Commune in DC is shit.

Between the bumper to bumper traffic, the blaring horns, and the occasional road-rage episode, it's a wonder you moved out here as well as you did.

No, you know perfectly well why. It's to satisfy your nagging business partners, the name your administrators have decided to start calling themselves to not look as much of slave drivers around you. You got promoted to assistant manager, but what does that really mean when you're still working at a damn Wal-Mart.

Current state of affairs for Erick Vanders, age 22, college dropout with dead dreams, and deader sex life. This was routine of course, having lived in the city and with the commute for about a month now. You don't really know anyone, nor really do want to know anyone. What would it matter anyways, you're just gonna get transferred out at the whims of your superiors anyways, probably to Maryland this time. Fuck Maryland.

'Supercenter my ass,' you think bitterly, 'you can make an outhouse into a septic tank and it will have shit in it.'

A flash of green, and a blaring horn from the land-whale in the minivan behind you prompt you to keep your car moving forward. You hold the urge to flip her off, and focus more on getting the hell back home to the comfort of your bed and drink cooler.
As you pass a second traffic light though, traffic begins to slow down significantly, until it comes to dead stop near L & 9 NW.

>Blare your horn, maybe those assholes fell asleep.
>Take out your cell, check the news or the map for any accidents

You keep your foot squarely on the brake, and reach for your cell.

Screen's cracked on one end, but you've been able to operate the touchscreen well enough.

You skim through the first two headlines, one detailing a reconstruction project in an old shopping center, and another about the growing homeless population in the city. Nothing that interests you honestly, so you move the screen to your destination.

'Headlines' -> 'Traffic' -> 'Accident Report'

Arlington reports a collision near the beltway, but nowhere near you. There's a faulty traffic signal in 12th SW, but nothing that should affect your route.

'Why the fuck is everyone just standing there for?', you think as you hear police sirens coming near. Maybe the accident was closer than you think.

Then again...doesn't a firetruck or ambulance usually accompany the police if that's the case? And what's that smell? There's something like, rotting eggs and swamp water entering your sedan.

>Open up the windows, get rid of that odor and try to signal someone.

You put the car in park, take your keys, and head outside of the interior.

As you step out though, you notice a few other drivers have gotten out of their cars as well. They all seem to be heading towards the intersection, or at least moving forward in group. Not only that, but whatever that smell is, it is outside in force.

The police sirens seem to be getting closer now, but still no ambulance or firetruck wails.

Whatever it is, it is probably best not to stay here at least, and you follow where the crowd is headed. You try to ask them if they know something, but they are as confused as you are.

As you reach the intersection you notice that traffic is also stopped at the secondary points there as well, so there are stopped cars coming south. Though that pales in comparison to the crack in the road you see several people looking towards.

Throughout this whole thing it has dawned on you however, that whatever that smell, that permeated into your car and has grown stronger as you approached the intersection, is originating here.

There's about 15 people surrounding this thing, and 1 that is taking several steps closer for the sake of curiosity and possibly bravado.

You're one to not naturally take many risks, thinking things through was always your thing. But there's also the spectre of crowd mentality lingering on you and that growing shade of going against the flow. You want to look cool, but also to make the rest of these people look like cowards for not going through with this.

Any sort of self-important justification fades as you step closer to the crack. The ground feels somewhat light, and even soft as you make your way closer. That smell is now at it zenith, and it is positively covering you now. There's no vapor, or steam but a weird hissing sound regardless as you reach the opening. It's almost like a ga-

"EVERYONE CLEAR THE AREA!"

You hear shouting behind you as the police sirens final reach the stopped traffic. The officers are out on foot, and with megaphones in hand, each moving to clear the crowd as some head closer to your location.

"GET INDOORS! THERE'S A GAS LEAK IN THE AREA!"

Oh shit.

Immediately, the crowd disperses, and you don't need to be told twice to get out of dodge. Yet as your feet move to run, you hear a shaking crack near you. You look behind to see the crack growing out, and the soft pavement gives way under your foot. You feel a surge of heat with your foot inside there.

You pull with all of your strength, and your foot manages to budge out of the crack. There's burn marks at sides of your sneakers, and you thank god it was only just one foot.

Though, as you take another step forward, your entire leg sinks along with part of the pavement around it. You feel something hard at the bottom, but from the sound it makes, you cant tell it is metal and very, very hot.

You try to pull it out, but the pavement is caving in around your leg, and you're not making a budge getting loose.

"Hold on there!", a voice shouts, and you see a black haired police officer approaching you. She wraps her jacket around your leg, and makes two handles to pull on from the arms. There's beads of sweat forming on her brow, and her hands a shaking from how she holds the arm. That hissing is getting louder...

"Remain calm", she ironically commands, "and pull on three."

"3!"

You physically strain your arms as the your leg becomes loosened out of the hot pavement. You feel the fabric on the officer's jacket begin to tear, as she groans back to free you.

Yet, you two manage to dislodge your leg out the pavement. There's a sharp pain in your arms, bruising in your leg, and mean burn on the side of your foot, but you ignore them as you are helped up to your feet and catch a glance at your savior.

Brown skinned, latina probably, and most likely a rookie considering how shiny her badge and uniform are. You only ogle her so much before you both start running from the crack.

You don't make it halfway to the other-side of the crossing sign before a loud explosion knocks you both off your feet. A wall of heat and noise is erupted from your previous location, and encroaches upon you both with breakneck speed.

A horrible pain racks ears, and a burning sensation is crawling up to you. Your foot...is no longer there. You can't even find where it is, it's almost as if it is...just gone.

But that's not the worst thing, as you notice that the officer's legs are gone. She's still alive somehow, and her screams are filling your ears as her blood is pooling on the pavement.

+1 Trust [Officer Torrez]

There's a blinding pain in your leg, but it doesn't compare to anything yet as you put pressure onto it with the officer on your back.

You figured there's no time to stop the blood flow from her legs, you only hope that you can make it to safety before you both bleed out.

You steadily place pressure on your foot, getting down on all fours when the pain becomes too unbearable to go on hopping.

You make it past the first row of cars when she speaks out, "I was...supposed to save you...you know..."

"You did," you manage out, "Now, stop talking, you're gonna tire yourself out faster if you do."

She chuckles in pain as you continue onwards. You begin to shout into the street, yet it is filling up with so much smoke and burning crackles that you doubt anyone could see or hear you.

You suddenly hear a similar sound coming behind you. The explosion is far away enough to not affect you, but the shock-wave knocks you both on the ground. The same cannot be said about the gray sedan that's tipping over onto you both.

Between those two seconds of several tons of steel and rubber about to splatter you on the sidewalk, you wonder exactly why you didn't just call in sick. There is a sharp, instantaneous pain in your neck, then your head as a bumper splatters your brain matter across the pavement.

