Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=stranded+mech+quest

Information pastebin: https://pastebin.com/vSXCNHAQ

You are Captain Alex, Proxima Aquarii Federation, 4th Fringe Machine Infantry. When heading to a routine exercise, you and your mech ended up somewhere other than outside the backwater base on a polluted world you called home.

(You are also Crew Boss Levi, a mechanic in charge of repairs to Alex's mech. After finally reuniting with Alex, you see he is, in fact, still an idiot.)

Now you're stuck in a world that's verdant, green, and full of life, where people use 'magic' and gods rule. You were pretty sure it was a sophisticated LARPer's personal planet, but Mirna, from the Apha Centauri Conglomerate has stated otherwise.

You are an ace pilot, the elite of mech operators, and you pilot the Newt, a durable and quick military mech. You can't seem to use up your ammo. You have three crewmates, Hilda, a convicted witch, and Seirye, an elven mechanic who has spent her life without free will.

Through some twist of fate, you are currently a hivemind with a version of yourself that appears normal. You have recently summoned your mechanic, Levi, over to help. They have arrived in another mech. You have recently recovered and secured the colony of Port Haller. You are now recovering from the battle, but you need to decide where to go from here.

>continuing
>>
>>2271527
You take one of the most luxurious homes for yourself. It's spacious, though there is a saddening feeling as you walk the empty rooms.

You sit down with Hilda on some Core World crates, explaining some history to her, of a little thing called World War Two. She has a hard time believing you, but you go over it again in detail. She's horrified someone could do such a thing, that war could be so immense. She tries to deny it, until you ask why anyone would make a mech like yours... like Haller's... like that dragon or the colossus. She shudders. She grips her head, looking out at the mist.

"And... those people... are here?"

"Yes." You confirm, "That's why I must kill them."

She laughs, "A-and I... I thought the worst was Mera's knights..."

You leave her be a bit... At least she understands. As the sky darkens... you can hear a melody, hauntingly beautiful...

>You are now Levi.

Alex is an ass. Seirye certainly does her best, but you get stuck fixing shit while he relaxes in comfort. Snapping music out of the hummingbird, you plug it into the mechbay's consoles. With a few clicks and button presses, soon music is blaring over the mechbay.

Seirye clasps her hand over her ears.
You shake your head, "This is a garage, darling, Without music, this work is a drag." With that, you set to repairing the hummingbird. Your loud rock music drowning out any sounds as you weld scrap and teach Seirye how to be a better mechanic.

>Seirye has a better understanding of mech repair

Looking back into the city, Haller took up small residence near command. Alex took a swanky-looking villa... egotist.

>What do you do?
>>
Rolled 99 (1d100)

>>2271557
Find a swankier Villa. Obviously.

Roll is for our relentless search for said Villa.

Really rub it in that we slept in a cooler villa once we encounter Alex again.
>>
>>2271557
Talk to Seirye. You have a lot of questions and the one that's to blame for them hasn't explained shit

Rolled 22 (1d100)

> Find a swankier villa

> Help Seirye find a Villa close by

This roll is for Seirye being able to make choices vs. Levi giving up and having her just move in with her for ease of teaching.
>>
>>2271557
>>2271622

I have no idea if you will accept a low roll as Levi deciding to take care of Seirye as opposed to Seirye becoming more independent.

But that is now what my vote is for.
>>
>>2271557
Focus on repairing the hummingbird back to operational state while still teaching seirye how to maintain/fix properly. Small talk if possible. If that's done, finding a good place to rest, preferably somewhere close to everyone just in case.
>>

Move into a Mechbay. Realize Seirye is just following us. Start working on the Hummingbird with her. Get tired and realize Seirye stayed with us. Become roomies.

find alex mech. upgrade it because you know the idiot will need it.

hardlight bayonet time bois.

then finda core word generot and swap out emchs current one for it, then add mecha dragson laser weapon!
>>
>>2271909
We should leave some dragon parts for Mirna's mec, its weapons were gone the last time we checked.
>>
>>2271917
I believe it would be in our best interests to get the Newt as upgraded as we can and give our extra stuff to the Bylat.
>>
>>2271922
Hardlight bayonet only costs one claw of our three if I'm not mistaken. so thats okay.

