The battlepods attempted to hide in the asteroid belt where they likely might have had a better chance against us in CQB, hence me and Lara decided to flush them out with a salvo of micromissiles before engaging them in the open.

During the encounter, we also discovered a Recon variant attached to the squadron which was attempting to get away. Lara kept the rest of them busy while I broke away to engage the escapee so as not to let the enemy get any data.

All targets were destroyed over the course of the mission."

"We found and engaged the Zentradi. Simple as that." You say. "Four standard Regulds and one recon variant that were lurking in the asteroid field."

"And I see you and Williams eliminated them pretty handily." Kellerman grins as the holotable activates, showing the battle from the perspective of an observing Ghost drone.

It was kind of surreal watching your own actions through a different set of "eyes", but you do see Lara making quick work of the Zentradi battlepods while you chased down and splashed the recon scout.

"Five enemies shot down with zero casualties. Not even a lost Ghost." Dorothea nods approvingly. "It seems you and Lieutenant Williams' records were not just for show."

You stay silent, waiting to be asked to speak.

"Now this isn't a cause for concern?" Freyberg asks, dabbing some sweat off his brow. "Zentradi being sighted so close to the Cluster..."

"They were engaged at our outermost defense line, five light years from the Cluster." Dorothea sighs, as if she had to explain this multiple times to him. "The reason for it was to give us ample warning to respond, just like how this situation played out."

"Good, good." Freyberg sighs. "You know how it is. People hear word of Zentradi lurking on the borders and they start to get... antsy."

"I'm well aware of the civilian concerns." Dorothea says curtly.

"Don't worry, it was just a scout party!" Kellerman laughs. "The Zentradi only respect strength, and such an aggressive response will put them off from coming back. For a while, at least."

"Still, the fact they had a dedicated scout accompanying them is concerning." Dorothea frowns. "That signifies intent to map out our defenses."

"R-really?" Freyberg pauses.

"That's a pretty big leap there, Admiral..." Kellerman frowns.

"The Zentradi are a lot of things, but one thing they aren't is stupid." You cross your arms. "Despite being uncultured, they're still a military society. That means everything they do has a reason."

Dorothea nods at that, while Kellerman just shrugs. Freyberg looks concerned as usual.

"We'll step up surveillance patrols. I want you to double the number of Cat Eyes on deployment." Dorothea turns her gaze to Kellerman. "Can it be done?"

"Double planes means double shifts. We can do it no problem, but that won't leave us much of a reserve." Kellerman sighs.

"Of course. It's only temporary." Dorothea replies.

"If you say so." Kellerman nods and looks at you. "So how exactly will chain of command be handled here concerning the TSF?"

"Technically, they fall under your area of responsibility, but they answer directly High Command." Dorothea responds. "Which means they are under no obligation to follow your orders."

"Typical." Kellerman groans. "And let me guess, all their orders are gonna be routed through that spook?"

"Agent Weiss is the designated liason, yes." Dorothea confirms.

"I don't like her at all." Kellerman grumbles. "I've been getting a lot of complaints from my pilots about her, too. They always get the feeling she's snooping around."

"Has anybody actually caught her 'snooping around?'" Dorothea narrows her eyes.

"No." Kellerman admits. "But you know what they mean."

You decide to stay quiet on this matter. Talking about spooks openly was always a dangerous thing to do, even it was just idle chatter.

"I'll keep that in consideration." Dorothea sighs. "Anyways, speaking of Agent Weiss, she and Amy have already taken a shuttle to Nabaal."

"Really?" You blink. "Why?"

"Her idea. An effort to 'raise morale', Agent Weiss is planning to take Amy to a big meet and greet with the colony big shots."

"Sounds like one of those fancy parties." Kellerman frowns. "I'll pass."

"Good, because you're not invited." Dorothea smiles ever so slightly. "No need to be formal, though. It's basically just networking for Agent Weiss."

"And why do I have to be there?" You frown.

"Personal request. You and Lieutenant Williams are to act as Amy's escorts." She explains.

"Chaperones, you mean." You correct.

"Just keep an eye on her." Dorothea groans.

And that's why I think we should go for a holographic paint job that we can easily change.