For a few moments, you feel a blank haze in your mind, like being submerged in the ocean. It only lasts a few moments before your eyes catch light again and your brain tries to keep up them in trying to make sense of your current situation. There is a light hanging from the ceiling that's making the process a little more difficult.

'Ok...slow down, one thing at a time.'

Your surrounding are that of a new apartment, or possibly a small condo given how pristine the room you're in looks like. There's a window to a balcony overlooking DC, though you can't tell where in the hell you could be right now given you only know portions of the city in your commute.

In front of you, there's 5 people. Three of them are dressed in normal looking clothes, two are caucasian males, middle aged with their receding hairlines, and the third is a black female, probably still in high school given her size.

The other two, a black and a white man, are wearing some strange black, skintight suit and are holding some strange looking...guns? They look more like toys than anything.

Strangest thing however, is that large black ball in the far center of the room. It is pristine, almost like obsidian and perfectly round in every way possible.

This all takes about 5 seconds to very haggardly process before the white oddly dressed fellow starts speaking to you.

"Hey kid," he stares intently at you, "You alright there? You look as if you've seen a ghost."

The black man knocks him in the back of the head, "Knock it off Chris, that joke got old the first time you did it."

"Am I, dead?"

There's a bit of meekness in your voice as you speak this out. Everyone responds in silence, but Chris chortles to himself.

"Yeah!," he laughs, "And I skintight Grim Reaper, come to take your limp dick soul."

He's got a shit eating grin on his face as he comes closer and points that weird looking gun at you. Everyone in the room is visibly cowering as he does this, but the black guy just pushes him away.

"Will you shut your damn mouth already?" He moves him to the wall, and Chris complies, "Listen kid, you're not dead. And for the sake of repeating my point, no else here is dead."

"Wait," you're trying to process this, "but I died! A fucking car fell on me!"

"Yeah," the black girl interjects, "same here, I got shot on my way home. They've been tellin' us that the ball brought us back."

"We all saw it," says one of the middle aged men, "my partner and myself both got here before you both, and we got killed in a car accident."

"Then let me make it more clear," the black guy speaks up, "We're not dead. We died, but we're here now because of that." He points at the ball.

"And soon enough, it's gonna open up, and we're gonna do what it says, because otherwise-"

"You'll die for real," Christ finishes his statement.

"OK, we died and we've been brought back to life by this thing...why?"

"We don't know man," Chris speaks up, "we're just back here, alive, and ready to shoot some bitches."

"What my friend is trying to say is," the black guy interjects, "we were brought back because that ball wants us to follow its orders. It's gonna open up, and tells us to go after something. We either do what it says, or we die."

Dying. Not Dying. Black Ball. Following Orders. Skintight Grim Reaper?

As your brain struggles to make sense of everything that's been said for the past few minutes, it dawns on you that there's someone missing here...

"Hey, you" you look at the black guy, "did you see a policewoman come here? She's shorter than me, and looks latina."

"Name's Dante," he looks at you bluntly, like he's offended or something, "and yeah, she's over near the door. Been trying to kick it down for the last two minutes, and pointing a gun both of us."

"Damn near ended that bitch," Chris chuckles, "if she hadn't put that piece down."

You don't listen to more of their ramblings before you're out of the room and into the hallway and listen in to radio static a voice trying to call for back up.

"How the hell does this thing not have any signal?"

You see the officer slumped near the door, sweat on her brow, and a police walkie hanging loosely from her hip. She takes notice of you as you take a step closer.

"Hey hero," she starts with a joking smile, "didn't think I'd see you again."

"Yeah, likewise...", you start, "but, when did you get here?"

"Dunno," she says, "came in after that black girl though."

She looks at the ground, takes a deep breath, and gets up.

"Listen, I don't know what those two weirdos have been saying in the other room, but so far, you're probably the only thing that makes sense in here. So, before you say anything else, I am getting you a beer after this is over, alright? You're over 21 right?"

"Yeah," you reply back, "but maybe we should listen to them. Something's not right here and they are the only ones that seem to know...something."

"Alright," she makes her way to the room, "let's see what we got then."

As you both make it back to the room, Dante and Chris seem to be explaining something about...aliens to the group.

May it's time to listen rather than speak out. Maybe this will all start making sense if we just take our time to process what we're given.

"If you don't want to believe it then," Chris careens his head towards the black girl, "that's your fucking funeral."

"Really," the slightly less balding middle aged man speaks up, "then where's your proof? All you have here is something out of a weird European bordello, explain to me where the ALIENS come into this? You got weapons sure, but how real are those things really?"

"You want to see a demonstration old man?" Chris's weapon begins to glow blue around the front, but before anything else happens, Dante stops places a hand on one of the weapons triggers and the glowing stops.

"We're not doing this now," he states, "and cool your fucking head already. Save it for the fucking game."

He briskly let's go of the weapon, and Chris gives him a frustrated look. The black girls goes to interject, before the oddest melody starts playing...out the big black ball?

Following the song, and first message, the ball displays two strange images, and some odd text afterwards.

[J3w 5hmuck5 wi11 n0w g0 0u7, @nd ki11 7h3s3 6uy5]

[Posto Alien] - [Characteristics - Fast, Big Teeth] - [Likes - Fish, Meat]

[Micro Alien] - [Characteristics - Slow, Bad Breath] - [Likes - Fish, Frogs]

As soon as the message is plastered on the ball, it opens up its sides into two mechanically succinct sections. One side with what look like metal cases, and the other with more of those strange looking guns those guys had.

Dante moves to the rack on the left and picks up one of the cases. "I would suggest that you take the case with your name on it," he points to the name, it's yours, "if you want to make it through tonight, then put it on and take one of the guns from the racks."

He hands you the case, and there's one of those black suits in there. The officer looks at you, "You gonna do as he says?"

"Never been much of a follower," you stand up, "But, I think I'm a little out of my league to start questioning so much."

You head out to the hallway to change, but before you go the officer stops you.

"It's Paula," she states, "Paula Torrez. I never got to say it to you, and I would feel bad if we 'died' again if I never told it to you."

"Erick Vanders," you reply, nodding your head, "nice to meet you. And I think we'll be fine."

The suit itself rides up as hilariously tight as you thought. It took you a second to figure out the little knobs on the sides actually tighten the thing so, can't really blame your intuition on that.

As you step out to the room, the black girl has her case and is heading into the hall. Her name is Carol Adams, from the print on the steel. This is the only glance you get as the the middle aged men are staring intently at the ball's 'screen'.

"So," the slight older one asks, "what are they? They sure don't look like aliens."

"What did you expect an alien to look like," replies Chris, "big headed, with round eyes going 'hey fellas, I'm gonna stick this needle in your ass!"

"Do always have to speak like that?," says Paula, "It hasn't been funny, not since the moment we arrived."

