Today marks the one-year anniversary of Overwatch Quest! It's been a real ride so far. I've been grateful for your support over that time, and I'll continue to be so as the quest continues. To new readers, to the faithful who've followed me for an entire year, and everyone in between; to dedicated voters, lurkers, and archive readers; to everyone: thanks for joining me. I have big plans for the story moving forward, so I hope you'll all stick with me for a second year of science-hero adventuring.Unfortunately I've been unable to run a proper multi-day thread for a few weeks now because of that pesky thing known as real life. But I wanted to at least commemorate the occasion of the quest's first birthday with a short out-of-character bonus chapter or "omake". Here we can unleash our inner weebs and dive headfirst into the glory of Overwatch as a Japanese high school academy. To those of you anxious to advance the real plot, have patience and you wil be rewarded. Like I said, I have big plans for the future which I hope you will enjoy. But right now, it's time for anime!Previous Threads:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Overwatch%20QuestUpdates:https://twitter.com/ravenkingquestsDiscord:https://discord.gg/t7DHUPk
>>2159042Your alarm rings, and you groggily slap at your bedside table until you find your cell phone and turn it off. Yawning as you sit up in bed, you look around at an unfamiliar bedroom. It takes a moment to come back to you just where you are and what you're doing here. You are Logan King, Canadian transfer student, and you've just moved to the wonderful island nation of cultural enrichment that is Japan. Today is the morning of your first day at your new school, Overwatch Gakuen, and you don't want to be late! You get dressed in your school uniform, the gakuran: black pants, white shirt, and a black button-up jacket. You add a personal touch with a purple hoodie under the jacket. Don't want to be lost in the crowd of background characters, after all. After a quick breakfast, you wave goodbye to your cook and butler drones and head out into the street. Your new neighborhood is a peaceful suburb of small houses, and while charming, it proves to be a challenge finding your way through the maze of tiny unmarked streets and utility stairways. You get to what seems like a main road, but have gotten totally turned and have no idea what direction you're facing. Looking around, you see a girl with spiky brown hair running down the sidewalk in your direction. She has a school bag over one shoulder and a piece of toast in her mouth. Is she running and eating that toast at the same time? Is that even possible? You realize she's wearing the girls' uniform from your school and realize you can probably get directions, so you wave and call out to her to stop her. She skids to a stop in front of you."Hiya!" she says. "What can I do for you?">Introduce yourself.>Flirt.>Ask directions.>Ask who you should watch out for at school.>Write-in.

>>2159079>>2159158You say, "Hey, you're from Overwatch, right? I'm new and trying to figure out how to get there. Can you help me out with some directions?""Oh, sure! It's real simple." She points in various directions. "You just go past the convenience store and turn right, three lefts past the first light, straight up the hill and down the stairs, jump over the rail, two rights, and you're there!""Uhhh, thanks." You didn't understand half of that, but you don't want to look stupid in front of a cute girl at your new school. Really cute, actually, now that you take a closer look at her. "Hey, that's the first time I've seen the girls' uniform in person. It looks good." Or maybe that's just you, you think about saying, but can't bite the bullet. The girl giggles as she runs a hand along the hem of her short skirt. "You think so? I tried wearing a boy's uniform, but they wouldn't let me. At least they let me keep my skirt short enough that I can run."Trying your luck, you say, "Since we're going the same way, maybe we can walk to school together.""Sorry, but I've gotta dash. If I'm late one more time Teach said I'll get cleaning duty for a month!" She flips open her cellphone to check the time and looks shocked. "Bloody hell! Better hurry or we'll be late! C'mon, new guy!" With that she dashes off. She turns to wave to you before she rounds the corner by the convenience storeYou jog after her, but she's way too fast and soon disappears. You try to follow her directions, but some of it was confusing as hell and you end up going down several dead ends before finally finding the school gate. Just as it closes.Fortunately you're a somewhat experienced climber, having climbed up many a maple tree as a kid back in Canada. You throw your backpack over the gate, climb up, and drop down into the courtyard. You look around the school buildings with their orderly rows of windows, and realize that although that girl told you how to find the school, you have no clue how to find your classroom. In the center of the courtyard is a big statue of a dude with a chiselled jaw. You're not sure why he's carrying a gun when this is an ordinary high school. Two guys who look like bad news are by the statue. A scrawny kid with spiked hair who looks like he was singed in a fireworks accident is spray-painting something on the back of the statue, while a huge guy in a leather jacket stands to block sight of him from the school windows. As you watch, the punk-looking kid steps back and lets out a giggle like a hungry hyena. "This'll get 'em good, Roadie!" The big guy grunts in response.Back home you were something of a delinquent, but