Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

The halls are quiet as you and Raven walk to the common room for much. You guess everyone could have called it quits with their loud activities, but honestly you find it more likely that this is just something that happens sometimes in such a large tower with so few people in it. It lets you and Raven have a peaceful conversation, so you can't complain.

"So, what were you and Starfire doing?" Raven asks you, looking ahead as she does so.

"She was helping me to control my anger when I use Psychic Attacks," you answer, kind of surprised that she didn't just sense what the two of you were up to.

Now, Raven looks at you, eyebrow cocked in mild concern. "Did you lose control in the fight yesterday?"

"Almost," you admit, remembering how close things got, how you almost killed your enemy when your initial plan was to simply restrain him. "She taught me her "righteous fury" approach."

"I'm guessing you were so disturbingly happy when you came to the roof because you got the hang of it," Raven replies.

>>A. "It was harder than I was expecting, but yes."

>>B. "That, and I was just glad you're okay. I was worried."

>>C. "So, you're able to just heal yourself by going into a trance?"

"That, and I was just glad you're okay," you answer. "I was worried."

Raven looks away for a moment. "Well, I'm fine. Believe me, I've had worse. A lot worse."

You don't like the sound of that. Being beaten to near-death and into a magic healing coma by a psychotic martial artist with godlike powers is not something you can think of many things worse than. Then again, her dad's some kind of demon, and she apparently was involved in stopping the apocalypse. Hopefully, things won't be getting that bad any time soon.

"So, you're able to just heal yourself by going into that trance?" you ask her.

"Only in serious situations," Raven answers. "It's sort of an instinctive thing when I've been seriously harmed. It's exhausting, but it comes in handy."

>>A. "So, is it magic, or psychic, or what?"

>>B. "So, Troia's part of the team now. Can you tell me anything about her?"

Not able to think of much else to say at the moment, you walk in silence at Raven's side until the two of you make it to the living room, where you find Starfire feeding Silkie as Troia watches with curiosity, Robin and Cyborg playing video-games, and Beast Boy grumbling as he watches them.

"Hey guys!" the green titan greets upon seeing you and Raven enter the room.

"Hello friends!" Starfire greets happily, waving a spoonful of Silkie's food around, and accidentally hitting Troia in the face with the odd purple goop.

Silkie gets out of his baby chair and jumps onto Troia, licking the goop off of her face while Starfire giggles in amusement.

Raven doesn't respond to either Beast Boy or Starfire, just walking over to the kitchen area and fixing herself some tea.

"Hey guys," you say to your friends as you make your way into the kitchen yourself.

On the way, you stop and pet Silkie, who is currently attached to Troia's face and licking off the last remains of his meal that was flung there. Your attention is enough to make him release his grip on the dark-haired girl, and you take the liberty of picking him up so Troia can go wash her face. Silkie, as per usual, snuggles up to you in his adorable wormy little way. After a few moments, you hand him off to Starfire, and join Raven in the kitchen, looking for something to make for lunch.

"Want me to make you something?" you ask Raven as you look through the refrigerator.

"I'm good, thanks," Raven tells you, using her magic to pull an apple over and taking a bite of it.

You end up making yourself a hot-dog sandwich, and grab a few chips to go with it, taking a seat at one of the tables and enjoying your lunch. Raven sits down nearby and sips at her tea, not really interacting with anybody.

That seems to be sort of a common thing with her. She'll hang out with everyone, but really not do a whole lot most of the time. You guess she just enjoys the company, not so much the activity.

Beast Boy and Robin finish up their game after a few minutes, with Robin emerging the victor and gloating at a rather steamed-looking Cyborg.

"Star, you wanted to go see that exhibit down at the museum, right?" the boy wonder asks as he walks into the kitchen area.

"Oh, yes!" she replies, seemingly overcome by joy as she begins to float off of the ground. "I am most fascinated to learn of the various types of insects of Earth! There are so many intriguing varieties!"

"A bug exhibit?" Raven asks, glancing over at the couple. "Why don't you just go visit Killer Moth's island? I'm pretty sure he'd be alright with that."

"Starfire's got her heart set on this exhibit," Robin tells Raven in a voice that betrays his lack of enthusiasm. "So, I promised I'd take her."

"Let us hurry!" Starfire tells Robin, grabbing his wrist. "A multitude of many-legged creatures await us!"

In a flash, she pulls Robin out the door. Troia shakes her head in amusement.

"She really has him wrapped around her finger, doesn't she?" the girl asks with a quiet laugh.

"You have no idea," Cyborg tells her. "It's kind of sad."

Beast Boy nods in agreement. "Robin can do pretty much anything, except say "no" to her. Poor guy."

"It is kind of funny to see," Troia comments.

