Yesterday you helped the town guard apprehend a few mercenaries that were kidnapping the townsfolk. The guard captain promised to give you a reward next time you visit their garrison. The remaining mercenaries are still hiding out in the wilderness and their previous victims are still unaccounted for. The orc threat to the north still looms on your mind. As does your overall mission: to seek out the Wish Granter.
Where to first?

Hartley: "WELL! Hammer Carnage. Good to see you. And you too mr Ulric, changed your mind about participating?"
Ulric: "I think I'll just watch mister"
Hartley: "Too bad, anyway HC, I'm glad you're here I've got two fights that need a second player and I think you'll do the trick for either of them. Not both mind you, the crowd will get bored if we overuse a fighter. Your first option is to fight Dr Deathgrimburg, he's a bit tougher than the Black Beetle but I'm sure you can handle him, 150 talons to the winner 38 talons to the loser. Your second option is to fight one of the champions, he's called "The Lost One" and he's a real experienced fighter, we don't think you can take him but we need someone to lose to him to build up hype for his real fight later, 100 talons to the winner and 25 to the loser."

Hartley: "Good choice, those 150 talons are as good as yours, let's get you geared up"

...

"Ladies AND Gentlemen! Place your bets! The ruthless Hammer Carnage is back and he wants another victim to smash in the arena! The black beetle was just an appetiser for this mad man and now he's ready to crush. But here comes his opponent! He's roused himself from his dark laboratory to collect more bodyparts for his evil experiments and he's set his sights on the mad berserker. Ladies and gentlemen I give you: the nefarious Dr Deathgrimburg"

Dr Deathgrimburg: "Go ahead and smash my bones Hammer Carnage. I'll just replace them with yours! hee hee hee"

You power attack the good doctor for a sound 32 damage, he's definitely not wearing armour underneath his costume.
He slashes you for 7 damage

You power attack for 32 damage. The two devastating blows have clearly shaken him but he continues to fight, he's a pretty tough doctor.
He power attacks you but you avoid the strike.

You power attack him for 29 damage. He stumbles alittle, it looks like he's on his last legs.
He slices your left arm scoring a critical hit! you take 10 damage, your left arm has been crippled.

(Remaining Actions cancelled. Crippled Limb)

Without use of your left arm, your 2 handed hammer will be extremely innaccurate. On the other hand the Doctor looks like he'll go down if you so much as sneeze on him.

Using your remaining arm you quickly jab him with the hammer. He clearly wasn't expecting the immediate counter attack as he is critically hit for 32 damage and knocked down. He stops moving and some staff members remove his unconcious body.

"And the winner is HAMMER CARNAGE, what a beatdown!"

>You gain 500 XP

Hartley: "Great work out there HC, looks like the doc got a lucky hit on you but I'm sure the tree will have it fully healed by tomorrow. I'll see if I can set you up with a slighty stronger opponent next time alright? Oh almost forgot your winnings, that was close wouldn't want to anger Hammer Carnage haha"

The art style is derived from experimenting around with tg "draw your party" stuff after I got a design for a human that I liked I used a colour picker on a cyanide and happiness comic to get the main characters skin tone and cyan shirt colour. The main character was made bald so he'd be easier and quicker to draw.

The public library has a decent sized collection of tomes. The availability of books and the general education level in Aflor is surprisingly high.

When you arrive Salaman quickly makes himself at home examining the books.
You can borrow 3 books at a time. What are you interested in reading about?

>History

You pick up a general history book. It's mostly stuff you already know. As an abjurer who formerly served in Uthain's royal palace you more learned than the average man.

Historians separate history into 3 epochs based on the dominant species at the time: The Dragon Age, the Orc Age and the Human Age (otherwise known as the iron age)
There is no recorded history from the Dragon age, since dragons have excellent memories and thought they would never die. Dragons eventually went into decline due to infighting. They still exist today but their population is said to be still in a slow decline. After the dragon age ended, monster races particularly Orc started to rise to power due to their population and strength.
Humans gradually developed technology, magical aptitude and military tactics. Eventually humans discovered a way to strengthen iron into a form much more powerful than bronze. After the discovery of steel humans quickly became the most powerful race in existence and the age of humans began. Since then the difference in power has gotten wider as humans develop their scientific, cultural and magical technologies.

