"Excellent job!" Karla coos as she is presumably observing the Zentradi fleet falling apart. "Pilots, I expect you to follow up on her work!"

"I thought we were supposed to protect her?" You ask. You look back to the battle. None of the Zentradi looked to be getting anywhere close to your own fleet.

"Well, you see, yours and Lieutenant Williams' Valkyries have a few special modifications." Karla explains wistfully. "You have fold quartz broadcasters built into your planes, which serve to 'extend' the range of Amy's song!"

"So, you're telling me that the closer we are to the Zentradi-" You start.

"Her song gets stronger? That works for me!" Lara laughs as her engines flare up, her Valkyrie picking up speed.

"Hey, hold up there, Lara!" You grunt as you throttle up in response. "Do you even know where you're going?"

"To the big space battle...?" Lara points out.

"Well we need to have an objective, first." You sigh.

You give the battle quick look. The Zentradi fighters and battlepods were scattered in a number of isolated pockets, which your allied Valkyries were taking advantage of, rolling them up one by one. Missiles flared and lasers glittered in the void of space as Zentradi were mowed down in droves.

However, a side effect of that disorganization was that there were a number of Zentradi lingering on the periphery of the battlespace almost completely ignored. It would be a problem if they managed to rally.

Meanwhile, the main Zentradi capital ships well still somewhat organized. Their formation had become much looser and the rate of fire from their weapons had dropped, but they still remained credible threats. However, with their looser formation, that mean more gaps in their AA coverage you could exploit...

"Nice!" Lara whoops. "Wonder how big they'll make the kill marker on the side..."

You could see the larger cruisers being screened by smaller frigates and destroyers, which were providing the bulk of the close in defense. However, as you has observed previously, their formation had scattered to the point where gaps in their coverage could be exploited.

Those larger cruisers, while being tougher nuts to crack, were packing the majority of the firepower and the command and control. Taking out even one could probably break the Zentradi push for good.

Already, your flight computer was calculating the projects arcs of fire from the surrounding Zentradi ships, immediately marking a narrow corridor where you'd be statistically least likely to be shot down. At this point all you'd have to worry about was the cruiser's own defense weaponry.

You see the surface of the Zentradi glitter and shimmer, the telltale sign that its defensive laser cannons were opening up. You only had split seconds to start weaving and juking to throw off the aim of the incoming artillery.

"Shit!" Lara curses when she's forced to pull up and away from your relative heading from a laser that passes by too close for comfort. "Why are they focusing on me?!?"

"Probably because of your magnetic personality." You muse.

"Very funny, Cap." Lara grunts.

More azure beams of light illuminate your cockpit as you bring your Valkyrie into a corkscrew dive, throwing off their aim long enough to get into their dead zone. Your Valkyrie flies just mere feet above the hull of cruiser, where the guns are unable to depress or rotate quick enough to track you. Lara follows close behind.

"So what's the call, Cap?" Lara asks. "This armor's pretty thick and we've only got the standard missiles..."

She was right. You'd have to hit a vulnerable section of the ship, and there were only three that came immediately to mind: the bridge, the hangar, or the engines. The bridge was the most vital part, but also the most heavily defended. The engines were big targets, but you'd have to fly to the other end of the ship. And finally, the hangars had the potential to inflict catastrophic damage, but you'd actually have to find and penetrate them first.

Unfortunately, as you crest the edge of the cruiser, you immediately see a big obstacle in front of you.

The hangar doors were closed shut, the large blast doors barring your way. What made things worse was that there was a small team of Regulds guarding the entrance, too.

If you unloaded all your missiles, maybe, just maybe you could blast a whole into the doors. But then that would mean you'd have to get inside with GERWALK or battroid mode to cause any sort of damage afterwards.

Both you and Lara are able to successfully disengage, the Regulds apparently caught by surprise by your presence and being slow to react. You both boost away and loop back over to the "topside" of the cruiser.

At this point, though, the main NUNS fleet was starting to close in, and concentrated heavy laser fire was starting to get hits in. You could see several of the Zentradi pickets explode from direct impacts. One of the cruisers was already aflame with multiple missile and laser hits, drifting uncontrollably.

Just then, your flight computer starts screaming as it was detecting an energy buildup. The remaining Zentradi were trying to Fold jump out! At this point, the only way to stop them would be an all or nothing attack on their bridge. However, if you were too close to ship when it jumped, you might get yanked along with it to wherever the hell it was going...

Thankfully, the incoming defensive fire was hasty and disorganized, and it was easy to weave through the curtain of fire. Finally, your targeting computer whines and your HUD goes red, signifying a solid lock. You flip the safety off of your missile trigger and fire.

