Last time in monster Quest, our monster had achieved a new evolved state, obtaining the form of a Baron, one of the lowest Royal Dron. They defended their lands, gathered their minions, and after a mysterious interaction with a colorful Robed figure in a mental dream of snows, they are now leading an assault on Lord Ilan’s airship to try and take control.

You begin to randomly flip switches, hoping something would come of the action as you felt the Escort begin to apply its titanic strength against you and your minions.

The sound of its head powering up was heard, and before it reached its crescendo, it stopped and powered down, it’s head weapon seeming down for now.

A new monster rises to take Dust's place
What kind of monster are you going to be this time? Who will be brave enough to fight against fate and survive?

>>Goblin: The once foot soldiers of the Dark Lord, twisted Fae creatures that once lived nomadic lives traveling between the Fae lands and the mortal kingdoms. The tribes, who stood as the connection between the two peoples, were kidnapped and corrupted until they became what they are today.

>>Fairy: the weakest of the Fae, the first children of creation and the once stewards of the world. Their king, Vlane, Sleeps due to a curse placed on him to end his attacks on the mortal kingdoms. Now the Fae are in the midsts of an eternal civil war, as only one of the royal line may lead the Fae and none have arisen yet.

>>Wisp: the weakest of the undead, lost souls who have almost forgotten who they are, cling to life as they Wander the world. Owing their existence to “She who Sleeps” the undead were a great threat in the Dark age, and seem to be growing potent once more.

>>Kobolds: Descendents of the great dragons of the first age, creatures who were the Primordial’s own power accidentally forming identities of their own before being slaughtered by the Fae in the war of creation. The Kobolds seek not only to return to the glory of their ancestors, but to also eradicate all the Fae out of a desire for vengeance.

>>Dron: Insect like creature who come from the magical wastes left from the Dark war, the Dron are the newest and least understood of all the monster. Able to rapidly adapt, and rumored to be able to eat anything, metal and magic alike, they are a rising threat to the Great races

With a quick order, the Dron hesitate for only a second before flying off through the door, just as they did the Golem fires past you. It’s laser nearly burns your flesh from just the heat, as it tore into the rooms floor...and the floor below...and the machinery below that.

An explosive thud was heard in the depths of the ship, and the lights dimmed as flashing red lights came to life.

The Escort turned its head, aiming to the side of the ship, to something outside as its eye began to charge again.

>What the hell did you do?

A voice screamed in your head, Snow’s voice. They sounded pretty winded, also terrified. You briefly wonder why until the Golem fires again, through a wall, and the ship starts to lean to the side.

There was a bit of silence, and you feel a face palm was done somewhere before they spoke.

>We need to get off this ship, that thing is gonna make sure this place is destroyed, and not a single piece survives.

You listen, as the Escort turns and starts walking towards the door you entered from, seeming to have a new target.

>Master Dagura, you must evacuate the area. I will inform the other passengers as scorched earth protocol is carried out.

You look to his back, and you see the screen now only has “Scorched Earth in progress, 5% complete”

No options present themselves, and a sinking feeling in your gut as you started to feel a little lighter.

Quickly grabbing the damage limb of the disarmed Purifier, you motioned for him to follow you as you charged through the doors, leaving the Escort to their path of destruction.

>If you get a second, maybe take a break from destroying the thing keeping us in the air, and come to the control room. I have a plan on how to stop you from kill us.

You charged forward, running down the halls along with other panicking Dagura, some to focused on surviving to notice you, and other cowering back into their rooms as you passed.

You see the girl from before, with her knives, holding onto a wall as another explosive thud shook the ship.

She glared at you and pulled out a knife “You!” She cried, and seemed ready to throw, until a Daguran noble bumped into her and a shake sent her flailing into a room, the door closing as you ran past

Eventually, you came The a rather ornate door at the head of the ship, pushing it open.

Standing bloody and cut up, a large creature looked over Ilan, who wielded a bloody rapier and a condescending smile as he walked towards an open door on the side of the room.

“To think, with how you’ve ruined this whole day, I thought you might have proved a challenge. Seems I was mistaken.” He said, before looking to you, his eye brow raised.

“And you...” he said, pointing his rapier at you, the blade beginning to glow brightly and make a sound like a higher pitched Escort’s eye. “You broke my things...”

Ilan yanks his weapon from your body, and seems prepared to skewer you once more, but instead he ducks beneath the swipe of the pale monster and stabs through their arm, the creature letting out a horrific screech as Ilan hopped away, seeming ready to take the fight seriously as he casts away his scarf and head covering, his horns on full display now.

Reaching out with your mind, you try to tap into the thoughts of the two other Dron on the ship. After sometime reach out and calling to them, you sense them near. Glancing up, you see the flying one holding onto the Screeching one, whose legs were stabbed into the bulkhead. They were hiding, trying to lay low and avoid detection.

>What do you tell them to do?

As your skin changes to try and get out of sight, Ilan let’s out a scoff and aims his rapier at your, firing a blast straight at your form before charging forward towards the pale beast, pulling out a smaller blade from his belt.

You narrowly avoid the attack, but it throws off your camouflage, making it to late as you run to try and flank the man. His defense is strong, and he somehow seems able to keep you in sight at all times even when fighting the larger beast.

Shooting across the room, you strike when you think you have a good shot, coming in low like a swooping hawk before sending your blade out at the man.

Just before you Blade met his flesh, your heard a ting of metal hitting metal, and felt your blade stop in its tracks. In your Blades path, the small weapon in Ilan’s off hand blocked it. With a smooth and deadly motion, Ilan deflected you sword and sent his own to strike at your wounded arm, nicking it once more.