maybe this is your chance to turn things around and become the wholesome student you always wanted to be. >>2159257>>2159366You walk up to the punk kids. The big guy notices your approach and blocks your path like a bouncer."Hold up a second, Roadie," says the scrawny kid, stepping around his large friend. "Let's see what he wants. You must be the transfer, yeah?" "That's me. I like the hair." From this close you realize it's not actually a fashionable haircut, just a tangled nest, but you press on. "I was wondering if you could tell me where my classroom is? I'm in, uh--"The skinny kid laughs. "Listen to that, Roadie. He wants to ask us where his class is." He turns back to you with a manic grin. "Take a good look at us, new kid. You think we give two hoots about class?"The big guy -- Roadie? What kind of a nickname is that? -- grunts and points in your direction."Yeah, I like it," the skinny kid says. "My friend here has a better idea. Name's Junkrat, new kid. This here's the Roadhog. Stick with us and we can show ya how to have fun around here." Junkrat thrusts the spraypaint can into your hands before you can object, and points towards the statue. You see he's been spray-painting over the statue's posterior so it looks like the man's pants have dropped and his butt is hanging out. "Go on, 'ave a go."You were thinking about asking to join in anyway, and now with the can in your hands it's even more tempting. Just as you're trying to make up your mind, though, a girl's voice nearby cuts through your thoughts. "Fawkes! Rutledge!" it shouts with the weight of authority and the sharpness of somebody pissed offThe two punks look like they've heard a ghost. Junkrat says, "Err, we gotta take off, but it was nice meetin' ya, new kid!" With surprising alacrity, the skinny kid and his huge companion disappear into a shadowed corner, leaving you holding the spray can. You drop it and it clatters to the ground, but it's too late.A brown-skinned girl with an armband around her upper arm approaches with a severe look on her face. "What's this? Haven't even made it to your first class and you're already vandalizing the statue of the principal, are you?"You and sputter excuses, but the girl grabs you by the wrist. You think she's about to haul you off to the office, when she holds it up and examines you closely. "Hmmm. I don't see any paint." She looks at you critically. "I'm guessing you're going to say those two idiots tried to rope you into their shenanigans, is that right?"You nod eagerly."Hmmm. All right, I'll believe you. But I'm keeping my eye on you just the same. We'd better get you to class. I'm out here looking for you.""Me?""Come on," she says, still holding your wrist as she walks off. >>2159465>>2159526There seem to be plenty of beautiful girls who attend this school, so you might as well do your best to flirt with all of them. You give her your best "rogueish charm" smile and say, "So Amari-chan, do you usually hold hands on the first date? That's surprisingly bold for a class rep."Amari-chan glances towards you with a startled look before immediately looking away. "D-don't think this means anything, idiot. I just wouldn't want you to get lost. The school can be confusing for newcomers, especially foreigners. It's my responsibility as class rep to make sure that transfer students make it to class." She says that, and her expression remains firmly resolved, but you see her cheeks blush. She tugs you a little faster down the hallway, then stops in front of a door marked 1-C. "This is it," she says. "Welcome to your first class here at Overwatch Gakuen.""Thanks," you say, wondering what you're in for."Hello, everyone," she announces as she slides open the door. She steps into the room and pulls you after her. "I've found him. Now we can start class."A chorus of groans from the class meets this response. Students are rarely enthusiastic about having to stop slacking off.The homeroom teacher, a middle-aged guy with a beard, doesn't say anything. In fact, you realize as you look more closely, he's leaning back in his chair, his feet are up on the desk, a cowboy hat is covering his face, and he's snoring.Amari-chan steps up to him and clears her throat loudly. "Ahem! McCree-sensei, I've found the transfer student. We can start homeroom now."The homeroom teacher, McCree, slowly rouses himself and takes the cowboy hat off his face. "Well, uh, thanks a lot for that, Amari-san. I'm sure the class really appreciates your efforts. Uh, new guy, why don't you step up here and say a little something about yourself? Then grab a desk and we can get started. We got a few different ones open, so take your pick."Nervous, you step up to the front of the classroom, taking your first look at your new classmates for the year. There's a girl in headphones munching on a bag of Doritos, a South American dude with huge dreadlocks pencil-drumming on his desk, and -- is that a robot? As you watch, it beeps and swivels its one-eyed head mechanically. Where did they find a school uniform that fit a square-shaped robot? What kind of class is this? You say to the class, "Hey, uh, I'm Logan King. Just transferred here from Canada. We move around a lot for my mom's job." Then you add:>Nice to meet you. "All right, siddown so I can get this moving and get back to my nap."You head to the back towards the small girl eating Doritos. She stuffs another handful of them into her mouth even as you approach, rapidly pressing buttons on her mobile phone with her other hand. As you sit down in the chair next to her, you hear her groan loudly, and you shrink back wondering if you offended