You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, one of the twenty teenagers the news were yapping about last night and currently biting a queen of spades.

Yesterday... You had one hell of a day, not enough sleep, having to wolf down your lunch and surviving a villain attack instead of your scheduled rescue training, all in one day.
At least you got to do some rescuing, even if you would have very much prefered it to be unnecessary. Mr. Aizawa thanked you for it though, so there was that.

And last night, beyond watching the fuzz the incident caused on the news and enjoying a three course dinner with your mother, you did very little.

You took apart Tin's axle to carve a makeshift wheel out of the molten mass of rubber the fire made out of its original wheel before putting it back together, letting it move around without stumbling every turn. It was the least you could do for the little guy, and it still falls sideways if it stops on the wrong part of its wheel.
You also let it take your deck of playing cards. Turns out japan doesn't like poker much.

The other thing you did was taking a selfie on your swivel chair to send your friends. "Alive and awake, mostly whole." You wrote before sending it.

You started getting replies within the minute, but apparently fell asleep before getting to read any.

It all came together when a playing card poked your eyelid and brought you back to the waking world, and a quick look around let you know a few things.

First, you didn't intend on falling asleep over the desk, so the blanket covering you made no sense. The second would be that your hat wasn't on your head, but on the desk. Third thing was that there were cards strewn around your face, in your hair and inside your hat.

"Wha-" You managed to say, lifting your head from the desk and catching the aforementioned queen of spades with your teeth.

>"Target acquired." The tiny robot in front of you says, picking up another card and throwing it, the piece of cardboard flying over your head, between your horns and into the hat. "Kill."

You glare at the small machine for a second before spitting out the card and standing up, stretching and letting the cards in the rat's nest that is your hair fall.
If Momma saw fit to let you sleep in…
Oh, right. School is closed today. You have time.

After a nice and slow shower and a good (and quite frankly, painful) brushing, you are nice, clean and back on your feet, rummaging through your drawers for something casual to wear.

A few minutes later you are trying out an attire consisting of black boots, stonewashed jeans that border between gray and blue, a gray lowish cut scoop necked shirt and your open cropped leather vest.

Looking at yourself on your full body mirror, it keeps the focus on your face, blue eyes and golden hair…

And the open, cropped vest should make it easy to for you to flirt.

Whether it's just for fun or to distract from how often your foot ends in your mouth, it's nice.

The colors may be a bit dull compared to your normal attires… But looking over your hair and at your shorter right horn, you aren't feeling like bursting out with the red, white and blue or any other bright colors… You still wear the texan flag as close to your chest as possible, but no one should see that.

But before anything else, you go check out the smell of eggs and bacon that started wafting up from the kitchen.
It's just Momma humming softly as she fixes brunch, cooking bacon on a skillet while bobbing her head to the tune, completing it with the ring of her bell.

>"Morning sleepyhead, mind lending me a hand?" She asks, looking up from the bacon cooking on the skillet.

You just nod and join in, relieving her of the bacon and starting working on the gravy on your own, checking the milk just in case. You never know in japan...

After a relaxing hour of cooking and watching Momma bake, both of you share a nice meal of sliced cornbread slathered with gravy, eggs, cheese, onion and crumbled bacon.
It was almost as enjoyable as it was making it.

After putting the dishes away, you just sit with your mother around the kotatsu, sipping a coke.

>"So… What are you gonna do today hun?" She asks, holding her cup. "Got any plans?"
"I don't think-" Huh. You interrupt yourself, remembering Kaminari's question a few days ago. "I think I have a date."
>"A date?.." She says with a smile, then looks at you with curiosity. "...You think?"
"Yesterday happened Momma." You reply, letting your shoulders fall. "Not sure if this kind of thing stands after that."
>"You should make sure." She says, sipping her green tea and… Encouraging you? "Could be fun if it still stands."
"...You want me to go?" You ask her, feeling a tad suspicious. "You don't even know him."
>"I just think that a dose of normality might do you well." She says, hiding her face behind her cup. "Boys, sleepovers, your gals and such, not... fighting for your life."
"Barely did any fighting…" You grumble, hiding your own face behind your coke.
>"I could give you some cash to go to town, if you want." She offers, folding her ears back. "Treat yourself to something nice for me."

It's about noon, and you have a free day ahead of you to spend as you want…

What do you do?

"I don't know." You reply, pulling out your phone. "I need to see how's the rest doing."

You have a lot of texts, that looking at their timestamps, can be classified as 'before last night's news' and 'After last night's news'.

On the first group, Itsuka wrote back barely a minute after you sent the picture.

>"What happened!?"
>"You can't send this and not tell us why!"

Pony took a bit longer, and was way less… wordy.
>"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA[...]"

It goes on for a screen and a half.
Sharing the horn pain, you guess.

On the horn train, Mina sent some texts too, but at least she knew what happened before hand.
Her's still reads worried, or maybe nervous though.

>"Will you be okay?"
>"It'll grow back, right?"
>"We can get it a nice cap if it doesn't."
>"But I'm sure it will!!!"

Kyoka sent her two cents too, although they were less concerned…
It ought to be hard to feel for something you flat out don't have.

>"Nice to see you awake."
>"Shame about the horn. Looks cool though, all jagged."
>"Think about the bragging rights."
>"'This I got fighting villains when I was fifteen'"
>"Not many heroes can say something like that."

Momo's text was closer to an acknowledgement of having received your text than a response, really.

>"That accounts for the whole class being fine. Try to stay down and rest!"

Shoto's are...

>"You overexerted yourself."
>"Try to not do that again."
>"I prefer when you drag me around."
>"Not carrying you on a stretcher."

…very him.
Sweet in a way, though.

Oddly enough, Tsuyu sent something too, even though you never gave her your number.

>"Are you okay, Ushi?"
>"You looked more sad than in pain."
>"Are they important to you?"

Observant and to the point.
That's Tsu alright.

A less expected text came from your wrestling teacher, you didn't send her anything.

>"Hey kid, you better have a good excuse for not showing up! >:3"

...She probably sent that with her mask on.
You did miss yesterday's class, but you are pretty sure no one can blame you.

You don't get any new texts from your class after the news, but it seems that you won't have to explain anything to your class B pals, or your teacher.
>>
File: Pikachu.jpg (33 KB, 225x350)

Itsuka sent the first, with unprecedented eloquence.

>"Shit."
>"Saw the news, a 'League of Villains'… Damn."
>"That explains why the teachers ran off."
>"Get better, you didn't look too well on that stretcher."

Aw…
You hoped to appear on national T.V for your merits at some point, not for... living.
And you really would have prefered to be conscious.

The time also gave Pony a chance to organize her ideas into words.

>"<Attackt on the first week!?>"
>"<And your horn!>"
>"<And next to your birthday!>"
>"<Don't worry, we'll fix this!>"

...Now she only needs to explain herself.
Whatever she has in mind, you would at least hear it out.

Your wrestling teacher's mind seemingly changed too.

>"...Forget that last text."
>"Hopefully you didn't need to wrestle, but if you did, I hope that it served you well."
>"See you next week :3"

... She's in her twenties or something, the cat faces aren't cute.
They are just creepy.

That's odd.
You scroll all the way up and back down again, but you don't see anything from Kaminari.

>"So, did this mystery boy confirm?" Momma asks.
"I got nothing." You answer sincerely, looking up his number in your contacts.
>"How rude." She comments.
"I'm going to call him, I wouldn't blame him if he forgot." You confess.

The only person you know who probably knows how to react to this sort of situation is Shoto, and you aren't sure if 'numb to further trauma' can ever be something good.

You call and wait for him to pick up, twirling a lock of your hair.
And you greet him the moment he does.

"Howdy! Kaminari, right?" You ask, making sure you got the right number.
>"...Walker?" He asks back. It's a bit distorted, but you can recognize the voice of the boy that was with you in the fire zone yesterday. "Yeah, it's me, feeling better?"
"Sure do, thanks!" You answer before going straight to the point. "Is today's deal still on?"
>"Huh… I mean, sure." He says, sounding a bit surprised. "If you want."
"...Why didn't you call or text or anything?" You ask, raising an eyebrow… at your phone.
>"I honestly expected you to stay in bed and we could talk tomorrow." He answers. "I just thought that pressing for a date after yesterday would have been a dick move."
"Fair enough..." You say, though something bugs you.
>"So… We still on?"

>What do you do?

>[Take control. "Why don't you come over, I call the girls and I whip up some dinner?"

So nobody us going to comment on how Tin is able to speak now?
>>
>>2206706
One point robots could always say “target acquired” and “I’ll kill you!”

What should be surprising is that he’s playing games by himself.
>>
"Sure. What's the plan?" You ask him. It feels odd to follow someone else, but he asked and you accepted. It stands to reason that
>"You know Rothar Square? Let's meet at the park's fountain in an hour. I'm thinking of going for a coffee and a chat at my favorite shop, then we could go check out what is said to be the best burgers in Musutafu." He says, his voice brimming with confidence. "You'll love it!"
"Sounds cool!" You reply before asking. "...Am I supposed to bring a third?"

You can see Momma nod and bring up her hands, one with three fingers raised and the other with four, then lower one and leave only two fingers up on the other, shaking her head.

Three or four, not two.

>"I don't think it's needed? We are going to go for coffee, chat and and grab a bite." He explains. "But if you want to bring a friend to make it less awkward… Sure."
"Alright, I'll think about that." You say. "See ya later then?"
>"I'll be waiting!" He answers.

After that you hang up.

>"That sounded like it went well." Momma comments. "So who are you going call?"
"He said it wasn't necessary?" You half answer, half avoid the question.
>"True." She says. "But if you so much as hold hands without a friend you might as well put a price tag on your pants. With three or more you are just having a good time, no strings attached."
"I think I like the american way more." You reply, a bit appalled. "Much simpler."
>"And how would you know?" Momma asks, raising an eyebrow. Then she adds in a slightly mocking tone. "Did you keep a boy hidden from me back on Texas? How scandalous!"
"Hum… Zip it!" You 'answer' storming upstairs and earning a giggle from her.

… You don't think it's funny.
Boys back home tried to be… grabby.
Nothing you couldn't handle, and nothing that happened more than once before you took care of it, but it was more than enough to put off the whole song and dance awhile longer.
Never told Momma or Pa, though.
No need to escalate things.
To them, you just weren't interested.

Anyways, you pocket your wallet, keys and phone and put on your hat, ready to go out.

Going "1-on-1" has a high chance of being seen as going straight into a relationship.

You dig out your phone and slide through your contacts.
You don't have Kirishima's number, but you have Mina's and she should have it, right?
So you call her and go downstairs, making a point out of striding in front of Momma as the phone rings.

>"Yo!.. Ushi... Are you okay?" Mina asks right after picking up. She sounds a bit groggy
"Are you?" You ask her. "You don't sound too well."
>"I was sleeping…" She answers. "...I think. Mostly staring at the ceiling."

That sounds more like moping.

"Hum… Should I leave you to it?" You ask, fairly confused. What are you supposed to do?
>"Please no." She answers. "I hate this!"
"...Feel like going out?" You bring up the real cause for the call. "I need a third and a fourth for a date."
>"Sure!" She answers without missing a beat. "...who are we going out with?"
"Kaminari. And I was going to call Kirishima for a fourth, but I don't have his number. I thought you might have it…" You explain. "Can you call him?"
>"No problem!" She says, starting to sound like excited pink gal you've come to know this last few days. "...when and where though?"
"Rothar Square, at the fountain in like... fifty minutes or so. Think you can make it?" You ask her.
>"I'll be there!" She says, before the sound of running water takes over the call. "But I have to hang, this thing won't survive a second shower. See ya!"
"...Bye?" You reply before she hangs up.

