[Turn Notes.
About Expanded Cast.
Somewhere between days 4 and 5 it was decided that Expanded spells would have a phase delay - executing at the end of enemy phase

Some other mechanics are being explored as well involved with targetting tiles that cannot be seen.. more on this later. ]
>>
>>2001164
Ah! Shifting tides of aether!
>Does this apply to [Expanded Cast] only, or to all effects that grant a spell an AoE (Overflow, Shape Spell, Ring, etc.)?
>If all the things, is a method of [accelerated casting] an option for future study?
>Will this change affect the current turn, or be implemented at a specific time later?

OH well that's misprocess @ w@;; I got the two mixed up sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Added notes: Been observing other casters double stacking expand cast as well. For now this will remain unchanged. since its decrease in pot is ridiculous Apologies for that lapse in [Memory]

World Phase
>>
>>2001458
This is two turns now that my healing hasn't been shown. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it being lost in the drawing?
>>
>>2001582
I believe the automated processor isn't picking it up. can you link the actions ?
>>
>>2001625

Here.

Turn 6
>>1981143
This was a preemptive bot I agreed to, in this one the second action was processed, and may have been treated as using both actions due to trying to Last Rites on multiple corpses.

Turn 7
>>1985965
Last turns actions.
>>
>>2001458
I began act phase 4N 1W of where I'm shown here, with the intent of taking out that western column of moblins. My action: >>1985983

I'm fine with the current result as well, if it's troublesome to correct.
>>
>>2001641
I see. Bots ironically have the highest margin of error, being that they are of one player's actions for another unit. We'll keep a look out for bots when this mismatch occurs.
>>
>>2001694
Anything you'd like done to make bots stand out better?
>>
>>2001720
maybe they could be made as separate posts rather than as single posts?

Single posts is best. Processi tends to compile all actions of a post in a single block.

Whoops, sorry, late.

wait... so each action should get a single post? or all of them should be in a single post? (sorry but the second part of your sentence seems to contradict how I first typed it out, where 'single posts' referred to keeping them all in a single post rather than separate ones)

Ikawaru stows the vintage into one of the many folds of his haori. He would be fighting again all night, he could not be expected to do it sober. Already, the pleasant fog was starting to dissipate, his hands becoming uncertain as he uncorks the revival brew.

"Jieichou-sama!" Ikawaru helps the guard captain stand. "It is now midnight, the moblins are being driven back!" Ikawaru pauses as another explosion rocks the township. "What is [The Plan], Jieichou-sama?"

What sort of honourless bandit would you have me be, to leave my master to die? I will forgive you once.

There is one place safe from the iron rain, Jieichou! That is, right next to the cannon! Within sword's reach! Stay here and die, look! Even the Miko goes now!

Jun, Hachi! Both of you, take the Waykeep some place safer! The scholar, too, before they are both killed! I will see you again when the sun rises.

If we are still using the assumption that we are dealing with reagular moblins in terms of stats and that the cannons they have is the same as ours (>>1963748), they should have a dead zone of 3xPER which should be 9. That leave us with a 2*9+1 array, centered in the cannon, where they shouldn't be able to fire.

In the image, each layer of colour covers the supposed blind zone of each cannon of the same colour. There's a nice zone where the three overlap that should grant safety from the cannon fire for the team that's currently assalting them, but I would expect heavy enemy resistance there.

Also, if the team in the north needs some help healing, I'm setting up some runes in the south which should allow me to boost spells without running out of mana, but I'll need a good placed rune by Perovskia since I can only cast [Vitas][Arrow] or [Vitas][Ring]. A regular [Vitas][Ring] should be 33 pot, with each boost providing +7 to the cast :^)

I'm beginning to think our bestiary doesn't cover our enemies at the cannons. The central artillery position was able to strike beyond the wayhouse, a distance of 25, suggesting a minimum PER of 4. The remarkable fact that the northern group has not been struck once may be worth considering, though it's uncertain whether they are protected by a deadzone or enemy fixation on the wayhouse.

Also, the artillery can fire within 2xPER in addition to 3-6xPER. The deadzone would lie between the two ranges.

"Wulf-man, I've known family of yours. One fought a giant beast to the death without retreat, the other died in search of quarry among birdfolk and hollow men. Both were proud and strong, and never accepted what they had not taken themselves. Even so, I ask you to stand with the Roots for a time, and not alone. To be overrun by vermin is no great accomplishment, and makes a poor story to tell your successor. Best you make sure I don't meet him today."

"Should something worthier show its face, though, I think I'll race you to it."