Chris gives her a chiding look, but goes back to leaning on the wall. Both of the old men are looking at the rack now, each holding a gun and weighing them in their hands. You head there as well, but...which one to choose...

You take the pistol and the weirder looking pistol. They are surprisingly light, and feel like plastic, yet the wiring on the second one makes it feel like it's going to discharge if keep touching the front caps.

The black girl comes back changed and...well, it was certainly tight on the guys but...it's something a bit more on the girls. 'Can't be thinking that about a high schooler...' you chastise yourself, ' though I wonder if Paula...'

Paula goes to the rack, and finds her own suit. She gives you a look of mild amusement, probably at how ridiculous the thing looks on you, and heads out to the hallway.

"Hey new guy," Dante speaks up to you, "You want a lesson?"

You nod your head, and he replies in kind, "Aim, then press both triggers, and make sure you're at least 5 or so meters from what you're shooting. That goes for anyone that has one of these." He holds up one of the pistols.

The others nod in unison. It seems that whatever skepticism they had is ebbing away. Though, you think it may be that group mentality of monkey see - monkey do.

Before long though, a strange blue light is shown from the black ball and is aimed right at Chris. Before your eyes you see his body be 'deconstructed' by this laser looking light, as it takes him apart slab by slab.

OOC: FANSERVICE

You knock on the door, asking, "Hey Paula? You finished in there? It doesn't take that long to put that thing on."

She doesn't respond. She could be ignoring you. Or she could fallen, and knocked herself unconscious trying to put that suit on...

"Hey," you call out again, out of the corner of your eye, you see that laser take Dante away, "You OK in there?"

That laser starts going after one of the middle aged guys, with one of them complaining that they never got to put their suit on, and the other saying it would have looked idiotic anyways. The one getting teleported is getting taken with the case he's holding. So it takes anything you're holding onto? Neat.

You push this out of your mind as you rationalize that since she didn't answer, it's no longer your fault for barging in on her changing. At least that's the excuse you're giving yourself for opening the door.

She's next to stark naked, with the suit's top half barely covering her breasts, and the bottom half riding down her legs. You exchange glances for a second, and immediately close the door after she screams out at you.

"Hehe," she's half chuckling to herself, probably in panic "sorry, I had to take it off since these dumb buttons started compressing this stupid thing."

"Hehe," you chuckle, in equal panic as the Carol is lasered away, "yeah, sorry as well. You may want to hurry up though, I think you're next."

"Next?", she asks, "Next for wh- Oh, shit!"

Yup. This is gonna be awkward when we get to wherever we're going...

You point the gun at the farthest floor board in the room and depress both triggers. The gun's barrel expands, and a shine comes from the front.

Nothing happens for a second, and you actually look at the thing and see if you didn't switch something on. It is then that the wood shakes slightly, and explodes in a large gash of splinters.

There seems to be a slight delay on the gun's 'bullet', but jesus is that strong.

"Hell, yeah," you manage to say as the ball's laser begins to take you away.

"Holy fuck," you hear Chris's familiar voice speak out in hearty laugh, "Never thought I'd see a cop's ass in my life."

You notice that Paula's still in the process of putting the suit on, and she's moving to...one of the crab shacks.

"Maine Ave?", states one of the middle aged men, "What the hell are we doing on the pier? I thought we were going to outer space."

You were planning on heading out here on the recommendation of one of your coworkers, but...probably not like this, and not at night.

"Alright," Dante speaks up, "To anyone that has one of these," he points to a device on his wrist, "press the big button once to find anything that moves, we're gonna go look for the aliens. Stick close and watch your sides."

It looks like the middle aged men are going to follow them but the black girl looks unsure....

You speed past the two groups and go looking for Paula near the Captain's Crabshack. After looking through the main shop you decide to go to the back, and find her pressing the buttons on her suit. She's actually done changing and is looking around herself for something...

"Erick!", she looks up at you, looking at your hip, "mind giving me a gun? Took too damn long with putting this thing on and didn't even get armed."

+1 Trust [Officer Torrez]

You hand her the pistol, and instruct her on how to utilize it. She takes a few potshots into the water, and actually finds that there's a delay between shots, about 2 seconds.

She's deadly accurate though, as she manages to blow the branch off a log straight within the gun's full range. That police training is nothing to snuff at.

"You're a man after my heart Mr. Vanders," she laughs, "now, where are these things we're supposed to be hunting?"

There's a slight tremble in the crabshack, as it is literally floating the water, as it feels like there's some weight that got added to it. Paula motions you to move behind her, and she peeks into the shack through the back door. She instantly flits back to you, and you can hear the smacking of something wet on the front of the store.

"It's there," she whispers to you, "like a crocodile with long legs."

You go to peek out at what she mentioned, and you take a long look at something straight out of prehistory. The long, powerful hind legs and powerful jaws help this beast easily snack up the crabs and fish in the shack's front. It hasn't spotted you, but every moment you see this thing move its head, your brow grows heavier with sweat.

You don't have a scanner on you, but look at Paula's wrist give you an idea on your next step.

You quickly instruct her on how to utilize it, and sure enough it shows four dots. You're guessing the central one is Paula, and you're the one next to her. The crocodile looking alien is the one closest to you but there's another on in the water.

Given that it's night out, there's no way you can see into the murky waters, but it looks to be about 10 meters away from your location. If only this thing could tell you how deep in the water it is...

"Alright, here's the plan" you whisper to Paula, "Stay behind me, I will shoot it first, and if it's not dead, you can take the next shot."

You bank to the other side of the door way and let Paula take the opposite side. You ready yourself, and pray that you can figure this thing out on the spot.

You peek out of your position, take a step back and pray that this thing works with you the same way the previous gun did.

You depress both triggers, and three glowing pods shoot out of the gun's front. A glowing, laserlike wire moves in unison with the pods, and they wrap around the alien. What's more, the pods then extend to the floor of the crabshack and anchor themselves between the displays and the one of the fridges.

He's stuck, and it looks like he's not getting out. Immediately afterwards, Paula moves with two separate burst from the pistol. The alien cries out, a guttural cry to the sky, and it's head and tail are separated from its body in a blood, gory explosion.

"Holy fuck," Paula mentions, looking at her weapon, dumbfounded at the sheer power it has, "Nice shooting by the way, that was some real expert wrangling."

Before you can anything else, you hear another similar guttural cry, and notice that Paula's scanner is showing several more dots converging on your position. Two from the other crabshacks, and 2 two in the water.

"Up the ladder," you speak forcefully, as you move towards the other side of the shack. Those things are getting moving fast to your side, but you both make it to the roof before they realize where you went.

Keeping your head down, you peek out to the from your vantage point and spot the 2 crocodile aliens moving back to the front of the shack.

"They have our scent," Paula chimes in a whisper, "My dad used to hunt black bears near Appalachian, and he always said that when a predator has your scent, it's gonna stick close try to find out where its prey is."

