This quest takes place in the DC Universe with characteristics mainly pulled from the animated TV series and films.
You are Battery, a teen who had once suffered a brutal death at the hands of The Joker. However, he was resurrected as an android by his father and given extraordinary powers! However, he wasn't the only one created, as there's now a sister unit planning the destruction of life on Earth!
Recently, you've set in motion the plans to stop your sister unit by acquiring the assistance of Lobo and destroying HIVE's Zeta transporter before it's too late!

Rules:
-15 Minute voting period after each post, I will now specify how many votes are allowed per post.
-Some actions (typically combat choices against non-generic enemies and certain social situations) will require 3 D100 rolls, using the best of the 3 rolls for said action.
-Critical successes/failures are 100/1

Power is at maximum.

HUD is fully operational.

Collision Dampener Field is at 100% density.

Sensory Functionality has been fully restored. Now at 100% for all senses.

Replicators at 30% functionality. Severe damage sustained, but negligible for current circumstances.

Initiating Bunker Buster.

Your right arm is practically glowing under the sleeve of your coat, but it only confirms that your power has converged on the singularity point of your fist.

“UUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAARGHHHHH!!!”

Your fist punctures the ground like a hot knife through butter, bringing you to rest on one knee as your cataclysmic punch puts you elbow deep into the ground!

“DAGH!”

The energy erupts from your arm, causing the ground to blow apart beneath you and soar towards the sky!

The noise of the catastrophic explosion would've made any normal man deaf, but you're a monster who can soar in a storm of dirt and rocks quite comfortably.

Your blow sends you off your feet to join the dense cluster of soaring soil, but it's far from a hassle to guide your heavy legs back to the surface.

You stand in the raining dirt for a moment, looking down at the entrance you've created.

The crater you've formed created a decent sized tear in one of HIVE's halls, the heavily armored ceiling torn and frayed inwards to the facility's golden interior.

“Wow pops,” The dark haired alien muses behind you.

You turn to face the three girls floating down toward you, the lips of the violet sister spread into a mischievous smile.

“You think you could teach your future in-law how to hit like that?”

Her red haired sister merely shows a worried expression at her desire, while the pale girl between them both rolls her eyes beneath her hood.

A: “Shut up. Let's go.”
B: “If any of us survive. Are you children ready? Should we discuss a plan?”

C: “I doubt I'll survive. Ask Reno if by some miracle you make it out of here.”

D: “You should leave. All of you. Despite my son's wishes, I cannot risk your lives.”

They seem capable, but they're still kids. As cold as you are, you don't want to be responsible for their deaths.

“If any of us survive. Are you children ready? Should we discuss a plan?” You ask.

“Yes. I believe sister Blackfire should be the one to guide us through!” Starfire announces too joyfully for her sister's taste. As soon as the words leave her smiling mouth, Blackfire's face twists with annoyance.

“Ugh... Okay, sooooo...” She mutters, flying over the torn entry way and examining it.

“I'm just winging it, but we should be at the hall the leads to the cafe area. From their we can take the right hallway towards my room and then the transporter should be right around the corner.”

“Shouldn't we be worrying if she heard that huge explosion? We were hardly subtle.” Raven remarks, showing a concerned frown.

“She'll know I'm here, but hopefully she won't expect you three as well. If we encounter her before reaching the transporter, leave her to me. You all need to destroy it no matter what.” You order.

The two in front of you nod, while the dark sister behind you scoffs.

“Can we get going already?” She pesters, sinking into the entry point.

“Sister, wait!” Starfire calls out, racing after her while a reluctant Raven follows close behind.

You shake your head, sliding down the curve of the crater and leaping towards the breach in HIVE's facility!

Landing smoothly through the hole with a thunderous crash, you look over to see the girls looking down at something in the hall ahead.

You head over to them, gently shoving yourself between the frightened Starfire and disgusted Blackfire.

Crumbled on the floor is a girl covered in red stained feathers, two bloody stumps protruding from her back where wings used to be. A dented helmet is discarded to her side, while her red sleeveless top is leaking blood through several puncture wounds.

“Yikes. Sucks to be Angel, I guess.” Blackfire remarks, cringing at the sight of her butchered classmate.

“Sister, how could you be so callous? Was she not one of your friends?” Starfire sadly asks, covering her mouth as she continues to look at the fresh body.

“You do know who you're talking to, right?” Raven says dully, managing to pull her eyes away from the horrific scene.

A: “Enough. There's plenty more where she came from, and we can't waste time bantering over all of them. Let's go.”