...That went well.

"There. A second girl and probably a second boy." You tell Momma, lowering your phone. "Happy now?"
>"Damn right I am." She answers. "Now, don't drink anything you didn't open or receive directly and come back before it gets too dark."
"...Anything else?" You ask in the flattest deadpan voice you can muster.
>"Have fun honey!" She says, waving at you.
"I'll try" You tell her, walking to and out of the front door.

All in all, it looks like a beautiful spring day.
Not that much in the way of nature, as cities are wont to be, but as you walk down to the relatively close park that Mina and Kirishima introduced you to a couple of days ago, you can feel the tingle of the spring sun on your skin and the base of your horns, the slight itch that reminds you every year that you are both still growing, and a quarter or so plant.

Although the sound of cars and pigeons isn't the most relaxing symphony, it's still a nice and enjoyable walk. And it didn't take that long either, allowing you to take a couple dozen minutes to enjoy the park itself and the fact that being a workday, it's mostly empty.

So you take possession of a bench behind the fountain, cover your eyes with your hat, pluck a blade of grass to chew on and wait.

>"I am! Can't mess this up though." Kaminari's voice exclaims. "Not sure if you've seen her, but I'm pretty sure I'm swinging out of my league."
>"Wait until you meet her mom." Kirishima comments.
>"...What?"
>"You'll know when you see her." Kirishima says. "Anyway, again, I'm sorry for butting in. Pinks insisted… And I really didn't have anything better to do."
>"It's cool. I'm just glad it wasn't Todoroki." You hear Kaminari say. "Pretty sure I'd end the third wheel there."
>"Well, it's just me and I swear I won't interfere. That'd be dishonorable." Kirishima comments. "But I hope the girls get here soon, I skipped lunch."
Well, ain't that interesting…
Also, it's pretty good grass.

Talking about Momma?
You get it, she makes makes you look small in every possible way.
But she does it to everyone, and you are way over that.
Still, that ain't 'nice'...

You clean your throat loudly, calling the attention of the boys from the other side of the noisy fountain.

"Howdy." You greet them, flicking your hat back and crossing your arms over your chest, uncovering your frowning eyes. "Your kind of late, had me warming this here bench."
>"Hi! Sorry about the waiting." Kaminari says, waving. "Ran into Kirishima on the way. Turns out he's coming with us."
"So I heard." You say, lightly glaring at the redhead. "What was that about Momma, mmh?"

There's a certain comedic value to their red faces, but especially Kirishima's betrayed face when Kaminari shuffles a few feet away from him, leaving him alone to face your 'wrath'.

>"I just meant that you have a lot of growing up to do." Kirishima says, glaring at Kaminari.
"Oh my! Were you looking at my mom?" You ask, feigning to adjust your hat to hide your smirk. "She's a married woman mister! Thou shall not covet!"
>"I swear I have no idea." Kaminari says, raising his hands. "Like, of anything that's going on."
>"Thanks. Real stand up, man." Kirishima says, then turns back to you and lets his head hang. "I...it was hard! Not to, I mean, she's huge!"

It's odd seeing him trip up on his words, but is even weirder to see him apologizing instead of denying it. Not a bad thing, just... new.

"What would Father say!?" You say, faking a dismayed tone. And you'd have to admit that's hard to keep up the charade. "Besides, she likes 'em tall."

You've been harping a bit too hard on Kirishima…
Standing up and walking next to your date, leaning forwards and whispering breathily to his ear behind your hand. "I don't, by the way~"

...And he's back to a shade of red.

...Nice.

You then take a few steps back to appreciate your work.
Kirishima is looking at the ground and sweating bullets, while Kaminari is just looking beyond the horizon.
The entire situation under your control...
You love it.

Still, it's more than a bit cruel…

"Relax man, I don't care. I'm just messing with you." You tell Kirishima, setting your hat properly on your head and giving him a good natured grin. Then add with a genuine glare. "...Unless you actually try something. Then I'll get mad."
>"Geesh. Not gonna happen." He says, pounding his chest and breathing in relief. "Still, that was mean."

>"Yo! Ushi! Eiji! Kaminari!" Comes Mina's voice from the park's entrance, jogging towards you.
>"Hey Pinks, you are late!" Kirishima waves at your fellow horned gal.
"Howdy!" You greet her as she closes the distance.
>"Sorry, got distracted on the way here." Mina says, then points at Kaminari with her thumb. "So… What happened?"
"I had to kill time somehow." You say, smiling smugly and shrugging. "And I didn't even touch him, just words... And your pal here confessed to checking out my mom."

She just looks at Kirishima and raises an eyebrow to which he shrugs.

Then she looks up to your horns and her smile falters.
>"...Do you want to talk about-" She says, keeping her voice low before you interrupt her.
"No." You answer, whispering in kind and straining to keep your smile up. "Not today."
>"...Okay!" She says, her smile flipping back on like a switch. "Then let's go!"
>"Alright!" Kirishima says. "Let's grab a bite."
"Yeah!" You join in.

Hang on.

Then you shake the blonde by his shoulders.
"Hey, better snap out of it." You tell him. "We have a date to go on and you are the only one who knows where are we going."
>"...R-Right!" He says, beaming a confident smile despite his stuttering.

He then begins walking towards the park's entrance, pointing forwards.

>"This way!" He says, motioning for you all to follow him.

You do so, and within a couple minutes, you are walking next to him while Kirishima and Mina follow behind, chatting.

You recognize a few shops and restaurants at the beginning, but after the first few turns it becomes a whole new world, but not of the shining, shimmering and splendid kind, but one with enough dark corridors to make you glad that you brought friends.

...Until you smell coffee.
A minute later, he opens the door to a surprisingly large café for how hidden it seems to be.
"Welcome to my favorite coffee shop here in the south." He says, ushering you in. "It's a pretty well stocked bookstore as well."

You take a few steps in, take off your hat and let your senses wander.

The place smells of ground coffee, of sweet pastries and toast, and while you can hear some of the machines working, the main sound in the background has to be the people talking around, chatting softly all around. Visually, what catches your eye is not the cakes on display or the elegant cups, but the… Books.

Over every table with patrons, there's one or more tomes strewn around the drinks and snacks, while most of the patrons seem to be reading, either studying in groups and explaining things to each other or just enjoying a some fiction.

Not that the pastries don't look delish either.

"I didn't peg you as a reader." You say, a bit surprised.
>"Told you, bag of surprises." He says, pointing a finger gun at you.

In a few minutes, the four of you are sitting at a rather large table, waiting for your orders.
Mina pointed at a messy chocolate cake with chocolate syrup on it and ordered a slice of it.
Kirishima ordered a meat sandwich from the breakfast menu, but after a few seconds of smiling at the waitress she allowed it.
Kaminari just ordered a large coffee.
So do you, along with a spongy looking cake apparently called a Castella.

>"I found this place a while ago, when I was looking on the internet how to pass the written entrance exam." Kaminari says, waving an arm around, showing you the place. "It was called a nice place to study."
>"Did it work?" Mina asks.

"..." You look around the table at that question.
Kirishima looks like this is something common, and Kaminari apparently doesn't register how dumb the question is so you don't bring it up.

>"Yeah!" Kaminari answers. "Didn't get any prize winning grades, but I got in. People usually underestimate how hard that part is."
>"I know, right?" Mina affirms.
"And what do you do here now?" You ask. It's better than telling them you just crammed the day before.
>"Honestly?" He starts, then scratches his chin. "I don't know if I can get smarter, but I can try knowing what am I talking about. So I pick something old and give it a read, and if it's not working, at the very least I'm acquiring an unexpected proficiency in the use of archaic affronts."

"Oh…" You say, understanding. Then you muster forth your most sober expression. "Would it be possible, then, that yesterday's verbose rebuke was facilitated by this establishment and its services?"
>"Indeed." Kaminari responds, looking impressed.

Kirishima looks the same way, while Mina just looks bored.

"What about you?" Kaminari asks you.
"Imagine living in a rural area." You start, remembering the ranch. "There's supposed to be internet, but it's in that middle point in the Venn diagram between 'slow', 'unstable' and 'within the ISP's promises' which makes anything but downloading small files a pain. I spent most of my free time either playing outside, watching movies in physical formats and reading whatever I could get my thumbs on."

>"Yeah, I heard someone say that you are from the southern part of america." He comments. "Is it like Hokkaido? You sound like you are from there, what with the euphonious accent."
"Like the best parts, and without the terrible ones, yes." You answer, keeping the details vague. "Momma's from the north though, so she's to thank for that one."
"<It is mighty similar to my english one though, so that might have bled in too.>" You add in english. "Just saying that my english does sound pretty similar to it. Pretty sure my spanish did too, but I'm rusty on that one."

Never got hang of the damnable hard 'r'.

>"How was it, back in America?" He asks "School, friends, pets…"

And for the second time in too short a time, you strain to keep up your smile.

Luckily for you, the waitress comes back with your orders right then, giving you the chance to scald your throat and stall for a bit.

Mmh… Piping hot and not at all bitter, no cream either.
It's pretty good.

After a few more sips of your coffee to order your ideas you finally come up with a satisfying answer. You aren't on the other side of the globe to mull on what you left behind, and even if he ends up being 'the one' that's still too much baggage to throw at someone you are just getting to know.

"Well…" You start, lowering your cup and thinking of the past. Back home, you weren't exactly a straight A student, but you never really struggled with any subject either. "School back home… I got good grades, but nothing great. And I've been this side of the pacific for just over three months and I can't recall any friends anymore, so make of that what you will"

Kaminari, sitting opposite of you just winces at that, while Mina, next to you, tilts her head a bit to the side.
Kirishima, sitting next to Kaminari... He's just enjoying his sandwich.

>"Couldn't be real friends if you forgot them already." The blonde boy says, sipping his own cup.
"No one worth mentioning." You agree, trying a forkful of cake. Sweet and soft, it's pretty nice. "Not people anyway. Gramps dogs though? Ace, Benny and Chance. Real sweethearts."

You didn't get much out of people outside your family…
...But you did get along with most animals.

"They never obeyed me and they liked to topple me, but there's something magical to riding through the countryside on the back of a pickup truck surrounded by fluffy doggos that you just can't forget..." You say, accidentally slipping into a wistful tone.

Before he can comment on that however, you turn the tables on him.

"So what's your story, sparky?" You ask him, pointing at him with a coffee stirrer stick. "What gets an electric type quirk aiming for, well, anything hard or dangerous at all?"
>"I kind of aspire to more than getting hooked to a machine everyday." He says with a grimace, and you nod sharply. "The talk of town, the cream of the crop… That's what I'm aiming for."
"So, you got into heroics for popularity?" You ask. Not in judgement, but in genuine curiosity.
>"Sort of?.." He answers. "I mean, there's other ways to do it, but working to helping keep the peace with my quirk… It makes the popularity a consequence, you know? Stand out in a good way."
"Be a good hero and people will like you." You comment, recalling the disgrace that Captain Celebrity turned out to be. "Not the other way around."
>"Yeah! That's the idea." He says, Pumping his fist and hitting the table with his elbow, making everything on it bounce and spilling a bit of your coffee on your hand. "Shit, sorry!"

