As the red sun rose over the horizon and strikes the gleaming city of Iti'a'Ropku a sense of peace has finally fallen over the landscape. No longer did the shield domes shimmer overhead, allowing the crystalline accents to the city to glimmer with their own refracted lights as the Chitin Choir began their morning hymns throughout the city

Throughout the night the straggler osjiic invaders within the planets atmosphere had been hunted down and subdued. The hangar warships were brought down to the surface, some more forcefully and violently than the others, where clouds and swarms of Reconstructed crowded around them with captives ferried off inside Coffins or Hearses.

The Osogo herds were informed the danger had passed but as the Reconstructed began to withdraw they were followed, the alpha matrons requesting safe passage during their pilgrimages. Even those herds that had yet to begin their own journeys to the city that whispered in their dreams change course, beginning the long trek to Iti'a'Ropku.

Off-world the Imperial fleets had retreated and disappeared into FTL after the arrival of the fleets from the B'Nan and Drakon systems. The large number of Void powered ships that formed the main bulk of their fleet had kept away from the Ahkam invasion due to their vulnerability and had eagerly thrown themselves into the battles.

After the escape of the Voidship and it's protective forces those left behind in orbit over the moon were quickly overwhelmed and taken. There were attempts to escape of course, some of them succeeding, but there were plenty that were not so lucky as boarding ships ensnared them with harpoons and riddled their hulls with boarding pods.

For the first time in several long, battle-filled days, the Armada seemed to have reached at least a moment of peace. Yet for the undead there was no time for relaxation, the tireless Reconstructed already beginning repairs and clearing away rubble and crashed ships across the shipyards of the moon. In the simple minds of the Reconstructed they did not care that they had to rebuild without pause after the fierce battles, only feeling an excitement as they knew you had returned fully.

It was almost as if the unified subconscious of your collective undead, each united to you and the Deep Rot, was...joyful at knowing the Armada had staved off two powerful invasions in such short time.

Now was the time for rebuilding and preparation for whatever foe raised their weapons against the Necrotic Armada, and you knew you would be ready.

Research Event:
>Psionic Backlash
Another lab and Think Tank dedicated to experimenting with Psionics has suffered an accident where a test involving cloned test subjects has led to another setback but a revelation for future progress but requiring your attention

Finished Research:
>Necrotic Drive:
A project attempting to use Necrotic energy to create an FTL capable engine that has had many unpredictable outcomes and setbacks has finally completed.

>Solar Engine:
Think Tanks believe they have replicated the Sunscale's Solar-based FTL engine

>Elemental Disruption Experiments:
An extremely dangerous experiment into testing the interactions of elemental and quasiphasic energies has led to various disappointments

Current Research:

>Advanced Mental Reading:
Medium - Experiments into remote thought scanning technology

>Orbital Shields:
Slow - With the fragility of orbital superstructures the Think Tanks propose more measures to defend them

>Psionics:
Medium, possibly dangerous - The incident with the Advanced Mental Reading lab has inspired several Think Tanks to begin researching psionics by focusing on telekinesis gained from sources other than Necrotic energy

>Floral Necrotic Experiments:
Unknown, Dangerous - A project proposed by a Think Tank, who worked on the original Necrotic experiments on the living that lead to the Immortals, has grown intrigued with the Armatocere Necrotic initiates and requests their aid in experimenting with Necrotic energies and floral organisms

>Ahkam Matriarch Dissection:
Medium - Think Tanks that long wished to study an Ahkam Matriarch are excited to study the corpse of Quantac'Vrix and already begin discussing Reconstruction

>Matriarchs Armor:
Medium - The heavily fortified and technologically advanced armor that the Matriarch utilized will be studied thoroughly as she is studied as well

>Ahkam Datafiles:
Medium - Decrypting and studying the vast amount of files stored upon the warships of the Ahkam will take some time but are sure to have a wealth of knowledge concerning the Dynasties

>Fractoid Remains:
Slow - The dust like remains of the strange robotic appearing entities within the Throne system superficially resembles simple sand or quartz dust and resists initial tests to study its composition

>Gas Giant Filter Farms
Medium - Inspired by how the Zaeen are able to consume and metabolize the gases of Gas Giants the Think Tanks hope to adapt it as a method to produce biomass in addition to collecting starship fuel
>>
>>2302608
>Gravetics
Medium - Inspired by the Armatoceres developments into gravity manipulating technology the Think Tanks have begun looking at base theories concerning their Interdiction Field technology and studying gravity manipulating materials including exotic matter and Void energies.

>Mass Shielding
Slow - A splinter research thread of the Orbital Shielding into experimenting with new theories in shield technology

>Calcified Void Fragment
Medium - Research into examining and deducing the properties of the Void amplifying piece of bone taken from a Deathshead Guardian

Ongoing and Joint projects:

>Elemental Experiments:
Ongoing, possibly Dangerous - A long-standing research goal of the Think Tanks into the various elemental energies

>Blackscale Cloning projects:
Ongoing, possibly Dangerous - Efforts to create loyal clones of the Sunscale and Blackscale. With the addition of Armada Necromancers this project has gained a boost

>Anti-Wraith Technology:
Ongoing - A joint project between the Armada and Armatocere to develop defenses against the Sun-Eater Wraiths

>Sub-Space Experiments:
Ongoing, Dangerous - Risky experimentation in the nature of Sub-Space and dimensional energies

>Reconstructed intelligence:
Unknown - Less of an experiment and more of a study and observation into investigating the cause and effects of the development of intelligence and personality within Reconstructed

>Dream Study:
Unknown - Due to the regularity that Necromancers appear to have of prophetic dreams the Think Tanks have begun studying the nature of these visions by examining the dreamscapes of the living citizens in the Armada

>Arc Anomalies:
Medium, Potentially Dangerous - A joint study by the Think Tanks and Mind-Vines to examine and assess the various anomalies left in the aftermath of the Arc Surge and Ahkam Invasion within the Bastion system.

Unlocked:
>Necrotic Drive: By saturating the area of space around the hull of a ship with intense Necrotic energies the engine "decays" space-time around it, allowing the starship to travel at FTL speeds within this bubble of space-time that forces reality to bend around it. Ships emerging from FTL produce surprisingly little visual light that is easily mistaken for distant novas but do give off a Necrotic signature, making it one of the more stealth oriented FTL engines. Materials not protected against Necrotic energies will decay faster than usual but Reconstructed and other Necrotic powered starships do not suffer this drawback.

>Solar Engine: Functionally similar to the Warp Drive the Solar powered engines generate a sphere of flame superficially resembling a sun just large enough for the ship to pass through before fading and reappearing as a similar sphere manifests in their exit destination. This allows the ship to travel along the Solar winds and currents that each star gives off and distorts. To observers within the ship it would appear as if the ship is engulfed in flames during transit. The closer to a star the ship emerges the more accurate they can control their destination.

Research Failure:
>Elemental Disruption
Much to the disappointment of the Deep Rot and the Think Tanks working on the experiments they have been forced to concede when a research path is currently impossible with their level of understanding and technology. While it appears that the Necrotic energies that fuel the Reconstructed and technology can withstand and coexist with the quasiphasic disruption process, attempting to utilize any of the other three known Elemental energies causes the disruption process to fail. Experiments into applying the disruption process to elemental power cores or already infused Reconstructed commonly led to the destruction of both test subject and testing area.

Construction Completed:

>Arc Relays

With the completion of the Arc Relays within the systems of Horizon's Drop, Bastion, and Drakon, the New Necrotic Armada will now be able to near instantaneously transport fleets of ships between them. Now that hostilities have ceased within two of the systems, the spacestations have been brought out from hiding and the Arc Founts and can now be activated by a wielder of the Arc.

Located on the outer edges of their respective systems they orbit near the gas giants in each. The one in Bastion in particular shares the orbit with the moon of the same name, located there to be under the constant protection of the Lavafather and his Obsidianborn children.

This one has already been sparked by Predator Nekris who quickly returns to his position as warden over the imprisoned Ahkam serpents. He has sent the Arc Disciple that had stayed behind with him to the Drakon system to activate the Arc Fount and bring the Relay online.

Predator Eiton, after checking in on the state of the Arc Disciple Orvca after her intense duel with the Deathshead, had departed for the jovian world of Horizon's Drops system and sparked the Relay to life.

>The Armada can now transport fleets of ships rapidly between the three systems, greatly increasing response times to invasions in neighboring systems.

And just like that we're suddenly Undead Hivers, these relays are gonna be OP as fuk but probably have to be the most heavily defended points in the Armada.

Are outsiders able to capture and use these relays or is there something in place to keep them from being used should they be captured?
A self-destruct mechanism maybe?

Might i make a suggestion for a Holiday/celebration

every year Jadyk holds an event called "The trials of the Immortal" [or something similar] Basically we hold events and tests of varying types testing all kinds of abilities to be completed over a week by teams of 2-3 anyone of our allies or citizens can compete.

Winner gets some extreme reward like, being allowed to become an immortal or recieve a custom made weapon or Armour. The whole event is televised while we use the think tanks to study the competitors to learn new tactics and gain potential combat data for later use.
>>
>>2302672
Next step is finding what system the Osjiic are using to jump to horizons drop and take it from them, we may not be able to stop them comming, but we can at least put up and outter wall meaning they have to fight for longer before they can reach our capital.
>>
>>2302672
Seated upon your throne in the Charnel Vault you muse to yourself how the Relays really seemed to personify the Arc, uniting and connecting the systems to make the Armada safer and stronger for it. Your thoughts were interrupted by the Deep Rot who states they are glad you have returned, not for the first time, and begins listing off various items for your attention.

There is the matter of the Imperial forces captured and the process of salvaging useful resources from their downed or claimed ships. Of special note the Deep Rot points out that two of the three captured Deathshead Guardians had seemingly surrendered, potentially throwing a battle they could have won. They had been contained and shackled in the Void Temples prisons built for the Deathshead that had become Gral.

Commander Rethak had sent a message along, stating his happiness to see you whole and well, but also requesting an audience to discuss the Blackscale Cabals plot to break into the Confederate science lab. New intel had come in from the Cabals sources and the basis of a plan was forming.

In the Urdir system rebuilding was well underway on Legion's Home with no sign of Wraith presences. The Necromancers sent to assist the Blackscale Necromancer Guir were already providing great aid in their projects concerning the cloning projects and refining the Sunscale Reconstruction rituals.