----

Mizuno will almost certainly need extraction of some sort. Whether will entail further healing or a breeze is yet to be seen.

Longcoats, it's uncertain if time constraints will let you serve better at the artillery or at your guns, but know it's a possibility. Pero and Basil are also capable of operation.

If we take the artillery, we'd better block off entrances.

If anyone is able to strike at the hobgobs while they're between the ponds, target pairs that are NW/SE of each other. This best preserves the logjam of their movement through a chokepoint.

Frontliners in the south, jockey for a position that minimizes the impact of the initial moblin assault, but no more than 8 squares distant from Yorbas, who is your main fire support with a range of 10 before Expand casts. Hobgob move is 5. Their chain weapons do not have reach, while their guns have a range of at least 4.

S of Raedwulf is approximately the furthest Yorbas can move while staying in sight of current Arrays.

In a bit of an update towards this, and Luney participating in the conversation.

"if it helps, you don't have to directly fight them hand to hand, i'm sure that i can lend one of you my bow. While the other do what you may. Plus think of the rewards that can come with it. I know it may be a thankless job, but at least hear Harokem out. Plus if it helps, you use me as a bit of a signal even if i may be one of the small leaders, i will probably be the first running away and screaming while i'm at it."
*chuckles*
"Anyway, hear Harokem out, just stay for a bit and help us we can use any help that you can offer to us by staying. And if it helps, i'm sure there will be at least some glory that can come from defending a way house from a hoard of moblins."

----
I'm probably just talking to myself, or i'm with a biased opinion, so take mine with more than a bit of salt. So yeah...Take it how you may.

I'm a bit scared that Kail and moore are AFK and will be stay that way. If so that just cut off 2/5 of our current player melee fighters and more importantly the ones who can at least take quite a lot damage.

Also apologies for the mages who have to heal us over and over again...Please if you can keep healing us and I doubt i need to say anything on the massive group of moblins.

Another thing, we now know the amount of potential damage that the hobo goblins are able to dish out. Enough that if stationary and being able to group up they are able to deal enough damage they were able to knock out Kail, even with his beefy defence. So lets try not to let that happen, stay mobile and when fighting try to do a hit and run or run and hit and then run. Just try not to remain stationary unless you have a lot of defence, or you can just smash your way right through them.

The orc reaching our lines is a near-certainty. Don't spare it any attention if you can guarantee a kill on its more numerous follow-up threats instead, such as the gunners to its west.

Fika, I had to remind myself that you're at a window and therefore not as limited in LoS by the wall as might appear.

Yorbas is in range to move and ignite the nearest formation. Healing Kail is not a priority as long as he stands with a shield toward the horde.

Luney, a feed Kail a Green and then move a small distance into the wayhouse. You may be needed to pick Kail or Yorbas up again after the next artillery strike.

So, north objective: take the artillery. To that end, kill approaching enemies so that Yoko is unthreatened while wrangling the orc. Mizuno is likely lost, but might as well attempt an action.

Southern objective: destroy oncomers. To that end, fry the hobs climbing the root and advance the knights straight W, blocking W, attempting to draw attention from Raedwulf. We may lose another to artillery this turn.

And you were but a drunken sentry a day ago. Don't start putting on airs now while the going is good. More is at stake here than you realize, I intend to see it with my eyes - when a then nameless Guild withstands insurmountable odds this night.

On that note I do have a piece of insight " m'lord". The last rumored mention of armed Moblins was the [Pietbog Shore], home of Landraiding Pirates and sunken airships. That the black riders should pass through there is quite telling, Considering that it requires passage from the [Roots] to ascend to this plane.

In the future, try not to assume the heal values of the current phase in your status line as it makes it unreliable for auditing [better to keep it blank [??] or mirror the status of last phase ] doing either or both helps processing to update it /for/ you.

Also this action will be nixed because revisions are a no go in this game.

The other scholars pull magic from their books as well as trivia. Can you lend a hand with the same? Some more immediately useful insights if you can't, please: ranges of their firearms and how hard they bite, how deep you must cut and where to kill them in a single blow. That sort.

Why is this clan called the black riders? I do not remember any steeds, though much of last night is... hazy.

I thought that's how it always was, if you override, everything about that post is nixed and you write your turn as normal, including timing of actions.
Death timers make things difficult, providing an incentive for anyone who can heal to not have control over their characters.
I may just not allow botting of myself except under fast processing. If they die, they die.
I am starting to regret picking up healing options.

Re: Death Audit.
At the time of Mizuno's death two cannonball detonations were uncounted in the image. It's damage values were

8 , 23. This in conjunction to the visible damage values added to the Reeling Threshold.