It's cooled down quite a bit by now, and you aren't exactly a belle, so it's more of a nuisance than a pain, but you still flinch and shake it off.

"Napkin?" He asks nervously from his seat, offering you one.
>"...Thanks." You reply, taking the not-really-absorbent paper and cleaning yourself.

The jury seems lukewarm on this one, as Mina gives you a subtle thumbs down just below the edge of the table, while Kirishima shakes his head slightly and shrugs.

Well, you told him quite a bit about you, time to get him to tell you a bit about himself.

"You said this is your favorite coffee shop here in the south." You recall, then ask. "What do you meant?"
>"Down in Kanto." He says, then elaborates at your confused expression. "I'm from Saitama, North of Tokyo, or part of Tokyo depending on who you ask. Tip, it's not."
"So you aren't from Musutafu?" You ask, wondering why is he here.
>"Not really. But anything in the Great Tokyo Area can be called part of the same neighborhood, so I just take the train." He explains, then sighs. "I'm trying to get my parents to rent a room here. I don't think I'll survive three years of waking up two hours early."
"Parent problems?" You ask him, it's unlikely his and your's are similar, but you can lend an ear.
>"Sort of." He says, apparently looking of words. "They are pretty permissive and not stingy with the cash, but I feel like they are watching over my shoulder whenever they can. Makes staying home… Odd. So I stay out, wander around, try new places..."

That... doesn't make any sense to you. Family is all you've ever been able to count on for most of your life. They look out for you. It's what family does![i/]

"To avoid your own family." You say, your voice dripping disdain.
>"Not avoid…" He backpedals. "Just… getting some me time."
"...Right." You say, dropping your gaze from him to your cake. "... at their expense."
>"Sorry for wanting to be alone or with my friends, geez." He excuses himself.
"...That's not right." You ask, looking down and stirring your cooling coffee. "You should be grateful."
The silence that falls over your table then is only kept away from the dead kind by your and Mina's forks scraping your plates.

>"So... what were you going to do today?" The other boy at the table asks his friend, in a clear attempt at making the atmosphere less awkward.
>"Nothing at all. But I do think playing wing girl is more fun, so..." She says, pointing at him with her fork and dripping chocolate syrup all over the table, then flicks it towards you. "Oops~"

It takes you a second to process that one of your friends just made a mess out of your vest and stained your shirt.

"Mina, <what the f-!>" You ask before she interrupts you by shoving you and almost throwing you off your seat.
>"Sorry! I'll help you clean up." She says, then turns back to the table's two remaining occupants, the confused Kirishima and the annoyed Kaminari. "Wait for us a minute!"

You stand up and follow the sign to the girls' restroom, with Mina right behind you.
It's, in fact, a restroom. There's nothing remarkable about it, which is rather nice with this kind of thing.
Three stalls, three washbasins with a large mirror above, and a few appliances, all surrounded by white tiles.

"Now then, the fuck was that!" You ask her with clear indignation, looking at your clothes in the mirror. Most of it is on the vest, so it will clean easily, but still!
>"A bail!" She says pinching the bridge of her nose. "Now you tell me what was that back there!?"
"What?" You ask her, taking a paper towel and placing it under the faucet.
>"That scolding thing!" She exclaims, throwing her arms up. "The hell was that!?"
"Dude ditches his family to go have fun!" You tell her, angrily wiping the syrup off your vest.
>"You are doing that, like, right now." Mina says, dragging her hand down her face.
"I have permission, and I'll be back in a few hours." You defend yourself.
>"Guy just comes back home late." She says, looking exactly how you did a while ago.
"Oh." You say. "Just that. ...Did I fuck up?"
>"...Yeah." She affirms slowly. "He didn't leave, so it wasn't too bad, but..."
"But..?" You urge her to continue, finishing your clean up and throwing the paper towel on a trashcan.
>"Let's say I wouldn't blame him if this ends as a one time thing." She says, averting her gaze. "Also, you still have syrup on your shirt."
"No one looks at the shirt anyway." You say, sighing. "Think I can fix this?"

>"Well, yeah." The pink gal says, giving you a light punch on the shoulder. "Just don't fuck up again."
"Real good advice." You deadpan. "Anything else?"
>"Hmm…" She taps her chin and looks at the ceiling for a second. "Oh! Don't offer to pay."
"What?" Each day that passes, you are more and more aware of the fact that his whole country doesn't make any sense.
>"That'll tell him you think he's worthless. Between basically saying he's not good with family, and implyin' he can't pay for coffee… Eh." She says with a grimace. "I think you get it."
"Ah think so?" You say, unsure.
>"Good enough for me!" She says, heading back with a smile, before stopping at the door and giving you a small tip. "But look at the bill, trust me."

You look at your reflection, flash it a smile, and follow Mina back to the table, standing next to it instead of sitting for some reason.

>"So, what did we miss?" Mina asks, as cheery as ever.
>"Nothing much." Kirishima says, pulling at his shirt's neck. "Asked for the bill and I was just asking Kaminari about that place we are going next."
>"Galaxy Burger." The blonde says, looking at the few drops of coffee still in his cup as he twirls it. "They honor the name with the meals. It's not far away either."
>"...Isn't it a bit too early for dinner?" Mina asks, giving the redhead a thumbs up.

You shake your head at that.

>"Well... know the Dagobah Park?" He asks, making you shake your head again. "At the beach? No?"
"'Nope." You say. "...How does it connect with the burgers though?"
>"I was thinking of getting take out, walking to the shore and then by it till the park." He shrugs. "Then eat at the gazebo. Place was a dump, but it looks new for some reason now. We gotta see it while it's still a date spot."

The hell was a gazebo…

You don't get to ponder it much, as Mina gives a swift kick to the back of your leg.

"S-ow-nds lovely, sugar!" You say, not sure if you should feel thankful or offended at Mina's 'help'.

It's at this moment that the waitress arrives with the bills. Two of them.
Obviously, Kaminari takes one, but the fact that the other is picked up by Mina doesn't escape you.

And, as she recommended, you scoot closer and look over his shoulder at the bil. 400¥ for each cup of coffee and 300¥ for the cake… That looks expensive, but you don't really know, and it's not much money anyway.

"Looks expensive." You comment, pulling yourself away from his personal space.
>"A bit, but don't worry, I got this!" Kaminari says, pulling out his wallet.

You smile at him and say nothing, as you have learned to say when you don't know what to say. It makes sense sometimes.
It's still strange to not pay your part though, but it makes him… Happy?

In a couple of minutes you are out of the coffee shop, and again walking besides your date, who seems to have perked up a bit, as he gives one or the other indication around the quiet streets, then the busier ones, as the four of you return to more busy and populated streets.

It's awkward really.
You are not really in public, yet not alone.
There's a bit of smalltalk, but it's closer to water cooler talk.
You are right besides him, but not meant to even touch him.
At least he hasn't tried anything… Which is kind of wierder, if nice.

Hell, Ashido and Kirishima seem to be having more fun, taking pictures with defaced street signs behind you and using their quirks to scribble on things.

I kinda want to salvage this date, he definitely seems like a nice guy. It's a shame we accidentally dumpstered on him for having family issues like any other teenager. I guess being socially isolated and instead relying on your parents gives a different perspective on things.

Well, thinking about it…
You can't call your upbringing normal, considering how isolated and alone you were until a couple of weeks ago, maybe you shouldn't try to pass judgement on other's families?

No that's stupid.
You know there's no maybe in there.
Mina pretty much sang it out in the restroom.
You just heard something you didn't understand and instead of trying to figure out what his deal is, you just went and interpreted it in the worst way possible and threw a tantrum.
Good going, you dumb animal
At least you didn't fuck this up too bad…
So as the four of you make your way through the now bursting streets of Musutafu, filled with the students of the city's other schools, you take a breath and try to do the right thing.

"I'm sorry." You say, crossing an arm over her your chest and rubbing the other.
>"Huh?" Kaminari 'asks', looking at you.
"For earlier… You know, asking about your family and then nagging you about it? Took it a tad too personal and had a knee jerk reaction. Sorry." You say. "Turns out the American rural south and the Japanese urban north lives are different, who'd have thunk it?"
>"...Do you miss it?" He asks you.
"Wha?" You ask, confused.
>"Home." He tells you. "Back there?"
"Oh." You say, surprised. Kind of a deep reaching question, but it's not exactly a secret... "Every single day. The ranch, the clean air, my family…"
>"Guess we don't have anything to offer here at this side of the globe, heh?" He says, finishing in a tittering laugh.
"Don't be silly." You wave him off. "We're here after all."
>"...What?" He asks, dodging a sign as he keeps walking without looking forwards.

You wave an arm around, motioning towards your date and your pals some yards behind you.

"The people, dummy. I do like this place. Y'all make me feel…" You explain, looking for the right words. "Liked. Just for being myself. Back home my family were the only ones who did that."
"So… Sorry." You say, giving him your best smile and allowing yourself to dig at the ground with your boot. "Please don't be mad?"

He stops and stares at you for a few seconds.
Seconds during which you smile strains and drops, as does your gaze.
Well, you tried…

>"I don't get it." He suddenly says.
"Sorry. I'll leave…" You don't exactly understand how does that apply, but maybe you did fuck up that badly.
>"No, not that, I forgive you!" He says hurriedly. "The other thing. A girl like you, unliked?"
>>
File: Facebook kills pics.jpg (44 KB, 383x383)

"Yeah." You say, stopping and blowing a puff of steam out of your nose. "A girl like me."

Several red flags in your head tell you not to do what you are about to, that there has to be a better way, but you do it anyway.
You dig out your phone and look around the images gallery, looking up a picture of your mother.
You know you can hide that side of yours if you keep your mouth shut, but any attempt at that always fell apart as soon as momma entered the picture.

"I'm like half 'pure' human, one fourth Katsura tree, and one fourth cattle." You say, crossing your arms and handing him your phone with the pic on the screen. "Back home my family were the only ones who saw it all. Everyone else who found out just saw that last part."
"So... "You start, unfolding your arms and lowering your head a bit, hiding your eyes behind the brim of your hat. "What do you see, in a girl like me?"

Again, he takes his sweet time to say anything.
Then you feel him take your hand and place your phone on your palm before letting go of both.

>"Here." He says as you look up to his smiling face. "Was that your mom?"
"Years ago. Yes." You say, pocketing your phone and looking at him straight in the eye. "So?"
>"I see what Kirishima meant." He says. "But I prefer the improved model."
"Uh?" You say, taken aback.
>"Not gonna lie, she's hot." He starts, raising his hands in a placating manner. "But I prefer the cute girl who smells like autumn and is willing to give me a chance."
"That's worth more than just being hot… Which you are, too." He says with a shrug, his smile not faltering.

You lower your hat again, this time hoping the shade can hide your rising blush.
This is not normal.
You are the one who does this.
Move in, speak sweetly or touch softly and watch them melt, then pull away and see the shame.
Only that this time, you are at the other side of the sweet talking.
And it's working. There's also no 'Just messing with you' or anything of that ilk.
Just a boy with some nice words and even nicer smile.

"...Like autumn?" You ask softly. "Howdya know?"
>"I rode on your shoulder for some time." He says. "Your hair smells like… an autumn afternoon at Besshonuma."

When di- Oh. Yesterday.
You get why he didn't specify.
Not now.
USJ things can wait a bit longer.

>"...eeeeee…." You hear Mina squeal as she looks at you and Kaminari, giving a double thumbs up.

