You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, and one of the three students hand picked by No. 13 for this task!

...Pretending to be helpless on the bottom of a ravine.

You did your part rescuing, and now you need to help others train too, you get that.

You aren't exactly worried about that though. Having to play the part of the unconscious one, someone will have to make sure you are okay and to bring you up and out of the ravine.

You trust Deku, and Iida, they are too nice to do anything, and Uraraka too!
...Not so much Grapes though, helpful ally and with a good head on his shoulders, sure.
That's what you are worried about.
You'd rather not break kayfabe…

>"Don't worry Tsuyu…" Momo says as you see her digging a trench on the rock floor with her pacing. "We'll get out of this, I-I'm sure of it. Ushi will be okay too… We just… We just have to wait! Someone will find us! They… They have to!... R-right?"

...especially with Momo doing her best to act worried, and actually doing a good job.
But it makes you a tad nervous.

>"Momo, Ushi… Shouldn't you wait until the rescue starts?" Tsu asks near you.
>"But how are we going to be found by the rescuers!? With Ushi unconscious we must make as much noise as possible!" Momo screams. "We need not give up!"
"Can't answer." You say, keeping an eye closed and not moving from your royal egyptian pose, with your arms crossed over your chest "Too unconscious."
>"Maybe you are taking this too seriously. Ribbit." Tsu comments.

>"Are you okay!? Don't worry! We'll save you!" Sounds Iida's voice from above.
>"We'll be sending someone down soon!" Deku adds.
>"Please hurry! We have injured down here who need medical attention!" Momo shouts back. "You heard that!? We are going to be okay!"

Less than a minute later, you see Mineta and Uraraka fall softly near you, no doubt thanks to her quirk. It's certainly great for this kind of thing, as the stretcher, splints and bandages are lowered in one trip, softly hitting the rock and starting to float up again before Uraraka releases her quirk and they are all affected by earth's gravity well once more.

>"Alright!" Uraraka starts, looking around "We are here! We'll get you patched up and send you up! Then the boys up there will receive you!"
>"We are safe!" Momo shouts, covering her mouth with one hand and wiping a tear off her eye with the other. "Thank you so much, heroes!"
>"...I think I hurt my leg." Tsu says, suddenly remembering she has a part to play and holding her knee up. "Ow."

>"You should splint her leg and give her the harness while I immobilize Walker on the stretcher, then you can send them both up." Mineta assesses the situation, taking the splints and bandages out of the stretcher and handing them to Uraraka, leaving only a length of rope in the stretcher. "Yaoyorozu is okay-ish, so she can go up last."
>"Right!" Uraraka assents, kneeling next to to Asui. "This may hurt a little, but please try to stay still."

You see Mineta approach dragging the stretcher, and close your eye, getting back into character.

>"Now if one's hand were to slip while carrying a victim…" He mumbles. "Would that be even be something bad?"

...Aw, come on man. Aren't you training to become a hero?
He makes it hard to hold sympathy for him, acting like that.

For all he's been a creep since you've known him, he's only touched you once, and you already forgave him that one.

And to be honest, you kinda pity the guy. It's why you have only scolded him when he shamelessly ogled you. Even given him some advice that one time.
Considering the head spinning slap Tsu gave him earlier today for less, you'd call yourself merciful for keeping a more or less amicable relationship with him.

You'd really like it if he kept it amicable as well.
He'll need to touch you for this exercise, but if his hands were to 'slip' as he said…
Well, you are not sure of what you'd do, but he wouldn't like it.

>"There be time for that later." He says, sighing and placing a hand on your back and other on the back of your knee before heaving you. "Uh. I didn't actually think I could lift you. I was planning on dragging you."

You don't reply, you are not supposed to. But you do feel relieved, even if one of your boots is still dragging on the floor.

>"I wonder if…" He says right before you start moving, being shaken and rocked all the while. Up and down, hornswise and feetwise.

It's pretty clear to you that you are being ogled…
But he's not groping you nor copping a feel.
...Success?

>"Now let's do this right…" In a minute, he lays you on the stretcher and straps you tight, a strap over your shoulders, another over your abdomen and arms and other over your ankles.
...It's really, really uncomfortable.

>"Well, that's done. And without any improper touching." He says, giving the stretcher a kick. "...I'll remember that though, never seen them this close..."

"-COUGH!-" You feign coughing up a lung in the angriest manner known to you.

It's a simple if tacit, message. 'Don't push it.'
And it seems to work.

>"Butmyjobhereisdonebye! Uraraka!" He shouts, and you hear him running away. "Send her up!"
>"I'm just about done with Tsuyu!" The girl shouts back. "This might be scary, but try to not move. Don't worry, Deku and Iida will receive you up there."
>"Ribbit." Tsu replies…
>"Up you go!" Uraraka says, and you can practically picture Tsuyu floating up.
>"Alright Ushi!" She continues, and you hear her massive boots closing in. "Same to you. The stretcher could tilt it you wiggle, so try to stay still, okay?"

You don't reply, too unconscious for that, but you do stiffen a bit more.
She used her quirk on you once, and it was terribly weird and unbalancing.
Hopefully, it'll feel less strange if you are already lying on your back.
Not that you have much room to move, anyway.

>"...Some really take this thing seriously…" She says, and you feel her fingers on your shoulder. It's almost as disconcerting as the last time. "I'll give you a little push so I can release both of you at the same time. Up you go!"

As she said, you only float slowly for a second, then you suddenly accelerate upwards. It's still slow, but less so.
Intrigued, you finally open your eyes and see…
...Gold.
All you can see is your own hair up and floating around your head, along with some ropes on the stretcher that you think are to avoid sending you to space for accident.
Bummer. The hair part, not the space one, you are happy on this side of the atmosphere.

>"Here they come!" You hear Iida say, still some distance above. "I'll take care of Walker-"
>"-And I got Asui!" Deku completes his friend's sentence. "Do it now, Uraraka!"

And instantly, all your admittedly low body weight returns to you, accompanied by the far too familiar feelings of falling on your back and of your hair covering your eyes.

The straps keeping your arms in place don't make that tiny instant of panic milder, all the contrary, in fact.

>"I got you this time." Iida says, holding the stretcher aloft in his arms. "You are safe now."
"That's nice, sugar." You tell him, starting to struggle on the stretcher. "But do ya mind putting me down and untying me? Or just the hands strap, I can get off this thing on my own then."
>"Oh. Right, Sorry!" He says, lowering the stretcher to the ground and releasing the straps. "...They didn't use these on Uraraka, but Midoriya said we should use every resource available."
"Shoto, Momo and Fumikage probably trusted their pulley and Dark Shadow." You explain, hopping back to your feet.

"Thanks for rescuing me, hero!" You tell him with a smile, giving him a small punch on the shoulder. Besides hugging, it's one of few ways of showing affection you know of.
>"...You are welcome." He replies with a small smile before looking back down into the depths.

...Odd. He's usually more… Hype about pretty much everything.

>"I-I'm sending the harness back down!" Deku shouts down the ravine, slowly letting the rope attached to the harness slip between his fingers.

A minute later, Momo joins you on the surface and Uraraka and Mineta float up too, officially ending the exercise.

>"Good job! Good Job! Nice to see that some of the rescuees also took their part seriously this time!" No. 13 cheers as the seven of you form a line. "And someone finally figured how to use the emergency stretcher! As you can see, each team is doing better than the last! From the use and not use of quirks, to the gear, there's much to learn from your own classmates! And don't worry if you already had your turn, I'm not evaluating this exercise just yet!"

...You kind of like Thirteen already.
>>
And so your involvement in the first part of the class is over, giving you free reign to use your time while the next teams practice the same circuit you've seen from both sides now.

It being just one guy is more manageable, but Ushi being used to it doesn't mean she's gonna tolerate it. Now in Japan she has real friends, romantic prospects that actually respect her, and she's VP of her class. She doesn't have to tolerate someone showing a lack of respect for how she feels and what her boundaries are, so it's important to have this talk with Mineta, if not now then at some point in the future.

You keep an eye on the ongoing exercise, watching as your classmates do their best to top each other's performances.

It's certainly something interesting and educative…

But your attention is more focused on the boy in shining armor.
No, not the blonde-sparkly one.
The one you actually care about, your friend Iida.

He is standing near the edge of the ravine, next to the Deku and Uraraka, as he often does.

You've only known him for about a week, but he's always been two things.
Straight laced and Hype.
The fact that he's suddenly falling behind on one of those two is at least strange, and worrying at most.

So you walk towards them, taking note of the fact that Deku seems to have noticed his restrained attitude as well, looking to him and opening his mouth up for an instant before stopping, and trying again a bit later. Uraraka just seems happy commenting on the exercise.

"What's with the long face, sugar?" You ask him when you arrive.
>"Uh. Hi, Walker." He says, again with the mild smile. "Whatever do you mean?"
"You look a bit... Too down in the dumps for having pulled me out of that hole." You clarify, looking up to him. "It's kinda off putting… So! What's eating you?"

He looks down at you, seemingly parsing his words.
You keep your own smile up and wait for him to say something…
For a minute. It's just frustrating after that!
There's nothing more simple than spouting out your thoughts if you aren't going to lie, just take a breath and spit it out, damn it.
By the second minute you aren't asking with a smile anymore, but glaring and demanding with crossed arms that he tells you.

"C'mon! Spit it out!" You bark at him.

He frowns a bit and looks down, avoiding your gaze.

>"The scenario." He finally answers, snapping his gaze back to yours and with an edge on his voice, waving his arm to show the ravine. "I just pulled you out on a stretcher in the USJ. Again! Even if the exercise went well... It left a bitter taste in my mouth."
"Oh." Kyoka told you he didn't take it well the first time, and there's no mistaking his frown.
...You may have been a tad pushy.

"Believe me, I was none too thrilled 'bout being rescued. But we can't be heroes all the time." You tell him, twirling your hand around. "Not yet at least, but ain't that what we are here for? The classes, the training and exercises... We'll get there."
>"...Yes. We do as we must." He says, sighing and turning his head to look up. "...To be the heroes next time."
"'yuup. Next time..." You reply, craning your neck to see whatever he's looking at.

Far away, and through a hole someone blew through the USJ's dome, the bright blue spring sky can be seen, untarnished by cloud nor vapor trail.
Once again, he bides his time, staring up for far longer than reasonable.

"Thanks for telling me." You continue, before lowering your sight to look at him once more. "You didn't have to tell me if ya didn't want to. Heck, you could've told me that and I'd walk away."
>"I think I told you too much, to be honest." He replies, as straightforward as always.

Ouch…
It's hard to not wince at that.
But it's not like it's your fault! He told you after all, and only what he wanted to tell.
...Right?

You take a step away from him and stay silent for a while, ruminating on what you just did and heard.

Even as the teams rotate and Deku and Uraraka try to comment on the exercise, Iida only adds a few short words every now and then.

>"Alright!" No. 13 says as the last team of the day finishes its turn. "I think I told everyone already, but good job everybody! For a first day, that's it! Next class you will learn how it is done, and you'll be able to see just how close you were!"

The hero then starts walking away, motioning for the class to follow.

>"Walk with me!" The teacher tells you. "It's not hard to repeat the same rescue over and over, but you see… That just doesn't happen! In the real world, even if they look similar each disaster is one of a kind, and you'll need to be prepared for everything that may happen! Suffice to say, there's still lots of things to do before you go back to the school campus!"

>"I'm liking this class." Mina comments, stretching as you all follow the teacher to the ruins zone. "It's sort of relaxing to just do the exercises as told."
>"I can't believe I missed having teachers telling me what to do." Kirishima replies. "Although figuring out the details ourselves makes it better."
>"Don't relax just yet." Mr. Aizawa tells them. "The class is still in session, so stay on your toes."

...No matter how much you may respect him, it's impossible to argue that Mr. Aizawa isn't pretty much the opposite of No. 13 in terms of enthusiasm.

The ruins zone is, true enough, a zone within the Unforeseen Simulation Joint that is full of ruins. More specifically, what looks to be a city after an earthquake.

