>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-two year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

"Thanks for the bean," you tell Korin before leaping off of the tower.

Flying upward, you soon reach the top of Kami's Lookout, finding the old Guardian standing outside, evidently having been waiting for you.

"Hello, Tofoo," he greets as you land in front of him. "I'm glad to see you alive and well. Things are certainly looking bad, and this new foe of yours has an all-too familiar feel to him."

"I know what you mean," you tell your old mentor.

Both Slug and his men gave off a feeling that was more than evil, it was demonic, the group reminding you far too much of King Piccolo and his demonic servants. Based on that, and Lord Slug's apparent knowledge of the Dragonballs, you're experiencing far too much deja vu right now.

"How much do you know about what's going on down there?" you ask Kami.

"Enough," he answers, giving a small smile. "And while this enemy that has surfaced possesses great power, his very nature may give us the advantage we need to ensure his defeat."

Kami glances over his shoulder, and you spot Popo approaching the two of you, carrying a rather large jar in his hands. You're pretty sure you understand the plan, when Popo sets down the jar between you and Kami.

"I trust you're familiar with the Mafuba technique," Kami says.

"Sure," you answer. "But, I've never learned to use it."

Kami smiles. "That's why we're here."

Popo smiles as well, taking a step back.

"That is, if you're willing to let us play the role of your teachers again," Kami continues. "I won't lie to you; the Mafuba is a dangerous technique. If performed improperly, it can be fatal to its user. However, I was able to successfully master the technique, and given your impressive ability with ki, I believe you can do this. However, the decision is yours."

"I'll learn the Mafuba," you tell Kami, deciding that it's probably the best way to go about defeating Lord Slug.

The Guardian nods, taking a step back. "Very well. We will use this jar for practice. Its size makes it an easy target, which will make your training a bit easier. Now, we'll give you a demonstration."

He turns toward his assistant. "Mr. Popo, are you sure you're comfortable with this?"

Popo nods. "Go ahead, Kami. I will be alright."

Kami closes his eyes, taking a deep breath. When his eyes open again, they shine with intense focus, and Popo seems taken aback. Kami thrusts out his hands toward his assistant, shouting a single word at the top of his lungs.

"MAFUBA!"

A green beam of light shoots from his palms, and Popo begins to scream when it hits him. You watch as the green beam changes into a swirling vortex, and seems to stretch Popo's body impossibly as he's sent spinning through it.

Kami lifts his arms, and vortex changes back into a beam, flying high into the air before the Guardian redirects it, sending it crashing down into the jar, which rocks back and forth rapidly as the light vanishes within it.

"Now, at this point, you quickly close the container, and your foe will be unable to escape," Kami explains. "However, you also need to attach a seal to the side of it, otherwise your foe can escape."

As if on cue, the jar begins to shudder, and Popo emerges in a puff of smoke, sweating and breathing heavily, his eyes wide with terror. Kami gives his friend an apologetic look.

"I am sorry, Mr. Popo," he tells him. "Are you alright?"

Popo nods. "I'll be fine, Kami."

Nodding, the Guardian turns back to you. "Now, Tofoo. It's time to practice. You can either use myself or Popo for this."

With Kami as your target, you begin your training, with the results being less-than successful, but somewhat amusing. As it turns out, despite your great skill at manipulating ki, the Mafuba is a difficult technique to master, and on your first attempt, you accidentally fling poor Kami off the side of the Lookout.

When he comes back up, you try again, this time getting closer, but only because this time his building was in the way, keeping him from being thrown off the edge again. As Popo goes to mend the damage, you make a third attempt, this time sending Kami crashing through a tree.

By this point, you're feeling tired, but you have more than enough energy to keep going. Kami, on the other hand, has several bruises, and looks as if he's about to have a heart-attack. As you prepare to try again, he stiffens, looking toward the edge of the Lookout.

"Wait, Tofoo!" he calls before you can make another attempt. "We may have to put this training on hold for the time being."

"Why?" you ask. "Slug?"

Kami nods. "He's on the move. Now, perhaps I'm simply being paranoid, but it appears that he's making his way toward West City."

Your heart-rate skyrockets. Bulma most likely went back there. And, even if she didn't, Trunks is still at Capsule Corp with his grandparents. You saw what that monster Slug did to North City, there's no reason that he couldn't do the same to your home.

"I'll be back," you promise Kami, picking up the jar. "Do you have a seal for this?"

