Making Relevant Titles is Hard Edition

Character info pastebin in progress: http://pastebin.com/iB0tb7rz
Dice odds for best of 3: http://pastebin.com/994WTT3g

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

Pokemon:
Gobble (Munchlax)
Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Roselia)
Dice (Croconaw)
Sorbet (Vulpix)

Location: The astral plane, at the newly modernized grass temple on Tabo Island.

You have no idea where to go from here. You don’t like keeping secrets or lying or any of this sort of thing. It just isn’t you. If everyone’s problems and issues are laid out in the open, then you can always at least try to find a way to help solve whatever’s going on.

“There’s someone I need to talk to before I figure out what to do.” You tell her.

She nods. She doesn’t seem to have a problem with that, and isn’t bothering to ask questions.

You do have a question for her, though. “Um, can you tell me if you’re contacted by that thing again?”

“I suppose.” Her tone is a lot softer than her words. It’s not kind or inviting, but it’s not hard or cold, either. “You should give me the bone for safekeeping, though.”

“I...you want me to give it to you?”

“I’m losing focus, Herb.” She fades a little. You’d almost forgotten you were in some weird meditating trance, despite how surreal your surroundings are. “I’m a better battler than you. Put that stubborn pride of yours aside and let me guard it. I don’t want to keep it, I just want to keep it safe. I can contribute too, you know.”

Your stubborn pride? Oh that sizzles your stirfry! But she does have a point. Jane’s really strong. It might be safer with her. But the way she said it hurts. You don’t really feel like you’re the best around and wouldn’t ever claim to be, and while you don’t train as often as her, you do try your best and you have worked hard in your battles. You deserve a little credit, is all. You tied with her in your last battle.

But is it right? You wouldn’t want to give her your burden. She always seems stressed enough as it is. And, as much as you’d never want to point it out, you’re surrounded by friends and she isn’t.

>That’s okay. You’ll hold onto it
>You’re strong, and you’ll prove it! Let’s wake up and battle!
>Okay. You’ll wake up and give her the bone

“It’s okay. You make a good point, but it might make someone...belligerent. I’ll hold onto it.” You tell her. “I feel like it’s my responsibility.”

She looks like she wants to protest, but she holds it in. “Fine, I can understand that. But don’t complain about me keeping tabs on you.” She says. There’s a hint of playfulness there, under a lot of thorns and danger. “I’ll see you on the other side, Herb.” She begins to fade.

She’s gone before you can say anything else. She looked strained, showing how she was running out of focus. You know that feeling, so you don’t take her abrupt exit personally. You just stand there for a moment reflecting. This is worrying, but it feels a lot better knowing that as much as Jane can be...Jane, she still shows a lot of good judgement and even trust in you.

You awaken, seeing the real world once again. Gardevoir’s eyes shoot open as well.

“That was peaceful.” She says. “I understand why you recommend this.”

“Thanks! Glad you liked it.” You tell her, pushing away your worry about what you saw. She seems to react a little to it, but not as much as you’d expect. You stand up and offer her a hand.

“It is hard to focus around so many people and pokemon. But the emotions mostly cancel out. It’s not calm, but it is manageable.” Her eyes fall to Mace. He’s still meditating. “He doesn’t have the emotions I’ve sense in him since I met you. He’s at peace right now. It’s refreshing.”

Huh. You’re glad Mace is doing well inside his own head, but her telling you that is a little worrying. She looks into people’s head’s often and tells you all about it.

>Explain she shouldn’t expose people’s feelings

You decide not to comment on it and confuse her. Instead, you have a question. “Do you know Mace? It feels like there’s something between you two.

“I am not so old.” She laughs. “But he does seem familiar.”

“Really? You remember?” You cringe at your question. She clearly has some memory issues. You don’t know if you should be so careless in pointing it out, though.

“Yes. It reminds me of a story from someone. I do not remember who. She was warm. She told me of one like him. I don’t remember what it was, but I remember it sounding nice.”

“Oh.” You aren’t sure how to react. Was Mace running around with Gardevoir’s mom in an adventure at some point?

“He does not like me.” She states plainly. “He feels I’m unpredictable, and dangerous.”

“Give him time.” You assure her.

“I do not think anyone has as much time as it would take for him to change his mind.” She says. You’re not sure if that’s a joke or not.

Mace wakes up slowly at first, then jolts upright. He gets his bearings and relaxes.

“Did you have a bad dream?”

He shakes his head.

“He says he was not sleeping, but-”

Mace makes a noise.

“No. I-”

Mace makes more noise.

“You were though. I could sense it.”

Mace floats up to eye level. You’re impressed at his control as she adjusts himself in the air. He makes some more noises at her.

“Very well.” She says. “I’ll stay out of your mind. I hope you change it in time, though.” She awkwardly tries to give you a subtle wink. But the way she adjusts her footing, takes her time to make sure you’re looking, and using her whole body makes it extremely noticeable.

You start walking back to your room. It’s been a productive day, you think. You can hear Laki, Abigail, Keira, and Jane in the attached rooms. It actually sounds like there’s some laughter. You peak inside, wondering if maybe you’re going crazy.

Jane, Abigail, and Laki are trading insults. Vicious, mean ones! But they’re not fighting. And Keira is doing her best and failing to hold back tears of laughter. “That’s so harsh!”

“Like Laki’s skin.” Abigail zings. You brace for a fight but instead there’s another round of laughs.

“Oh ho!” Laki almost shouts over the other girls. “At least it’s not so pasty that I blind people when I’m under sunlight.” Laki shoots back.