And if what Momma told you of Japan is true, and has been so far, that's sort of a common occurrence.

>"This time, we'll aim for something more genuine as like in a real emergency, you'll need to locate the injured anywhere amongst the rubble, and there's no way to know the state of their injuries before you find them." No. 13 explains once you arrive to the center of the zone. "As before, there'll be four heroes but this time, everyone else gets to play victim! Eight of the sixteen victims to won't be allowed to talk. I'll pick them."

>"So…" Mina starts, looking cautiously at Mr. Aizawa. "Are we playing hide and seek!?"
>"Not quite, but almost!" No. 13 waves the comment off before pointing at a few students. "... Ok! These are the four that will be searching!"

Much to your dismay, you are not one of the chosen.
Instead, it's Daisy, Deku, Mineta and Uraraka.
>>
>"Why do I have to work with Deku!?" Daisy asks.
>"I think it's because you need to mellow, and you get mad by being near him." Uraraka answers, leaving the already angry boy fuming.

At least you like hide and seek. No one hides better than yo-
… Except Toru. If she's not allowed to talk she may never be found.

>"Kirishima, Koda, Sato, Shoji, Jiro, Sero, Tokoyami and Todoroki. You are the ones that must stay silent. Everyone else should shout and make noise in their hiding places!" No. 13 finishes explaining. "You all have eight minutes to spread out and hide, so get to it!"

In an instant everyone but the 'heroes' are scattering.
Some just run off like Mina and Kirishima, while some look for nooks and crannies to tuck themselves into, like Kyoka and Momo.

Others like Shoji and you stay put for a few seconds, thinking about where to go.

>What do you do?

As far as I know, we're the only one with a quirk that lets us shrink into small spaces, so doing this should present a unique opportunity for everyone to learn from.

As a shameless Iidafag, I'm hoping we'll have boarded the SS Autism by then. So we can slap him on one cheek for being an idiot and GOING LOOKING FOR a guy who'd killed far more experienced heroes. Then slap him on the other cheek for not talking to us about what he was about to try. Then kiss him for coming back alive.

>>
>>2253664
I still think Shoto needs a friend far more than he needs a lover, though.
Meanwhile the way Ushi and Iida bounce off each other with their respective forms of social incompetence is both funny and cute.
>>
>>2253677
The best lovers are good friends.
Ushi is too different and a relationship would compromise who Iida is too much. make him less serious and stuff. Though his seriousness is part of who he is. He needs someone who appreciates his seriousness and dedication. Like Momo.

Also It would be good for their families. combining the famous Yaoyorozu and Iida hero families can only mean superior heroes for the future.

Go home Endeavor. Don't you have Punnett squares to be doing?

>a relationship would compromise who Iida is too much
That's ridiculous. People don't magically turn into the person they're dating. Iida will always be an earnest and serious person, the most being with Ushi will do is smooth the edges on it a bit, help him gain confidence to back that seriousness.
And really, he'd get there eventually anyways through this strange and mysterious process called "growing up".
>>
>>2253714
The best lovers are also good friends with each other, but having your literal ONLY friend also be your girlfriend isn't good for the relationship. It adds a lot of pressure, and whenever fights happen it means that said person's one sympathetic shoulder to lean on, vent, and ask for advice isn't there, because they're the source of conflict. I think Shoto is great, but ultimately he doesn't feel quite ready for a relationship.

>>2254018
He won't magically change, no. But in a relationship, compromise is important, and they are too different in beliefs to make things works without having to compromise on many, many things. He needs to learn to relax a bit, but his straight-lacedness is part of his charm, and he wouldn't be able to maintain such a thing with Ushi.

>they are too different in beliefs to make things works without having to compromise on many, many things
Where are they really all that different?
Let's look at where Ushi's relationship dice are. "Mom", "The Gals", and "Shoto". This points to Ushi being very family and team oriented. Considering her outburst, it would seem that these are core values. And they're traits that she SHARES with Iida. Ushi may be more laid back than Iida, but she values a lot of the same things he does.
>>
>>2254202
Ushi plays fast and loose with the rule. Iida is super dedicated to them (normally).
Ushi is humerous and a tease. Iida is straightforward
There are some similarities, but also significant differences
>>
>>2254248
>Ushi plays fast and loose with the rule
Does she really, though? Sure we bailed on the lunch with Endeavour, but that was mostly for Shoto's sake, kid clearly DID NOT want to be there.
She's not as much of a chapter-and-verse rule follower as Iida, but it's not like she's some sort of rebel without a cause. Ushi just seems to have a more normal relationship with rules, not one diametrically opposed to Iida's rule following ways.
>Ushi is humerous and a tease. Iida is straightforward
That's a surface difference and hell, the teasing is a coping mechanism from the days when "it was still the boys, the girls and the cow. But everyone wanted to touch the cow." Considering his botched confession it seems that Iida LIKES Ushi's silliness.
>>
>>2254101
Hm, I think there's multiple perspectives of Ushi going on here. Which makes perfect sense since she's a quest MC and is a half finished slate by nature.

This is just my viewpoint, but I see her as being strongly principled, which is the source of her problems (and strength for that matter). Most of her autism seems to stem from something running contrary to her sensibilities and preconceptions. In this way, she's actually fairly similar to Iida.

>>2254248
Eh, Ushi's not actually that loose and Iida's not actually that tight. And both of them are really damn blunt and straightforward.

A bit aside, but I was rereading some old threads and I'd completely forgotten some of Ushi's interactions with Iida. Particularly the total spaghetti exchange that was the engine maintenance scene.

Amongst the ruins and rubble are many options for someone with your quirk to hide in, behind and under.
But many of those, most in fact, are places where anyone could get.
There's not point on doing the same as anyone else!

So instead of picking any normal hiding spot and getting there like a normal person you close your eyes, stick a leg out and spin for a few seconds before running in whatever direction you ended looking at.

That way you end up running at the entrance for a minute before placing your hand on your thigh and turning towards a pile of rubble, climbing over pieces of broken concrete and rebar smaller than your head normally is.

Taking the rest of the time to clean a small concrete slab to sit on in the middle of the rubble, and huddle behind a stained and dented tin mug, you start making noise.

"Help!" You scream, banging the discarded mug with a stone. "I can't get out!"

You then stop and listen for a few seconds, trying to hear if anyone is getting close to your position. Hearing nothing, you do it again.
And again.
...And again…

It makes for a solid six minutes of throat-scraping screaming, but eventually you hear steps running towards your hiding spot.

"Help!" You scream again. "I can't get out and my throat hurts, damn it!"
>"Midoriya!" You hear Mineta shout. "I found someone!"
"Over here, get me out!" You shout through the two inches wide opening you got in through.
>"It's Walker! I found Walker!" He says stumbling around and looking for your hiding spot. "Oh. You got there with your quirk, right?"
"'yuup! Sure did!" You assent, sitting on the lone beam of light entering your dusty hiding spot. "Now get me out!"
>"Can't you just… crawl out?" The little guy asks.
>"Well... that's kind of our job, Mineta." Deku answers for you as he catches up. "Collapsed building with a victim under the rubble…"
>"There's a pole from a broken street sign over there." Grapes adds. "You could force the rubble away and widen the opening with that, right?"
>"Not a bad idea, but if we just do that the rubble could collapse and smash her." Answers the green haired boy, holding his chin.
"That makes it a bad idea!" You shout at them as you wait for their valiant rescue. "The possibility of the victim dying is kinda the hallmark of a bad idea!"
>"We'll need to secure the surrounding debris." Deku continues. "With your Pop Off, it should be fairly easy to glue the rubble together and keep it from shifting."
>"...That's a good idea" Grapes says, nodding and imitating Deku's thinking stance.
>"I just like coming up with ways to use heroes' quirks." Deku replies with a little blush. Cute.

Watching these two trying to work it out reminds you of Pappa's crew, in a way.
...Without the swearing.

But it doesn't last, as Daisy crashes the party, landing with heavy thud nearby.

>"Outta the way scrubs, you've been sitting on your thumbs for minutes now." The blonde says, shoving both of his teammates aside. "Briskets could suffocate on dust in the time you idiots overthink it."

He looks at you and your hiding spot for a second before going to another destroyed building and pulling out a mostly straight piece of rebar.

He then inserts the length of rebar in the hole and stabs the slab of concrete you are in, an inch below your feet.

"The fuck?" You shout at him through the hole. "Do you want to impale me!?"
>"Not gonna answer that, Briskets." Daisy tells you. "Now grab on, I still have a bunch of idiots to find."
"...If only so I can fuck off sooner." You reply, doing as you were told.

He pulls the rebar out in one swift motion, dragging you along.
Even if you wouldn't say it, it's impressive how the bar didn't touch the edges of the hole at any point.

"It would have taken them a tad longer, but they would have figured it out." You tell Daisy, as you return to your normal stature.
>"Every minute spent thinking on how to get you out is a minute not spent killing the villains." He answers, throwing the rebar away for seemingly no reason. "...Or rescuing other victims."

He then cups a hand behind his ear and listens for a second, before lowering it and literally blasting off, toppling Mineta and making sure there's not a single part of your outfits not covered in dust.

>"...Man, what an asshole." Grapes remarks, standing up and dusting himself off.
"Ah know, right?" You say, agreeing and combing your hair with your fingers.

Dude is an asshole. There may be some 'ands' and 'buts' but there's no denying that he is an asshole.

>"...Kacchan is right, though." Deku says, not disagreeing. "We were taking too long. We need to get to the victims faster if we want to leave enough time for the others to try the exercise."
>"It wasn't an exactly common sitch." Mineta reassures him. "And I thought it was a clever plan."
"I would have liked to see it." You agree, looking around. "... Are you guys going through the centre of the zone?"
>"Sure?" Deku says, scratching the back of his neck. "I mean… I don't hear any other screams in the area."
"Mind if I walk with you?" You ask them. "I need to regroup with the other rescuees and the teachers."
>"I don't see why not." Deku answers and Mineta shrugs, allowing you to silently fall in line with them.

"...So." You try to spark a new conversation a few seconds later. "Do you have anything about me?"
>"W-what?" Deku asks back, missing a beat and stumbling forwards.
"Uses for my quirk." You clarify. "I like to think I've tried everything, but I'm open to suggestions."

He looks up and grabs his chin once more, no doubt thinking about your query.

>"Well, it's certainly a strong one, and with your ability to affect anything for any amount of time..." He says. "I think I've brought up disaster relief before, but beyond basically winning every fight you can manage to grapple or slap your enemy, your quirk shines in infrastructure and logistics… If I had a bottle of dirty water and another full of clean water, could you shrink the dirty bottle to enlarge the clean one?"

"Sure can." You answer, wanting to see where is he going with that. "Anything to anything, one pound of feathers to a pound of iron."

>"Could you, in a disaster, turn rubble into supplies this way?" He then asks. "Or turn a tin can into an impromptu shelter?"
"Well… I guess so…" You answer once more. "But what about fighting?"
>"If you can shrink anything with a touch, then your fights will naturally be about closing the distance and getting the first touch." He answers. "Nothing you didn't know, I th-"

Then comes the shockwave and the rumble, shattering every piece of glass larger than a foot into a sparkling razor shower.

You have seen distilleries and fertilizer plants blow up, so this doesn't even faze you.
What does rattles you is one of the possible explanations.
One that gets confirmed as soon as you look at the clearing dust in the distance.

A huge man wearing a two colored horned mask walks out of the fading cloud, dragging an unconscious…

"S-Shoto?" You mumble in disbelief as your oldest friend's limbs dangle like a ragdoll
>"V-villains?" Mineta asks in disbelief, hiding behind your leg.
>"He must have been hiding on the ruins since the attack…" Deku theorizes.

It doesn't surprise you to see Sero being one of the first to react, using his quirk to swing near the teachers.

>"THERE'S A VILLAIN OUT THERE!!" He shouts, loud enough for you to hear.

The teacher's reaction doesn't surprise you either.
>"Run! To the exit, we must get out!" No. 13 says, pointing frantically at the exit while Mr. Aizawa just watches.
...What else could they do? They are still recovering from eating dirt two days ago.

