Quest Intro

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student, fifteen years old. You used to be the third woman to carry the mantle of the magical guardian of love and justice known as Sailor Moon, after your mother and older sister. A year and a half ago you had a traumatic experience fighting the corpse of the father of your best friend, struggled victory leaving you thinking you had killed the man you had set out to save and prompting you to abandon your heritage. More than that, the relating emotional collapse lead you to abandoning yourself. Developing disguises and personas to inhabit and do the things you could not in secret, to live while you let yourself wither, you carried on.

Now you know the truth and have been taking measures to put yourself back together, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones. More than that you’ve been doing your best to support your younger sister, Koyomi, as she has become the fourth to carry the title as Sailor New Moon.

Quest Start

It's been a few days since you began your arts and crafts projects and the others began organizing their surveillances of the four shadows in one of the parks near Infinity Academy and of the general goings on at the Big Shell sports complex. After school you’ve been splitting your time between three places as you work on a pair of items meant for the friends without magic of their own who have become a part of your extended conflict.

Your mind drifts to purpose and experience as you figured out just what you would be making. Something just a bit wondrous for each of them, uniforms for your court that serve specific and determined function. And after your brief planning phase of these tools, you split your time between three places with dual purpose.

For Sasha’s you have sat in the shade of the purifying tree, an intersection of leylines which represents protection and cleansing. It’s magic still causes irritation to some of the lingering effects of darkness within you, but that isn’t quite so important right now. Thinking back to the incident at Tokyo Tower, you think the energies in this place will most benefit your friend should he come to blows against enemies capable of such corruption again.

For Saori Umeki’s you sneak your way into the obscuring spring in the depths beneath Zodiac Academy for Girls, an intersection of leylines which you know to have certain obfuscating qualities that you have made fair use of in the past. Here, you soak and imbue fabric and thread in these mystic waters. Given your spymasters proclivities, the boon this will offer her will be both useful but casually terrifying.

Their components so imbued, you eventually conduct the actual assembly with the pristine supernatural workspace afforded you by your access to Tomoe-Sensei’s laboratory beneath Infinity Academy. There your work is supported by the experience of your mentor and her father, both versed in magic and the near to hidden sciences related to them.

Its is all difficult work, and when not in school it consumes most of your focus. You easily enough receive updates from your surveillance teams, but there is still the matter of the remaining school days of this week before you get the bulk of your work done on Sunday. Thursday and Friday your lunches were spent getting caught up during your now customary war council, during which your spymaster was ecstatic to learn you were working on something for her.

Though you also spent time at school, hanging out during free period, with…

Welcome aboard!
And these choices sound good, it feels like awhile since we've spent time with either.

Given a third choice, I'd tack in Saori for training, but maybe we can pass that along to another. Our Jadeite Knight might be able to provide advice via Jadeite on maintaining cover and disguises.
>>
>>2119679
That's not exactly the kind training you recently promised your Spy Master, but that's for after the immediate active crop of operations resolve.
>>
Still, while we're waiting/working/prewriting how is everyone doing this evening?
>>

Doing alright. Playing Wolfenstein II and procrastinating on cleaning.

Anyhow, I've been writing. It might be a long update.

Despite the massive out of class time investment you’ve been putting into things, there are still things going on you manage to keep appraised of, both in the general social scape of school and your friends.

The surveillance of the four shadow girls nets little of their outside movement and activities, at first, considering they are heavily and actively hunkering down. By the deft hands of your Knights, augmented by their magics and Kairi-chan’s borrowed equipment, they are able to set up small button cams in the sewer tunnels around the hidden hovel they are watching.

Especially when they were able to secret a microphone into the heart of their tense huddle.

“They must be good peoples,” Diana confirms from her volunteered for mission, “They were nice, if scared, and gave good scritches,”

“They really don’t know what they’re doing beyond surviving,” Midori explains over lunch, mid yawn as she pops the tab of a canned coffee.