Even Jane’s cracking a smile and taking insults in stride. At least, she’s acting really hard, You can’t tell.

Hana said she’d be out late and not to wait up. You’re pretty tired and just want to get to sleep.

You figure it’s best to be prepared, and you’re pooped. You walk past the door, go to the door to your room, and quietly get ready, and into bed. The sound of loud talking and laughter make it easy to go unnoticed but hard to sleep. But as you close your eyes and feel the weight of the blanket, and then the weight of pokemon cuddling on and around you, it’s not that hard.

Gardevoir wanders into the other room. You’re already 90% asleep and don’t worry about it anymore.

“Hey!” You can her them greet her. You only catch a little of it, but you can hear them asking about you. There’s some shushing as they discuss that you’re sleeping. You’re already drifting off by then. Your eyelids are just too heavy.

You wake up the next morning to the feeling of somebody jumping on you. “Wakey wakey!”

It’s Laki. Your eyes adjust to the light. She’s smirking down at you. “You’re a bad boy. I told you yesterday that I was going to take you last night, and you went to sleep early.” Her hands pin your arms up. “I hope you’re ready to make it up to me. Don’t worry about Hana, she’s doing last minute stuff for the play. I just have to show up in a dress so-”

Wait, something’s wrong. “What happened to your eye?”

She blinks. “Oh. The bruise? Right. You slept through that too, huh. Jane and Abigail and me all got into a fight last night.”

You jump up. But your head suddenly rising catches Laki by surprise and you headbutt her.

“SON OF A-! Ow! Frig!” She holds her face.

“SORRY!”

After more apologizing, and healing, she easily forgives you. She explains that the insults started going a bit too far and there was a little melee. Things are fine, she assures you. No reason to make a big thing about it. “Well, as fine as they were yesterday. They’re still vipers, those two. But I guess they’re not so bad either.”

Wow. Okay. Huh.

Laki stretches. “Guess I’d better get going. Big day today. I know I don’t talk a lot about feelings and other stuff like that, but you should be proud, Soft Hands. Your influence is rubbing off on people. It’s not just me. You make everyone here want to be a better person.”

You’re choked. You don’t know what to say. “Laki...”

Laki holds her gaze on you for only a moment before she starts to get self conscious and throws her hands up. They push against your face. “Stop looking at me like that. I’m not good at talking about this stuff. Don’t get all feely about it.” She pushes you back onto the bed and checks her pockets before reaching for the doorknob. “A-anyway, I’ll see you tonight at the fashion show. Keep an eye out for me.”

You don’t have much time before the event starts. It feels like it’s been forever, but at the same time it’s all so sudden.

“Wait.” You put a hand on her hand on the doorknob.

“What’s up, Soft Hands?”

You lean in and give her a kiss. But it’s not a quick peck. It just sort of transforms into a long deep one with some heavy petting. You still have no idea what you’re doing, but the way she reacts and sounds and smells and feels, well, it just inspires you.

“You get me going like that, I’m going to want more.” She exhales. But you’re already leaning in for another kiss.

Gosh she’s cute. “I could still make it up to you.” You say, blushing profusely.

She soft, cute smile turns into that smirk again. She pushes you against the wall, hard.

An appropriately long enough time, a bruised hip, and a very quick shower later, she’s scrambling to get out the door. “I’m going to be late.” She laughs. “Worth it.” She gives another quick kiss on the cheek and she’s gone. She’s in a fantastic mood.

You let yourself feel a little smug as you make your way to the play area. You don’t have time to help Hana get anything ready, but you can watch and support her that way, at least.

Wow, there are a lot of people here. There are foldout chairs and extra impromptu seating set up on the sides to accommodate the crowd. You sort of just get shoved along into a seat on the very edge. You look around and finally catch a glimpse of Hana talking with someone while her Tirtouga looks up at her with concern on it’s face. Boy, she looks stressed. The play’s scheduled to start in 15 minutes and the seats are already packed. You doubt you’d be able to get it back if you left yours.

The stage is impressive for something that was put together so quickly. The people on these islands can work wood like you can work cookie dough. There’s even an overhanging part that blocks sunlight that you wonder about. But when you see a Mareep up there you guess there’s a reason for it. It’s out of the way and not really noticable up there unless you’re looking for it.

Before the show starts, you quickly send Hana a text letting her know you’re in the audience. You see her check her pokedex quickly, type something into it, relax a little, and get back to work before vanishing behind curtains.

“Big surprise for the finale! Watch the Mareep! Real lightning!”

Real lightning! That’s huge for her. You know she’s not good in thunderstorms. And you can see the safety precautions around the stage now. There’s even a rod under the stage that’s protruding a little.

You glance around. The audience has a lot of parents. Mostly moms and kids, but not entirely. There’s also a small assortment of various clergy and some other important looking people. A few people have Pokemon out as well, so you don’t feel worried about having Bella on your lap.

The play starts. It’s humble at first, with a small Magikarp flopping onto the stage as a narrator describes its lifecycle. It eventually flops into a fake lake, and the announcer talks about how they evolve into the mighty Gyarados. Instead of one of those appearing, it’s the magikarp again, but with Gyarados accessory just like you suggested. The audience roars with laughter at the surprise.

You find yourself enthralled. There are a few small issues here and there but the short tales presented are as engaging as they possibly could be.

But there’s a problem. A big climax to a central story is happening. The narrator describes how there was a mighty lightning bolt!