"Mr. Popo?" the Guardian asks, looking over his shoulder.

Popo approaches, handing you a small seal, which you quickly attach to the side of the jar before rushing to the edge and leaping off. You quickly start toward West City, sensing Slug's energy heading in that same direction. As far as you can tell, you'll beat him there at your current speed, but maybe you should pick up the pace just a bit to be sure.

In the interest of conserving energy, you continue at your present speed. As you draw closer to West City, you're able to sense the energy signatures of Yamcha and Kori there, along with Krillin, though his family seems to be flying in another direction.

It's not long before you arrive, and when you do, you find your three friends waiting on the outskirts, hovering in the air. Upon your arrival, the three look toward you, smiling.

"There he is," Yamcha says with a smile.

"Boy, it's a relief to see you in one piece," Krillin remarks. "To be honest, I thought you were a goner!"

"Please, I've dealt with worse," you tell your friend.

"You mean like Freeza?" Yamcha jokes, earning a glare from you.

"Look, I may have a way to beat Slug," you inform the group. "I learned a technique called the Mafuba."

Krillin and Kori don't seem to recognize the name, but Yamcha's eyes widen just a bit.

"Isn't that the technique Master Roshi's teacher used to seal away King Piccolo?" he asks.

You nod.

Yamcha laughs joyously. "Well alright! Then you can just put Slug in a jar and we're done here!"

"Well, I mean, I sorta know how to do it," you say unconvincingly.

"Sorta?" Kori asks.

"Well, I've never actually pulled it off," you explain, rubbing the back of your head with your free hand.

"You're kidding, right?" Krillin asks.

"My training sort of got interrupted," you explain. "So, fingers crossed. But if this Mafuba thing doesn't work out, the four of us should be able to handle Slug by ourselves."

"I sure hope you're right," Krillin tells you.

"Guys!" Kori shouts. "He's here!"

A terrible feeling of dread watches over you, and you turn to see Slug fast-approaching. He stops just ahead of you and your friends, an amused smile on his hideous, wrinkled face.

"Well, we meet again," he remarks, looking at you. "That was a nice trick you pulled before, but you won't be getting away this time."

"He's not alone this time!" Yamcha shouts to the demon. "You really think you can handle all four of us?"

"Hah!" Slug laughs. "I could take a hundred of you with no trouble whatsoever. But since you seem so confident, maybe I'll start with you."

Yamcha scowls, getting into a fighting stance. "Bring it!"

Slugs eyes glow, and two beams of light shoot forward toward Yamcha. Your friend's eyes widen, and he brings up his arms to block, hissing in pain as the beams push him back. Smoke rises from the spots that were hit, but Yamcha seems to be alright.

"Kuma-Ken!" you shout at the top of your lungs, feeling your power skyrocket as you become surrounded by a green aura.

Slug takes his attention off of Yamcha, glancing toward you as you hold out your free hand, focusing your energy into the form of a blade. With a yell, you rush toward the green terror, using the Afterimage technique in an attempt to strike him from behind.

However, Slug is not so easily fooled, and throws back his elbow, catching you in the gut and knocking the wind right out of you. Turning around, he delivers a mighty punch to your face, and you are thrown back by the force of it, the jar falling free of your grasp and plummeting toward the ground in the process.

The Mafuba might be your best chance, and with that in mind, you dive after the falling jar, the lid to which has already come off, and is falling a short distance from the rest of it. You move as fast as you can, but before you can reach the jar, a thin beam of light shoots out and strikes it, breaking Slug's potential prison into countless pieces.

Stopping your descent, you look up toward Slug, who smirks down at you, taking aim to fire his next attack at your heart. But before he gets the chance, Krillin takes the opportunity to strike, kicking Slug in the back of the head, and knocking the demon forward. Kori follows up with an energy wave that strikes Slug in the back, pushing him away and giving you time to rejoin your friends.

Yamcha has made it back to the group as well, and the four of you watch as Slug breaks free of Kori's attack, turning back toward your group with an arrogant, thoroughly amused grin.

"Krillin, I want you to go to Capsule Corp," you tell your friend. "Tell Bulma, Lazuli, Doctor Briefs, and all of the others to get out of West City."

"Alright," Krillin tells you. "You three hang in there until I get back!"