her somehow already. But she's reacting to her phone. "Uuuugh, I'm never going to pull a five star!" She flops down the surface of her desk and pulls her hood down over her head. A few moments later, trying to get more comfortable, she shifts around to turn sideways, and sees you sitting next to her. "Oh, hey. New kid, right?" She pushes herself back upright. "I'm Hana Song, but you can call me DVa. It's my gamer tag.""Your gamer tag?" you repeat in disbelief."Mmhmm." She tips open the Doritos bag above her head and opens her mouth, and the last few scraps of chip fall inside. She licks her lips and wipes the last of the cheese dust off her chin. "I've won, like, a whole bunch of RTS tournaments online. I'm kind of a big deal, you know?""Right," you say, thinking that while she might be a huge nerd, at least she's cute. "So, DVa, is it? "I think I rolled forty accounts before I got the starter I wanted, the warrior princess, with the right stat modifiers."DVa perks up at this. "You play Fate Emblem?""Gotta do something on those long car rides," you say, opening the game on your phone and showing her your account."Oh, wow!" she says, awestruck. "You've got all the characters from the last special event!""Yeah, I've been lucky lately," you say. "First I got the drops I needed, and then at my new school I got a seat next to a really cute girl." You try rogueish charm smile #2 on her, and it seems to work because she giggles and tells you to cut it out.You ask her a few questions about the game, acting like you need her advice. People who are really into their hobbies love to show off their expertise, and soon DVa's eyes are shining with excitement as she talks about optimal troop formations."Wow, you're really smart," you say. "I was wondering if--"The PA system squeals loudly as it comes to life, interrupting you and blasting away your train of thought. McCree-sensei falls out of his chair. You hear a senior woman's voice on the address system. "Hello, children. This is Vice Principal Amari speaking, welcoming you wonderful students to another fine day at Overwatch Gakuen. Principal Morrison believes that all of you have the ability to excel, to show us all that you are the best students you can be. And we wouldn't want to disappoint Mr. Morrison, would we? Now you have a good day, children, and keep yourselves behaved. Or I'll know. And I'll find you." The PA clicks off with an ominous silence.(Continued)
>>2159911"Was that--?" you ask DVa quietly, while discretely pointing towards Amari-chan."Yep," DVa says. "The vice principal is her mom. And she runs this school like it's some kind of paramilitary group. So you better watch yourself around the little prodigy the class rep there."You start to realize the magnitude of what might've happened if Fareeha decided you were vandalizing the statue and reported you directly to her mother.Morning classes begin. McCree leaves with an unlit cigar in his mouth, and is replaced by a rotund Chinese woman named Zhou-sensei teaching Geography. She greets everyone with warm smiles and sets down a huge stack of books on the desk. You know plenty about world geography, having moved around a lot around Asia and North America, but there's a quiz today on local stuff that you have no clue about. Zhou-sensei gives you the same warm smile as she hands you back a sheet covered in red marks.Next is a gruff dwarf from Sweden with a huge beard, who can barely see over the desk. He uses a custom screen projector with short legs that looks like he built it himself out of spare parts. He's some kind of retired engineer and spends less time teaching Physics and more going over his long list of shortcomings with the latest projects created by the boys in his woodshop club after school.Next is an Japanese man of equal gruffness, regular height, and a much smaller beard. He teaches Japanese, which of course is the local language and cultural comprehension class and not a foreign language at all. "Is it?" you ask DVa."Sure," she says. "We're in Japan right now, right?""Are we? I'm a little confused on that subject, actually."Finally lunch comes. You fight your way through the Japanese lunchtime rush at the cafeteria and emerge with a plastic-wrapped sandwich and small carton of milk. You look around for a place to sit, and spot the running girl with spiky brown hair from earlier, with an empty space next to her. She's laughing as she talks with her friends who seem to be a guy with green hair and a talking gorilla. This school has uniforms that will fit not only robots, but gorillas as well, you think with some admiration. You also see your new seatmate DVa, sitting with two of your classmates, the guy with dreadlocks and the big robot; the punks from earlier, Junkrat and Roadhog; and Amari-chan, who's eating by herself. You decide to sit with:>The running girl and her friends>Your classmates>The punks>Fareeha>Go to the roof