But the bolt doesn’t appear. Mareep’s eyes are closed! Oh no! It’s asleep!

“I said, there was a mighty bolt of lightning!” The announcer sounds unsure.

The audience begins to murmur

“It’s asleep, mommy!” The child on her mother’s lap points to Mareep.

“Oh. I didn’t even notice that up there.”

The audience is talking more and more now. You’re getting worried. Isn’t this too long for something that’s part of the act? Aw jeez. You wish you knew for sure. But you decide to gamble and hope it’s not a mistake.

“Bella! Use Worry Seed!” you whisper to her.

She looks up at you to make sure she understands right, and you usher her on. She quickly jumps up onto her feet, aims, and with a forceful but quiet shout, fires of the Worry Seed.

Mareep shakes awake suddenly. Everyone’s looking at you, Bella, and the Mareep.

“The weather was predicted by novice sky acolyte that day, but there was indeed a Mighty. Lightning. Bolt.”

Mareep shakes it’s head and quickly gets into stance. Then, Thunder!

Crackoom! It’s loud, deep, and bright. The stage shakes and the audience gasps. You take the opportunity to quickly find your seat again. You’re a bit mortified because a few people still keep looking in your direction, unsure if you’re part of it or not, but that fades pretty quickly as the play moves on.

Despite the little hang up, the rest of the play goes off without a hitch. At the end of it, as the announcer re-introduces the cast and they take their bows, there’s an extra one for a “Bell Adonis.”

“I think that’s you.” You tell Bella. She rushes up onto the stage and bows, loving the attention. There's a lot of applause and it seems like it was pretty well received overall, even with the Thunder issue being a topic you hear people discuss as they leave their seats.

After the audience begins to clear out, you go to meet Hana. She’s biting her nails and pacing.

“Herb!” Her voice cracks.

“Would you tell her it’s fine, please?” An acolyte asks you, referring to Hana. “You are that guy she won’t stop talking about, right?”

Hana hides her face under the artsy directing hat she’s wearing.

“I’m so sorry!” The Mareep’s owner says to Hana and the crew. “Mareep, you know how important that timing is. I’m very ashamed of you. We had one job and we let the temple down! Bad!”

Mareep flinches at the words. It looks very upset.

“Hana. It’s fine. Everyone loved the play.”

She stops pacing and looks around. “Well, of course they did. We’ve got the best crew ever, am I right?” The crew gives each other some pats on the back and general agreement. Wow. You can’t believe how confident Hana’s become. She’s really gotten everyone to believe in themselves. “That’s right! And good save with that joke about the sky acolyte.” She says to the announcer.

“No problem.” His smooth voice returns.

She gives you a big hug, and that’s when you see the absolute terror on her face. “I have no idea what I’m doing.” She whispers.

You just hug her back. “The people beside me really liked it. I really liked it. You made a lot of people happy today.”

She gives your hand a squeeze.

“Great first show, everyone.” She turns back to the crew. “We’ve still got another showing tonight. Let’s knock it out of the park again!”

There’s some confusion about the idiom. She explains it and there’s more understanding. It’s weird to think of how different Hana is from other islanders. A lot of them know mainland sayings, but it seems like the clergy and older people are less likely.

“Hey Mareep.” You lean down and pet it, ignoring it’s master’s scolding. “How are you feeling?” You scratch it. It brightens right up, but then suddenly sneezes.

“Huh, that’s odd.” The owner says. “Mareep are you alright?”

“Who me?” You thought he was talking to Mareep at first.

“Yeah. Usually people get hit by Static. Guess you got lucky.” He says.

You look up at the spot the small pokemon was stationed, and despite feeling self-conscious, you climb up.

“You shouldn’t do that, you’ll hurt yourself.” Someone says. He runs off before you can respond. “Hey! Hana!”

You look at the platform it was on and there it is. Power. Green, tiny specks of powder that already have your eyes drooping. You quickly get yourself down and shake the feeling off. You didn’t get much exposure so you’re fine.

But this is very worrying.

“Herb.” Hana approaches with that person that was telling you you’d hurt yourself. “Hooko tells me you're climbing on the set?”

“That’s right! Hey friend, this is Hana’s production, not yours!” He wags a finger at you and Bella. Despite not thinking much about your physical size or manliness, this guy really makes you feel huge and masculine in comparison.

“It’s okay, Hooko.” She says. “What’s up, Herb?”

You put a hand on the small of her back and lead her away. He follows at first, but awkwardly stops when you look back at him. You didn’t give him a mean look or anything, you don’t think.

You explain about the Sleep Powder you found.

“What?” She whispers. “I...I can completely believe this, actually.”

“Really?”

“Well, yeah.” She shrugs. “The world’s just a mean place. Bad things happen to good pokemon.” It’s a matter of fact to her, which makes it a thousand times more depressing to hear.

“You’re not upset?”

“I am. The crew worked really hard on this and whoever’s responsible is a world class, uh, bad word. I’m going to make sure something like this can’t happen again. It’s my fault for not paying enough attention. But well, that’s life. You’ve got to go into every good thing expecting something bad to ruin it. That way it’s not so bad when it goes wrong.”

You’re going to tell Mareep’s owner in a minute, and you have a plan to use Gobble’s nose to help track this down, but you feel you should say something.

I feel like Herb would be pretty afraid of validating Hana's expectations, honestly. Is this how we made her feel when we ran off at the beginning of the relationship? Is she expecting us to settle down with just Laki someday? Or to keep expanding and have less and less time for her? All those times she said she was scaring you off, then laughed it off... how genuine were those laughs?