Or they'll force us to fly a specialty plane full advertising (like one of those blimp ads but it's a plane!) and have us project holoprojections of cute kittens in boxes and upcoming idols

Then BAM! Zentraedi arrive and become utterly confuzzled by advertising and garish colors.

Thus inventing an insidious new culture weapon. Memetic advertising.

"We'll be seeing you, then." You nod as you get up.

"Please stay safe." Dorothea says coolly. "Lara knows the way down, so you can follow her lead."

"Yes ma'am."

"Don't crash into anything on the way down there." Kellerman grins. "Would hate to lose a good pilot so early."

"I'll try not to, sir."

"Very well, dismissed." Dorothea says. "Let's return to business at hand."

With that, everybody gets up and goes off on their own ways. Dorothea heads back to the bridge, Freyberg shuffles off to join her, well Kellerman gives you a nod and heads off to wherever he goes.

You meanwhile head off to the hangar, where you see your Excalibur, now all painted up with the black camo and yellow trim. Just like old times.

"Heh, I could swear you're tearing up right now." Rutger laughs.

"Nah, the atmo in this hangar is just crap, that's all." You retort.

"Well, anyways, paints all done and dried up!"

"Is she ready to fly?"

"Of course!" Rutger nods. "As long as it's not into another furball!"

"Nah, just a casual thing, this time." You assure him.

"Then she's ready to go." Rutger pops the canopy open for you. "Just in time. Looks like Lara was waiting for you, too."

You turn to see Lara's Excalibur already on the launch deck. She waves enthusiastically to you and you give her a thumbs up.

You drop into the cockpit and the two of you launch.

"Come on, Cap! I'll lead the way!" Lara chuckles as you see her Excalibur happily weave and dive for Nabaal's surface. "How about we give the people down there a little show?"

You see her Excalibur dive down into the atmosphere, and you follow suit. A quick dive through a cloud bank, and you could see Nabaal City, the planetary capital. As expected, you could see the massive, towering figure of a Macross-class ship standing guard among the towers and skyscrapers. Your HUD immediately marked it as the SDF Kapisi.

At its feet, you could see the city itself. Just a wide swathe of buildings and towers. On the edges of the city, you could see crystal blue lagoons, surrounded by pearl white bands of sand.

"How about we hit the beaches?" You suggest to Lara. "Give the tourists a show?"

"Now you're speaking my language, Cap!" Lara laughs as she banks her fighter towards the lagoons.

"Yellow Team, this is Kapisi Control, you are deviating from the projected landing course." The flight controller's concerned voice buzzes through your comms. "Is there an issue?"

"Nothing at all, Control, just working out a kink in the controls. Gonna circle around to see if I can get it sorted out!" Lara replies.

"I suppose so." You concede. Whether they caught on or were genuinely concerned, you weren't sure. But you couldn't do much about it now.

"Aw man..." Lara groans.

"Maybe next time." You try to reassure her.

The two of you land without issue and are quickly led deeper into the... ship? Base? You were never sure how to refer to landed SDFs since they acted as both. Either way, you're quickly led to a small lobby area, where a familiar face was waiting for you.

"Captain!" Karla smiles as you approach. "Good to see you arrive!"

"Well, it's part of the job, isn't it?" You say coolly.

"Of course, of course!" Karla nods with that innocent smile of hers. "Anyways, things are just kicking off. Amy's just washing up right now, so we'll be going in shortly!"

"Do we have to hover over her the whole time?" Lara frowns. "Sounds like a lot of trouble.

"Hm, well, I guess anywhere with a line of sight should be fine. This is a very secure area." Karla shrugs.

"And yet you made us go through all the trouble to come down here." You narrow your eyes.

"Just a precaution!" Karla assures you. You're not sure you believe her.

"All right, I'm done." Amy grumbles as she shuffles out of a nearby door, now dressed in what you assume is her idol garb. A pretty flashy and gaudy affair, in your opinion. "So how are we doing this?"

"We'll give you some space." You tell Amy. "But me and Lara will still be keeping an eye out. If you feel you're in trouble, just signal us."

"I'm sure I'll be the one telling you to come save someone from her." Karla chuckles.