You walk over there, aware that you're attracing looks as you do so. Amari-chan notices you approaching and watches you with wary eyes before putting on her class rep act. "Something I can help you with, King-kun? Directions, perhaps?""Actually, I thought I might invite you to eat lunch with me on the roof," you say, raising your sandwich bag, and smile. "Unless it's against the rules, that is."Amari says, "It's not, but -- students are discouraged from entering the roof area unless participating in school club activity ...""But we're allowed, right? C'mon. It's a nice day outside, would be good to get out in the sunlight, and I'm guessing there's a nice view up there you can show me. What do you say?""A-all right, if you insist ..."Amari gathers up her lunch and shows you where the stairs are. You walk with her up three flights through the darkened stairwell and through the door to the roof, where you emerge blinking into the sunlight, stepping out into the flat roof platio. "Hey, it is nice out here," you say, looking up at the blue sky, then taking in the view of the town around you. "I do like it up here," Amari admits. She walks to the edge and puts her hands on the waist-high ledge, looking out at the view. "I like being up high like this, able to see far away." The wind rushes through, stronger up here on the roof, rustling Amari's hair and modest skirt. You hear a girl's laugh nearby, and realize you're not alone. Skulking in the shadows of the rooftop doorway are two girls with elaborate hairdos, long skirts, and cigarettes in their hands. They're watching you, and when they see you notice them, step forward, approaching like two lionesses on the prowl together. Fareeha gasps in fear when she sees them, but marshalls her courage and stands at your side."Little Fareeha," the tall girl with blue skin says, a French accent adding extra flavor to the mocking cruelty in her voice. "We never thought we'd see you up here. Did your mother send you on the prowl for miscreants? Foul play? Deliquent behavior?"(Continued)

You've been around delinquents before. "You're Logan King, right? Can't believe we've got a real live Lucheng executive in our little school. Oh yeah," she adds with a smug smile in response to your surprise. "I already know everything about you, rich boy.""You've got me at a disadvantage," you say politely."True." The Mexican girl smiled and points at herself, then at the tall girl. "I'm Sombra, and she's Widow. You look like you know how to handle yourself, King. So let me tell you this. "Listen, I know I'm just the transfer student, but it seems to me like you guys have something in common here.""Oh?" asks Sombra. "What's that?""You all could use someplace quiet, away from the crowd. I get that you butt heads, the bad girls versus the dutiful class rep and all, but -- okay, for starters, can we just --" Carefully, not making any sudden movements, you reach out and disentangle Widow's fingers from around Fareeha's hand. She lets you do it, staring at you with an unreadable expression. Her blue skin is cold and smooth against yours."Okay, there," you say, returning each hand to its respective owner. "So here's what I'm thinking. Everyone here is some kind of outsider, right? Sure you're on different ends of the popularity spectrum, too bad or too good, but from a certain point of view, you're still in the same situation." You can tell that the girls are considering your words, so you forge ahead. "So why don't we say the roof is like a neutral ground. All three of you can come up here when you need to and just not bother each other. We can even say it's a school club so Amari-chan has something good to say to her mom about you two. I'll be in it too, so we can call it, uh, the Help the Idiot Transfer Student Club," you say, trying to make a joke. It's a bad one, but it still works. Sombra chuckles, and you see the barest hint of a smile at the corner of Widow's lips. Fareeha's expression softens. There isn't anywhere to put your food down until Widow takes a blanket out and lays it down, gesturing that you can join them. The four of you end up eating lunch together on the blanket. In between bites of your sandwich, you keep the awkardness at bay by trading smart-aleck comments with the quick-witted Sombra. Widow stays mostly silent until out of nowhere she offers to let you try a piece of food from her boxed lunch. Clearly put out that she was beaten to the punch, a frustrated Fareeha quickly follows up with her own offer, and Sombra joins in with a gleeful smile just to frustrate you further. You end up fighting off three sets of chopsticks holding outstretched food.Overhead the bright noon sun reaches its zenith. You're halfway through your first day at Overwatch Gakuen.

>>2160176With three girls all competing to have you try their lunches, you end up eating a lot that day. Which makes it that much worse when you realize that right after lunch period is PE class. Fareeha wishes you good luck with a look of trepidation as you part ways. Soon you understand why. There ought to be some kind of law against this, you think as you turn the corner on yet another lap of the grassy field, groaning as your still-full stomach lurches. Normally you'd take a moment and walk to settle things down, but your class is taught by the gym instructor from hell. Reyes-sensei, a severe-looking American in a dark hooded sweatshirt, has no patience for anyone slowed down by a heavy lunch. He barks orders across the field, demanding performance and criticizing slackers, only taking his eagle-like gaze off the runners to glance at the stopwatch and clipboard in his hands. At the other end of the field, the Year 2 boys class is spread out on the baseball diamond. The green-haired guy is up to bat, and watch as he crushes a pitch for a home run while shouting something about dragons. The kid with dreadlocks, who introduced himself as Lucio before the run started, is having a hard time as he runs beside you. "Wish I had my roller blades for this ..." he says. He perks up at spotting something across the field and pokes at you. "Hey, check it out. Year 2 girls' class is coming out!"The girls class emerges from the change rooms in their white shirts and bloomers. You see the running girl talking with Widow, or rather she's talking while Widow is trying to ignore her. They both look incredible in those shorts. Goddamn, look at those --And you run straight into a tree, smashing your face and falling backwards onto your ass."Who was that?" demands Reyes, somehow instantly there and casting a critical eye over your accident. "King? Goddamn it, new kid, how do you get so lost you can't find your way around a square field? Give me twenty, right this instant!"(Continued)