Anon, please, I didn't ask for these worries...
>>
“Is that how you feel about us?” You’re curious, but also a bit hurt. The question just sort of left your lips.

Hana stops in her tracks. She has no words for a moment.

“Oh.” Is all you say to her wordless answer.

“Herb. I-that’s not what I meant.” Her eyes dart around without knowing what to settle on. “I’m just trying to be realistic about life in general. I didn’t mean anything about us. I really, really like you. Like, embarrassingly a lot.”

Well, that touches you a bit. “I do too. I mean. I like you, not myself. Well, I like myself but I didn’t mean it in that sentence.”

“Your taste in girls is the one thing not perfect about you. Uh, except for Laki.” She jokes, putting a heavy metal hand on your shoulder. “Don’t freak out, but I don’t have it in me to view life differently. I don’t know how. It just doesn’t happen that a good thing lasts. But until I mess it up, or one of us is carried away by a Zapdos or something, I’m all in. Please don’t doubt that, okay?”

You squeeze her hand back. That makes her visibly relax.

“So, we’re okay?”

“I think that’s a depressing way to look at things, but I’m not mad or upset at you or anything.” At least, you’re pretty sure that’s how you feel. You kiss her on the forehead. You just got a bit blindsided that she thinks it’s all eventually doomed.

“That’s a relief. So you’re not like, internally panicking or anything right? We’re still good and we’re still going to keep doing what we’re doing stuff? Not just because, you know, it’s awesome. But it’s this really intimate, emotional thing and it makes me feel closer to you. Also yeah, itfeelsreallyreallyreallygoodandIwantitsobadfromyousometimesIcouldscream.” She mumbles off track. “I’m shutting up.” She zips her mouth.

You give her another kiss and try to assure her it’s fine. You didn’t except that big of a reaction from your question. You sort of want to talk about it more, but now’s not a good time. She’s being called away and you need to get to the bottom of this.

You take the Mareep’s owner aside and show them the sleep powder on your hand, explaining where you found it.

“Someone did that to my Mareep?” He’s astounded. He bends down to look at this pokemon. “I’m so sorry girl!”

Mareep moves forward to nuzzle it’s owner. He quickly puts on a glove to pet it. You feel like they were still a bit harsh regardless, but it’s nice to see that love there.

Now, down to business. You put the distractions in your mind away and think. “Gobble, I need your nose.”

Gobble looks up. You have Bella use Worry seed on him, and ask him to sniff out the source of this Sleep Powder. At first, he thinks you’re crazy, but he actually gets a scent and follows.

You go with him and find an Oddish walking back towards the building.

You follow the little pokemon down the hallways. It’s crafty. It avoids places with a lot of people and even doubles back once. Either that, or it got lost for a minute. But either way, you stay on it’s tail.

Oh no! It looked back down the hallway! You quickly hide behind the corner. You’re almost positive it didn’t see you, but there’s still a chance. You peek around the corner and see it’s already gone in one of three directions.

“Which way, Gobble?”

He sniffs around. The smell must be getting more faint, because it takes him a second. But he does point you in the right direction. You catch up and see the little pokemon come to it’s trainer. It’s a high ranking Agriculture Branch member!

Hey! You recognized that just from his clothes! You’re really learning!

He puts the pokemon away in a pokeball. He doesn’t seem suspicious of you at all. You guess he doesn’t have a reason to be. He walks in your general direction, and then right past you.

Location:The newly modernized grass temple on Tabo Island.

You decide the best course of action is to let your friends, and High Priest Koa know. You describe the man, which is easy thanks to his distinctive hair and tall stature. Usually you have to resort to fashion world terms to describe people that only Valerie would understand. You refrain from commenting on how he’d have a much more striking look if he adjusted his sash a little and stick with the facts. Although to be fair, that is a fact.

Your next stop is visiting High Priest Koa. If he has a pokedex you can text, you sure don’t know it.

“Herb, come in.” He greets you at the door. “I’m glad you’re here.”

“Really?” You didn’t mean to blurt that out. He just didn’t seem happy with you the last time you talked. You were actually getting pretty anxious about meeting him again.

“Yes. Keira came to see me. She, well, I don’t suppose you’ve seen her angry, have you?” You can’t say that you have. You shrug. “I’ve always encouraged her to speak to me as if there were no ranks. She took that lesson to heart. It was a humbling experience. I’ve made a ponyta’s rear of myself. You were right to question me.”

“Oh. Well, thanks. Is she okay?”

He nods. “She’s angry, but she let a lot out. She told me she loves me.”

“I uh, wasn’t the one that told her.”

He laughs softly. “I know. I should have known better than to keep a secret from her. It’d be like you hiding Boco bread from that Munchlax of yours.”

Gobble’s ears perk up. You gesture to him that there’s no bread.

“What brings you here?”

You explain about the Agriculturalist man using the Oddish to sabotage the play. He looks pretty worked up about it.

“Herb. This is the solution! Don’t you see? If we catch him in the act, he’ll lose all clout. He’ll be unable to push any more reforms and we can balance things among the branches again. Your word on what you saw wouldn’t be enough. He’d just deny it. But if we can leave a trap for him, lure him into another attempt, we’ll be set!”

“Isn't that the sort of thing that Keira’s upset about?”

He inhales sharply. “I know. But that’s the beauty of it. This would make any other schemes unnecessary. And it’s not really all that underhanded, is it? Nobody honest would have anything to fear from trap like that.” He doesn’t sound that convinced by his own words. You think bringing Keira up really got to him.