Lara follows up a split second later, unleashing a hail of missiles at the bridge. The incoming fire lightens up as the turrets begin prioritizing intercepting the missiles, but in this close, they simply don't have the time and the bridge is awash with explosions and light.

You see Lara's Valkryie shoot forward, switching to GERWALK mode and hitting thrusters in reverse to keep herself from slamming into the bridge, the legs of her Valkryie smash into the front viewport. The glass barrier explodes outward, and you could see the enormous bodies of several Zentradi get sucked out into space. Lara then brings her gunpod in line with the bridge and unleashes a storm of fire inside, the muzzle flashes briefly illuminating the shadows of her victims.

"One cruiser kill!" Lara cheers.

Your flight computer's sensor warnings then die down as the fold jump was apparently aborted. Farther out, there's a flash of light as the remaining Zentradi ships fold out, retreating so quickly they don't even wait to recover any of their deployed Regulds.

And Amy's singing finally stops, the transmission cut.

"Excellent job, Captain." Dorothea's voice says. Her voice was still calm and collected, but you swear you can detect a hint of pride... and maybe a little bit of relief? Maybe it was your imagination. "Come back in for debrief."

"Hey, we still got a lot of Zeds to mop up here." Kellerman groans. "You think you can loan 'em out for a little longer?"

"Mmmm, I don't see an issue with that." Karla responds, neither accepting nor denying his request.

You check your Valkyrie's readings. Ammo and fuel was still good, and there didn't appear to be any significant damage other than the normal wear and tear. Missiles were a bit low, but you think you could manage.

"We can help out a bit." You confirm. "Everything's still green."

"Yeah! More kills!" Lara says happily.

"That's what I like to hear!" Kellerman says approvingly. "Our guys are a bit stretched thin, so every bit counts! There's the normal mopping up of whatever pods they've got left. Or you can help our ground teams clear out that cruiser disabled. Or you can head out and recover the early warning satellite they trashed on the way in here."

"I believe her presence will keep the Zentradi on board demoralized and pacified." Karla explains. "They've already listened to her song and been exposed to her fold waves, so I believe they'll instinctively gravitate toward her."

"You mean to say you want to test if this actually happens." You growl.

"Well, if that's how you put it..." Karla chuckles. "Besides, your Valkyrie has an extra seat, doesn't it? So she'll be close by you at all times anyways!"

"Ummmm, thanks." Amy squeaks, but says no more. It didn't take a genius to figure out she was embarrassed as hell.

You finally reach the hangar bay, where you see a team of Valkyries in battroid mode, guns at the ready. There was also several Zentradi shuttles sporting NUNS colors, no doubt loaded with Zentradi marines. Finally, you noticed one Quaedluun-Rau Meltrandi battlesuit. Basically the armored combat suit female Zentradi warriors typically wore.

It sporting what looked to be a large riot shield on its left arm. The battlesuit turns its head to see your approach and waves cheerfully.

"Hi Laraaaaa~!" A cheerful female voice coos.

"Yo Julie, long time no seeeeee!" Lara returns the greeting, waving with her Valkyrie's arm.

"Who's the new guy? A boyfriend of yours?" The Meltrandi giggles.

"W-what? Of course not!" Lara laughs. "Why you always gotta assume I'm dating my wingmate?"

There's a flash as the shaped charges planted on the hangar doors explode, cutting a hole large enough for Julie's battlesuit to barge through.

You and the rest of the boarding team burst in, weapons raised, but quickly find that is unnecessary.

There, huddled in the hangar were hundreds of Zentradi crew, all seemingly in a daze and not putting up any resistance. However, you keep your weapons trained on them all the same, just in case.

"ATTENTION ZENTRADI FORCES." Julie bellows from her suit's speakers. "LAY DOWN YOUR WEAPONS AND SURRENDER, AND YOU WILL NOT BE HURT."

"Is... is She with you?" One of the Zentradi mutters.

"I... can feel Her! She's here, isn't She?!" Another one cries.

"Our Idol of Peace!" Another adds in.

"Wha...?" Julie hesitates, confused.

"The hell are they talking about?" Lara wonders.

You get an idea of what it is, and you can also picture Karla's smug smile.

"Uh, um, uhhhhh...." Amy freezes, completely unsure of what to do.

"Jeez, it's just like how grandpapa used to tell it." Julie says as her battlesuit scans interposes itself between your Valkyrie and the crowd. "A girl sings and then everyone just freaking loses their minds!"

"Yes, yes. This is a very positive development." Karla chuckles somewhat ominously.

"Well, it looks like you've got your first fanclub, Amy." You grin.

Amy looks to you, and then to the crowd of obsessed Zentradi, and then back to you before the realization finally hits her.

"FUCK!" She groans.