"NO!" Comes the villain's bellowing reply. "THERE IS NO ESCAPE. YOU DIE HERE! TODAY!!"

And with a simple stomp, he levels the entire block, trapping you and most of your classmates in an artificial plateau with him…

Well, you aren't exactly trapped.
A twelve feet jump wouldn't keep you from running away…

But would you even try it?

Unlike the previous shockwave, this one not only leveled the buildings as it cleared the area, but sent you and your classmates either to the ground or into the newly created rubble.

You don't mind it though.

Shoto is still being manhandled by the villain, dangling limply by his heating vest. Thats miles above some dirt on your hair in your priorities.

So you take a knee and stand up, not bothering to get the gray dust off you
Instead, you lend a hand to the two coughing boys nearby. It's a gesture born of both cordiality and necessity.

You don't want to test your chances going against this dude alone, and this two are already here, and you'd easily call Deku one of the class' strongest fighters, even if he lacks any kind of staying power.

"You okay?" You ask them as they take your offered hands.
>"What happened!?" Grapes screams, then starts making an habit of pointing out the obvious. "There's another v-villain in th-the school!? I don't want to die a virgin!"
"...Deku?" You redirect your question, letting go of Grapes' glove and taking a step to the side.
>"Surprised and a bit roughed up, but I've been way worse." He answers, staring at the villains and making you wonder how often does he actually break something or the other. "A single villain we can handle with some planning, but with a hostage?.."
"Simple." You say, rolling back your sleeves and cracking your neck. "First, I'll get my pal outta dodge. Then... Then we'll make sure he can't do it again."
>"W-We?" Grapes asks. "Didn't you see what he just did!?"
"Yeah, Ah did." You answer. "None of the class can quite match that, but any of us is at least half as strong... We can make him bleed."

Falling inside the 'clean' crater, along with your own resilience made it easy for you to be amongst the first to recover, but the rest of the class doesn't stay down for long.

>"Damn it all!" You hear Momo shout as she picks herself up near the outer edge of the crater. "Not again!"
>"This can't be!.." Uraraka adds and even though you are dozens of yards away from each other, you can see the tears pooling in her eyes. "T-this shouldn't be!"
>"What kind of sick joke is this!?" Kirishima throws his two very angry cents in, walking out of the window of a collapsed building.
>"Why was this guy hidden!?" Kaminari asks screaming, standing in front of what looks to be a department building cleft in half.

>"Quick kids!" No. 13 shouts, barely moving on the rubble. "Get to the exit! Run away!"
>"We are too injured to help." Mr. Aizawa deadpans. "You'll have to evacuate."

"NO..!" The villain says, his voice sounding like a washing machine full of marbles at the other side of a bad phone call. "NOW YOU CAN'T RUN!! I'LL JUST PICK YOU OFF ONE BY ONE!!!"

And then, as if to spite you or No. 13's order to run, Daisy shoots himself into the fray with an explosive right hook, only to be repelled single handedly by the villain's free hand.

>"You run." He says, looking more like a rabid dog than a victim. "I'm going to kill this guy."
"EVERYONE IS ABOUT TO DIE, AND YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO TRY THIS?!" The villain shouts back.

>"He's going to get himself killed!" Grapes says as you all look at the blonde manoeuvre mid air with his explosions, throwing one ineffective jab after the other. "He can't win that fight!"
>"He's buying time." Deku clarifies. "He said it himself, he wants us to run."
"Not a fucking chance." You immediately say, taking a page off Iida's book and making an 'X' with your arms. "But he makes for a mighty fine distraction, I'll give you that."

"ENOUGH." The villain says, lunging at Daisy.

At this point, you are not surprised when he dodges with a fucking rocket powered flip over the villains head, landing a solid hit to the villain's back and bouncing off before getting caught in the villain's sweeping counterattack.

>"Hey, Briskets! Ponytail!" He shouts, taking the chance to catch his breath. "Do your fucking job and get the rest of the weaklings to run away!"

Fuck he's right.

"Everyone! Plea-!" You start shouting, making a bullhorn with your hands.

>"VP, Stand down!" Momo shouts behind you through her own, real bullhorn. "No one is leaving anyone behind."

You look up to the top of the plateau's walls, where the the sound came from.

Up there…
Everyone else is there, from Sero, Aoyama and Kaminari with a familiar artifact in the back, ready to shoot, to Kirishima and Sato just on the edge, shaking on their boots to throw down, as if waiting for a signal.

The 'signal' becomes obvious to you in an instant, as Momo starts talking again.

"You've attacked our classmate, invaded our school and threatened our lives! The fear, pain and scars you and your league have caused us are unforgivable, and you deserve nothing more than being violently subdued and delivered to justice!" She yells into the bullhorn. "But because doing so would increase the risk to the wellbeing of my classmates, I'm giving you one last chance, villain. Let Todoroki go and leave this place, or else."
As everyone looks at the villain with bated breath, you lean next to Deku.

"I can make you a giant." You tell him in a whisper. "It will tire you sooner, but your body just might be able to resist the strain of your quirk."
>"...If he fights, so do we." He answers.

Thus you too wait, with a hand innocently resting on your friend's shoulder...

"NAH." The villain replies after a few seconds. "WHAT CAN YOU EV-
>"Now!" Momo yells.

The instant she does, the villain is covered in nets, rolled in tape and shot clearly in the head with a glimmering yellow line. The familiar double thunder and ozone smell confirm the origin of the line as the mechanical monster in Denki's hands.

...He's a really good shot it seems.

For your part, you do as you planned, making Deku 30 feet tall in an instant, causing him to stumble forward for an instant before stabilizing.
>>
The villain is restrained for now, but you can clearly see that even with a taser to the face he's flexing, and the tape is already starting to strain.

You guys, remember the battle trial? The reason Bakugo can get away with using his explosions on people is because of his precision. Suddenly changing the specs of his equipment is going to compromise that and put our whole class, especially Shoto, in danger of a miscalculated payload.

Plus, Bakugo would have to pause his acrobatics for us to touch him, and his dodging is what's keeping him from getting BTFO right now.

Having only one gauntlet would throw off his balance and flight.

This guy just leveled buildings. We need the maximum possible defensive capability, and that's stone-titan-Kirishima.

And as for rushing in, Iida has the best chance of extracting Shoto. Ushi just isn't fast enough on her feet.

3) Villain shreded the concrete and metal bar enforced structures...better send in stone boy
4) No shit we do this the moment Shoto is extracted
>>
>[Join the fray directly.]
>>

It's a blast, not a laser. It's going to spread out significantly, and effect more than the target.

Has to stop dodging before getting the big gaunlets, which is when the big guy can strike.

He's not stone. He's harder than steel. Grow him up and he's even more durable.
>>
>>2258675
Ignoring all my other points, this thing still fires in a cone. It's going to be doing a lot of splash to whatever's behind this guy. And we're surrounded by our classmates.

And even ignoring that too, there's Newton's second law. If we're taking it off of Bakugo's arm, then it's going to go rocketing off into whatever's behind it. And we're surrounded by our classmates.

Assuming the gauntlet still works the same when scaled up. Chemical properties and size don't scale the same, which is why we get tired faster when we're giant. The guantlet wasn't designed to work at this size. The whole gauntlet might just explode, or fizzle. We don't know. It'd be an untested bomb. And we're surrounded by classmates.
>>
>>2258693
Shit I meant third law, not second.
How embarrassing.
>>
>>2258693
then you do the smart thing anon and fire from below, how fortunate the villain is towering over us because the cunt is massive. He goes up we go down, but since we are on the floor already you have two options
1) use all our limbs to support fortunatly that darn cone fire now is helpful because is mean there will be less force in a single direction
2) just take said gauntlet of and pull the pin from the side like you would fire a cannon even assuming this thing has a 90 degree FoF we will still miss all our allies and wont go flying into any of them.

You don't really need to break the whole building to collapse it. Just get the bottom to jiggle enough and the whole thing will destroy itself as it falls. The same is not true for Kirishima.

Ushi's normal giant form can tank bullets, and Kirishima's normal form was almost enough to stop the All-Might killer. Combined he'd be tough enough to give All-Might a run for his money.

Also, unless this thing is pointed absolutely perfectly upwards, it's still going to ricochet off the ground and up into the peanut gallery on the edges of the crater.

And if it is pointed perfectly upwards, how are we going to get it underneath him? The first step will be explaining the plan to Bakugo and convincing him to go with it, which might take more time than we have.

42 tons of tnt is not going to be safe for anyone nearby. Its stupid and reckless to set off a big bomb while our people are scattered around.

Concrete is pretty weak to shockwaves. Reinforced concrete is better, but they use Cementoss, and he can't spawn rebar, so they likely make everything out of plain concrete.

I need you to roll me your quirk!
Normally, that would be 6d10!..
But with Shoto in danger, it can easily be boosted to 7d10!
...And an argument can be made to add the The Gals' die too, making it 8d10!

Normally, I'd ask you to vote on using them or not... But it's literally impossible for this to backfire on a quirk roll with that many dice, so...

Just as you thought, the villain wastes no time shredding the tape and nets covering him by flexing. In another situation, you might even have found it impressive.

"OHHFF FOOFNEES!.." He says, taking a moment to raise his free hand and grab his head. "AH FINK AH BEET DA TEEP OH MAH THONN OO-!"

...You aren't quite sure if it's because of the taser to the head messed with his jaw or because it rattled his braincase, but you can't understand what is he babbling about, but you don't really try to decipher it.

There's a bigger player in the field and for the first time since the entrance exam, it isn't you.

>"I hope this works…" Deku mumbles, grabbing his right wrist with his left hand and holding his ring finger back with his thumb, aiming the resulting finger gun at the villain. "DELAWARE! SMASH!"

When you made him into a giant, you expected him to use his incredible strength to punch the villain to kingdom come, not flicking his fingers at him. Not that you are upset about it, the sheer pressure wave forces the villain to protect himself with his free arm and bury his feet into the ground as he is pushed back.

However, that's all it does.

"DAT ALL YAA CAN DOO M- BOI!?" The villain says, laughing boastfully as he lowers his arm and looks up to the enormous teenager.

Deku for his part, doesn't seem to be paying him any mind, looking at his own hand instead, opening and closing his fingers one by one.

>"It's not broken! I can't hurt him, but it's not broken! I'll hold him back, try to get Todoroki out!" He says, smiling and raising his hands and flicking again. "SMASH!

And again the villain is forced to be on the defencive, immobilized by the attack.
The instant the villain manages to step forwards, Deku flicks again, pinning him once more.

Not one to waste the opportunity given to you, you crouch and press your hands on the ground, replenishing and filling your internal storage.
You had spent all you had on getting Deku as big as you could, and you don't usually walk around full, as it wouldn't let you shrink if you needed to. But for what you are planning, you'll need the full load.

After connecting with the earth itself, you take your hands off the ground and place them on your calves, enlarging your legs for just a fraction of a second before shrinking them back to normal, sending yourself at the lowest angle you think can send you over the edge of the hole you are in.

'Ain't no perfect jump, but it's pretty damn close.' You think as you land rolling near Momo and the rest of the class. "...Howdy. Where's Kirishima?"

The present just stare at your landing, all but Kaminari, giving a double thumbs up and Iida, who sprints to your side.

>"Over there, on the ledge." Iida answers, offering you one of his hands and pointing with the other. "I'm glad you made it out."
"Don't get too happy sugar, Ah ain't running away." You reply, taking his hand, standing up and looking back to the villain, once more at the receiving end of a Delaware Smash. "But Ah need to ask you a favor. A big 'un."
>"Sure, what is it?" He asks, with way less thought than you thought he'd give it.

Hell, you'd normally ask, then see if you do or don't.

"Make a run for it." You answer. "Go down there and when you see your chance, get Shoto and get the hell outta dodge"
>"He's too fast and too strong, the only thing keeping him in place are Midoriya's strikes." He replies, motioning at the bracing villain and the green haired giant. "And those won't let me get close anyway."
"Stick close and I'll make sure you get your opening." You assure him, grabbing him by the shoulders. "Please, I'm counting on you."
>"... So am I." He sighs and answers, and you pull your arms back. "Get me that opening and I'll get your… friend back."
"Thank you." You tell him, as the bespectacled boy walks to the edge and starts sliding down.