You both head out of their line of sight, and to the center of the roof.

"Alright, then," You manage, "What's the plan then? We can't just stay here. The others are still out there, and I don't even know wha-..."

Your gaze looks out towards the center of the pier. You caught but a glimpse of it, but...there was something really big, like a small hill peaking out of the water before it submerged.

Whatever it was, it is heading right for the concert stadium on the far side of the pier.

You pray that wherever that thing goes, is nowhere near where the others are. You have a pair of fingers snap you out of that thought.

"Hey Erick," Paula hisses at you, "Listen to me, I got a plan to get these bastards but you're free to tell me otherwise."

You cautiously nod your head to hear her out. "Alright, I am going to lure those two bastards onto the main square and have them join up at the middle. I'm going to need you to shoot one of those anchors at them both and get them stuck together."

"And we can finish them off," you look at her warily, "at the same time...you're fucking crazy."

"Unless you have a better plan to deal with their numbers," she chides back, "I would like to hear it. Also, these things only have so much range so we can't just pick at them all that much."

>Go with her plan, risky but you can take out two birds with one stone.

You want to say no, but killing both those aliens simultaneously may just give you the opening you need to escape and find the others. You just wish the plan wasn't so damn risky.

"Don't get yourself eaten," there is genuine concern behind your voice, "okay?"

"Yeah," she replies in equal concern, "but, you won't let me down."

You go to position yourself to the farthest side of the roof, and so does Paula. On your signal, she will jump, and draw the attention of both of them to the center. From then on, it is up to your reflexes.

There's a break in the aliens' pattern, and the move to the farthest crabshack, turning away from you both.

"This is it," She chimes in, "Wish me luck."

"Don't die before you can buy me that beer," you chime back, "Officer."

She smiles at that and takes a running start off of the roof. Doing a running leap out off of the roof, she manages to stick a landing roll, and proceeds to the aliens. Upon reaching the middle of the pier, Paula lets out a commanding whistle, as if she's training wild dogs. There's a sudden chill in your spine as both of the aliens turn to her at the same time.

They run towards her, she runs back, and with the small window of time they're close, you press both triggers.

With that now familiar *cling*, the pistol fires its harpoons at the two aliens, and tangles them up in its laser mesh. They're stuck together on the ground, but are struggling so much that the wires are actually expanding slightly.

Paula goes to finish them off quickly, and fires two consecutive shots into their heads. One of their heads is turned to splattered blood and gore, but the other one only receives a glancing shot to its lower jaw and blows off a good portion of its teeth.

Before Paula can get another shot off, the still living one manages to find it's footing and the anchors attach to its underbelly. It is weighted down by the carcass of its friend, but it is more or less free and it is gunning for Paula.

It is not the most elegant entrance, but you land with enough force onto the alien that actually falls prone to the floor. It's legs give out , and it's jaw hits the floor with a painful *crack*.

You notice something though, a slight cushion on your suit, like something's around you dampening the pain from the impact.

With this opening, Paula fires a final shot at the creature's head, exploding it and bathing yourself and her in gore.

You both take a glance at the other, and you take a sigh of relief. Paula let's out a laugh of exaltation and goes to get you down from the pile of gore.

"Told you," she pokes your forehead, "I knew you wouldn't let me down."

"You still owe me that beer," you poke her right back, "Officer."

The gamble worked, both of the aliens are dead and the path to the rest of the pier is open.

Paula goes to check on the scanner and see that the remaining aliens are moving north, towards the concert hall...

"Why are they going there?" Paula asks, slightly worried, "are the others there?"

"Maybe," you reply in equal worry, "But there's something else, there's something big, something REALLY big in the water, and I saw it head to the far end."

Paula smacks her forehead, but realizes why you kept the information from her. If she had not kept her cool during your plan worrying about the others, then it might have ended much differently.

"Come on," she moves out of the shack. "We got to get there now, and make sure the others are alright."

"Wait, there's something else as well," you turn to look out to the pier, "The black girl, Carol, she's still out there. I saw her, she was afraid and unsure of who to follow. We got to find her, because if she's dead then it is my fault for leaving her there."

There's a glowering glance your way from Paula, but at the same time she makes for the main road towards the pier and starts poking her scanner.

"Alright, if we're gonna look for her, we need to stick together and map out our surroundings," she motions you closer, with a slightly sullen look, "I'm not gonna blame you for killing that girl if she's dead, but it's still not something I wholly approve of Erick if you left her alone like that."

You want to retort, but there's a weight in your throat that prevents from doing so. She's probably right, but you won't retort back. It is your responsibility anyways.

Not long after you two make it to the pier's main road, Paula makes a breakthrough with the scanner. She holds the directional buttons down, and manages to zoom out the scanner and increases it's range.

"Alright," she speaks up between running, "There's something really big on the concert hall...but, I don't sit there from our current view. Also, there's two dots in one of the shops a few meters ahead. One of them is just...standing there, and the other seems to be circling that dot."

"Shit," you blurt out increasing your step, "that's her and it's probably one of those damn crocodiles again."

You both hurry your step towards the Brighton Bar.

The door's been shattered open, probably by that alien. Sure enough, as you both enter those doors, you find that it is circling around a distressed a Carol on a balcony.

"3!"

With equal precision and bravado, you both burst into the dining hall. The alien lurches back to you two but it is too little too late before your anchors secure it to the white pillar hold up up the balcony. It only manages to utter one final groan as only it's head remains on the pillar, the rest of its body exploded over the tables and fancy dining cloths.

There's a momentary sigh of relief before Carol comes down from the balcony, jumping onto the broken segments of a stairwell and to the floor. But she doesn't go to thank you, but instead goes to kick, and stomp and shout at the bloody chunks of the alien. She gets so wild on it that blood begins splattering her face and body, so much so that Paula has to restrain her in her arms. She struggles for a few moments before she finally breaks down crying her arms.

"It's alright," she says to the scared girl, "You're fine now, you're safe."

"A-andrew..." she manages to say between sobs, "He's dead, and so is J-john."

You quickly wonder who she's referring to, until it clicks that they must have been those two men that accompanied Chris and Dante.

"Why, what happened?" You ask, "Please, we need to know what happened the moment we separated."

Carol wipes the tears from her eyes and moves past Paula's arms.

"They, tried to protect me," she mentions, "I went with them, because I was scared, not of being alone, but to be alone with them Chris and Dante."

She continues, "After they killed all of the aliens between the pier and the concert hall, Chris got agitated. Said he was getting bored of the game, with the aliens and everything. So, he approached me, he said he want to have sex with me, and I said no...but...he..."

She goes back into crying sobs, still manages to speak between them, "Dante tried to stop him, but he just tossed him into the water. He never came back up again, but something came out of the water. Something huge, and took Chris under with a massive tongue..."