He turns and rushes toward Capsule Corp, leaving you, Yamcha, and Kori to contend with this demonic being on your own. Slug slowly moves toward you and your remaining friends, a dark aura becoming visible around him. Fighting the chill working its way down your spine, you tell Yamcha and Kori of your plan.

"I'll keep him distracted," you whisper. "Find an opening and attack."

"Right," Yamcha tells you, his expression serious as ever.

Kori nods, her expression of determination reminding you a bit of her father. Fear won't stop her from giving this battle her all, for better or worse.

Slug stops a short distance from your trio, continuing to smirk devilishly. The smug confidence radiating from him almost creates enough disgust within you to cancel out the fear that's beginning to take hold.

Drawing on your courage, and thinking of your family, you rush toward Slug, hefting your Ki Blade high and slashing downward toward his left shoulder. His left arm rises to block the blade, stopping it in its tracks. You can feel his energy focusing into his arm, keeping it from being sliced by your attack.

Chuckling to himself, he raises his other hand and places it upon your chest, unleashing a blast of energy that throws you away and burns through your clothes, scorching your skin.

"Haven't you had enough?" Slug asks. "Just give it up already. I promise that I'll kill you quickly if you surrender now."

Not about to give up, you rush forward, slashing at another blast that Slug sends your way, sending it flying away from the battlefield. Thrusting your free hand forward, you retaliate with a blast that pushes Slug back, and quickly close in, stabbing where you assume his heart is. He manages to spin out of the way just in time, maneuvering himself behind you and punching you in the back of the head, sending you tumbling toward the ground.

As you tumble down toward the ground, you stop channeling energy into your Ki Blade, allowing it to vanish as you instead focus your Ki into stabilizing yourself, and channeling energy into your feet.

Just before reaching the ground, you fire a Kamehameha Wave from your feet, propelling you upward toward Slug, who seems to have his hands full with the others.

Yamcha catches the demon off-guard, sending him forward toward Kori, who kicks him in the back and sends him plummeting down toward you. You collide with Slug, your fist slamming into his body, and breaking through his skin, pushing all the way through the other side.

Slug cries out in surprise, blood shooting from his mouth, and lets out a pained cry as you wrench your now blood-coated arm from his body, revealing a decently sized hole in his chest.

Slug quickly backs away, bringing his hand to the hole and breathing heavily, his expression showing only shock at the fact that he's been wounded.

"I'm sort of an expert at putting holes in Namekians," you tell Slug, channeling energy upward as you speak.

The hole in Slug's chest mends itself, his power level dropping, yet still he looks at you with a smirk. "So, you know I'm a-"

Before he can finish, you open your mouth wide, unleashing a massive wave of energy that catches him entirely off-guard, engulfing his body as he cries out in shock. When the light fades, much of his body appears scorched, and he wears a look of rage on his face.

However, that rage soon turns to a look of joy and confidence as his power returns to normal, then continues to climb. You watch in confusion and shock as a glow surrounds his body, and his old, wrinkles flesh takes on a brighter shade of green, his muscles growing, his wrinkles vanishing, and his power continuing to climb.

"Finally!" he yells, laughing uproariously. "I was wondering when my strength would return!"

"Oh, that's bullshit!" you shout toward Slug, who simply begins to laugh harder.

"I told you that you have no chance!" he shouts with glee. "Crushing you and your friends just became a lot easier!"

"What the Hell just happened?" you demand of the Namekian, who answers quite obligingly.

"I'm sure you remember that attack I used to destroy the last city we fought in," he says smugly. "It killed every living thing there except for you, and even you barely made it. The problem is that an attack like that requires that I use my life energy, which means when we fought before, I was weakened. But now my youthful appearance and true vigor have returned, and you don't have a prayer!"

"You've got to be kidding me!" Yamcha shouts.

Slug laughs once again. "Finally starting to realize that fighting me's hopeless? I'll give you the same chance I gave your friend here. If you swear to become my obedient servant, I'll consider sparing your life."

"In your dreams, you disgusting freak!" Yamcha shouts back.

Happy New Years, you've come up with your resolution?

What would the casts resolution be?
>>
>>1000089
Krillin: Do a better job of keeping his family from getting hurt

Yamcha: Don't screw things up with Lazuli

Goku: Master Instant Transmission

Launch: Go on more picnics

Launch: Buy more guns

Piccolo: Become stronger than Goku and Tofoo

Bulma: Keep her husband from dying that year

Suno: Get Goku to stay home for a bit
>>
>>1000107
Tofoo: Stay away from acid and martial-arts tournaments.
>>
Funny how Tofoo still makes shit rolls in the new year.
>>
>>1000124
Hah
>>
>>1000139
Funny or fitting?
>>
>>1000107
So what did Krillin and Chichi say to each other all those years ago when we told him to wait with her?
>>
>>1000139
Gotta' get them bad rolls out of the way.