With that taken care off, you turn to the direction he was pointing at earlier and walk away, waving off the concerned questions of your friends behind you.

>"Are you okay?" One of the girls asks.
"I'll be, bastard's 'bout to come crashing down." You answer without looking nor stopping. You can apologize later.

The boy you are looking for, Kirishima, is indeed on the ledge, looking at the fight below.

>"...Weren't you down there?" He asks as soon as you enter his peripheral vision.
"'yuu, just came up." You answer, coming to stand at his side.

The fight doesn't seem to be progressing in any way…
But you notice that Deku has changed hands, and that his actual hand is shaking between 'shots'.
You have to hurry.

"But why are you up here?" You ask him. You didn't peg him for one to stay off a fight. "I thought you'd jump in as soon as possible."
>"I'd really like to make him swallow his teeth." He answers. "I want to stand up and join Midoriya and Bakugo down there! But I'm not an idiot. I have no range whatsoever, and that guy looks as strong as Nomu."
"I can give you a boost, ya know? About the same thing Ah did to Deku." You offer, twirling your hand. "With the scaling, it should make you pretty much an immovable object. If you want, that is."
>"Pinks is gonna get green when she sees it." He tells you, his smile widening and showing his sharklike teeth. "Let's do it! Think you can send me flying?!"
"Lemme tap you and you'll be on your way, Knifehead." You say, crouching . "Give him hell for what they did last time!"

You stay there for a second, holding onto his ankles until something happens that can give you an advantage.

Soon, Deku's fingers slip and the villain advances, still dragging Shoto by his vest.
So when Daisy pops out from behind him and gets a clean uppercut to his armpit, unleashing an explosion that makes him lose his grip, you smile.

Said smile gets even wider when a silver blurr dashes by, taking your downed friend and speeding away.

Then you unleash your quirk on Kirishima, enlarging him legs first and sending him flying like a rocket at the villain.

With great timing as well, as the villain swiftly swivels on his feet and winds his right arm in Daisy's direction.

Instead of hitting the douchebag, the punch hits the rockhard arm of the mountain sized redhead. The force of the punch is so that even Deku falls on his ass at the shockwave, and Daisy uses both of his hands to compensate, but Kirishima doesn't budge, raising his sharp edged hand and slamming it over the villain, his fingers digging into the ground and immobilizing his foe.

Shoto's safe, the villain seems to be down… Everything seems to be going… as fine as you could expect on a villain attack.
The only problem seems to be on Deku's end, as he doesn't seem able to stand back up.

You warned him, for all the raw power and resistance your quirk grants, it eats at your stamina like fire to a house. But it's not like a warning gave him a better feeling of his own limits, and passing out from hypoglycemia is something you wouldn't wish to anyone.

Thus, you too jump down the hole, sliding and then running towards the battlefield.

>"We have to seize this chance!" You hear Momo shout as she too jumps down, running besides you. "Was this your plan?"
"Sorta? I just thought that if Ah can take a hit while huge, Kirishima oughta be bombproof." You answer, keeping your sight on the fallen giant teenager. "What Deku and Kirishima did with my help they did themselves."

And as if to illustrate your point, the villain takes this chance to pound a fist on the redhead's hand, sending a cascade of new shockwaves through the air and ground.

They seem to be weaker however, if you can take how little debris flies this time as an indicator of their strength.

And much like before, Kirishima doesn't budge, enduring the beating with a craggy smile on his face.

>"Well, regardless of intent, it seems to have worked well enough." Momo comments.
>"Ushiii!!!" Mina shouts next to you, having catched up to the both of you. "You can't just do that and not tell me! I wanted in too!"
>"Not the time, Ashido!" Fumikage says, catching up as well. "There'll be time to bicker when the deed is done!"
>"And to read some actual plays! That wherefore made absolutely no sense!.." Dark Shadow adds, popping out of Fumikage's cloak. "Oh, hi there. Given thought to my offer? I can assure you fluff-face did."
"No!" You shout at the quirk, turning away from it and almost crashing against and speeding Sero.
>"Pretty sure I called this!" Sero tells you with his helmet still on, easily overtaking yo. "I'll go ahead and make sure he can't move, I hope Kirishima doesn't mind!"

With that, he aims his elbow forwards and shoots a strand of tape to Kirishima's shoulder, quickly swinging away.

With a fourth classmate in a minute, you turn your head back for a second.

Practically everyone else is coming, except for Aoyama, Denki and Koda, who look from the ledge. With Shoji, Uraraka and Sato in the back, Kyoka, Toru('s gloves) and Tsu catching up to you, you can see that U.A.'s Class 1-A is not cowed by this villain.
Sure, no one was happy with a second villain attack, but you can't see any doubt on the faces of your classmates. They are going to take care of it.
It may not be because of you, but you can't help feeling a bit proud of your class.

Still, when you get close to the almost still battleground, you turn a sharp left, running not for the villain and the red giant pinning it, but for the fallen giant near them.

>"Are you not coming?" Momo asks as you distance yourself from the forming group.
"I reckon y'all can handle all that." You answer, wiggling your fingers. "I gotta make sure Deku over there doesn't wake up hooked to an I.V. bag"
>"I'm… I'm going too!" Uraraka says panting, separating from the group as well and following you."
"...Alright!" Momo replies, turning her attention back to the villain ahead. "If we can not only subdue the villain, but do so without any other casualties…"

You nod and slow down, now within a couple dozen feet from the boy's face.

He doesn't look too bad. A tad pale, but definitely not in the kind of pain that would tell you he's broken something. But his fingers are still twitching erratically every few seconds, so you have your doubts.

"Time's up, sugar." You tell him, walking up to his face and reaching up to his nose. "I'mma undo this in a sec, how're ya feelin'?"
>"...Hungry, mostly." He says, then smiles. "I also feel like my hands are only full of needles!"
"...The what now?" You ask him. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to hallucinate if he's just about to drop.
>"My fingers felt like they were about to break!" He says, slowly clenching his enormous fists. "But didn't!"
"...That's real nice." You reply unsure before actually tapping him. "I better get ya back to normal before this gets weird. Boop!"

In an instant, his entire body covered in white mist, which quickly flows to and into your hand, disappearing without a trace and leaving a five feet and some inches tall boy laying on the ground.

>"That was amazing!" Uraraka says, crouching and helping Deku back to his feet. "SMASH! SMASH! SMA- Are you okay, Deku?"
"He just needs some sugar in his veins and he'll be fine within the hour." You reassure her, digging into your belt's pouches for the napkin-wrapped block of cornbread you brought from home, enlarging it to the size of the original one back at home and breaking off a piece to hand the boy. "This'll do it."
>"Thanks." The boy says, taking a bite. "...It's pretty good!"
>"Oh! I get it now!" Uraraka says excitedly. "That's why do you always carry some bread!"
"...Yeah." You answer, taking a bite of the remaining delicious cornbread. "Thure. Let'th go with that."

>"Walker!" You hear Iida's call and turn to face him as he arrives walking, carrying your unconscious friend. "His breathing felt normal and I didn't see any obvious hits, but I tried to keep him as stable as possible."

"Thanks, sugar." You tell him after forcing the cornbread down your throat, lifting Shoto off his arms and holding him yourself. A hand under his knees and one between his shoulder blades, then you give the best bow you can with your friend in your arms. "I'll make sure to make it up to ya when things get less hectic."
>"You are welcome." He says with a nod, then looks to the side. To the class surrounding the villain, ready to pounce. "You should take him to the the nurse's office as soon as possible though. Few things keep someone unconscious for this long, and even fewer are good…"
"I'm sure he just needs some rest." You tell him, cursing internally for not thinking about that sooner. "He'll be fine."
>"Now that the villain is captured, we should go ask the teachers to call for help from the school." Uraraka suggests. "Deku says he didn't break his fingers, but it sounds like they cracked to me."
>"I guess that means I can stop feigning." Shoto says, opening his eyes. "I think it also means we passed."

It takes you more than a few seconds to process that development, as you just stare at him.

>"Feigning.. Passing… Are you saying that this is a test? " Deku asks between bites. "A fake villain attack… I was expecting it on the future, but so soon?"
>"What kind of teacher would try to scare us like this!?" Uraraka screams in frustration. "And you participated on it!?"
>"Indeed. All Might asked me to partake in this lesson, he said it would make it feel real." Shoto answers. "He'll probably explain it himself soon, if he's been captured."
>"Since you are well and were merely pretending to be in mortal peril, Shouldn't you stand on your own two feet?" Iida asks, raising an eyebrow.
>"I am very comfortable." He answers. "I will get down when she asks me to."

From the corner of your eye you can see that everyone is now closing in on the villain, who is now waving his arms instead of punching or beating on Kirishima's hide.
What you see of your classmates makes you think they plan to beat him silly.
If that's All Might in a desert raider get-up, he's in for some pain.
He probably can take it, but it'd hurt.

You have been shifting what must be a cumulative total of over a hundred tons today, and with the simulated danger gone, you start to feel it. You are feeling a bit tired, both from the work out and of this test bullshit.

But there's just no point in moping.
Everything went fine, after all.
Not that you don't want to give your dear teacher a piece of your mind for pulling this crap, but the rest has to know as well, and you very much doubt they'll be happy about this either.

You certainly aren't, but you can't just grimace, even if the scare was downright mean, Shoto is safe in your arms.
…Oh.

You quickly slide your arm off his legs and push his back a bit, leaving him standing in front of you and crossing your arms, frowning at him for a tad.

After a couple of seconds of staring at each other, you step closer and jab him in the chest, then throwing your arms around his chest and giving him a hug.

"Don't worry me like that, you dolt." You tell him, doing your best to not hit him with your horn.
>"Okay." He answers, patting your back twice. "I will try to not do it again."
"You better not, pardner." You say, letting go of the hug.

Then a polite cough finally kills the moment.

>"Shouldn't we tell the others before they do something drastic?" Iida asks, motioning to the only remaining giant in the battlefield and the flailing villain.
"Not sure if that would stop anyone." You answer, walking towards most of your class with your tiny group. "But Ah'll make sure whatever grievance they have they tell to his face."
>"Well, it's All Might, right?" Deku asks, receiving a nod from Shoto. "I mean… I'm sure he has good reasons for doing this."
"I dunno sugar, even if he has 'em, it doesn't make it a-okay to spring this on us." You say, resisting the urge to touch your broken horn.
>"I guess I'm just glad it was just a test and not an actual attack." Deku says, scratching the back of his neck.
>"Yeah… But it was just cruel!" Uraraka says. "I'll make him say he won't do it again!"
"Ain't you being a bit soft?" You ask her.
>"Promise, then!" She answers, throwing a fist up.

>"It is his class." Shoto comments.
>"What do you mean, Todoroki?" Iida asks him.
>"In U.A. teachers have total freedom to do as they want on their classes." Shoto reminds you all. "Regardless of our preferences, he is just doing his job as he thinks he is right."
>"Do you agree?" Iida asks.
>"It does not matter if I do or do not agree with this method." Shoto answers. "Just that there's nothing we can do."
>"Actually…" Iida says, swiveling on the balls of his feet and looking at you. "If there was any real problem with the class, the class representants can put forwards a complaint."

Oh god no. No paperwork, please.

"I'm sure we can talk this out, maybe an apology and an explanation will do!" You say nervously.

With Deku as overexerted as he is, you walk rather slowly to the battlefield, but it still doesn't take you more than a minute to get there.

The vill- All Might doesn't look too good, taped and… graped? to the wall of the hole you are all inside of with all of his limbs spread.

"Vell... Ah theem tah be trapped..." All Might says, wiggling his head from side to side. "Ah thurrendah!"
>"He still moves too much." Daisy says as he walks towards the hero-in-villain's-clothes with his right arm up, his glove glowing. "Let me fix that..."
"Hey, Daisy!" You yell at your most violent classmate, running towards him. "Mind if I take the mask before you blow his head off!?"
>"Take your fucking trophy Briskets, and take a pauldron for me." He replies, keeping his aim steady, but not firing. Then he raises his other arm and speaks to All Might. "Stay still, you shitstain, touch the cow and I will blow your fucking head off."