More than that, your earlier prodding seems to have spurred some action in another means as toward the end of that very meeting your cluster of lunchtime desks is approached by Gai Ginja, asking Kairi-chan if she would like to take lunch with him.

Doing well to contain your snicker, you watch as Kairi-chan excuses herself from your gather to talk to the boy. And the two of them depart.

Later that day, during free period, you catch up with Kairi-chan. Rather as soon as the bell sounds you are at her desk and turning a nearby vacated chair to face her with a spreading cheshire grin across your face. The classmate who had literally just stood up is a bit shocked at this turn of events and the theft of the chair they were leaving behind in the classroom.

From Princess No to energetic social butterfly in just a few short weeks.

“We need to do something,” you declare, “Like anything, unrelated to everything else we’ve been dealing with and just for fun!”

“What brought this on?” Kairi-chan laughs while tucking an unfamiliar flower, you bet from one of Gai Ginja’s gardens.

“Because we’re friends and we haven’t done anything in awhile,” you grouse, “Outside of dealing with world saving efforts and my problems,”

“Well, we’ve dealt with my problems too,” she figures and sighs, “Hmmm...When I’m not busy Sunday I can hang out while you’re working on stuff for Umeki-san and Sasha-kun?”

“Sounds like a plan,” you nod firmly, “Speaking of busy though...”

The other day she did mention that she might have had weekend plans with Gai, after your prodding on the matter, when not running relief and supply runs for the park stake out.

“...what are your plans for the rest of the weekend?” you question with all the subtlety of your mother at a dessert bar.

“Ginja-san and I have a date,” she notes simply and with feigned matter of fact recitation, “Saturday evening, we’re seeing a movie,”
>>
>>2120096

“Excellent, you’ll have to tell me how things go,” you cross your arms with pride in your earlier work.

“Well, it’ll be a welcome distraction from everything else,” she leans in to whisper, “Including since meeting my little brother,”

“How is everything with all that?” you question, cautiously and with matched quiet, “Like, are you okay to talk about it?”

“I think so now,” she nods, “And its, in progress. I’m upset mom kept this from me, but I get it...not entirely happy about it but I get it. And, and I am happy that he’s alive,”

The two of you chat readily for the rest of free period through to the end of the day. Breaking away from everyone at club time you make your way tonight toward Zodiac Academy for Girls. Skulking about, you make your way down into the dark and the secret place you discovered when you fought Gammu. It isn’t even late afternoon when you arrive.

The node of earth power here will serve as your focus for imbuing magic into your planned gift to Saori Umeki.

It is dark and quiet here, save for the faint glow and twinkling your presence causes in the wellspring of water. Amid this place’s soothing energies and presence, you begin.

Fabric, thread, your brief sketches for this intention, and other materials gained from the lounge in the Crowne Arcade. These things you let soak in these energies and water while you slowly guide their and your own energies into them. It requires most of your concentration as you begin the barest action of physical assembly to in part bind these magics within. This depth and focus lets the time fly by...and before long it is after dark.

Skulking out, you allow yourself to be seen on campus and in this neighborhood under the guise of the Red Eyed Beast before you make your way home for the night. You do not run into any of the Primroses that evening.

The next day progresses well enough. Breakfast with your present family, learning that this time Kalyke was asleep on top of Koyomi.

You get updated on the stake outs and investigations during lunch again.

In regard to the park, about the interactions between the four shadow ‘siblings’ as they style amongst themselves. The nervousness, the tension, and their movements as they are again poking around in the world. Sticking to the shadows, and the paths they take under and above ground. Keiko figures that a peace offering of food when confronting them will go a long way.

In regard to the Big Shell investigation, Saori reports that she and Sasha actually saw Amazonite again. Posing as a collegiate athletic recruiter to garner information on the fighters for the upcoming Aiba tournament. They’ve uncovered she’s trying to schedule meetings with various competitors, likely to guage emotional stability. She and Sasha are hatching a plan for when she approaches him when he’s there for actual event filing and paperwork.

Free period brings you to seeking out Yoshi. The other day, during back and forth about this or that, Kairi-chan asked if you too were going to “Live for now,” as you had suggested to her in justification regarding your meddling.