My New Year resolution is to have Tofoo roll a 100 on an actual attack.
>>
>>1000195
"Hey babe you wanna' fug?"
>>
>>1000195
They talked, Chichi asked why he was with you, learned he was a fighter too, she kind of fawned over him, saying he must be brave and strong too, but unlike Tofoo and Goku, when Chichi expressed interest, Krillin reciprocated it. Chichi was a hopeless romantic desperate for a boyfriend, and Krillin was desperate for a girlfriend. Oddly enough, it worked out because the two of them wanted to be the best significant other they possibly could, so they did all they could for each other.
>>
>>1000211

Or not
>>
>>1000253
I doubt either couple is gonna have a kid any time soon. They just don't seem the type for it at the moment.
>>
>>1000268
True enough

Maybe Krillin and Chichi, they get busy often enough

Or maybe Suno and Goku when he finally gets back
>>
>>1000281
I think another kid would be a good reason for Goku to stay home for a whie. Seems like the perfect plan for Suno. What would they be named though.
>>
>>1000302
Gohan?
>>
>>1000310
I guess Gohan if it's a boy. Would they actually be similar to Gohan though? Or would they be more like Goten?
>>
>>1000318
Hard to say. Suno doesn't have a problem with her kids being martial artists
>>
>>1000324
I mean in terms of personality and appearance, not upbringing and overall proclivity towards Martial Arts.
>>
>>1000330
That remains to be seen
>>
>>1000333
Whatever happens, I expect it to be interesting.
>>
>>1000341
You and Bulma could even have another kid, but with how much time you spend with Trunks, that might not be a good idea right now
>>

I don't want another daily dose, Som. Yet the dice gods seem to insist upon it.

In terms of an actual question, did you foresee the possibility of utterly fucking up both the Mafuba and losing the sealed jar all in one go?
>>
>>1000495
I knew it was a possibility, but I did not think it would actually happen.

Makes things more interesting, though, doesn't it?
>>
>>1000515

I'm going to guess the Mafuba was the easy way to wrapping up this arc. How hard has it gotten now?
>>
>>1000618
The Mafuba is still an option. Fighting Slug at his full power will be quite difficult, but not impossible.
>>
>>1000630

Going to be tricky with Slug back at full power, and he already knows about the Solar Flare so it's much harder to run away this time. How far is Kami's Lookout from where we stand?

I'm going to guess that Slug thinks we're being weird for carrying a jar around? Just hoping he doesn't know anything about the technique itself.
>>
>>1000666
Several minute's flight

He gathered that it's important to you in some way, but hasn't figured out that you plan to seal him in it.
>>
>>1000672

Fuck, we should've told the guy we sent to capsule corp to bring another jar or electric rice cooker.

Next time we die (Because we WILL die, as per Tofoo standards) we should make kaioh sama teach us his technique to talk with people from any point in the universe.
>>
Mafuba into a Dynocap?
>>
>>1001424
Nope
>>
>>1001440
Since the Mafuba can't be escaped once someone is captured, the person inside the vortex has completely lost their guard and can't use their ki to build up a defense?
>>
>>1001693
It can without a seal, and you'd need extraordinary aim to put someone in a capsule. Not to mention the fact that tapping the button would release whoever is inside
>>
>>1001732
No, I'm asking that if the person inside the vortex is completely defenseless with strength similar to a normal person on earth.

"If that attack aged you, how did you go back to the way you were?" you question.

"You know what Dragonballs are," Slug reminds you. "And long ago, I used my Dragonballs to grant myself eternal youth! Thanks to that wish, so long as my life force isn't extinguished, my youth and vigor return given time. Too bad for you that it returned when it did."

"Raw power doesn't decide a fight," you warn.

"Oh yeah?" he asks. "Well let's see what you and your friends can do against Lord Slug in his prime!"

A dark aura surrounds the Namekian, and his power now seems to far exceed your own. Even with Yamcha and Kori's help, it doesn't seem likely that you can win this battle. Still, your friends aren't backing down. They prepare themselves for battle, despite most likely sensing the same thing that you do.