You stomp and huff at that, but try to keep your composure as you reach the restrained fake villain.

"Now hold onto your hats,it's time to see who's under this mask!" You say making a barely passable impression of a cartoon character many times older than you are… and that you still watched in its latest incarnation.

"Phanks, Wakker my girl." All Might mumbles more intelligible as you undo the three straps on the back of his head.

With the straps undone, you pull the mask up, revealing the villain's identity.

"Oh my god, it was Old Man All Might!" You shout, covering your mouth and overacting as much as you can.

"I am here!" The hero shouts with a smile on his face that doesn't fit the situation at all.
>"All Might!!!" Most of your classmates yell in disbelief, causing said hero to… laugh?
"I wanted to include a surprise at the end of this class, with a villain showing up." He explains. "Like what happened the other day. But you did a splendid job, young heroes!.."

First, your classmates just stare slackjawed then, gradually, jaws and fists were clenched.

"...Too much? Too soon?" He asks, lowering his voice volume. "I mean… I'm sorry."

>"YOU WENT OVERBOARD, IDIOT!" Most of your classmates yell at him.

You are actually surprised when out of all people, it's Sero and Hagakure who walk up to him and straight up sock him in the jaw. It doesn't even faze the hero, but it's a good way to tell how mad they are.

>"WHAT! THE! FUCK! WERE! YOU! THINKING!!" Sero shouts, accentuating every word with a punch and finishing with a kick to the shin. "...That was cathartic."

"I'm sorry!" All Might says again, as if that were to fix anything.
>"Too cruel All Might, too cruel!" Mina shouts in his face.
"I'm sorry, it wasn't serious…" All Might says, and to you, that makes it worse.
>"The media is already on U.A's throat! What do you think would have happened if anyone got injured!?" Iida asks him, cleaning the steam off his glasses. "Didn't you stop to think how bad it would be for the school!?"
>"Don't do it again, All Might!" Uraraka admonishes him. "Promise it!"
>"I'm just glad that nobody got injured." Deku says "But…"

You step in this time, throwing the horned mask up and catching it as it falls.

"Why did you do it?" You ask him. "What made you think this in the same ballpark as a good idea?!"

"...Two days ago, you suffered a villain attack." He explains. "You may think that it was an accident, a solitary incident or a coincidence that shouldn't happen again. But it's not"

"Heroes face peril every day, at every hour. Every patrol can be the last, and although it doesn't happen this days, back when I debuted, it was not that uncommon for gangs to try and hunt down the heroes that took down their own." All Might says, deadly serious. It's jarring how the country's N°1 Heroe flips between goofy and intimidating at the drop of a hat. "The dark hand of evil may lurk in every corner, inside your closet or behind your bed, ready to sink its dagger on your back. It's a realization that everyone has and has caused many to drop out of the course in the past. You were caught unawares this wednesday and still pulled through, you took that hand and forced it to drop that dagger!"

"The determination to do so is what I wanted to test here." He finishes "Today, you showed me that wednesday wasn't a fluke, that you are not raw iron to be separated into pig iron and slag. You are shining shields, just waiting to be polished. So what I'm trying to say here is that I have no doubts that each one of you will make a great hero one day."

What follows is a sobering moment of silence, as everyone rumminates the teacher's words carefully…
Until Daisy steps forwards and takes off one of his spiked pauldrons.

>"I'm not afraid." He says. "And one day, I'll be able to take you down alone, just you wait."
"...Does this mean we don't get to take a turn doing search and rescue?" You ask.

The hero looks dumbfounded for a few seconds before answering.

"I had meant to end the class with an analysis of this fight…" All Might says. "I'm sorry if you wanted to try it, but there's not much of the Ruins Zone left, and won't be until Cementoss and Powerloader come rebuild the place next week."

"Dang it." You say, kicking off a bit of dust. "I wanted to show off."
>"I think you already did." Kirishima says, making you look up to the gigantic redhead. "...Do you mind turning me back?
"Oh, sure." You say, taking a knee and placing a hand on the ground before tapping him.

After shrinking Deku you were nearly full again, so you send the extra mass back to the earth this time, returning your friend to his normal size and weight.

Point to the mask "I'm keeping this". Give Bakugo a pauldron like he asked, he was more respectful than normal. Not by another but it's a move the right way.

"...Fine. But I'm keeping this." You say, pointing at the two colored, horned gasmask and sighing. "You know, you could have just told us all that. We would have believed you..."
>"That's what I told him!" No. 13 shouts from edge of the hole. "By the way, great job kids!"
>"I want all of you to know that I didn't approve of this." Mr. Aizawa adds. "It is, from beginning to end, his responsibility."

You look at Daisy, holding the huge pauldron and looking at it, and think about the fight for a moment.
He did most of the job, distracting the villain, breaking his grip on Shoto's vest and kinda… sorta, guarding you.
So you unstrap All Might's other pauldron and take it.

"...Are you going to take all my gear?" All Might asks in a tone that sounds like the midway point between curiosity and sadness.

"Howdya think katanas and lugers got to america? We like our loot." You reply, flipping the thing and looking at it from every angle. "I swear there's a version of the president's seal with a magpie innit."

It's nothing special, beyond being All Might's.
He'll let it get to his head, but you aren't sure if you could make his ego worse if you tried, so credit where credit is due.

"Here, as you asked." You say, walking to the ashen blonde with the pauldron on your hand.
>"Got lame or something?" He asks, showing you the one he has. "I already got one."
"Here's the full set, then." You answer, shoving it into his hands. "You were the best and not so much of a pain, so take the fucking trophy."
>"Damn right." He says with a nod, taking both spiked pauldrons by their straps and taking a few quick jabs at the air before looking back at you and the mask in your hands. "Yeah, I guess I did do at least twice as much as you did."

You take that as your signal to turn around and walk away from him.
There's literally nothing you can say now that wouldn't either make things worse or lower your own dignity, so nothing it is.

"...May anyone help me out?" All Might asks, struggling against his bindings. "I'd rather not collapse the wall or end naked."
>"Oh! Oh! I'll got this!" Mina says, hopping towards All Might and placing a hand on one of Mineta's grapes.

You were about to congratulate her for trapping herself when the sphere turned brown and fell, splashing against the ground and bursting into a puddle of unknown liquid.
...Huh. They can be destroyed.
Then again, you have no idea how destructive Mina's acid can be, but your guess keeps getting higher.

>"Walker, come help me down." Mr. Aizawa asks, sitting on the edge of the hole and trying to slowly slide down.

It's odd that he asks specifically for you, but you go anyway, there's something you need to ask him anyway.

>"Do you still want to deal with Bokusa after class?" He asks as soon as you get near him.
"...I'll do it. I don't want to deal with it later." You answer, throwing his 'good' arm around your neck and pulling him down slowly. "So, you knew about this Mr. Aizawa? Is that what you meant this morning?"
>"Indeed." He answers, getting his arm away from you. "But as I said, I didn't approve it. It may have worked out, but it was an unnecessary gamble."
"Someone might have been injured with that much debris flying around." You guess. "Or think that when the… inevitable next attack happens, it's just a teacher in a suit and mask"
>"Those are some possibilities." He says, nodding. "Three years is almost too little time to form the heroes society expects from U.A., we don't have time to heal any more psychological scarring than necessary."
"Huh..." You just stare at him, unsure about those priorities.
>"Our concern about your safety should be…" He tells you, slightly raising his 'bad' arm. "Rather self evident, if that's what you were thinking about."
"Sorry." You apologize with a small bow, turning to look back at Japan's N°1 Hero being freed by a teen girl.
>"I'll wait for you after class at the teacher's lounge." The teacher says as he too looks at the odd spectacle.

It only takes her a couple of minutes to release the bound teacher, and she manages to leave very few holes on his suit. It's enough time to allow everyone to gather around All Might, even those who stayed behind in the fight.

You spend the rest of the class analyzing the fight itself with All Might and your classmates, with the occasional input from No. 13 and corrections from Mr. Aizawa.

It's mostly about what the villain did wrong, like starting a fight while outnumbered instead of culling your numbers and how'd you do it in his shoes.
Turns out, that if anyone in the class had to plan the next villain attack, your and Momo's head's would be the first ones to roll.
>>
>"Well…I think it's because of the impression you made wednesday." Tsu tries to explain why her first action would be breaking your necks. "Today everyone rallied behind Momo without thinking about it, and we took down All Might. The league of villains didn't get that far. Ribbit."
>"It pains me to think this about my own classmates." Iida says, fixing his glasses with one hand and placing the other over his chest. "Our class representatives are both too flexible to plan for, strong and have served as our leaders in times of crisis. That makes them obvious first targets for anyone wicked enough to try to murder high schoolers."
>"Kill the buffers, debuffers and healers first." Daisy adds. "It's how it's always been."
>"I know it's the right choice but it feels dishonorable." Kirishima comments looking unsure. "But I guess that wouldn't stop villains…"
>"I guess I should feel flattered." Momo… states, before turning to you. "I'll have to admit I didn't give much thought to your quirk's ability to enhance other's combat power."
"I prefer going at it mahself, really." You reply. "If only Ah can undo it, then Ah'm the only one who can use it safely, not bein' your quirk the strain might kill ya… Heck, it is mah quirk and Ah still get some mighty strong feedback when I pull that for long."

"Yet you facilitated my capture without attempting to trade blows." All Might remarks. "Why was that?"

You ponder on it for a second before explaining your train of thought, pointing at the boys you willingly made grow.

"Deku is one of our strongest brawlers, but every time he uses that mighty super strength of his, he breaks somethin'" You tell both the teachers and the class. "And Kirishima has, Ah think, the toughest hide of y'all."

You then place your palms together and separate them slowly.

"So Ah thought to mahself, 'If Deku's bone's were larger, they just might take the recoil! And 'If Kirishima already can take a blow from Nomu and well, live, a thicker hide should let him shrug off tank rounds!'" You explain. "I also thought about trying to enlarge D- Bakugo's bracers and the sweat inside to send you flyin'... then I ran the math."
>"...Just how much can you enlarge something?" Daisy asks, his interest picked.
"About twenty eight tons by mahself." You answer smugly, pulling up your belt buckle. "If Ah'm touchin' somethin' else too, then as much as Ah can get before Ah tire mahself."
>"That would have vaporized everything in a nearly six kilometers long cone." He deadpans. "I guess two weren't enough for you."
"Well…" You say, petting the mask like a cat. "I wouldn't have gone all out! Ah know when there's one too many tons of TNT."
>"Thank you for not killing us and a sizable area of the Greater Tokyo Metropolitan Area." Shoto says, without a sign of sarcasm.

"...Let's go back to what I intended to talk about." All Might says, reeling the conversation back. "While heroes need to be able to stand alone, never forget the cornerstone of the Hero Network. No matter how strong a single hero is, there are some jobs that simply require more hands on deck, be it to compensate for your own weaknesses or to counter the enemy's' strengths. Linking back to this test, think of young Walker's actions as well as those of my boy Midoriya, you managed to pin and distract me enough to create an opening for young Bakugo to strike at my shoulder and give young Iida a chance to recover the hostage, allowing young Kirishima, bolstered by young Walker as well, to capture me despite my reasonable attempts at breaking free."

"Or Denki and Momo's long range taser." You add, picturing in your mind both iterations of the gizmo and then pointing not "It wouldn't have gone well for Denki to get close to use his quirk, and it would have hit Shoto as well, but Momo's cannon gave him a shot from a safe range. But being only one, it was thanks to Sero holding you still for a second that it worked!"

Sero finally takes off his helmet at your words, showing everyone his wide, simple grin.

>"Yeah, it felt nice." He says, holding the helmet under his arm. "But you broke out of my strongest tape in seconds."

