You are William Pierce, but now you are also Will2Fight, the level 73 Foxtail Monk. It has been about two and a half full days since you arrived in the world of Elder tale. You are not sure how it happened, but here you are, trapped in the game along with everyone else who happened to be playing at the time.

Food is tasteless, NPCs are like real people, you are being haunted by some sort of static inducing lever ghost, and raid bosses are apparently intelligent. On top of all that, the city that you are currently stuck in may be on the verge of being overrun by endless numbers of undead, the weakest of which are at least 7 levels higher than you.

After completing a raid with your friends in the <Kool Kids Klub>, you and your roommate, Paradigm, a level 68 enchanter girl trapped in a dwarf's body, were on your way back to the city of Portage. As you went, she asked you what you wanted to do in the future now that you were in this world and after some thought, you said you might want to run a bar thanks to your Brewer subclass. Somehow, you ended up talking about some rather heavy stuff, and in an effort to fix the mood, you ended up carrying her while running most of the way back to the city. Before you could get home though, you noticed something that made you stop in your tracks.

Paradigm clutches your arm tightly and you hold her child sized body close to you. She is shaking. You probably are too.

One of the seven fires that sit along the peaks of the mountain range looming over the city has gone out.

This has severe implications given what you have learned about NPCs and monsters so far.

If the lore holds true, those fires are the only things keeping death at bay for everyone living in Portage. If all seven were to go out, the Midnight Sun, a powerful barrier protecting the city, will set and all hope will be lost.

Before you were stuck here, you are pretty sure the fires did not actually go out no matter what, they were just a part of the region's lore and quest line.

But now?

The darkness that creeps across the face of the unlit peak proves that is no longer the case.

"We have to tell everyone." you say.

Paradigm nods her head in agreement.

Now isn't the time to be scared. That comes later. Now is the time for action. You start running towards the city at full tilt. Paradigm holds onto your furry jacket sleeve for dear life.

The city is full of adventurers, and many of them are much higher levels than you are. If you can get the word out, the spattering of 90s stuck in town can probably carve their way through anything waiting in the darkness with ease and relight the fire.

But if one fire has gone out, what if the others are running low on fuel too? Someone will have to go and refuel them as soon as possible, or everything may be over before anyone even has a chance to stop it.

Maybe the fire just went out from a lack of fuel, but there are other more sinister possibilities to consider as well. The dead cannot set foot where the light of the midnight sun touches, and that includes the light cast by the beacons, but adventurers and other monsters don’t have that limit. You don't want to think about it, but sabotage is certainly not something you can rule out.

PKers may be lying in wait for whoever goes to light that fire again.

You finally reach the gates of the city and

You realize you probably should tell Hiroshima to tell the <Kool Kids Klub> guys what is going on too.

You find his name on your friends list and call.
Ring… Ring..

"Yo, whats up?"

"Bad news. One of the fires is out."

"Fires? Please don’t tell me you are talking about the ones on the mountain…"

"What other fires are worth calling someone about?"

"Shit! Are you kidding me?!"

"Would I joke about something like that?"

"I don’t think anyone would. Well almost anyone. Some people might. Some people are total assholes…"

"Fair point, but what do you think we should do?"

"Get some wood up there ASAP."

"I don't think we can do that." you say "That peak is probably crawling in 80+ undead, and plus it may be a trap set by Pkers to lure people away from the city and the <Morning Stars>."

"Shit that’s definitely possible…"

"Do you guys think you can get fuel to any of the other beacons? You should have an hour or so head start towards Range and the furthest north peak."

"Alright, good idea! I'll call up some people I know and make sure the word gets out, then we will knock over some trees or something and start heading for the nearest one to us to make sure it doesn’t run out too."

"Alright, thanks. Lets all have a drink when you guys get back. A real one."

"Are you telling me you found out how to make real drinks?" Somehow he doesn’t sound too surprised, but maybe he just has a good poker-voice. Is that a thing? Close enough.

"Yeh. Sorry I didn't say so earlier, we only just met you guys." you say with a twinge of guilt.

"I get it. Secrets are secrets. We can keep our mouths shut. We won't fuck you over like some people would. "

"Thanks again. Tell everyone we said Good luck."

"Yeh. Later man."
Click.

You hang up the call and start heading for the town center. Even with the help of the <Kool Kids Klub>, if you and Paradigm get the one south of the city, that’s still only two beacons out of seven and won't do much to help lighting the one that went out…

Easiest way.

Posting a quest at the guild is really passive and requires people to check the quest board or however that works.
>>
>>2197290
It's also the best way to avoid telling pkers that people will be out of town. Since some of these lvl 90 not associated with the Morning Stars can just be Pkers that will back stab us once we have out backs to then. Don't forget we are just a lvl 75 monk.
>>

I mean, it's not like we'd have to leave town once letting everyone know. And the town is safe anyway, so the risk is minimal. We could just focus on cranking out the beer for the after party.

I don't think Pkers would be interested in drinking more in killing people going out for the quest. Because they may still think this is a game and try to use it as a excuse to kill people and grab their gold.

There is the fact that by the end of this quest if lots of people show up we might not be able to procude enough drinks for everyone. And we might end up without any ingredients to make more booze by the end of it.

I'm thinking more in a long distant plan. But this would be ideal to spread the drinking and give people some hope i guess?

But the we run back at the fact we might end up without ingredients and pkers will have us as a target. since to get the ingredie t we would need to either buy from the landers or go out and hunt mobs for their loot

How can you get the other adventurers to do something? This problem needs immediate action… Maybe you can post a quest? How would you even do that? You have no idea.

"Hey, do you have any idea how we might be able to get a quest posted?" you ask Paradigm.

"Maybe we can go to the guild hall? I mean, That’s where the Sage is, he gave out all the quests in the storyline. And if he can't do it, maybe the receptionists can or something?"

"Do you think that will work?"

"No idea! If worst comes to worst, maybe we can just write it on the message board ourselves?"

"Alright, better than doing nothing!" you say as you run towards the guild hall.

You barge through the door and run into something you forgot about. There is at least a twenty minute line.

"Emergency! Let me through!" you shout trying to push your way past.

A level 85 swashbuckler named OnTheFence grabs you as you try and push by him.

"Wait your turn like everyone else dude, come one."

"Did you not hear me? I said it was an emergency!"

"I'm sure it can wait."

"One of the fires went out along the top of the mountains!" you practically yell in his face.

A dark look crosses his face. "Emergency! One of the fires is out! Get out of the way!" he yells as he starts helping you push towards the counter.
>>
>>2197432

>>
>>2197452
That definitely seems to cause a stir. People start talking to each other, and rather quickly a panic breaks out. Many of them run out of the guild hall to look for themselves.

The three of you make it to a counter and the receptionist looks at you with a horror struck face. "Is it true?!" She asks in fear "I was worried when you adventurers stopped taking the fuel to the braziers, but is one of the fires really out?! This hasn't happened in over 100 years!" She wails in despair.

100 years? Hmm. If you think in terms of game time, that makes some sense… The expansion that opened up this area was around 10 years ago, and each day IRL is 12 game days.

"Yes, you can go look for yourself if you don't believe me, but the second furthest west fire is out." you say gravely. "We want to know if there is any way you can post a quest."

"I don't have the power to do that, but I can get Sage Terril, surely he can rouse some adventurers to the cause! They are always asking him for things to do and usually he just has them run some sort of pointless errand to keep them busy!"

Well, that explains that quest line…

"Thanks, if you can think of any other way to get the word out, please do." you say, "Oh, and for good measure, tell anyone else who comes to the guild if you can."

The guild lady nods and runs off, presumably to find the Sage.

Hopefully that will be enough, but you are still worried…

Alot of the people who play elder tale are relatively older than usual for MMOs since the game is so old. Most adventurers are in their 20s and that generally means they have their act at least somewhat together.

Also pretty much everyone over level 60 has at least started the quest line here, and many of the 80+ players are doing/have done the second half of it. The expansion teased a legion raid in this area that was supposed to end the quest line (the level 100 one without a specific location on the map), so people have been hyped up for it too.

You head back out into the plaza in front of the courtyard. Everyone is panicking. Somebody needs to get them organized and set them on task. That somebody might as well be you. This seems like about as good a time as any to capitalize on your discovery.

You make your way up onto the platform where the broken fairy gate stands quietly over the gathered crowd.

"Hey!" you yell into the swarm of players. Nobody seems to give you the time of day.

Paradigm looks at you with a gleam in her eye. She points her staff and you start yelling incredibly loudly.
"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYY PAY ATTENTIOOOOOOON!!!!" That seems to have done it. It seems Mage Howling can be used for this as well. Everyone is staring at you.

"A bottle of free beer to everyone who helps get the fires lit!" you yell.

"The fuck kinda reward is that?" someone asks.

"They are like 10G on the AH retard!" someone else adds

"Do those have taste?" you ask.

The crowd goes silent.

"Are you saying yours does?" a Cleric in the front row asks.

"See for yourself." you say as you hand him a bottle.

"Holy shit! He ain't joking!" The cleric shouts.
>>
>>2197950

The crowd starts whispering among themselves, you can hear sever people saying he is in on it, so you toss several more into the crowd.

"Fuck! This guy's legit!"

"Its real! Its Really real!"

"God Hasn't abandoned us!"

"I'm not old enough to drink, someone else take it!"

"You heard the guy! Lets get some fires lit!"

"OOOHHH!!!!!" a cheer goes through the crowd and they start breaking off into parties.

"Whoever is going to the dark one, be careful! Its probably covered in undead and maybe Pkers! Also, we already have some people heading towards the beacon closest to Range, so that one is all set!" you yell out to the masses.

From where you are standing, it looks like things are going well. A party of 90s is rapidly assembling led by Allbright, the cleric, and after only a few minutes, more people start running out of the side streets to join the crowd. Looks like the word is out, you are going to have a ton of brewing to do soon.

In short order, the 90s have formed a full raid of 24 people to retake the unlit beacon. They will probably be able to blow through anything in their way. You feel relieved, it would seem your strategy worked a bit too well.

"If anyone wants to come along, we are heading to the south beacon personally." you shout out.

I think we would be better served barricading ourselves in the brewery and churning out beers instead. Every hour of our time spent that way would probably buy half a dozen manhours from players of higher levels than us.
>>
>>2197955
Suddenly you are swarmed by adventurers. Two of them in particular stand out, Whisperer, the level 71 Druid 82 Wood Crafter who you were raiding with before everyone got stuck here, and OnTheFence the level 85 Swashbuckler 85 Duelist who helped you earlier.

You don't really want too many people since your beacon should be the easiest, so you point out to them and they join you on the platform.