>>A. "Yeah, but they seem happy together."

>>B. "An exhibit on bugs, though? Robin should learn to say no."

"Yeah, but they seem happy together," you point out.

"Oh, they are," Cyborg assures you from his spot on the sofa. "Which makes it even more annoying how long it took for them to get together."

"Seriously," Raven agrees.

"Oh, I wasn't saying they aren't great for each-other," Troia assures you. "It's just funny how different he is with her than the rest of the time."

"Trust me, Donna, I get how Robin feels," Beast Boy comments. "When you're in love with someone..."

He gets a sad look on his face and cuts off from whatever he was going to say, lowering his head in grief.

Raven and Cyborg look at him sympathetically, but he doesn't really seem to notice. Raven lets out a sigh and looks at Donna.

"Beast Boy's right for once," she tells Troia. "You can be a completely different person around someone you have feelings for."

This time, Beast Boy and Cyborg look at her, though the glare she gives them makes both of them look anywhere else.

"Well, I guess it makes sense that you wouldn't totally get it," Beast Boy remarks, leaning back.

Troia turns to him, looking unsure whether or not she should be angry at him for what he said.

"What do you mean?" she asks.

Beast Boy looks up at her, seeming surprised that she actually asked that. "Well, it's just that..well, you lived your whole life on an island with a "no boys allowed" rule. So, I kind of assumed you've never, uh.."

"I've never been in a relationship with a man, no," Troia admits. "But I loved all of my sisters, and never really acted differently around them."

"Do you act the same around them as you do around the Titans?" Beast Boy asks.

"Sure," Troia answers. "I love all of you, too. Even when I was an honorary Titan, you guys were family to me."

She gets a thoughtful look for a second, then turns toward you. "You haven't said anything, Crimson. Have you ever been in a relationship?"

"I can't remember," you answer.

Troia gives you a confused, doubting look. "How would you forget if you were in love with someone?"

"Kid Crimson's a special case," Raven tells her. "He doesn't remember much of anything that happened more than a couple of months ago."

"Oh.." Troia responds, looking at you both apologetically and with...understanding? That's odd.

"I don't suppose you found anything like that in any of the memories you were able to dig up?" Cyborg asks.

You think for a moment. In one of the first memories you recovered, there was a blond women with you. But, she looked a bit old to be in a relationship with you. Still, there was an incredible sense of familiarity when you saw her, and even thinking about her now, you feel a pang in your chest. You also remember reading the name "Marissa" in one of your memories of the HIVE. That name sounds very familiar to you, and you don't think that's what the blond woman was called.

Ultimately, you shake your head, not sure of anything.

"What about you, Cyborg?" Troia asks, looking to your friend.

"Oh, uh, yeah," Cyborg answers, suddenly seeming a little bashful. Is his face turning red? "I have a girlfriend."

"Her name's Sarah," Beast Boy explains for him. "Really nice girl."

"Good for you," Troia tells Cyborg, smiling.

Your friend gives a fond chuckle. "Yeah, I'm a lucky dude."

"What's she like?" you ask, actually not knowing that Cyborg was dating anybody.

"She's smart, kind, brave...she runs this camp for disabled kids, kids that are...well, like me, actually," Cyborg answers.

Cyborgs?

"Kids who have lost limbs or other body parts to injuries," Cyborg clarifies. "She takes them camping, to shows, helps them have experiences they probably couldn't have otherwise."

Sounds like a nice girl. Anyway, you're done your lunch, and don't much feel like talking anymore. You tell everyone that you'll be in your room if you're needed, then get up and leave. Once there, you close the door, climb onto your bed, assume the lotus position, and close your eyes, dispelling your focus on any particular thoughts, and letting all of them flow before you.

All you need to do now is reach out and take one.

That blond woman from your earlier memory. Who was she? Why did she seem so familiar to you? You want to know.

The last vision in which you saw the women once again runs through your mind. You see yourself and her conversing with Blood, and hear the three of you discuss some sort of "ascension" and "glorious destiny" like before. This time, however, things keep going.

The woman bows. "As you decree, Brother."

Blood smiles, removing his hand from your shoulder and turning away from the two of you. He slowly steps away, returning to the spot where you'd first found him, staring into that strange, orange glow. He doesn't say anything else, and the woman takes it as dismissal, turning away and walking out of the room, with you following along right behind her. The two guards standing at the entrance glance toward the two of you as you pass, but give you no trouble.

The two of you walk in silence for some time, with you moving along beside her as the two of you roam the halls, eyes front, posture straight, not saying a word, not making a sound beyond your footsteps. You pass several initiates and soldiers, but they keep their distance. Eventually, the two of you reach a garden just outside, surrounded in every direction by the massive walls of the building you emerged from. Beautiful flowers of every kind grow all over, the waterfall of the pond in the center of it all creates a nice natural sound, and birds and bees float around gently from flower to flower.