Furthermore critical heals were 8 minutes shy of the declared death timer at 30 minutes of the turn being posted.

In skirmishes deaths occur frequently and it is productive to take lessons from those experiences. A majority of players die from solo confrontations where an enemy is allowed to stack damage on them in succession, for example. But there are many more ways, some less crafty and dignified.

Feel free to use the perks associated with your character's namesake and good luck on your next run. [/spoiler]

How does polished counter stance work? Is just brew a stack? There sounds like there's more to it.
>>
>>2015344

Smooth Brew: With one action, brew multiple potions using materials available AT THE TIME of casting. Example: If you have 10 xtals and 3 spirits one can only realistically make 3 potions with Multibrew.

Alternatively one could spend a Multibrew ACT to make 7 more spirits and THEN Multibrew a stack of 10.

Smooth Serve: Lastly when serving or administering potions one's range to do so can range as far as their throwing range first and whatever polished surfaces connect them to their intended target secondly. As this works with nancy one can administer a potion at long range so long as the intended recipient is adjacent to a valid path.
Smooth surfaces include: Stone paths in the rain. Tabletops, Metal surfaces, Ice, Canals

Unlike Smooth Brew however, Smooth Serve can only serve drinks up to the Brewler's Level.

It should be noted that once the Brewler moves this entire thing gets shut down.

Looking at your results previous phase, it looks like you were able to cut one tile of brambles before being caught by a second you passed. Now that you mention it, it seems to me that your defenses are in fact 12/8/4. As handheld equipment, the staff grants +defx to the front.
>>
>>2018602
My armor seems to provided a +1 DEF.(On top of my presumed base 1Defx) My weapon listed +x1 Defx. Wouldn't that leave me with (2*RES+1)/(RES+1)? Or is there an additional bonus I don't know about? Other caster items seem to be like this, no casters start with a front defense.

The Naginata did not add a +1 Defx at all looking at the starter stat block. (Which I have mentioned is wrong in other areas, so it is possible that it should.)
>>
>>2018645
That's right. I misread the armor stats as as +defx. Flat +def is unusual to see. Your defense is 9/5, 3 rear. Possible naginata defense I wouldn't know at all how to speak to.

That is the kind of gameplay knowledge I am not allowing myself to give out when players make decisions on life or death situations or even in mundane cases.

If/and/or actions are not exactly legal either. In its place is a die
roll. It did not favor restraint in this case. Nevertheless the final act was significant and the concept of dying to a single thorn has a poetic tinge.

Act Phase
. Dawn has broke. And darkness gave way to light as the dust settled from the east with cavalry in tow. Like clockwork, the artillery had ceased but we knew it for a farce. But nevertheless the reprieve weighed heavy on our backs. And when all were accounted for - we found but one of our own had ceased to move in the blood thirsty bramble of the red woods. For now it would seem, it acted to bar our paths from the enemy - and the enemy from us.

Hermit: And so it was writ that another Mohommad would be taken from us in quick and furious fashion. Still my heart, has dawn broke so soon ?"

I won't complain further though the fact that vital game mechanics are being deliberately obscured isn't the best news I've heard from a GM. Knowing the rules is kind of required to play well.

As far as my death goes, may I work the Renown system a little and have Nozumi Mohhomad show up next battle as a duplicate of my stats upon death or shall she start off as level 1?

You may also trust that the GM will work against you in every situation. I am your enemy. Dice decide your fate in a lot of edge cases and Your real allies are your teammates. My only mistake here was not acknowledging your question with a non-response.

For 1 renown you get a duplicate with the same level and stats as your previous character. Mizuno's belonging may make their way to the next of kin through the mailing system. You have earned it at the conclusion of this mission.

Since the next Map will feature a battle in HighWard distances and travel time will have to be taken into account for airborne couriers.

High Ward will be far harder a battle than this one will be and I am no longer in the mood for second chances. Good luck.

"Agreed, there a lot more equipped than us and most importantly fresh for battle unlike us, and I'm sure i can say for more than most of us. A nice bath or simply a nights res-...a nap should do good for us ...Now i wonder what they say about revival sake is true..."
>>
In other notes, and also to pass the time for a minute while were waiting for Harokems response i would like to try to answer ryozos question or at least explain the healer situation during this map.

So to explain lightly or to explain it, was that my guess was that we we're suffering what I would like to call a skill shortage. Or in other terms, we were missing someone with the skill that we needed for the situation. And in this situation noone had any [revive] spells such as [Kaesu] or had the recipie for [revival sake] the second i hope to amend by buying it for Basil. And by also hoping that one of you also gain Kaesu, which allows us to revive our [dead] comrades if they aren't spirited away to the next world or there body is destroyed....