"Alright! Make sure someone from every party adds me and has a list of who went. I want to make sure everyone gets the reward they deserve. Good Luck and God Speed!"

The adventurers cheer again and storm off towards the directions of their respective gates, as they go, you are bombarded with friend requests and quickly accept them all. That’s a lot more than 5…

As you head towards the south gate, you get a call from someone named DesertFox from <Touch Fluffy Tail>.

You accept the call and the voice of a young woman sounds in your head. "Hello? Is this Hiroshima's friend?"

"Yes?"

"Nice to meet you, I'm DesertFox, he said you could use some help."

You recall him saying he had been offered to join that guild several times, so its not really surprising that he is friends with one of them. Looks like that’s who he was calling.

"Sure, that would be great. Meet us at the south gate of the city in like 10 minutes."

"Alright. See you there."

Click.

We should try to get ourselves some new mounts at some point. A flying mount or something would be helpful.

How expensive are horses? Considering there are other mounts available, such as the gryphons that Shiroe rode on, I imagine horses are probably one of the cheaper variants, relatively speaking. Granted, the gryphons were from a whistle he got on a raid but eh.

You are tired of legging it like a pleb. The three plus hours you have already run today are more than enough for you, and its about time you got a mount.

Well, when you say that, you mean a mount that works here. Your normal horse just gets slowed when it is in the snow, and it ends up being the same speed as normal running. Unless you are a cavalier or something, which you are not.

With all the money you expect to be rolling in from the sale of beer over the next week, you can spare the expense.

"Lets go get some mounts first, It’s a long walk there, and we have already run enough for one day." you say.

"Sure, why not." Whisperer agrees.

"Aww, I kinda liked being princess carried." Paradigm says with a smirk.

"Lewd." Whisperer says.

"I already have one, but I don't mind taking a pit stop." OnTheFence adds.

As you turn to leave, you feel a hand on your shoulder. "I couldn't help but overhear that you need a horse."

You turn around and find OrbitalBlur staring at you from under his cowboy hat and large glasses. For a magic class, he sure is fast and quiet. You didn't notice him at all.

"Yes, is that going to get us hanged or something?"

"No. That’s for criminals, not defenders of Justice. If you are looking for a guild, <Morning Star> is always looking for proactive individuals. Brimstone, sends his regards, keep up the good fight." He says putting several whistles into your hand and walking off while waving his cowboy hat back in your direction.

Maybe he isn't so bad after-all. Sure he was glaring at you the whole time, but 5 of these whistles are 1.5 Million gold…

With a hand full of expensive whistles, you head for the South gate.

When you arrive, a level 90 Foxtail woman is standing there waiting.
<Touch Fluffy Tail> DesertFox, 90 Bard, 90 General.
Looks like Hiroshima has some friends in high places.

"Nice to meet you." She says looking at your party. "Good choice by the way, Fox Tail master race." she says greeting you with a wink. She is tall and blond/blue eyed beauty with a yellow tail that looks more suited to South Angel or Pueblo than Portage. Between her name, her "master race" comment, and her character's style, you can see why Hiroshima likes her.

"Thanks." you say. Fox tails are more of a weird race than a master race in your opinion. Only masochists, people who don't know the game, and people willing to grind through numerous characters until they get lucky play them. You were in the second group when you made the character, but thankfully luck was on your side and you got skills that are actually incredibly useful.

<Touch Fluffy Tail> is usually full of the third variety.

You hand out the whistles, but DesertFox and OnTheFence refuse. Looks like you just made 600k. You will split it with Paradigm later.

Everyone goes out of the city into the snow and blows on their whistles.

Four Courier Moose and a Jingle Reindeer come running out of the forests in the distance, as your moose rushes past you, you naturally hop up onto it. The others do the same, and Desert Fox hops onto the reindeer.

Its probably about a two hour ride, anything you want to talk about with anyone?

So going Foxtail gives a number of random skills while taking some away? I know on our character sheet it mentioned losing a couple of skills. How does that work exactly? What's the appeal for rolling Foxtail? Besides fluffy ears and tail I guess.
>>2198339
What this guy said. Best bar is neutral bar.
>>
>>2198382
Fox tails have a 30% chance to lose a main class skill every ten levels. When they lose a skill, they gain a new one from a random class. In addition to this, they get a big bonus on INT and WIS, some special skills, and some minor true damage on their auto attacks.

A lot of people roll them for the looks, but some people roll them over and over again going for a useable combo with the potential to have incredible stats and special surprises up their sleeves. You know at least one of the 5 best PVPers in the game is in <Touch Fluffy Tail> and relies on their incredibly lucky combo to overwhelm their opponents.

From what you know about Hiroshima's skills so far, he may be on the way to surpassing them in terms of damage output as long as he doesn't get gimped at 80 or 90.
>>
>>2198382
>How does that work exactly?
Each time you level up you randomly loose a skill, which is replaced by another random skill. That's why we are a monk with assassinate a assassin exclusive skill.

>What's the appeal for rolling Foxtail?

Hardcore mode and also the skill to get mutiple skills from various jobs and create the perfect combo. You can be a fox tail enchnater but have some healing from the cleric job if you are lucky in your selection. Is a very hard race but it can be very game breaking to.
>>
>>2198423
Fox tail master race.
>>
>>2198423
Well damn, that sounds like a lot of fun. Checking the character sheet again, we gained assassinate, which is nice with a stealth ability we have, and dual bets, which is really nice for a monk.
We lost adhesion bee and long range covering, what do those do?
>>
>>2198444
Long range covering lets you take the damage that would be dealt to someone on your back line as a reaction, Adhesion Bee makes you appear behind someone as a reaction if they use a movement skill like a blink, dash, or teleport, giving you a free extra Major action attack on them.
>>

Long Range Covering is mostly good as a PVP skill. Adhesion Bee is a shame to lose, but Assassinate generates CRAZY Hate, so with proper application it's actually pretty useful to us.

As you ride along, you feel like you should make some conversation to pass the time. You already have plenty of time to talk with Paradigm and you have talked with Whisperer before, so you figure you should talk to one of the two new faces.

Since you have heard plenty of horror stories about Fox tail players stuck with entirely unviable builds, you decide to ask her about DesertFox experience with the race.

"So," you start "How long have you been playing?"

"Oh, I go way back," she says "Probably about 15 years now?" Wow. That’s a long time to play one game.

Slightly intimidated, you ask "Have you been playing Fox Tails the entire time?"

"Oho? So are you interested? Want to hear a story?"

"Sure." you say

"Alright, sure." she says. "The price is I get to touch your tail."

You stare at her for a second. "Only if I get to touch yours." you say.

"You are a bold one, huh? Don't you know its rude to ask a lady that?" You did not. Or maybe you kinda did. You had a general feeling at the very least, but you said it anyways.

"Hey, it’s not rude if we are both doing it, right?"

"Hmm~ Perhaps~" she hums.

You ride your moose closer to her reindeer and she reaches over to touch your tail.

"Its coarse and thick, very different from Hiro's or Sammy's~, maybe because you are a monk.~ A big strong tail for a big strong guy." It feels nice. Very nice. You can feel your cheeks turning red, this is rather embarrassing, it feels strangely intimate.

"Alright big guy, your turn~" She rides her reindeer in front of you and flicks her tail into your lap.
>>
>>2198684
You pet it. Its very soft and fluffy. Much more so than your own. You want to snuggle with it. Its like what you imagine heaven would feel like if heaven came out of a lady's ass.

That seemed a lot less dirty before you thought it. Either way, it feels wonderful. Crap, this could become an addiction

"MMMMH~ AHHH~N" she says (moans?) as you pet it. "Oh yes~ right there~!" You aren't sure if its genuine or she is doing this on purpose.

Paradigm looks over at you with a slight pout showing on her face.

"Lewd." says whisperer looking a bit jealous.

OnTheFence looks jealous too, but he seems jealous of you rather than DesertFox.

"All right big boy, that’s about enough for now.~" she says flicking her tail back to the other side of her reindeer and moving away from you a bit.

"So, here is my story."
"About 15 years ago, I started playing Elder tale. When I did, I was just coming out of middle school. I rolled up a sorcerer and my friend rolled up an enchanter." You nod as she talks. "Back then, I didn't know how wonderful this race was, so I was only a stupid elf." Whisperer seems to take a slight offense at that. She continues; "Anyways, after I got that account to 70, I was kinda bored. Oh, that was the max level back 10 years ago… That’s a bit after when I met Hiro."

Apparently the two of them go way back.
>>
>>2198689
"He was playing a fox tail and had just reached 70 himself. After we played together for a while, he decided that he wanted to try again for a better combo since his skills felt weak. I thought it was an interesting Idea, so I went along with it and rolled a Fox Tail character too. We kept doing that, and we found a bunch of other players to do it with as well, and that’s how <Touch Fluffy Tail> was formed."

Does that mean she is the guild master? No, on second thought, you are pretty sure the guild master is the PVP guy now, FoxyGrandpa, that was it. Maybe she handed it off to him. Being a guild master of a big guild is fairly stressful after all.

"Now here we are, I'm 7 characters in and I'm finally satisfied. Hiro though? That’s his thirteenth character. I would probably have stopped at most 5 characters ago, but that guy is just way too into it." Is that serious? Thirteen fucking characters?! Jesus Christ, you haven't even gotten one to 90.

"So, did you like my story? Want to join the guild? Hiro wont come back since he is off with /pol/, but we could always use some more of our kind, especially now that we are a rare breed.~" she says with a voice loaded with implications.

"Maybe I will eventually," you reply, "I am still not sure what I want to do for a guild."

"Oh come now, I saw the look in your eye while you were petting my tail~, You know there are plenty more fox girls there.~" That’s… Tempting. Very tempting.

But right now you are pretty sure you want to stay with Paradigm and you know that they won't let non Fox tails join.

Would you like to talk about anything else as you go?

Hearing the origin story of <Touch Fluffy Tail> kinda makes you want to join a guild. Actually, more than join a guild, you kinda think you want to start your own. You already have a product, so that’s checked off. With how much demand for it there obviously is, you could definitely make some real money.

"So on the topic of guilds, do you guys think a brewing guild would work?" you ask, "I learned how to make beer and other drinks have taste, do you think it would be possible to make a guild with other brewers and open up a Bar or something?"

"Beer with real taste? Hmm~ Maybe that was what Hiro meant when he said it would probably be worth my while helping you guys out.~" DesertFox says "When I saw you, I had assumed he just meant that he found another potential recruit, but that’s just as good in my opinion.~ I could really use a drink."