“Well, maybe, but I don’t want anything to do with it. I just wanted to warn you.”

He feeds a plant. Wait, that’s a Bulbasaur! It was sitting so still by the window that you didn’t even notice it! “Herb, I’d like to ask you something.”

“Um, okay.”

Besides, Koa can blow this guy's plan to hell by just inviting him to tea or something. Koa's Head Priest of the temple, he can easily assign a lower priest to do something for the rest of the day that keeps him too far away to sabotage stuff.

“I don’t know.” You’re very honest. “I just try my best. But I think you’re wrong.”

“Oh?”

“I’m really not that lucky. Like, there was one time I fell down a hole and got into serious danger. And I’ve been attacked by hungry dragon pokemon, and angry pikachus, and-”

He laughs. “I understand. Your honest attitude and bad luck bring you hardship, but overcoming it makes you stronger. Why Herb, you’re like a pokemon yourself!” He laughs again. You don’t think it’s as funny as he does, but you’re glad he’s in a good mood.

“Oh. We’d better get going. The fashion show is soon.”

He’s right! You rush to the fashion show. Your presence is still a bit disruptive backstage, but the girls are keeping their distance. You think it has something to do with the territorial glare that Laki gives. But even with that, her edge is just gone today. She’s smiling and whistling and very happy looking.

“Hey! Hello!” Abigail interrupts your thoughts. “How do I look?” She twirls in a very heavy traditional dress. Not island traditional though. It’s something from her people. You assumed she’d wear one of the kimonos.

“You’re wearing that?” You’re pretty surprised.

Abigail shrugs. “They said to wear what I wanted. Nobody’s stopping me. A few people have called me ‘exotic’ though.” She gives you a sharp look. “Stop dodging the question and be honest.”

The truth is, she looks really pretty! There’s one small change you could do with a bobby pin in two seconds, but that would hide the small patch that shows the colours of her town.

“You look, really amazing, actually.” You hope that doesn’t sound insincere. You mean it. “I just have one suggestion.” You reach for the part you want to cover, bobby pin already in hand, you move slow enough to see if she has any objections.

“No way!” She stops you. “I’m not covering that up. I’d rather go out there naked with just this patch, and I’m actually modest about my body so you know I’m serious!”

You take your hand back. “Sorry.”

“Ah. It’s fine. Just regional pride. No touchy.” She gives another twirl. “Other than that, good?”

“Amazing.” You say again. She’s got a good body for modeling, if she were taller. You mean that in a purely fashionable way, of course.

“Amazingly sexy? Really? I don’t think that’s very appropriate, Herb.”

“I didn’t say that! I-”

“Herb! Please, your girlfriend is right over there! Stop it with these comments about how hot I am!~” She turns to see how Laki’s reacting, but she underestimated how quickly Laki could move in her robe. Abigail’s face turns and smacks right into Laki’s chest, and she’s immediately grabbed and held. “Joking! Only joking!” She struggles to get free, but still laughs.

Laki lets her go. “The only joke is that you think you’d be able to steal my man.” She sounds surprisingly friendly.

Abigail gives an embarrassed but mischievous grin. “You’re fast for such a big girl.”

“You’ve got a small chest for someone so full of hot hair.”

“Yeah. Real good one. Got me there.” Abigail rolls her eyes.

“Ladies!” The Beauty Branch leader appears from nowhere. “Showtime!”

They all rush to position, but she stays standing there, looking you up and down. “Herb. Looking for something to do?” She motions to a rack with a dress. “One of our girls got sick. We need a replacement.”

>Well, if it’s for the show...

CUTE HERB IS GO!
>>
You feel absolutely humiliated. Completely offended and hurt that she’d ask this of you. But, regrettably, also a sense duty. You did suggest this show.

“I guess, if the show needs me to.”

The beauty branch leader glances down at you again. “To what?”

“Put on a dress and go out there?” Isn’t that what she was asking?

“I...hmm, actually, that might work.” She claps her hands giggling acolytes appear out of nowhere to take your measurements.

Wait! If it’s not what she meant then you can get out of it. “Oh! I misunderstood! Forget I said anything. Haha! I- Woah!” Those measurements are getting a little intimate.

“Remember your vows!” She chides the acolyte. “And Herb, thank you. This solves our problem quite well. Just relax and let us handle it.”

She’s not letting you back out. She’s already walking away and leaving you to her acolytes. Oh man. You get led to a chair and girls rush over you with tweezers, makeup, and perfume. You recognize one of the girls as the friend of the one you battled. She compliments your eyelashes and says she’s jealous. Bella jumps onto your lap and looks very confused but interested. Dice’s nose seems to be overloaded and he’s pushing it into random legs or things to stop more smells from getting it.

“It’s your lucky day. We’ve got a few that you can fit, with a little adjusting.” A girl giggles and points them out.

“A little adjusting? I can’t fill that one out.” You wish you could say the same about all of them, but you know that’d be a lie.

She stands in front of you and opens her tight but covering kimono. You’re shocked. You’re even more shocked when you see a pink pokemon appear and reform. Her chest is now loose and baggy instead of being firm and nearly bursting. “Trade secret. Shhh.”

That’s impressive and terrifying.

“Um, that one.” You point to the most regular looking one. It’s got a slit on the side that might show some leg depending on how you’re standing, but other than that it’s not so bad.