The Mafuba's out of the question for the time being, seeing as Slug destroyed your jar. And, due to the fact that he's a Namekian, putting him down will be difficult, as he can regenerate entire limbs and heal wounds.

Gathering energy, you fire a small ball of light from your right palm. It crackles with electricity as it speeds toward Slug, whose overconfidence seems to make him oblivious to the potential threat. You expect him to attempt to swat it away or something, but instead he simply braces himself, letting the attack hit him head-on.

Big mistake. He cries out in pain as electricity courses through his body, which begins to convulse wildly from the attack.

Seeing the opportunity you've presented him, Yamcha rushes forward, shouting as he reaches his target.

"WOLF FANG FIST!"

A palm-strike hits Slug in the face, jolting his head back and giving Yamcha time to unleash more attacks. He relentlessly pummels the Namekian with claw and palm-strikes, until Slug recovers enough to respond with an uppercut to the jaw.

Yamcha's head snaps back, and Kori rushes in.

Z has a serious bone to pick with non-Saiyans.
I expected we'd bite the dust more than a few times.
We're still doing much better than I thought we would though.
>>
>>1002935
Well, you did kill Zarbon and Dodoria, along with Recoome and Ginyu. Also Raditz and Saibamen, and Angila.
>>
>>1002952
You forgot Medamatcha
>>
>>1002952
We also managed to push Frieza all the way to his final form, lead everyone against Vegeta and Nappa, make the Kaioken not shit...we're doing pretty good.
>>
>>1002952

Raditz and Saibaman were because we came out of original DB stronger than in canon, and I forgot which freezer minions we killed because we surprised them with the ki blade.

And speaking about the ki blade, we seriously need to make a version that can be pulled instantly at the last microsecond. Lesser minions gets fooled into being sliced by it, but final bosses have shown to be smarter than that and dodge or wrist slap Tofoo the moment they see him generating a blade on his arm and charging.
>>
>>1002992
Yeah a technique we came out on the spot when Zarbon was going to crush our skull in after he basically made our ki take a nose dive first from a savage beating.

Yamcha's hurt, but Slug is distracted. Kori's rushing in, and you move to join her.

Slug sees the girl coming, and raises an arm to block the punch she throws. However, this keeps him distracted as you close in, channeling energy into your right hand, along which sparks begin to dance as you pull back your arm.

Your fist slams into Slug's gut, an he begins to hunch over before the electricity surges into his body, and he shrieks in pain, beginning to convulse wildly. Kori, seeing her chance, backs away from Slug before firing a blast of energy into his face, knocking him back, and giving you an opening to kick him and send him plummeting to the ground below.

Kori, and a clearly pained Yamcha come to your side, and the three of you cup your hands, gathering energy.

"KAMEHAMEHA!" the three of you shout, thrusting your hands down toward Slug and unleashing a trio of blue beams.

They soon combine into one massive wave of energy, and rapidly pursue Slug, who raises his head as he descends, eyes widening as he sees it coming. You watch as he braces himself, slamming into the street below just before being consumed by the blast.

Fortunately, it seems that the people in the area have largely evacuated, so there doesn't look to have been many casualties. Still, several buildings are destroyed in the explosion, and you can't shake the feeling that a few humans went with them.

A massive, smoking crater is revealed when the dust clears, and you spot Slug lying in the middle of it, looking pretty badly scorched. As you look down, he picks himself back up and glares at you hatefully.

You try to get yourself out of the way of Slug's attack, but just aren't fast enough. The beams cut into you, and you scream in pain as you fall from the sky, crashing to the ground below. Above you, Slug laughs, raising a massive foot to crush you, but before he gets the chance, Yamcha moves in front of his face.

"SOLAR FLARE!"

There's a blinding flash of light, and you hiss in pain from it, but it does the trick against Slug, and Yamcha is able to pull both you and Kori to safety, taking cover with the two of you several blocks away.

"Thanks for the save," you tell Yamcha.

"No problem," he replies. "Now we need a-"

Before he can finish, a light surrounds you, and the building behind which you're hiding is shattered as a wave of energy consumes you and the others. Yamcha shields Kori as best he can, but all three of you are badly scorched as you're thrown forward, landing painfully on the ground.

"You can run," Slug rumbles from above you. "But you can't hide!"

Turning over, you see Slug raise his foot, only to stop and quickly leap back, avoiding a disk of energy that would have otherwise sliced him in half. You don't need to see who threw it to know that it was Krillin.