Why the hell not. You pull out some beers and pass them around.

"Kanpai!~" the foxtail shouts.

"Kanpai!" the rest of you join in the cheers. This game really is full of weebs…

The fox woman downs her beer in seconds.
"Puaahh!~ That was delicious big boy~ I might just let you pet my tail some more if you keep me hydrated.~" She holds her hand out.

You hand her another beer.

"Thank you darling, that’s the stuff~"

You look around the group to see if anyone else needs a refill and notice that Paradigm is still pouting. Is she jealous? You weren't sure if you were close enough for her to be jealous. It seems a bit fast, but you have never been in any sort of relationship before. Asperger's is a hell of a drug when it comes to that kind of stuff, so you figure you are probably misreading something.

You hand her another beer as well, then get one for yourself and clink your bottle against hers. Hopefully she will take that as an apology.

After you have all had a couple beers, you remember that you were trying to ask a question.

"So do you guys think it would work?"

"Maybe." says OnTheFence "I mean, its kinda limited by how willing people are to keep your method a secret, right?"

"Yeh, the cat is right, someone will probably just learn your secret and sell it." says Whisperer.

That’s probably a good point. You should probably be more hesitant in finding other brewers to show the method if you want to control it. Its entirely possible that they will join your guild just long enough to steal it and sell it for millions, or perhaps even billions of gold to one of the production guilds. The big ones would definitely have some interest in it. Perhaps you should just sell it to each of them. If you sell it to one, you can pretty much bet the others will be clambering for it as well, possibly for an even higher price, before the first makes too much money off the monopoly and drives them out of competition.

"If I were in your position, I think I would just do what you were saying earlier." Paradigm says. "Do it small scale, you will still make plenty of money and everyone will love you."

You think you like that idea the best after-all, just you, a couple of good friends, and a bar. Take things easy and enjoy life as it comes.
>>
>>2198981
"I doubt people will be willing to harm the only person giving them booze, and you can always just sell the method later on once you pay off the bar if things start getting dicey." That sounds slightly less pleasant, but it is a possibility. Holding a monopoly on such a hotly contested secret could prove to be fairly dangerous for you. "And even if you sell it, people will still remember you as the first and your bar would still probably get plenty of business."

You probably need more time to decide your course of action on this…
Good thing there is a two hour ride back after you are finished here. Plus, its not like you have to decide tonight. Who knows how many more days you will be stuck in this city? Time is all you have. You have too much of it. You would sell it if anyone was buying. Unfortunately, everyone who might is stuck right along with you in the same boat, that boat being the city of Portage.

You approach the end of the trail that your mounts can traverse, and you find yourself standing about three fourths of the way up the mountain.
[ ] Go through the dungeon like you would in the game. It is meant to be doable by a solo player at level 62, so your party will have no problem.
[ ] Climb the mountain. Its not a game anymore. A new path is open and waiting for you. As a monk you should have it easy.
[ ] Use Wyvern kick on the Ice goats along the slope until you can target the Frosted Condors circling the peak. In the game they were just untargetable scenery, but they seem to be fair game now.

I want the EXP, we're underleveled for a worst case scenario of the Midnight Sun going out and that mildly worries me. Not to mention to even get to the nearest major city we need to be at minimum level 80, if I recall correctly.

Also, I agree with this. Starting small with a few friends in a single bar is good. No need to mess around with strangers selling our secret. Paradigm is probably game to stick around. If we can get a chef that'd be amazing. We already extrapolated that a chef is required for actual food right? Getting a chef might be too risky, since if we start asking around, people might realize that the brewer who figured out how to make real alcohol asking for a chef means something.

The rest of the party dismounts and starts heading towards the entrance to the dungeon.

"Wait!" you say, "I have an idea!"

"Well? Don’t leave us hanging." says Paradigm.

"Ok, so you see those goats on the mountain?"

"Yeah, what about them?" asks OnTheFence.

"I can target them."

"Well, that’s new and interesting.~ How does that help us sweetie?~"

"Since I can target them, I can just use wyvern kick until I reach the top."

"That’s actually a pretty good idea." says Paradigm, walking over to you and grabbing onto the furry jacket on your back. "Lets see if it works."

Apparently she is coming with you.

"Alright, who has the logs?" you ask.

Everyone looks at you blankly.

"I didn't even think about that…" says OnTheFence.

"Wow, we really got caught up in the moment, huh" Paradigm adds.

"I just assumed you all had them already." says DesertFox with a swish of her tail and a shrug.

Whisperer raises her hand timidly. "I have some, I'm a wood crafter after all…"

Safe! Thank god! Now you wont have to climb back down half a mountain to get some wood.

"God bless you, you wonderful tree hugging elf!" you shout.

"I take offense to that!"

"Don't!"

She looks at you like you are an idiot. She is probably right. Either way, she gives you enough logs to put on the brazier for the repeatable quest and says "Try not to fall and die on your way back." while sticking out her tongue. Ouch. Cold. You can let that slide though since she just saved all your asses.

"Alright! Hang on tight! Wyvern airlines is about to depart!" you say as you target the first goat.

Paradigm tightens her grip. Her breath is warm on the back of your neck. It feels nice in the cold Alaskan air.

please don't hate me for this pun.

You make a running start and jump into the air. Your foot soars towards the goat and impacts on his face. The poor goat is sent flying off the mountain by your knockback, but you are now standing on the ledge it was just occupying.

You repeat the action several more times knocking a total of five more goats from their perches to certain death below. Sacrifices most be made for the greater good.

When you stand on the second highest ledge, it doesn’t seem like you will actually be able to reach a condor from the next one…

"Hold on tight, ok?" You hope she doesn’t get motion sickness easily…

You fly towards the other goat, and rather than simply kicking it off the ledge at the end of your wyvern kick, you chain Dragon's tail into your combo with Aerial Rave and send it into the sky. As it approaches the top of its arc, you fly after it with another Wyvern kick, sending it further into the air, where it bursts into bubbles. You are high enough now to target a condor though, so before you fall back down, you add another Wyvern kick into your combo and fly into it. It lives with a sliver of Hp, so you use Turning swallow, flipping over it and slamming your leg into it from above, sending it slamming to the peak below. It too explodes into bubbles.

You land shortly after it and take some minor fall damage, but for how quickly you got up here, it was worth it.

Paradigm gets off your back. "Ugh I feel like I'm gonna throw up again…"

"Go ahead and let it all out, I won't judge."

"Then it must be true love." she says while looking rather green in the face.

"Sorry about that, I didn't really think it would be high enough that I needed to use Dragon's Tail…"

"Nah, Its fine. Probably saved us half an hour. You get the logs on the fire while I take care of business over here…" she says walking over towards the opposite side of the peak from the party.

It looks like you got here just in time. The old logs are burning down to the last coals, and when you look out at the other peaks, two of the other fires have already gone out and one more looks like it could go any minute.

seriously, I swear to god I had to do it.

You carefully stack the logs onto the fire. Its fairly easy since you can literally reach all the way into the fire while only taking minimal damage, this is nothing compared to the Inferno Hiroshima made earlier.

Speaking of Hiroshima, you give him a call.

"Yo, we are almost there, whats the status on the other beacons? I can see a couple of them are out from where we are…"

"We are just now fueling up the one south of Portage." you say.

"Nice!" He think-shouts over the telepathy. "Jesus man, if you guys hadn't caught this when you did, we would all probably be royally fucked by the Entropic King's skele-dick."

That’s an unpleasant thought. Both the dying and being raped by a skeleton part. Thankfully you are pretty sure skeletons don't just go around doing that though, they just kill people. Although, that may not necessarily be true for every monster in this world, there are definitely plenty of savage humanoids to be found. More than plenty if you include the population of the South American server… Hiroshima would probably enjoy that joke.

"Alright, call us back when you guys light up your beacon. Good luck, stay safe."

"You too."
Click.

After you finish stacking all the logs into the fire and all the rest you cant balance on top in the brazier's magic box next to it, you go look for Paradigm to head back.

The dwarf wipes some puke off the edge of her mouth, and you offer her a water-beer to rinse and gargle with.

"Thanks." she says.

"No problem. Fire is all set, lets head back down."

"Carry me with your hands this time, I don't know if my grip can take another one of those…"

It’s a long way down…

"Lets sled down!" you say.

"With what?" Paradigm asks, "You get the sleds at the entrance of the dungeon." Oh yeah…

Back when it was a game, they added those to make it a bit quicker getting back to the bottom of the slope. It was a well received patch. Now that this is all real, you are staring down an incline that would probably equate to a black diamond on a skiing mountain you frequented as a kid. It’s a little intimidating, but with this body, you are 99% sure you can handle it.

"Do you have a piece of metal big enough for us to sit on?"

"Yeh, I have a bunch of it… Is this really a good idea?"

"Probably, not, but I'll bet it’s a fun idea!"

"Can't argue with that logic! Not like broken bones are anything a healer cant fix anyways." she rationalizes.

You take the big heavy metal plate and place it on the snow, then down a shot of "Liquid Courage" for good measure. Paradigm gladly takes one as well.
You bend the plate back at its edges a bit to make a nice sledding surface. Its fairly easy with your Monk strength. Apparently it doesn't count as engineering either since the plate bends and doesn’t just shatter or something.

"Alright. I'll call them and we can race!" This idea is getting better and better.

You call DesertFox.
Ring..
"You guys all good up there?"

"Yeh, lets race down. Tell everyone to grab a sled."

"Sure, one sec.~"

You sit down on the sled and get ready. Paradigm sits down on your lap. She has a soft butt. You keep that thought to yourself and grab onto her with one hand.

"Alright, ready?"

"On your marks!
Get Set!

Go!"

You push off the top of the hill with your free hand and rapidly start gaining speed. The top quarter of the mountain is quite a bit steeper than the bottom, and you quickly go barreling by Whisperer who got a late start.

You rapidly approach DesertFox and OnTheFence and quickly pass them as well.

Then you hear music. DesertFox slides by you and you eat the powder her sled sprays behind it.

She is playing a bard song on her bow like it was a lute! Is that cheating? You aren't sure, but if she can do it, so can you!

"Cast haste on our sled!" you shout to Paradigm.

"Aye Aye Captain!" she shouts, "Haste!" The sled glows white and suddenly you are going even faster. Bard songs are a much longer buff, but they cant compete with Haste! The two of you barrel down the slope in your home-made sled. The end of the hill is in sight. Its neck and neck! Almost….

Dammit! So close! Your Haste spell runs out of duration just before you pass her. She slides across the finish line seconds before you.

"Aww." says Paradigm.