Things are going well for the two of you now, you think. You’ve both admitted a lot to one another; and even if he doesn’t show it you imagine that your secrets must carry a certain weight. And one of the best ways to mitigate that may be to be normal together.

“Excuse me, class rep?” you approach his desk with a sing song cadence, “Could I borrow you for a minute,”

“Ah, sure Mikage,” he doesn’t quite fluster, but he is surprised as he packs his papers back into his school bag before hanging it from his desk, “Is everything alright today?”

“Everything is fine, come on,” you gesture toward the door, as you’d not rather have your conversations or time with one another in front of everyone.

Not after the ridiculousness that was the other day when you were listening to him play his guitar in the parking lot.

As the two of you leave the classroom, you glance over to Saori, your eyes pleading that she not follow this time. Her reply is an unspoken “what did I do?” before she snaps in realization.

Heading this time for the roof, because the list of places you really can go is rather small, you beckon him to the bench beside the stairwell and sit down. There are a few students on the roof, but this section is usually pretty private.

“So, what did you want to talk about?” he questions whilst sitting beside you.

“Anything, nothing, everything,” you muse a moment and lean into his side before saying with a decided tease to your voice, “Maybe I just wanted to spend time with you,”

Like previous times, it’s nice to just sit with Yoshi and chat about your days. Nothing too in depth or revealing to either of your otherwise public secrets, save for one brief line on one such matter.

“So, have you made a decision about telling your mother?” you question finally, “About your extracurricular activities?”

“Hmm, yes,” he sighs, “I’m going to tell her,”

You brighten at that, mischief playing across your face.

“When, I would love to be around when you tell her?” you remind of your earlier interest.

“I’ll get back to you on the when,” he takes on his more customary unflappable nature, “I’ve been getting more nervous about it, all things considered,”

“Getting cold feet about the reveal, Yoshi?” you question, “If you want pointers I know a thing or two about revealing secrets,”

He laughs at that.

“If you’re nervous about something you already decided you were ready to do you should just go for it,” you reason, “Like pulling off a bandaid,”

“Should I, now?” he questions evenly while shifting his arm around your waist.

You consider making plans when both of you again have free time. Perhaps even an actual date.

When the day comes to its end, you make your way across the city with your supplies to the park. Crossing the barrier with the briefest leap through available shadows into the presence of the great and bound tree. Its presence weighs on you, but the knowledge that it is possessed of ability against corruption means it will suite your purpose for Sasha’s gift.

Unwinding the thread and fabrics, you tie it around the tree as best you can. Leaning against the tree you meditate on these things and your own energies in this place you are so attuned to. The park, a preserve in the city, serves well for such meditation on these energies until the sun hangs low and your manipulations and engravings of energies hold tight within these materials.

Saturday is a half day, and your morning goes easily enough getting to school. When you arrive there is a strange heaviness in the air which you can’t quite place.

Gathering for homeroom, you check in with your friends and prepare for the shorter day. Though before the bell, whilst your class rep is preparing his normal morning routine, your Principal enters the classroom.

“Good morning everyone, Toriko-sensei is taking a short absence, so today I will be introducing your substitute homeroom teacher,” Principal Sakurada gestures for someone else to enter the room.

She enters gracefully, in a pencil skirted suit and matching jacket. Long black hair and piercing eyes as she smiles to the class, and that odd heavy presence you felt earlier. She offers a short bow and approaches the white board.

“Good morning students, I am Kinzoku-sensei,” she scribes the Kanji for her name on the board, “Please take care of me,”

Something about this woman puts you slightly on edge...but you can’t place what.

This can’t be a coincidence, and if it is you won’t leave it to chance. There is a familiarity to this woman as she allows Yoshi to continue pre homeroom duties. You reach out with your telepathy to the others.