"Those men and myself, we ran, until one of those things came to attack us. They tried to fend them off but...oh god..."

She can't finish the sentence before she breaks down completely.

Paula looks at you with wary eyes. This night, is only getting worse by the moment.

Alright guys, this is it for tonight.

I will be back tomorrow evening at 2 PM EST, or earlier, to finish up the first hunt.

Be aware, there were two fail states you all thankfully avoided here, so thank your proper judgement luck.

Check up on my twitter if I have any updates, or changes in the schedule for tomorrow. I will try to run on Fridays and the weekends, but I may shift around if my job permits me.

Anyways, PEACE.

After Paula finishes drying the last of Carol's tears with a clean table cloth, she gives you a begging look.

"We can't stay here," Paula says, "those bastards with the long legs are gone, we can just take Carol and get out of here."

"We can't," says Carol in a sullen voice.

"Why not?", you reply, as the idea had crossed your mind considering how dangerous this whole thing had gotten. Chris and Dante never mentioned just walking away from this thing, so it doesn't seem like a terrible idea.

"There's a bomb," Carol speaks up, "Or something that causes your head to explode if you try to leave the wharf. That's how John died."

"He tried to leave with me after Andrew distracted that monster, and as we got out to the road, this noise started buzzing in my ears. John heard it too, but he kept running until...his head just...exploded."

There's a look of horror in Paula's face, which is mirrored in your own. This...is not just a nightmare anymore, this is pure hell...

Rolled 12 + 2 (1d20 + 2)

There's a horrible image of your own head exploding. The flying viscera and brain matter swirl in your mind for a few moments, before you manage to ease yourself out of the terror infused stupor.

You look at Paula, and you see a similar expression ease off of her own face. She starts pressing buttons on her scanner, and you guess quickly enough what she's trying to do.

"We can't escape then," you look at Carol, and she nods in reply, "fine then...I guess we just have to finish off these things, and hope that Dante was right about 'following orders' or whatever."

You towards the destroyed door, and to the outside. It looks calm but you know this betrays the reality of the situation.

That giant monster that got Chris, and maybe Dante is still out there. Not to mention, you don't know how many of those regular aliens are still out there...

If any intervene when we're fighting the big one or looking for weapons it'll be the worst case. While I don't want to make assumptions as long as we keep alert and stay away from the waterline the big fella can be somewhat put on the back burner. That leaves weapons or enemies. If those weapons are worth going for depends on where the crocs are though. At least that's my reasoning. I could be very fatally though, so feel free to disagree ahaha. The other thing is Dante, will he show up on the scanner?

"What do you have on that thing Paula," you ask, looking over her shoulder at the scanner.

"Still that big one near the Concert Hall," she looks out to the wooden pier and the large floating concert venues, "It's still gotta be underwater, but there's a lot of smaller dots forming around it."

Going near the water now is suicidal with that big monster around, yet...it just occurred to you that Gantz specified two different types of alien, yet you've only really seen one that looks like the description...

"Carol," you ask, and she turns briskly to you, clutching a bloodied pistol to her chest, "besides that big monster and the crocodile aliens, what other things did the group run into?"

"I-I...there were these newt looking things that crawled out of the water," she speaks in slight fear, "they spit up something that reeked so awful, it almost knocked John out."

"They also have long tongues," she continues, clutching part of her wrist, "They try to pull you into the water in unison, since they are so slow on land."

As she finishes, there's a strange cacophony, like static or microphone feedback on all of the speakers around the pier. You hear a massive splash in the water, and see a great, smooth tail dissapear beneath the waves.

"They're moving!", Paula mentions, "they're going to the farthest pier...it's like, something is drawing them there."

As the feedback continues on the on the pier's PA system, you start to hear a hissing from beneath the water, yet it keeps getting more silent as the dots move further away.

"It's the water...", Paula speaks up, moving towards the door, "it amplifies the sounds going over it, and since those things are right at the surfa-"

She doesn't finish her sentence before the water to farthest end of the pier erupts in a shower of water and flabby, alien flesh. The big alien is almost the size of a moving truck, and just as long as it moves itself to silence the largest of the speakers at the far end of the pier.

"Holy shit," the words leave your mouth, as well as part of your breath, "...Hrrmph."

You slap yourself out of the stupor and head out to the pier. You hear two sets of footsteps follow close behind.

"What do you think you're doing?" Paula pleads, worry hanging on her words, "You don't really we're gonna kill that thing, right?"

"There's gotta be a way," You reply, "and I think that's the key. If a sound that extensive can get it annoyed, the maybe there's something in the dock that can actually hurt it bad."

You're not out of the main street before an idea dawns on you.
"Concert Hall," you look to the large building overlooking the smaller, floating venues, "Anthem, it has to have the loudest sound system in this pier, and if we can get it transmitted to the venues while that thing is taking out the PAs..."

>Trap it, amplify the noise and draw it to the pier and get it trapped in the venues.

"But, how the hell are we gonna get it transmitted to the venues," Paula retorts, "I don't know how to work sound equipment, and I don't think you do either."

It just occurred to you that perhaps you should have thought this plan out better. Even if you did get the sound transmitted, how would you amplify it enough to set it up as an ambush.

"I'll do it," both of your heads turn to Carol, as she says, "I do sound design for my school's drama and music classes, it shouldn't be much different in this place."

"Besides...", she continues with a look of resolve, "I owe you both for saving my life."

As that salamander alien continues its rampage across the pier, the sound on the PA is growing ever weaker. It shouldn't have been more than twelve minutes ago that Carol started hooking up the sound system, and you and Paula started getting the venues turned up for possibly their last show.

"Remember the plan," you mention, as you flip the switches on the largest speakers in the pier, "start out medium, and then give Carol the signal to boost the audio to as loud as it can when that thing comes here."

"Right," Paula says, moving her hair to the side, "I'll cover you from this end, and make sure you can get your shot to get it's head stuck on the frame."

"Yeah, precisely," you motion closer, "and again, try to not get eaten, most important part."

She punches your shoulder in jest. You rub the spot with a chuckle as you finish turning on the system, and with a loud *whirr* this thing is ready to start blasting.
The alien will be here in a few moments if it continues to take down more of those PA's. The tension is almost getting to you...

>Steel your nerves, there's no way you're dying here, not when you're so close

+1 INT
+1 Trust [Carol Adams]

"Carol," you grab one of the venue's walkies, figured they'd be useful in giving out orders, "I'm sorry that left you, and I hope that you can forgive me for that."

You hear a noise of sullen aggreement in the walkie, but you continue.

"But now, we need all of our heads in the game," you speak slightly louder, "We've already died, and got given a second chance. And we're not about to waste it now being terrified, right?"

"You're wrong," Carol replies, "I am scared but...I am not running anymore. If I get hurt, or I die, I'll do it on my own two feet."

