Last time on Innerworld, a neutral party left after telling a shocking story, local tensions began to rise, and strange seafarers to the east came into military conflict with the neighboring state of Reptia.

Magic Bin, and Magic Mechanics, are a WIP, so apologies if anything is off.
Reptia says they have taken back the island they were in conflict over with the foreigners, and thus have secured control once more over their lands. However, their naval supremacy may not last for long as our own ships begin to improve in quality if not size as effort is put into drawing up plans for more constructions of that type. Another 15 are projected to be completed by the end of the decade, and all rams for the current fleet have been fitted and/or added. In other news, it seems that many of the volcanoes have gone dormant or died entirely, and with the rainfall provided by Vade to start the grasslands up once more, small bodies of water have formed on their tops. Lar has already made use of one.

A few notes:

- Map is to the right.

- Personal projects are now introduced! With this, you can roll for individual characters and receive a result from me if it's something you think deserves officiating from my end. This alleviates pressure via discord and enables players to proceed with their interactions.

- The tyrant has an extra faction project, one that utilizes those taxes he is able to use.

- Lastly, another new mechanic, or an addition, rather; from this year, 287, onwards, bonuses to the nation of Ier will be given. These will be a +2 for every 5 projects completed, and subject to further change if needed. Adding it to the pastebin now.

Not poisoning goes well, but the attention to detail in that way overlooks some other things as vine seeds are mixed in with that which you're looking at. Slowly but surely, the infestation has grown.

Resources have been funneled into the construction of an aqueduct; one not difficult because of the actual construction process itself, but rather the fact that the powerful flow of the river as it heads out to sea has dragged more than one to their deaths over the years. Still, it is done.

Put these into effect

The Enforcers-These folk will be chosen to help maintain law and order within the Tyranny. They will draw on all citizens of the Tyranny that wish to join for members. The first chief enforcer will be of the Capan clan and chosen by the tyrant after the Chief enforcer steps down, passes away, or is incapable at the time.

Settlement of disputes-the feuding parties are brought before the concord members who have the least bias in the matter. The concord will attempt to find a solution that settles the issue. If a resolution can not be met and the two parties engage in reckless or violent behavior with will be barred from the concord if they are members of it and participating in the tyranny government for 2-5 years. If the issue can not be resolved and no fighting happens then there will be not be punishment and the parties involved will be encouraged to resolve their dispute outside of the concord. If tensions heat back up then said parties will be brought before the concord again.

The concept of good and evil is quite similar to that of night and day he thought, or perhaps the Green and the Grey back before the transformation of the land. Starting to talk to friends it seemed that they too had had similar ideas; things such as fire brought about death and destruction while water was a life giver. The earth was constant, and the air fickle. This perhaps would most alter, however, how man and woman viewed each other. The balance had always existed after all; why wouldn’t it continue on? Why shouldn’t it?

In other news, recent trade deals along with the need for copper have further integrated Reptia’s trading into our own.

Lar in his old with his mind and body slowly fading has all but withdrawn into his forge doing little beyond perfecting his craft, no longer did he care for stronger weapons or armor he looked only at drawing beauty out from the metal.

With his father’s mind and body slowly failing Chad Khazirsson would set about improving upon the settlement of Ful’Cana. Whilst his father had seen nothing but profit from the area Chad had spent a large amount of time with his uncle Tem and truly saw great majesty in the area.

Built into the mountainside using picks and the latest architecture a fort is made named “Ierca”. Built with large storerooms, channels connecting it to the lake and room to house many villagers should the area be menaced allowing Ierans to retreat to safety in the mountain hold. The smiths of Thera would have a large space within the walls allowing for the forging of weapons, repairs and the smelting of ore from the surrounding area.

As you reach the volcano top in the great lake of Ful’Cana a relaxing view can be seen of the whole Ier river delta. Constructed with the utmost care the Loris Baths are welcome to all who which to relax in the Volcanite heated pools and enjoy the best luxuries Ier has to offer. It even has employment offerings to downtrodden women in the need money to help out men in need of release.