There are three other HIVE members in the garden, but they're spread out enough for the woman you're with to feel comfortable breaking the silence.

"I'm so proud of you, Peter," she tells you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. "I know it hasn't always been easy for you, but you've pushed through, and now look at you. Pride of the HIVE, and Brother Blood's chosen. Congratulations."

"M-", you begin. "What is this "ascension" the two of you were talking about?"

"I don't know the details," she answers, and you can tell she's being truthful. "All I know is that you'll be given incredible power, and lead the charge in creating the new world."

The pride in her voice is enough to make you blush. It feels so good to have made her so very proud.

The vision begins to fade.

The conversation from before has you thinking. Have you ever been in love? Heck, have you fallen in love with anyone now? The memory of you and the blond woman fades, and your mind seems to rifle through itself to find any information on love.

That blond woman does come up, but you don't think it's romantic love you feel for her. The name Marissa also comes up, but so do Simon, Paul, and Ryan, so you think that maybe those people were just dear friends, much like the Titans are now. For some reason, Blood's in there, too, but you aren't really sure about the nature of your affection for him.

As for now? Are you in love? Well, you definitely love your new friends, and several of the people you have met and lived with so far are attractive girls around your age. There's Starfire, the bubbly alien beauty that's dating Robin, making a relationship impossible even if you decided you wanted one. There's Raven, usually quiet and reserved, but also attractive in her own way (the girl walks around wearing a leotard, you haven't been perving on her, but it's hard not to notice that she has a good body). There's Rose, who is also quite attractive and a strong, driven fighter. Then there's Troia, the beautiful warrior woman, Cassie, who's a bit younger than you but still quite a looker, and there was Jinx, whose appearance was unconventional but not unappealing.

As far as you can tell, you haven't developed romantic feelings for any of them, but as a teenage boy of heterosexual nature, you definitely find them physically appealing.

Well, one thing's clear, at least.

Memories of your friends play through your mind, making you feel more and more content and happy by the second, until you feel entirely at peace, your waking mind as relaxed as you could ever hope for it to be.

Your eyes open, and you find yourself floating over your bed, still sitting on the lotus position as you hover in the air. Smiling, you let yourself drift back down, landing on your soft bed once again.

You lie back and look up at the ceiling, just feeling all-around wonderful. Right now, life is good.

You've still got plenty of daylight in front of you. How will you spend it?

You haven't spent any time with Donna yet, and since she's part of the team, now, you figure that you should at least get to know her a little bit. Hopefully, you can be friends with her like you are with the rest of the team. She seems nice enough, so you don't see any reason why the two of you wouldn't get along.

Hopping out of bed, you step back into the hallway, walking around the tower and looking for the newest Titan. You hear from Cyborg that she went up onto the roof, and so make your way up there to find her.

She's not on the roof, but you still find her up there. The red-garbed girl is hanging in the air above the bay, looking out over the large body of water and the city beyond.

Flying is something you don't get tired of, so, seeing an excuse to do it again, you lift off of the roof and join Troia in the air, coming to hover beside her and join in looking at the city across the bay. Troia looks your way for a moment, then resumes admiring the view, the two of you staying in silence for the next few seconds, before you break that silence with a question.

"How does Jump City compare to your island?" you ask her.

"I can't really say," she tells you, still looking ahead. "A city is so different than where I come from that there's not a way to properly compare them. These massive buildings, the millions of people, the shops, restaurants, automobiles, none of these are things we're exposed to on Paradise Island. But, they're really interesting. I hear that when Starfire first came to Earth, she was amazed and confused by all of the strange sights, sounds, and experiences. I've been into the wider world more than once, but I still feel like I understand how she felt."

Well, when she puts it that way, you can see why she's just hanging out here staring at the buildings. You'd probably be acting similarly if you got to see her island, while she wouldn't find it quite so interesting.

"Want to take a flight over the city?" you ask her.

She looks at you, smiles, and starts across the bay. "Sure! Let's go!"

You're worried that she'll leave you in the dust, but she moves slowly enough for you to keep up with her. Since you're not racing, she doesn't see a reason to leave you behind. The two of you fly across the bay, passing over the heads of many people as you reach the docks, some of whom point up at you or try to figure out who you are.

You soar over the streets, the signs, the lights, the rooftops, seeing the countless people moving on foot and by car through the streets and sidewalks, taking in the smells of the restaurants and street vendors that dot the urban landscape, and the sounds of people and vehicles below. You pass over the park, watching some birds move from tree to tree, people playing games, dogs chasing frisbees or going for walks with their owners. The view from above is fantastic.