So without them, we are left panicking and make hasty decisions without your compliance again I apologize for letting this to even happen. And I hope that in future battles we can work in harmony and if a casualty were to happen we can rely on either you the shrine maidens to revive them on your own accord or we can brew a stock of revival sakes, to be put in the for all bag so that the people who possess them can quickly or at least have the ability to on there own revive people who have fallen in the line of battle..

Again I apologize, with this battle we were panicking and none was able to revive the dead once they hit past the death time, so we botted people who could heal and tried to save anyone that well was dying once act phase hit.

Once more for an annoying time I apologize for botting you and taking away your enjoyment of this game....

You captured an orc. With some rope and spare manpower you can take it with you and sell it somewhere or do unto it the mercy it gave others. Orcs will no doubt try anything to escape, especially when they start to get tired and hungry. From what we have learned the monandes are a mixed family race so that means non humans can join them so yay! And also my guess is you can just pay the straight 75 zenny fund and quickly name yourself a monandes keep in mind though. There can only be one...But im sure you know that.

So yeah, if you haven't already paid the 75 or 150 zenny toll, go do that and just name yourself one. It should be simple like that.

Also Rabbit needs to go learn how to population growth food curve calculations, for if the fields of Hachibana are burnt by the Black Riders from elsewhere, we may all starve soon-soon.

Murder-killing does not pay the bloodprice it used to, in days before monsters lurked the land in such large numbers.
>>

You only starve if you don't know about mother Dold's hearty preserves, Jars upon jars of vinegar goodness meant to keep you trough the winter, or a monster attack, on a dime.

I grew up on this stuff! We can only hope that the other teams are doing well, and then we could swoop back in for a tiny hint of moblin genocide. But oh dear me, what am I saying, genocide is such a harsh word for a race that should be reduced to ash and removed from history. The hard way. :)

In this battle, range and fire power dominated the field, with consistent artillery and near endless swarms it was certain that the moblins would have overtaken the position overtime had the group not pushed an offensive front.

First, the good news.
A successful northern push allowed us to take one of their cannons as well as push back a horde that was forming. A southern defensive bloc was also a good counter balance to avoid being overstretched. Nevertheless stress did occur on both lines.

The Field as you knew it was one of the wider areas we had to deal with, in fact its about 3 times the size of our township in Dunndirk. And this only counts the areas we discovered. Needless to say this was a field that needed mobility and dare I say it , mounted cavalry of some sort. Though that is not well within our power. On maps like these its best to keep your lines held and send only your sturdier effective units forward as a vanguard to ensure safety for those at the back. Mizuno did this effectively however paid a steep price for it. Perhaps if he had a partner such an endeavor would have seen us back a friend.

The enemy relied solely on artillery and numbers that served as a deadly distraction. In tactical circles we call this the [Goblin Paradox] in which a goblin problem can be tended to easily in fact too easily with little to no reward for one's effort, but if left alone will become an unmanageable problem due to the damage they cause, forcing adventurers to either risk going forward to take a chance or to steadily move forward while risking a lengthy build up of forces. While goblins excel at attack, they are in fact terrible at dealing with counterattacks themselves.

The Artillery also caused greater problems in which the 2nd choice was not only untenable but worked in their favor. While it was not predictable where it would strike next it was preventable with a consistent net of healers and perhaps a countermeasure that made missiles fall short from their target or avoid critical areas altogether. In times like these its better to seek cover indoors or under foliage.

Putting all this data together it would have probably been possible to orchestrate an offensive push that would have forced the artillery to change targets or continue barraging their current one. Another daring approach would have been to burn the tall grass to draw them out whilst providing smoke cover, however it would have risked a yield of crops.

In the future we can probably benefit from detaching independent parties to scout ahead or become effective offensive heads while the main body holds down a point of interest as necessary.

And as Luney pointed out, we were in dire need of revival skills as some deaths really did happen. It's also possible that more moblins will come at us armed with gunpowder. It is highly likely that we will meet them further in the town fortified with cannons and guns so be ready for that.
Any other questions ?

A wanderer's drive let him cut forth where others would not go,
A howling wind over the field that laid the enemy low.
Who at the end stood bathed in fire, threw wide the gates of death,
And would have swallowed all but laughed too soon with devil's breath.

>Hand over Mizuno's things

Seems in line with what was predicted in the exercises I went through with van Ludow.