Asking if anyone notices anything strange about the new teacher, especially any recollection from attached spirits, nets a mix of responses. Midori and Kairi can peg nothing, even under suspicions raised they notice nothing out of the ordinary with the aid of their mentor spirits. Keiko notes she feels the same strange and unfamiliar pressure as you. Saori immediately suggests that strange substitute teachers and transfer students should never be trusted unless they are secret allies.

Well, no second guessing this.

Leaning into your ability to discern hidden details about beings the slow trickle of information opens to you as she begins to hold class.

As she takes the podium, you become aware of how experienced she is relative to you. Her threat level as it were...and she is approximately an even challenge to where you are in your growth into power.

That gives you immediate pause. To be that, she can’t be a normal teacher.

“So, we’ll be going over a few school announcements before I take over the first class after homeroom,” she explains with a smile while taking in the room.

You are aware of the flow of magic within her, the capacity to cast spells and wield the forces of magic brimming from a shining core in her being. She isn’t as fragile as a normal human for certain, again a stability and resistance to mortal harm from that same shining core among other minor defenses as litany not unlike those possessed by yourself, Keiko, or the girls. There is no doubt in your mind, she is a Sailor Senshi.

“So please take care of me,” she offers through a genuine smile but it’s all white noise as the world falls away.

You stare deeper, and find within her a resistance to the void of space and the power of flight.

You share your findings with the others. Saori mentally cheers over your telepathic connection, exulting in how right she was.

“How do we play this?” questions Keiko from behind you, in whisper rather than mind.

“Like normal,” sliding your phone from your skirt pocket, you whisper, “For now, I’m keying Artemis in on this,”

Able to send what information you can, you leave it in Artemis’s hands for now. That mystery woman and your mysterious teacher may be one and the same...but for now you have more pressing concerns.

When class lets out for the afternoon, you’ve clued everyone in on not letting this distract them. Even conferring to Ginja-san that the new teacher is decidedly more than she appears, though whether she means harm or not is still unknown. As you leave the school grounds after goodbyes and conversations with your friends, and acquire an inkling of when might be a good time to swing by the Sakurada house to witness Yoshi’s ousting of his comparatively less insane secret life to his mother, you make your way to Infinity Academy after retrieving your materials.

You are joined in transit by Saori Umeki, heading that way to join up with Sasha to begin their own work.

“Sasha thinks she’ll approach him today,” she asserts with confidence, regarding Amazonite’s ongoing ruse, “when he drops off his latest files and does some preliminary physical stuff,”

“It’s a bit risky,” you muse, “Has there been any clear signs whether or not she’s done anything to any of the others?”

“Not yet, no,” your spymaster shrugs, “And I’ll be a fly on the wall if I can help it. Get a message out if it looks like trouble,”

Nodding at that, you open up your bag and opt not to waste the full length of the train ride. While talking to Saori you look over your notes for the task ahead; notebook full of drawn magic sigils, celestial patterns, magical principles and applied concepts for these assemblies. You pause to consider just what these tools will mean.

These uniforms.

This is a step further from just magical girls and mystical knights contending with evil. This is a solidification of your recruitment. Building something that wasn’t to counteract the spread of the evil you face and to be prepared for the future. Does this mark a beginning that ends somewhere…

Glancing over at your Spy Master, you are building a court to attend your purposes, you consider just what you’ve truly gotten this girl into as she looks across your shoulder and at your book, eyes a twinkle with curiosity at the astrology redefined beneath your pen.

Your conversation is normal enough, just correcting her misconceptions about how to actually flirt with someone, reading a mood and not jumping to conclusions, and picking her brain about how this lines up with things she’s learning from her ongoing modeling training. You did promise to teach her how to at least play matchmaker for herself, and this serves as the preliminary.

Stepping off the train the two of you cross into the Infinity Academy campus, three towers and uniquely arranged grounds towering above in specific and supernatural design. The grounds are still flush with activity, offering more robust post class activities and facilities during the Saturday half day. At least more so than your school has to offer.

Saori begins to break off, saying Sasha told her to meet up with him outside one of one of the other buildings, as you start to veer toward the elevator to the secret labs beneath. Though you pause and look after her. Last time you saw Sasha, there were probably a few things that needed talking about. You remember the conflict and hesitance on his face before he left the young Senshi’s previous training session.