B: “I do find your lack of remorse concerning. I would hope you care for our survival.”

C: “She's hardly a tragic loss. Everyone here was scum in training.”

D: Investigate the body further. It's suspicious that her helmet was discarded.

E: “We need to split up, otherwise you all will suffer this fate. I'll search for the sister unit, you three destroy the transporter.”

You push past the team and kneel down beside the dead girl.

Her eyes are closed, and her face seems somewhat peaceful despite the pain she visibly went through.

Noting the discard helmet, you move your steel hand through her red stained locks of blonde hair and tilt her head.

That's when you catch something far more disturbing than the corpse itself.

There's a hole in the back of her head, perfectly rounded as if it had fit something inside there.

What's worse still is the fact that it's completely empty. The images before you paint a perfectly clear picture of what the sister unit truly means by making this Earth reborn.

“She's stripping their minds. She's going to place them in artificially similar bodies and mask their previous memories.” You observe.

“How do you know?” Blackfire asks, folding her arms.

“I did the same for my son.” You coldly answer as you stand.

Blackfire's eyes widen at your answer, meanwhile Raven holds up a hand as if to redirect the conversation.

“Wait, I thought you said that she was trying to exterminate methumans.” She points out.

“I was wrong. It would seem that would prefer reincarnation to genocide. This thought process of hers is rather astounding...” You remark, but you quickly catch the mad scientist in you escaping as Raven and Starfire give you concerned glances.

“I mean, astounding in its madness. Erhm, we should get moving. Which way is the Cafeteria?” You ask.

“Yeah, about that...” Blackfire trails off as she gazes behind you.

“It looks like Angel was running towards it before she got her wings clipped.” She notes, pointing to a set of large double doors ahead of the team.

Starfire gives it a stressed look, then gives it to you.

“Perhaps we should go a different way.” She meekly suggests.

A: “We'll split up. Blackfire, take your sister through an alternate route. Raven, you're with me.

B: “No. The quickest way possible is our best option. Let's go.”

C: “You take three find an alternate way around. I'll go ahead.”
D: “Perhaps we should, Starfire.”

“We'll split up. Blackfire, take your sister through an alternate route. Raven, you're with me.”

“... Really?” Blackfire asks, her eyes squinted in annoyance.

But soon her eyes go wide in shock as she's suddenly gripped by the wrist and flung away from you and Raven by her upbeat sister.

“Come, let us do the gossip while we travel! You must tell me more about your boyfriend and the positive impact he has had on your life!” Her sister beams.

“THE ONLY POSITIVE IMPACT I'M GONNA HAVE IS WHEN I...” Blackfire trails off around the corner, leaving you standing there awkwardly with Raven.

“You sure that was a good idea?” She ask you.

“Nothing we've done today were good ideas. Come.”

You both cautiously approach the cafeteria doors, bracing yourselves as they slide open.

What you're greeted with is a horrific sight, repeated numerous times.

Scattered across bloodied floors and tables appears to be one student's body. Or rather, multiple of a student's body.

“Billy Numerous...” Raven informs, looking down at one of the bodies near her feet.

Each one of the red-jumpsuited bodies as faced death in a multitude of ways, most of them involving sever damage to the mouth area.

Strangely enough, it seems all of their brains were removed despite them all being copies.

“Tell me something... Why did you make something like her? Something that could do all this with ease?” Raven asks, looking ill tempered as she questions you.

“She was brought to life by Luthor. If humanity were to face extinction, her and Reno were to be deployed as our last hope of existence. They were even built to reproduce, if it came to that...” You casually inform, stepping over a trio of bodies.

“But why? I understand wanting your son back, but why with this? What justification do you have for going this far?” She badgers, sadly gazing at the scene.

You come to a complete stop, hanging your head.

“Because... I would do anything to have him back. Anything, even it means helping a snake like Luthor. But... Even now I question if the extent we went to was too far.” You begin to answer, facing her.

“I've seen things. What lurks beyond a thin curtain separating our world with another. Raven, I can tell you're more intelligent than the others. Surely you understand we're merely one Earth of many, yes?”

She closes her eyes for a moment, then nods.

“All to well. My team and I have all been to one.”

“Perhaps not long enough to experience a crisis.” You add, looking around.

“From our observations, each Earth will experience at least three crises every century. These events will forever mold the Earth, and often it's for the worse.”

“I'm guessing we're in one now.” she dryly adds.

“You couldn't be more right. And this is only the-”

You're cut short by approaching voices coming from the doors adjacent from your side of the room!

You and Raven both hunker down behind one of the lunch tables, peaking your eyes over the top.