But giving the Railguns to the Blyat will have the ammo problem, as it isn't blessed.

Also, there is no point in updating the blyat right now if we can get Mirna's mech fixed, as it is more powerfull if weaponized.

Better to have a future mech with some weaponry and a usefull Blyat, than a very armed Blyat with no future mech.

We could at least give one of the claws to make a hardlight sword for the Blyat, but we don't know if its generator can handle it.

>>2271906
Can Levi answer the questions of this post?
>>
>>2271938
I'm quire fascinated when people mention Bylat and ammo. Any weapon she's going to have to get ammo for that's not a cause to leave her defenseless.

I agree that would should repair Mirna's mech and use it. but anons want to make a shrine out of it, they may not let us use it.
>>2271557
I think for the newt we should give it any upgrades we can. QM said in discord that there's a core world generator. I also think that we should add an extra railgun to the newt and replace a heavy gun with a railgun. The hardligt bayonet is a good idea. After that, let's try and put as much coreworld scrap on the newt for defense.
>>
>>2271961
There is literally no reason to use the mech for a shrine, it seems to hold Mirna's mortal remains, that should make a far better thing for a shrine than her mech.
>>
>>2271961
>>2271961

no reaplaces the heavy guns, that just asking for us to get destoryed by infatry because they are they only weapons we have that can acutaly aim aat our feet.

also we could isntall the power source in the newt thats getting swapped out for the core world onto the blyat, then give the bylat a hard light generater configed to make a foward facing barrier.
>>

Better to have a melee weapon than a barrier right now, its already quite sturdy and we can make it even more with some mech scrap.

You pause your work to find a better bruilding. Your search has you find possibly the sweetest villa succeeds, netting you the coolest building this side of the factories, possibly meant for the head of engineering.

Who cares, it's yours now. You hear an odd melody, now that you are farther from the mechbay. Seirye blinks, "Your... music There's an odd song."

You nod, "I hear it too. Is Alex or Haller playing music?" You shrug, leaving personal effects in one of the rooms. You don't sleep though, you've got work to do. The hummingbird can be fixed tonight if you knuckle down.

You decide to check where the music is coming from. Bracer alight and pistol in hand, you move through empty streets. The song echoes over the walls, prompting you to climb up a wall tower. You can hear the song through the walls. You gaze out at the ocean, mist over the waters... not like the artificial shroud from before, but an eerie one, looking almost malevolent. You swear you can briefly see a pale thing splash into the blackened water. you look down, the gates are sealed since your entrance, and the wall where the blast went through is well over a climbing height. of in the distance, you think you can spot something crawling onto land, but when you look, the mist shrouds it.

...actually, mist is shrouding everything around the colony.

You decide to check in on Alex first.

You ziptie Alex's hands and legs together and drop him unceremoniously in front of his house's doorstep. Problem solved. That said, you hurry to Haller's residence. upon reaching his door, you hear... Opera. Military-themed opera. You open the door and find the Admiral sleeping silently in a recliner, a pseudo-vinyl playing loudly behind him. It will never cease playing, at least. The loud music not only hid your intrusion, it blots out the music overall.

As usual, it falls to you to solve the problems. Leaving a note for Haller to stay indoors, you instruct Seirye to stand guard. You can't be sure of the effect on alex when the other half is awake, and the witch seems... more like a wildcard than an asset.

That only leaves you. You could take the blyat, but honestly you know it's shit. You could take the Newt, but god knows what Alex put in that thing.

You could also... jury-rig the Hummingbird to working order, but it'd disable the mech mode. Whatever it is lurks in the water, and you need those sensors and searchlights badly. Also flying the VTOL is better than slogging in those dark waters.

Gripping your bulky breaching pistol, you head back out to take a mech.

You jury-rig the VTOL to working order in a matter of minutes, and soon you are in the air.

The sensors show the water teeming with life. When a spotlight shines down, white shapes scurry away from it in the waves. Eerie slimy creatures writhing and twisting. You see a few crawling onto shore and clawing at the walls of the colony. The defenses sit idle, not calibrated for these creatures. You focus on the song next. It's coming from somewhere south of your location. You could possibly investigate... or maybe land in the colony and re-calibrate the targeting of the defenses to light these pallid amphibious humanoids up first.