There is a brief note from Buddy and the other smuggler that they have arrive in the Myrshyn system and are commencing a search of their freighters provided by the Wraithborn Cartel.

Both Voidknights Lorgul and Jareth request an audience to discuss the Osjiic Empire and other matters relating to the Voidknight Order.

A message from Slrrt states that the Armatocere Warships would remain within the Horizon's Drop and Bastion systems for the time being should either the Empire or Dynasties launch another round of attacks. Included was a statement from Warleader Caecet complimenting the Armada fleets that fought alongside them. The Deep Rot points out the Warleader had already contacted Punisher Muic and the two held a lengthy conversation concerning fleet strategies and tactics.

Necromancer Jor also sends word that he'd like to speak with you along with Red-Leaf-Strains, the human returning to Iti'a'Ropku along with the Ahkam serpents several hours before dawn to have their wounds tended to.

There is much to do and tend to in your New Necrotic Armada. What shall you do first?

Jor had returned to the Necromancers Spire at the heart of the city and quickly fallen asleep in his room and slept peacefully for a few hours before waking not long ago. A hardlight chair supported him as he looked over a datapad in one hand as his reconstructed held a piece of half-eaten fruit when your psionic image was projected into the chamber with him. Glancing up he blinks in surprise and hastily stands, the chair dissolving beneath him, "Oh, Lord Jadyk! Wasn't expecting you so suddenly," he says while setting the fruit and datapad down on a nearby table.

"My apologies, Jor. Next time I'll knock," you say as your image, resembling your newfound Predator form, turns to gaze around the chamber. The room was sparsely decorated, the human not spending much time in it but a few trophies were hung on the wall such as the blade-like limb of Ruscuvs Caretaker, a fitting trade considering the source of Jor's prosthetic limb. The skull of the Immortal responsible for the Refuge crisis hung over the unmade bed, the rest of its form remade into the armored exosuit standing against the wall.

Jor squints in your direction after pulling a shirt over his thin torso that sported fresh bruises and old scars, "Was that a joke?" He just rolls his eyes, "Still strange when you do that," he mutters mostly to himself and holds his arms out to his sides as his armored robes float forward from their stand, splitting open and wrapping around him with practiced telekinetic movements, "Your new form is flattering but what will the other Orders think?"

Clacking your teeth you turn toward him, bladed tail flicking behind you, "You chastise me for humor then utter it with your next breath," you wave a hand dismissively as Jor chuckles, "It seems that utilizing the biomass of the deceased Quantac'Vrix influenced my Reconstruction," you say as you glance down at a clawed hand.

Clasping your hands behind your back you look back to the Necromancer, "What was it you wished to speak with me about?"

"I know you'll be busy dealing with the fallout of this whole mess with the Empire, not to mention the Ahkam invasion," he starts to count off on his fingers, "And the Refuge situation, not to mention the fact the Wraiths are becoming more aggressive, and those Fractoid synthetics, and-"

You sigh and silence him with a raised hand, "I know we have much to tend to, Jor. What is it?" you ask simply and to the point.

Jor nods, "Well three things I can think of right now.

"One, the people of the Armada could really benefit from hearing from you. A lot of them have been scared these past few days, what with the Ahkam attacking and now the osjiic invading after we liberated so many that were once their slaves. It would do good to hear or see you are well and whole. Red-Leaf-Strains would agree with me too, I talked to her not long ago," Jor says.

>cont
>>
>>2303200
"Two, the people of Refuge have been waiting to speak with you as well. So have the Ructu Elder Council. Refuge is a little more involved due to how many of their number have been inquiring about joining the Legion or outright asking to join the Armada fully. From what our Legionnaires on the ground can gather it sounds like there is serious talk about asking the Armada to take full possession of the system.

"I sent you the memory from when I spoke to the Ructu Elders," he starts to say and you cut him off with a nod.

"Yes, the Ructu wish to sail the among the stars. A simple but pure wish. I will find time soon to speak with them," you say, tapping your chin with a claw.

"Excellent. Thirdly, and related to Refuge, is what we should do with the Necromancer," he says as his tone hardens. With a wave of his hand one of the holoprojectors in the room shows footage of the human floating unconscious in a med-pod while heavily under guard, "Martin Graim, former xenobotanist turned genocidal Necromancer thanks to the Immortals and...whomever took them and released into the galaxy," he says with a bitter tone and glance toward the skull of the Immortal.

He looks to your psionic image, "It seems that due to being a Necromancer our symbiots and mental reading capabilities have some...trouble reading or controlling his mind. I figured you would want to speak with him, he's ready to be awakened at any time now."

"You show great restraint not tossing him into a Cauldron already," you say as you look through the sight of one of the Trolls stationed in the chamber at the contained human, "Responsible for the desolation of the Worlunnan colony and the Refuge Crisis, his crimes are significant. What would you recommend, First Necromancer?"

He blinks at the question, not expecting to hear that. Rubbing his chin with his flesh and blood hand he ponders for a few moments then shrugs, "Interrogate him if you wish and then turn him into a new General. Turn the power he killed so many to attain into an asset for the Armada," he looks to you, a cold and firm hatred for the man in his eyes, "He desired to understand the Necrotic so much, it is only fitting he becomes a weapon of it."

>First Necromancer Jor suggests that you make a public announcement and appearance to boost the morale of the Armada's citizens
>He also recommends you consider speaking with the leadership of the Refuge system and the Ructu Elder Council when you find the time

I have to disagree with Joe on this one. That necromancer doesn’t get reconstruction, he doesn’t even get to be rendered down and recicle as biomass. Execution by solar energyeither by us or one of the arbitrators. This is were we make a distinction between the old and new armada.

We should get personal with Jor. Ask him how close he is getting to turning maybe? His heart is going to stop one of these days and he will need to be hailed in as our first lich.
>>
>>2303206
"Thank you for your advice, Jor," he starts to nod but you continue, "And thank you for your service. You have performed beyond my expectations ever since I started giving you responsibilities and these days leading the Armada in my absences have only proved your worth. I am glad I decided to heal you those months ago in the mine when Rethak nearly killed you."

Jor looks stunned at your words for a few moments then blinks the shock away, saluting with a fist against his heart and bowing, "You honor me, Lord Jadyk. I only do what must be done to ensure the safety of the Armada."

"Take some time for yourself, Jor. I understand humans and the living need time to rest and relax after times of intensity. The future is full of strife but take the moments of peace you can," you say.

He squints again, unsure he had heard you right, "Are you...telling me to take vacation?"

You shrug, "If that's what you wish to call it. I doubt we will know this peace long enough to take an extended trip, what with the Wraiths and all," you say with a noncommittal wave of a hand.

Jor is silent for a few moments then nods, "I might take you up on that, Lord Jadyk," he gives a chuckle, "I have been thinking I should visit and see some of the other worlds in the Armada. Might take a trip throughout the territory, visit Rukor again, see Bastion in person, and even visit the Drakon system. Tenebrous looked quite beautiful," he says, his mind already drifting from his anger with the rogue Necromancer as he begins planning a potential trip throughout the Armada.

"It sounds like a good plan. The First Necromancer of the Armada should be familiar with it's holdings after all," you give a bow of your head, "Again, thank you Jor. If I need to speak with you again, I'll knock first."

Jor just shakes his head with a laugh as your image disappears from sight. Desolation lifts up from its stand and drifts into his grasp, the Necromancer exiting the chamber on his way to speak with the other Necromancers of the Armada.
>>
>>2303352
Pretty sure that requires a ritual. He should be fine, as long as mutations are kept in check. He should stay human for as long as possible. A living representative is extremely useful.
>>
>>2303363
i find it funny how human jadyk acts now that he is more or less a conduit of ark energy
>>
>>2303352
>>2303364
From you previous experiences from the Grand Necrotic Armada and other Necromancers of the Wormstar the life span of a Necromancer can stretch on almost indefinitely as long as they are constant in draining the life essence of living beings to keep their Necrotic corruption "fed".

While their lives are extended it does lead to progressively more severe mutations but with Jor the Think Tanks and yourself have been carefully keeping track of his development and that of the other Necromancers such as Red-Leaf-Strains and the stonestar Klikli.

Due to the Armada's reliance on crystal energy draining and storage tech, the Necromancers have been able to keep their mutations from progressing at a much slower pace than their levels of Necrotic manipulation would allow.

Jadyk himself realizes the importance of keeping Jor alive and at least mostly human looking since he is the face of the living Armada's population.
>>
>>2303393
This slowing of mutations also extends to the other elemental wields such as the Solar Arbiters, Arcdancers, and Voidsingers.

Osjiic Voidsingers that were granted their Void flame from the Armada, when compared to Voidsingers from the Empire, show a much slower rate of mutation and corruption in their physical and mental states
>>
>>2303382
One thing I theorize about Jadyk is thus:
When he was first released, he rememberd very little, being barely able to remember who he was. As he rememberd , he acted upon those memories and felt the appropriate emotions
But he was mostly going thru the motions. Having been imprisoned for so long, he is disconected from the memories, thus causing him to be more mentally welcoming to new ideas.
This would make it easier for him to use the living, sparing them and even caring for them, as he used methodes that he perceived to be the most efficiant, his emotions would then work in tendem with those actions.
He has not entirally left his formative years behind, for they will be with him always. But, these new events and actions have reshaped his personality t o a great degree. We are willing to do horrible things, though we feel bad for it and try to make the most of it. We even feel anger when others to harmful things.
Above all and before all of our titles, we are the Conquring Worm:the squirming grub of limitless ambition, of growing vision.

The Voidknights Lorgul and Jareth were conversing with each other through holograms, discussing the aftermath of the Imperial attack and the implications of the Deathsheads words when a third form materializes before them. They pause and turn to bow with a fist against their armor in salute.

"Lord Jadyk, good to see you," Jareth says from the Void Temple, his body remade with the bodies of several slain osjiic after his violent crash.

"Welcome, Lord Jadyk," Lorgul says then laughs, "I hope that isn't your new permanent form. No offense to the Predators but that doesn't look very suitable for someone like you."

Your claws clacked along the armrest of your throne as you looked to the holograms across the table from you, "It serves its purpose for the moment," you say with only a hint of humor at how Jor seemed to nearly predict the Voidknights comment. Linking your fingers together you lean forward on your elbows and rest your chin across your fingers, "So what was it you wished to speak to me about?"

"Well obviously this attack by the Empire," Lorgul says and waves a hand, a star map of the sector displayed before you three, "They broke the very same cease-fire they called for and retreated dishonorably after nearly defiling our holy Temple. There must be retribution."