The fort is built, and it is lavish; but that is to be expected. What was not expected was the last volcanic activity that would be seen in some time. The screaming began as the sky began to dim. Something was happening... an eruption? No, a quake. The last tremors of whatever had haunted this land shook the earth just so to cause a landslide. The fortress slid, and so too did the people. Skidmarks of men left bloodstains too long for someone to live through on the side. And this, in turn, forced gas out through the side of the volcano. A hidden pocket was not concentrated enough to kill those present quickly. No, instead, those unlucky enough to escape remained addled fools for the rest of their lives, and those who didn't had the life forced out of them by the cloud of noxious toxins.

It was not over. Not for one man at least. Rushing to the aid of his family member, Tem tried to save Chad from the worst of the fumes, and he partially succeeded. His fate would not be so lucky. Stepping on a dead patch of grass that in and of itself should have served as a warning, he plunged into an underground cavern; a chamber of lava not detectable by most. What happened to him, is a mystery, but Chad can attest to what he saw. A figure, out of the dark, grabbed his uncle from certain death, and strode towards the volcano. The figures disappeared not long after they reached the base.

Out of those who survived, a mere 12, 7 lasted til the next year. Of those, 4 went mad due to the gas. One lay rotting. The other two, Chad and another ghoul, were forced with the unfortunate task of living the day over and over in their heads permanently.

Further fortifications are built on top of those already built by the Falzer clan, an effort that seems to oddly ignore the destruction near Ful’cana and any rebuilding there. In other news, the giants are making attempts to connect their territories.

The summer swiftly approaches, and thus, the period of second lowest rainfall. In recent years, this has been alleviated with the use of the irrigation projects along with the new aqueduct, but it is still in a sense a stress test for the latter. This is a lesser drain on resources compared to the rebuilding of course, which has taken priority. In trade news, we have been receiving products from the Isarnites, who are apparently located near the giants, somewhere further north. Also of note is the fact that Reptia is buying unsustainably large amounts of bronze for naval projects. It’s not quite clear what their plan is. Word is that even the southern gnolls have been seen sending out boats from the islands taken from Ier...

Lef’s last journey was an eventful one. Reaching Upper Lopen, he found his way to the third and most major settlement of the giants, Western Lopen. The region is covered in thick trees that remind him very much of the jungle but not the same at all; this place, while not dry, has completely different wildlife. The town itself is at the edge of it, constructed wooden huts being covered in mud for the purposes of insulation on colder nights. It is full of life, and according to the word of the people there, was untouched even by Vade. Furthermore, they warn him to go by ways of the flooded grasslands that lay out to the west of the forest. He does so of course, but sees stone ruins along the way. Incredibly large stones lie in a heap, too large to be carried, even for giants. Ringed by grassland, the navigator wonders just what this is. From afar it looked like it is dotted by flowers, but closer up it becomes apparent that these are bones. Their shape seems… deformed. A stiff breeze grants enough of a reason to leave the area quickly.

The weather grows somewhat colder as you approach the north, but the effects of Vade’s work becomes apparent. Along the coast especially, crumbling houses of stone serve as a reminder to the civilization the mages you met decades ago stemmed from. Grabbing a few souvenirs, you are convinced to turn back only once you see figures in the distance. Ghouls, but they seem… off. This is confirmed by two who had obviously not noticed each other’s presence; once one had, they immediately began to attack the other. In fact, this happens again and again. While some may call Ier savage, you think that these ones are true barbarians.
>>
Music finally becomes popularized in some sense; whilst those in Reptia mainly use drums made of flayed skin, string, and wood, the types beginning to be developed in Ier are of a different style altogether. Most common is the bone flute in fact—the strong bones of ghouls make for a sturdy instrument that produce a lower sound than one would expect from such an instrument. Metal reproductions produce a much higher pitch.