Kirishima for his part frowns at his friend's antics for a second before shaking his head and smiling your way.
Not the best start with those two, but they are growing on you.
>>
After that the ambient becomes much lighter, as you chat about everything that comes to mind, asking questions in turns. A couple minutes of talking about why no one plays poker (illegal gambling), some of how much he remembers of when he 'short circuits' (not much more than a dream), of how does grass and other plants taste (varies), of how being an only child in the city and in the countryside can be so different…

You talk of great many things, to the point that you don't particularly mind waiting in line at the burger joint.
In fact, the four of you just come with a slightly ilegal plan about the the meal during the line, as Kaminari just buys a single huge burger, the eponymous Galaxy Burger.
With just a tap, you'll make it the size of a pizza when you arrive.
And, in your opinion, the hostile glare of the cashier as you took condiment packages by the fistful was unwarranted. If they wanted you to take only one they should have a sign or something.

Thus, the four of you make your way to the beach with no more baggage than Kirishima's bag.
...Which stopped being in his possession the instant you all stepped on the sand.

>"Race ya to the gazebo!" Mina shouts as the sprints away, leaving deep imprints in the sand.
"...She'll be panting halfway there." You tell Kirishima and Kaminari. "Running in sand is way harder than concrete."

...Or rather, just Kaminari, as the redhead speeds after his friend.

>"It looks fun." He says, inching closer in a playfully obvious manner. "Don't you think?"

>What do you do?

>[Tip your head slightly and let him take your hat, it does sound fun. Besides, it's nigh impossible for you to lose an endurance race like this.]

Kaminari has just gone above and beyond Dark Horse status. He's definitely a solid contender in my heart. If it comes to a vote at the end of the date, I fully support officially dating Kaminari. Fuck Endeavor and his eugenics.
>>
>inb4 Kaminari trains the fuck up and challenges Todoroki in the sports festival as a proclamation of love
>>
It's weird. On the one hand, both we and Ushi find his date kinda lame but on the other hand he's super charming and willing to forgive our foot-in-mouth syndrome. Hmm. I feel like we need to date more boys to establish a baseline.
>>
>>2217366
He's an earnest guy who's self-aware. I wanna give him a shot. Shopping around sounds super sketchy and a quick way to get us a particular reputation, even if we make them group dates like this one.
>>
>>2217203
>[Let him get closer and take his sunglasses, let's see if he can catch you!

Smooth sailing operator.
>>
>>2217372
I don't really want to jump into a relationship with him though.
I like Todo's character better, and I feel Ushi and him go together better.
>>
>>2217372
This is however why we brought Team Horn Squad. Shopping around is the norm here, weirdly?

I like what I'm seeing here, but at the very least he's still competing with Shoto for now.
>>
>>2217390
Why not wait then? I must admit though Denki just managed to be at the same level, if not higher, then Shoto on the Ushi bowl.

Maybe we should spend more time with then and have more in between dates to have a opinion. Also i want to have a study group with Momo and Jiro
>>
>>2217412
I'm not against waiting. For me, Shoto is still no 1, but we didn't go on a date with him yet, so we should do that in the interest of fairness, before locking anything down.
>>
>>2217431
I say to make a decision we need at leat two or three dates with friends before deciding who we should date. After all we still have three years to get to know then.
>>
>>2217442
>>2217431
>>2217412
I'm probably being a prude, but doing group dates with a number of guys with the express aim of choosing one at the end of it sounds sketchy. Especially when we're friends with all of them. Sounds awkward and an easy way to damage social links.
>>
>>2217462
Well so far we only got in a date with Denki because, unlike Bakugou, he wasn't a ass to us. Shoto is in the bro tire right now and i don't think he would invite us for a date.

Not saying we should go around asking for dates or accepting all that are passed to us. Just that if we like a guy we should have at least two or three dates with him before making a choice.
>>
>>2217462
Our options are:
Hang out in groups.
Hang out with one person at a time.
Don't socialize.

So it's basically either we go on group dates, be a slut, or don't make friends with more than one guy.

Right? Is that how Japan works?
>>
>>2217478
Uh. You do realize we basically went on a date with Shoto already, right?
>>
>>2217486
That was unofficial, and doesn't count.
It was unsupervised for one thing.
>>
>>2217493
That just makes it more of a date, you know? you're not really helping your position.
>>
>>2217480
>Right? Is that how Japan works?

Pretty much yeah.

>>2217486
That doesn't count, that was more something out of the moment and something two friends would do together. Shoto didn't invited us we just..hangged togetherm
>>
>>2217486
>>2217493
>>2217499

That was EXTREMELY a date. We're in the clear because nobody caught us, but if the class knew that that'd just cement what they already thought was there.

Plus, ditching his father to go play videogames with a cute girl is a dream Shoto probably didn't even know he had until it happened.
>>
>>2217523
It was 2 friends hanging out. There was no romantic intention, so we don't know how romantically compatible we are. It wasn't a date.
>>
>>2217508
>>2217523
I agree with anon. We definitely went on a date with Shoto, it was more dangerous. Good thing Shto is an autist and hates his dad or he would think Ushi is a huge slut for what she did.
>>
>>2217531
I disagree, but you are entilted to have a opinion
>>
>>2217609
It's definitely a more Western definition of a date. But it was fun either way, we should do it again.
>>
>>2217625
Problem is i don't see the current Shoto taking any kind of initiative to ask Ushi out and the rest of the class is way to intimidated by him. Except Takoyami and maybe Momo.
>>
>>2217635
Takoyami?

Are you talking about Fumikage or Izuku?
>>
>>2217635
Maybe we can use getting Ochaco and Izuku together as a pretense to get Shoto to go on a date with us. They can interact in a low pressure environment where they don't have any expectations put on them as they are just supervising.
>>
>>2217671

Well…
It's pretty dumb, and you are sure Kirishima knows it too...
But the horned goofs seem to be having a blast running by the shore, taunting and jumping on their way to the distant structure in the horizon that you assume is the gazebo.

"Yeah. Sure seems that way." You answer with a smile, staying put and letting him inch closer.
>"Think you can catch me?" Kaminari says when he gets close enough.
As his hand reaches up, you take a step closer to him and sidestep his arm, nabbing his sunglasses.
"Easily." You say, putting them on and giving him your well practiced cocky smile. "But can you?"

You wait to see his smile disappear for a few seconds, replaced by surprise for an instant before it comes back as a smirk. Then you bolt.

Dashing by the shore, your boots keep digging deep into the wet sand, spraying water and sand behind you as you follow your friends' trail.
You have no shame admitting the beach park it's beautiful, with its crystal clear waves and fine white sand.

"Come on hoss!" You turn your head and taunt him a bit, pulling down your eyelid and sticking out your tongue. You quickly stop that after getting a tongue full of sand. Nasty stuff.
>>
[red]How you don't even make it to the gazebo however, that is shameful.

Maybe it's just what happens when you try laughing and running, or maybe it's the sand itself draining your stamina faster than you expected, but the hurtful truth is that you start stumbling forwards three fourths of the way to the gazebo, as your boots dig one hole after another your ebbing energy can barely pull you out of.

Looking back to your date and fellow blonde…
He's actually doing better than you.

The boy's wider shoes plus his rather sensible decisions to pace himself and running on more compact sand seem to let him close the distance without nearly as much sweating as you had to get that distance in the first place.

>"Careful with the backpack!" You hear Kirishima say.
>"Got it!" Mina replies."Nice and dry!"

Why wouldn't it be dr-?

You just get to ponder that for a second before you finish running over a small dune and discover the reason.

Turns out the other side of the small dune is a small but almost straight drop into a shallow pool of seawater and teenagers, as Mina lays flat on her back in the water, an arm raised straight up with Kirishima's backpack, keeping it out of the water.

The redhead himself stands perpendicularly over his friend, with his hands and knees in the water.

Having seen it, it should have been easy to stop yourself from following suit.
Yet your knees give at the last second, causing you join the horn soup below.[/red]

"Ow..." You say, not sure if falling on Kirishima's back makes you lucky or not, as you avoid having to make any kind of excuse for a wet shirt, but it feels like the sand would have been way softer.
>"Damn. Are you okay?" Kaminari asks an instant later, from the top of the small dune. "How's everyone feelin'?
>"Water's pretty fresh!" Mina answers from the bottom of the pile and inside the pool, then shakes the backpack a little. "It's getting kinda hard to breathe though… But dinner's fine!"
>"Lucky." Kirishima answers between you and Mina.
"'yuup! A bit dirty but okay!" You tell him, catching your breath and propping your head up with your arm. "Kind of a hard landing though."
>"Talking about hard..." Mina says. "Ei, you have five seconds to move before this gets more awkward than funny…"
>"Here, let me help you up." Kaminari says, extending his arm and reaching for you.

You reach up with your own and grab his hand, letting him lift you up and out of the admittedly.shallow hole. "...Huh. You are pretty light."
"Hardwood does a better job at being bones than bones for a fraction of the weight." You explain as you regain your footing. "A bit bendy-er though."

Then you take off the sunglasses.

"Fair is fair, I believe these are yours." You tell him, folding them and placing them in his shirt pocket. "Ah didn't make it quite as far as I expected..."
>"Eh. Wouldn't have mattered anyway." He says, putting his sunglasses on and looking at the horizon. "Place's packed."
>>
You tip your hat to use it for its intended purpose, the brim's shade letting you squint towards the glittering sea and the not so distant gazebo. There's, in fact, a couple… couples in there.

"Well… What now?" You ask him. "Doesn't that put a damper on plans..?"
>"I'll…" He says looking around and scratching his chin. "Uh… Figure something out."
>"Two steps ahead of you!" Kirishima says, snapping his fingers.
>"Yeah?" Kaminari asks.

You, however, just look down the hole.
Turns out that after a bit of shuffling, Mina and Kirishima are comfortably sitting on the edge of the shallow pool, dipping their feet in and letting their shoes and socks dry under the sun.

>"The view here's pretty nice too." Mina comments. "Water, sand and the nice view… Pretty much everything the beach is for."
"Sounds good to me." You say, carefully climbing down the hole to avoid blowing sand on your friends. "...As long as the dinner still stands."
>"Why wouldn't it?" Kaminari asks,
"Then get here!" You tell him, right before you grab him by the leg, shrink him, lower him to the hole and restoring him in a couple of seconds.
>"Huh." Kaminari says, then chuckles. "Feels odd. Kinda familiar though."
"Most just think it's dizzying." You comment, then take a 'seat' next to Mina. "Now someone hand me that burger, I'm starving."
>"Already?" Mina asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Sort of?" It was an expression, but you are regretting not bringing some cornbread.
>"Eh. Good appetite, I can dig it." Kirishima says with a clap. "Now let's dig in!"

Just as planned, a still warm burger becomes a holy pizza sized sandwich under your fingers, letting everyone gorge themselves.

Kaminari seems to try to eat neatly, while Kirishima just makes a token attempt.
Mina drowns her slice under enough sauces than even you can't recognize the poor burger beneath.
It looks a frying shy from the shadiest carnival food you've ever seen. You are pretty sure the bread dissolved.

You just wolf down your piece without major ceremony.
It's pretty good! Nothing spectacular but you would have a few more if you happen to be near the joint in the future.

There's a bit more small talk over the meal, as you and Kaminari try to ignore the sand getting into your sandwiches. Kirishima's teeth and quirk let him just grind through the sand like nothing, while Mina… You guess she dissolves it? Hard to know.