"Undoubtedly, brother, but it seems clear to me that the Deathshead did not wish to break it if I understood my conversation with 13 Ascendant Blade correctly," Jareth says, "We now know they gathered their forces here, in the T'Kalo system," he points to a trinary star near the Cerberi system, "From intel gained through NID extraction and symbiot implanting that after the loss of the B'Nan system it has become the center of Osjiic Empire presence in this sector."

"We've already sent an Eyegore scout," Lorgul says, "Once it sends us intel we can plan our assault. Until then..." He trails off as the holomap is replaced with images of the Void Disciples that had stood against the Imperial attacks, "We wish to ask your permission."

The image of the Disciple who stood alone at the Temple gates against the Deathshead with the calcified Void fragment is highlighted and expands as Jareth speaks, "While all the Disciples proved themselves, it was this one in particular that has gained our attention. They are our youngest Disciple and despite this we believe they would qualify for ascension into become the third Voidknight of our Order."

"However, this may be a problem," Lorgul interjects and the image changes to show the Void Disciple communicating with Commander Rethak.

You look at it curiously and begin searching for relevant memories but Lorgul speaks again, "Just as the Arc Disciple remembered their life as an Arcdancer and Legionnaire, this Orvca, so too has this Disciple remembered their life as a Voidsinger in the Legion."

>cont
>>
>>2303597
Looking sharply to the Voidknights they give nods of affirmation and the audio of the conversation with Rethak is played.

"Forgive my intrusion, Commander Rethak," the Disciple says, their own form freshly Reconstructed after the battle.

Rethak waves a hand dismissively, "Nothing to forgive, Disciple. Always happy to help the Void Order. What do you require?"

The Disciple shakes their head, "I require nothing right now. I only wished to thank you, Commander."

"You're welcome? Forgive me, but why are you thanking me?" Rethak asks in confusion.

"To thank you for showing me that there is another path than that what the Empire set for us both. It was through your guidance I learned to let go of the dogma of the Empire and embrace the Legion, the Armada," they bow their head low, helm removed to show their bare skull.

"You've remembered your life haven't you? Wait, I do know you, you were with me on Spindles moon and fought alongside me and the First Necromancer. You're the one that volunteered to become a Disciple with Orvca, aren't you?" Rethak asks incredulously, and you realize that sure enough you had another message from Rethak waiting for you with an urgent marker.

The Disciple could only nod before the audio was cut once more and Lorgul gives a gruff grunt, "See what we mean? Another Disciple, this time of our Order, somehow remembering their life."

"Does this not have grave implications for the rest of us Generals?" Jareth asks, "I am proud to be what I am, to serve the Armada as a Voidknight even if my memories were to return somehow, but can we say any of our other Disciples or brethren Generals will hold true?"

>The Voidknights have alerted you to the fact that the Void Disciple who faced the Deathshead Guardian at the gates of the Void Temple has remembered their life as a Voidsinger in both the Empire and Legion.
>They are the same Voidsinger who volunteered alongside the Arcdancer Orvca to enter Disciplehood of their respective Orders after nearly being slain during the Refuge crisis
>Both Voidknights suggest that this Disciple is a prime candidate for full ascension into a Voidknight if not for this potentially dangerous development

What should you do?

Hold on Ascension until we have a better idea of what caused this remembrence. i do nt initially doubt his loyalty, but it may have other effects. If the pre-reconstructed memories may resurface/return, what else may happen to their minds. Keep them on active duty, but keep an eye on them. An important part of reconstruction is fully leaving their old life behind, whether to use the enemy themselves or for loyal forces to fully give of themselves.
>>
>>2303602
>Speculate on this revelation, perhaps it is related to a growth in their ablities to their respective powers. Perhaps when someone in possesion of a power gains a certain amount of strength it causes the forgotten memories to come back through their connection of said element.

You are silent for a few moments in thought before you let out a small sigh, "This is quite a conundrum isn't it. However, I believe we have little to fear from either of these Disciples. In life they were loyal to the Legion and in undeath they have continued to prove their loyalty. The Arc Disciple in particular faced a Deathshead despite the face she remembered a time in her life that they were of the highest authority.

"I believe we can trust them both, for now. I agree with you both that this Disciple has proven themself worthy of becoming a Voidknight but I will ponder on this for now," you sit back in your throne as the Voidknights bow their heads, "Regardless of who they were before, they are now of the Armada and Reconstructed."

Both salute before Lorgul speaks, "I too believe they will be loyal. Reconstruction into a Voidknight should only reinforce their faith in the Armada and you."

"We will contact you should we learn anything from the Deathshead or the captured officers. We're still sorting through the captives," Jareth says.

>You have agreed that the Disciple has earned their right to become a Voidknight but are delaying it as you ponder the reasons behind the return of their memories

Special:
>1 Calcified Void Fragment (already being researched on the scorched world)
>Juggernaut Commander Mechs

Of special note are the memories taken from a slain engineer on board one of the captured battleships. This engineer, before being assigned to working on the battleship, was assigned to a project designing Solar based technology. While they did not come in contact with any Solar power sources or already assembled Solar tech they were privy to data concerning captured Sunscale and UON tech.

While their work was simple and primitive to your current levels of tech it shows that the Empire has been experimenting with other elemental energies beyond the Void.

Is this one of those things people just shrug at because intergalactic wars have absurd death counts? 12-20 are a lot, and considering that they are neutral noncombatants and an undeveloped race it's bad.

If we hold a trial for the POWs these Osogo families shall have jury duty.
>>
I wonder how the wayward disciple is doing?
>>
>>2304087
Truly a tragedy. It was bad enough that some of the elderly weren't surviving the trek to the city. Still, the trek also serves a purpose. It's their transition to a new life. They would not adjust as well if we simply picked them up with ships.

Once all the Osogo that can reasonably reach Iti'a'Ropku have made it, we might end up forming secondary outposts farther out across the continent for more of them to journey to and then be transported.

I have an idea for our counter assault on our enemies. We could attempt to get the remaining Akham worlds in this sector to join us willingly(since we killed there matriarch and have some Akham willingly work for us already) and use their ships(because there is no way the Matriarch brought all of her ships with her) to launch a multi-pronged assault on the Osjic.
>>
>>2307187
>We could attempt to get the remaining Akham worlds in this sector to join us willingly
Oh fuck I forgot we killed the matriarch, once the news hit their worlds there is a chance there's going to be widespread rebellions.
While they start to weaken we can swoop in for easy territory.

Of course this could also be bad because if another dynasty learns of the one here crumbling in power, they might seize the opportunity to try and take their worlds
>>
>>2307187
I think claiming the fallen akham worlds is definitely our next move, that's shit is free territory, but we do kinda owe the Osjic a kick in the dick.
>>

Rescue Refuge by peaceful annexation and take akham system by right of conquest, and then our neighbour's main governments are actually going to spare us a thought, and maybe an Actual fleet.

Once more holograms flicker into being on opposing sides of the table your throne was seated at. The forms of Eiton and Nekris bow their heads toward you in greeting and you return the gesture.

"It is good to see the Arc treating you well, Lord Jadyk," Eiton says from where he was seated in a stealth frigate on his way back from activating the Arc Relay.

"The timing of my return was fortuitous considering the situation," you say with a slight chuckle, your bladed tail draped across your lap due to the stone throne not being made to accommodate the new addition.

"Is this new form of yours a permanent change or while you adjust to the Arc?" Nekris asks curiously, the returned Predator standing in a chamber underneath the surface of the protoplanet turned prison. The esat turned Arc Disciple kept up the vigil over the conquered Ahkam alongside Tlacex while Nekris attended the conversation.

"It fit the moment and I suspect using Quantac'Vrix's corpse during my Reconstruction has something to do with it," you give a dismissive wave of a bladed hand, "How have our Ahkam guests been, behaving I hope?"

Nodding Nekris clacks his mandibles, "For the most part. The Domination Collars have been improved upon from the models that contained Vle'Karak and the other two. A few are consumed by rage and must be subdued semi-regularly, but most are still in shock over the death of the Matriarch. They are unsure of what to do next, although there is one Ahkam in particular that wishes to speak either with you, Necromancer Jor, or Vle'Karak."

A holoscreen flickers, showing the green-scaled Vil'cva, the first of the Ahkam serpents to surrender to Necromancer Jor after the breaking of the invasion. They were coiled into a miserable looking pile, the collar digging into the scales just behind their head.

"From what we've gathered from those under his command, he is considered a weakling among the Ahkam but viewed fondly by his followers for his lack of cruelty toward them. Apparently they detest conflict and was commonly berated by their sisters and the Matriarch for this near-pacifism," Eiton says, "It was from his throneship that the Think Tanks found something of a menagerie of exotic alien-life on board."

Tapping your chin with a claw you give a nod after a moment of thought, "I suppose he would be an ideal first recruit if I can speak with him alongside Vle'Karak."

Eiton gives a nod, "Before you do that, you should probably talk to the Butcher. I believe it was because of his help that the assault on the Void Temple didn't go as well as they hoped."

"Osjiic slaying is a pass-time for the serpents, although from what I saw you are correct, Eiton," Nekris says, one of his hands resting on the hilt of his sword Blight. He turns to you then, "Before that, there is a subject we must address concerning our Disciple Orvca."

Leaning back in the throne you press your clawtips together, "Such as? I hear that she served quite admirably during the attack, even taking on a Deathshead alone and coming out victorious."

"Yes, this is why we must discuss her," Eiton begins, "It was my idea to bring her to Horizon's Drop with me rather than the other Disciple still with Nekris. I wished to see how she would react fighting against the Empire now that her memories of her life came back to her."

"We know she served loyally in the Legion before volunteering to become a Disciple rather than an Immortal, but we had to be sure," Nekris continues, "And now we are certain.

"We propose making Disciple Orvca the third Predator of our Arc Order. She has proven her skill and loyalty during this attack and during the Ahkam invasion. Her cunning and ferocity is befitting of our Order and will bring glory to it and the Armada should you see fit to allow her Reconstruction."

The pair of Predator Generals look to you expectantly, both seeming to have come to this agreement before speaking with you.

He lifts his gaze, all four blazing eyes looking to you in silence until you chuckle and continue, "Was a Zaeen, as impressive as the Behemoth was, worth nearly meeting the True Death? You should not be so reckless with your immortality, but I am overjoyed to have you returned to us."