"Because, I know you're scared too Mr. Vanders, and you're still here. I can't thank you enough for saving me, but now, let me save you both."

As Carol finishes her words you start seeing a small swarm of gray, little salamander aliens crawling your way from the large one's back. They're slow but they're close enough to your end of the pier that they'll be here in a few seconds. A guttural belch from the large one lets you know something's up...

>Leave your position, and engage the smaller ones
>Start up the sound, if the big one is annoyed by it, then it should do something worse to the smaller ones, right?
>Observe and relocate, head to one of the closer venues and see what's up with the big one.
>>

>Also, have we not triggered the teleportation beam of the Y gun yet?

No we haven't. Besides it's hard to know you need to shoot again to make something to be teleported. For now it looks like some kind of catch rope.

So only when we go out and train with the gun we will know what it actually do.

"Carol, stay put," You speak into the walkie, "something's up with the big one and the small ones are getting moving to our location."

You an 'Ok' from her end, and move to the closest venue possible. Both you and Paula make sure to stay hidden from the smaller ones as you approach the start of the pier.

Hiding behind some of the speakers, you see small aliens disperse to surround the big alien as they finally approach your end of the pier. Its movement has become so sluggish since you last saw it, and it is making some strange noises as it gets closer.

As it reaches the entrance to Anthem however, a horrifying and disgusting noise is made from the creature's mouth, and vomits an even more revolting, solid and liquid substance into the pavement and wood.

"H-haha!" You hear a disturbingly familiar voice coming from the sludge, "HAHA! BITCH! I did! I BEAT YOU! CAN'T EAT THIS SHIT! YOU HEAR ME!"

It's Chris, he's alive but his suit and parts of his body are...torn apart. He's bloody and portions of his skin are falling apart from what you can only assume is stomach acid and bile.

"No way," You whisper out, "Carol, stand by we may need sound in a few seconds."

The smaller aliens begin to surround Chris, and he continues his tirade of insults at the large alien. The sight is so revolting in so many ways, you're having a hard time standing straight. Before you can dwell more on it, the large alien opens its jaw and rows of needle sharp teeth are revealed to you all.

>Shoot, close that bastard's mouth shut with your gun.

"Paula," you whisper, still looking at the aliens, "as soon as that thing hits Chris, run up to the roof, and start killing those things."

"Wait," she looks at you, with a shocked look, "You're just gonna leave him...to die?"

It's dawned on you that you're letting someone die, no, using someone's life for your own ends. Someone horrible, someone disgusting, that has done some awful things to Carol and probably everyone on the team.

"Yeah," you answer back, "he's already dead, we'd only be risking ourselves even more..."

She stares back at you and then back to the large alien that lets out a guttural roar at Chris, which he only replies back with a cross grin and a middle finger. She nods and waits your command.

It only take a second or so more before the large alien's mouth engulfs Chris's upper body, and it violently shakes him, slices him and splatters what's left onto the doors of the Anthem theater. Paula is on the roof in seconds and starts blasting away at the smaller aliens, that have still not noticed either of you as their leader brutalizes Chris.

Once it's done however, about 2 of them are left along with the big one. It's about this time that it also notices Paula, and moves to open it's mouth in kind.

The big advantage of the Y-Gun is that it allows you to eliminate threats that you aren't capable of killing but requires more skill to use. Also, takes more time.

Incidentally, aren't the swords and monowheel in a side room?

It takes less than a second for its long tongue to head towards Paula. It also takes less than a second for your finger to press the trigger.

Paula shouts in horror as the alien's long, sticky tongue wraps around her frame and begins to pull her quickly towards his gaping mouth. Your pistol's long wires however, wrap themselves around the alien's jaw and embed themselves onto the concrete with such force that almost completely severs its tongue.

Then it is the alien's turn to start shouting in horror, or it would be if it could open it's mouth effectively, so it begins thrashing in agony.

In spite of your save, Paula is thrown viciously off the pier and her body splashes into the water along with the alien's tongue. You also begin to see the smaller aliens begin to tug and pull at the wire pods, trying to free their leader.

It's been a long time since you've taken a swim, but that's not gonna stop you from saving the woman that's been keeping you alive so far. With a running start, you lunge into the water after Paula.

You saw her splash not five meters away from the venue you two were in, so you head in that direction. You expect the water to be cold at this time of night, but it doesn't feel any different than when you were on land. Is the suit doing that?

You don't contemplate too much on it as you locate the tongue, and Paula clinging to it in exhaustion. There's a nasty gash on her arm, probably clipped part of the stage when she got thrown.

"I checked the scanner," speaks up in gasps, "I got a reading from the south end, from the crab shacks, there's two of them coming here..."

"Didn't we get them all...", as you realize that you only killed the 3 on land.

"We got to finish these guys off," you look at the massive slab of mean you're both holding onto, "and I think we just got the perfect bait."

You give your shoulder to Paula, and you swim to the shoreline. In spite of her pain, and getting thrown around, Paula managed to hold onto her gun.

'Guess she learned her lesson,' you think, as Paula's scanner detects the remaining aliens heading for the tongue. They're more of those crocodiles, and it seems that they're fast bastards in whatever environment they're in.

Paula's aim is sluggish given her injury, but she manages to take out one of them before the other realizes the hostility and starts gunning for you both.

+1 Y-Gun (Novice)

You've gotten used to firing this thing now, but there's a lot of things that are still unknown to you about it. That being said, there's something you'd expect to happen as well something unexpected that occurs in the next 5 seconds.

From the release of the pods, you notice that without any floor to cling to, the anchors attach to the closest surface available. This time, being the the pier you're both standing on.

You both move out of the way of the alien jumping and then subsequently being pulled out of the water by the anchors. The force of the dodge causes you to depress the two buttons again on the gun. You immediately surmise that this may cause the net to be loosened.

Instead, what happens next drops your jaw. A laser, similar in color and size to the one the black ball used, begins deconstructing the struggling alien before your very eyes, slab by slab, until only the net and anchors remain.

Before you can congratulate yourself on the discovery, you hear a loud, resounding *RAARCK* as two chunks of concrete are tossed straight into the water, along with the wire, and the now squished bodies of the smaller salamander aliens.

"Damnit," Paula mutters, her breathing is getting heavier, "it's free..."

You run, faster, and stronger than you've done before. There's a speed, and power in your step that you've never actually seen before in your life as you speed across the venue towards the speaker, with the massive alien close behind.

Then, you notice it. Your suit is expanding, like an external musculature are your body moves with such ease beyond the alien's possible range of attack.

'W-what...' you wonder, as you skid towards the speaker and the walkie, 'what the hell kind of suit is this...'

The sharp turn is actually too much for the alien, and it topples over itself as a result crashing into the podium. It is scrambling to get out of there. You pick up the walkie, and give Carol the signal.