The girls giggle and work their magic. You learn that the bulky dress is actually something that’s worn by a wife that wants to get pregnant. So that’s a bullet punch you’ve dodged there. You watch as they practice their presentation and show you what to do. Luckily, your part isn’t that hard.

“So, I won’t stand out much, right?”

“Please. You don’t look like an islander and you’re the prettiest one here.” That’s not the answer you were hoping for. But as they spin you around to the mirror, you look at your face and you’re shockingly pretty. It’s depressing, but also a little...

You shake your head.

“Alright, get ready!” Someone shouts. You and the girls are all lined up into position. You see Laki coming back from her catwalk and getting into another dress. She gives you a funny look, but doesn’t recognize you.

“Hey.” You whisper to Laki, trying to disguise your voice.

“Uh. Hey.” She stops and goes back to you. “Do I know you?”

“That boyfriend of yours is pretty cute. How’d-”

“And very firmly committed!” She warns.

Awww. She’s jealous. You feel a little guilty. But hopefully you can still get her to laugh after a minute. “Heh. Yeah. How’d you land him?”

“Oh.” Laki softens. “Sorry. It’s a funny story. I didn’t really think much of him when we first met, but he grew on me fast. He’s way more of a badass than he looks. And a big charmer. He’s got that way of making you feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. Anyway, I guess I was teasing him too much because the sexual tension was getting out of control and-”

“It’s time!” Someone starts waving the girls onto stage.

“I’ll tell you later!” Laki whispers. “What’s your name?”

“Herb.” You say in your normal voice.

“Oh my fuc-” The look on her face before you vanish onto stage is one of the funniest things you’ve ever seen. You don’t usually like playing pranks, but that did feel fun. You wish you heard more, though.

Woah! Bright lights! The audience is way bigger than you expected.

Okay. Calm down. You go over the routine again. It’s nice and simple. Go out there, follow the walking pattern, go down into the audience and say hi to some people to distract them during a set change, and then come back. Just a few minutes. No big deal.

Oh gosh. Those are a lot of eyes on you. Oh jeez oh man this is so embarrassing. Some older guy just said that if you were a little older and he were a little younger...Well, you’re glad he trailed off. And those island boys are staring too. Your blonde hair makes you stand out among the girls.

You follow one of them around as she says hi to people are their tables. She’s laying it on thick, flirting and even trying some of their food.

“Your friend’s pretty shy. I didn’t know you had mainlander acolytes.”

You know that voice. You turn and see Max.

“Oh, she’s just a guest.” The girl you’re following says.

“Hey good lookin’” He shoots you a wink. “Want to come polish my badges after the show?” His land finds it’s way onto your leg. And then your inner thigh.

It takes you a moment to realize the screaming you hear is coming from inside your own head.

Slap! Your hand flies before you even think about it. The sound draws a lot of eyes, but doesn’t stop the music.

“Wha...” he holds his face.

“Hands off!” You blurt out.

“Woah. Was he touching you?” The girl you were with says.

He throws his hands up. “Hey now. I just put my hand on her leg. Don’t start implying things.”

The girls sort of do that thing where they communicate just by looking at each other. When you were really young, you used to think all girls were a little psychic. Sometimes you still get that feeling. Whatever they’re communicating, they’ve come to an agreement. A girl ushers you away to a backroom above the stage.

“Ugh, boys are such Tepigs.” She says. “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.”

“How?” You feel shaken, surprisingly. Maybe it’s just the dress and makeup bringing out your feminine side. You don’t know. You feel pretty and bloated at the same time.

She winks. “Trade secret. Us Beauty Branch girls have our ways.”

Well, that’s a little scary. “Um, thanks.”

She sits you down in a chair, holding your hand. “It’s fine.” She grabs you a glass of water

There’s a strong hissing sound coming from somewhere in the room, and a heavy perfume scent. It’s really distracting. And familiar. You can’t place it.

“You’re that Valerie girl people have been talking about, right? Beautiful, blonde, smooth skin...”

“Um, no. I’m Valerie’s friend though.” Does she not realize you’re a guy?

“Just friends?”

“...yes?”

She sits a little closer. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but did you know our vows only technically count boys?”

That hissing is really distracting. What’s she saying, exactly? Wait! Oh jeez. What the heck? Is she hitting on you?

She puts a hand on your leg. A lot farther away than Max did, though. Bella startles her with a sudden fuss.

“I’ve got to go.” You pick up Bella and start moving. “And it’s not appropriate to hit on someone after that! A-and I’m taken!”

“Ah! Sorry!” She says, looking worried. “I don’t know what came over me. Don’t be mad.” She still has a look you don’t entirely trust though.

You stop yourself from leaving. There’s something bugging you. “Do you hear that?”

You look around, following the noise and the smell. Gobble helps and points it out to you. It’s a large canister under some curtains between this partition and where the audience is, and the handle’s been bent! It’s stuck open, leaking the contents.

“I recognize that smell! That’s the perfume the girls used to distract me during my first battle here.”

“Oh no.” The girl with you says. She opens the curtains slightly and feels the airflow. “It’ll flow down to the audience. It probably already has!”

“What do we do?” You ask her.

She tries covering it with a cloth, but it just soaks right through and the smell doesn’t go away. It just slowed it down a little.

For whatever reason, you don’t feel it much, if at all.

“I’m going to get our high priestess!” She runs off.

Crabapples! That thing looks so heavy, too.

She’s taking awhile.

You try to think. What do you do? Standing around just doesn’t feel right. You have a few ideas flooding you at once.