>>2161141You groan and roll over. Twenty push-ups later, you flop onto the grass on your back again, looking up at the sky. The lap-running seems to have stopped, all the boys standing or walking it off and trying to catch their breaths, so you just lay there for a while. A shadow falls over you, and you see the running girl looking down at you from above, appearing to be upside-down from your point of view. "Heya! How's your first day going, transfer?""Oh, you know," you say. "Making lots of new friends. Especially that tree."She giggles. "Yeah, I saw that. You must've been real distracted by something to do that, huh?" She winks at you and sits next to you in the grass. "I'm Lena Oxton. I suppose I'm your senpai since you're in the Year 1 class, but you can just call me Lena, everyone does."It's weird to call someone you barely know on a first-name basis without using honorifics, but if she says so. "All right, Lena it is," you say, getting back up into a sitting position. "I guess you can call me Logan.""What do you think of your first day so far?" she asks.>It's crazy. "Us upperclassmen have to make sure our juniors are settling in all right." She raises an arm straight up and waves energetically at the baseball diamond, where her green-haired friend waves back to her from the pitcher's mound."It's all a little strange," you admit. "Especially the part about how there's, like, two Japanese people in the school and everyone else is from all over the world. And speaking English. I'm confused, is this Japan or what?""Of course," Lena says innocently. "Where else would it be?""Good question," you say, realizing you probably won't get anywhere with this. "So uh, how's your class going? Is the girls' instructor as crazy as the boys'?""Pretty much," Lena says. "We love her, but she can be, umm -- intense?"You hear a coach's whistle, and Lena immediately leaps to her foot. "That's us. You'll see what I mean. Laters!" She waves to you as she dashes off to rejoin the other Year 2 girls. They're all lining up in a row, facing the same way, trying to straighten their posture. The girls' instructor appears, a massive woman with magnificent musclulature and bright pink hair. She walks up and down the line like a drill sergeant inspecting her recruits. The girls watch her with reactions that vary from fear to awe. "Very good, my girls!" the woman says with a heavy Russian accent. "You haf done very well this year. Soon you will be stronk women, like me!" She flexes a bicep that could probably crack a man's skull like a walnut. "Now let us begin ze training!"You look back at the baseball diamond just as the bespectacled gorilla steps up to bat. The green-haired kid is charming his band of admiring girls in the stands and not really paying attention -- he throws a pitch that gets away from him, and it hits the gorilla square between the eyes, cracking his glasses. The gorilla lets out a bestial roar and turns a bright red, his gym uniform shirt ripping to shreds as his muscles swell. He leaps forward, landing with a thud in front of the pitcher's mound, and swings a huge fist that batters the green-haired kid a mile high. Ouch, you think as you watch him fly off. He'll need to be rebuilt as a cyborg after that one. The distraction pulls your attention away from the rampaging ape now bounding through the gym field, and before you realize it, he's leaping towards you and a mighty ape fist swats you into the sky. And you flew really far when he hit you. That should have broken several bones at least, right? You push yourself up to a sitting position and look around. You're in a small office with a couple of beds and an exam table, posters of anatomy and nutrition on the walls, a toy skeleton on a cabinet. At the desk, humming quietly to herself as she writes something, is a stunning blonde. Are all the girls and women at this school incredibly hot? you ask yourself. And is this woman the hottest one yet? The competition is getting serious. The woman glances up to see you looking at her. "Ah, I see you're awake, King-kun." She gets up from the desk and stands by your bed, looking at you from above with a gentle smile, her golden hair highlighted by the light. "You're either quite bold or took more of a bump on your head than I realized." She puts her hand on your forehead to check your temperature, and your attention is grabbed by the sensation of her touch. With her other hand, Mercy clicks on a pen-light and shines it in one of your eyes, blinding it momentarily, then the other. "Response seems normal. Hmm." She clicks off the light and sits back."How am I okay, anyway?" you ask her, thinking back to getting slammed across the field by a rampaging gorilla. "Shouldn't I have at least a few broken ribs?""The wonders of biotic medicine, King-kun," Mercy says, crossing the room to pat a technological device shaped like a white staff. "My own creation, able to easily heal wounds sustained in combat.""Wait, so you created a magical healing staff?" you ask her. "Shouldn't you be a researcher as a leading hospital, or medic for an elite combat team? Why are you a school nurse?""Are you implying that taking care of our best and brightest students, our hope for the future, is