So, everyone, as keenly felt as our losses may be, let it be known that we made the right moves, and what lessened their effectiveness came down to matters of execution. Elspeth's death by excessive potency was preventable, my overestimation of The Knee delayed the destruction of the northern relay by two turns, and Kail's precarious situation diverted Yorbas for too long. Preventing any one of these would have permitted us more actions for taking the field and greater success in mitigating the artillery threat.

If nothing else, people, know these things:
>Dying is a waste of your time and others'. Kill things before it happens.
>HP is made to go down, so let it. Until you're dying, it's your timer to make a difference.
>Ensure your kills. Coordinate with Shrine Keepers. Blessed Strike /after/ your action post will only Bless your Overwatches.

What happened when someone tried to run away from the life of the fore runners? Or anything around that regard. Was it possible to even retire?
Or was it merely just to pick up a weapon and fight and fight and fight until the last of time?
I wonder about my ancestors and i would like to know if his cowardice was towards something greater than himself that he knew he could not face or simply that he was part of major section of many civilians faced with conscription and forced with a weapon in there hands to try to be a hero.

And told that maybe if he fought hard enough and if he was lucky enough that he could find a way to do something else.
I don't really know, my thoughts lead me to think the worst from what i have seen of the book or at least when i took a peak at it.
Was it really an endless cycle of war with the fore runners or whatever they are called?
If so how old were many of them? Were they young? Were they old? Many of them were foolhardy and brave but what about the ones that weren't? The ones that wanted to run away tears in there eyes and a heavy heart.
Or is it like many others, and did whatever this book heralds simply seems to be something that cared not for young or old or brave or coward.
Or maybe i'm just becoming obsessed, after all history only dares to remember the tales of the brave fool. And not of the fearful coward.

A triumph ,a war won in a wasted land. Here the singular will to fight and survive was instinctual and perhaps grimly so. For their enemy was possessed of the same appetites , for their bodies, their dead, and even the bodies of their own continuously feeding ,feeding back to the earth.

And yet for all things this was natural. It was we, a race built on conquering that were seen as a blight in this side of the stars and it was decreed that the higher powers there would see us out. How long this dreadful conflict would last for even now, at the edges of space, the echoes of its conflict were borne witness as if newly declared. Hark ye similarities in their weapons ? Their dress ? Think ye a descendant ? Perhaps. The tree would have, at one point visited all things especially any life that sought it.

>>
Brewler still feels like it takes too long to get anything of value done. You need to spend an act to move somewhere to gather resources, spend another act to loot. distill might cost an act at that. spend an act to brew a bunch of spirits. spend another act to get some potions running. If you take any damage that delays something that's going to take at least 3 turns and by then things need to be done. Only way to avoid that pitfall is to have a good supply of stuff ready, but who would do that when you're better off making more money? All the while magis and SM's of similar level can out heal, out damage, and out utility you the whole while. Fire brandies and Earth draughts are the best buff in the game though. Mizuno wouldn't have been able to cut that highway of a path if he didn't have that extra boost.

Smaller parties are definitely a step in the right direction although large maps have their own charm.
>>
>>2033640
I would suggest picking up the Two Handle style instead of Polished Counter as that was designed for macro economy team play and support as opposed to action economy on the fly. Two handle simply converts all brewler actions to halves so you can perform them in pairs.

You do not seem lilke the type to play towards a 3 to 4 turn strategy that Polished Counter was made for. And currently loot and scoot builds dont exist for Brewlers at the current, so no matter what some team play is needed. Prep tools are coming.

Personally I adore the whole renown system and it giving you a second chance ie: giving mizuno his "char back". Although i am still very curious about what the Renown system does.

Also it helps that everyone can at least take a hit or two, so that is very helpful other than my increasing paranoia with healing i would say okay things are okay in that regard.

Although i do have a very real question, i was just wondering if Jaeger was meant as a melee class or a ranged class, it seems that with the level 5(?) skills jaeger gains it quickly shifts towards a ranged view.
Were ranged jaegers meant to learn from observe mostly? Or was it not meant as that at all??
Another would be the "botting" of shrine maidens or the "suggestion" that they heal the nearest dude with the lowest hp. I do feel slightly concerned about that, hopefully we can gain a skill that can enable anyone that is not a mage to at least /stabilize/ the poor sod that threw himself at the enemy and came out in meat shreds.
Other than that, I do love that things are much smaller and less choatic unlike floors where everything was a pawn. And your usefulness was judged in turns, i adore that you can still be effective even at level 1 although not as specialized as a higher level.