Troia seems to be greatly enjoying the trip, her happiness right now reminding you a bit of Starfire's. From the moment the two of you started over the bay, the smile hasn't left her face.

"So, you used to sneak away from your island and help the Titans," you say, recalling that being mentioned in the past. "What's the story there?"

Troia turns toward you, flying backwards for a little while as the two of you continue over the city. You make sure to look over her shoulder every few seconds to make sure she doesn't hit anything.

"Well, I used to work with Wonder Woman, which meant leaving the island fairly often," she begins. "One of the first things I learned was that man's world wasn't as chaotic and evil as many of my sisters thought. In fact, I found that there were a lot of food people out here, men and women both. Wonder Woman told me stories about some of the greatest men she knew. Batman, Superman, the Flash, living men every bit as fantastic as the heroes of old. I always loved it when she told me stories of the adventures she and these other heroes would have, and through those, I eventually learned about Robin, and how he had left his life as Batman's sidekick, and gone on to become a hero in his own right."

She finally turns around, slowing so that the two of you can fly side by side. "Curiosity got the better of me, so I came to Jump City, where I met the Teen Titans for the first time. I helped them beat some baddy, and they made me an honorary Titan. I went back to my island for a time, but when the Titans called for my help against something called the Brotherhood of Evil, my sisters forbade me from leaving. Wonder Woman was away at the time, so I couldn't ask her to intervene for me. I could only listen on the communicator as the Titans all over the world were hunted down and captured. Then, Robin shut down all of our communicators, and I had no idea what became of everyone."

She looks over her shoulder in the direction of Titans Tower. "I felt horrible, wondering if I could have made a difference, and kicking myself for sitting on the sidelines while the other Titans, heroes that had earned that title, risked their lives out there. I made up my mind then that if they ever needed my help again, they'd get it, no matter what my sisters said."

"Want to get something to eat while we're here?" you ask Troia as the two of you pass over another series of restaurants. "My treat."

She smiles. "Sure, that sounds great."

The two of you find a somewhat out-of-the-way place to land, then start looking around for someplace to eat. You're not exactly starving after the lunch you enjoyed earlier, but you could certainly still eat. And Donna seems really hungry, in fact, you think she accidentally said "food people" earlier, so it might be bad.

"The food is one of my favorite parts about the outside world," Troia remarks as the two of you search. "We have wonderful, always fresh food back on Paradise Island, but pizza, french fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, spaghetti, cheese steaks, we don't have anything like those there. And honestly, I wish we did, they're wonderful."

You can't argue with that, though there are a lot of people that claim cheese steaks on this side of the country don't compare to those around Philadelphia. Now that you can fly, maybe you'll have to verify that for yourself someday.

The two of you eventually settle on a small burger place, and take a seat to order your food. You decide on a burger each, some lemonades, and an order of fries for the two of you to split. Once that's done, the two of you resume your earlier conversation.

"So, how'd you get back in contact with the Titans?" you ask her.

"Well, after a while, the worry became too much for me, and I left the island against orders to find out what had happened," she explains. "I came to Jump City, and found almost every single Titan beating up some poor weakling named Doctor Light. I got the story of what happened from all of them, Robin gave me a new communicator, and I went home, making sure I came whenever they needed help from then on."

The repeated mentions of having to sneak out, the statements that most of the amazons look unfavorably upon man's world, the saying that a man setting foot on the island would send it plunging into the sea, it's got you curious about its anti-male worldview.

"So, what's with the whole "no boys allowed" thing on your island?" you ask Troia, who looks somewhat uncomfortable with the question.

"Well," she begins, deciding to answer despite clearly not liking the subject. "The island exists under Aphrodite's Law, which states that men are forbidden from setting foot there. That law has existed on Paradise Island for thousands of years. It began when our queen was...."

She stops to figure out how best to phrase this. "...assaulted by Hercules. That event convinced the amazons that most, if not all men, were evil."

Wait, Hercules was real? And he did what to the amazon queen? Assaulted her? Wait...oh. Oh, jeez.

"Enough about me," Donna tells you, sounding a bit tense. "Let's talk about you a bit. What's your story, exactly? I know that you can't remember anything too far back, but what can you tell me about where you come from?"

That's a little tricky for you to answer, considering your amnesia, but you make the effort to tell her where you come from to the best of your abilities.

"Apparently, I used to work for a horrible man named Brother Blood," you explain to her.

Recognition appears on her face. "The others have mentioned Brother Blood before. I've never seen him myself, but they say he's one of the worst villains they've faced."

"He's bad all right," you assure her, briefly flashing back to his invasion of your mind. "He planned to use me for some sort of big plan, part of which involved giving me my powers. Somewhere along the way, I lost my memory, and decided to join the Titans instead of helping him."