not an equally vital task?""Uhh -- I guess so? Speaking of which, what happened to the green-haired kid? Were you able to fix him up the same way?""I'm afraid not," Mercy sighs. "His condition was critical by the time he arrived here. I had to take more extensive measures." She pulls back the curtain around the other medical bed, revealing the green-haired kid has been fully converted into a cyborg. "How is my latest creation feeling?" asks Mercy in a sweet voice."I'm no longer a man!" the kid screams, leaping from his bed and jumping out the window with the shattering of glass."Wait! "What's going on?" you ask him."Check it out," he says, pointing outside. You look down into the courtyard to see a huge vicious-looking black dog with pointed ears prowling the grounds. The PA system squeals to life. "Children, there's nothing to be alarmed of," Vice Principal Amari says. "Everything is safe. The situation is being taken care of. Do not go outside. Go back to your classrooms and do not come out, or you will receive ... the penalty." The voice clicks off."What's the penalty?" you ask Lucio. He shrugs. "Don't know, don't want to find out. Damn, that is a weird dog." It's kind of skinny, more like a coyote or a fox, but it looks dangerous enough. As you watch, the dog heads off to the big statue of the principal in the center of the courtyard and lifts its leg. Lucio looks on in disgust as a stream of dog piss fountains over the base of the statue. "Aw, c'mon! The disrespect! That's just wrong, man. Just wrong."Right now the black dog is only being rude, but somebody who didn't hear the announcement might go outside, or already be out there, and then what? Pretty soon you're the one pinned down by the dog's weight while he snaps his jaws at you, barely kept away from your face by your outthrust hand pushing him away as hard as you can. Spittle lands on your cheek, steamy hot breath blasts in your face. Fanged teeth clash, huge canines merely inches away from biting off your nose. Then a sudden yelp, and the weight is lifted. The dog is yanked backwards by its collar. It turns to fight, snarling, but his captor raises a rope, skillfully loops it around the dog's snapping jaws, and pulls it tight. Suddenly the dog can no longer open its mouth. He growls and whimpers as he struggles to get free, but the man holding him has the strength to keep him restrained long enough until the dog is hogtied and on the ground.A gloved hand is extended, and you take it and pull yourself to your feet. You take a good look at your rescuer for the first time and see a man with a mask covering his face, a glowing red visor over the eyes. Above the mask is close-cropped blonde hair fading to white. He wears a blue blazer."Nice one," you say."I'm just doing my job," the man says in a gravelly voice, looking down at the dog. I'll fight for your education, so you don't have to.""Thanks?" you say, a little confused at this peculiar character. You hear the school doors opening and turn around to see an elderly woman with an eyepatch. She must be the Vice Principal. She comes out into the courtyard, followed by Fareeha at her side and several of the older students behind her. You turn to see the reaction of the mysterious Teacher 76, but he's somehow disappeared into thin air."What happened?" asks Fareeha."Yes, child," Amari-sensei says, her voice a perfect mixture of loving kindness and sharp severity. "Please explain how you came to be in this courtyard when I expressely instructed that all students were to remain in their classrooms and indoors.""Uhhh -- well, I was worried about the other students, so I thought I'd come down here. The Vice Principal is laughing and telling you an old story about a delinquent she once punished, and you're learning against her desk at what you think is a rakish angle, when the door opens and Fareeha appears. She takes one look at the situation, starts to blush with anger and embarassment, and shuts the door again."Oh dear," Amari-sensei says wearily. "I'll be hearing about this one at dinner tonight. In the confusion regarding Anubis the dog, nobody seemed to notice. Kids are seeing it now, though, clustered around it excitedly and talking. You walk past them, intending to head straight home and think about what a weird day you've had. You're about halfway through the courtyard when the earth erupts under your feet.A huge kid in African war paint, cargo pants, and a massive cybernetic arm with spikes lands in front of you. "Hold up, new kid," he says in a booming voice. "You haven't dealt with me yet.""How did you come out of the ground like that?" you ask, both puzzled and impressed. The big guy grabs you by the collar with his regular arm and hoists you into the air. Apparently he's super strong even without the robot arm. "You better start paying some respect, boy," he says. "I'm the boss around here, and apparently you haven't learned that yet. So I better show you why." He reaches back with the big cybernetic arm, and you think that if getting punched by a gorilla earlier was bad, it's about to get a whole lot worse."Give him a break, Doom," Sombra says, annoyed. Her and Widow are loitering by the school gate. "He's cool, all right?""Cool?" says the huge guy. "Are you serious, bro? Just look at him!" He drops you to the ground and you fall on your ass, coughing as you try to catch your breath. The big guy, Doom, looms over you, judging you silently. After several moments of ominous silence he says, "All right, dude. If Sombra says you're cool, I'll give you one chance.""A chance?""To prove yourself. Show everyone here at Overwatch Gakuen