"There's no way that's Star and Blackfire." Raven states, a dark matter already shifting around her hands.

"Correct. I'm picking up three unique voice signatures." You confirm, a display on your HUD picking up the three distinct frequencies.

Raven's eyes begin to shine white with anticipation, and you can feel your yellow bulbs glow with the same intensity!

A: Ambush them as soon as they come through the door!

B: Wait! Just try to hide and see who it is.

C: "Raven, can you keep that door closed?"

D: "I'll make a diversion, you try and get the jump on them."

“... So I think it would be most enjoyable for us to do the double date!”

“No.”

“But sister, should we make it through this most troubling of the times, we must-”

“No.”

“But-”

“No.”

Oh my god she just doesn't know when the hell to shut up. You were hoping the whole “Reno's evil sister mass murdering every geek here” thing would make her stop being such a ditz, but she just doesn't quit.

“I do not understand.” Starfire says in her stupid sad puppy-dog voice.

“I thought you had become much nicer because of that boy. You were even given the blushes when he spoke to you.”

“Uh, no. I don't blush.” You say dismissively, keeping a hard focus on the halls ahead of you.

“Yes, especially when he did the kindness of saying he love-”

“ENOUGH!” You snap at her, cutting her sentence short as you feel heat radiate from your eyes.

“Let me make myself perfectly clear. I love Reno, and that's it. I don't care about this planet, it's people, your dweeby friends... Hell, I don't even care about that dead guy and I had three classes with him!” You yell in your sister's face as you point to the mangled corpse of See-More in front of you both.

“But most importantly, I hate you. I will always hate you. I will think about how much I hate you on my wedding night next week, I'll tell my eight children how much I hate you every night before I put them to sleep, and even when you come to visit on my deathbed to ask if I still hate you... I'LL! SAY! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!” You roar at her, causing her lip to quiver as she goes teary-eyed at your words.

You pant to catch your breath after belting all that out, listening to your sister pathetically sniffle.

“I... I wish I understood why, sister.” She quietly answers, looking away from you.

A: “You never will. Just stop thinking things will be different and let's go.”

B: “Really? After mother and father worshiped you while completely disregarding me? Even after I surpassed you on Okaara? You can't fathom why I would hate you?!”

How can she even ask that? Is she really that oblivious to everything?!

“Really? After mother and father worshiped you while completely disregarding me? Even after I surpassed you on Okaara? You can't fathom why I would hate you?!”

You whirl around screaming at her, the pain of remembering the neglect starting to get to you.

Starfire is at a loss for words at the outburst, as if she's trying to remember what life was like before. In her little world we were probably a happy family in the palace, but she was so stupidly ignorant to what I had experienced.

You can't stand her. How sweet and kind she tries to be despite what's happened to you. You wish she died as a slave after you sold her away. You wish she would die now. You want to just-

“Control yourself.”

Everything feels still in you after hearing his voice say that. At the peak of your anger you remembered what he told you.

You need to control yourself.

Grunting, you jerk your head away from your sister and start stomping down the hall with your eyes downward. It's hard to not put her head through a wall, but you'll do it for Reno.

“Sister... Sister!”

“WHAT?!” You bark as you jerk your head up, but you stop dead in your tracks as you look ahead.

It looks like Reno's stupid outfit, but... Skeletal? You're not sure how to describe it. Regardless, judging by the clashing red blood on it's white carapace, you have an idea as to who this is.

“This isn't a good time for a quarrel.” It coldly addresses, standing completely still while moving a dark cape behind its shoulders.

“I still haven't decided if off-worlders have a place here. I would consider offering you and others to return to the stars if you don't wish to be reborn.”

“I... Shall do no such thing!” Your sister shouts, flying to your side with her fists raised.

“I value this world as if it were our own!”

You just shrug off your sister's words.

A: “I just think you're a bitch.” [Give her a face full of black bolts!]

B: “Before I melt that stupid costume, I gotta know... What's the deal with the massacre here, and why are you dressed up like my man doing it?”

You smirk, raising your hands as your violet flames dance between your fingers.

“Before I melt that stupid costume, I gotta know... What's the deal with the massacre here, and why are you dressed up like my man doing it?”

“To prove a point to him.” She answers in an icy tone.

“That this world is is plagued by a disease far greater than any strain of cancer, and not only is it feared... It's cherished.”

You raise an eyebrow at her insane babble.

“Across all Earths, conflict has remained the same. You raises a sword to a man, they'll raise one back. This his always been a unavoidable truth. But now... Now it's more devastating than ever. Now if you create a Batman, you create a Joker. For every Superman, a Luthor or worse... For every “Hero” there is a bridge of dead people leading to a monster inspired by his conception.”