Nekris gives a nod and a small chuckle of his own, "Eiton already chastised me for using myself as the bait," he shakes his head in wry amusement, "But I am glad to be back, Lord Jadyk, and that I was able to protect you when the need was greatest."

"Your timing was quite fortuitous. I thank you again," you bow your head to him them continue, "Tell me what you remember of your time within the Arc, what you know of these...entities that fled from the rift you cut through the barriers."

Nekris is silent for a few moments in thought as he looks down then back to you, "Physicality and time are...strange when you are trapped in the Arc. I had no form, my soul traveling through it Arc itself, but I was still Nekris, although that too nearly escaped me.

"I think I would have lost myself in the Arc, subsumed and obliterated of my mind and memories until..." he trails off as he draws the soulbound blade Blight from its sheath at his side and looks into the reflection of the blades surface, "It found its way to me, somehow. It became my anchor and with it was I able to remember who I had been and what I must do. With this blade I was able to focus my will to become myself once more. From then it was simply a matter of learning to peer into this reality, taking advantage of the Arc Surges power."

He resheaths the blade after running a palm along its flat blade and looks back to you, "Of the other inhabitants of the Arc, I do not know what they called themselves. Only whatever thoughts or memories I glimpses from my brushes with their minds.

"Some I believe were powerful practitioners of the Arc who became trapped like I did, or were imprisoned there for some punishment. Those minds were the easiest to decipher, many of them driven to madness from their experiences while others seemed focused on whatever thoughts of revenge sustained their minds and souls.

"The other though... I could not tell if they originated on this plane of existence or if they were natives of the Arc itself. Their minds were more alien than any I've encountered, perhaps rivaled only by the madness of the Wraiths but the vastness of strength between us was immense. I felt like an unarmed Talon compared to their might as they pressed at the barriers during the Surge. I can only suspect them to be the cause of it or at least a symptom."

>cont
>>
>>2308837
He falls silent as he looks down in thought but looks to you as you speak, "And you learned nothing from these minds you glimpsed?"

"I did not say that, Lord Jadyk. I learned much from them, about the nature of the Arc and its mysteries. How it's strands reach across the cosmos, uniting everything in an infinitely complex web of causality and power," a hand clutches the side of his head, "I've seen much but my mind is still...fuzzy from the Arc and I'm still sorting through it all."

He looks to you, the Arclight blazing in his eyes near impossible for the holographic projectors to capture and display, "I had no form in the Arc, not even when Blight appeared. I would not doubt that somewhere in that storm you could find my broken and shattered body, but somehow I was able to Reconstruct myself when I cut my way free of the Arc," he says with mild disbelief to what he himself was saying.

"I shall gladly help you understand these mysteries, Nekris. Together with Eiton and the Disciples I am certain we can unlock the meaning behind it all," you say, motioning with a clawed hand as Nekris nods faintly, "But for now, I am glad you have returned and I thank you for all that you have done for me and the Armada. Just think a little next time before you throw yourself off your ship."

Nekris lets out a laugh and nods, "Of course, Lord Jadyk. I will not squander my second chance to serve you and the Armada."

>Nekris recounts that he cannot remember much of his time in the Arc but is happy to be back in reality proper

A shame, hopefully in time with the Deep Rot's help and ours we can unlock these memories.

Far from the sites of battle that wracked the moon only the day prior were a collection of domes left untouched from the conflict. Within these protected areas the artificial atmosphere was humid and warm but more than comfortable for growing the grasses and plants transplanted from Horizon's Drop. Small buzzing creatures flew around in lazy patterns, a few landing and scurrying across the green scales of the large serpent coiled half in and out of the pod.

Vle'Karak's single eye followed the path of one of these small creatures, little more than an inch or two long, lost in thought during the peaceful moment until his sight focuses on the undead that rose up from nearby hatch. Lifting their head they look at the Harbinger that drifted toward him.

Your voice emanates from its jaws, "Greetings, my friend. I hope you are feeling well after your exercise."

The vast serpent clicks a laugh then bows his head in greeting, "It was refreshing to stretch my coils although I am happy it is over. My fangs don't grow back as fast as they used to," he says while prodding at a few empty notches with his tongue where he'd lost the teeth during the battle.

He looks to the Harbinger, tilting his head to the side, "I saw the footage of your new form. It was flattering," he says with a faint hint of amusement, "I can also feel you through the Arc now, even with the Surge finally dead. It must mean that you have successfully taken the Arc and made it your own, just as you did the Solar and Void."

The Harbinger nods, folding its legs under itself, "Indeed. I see the web of the Arc and it is beautiful," the undead puppet chuckles, "I almost regret not taking it sooner."

"Without the Arc Surge, you may not have been able to," Vle'Karak says with a flick of his tail, "Nor been able to retrieve Nekris from it."

"Nekris cut his own path home," you say through the Harbinger but Vle'Karak gives a faint hiss of disagreement.

"He may have sliced his way through the barriers, but you were the beacon, the lifeline that showed him his path to return home," the serpent turns his single eye to the stars above, the dome of energy nearly transparent at his request, "The Arc may connect all things, but it is our bonds we make, our own strands of fate that tie individuals together, such as those between you and your Reconstructed children, that allowed him to break free."

The Harbinger is silent for a bit as you ponder his words before speaking, "And these same strands tie you to the Armada now?"

>cont

>>2308956
It was Vle'Karaks turn to be silent before he turns his gaze back toward the Harbinger and gives a nod, "It would appear so. My bonds with the Dynasties were severed beyond repair with the death of Quantac'Vrix and my betrayal," he is silent for a moment then chuckles in the Ahkams strange clicking laughter, "Good riddance."

>Vle'Karak seems content with his decision to sever ties with the Dynasties and proclaim allegiance to the Armada

Was there anything you wished to speak with him about before speaking with Vil'cva?

Anything he knows about Vil'cva would be helpful
Also, have we successfully reconstructed any akham yet? I seem to recall a scene with a bunch of necromancers each raising their own but I can't remember if that was something else
>>
>>2308979

We have, but they are not at the level of generals, where Vle'Karak is.

I'd say we talk to him about our reconstruction of the Matriarch and offer him a similar process when it's completed. Although obviously on a much smaller scale.
>>
>>2308979
Those were the Wyrm Reconstructed formed from the genetics of the Ahkam (minus the Arc potential). Each "master" Necromancer, under Jors tutelage, has made their own Ur-Wyrm which are stronger than the standard Wyrms

but no, so far in the quest there have been no Reconstructed created from an Ahkam directly

Mention the arkham who surrendered first ask for any info on him

Also ask after his health if he has anything he feels he requires and finally praise him on his willingness to work with your disciple Jor. "For someone who was once a sniveling miner who cowered before our mere presence he has grown much and proven to be a worthy asset, perhaps you may wish to join him on his, holiday to tour the Armada worlds"

Perhaps also enquire about the other two faithful serpents if they are adjusting well

And finally does he know anything about these arc entities

Seconding.

My guess is that Vil'cva is going to have some decided non-conquest-oriented but very constructive life goals that we could endorse and support.
>>
>>2309042
One thing I worry about is, is this Akhsm kind to his subordinates because he veiws them as worth it or because he views them as pets?
>>
>>2308957
"I would like your opinion on someone before I speak with them," the Harbinger says and Vle'Karak tilts his head curiously.

"One of my kin who surrendered?" he questions.

"Precisely. The first one to surrender, to be exact. A green-scaled serpent that called himself Vil'cva contacted Jor just after his proclamation and surrendered himself and all his servants to "the mercy of the New Necrotic Armada" to avoid the fate of his mother and siblings already slain by our hands," you say through the Harbinger as Vle'Karaks personal demi-Think Tank floats forward to project a holoscreen of the serpents surrender.

Vle'Karak hisses softly as he lowers his head down to rest on a coil of his body, "Vil'cva is a young one. Only a century or two old if I remember right. I've met them only a few times, they preferred to stay aboard their throneship or in the laboratories with the scientists."

"So he is a scholar rather than a conqueror?"

The dark scaled serpent chuckles, "More or less. They worked often with the scientists of the Esat system working on various technologies. I believe he even helped perfect certain technologies that used the Arc, such as the cores that power our ships and the armors of our elite servants.

"By the time he came about I had stopped paying attention to the gossip and intrigue of the Dynasty courts but I've heard his siblings deride him for his enjoyment of personally exploring new worlds," Vle'Karak hisses with derision, "It would have done some of them a benefit to see the Galaxy by exploring it such as he, rather than ruling it from the comfort of their thrones."

He looks to the Harbinger, "That is why I respect you and your Generals, Lord Jadyk. You are willing to put a personal stake in matters of importance. Even your Ambassador is capable in battle."

"I was going to bring that up actually. I appreciate your willingness to work and battle alongside First Necromancer Jor," you say.

"He did surprise me. It is not often I meet a human that capable," Vle'Karak says, the empathic sensors in the demi-Think Tank detecting amusement behind his words but also sincerity as he continues, "His strategies and talents were unorthodox but undeniably potent. I am quite impressed by how easily he seemed to raise the very dead to fight for him. I could sense the osjiics fear even without being able to taste it," he lets out a long hiss.

"For someone who was once a sniveling miner who cowered before our mere presence and attention, he has grown much and proven to be a worthy apprentice," you say through the Harbinger that turns in the air to look through the dome out across the lunar surface, "He has been quite busy for some time now. I know the living, particularly humans, benefit from periods of relaxation. As such he is leaving to travel the Armada's territory and see the worlds that have joined us."

>cont
>>
>>2309124
"If you wish, you may join him," the Harbinger turns back to face the serpent, "It may do the citizens of the Armada well to see you traveling with him."

His tongue flits out a few times as he thinks before tilting his head, "I will think on it, though I feel you may need me in days to come handling your new...guests."

"Hm, you may be correct in that," the Harbinger waves a hand dismissively before speaking again with your voice, "How are Cve'jok and Dne'tec, by the way? I hope they did not suffer any grave injuries in defending my moon."

"They are healthy and recovering. It is a rare day indeed when you can avoid injury combating the Osjiic Empire, but they did not suffer too greatly. I spoke with them after we returned to our dens after the conflict died down and they seemed...content, if even happy with the chance to whet their scales against the Empire," he lets out a chuckle, "I even caught Cve'jok thanking the Wormstar during our conversation.

"I think they are beginning to adjust better now that they were distracted from the invasion and have been allowed to leave their cells more often and even come up to these domes to relax," he says while looking toward the stars once more.