You take out your pokedex to snap a picture. At the same time, you call out to Sorbet. “Quick! Use Safeguard!

She hesitates for a moment, confused, but she performs the move once she understands where you’re pointing. You try to take a picture of it for evidence, but you were distracted in directing Sorbet and end up taking a selfie.

“Mace!” You call out as you take a proper picture of it and keep clicking. “Use Mudslap on it. But be gentle. We don’t want to damage it.”

Mace flies out in front, and, concentrating, quickly but gently covers the canister with mud. It slopes down the side and he needs to keep using it to try to keep it covered, though. Still, his control is impressive. His energy exercises are clearly paying off.

“Sorbet, I need you again. Try to freeze the mud!”

Sorbet tries Powder Snow. She doesn’t make it perfectly frozen, but she does slow the mud down a little. You think it helps. The flow seems to be almost entirely stopped and Safeguard is keeping it contained in here.

The Beauty Branch Priestess finally appears, spraying the room with a different perfume. “Has anyone else come in here?”

“No.”

“Good.” She relaxes. “Ah. Smart move.” She sprays you down, too.

“What is that?”

“You don’t think we’d have such a thing without a counteracting agent, do you? We’re not so irresponsible, like the Agriculture branch and their move away from composting to imported fertilizers.”

That helps relax you a lot. “What about the audience?”

“It didn't spread far. I have girls going out now with bottles. Nobody even knows anything happened, thanks to you mostly containing it here. I assumed it would be much worse.” She leans out of the curtains and gestures for someone to come in. It’s a small, round, flying pokemon. “Rowlett, Defog.”

The remaining gas you had contained is dissipated. Other pokemon appear, including a large Muk that wraps itself entirely around the canister. You're pretty impressed with how on top of it she is. When she took so long, you were starting to worry.

You allow yourself to sit back down in the chair and relax. The Beauty Branch leader does the same. “This is why I smoke.” She says, slouching.

She examines the room. “Hmph. A simple ploy. But it could have made a very embarrassing scene. Not many people would have access to our stores.” She taps her foot. “How do you feel?”

“Fine. Actually. Why don’t I feel it’s effects?”

“You’ve been exposed once already. It’s just a one time effect and all it really does is loosen inhibitions, you can't control anyone with it. You can adjust the recipe to re-use it on someone like you a few times, but there’s rarely a need. It’s a simple marital aid. A lot of married couples come to us. Young people like you hardly need more encouragement to get frisky. Sometimes I think I need to lock those girls away before they snatch up every boy that comes by.”

You like learning about the islands. You wish it were under better circumstances, though. Still, it feels like the danger has passed. The show is winding down and it’s just the girls going among the audience and extolling the importance of supporting your local temple. You watch from the curtains and see that Abigail’s dress is a big hit. Not exactly what you had in mind, but maybe that’s a good thing.

You look in the mirror. You really do look like a different person. Maybe you should visit Hana before taking this off. For fun. “Can I borrow this? I want to show someone.”

“Oh!” She smirks. “You’re one of -those- mainlanders. Sailor’s delight.”

“...What?” A vision of Pahoa, the former pirate captain, appears in your mind.

“Nevermind.” She stands herself up. Her slouched posture immediately gives way to a practiced, refined look. “Go ahead. Keep it.”

“Really?”

“It’s a simple practice garment some of our acolytes have made. There’s nothing sacred embroidered into it. It’s a blank slate. There’s a mistake on the back. Poor stitching”

“Thanks!” You bow and take your leave.

You try to avoid the main route to the play area where Hana is. Her last show of the day must be wrapping up by now. You wonder about the best way to surprise her.

There she is! You don’t know why you’re acting like this, but you guess even you have a mischievous side. You approach Hana. She’s taking congratulations from people and looking a little overwhelmed. She sighs tiredly when they die down.

“Hi.” You say, a little disturbed how good you are at this voice.

“Oh. Uh. hi.” She has trouble with eye contact with strangers.

“Your show was great.”

“Aww, thanks.” She loosens up a little. “It’s all the cast and crew. They’re the ones you should be telling. I just sort of stand around and tell them what they already know.”

“You’re dating Herb, right?”

She raises an eyebrow, looking at you critically for the first time. “...Yeah?”

Ah! You’re ruining it. It’s so hard to act natural. ”I’m asking because he’s cute. How’d you land him?”

“You’re asking me for boy advice?” She can’t believe it. She seems almost worried this is a trap. “I mean, look at you.. Uh, not that I’m looking at you that way. It’s just, if there were a boy in my place here he’d be pretty all over that.” She cringes. “Not, all over that, maybe he’d be gentlemanly. I don’t know. The point is, you must be fighting guys off with a stick.” She covers her face. “I’m sorry. Can we start over? I’m Hana.”

“I’m Herb.” You confess.

Her face freezes for a moment. The transformation goes slowly and openly from confusion to shock to a delight you only saw her express the other night. “Herb?” She pulls you aside into a more private area. “Omigosh. Oh. My. Gosh. What!”

“Yup. It’s me.” You’re feeling a little exposed.

“Ah!” Her voice is quiet but high pitched. “You’re so cute!”

“I’m glad you like it.” You’re relieved, but a little concerned with how delighted she is. It’s more than you expected. “Just thought I’d try to pick up that cute director I saw.” You hope that wasn’t too corny.

She snorts, but doesn’t take her eyes off of you. She’s walking around instead of asking you to twirl. “If anyone could steal me away from you, it’s you. I can’t believe this. Best birthday ever!”