You come closer to where the singing is. Lights sway past things but you spot something... A cluster of rocks with wrecked ships scattered about. White figures clung to the rocks, horrific pale sharp-toothed mockeries of mermaids letting out their haunting call. Motion and a flash on a crow's nest drew your attention.

A single human fired a pistol down at creatures climbing up the main mast, possibly a woman, given the immunity to the song. With a blade in hand, she struggles to keep the crawling pale forms from her. Fire burns on the deck of the ship. As you move in with your searchlights, the woman gives a desperate look up to your flying machine, before firing down at an aquatic abomination.

"Oh, thank Noden... I thought I was done fer sure- erh." She paused, staring at your expressionless visor, "The hell are ya, mate?"

"I'm a mechanic."

"Never heard of no mechanic with a flyin knight... wait, this ain't no knight..." She looks around the cramped confines of the hummingbird.

"Yeah, that's because it's a..." You pause, thinking of layman's terms to describe the VTOL, "Special flying machine. What are you doing in shallow waters on a ship?"

"Ya see, I was asking the cap the same thing, we was clippin the shallow sea to head off some merchant vessels from the jungles, but then the music sounded, an next thing I knew we were sailin right into these rocks!"

You frown, "So you are the last one left?"

"No kiddin! The fishmen ate the rest. thrice-cursed sirens! ...wait, what're you doin here?"

"Trying to solve the siren problem. Any clue?"

"I dunno, they like these rocks and wrecks. Sunlight burns em up, so they need shade at night... I think caves too, but, dunno of any near here."

Caves... like the kind all over that mountain on the island. This place was a damn deathtrap.

You fly back towards the colony, letting your searchlicts play over the water.

"Are these creatures sentient?" You ask.

"Uh what?" The woman blinks, "H-hey, why are you going further into the sea? People don't come back from here..."

"That's news to me." You reply. Who knew this place was notorious for that? Alex maybe, but he never told you, "Do these creatures act like people, and...what's your name?"

"Well, I suppose, but they can't talk, and they like to eat humans. My name's Silgin. You aren't one of those Meran Knights, are you?"

"I don't know what that is." You respond as the colony comes into view.

"A town? On an island? There was a place like that in here?" The pirate stares.

"What do you know of this place?"

"The shallow sea? it's a barrier into the unknown lands. Water's too shallow for ships and filled with creatures that'll attack people who try to cross at night... and its way too big to cross in one day... Uh, barrin this thing."

You nod, setting the craft down in the colony. Creatures were sstill clawing at the gate, but Seirye has used the lavagun to seal up the hole in the wall. You step out.

"Where's everyone?" The woman asks

"They're dead I assume. Either killed by these creatures or something else." You don't want to elaborate on the space Nazis. Alex has squirmed out into the center of the road but not really left the front of the house. Seems you're good still.

You drag Alex back into his house and shut the door before striding over to the defense controls. The pirate, worried, tails you. With a few quick adjustments, you add the lifesigns of these amphibious monsters to the targetting array. As soon as it updates, the thunder of guns sounds, as well as the rolling clatter of machinegun fire from the gate. You hear a cacophony of shrieks and howls as the creatures fall under fire. Slapping you hands together, you walk out where the pirate is.

"What... what was that?"

"Guns." You respond, heading to Haller's room. The opera reseounds through the hall as you open the door quietly. The admiral is still fast asleep in that lounge chair. Honestly, his music could wake the dead it's so loud.

You head back out. Cannonfire lights up the night.

Explain to her the notion of the colony. A place where soldiers and freedom fighters go. An army without borders. A safe-haven from cypher.....

Wait wrong thread.

Explain to the pirate lady the colony. Expand on the highlights of how it's technologically founded, but living in it means serving of somekind. I can't say that it's a job. Remind her that if she's not interested in living here than she can take her luck with the sea.

You laugh as they scamper into the black waters, flipping them the bird in the dark.

"This is a colony. A sort of city-state. We're using the best technology available, but if you want to live here, you'll need to work. If you aren't interested, well, you can leave.