Even if you thought it was a slog some time ago, you have to admit this feels good. In a nice and quiet kinda way, sharing small anecdotes from the past with your date and pals.

You also have to admit that it makes sense that no one could control their quirks perfectly at the start, but you didn't think about the fuck ups themselves.

>"I have an entire drawer of fried electronics." Kaminari comments. "It took me awhile to get that you don't just fill stuff with electricity and expect it to work. But I got it down pat now"
>>
>"See this scar?" Kirishima says pointing at his eyebrow. "Imagine going to take a leak and suddenly having knives for fingers."
"...That could have gone way worse, then." You point out.

Both of the boys take a second to process it, but their winces make it obvious that they do get it.

>"Yeah…" The redhead says. "...I kinda appreciate the tiny scar now."
"Small blessings." You say, nodding. "A bit lower and you could have lost your eye."
>"...Or that." Kaminari says, shaking his head. "Nevermind. How about you?"
"I once took a nap in the barn." You start, wiggling your fingers. "Bad dream, it was. I woke up when the walls bursted around me. I still feel silly about that. How about you, Mina?"
>"Nothing that funny or impressive." She says, shrugging. "Melted off my clothes a few times, no big deal."

As the dying sun tints the sea orange and everyone's clothes are dry and dusted off, you exit the beach park by its main entrance, leaving most of the beach behind. Some of it is coming with you inside your boots.

>"I guess this is goodbye?" Kaminari asks. "I think it went well enough… Think we could do it again someday?"

Out of the corner of your eye you see your friends bumping fists behind him.

It was a group date, and there was no… confession, was it? To tie you to anything…
You are under no obligation to entertain a second date.
...But you kind of want to.

He didn't quite sweep you off your feet today, but damn if he didn't try.
Not the most handsome guy in class, but he's still quite a looker.
And he may not be the smartest either...
But he tries.
An honest to god attempt to get to know what goes on inside your head and heart…
It goes a long way towards being whats there.
Good looking, charming and brave…

Weren't you doing something?
Fuck, you gotta answer!

"Sure!" You say with a smile. "...I'd like that."

You know this may lead nowhere, so you don't get closer, nor hug him.
It seems like a good idea, steeling your heart for now. You wouldn't want to give too much rope so fast, or both of you may end sporting matching nooses.
Metaphorically, of course.

That's not to say you don't give anything, however.

>"Great!" He says, grinning from ear to ear. "See you tomorrow everyone!"
>"Till tomorrow man!" Kirishima says.
>"Don't fall asleep on the train!" Mina adds. "Or set an alarm, that works too!"

As the blonde waves and turns away, you say your own farewell.

"See ya tomorrow Denki!" You say, waving at him when he turns his head to look at you.

You'd swear he went away with some extra bounce on his step.
You giggle a bit at that.

>"...eeeee…" Mina squeals again.
>"C'mon Pinks, cut it out." Kirishima says, bopping her lightly over the head. "You are making this weird."
>"Cut me some slack..." She says, sounding like she did this morning, moppy and a bit sad. "I've spent most of last trimester training and studying for the entrance exam, and I know I'll have to do the same to stay in U.A.! Backseat romance is the best I'll get in months! Maybe years!"
"What about you two?" You ask them. "Don't you have to catch a train?"
>"Nah." Mina waves you off. "We are locals! We can afford to wander around late."
>"Actually, I need to get going." Kirishima says, scratching the back of his neck. "With classes tomorrow and with, well, literally everything that's happened so far this week, I'd like to show up fresh."
>"Party pooper." Mina says with a pout.
"He's not wrong…" You say, remembering showing up tired to school yesterday and how did that pan out "I too wanna hit the hay soon."
>"Traitor!" Mina says, pointing at you with her finger, an inch from the bridge of your nose and making you go cross eyed. "You too fell to the promises of a healthy sleep schedule!"
"Ye what now?" You ask, shaking your head and straightening your vision again.
>"Ignore her, she's being silly." Kirishima tells you.
"...Isn't she always?" You ask him, tilting your head sideways.
>"Heard that?" Kirishima asks, chuckling. "Less than a week and she already knows you!"
>"Shut up." Mina says, crossing her arms and frowning.

It's clear that she's not really upset, as she can't help but smirk.

"Well, I kind of want to get home before Momma starts a-callin'" You tell them, throwing an arm around each of their necks, giving both of them a quick hug. "See ya'll tomorrow!"

After a few seconds of waving, you are on your way back to the house, hopping and skipping through the city, a small flutter in your heart and a song in your lips. They aren't related, but it's a nice song.

In less than an hour you are back in front of the door, starting to consider that it's more of an earworm than you realized.

"...O-P Sparkle S-T-E-P~" You mutter as you fumble a bit with your keys, wondering if it wouldn't be easier to just shrink and go below the thing.

You don't get to actually open the door though, as your phone starts ringing, letting you know that Momma is already getting worried.

Considering your phone's screen says it's 22:34 PM, you can't actually blame her.
But as the sound of hooves rapidly approaches from the other side of the tall door, you take a deep breath and prepare for the inevitable.

A couple of seconds later, the door opens, revealing to you the relieved smile of your mother.
The next second, you are being hugged by her in what anyone else would have to describe as bone crushing hug.

Her hug threatens to squeeze the air out of your lungs, and is one of three big reasons for you to try not exhaling, but you already know how this goes.
You hang on and survive the smothering as she lets it out of her system.
>"Darn it hun!" She says, putting you down. "I was starting to fear the worst!"
"The sun set like forty minutes ago, tops." You say, "And I was on my way here anyway! You didn't have to!"
>"Worrying for you is sort of my job." She says, stepping out of the doorway and letting you enter the house. "You know what happens now, right?"
"I take a shower and go to bed?" You answer unsure.
>"That... too." She admits. "But I meant the tale! Tell me everything!"

It's not something you even thing about. It's Momma, you can tell her everything!
So you sing like a birdie, telling her everything by the kotatsu.

>"Ara ara~" She says, covering her mouth. "They think I'm hot? Flattering, if a tiny bit creepy."
"That's what you got out of it?" You ask her, a bit sceptical.
>"Cute and charming fella survived your tirade and threw a few nice words your way." She recapitulates. "You frolicked on the beach, stayed dry and clothed and accepted a second group date. Am I wrong?"
"That's one way to kill the magic of the whole ordeal." You comment.
>"You got a nice day and returned as whole as you left." She says. "Just for that it's a great day for me. The confidence booster was just a bonus."
"Yeah…" You let the word drag. "It was a nice day."

Yet it came to an end, as you let yourself crash into bed after a warm shower.

You wake up refreshed.
Ready to take on the world once more!

So after a nice breakfast, with an energetic farewell to your mother and a piece of cornbread in your pocket, you leave early for the train station, boarding the first one in U.A's direction you can find.

You'll have to deal with a few things you'd rather not, but burying your head in the sand would do you no good.

Besides, you like school and your classmates anyway.
Like Iida over there, who's sitting right by the one of the train's doors, flipping through a notebook like last time. This time though, you can see a reason why. There's actually been some classes followed by a gap this time.

Do both. Sit by him, ask him how his day was, and ask to compare some notes for review, since that usually goes better when studying with someone. Dude's got to be pretty meticulous with taking em.

"Howdy!" You say tipping your hat and plopping into a seat by his side. "Gettin' ready for another eventful day at school?"
>"Ah, Vice President! I see you too aim for an early arrival. I was just trying to figure something out." The bespectacled boy says with a smile that looks just a bit too wide, snapping his notebook shut with his left hand and pointing at his watch with his right before pointing at you with both. "And… well, it's good to see you back on your feet."
"Having a nice day off can do wonders for you." You say, setting your backpack on your lap and digging up your literature notebook. "And don't pack up just yet, think we can compare notes? I'm not the best at note taking."

You flip your notebook open and flip it forwards…
Then the japanese forwards, until you reach your notes on the first work Cementoss has you analyzing, and though you could probably probably make sense out of it if you dedicate some time to reading and pondering on it, you've read this kinda thing usually goes better when studying with someone else.

>"Sure!" He says, opening his notebook with his thumb. "May I see yours?"
"Suit yourself." You tell him, offering your notebook and taking his.

Looking at his notes, you need a few seconds to make sure it's a notebook and not a printed work, as his black lines are far too straight to look natural.
If not for his underlining and 'sidebars' you wouldn't have known he wrote it himself, as it looks more like an annotated transcription of everything Cementoss said.

It's diametrically opposed to your own, using using multiple colors and oversized characters to make sure the important parts are properly indicated. It makes for a great tool to help you understand and link concepts, but it's been proving rather crappy at helping memorize whole narratives, which seems to be important in literature in general.

Still, as boring as his notes look, you can gleam some insight out of it.
You have to get this into your notebook while it's still fresh!

You put down his notebook and look at him, intent on swapping notebooks again and exchanging feedback.

He's still squinting at the first page you showed him.
>>
"...Can't make head nor tail outta it?" You ask him. "'s okay, I'm a bit messy."
>"I suppose you are right. I just can't seem to follow your train of thought as you wrote this." He says, showing you the page and motioning with his free hand at the middle of the page. "Not unlike the second part of the book."
"The lists gave you trouble?" You ask him, taking your notebook and biting off the cap of a light blue pen. "You seem to have a good grasp of the entire book sugar, so let's hammer out whatever kinks are bothering you."
>"Not only the lists, Walker, but the overarching narrative as well." He says, holding his chin. "Tensei said he'd explain it to me this evening if I still needed help by then."
"Tensei…" You almost drive your wrist into your brain at that name drop. "Iida Tenya, Iida Tensei, Team Idaten… I can't believe I didn't make the connection!"
>"I thought you had." Iida has a good chuckle at your expense there.
"So… Is Ingenium, like, your cousin or something?" You ask him, flipping through your notebook for something you explain.
>"Older brother, actually." He says. "Do you have any idea as to how the author ordered her memories?"
"In a vague chronological order, each snippet stands on its own and some even take place within other stories." You explain, half recalling from memory and half reading from your messy notebook. "Older sibling? Must be nice to have someone watch over you."
>"It is. He's the best, always been there for me… Suffice to say, I'm already in highschool and he's still offering to help me study!" Iida tells you. "...And I guess that makes sense, if you see her work as small memories with no intentional order, each can stand on its own, as biased as they all are..."
"Atta boy! Now you get it!" You cheer. "It is, after all, the private diary of an heroine. The whole idea is to see what a first gen hero's world looked like, unfiltered!.. I think."

You snap your notebook closed and shrug.

"At least, that's my take on it. I ain't no lit. teacher." You finish, slumping back on your seat.
>"I believe you are right." He says, adding a new page long sidebar on the margin of one of his notebook's pages before closing it.
"So, think you can tell me what did'ya do yesterday?" You ask him when he's done, turning to face him.
>"..." He seems to think about it for a second "Mostly training and talking with Tensei."
The closest you've ever had to a sibling is cousin Chloe, and she's a bully, so you have some genuine curiosity about this.
"Talking? What about?" You ask, leaning on him.

>"..." He takes a deep breath before turning to you and asking with his eyes closed. "I-like-you-can-we-start-seeing-each-other?

It takes you a tad to process the run-on sentence, but you smile when you get it.

"Ah knew you had it in you!" You say, throwing an arm over his shoulder and pulling him in for a quick hug. "A bit by the numbers and try to breathe a bit more and… Oh! Open your eyes when you tell her, other than that you got it down pat!"