>Summarization: Question: Were jaegers meant as a ranged class at all? If so anyway you can guide me on that? Also will we gain anyway for a non shrine maiden or a lore keeper to learn a way to stabalize people so they can be dragged out of combat? Or prevent them from dying??? Or will the second be something that you have to acquire from time or a custom way? Ie: "donating" the shrine maidens a way to find out basic medicine or asking the frog and begging him later.
>>
>>2033763
On Jaegers:
Currently they have two play styles that interact /diagonally/ from each other.
A melee speed dps that is meant for taking out stragglers , mobs or tying up bosses. They also wander about on their own trapping the field and generally dominating in controlling any area uninhabited by enemies. Stealth is their foremost friend and picking fights shouldn't be their priority unless their traps or a second party member has come into play.

YOU MUST NEVER PICK UP AGGRO WITH THEM.

As a mobility class they are meant for getting to places others cannot, hunting takes preparation as well as a plan.

Ranged Jaegers emphasize observation and support moreso. And with proper combinations may field as much damage as longcoats. However their power is in their ranged control, traps, and ability to poke and prod alongside others. You cannot feasibly hope to get into a winning fight with a jaeger solo until you've come up with a decent kill plan, or picked up one or two monster abilities which is only possible for long exposure maps or fighting alongside party members.

And lastly, NEVER PICK UP AGGRO with them.

As a ranged / utility class they can perform just about anything else with traps, ropes , and poisons. All these tools serve to aide in taking down an enemy stronger than they and so they must operate as if any monster is lethal.

How you go about is up to you but to play a jaeger effectively it requires deep and sobering understanding of the enemy, stats, the field, and what debuffs do. As a class it might play a little too advanced. But as a reward it can hope to build up a library of monster skills like Sonic Wing from Harpies or Cranydash from Saurians.

Much thanks for this game. Quite fun, first off. I know I'll be watching the High Ward folks for a jealous week or so.

Really digging Longcoat design, or what I perceive of it. Middling in toughness and damage output compared to other tank/damage classes, but somewhat able to briefly stand in for either at need, being mobile and mostly setup-independent. The key to being more than an inferior tank or blaster, depending on the gun, is to use flexibility or extreme range to streamline team actions. That kind of playstyle really appeals to me, and Fear and Aide promise to open its possibilities further.

Battles overall play quite exactingly. Even the toughest units are quite fragile. Fights start at 2-turn deadly and only get deadlier. It's a feel I enjoy.

I've had a number of questions, but these are the ones I recall.
Is the Gunhammer 1 or 2handed, and is it getting an update since the [Armed and Moderately Dangerous] patch?
I recall the Arc Loader can be given a single load with a tap. Is this ability allowed with other guns, or is it tied to *Launch Item?
Is *Ammo Pockets a Longcoat class arte, or is it tied to the Industrial Longcoat?
Iron Mill uses unusual terminology to describe its cost: "4SP needed". Does that mean it's available as long as you have SP remaining, similar to Kyou Kai, or does it simply cost 4SP?

How does the Draw Out II upgrade work? All that is on the sheet is the name Iaijutsu.
>>
>>2033882
=About Iaijutsu=
As rank II draw out skill at level 4 or Above;
Iaijutsu allows one to draw out not only the hidden power from from a weapon but also its [Spirit] allowing one to perform supernatural feats based on its previous wielder. Usually, the "previous" wielder is the one who died clutching the weapon to the very end and thus many a "Sword Collector" go about finding these post contemporary relics as a means to build their repertoir for cursed power.

However while this has its potential for harm, it was originally meant for lasting Samurai lines to pass down their weapon to their next of kin so as to distill their power to the next generation. All Iaijutsus require SP to draw out, and each one is different depending on weapon. A virgin sword typically develops a spirit all on its own and replicas of it tend to share the same type of "phenomenon"

You may attune to one such blade every thread upon learning this. But in the fires of battle its possible for a miraculous amount of bonds to be formed.

I recall the Arc Loader can be given a single load with a tap. Is this ability allowed with other guns, or is it tied to *Launch Item? It's a function of Launch Item. Learn it to be able to "launch" single small items.

Is *Ammo Pockets a Longcoat class arte, or is it tied to the Industrial Longcoat? This should be a function of its class but may be clarified in later equipment loadouts.

Iron Mill uses unusual terminology to describe its cost: "4SP needed". Does that mean it's available as long as you have SP remaining, similar to Kyou Kai, or does it simply cost 4SP?

How exactly does "sub classing" work? Apart from spending a merit and essentially getting a level 1 skill along with the get from it is there anything else to it? Was just wondering for the sake of wondering.