She begins to slowly step forward, her boots loudly echoing in the still halls.

“The mere existence of these caped crusaders alone is enough to destroy civilization. We have processed eons of information from various Earths, and only few have survived. We've witnessed Metropolis turned to cinder, and from its ashes a tyrannical Superman. We watched as Flash destroyed reality in a selfish attempt to save his mother, only to eradicate the Earth from his actions. There's even a world where a league of metahumans holds the lives of millions in fear, with no salvation in sight. There is no hope for a world with capes.”

“So, what... You prefer people just shoot each other instead? Do you also really think that wasting everyone proves your point?” You sneer.

“No.” It responds in monotone.
“We are a part of this disease. Our existence is a flaw. We have exchanged much to reach a solution.”

https://youtu.be/txzk_AzQIS8

Three circles emerge from her mask's forehead, forming a triangular shape as they're connected.

“Assimilate.”

She brandishes a large, trigger-guarded knife, raising the blade to her chest.

“And repair.”

She slices the air in front of her and then... Disappears?

“Wait, what?” You ask, gritting your teeth as you frantically scan the hall.

Starfire joins you in a anticipating stance, her kind face turning into one of fierceness that matches your own.

You attempt to look back and make a jab at how she looks, but when you turn your head you're greeted with the end of the sister unit's knife!

“GUH!” You howl, quickly leaning back from the blade's thrust and raising one of your protected arms to guard against the sudden attack!

The blade carves through some of the armor, sinking a few centimeters into your flesh as blood pours around the Tamaranean steel!

“Star! I could use some help!” You shout, your arm shaking as you struggle to overpower the sinking blade.

“Sister... Look.” Starfire says, looking dumbfounded at your arm.

It takes a second, but you see it. You don't know how to describe it, but it looks like the hand gripping the knife is floating over your arm!

“TCH! The hell?!” You question through clenched teeth. Is she invisible?!

You soon find your answer, as you notice the wrist seems to be distorting the world around it, as if it tore through some kind of elastic wall.

“I believe it's called the Reality Edge. I don't know if Control Freak is still alive to clarify.” You hear her voice, but it sounds like it's in your ears.

Suddenly her hand jerks away, splattering blood off your arm as the knife completes its cut!

You grunt and squeeze the wound on your arm, watching her hand seeming sink back into reality itself.

“How in the...” You ask, trying to comprehend the power of her weapon.

You look back towards Starfire, only to see the blade cut through the space behind her as if it was tearing through paper!

The knife carves a long slit in reality, and soon the Skeletal enemy wielding it emerges from the passage!

A: “KORI! BEHIND YOU!”

B: Shove your sister out of the way!

C: Try to pull your sister over to you!

D: Throw some black bolts at both of them!

E: Fly into both of them and pin them against the wall!

F: Run!

“KORI!” You shout, rushing forward to grab one of Starfire's arms to yank her towards you!

She's pulled off her feet and flung against the wall on your right her back smacking hard against it as she's brought to safety.

Starfire lets out a groan from the impact, looking over at you in surprise that you saved her.

Before you even get a chance to look back at the reality carving madwoman, Starfire gasps at you, but it's far too late.

You almost don't feel it, but you know it's there. In the millisecond it took for you to turn your head, a flash went across your vision, and soon everything went red in your right eye.

In your hazy vision, you see her arm moving away from your face as blood droplets glitter off the edge of her knife.

You're still too shocked to react properly. It's gone. Your right eye is gone and your lids are flooding with blood, but all you can do is just stare blankly ahead at her nightmarish helmet.

Then it comes like a rushing tide. The searing pain across your cornea, the throbbing sensation of needles inside your skull, and the burning in your throat as you scream.

You hold onto the right side of your face, your orange palms making a wet smear as they press into your torn socket.

Everything is quiet except for your screaming, or rather, it's muffled. You know she said something after the took your eye, you know Starfire tackled her and his roaring with fury as she tries to fight her outside your limited vision, and you know there's more voices in the hall.

But you don't know why you can't stop screaming. You don't know why you can't stand and fight. You've never experienced this before.

It's only until a hand firmly clenches your shoulder and pulls you away does everything come back into focus.