After you say that and let him go, he just stares straight forward for a couple of minutes, before opening his backpack and shoving his head in.

"You okay in there, Iida?" You ask, using your hat to fan the air, as his whole body vibrates and white smoke starts pouring out the legs of his pants. "...You better cut that out though, or you'll get us both kicked off."

A few seconds later, he pulls himself back together and fixes his hair and glasses.

>"I'm… Fine." He says with a smile. "Just fine."

It's a fairly standard train ride after that, nothing but waiting for the train to reach your stop.
It's a short wait, so in a few minutes both of you are walking to the school

You take a minute to stand under the arch of U.A.'s gate.
It look as awe inspiring today as it did last month, when you saw them for the first time.

With your spirits high, you stride into the still mostly empty school, being the first students in classroom 1-A.

Normally, you'd let everyone take their seats and wait for Homeroom as they pleased, as long as they didn't break any rules, but…

"Alright y'all!" You call the class' attention standing next to Momo in front of the teacher's desk, after waiting for most of them to show up. "As y'all know, Mr. Aizawa was terribly hurt fighting villains a couple days ago."
>"Do you know who's going to replace him today? Kero." Tsu asks.
>"We received no such information." Momo answers. "But Walker assures me Mr. Aizawa will conduct classes despite his injuries."
"So, please, let's make an extra effort to behave." You plead. "Let's avoid making things harder for him. That's all."

You receive mostly respectful nods, even a janky one from Daisy.
So both of you go back to your seats and wait with the rest of the class for the bandaged man to show up.
>>
Once again, it's a wait of only a few minutes.

>"Morning." Mr. Aizawa says as he enters the classroom.
>"Teacher, shouldn't you be resting?!" Iida asks, as the pro hero shambles to his desk.
"Yeah!" You say, feeling a tiny bit hypocritical.
>"You should be thinking about yourselves." The teacher says. "After all, the battle hasn't really ended for you yet."

There's some asking and shouting and even some yelling at that.
None of it comes from you, but you still feel like a bucket of cold water was dumped on your back.

>"U.A.'s Sports Festival is approaching, boys and girls." He says, and you'd swear he's glaring at everyone and no one at the same time.
>"...One can forget that this is after all, a school." Momo comments next to you, and you can only nod, keeping your breath in check.

That was…
An unnecessarily mean fake out, to be honest.
That doesn't mean that you get what the hell is he talking about, but if there's something life has taught you, is that people usually explain themselves if you let them do so.

So you stay still and wait for your classmates to shut up and let the teacher speak.

>"Doesn't that sound like the kind of thing villains would try infiltrate?!" Mineta asks, desperately flailing his arm in an attempt to make Mr. Aizawa notice him.
>"Is it wise to proceed with such an event?" Shoji asks calmly. "The media has been downright vicious with U.A. after the attack…"

>"I'll assure you right now that that's not been overlooked." Mr. Aizawa explains. "The festival will serve a second purpose as a way to show the public that the school is capable of adapting to any crisis. For example, this year's police presence will be increased fivefold."

You have to wonder, what will the police do if someone like Nomu where to show up?
It'd be a bloodbath.
Yet, this time, waiting answers that question.

>"That's not counting the presence of some of the country's best heroes in the audience and the contingent that will be hired to act as security." The teacher explains. "And that brings us to the main purpose of the event. Think about the huge chance this represents for you all."

>"We will not be intimidated by villains." Mr. Aizawa finishes. "The festival won't be stopped."
>"Actually, if any villain does show, can we stop it?" Mineta asks, starting to disappear under the edge of his desk. "It's just an athletics festival…"

>"Mineta… Have never seen it!?" Deku asks.
>"No! I mean… Totally, that's not it…" Mineta tries to explain himself.
"I haven't." You say, leaning towards the class president. "I have no idea what that is nor what is going on. What's the big fuzz all about?"

And the classroom goes dead silent.

"What?" You ask raising your arms, not cowed by the sudden staring. "Other end of the planet, anyone?"

>"Oh, yeah."
>"I guess that makes sense."
>"National T.V. is sort of… national."

>"Our sports festival is one of Japan's biggest events!!" Mr. Aizawa explains, raising from his seat. "Long ago, this nation used to foam with enthusiasm at the sports event known as the 'Olympics'... But it never recovered the clout it once had after the advent of quirks. Now the people of Japan rallies each day for U.A's Sports Festival!"

>"It's because of all the pro heroes watching!" Momo explains. "All of them , scouting for young talent for their offices!"
>"Some heroes start as sidekicks before starting their own offices!" Kaminari says, twisting over himself to look your way. "I think of going that way after graduating!"
>"Or you can end wasting away as a sidekick forever and never make a name of your own." Kyoka tells you, looking at you over her shoulder and pointing a thumb at Denki. "Like it'll probably happen to this guy."
>"Ouch."

Once again, unnecessary and mean.

>"Of course, working with a famous hero will get you both experience and and a higher status than anything you could get starting from scratch." Mr. Aizawa says, once again commandeering the attention of the whole class with his presence. "You'll only get this chance once a year… For a total of three chances. Don't waste them."

It's odd.
You can feel the excitement brewing within everyone, including yourself.
Yet there's no cheering or hollering this time, but quiet anticipation.
Everyone must be thinking about their futures…
Will Ryukyu be there? Any of the other top ten?
A chance to shine and show off your own skill and power for the whole country to see…
It is great news!
But it'll take a while to sink in and let the excitement overcome the gravitas of it all.

>"With that addressed, let's continue with Homeroom. Class President and Vice-President, proceed with your duties." The teaches says, and both of you comply.

It's simple stuff, really.
Taking attendance, announcing who is cleaning the classroom today after class and reminding everyone that Hound Dog's door is open to all who might want to talk.

>"Walker, accompany me to the hallway, please." Mr. Aizawa calls for you as he leaves at the end of Homeroom.

You nod and follow the teacher, being aware of the curious stares at the back of your head.

>"Have you decided what will you do about Bokusa?" He asks you, just outside the classroom's door.
"Actually, yeah. I have." You tell him, rubbing your arm. "I'll do it…"
>"But?" He asks, noticing your tone.
"Just two teensy tiny things..." You say, taking a deep breath. "Can it be today… and can you come with me? Please?"
>"... Of course. Did you ever think I'd let you go alone?" He says. "You are under my care, all of you. Don't ever forget it. Why today though?"
"...It's my birthday tomorrow." You tell him, thinking back to the two things on your calendar for this saturday.
>"Well then…" He says, starting to walk away. "I just hope you are still in the mood after this afternoon's idiocy."
"What?"
>"Head back into the classroom, Walker." He tells you, leaving. "There's still some classes to go through before the weekend is here."

The days classes are almost normal.
Almost.
As the day grew older, the excitement starts cutting the tension and no one can fully contain it, as even Momo tells you during modern literature her hopes of being scouted by a famous rescue or disaster relief hero.

When lunch break starts and Cementoss leaves the classroom, it's like someone pulled the pin off a grenade, as everyone practically jumps off their seats.
>>
>"I knew it was coming…" Kirishima says, clenching his fists and grinning from ear to ear. "But right now!? I feel like the tension is flying sky high!!! C'mon everybody! If we make an effort and stand out to the pros, we'll be a whole league closer to being heroes!"
>"Kirishima really has fire in his veins." Momo says, packing up her notebook and pencil case. "I'm excited too, but he shouts it to the heavens."
"Yeah. Some people are just unstoppable, I guess. " You say reply, tidying up your own desk. "One hundred and ten percent, all the time, from the cradle to the grave."

>"Nah, he's a cool dude, but the other guys feel like they hold themselves back when I sit with them." She explains. "Except maybe Sero. He just says whatever he thinks."
>"I wonder what will Lunch Rush have today?" Momo wonders out loud, walking next to you.
"Rice and something else." You answer, before catching sight of Uraraka's face.
You've seen her sad, worried and most of all, happy.
This is something new. Certainly intense.
It looks really out of place.

>"What's up with her?" Mina asks. "That's pretty non Uraraka for Uraraka"
>"Maybe it's PM-" Mineta says, before being interrupted by a rather impressive backwards tongue slap from Tsu. She wasn't even looking in his direction!

>"EVERYONE!! I'M!! GONNA!! DO MY BEST!!" Uraraka shouts, pumping up a fist while standing in a wide stance.

>"WOOOOOO!!!" Kirishima says, throwing his fist up like most of the classroom. "But, you are like… getting seriously out of character here."
"THAT'S THE SPIRIT!" You shout too, throwing both fists up with a little jump, in a soft imitation of a cheerleader. "But really though, your face is getting kind of scary."

>"I'M GONNA DO MY BEST!!!!!" She says, marching off the door with Deku and Iida trailing her.

That's just... 'Huh'.

You look at Mina, Momo and Tsu… and Mineta nearby and shrug.
The three girls just repeat the gesture, while the small guy does the same plus rubbing his cheek.

It takes you all a fair bit to reach the mess hall today, as it seems that everyone in the way stopped to look at you for as long as possible before actually moving out of the way.

Getting there, you find the usual lines, with Iida and Uraraka talking, and Shoto… Frowning?

>What do you do?

Normally you'd spend this time with your friends of class 1-B, but if Shoto is feeling visible annoyance or anger, something must be up.

It's a shame to ditch any of your friends, but the rest of them have longer support networks.
Starting with each other.
Shoto…
At school, you are the only one he speaks to willingly, and you can't say with a straight face that he gets much support from home.
Maybe his sister, but that is just you assuming the best.

Once you get your two servings of gyudon, you go bother Shoto at his dimly lit table.
It's a thing of wonder, how it is next to a window on a nice spring day yet barely any sunlight seems to reach it.

"Howdy!" You greet him, taking the seat in front of his. "Something brewing inside that pretty head of yours?"
>"Hi." He returns the greeting. "I think so. I am fairly sure I am beginning to piece something together."
"Anything you care to share, sugar?" You ask him, trying to get the spork to boths stab the beef and scoop a bit of sauce.
>"It is about Midoriya." He says, stirring his own bowl. "Mostly about his quirk."
"Everything shattering strength. Mighty impressive." You reply.

>"Mighty indeed." He says nodding. "Asui noted it on the bus, if I recall correctly."
"Tsu says many things, all of them true." You say, nodding as well. "Whatcha getting at?"
>"I believe Midoriya is related to All Might." Shoto says, stabbing a thin slice of beef and bringing it to his mouth.
"What." You state, tilting your head in confusion.
>"He was called by All Might himself not too long ago to eat lunch together." He says, carefully cleaning his mouth with a napkin.
"Tho?" You ask, having given up and resorted to drinking the sauce from the bowl.
>"Adding in the quirk similarity and the seemingly close relationship between those two, I am fairly convinced Midoriya is All Might's secret illegitimate son." He answers softly, handing you a napkin.
"...No way." You say. You don't want to believe it, but it'd make sense… Far too much sense, considering how quirks are inherited.
>"... Do you not believe me?" He asks you, looking at you straight in the eyes.
"Of course I do, silly!" You answer with a smile. "Why would you lie to me? It's just a shock… A child out of wedlock? From All Might of all people?"
>"He may be the best hero, but he is still a man." He explains. "Men fail."
"Girls are better, news at eleven." You joke, scraping the bottom of your first bowl. "Now what? It's valuable info."
>"Nothing for now." He says, then looks at the window for a minute, allowing you to drink your second bowl. "But I plan on confronting him later."