>History of Aflor
It seems like information regarding the wishgranter was deliberately censored by the royal family of Aflor. Still, there's a little bif of relevant information in the books you find

2600 BST - Enclave of druids: "order of the mossy eye" plant an oak tree in aflor and spend considerable time performing magical ritual on the plant, the plant eventually becomes the great Oak centered around the human town of Oakheart.
150 BST - Wurtguth the Mutilator and his warriors settle Aflor after been driven from Breelzell by the Illithid and their army of mind slaves.
149 BST - Wurtguth names the land Hydraskull after encountering numerous Hydra in Grath Mire
131 BST - Wurtguth is slain his son Oktam, the newly christened Oktam the Mutilator takes command of the Aflor orcs
129 BST - Thousands of humans migrate from Tamor north into Aflor, the Tamorians armed with bronze weapons and with no military training are easily defeated by the Orc and many are taken as slaves by Oktam the Mutilator.
125 BST - Tamorian uprising against the orcs fail, thousands of humans lose their lives. Oktam the Mutilator abandons his slavery system and allows humans to live in peace if they send regular tributes.
60 BST - Orc leader Terg the Spinebreaker discovers a witch coven hiding in Grath Mire (colloquially known as the swamp of death by this point) Terg the Spinebreaker's demand for tribute from teh witches is declined.
59 BST - Orcish army is decimated attempting to invade Grath Mire, most forces retreat while Terg and his honour guard continue the invasion and are never heard from again.
58 BST - Orcish civil war occurs between Guron and Grekhil
54 BST - Guron strikes down Grekil and begins to reconsilidates the orcs in the region
54 BST - Second Human uprising begins, sorcery and military tactics are heavily used by human forces
53 BST - Orc leader Guron is desintegrated by the wizard Axzohr
50 BST - Orc and Human conflict dies down, now only border skirmishes occur rather than warfare, humans no longer pay tribute to orcs.
49 BST - Tywardreath is founded

2 AST - Knowledge of steel working arrives in Aflor, ancestors of Aflor royalty commision mass production of steel weapons and armour, humans begin campaign of extermination against orcs
30 AST - Orc population has suffered massive casualties from human military remnants live only in caves on teh fringes of human territory. King Assudam declares the land human property, renames it Aflor and declares self king.
100 AST - Aflor is invaded by the Lasal Empire
100 AST - Queen Zaba, declares existence of "secret weapon" that can be used to easily defeat Lasal Empire despite having a military upwards if 40 times the size of Aflor
100 AST - Lasal army reaches walls of Tywardreath, Zaba reveals secret weapon to be a wish granting entity (Note: Due to a royal degree by Queen Zaba recording specific information regarding the wish granter has been banned, information regarding the wish granter is largely speculative) the wish granter is used for the first time and somehow causes Lasal army to become inert.
101 AST - Lasal Empire agrees to treaty with Aflor, Lasal army ceases to be inert and returns to homeland peacefully
120 AST - An enormous amount of Alexandrite is suddenly exported from Aflor presumed to be created by the wishgranter bringing great riches to Aflor
122 AST - Alexandrite becomes worthless worldwide due to ubiquitousness, Aflor ceases production of Alexandrite
130 AST - Aflor civil war begins between King Reinhold and leader of Aflor's military General Farland, most historians assume each of them possesed at least one instance of a 'wish granter' or else it would have been a very short conflict
133 AST - General Farland seizes Tywardreath and declares self king, king Reinhold and loayalists retreat to castle Malgrave
133 AST - A horde of undead pours out of Tywardreath. Number of undead combatants matches former population of Tywardreath, King Reinhold and his forces are defeated by the undead scourge. General Farland and his living compatriots are never heard from again.

(Sorry that update took so long)
I'm going to call it quits for now, thanks for playing. Seeker Quest will continue in a week

Damn it.
I missed Seeker Quest.
Thanks for running Dolomite.

Hilarious filename and tracing aside, I wanted to add that this image actually does a really good job of symbolizing the three ages in a minimalist, intuitive, and aesthetic way.
In other words, snazzy work.

>>

Your arm wasn't severed, the art style just uses a broken line to represent crippled limbs.
It can be restored by the healing skill or by being nearby Oakheart's giant tree for a several hours.
(When the party fought the mud golem and crippled its limbs I described/drew them as severed because I didn't think it would ever regain use of those limbs anyway)