The Harbinger taps its chin for a few moments then speaks, "That raises another topic I wished to discuss. The entities that escaped the Arc through the tear that Nekris carved," Vle'Karak looks to the undead expectantly, "Do you know anything of them? Nekris says his time in the Arc was disorienting and is still recovering from the aftereffects."

The serpent is silent for a time before he speaks in a quiet voice, "I have been pondering their nature myself and I do not like my theory," he pauses then continues at a motion from the Harbinger, "There as an old record I discovered during one of my campaigns against the UON. It was a record of events cataloged through the ages, ranging from the time of the Necrotic War and on.

"I did not pay much attention to it but it did speak of entities, beings they called Daemons, that would manifest under certain circumstances. Among them were events tied to the elemental energies, typically involving sites of great devastation. The reports were vague at best with very little hard evidence.

"I only paid attention to them because they spoke several times of previous Arc Surges. This was after the first time I encountered a Surge and was eager to learn more about them," the serpent sighs as he combs through his memories then continues, "There was something of a classification at the beginning of the record, sort of a guideline, probably for whoever they were compiling the record for.

"Daemons is the term they used to classify a seemingly wide range of extradimensional entities that manage to manifest themselves upon our reality. The record mentioned they seemed to appear where reality grew thin or fractured, such as massive events of elemental energy, including Arc Surges or accidents during dimensional research," Vle'Karak lets out a heavy sigh and shakes his head.

"I wish I had more information for you, Jadyk, but it has been centuries since I read that record and even then I only cared about the details concerning the Arc Surge. I do recall mentions of Necrotic and Void Daemons among others that don't fit the typical elemental profiles but even then the record was old and the files damaged," his tongue flits out then grimaces as he nearly gulped down one of the flying creatures and flicked it away before continuing, "I don't even believe it was of UON origin, the record was likely older than its formation."

"This is indeed interesting. Perhaps it will have to be a subject my Think Tanks and I pursue," the Harbinger says more to yourself than him.

"I do recall that a number of these recorded events mentioned massacres and disasters accompanying these manifestations so I would urge caution, Jadyk," Vle'Karak says, the empathic sensors once again detecting his sincerity.

"Of course, my friend. The similarities to the Wraiths are too great to ignore caution," the Harbinger says.

I always like to harken back to our meeting with the various prisoners who where rioting we brought them onto carnal Vault where they had to look up to us, for those who are already open to surrender and peaceful coexistance this works as it demonstrates our power but also... benevolence, where as with those who we will clearly need to coerce or torture bringing them somewhere nice to do it only means we have to clean up afterwards.

I think either of these work. Enough contact to show genuine interest. We want to give him enough confidence and support for him to earnestly start a trial project where he can prove himself useful. Since he wants to talk he probably has some idea of his own of what role he might fill.

"I am sending for Vil'cva to join us here on the moon. It should help impress the situation upon him even more," you say through the Harbinger and the serpent nods.

"I'll await his arrival then. With these Arc Relays you have constructed, it should not take him long," Vle'Karak says, glancing off in the cosmic distance toward where the Relay orbited the gas giant that fueled much of your fleets. He looks back to the puppet Reconstructed with his crimson eye, "One other thing, while I wait for him, I would like to speak with Nru'jok."

You think back to the serpent mentioned, the blue scaled female captured by Tlacex during the assault on the Tura system, "Has she requested an audience with you as well?"

"No. Not yet anyways," he lets out a low hiss for a few moments before continuing, "I believe if I speak with her I may be able to sway her mind to a more...compliant position concerning her new fate. She was one of the favored daughters of Quantac'Vrix and she was brought low by an undead and forced to surrender for her life. Footage of which was used in a psychological attack against her faction by those that captured her."

The way Vle'Karak spoke with such frankness about the cruelties your Armada had inflicted upon his former kin, without any malice or anger beyond the occasional sense of guilt, always struck you as familiar. It wasn't until this moment you realize he spoke much like many other undead you had known in the old Armada, with a stark truthfulness and refusal to mince words.

"I myself helped train her when she was a soft-scaled youth, soon after my niece reached her title as Matriarch. She should trust me, at least somewhat, still. Even after my defection," he says.

The Harbinger taps its fingers together for a moment before you reply through it, "I trust your insight, Vle'Karak. Having a suicidal or self-destructive prisoner of such high repute does me no good. Perhaps her siblings can assist you, should you find it appropriate," the serpent begins to nod but the Harbinger holds up a finger, "But know there will of course be a heavy guard just beyond the cell walls. Just to be sure she does not get any ideas of escape."

Vle'Karak tips his head, "Of course, my friend. I could feel the vibrations of the Requiems within the walls, their crystals have such distinct resonances," he says with a hint of amusement, "It was honestly somewhat soothing when I slept."

The Harbinger lets out a small laugh as it bows, "Good luck with your conversation with Nru'jok. She would be a valuable asset were she to join as well."

We should find a chance to talk to Deep Rot next thread. Its definately our hidden MVP.

Even without fighting on the frontline like our more traditional Generals, it is probably our greatest creation next to the solar general himself.

Also we should ask it for an update on various small matters, the reconstructed personality survey, the wayward disciple, how it has learned and grown in our absence.

I cant think of a time we addressed Deep Rot personally.

>>2309657
Does it even have a self? I've always just seen it as a subroutine jadyk made to micromanage thee boring stuff
>>
>>2310029

Dude, if the individual Talons and Harbingers can develop personalities and limited self-awareness to go with that, I'm not going to bet against the magical Death-energy computer Hivemind network doing the same at the very least.

Jadyk never worried about this stuff before his return to the world, back in the Old Necrotic Armada he was kind of a major asshole and micro-managed everything to the level of Skynet, to the point of his Talons being more like robots than the beings we know and love right now.
>>
>>2309338
>>No, later
>>
>>2310245
Fair. If talons are parakeets Deep Rot is a parrot.

I'm mostly anxious to hurry up and get to the annexation of Refuge. We'll have a parade! A royal procession! We're even going to let the Armatocere strut around with us! A magnificent speech to rip the pants of every other faction in the world!
>>
>>2309338

Definitely now. He's served us well and deserves the offer
>>
>>2309338
Later. I'd say that he is loyal, but he needs to have a greater impact on the armada. I think that Immortalship should only be given to those with unique and special that minds that deserve to be preserved, or for those that have been pivotal in the Armada. Rethak was our 4th dominated individual(the first three being Jor, Buddy, some other human and a Kesh we threw in the pot) and I can excuse the Immortal squad as a testrun batch that we will practically send on suicide missions to prove themselves fully worthy of it.
Again, I don't doubt Vle'Karak's loyalty, I just think it would be more fitting for him to have an actual position in the Armada and a few notches on his belt, gained in service to the Armada. I'm thinking that he can help outwith the Legion(probably in a different, but close to equal position to Rethak) and can help acclimatize new Akham recruits while we still have few enough.
I've though of having one of each of the major galactic factions in command of parts of the Legion or parts of the Armada in general. Rethak, Vle'Karak and some disgruntled Confed Admiral.
>>
>>2310622
>Send our immortal on suicide mission
Man, they got their Immortal right because they where sent on a suicide mission, to save the whole system of Refuge. They saved billions of people who will probably become citizen of our empire in the very near future, they fully deserve their Immortal status.
>>
>>2310697
One mission. Immortals are meant to be unique, practically a treasure. By suicide missions, I dont mean the expected outcome would be 100% fatalities, but that they will be a slog, probably against enemies we have little information against. Once they have gone thru the crucible a dozen times, then maybe they will have earned it. If a single mission saving many lives was all it took, then within the (in-game) year, most of our legion would probably be deserving of Immortal status and have there names be engraved somewhere special. It takes something special to be worthy of Immortality, not just a lot of notches on your belt and thank-you notes.
>>
>>2309383
Now the most important question. Seeing as Jor is First Necromancer and Regent of the New Necrotic Armada, He cant just take a trip without security. So he would probably need a fairly elite team of Necrolytes along with whatever token contingent of Reconstructed he takes with him. An obvious proven Legion officer would be Rosa. Punisher Agona's territory is Bastion which would definitely be on the itinerary. Rukor is in Bastion and has some amazing beaches.

So the question would be... Beach episode? Purely to get Agona into a bikini and not to push the Jor x Rosa ship.

There is a flash of light and discharge of radiation as the small fleet surrounding the battleship Palanquin exit from FTL at the outer edges of the Teuthan system. Sub-light engines flare as the fleet of Armada ships travels inward toward the world with the twin moons. A holoscreen displayed the world with its deep blue oceans and landmasses, clouds covering portions heavy with storms stirred up by the gravitational forces of the large satellites. The hidden drone of the Eyegore in orbit watches the presence of a handful of sub-capital sized ships ferrying between the surface fortifications and the moon where a construction pylon was busy constructing even more of the ships.

Valresko and Ruscuv stood on the bridge in silence as they looked over the fresh data reports from the fleet already hidden in the orbit of the systems binary ice worlds. Cloaked corvettes and Coffins ran patrols through the system, observing the progress of the budding undead force that had consumed and replaced the Confederate colony that once called the planet Honiv home.

A lone stealth frigate of your own Armada that had been the first to establish contact was kept in orbit away from the hemisphere that the Charred Knight Zekrul had built his fortress. The undead was paranoid, seemingly fearing an orbital bombardment even from the sub-capitals moderate weaponry.

As the fleet approaches closer there is a message funneled through the frigate in orbit to the Palanquin from the planets surface, an audio message of the Envoy's rough voice speaking out in the galactic trade language, "We welcome you, visitors of Lord Jadyk's Armada. You may station your fleet over the third planet and we will send craft to escort your shuttles to Honiv proper to meet with my Lord Zekrul."

Ruscuv clacks her mandibles, the tendrils framing her vast maw twisting with disdain, "They worry we will bombard their world."

"That would not be the ideal outcome," Valresko says while glancing his eyeless gaze over lists of estimated numbers for the cloned undead that could be hiding throughout the planets crusts, "But we will do as we must."

The Lich turns her head toward the Solar Dominator, "So you do not deny that combat may be a possibility?"

Valresko shrugs his shoulders and dismisses the list with a flick of a hand, "Violence is always a possibility. I believe that is why Necromancer Jor selected us both for this task," he turns his smooth featureless face toward the larger lich, "Although, as I said, that would not be the ideal outcome for this meeting."