that you got the stuff. We're gonna meet up tonight at the mountain. And we're gonna settle this like men!" Doom raises his hands to the sky. >>2162051>>2162093"First of all," you say, scrambling to your feet. "Let me say that you are just -- uh, wow." You look Doomfist up and down, clear your throat, and try again. "That you are one magnificent specimen of humanity, possessed of impressive physique. You are --" Trying to find more eloquent words and failing, you end up summing it up with, "You're a big guy.""For you," says Doom."Woah," you say. "I didn't realize that's how you felt about this. I might be into that given, you know, the right accomodations--""What? No, I mean, like -- you're short, so I'm big for you, as in compared to you. What did you think I was saying?""Uhhh --" You tug at your collar, suddenly sweating. "Let's get back to the race thing, shall we? I accept your challenge. But on one condition.""Which is?""I get to pick the soundtracks we listen to in the car."Doom scoffs. "What, are you going to make me listen to ponies and rainbows, like it'll slow me down?""No, I just want to make sure we're listening to the same Eurobeat song so it's like a synchronized soundtrack. Oh, and there's one small problem. I don't have a car.""Ay dios mio," Sombra says. "Are you seriously telling me you don't know how to steal cars out of your parents' garage, rich boy?""I mean -- if I had the help of a skilled hacker, it might go more smoothly."Sombra eyes you a moment, then flips her phone closed. "Well played, chulo. All right, I'll do you a favor, just this once." She blows a pink bubble of gum and pops it. "Meet us tonight at the mountain, Doom. I'll make sure he gets there."Doom says, "Better watch yourselfout there, new guy. Those mountain roads are pretty dangerous. Over the years a lot of stupid kids have gotten themselves killed there.""I guess you better be careful," you say.Doom growls and reaches back to slug you with his robot arm, but it's at full extension, Widow catches his fist. He turns around, and she shakes her head once. He lowers his arm and turns back to glare at you. "See you tonight, nerd."(Continued)
>Logan “make love not warcraft” KingYes.
>>2162133That evening as twilight falls, you head out to the corner of your street to find Sombra already there, waiting for you. She's changed out of her school uniform and into casual clothes. "So, King," she says, taking a candy cigarette out of her mouth. "You seem like a guy who knows what he's doing. What do you need help from little old me for?""My parents keep updating the electronic security on the place," you say. "It's too much for me to keep up with. Computers aren't really my thing, I just know enough to get by. So now I can't even get through the door code. You, on the other hand. I bet you can crack it.""What makes you say that?""Once I thought about how you knew all that stuff about me, it clicked. You're one of those people who has to know how to get into everything.""Maybe I am, cabron. Why don't you show me to this door of yours, and I'll see what I can do."On the way back to your house, you take a sidelong look at Sombra and say to her, "I like your outfit. Especially the, uh --" You make a gesture indicating roundness."The pants?" Sombra asks with a sly smile."Yeah, that.">I'm glad things worked out okay on the roof today. >So how likely am I to die in this race?>Any tips you can give me about this race?>You and your friend Widow seem pretty different from each other.>Is Doom, like, your gang leader?>Write-in.

>>2162148When she sees your house, Sombra whistles in astonishment. "Nice place! Your parents really are rich. All right, let's get to work."You show her the door to the garage. She does something on her phone to disable the cameras, then takes a tablet out from her satchel and starts rapidly pressing buttons on some kind of custom UI, everything composed of purple hexagons. Within a minute she exclaims, "Gotcha," and hits a certain key. The door lets out a chunk sound as the security system disengages."Very nice," you say. "Join me inside?"Sombra steps into the garage after you. "Not bad, not bad. I see a few of these that might actually give Doom a run for his money." She walks past you, looking around, and you take the opportunity to admire her figure in those tight pants. "So, hey," you say to Sombra. "My parents are away on work for a few days. So uh. We've got the place to ourselves.""Oh ho?" Sombra turns and puts a finger to her lips. "Just what are you suggesting, King-kun?" She bats her eyelashes at you."Just saying that, you know, we've got some privacy. For whatever happens." You lean against the nearest car, real casual. "I figure we've still got an hour or two before we need to head up the mountain. What do you suppose we should do with the time?" You try Rogueish Smile #2 on her. "Anything you can think of?"That night, you arrive at the site of the race, Sombra riding along beside you in the passenger seat. "That was fun, chulo," she says with a sly grin. "We should do that again sometime." She gets out, shuts the door behind her, and walks off with a sway in her hips. You wipe purple lipstick off your collar and drive through the crowd, which slowly parts ways for you, until you arrive at the designated race starting point.Doom is leaning against his car, a grotesquely powerful machine with a supercharger sticking out of the hood. "Ready to get crushed, nerd? Don't get yourself killed out there. I look forward to a full year of getting extra lunch money from you." "Prepare to get wrecked, Mister "Doomfist". Was that really the best name you could come up with?""You talk a big game," Doom says. "But that won't matter soon. You're a bug about to get squashed."On the outskirts of the group you see Fareeha being barred from entry. "We've still got a few minutes, yeah?" you ask Doom.He laughs. "Getting nervous? Take your time. I'm not going anywhere."(Continued)