Slightly longer than the traditional blade, the craft is made almost entirely of bronze. Curved in the middle very slightly, it looks all the world as an eel bitten onto some form of hook. But of course, it isn’t; the simple yet elegant 5 pronged sword is called “Isagaer, the Blade of Tyrants.” Simple, stating its purpose; a bit like Lar Hearteater himself.

As for the Reptian veterans, they are efficient in their teachings. It is clear that they have the experience they claim to have, and with that comes news that hadn’t reached us for whatever reason. Reptia is involved in a conflict across the seas, having allied with another group of ghouls against some primitive giant tribes elsewhere in order to gain a foothold and establish colonies on foreign shores. These veterans appear to have had a role in the fighting, and each bears the marks to show it.

As the year changed, Lar felt his body drained by the exertion of years of fighting and more of forging. He had always held something in his hand, and it felt empty without either hammer or blade. Feeling his eyes dip, he reached out for something to hold and met his wife's hand. Perhaps in another life he would have looked different, he thought. No use dwelling on that of course; she had loved him either way. As he went to his eternal rest, his callused hands were as hot-blooded as they ever had been. And with his mind at ease, Lar Khazirsson, the Heart Eater, went to his eternal rest.

The blood of a magical creature had been passed down for a generation, yet only now was when one decided to mess with it. For Aeka, this would have disastrous consequences. Born with the ability to sense vibrations within the earth, she knew something was off as she felt something move. It wasn't the earth... it was her. Something deep within her chest was moving... what? The answer came as her heart gave way under the pressure, and so too did her skin. Silk, in a raw, unprocessed, and sticky form came with the blood that spilled out of her figure as she collapsed, dead.

(your +3 has been reduced to a +1).
It seems that individual combat is enjoyed more than group combat, and has resulted in many newcomers growing frustrated for the inner circle's emphasis on the seemingly useless group tactics. They see it as a waste of time only forced due to nonsense with Rok. As for the Isans, many of the Brotherhood at this point have gained status as blood siblings of them all through combat, which is the only trial accepted by the natives. They tell their new brothers and sisters of the before times. Apparently Khop was among them for some time, and furthermore, they talk about the whereabouts of Ier. According to them, he still lived for some time after the founding of Ierok... the last they saw of him, he too, like the giants, had headed north.

San-Gou herself focused on meditation, and seemed to gain new knowledge about his holiness. He himself was not at odds with the blood; in fact, he wished for the spilling of blood in front of him, whatever that meant. This enlightenment could have disastrous consequences, or not; her interpretation was not quite clear by the end of this time period.

Sadas' craft is not especially large, but it makes up for that in detail. It is comparable to a giant's work in that sense. Every contour and detail has been mapped out onto a block of sandstone the size of a man, making it almost perfectly lifesized, with only a thin pedestal underneath taking away from the height.

The logging ventures of Capanok expand well into the jungle, and you even manage to hire a few giant workers to help clear out some of the area. While on the smaller side, they're efficient and loyal. On top of that, the plants you've come back with are incredible in variety. They include passion-fruit, bananas, and various citruses... even a strange bean, called the cocoa bean. According to the giants, you can make it into a drink, which they call milko-ko. It was a traditional Isan drink, apparently.

On the beach, near Rok, a monument known as the Crypt of Slumbering Tyrants stands. It holds a likeness of each tyrant, and even the two previous leaders of Ier, Lar and Gaer. Ier himself is absent for now, though it is obvious where a blank slot remains out of respect.

The House of Ivory’s initial attempts fail completely, for two reasons; the first is the fact that in recent years they have had contact down south, but according to what they’ve seen, the tribal gnolls there are experiencing a plague. In fact, they think it’s the fault of the House. Thus, when they first show up, they are given the message of the pointy end of the spear. They do, however, see the island’s makeup before returning. It is as thick a jungle as the mainland. Returning back with some of the Bloodguard, they are forced to fight a bloody campaign for the island. As of now, it still has not ended, though reports have not returned recently. It seems the natives are used to jungle combat and have been using stealth tactics. That combined with the fact that the seas between the islands and Ierok seem strangely dangerous, it would not be beyond belief that the group has been wiped out completely.