>"So I must ask you to not speak about it, to anyone." He asks of you. "Promise?"
"I can do better." You say, taking a deep breath.

"<Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.>" You recite, crossing a hand over your chest and feigning poking your eye. "<A secret's a secret and my word is forever, I will tell no one about your cruel... treasure.>"

...The original rhyme might have soured the mood.

>"Thank you." He says, nodding.
"No problem. Just try to not make it bad for them when you do… You know." You say, rocking backwards on the chair.
>"I would like to have you by my side then, if you aren't busy." He says.
"Sure, why not." You say, then joke. "When one of us brings Deku to tears, the other can tell him it wasn't on purpose!"

>"While we are here, there are two more things I should tell you." He suddenly says.
"Shoot." You reply, tipping your hat and pointing a finger gun at him
>"First, Father says that you are to come to train on mondays, starting this coming week." He says, counting four with his fingers, then three. "Second… Yesterday I acquired a 'Hero Network’s All Star Team Brawl' arcade cabinet. With its three exclamation marks."
"Awesome!" You'd question it… But he's rich enough for it to make sense. "Why though?"
>"If you are going to be there anyway, might as well get some fun out of it." He says, shrugging.
>>
Everything after that is just meaningless chit chat, along with some small things you manage to pry about his family, but it's agreeable and nice.
It's great to know that Fuyumi, his sister, is in fact a good person, if a bit skittish.
Thanks to the existence of quirks, elementary teachers are one of the professions you respect the most. It takes special people to turn superpowered kids into good people.

After some more staring on the way back to Classroom 1-A, and the class itself, you survive another day of theory before practical training rears its eventful head once more.

>"Hello." Mr. Aizawa says, entering the classroom once more, giving you a wicked deja vu. "I hope you didn't think that just because you were attacked by villains you were except from rescue training. Get your suits on. Or not. We are taking the bus in fifteen."

>"What about All Might?" Deku asks.
>"...He'll meet us there, along with No. 13." The teacher says after sighing.

There they go again, the red flags waving in your head.
And apparently in everyone else too, as only Daisy has risen from his desk to collect his suitcase.

Well… This is kind of your job now...

"WHEEEEEEEEEeeee..." You blow on your whistle and point at Momo. You love this thing.

>"Alright everybody! We have to be ready and in the buses to USJ in fifteen minutes, so let's get moving!" Momo says standing up.

People stand up and move, but they are wary.
You can't blame them, you are too.
Last visit to the USJ wasn't exactly fun.
But you have to try.
This place isn't the same without the excitement that used to accompany every new thing.

"WHEEEEEEEeeee..." You call everyone's attention. "We are going out to practice rescues not battles, and the security should be tighter this time. Lose the long faces! There are not going to be any villain attacks today, right Mr. Aizawa?"

>"..." He just keeps looking over the class, not answering.

Even your own energy leaves you at that.

So you pull your suitcase from the wall and drag it to the changing room.
...If you needed another reason to feel miserable right now, your shirt, hat and jacket aren't there, so you'll have to wear the gym uniform from the waist up.
At least you have most of your gear from last time.
You really need to find someone to patch Tin up. Maybe Power Loader?
Still...

Fucking lovely.

"wheeee..." You whistle feebly near the bus. "Y'all know what to do. Do it..."
>"Yes, please." Momo adds her half quarter of a cent. "Just… No surprises."

What a fucking joyride this'll be.
At least your seat is next to Momo, Toru and Shoto...

The silence during the bus ride seemed to bother even Mr. Aizawa.
>"I knew this was a bad idea…" He muttered.

And you agree, maybe wait a week before returning here?..
But you stay silent out of respect and a general lack of will to actually try to be a bother.

Just for a while though.
It's rather maddening.
If you wanted to live this you would have stayed in Texas.
So you try to cut the tense air.

"Yo, Toru." You call the attention of the seemingly empty seat with a pair of dancing shoes and twiddling gloves before asking. "How ya doin'?"
>"Uh?.. Oh! I'm okay now, but thanks for asking!" She says… right before sneezing hard. "...Mostly fine."
>"Here." Momo says, handing her a handkie. "Are really okay?"
>"Yeah, don't worry. Nothing hurts anymore." The invisible girl says, hugging herself. "I can deal with a runny nose!"
>"...I apologize." Shoto suddenly says. "I failed to properly assess the situation."
>"Nah…" She waves him off. "I made the wrong call. I should have tried to regroup with you instead of ditching you."
>"It was a chaotic situation." Momo comments. "We all did our best with one day of training and what we learned home."
"Aren't y'all a bucket of smiles." You comment, looking at all the moping around you. "Enough about the past, whatcha gonna do about the festival, Toru?"
>"The festival…" She says, as one of her gloves taps where you think her chin is. "The festival is my chance to show the world I'm here!"
>"Sounds… Challenging." Momo replies, minding her words.

>"That just means I got to work harder!" Her white gloves bounce up and down as she chants. "Hya! Hya! Hyah-choo… -sniff- I have two weeks to work out and be the best at… Whatever we do at the festival!"
"That's the idea!" You tell her, extending your fist and waiting for her to bump it. You wouldn't want to punch her by accident.
>"Dunno about you, but I'm not letting wednesday's attack keeping me down!" She says, her gloves bouncing up and down before bumping your fist. "Today, I'll rescue everyone! In two weeks I'll get the gold! And if I can't get them, I'll show everyone how close as I can get!"
"Shooting for the moon, I like it." You ask. "Can't say I know your build or what the heck we'll be doing on the festival, but you gonna have to kick it into high gear."
>"I will." She affirms. "... I wonder though… What will it be this year?"
>"A race, a team game and a fighting tournament, if the pattern holds." Momo asserts. "I don't think I can forget quirk-dodgeball."
>"The first time in years that a student from the support course gets the lead in the scoreboard and he forfeits…" Shoto says. "Some people like wasting opportunities."

And with some cheering, the three of you start chatting, discussing what could the events be, how to train and what will you do today, all with Toru interjecting whenever the conversation wandered off to dark places and keeping everyone spirit's high. Even Shoto commented once or twice. The conversation even spills out, as Sero starts talking about the same to Kirishima, and soon most of the bus feels like it's full of high schoolers again.

For someone who doesn't 'have' a face, Toru is certainly charismatic.[/green]

Once you arrive at the site you'd probably would have seen in your nightmares if you had at least a couple of nights more to get any kind of dream, you are received by No. 13 and…

No one else.

Once again, All Might isn't here.

You are pretty sure the red flags in your head right now are waving in some sort of code.

>"Well! That happened!" No. 13 say, waving as you enter the Joint. "But classes are classes! So let's get to the rescue training."
>"Uhm… 13… " Uraraka asks worriedly. "...Can you even move?"
>"My back is still bandaged and hurts when I move, bit it's nothing compared to Mr. Aizawa!" The fully suited hero says, spinning and motioning to your homeroom teacher.
>"We are ready to start, so let's get to it. We are wasting our time." He says, walking towards the plaza.
>"Mr. Aizawa?" Deku calls the teacher. "Isn't All Might supposed to meet us here as well? Where is he?"
>"...Dunno." Mr. Aizawa says without turning back. "Forget about that man."

Whatever happened between those two, you don't know.
What you do know, is that you'd like for All Might to be here.

>"...Well then!" No. 13 says, motioning for you to follow. "Let's start some real rescue training!"
Still, even if a bit of unease returns after your nice time in the bus, you all star following No. 13 to the Mountain Zone, heads held high and hoping for the best.

First off, nothing happens the instant you cross the plaza, and there's rescue equipment ready near the ravine!

Maybe you'll actually get to do some rescue training this time!

>"Alright! Let's start" No. 13 says standing on the edge of the ravine. "Three of you will play the part of rescuees at the bottom. One unconscious, one with a broken leg, and the third is okay but terribly worried."

>"WOAH!" Kirishima says, peeking into the abyss."This thing is deep!"
>"How are we supposed to get there!?" Denki asks besides Kirishima.
>"Kirishima! Kaminari! What are you saying!?" Iida reprimands them...before starting to shout down the ravine. "Don't worry! We'll get you out! The heroes are here!"

"Is there anyone there, teacher?" You ask 13, huddling close to the teacher as Mr. Aizawa joins the group again.
>"No one at all!" No. 13 answers whispering and shrugging. "But I have to commend his dedication!"
"Who is it going to be down there?" You ask once more. "Is there a list or something?"
>"Nah, just whoever I want." The teacher says with a small shrug.
>>
>"Let's do it! Let's save them, Deku!" Uraraka says, cheering in front of the green haired boy, who looks away before adopting a determined stance and a confident smile.

>"Those three will do!" No. 13 whispers before announcing it. "And the injured will be those three!"

If your spirits hadn't been lifted back on the bus, they certainly would be now, seeing the completely flat expressions on their faces.

>"...Let's get the best injuries this school has seen!" Iida says, being the first to recover, marching towards a ladder.
>"Yeah!" Uraraka affirms, pumping a fist and falling in line.
>"Guys… You you know we only have to pretend, right?.. Guys?!" Dekus asks, running to catch up with his teammates.
>"Then you four will be the rescuers, Bakugo, Todoroki, Tokoyami and Yaoyorozu." Mr. Aizawa chooses."
>"...Why do I have to rescue Deku!?" Daisy asks.
"Because this OVA makes very little sense." You explain.
>"Hey now Walker, don't be like that!" Kirishima says. "...It'll only piss him off worse."
"Good."
>...and he'll drop the mountain on Midoriya." Kirishima whispers.
"He wouldn't." You say, finding yourself on the odd position where you are defending Daisy.
>"We just have to explode the mountain and we are done!" Daisy says, punching his palm. "After that, we just walk down and pick them up!"

The sound of your palm hitting your face is instantly followed by a similar but rocky one from the red head.
>"Told you." He says.

And so, after a marvelous display of bad acting, death threats, Shoto being pointed the face with enough firepower to bust a bunker and not flinching, and Momo showing why she's the boss, the team of three likeable people and Daisy managed to pull Deku and up to safety.

>"Next rescuees… You, you and you!" No. 13 says, pointing at Jiro, Kirishima and Tokoyami. "Unconscious, broken and panicky! In that order!"

>"...Really." Kirishima asks annoyed, then sights and smiles again. "Prepare to see the best damn broken leg. I've got practice!"
>"A nap. I can do that." Kyoka says, shrugging.
>"I can't act." Fumikage states.
>"Just do your best, it's not like you can over do it!" No. 13 tells him.
>"Oh, woe is me!" Fumikage shouts, throwing his fist up as a sign of rebellion to the heavens above. "To see what what I must see! Our company broken and miserable, mayhaps to be heard of nevermore!"

...What.

>"Hagakure, Kaminari, Sero and Walker." Mr. Aizawa names from memory. "Get to rescuing."

>"Alright!" Toru shouts with a little jump. "Let's get them off there before Tokoyami finishes a dramatic bunraku script!"
"Okay… That's specific." You start, making stock of what you have. A harness, more than enough rope and a fastened stretcher. "How do we do this?"
>"Well, I heard you did good on this last time." Sero says, keeping his cool helmet under his arm. "I thought you may know?"
>"That she did!" Denki says, smiling and giving you a thumbs up. "Probably the only person here, teachers notwithstanding, that knows more than one way to carry someone."

Maybe you can see an use for Sero's tape, and your quirk has many applications here, but what can Toru and Denki do here?..

>"You heard Momo, Ushi! We start by calming the victims!" Toru chides you, taking a second to cough before continuing.