"Well, you certainly made the right decision," she assures you kindly. "But, you really can't remember anything from your old life?"

"Only little flashes of memory I dug up meditating," you answer. "And some general feelings about names and faces from back there."

"Names of friends you had back then?" she guesses.

You nod.

She looks at you with sympathy. "I imagine it's not easy to be on the side that's working against your old friends."

>A. "I barely remember them anyway. It's better that way. Easier."

>B. "One of them found me and tried to convince me to leave the city so I wouldn't get hurt. It seems like some of my friends weren't completely bad people. Maybe there's a way I won't have to be against them forever."

"One of them found me and tried to convince me to leave the city so that I wouldn't get hurt," you tell her. "It seems like maybe my friends weren't completely bad people. So, maybe there's a way I won't have to be against them forever."

Troia's expression after you say that is difficult to read, but she responds with some degree of optimism.

"Maybe," she acknowledges. "If you were able to change, maybe they can, too."

You somehow doubt they'll all suddenly come down with amnesia, but honestly, who knows? It's not something you've given much thought, but what if you have to fight the people that were once dearest to you? Will you be able to do it? Will they be able to do it? Simon seemed incredibly reluctant to be your enemy, and even tried to get you to leave so that you wouldn't have to fight each other. You can't remember much of the others, but their names, you have a sense of comradery and even affection for them. Even if they work for Blood, you don't want to fight them.

Troia looks at you with worry as your thoughts turn toward these possible unpleasant future encounters.

"So," she says, snapping you out of it. "The others keep mentioning some kind of initiation I'm going to have to go through tonight. Mind telling me what I'm in for?"

"Sorry, I can't tell you that," you say to her, knowing from what Beast Boy told you that the whole thing is supposed to be kept on the hush hush.

"Come on," she says, resting an elbow on the table and resting her chin on the attached hand. "There has to be something you can tell me. Anything."

Well, Beast Boy did give you some kind of warning, so you suppose that it wouldn't hurt for you to do the same for Troia. She seems to take your moment of thought as hesitance and/or refusal, though, and so continues to plead with you.

"I'll pay for lunch next time," she offers. "It doesn't need to be anything major, just something."

"One Hell of a memory," you finally say to her. "That's what you're in for."

Before Troia can try to grill you further, you hear someone call that your meal is ready, and hastily go to retrieve it. You carry the trays back to the table, take a seat, and dig in to a greasy, tasty second lunch.

>To be continued

And that's all for tonight, friends. I hope you all had a good time.

So, I have a question for you guys. Am I writing Troia okay? Out of the Titans team at the moment, she's the one I have had less exposure to and familiarity with than all the others, and the character does have something of a reputation for blandness.

I'm not fishing for compliments, I'm just wondering if I'm doing alright with her so far, and, if not, suggestions for how to improve.
>>
>>2277687
Sure. Her personality seems innocent, in a sense, and good natured. Honest. I haven't seen any of her original material since i don't read comics, so i have nothing to base it on, but quite frankly this is your quest and your AU so write her however you like.

You shouldn't worry, if she was written poorly in the original material that won't mean she'll be boring or unliked here. Just give her a distinguished personality like the rest of the cast and it should work just fine.

Besides, I'm hoping there will be some degree of unspoken rivalry between Crimson and Troia,
>>
>>2277687
Honestly, since this is your take on the Titans, some liberties are fine.

Plus she seems likeable so far, so regardless of 'canon-icity' it's neat.

After enjoying a pleasant lunch, you and Donna return to the tower, and after an uneventful afternoon, the night rolls around. Donna's asked to go to her room for a short while, and when she's gone, you help the others in setting up her party.

There's a marvelous banquet prepared;pizzas, cyburgers, a variety of tofu dishes, chips, pretzels, popcorn, candy, and a sizable selection of Greek foods. Starfire insists on putting an overly large amount of streamers, banners, and balloons up. It reaches the point of garishness, but nobody has the heart to tell her that.

Donna eventually comes, dressed in the tutu, wearing the wig, and holding the rubber chicken. After the initial hazing (which she takes like a champ), everyone enjoys a fun evening with food and friends.

The party for Donna's joining of the team passes, but Cyborg quickly begins preparations for another type of party. He makes major upgrades to the television and sound system, then begins placing massive orders of food for the coming Sunday.

"Oh, right, the Superbowl," you recall, having forgotten that it was coming up. "It looks like you're excited."

"Of course I am," Cyborg tells you, stopping his preparations to come over and talk to you. "It's the biggest game of the year! Not to mention a great time to pig out with friends and see some really good commercials."