Give Saori the full rundown. She'll probably enjoy learning that we have a friend pinning for him and that he's been oblivious to it.
..and that we may have teased him as the Beast before she came back into the fold.. and indulged Miki after her return.. and that said friend may have seen that.
Basically we muddied the water and even if we're worried about that, he's probably worried about something else entirely like his sister or the task at hand.

“Say, Saori,” you call out to your friend, turning briefly away from the path you need to pursue, “Since you’ve been spending the past few days working with Sasha; has he seemed okay?”

Your Spy Master pauses and turns back to face you, a curious scrutiny in her eyes as she closes the distance between you.

“How do you mean?” she questions and gauges with care.

“Well, it's just,” you sigh and huff before walking over to a nearby garden retaining wall that stops high enough to sit on, “I guess everything…”

Giving Saori a full recounting of events between yourself and Sasha, and the complex geometric shape you sat in and its extension from you, Kairi-chan, Yoshi, Sasha, and the friend of yours who was obviously pining after him, Moe Ueda. Bringing up your teasing of them when they showed up for the Damned concert, her seeing you hanging out with Sasha as Miki a few days later. The general state of things, and perhaps your guilt over some things may have or may be playing out.

During this entire time, Saori watches you with increasingly wide eyes. When you finish your tale she takes a moment to think.

“I honestly don’t know,” she finally responds, “He seems to wear his heart on his sleeve, and he only wears the sleeves of the moment,”

“Never mind, I shouldn’t be dumping this all on you,” you offer, “I mean, is he frustration with me, or the whole of everything going on?”

“Well he’s definitely annoyed monsters may attack his tournament,” Saori nods, “LIke triple mad about that for absolutely certain. Although…”

“Although what?”

She hums to herself a moment.

“He hasn’t really talked about this Ueda-san, or anything outside of shop since I’ve been shadowing him,” she considers, “Very goal and scenario focused,”

“Well, if he can do that,” you feel a relief under any pangs of guilt you let yourself have, “I’ll see you later, Saori, be safe,”

She nods, offering a sharp nod and a very noticeable wink to you before she runs off. Oh the ideas that come out of that girl’s head when you provide input.

Still, you return to the course at hand.

To the lab, and your work therein

Interlude: After class.

“It’s okay, I’ll finish up here so you don’t miss your train,” you offer while leaning on the broom and making sure to play the task off as nothing to be concerned about as your classmate bows thankfully.

“I really appreciate it, Class Rep,” they say before rising and darting for the door.

Saturday, being a half day, is always the light day on the classroom cleanup schedule. Both in terms of the number of people placed and the amount of work that needs to be done. You always made sure you were on it among your other duties for the class, and you habitually let the person with you go early, if only to get some alone time.

After cleanup it gives you the opportunity to work on your compositions undisturbed for a bit, or just reflect. Today you have more than a little to reflect on.

Your name is Yoshi Sakurada, and your life has become more than a little complicated lately.

With a sigh, you sweep the last of the dust pile into the pan and walk it over to the waste basket.

Things are going well for you, you think, despite that complication. You’ve gained context for a defining moment of your young life, and regained someone you thought you lost. Even though perhaps she had been there the whole time…

Learning what you’ve learned about Mikage Chiba, you really still have little idea how to process it all. Even days later. Although, it makes you happy to see her acting more like herself. And perhaps happy that she actively wants to spend time with you.

Well, tonight you have rehearsal. It will be good to play and blow off some of your steam and frustration.

As you begin unstacking the desks and returning them to their usual locations, there is a knock upon one of the classrooms open doors.

“Good afternoon. It’s Sakurada-san, yes?” comes a voice as you turn to see your new substitute teacher.

“Yes. Good afternoon, Kinzoku-sensei,” you offer politely.

“I was wondering if I could get some feedback from you about the classes I covered today, and perhaps pick your brain about our homeroom,” she smiles and crosses the room, stumbling a bit and dropping a few papers she was holding.