"Why don't you pick on somebody your own size?!" your friend challenges the Namekian.

"That wouldn't be you, small fry," Slug tells your friend as he turns to face him.

Krillin raises a hand above his head, and another Kienzan is formed. With a yell, he hurls it at Slug, who takes a deep breath and blows it off course, sending it slicing through a nearby building.

"Come here, runt!" Slug shouts, stretching one of his massive arms toward Krillin, who nimbly moves out of the way and rushes up the arm toward Slug, firing a quick blast of energy into the Namekian's face, and knocking him off his feet.

As Slug falls, he fires a pair of eye beams up at Krillin, but your friend has another trick up his sleeve.

"KAIO-KEN!" he shouts, a red glow surrounding him as his power doubles.

With new speed, Krillin avoids the blasts, the glow fading quickly as he turns to face Slug once again.

"We have to help him," Yamcha groans, struggling to stand.

Before you can join him, there's another flash of light, but this time, it's a good thing.

Kami and Popo have arrived on the scene atop Popo's carpet, and the black creature has a new jar in his hands.

"Alright!" Yamcha shouts with excitement, drawing Slug's attention.

Before the great Namekian can strike, however, Krillin throws another Kienzan, this time managing to cut the monster's cheek. Growling angrily, Slug turns his attention back to Krillin.

Kami raises a finger to his lips, silently telling all of you to remain quiet.

You attempt to rise and rejoin the battle, but find that you can't call upon enough strength. The green glow around you has vanished, and your power seems to have gone with it.

For right now, Krillin's on his own.

Or, so you'd assumed, but Kori's back on her feet. She's wounded, but it seems as though Yamcha protected her from the worst of that last attack, meaning that she can go join in the fight.

She rushes forward, firing a barrage of energy blasts at Slug, who temporarily turns his focus away from Krillin to swat at her. Kori just barely manages to dodge, and fires a wave of energy that strikes Slug in his left eye.

Slug stumbles back, raising a hand to cover his eye as he falls against a massive building, which collapses on top of him, burying him in rubble. Krillin and Kori hang in the air, waiting for Slug to show himself, and quickly flee as thin beams of light shoot from the Rubble, narrowly missing them.

Slug rises, scraped and covered in dust, but looking more irritated than wounded. His glaring eyes move between Krillin and Kori, as if deciding who to kill first. Meanwhile, Kami and Popo creep closer.

In your current state, there isn't much you can do to help your friends. You really have no choice but to sit back and let the others handle this monster on their own.

Slug's arms stretch out toward Krillin and Kori. Your old friend manages to get out of the way, but Kori is not so lucky, finding herself trapped in Slug's massive hand.

"Kori!" Krillin shouts, raising his right hand and creating a disk of energy.

"Not so fast, pipsqueak!" Slug tells him, grinning wickedly. "Make one little move, and I'll crush this little girl!"

Cursing, Krillin allows his disk to vanish, slowly lowering his arm as Slug chuckles darkly, the massive Namekian's entire body shaking.

"Good," Slug tells Krillin, raising his free hand and pointing at your friend. "Hold still now, this will only hurt for a second...."

Krillin gulps, but remains still, closing his eyes and waiting for Slug to kill him.

Yamcha, struggling to stand, curses. "Krillin! Get out of the way!"

Slug glances toward the two of you. "If he does, you can say goodbye to the kid. Come to think of it, same goes for you two twerps. Stay right there!"

He looks back toward Krillin. "Now, say goodbye!"

What follows next is a scream, but not from Krillin. An orange blur moves through the air, and Slug cries out in agony as his finger is sliced off by a katana.

As the finger falls, you see the orange shape fall with it, and are able to get a better look. It's a person, a person you recognize and haven't seen in a while.

Yajirobe lands beside the fallen finger, putting his sword away and lifting the piece of Slug over his head.

"I'm keeping this!" he shouts in your direction before running off as fast as he can.

"You're not going anywhere!" Slug shouts, holding his wounded hand toward the fleeing fool and gathering energy.

However, before he can strike, he hisses, and raises his other hand, the palm of which has been scorched.

Kori hovers in front of him, breathing quickly and gathering energy to attack. This ends up being unnecessary, as Kami takes that moment to strike.

"MAFUBA!" you hear the Guardian shout.