"Hey, don't worry, we are still second." you say "Plus she had a huge head start." "And maybe cheated depending how you count that…" You whisper the last part to her quietly so DesertFox doesn't overhear.

Whisperer comes in next, you were expecting it to be OnTheFence…

You look up the slope and he is sledding down covered in snow and pine needles. Looks like he crashed somehow.

Paradigm slowly gets out of your lap. It was a nice feeling while it lasted… You get up after her.

OnTheFence crosses the finish line.

"Alright~ What did I win?" DesertFox asks.

"What do you want?" you ask.

"Oh, I think you know big boy.~"

Oh…

You turn around and present your fluffy tail to her. She kicks you in the butt. "Not that, give me liquor!~ Liquor!~ The best bottle you have!" she whines.

"Oh." You turn around and blush a bit. Woops… You really misread that one. Paradigm looks relieved at least. Maybe she really is jealous. You will have to let her pet your tail later. Girls love fluffy tails.

You hand DesertFox a bottle of your highest level liquor, a bottle of champagne, and another bottle of vodka just in case its alcohol content doesn't correspond to its level. You have plenty of it and its easy to make anyways, plus you are going to be busy brewing all day tomorrow as it is to supply all the adventurers.

"A round of applause for our lovely winner!" you shout.

Everyone claps and cheers while DesertFox pops the bottle of champagne.

You may not have won, but you are glad you came up with the idea. The world may be dark and full of terrors, but at its core, this all used to be a game. What kind of person would you be if you cant enjoy a game?

After your celebration ends, you all mount back up and start heading back to the city. You check your menu clock, it is 3 am. You will never get used to the whole "Eternal Twilight" thing… That’s another full day done. This time, you actually think you had a pretty good day today.

Would you like to talk about anything on the way back?

As you ride back through the twilight that serves as night here, you pull your moose alongside Paradigm's.

"So, what do you think about today?"

"You're a perv."

"What brought that on?"

"Don't think I didn't see your face when you two were petting each other's tails earlier. And then you offered to let her do it again? I see your game. Perv!" she pouts.

"You want to pet it, don't you."

"No." she huffs and faces away from you.

"Come on, I can read your face too." you say slyly, "I know you want too~" you flick your tail over towards her.

She reaches out to pet it…
You flick it away before she can!

She looks betrayed.

"Oh come on, don't look at me like that, I'm just messing with you. You can pet it all the way back if you want."

"Just for that, I'm taking you up on that offer." she says and puffs up her cheeks cutely.

"Its not as soft as DesertFox's, but help yourself." you say, picking her up off her moose and putting her down behind you.
Thankfully the moose comes with a fairly large saddle to accommodate THICCer characters, so there is just enough room for a rather slim Fox tail and a smol dwarf. You would probably be out of luck if you were a guardian.
As she leaves the saddle, her moose senses that it is dismissed and runs off into the forests that line the trail.
>>
>>2199355

She starts stroking your tail. "What was she talking about when she said it was coarse? Its so fluffy~ I feel like I'm holding a cloud!~" she exclaims lost in the pleasure of your luxurious fluff.

"Hmmm~" DesertFox hums when she notices "The fluffy tail claims another victim~ I'm Jealous."

"Sorry, but he's taken." Paradigm says while wearing your tail like a scarf.

"So it would seem~ I apologize if I made you jealous dear, I just can't help myself when it comes to tails!"

"I- I'm not jealous!" she throws out a classic tsundere line…
"Because its already mine." she whispers quietly into your fluff.

Wow. That’s somewhat surprising…
She may not have realized you heard her, but your fox ears aren't just for show…

"Alright, I'll believe you~" DesertFox says. "You two have fun.~" she rides off while giving you a discreet wink.

As you continue to ride, Paradigm continues petting your tail. It is definitely a fairly intimate feeling. You aren't sure if she quite gets that, but you will let it go. After that comment, maybe being a bit intimate with her is OK? You are pretty sure you are OK with it as long as she is. Is this what its like to fall for someone? You aren’t quite sure.
Its nice though.

Maybe it’s the suspension bridge effect? You two have been through a fair amount of shit together in the past couple days with nobody really there to rely on for more than a few hours at a time other than each other. Its only natural that you develop some feelings, right?

You are still worried that it’s a bit to fast though. What if its just her way of running away from reality? Trapped in a slightly depressing and fairly scary new world, you came, picked her up, and saved her from being all alone. Maybe she sees you as a prince charming or something? That feels like a lot of pressure. You will have to work hard to keep up with it.

Maybe you are doing the same thing? A cute girl in need of rescue appears before you so you try to act the part of the hero who saves her from despair? Isn't that just running away from reality too?

If it is, does it make your feelings any less real? You aren't really sure. The only thing you are sure of is that you are unsure. Paradigm slowly strokes your tail. You love the feeling of her small hands running through the fur that you only recently acquired.

If it really is running away from reality, maybe that is OK too?
After all, like you said earlier, running is what you are best at.

Maybe if you run far and fast enough, you can escape the reality that holds the two of you back and be happy here in this world together.

You turn around and pick her up then put her in your lap.

"Will?"

"Do you mind?" You ask

"No, I think I like it better this way."

You think you do too. After all, you cant see her when she is behind you. You flick your tail around so that she can hold it while sitting in front of you and start petting her head gently while she relaxes in your arms.

Thanks for running, I had a lot of fun. I was a little worried at how fast the romance is going, but seeing as you addressed it in character, I'm glad that the MC isn't dense enough to ignore it. It does seem realistic enough for people to latch onto each other to try and preserve their comfort.

It seems less like we're waifuing Paradigm, and more like she's husbandoing Will, which is a refreshing change in pace. It's been a while since I've seen a quest where people are actively interested in the MC and pursue them. I'll give her a pass, even if she's first girl.

If I may suggest something, it would be allow the MC to pick dialogue for themselves for things that might be important. It looks like Will is a predetermined character with an established personality, so I understand why there aren't many dialogue options. Consistency and speed, after all. Regardless, including dialogue options that fit his personality would help people get attached to Will as a character. Bonus points if you manage to make dialogue non-intrusive.

With all that said and done, I'm loving the quest so far. Lots of fun. Paradigm a cute, but Judi is still best girl.

Season 2 of 00 is...
It's a much more conventional Gundam series than S1. All those Gundam mainstays that Season 1 carefully avoided? They're present in full force. As an example, Graham starts running around in a mask and calling himself "Mister Bushido" (a magnificently retarded name).
It's still not bad, but it's not as good as S1.
Also the 00 itself is kinda derpy looking compared to the raw sex appeal of Exia.

I am 2-3 days late from constantly traveling and having shitty internet to say this:

CALLED IT

Honestly, I don't think we should keep the secret that long. Make a tavern that acts as a gathering hub for parties of brazier lighters, sell them beer as a sending off and returning home privilege.

Promise that we will reveal the secret of alcohol on a couple of conditions:
>we've got a more permanent system of pipelines, conveyor belts, protected passageways or whatnot
>We all have a party and the secret will be revealed once everyone's piss-drunk
it's not about the security of the secret, it's about making it fun to learn by following the questline.

Season 2's PLOT is good.
But it requires you to suffer through DEEN.
I just bailed and read the books instead.
>>
Sorry for the late start today guys, but I am running. I just need to write up the first post.
>>
>>2199573
Whats "DEEN"?
I've only seen up to season 1 I think...
>>
>>2199981
Its an animation studio notorious for having crappy animation quality.

Also for being generally shit.
>>
>>2199981
Studio DEEN are infamous for low-quality animation.
And god damn is LH season 2 a great example of why. I mean it's not like Satelight, the studio that did season 1, are amazing or were working with a massive budget, but DEEN found a way. And so the drop in animation quality with season 2 is very noticeable and EXTREMELY jarring.
>>
>>2199989
Oh...
Well that's a shame. I didn't even know there were more seasons.
I have to get watching it than. I guess it's kind of what they did to "Berserk" making it CGI and all that. I hope the story is still good.
>>
>>2200002
That's the thing.
2016 Berserk is bad not just because it's eye-searingly ugly, but ALSO because it fucks up the story.
Log Horizon season 2 still nails the story, it's just... not a good looking show.

You are William Pierce. Equally so, you are now Will2Fight, a level 73 Foxtail Monk. 3 days ago, you and thousands of players like you were trapped in the world of Elder Tale, somehow transferred into the bodies of your player characters. While it may seem like a dream come true for many people to live in a video game, not everything has been sunshine and rainbows.

Food is tasteless, raid bosses are intelligent, and you are being haunted by some sort of static ghost.

But not everything is bad either. Since you got here, you met a girl named Paradigm( or should you start calling her Sarah now?), who you are pretty sure you are developing feelings for, learned how to brew beer with taste, and organized people into preventing an undead apocalypse by a matter of hours.

That’s right, you are a hero.

The entire town is in a state of celebration, and rightfully so.

Thanks to some random stroke of luck, on your way back to town from raiding with the <Kool Kids Klub>, you just so happened to notice that one of the beacons that protect the town had gone out.

Thanks to that, with the help of your real booze, you were able to organize players into relighting the fire and refueling the other beacons just in time to stop the whole network from going dark.

And today you are dealing with the aftermath.

To fill the massive demand for celebratory drinks, you bought an extra Brewery station and are currently running two of them side by side in the makeshift workshop in your house.

This is your chance to create a Brand, and you have no intention of wasting it. Roughly one hundred people will be receiving free drinks in exchange for their help with the beacon incident.

While you could always just give people whatever liquor you had left in your inventory and call it a day, you are going to capitalize on this opportunity as much as possible.

Once the celebration starts, any doubt that you are a fake will disappear. You suspect that people will be flooding you with orders, and you intend to be ready.

What do you want to do to define your brand?
[ ] Focus on brewing Cider. It is your best EXP to cost ratio and goes great with the cold, plus its thematic.
[ ] Focus on brewing beer. It is the absolute cheapest drink you can make and will likely turn over the greatest profit. Everyone loves beer.
[ ] Focus on harder drinks. Beer may be good, but sometimes people just want to get smashed.
[ ] Focus on celebratory drinks. Whiskey and Champagne. Its an occasion.
[ ] Make a little bit of everything. Demand is high and varied. The more different things you have the more people will be satisfied.

Secondary vote: Both are doable along with the main votes.
[ ] Make some other drinks too. You can brew Teas and Juices as well. Some people aren't old enough to drink alcohol, and while you don't particularly care, you don’t want to force anyone to drink it since it’s the only drink with taste.
[ ] Add your own twist to something. (write in)

And the best way to be ready is to have something for everyone. You plan to open with a showcase of 3 good drinks from the game along with the 6 staples from reality and one special idea that you came up with based on your earliest experiments...

