+Intro+
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of the thousands of Imperial provinces that form the front line in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But the Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

the presence prevents her from answering. It might be good to use the blank to neutralise it?

apart from that, is there anything we know how the others reacted to her absence?

-the prophecy from the soothsayer says doom will befall us, roughly when a techmarine, taught by nestorium, will return from mars. We should inform regon that there he will return from there, given the tensions between them.

-we have not yet resolved how the factions [SoB, inq, Admech?, arbites?] reacted to our Kruun intel

Keep Larissa on Aspera Dominus I think.

How does she act when we ask her some questions? Is she hostile? Scared? Amicable?

And what does she say when we just ask her about the Ursuses and how she ended up in their court?

Three expected events:

358.M41 = Alderon Belladon will have finished researching Deidara Ursus' origins.
358.M41 = Spy Network Nobility (60%) will be formed.
358.M41 = Spy Network Tyranus (23%) [Noctis Focus +10] will be formed.

We should get the Nobility Spy Network immediately working on observing the Ursuses. Especially Deidara when she goes out to meet 'benefactors'. Who are these benefactors? And does the witch court do anything else apart from 'spend time' with the Marine Honour Guard?

Meanwhile the Tyranus Network should start looking into the special spook Larissa was using. Where is it coming from? Who buys it?

+Ambush on the edges of Kruun+
Please roll d100 (under 25%) to see if Lurker manages to warp out of ambush in time along with the Shadow. You can increase probability of warping out by +25% if you accept the breach of Gellar field upon entering the warp. How severe is the breach will be determined by another d100 roll.

+Interrogation of Larissa+
Using blank to weaken the grip of the presence within her head might potentially work, but it also will make her terribly uncomfortable, potentially even endangering her life if the thing within her is unhappy and as soon as the blank leaves her, Larissa will fall under the sway of the dark presence again. If you would like to try this, please do roll a d100 then.

Larissa generally seems to be a bit scared, but cooperative on most issues. She just wants to survive this.

>My lord, please forgive me, I cannot recall much - my memory is hazy when it comes to my early life. I strongly suspect, that I might have been mind wiped [Klementhos nods that there are some indications of this]. I clearly recall joining the Imperial court as one of the ladies in waiting to the Mistress Deidara Ursus. Me, along with the others have been taught in various arts, both those of... ahhh... I am sorry, I am not feeling well.

She suddenly bends over and starts vomiting. It seems that whatever's in her mind is stopping her from divulging too much information.

+Reaction of other's to Larissa's disappearance+
Xyptus reports that there is an official notice with Adeptus Arbites that she is missing, possibly kidnapped, an investigation is ongoing, but the Chapter is not among the suspects.

+Prophecy of the doom once techmarine returns+
Please phrase what exactly and how do you tell Regon. Also, what exactly do you tell him about the soothsayer? P.S. can you link to the prophecy post as well?

+Kruun intel+
I believe we have. If you are referring to the fact that Kruun now seems to be under control of the Styrian Triarchy or is at least strongly supported by it is taken with all the required gasps of astonishment and anger, but there's nothing anyone can really do apart from launching an invasion to retake it. Arbites obviously want it back, but they are not an army and their influence in Sector politics is nowhere close to being strong enough to demand an immediate action over this. Inquisition is not too concerned as the threat is not actively threatening and nothing of real value was lost, Admech is mostly neutral apart from symbolic gestures, Sisters of Battle are busy with greenskins and Dark Eldar, which are posing a clear and immediate threat to the Imperial shipping in the region, unlike Styrian navy, which was recently beaten by the Imperium.

Please select which one is a current priority: Deidara or Honour Guard as the target of espionage? Choosing both will decrease efficiency of the attempt to spy. Also, do you desire results as soon as possible or should it be safer, but more prolonged observation?

>Honour Guard
>Deidara Ursus
>Other

Method:

>Observation

Scale of operation:

Just tell Regon that Techmarine Tiberius has been studying Artisanstry on Mars for fifteen years. He's likely to be very orthodox-minded so he should probably just be sure not to say anything controversial around him, should they encounter one another.