I'm really enjoying the game, both as a tactical game and as general experience. The missions I have played gave me the feeling that their difficult was ramping up as time went on, but I also got the feeling that they were "fair" to the players and that we always got a way out of it. I also like the leveling system and the skills, since it allows one (at least in magi case) to have several tools to use even at early levels (you get expand and boost, then with insight+merit you could get a subclass and metamagics, which really open up your posibilities). Could you share some thoughts about this?

The smaller parties where a good decision, I believe. I would like to see a big map with the whole team from time to time, although I understand that dealing with 30 people can be very time consuming.

What are your plans for the future of the game (inmediate future or not)? :^)

>and mistakes from yours truly
This thread contained a fair bit of dialogue regarding misprocessing and mistaken player acts. Which worried me, because some of it came across like we were arguing. Arguing with your gm is never good. So, with that in mind, what are the prefered methods of handling player-error and processor-error?

>What do you think of [World Tree]
I like it! Our challenges have been, well, challenging, but also not impossible. A hard balance to find, especially in a gm-vs-player philosophy game. Also, most of the jobs shine vertically and horizontally. Granted, some synergize better than others, but overall, any option is valid, which is neat.
I am concerned about updates and expansions leaving some skills/jobs by the wayside or improving them by leaps, but it hasn't been a real issue yet.

>...going in regards to fractured participation due to smaller but well paced missions ?
This...
I have split feelings on this.
The good: Reduced player-count (and mapsize?) eases the load on your end. We like a less-overworked Scholar.
Swifter missions mean faster progression, both in story and for characters. Gotta have more.
With good planning and communication, busy schedules can be fit to appropriate missions. (We can dream, right?)
The not-good: 'Benched' players. That's a three-fold issue. First, people get bored, and so lose interest and cease playing. That's bad for us. Second, people might end up getting (or feeling like they are getting) benched more than their fair share. Or not-benched, leading to burnout. Oof. And third, lack of voice. Forexample; events in the Highward might lead to changes in the philosophy or direction of [Yggdra's Roots]. Being unable to truly weigh in on those potential issues stymies me a bit.

In case of error I feel that these policies are usually what we adopt.
> If something writ in the image its usually hard to reverse, especially when a whole turn's worth of events potentially revolved around it. In the event that you feel that this occured in error it is always possible to negotiate this forward than backward. A dead character has a better chance of getting renown through a subjective act of sacrifice than simply breaking a hard spoken rule.
> If some minor error occured in action phase, you have during world phase for myself and my other processors to catch it. If we dont and the error is minor to work around, you may be given leave to "pretend" different events transpired. However coordination with your teammates after the fact is your responsibility. And remember, anything write in Green Arrow is as good as reality.

> When finding criticisms in the game's design the best way to resolve them is in general threads or between maps where patches maybe implemented. Its possible to identify problems within game to be resolved later but unless its a critical "bug" the game proceeds as designed until a resolution is found.
Processing must also impress the point that while player enjoyment is important it isn't the prime objective, the game's core and inner spirit is and the GM reserves the right to preserve and leave it intangible indefinitely. Players engage skirmishes as an act of trust, if they do not find that here, they can just as easily opt out.

My typical policy on rulings is quite serious. Being that I have to adhere to even a single a point of difference with little room for interperetation. It also comes with the added characteristic of determining life and death for many players. This game is proceeding so far on the fact that the math is quite robust and that players as a result get a lot of "room" to make mistakes, take a hit but do damage themselves. There are parts about this game that can be juggled with flamboyant RP while keeping to the internalized number systems as if they were an everyday science.

In game design college where us wooden machine men are carved out into steel marble mazes, we were taught that a game is made up of two meaningful experiences.
-Making Decisions.
-Suffering. [consequences]
and a third... yeah i lied, - Distillation.

I believe a game is a sum of balances and acts performed by both an actor and an opposing party in whatever machination you can design. Choices can only be made meaningful by how diverse and colorful they are in the world and the world lends to the weight of those actions even more. But the most important aspect I feel is taking all that and simplifying it down to one
small
image.

Skirmishes were balanced around the fact that in a lot of games,[wargames especially] the overton window for players ranged around [Inconvenient and time consuming] to [Inevitably World Saving]. Looked at in that way- the consequences for participating in any space never looked past the horrors of a "mistake" or worked through righting a wrong. Which I feel has been a missing lesson in a lot of games and [less so stories] where real difference had to be enacted and a massive opposition force awaited.