Drunken fist and White Cider join the list as your two favorites, and Blitz Whistle, a movement speed boosting drink that tastes like a cross between a lemon-lime soda and some sort of hard liquor, joins the list as Paradigm's favorite. Along with those, of course you have Beer, Vodka, Rum, Whiskey, Tequila, and Wine.

Your final secret alcohol is something of your own design. According to some people around town who you happened to overhear discussing how much they were excited for actual drinks on the way back, the alcohol that doesn’t have taste still gets you drunk. You didn't actually notice since you never really drank enough of it.

Taking this new information, you used a vodka brewed through the menus as a base rather than water and made tea.

It tastes exactly like tea made with normal water. There is zero of the hard alcoholic kick that normally comes with vodka. To make sure it worked, Paradigm happily tested the theory. Its your take on Twisted tea. The twist is that you get fucking wrecked even though it tastes normal.
It was a bit too dangerous in that form though, so you did end up adding in a little vodka to make sure people know it is still alcoholic and don't get taken for a ride thinking its safe.

Paradigm seems to like it. She says it has potential, you agree. You love how hard alcohol gets you drunk, but were never a huge fan of its harshness. That’s probably why you like Drunken Fist.

In addition to your selection of alcoholic drinks, you are also bringing normal Tea, normal Hot White Apple Cider, and normal Hot Chocolate. You feel like it might leave some people out if you didn't have anything for the people who don't drink, and that would be awful.

While you work on making thousands of bottles of booze, Paradigm is building a cart with her engineering subclass. It will have enough room for two of every type of alcohol bottle and five drink warmers for the two types of warm cider, two types of tea, and hot chocolate.

After a few hours of working, you have pretty much finished. As the last step, Paradigm carves the name the two of you decided on into the metal. Portage First Brewing Company. Classy.

All that is left is to line up a venue.
[ ] Try and rent a guild Hall from a big guild.
[ ] Try to buy an actual bar. You might need to get a loan, but Hiroshima said he could lend you some cash.
[ ] Do it in the open in the city plaza. The cold air will make your selection of warm drinks even better.
[ ] Write in.

I have to go shovel some snow, so there will be a bit of a delay before next post.

We can still get robbed, rushed by a crowd and have all of our stuff looted, etc.

If you're going to parade around rare goods in a wagon, you best have personal security.

If you're going to run a bar, you best have at least 4 max level security guards on your payroll.

You think the best thing to do would be to go all out and buy an actual bar. The people need a place to make them feel more at home, and you are in the unique position to give them one. You already contacted Hiro about a loan, and he was sure enough that you would make a profit that he said it would be no problem.

You call him and he picks up.
"Yo, make your decision?"

"Yeh, I think I'm gonna take you up on your offer."

"Alright, cool, I'll meet you at the bar."

You and Paradigm break down the cart so it can fit in your inventories and stuff all the booze that can fit into your magic bag. You ended up making so much that even with their ability to stack in cartons of 6 bottles per inventory space, the two of you will probably have to make another trip later.

With about half of your product on you, the two of you head into town. The bar you were thinking about is just off the main street coming from the plaza. The lander couple who owned it offered to sell it to you and Paradigm for the sum of 2.5 Million gold. You think that is a fair enough price.

Hiro waves to the two of you when you get there, accompanying him is a Fox Tail scribe from <Touch Fluffy Tail> that you hired to make some labels for your bottles. You take them and hand him the 50k you promised, he says he is looking forwards to some beer later then heads off. You give the labels to Paradigm so she can get started on attaching them while you and Hiro buy the bar.

The lander couple welcomes you as you walk in and thanks you for your generous offer on the bar.
Apparently business hasn't been so good since all the adventurers started acting weird. You can guess that she probably means since everyone got stuck here. You can see why. Apart from water-beer and other water-drinks, the bar also sold tasteless food. Its no surprise that adventurers avoided it after learning its food was just as untasty as anything else.

Hiro gives you the money and you hand it over to the couple. You are pretty much wiped for cash now, standing at a measly 200k, but between your money, Paradigm's contribution, and a small loan of a million gold, you can afford it easily enough.

Now that you have a place, you call Whisperer and ask her if she can make a wooden bar sign for you. She says she doesn’t mind as long as she gets free drinks for a week. That’s fair enough, so you agree and she says it should be done about half an hour before the party tonight.

It is around 2pm. The party starts at 5, is there anything else you would like to do once you finish moving and labeling the rest of the Alcohol and setting everything up?

With basically everything all set and ready to go, you go over to the table Paradigm is sitting at and start helping her label the bottles.

It doesn't take that much focus, so while you wait you decide to chat with her a bit.

"Hey." you say after sitting quietly for a bit.

"Hey." She says back

Is it just you or is it a bit more awkward than usual? Its probably you. You feel way to conscious of her and it’s a bit hard to talk like you two normally do.

You slap your face a bit to try to stop overthinking things. She grins a bit, you feel kinda silly.

"So…" you start, "What do you actually think about staying in Portage? At least for a while?"

"What else are we supposed to do?" she asks. "Its like 1000 miles or something to the next nearest city and we don’t have any cars or planes or anything."

"Well, I meant as a hypothetical? What if we had one? Do you think you would still want to stay here?"

"I dunno…" she says. "Its kinda nice here, but then again, its also kinda shitty."

"I know what you mean." You pretty much agree with that statement.

"In the end, I think it depends."

"On?"

"A bunch of stuff." she says, "Like what my friends are doing, what the other cities are like, you know, lots of stuff. Its not really one thing or another."

You wonder a little if you are part of that list. Considering her comment last night, you probably are, but you can never be sure. For all you know, you are just misreading again. She could just be reliant on you until she doesn’t need to be anymore. If her horizons suddenly opened up and she didn't have anything to worry about anymore, maybe she would leave you behind?

You feel a bit bad for thinking about that. You are pretty sure she isn't that type of person. You will have to mentally scold yourself later for that one.

She watches your face as you think with a small smile. You wonder what she thinks about you when you do this. While you can generally carry a conversation at a decent level, you are naturally a man of relatively few words. You like that she seems willing to give you time to think sometimes. Too bad your stupid brain always goes to such crappy places.

"So how about you?" she says eventually.

"I would probably stay here for a while until something gives me a good enough reason to move." you say.

"What would that be?"

"I dunno. Every time I have moved has basically been for something or other though. Maybe after a while I would just figure that its time to move on anyways?" you say. "Its kind of a difficult question now that I think about it, but for now I think I would want to stay here." You contemplate adding a cheesy line like "with you.", but in the end you don't.

"Yeh, when it comes down to it, I would probably stay here too I guess…" she says.

Was she just waiting to hear your answer before she chose? You feel really bad for doubting her. You definitely need to work on that habit of yours to go to such depressing thoughts so easily. To make it up to her in your mind, you decide to say something a bit cheesy after all.

"That’s good," you say "I would definitely get lonely without you around." you wonder if you are blushing. You expect her to tease you.

Rather than tease you, she scoots her chair to around to your side of the table and leans against your shoulder.

"Same." she says "If we do ever decide to leave, lets just go together."

"Deal." you say ruffling her hair.

Shit. She is cute. You swear you aren't into kids. She is 22 dammit! 22! You are safe! Body aside, its more that you have fallen for her personality. She is the just the type of girl who just makes your kokoro go Doki-doki. Wow you actually just thought that, you are a fucking weeeeeb. Weebiness aside though, the feeling remains the same.

You almost wonder if you just like her so much since she seems to like you, but you throw that thought away before it can take root.

You don't want to ruin this. You shouldn't doubt your own feelings so much. Who cares why you started to like her. The truth is, you definitely do.

You keep attaching labels while she leans into your shoulder. Its nice. It’s a good moment. Too bad it can only last so long until the preparations for the party and your bar's grand opening draw you away.

About 20 minutes after you leave her side to help whisperer put up the bar sign, its time for the party.

Rather than put on some big opening ceremony or making a flashy speech about heroism or something, you decide the best way to go about things is to treat it like a party. The adventurers arrive and start to file into the bar as you check names off and greet them.

Once everyone is inside, you head in as well. Its quite crowded. This bar probably wasn't made for this many people, but you will have to make do. Paradigm has snuck behind the bar and is helping to hand out drinks, so you go to join her.

Before you can, OnTheFence grabs you and drags you over to a table.
"Come on, you are the man of the hour! All this and you just want to sit behind a bar taking orders?"

"Kinda…"

"Welp, sorry to drag you away, but first you two are going to say something and then enjoy the party with us."

You are about to ask who he meant by two, but you quickly notice Paradigm being dragged over by DesertFox as well.

"What should I say? I didn't really prepare anything…"

Paradigm shrugs.

OnTheFence says "Just say whatever man."

Hiroshima appears next to you from the crowd as well. "Not like it needs to be anything amazing, just welcome everyone and say have a good party."

"Alright, alright, fine…" you say, lifting Paradigm up onto one of the tables in the middle of the room. You get on top of it after and pick her up onto your shoulder.

"Hey guys!"

The crowd goes silent. You can feel the pressure. Everyone is expecting a speech. You do the opposite.

"First of, I want to say welcome to the bar. Second, I would like to let my lovely friend Paradigm say something as well."
"Hello and welcome to our bar, we hope you enjoy your time and come back soon!"
"Finally, on behalf of both of us here at Portage First Brewery, I invite you all to join me as we start this fucking party!" You shout at the crowd. Someone throws you a beer and your monk reflexes easily catch it. You rip the entire top off the bottle and dump the beer into your mouth (and all over your face).

The crowd cheers loudly and the sound of bottles popping open echoes through the room.

You get down off the table and

[ ] Go introduce yourselves to some of the 90s who are chatting in a group. Might as well get in good with the big guys in town.

You and Paradigm head back behind the bar to serve drinks. Somebody has to keep the alcohol flowing after-all. Plus you are kinda awkward at parties anyways…

Paradigm cracks open A Blitz Whistle for herself and hands you one as well. Its odd that it’s the only drink that you can make so far that is kind of like a soda. Maybe there will be one at higher levels, but you aren't really sure.

Well, whatever. Its very fizzy and it tastes like a knockoff Mountain Dew… That’s definitely one thing you miss. Dews were one of your staple food groups, especially when gaming. You haven't ever really tried hard soda drinks in real life, but its not too bad. You recall that some of your friends liked mixing one of those limited edition Dews with some kind of flavored vodka, but it just didn't suit you. This is better than that was in your opinion.

A single manly tear rolls down your cheek as you face the possibility of a Dew-less world.

Paradigm looks at you and asks "Whats wrong?"