Lurker along with Shadow warp out of the jaws of the enemy's well prepared ambush, escaping what would have most likely been a certain defeat. Both of the ships gain trait "Warp Runner", meaning that in the future they will have easier time escaping into the warp if situation would call for it and the Gamma squadron's Leadership value increases by +1. Congratulations! However the mystery of who your attacker were remains something to be solved... When the Imperial navy arrives to the location of the battle three standard Terran days later, they are already gone.

+Interrogation of Larissa+
She doesn't seem to be aware of the presence and whenever you touch the sensitive subject, she goes into come for hours or days, frustrating both you and Klementhos.
>Chapter Master, her mind has clearly been tampered with. I am afraid she is only going to deteriorate further if you will continue to force the issues which are blocked from her. Unless we want to risk sending in a Librarian to check her out from inside. And yes, it is very possible that this presence is also observing us in some fashion, or at least it has enough awareness not to let her talk to us. Final option, which I didn't want to bring up would be to mind-scan her using bio-chemical means to bring out her secrets to the surface. However I am afraid this would most likely lobotomise her.

+Prophecy of the doom once techmarine returns+
Regon replies:
>Thank you for your concern, friend. I truly appreciate the fact that you trust us even above some of your men, that is not something that is often seen among Space Marines. I am glad to see that you are rational and see when the loyalty of blood needs to be put aside.
>>

+Deidara Ursus+
Alderon Belladon comes to you with information that he managed to gather on Deidara.

///Dossier///
+Born: 211.M41, Templos
+Married: Yes, Larion Ursus, 285.M41
Deidara Ursus was born on the world of New Europa to a mid-ranking noble of the Hyperboros dynasty. It seems that she spent majority of her childhood there, until her branch of the dynasty was wiped out when she was a teenager in a tragic accident. Additional digging seems to mention a catastrophic shipwreck of a pleasure yacht, which it seems Deidara managed to escape. As no one really had any attachment to her within Hyperboros dynasty, she was used as a bargaining chip in inter-dynastic politics. She had a few different suitors, however all of them have stopped courting her because of various reasons, including one death, stock market collapse and at least a few scandals on behalf of her suitors. This streak of bad luck included two broken engagements. However suddenly after a few decades of trying she was married off to Larion Ursus, one of the heirs of the Ursus dynasty. This seems to have been her lucky day, because within 7 years other heirs have either died or left the Sector to pursue other paths on Terra and other Sectors. When suddenly Larion's uncle, Sector Governor, died in a hunting accident on Lemuria in 292.M41, he was the only real choice for the next governor. His older brother, Hermann Ursus, was returning from Terra to challenge the claim, but his ship was attacked by the Dark Eldar on the way to Deus and unfortunately he did not survive. However around the turn of the century Deidara became more and more withdrawn from the affairs of the high society, she knew that both her status and prestige have already been well established and she seems to have stopped caring what people gossip about her. She is a benefactor and founder of a few different charities and also founder of three different scholas, four fencing schools and 15 temples, but usually she runs her charities from a distance, seldom appearing in the public herself, rather leaving that to her daughter Katriona, who is more than happy to hog the spotlight. Deidara is said to be very beautiful, great fencer, good painter and that she owns her own ship that she uses to travel the far worlds of the Imperium to participate in hunts of various exotic xeno-creatures. In addition to this everyone says that she keeps Larion's balls deep in her pocket and can make him do anything she wants. Unfortunately very few of these facts come from reliable sources and a lot of them might be just rumours...

Establishing it openly will mean that your spies will not need to avoid Kronus' secret police and that their stay there will be legal and in case of discovery they will not need to destroy everything and run. On the other hand expanding the Realm might cost either Favour with High Lords of Terra or you might need to convince local authorities that they should invite you. What is your decision?

Keep it lowkey. Full deniability on the chapter's part. Ultimately the spies there should never ever be acting against Kronos' government anyway. So there should be no reason for them to be hunted.