The Superbowl does have some awesome commercials, you have to agree there. And pigging out with friends to watch a big game is a lot of fun. It looks like Cyborg's going all out with this celebration, and you find that you're really excited to sit back and enjoy the game with your friends. You're so excited, in fact, that the only thing you want to do right now is help Cyborg get ready for the celebration.

He's glad for the assistance, and the two of you work tirelessly to set up the living room just right for the game. Virtually every snack food known to man has been gathered for this momentous occasion, Cyborg tells you that he put in an order for a whole mountain of pizzas, and endless wings. He also promises some of his world-famous cyburgers, hot dogs, and soft pretzels. You put up some basic decorations, make sure the living room is nice and clean, and shoot the breeze while you work.

Cyborg tells you that the two teams playing this year are the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots. You seem to remember the Patriots winning multiple Superbowls, and the Eagles not having made it to one since about thirteen years ago.

"I think pretty much the whole country's rooting for the Eagles," Cyborg tells you, his tone implying that he counts himself in that large majority.

>A. "I'm with them. Go Eagles!"

"I'm with them," you tell Cyborg. "Go Eagles!"

Cyborg gives you a high five. "Yeah! I knew you'd root for the right team!"

The hour arrives, and one by one, the Titans assemble in the living room. Some, such as Robin and Beast Boy, are pumped for the game. Raven, on the other hand, doesn't seem that interested, but at least shows up (though she brings a book with her, so you doubt she'll be paying very much attention). Starfire seems quite excited, though she's already asking a tirade of questions to Robin, who does his best to explain things to her. Troia seems mostly curious, admitting that she's had little exposure to this game, but looks forward to seeing what all of the fuss is about.

Everyone groups together on the couch, grabs their snacks, and watch the players take the field.

The first half of the game is quite exciting, with both teams making some fantastic plays, and some terrible blunders. Both the Eagles and the Patriots clearly want this, though by the time the first half comes to an end, the Eagles are leading by ten points. The players leave the field, and the half-time show is about to begin.

"Who's performing this year?" Robin asks, scarfing down a handful of pretzels.

"Justin Timberlake, I think," Beast Boy answers before stuffing his face with cheetos.

"I do not remember the Justin Timberlake looking so...heavy," Starfire remarks, her face twisting with confusion as she looks at the television.

Now, you're not really that familiar with this Timberlake guy, but you understand Starfire's confusion. Standing in the middle of the arena is a portly, redheaded man dressed in a weird overcoat and being quickly approached by security.

"Is that who I think it is?" Beast Boy asks, eyes going wide with horror.

"Control Freak..." Robin grumbles.

"Where's the Superbowl being held again?" you ask.

"Minnesota," Cyborg answers, not looking away from the screen.

As security closes in on him, Control Freak produces some weird kind of weapon. It looks like a laser sword or something, and after a few seconds, you realize that you saw this weapon on the front cover of the Clash of the Planets box set that you bought for Beast Boy. But that's sci-fi, do weapons like that actually exist?

Apparently they do, because security is backing off. Control Freak spins around, then produces a microphone seemingly out of nowhere, and begins speaking loud enough for everyone watching at home to hear.

"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!" he shouts obnoxiously into the microphone. "I am Control Freak! Master of media, tyrant of television, crusher of crud, and coolest of cool!"

You swear you can see chunks of food flying from his mouth as he yells his supposed titles into the microphone. Not very cool as far as you're concerned.

"Every year, you people sit glued to your televisions, watching like idiots while a bunch of muscle-bound jocks run up and down a field and tackle each other for a ball," he declares, earning a chorus of "boo"s from the crowd. "It's the same garbage every year, and you people eat it up like it's the greatest entertainment ever made!"

The boos continue, until Control Freak holds up some kind of device, and everything goes silent aside from him.

"Much better," he remarks. "Now, this year, I'm going to show you all some real entertainment! Tonight only, you will get to witness the Teen Titans fight for their lives against my team!"

"Say what?!" Cyborg demands.

"Wouldn't having a team require him to have friends?" Raven asks. "Or even people that can put up with him?"

"Behold, the mean team that will crush the Titans!" Control Freak shouts, and five figures appear around him.

All five are muscular, and have pointed ears. Aside from that, they have seriously different features. There's an orange-skinned, bald creature that towers over Control Freak. Matching him in stature are a purple-skinned thing with weird hair, and a green-skinned monster with a buzz-cut. A thinner cut taller blue one stands behind the trio, and in front is a smaller (relatively), red-skinned thing with a bald head.

"Now, it's time to introduce their opponents!" Control Freak declares, holding his device toward the camera.

Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Starfire, and Raven all tense up, while Donna looks at them with confusion and mild concern.

"Uh...should we be worried?" you ask.