“Oh, please, let me,” you kneel down to begin scooping up papers and helping her reorganize them, “What did you need to know?”

Interlude End.

Interlude: Menu Options

As you part ways from Chiba-san, you siddle to the side of the walkway to watch as she goes. And as she does you think she walks a little heavier for the conversation had.

Still, that was a pretty impressive info dump about her extended relationship dramas. As it happens you know exactly what you need to do with that information as well.

“Fufufu,” you laugh to yourself as you begin drawing the mental map of the assorted who, to whom, and from where in your head.

Given what you were figuring out about your friend when you thought her a witch, this map is easily just redrawn from that and with a few points removed and added.

You are Saori Umeki, and armed with this information about the petit boxer with whom you’ll be working this afternoon you know exactly what you must do.

Dashing over to the other academic building, you spy the boy in question sitting on the stairs and looking at his phone. Bored in waiting.

There is a melancholic look to him as you watch, similarly hidden to when you watched Chiba-san depart. Hmmm...you think you remember this Ueda girl she was talking about. From the unrepentant damned concert.

And she goes here...hmmm. If you know your narratives, and by rote and practice you do, you do a casual slow sweep of all the other convenient vantage points on this part of the courtyard between the campus buildings.

Ahah! There she is. You remember her, even though you were drinking that night. You especially remember that teddy bear backpack.

Approaching cautiously from behind, you note the girl is wound pretty tightly.

“Hey,” you say casually after sidling up beside her and joining her hidden observation of Sasha, “Stalk here often?”

Quest Start

You’ve been in the lab for maybe an hour at this point. Cutting and measuring the fabric pieces, lining things up, and hand stitching both thread and supernatural energies in the patterns to suit your requirements for these items.

Both are uniforms not unlike those worn by the original Shintennou, and the undead interlopers upon the present. Simple gray military outfits with colored accents.

For Saori you chose turquoise accents. For Sasha, you chose gold for memory of his partial hosting of the Golden Crystal fragment. They will serve your purpose well enough.

“Hmmm, Hotaru-chan did say you’d be hard at work down here,” a voice calls from the door to this workshop of the hidden lab complex.

Glancing back, you see the elder professor Tomoe. Your mentor’s father, and a long time ago the victim of an extended monstrous possession during your mother’s tenure as Sailor Moon. He sips from a mug of coffee, labeling him as the “World’s Most Possessed Dad,” and crosses the room.

“Oh, don’t stop on my account. Please keep working,” the white haired man waves and comes to a stop beside the work table, “I’m always so fascinated by less overt displays of magic,”

Nodding, you continue with your work. If you can finish the assembly today, you can finalize the enchantments by returning to the places of power you’ve imbued each piece with.

He grabs a nearby stool and drags it to the table’s edge. Taking a moment to adjust his glasses, a strange seal appears on one of the lenses, perhaps now he is literally watching the magic you are working with.

“Artemis tells me you’re running a surveillance operation on some of these Chaos shadows that are acting completely autonomous from their original hosts,” he says casually whilst taking a sip, “One’s who abandoned the party line, as it were,”

>Yes, the others are doing so now before we approach them

“If you want to press me for information,” you present a golden threaded needle to the professor, “grab a needle and at least help out,”

He looks first at the needle and then over to you, before nodding and setting his mug down. Professor Tomoe scoots the stool over and takes the thread, and begins following the chalk marks you set on the fabric.

“Diplomatic,” he hums to himself, “And a fair tradeoff I suppose,”

“You want the chance to examine them,” you question back, “Don’t you?”

He nods, and manages to stab his thumb with the thread. Not deep enough to draw blood considering his extensive body of work and experience have left him with a certain visible callousness.

“Well certainly,” he squeezes and flexes the digit, “The opportunity to actually gather extended data on a shadow would be prescient, wouldn’t it? I mean we’ve already made leaps and bounds from your own physical and the study of Kalyke while she was still in our care,”

You offer a curt nod and continue sewing, as the older scientist continues to speak, perhaps loosening more information about this matter and his intentions as further payment in intelligence for whatever it is that you will offer.