"BLAST IT!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NBHS3FtQ20

The music is transmitted across the three venues, each one at different volumes as per the plan. And while the song starts out slow, and only mildly agitates the alien, the sudden shift in turn and lyrical ballad, cause it to shriek in anguish. It is visibly shaking, but it is going after the first venue.

>Carol, turn it up louder!
>Shoot it, take out its tail, maybe it will slow it down.
>Go after it, if this suit can make you run like that, what else can it do?

Rolled 12 + 5 (1d20 + 5)

The sound of electricity crackling, smashed acoustics, and bending metal fill the air along with yet another Foo Fighters song. The alien is tearing apart the venue.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUqBN84Y9O4

This is all the time you need however, as the alien is so transfixed on ending that horrible noise that it barely registers the laser wires pinning it's tail to the ground. It does however notice the sky laser tearing its tail appart, slab by slab, from its body. It struggles with all of its might, but without its two little helpers it can't escape with its tail.

By the time it is over, the alien is bleeding profusely from the stump where its tail once was and still howling in pain at the horrible noise around it. It gathers enough of itself, before it rolls over, and recognizes your scent beyond all of the noise and pain.

Whatever kind of state this thing is in, it must be in so much pain it must be ignoring the noise. Or its eardrums may have burst and cant hear anything anymore. It doesn't really matter much as it is gunning for you, mouth open and pure rage in its breath.

>Stand your ground, and punch this fucker into the concrete, the suit can do it, maybe.

Rolled 17 + 3 (1d20 + 3)

You let loose the trigger for what you hope will be the last time you'll have to use this thing.

The thing is coming at you so fast though that even with it getting wrapped up, it may still get you before they deploy on the ground.

Sure enough, this is true. The net flies, yet the anchors don't deploy fast enough to stop the alien in time before it reaches you. Or it would have, had one of its legs not been blown off under it.

The alien looses its footing, and skids into the pier's watchtower, cracking part of its wooden frame. It is stuck to the pavement, howling in pain, unable to get up, and slowly losing blood.

"Finish it off!" a familiar voice speaks from afar, "Press the buttons again, it'll teleport it away."

You glance back to see Dante with that long rifle looking gun from the room. His leg is broken, and a piece of bone is jutting out. How he's able to stand is a miracle, but you nod in understanding and press the buttons again.

The alien's head, like its tail, is teleported away, still struggling and groaning before only its bloodied body remains.

You let out a sigh of relief. It's over...

You go to his side, and get his arm over your shoulder, allowing him to relieve the pressure from his bum leg.

"Christ man," you start, looking at his leg, "I thought you had gotten shot."

"What," he looks at you with a pained, joking tone, "You saying that cause I'm black?"

You kind of chuckle uncomfortably, before he burst out in laughter. It stops halfway as the pain in his leg prevents him from really stretching out too much.

"Here's a question," you stare forward, asking him, "What about your leg, are you gonna be alright?"

"Don't worry too much," he replies, "when we get teleported back, we'll be in the state that we were brought into the game."

You breathe a sigh of relief, as it seems that Paula may just make it even with the bloodloss. As you carry him to the concert stands to rest, there's a small feeling of fear that's looming over you.

"So," you begin to ask, "What now...? They're all dead right...?"

"Yeah," he points to his scanner, "Nothing's showing up. It takes a little bit for Gantz to register the kill, before it teleports us back."

"Gantz?", you retort, "That thing had a name, why do they call it that?"

"I don't really know," he speaks, slightly pained to do so, "the guys we used to run with called it that, and I guess the name just stuck."

You hear a familiar voice call out from the Anthem theater entrance, as the Foo Fighters music finally dies down.

"Erick! Dante!," she waves at you both, "You're alive!"

Dante goes to wave her back, but his head becomes engulfed in a ray of light, and the teleportation process starts.

You motion Carol to follow you, as you head to the bottom pier.

Paula is there, but her breathing is very slow, and very heavy now. Her tan, brown skin has become very pale and slattern.

"Paula!", you go to her side, "please hang in there. It's only a little bit more, please!"

"H-hey...", she turns her head to you both, and sees Carol's eyes tearing up, "D-don't cry Carol, we're gonna b-be just...fine..."

She turns her head to you, "I-I knew it...you, wouldn't let me down...hero."

As her smile is cast along her face, a beam of light falls from the sky and begins teleporting her away.

You breathe a sigh of relief, and Carol wipes away her eyes. You look at each other, and Carols goes to hug you.

This last a little more than 5 seconds before she's also teleported away. Not 5 seconds later, you're standing alone on the DC Pier. There's been so much death, so much destruction, and so much horror in just one night to last you a lifetime.

You give the blood soaked concrete one last look, as you are also teleported back.

As your padded boots feel the wood of the apartment floor again, you look around it to see Dante was right again. Paula's arm is alright, and so is Dante's leg. Paula and Carol almost knock you over in a massive hug, but Dante is keeping his distance.

He's looking at you with wary eyes, like he's expecting something from you. As the two others stop hugging you, Dante finally speaks up with quite a bit of worry in his voice.

"What happened to Chris?"

He clocks you in the jaw before you can finish. There's a streak of blood coming from you mouth, but he's got you on the floor.

Paula is immediately on him, and tries to push him to the ground. With the strength of his suit though, he just flexes are away.

"You used him as fucking bait?!" he slowly getting closer to you, "What the fuck is wrong you?!"

Carol places herself between you and him. She's sweating slightly, but she's not moving an inch. He actually stops at this, and you manage to get up in the panic.

"I-I didn't know the ball would bring us back alive like this," you speak out, "You should have seen his injuries, there was no way of bringing him back even we had tried to save him!"

"That man," Dante's gaze could bore holes through your skull as he speaks, "No, that child was a piece of shit through and through, but he was my responsibility. He was-"

Dante doesn't finish his sentence before a whirr starts from Gantz. It's screen flashes a strange timer.

<00:03:00>

And then a few messages, along with symbols and strange names around it.

Dante's face slacks after Gantz delivers his score. There's still agitation, but he's not out for blood like he was. He's turning away from you, and everyone else, and heading for the door.

"Why," you speak up, and Dante stops, "you said it yourself, he was a psychopath. Why go through all of that trouble, why get so angry about him? He threw you off the pier and shot you for god's sakes!?"

Dante slowly turns around, his expression is stone-like and turns his head back to you.

"Why?", he replies, "Because was my step brother. His dad, big senator Arnold Bowery , owns my fucking life, and he entrusted me with the care of his psycho son for the hospitality they've given me. For taking me from street and into 'civilization'. "

You don't gasp at the revelation, but there's a looming air of discomfort filling the room.

"Without him," he looks to you, "I may as well be dead again."

"He had that much pull on your life?," Paula chimes in, "Dante...we never would have imagined."