A green beam of light strikes Slug, who cries out in surprise as his body seems to stretch to impossible proportions, trapped in the swirling vortex of the Mafuba.

"Alright!" Yamcha shouts, grinning and pumping his fist.

Popo holds the jar open, and Kami waves his arms, turning the vortex back into a beam, which shoots toward the jar and vanishes inside. Popo quickly closes the jar up, and what follows is silence.

"You did bring another Talisman, right?" you call to Kami and Popo.

"Of course," Kami calls back, sounding offended by the question. "We'll be fine so long as nobody opens this jar. I'll make sure it's kept in a safe place."

He looks toward Popo. "Please, return this to the Lookout, put him with Garlic Junior."

"Yes, Kami," Popo says to his master, climbing aboard his carpet and vanishing from sight.

Kami looks toward Krillin and Kori, smiling. "Thank you both. Without your help, I couldn't have pulled that off. The world is in your debt."

He looks toward you and Yamcha. "And yours as well, of course."

He approaches both of you. "You fought bravely, though I wish you'd managed to kill Slug."

"What do you mean?" Yamcha asks.

"The Black Star Balls?" Yamcha asks, putting two and two together.

"Trust me, none of us want this kind of hassle again." Yamcha tells him.

That attack Slug did to destroy the city last thread? That wasn't even close to how big and devastating our Nuclear Weapons are/get. Also Ki doesn't have the lasting or biological damaging effects of the radiation of a nuclear blast, not to mention if we figure out how to do it we could spam it and near the end of Z have a Nuclear version of Hell Zone Grenade, or just make it a sweeping attack.

That's sad though, because Dragonball is mostly 1v1 from this point on. Large radius attacks are practically useless. My God we could actually hold off the Meta-Cooler Army though if we successfully learned it in time.

The reason we can use Kumaken so well is because we are the Master of Ki, we are the Ki-based Space Monk Fighter Wizard. We can't just teach people Kumaken and expect it to work, it takes years of practice and discipline (that we seemingly forgot) to actually obtain Kumaken.

Yamcha leaves your room soon after, giving you a few minutes to rest before the others make it back to Capsule Corp. Staggering over to your bed, you fall onto the soft mattress, sighing with exhaustion. You could probably use a shower, but you could also use a nap. Then again, Bulma or somebody will probably interrupt you either way when they get back.

Taking a moment, you sense for Krillin and Kori, finding them each heading for their respective homes. Suno will no doubt be relieved to see her daughter, and Chichi will probably be ecstatic to see Krillin, especially once he tells her of his heroics.

You smile; some things never change.

You get out of bed and move to the window, opening it up and sticking out your head just in time to see the others disembarking from the airship. You see Bulma, Trunks, Lazuli, Oolong, Puar, but no sign of Doctor Briefs or his wife. They probably stayed to watch their pets.

As Bulma capsulizes the airship, you shout to the others, who look up toward you. Bulma grins, while Oolong laughs happily, and Puar smiles. The cat quickly rushes inside, probably looking for Yamcha, and Lazuli waves at you before following. Bulma and Oolong head for the front entrance, and a couple of minutes later, the door to your room is reopened, revealing Oolong and Bulma, the latter of whom is holding your son.

"Hehe, looks like you did it again, eh kid?" Oolong asks with a smile. "Everyone else thought you were dead meat, but I knew you'd make it!"

Bulma smacks him upside the head. "Liar! You wanted to get in a spaceship and go to another planet because "Tofoo's gonna get himself killed for the fourth time"!"

Oolong chuckles nervously, looking over at you. "Well, yeah, I mean, eventually. We all gotta go sometime!"

"Some of us sooner than others," Bulma tells him with a glare before looking at you. "How does pork sound for dinner?"

"Tasty," you answer, looking toward Oolong, who looks ready to wet himself.

"Uh...I'm just gonna go for a walk, check out the new candy store down the street..." he says nervously, slowly backing out of the room. "Anybody want anything? No? Okay, see you!"

The pig dashes down the hall, and Trunks starts to giggle. Bulma sighs before closing the door, giving the three of you some privacy.

"He wasn't totally wrong, though," you tell her. "Things got nuts out there."

Bulma's glare is directed toward you this time. "Tofoo, if you'd gotten yourself killed a fourth time, less than a day after I wished you back, I'd have come to Otherworld and killed you a fifth time!"

Trunks looks up at his mother, silent and wide-eyed.