Ruscuv looks at him for a few moments longer before letting out a bark of laughter and her tendrils flick with amusement, "Not ideal for Zekrul, perhaps," she says and looks back toward the image of Honiv where another survivor of the Grand Necrotic Armada waited to meet them.

On board the Palanquin there is a Harbinger the Cauldron deep within, near its powerful reactor, had created and spat out only minutes prior. Its freshly woven robes were still wet from the liquid biomass that drained from its creation chamber, the mindless undead drifting forward as it waited for your mind to slot into it and take command.

Do you wish to speak with Ruscuv and Valresko before they reach Honiv? The travel at sub-light speed will take a few hours, leaving them to prepare.

Priority should be gaining as much information about the dissolution of the old armada, who still exists and how he survived said dissolution. Hostilities should be avoided when possible but being cautious here is a given, we have no idea how he came to be here or who he bargained with in order to avoid past destruction. He could very well be in league with Akka-Tor and this is all just an elaborate trap, although with how paranoid he is being, perhaps things aren't that bad or he is merely the bait.
>>

One of the doors onto the bridge slides open and the Harbinger drifts forward, hands clasped behind its back as it approaches the pair of powerful undead. Valresko seemed to sense it first and turns to bow his head in greeting, drawing the attention of Ruscuv who turns her head curiously at the Harbinger as it moves up between them.

"Lord Jadyk, I assume you have returned to us whole and well," Valresko says, turning back to face the Harbinger as it moves to regard them both.

"Yes, I have finished my nap and wish to check in," came your voice through the Reconstructed.

Ruscuv chuckles, her humanoid hands pressing her talons together before her, "Do not speak of naps to me, Jadyk. I have slept for far too long myself."

"Self-fossilization is a bit of an extreme method to attain one, sister," you say with some amusement before your tone grows serious, "I see you've arrived in the Teuthan system."

"Yes, to speak with Zekrul at Necromancer Jors command," Ruscuv says with a faint tone of annoyance, "His timing could have been better. I've been eager to face this Empire that vexes our Armada so."

"There will be plenty of opportunities for that in the future, Ruscuv. The Empire is a stubborn foe and will likely come after us again," you say through the Harbinger, "Now, concerning Zekrul. He seems to be a paranoid one and prone to perceiving any slight as an insult. I fear my decision to stay and handle the Ahkam invasion after initially stating I would visit personally may have been viewed as such."

"I remember their patron the Charred God being as such. Razing worlds rather than harvesting the meat because they insulted them," Ruscuv says with a click of her mandibles.

"Precisely. I would recommend politeness with this one, for the time being," you say, "If combat does break out, I would rather he be the instigator rather than either of you."

"A wise decision. We do not know how he survived this long or if he's telling the truth about his imprisonment. He may have been attempting to lure you in by asking you here," Valresko says, his featureless face turning from the holoscreens to the Harbinger.

"The thought had not escaped me," you admit, a claw tapping the Harbingers chin, "However, perhaps he is just like me, a survivor who happened to have "luck" on their side in reaching this era. I recall I was this paranoid upon claiming Horizon's Drop for myself when I was this level of development."

Was there anything else you should say to them concerning their meeting with Zekrul?

Not really, Valresko is competent and Ruscuv is too if a bit more "wildcard"-y

If everything go south, focus Zekrul. I doubt he have any high-ranked undead who can work without him yet. That's pretty much all.

"Regardless of his intentions or motivations, keep your guard up. I doubt he has had the time to recruit or create undead that could rival either of you, nor recover his strength in its entirety. When my Harbinger spoke with him it could feel his strength was formidable, but I have no doubt that the pair of you will have much trouble with him, should violence become the outcome of this meeting," the Harbinger says with your voice.

Ruscuv gives an affirmative motion with her tendrils while Valresko nods and gives a short bow.

"May the Wormstar guide you both," you say before your mind turns to other matters and the Harbinger turns and drifts to an unoccupied alcove between Pilots secured in their gyroscopic mounts, waiting for the time you decide to occupy its mind once more.

"All we can do now is wait," Ruscuv says and gives a dramatic sigh as her large form hunkers down into a comfortable position with her legs and larger arms tucked in close.

"If I may ask something about your time before your fossilization," Valresko starts, glancing toward the Lich who gives a nod in return, "What can you tell me of the Sunscale?"

Chuckling the Lich lightly taps her chin with a claw that could rend through a battleships hull, "Curious about your origins?"

"Curious about the best ways to combat them, and their origins," He says simply, hands clasped behind his back and tail swaying lazily.

"We have time to kill until we meet with the grand Charred Knight, so be it," she says with dismissive wave of a hand and begins to recount her first encounter with a Warblood band that assaulted her Spire eons ago.

There is much to do and tend to in the New Necrotic Armada.

Rethak still awaits an audience concerning the Blackscales operation and first mission of the Phantom Necrolytes, the Immortal osjiic currently speaking with his officers concerning the rebuilding of Legion's Home and the growth of the Legion itself.

The governing body of Refuge still awaits a chance to speak with someone in a command position with the Armada.

Similarly the ructu Council is holding one of their daily meetings as they discuss recovering from the Ahkam's invasion and relocating those displaced after their villages were turned into warzones.

Red-Leaf-Strains sends a message, asking for a brief audience. The osogo necromancer was traveling through Iti'a'Ropku that day to speak and visit with the citizens. Her towering form was a common sight in the rapidly growing city, her mere presence helping sooth the inevitable disputes and arguments that arose from having so many beings from so many origins gathered under the Armada.

Jor leaves a message as well, detailing the latest broadcast from the underground news program Restricted Advice that the smugglers had found, along with their request for an interview with yourself or someone in the Armada. He also details the situation with the smugglers and their detour to the Myrshyn system. You see an indicator from the Deep Rot that the smugglers were just making landfall on Pequann and heading for one of the Dagger Clans ports to inspect their newly gained freighters for anything suspicious such as tracking or recording devices the Cartel may have installed.

There is also the matter of the public announcement you have planned, knowing it would be best to hold it within the Colosseum of Iti'a'Ropku when night fell over the city, leaving you time to complete your other tasks before then.

What shall you tend to next?

Red-Leaf-Strains was walking along a canal with a group of citizens trailing after her. Among them were members of nearly all races, even osjiic, that waited their turn to speak with her by speaking with each other. At the moment she was conversing with an esat that hovered roughly eye level with her, the gunship pilot turned botanist discussing plans to work with Slrrt and the Armatocere in establishing more orchards and food groves throughout the city to help feed the burgeoning population.

Near her side one of her grandchildren, a young calf hardly taller than seven feet at the shoulder, was chatting excitedly with a group of other children about the last races and how they were due to resume that night now that the threat of attack had seemingly passed. Their fur and quills also sported a bright crimson hue, more vibrant than Red-Leaf-Strains own, and the matron remembers how sickly the child had been. She'd feared they wouldn't make the pilgrimage to the city but now in the weeks since their arrival they calf had seemed to finally get over their wasting sickness and was flourishing in the city.

She spots movement out of one of her eyes and turns her head to see you floating stoically ahead by the side of the canal. Resembling your old appearance you had your hands clasped in your lap, your legs drawn up under you as you turn your gaze from the water to her direction.

Realizing you wished to speak with her she stop her pace, the rest of her group looking to her curiously, as she speaks with the esat, approving the planting of new orchards and construction of new food aquariums built. Satisfied the insectoid taps something down in the datapad they carried before stashing it in a pocket and giving an esat gesture of thanks before flying off toward the Floral Quarter.

Excusing herself and saying she'll be right back she separates from the confused on-lookers and takes only a few long strides that cover the distance to your illusion quickly. She bows her head to you, "Lord Jadyk. One of your psionic projections?" she questions while stretching out a hand that passes through your shoulder and makes her let out a slightly embarrassed laugh, "My apologies."

You chuckle as well, "It is of no worry, my friend. Yes, a projection created by your symbiot. A useful skill for conversing with my chosen disciples should a Harbinger prove unavailable."

"And less intrusive than a voice in our heads, although they must think I must be talking to myself" she says with a motion to the group waiting for her, her eyes flicking back and eyes squinting in a smile, "Again, I'm glad to see you are well, Lord Jadyk. I am glad you came to speak with me."

"Of course. You are very important to my Armada and me personally. What troubles you?" your image asks curiously, tilting your head to the side.

>cont
>>
>>2320672
"It concerns my people, those still making their pilgrimage here, and those that were slain by the Empire," she says, her symbiot detecting her sadness and regret. She pauses for several long moments before continuing, "Not only them, but the ructu and the stonestar, both victimized by the Ahkam.

"Are we doing enough? As the Armada, as its leadership, are we doing enough? Am I doing enough? I understand the importance of the pilgrimage, it taught me that a struggle and hardship are worth it if salvation and safety wait the end of it, but can we promise them this safety?"

It was strange to hear the normally confident and stoic osogo voice her doubts so freely, "What do you think we should be doing?" you ask gently.

She is silent for several moments before letting out air through her nostrils sharply in a sigh, "I do not know. I know our Armada helps many," she sweeps a hand to gesture to the city around them, "I know this with how many were freed from the tyranny of the Empire on Kanda, from the stonestar we took in after the Lavafather would have killed them, from the ructu we protected from the Ahkam."

She lets out another heavy sigh then shakes her head, her mane of red quills shaking and jangling the various trinkets woven among them. You catch a glimpse of a thought, realizing that many of the trinkets had been carved and gifted to her by new immigrants of the Armada to show their thanks to the towering Necromancer, "I wish I could do more."

Red-Leaf-Strains has expressed self-doubt rarely seen in the osogo matron. What shall you say to put her mind at ease?

Why don't we suggest she lead a humanitarian corp? A non-military faction specifically equipped to deal with social and economic issues, we could get that (I forgot their name sorry) scholarly Akham in on it and everything.

We could do Exploration fleets, that go and explore unclaimed territory to find new life and make new discoveries, Humanitarian corp like >>2320697

There is also always military service as well, a way to personally try and provide said safety and salvation in a more direct way.

Kind of on the topic, I'd like it if eventually we might have some kind mandatory military service, while not necessarily front line I feel it could only be beneficial to our civilians if they were trained and knew how to act in a crisis.

There is no such thing as absolute safety in the universe, to live and exist is to struggle. Just as no one can stand alone against the universe, you can't save everyone in it.
But that's not reason enough not to act. That's why the Armada exists and the Legion thrives along side of it. Perhaps we should do more, an auxiliary arm for relief and aid to those who needed it.