“How so?” you ask as you cut and mark another piece of fabric.

“Dark Matter theory,” he shrugs, “Understanding Chaos is also identifying it, and I strongly suspect despite all we’ve observed of it, that it doesn’t fully exist within our immediate understanding of the universe,”

“I thought that was most of magic anyhow,” you muse.

“Yes and no,” he bobs his head.

Artemis probably already told him your plans. You don’t doubt he’s also pressed to be looped into the surveillance feed. You don’t answer his question regarding what you plan to do, but do at least offer your built opinion on the matter.

“They’re good girls,” you say with a certain morose tone, “I don’t think they want to hurt anybody, and I don’t want to hurt them,”
>>
>>2121697

“Nor should they be,” he sighs, “With what Artemis has told me, I’m allocating some Foundation resources toward establishing their official existences once the ball gets rolling. Though I hope they realize just how remarkable they are, even if they used other life forms as a template they are something unique. And that uniqueness may help us better understand the universe,”

“Well, even if we get them peacefully I’m not sure how keen they’ll be on being poked and prodded by a mad scientist,” you offer and thread another needle turquois, “No offense meant,”

“Please, do offend,” he shrugs, “I think the destruction I did manage to cause in the past qualifies me for that designation. I’m quite at peace with it,”

You nod at that, unsure of how to proceed with the well humored old man.

“How is Tomoe-sensei?” you question, having not seen her in a few days.

Actually, you haven’t seen her since Kalyke’s purification.

“Hotaru-chan is well, now that she doesn’t have to near constantly observe our sleeping guest, she’s been taking care of her administrative functions at the school and her practice,” he muses a bit, holding up the sleeve he had been working on and folding the cuff, “Also I think she has been developing quite the friendship with Helios, since they’ve both for the time being lost your older sister,”

“Where does she find the time,” you smile, and then frown, “Seriously, where? She is busy all the damn time,”

“I’m pretty sure she’s borrowed some from Meio-san,” he laughs.

Your work continues like this. Professor Tomoe proves good company, and his help quickens the construction of your project. He even offers his expertise on your binding equations and methodology, saying to come up with this much on your own study was quite impressive.

Packing these supplies, after running the completed garments through some of the equipment in the lab for various purposes beyond the understanding of present science, you make your way home for the evening.

Checking your messages, you find all surveillance is going apace. The shadow girls were poking their heads out into the park with caution, Sasha said he and Umeki-san have a meeting with Amazonite’s cover on Monday, and Artemis had responded that he was tracking your substitute teacher.

And that her paper trail literally just appeared out of thin air, as if by magic.

Artemis’s last message states that he would like to accompany you to school on Monday, because after school is over she all but vanishes and isn’t actually living where her paperwork indicates.

So much to do, you muse, as you come home.

It isn’t long before you’re upstairs and on top of your covers. Today was long, you think. And perhaps draining, but you still have some energy left. Still, the past couple of days have felt more...normal...than even your aggrieved and aggressive desire for it when you were shutting everyone out.

>Call Kairi-chan, see how things went with Gai and figure out where you’ll meet up tomorrow
>Call Keiko to see how her ongoing surveillance shift is going
>Call Yoshi to chat for a bit, about what?

Well, you aren’t shutting anyone else out now. In fact, you feel like reaching out.

Reaching out…

An unexpected thought touches you. The way you’ve grown in power through all of this, and the changes to your senses and perception…

Looking out your window, at the moon in part wrapped in the shadow of its cycle, you decide to reach out.

Unlocking and opening the window, you lightly step out onto the shingles atop the kitchen. WIth a near weightless jump you communicate yourself to the top of the house, feet bare on the cold ceramic tiles. Sitting down gently, you take a calming breath and work to hone and focus your ability and reach. You know the limits of your local telepathy, but what if you try to push yourself beyond that?

You won’t know unless you try. Closing your eyes you enter a meditative focus.