"No dew."

A single manly tear rolls down her cheek as well. Her taste once again proves to be excellent…

"I don't know whats worse, having to eat only fruit and cardboard, or never having mountain dew again…" a Medicine Man named <Morning Star> EaglesClawMcGraw says coming up to the bar. A medicine man cowboy… Now you have seen everything…

"Aye" a pirate sitting near him named CaptainJack says.

"Man, the worst thing about being stuck here is no more anime." says an assassin named xNarut0x. Judging by his name, he isn't really missing anything worth watching.

A Samurai named <Nippon Banzai!> Sumimasen looks at him with disgust before reluctantly agreeing with his statement about anime.
Several other patrons seem to echo his sentiment as they nod in agreement. Once again, you are reminded that this game is full of weebs...

Its rather rare to see Samurai over in NA, you wonder if he is actually Japanese or if he just used a VPN or something.

As you serve the guests, after a while, you notice that a group of bards have set up over in the corner of the bar. You should have thought of that… Its lucky that someone else took the initiative.

They start playing some of the bard buffing songs, and some people start watching them, then they change things up. They play an acoustic version of the Elder Tale Theme song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk4mxcEY7x4
That was actually quite impressive… When they finish, everyone claps.
Next they play one of the theme songs from the main quest line.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdg7Q9f4tvo
The audience erupts into thunderous applause.

Finally, they play something that nobody expected. The main riff starts and the crowd gets louder than ever. Until just now, it had only been orchestral pieces with no words, but a tall Wolf Hair steps out with a Microphone staff that is commonly used by Idol subclass players. He casts mages howling on himself and the song begins.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vm6w4J4wXf4

The lead bard, who isn't actually a bard, but an Enchanter 90 Idol 90, named <T A O> Black Dog bows to the crowd. He is obviously a Zeppelin fan.

"Thank you, Thank you! We are the Trans Alaskan Orchestra, and we will be taking requests for the rest of the party! Everyone feel free to sing along! And a big thanks to Our main man, Will! TWO! FIGHHT!!"

Another cheer goes around. These guys are awesome!

I feel like we need to do further research into stat-boosting booze as a primary focus. And commission high level adventurers to get us rare booze making ingredients as a sort of quest system. Then we can sell hella expensive booze to the 1% of Portage.
>>
>>2201682
We also need to figure out the local Guild power structure (to prevent a dictatorship) and develop a plan by which the local economy can grow - people can't buy alcohol if they're poor after all.

Should we be concerned about the fact that the Guild Hall and Cathedral are buyable...

I see no reason to stop them from keeping the peace, they all seem like real stand-up guys for the most part, and those that aren't can be pulled back by ones that are. Either way, if anyone goes out of line, revoke their alcohol privileges. One of the perks of hoarding knowledge.

<KKK> and <TFT> only have a very minor presence here actually.
As far as you know, <KKK> is just the three guys you have met, the rest of them are gathering in Chasta according to Hiroshima.
<TFT> is more a a big group chat than a stick together all the time guild, they are probably spread out to the four winds.

<Morning Star> is big in basically every city, they like to have lots of seperate mini power structures so they can hunt down PKers wherever they show up autonomously.

Some of the big guilds around here are <Citadel>, <Winter Soldiers>, <Northern Lights>, and <Dead Heads>. Recently you have been seeing more of <Nippon Banzai!>, a guild you had never heard of before the Event. Other big guilds like the big three production guilds, <Medica Magica>, and <Merica!> have a moderate presence in the city just due to their size and the fact that their players are everywhere.

With the spot light on you again, you feel like you should make a toast.
You haven't really ever made a toast before except at holiday dinners back before your parents disowned you, but how hard can it be?

You get up on one of the stools behind the bar for Paradigm to stand on and think of something to say…

"I have literally no idea how you are supposed to toast, but I feel like doing one anyways. All of you worked hard and you all damned well deserve one."
You raise the beer to around eye level.
"This may not be our home, but at the same time, it kinda is. I know I spent years playing this game, and I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one. May you all enjoy your time in this world-away-from home to the fullest!"

You raise your beer above your head.

"To friends! To Fortune! To Elder Tale!"

The crowd raises their glasses into the air, the clinking of bottles and glasses resounds through the bar, and everyone cheers some more. Everyone sure is easy to please, but maybe that is just because they are happy to have real booze again.

After your toast, the bards go back to playing and launch into Good Times, Bad Times.

As the party goes on, you notice OrbitalBlur, CapNCrunch, Allbright, and a few other 90s talking over in a corner. You head over to see what they are up to.

"it looks pretty bad so far…" you hear the tail end of whatever Orbital blur says. That’s probably not good.

The conversation seems to stop when you walk over.

"Mr. Will2Fight, How can we help you?"

"Just Will, thanks. I was just wondering some things about how everything went for you guys on the unlit beacon group."

"Oh, I suppose you have the right to know considering you were the one who got everything going." he says. He still seems to be glaring at you… Maybe that’s just the way his face always is?

"Indeed, as you predicted, it wasn't a very good situation at all Mr. Will. Fortunately for us, we had a 24 man party ready to take it back."
>>

"So what did you all run into?"

"A raid boss." the glasses cowboy says gravely. "The level 84 Deadhound from Denali's stand came all the way from his instance's location to try and cut off whoever came to light the beacon again." "Even with such a large group of 90s, it was a bit rough of a fight. Half of them hadn't actually used combat yet since the Event." You assume that is the word they are using to describe getting stuck here…

"If it wasn't for the fact that we were a full raid party, things could have been rough." Denali's stand is a level 84 full raid where the players are aided by an NPC spirit named Denali trying to drive the dead from his forest. Besides that, you don't actually know too much about it since you are way under leveled for it.

"Now that we know this, it is absolutely imperative that we keep the beacons near Range lit, or we may end up having the Dead City raid coming to us." Dead city is something you know about. It is a Legion Raid at level 90 set in the ruined city of Fairbanks, its commonly known as "Unfairbanks" by the players... Legion raids require 96 players to complete, and even then they are hard as hell. Only the best guilds ever run them. If the bosses from that came to a beacon, you aren't sure if the town even has enough 90s to beat them back.

"That’s really not good…" You say.

"We are in agreement on that Mr. Will." the enchanter says. "What we are currently discussing is our course of action."

"Anything I can do to help?"
>>
>>2201878
"Sell your beer at high prices." the enchanter says, adjusting his glasses. "The sage has agreed to increase the rewards for the old repeatable quest to bring wood to the fire, but without something to spend it on, that might be pointless anyways."

You can kind of see where he is going with this.

"So adventurers will need to do the quest to get enough money for beer, right? Doesn't that seem kind of underhanded?"

"It may be underhanded, but it would certainly be one way of lighting a fire under their collective asses once all the hubbub about this event dies down." he says.

"Our offer is this; if you agree to cooperate with us, we will take back a percentage of the extra money you make to keep paying into the quest, but in exchange, we will buy all the brewing materials on the market. You will have access to a near full monopoly on the product should anyone discover your secret methods. Additionally, if people begin complaining, <Morning Star> will take full blame and make sure that people know you only cooperated with the overall safety of the town in mind. We aren't asking you to make your prices too unreasonable, just a couple hundred gold extra per bottle."

He finishes his offer by saying "If you really don't feel like it though, I'm sure we will find another way to get them moving. We don't want to force you into anything Mr. Will, we just want to explore our options and keep the town safe."

You aren't sure what to say…
[ ] Accept the offer.
[ ] Accept conditionally. (Name your demands)
[ ] Accept provisionally.
[ ] Decline. Suggest another option.
[ ] Decline, you just don't feel right about it, even if its for the town's safety. You are sure there is a better way than overcharging your customers. You want people to think well of you after-all.
>>
Once the party is over and we're no longer giving away free alcohol, do we have a pricing system worked out?
[ ] Accept conditionally. (Name your demands)
Tell the truth behind the scheme. If we're gonna bet our bar's reputation on this, we should at least be honest about it. Not like anyone can complain, the safety of the town and everyone in it is at stake.

>>
>>2201886
And by telling the truth, I mean straight up say it from the start, not when people start complaining about prices.
>>
>>2201882
I'll agree to a minor increase in cost for beer and other basic brews. But if you want expensive drinks I need ingredients that are rare and hard to come by for the average player. If you supply those I'll create a more expensive drink menu and maybe even branch out to fine dining. Making basic drinks too expensive will just hurt business and the overall economy in the long run.
>>
>>2201882
Hmm I dunno, assuming we accept we would be ENTIRELY reliant on....

Actually who is "we" who does this guy speak for, <Morning Star>? or is he just one of the level 90's who happened to be there?

Either way they would have an absolute monopoly on our supply of provisions assuming we don't harvest them ourselves. Meaning they can price them whatever they want or withhold them from us at their whim.

If we accept we have to have a guarantee that the prices will stay the same and that if they deny us the product it must be returned to the market for others to use.
>>
>>2201886
You were thinking maybe 4-500 gold for most common/inexpensive to make drinks like beer and cider.
For the rest of things that require more pricey ingredients, it would be on a case by case basis.
>>
>>2201882
Decline. Who are these people, what is their plan?
>>
>>2201875
At least enough time when we fi d a cook and start swlling food with taste to.
>>
>>2201902
He is OrbitalBlur, the local Sheriff (leader) of the <Morning Star>s. He only really answers to Brimstone as far as you know, and from what you know about <Morning Star>, he is probably either in their guild hall in Pueblo or going to it.

>>2201902
You could get a contract for that probably. <Morning Star> is a fairly honorable guild, if a bit uptight.

Oh and one more thing, you can always delay accepting or declining. Sorry i forgot that option, I'm just an idiot.
>>
>>2201882
>[ ] Decline. Suggest another option.
We just need to make Portage a place worth protecting. All of these people have lost their homes by being stuck here so we need to make this village into a suitable replacement that players actually care about. And I think a reasonably priced bar where they can have fun and unwind is a good start for that sort of feeling.
>>
I feel like this is something we should discuss with Paradigm before we give an answer. Nothing wrong with discussion options first though.
>>
>>2201914
Aye I think it would be best to

[X] Delay

I really like what they are going for, but we should wait until after the party so we can talk to Sarah about it. This is a team venture and if we start making decisions like this without her it could end up bad.
>>
>>2201920
Yes, delaying is always an option. As will has mentally monologued before, you all have nothing but time. People probably wont stop filling the braziers for a couple weeks at least due to all the commotion.
>>
>>2201882
>[ ] Accept conditionally. Firstly we need to make a council so others can know about it. The more guilds know we can keep the know it all for everyone. Also straight up charging i would rather then making a grab for the ingredients in the AH we got it another way. Think the AH as the grain storage if we take all the food people will start to by to take a hold of the ingredients and people will start starving.