"Do you doubt the importance of what you do for the Armada and its peoples?" you ask simply.

She hesitates at that and glances back toward the group waiting for her as they chatted amicably among each other. Her eyes squint in a smile as she sees her grandchild bleating out a laugh alongside the other young members of the Armada. Shaking her head she looks back to your illusion, "I do not. I just wish..."

"That you could do more. I know," you say, nodding in understanding, "I relate with that desire, my friend. Just know that without you I fear my Armada would have been a failed experiment. It is only through your kindness, understanding, and selflessness that so many have come together peacefully. Without you and your herd, I would be relying on brute force and threats to keep so many in line.

"There is no such thing as absolute safety in this universe. To live, to exist, is to struggle. Just as no one being, no matter their strength, can stand alone against the universe, you can't save everyone in it. But that is not reason enough not to act. That is why the Armada exists and the Legion thrives alongside it."

She is silent as she listens, merely nodding as you continue, "We are strongest together, working with each other. This is why I have my Generals and my Necromancers, why I created the Deep Rot and the Think Tanks. Everyone and everything cannot rely on themselves solely.

"I understand your desire to do all that you can to ensure the safety of those you care for. I have learned to embrace this desire, which was so alien and foreign to my very existence for so long. With your help, we can make the Armada do wonderful things," you gesture out to the city around you, "Rest assured, that without your aid and compassion, this city would be a prison for those here, rather than a new home."

Red-Leaf-Strains nods her head, ears drooping slightly with her shame but she lifts herself up again, her melancholy washing away, "I still wish to do more."

"Then you shall have your wish. Soon we will likely be taking possession of the Refuge system and all those that dwell within it. This means many more people than those living here will be under our protection and I will need someone I can trust. How would you like to assist me in this endeavor? Your responsibilities will still exist here in Iti'a'Ropku, you who are the heart of the living in my Armada, but I have need of your talents," you say through your illusion and already you can feel her growing more bold as you speak, "I would like you to create something of a humanitarian effort, similar to the Legion, but with the intent to uplift and provide aid to those less fortunate. Perhaps your sisters and other members of your herd would assist you along with perhaps the stonestar and ructu."

Red-Leaf-Strains is silent for some time as she mulls over her thoughts while chewing on a lip before giving a sharp nod, her ears lifting forward in determination, "I think this is a good plan. Upon the return of my sisters from their missions guiding and spreading the word of Iti'a'Ropku to the disparate herds, I will speak with them about this. They will help, I know they will," her expression softens somewhat with a smile, "Plus I have been wanting to see other worlds ever since I visited Rukor.

"There is much I need to tend to here before I can depart, but I shall make the proper preparations. I know of several that can help step up in my place when I am away. I will even speak with the stonestar below. They came to Iti'a'Ropku before many of the others and I know several who view the city with as much reverence as I," she gives a determined nod, "Thank you, Lord Jadyk, and I apologize for my doubts."

"There is no need to apologize, my friend. I have my own doubts but I know that many of them I can overcome with assistance from the Armada, from my family," your illusion gives a laugh and shake of the head, "I know that I have changed since the days when I was freed from my tomb.

"I worry about the living and their comfort, about the well being of my favored," you say with a nod to her, the osogo smiling, "It is a trait I believe I absorbed from you and Jor."

>Red-Leaf-Strains has had her doubts assuaged and approves of the idea of establishing a humanitarian effort among the citizens of the Armada, already making plans to begin recruiting from the populace and her own herd

"Before I leave you to your duties, what can you tell me about the general state of the population? Have those from Kanda been adapting well? What about the osjiic from there as well? Any lingering stresses from the Ahkam invasion or the Empires attack?" you question, knowing it would be prudent to get a feel for the city and its population before addressing them later that night.

Red-Leaf-Strains, her doubts soothed for the moment by thoughts and plans for the future, runs her stout powerful fingers through the mane under her chin in thought, a remarkably human gesture you mused before she spoke, "Concerning those freed from the Empire on Kanda, for the most part they seem to be adjusting well so far. I've tried to speak with many of them but..." she lets out a sigh and a tired laugh, "There are quite a large number of them but there are those who joined the Armada prior to them that have stepped up to help them out.

"Many are still somewhat in shock by their new freedoms but they are warming up and relaxing although I fear that for most of them, the adults and the elderly, their minds will bear the scars for many years to come. My own calf and her oldest work at helping them deal with these wounds of the soul while the Dreamstones and Narcotikelp seem to be helping in that regard, at least for now.

"The osjiic population has been...slower to adjust. They tend to stick to their own but longer term members and those who joined the Legion have been making efforts at getting them to mingle with the other races. This is a topic I actually discussed with Rethak before the invasion and it seems all we can do is continue to try. I will not deny there is some tensions between them, but the Domination Spikes and Reconstructed presences have kept most arguments from escalating beyond exchanged words and blows. Thankfully other members of the population have been dutiful in trying to keep confrontations peaceful."

"We knew we should not expect them to play nice so soon. Hopefully they will learn to get along, but I suppose expecting every single person to coexist happily is a far stretch without implanting symbiots in everyone," you say with a wry laugh.

Red-Leaf-Strains does not laugh only making a motion with a hand as a thought occurs to her, "Oh yes, I'm sure you know already but speaking of symbiots the first groups of tyrre have been implanted with their own just this morning at the suggestion of Vle'Karak and Jor. So far the symbiots are adjusting to their new hosts and devising the best ways to maintain their hormonal levels. Now they merely kill when they're hungry rather than when they see something," she says with her gentle bleat of a laugh.

>cont
>>
>>2321050

"Hopefully it helps them. Currently they are more a liability to the Armada and I doubt I can keep throwing every tyrre we taken in into the Colosseum," you shake your head, remembering the unrestrained fury of the tyrre "alpha" that gave you the idea of for the arena, "And what of their moods after the invasion and the attack?"

"Those who were of the Ahkam formerly have been celebrating near nightly after you slew the Matriarch. It is not often they see their new god slay their old," Red-Leaf-Strains says.

"I am no god. No more than the Matriarch was," you say sternly and the osogo nods, holding her hand up in understanding.

"I understand, Lord Jadyk, forgive me. I will say that the population who used to be of the Ahkam are in good spirits. There have been those among their number questioning when you shall be going to free the rest of their kind from the serpents tyranny, particularly among the esat population. They are the most recent acquisition for the Ahkam until their attempts at gaining the ructu and the stonestar and from what I've heard, there has always been a resentful sentiment brewing among their population since their joining," she says while brushing at her mane in thought.

"Vle'Karak said roughly the same. They could be a powerful ally if we help them break the shackles of the Ahkam, perhaps even joining us," you say hopefully.

"However, those from Kanda were a little more shaken by the osjiic attack. Many believed it to be retaliation for their liberation or defection," she says with a shake of her head.

"Defection?"

"That is what the osjiic are saying they would be considered, traitors to the Empire and only fit for execution," she grimaces, "A very specific and painful execution, apparently involving a wheel and broken limbs and some homeworld beasts of theirs," she gives a shudder that shakes her whole form, the various trinkets and baubles in her mane and outfit jingling.

"Either way, we've been working to reassure them but I think they need to hear it from you. Tell them that we will do our best to protect them and ensure their safety," Red-Leaf-Strains says, her eyes looking directly into your illusion.

"That is my plan," you say with a nod, "I will let you return to your duties, Red-Leaf-Strains. Do not doubt your importance but do not let it bring hubris, take contentment in the knowledge that your efforts strengthen the Armada. To Death and through it to Eternity, may the Wormstar watch over you."

She bows her head low, "To Death and through it to Eternity," she intones and lifts it but your illusion had faded, leaving her to shake her head and return to the group. She quickly picks up where she left off by speaking with a netu and epikor concerning the building of a school where engineers could gather and exchange knowledge, the conversation turning to include the possibility of other disciplines.

Let's close up issues caused by the recent conflicts before starting new ones. They probably need to talk about resolving issues from the latest invasion and deepening their ties with the Armada. That means the next order after the Ructu Council would be

> Contact the Refuge Government

They probably want to formally join the Armada. That's a result of past events there, but it'll probably start new issues too with the Confederacy.

And then
> Commander Rethak

IIRC he wants to talk about coordinating an attack with the Blackscale on Confederate secret military labs. That's definitely new conflicts rather than cleaning up old ones.

I tend to favor wrapping up as many loose ends as possible so our attention and efforts aren't overly divided when a crisis comes up.

Dusk had already fallen over the capital city of Rukor when the council prepared to retire for the night after those gathered finished eating a communal meal within the large chamber with members of their family and refugees taken in from the other villages. They filled the seats around the edges with cooks standing at tables and fires set up in the central pit.

The scene was similar across the capital, no ructu household or building turning away the needy and gladly sharing their meals with them. Even members of the Legion were welcomed to join them for the meal, the tired Necrolytes thankful for the offers. Even before the Armada had liberated Rukor, before the Ahkam arrived to enslave them, it was a part of ructu custom never to turn away the hungry or desperate. Their culture had formed from their treks across the treacherous seas where often it was only the compassion of neighboring tribes that allowed their species to flourish despite the hardships of the world.

The conversations within the chamber were respectfully quiet, the ructu language not prone to raised voices, but they fall silent as a Harbinger drifts forward from the shadows with a demi-Think Tank at their side. The elders quickly clean themselves as their platters were picked up and taken away by those nearby.

They bow low and make gestures of welcome, one of them wiping one last mandible clean of grease from fried eel before speaking up, "Ah, welcome welcome! We were just enjoying our duskmeal, pardon us."

The Harbinger lifts a hand as your voice emits from it, "Worry not. I should be the one to apologize. It can be hard keeping track of time between worlds."

The elder nods with uncertainty but clasps their hands together, "It is good to hear your voice once more, Lord Jadyk. That is who we speak to, yes?"

"I speak with his voice for him. My words are his, I am his Harbinger, one of many so my words may reach the furthest reaches of the galaxy," it says with a slight bow before its legs are drawn up under it to appear seated in mid-air above a blank portion of the sand pit before the council, "I have come because I hear that you wished to speak with me. My apologies for taking so long to get back to you. The battle left me tired and I needed to recover, but now I have returned and am eager to hear your words, wise elders."