And so it is no surprise that the first skirmish had one assume the role of a 1hp 3mov, 2 act marine with a 50% chance of hitting their mark and needed a second or 5th squadmate to reproduce the same result in order to score one kill. Imagine then, the response to an experience where real effort was demanded from the opposition and the actor and how indelibly true surviving much less winning a battle felt.

Indeed that feeling may have changed but design philosophies and aesthetic grows too and I feel that it's not always too late to return to those wastes where our friends were buried. But that would be the last thing they would have wanted. Not after we have gotten so far.

Another few questions.
>Is there some final reliable source on when advanced skills become available for whom? Monster Study and now Iaijutsu have been confirmed as lvl 4-available, as opposed to other classes, who we've come to understand can take advanced skills as early as lvl 5. I disagree with the current numbering convention on chargen because it has consistently misled fresh rank 4s, but any system is fine as long as it's consistent.
>Deep Strike: Applicable to piercing weapons like bows or guns? Spears only? Ask Sayaki instead?
>>
>>2033720
With the latest mission I could have both styles and have maxed out Brewlers completely.

I'll just keep in mind I need a cache of xtals to work immediately.

On another note I like the insight system. Being able to learn other skills opens up options not normally obtainable giving the classes more play.

With that said could an item condition like [Stuff] be learned with insight?
>>
>>2035481
Lately I've been wanting to create "abilities" or "features" that were specific to an item due to its design. The fish balls were one such item, a gun specificifically designed to fire at extremely long range another. But it's possible that one could argue the worth of an insight to be able to transcend such microbalances for the ease of progression and to make a variety of builds that this game can always accommodate

[quote]To buy a Level 4 Skill, one must attain level 4 first by spending 4 Insight into ranks and abilities. Therefore, the Level 4 ability will be your 5th Ability bought with Insight. [/quote]

It's deceptive but those level "4s" are level 5s. An image will reflect the early learners because I get the feeling they did not update like they were supposed to. Honest response.

If you can dig up documentation of older ruling I'd like to examine it and patch it sooner than later.
>>
>>2035654
Oh, the ruling's always been the same, just not obvious to first-timers looking at chargen.

Good that the early learners will be updated.
>>
>>2035524
If you can [Stuff] potions it would make brewlers very potent.

Following current rules it should only affect healing potions and maybe letting you nancy toss nukes or mountains via fire brandy and earth draught.

I could wait on two hand style if that's doable.
>>
>>2035730
As an action operation. "Stuff" only applies at 1 reach, with food potables. So the amount of useable things dwindle. On the other hand some Secret Menu skills might have what you seek.
>>
>>2033571
Just between the two of us (and all the internet, at large). I've enjoyed the last years of murdering. You do good stuff.

I'd like to point out that Dragon is generally the "go into places isolated and alone" team. The one sent ahead of others or into places that it needs to operate alone in.

Thus, we fill the whole 'scouting duty' deal, and due to our isolation from the rest of the group as a general rule, we need all the forewarning we can get. If I'm not the person with the highest vision in Dragon then it should go to either them, or to another lone wolf style group or character.

Anyway, the reason I linked Errant_Scholar. How long would it take to arrive if it was sent to Highward? (From the first turn of the highward map?)
>>
>>2034044
Thanks for the answer! And now that we're going with the small team missions, do you have in mind something to do for the people who are resting? I don't know, something that allows them to get something done but at the same time isn't time consuming for you? Just curious! :^)
>>
>>2037203
The Brewler [Secret Menu] is a set of Brewler kept secrets typically in the form of their hidden some are recipes. Others are Secret Artes. While others still are mailing addresses to coveted Bards.
>>
>>2037794
ah okay. So those are only accessible during town thread or could I presumably talk to the wayhouse brewler right now that we helped keep alive?
>>
>>2037976
Yes any named wayhouse typically will. Usually its the Housemaster that carries it less so the house itself. So seek out those masters :v
>>
>>2037246
Its utility to Dragon is a fair point, though it's not if I meant to keep it from you. "Scouting" was perhaps too specific a term for my broader intent to point out that the totem's best value is produced when vision redundancy is minimized. Depending on the expected movements of those around the user, this may or may not entail giving it to the person with the highest vision already. Something to calculate.
>>
>>2038187
The Brewler had [Mugging] as a skill would that be in the secret menu, and if so what would it do? I might take it.
>>
>>2038451
Pretty sure Plenary Mugging was a joke at the expense of all involved as a drunkard looted a brewmaster, and not a skill.
>>
>>2038451
That was the new RO checking through an unconcious Barkeep. It was called plenary mugging because had they gone through with it it would have incurred criminal charges later in the meta game.