Becoming idly aware of the mental presences of Luna, Kyomi, your father, and the strange static presence that is Kalyke, you gather your energies and imagine the moon and your mother’s face. If this works, you’ll invite dad in on this.

It’s so far away, and you have no idea what it would do to try and stretch your mind and heart this far, but everyone’s been looking for a way to secret a message to her and the others so why not this?

>You are at Full MP, Vitality, Emotional Wall, with Zero Stress and Zero Wounds. You have all of your Mythic Powers. You have no idea how spending these resources, by shunting them into your telepathic ability and your psychometric sensitivity will affect this attempt. Please note how much of each you would be willing to spend on this for each of those resources as follows.

>None

>All

>Note that for Stress and Wounds you can accumulate above their limits, and may express that as well with the Phrase “Over” along with the fraction over you would like to go. Remember if your Wounds value of twice your max, death will occur. Remember if your Stress values at twice the value of your max, you are unconscious. Being over either while both your Emotional Wall or Vitality are at Zero can also risk losing consciousness.

You see me rolling. Let's see how this goes.
>>
You unload on all the magical energies inside of yourself into this reaching. And then you pour more, as tired as you are you have energy left to burn for this purpose, and the thinning stretch of your mind rends at the edge but does not threaten to snap. You taste copper in the back of your mouth as blood also trickles down your lips.

Though by this point you are hardly aware of it anymore. Your mind races forward in the aether, through the sky, to the edge of the void. All the while thinking of your mother’s face. Reaching out for her. Trying to find her.

There is a certain awareness the higher you go, the thinner the world seems. The gravity of the world behind you is an anchor, but it disperses your focus. Above the moon is so great and large, but still so far away. Ever farther away.

You’re falling. You’re falling and your mother’s face remains at the front of your mind.

What she means to you. Everything she’s taught you. Every warm smile, every hug, every worried call of your name.

Falling away from the moon, crying out for your mother, you turn upon the earth. It’s curve and distance clear to you. Still you think of your mother, and taking in the breadth of the world beneath of you…

You feel her mark and her presence.

The world is flush with her passing. If not as Usagi Chiba then as Sailor Moon. Gratitude and memory. An eternal impression upon the world, even those who don’t know her name. Especially near where you will yet fall too, the memories of her presence in your sister, your father, your family.

You are falling, but you haven’t come back down to Earth or yourself yet.

What do you have yet to muster?

No, you still have something left in you. Pushing yourself, pushing your connection you burn through the energy within your core. Within your heart. Within your soul. Empowered by the Earth beneath you and the moon above you.

You grasp hard onto that tether. You strengthen it, and you erupt along it.

A few tiles shudder around you, one or two loose ones begin to float.

Bursting along at the speed of thought, a wake of Planet Power in your wake, the moon looms greater ahead of you.

Your innards twist in pain, but you do not feel it.

The gray and white ahead blots out the void, fills your vision until you zero in on a singular presence. Nothing else matters, nothing else stands in your way.

The trickle down your lips gives way to a coughing flow.

Through void. Through Steel. Through stone.

Your heart races.

You make your connection.

“Mom,”

“Mikage?”

>Apologies, I should have been more clear.
Unfortunately, this is a rather serious point, since it’s not like we know anyone who can make wounds just magically go away or anything.
>However was the presentation suitably dramatic?
Indeed it was.
>>
>>2123123
That said, suitably dramatic though this was, if we do this again we should talk to professor Tomoe and Tomoe-sensei about building some sort of telepathic range extender.
While we’re at it, we can tell professor Tomoe that being a mad scientist means that bad puns and other assorted silliness is required of him.
>>
I'm concerned that I may have gotten us killed.

>>2123684
Rest assured. You have not. And thanks to Mythic you could be a point shy of twice max wounds and literally sleep off being at the edge of death.

No, but that is pretty much my point. Being a mad scientist, as opposed to just a scientist, means never having to act mature unless you want to.
>>
>>2123760
Remember what it says on his coffee mug? I think he's got that covered.