>>2162176You head over to where Fareeha is. "I'm telling you," she argues with the two guys blocking her path. "I'm not interested in your little race club, I just want to find King-kun!"You head up there and say,"Hey guys, I'll just be a moment here." They turn away to give you some privacy, and you and Fareeha take a few steps out into the darkness."I'm still mad," she says immediately. "I -- I just wanted to wish you luck in the race. That's all. I'd hate for something to happen to you after I just met you. I -- I mean -- after you just joined the school. That would upset the students, and be unfortunate for the school. Yes.""I think I get what you're saying. Thanks, Amari-chan."She hugs her arms around herself and looks away. "Y-you can call me by my first name if you'd like.""All right. Thanks, Fareeha."She looks shocked at the honorific being left off as well, but swallows her embarassment. "G-good luck out there ... L-L-Logan."You head out to your car, feeling the excitement growing inside you. DVa and Lucio are there to cheer you on. Lucio hoots as Dva shouts, "Go King-kun! You can do this! Pwn his head!"You get into your car, turn everything on, and rev up the engine, listening to the growing power roar like a beast coming to life. You take hold of the wheel, your fingers slick with sweat. This is it. This is what it all comes down to.Lena stands between the cars with a pair of racing flags. Someone starts a countdown, and the whole group starts chanting it. At zero, Lena waves the flags with a theatrical flourish. You release the brake, and the tires squeal before finding purchase on the asphalt. Your car peels out just behind Doom's. The speed pushes you back into your seat. Eagerly, you brace yourself and get ready for the first turn.On the third turn you slam into a lamppost. The car bounces off the post, skids out of control, and rams right-front corner first into a tree, crushing half the engine and knocking one of the wheels completely off your car. The forlorn tire rolls down the street, passing through of the pools of light from each streetlight and until finally it disappears into the darkness of the forest beyond.Turns out you can't learn to drift race in one evening. You sigh and toss the booklet labelled "How to Drift Race" into the backseat.(Continued)
>>2162177Good thing you buckled your safety belt, you think as you undo it and get out. You're shaken but unharmed. The car is completely ruined, though, and of course the race is lost by almost as much as it's possible to lose. But you're just fine. You spend a minute or so watching the headlights of Doom's car swerve back and forth through the dark night as he speeds down the trail, unaware that you've wrecked already. Then you turn around and start hiking back up.By the time you reach the main group, they've realized what's happened. Rushing to check that you're all right are Fareeha, DVa, Sombra and even a reluctant Widow. DVa runs up to you and gives you a big hug, and Sombra does the same from the other side. Fareeha looks on bashfully, still too uptight to do the same, and Widow looks away, pretending to be too cool to care. Yes, you think as you put an arm each around DVa and Sombra. You're just fine. More than fine. You think that you'll enjoy your time here at Overwatch Gakuen.
>>2162178That concludes our bonus anniversary episode!I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, and that you'll join me for a second year of Overwatch Quest. Thanks for playing!
>>2162179It was cool thanks for running. Still confused wether we we're in Japan or not
>>2162179How come we didnt get to roll for not fucking up so early in the race.
>>2162283Because we don't actually know how to drift race, we were bluffing and/or overconfident the whole time
>>2163153Buts its still a driving roll we could have won, Seeker/King has done even dumber shit before(as a teenager in canon as well), and succeeded. Blowing the first race immediately for no reason is still bullshit.
>>2163687Let's be real, the main reason we lost is because we forgot to queue up an appropriate Eurobeat song.
>>2163754......fuck it, I guess that's as good an excuse as any.
Why can't we have this instead of actual Overwatch quest though.
>>2163776Because for some god forsaken reason, some people made a shitpost vote to be a faggot. Blame them for ruining something nice as we wait for the real story to pick back up. Still, using them Overwatch series as a school story gives me a few ideas.
It would have been funny if we took moms hover car and just went down the mountain straight.
>>2164989......why didn't we?
Huh, just caught up, kind of sad we didn't get a Christmas esque thread might have been funny but then again, mistletoe antics + waifus might be a bad idea.Or a good one?
>>2167219>Widow only confirmed character with Mistletoe emote>widow steals the kiss
>>2167245I kind of want Mercy and Tracer drunk on eggnog trying to do the mistletoe thing with Logan only to intentionally or unintentionally trip the other up on their respective attempts.
>>2167253>Tracer faffing about and screwing up kiss attempts all night>Finally lands one>Gets so excited she rewinds so she can do it again, and again, and again...
>>2167257I can see that.
We need gift so for our overwatch comrades!
>>2175887Medkit for Genji.