That question is answered as light shoots from your television, and you find yourself standing in the middle of a packed football stadium, surrounded by once-again cheering fans and confused players.

Control Freak and his monstrous cohorts stand not far from you, and the red-haired lunatic looks at your group with surprised, wide-eyes.

"Wait a minute!" he shouts, marching right over to Donna and looking her in the eye. "Who the heck are you supposed to be? I was only expecting six Titans! Now I need to find one more person for my team...."

"I'm Troia," the dark-haired girl declares. "And you should be more worried about prison than finding a teammate."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Control Freak grumbles and marches back over to his team, getting behind them while he tries to think of who to add to his roster.

"So...are we just going to let him bring someone else into this fight?" Raven asks in a monotone.

"It would surely be easier to defeat six opponents than seven," Troia points out, seemingly already poising herself to attack.

"The audience here is expecting a show," Robin tells the team, and you're surprised to see that he's smiling. "I say we give them one. It's just Control Freak, we can handle him no matter how many monsters he brings to fight us."

"Is that right?" Control Freak demands, marching out in front of his team and holding out a device that you now recognize as a TV remote. "You forget, I can pull anything or anyone that's ever been on television into our reality! My friends here will take you all on without me, and I'll be getting our last player ready to go."

He turns to walk back to his team again, only to stop, hold up his remote, and press a button, starting music playing.

"Titans, go!" Robin shouts as the music pumps from the speakers, leading the others into a charge against Control Freak's team.

For now, you decide to hang back and provide support, readying yourself to put up barriers when your friends need them. All of the others move in to attack.

Troia makes the first strike, leaping at the red-skinned monster and kicking it right in the face, sending it rolling backwards over the turf. Starfire climbs into the air and starts throwing down Starbolts, but the blue-skinned monster shows an impressive vertical leap, springing up and grabbing Starfire in two massive hands, forcing her arms to her sides. Of course, that doesn't really hold her. As the monster lands, she shoots beams of light from her eyes and hits the blue-skinned bozo in the face, making him release her and use his hands to cover the now-burning area.

Raven uses her magic to bind the legs of the purple one, letting Beast Boy fly toward it as a hawk, then morph into a kangaroo as he shoots forward, kicking the monster in the face.

Cyborg goes toe-to-toe with the green one, while Robin evades and attacks the orange one, dodging the clumsy attacks of the creature as he hurls birdarangs at it. The green one takes a swing at Cyborg's head while your friend is preoccupied wrestling with its other arm, and you quickly create a barrier to defend your fellow Titan. The monster hits the barrier, and its hand turns red, swelling up like a balloon.

These guys don't seem all that tough, really.

Looks like it's time to join your team on offense. You rush forward and join Robin in confronting the big orange monster, slugging the creature with a Psychic Punch before you even reach the two of them, and creating more than enough of a distraction for Robin to draw his staff and strike the creature behind the knees.

When the creature falls, you rush in and jump, kicking it right in the face, which seems to cave in on itself. You're kind of horrified at first, but as you back away, you see its face return to normal, almost like it's filling back up with air. It growls and takes a swing at you, which you barely manage to block with a barrier.

Robin brings his staff down to strike the creature on the head. The monster's head rattles, and it gets a dopey expression on its face before falling forward and apparently being knocked out. Little birds fly around its head, and it suddenly fades away into nothing.

Control Freak looks more than a little perturbed by this, but then smirks as he looks to the other fights.

Cyborg has somehow had one of his arms removed, and is being slapped around with it. Beast Boy has turned into an armadillo, and is tossed by the purple monster toward the blue one, who spikes him toward Raven, hitting her in the face and knocking her to the ground. The red one spins so fast that it looks like a tornado, sucking up Troia and hurling her into the air, where she collides with Starfire.

This is not going well. You've gone back to support, putting up barriers where you can and defending your friends from the attacks of the oddly-colored creatures, but that's not doing much in the face of the constant, brutal strikes these ridiculous monsters are taking.

You manage to block a hit here and there, which generally prompts an over-the-top reaction of pain from the monsters. But, a lot of the other time, your barriers shatter, with you ultimately accomplishing little more than cushioning the blows.

Things are really turning against your team, with Cyborg having lost all of his limbs, two of which are being smacked against his body to create "music" while he shouts at the offending monster to cut it out. The monster listens, but goes after Troia. Robin's staff has been snapped in half, and his grappling hook is being used as a jump-rope by the green one. Beast Boy is being used as a hacky sack by the purple one, Starfire and Raven are having their bodies used for sword-fights between the red and blue one, and Troia is simultaneously being made to hit herself by the red one.

Meanwhile, Control Freak sits back with some popcorn and soda, watching the entire thing with clear amusement.