>>2063568
The elimination of pests is always a good thing for farmers, and emus are a pest more than most. Often making their way through wooden enclosures and ravaging crops is a common trait of the birds. However, after an arduous extermination campaign, they’re mostly eliminated near Ful’cana, though they were never present on the other side of the river to begin with. Their meat and fur sell for a decent price as well.

It seems that this project is still overly ambitious, as very few in Ierok are willing to migrate that far out without monetary incentive.

>>2063636
Ierca's warriors become as well known as those of clan Sholzgaetor back when they first started off. A sign of things to come perhaps? They certainly are formidable, and if their training continues, they may one day stand side by side with the Brotherhood itself.

This project, the first of its kind, begins to give ghouls the first ideas of what may cause death. By inspecting each individual area of the body (called organs) they are able to determine which is the thing that has caused it, if not how or why. It seems that ghouls have a secondary heart that beats in unison with the second if blood is consumed, and that is where it flows through. However, those who have consumed large amounts of blood in their lifetime have strangely deformed secondaries. On top of that, it seems that the amount of fat as well as the health of the organs is often determined by diet and exercise.
---
Turning your eyes skyward is a hard task during the day, but at night, the ghouls with the best vision are ordered one night to see if they spot anything. As the world is engulfed in darkness, something is seen. Several things. Impossibly tiny lights dance above the sun, and they’re everywhere. Staying in a single position, over the course of a year’s worth of observation, they seem like they’re growing very slowing.

The project is completed relatively quickly, with guard towers and a tiny barracks being completed as it was also under budget.

A couple of scouting boats are prepared as the first conflict in decades is seen on a national level. The waters of the coast as always are rough past Yamlat, but that it is no concern; these vessels were built to last. It is the Tenth of Hoktom as they are sent out late in the year, war ships with all the bits to match. Along the coastline, they trace a path to the islands not touched by Ier’s hand in any meaningful way until now. Two boats travel on...

As for travel/scouting, 3 rolls, DC 65, -10 experience, -15 coastal areas, +40 ???.

While travel south is successful enough, one ship is forced to beach on the coast for repairs on the way back. It seems that not many gnolls are present on the largest island, and those that are stay gathered in the southeast. The second island is missed due to rough waters, but perhaps that is a blessing in disguise as the seas stir with a force never before seen… the river itself feels some flooding due to salt water surges. The coastline is rocked by waves some 10 meters high at times, and people wonder if this is a sign from some god of the ocean. Word from Reptia dispels this notion, and suggests that something has happened in the seas to the west, and they themselves have borne some of the brunt of the impact; their coastline is reportedly devastated, and they are forced once more to rely on Ieran agriculture. However, Ier too feels some issues with farming, as salt water in the river means crops growing less or not at all.

The giants have been teaching us their secrets, the most esoteric knowledge of their kind. That is to say, cheese and beer. On top of fermentation (which has produced some pretty damn good alpaca cheese), smoking is also a method of food preservation coming into use. The gnolls have been driven out of the islands as the seas begin to settle, while Reptia has somehow had ships traveling to us from the middle of the ocean. They say they hear rumors of things stirring in the south as the dawn of a new century approaches…

The ways of a youngling are energetic, and perhaps not entirely suited to the ways of a life so sedentary and still. At least, it appears that way with San-Gou's child. He did grow a fondness for music though, and that is shared among the Brotherhood. Utilizing chanting combined with the natural sounds that come from their environment (spear on stone, feet on ground) they have created a relatively unique musical culture that focuses primarily on group harmonization and synchronization.

>>2065056
The Erabenim's attempt to start a cultural icon has been seen as an abomination by the warriors and blood priests in Ier, while the Tannish see it as an affront altogether. In fact, it's in part fueling their independent underbelly, who in a brazen act of anti-Ieran sentiment saw much of it torched one night. Scrawled on the surviving stone buildings of the settlement were words such as 'traitor', or 'barbarian.' All in all, not a very successful project.