Bulma glances down at Trunks, beginning to gently rock him back and forth before looking at you. "So, what was the deal with those aliens anyway?"

"Well, Kami thinks that Slug might have been the one to create them," you explain.

Bulma's eyes widen, and the color drains from her face. "But if somebody like that was looking for those balls...."

"Who are you calling?" you shout after your wife as she heads down the hallway.

"The other people looking for the balls," you hear her shout back. "Just watch Trunks for a couple of minutes."

Your son stares up into your eyes, not making a sound at the moment. You take a seat on the bed, holding him as you grab the remote and flip on the television, looking for something to watch with your son.

Trunks turns his head toward the sound of the television, and you start searching channels, skipping over the various news programs covering the destruction in North and West City. You pass a few of the exercise shows Oolong loves to watch, and some movie about a flying peach or something. When you find some show about talking trains, Trunks starts to laugh, reaching toward the television.

Shrugging, you set down the remote, leaving the show on.

It's pretty simplistic, with voice-acting that's kind of crappy, and a very mundane plot of trains doing various activities, with the conflict seeming to be problems like trees falling on the railroad tracks.

Trunks seems enthralled, but something about the faces on those things disturbs you.

Bulma comes back into the room shortly after, heading for her closet and grabbing an outfit much like what she wore to Namek, heading into the bathroom and changing.

"I need to make a quick trip," Bulma tells you from the bathroom. "Keep an eye on Trunks until I get back."

"You're not travelling into space again, are you?" you ask your wife as Trunks continues to watch television.

"No, just to North City," she tells you from the bathroom. "I called the guys, and they say that their radar's picking up five Dragonballs on Earth. They only dropped three off here before, so that means those creeps you fought must have had two more."

The bathroom door opens, and Bulma steps out, putting on the rest of her outfit. "And before you ask, no, you can't come. I'm taking Puar and a blaster, so I'll be fine."

Nodding, you think of another question. "What kind of shows does Trunks watch?"

Bulma glances toward the television, smiling a bit. "Oh, he loves this show. This channel usually runs a few hours of it every day, so just let him watch that and he'll be happy as can be."

"But this show is awful," you groan.

"It's for small children," Bulma tells you as she heads for the door. "It's not supposed to be high art. Anyway, I'm leaving."

"Be safe," you tell her.

"I always am," she says with a smile before leaving the room.

Unfortunately, Bulma is correct, and this program continues running for hours. You've endured some intense training in your day, but this is almost beyond your capacity to deal with. Trunks, however, still seems very interested, and you wonder what kind of monster you and your wife have created. Then again, when you were Trunks' age, maybe you would have enjoyed this show if your family got more than six channels.

"If you become as smart as your mom, never make trains with faces," you tell your son.

Trunks glances up at you, smiles, then lets out a yawn, his eyes beginning to close.

Thank Kami, Trunks is getting sleepy, which means that you won't have to watch this abomination of a show anymore. Getting up, you carry your son to his room, placing him gently in his crib, turning on his baby monitor, and heading back to your room.

Once you've made sure that the baby monitor is on in your room as well, you pull out some clothes and go to take a shower, the warm water feeling very nice as you clean yourself up.

Coming out of the bathroom, you put your clothes on, when you notice that the television is still playing that show. You go to grab the remote, but can't seem to find it.

With Trunks sleeping, and the television insisting on providing more and more of this horrible nonsense for your viewing displeasure, you decide to go see if you kind find Bulma's parents. You grab the baby monitor and take it with you, just in case, then head for the atrium, where you normally find either Doctor Briefs or his wife.

Sure enough, you spot Mrs. Briefs watering the multitude of plants found in this massive area, smiling and humming to herself all the while.

Sighing inwardly, you speak again. "Where's Doctor Briefs?"

"Oh, he's in the lab, sweety," she tells you. "Anywho, would you like some lunch? I can make sandwiches in no time at all."

You take another bite of your sandwich. Somehow this woman can make even the most simple thing absolutely delicious. And, the beer is nice and refreshing, a great little lunch.

"Well, I don't know dear," Mrs. Briefs says, not seeming to get that you're joking. "I just remember when she was younger she kept going on and on about wishing for the perfect boyfriend."

And that's how the two of you met. Funny how things work out.

You take a moment to explain things to her, doing it in the most slow and concise manner that you can. When you finish, Mrs. Briefs does indeed seem to understand, at least a little bit.