"First Necromancer Jor was very polite and helpful in your absence, Lord Jadyk," another elder with chitin carved with geometric patterns says, "He heard our plea to be allowed to sail and explore the sea of stars, just as we sailed the seas of mother Rukor."

Another speaks up, "He said he would speak with the Commander of your honorable Legion also. There are those among us that wish to learn how to defend ourselves and our home, including the Armada. Your Necrolytes have been a great boon to us all, they have helped save many ructu alongside your Reconstructed, and there are those that wish to join them if they could."

"The revered shaman has already retired for the night, her age making her weary early, wishes to speak with you in the future about visiting your city of Iti'a'Ropku," the one who wore a kryssers decorated jaws as a collar spoke, "She speaks of it being in her dreams, of it being the twin port in the Sea of Stars alongside Vyi'a'Rthun."

"When the First Necromancer was spoke with us, he told us of this Wormstars Fist and the safety it would bring Rukor. We have been spreading the word among the villages and our votes are being tallied. It is an important decision that will affect all ructu and forever shape Rukor, this much we know, as such we must gather the opinions of all villages. We don't particularly need a separate exploratory corps with all the eyegores we throw around. I think they should exist independently just for the sake of us not needing to manage them.
>They also mention their request that the ructu be allowed to enlist with the Legion and further expand their role within the Armada proper.
I don't think there should be any issues here, the Legion accepts all recruits (as far as I remember?), Even if they are physically frail they can still serve as technicians or medics, etc. As a race they are predisposed to a necrotic affinity and seeing as all our tech is necrotic-based they'd probably be quite good at working with it.
>The revered shaman has already retired for the night, her age making her weary early, wishes to speak with you in the future about visiting your city of Iti'a'Ropku
Is there anything stopping her? I had thought we allowed any ructu to come to Iti'a'Ropku that wished. If she was thinking more a guided tour that would probably be a good job for Red-Leaf-Strains or Jor fuck it she can hang out with Jor on the beach and talk about their weird dreams

I disagree with the use of noncombatants. We use the legion and the Order recruits to bolster our forces and build a connection between the undead and living aspects of our civilization. However, I tend to view our rule as custodial: we are here to clean up the bullshit that his risen in the previous millennia to let the races rise to new heights and, once things have settled and the galaxy is at (relative) peace, we fuck of somewhere, whether to explore, to hide or simply to contemplate.. I do not want that to be done by binding them to closely to the dead. They should be able to pursue their own lives as long as they dont to greatly contravene our own. It would be bad if the new members we released from the chains of the empire, the worship of the Akham and the abuse of the Confederacy, only to be forced to use their very minds when they only desire to live their lives. This may be rescinded in a time of emergency, but that also means we need to be even more sure.

I also disagree with mandatory military service. You get the best results from volunteer forces anyway. But we could expand what most living species would consider acceptable volunteer forces.

For those unable to meet the physical requirements of the legion due to health reasons, have a terminal illness, or have suffered debilitating injuries we could graft them into a reconstructed tank and send them on even more harrowing missions as a kind of fast track to qualifying for Immortal'dom.

We might need to finish research on the Juggernaut mechs and call them Legion Cataphractarii to fit with the Roman naming aesthetic. Have our own 40k Dreadnaughts/SC Dragoons.

I agree, simply put, all people are not fit for military service; for a lot of different reason. If we really want to impose some sort sort of mandatory service; a civilian service would be way more fitting, with the possibility of replacing it with military service.

I disagree with non-legion military on the grounds that we have our reconstructed. The vast majority of our forces are reconstructed and the legion exists to tighten the bonds between us and the living as well as semi-elites and to make conquest and relif battles easier. Any additional living would make little diffrence in our forces.

I was thinking about service in the legion here, sorry for the misunderstanding.

We keep talking about what to do with our squishy mortals, but what we really need is a proper battle form. I cant stand this tail we have, a tail on a legged creature is meant to provide balance which would imply that we weren't the perfectly balanced abomination that we have become.

So I suggest a return to basics. Pump up our human diplomacy body a bit so we are extra tall, we should be head and shoulders taller then the tallest human but svelte enough to not be confused for an Osjiic. Now pack the thing with extra meat, maybe in the form of necrotic crystals to keep the smooth aesthetic as apposed to the horror one and maybe retain a bit of our storage capacity. Then take advantage of our new ability by articulating our armor maybe adding a Helm in a stylized rendition of the ancient necroworms skull and mandibles.

We spent most of our time ignoring our original form, and being mocked because of it. We felt kind of snubbed by the Masked when they gave us a mask with a similar face to our original and from the few flashbacks I got the feeling that his own title itself originated in a mocking light. His closest associates either insane outcasts or true might makes right types. Well I say we remind the cosmos of the Conquering Worm.

Well, we changed form before our imprisonment(see our flashbacks), so we even then we ignored it to an extent. Some may view our oldest and truest title as an object of scorn, but I view it as one of pride, because at our core, that is what we are: The Conquring Worm. We started from nothing, with nothing, except limitless ambition. I dont mind our outwards appearance, since it doesn't change what we are and our title will be synonymous with our greatness, so no need to put on some bug aesthetic.

I'm not sure that I can get behind a designated Battleform. Maybe a basic template, but we can now Reconstruct ourselves on the fly, so it seems limiting to do more then that.

Im certainly down for the helm being Worm inspired, If we openly display our pride at how far we have come by remembering our origins it cannot be used as a weapon against us.

My point is we were already infamous and are gradually becoming noteworthy again, so even if people talk shit, most will still recognize what we have done. If some assholes still try to mock us because we started out as some grub on some sun bleached world, we can just tell them "Yes, and I earned everything I had and now with my own will. How about you?" I just don't view us starting out as a grub as being that big of a deal, and starting to put on bug aesthetic wouldn't help matters. Lets not let let one jab by the chucklefuck Masked make us look insecure.

except thats what we have been. our entire specialty is partly due to our feelings of inadequacy in relation to our original form. We couldn't do much as a lowly grub our capability was tied to what our host could do untill the worm star came. After that where most factions simply reuse corpses or were straight up space ghosts we broke them down and reformed their very natures to the point where we technically didn't need corpses at all. Our original form became our phylactery and we still based our body on some other usualy humanoid form while hiding our original form inside our body. Then the wasps crushed our phylactery to dust and showed us the true death. Yet die we did not. And when we reconstituted ourselves in our prison we took a variation of the human form.

Now that we have emerged from our reforming and are starting anew it would be nice for a minor rework of our general aesthetic to something more personal. We are also the last of our kind, since I doubt any world that came under the direct light of the Wormstar lasted very long and any who did rise to the call of undeath would probably been subordinate to us and been sundered with our fleet at the end, thus we ourselves are a perfect example of our own Tao.

True death is oblivion
Life is infinite change
Undeath is eternity
Undeath without Life is stagnation

That said with the new ability we could have a whole rogues gallery of forms to choose from on top of the basic utility of quick swapping built in weaponry and armor.

Physical inadequacy. We aren't some teenager worried about how others will think, we were a grub that needed better forms to accomplish its goal. I am fine with as changing the ascetic, but I also view our new form as a change in aesthetic to our old form. After all, our goals, motives and means are different then what they were before. As for the last of our kind, we almost never to seem to refer or think of ourselves as one of our old species. It is probably more akin to childhood memories(our early,EARLY years) then some permanent identifier.
As for the rouges gallery of forms, I agree wholeheartedly, but many of them will probably be made on the fly/my Graves, or at least the first few, such as our Arc form. I just prefer the classic, simple skeleton as our base/at ease form. If we want to fight/intimidate some people, then some...alterations will defiantly be in order.

We developed our specialty in our "teen years" if you want to look at it that way. Ruscovs ultra-custom is more akin to our true nature then a human skeleton is and the only reason we had that at start (aside from narrative simplicity) is because the Alliance was the strongest enemy of the armada at the time of our sundering by the Wasps. I'm even fine with keeping an updated but still human form for our primary form since our biggest iffy diplomatic relationship is with two human centric factions. The current form just doesn't feel Jadyk to me since its just a Human skeleton with a tail and fangs and it did its job of showcasing our new arc abilities, that we can change our form now without a lengthy reconstruction, and avoiding the mess that a vote on what our form should be at the start of the thread would have been. If we want something that is 100% Jadyk it would probably be a sphere of Necrocrystalline and reconstructed armor leaking necrotic energy through Worm-tongue runes depicting various arias to the Worm Star orbited by four lesser orbs representing the different energy types (maybe 6 having one be strait Crystal and another be Quasiphasic) and his spear.

From the first moment we chose to be Jadyk and in almost every flashback he made some mention of our feelings of inadequacy of our original form, ranging from "a pitiful grub that controlled corpses like a puppet" to our feelings of failure to stop the Wasp from crushing our phylactery which was literally our original body. The only time Jadyk didn't conflate feelings of inadequacy with his original form was in the flashback where he was on his home world looking up in religious awe at the Wormstar. That's why I think a Grub/Beetle aesthetic would be apt also as a visual representation of finding a measure of peace in regards to what he is.

man the think tanks really like debating about jadyks history.

It all comes down to mindset truly and functional forms. Truly I do not think Jadyk has some, underly body identity issues, In fact I am sure its all rather old hat and he would simply change his form to suit what ever function he required at the time.

Back when he was a world devouring tyrant, he had a body to suit that cause, large imposing powerful

He could if inclined change his form to that of a worm but, logistically thinking it would be conterproductive.

The skeletal form has stuck around for so long simply because it serves its purpose, it is intimidating at 7 feet tall, but not overly monstrous which fits in well with our whole "sort of approachable papa Jadyk" spiel he is currently going with.

on going discussion asside, we should all ignore the real reason we are a generic skeleton is because when the quest started we had yet to choose one of the 3 premade settings and so needed a relative blank slate with which for us all to impose our own personal features to as the quest grew.

Having said all that, it certainly lets you see into the mind of Ruscov, her form seems to imply she has entered this time period with a mind set on Domination and destruction.

>>2333495
I rather enjoy seeing anons discuss their personal opinions on the quests characters and interactions vitriol or not it just shows others are probably as obsessed with the quest as myself
>>
>>2333546
As a general, her form suits her position and personality quite well. As for your mention of premade features, I distinctly remember that when we drained our first victims, we started to regrow skin on our face:we were never 100% spooky skeleton. However, it seems to have been gradually retconned, thanks in part to Mr.Smiles amazing art, and the anons general acceptance of that image.so i'd say we have already found our personal features for our base form.