A river overseer is created, as Reptia's warnings become increasingly pronounced. A diplomat sent to us wishes to treat with the tyrant, if he so wishes.

Will he accept?

The Concord Hut is filled with the representatives of the various founding families of Ier, and even those Tannish included in it. Though it is not large, the sculpture of the current Tyrant in it gives it gravitas enough that it feels significantly bigger. Among them now is one with white hair and red eyes. A ghoul. Perhaps not what one would expect from Reptia, especially if you heard the words directed to the nation on the street, but a not insignificant portion of the population traces their roots back there. Having arrived on a large vessel from the same unknown location—or perhaps locations—that their merchants had been coming from in recent times, the man had gone straight to the huts erected recently for the bureaucracy. Introducing himself as Rowl Ul'bern, he seems interested in the goings on of the room while he waits for the tyrant. His eyes linger on Chad for a while before drifting off to Tyrant Tarhan as he enters. Upon urging, he speaks with a baritone that wouldn't be expected with his rather girlish appearance.

"I'm sure our merchants have mentioned things in the south; they mingle enough with the upper class to get a sense of things going on. However, they aren't told the real tidbits that actually matter. God knows where we'd end up if such sophomoric men were in charge, but I've not gathered you here to lecture on fools when I err on the side of caution with saying I look like one myself. Make no mistake, Reptia has no ill will with Ier, but others might, and that is the real point I am here to address. Tell me, since you sent those scouting vessels, you didn't send anything truly militarily out did you? If you did, you'd have realized that the islands, well, are a lost cause. Not because of them in and of themselves, but rather, there appears to be a concerted effort by the Matriarch of the savages to engage in war with you.

Reptia sees it in its best interests to allow the sale of mercenaries to you, you see. Blood of my blood, and all that."

With a smirk and a few short sentences, the murmuring with which the room was subsumed with is ended in its entirety.

(And that's where I sleep for the night. Good night anons.)
>>
>>2067811
"We're thinking we'll need the services of three hundred veteran mercenaries."
>>
>>2075724
The man frowns.

"I imagine you underestimate the urgency of your situation, but we shall let that be for now. How much do you know of the southern gnoll society and how much would you be willing to pay for? I can offer some in good faith, of course."
>>
>>2075991
"I'm still waiting for some of my people to return with information from the south. If you have anything you think would be worth sharing then feel free to do so."
>>
>>2075991
"Some of our tribe have travelled in those lands, but most of what they learned there is unbeknownst to me.
If I may, might you perhaps enlighten us regarding how many the Matriarch can muster for her designs. A rough estimate is better than no estimate after all."
>>
>>2077899
"You sent people into the south? What gives you the expectation they'll be returning back alive?"

He seems a little more reproachful of you all, his face caught a little between surprise and outright disgust.

>>2078007
"You assume we know either; they have experienced a plague, but all lands south of yours, and indeed, those of the Ehwaz south of their area, they control."
>>
>>2084641
"Tell us of these Gnolls, what are they like, how do they fight and how many do you think that can field. "
>>
>>2084641
"Well, then what can you offer us regarding their capabilities then? Please let us hear this you're willing to give in good faith.
As for this about paying for information, might you perhaps give a hint regarding what you're selling so that our tyrant can make an informed decision regarding what to offer you for it?
>>
>>2084649
>>2084654
His face changes as his voice hardens somewhat.

"I had assumed you knew a bit more, and thus was keeping my cards in my hand shielded from your view. It seems you knew less than I had given you credit for.

I'd set their numbers at five thousand men, but that is just a term; their forces have always been mixed, with the women oft taking charge of command. They fight like savages, decentralized and chaotic, but uniting against outsiders unless an extremely sweet deal is offered.