"Hey!" Amy grunts, obviously not amused.

"Yeah, that's probably the more likely call!" Lara giggles.

"All right, first things first, let's go meet some potential sponsors!" Karla beams as she hooks an arm around Amy's and starts dragging her off.

"This is gonna suuuuuuuuuuck..." Amy groans as she's pulled away.

"Hm, so, where do you want to watch her from?" Lara asks.

Well, you could immediately spot a few places. You saw a small alcove off to the side that was pretty well hidden from the main crowd, but still afforded some good lines of sight. Pretty good if you wanted some privacy and to not be spotted right away.

There was a raised balcony area that held a sort of lounge, which give a good view of the whole party area, but did leave you a bit exposed.

Finally, you noticed that there was a full bar here. Looked like a good place to blow off some steam while you waited.

All the while, you could see the place slowly filling up with people from all sorts of walks of life, ranging from full business suits to just business casual wear. But one thing for sure was that these were all fairly powerful or influential people that you should be wary of.

"Let's set up in that alcove over there." You nod. "We can keep an eye on Amy from there without being spotted."

"Great!" Lara nods and the two of you make your way over, being careful to weave and dodge the other party guests.

Thankfully, nobody bothers either of you. You guess that a crowd like this wouldn't have much to do with a pair of lowly fighter pilots. Either way, you both manage to reach the alcove and set up, keeping an eye on Amy as Karla drags her from group to group. Amy puts on a painfully forced smile every time as Karla does all the talking, thankfully.

"Jeez, Karla's really putting her through the ringer." Lara sighs. "Guess that's what it's like to famous..."

You figure it would be a good idea to keep an eye on Amy. Never knew what would happen with her involved. Maybe a bloody nose or thrown chair. Kid had a lot of fight in her.

Lara quickly intuited how serious you were about this assignment and kept a vigilant eye as well.

As you watch on, you notice some odd movement. One of the caterers looked to be tailing Amy and Karla rather closely. A casual viewer may not have noticed anything odd, but you could tell that certain waiting just seemed to be walking a circle around Amy's position, keeping a perfect distance away from her.

However, every so often, he'd slip a little closer, and a little closer.

"You see him too, Cap?" Lara grunts.

"Yep." You nod.

"What's the call?" She asks, cracking her knuckles.

You key your comm, tapping into Karla's frequency.

"Hey, Karla, we've IDed a possible troublemaker tailing Amy. What do you want us to do about it?"

"Well, I'll leave that up to you." Karla whispers back cheerfully. You look up to see her give you a little wave. "But do try to keep it quiet, all right? We don't want to alarm the guests!"

"Come on, let's go ask this guy some 'questions.'" You say to Lara.

You and Lara then split up, each of you taking a wide circle around the suspicious person so that the both of you would be able to take him from both sides...

However, despite your best efforts to approach the waiter carefully and casually, it appears he's caught on to you, as he immediately shifts direction away from both you and Lara, making a beeline for the rear of the party space, where the rest of the catering has been set up.

Looks like he was trying to lose the both of you.

You quickly make the call to base security, giving a quick, rough description of the man. Security assures you that they'll look into it, but you're not really that confident that anything would come of it.

That's when you feel a tug on your sleeve, and you turn to see Amy standing there.

"Hey, how about we blow this shitty party and do something that's actually fun?" She whispers conspiratorially to you. "You look just as fucking bored here as I do."

"Where's Karla?" You ask warily.

"Managed to give her the slip." Amy shrugs. "So? What do you say?"

This was concerning. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to have Amy diverge from her schedule like this, but then again, indulging her seemed like it would boost her morale. And at the very least, it was a good sign that she was trying to pass her plan by you first instead of just disappearing on her own.

"Hey, Lara, you mind running interference for me and Amy?" You ask her. "I know I'm asking for a lot-"

"No worries, I've got it, Cap!" Lara winks. "Leave it to me and go do what you gotta do!"

"Thanks." You nod, impressed with how loyal Lara was to you. You then turn to Amy. "Well, I don't have any immediate ideas on where to go, but getting off this base will be a start."

"Any ideas, then?" Amy asks.