The pirate frowns, "Well, crew's dead, I'm a criminal, and now there's not even a ship. Hardly knew mosta them anyways. Just wanted food." she explains.

"Well, right now we got nutrient blocks unless you want to take up farming. Tell you what, think it over, tell the Admiral next morning." You respond before visiting Seirye and telling her to go to sleep.

The rest of the night you spend working on the hummingbird. Finally, when it's done, the sun rises. Alex (adult) strolls in like the overconfident idiot he is.

"Oi, Alex you shitter. I lost my night because of you!"

"Was that why I was hogtied?!" Alex asks.

"YOU didn't make sure it was safe, so I had to deal with the damn water creatures myself. Did you think maybe, just maybe, that mountain was riddled with caves for no reason? FISHMEN."

"Now hold on..."

"And... AND! You thought you'd play cool and ignite the fucking battleship engines, listening to an enraged foreign admiral, instead of the person with SCANNERS AND KNOWLEDGE OF HOW ENGINES WORK, and got as damn mecha-dragon up that shot out the bottom of my hummingbird. YOUR FAULT, NOT MINE." HE shrinks a bit under the weight of your words, "Maybe you should listen to the fucking mechanic next time you decide to blow shit up. GOOD NIGHT." With that, you shove Alex out of the way and enter your villa, plopping onto the bed...

Only to realize you are well into a neversleep dose. Fuck.

AMAZING! You got a a full-size replica of Hat Kid's hat! How cool is that!

Oh, and you got the blueprints for a Slag gun, for, you know, causing things to melt.

Also the blueprints for the Gnat MK I (the MK X is in the field back home) the design and concept stays the same, a 2-man car-sized hovertank with a heavy energy weapon and a missile pod.

Oh, and you got the blueprints for the Liberator's tougher cousin, the Paladin-class mech, a field soldier type designed to take and dish out destruction... and then the Defender-class, a core world siege mech, designed to ignore incoming fire while slowly advancing, protecting the forces behind it.

Altogether, pretty cool. You are disappointed there were no blankets.

Yes, this was pointless. But you did make her adorable too. No matter. You need to solve some serious issues, like figure out how Alex is immune to pathogens and get that taken care of... Alex would know.

"Alex?" You ask.

"Erm, yes?" The still girl replies.

"How are you immune to the pathogens and bacteria?"

"W-well, you see, there's shrines around the world, they give blessings. I went to one in the forests north of here and got it." Alex replies, "Actually I was planning on returning for some recruiting or blessings, but..."

"You'll show me then." You respond, carrying the small girl to the hummingbird.

"What? right now?!"

"Alex, I can't take off my clothes. I've been in mechanic gear and helmet for over 24 hours now. How do you think I feel about being trapped in here?"

"Ah, w-well, I was going to go to recruit orcs..."

"Recruit whatever with your people. You traveled with them before, do so again." You drop Alex inside and close the hatch behind you, firing up the engines.

Adult Alex rushes up as you lift off, "W-wait, :Levi, that's in the Meran empire! The knights there hate me!"

"You, or this version?" You ask.

"...me."

"Good, then the issue is solved." With that, you blast forward, north. Mountains rise up in the distance. You fly over them with ease. Soon you are following a river at Alex's instruction. You reach a valley that opens into green farmlands... nestled in the middle of a lake before a fork in the river is a vast city. More dot the fields in the distance, off to the horizon. There's also a forest too.

"Okay, so, on the forest edge is Mirna's shrine, just downriver. In the forest is Acarit's shrine, and... that city is Mera's capital. I have two guys I hired there Apparently in the north..." Alex points to a distant city, "I'm owed a blessing by a trickster good."

You glance back, "I can only fit one more person, Alex."

"Oh."

Well, all destinations are promising to you, the forest for this shrine, the river shrine, the capital, or to investigate this 'trickster god.'

Or rather, what's left of it. It's been shattered apart. A massive ballista bolt stabs into the ground behind it. There's no shrine here for you to obtain a blessing from... just rubble.

in the trees you can see the shattered forms of spiderlike mechs around you, and a few humanoid ones. It seems a battle took place here, possibly to defend this shrine.