>Unknown dc to not lose Blackfire's eye
Dude, I appreciate you trying to keep things interesting, but unknown dcs feel railroady as fuck. I'm starting to get some Humble vibes, and that ain't good.
>>
>>2115404
I can see where you're comin from.
>>
>>2115404
We passed the DC though. It wasn't to keep her eye, but to keep her life.

also
>I'm starting to get some Humble vibes
>that ain't good

go and stay gone
>>
>>2115404
Why does it matter? We were going to have to roll for it anyways, it's not like we've known the DC's for every possible choice we made, just the one choice we make after.
>>
>>2115415
But how do we know that? No way to know if a rolll even matters when the dc is unknown. It's the same when you play a video game, gind levels to train, but a later battle makes all your attacks do nothing. Anon is just pointing out what he feels.
>>
>>2115416
It matters, because now we're in the realm of possible trap choices.
>>
>>2115415
Humble basically wrote a choose your own adventure with no rolling and filled with angst and SAD. It was crap. Go ahead and re-read it and you'll see. I used to like it too.

>>2115416
Cause if we don't have a known dc, then it's just up to the dm to decide if we pass or not. Again it feels like we're on rails.
>>
>>2115422
I'm pointing out that his feelings are wrong and he should feel differently.

>>2115431
Sounds like you got a bad case of shit taste bro. Maybe quests like >>2099474 are more your speed.
>>
>>2115431
I really doubt MP would lie about a set DC. I trust him a lot more than that.

>>2115429
The hell does that mean?

Look, MP's played an honest quest for 24 session now, and we've had the hidden DC thing before.
It's fine.

You hold an arm out in front of Raven and usher her to stay down, wanting to see who emerges from those doors.

What you get is something truly ear grating.

“Sooooo Koochi-coo-sam-ah, what exactly do you need-... Yuck!”

“That's... Certainly a lot of the same dead body.”

“Focus, ladies.”

The trio is three deadly women, all of which are currently stumbling across the same scene you encountered moments ago.

The first of the three is unmistakable. The Woman dressed in a diamond covered red and black clown suit with an over-sized mallet hung over her shoulder. Harley Quinn.

Your open hands ball up into tight fists, either at her horrible Japanese or the fact that she's allied with the madman that killed your son. What you would give to be alone in a room with the two-

“Hey Cheshy, what was the bumpkin's name again?” Harley asks, wiggling her tasseled hat as she nudges a corpse with her foot.

“I don't know. I was here for a night, not a semester.” A woman in a cat-like mask answers in a disgruntled tone, folding her arms over a the jade gi covering her tactical armor. Her wild hair extends far beyond the frame of her mask, it's like she's out of some 80s music video.

“Billy Numerous, according to Lady Black's intel. Harley, be a dear and...” The third woman trails off as she sits at on of the lunch tables, pushing aside a corpse to make room for her laptop.

She's at least four feet tall, but by no means a child. She's currently wearing a big, dark hoodie over her small frame as her tiny hands stretch out from the large sleeves to type away at her computer. Under her neon blue hime-cut rests a pair of thick framed glasses and a medical mask covering her mouth, and from the edges of the mask are the hints of some kind of scaring.

“... Now. Go and get my Lieutenant while the drone patrol moves. Careful, don't let those things suck out your scrambled brains.” She orders.

“You got it Koochie-sam-ah!” Harley chirps, giving a playful salute as she skips out of the adjacent door.

“She's lucky she's cute...” The girl mumbles, continuing to type away.

You're confused by what you're seeing. Is that small woman the same one who blew apart that gang-banger's head at the coffee shop? Who the hell was able to farm a coherent team between these people? And where did the cat-masked girl go?

“I'm behind you. Don't move.”

Her chilling voice and firm hands on Raven's and your shoulders almost cause you to rise up and fight back, but luckily you two are smart enough to remain calm even in moment like this. Whoever this woman was, if she wanted to try and kill you by now she would've done it.

She leans her masked face in closer, kneeling down with you both behind the table as she watches the woman at the computer.

In a hushed tone, she asks a questions that puzzles you.

“What are you idiots doing here, and where's Battery?”

That's all for this week's thread! Thank you so much for participating!
How do you anons feel about where things are going? Feel free to let me know!
As always, I'll be around for questions and bullying!

>>2115404
It was a bit mean of me, but that was more of a DC to save Starfire's eye rather than yours. Sorry for being a stinker.
>>
>>2115452
So wait, if we failed, Starfire would have lost her eye, but because we 'passed', we lost Blackfire's eye instead?

Fuck you dude, that's fucking bullshit.
>>
>>2115452
Can Blackfire do eye beams anymore?
Is it just one beam?

>>2115456

My intent was more trying to make a excuse for Blackfire. since she won't admit she saved her sister because she likes her.