“I- huh?”

“I never told you when it was and when I realized it was approaching I thought it’d be unfair pressure to spring it on you with no time to get me anything, so I kept it to myself. But I should have known you’d find out.” She sighs happily. “I’ve been thinking about our conversation earlier. I think I’m too pessimistic. Good things can happen. And last. I can’t keep my promise to go out and live if I don’t let myself risk getting hurt.” She looks away, but instead of the usual routine of hiding her face, she lets her smile show. “I’m rambling, I know. Directing this and going all the way has made the last few days feel so long. It’s so eventful and emotional. Stressful but exciting. It’s been huge for me. And at the end of it, there’s you, doing something that I know is probably really hard, just to make me happy. It’s too much to deny. I guess what I’m saying is,” she inhales sharply, getting ready to say something. “Here goes. What I’m saying is, Herb, I... I think I love you.”

These are not mutually exclusive

Although, to be fair,

and now that you do

[I hate to end it in suspense, but that's it for today. The next thread will be on Wednesday though.

Thanks for coming, everybody! Have a wonderful day! Don't be shy about anything you want in a bin describing what other characters have been up to. I'm planning on doing mostly Jane and Polu but will add whoever else.]

Thanks for running Gobble! Have a good night!

>I can't wait for the moment that Hana tells Laki that as well even if it's not quite in the near future.
>>
>>2069416
A contest would be nice, but I really really want Hana/Laki bonding. I'm really interested in their relationship as sal-mates.
>>
I'd love a sort of expanded on reality check moment for valerie where she realizes that it doesn't matter where she is, delcatty bitches will be delcatty bitches, or maybe a bit of an I miss my friends type deal. Or if its not spoilery what herb's sis has been up to.
>>
>>2069446
If she was in the audience we'd die of embarrassment.
>>
>>2069446
>Valerie sees some new cute blonde and knows she's got fierce competition.
>>
>>2069458
Or she sees a chance to ask out a cute girl...
>>

Thanks for running Gobble!

As far as bins, I'd like LakixHana bonding (bondage?) And Valerie dealing with mean girls.

Also Sharpedbro. How is he?
>>
Looking forward to more kiera and val development and doing destiny spirit adventures with Jane after talking to raq
(Obv after having our girly way with Hana and laki)
>>
Remember when Laki and Keira tricked us into doing the hoopa dance way back when we first met them? And how we promised to prank them back?

Well, we’ve finally pranked Laki back. But what about Keira?

I propose we let Keira catch Hana “cheating” on us, assuming we’re willing to let anyone but the beauty girls and our girls know about this, and our aura doesn’t give us away like a sore thumb.

Also, I’m all for spending the rest of the day spoiling the birthday girl.
>>
>>2069582
Now you are taking it too far what they did was a harmless prank what you are suggestion although whilst temporary would inflict emotional pain, dial it back a bit and pick another prank that won't hurt someone even temporarily.
>>
>>2069591
Ok. That’s reasonable. Um... got any ideas?
>>
>>2069599
None at the moment, then again we haven't really come across anything that we could use to prank them.
>>
>>2069599
We already got kiera back when we told her we'd talked to her god and he loves pancakes...great prank bro...ha ha
>>
>>2069416
Unrelated to the bin you mentioned, but Hana and Laki double teaming Herb in his new dress when?
>>
You know, I can't wait to see how Laki takes the cross-dressing in private. She has issues with feeling cute, and Herb just looked amazing as a girl. Then again, Laki is an opportunist, and will probably make the most of that chance.

Also wonder how similar Herb and Valerie look, if they were wearing the same outfit... might be an interesting fantasy for Laki.
>>
>>2069416
I might be against the majority ITT/Quest but I don't like crossdressing Herb. It just doesn't suit him, in the sense that he's been trying to come into his own as a man.

Maybe I'm overthinking other anons' fetish fuel, but it turns me off of the quest.
>>
>>2070043
It's just for laughs for me, just how the good looking boy makes a really pretty girl like Cloud in FFVII. If Hana likes it, then I'm glad she's happy. I think it's a sign of Herb becoming more secure in his Maculinity. Before he would have felt completely emasculated and depressed by these turn of events, but he's taken it as an opportunity to play some pranks and for the most part he knows he's still a man regardless of what he is wearing and I think that shows character growth.
>>
>>2070043
yeah me too I am really disliking this, I'm fine with letting other anons that are into it have their fun but I hope it ends soon too.
>>
>>2070094
That's a fair point, it just isn't to my taste is all. Not like I'm going to drop the quest over this, unless it gets prominent (which I doubt)

Sorry for the ID change. I'm at my uni and the IP seems to change from building to building. I'm >>2070043

I like that Bella hisses whenever there is a threat to Herb's purity
>>
>>2070094
Yeah. It’s just a fun opportunity. I’m not expecting Herb to transition, just get kinky for his girls. Maybe he’ll do this again for Laki’s Birthday? But not really otherwise, too much work without all those beauty girls and too embarrassing if he got caught.

I’ll bet Laki’s thinking “get you a man who can do both” to herself though.

So for an ancient storage system did people just put Pokemon in thier souls or like hammer space tablets.
>>
>>2071166
They probably just trained Pokemon like a boxer. Giving them advice and traveling with them, but just living side by side like people do.
>>
>>2071271
Huh I looked it up and apparently pokeballs as old as 3000 years exist. So it's possible the people of alola had thier own sort.