"Yeah?", he looks back to you, "Well I never would have imagined being stuck in this sort of shit. At least though, I got a goal for being in this dumbass game: I'm gonna bring him back."

"Wait," you start, "What are you talking about?"

He lets out a small laugh before saying, "Fuck it, you get one question, because I am in just a SLIGHTLY less shitty mood. But make it count, cause I am out of those doors right afterwards."

"What do you mean, 'bring him back'?"

Dante moves closer to you, and the past you to the Gantz ball. He touches the screen, and the ball opens up.

He places his hands inside of it, like he's reaching for something in there. You go to look, and see the strangest site of naked child, probably no older than 10 years old inside of the ball, hooked up and breathing through all of the wiring.

Dante's hands reach the child's ears, and he sticks his pinky inside of the canal. Instantly, the screen lights up, and shows several hundred portraits on it. Too dumbfounded at what you just witnessed, everyone just lets Dante explain without many interruptions.

"This here," he moves his hand across all of the portraits, "are all of the people that Gantz has registered as dead."

His hand moves to the newest portrait. To Chris, and his grinning face.

"Everyone in this list can brought back to life," he continues, "So long as you got 100 points, there's other options for that as well, like getting better weapons, or the one a lot of people take, erasing your memories and getting you out of the game."

Wait, what does it mean that you're out of the game. Doesn't that imply that there's gonna more of this? And better weapons?

Dante moves away from you guys and goes to the hallway to change. Paula and Carol are looking expectantly at you now.

"Wait," you look towards them, "I don't know what to make of this, like it's too much information right now."

They turn their attention to the ball for a moment, and look across the list of names. Dante makes his way out of the hall, before looking at you guys one last time.

"Word of advice," he speaks up, "Get to know your equipment, those suits ain't just for show. And be ready, because Gantz will call us back in 1 to 2 weeks time."

He closes the door behind him, and his footsteps get farther away. I guess that means the door is open now, but you still don't know where you are.

You motion for everyone to get changed starting with Carol. Paula goes over to you, and asks for your cellphone information. You look through your clothes, and present it to her.

"Do you blame yourself?," she asks, as she's jotting down your contact information, "For what happened with Dante? Or Chris?"

"I don't regret it," you utter, slightly deflated, "We did what we had to do to survive, it just me that made that choice for you guys."

She finishes making you contact. She even messages you a 'hi!' to your message box just to make sure.

"There's a lot of cowardly people out there Erick," she look at you straight in the eyes, and gives you a peck on the cheek, "I am glad you're not one of them."

Carol comes out of the hall, and Paula goes in after her.

"So," Carol asks, "it's not over then...?"

You only nod in reply. There's no use sugarcoating what Dante meant. She looks down for a bit, and moves to sit next to you.

"I was bullied a lot," she avoiding your gaze, "I was always talked down to, teased, got lots of shit for being a standout in my class."

"But," she continues, this time looking at you, "I know now that I don't have to take it lying down anymore. Because you and Paula showed me to just fight through it...thank you."

She raises her fist, and you meet in the air.

After Paula finishes up, you go in yourself. You overhear a slight conversation about where Carol lives, as well as an exchange of phones between her and Paula before you make it out yourself.

Before you head out though, something Dante mentioned dawns on you.

"We should take some of this stuff with us," you speak while saying this, "or at least the suits."

"I don't know about this," says Paula, "It's bad enough we get wrapped up in this. I don't know about carrying another loaded weapon..."

Carol however, doesn't waste much time and takes one of the pistols from the rack, along with her suit, folding it in her sweater. You do the same, but the strange looking pistol. Both of your eyes are now on Paula.

"Christ," she blurts out, "fine, but I am not involved in any of this if we get searched."

With the three of you looking more or less decent you all head out to the outside.

"14th on NW," Paula speaks up, looking at the road-signs, "Well, I'll call us a cab, because I don't think my ride will be all that happy with us carrying heavy firearms."

The cab arrives in less than 10 min, though he looks strangely at Paula, but doesn't ask about the cop without a police car after she pays him in advance.

"We survived today mostly because of dumb luck and being able to think on our feet. That might not work next time though. Supposedly we've got a week till this happens again right? I think we need to train, get used to the weapons and the suits and see what they're capable of. And uh, yeah that was my big speech.

You know, Tokyo Gantz was pretty fuckin' incompetent. Most of his teams got wiped out consistently and his only real success was Kurono. Admittedly, Kurono ended up being Humanity's Champion during Armageddon but still.

OOC: Fuck it, I'm tired I'll count these two and wrap it up.

As the cab takes you guys to the first destination, there's a slight twinge of anxiety building in your gut. How much of tonight was up to you guys, and not just fortune?

"We survived today," you start, looking at the road, "mostly because of dumb luck and being able to think on our feet, but hat might not work next time though."

Carol and Paula are looking expectantly at you.

"Supposedly we've got a week till this happens again right?", you continue your speech "I think we need to train, get used to the weapons and the suits and see what they're capable of."

"And uh," you're more or less at a loss on how to finish up," yeah that was my big speech."

They both look at you for a bit, before Carol starts laughing. Though, from the tone of her voice, it doesn't sound malicious.

"Oh, look at you," she's giving you a slight nudge, "Acting all baddass and shit."

"He's right though," Paula says, chuckling a little as well, "if we want to live through another one of those games, we've got to be prepared next time."

Paula turns her head to you, "So, what are you thinking here?"

"Well," you begin to rationalize, "we should see what the parameters on these suits are. When I fought that big alien, I felt so much stronger and faster than I normally was, so who knows what else they can do."

The thought of training is a topic that lingers in your mind for a bit before something else pops into your head.

"So...", you speak up, "What do you guys intend to do now, since we're all like labeled more or less dead?"

"Hadn't really thought of that," Paula speaks up, "I don't really see how much it changes though, I still got to go back to the force tomorrow, I'll...think up an excuse..."

Carol replies with, "I mean...we could dissapear from the grid, but...I think I want to try out living again."

That's something that sticks with you for the rest of the drive home. As the dawn wakes over DC, you wonder that future holds for you all. It will be painful, and horrifying, but...

'What's really changed about life now?'

Alright guys, this is it for tonight. What a fucking doozy this one was.

We will reconvene next week on Friday the 9th, at 2:00 PM EST for some slice of life. It will only last one episode, so don't worry too much.

I would like to point out, that this is just my second quest ever, and I am glad that I took my senpai's advice and lurked on this board until the formula clicked for me.

Check up on my twitter if I have any updates, or changes in the schedule for tomorrow. I will try to run on Fridays and the weekends, but I may shift around if my job permits me.

Anyways, PEACE.

I'll remember to add one after the second hunt, but your post actually reminded that I forgot to explain the <Trust> mechanic in the pastebin.

Adding that right now.