I shan't ask for much in return for that information, but I do have my own questions that I came here with. Are you aware that some of your own are among them as slaves? A rather amusing tale; they freed prisoners of yours last war, and trusted them to take them south and give them information and goods. A nice man would call that being smart, and a wise man collaboration with the enemy. What would you all say to it?"
>>
>>2084668
".... That was new to me.
We appreciate the information, those traitors shall die slowly I promise you."
>>
>>2084677
"I will not reveal the names of my men, as I think if you try to contact them that will put them further at risk. However, I can say that the Archon did command me thus to put gnollish men from under my control in the gnollish capital to gain information on the state of affairs there. The culprits you're looking for are from the House of Ivory, who were immediately taken prisoner once led to a settlement in the south. Apparently they didn't even know the language, and just trusted the gnolls who they freed to do something nice to them? According to my sources, even the gnolls who were freed weren't exactly clear on what they were trying. I have nothing more on their fates or what their goals were, unfortunately."
>>
“Pffft.... what a bunch of fucking morons those Gnoll lovers were.”
>>
>>2084687
"Well that's an interesting tale which we'll learn more about later."

''Hmmm how many of those mercenaries is Reptia willing to offer?"
>>
>>2084687
"The House of Ivory is a founding house of Ier. Whatever they are doing, it is for the betterment of Ier. They've never shown otherwise. What is more important at this time is not the gnolls, but Isarn. They are the true threat to the people of Ier."
>>
>>2084836
"You have enemies at the door who you have just attacked, and who are amassing men against you, yet the true threat is one you trade with? Blood and bones–"

>>2084834
"As many as needed. Our activities elsewhere are halted at the moment, so the focus can be redirected here. The upper limit I'm not free to reveal, but I assure you that what we have would be enough."
>>
>>2084880
"I meant what number do you think would be sufficient since you have so much intelligence on the situation. There's also the matter of how we'll paying for said soldiers. Last I checked you didn't accept the bronze rings in Reptia."
>>
>>2084880
"And of what race are these mercenaries?"
>>
>>2084880
"Alright perhaps this should be a sufficent deal. For 600 mercenaries we'll give a discount on certain trade goods with Reptia. Fair enough?"
>>
having been listening carefully and not even responding to the accusations against his people, the Painted Ghoul turns to leave "Seek us out when you have worked out the details here, you know where to find us". The heavily shrouded Ghouls raises and leaves the meeting steadily "We will explain all we have done, seen and know in this regard when you do".
>>
>>2084924
"Idiots all of them, may I speak Tyrant?"
>>
>>2084961
"Go ahead."
>>
>>2084668
>>2084971
"Thank you Tyrant, I believe a proposal of 600 Reptarian Mercaneries, none of them Ghouls in exchange for a 10 percent discount on all foodstuffs from Ier for 3 years would along with a small gift of 400 Rings. The House of Ivory are idiots and are often known for ding many foolish things, often to do with Gnolls. I'm sure the Tyrant will place some restrictions on them in the future to prevent such things happening again."
>>
>>2084985
*none of them Gnolls
>>
>>2084985
"Does this proposal sounds good Rowl.?"
"As for the House I'll figure out just what the in the name of Rok was going on down there."
>>
>>2084985
"Foodstuffs are easier to come by these days than tin is; I'd prefer a one time sum of that, and a forgoing of the rings if you wish."

>>2084957
"Turning to leave does not convince anyone of their innocence, surely? I'd be wary of the Painted ones, if I was of Ier. There is a reason Reptia stayed relatively centralized you see."
>>
>>2085227
"We can barter for bronze if you like but we do not part with Tin."
>>
>>2085241
"Bronze it is then. Tyrant, I assume you agree?"
>>
>>2085282
"Agreed."
>>
And with the assent of the leader of Ier, a deal is forged with Reptians. A fragile one it may be, an agreement to fight a common foe could see both nations gain power, and as the fire in the tent grows brighter in the green dim of evening, that is shown in the faces of all present. Rowl returns to his ships, and they set off towards home, leaving most with merely the thoughts of what he has said. If the information spoken is true, then a war on a scale not seen awaits the leaders of a changed nation.