By the position of her gloves and shoes, you think she's looking down the ravine.

>"Don't worry! The heroes are here!!" She shouts, her gloves making a bullhorn. "Stay strong and wait for us to come get you!!!"

...She can do that, it seems.

>"Make haste, make haste I implore you; for we shan't stay on this side of the grave for long!" You hear Tokoyami from the ravine, followed by Kirishima's roaring laughter.
>"I TOLD YOU I CAN'T DO THIS!!"

>What do you do?

Teamwork is great, and democracy is wonderful, but when lives are on the line somebody has to take charge. We'll just have to rely on the rest to be willing to speak up if they have a thought.

As long as we don't have to roll Face, we're set! Should we get small to make lowering easy/raising easy? Shrug.

You know it’s kind of weird Shoto jumps straight to Midorya being All-Might’s illegitimate child and not his, like, Nephew or Cousin. Those things would fit the quirk similarity and close relationship and what we know about All-Might’s character so far.

We should probably mention the possibility to Shoto.
>>
>>2235251
I say we should try to find an excuse go over at his house or something so we can meet his family before we ask him if he's all might's kid
>>
>>2235332
Why not just invite him to our birthday party? Or should we just invite the girls Kirishima, Shoto and Denki for it?
>>
>>2235333
might be able to get him to bring his parents if we ask his folks to come over as well but we could still probably use the party as a chance to ask if we could hang out at his house some time. Just could BS it as a study session or something and bring shoto along so we can snoop around to try and find clues to see if Deku really is all might's kid or not.
>>
>>2235336
Yeah, but what if Deku's mom cheated with All Might and his dad doesnt know?
Then its unlikely we find anything incriminating at his house or with his parents unless we start interrogating his mom.
We know its bot true OOC but it would be an explanation for a normal home life
>>
>>2235251
I figure it's just a symptom of being Endeavour's kid. When your dad is a scumbag, something mildly shady like a bastard son probably doesn't seem all that odd.
>>
>>2235803
My thoughts exactly, maybe Shoto is projecting some of his problems on Deku and that fuels his confirmation bias.
>>
>>2236188
I'm pretty sure that's exactly how it went in the manga.

We still need to decide, Midnight or Ryukyu for internship?
>>
>>2239087
Midnight works at the school, so I'm unsure if she can have an intern.

Even given the choices, I'd prefer Edgeshot. He has an ability that lets him change himself in a manner more similar to Ushi's than Ryukyu. Assuming they want us as interns after our performance.
>>
>>2239087
Ryukyu, there is a reason why Midnight is called the +18 heroine. I think we cab only get a legal intership with her when we are a bit more old.
>>
>>2239102
Which makes Endeavor trainning even more usefull. This two weeks we will get trainning with him and Shoto as well as our classes in the Tiger's Den Dojo.

I'm still kinda mad that our injuries made us miss one of our classes with Spring tiger.

"Good work, Toru." You compliment the invisible girl.
>"Thanks!" She replies.
"Okay, this is what we'll do." You start, looking down the ravine. It's pretty deep, but you go full size and stretch your arms, you should more or less reach the top… "Sero, how good are you at rappel?"
>"I was more or less born for it." He says, tapping his elbow. "I'm going down?"
>"I should go too!" Toru says. "It'll be just like the Battle Trial!"
>"...Yeah." Sero says, scratching the back of his neck and blushing, probably remembering the end of the battle.
"That's the plan, we'll need you there to reassure the victims." You point out, scratching your chin. "And to help me keep them steady as I lift them."
>"I don't think I can carry more than one person." Sero says. "... and this can't be good for my blood pressure."

You place your hand against your thigh and shrink yourself down to six inches once more, then do a tiny jump, tapping your boots' heels together in the air. "Ta-dah!"

>"...That takes care of that, I guess." Sero comments.
>"And what should I do?" Denki asks.
"You stay here sugar." You tell him looking up. "I'll need you to hand me the stretcher and splints when reach for them, to keep an eye on us and to help the victims when I get 'em up. I don't think I'll be able to pick them without seein' without squashing 'em so I'm trusting you this one."
>"Got it!" He says, giving you a smile and a thumbs up. "You can count on me."

You think back to the plan for a second and dig out your Swiss army knife, placing it on the ground and enlarging it until it's almost your size.

"You'll need that too, for the tape." You tell him, to which he nods and picks it up. "Don't try any tricks, you might cut yourself."
>"That's some confidence…" He says, then starts pulling out all the tools. "It has a fork!"

"...Alright people, let's get moving." You say throwing your arms up and getting picked up by a floating glove. "...And this damn disorienting. Hey, shouldn't I shrink you too?"
>"I'd rather avoid worrying about being stepped on." She says lifting you to what you assume must be face level and placing a hand on Sero's shoulder. "Downwards, Sero!"
>"You know, this is one of those things that are way more awkward than they look like." He says, crouching and letting Toru climb on him. "And I bet it looks pretty freaking weird."
>"It's not awkward at all unless you make it awkward." She replies. "Do you want to make something weird?"
>"I'm holding your thigh and I'm not feeling any fabric." He says, bouncing on his knees to accommodate his passengers. "Like, at all."
"...I reckon this can wait until we get the victims to safety." You say, pounding a fist on the gloved hand holding you.
>"Alright, grab onto something!" Sero says, folding an arm and shooting a strand of tape to the ground, jumping down the ravine.

At your current size, it looks way higher than it really is, but you don't say anything.
With Toru holding you, the closest thing to danger you are in is her unconstant grip.
...You are pretty sure she's just trying to get some sound out of you.
The other reason to not worry is Sero's skill.
His quirk may not have any obvious combat power, but he knows how to wield it.
He starts by quickly dispensing more than enough tape, accelerating until you are past the midway point and then losing speed slightly as he brought you down to the barely illuminated bottom of the ravine.

>"I do better on ascending and horizontal travel, but it wasn't too bad, wasn't it?" Sero asks, crouching again and letting Toru hop off.

>"Forsooth! Thou art here, at last; what joy! From above come heroes, looking down with sweet sympathy and fair fortune." You hear Fumikage say.

You find him kneeling between Kirishima and Jiro, with his left hand over his chest, forming a cage over his heart, and his right fully extended towards the fake sky that makes up the USJ's ceiling, looking like he's trying to grasp one of the few light beams reaching the depths.

>"Wake, rise and wake my fellows!" He continues, laying a hand on one of each of his fellow victims' shoulders. "We are wherefore to dwell on despair no more, but on the blissful certainty of brighter days!"

>"Man, I have no idea what you are saying anymore." Kirishima says, snickering. "But it sounds way more complicated than just acting normally."
>"It's about the effort." Fumikage defends himself. "Drama needs a minimum of effort, and I won't sully it by not trying, even if my attempts prove laughable."
>"At least he admits it." Kyoka says, laying on the ground.
>"No, no. I think he's got a point." Kirishima says, scratching his chin.

>"Aren't you supposed to be unconscious?" Toru asks Kyoka as you return to your standard size.
>"Bleh." Kyoka answers, closing her eyes and sticking her tongue out.

"Alright, Toru, do your thing and calm them when they remember they are afraid. Sero, uhm… Start looking at that leg, I guess." You say, stretching for a second before returning your hand to your side and starting to grow slowly. "I'll get the gear and bring it down, but you guys must do the small stuff."

>"You got it Ushi!" Toru says, circling Fumikage before clearing her throat. "Forsake your fretting! Forget this dark, dank and dreary defile you dwell in, for soon… the sunny skies shall smile your salutes!"
>"...What does that mean?" Fumikage asks her.
>>
>"I don't really know what to do without a splint." Sero says, then kneels and nudges Kirishima's leg with his hand. "Does this hurt?"
>"Not really, I fell on my other leg." Kirishima says through gritted teeth. "I didn't even want to see it.."
>"...does this hurt?" Sero asks again, poking his other leg.
>"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!" Kirishima screams, pounding his fist on the rock besides him. "..ah… A bit."
>"... I think it's broken." Sero says, pretending to look intently at Kirishima's actually-bent-in-a-possible-manner leg. "Well, get that patched up in a cinch, and on your way to the hospital in a minute. Don't worry, the doc's will get you back to… whatever you were doing when you fell down here in no time!"

...Considering not a single one of you had any actual training before this, it's an acceptable performance.

You have to wiggle a bit to fit your figure between the rock walls, but it only takes you a minute to reach your max size and… look at the wall in front of you.

You had predicted that one though, so you slowly hover your hand besides the wall, softly tapping with your finger every few meters, until you don't feel anything and lower your hand with the palm up
.
In a couple of seconds you feel the stretcher being dragged onto the palm of your hand and the rope and other supplies a tad later, then a few taps on your pinky's nail.

Knowing it's done, you lower your hand by your side, this time seeing what's going on.

Observing them work, you have to admit that there is a certain power in Sero's quirk simplicity. Need to fix the bandages, leg and splint together and evenly tight? Tape it.
Need to get Kyoka immobilized on the stretcher? Tape her while Toru holds her down, despite her protests.

...She hasn't forgotten the Battle Trial either, it seems.

Need to shut up Fumikage? Ta- Okay, he didn't do that, but you are sure he thought about doing it.

In two more hand-elevator trips, they are all over the edge, and after grabbing a strand of Sero's tape and shrinking, you are fished out too.

Once you land back on the 'surface world', you see Denki using the knife you gave him to release a fuming Kyoka, as Kirishima slices his splint with his quirk.

"Well, that was a good job!" No. 13 says raising a few fingers. "...Just a hiccup, but that's more about not having an actual first aid class yet. Good first aid care for a broken leg, but not the best way to diagnose it. But let me praise how those with relevant quirks made good use of them, while those who didn't helped bring it all together, a good job over all!"

>"I think I'm afraid of tape, of all things." Kyoka says, hugging herself. "It always leaves with part of you."
>"Please, tell me I won't have to do that again…" Fumikage asks sighing.
>"Not until next training here, then maybe. So, better luck next week!" No. 13 replies.
>"...Damn."
>"Can I be the panicky one next time?" Kirishima asks. "It looks more fun than laying sideways or napping."

>"I think it went pretty well!" Toru says, shaking her fists up and down.
"Ah reckon it did go as planned." You reply, trying to tip your hat and failing for absence of said hat. How frustrating! "Better not get used to that."
>"I think we deserve a good, simple field trip." Denki comments. "Just a class before the weekend."
>"...Welp. We are jinxed." Sero says, putting on his helmet. "I'm not taking this off until we leave. I'm not sure if it'll be a villain again, the press… again, or a meteorite, but something is going to go down. And I'll be ready."

>"We are wasting time here." Mr. Aizawa says. "Pick the next victims 13."
>"Alrighty!.. Walker, Asui and Yaoyorozu!" No. 13 says, pointing at each of you in turn. "Same order, unconscious, broken leg, panicky!"

Damn.

"It could be worse…" You comment at the idea of pretending to be dragged unconscious again.

>"Iida, Midoriya, Mineta and Uraraka." Mr. Aizawa says.
"...Why?" You ask him. You like the little guy, up to a point, but he's definitely not on the list of people who you'd want near your unconscious body.
>"Two relevant quirks, two irrelevant." He explains. "Working around this is the main point of the exercise."
"That wasn't the point…" You say sighing.

At least it's just classes.

Also at what point can we actually get Mineta in trouble for sexual harassment? We can tolerate his bullshit up to a point but he's constantly a total creep to an unbearable degree.