That would just make everyone become boiled up and estressed. Why not simply tell people what happend?
>>
>>2201882
Nah, i propose >>2199548

I dont agree with Morning Star does their whole ingredient monopoly thing, it would sour the good vibes we got going right now.
>>
Since we don't seem to have a clear concensus, Will is just going to delay and give a few suggestions for now.

The first being to make Portage a place people want to protect, and the second to build some sort of automatic system.
>>
>>2201939
Sounds good.
>>
I still feel like helping us gain access to higher quality ingredients and allowing us to have higher quality items on the menu would work just as well without being so manipulative. We could even branch out to the restaurant business if we had a good chef.
>>
>we will buy all the brewing materials on the market.

I just realized that would just make us to be in their hands since they could deny us any supplies and the high prices would make people dislike us.

I would change my mind and decline. Also FUCK THE HATS!
>>
>>2201946
The main problem you have with ingredients are some brews require less common drops, and many require drops from outside this area. You already bought a lot of the common ingredients that were on the AH for ones from outside the area, and could definitely buy more before anyone notices.
>>
>>2201946
Nah i say we keep ourselfs as the good business get a good fame with the players and make then like us. Then if we start having dificulties in acquiring ingredients because a bunch of hats decided to by every ingredient we just sell our knowledge to the merchants guilds for gold.

The big merchants have a lot of people who is specialized in gathering haversting and building. They can easily supply themselfs with material, avoiding the corrupted manipulations of the hats.
>>
>>2201939
Why not both?
>>
>>2201980
He is giving both of those suggestions I mean.
>>
>>2201939
You aren't really sure, and beyond that, you don't think this is a decision you should make on your own. You, Paradigm, and Hiroshima all have a stake in this bar after all, so you don't think it would be fair to exclude them from such a vital choice.

"For now, I can't accept, but I won’t decline either." You say. "I'm not the only one who has an important stake in the future of this bar, so I will need to talk to my friends about it."

"Go right ahead Mr. Will. As I said, we have no intention of rushing you or forcing you into anything." He says, pausing to adjust his glasses again,"The town should be fine for at least a couple of weeks considering how much of a stir this whole deal has caused, so take all the time you need."

"I really appreciate that."

"Feel free to call me any time you want to talk to us now, I am sure we can have a relationship that is mutually beneficial to both us and the city, even if you all decide against our offer." he says. "You strike me as a just man with an honest heart and your head in the right place. Wouldn't this world be wonderful if I could say that about everyone."

"Probably." In reality, you assume that might get fairly boring relatively quickly.

"Anyways…" you say, "Apart from your offer, I have actually been thinking of some things we might be able to do to fix the problem as it is."

"The first would obviously be raising everyone's spirits somehow, and I would hope my bar can contribute to that. Everyone is kinda down in the dumps, but maybe if we can remind people that this world is basically the same as their beloved game, they could get a little more into it."

"Indeed, we have also been trying to figure out ways to get people up and about again."

"What if we tried holding events of some sort like back in the game? Like for example, you might be able to hold PVP competitions to let the people who are into it PVP without resorting to Pking."

"Now that is actually a pretty darn good idea, Mr. Will, that would help us meet two of our main objectives at once by reducing PKs as well."

"Another thing might be to convince the other guilds to start running raids again. It’s the most Elder-Tale thing there is, so it might get some people back in the swing of things, especially if their friends start doing it."

"Another good idea we are all ready on, but thank you for the pitch."

"Pehaps you guys could run them until the other guilds do?"

"Perhaps, I will keep that idea in mind as well."
>>
>>2201996
"On another note, my other suggestion was about an actual solution to the fires problem."

"Shoot." he says. That’s cowboy for go ahead, right?

"What if we build a pipeline that carried fuel to the braziers?"

"Is that possible?"

"Should be. Engineers can build things, for example, look at that cart." you point to the display cart that Paradigm built earlier.

"Interesting. That is certainly a possibility."
"I assume that would take a while, but we can definitely look into it." Allbright says hearing you talking about engineers.

"Thanks. I will talk to everyone and see what they say. Have a nice evening and enjoy the party OrbitalBlur."

"Call me Blur, that would be perfectly fine with me, I know it’s a mouthful to say." You nod in acknowledgement and head off to find Paradigm.

You wade through the crowd to the tune of Ramble On. You will have to add the guys from <T A O> before you forget, they are really pretty good. Black Dog gets Robert Plant's voice almost perfect, maybe that’s from the Idol subclass like your brews are from yours.

Eventually you find Paradigm, she is sitting with DesertFox, OnTheFence, Whisperer, and the guys from the <Kool Kids Klub>.

Actually, scratch that…
She is sitting with DesertFox, OnTheFence, Whisperer, and the guys from <Northwest Front>.

Hmm. Their guild's name changed. You wonder what that could be about, but you will just ask later.

You go and sit down next to Paradigm. Desert fox looks at you with a grin. She gets up and sits on your lap.

"Pet my head Will~" Paradigm sounds drunk. You oblige her anyways.

"Congrats to the happy couple." Catler says with a smirk.

He, Dank Tank and Hiro clap. You are a bit embarrassed, but that’s fine. You have a cute girl snuggling with your tail on your lap.

You can deal with the serious discussions later.
For tonight, you think you will just relax and enjoy the booze, music, and company.

[ ] End session.

Sorry it was a bit short tonight guys, I have to go to bed early for my D&D session tomorrow. Next session will probably be on Monday at around 4 PM (since I have work both weekend nights) with a new thread, but between then and now, I might post some intermission posts.

I will be on a bit longer for Questions, Coments, concerns, shitposts, and spoilers

Oh, there is also a fair chance my D&D will be cancelled depending on the roads though, so next session may also be tomorrow at around 4 if that is the case. If so it will continue in this thread.

Considering we blatantly just said Engineers can build things, will people who have a brain and a few minutes to think start to realize the secret? It's no skin off our back since we're the first, but I hope it means we won't have to face an angry mob of crafters desiring information.

You live in Alaska, right? Is this quest turning out like you expected?
>>
>>2202074
Big apple is closest city to me irl. I chose Alaska because there is nothing about it in the story, there is one adventurer city in 2000 miles, and it seems like a place that would be full of some end game content. My brainstorming process was like this:
>Whats a place that hasn't been touched by LHQ or the actual canon?
Anything not in the south or east coast.

>Whats a place that I can make a cool story with a good conflict in?
Alaska, isolation and high level monsters surrounding the only safe area of Portage, maybe threaten Portage somehow.

>How do I justify this being surrounded by monsters that can kill you so you are stuck there?
Extend the safe area into two separate expansions of different level brackets, put mc in lower bracket, make higher bracket end game shit.

>What would your main enemy be in Alaska?
Frozen Undead, some sort of lich maybe? Play up the ice theme. I ended up combining it all and got the Entropic King.

>Whats a cool gimmick to give lore to the area, factor into the main conflict of monsters surrounding you, and play up the feeling of isolation?
A barrier that keeps undead out of the lower level area.

>How can I tie this all in to Alaska?
Midnight Sun is something cool that happens during the summer in Alaska where the sun is up 24 hours a day. It can be the barrier, a light in the darkness, and I can put something keeping it there on the mountains that sorta ring around Anchorage IRL

I also had similar ideas for the other North western cities that I ended up tying in to my main plot.

Everything I know about the area is from google, I have never lived there or even been. I can say that its different than real life since its in a game anyways.

As for the second part, I expected nobody to care since the anime was so old. I am astounded by how great of a response it got, especially considering the fact that I am writing it as a blatant rip off of Tiny Shepherd's far superior Log Horizon Quest.
As for player interactions, I didn't make plans. I made a timeline of things that will happen with or without the player's knowledge, unless you end up interfering, at which point you can change the outcome. Your character will just see the things happening and be forced to deal with them somehow. How he does is up to the players and will change how MC experiences these events.

For example, The true lever part happened while the MIB was MIA in original LHQ something was going to happen involving the MC or the people near him with that, it was just a matter of what things were near MC for me to use.

Intermission Post!

You are Hans Konig. More importantly, you are KampfyKommandant, a human lv 90 Paladin, 90 Sacred Soul. Most importantly, in absence of ZyklonBen you are currently the acting Fuhrer of the <Kool Kids Klub>, or as it has now been renamed, the <Northwest Front>.

Roughly half a week ago, somehow everyone who was playing the popular MMO Elder Tale was sucked into the game. After the initial shock of The Happening, you were universally appointed by the Reich's Council to be the Emergency Fuhrer as the most experienced guild member online. It is your duty to secure a place in this world for the players under your command.

Your first action as Fuhrer was to give the order for everyone to make their ways to the main guild hall in Chasta. So far, you have been hesitant to act any further, but if things continue like this much longer, it is not only your guild-mates who will be in trouble. The situation within the city has gone from bad to worse over the last few days.
In fact, according to reports from guild members coming in from cities across the NA server, the situation is similar regardless of where one goes.

Security is rapidly taking a turn for the worse. Foods and drinks are tasteless. Even death does not grant an escape from this world, as the dead revive at the cathedrals just as they did in game. Despite the best efforts of the <Morning Star>s, Pking has quickly become rampant and crime is near universally high. Despair has set in thick on the population as people refuse to leave the cities in fear of getting hurt. You have heard reports that some of the raid bosses seem intelligent, and in one case have moved to attack an adventurer city. Reports from Great Lakes indicate that the people of the land, aka NPCS, are being targeted within the city as well. The bad news never seems to end. You are sure you will have even more reaching you tomorrow as well.

All across the country, the situation looks bleak.

It is this fact that has led the Reich's Council to make a decision. Someone has to act before things get too far out of hand. Fortunately, your guild is full of the types of people who have been preparing for any sort of mass upheaval for a good fraction of their lives.

At your command are just over one thousand three hundred men and probably about a tenth that many women. Unfortunately, the vast majority of your force is spread across the country. While some of them had originally succumbed to despair like so many other players, you had no intention of allowing them to wallow in it.

You are not weaklings. You cannot be allowed to be weaklings. You are /pol/. You and your brothers carry the light of truth with you and you will not see it lost. If nobody else will rise to guide people through these difficult times, you will do it yourselves. People need leaders to lift them up and help them live to their potential. You know your brothers can join you in that position, even if they do not.

You will help convince them to act by giving them the opportunity so many of you have always dreamed of.