Fighting these monsters is something that obviously won't work, at least not with the approach you and your friends are taking. But, you don't need to fight them if you can get the remote from Control Freak.

While the multi-colored monstrosities are busy using your friends as toys, you make a beeline for Control Freak. Nobody seems to notice, not even your target himself, who is far too absorbed in laughing at the misfortune of your friends to pay you any mind. As your friends cry out in pain from the various torments being inflicted upon them, you feel your anger growing, and you want nothing more than to punch that corrupt couch potato in the face.

But, that's not what you're after, at least not yet. You need that remote. It can control the monsters, or even make them disappear. At least, you hope so. That thing makes you nervous, though. Who knows what else it can do? That's why you need to get it from Control Freak without being spotted.

His head begins to turn in your direction, and you make a split-second decision to teleport the rest of the way, sadness easy to find in your current situation as your ears are continuously subjected to the lamentations of your comrades. In an instant, you cover what distance remains between you and he, scaring the wits out of your portly foe, who yelps and flails his arms in alarm.

In that moment of fear and distraction, you grab hold of the remote, wrenching it from Control Freak's sweaty, dorito-crusted hand. This causes Control Freak to scream again, but you don't stick around to let him recover from this shot of fear. You turn and run with the remote, thinking of what to do to help your friends.

Well, maybe first you should try to figure out how this thing works. There are dozens, perhaps hundreds of buttons covering this thing, none of which appear to be properly labeled. You can't even tell where the power button is on this insane contraption.

"Give me that back, you fool!" Control Freak hollers as he gives chase (with surprising speed for a man his size). "You have no idea what sort of powers you're meddling with! You'll destroy us all!"

You look down at the remote.

>A. Start pressing buttons and see what happens

He's right about one thing; you have no idea what this thing can do, or how to use it. You do, however, have an idea.

The remote caused these monsters to pop up, so it would make sense that there'd be a way to reverse that. But, you have no idea what that way is, so if such a function does exist in this remote, then it's as good as useless to you. But, maybe there's another way. Maybe causing this remote to stop working will be enough. Breaking it is an option, but part of you decides that's dangerous and looks for another way. Simply removing the batteries would stop the remote from working, and maybe that would make the monsters disappear. It can't make things any worse than they already are, at least.

It's worth a shot.

Control Freak continues to scream for his remote as he chases you across the field, failing to make any real gains on you (those laps Robin's had you run are paying off). As you maintain your lead on the villain, you flip the remote over, looking for the battery compartment.

There it is!

You open it up, and remove a small, glowing, red cylinder.

That's an odd kind of battery. In fact, you're almost positive something like this isn't meant to be a battery at all, at least not for a TV remote.

"BE CAREFUL WITH THAT!" Control Freak shrieks, prompting you to stop and turn toward him. "Put that back in nice and gently, or you'll kill us all!"

That fear seems genuine, but it looks like removing the battery has had some effect. The monsters seem to be getting weaker, and somewhat transparent. They're fading away. At least, you think so.

Control Freak continues running toward you, desperation etched in his features. "Put that back in the remote, and give it back to me! I'll get rid of my monsters and leave! Come on!"

You've got a better idea. As Control Freak gets closer, you teleport once again, widening the gap between you and giving you quite the head-start to run with the remote. You're careful not to drop the battery, but you don't yet put it back into the remote, either. Instead, you watch the monsters, who seem to be steadily getting weaker and less corporeal. Your friends are able to fight back now (aside from Cyborg, who is taken away from the fight by Troia, who quickly goes to round up his limbs for reattachment).

Control Freak, meanwhile, continues to run after you to the best of his ability, though he seems to be slowing down, and his screams for you to return his remote are getting weaker.

He's not the only one feeling a little tired. Between your barriers, your exchange with one of those monsters, and the teleportation, you're starting to feel the effects of using your powers. It's nothing major, and you're certainly not down and out yet, but you may want to consider how best to pace yourself from here on.

That doesn't seem to be much of an issue, however, as Control Freak fails to catch you, and his monsters soon fade altogether. Once that happens, you stop running, and place the battery back into Control Freak's remote. Before he can make any more demands for its return, he's struck by Beast Boy, who takes the form of a ram and strikes him from the side.

It looks like this game's over.

The crowd cheers, and chants of "Titans, Titans" soon begin to echo all around you. It's a very nice feeling.

Robin sees to tying up Control Freak, and Starfire stands beside him while waving happily to the crowd. Beast Boy stands next to the captured crook in the form of a tiger to insure no funny business. Troia takes a moment to sort of bask in the crowd's adoration, positively beaming as people cheer for your team. Raven, in contrast, looks bored and impatient, clearly ready to get out of here.

Cyborg approaches you, holding out a hand. "Hey man, can I see that remote?"
