After killing the orc Ghorlorz, you take some time to rest. Despite his injuries, Ulric awakens.

Ulric: "He got me good, I'm sorry I wasn't any help"

>For destroying your enemies you gain 1000 XP
>You now have 6025
>You are now level 4

>Looting the corpse you pick up:
Iron Halberd
Iron Heavy Axe
Iron War Hammer
Orc Crossbow

>"Are you alright? Do you need help walking?"

>"We learned some disturbing information from this creature. When we return to town we must discuss the orc threat"

Can we get a comparison of our current hammer and the iron warhammer? And how good would we be with a halberd? And are orcs commonly found using crossbows?
>>
>>2156049
The hammers are identical. The halberd uses the stabbing skill, like a stronger version of a spear. You don't really know how many crossbows the Aflor orcs have.

Ulric: "I'm fine, i'll walk it off"

>"We learned some disturbing information from this creature. When we return to town we must discuss the orc threat"

Ulric: "Yeah we should really do something to help Clarcton"

You return to Appleby, but as you reach the proximity 2 men and a boy rush over to you.

"Christof! I caught you! So you think you can just steal Alina huh?"

Alina: "Dad!? I joined these adventurers on my own!"

"I don't care. Once I'm done teaching this pipsqueak a lesson, your mother and I are having a *stern* conversation with you!"

He starts flailing his morning star and advancing towards you.

>"Actually sir. Christof is my evil twin, I'm Christophe and have rescued your daughter from him" (bluff 18%)
>"Back off old man, you're no match for all of us" (intimidate 15%)

You are now level 4
You have 20 unspent skill points
Note: After a skill reaches 100 it costs 2 skill points to advance it by 1

>"I'm not stealing her, we're just on a really long date"

"When I said you can try and date her I didn't think she'd actually say yes!"

Alina: "But uh this isn't *actually* a date"

>"Isn't your daughter old enough to make her own life decisions?"

"Obviously not if she makes decisions like joining a dingus like you on some stupid quest. Adventuring is far too dangerous for her"

Alina: "I'm not a little girl any more. You're acting like a lunatic!"

Salaman: "Why do peasants always try and stop us from taking their daughters as apprentices?"

>"...You brought a kid to fight?"

Kid: "I'm not a kid, I'm THIRTEEN! Give us back Ali!"

The guy with the spear engages Ulric who at the moment is just defending himself but not retaliating.
Father swings his flail at you but misses.
Salaman casts Summon Creature II, summoning a Salamite.

Salaman addresses his summoned minion "Take out, err I mean hold off the kid." The Salamite moves to engage the child.

Persuade sounds good. If I learned something from fallout, is that being good with words can get you very far and even get bonuses otherwise unavailable for pure power builds.

You increase your persuade skill to 59

Alina: "Dad, Uncle Alden, Ricket! Please stop. I don't want you to get hurt."

"Hush Alina, you don't know what's best for yourself"

>"Be reasonable, what do you hope to accomplish here? Even if you beat us and take Alina back home she will just leave again. You can't just keep her prisoner. She's an adult and can make her own decisions"

Alina: "I'm sorry I just left without saying anything. But I knew you wouldn't let me leave. The truth is I hate being a basket girl in Appleby, I want to go out on adventures like you did when you were my age. That's why when Christof told me you gave him permission to take me, I took the opportunity to leave. I don't think I'd ever get another chance"

"Alina... I didn't realize you felt this way. I was just trying to protect you, being an adventurer can be so dangerous. Imagine if you ran into a throng of bandits! If you really want to go, I wont stop you."

Alina: "Thanks dad, that means a lot to me"

"Here ya go 350 Talons. Congrats on taking out that orc. Oh by the way. That giant slime you found has been assessed and is available for a 100 Talon bounty."

Might we take "Message" as it's the only spell we have a shot of casting?
What does it do? Long distance communication?

Does Salaman already have Mage Armor?
If not, we should have him get it.
>>
>>2157369
You ask Salaman and he says he already has Mage Armour.
"Message allows you and a target to whisper to each other from up to 100 feet away. It's almost impossible to eavesdrop on it"
>>
>>2157369
Supporting Message, it's only 10 talons. Could be time to buy two helmets for Christof and Ulric, but we could do that after we figure our game plan for the orcs out.

How does the scroll of teleportation work?
>>
>>2157379
>"Message allows you and a target to whisper to each other from up to 100 feet away. It's almost impossible to eavesdrop on it"
Okay, get that.
Even if it fails, it's a possible tool in our bag.

Could we use it, if successful, to whisper in an unfriendly's ear to distract them, or something?
Or would it be an obvious magic spell to them?
Some magic is more obvious than others.
>>
>>2157398
Yes it can be used on unfriendly targets. The spell transmits sound. It's not obvious the sound is being transmitted by a spell.
>>
>>2157391
>Could be time to buy two helmets for Christof and Ulric, but we could do that after we figure our game plan for the orcs out.
Supporting this right back.
Might want to drop a talon to pick up some paint to give our helmets some style too, so we can tell each other apart, plus it's cool.

Alina: "I'm pretty happy with what i've got. Nice armour, nice bow, some special arrows plus I can just keep using your spellbook. How about you Sally?"
Salaman: "It's Salaman. And yes I have requests." Salaman unfolds a crumpled piece of paper, "First of all I want you to stop destroying the tents, I mean. Seriously. Enough is enough. I also want to continue adding conjuration spells to my spell book, especially the Summon Monster series. Also I don't like staying up at night. You have the Alarm spell and I can maintain summons in my sleep why do we need to keep watch at night?. Also when are we going to move onto larger townships? This is fine. There are certainly worse stats to pump points into...

Not sure about this. We almost party wiped fighting a single Orc...

If we do this it's probably going to involve more persuading the leaders of armies, militias and what-not to band together and fight them...

Alternatively, we could just walk into Clarcton, get captured and try to neutralize the situation from within. Although, just thinking about that is giving me flashbacks of the incident in the bandit camp...

More like, they might best be able to tell us how we could help.
I'm with Salaman on this.
We .eed to do something, because ignoring orcs taking over towns is how you end up conquered. But we don't need to stop them ourselves.
Maybe fo some recon on the way to the paladins.
SAFE recon.

If he doesn't want to do it, remind Salaman this orc collects books, lootable books.