At the moment, the players on the east coast have been ordered to regroup in Dixie. Once they arrive, they will form a massive caravan and cross the center of the country, hopefully being able to crush through several level 90 raids in the way with sheer numbers. By the end of the month, barring any major unforeseen setbacks, you believe the majority of your forces will have arrived in the city.

At that point, you will attempt to seize control of Chasta.

A tattered red flag with a black cross in its center, a trophy from the "Remnants of the Horror War", or as its better known, the "Nazi Zombies raid" in Germany, hangs on the wall of your office. Should you succeed, it will fly over the city.

The Reich will be reborn in this new world.

It is time for the evening reports from the regional leaders. Each general area of the country has its own Obergruppenfuhrer stationed in one of the towns, and they and their own subordinates are serving as your eyes and ears in each of the regions.

You open up your menu and select GrandWizard. A level 90 Sorcerer 90 Archmage stationed in Big Apple, he is an old friend of yours, and much like you, has a limited title to show for his dedication to the game.

"Heil Victory." He answers the call.

"Heil." you return.

"So, how are things looking Hans?" Wizard asks.

"Bad. Any news to report from Big Apple?"

"Someone figured out how to make actual food." Hmm, that’s interesting. That could definitely be useful.

"Any Idea who?"

"Just some random in a no name guild called <Swich Licour>."

"Is it just me or does that guild name sound like a dick joke?"

"Ha! Right?" he chuckles "Anyways, they are selling it at some pretty steep prices."

"I can definitely see why. I'm fucking tired of eating cardboard and fruit."

"See if you can find out any more about that. If we can figure out how to do it, that would be wonderful."

"I'll see what I can do." He says "Oh, and Hans?"
"Yes?"

"Fuck you dude. Why did you change the name? Now im the Grand Wizard of the Northwest Front… That’s just dumb!"

"Fuck off, its necessary."

"I get it, normie outreach takes priority, but still… Just… Fuck you man."

"Alright. Noted. Talk to you later Rich."

Next is AFUCXINGLEAF from Jean Drapeau, a Bard 90, Chindon'ya 90, the man represents Canada to a T. By that, you mean in game he always tried to be annoying as possible, and the fact that he went all the way to Yamato to pick up that fucking subclass, then went ahead and maxed it to 90 proves it. You are pretty sure the Canadian players picked him as their Obergruppenfuhrer just to serve as a physical shitpost. At least he is a good bard and is acting seriously now that everyone is stuck here.

"Heil."

"Heil, Anything new up in leaf land?"

"Not much to report, shits as bad as ever and we are still just moving players from Labrador. Evacuation will probably be done in a couple days, then we can head to Dixie and meet up with the main force."

"Good to hear, keep it up."
Click.

Labrador is a serious problem, almost as bad as Portage. With roughly 500 miles of land between it and Jean Drapeau, you have sent almost all of your flying mounts on the east coast up there to help with the evacuation. Fortunately, unlike Drakes, Griffins, Carpets, or Longs, Eagles don't have a daily usage limit. God bless America, Land of the free and home of the developers.

SicksMillion from Pueblo is next. Sicks is another old player, though not quite as old as you and Wizard. He is an Assassin 90, Sword Saint 90, and probably the best PVM DPS in the guild. Without him, you doubt the guild could have collected enough uniforms from the Nazi Zombie bosses to fit out the command structure. Truly, an invaluable contribution.

"Heil, Mein Fuhrer."

"Heil. Any news from the border?"

"<Morning Star> took over the city. Brimstone made some sort of deal with Grandma Spider I think."

You expected this. The hats are seeming to stick to doing what they did in game, and that is act like they are in charge of everything. It’s a bit annoying to watch, but it doesn't really effect you, as your guild never really PKs in any organized fashion, especially now that you guys are all stuck here.

You have more important things to do than mug randoms for their pleb tier shit, and the Hats have more important things to do than trying to take down one of the larger guilds on the server because they like spouting edgy memes. While it may be occasionally annoying, the reputation the KKK built up as shitposters is rather convenient at times.

Once you mass up in Chasta, it will be too late. Even if they try to stop you, you will outnumber them in the city 50 to one at the very least, and they will be forced to back off.

"In the good news department," he continues. "we are seeing more of <MAGA> around. Apparently they can actually build stuff. Their leader is saying he is going to pull a Trump and build a wall on the border."
"Nice." you say.

"Yeh, lets hope they finish it before the Mexicans and Hues swarm up here after they inevitably ruin their own cities."

"Pfft. Lets hope indeed. Maybe we should help fund this shit? I'll bring it up with the Council later. Keep up the good work."

Rounding out the last of the major regions( besides the Northwest where you already are), is the southwest. The region is run by MoonMan from South Angel, a level 90 Bard Level 90 Idol who just got the subclass so he could use the Idol's singing feature to play Moonman songs out loud to everyone through the in-game emote.

"K K K"

"Northwest Front now." You correct him.

"I know, but don't expect me to stop."

He talks in the actual Moonman voice, sounding literally just like the fucking text to speech app. He says its because his Idol subclass lets him mimic voices, but that still doesn't explain how he is doing it over telepathy. Unless it does. You don't actually know how the fuck half of this shit works anymore.

Either way, you don't think you have ever heard his real voice, which is slightly unnerving.

"Any news?"

"Apparently the <49ers> are having some sort of engineer race in Boulder in a week-k-k or so. From what I heard, people are designing machines to race across the desert."

"Tell GTK to keep an eye on that, but I don't particularly want us putting in an entry. Getting everyone here takes priority. "

"O K K K. Will do boss."

Last and more or less least is Portage. Hiro is stuck in a rather nasty situation, but there really isn't much you can do to help. Eagles cant get through the snow and darkness that surrounds the city, ships don’t respawn any more, so the sea is no good either, and its nearly 800 miles over land by your transportation officer's estimations, even further than Labrador...

At least you are pretty sure that if there is anyone in this fucking world who can deal with the situation, he is one of those people. In the 5 years you have known him, you have come to know that the guy is the most autistic bastard you have ever met. That's a compliment in your eyes... High functioning autism like that gets shit done. Besides his ridiculous dedication, he is a good guy and a good /pol/ack. He may only be a level 70 something, but its something like his 13th Fox tail account, so he probably knows the game as well as anyone. He used to be in <Touch Fluffy Tail> before joining up with the <Kool Kids Klub> back in 2013, and from what he told you previously, he thinks he has finally gotten the perfect combination on his latest character.

You call him up and he answers fairly quickly.

"Sieg Heil."

"Heil. Any new developments with the beacons?"

"Solved for now. Looks like the cowboys are going to try and make some sort of system getting people out there."

That’s the hats for you.

"I have two other issues to confirm for you sir, according to the raiding party that went to deal with the one that went out, Raid bosses are in fact out and about. They said the Deadhound from Denali came all the way to the mountain and tried to stop them."

"Worrying. Go on."

"Also that brewer guy who told me about the beacons figured out how to make real booze."

"Dam, what I wouldn't give for a drink."

"I'll drink one for you sir."

"Enjoy it. I fully expect you to bring some along when you find a way out of that god forsaken place."

"Yes sir."

"Keep up the good work, maybe some of the other guys up there will snap out of it when they hear booze is there."

Of all the places that have gone to shit, Portage is probably one of the worst. From what Hiro has said, its freezing as hell, everything is dark, everyone is miserable, and even the Pkers aren't bothering to do fuck all.

"We can only hope."

"Good luck. Hopefully we will have a nice place ready for you by the time you get here."

"Yes sir."

Actual stormfags just use the crowd of shitposters as cover. There are definitely actual neonazis on /pol/ and in this guild too by extension.

I guess it depends on if the shitposters see the actual stormfags go as far as to enslave the Landers and try to stop it or get caught in the flow. Since there'd have to be some kind of drama over getting stuck in a videogame world, I expect the shitposters to just go with it, at least at first.

Intermission post 2.

You do not know who you were. You do not even know who you are now. You are lost in a void and surrounded by something so horrifying that your mind refuses to comprehend it. You cannot move and you cannot think.

Static.

Across from you sits a man that cannot exist. You cannot see him or sense him, but he is there. It is not a lack of existence that prevents you from seeing him. You simply know that he cannot possibly exist, and so your mind has left the space he occupies blank. He has brought you here. He tells you that you have an important part to play in his game. You will help him win. You will relay a message. He does not speak, but you can understand what he has said.

Static.

Light the fires.

End the Lies.

Let it die.

Chasta will rise.

There is salvation.

End the game.

Static.

You do not understand.

He tells you that you do not have to.

You want to say that you cannot trust him but no words can escape your mouth.

He understands though. He understands everything. He will show you the path.

Static.

You stand at the side of the non-man. He motions for you to look in front of you. You cannot see him move, but you know that is what he has done.

You now understand the stakes. The game has already begun. The opponent has taken the first move. His plan sits before you and you can only marvel at its beauty. You know that this is the way he can win. You know even more that he cannot be allowed to lose. Before you lies the board and it is covered in static.

You turn to the non man and he knows you wish to ask him a question. You are only a pawn, but each of his pieces hold a value beyond measure. The non-man will answer you.

You look into the darkness that lies on the opposite side of the board.

"Who is your opponent?" The question lies on the tip of your tongue, but all you can say is static.

The Man who is not a man understands. He turns his head and gazes into the darkness with you.

The horror in a wall street suit is not entirely sure himself.

This thought scares you more than anything else so far.

The darkness becomes far more oppressive knowing that even the not- man can define it. It feels like it is reaching towards you and tightening its grip around your throat. You feel like you cannot breath.

But the feeling passes.

As long as the static man is here, you will win.

The darkness will be forced back and the world will be cast in his Light.

This is what you feel.

This is what your mind forces you to believe.

You try to ask him how much he does know about the looming darkness. The darkness forces you to choke on your own words.

But the man understands.

The static tells you they are Different. They are not like you. They are not like the children of this world. They are not like the monsters. They are not like the un-man. They are something else. They are the Other.

Like you, they are the children of another reality.

Like you, they were brought into this one.

Like you, they took on new forms more suitable to this world.

Unlike you, they seek to destroy for their own dark and unknowable reasons.

They will take and take until there is no more left to give.

If they are not stopped, the world will meet its end along with everyone who inhabits it.

And then they will move on to find another.

You are scared.

But His Truth fills you with resolve.

It is ok to be afraid. Fear drives people to greatness.

And greatness is what the man requires.

He bids you farewell.

You are standing in the middle of central park in Big Apple.

The Man In Black has departed. The only thing marking his passing is the circle of bare ground where the snow has melted away beneath your feet.

You are alone and you are scared.

The snow falls silently around you.

You cry and nobody comes to help you.