"Some quirks are more suitable for front line combat than others, but utility quirks often tip the scales in their teams favor, Sero my boy. Your tape may not make the strongest bindings, but imagine if you had fought by my side, if you had stopped young Bakugo's footwork for even one second, this exercise would have played out in a completely different way!" All Might reassures him before concluding. "I'd like for you to think of ways to work together during the weekend, young ones. Who knows, your lives may depend on each other when you graduate, or some of you might want to start an office as a team."

After that, the whole class is herded by the teachers back to the bus, but the ride back is nowhere as tense as the previous one.

Despite what you all feared sort-of happening, everyone is merrier.

Sero and Kirishima happily chatted about the fight, and seemingly wondering if launching Kirishima into the fray would be just 'the manliest thing ever' or just 'pretty damn cool'.
You and Momo talk about possible team ups in disaster zones, as making shelters and any kind of quick infrastructure would be a piece of cake for both of you working together.
You even heard Shoji, Kyoka and Toru talk about the possibility of working together to both locate victims in disasters and to find and take out villains stealthily.

Even it was just a test, you can't help but feel the same swelling pride in your heart that the rest of the class seems to be feeling. You took down All Might!..
You just hope nobody lets it get to their head.

You also hope that the support company that works with the school is done by next week, you think as change with the rest of the girls. You need a hat!.. And you'd really feel safer in your fireproof costume...

You don't let it hamper your spirits though!
You'll probably just leave the mask in your room when you finally get back to the house, but for now, you carry it around by hand spinning the thin even during the last five minutes of classes, when Mr. Aizawa read out the day's final announcements before leaving the classroom for the last time this week.

The only moment you left it alone was when you let the trophy sit on your desk as you fixed your backpack, and that didn't last long either, as you ended shoving in everything that fit when you heard Uraraka's surprised voice at the door.

>"What the heck!?" You hear Uraraka say, causing you to pick up your things and scramble to the classroom's massive doorway.

It's fairly obvious what surprised her so.
There's easily thirty unknown student's crowding the exit, many of them holding up phones.

"...Howdy." You say with a small wave, before turning back to your classmates. "Lotsa folk out here, any idea why?"
>"Try ruminating on it before talking, Briskets. They are scouting the competition." Daisy says, looking at the crowd outside with openly shown contempt. "They wanna see the class who came through a villain attack, to see how they'd fare against us in the festival, bimbo."
"...Do you actually need to end sentences in insults?" You comment as he walks out the door and faces the crowd.

He stands just outside the door, looking straight ahead.

>"Fuck off, you aren't going to get anything." He 'calmly' tells the crowd. "Damn rabble."
"And Ah used to believe Ah was bad at making pals..." You say, sighing and pulling down the brim of your hat, hiding your face.

You missed having a hat on, even if emoting with it didn't let you see where did the disheveled student pushing his way to the front came from.

>"You are right, I came to see what you are made of." He says, scratching the back of his neck. "But I expected... better, I guess. Are all the kids in the heroics classes this way?"

He then shrugs and waves his arm around, as if showing you the crowd.

>"General Studies, Support and Business too… There's lots of kids in each that settled for that after failing the heroics entrance exam. It makes the Sports Festival quite a chance, what with the possibility of getting transferred to heroics if you score high enough. Of course, the opposite can also happen…" He says, glaring slightly in your general direction, at you, Daisy and whoever may be looking from behind. "What I'm saying is this, as a General Studies kid, I'll try my best to pull the rug from under your feet while you are on your high horses. Consider it my declaration of war."

My suggestion would be more going to a tangent about wanting to prove that Ushi is more then a piece of meat. Or so she wouldn't loose her place as a hero and the friends she made here.

Something like i dunno. "Never a cow again". So she won't be ignored disrespected.
>>
>>2270155

Sure, why not.
>>
>>2270176
I think that yours is kinda too general.
We can make the relationship "Safety of our friends" which would include people like Pony and Yaoi hands
>>
>>2270182
>Safety of our friends
Well what about the dice we have with Shouto or the girls from the class? What does make a person our friend? Because i wouldn't consider Bakugou our friend just a college.

You know, the mask is actually pretty cool looking. Maybe we should miniaturize it and keep it around for use as an actual gas mask. Assuming it's functional and not just a costume.

Ooh, maybe we could put it on a key chain or something.

No because the hair style is completely different.

I think the cones are a reference for the blast radius that a the giant bakugou could do.

Obviously the cone is the blast radius.
But I also thought he was using word play to insult Ushi's breasts

There's lots of things you could tell this kid…
But there's no reason to escalate the situation, and there's no way you'll try to make amends with strangers for surviving!
So you try to be neutral.

"Declaration of war? Fine, we'll all do our best too. The best will rise to the top, regardless of class, it's a just contest of physical fitness and skill after all." You declare, shrugging. "Like the entrance exam. Our entrance exam, rather. Nothing you can't do if you try."
>"So you are saying that we didn't try hard enough." The sleepy looking student says, looking over his shoulder to the crowd behind him. "I'm not the only one who heard that, right?"
"Pretty much, yeah." You confirm, looking around for anyone you might recognize. "Everyone I've known in both hero courses busted their asses to get in. Ain't I right, Tetsutetsu!? You scored over me in the top ten in the exam!"

>"YEAH! I mean, I too came to see what happened with you all after the ambush!" The gray haired boy barks, shoving his way to the front of the crowd and standing in front of the purple haired and dishevelled student that star-continued all this. "But don't you diss the hero courses If you didn't make the cut! If you think you can go toe to toe to those who did, just go and do it! Don't insult forty kids for one foul-mouthed dolt!"

He then swivels in place and point at Daisy's face.

>"And you, punk who can't use a blasted belt! I know there's some decent people in your class, so don't you go being an embarrassment for both classes! You are giving us a bad rap!"

Then Daisy fixes his bag's straps and walks out of the classroom, ignoring the crowd.

>"Hey bastard, I'm talking to you!" Tetsutetsu shouts at Daisy. "I TRIED TO BE NICE YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"

"Welp!" You say, donning your backpack and following the constant bother that is Bakugo, throwing your arms up. "You had to do it! Even the nice ones will hate us now!"
>"You did half the job pissing off the NPCs." He says turning his head back to face you. "Not that it matters."
>"Why did you have to turn the rest of the freshmen against us?!" Kirishima asks, and you get the sinking feeling he's not only talking to Daisy. "Now they'll all will try to knock us down!"
>"It doesn't matter." Daisy says, actually looking calm for once and starting to walk away once more. "Once you are at the top, none of that matters."
>"Oh man…" Kirishima says… shaking? "So simple… So… Manly!"
>"In a way, he is right." Fumikage says, thinking outloud. "In reaching the top, you are inevitably crushing the dreams of everyone else who wanted to be there."
>"Now have tons of new enemies for literally no reason!" Denki says, dragging his hand down his face.

You can squeeze a few minutes if you want to, now that classes are over...

Today's been a… kinda good day.
But yesterday was a nice day, if partly by force.

Many of your friends were concerned about your wellbeing, and let you know via texts…

And you didn't reply to any of them, wanting a calm and fun day that wasn't about recalling the hellish previous day.

Considering you spend most of the day with your classmates, you figure they can see that you are over it…
Although resigned to fate would be a better descriptor, but that's just not the sort of image you try to present.

But your Class B friends you left in the dark as Tetsutetsu incidentally reminded you, not even showing up to their table as you had done the last few days!

Nothing that some goodwill can't fix, hopefully.

So you raise your chin and strut away from the crowd, not cowering at their glares, and go deeper into the hallway than you've ever been, hoping to find Classroom 1-B before your friends go home.

Turns out it's the next door, if the sign next to the equally massive doorway is telling the truth.

>"...ight team, that'd be all for today. Thanks for helping us clean this place, I'm sure Mr. Kan will appreciate it!" You hear a boy's voice say inside the classroom.
>"No problem, Pres! Just… Get off before you leave prints on that." You hear Itsuka reply.

Having confirmed that at least one of your friends is still in there you step in, looking at an exact replica of classroom 1-A.

...But Itsuka is the only one person you recognise of the students in the room.

Standing on the teacher's desk is a pale boy with pale blonde hair with a hand on his hip, holding up a broom as if it was a sabre.

>"Mr. Kan wouldn't appreciate the dirtying of his desk." A green… haired?.. girl remarks.

Her hair being green is not hard to believe, what you have trouble discerning is if it's actually hair or not. Everything but where it is, from the sight to the smell says plant…

Then you start wondering if it's just a mutation or her quirk.

And then you hear a painfully fake cough and turn to the back of the classroom.

>"I have no idea who you are, nor why are you in our classroom. But you should get out before someone ends up hurt." The… Blackest boy you've ever seen says, scowling. "You'll cause an accident. Shoo. Go back to whence you came from."

"Beg your pardon?" You ask him, a bit irritated.

>"I'm afraid you must forgive Kuroiro, he is a bit rough around the edges." The unknown girl says. "But you are standing on the doorway."

>"I really want to put this away and go home." The boy in question says, raising a yellow bucket full of dirty water.

"Oh, sorry. " You apologize, stepping inside the room and letting the boy and his bucket step out.

>"Yeah, whatever." He says, heading off to the supplies closet.

>"Ushi? What are you doing here?" Itsuka asks, turning to look at you.

>"That's rude, Kendo." The pale desk jockey chides her. "You can't go around calling people names like that."

"That's my name, though. Walker Ushi, class 1-A. Howdy." You tell him, introducing yourself to the two strangers. I came here looking for Itsuka and Pony. I think Ah'm in the right place, but where's Pony?"

>"Oh. My bad then. Welcome to my classroom, Walker I'm Honenuki Juzo, and I've heard one or two things about you." The boy says, jumping off the desk. "Pony… Tsunotori! Right! She bolted out the instant class was over, something about waiting a delivery, I think."

Drat. You hoped to see both of them at once.
But you should consider yourself lucky Itsuka stayed behind to help clean up.

>"Tsunotori is a cheerful, kind and helpful soul, but she can be hard to understand at times. Most of them, really." The green haired girl says. "Oh, forgive me, Shiozaki Ibara. Pleased to meet you."

>"Yeah, that's Pony. Took me awhile to get her to understand how some things are done around here, but she's eager to learn." Itsuka says. "I can't really comment on injuries on body parts that I've never had, but, for all it's worth, I'm sorry for your injury."

What's with Japan and people apologizing for things they have no control over?

"Nice to meet y'all. I hope you've been told only good things." You tell your new acquaintances before turning back to your friend and waving her concerns away. "Thanks, but it's not like I've been crippled or anything, I'll be fine. It'll grow back… in time."

>"Are you sure? Pony made it look pretty serious." She insists, staring at you, straight into your eyes.

It's not hostile or abrasive, just a question born of care.
It makes it much more difficult to lie to her face…
So you don't try to, instead telling her the truth.

"There's a bit of nerve damage." You answer, then sigh. "But it's done and short of chopping it down to skull level and hoping it grows back matching the other, that won't change…"

You drag your finger from the base to it's still jagged, broken tip.
It still feels alien, feeling only the feedback on your finger and skull, like it was an accessory…

Then flick it softly and yank your hand back to your side.

"So I'm trying to not think about it too much. Kinda hard when it tips me to the left." You finish with a small joke and a shrug. "After all, if I need help with the impossible, I guess I'll kneel and pray."

>"Well, if you ever think you need to talk about it or anything else, you can always ring me up." Itsuka says with a smile. "I can always make time for a chat and a cup of java."

>"I hope the Lord grants you the peace you need, and the blessing you ask for." Shiozaki says, folding her hands as if in prayer.

>"I'm almost certain I shouldn't be butting in, but I'm glad you are okay." Honenuki says, walking and coming to stand next to Itsuka.

>"Some of my classmates are somewhat… bitter about the nonstop coverage the media has given the incident and your class, with the news saying over and over to keep an eye on Class 1-A, they think the scouting pros will ignore them…"

He drags a hand through his hair as he speaks…
Damn, he's cute.

>"But personally, I'd like nothing more than a friendly yet serious competition between all of us freshmen. I'm fairly confident we can match and beat all of you, so I hope you too are ready to try your best." He finishes with a sharp nod.