You push forward with your spear, nearly nailing Ilan to the ground until he just manages to barely free himself and roll away, his arm hanging uselessly at his side as he backed away just a bit more. Staring at both you and the Pale beast, he growled out and ran towards the door you entered from.

Just before he escaped, he threw his rapier across the room, having it impale the console and send sparks flying out.

“Warning, all control lost. Entering uncontrolled course. One minute until impact”

The Pale beast began to shrink in size, it’s body twisting and compressing over time.

>We need to get in this room. It’s a special room that will apparently take us away from the ship.

Snow said in your mind, the Pale beast continuing to shrink and move towards the room you had both defended. The room was small though, and seemed to have very little room.

Grabbing the rapier from the console, you feel a brief tingle of electricity course through your body as you yank the weapon, an arc of green electricity racing between the blade and the rest of the console. You then turn to Purfiying, seeing Snow where the pale beast had just been climbed by into the room.

You look the Purifier in the eye, and then give the order: Seek and detonate. Without even a nod, the Golem turned on its heel and sprinted after Ilan, a soft hum escaping the machine that disappeared along with it through the door. With that handled, you ran towards the room, ordering the Dron to follow as you sat down and strapped yourself in. The two from swooped in, the flying one resting on your lap and the screamer doing the same on snows. With one last warning from the voice from the ship, snow hit a button and there was a sudden weightlessness that was felt by everyone in the room. Then with a jolt that nearly threw you across the room had it not been for the straps, you felt the room shake and begin to rapidly move in a direction you assumed was away from the airship.

A few seconds after you began to move, the room began to jostle and shake, before suddenly stopping, making your head hit the wall and cause he world to go to black.

The darkness melts away as you start to come to, and you immediatly see green. The same green that had filled you with all those emotions the first time you saw it on the airship through the tiny window.

A soft breeze blew over you body, and the small rustling of trees was like a symphony that makes you understand just why Dron always tried to leave the Manawastes. This place, this land the mortals kept for their own, felt like home, more than the Manawastes ever did.

In the midst of this thought, you realize another thing. You were upside down, still strapped into your seat but conspicuously not inside the strange room you ha centered with Snow and the other Dron.

Quickly unstrapping yourself, you land on the ground gracefully, before standing tall and looking around. The air smelled of smoke and Ashe, with the sky turning black a red in the West. To the north, you see broken trees and small fires going down a single path, likily where the rest of the room was.

To the South and east though, there were just trees, the only difference being a fear stood to the east, looking at your with hesitation as you stared at them.

You briefly try to call out to snow or the other Dron, but you do not get reply. Seems you are alone for now.

Deciding it best to meet up with your fellow Dron, you follow the path of destruction north, abandoning your landing sight to be consumed by the world over time. Not much bothers you along the way, the crash likily having scared away the wildlife and being so deep in the first likily meant there wasn’t much in the way of sentient life around.

So when you came across the broken open room, partially charred, and a group of twelve mortals of various sizes all wearing similar clothing, you had to pause in order to gather your thoughts.

“Any signs of others?”

“No, looks like the Pale one and the two juveniles were the only ones on the craft.”

“We can’t take any chances, Search the area. I’ll lead some people to try and track them down, so keep your eyes peeled and retreat if you think things are to hairy. The last thing we need to do is give these things Biomass cause someone was feeling extra stupid today”

Six mortal set and up begin to head north, while the remaining six seem to be organizing some sort of search.

Finally, They stop, all but one gathering around somehing as one of them stood watch.

Snow says in your mind, though you can’t see where she is.

Before he man can even make a sound, your newly acquired rapier pierces through his skull and out the other side. You abandon the body, keeping the idea to come back for it later in your head as you made Snow your priority. Moving through the forest as quietly as you could, you are sure you’de catch up with the mortals in no time.

What surprised you is that not only did you not, but you infact saw snow before them, the Pale Dron appearing from a tree and floating over to you.

“There you are, did you kill the hunters?” Snow asked, looking around hesitantly as they held the side “They just suddenly disappeared after a weird screeching noise happened.”

The two smaller Dron appeared from behind snow, seeming in good shape despite all the hassle that had been occurring.

You explain to her how you had only killed one of them, and had expected to catch up with them rather quickly. You both stand there a bit confused, before Snow sighs “This is strange, but we can’t dwell on it. We should go back and consume that corpse you left, then find ourselves someplace for a shelter.”

Deciding to let the Pale one lead the way instead of taking charge yourself, you head north with her and the other Dron, putting more distance from the crash and the burning airship.

Hours pass as you walk, and the forest gets no thinner, with the day light seeming to slowly fade as the evening approached.

A quick check from above the canopy line, easily passed thanks to your ability to climb, allows you to discern a few options.

>East (A large mountain rises above the trees, alone, and with several trails of smoke pouring from areas dotting the sides of the landmark)

Deciding to avoid civilization all together for the time being, You and all the other Dron find themselves in the middle of a clearing, with the stars beginning to appear in the sky as the sun begins to set.

Snow seems to be looking around, tapping their chin in thought “We’ll have to spend a couple hours digging if we want to make a proper shelter, but none of us are really built for it. If only we had a burrower or something with us.” She said, going to the ground and starting to shovel earth with her bare hands.

With the help of you ever increasing intellect, you devised some rather interesting traps. There were the two pit falls you made, as even some trip ropes out of vines, but you were particularly proud of a log swing you set up should someone knock the trigger aside, which would definitely kill any normal Mortal instantly you thought.

Standing confidently, you spend the next few hours securing the camp and tuning your traps, before turning in in the canopy of a tree, making sure you could have a clear view of the clearing should some invader come and poke around.

No such thing occurs that night, and you sleep rather well.

Infact, you so easily slip into your dream, that you almost forget you are asleep, only remembering as your panicked mind tries to deal with the appearance of the Robed figure from before looming over you.