>"If you don't remember from when we last talked, Honenuki is our class' president and is also our recommended student. He makes the rest of us look bad." Itsuka says, pointing at the boy in question. "So… Wanna walk to the train station together?"

"Sorry, can't do. I have something to take care of before going back to the house." You explain with a sad expression on your face. "I only passed by to speak to you and Pony..."

>"If you need to talk to Pony, you can always call her, you know." She tells you

You pinch the bridge of your nose and dig out your phone from your pocket.

"No idea how, but I forgot I could do that." You tell her, half joking. "I don't have any plans for my birthday, I haven't even asked anything to my parents, so if you want to crash in, we can figure something out. Just a warning, I can't bake."

>"You are as clueless as Pony was. You are turning sixteen! Just kick back and let your friends surprise you." She tells you. "And if you want my opinion… ask for a bike. It's what I'll try to get when mine hits."

"I'll think about it. Just… don't try putting a bag over my head or something like that." You reply, starting to walking away.

>"See you around!" Honenuki says, waving and somehow managing a grin-ier grin.

You start wondering if being good looking was an actual requirement to get a recommendation, as three out of three is sort of a pattern.

Bad news, I forgot about the Heavy Motorcycle class and requirements. A Royal Star has a 1,294cc engine. That puts it in the Heavy Motorcycle (anything over 400cc) class, which Ushi will need to be 18 to get licensed for.

"See ya!" You say as you walk out of their classroom, waving.

You've never seen where the teacher's lounge is, but seeing as all the teachers come from and leave through the same hallway for a few days gave you a pretty good idea of where to look.

And if you get lost, the school app's map should get you back on track in no time.

You look around for a second to make sure you aren't standing in anybody's way this time and down at your phone, sliding your thumb around the screen for a few seconds, looking up Pony's contact info and calling.

Considering how huge the school is, with it's multiple buildings just in the main site, you are fairly confident you can get a few minutes of friendly chatting even if you don't slow down.

If she picks up, that is.

Lucky for you, she doesn't take more than a few tones to pick up the call.

>"<Ushi! Hi! I hadn't heard of you in days! How have you been?!>" She says in your native english the instant the call connects, starting the call with a guilt jab to the gut.

"<Sorry about that… Needed a day to sort myself out but I'm fine now, it's sort of what I wanted to talk about.>" You explain yourself "<But when I came to your classroom to talk to you and Itsuka, barely anyone was there anymore!>

>"<Oh yeah… I kinda galloped away when the bell rang. I needed to make get back to my apartment for....>

She nervously drags the last word for a couple of seconds, thinking her words through.

>"<...Reasons. So! How have you been? If you are up and about I guess it'll grow back just fine, right? I hope it won't take too long!"> She asks in a hopeful tone that begs you for reassurance.

More than anyone else but your family, and maybe Mina, Pony is the one person you know of that could actually imagine how it felt then and how it feels now.
It also means that she'd notice eventually if you tried to lie.
Another reason to not lie to her, after 'she's literally the first friend you've made.'

"<Not 'Just fine', Pony...> You say, then you take a minute to tell her all about it, the pain then and the dead weight now.

>"<That's just not fair, they are part of who we are...>" She comments after listening to your sorry tale. <"One thing is not being born with tail or hooves… But losing them?.. I can't… I literally can't even!">
"<Hey now… I'm fine! Besides, it's no use crying over spilled milk!>" You joke into the phone.

That kind of joke would have gotten an eyeroll out of you and maybe a huff if you were feeling grumpy, but she seems to find it funny.

>"<At least you are coming to terms with it…>" She says between giggles.

Then she starts whispering, forcing you to up the volume of your phone.
>>
>"<Now… This is supposed to be a surprise, and I can't tell you the specifics…>" She pauses and sighs. "<I can't unhurt you, and I wish I could, but I think I can help you set things right! Tomorrow, you'll forget that ever happened.>"

She may be trying to keep it a secret, but she's pretty much confirming to you she's working on your party. Maybe it'll be at her apartment? It's make sense for a small gathering. Cozy.
You like cozy.

"<Thanks, for whatever you are doing." You sincerely tell her. Even if she just brought a box full of party hats, you'd still receive her with a hug and a smile.

>"<Don't sweat it, It's the least I can do, and I'm sure you'd do the same for me.>" She replies, verbally waving you off. "<It's our Cow and Pony show, remember?>"

"<How could I forget it?.. Oh crap. Gotta hang up, bye.>" You answer, suddenly stopping on your tracks, as a sign on the wall tells you that you've reached your destination.

That, and the lanky man sleeping in the yellow sleeping bag leaning on the wall next to it.

>"<Oh, bye then! See you tomo-!>" You manage to hear her say before hanging up and pocketing your phone.

'Now, how does one wake up a teacher?..' You ask yourself, grabbing your chin and staring at him for a few seconds.

>"Are you done yet?" Mr. Aizawa suddenly asks, opening an eye. "I know teenagers will keep trying to sneak glances at their phones if forced to leave them, but I'd like you to focus on the task at hand, then we'd all be able to leave sooner."

"'yuup, all done!" You answer, patting your uniform's pocket. "So, how we doing this thing?"

>"I sent word to the police, and they transferred Bokusa to the nearest police station for your convenience. So we'll meet him there along with some officers and a physician keeping watch over him." The teacher explains as he shimmies out of his bag.

"...Wait, for my convenience? What does that mean?" You ask.

>"A student getting injured on school grounds during an ambush is one thing. An american citizen being injured by a prisoner under police custody would be a major source of problems for everyone involved, so they want you to use your quirk and get out as soon as possible." He explains, opening the lounge's door and kicking the bag in. "Let's get going, it's within walking distance, so we'll walk. If you have any other questions, I'd rather answer them on the way."

"Uh. How thoughtful." You comment, following the teacher and thinking about every question you can.

Turns out the years Mr. Aizawa told you a couple of days ago are only for the charges he's sure Bokusa will face, but it's highly probable that the prosecutor will try to add more and harder to prove charges.

Also, apparently once you are arrested in Japan, especially if a hero did the arresting, it's about how long you'll stay behind bars, not if. You aren't exactly happy about that.

Guilty until proven innocent feels like cheating for everyone involved.

After half an hour of walking through the streets of Musutafu under the invigorating spring sun, and wondering how your Homeroom teacher doesn't suffer from heatstroke in his black suit, you reach a rather small two stories tall concrete building, painted white and blue and emblazoned with the police's logo.

It doesn't look like it could host more than half a dozen cops, at most!

Even when you enter, the place screams 'neighborhood police box', as it feels rather cramped with only about dozen people inside.

>"Eraserhead? Are you here with the girl? I didn't think you could convince her." One of the officers asks as he approaches both of you, a young man with shoulder length black hair, carrying a clipboard under his arm.

>"She decided to do it, I didn't have to do anything special." Mr. Aizawa replies.

"Wouldn't be very heroic of me to let him get away, wouldn't it?" You add.

>"Okay then, I'll just need to fill up some papers and we can get this done and send you home by dinner. First up, what's your name?" The officer asks you, bringing up his clipboard.

You sigh and start reciting your personal information.
Paperwork filled by someone else is almost as bad as normal paperwork.

>"Well, that'd be all. Follow me." The young officer says, motioning with his hand after you finish.
He leads you and your teacher deeper into the building, down a short hallway and up to a big windowless and slightly rusty metallic door, with a fingerprint scanner next to it

>"It may be a bit... overkill, but it's the smallest common cell size." He excuses himself as he presses his finger on the scanner and opens the door. "Don't worry about him getting up, no jail doc wanted to try fixing his hip at that size if they could help it, and he's not walking as it is. The other officers are here as a show of force rather than any actual security, not that we could do anything a pro hero couldn't do..."

The cell stinks like burnt tires and hair, but seems to be mostly empty.

On one corner, trying to sit on a tiny bed and twitching in pain, is the one man who managed to hit you in the ambush, and cause of pain and concern ever since, his head burning still.

>"I'm right behind you, Walker." Mr. Aizawa says, placing a hand on your shoulder. "All you have to do is return him to normal, then we can leave."

You look at Bokusa once more, and his flame suddenly goes out, courtesy of Mr. Aizawa, you guess.

It’s a good question. What drives a man to the point he’d attack children? What could have prevented him from going down this path?

Plus, maybe this’ll help Ushi get a little closure too.

>[Get there, tap him and ask "Why did you do it?"]
>>
Guys, Talking to this guy, understanding him and trying to make him not a bad guy is what All Might would do. We have a unique opportunity to make someone better, rather than preventing harm.
>>
>>2277457
Anoon, this guy was perfectly willing to murder children, gleefully. This isn't some dumb kid from a bad neighborhood robbing a liquor store, this guy's a fucking killer. Maybe he could have been helped years ago, but in order to be better a person has to WANT to change.
>>
>>2277418
>[Get there, tap him and ask "Why did you do it?"]
>>
>>2277457
Nah, fuck that. Let the murder go to jail and be forgotten. Don't have time for his shit.
>>
>>2277418
>>[Get there, tap him and get out. Quick and simple.]
ANYTHING ELSE WILL NEED A FACE ROLL YOU FOOLS
>>
>>2277457
Next time you will say we try to fix Shigaraki. Nah man this guy is way beyong salvation. Also i would rather be a hero like Aizawa think it would be more in Ushi's character.
>>
>>2277465
We don't know that. We don't know what Shiggy promised these people.
And we beat him up.
If we can get him thinking of a making a change, that's more good for the world. At it's not like its risking anything. If he's not remorseful, then he gets locked up.
>>
>>2277418
>[Get there, tap him and ask "Why did you do it?"]
>>
>>2277465
Maybe having his hip broken into three places and sitting on it for two days has made him re-evaluate his life choices? We won't know anything about what makes a man do those things unless we ask.

Like, the one guy in the spin-off started out as a molester and now he's working against villains.

Worst case scenario Aizawa is here.
>>
>>2277483
Aizawa is hurt and he suffer frim dry eye let's not be a bother to our teacher.
>>
>>2277468
We have literally nothing else to do today. Why not at least hear him out instead of just dismissing him?

>>2277476
Shiggy told us his moties. He's fucked up and should be locked up. This is just a thug with unknown motives. Once he gives them, i'll be comfortable just dismissing him.
>>
>>2277481
>We don't know that.
He participated in an attack on a school full of kids, with the directly stated goal of luring out and murdering a national hero. He attacked three teenage girls who were fleeing for their lives. That's not a mere case of bad life choices anon.
>Like, the one guy in the spin-off started out as a molester and now he's working against villains.
Molesting people on a train is not on the same level as murder. It's wrong, it's scummy, but it's not the premeditated ending of a human life.
And while it's true that the perfect heroic ideal probably WOULD try to understand and help this guy, Ushi's not there yet. She's just a teenager, still getting the hang of this hero stuff, and this guy very nearly killed her the other day.
>>
>>2277487
I think that there is nothing to gain from talking to this dude. He's not going to be able to give Ushi any closure. I just see her coming out of that exchange for the worse. If it wins the vote fine, but I'm not going to support it.
>>
>>2277418
>[Get there, tap him and ask "Why did you do it?"]

He's probably just a psycho, but I'd like to see what he says. Aizawa is right there and we're in a police station. Also, his hip's still broken. We're safe.
>>
>>2277513
If we convince him to cooperate with the police, he might help put shiggy to justice.
Since there is no possible downside, there is no reason to try.

>>2277497
Kids want to know the why of everything. Teenagers as well. Especally when it involves them. Asking why is a reasonable question to be expected of anyone.
>>
>>2277535
You forget the part were we need to roll for that and Ushi doesn't have the stas to manage to do it.
>>
>>2277457
Eh, I think it's a tough call. On one hand, you're basically right. The heroic thing to do would be to sit down and talk it out. It's what a hero-in-training SHOULD do. On the other hand, Ushi is a maimed teenage girl and this guy is the perpetrator. She's already doing the right thing by being here and undoing her own vengeance. I'm reluctant to strain her further. Plus there's other considerations, like Aizawa and the police's time or the possibility and consequences of failing a face roll.

For me, the emotional strain and practical issues lean me towards getting this over with, even if it'd be an interesting exchange.

I'm talkin' about this guy.

Besides, as far as we know Matchsticks hasn't actually killed anyone.
>>
>>2277543
If we fail the face roll, then he gets big, he doesn't change, and is sent to jail.
We succeed, and good stuff happens.
It's not a gamble if we aren't risking anything.

>>2277551
I think Ushi is a capable of handling it and doing the heroic thing in the moment. She might start crying a little after the fact, but right now, when she's looking the perp in eye, she can handle the situation.
>>
>>2277418
>[Get there, tap him and ask "Why did you do it?"]
>>
>>2277556
Didn't kill anyone because we punched the shit out of him. And you forget what Fireproof claw said that he was the less dangerous one since all the others were pyromaniacs. This guy can't be saved by simply talking.
>>
>>2277571
Seems a waste of time for a useless thing. He is a goons he broke the law now he's being punished because of it. Simple.
>>
>>2277580
Burning things and burning people are different things. Being a pyromaniac doesn't make you a murderer. He could just be an arsonist with plenty of assault charges.
>>
>>2277585
It might not be that simple. He's got a fire mutation. He might be influenced by his body to burn things the same way we're inclined to moo.
>>
>>2277571
We're both hinging our arguments on the consequences of a theoretical face roll. You hold that the reward outweighs the risk and I hold the opposite. Either way, we're getting ahead of ourselves. We shall see how the anons decide, how Mic interprets, and how the dice gods judge.
>>
>>2277618
What risk? what could happen if we fail the face roll?
>>
>>2277587
>Being a pyromaniac doesn't make you a murderer.

You are right but that does make him a criminal. So he gets to go to jail.

>>2277601
So you are saying that his physical mutation forces him to have a need to burn things? Okay still not something a school girl should be doing that is for a physician or psychologist should do.
>>
>>2277627
No-one is saying he doesn't go to jail.
It's about influencing how he acts in jail. Whether he tries to be someone better, or be a career criminal.
>>
>>2277629
I think you are complicating things. If he doesn't become a better person we just put him back in jail.
>>
>>2277644
Wow. What a hero. just keep the cycle of violence going.
No problem can't be solved by beating it up.
Not like taking 5 minutes now can save a lot of grief in the future.
>>
>>2277621
All sorts of shit. There's no such thing as a riskless roll and Ushi's made a fool of herself in a variety of ways. Looking like a jackass in front of Aizawa and a bunch of cops is the statistically likely outcome and it sounds like a bad way to cap off a stressful situation. Sure it's not a disaster, but it's not like we're gonna turn his life around better than an actual therapist either.
>>
>[Get there, tap him and get out. Quick and simple.]
>>
>>2277671
Hey heads up buddy we ain't a hero yet. We are a kid that is studying to be one. Besides not everyone can be saved and as i stated it isn't our job to convince this guy. That is for the physicians and psychologist. Since he's a pyromaniac they will just pump him up full of meds and let him rot in a high security asylum.
>>
>>2277671
Calm down, All Might. We can't all auto-pass face rolls like you. Sometimes heroes are just the guys slapping the cuffs on.
>>
>>2277677
We can lay the groundworks. And if all that happens is that the cops and Aizawa see us wasting time trying to talk a villain into reforming, they're not really going to judge us, and it's not really much of a consequence.

Do you honestly think Aizawa would think less of us because we try to talk to this guy?

>>2277700
Butting you nose in is one of the principle qualities of being a hero
Hero is not just a job, but a state of mind. Just because we're not licensed doesn't mean we shouldn't do the right thing.

>>2277704
>Can't gurantee success
>Let's not try then
>>
>>2277726
The right thing to do is doing what was asked of us and let the pro-heroes and the police do their jobs.
>>
>>2277418
>[Get there, tap him and ask "Why did you do it?"]
Can't save people you don't understand, or somesuch
>>
>>2277733
Except we can do so much more in this one instance than the cops can.
There is a world of difference between being asked by the cops why you did what you did to some person you'll never see again, and being confronted by your victim and asked to explain yourself, to rationalize what you did, looking at the consequences of your actions, having to consider what could have been if you weren't stopped.
>>
>>2277782
Well i disagree and i think we will need to be satisfied in agree in to disagree.
>>
>>2277726
>Do you honestly think Aizawa would think less of us because we try to talk to this guy?

Possibly, because a failed face roll is a failed face roll. All sorts of shit could happen. Neither you nor I have control over what the failure entails. Your assurances that there's no real risk are meaningless to the actual outcome and reflect a biased consideration of possible consequences.

THAT SAID, I can live with either outcome. I do appreciate possibility of being genuinely heroic here, even if I'm troubled by its likelihood.
>>
>>2277418

Seeing him like this…
It's pitiful.

Not that you don't want him to face justice for his actions, you wouldn't be here if that were the case.

No, it's just the realization that behind the villain, the thug, there's a person.

This man had parents and friends, some level of education…

Such are the thoughts that run inside your skull as you walk towards him, a hand on your hip and one stretched out, shrinking yourself just enough to get all five fingers touching him with a pat on the shoulder, ready to tap him and return him to normal as fast as your quirk allows you to, nausea be damned.

You are still three times bigger than he is by the time you reach his tiny corner, just in time to see him give up on his attempts at sitting and fall to his side.

Even as you timidly close the last yard, he still doesn't look at you, staring directly at the floor.

But you came here with your mind made, so you take one more step and give him a light tap, willing both of you to return to your normal sizes, taking care to oversize the bed to grow along with him instead of making him fall on the concrete floor.

You are not that petty.

>"That's it, we are done here. Now step away from him and we can let the system take care of this." Mr. Aizawa calls from behind you.

You are certainly going to get into trouble for this, but you need to know.

"...Why did you do it?" You ask the criminal, nervously scratching your ear.

>"Go away." He answers, waving a hand in your direction but still not bothering to look at you.

"Not until you tell me." You say even as you take a step back. For all your bravado, you aren't going to let him touch you if you can help it.

>"Why do you even care? Just let me rot." Bokusa says, letting his hand dangle off the side of the bed.

>"Walker, stop harassing the prisoner and walk out. I can only erase quirks for so long." Mr. Aizawa insists. "If you continue, I'll drag you out myself."

"I just… I just need to understand! What makes a person try to kill a child?" You say, both as a reply to Mr. Aizawa and to keep pressuring the bedridden criminal.

>"...A chance." The villain grumbles.

"Huh?" You ask, a fair bit confused.

>"Shigaraki offered us a chance to be part of his new organization, his League of Villains." The villain continues, dragging out every word.

>"If the League managed to kill the symbol of peace, then we'd be kings! Conquerors! We'd take the underworld by storm!.. Or so he told us."

>"We'd stand atop a cowering country instead of skulking in the shadows, hiding below the hero saturated streets… But he was selling us the moon, I see it now, and we fell for it. I'm sure that if he'd straight up called us his minions we would have done it anyway."

"...That doesn't answer my question." You tell him "I asked why you tried to kill me and my friends."

After all, it's not hard to figure out why villains would try to kill the country's number one hero.

>"Nothing personal, you just were there. We were told to kill the kids dropped in our areas, so I tried. Had everything according to plan, we'd have slaughtered you all. The heroes and the kids."

He continues, and for the first time, he looks at you.

>"You obey the job's boss or get disposed of. That's how high stakes villainy works, and I wanted in that world, that's where the real money flows. They don't want any street level thug down there though, and killing some heroes-to-be would have let us get there. I should have kept to robbing stores, but you only make a living with that. I wanted more, all the drugs, expensive cigars and whores I could want... but ambition bit me in the ass."

>"Sorry if you expected me to be doing this to feed a family or some shit like that… But it was for the money. I'm sorry about the injury too, I'd be in way less trouble if I hadn't even tried."

You don't really care anymore.
Before you asked, you clung to a shred of hope, hope of there being a reason you could understand, a problem you could solve and send these people back to meaningful life.
If a man turns to crime because he needs to eat, you like to think that you'd try to teach him a skill so he could feed himself…

But you just don't get this.
Maybe you are just not cynical enough, but you never before thought that there could be just... evil people.

You don't know how to deal with this.

"Just vice money?.. You would kill children, with their whole lives ahead of them, for a fistful of bills!?" You snap, screaming at him before turning away. You still hold yourself together enough to know that you shouldn't try anything, but he's made your blood boil, so you decide it's time to leave. "... You know? I think I was too soft back then. You might recover."

You don't stay to see his reaction, choosing to stomp out of the cell instead, leaning against the wall in the hallway and pulling on the brim of your hat, trying to cover your whole face with it.

You don't think you've ever been so mad at anyone, and you don't like feeling that way.
You want to pull your hair, punch a wall or scream some more, but you prefer to focus on keeping your tears at bay.

It takes you a few seconds of deep breathing, but when Mr. Aizawa comes to lean on the opposite wall you have managed to simmer down a bit.

"Is there really people that cannot be helped?" You ask him, more disappointed than sad.

>"I'm not the teacher you should be asking this to, this kind of thing is All Might's territory." He tells you.

"...Can I get your take anyway? Please?" You insist, getting him to sigh.

>"Yes, there are some villains that end in Tartarus for the rest of their lives." He answers. "And there may be a straw in a pile of needles, but that doesn't mean you should bleed yourself dry trying to find the misfits hidden amongst the maniacs."

"Oh. I'm sorry… I thought that there might be an easy fix, something I could say that would have turned a poor sinner straight. Not… Whatever that was." You can't say you are surprised, but it's not the answer you were expecting.

>"I told you. It's All Might who sits down with criminals for a chat about their life choices… But I believe he'll be proud that you tried to reach out." Your home room teacher says, instantly lifting your spirits.

"And you?" You ask him.

Eraserhead may not be the most popular hero, and you didn't even know him a week ago.
But as someone that risked life and limb for your sake and came to an inch of losing both, he has more than earned your respect.

>"Two weeks cleaning after class." He suddenly says.

"What?" You ask, confused about the non sequitur.

>"I told you last time that you can't just ignore orders, noble intent or not." He explains. "So you are going to be on clean-up duty until the festival. Consider it a slap on the wrist."

"Oh."

There is a diferrence between a calculated but risky maneuver and act like a retard shonen, althought this is based on a shonen manga.

Now that i think about it can girls be shounen mc?

This was calculated. Because Failure meant the status quo, and success meant things get better.
Oh No. Ushi has to stay late and do menial labour for 2 weeks, how terrible. What a cataclysmic consequence.

Dude come on. Deliberately playing to our weakness is just tempting fate. Being willfully ignorant of risks doesn't make them go away.
>>
>>2279731
Tempting fate for what?
What could have possibly gone wrong?
It's not ignorant of the risk if a simple assessment of risk tells us that it's a risk-less action, as nothing bad can happen, even if we don't succeed.

Anything can happen, man. Failures can have a variety of implications and severities. It's stupid to rely on it to go one way or another. Also, there's no such thing as a riskless roll. It wouldn't be a fucking roll if there was no risk.
>>
There was very little risk.
The only danger was if you botched it with every single die under 6.
Other than that, in this case, it was only to try for good things.

Thank you for ending the madness Mic.

I still hold that it's an unhealthy attitude to make assumptions. I'm not saying we should never take risks, but increased chance of failure should necessarily entail thorough consideration of the possibilities.

But I guess I've just been being paranoid and imagining a broader set of possibilities than there really were.
>>
>>2279969
Oh, don't worry. That was both my simplistic explanation and post fact information.

When you don't know, the less assumptions the better.
>>
>>2279969
Now I'm curious, what did you even think would happen? Not like asking a question would unlock some hidden reserve of strength.
>>
>>2280026
My point has been that I don't know what would happen. Anything from nothing to what happened to more severe stuff like detention or whatever else you can think if. My objection was to the assurance that nothing would happen.

Yeah, but things have to be reasonable and related, right? You can't fail a face roll and have Shiggy knock down a wall as a consequence.

So no matter what happens, it has to be in the realm of possibility, and related to what gets said.
