Minerva's glory is just creeping into the room as you yawn, awakening into the silk sheeted dorm that is your new home. Through blurry eyes you notice your sunsister Jo is the only one awake and the Amazon silently praying by her bed on the far side of the room.

From the half word you catch and the gesure of her praying, you surmise that she's been raised under morning tribute sect of your faith.

This ineresting tidbit of knowledge about your friend is sotred away for later as you adopt the same pose as he, planting a knee into the comfortable carpet laying one arm flat horizontal and placing your hand upon that wrist. Breathing deeply, you pull the sunlight around you as a warm cloak of comfort.

Minerva, Lady of Light. This morning finds me well and it is your strength and love that has given it to me. I give my thanks and love to you in kind; that you may give me many more. Walk with me this day and let your light fill me as I live, sand with me as I face those who would harm me and mine, to remove the evil from the hearts of man.

Thanks Minerva, for believeing in me and making me believe in you. Thanks for the new friends...

All ask is that you make sure Luc is happy. Please?

"Amen." You say aloud, feeling the warmth of Minerva retreat from around you. Rising; Maria is sitting in bed pointedly saring at the wall when she dresses - her tense shoulders making it obvious she's well aware what you and Jo were doing.

Cellahad is taking stock of her inventory, books and scrolls scattered across her bed in an impressive array of materials.Crystals, bizarre sticks, tomes and scrolls... Honestly you feel like you stepped into one of Lexington's closets.

Stella is mumbling that she just wants five more minutes, despite Jo having literally picked her out of her roost as easily as a child in it's cradle. Fortunately your dressing is prompt, meaning that you are pretty much ready to go to class. The schedule left on your bed is now on the floor, a document you should have probably looked at before now.

Why does your first class just say "Courtyard" for a location.

Ready? You are nowhere near ready! In fact, everything from head to toe is needing a redo. With a noise of displeasure you storm past Stella in Jo's arms, Cellahad's treasure trove of items and begind undressing on your way to the shower. Ensuing the ladies have at least a short view of your ass, that does not matter. Although they should be honoured to bathe in your form - what matters is the scalding hot water that you do not feel sliding down your wounded body. The multitude of scars and old aches being sweeped away as sure as the accrued filth and sweat of your hectic lifestyle.

It is heavenly, being able to forget about the world and enjoy your own body being cleansed. Brought closer to the perfection it can be. As tempting as it is to praise and reward yourself with some attention; you restrain your... unruly libido in the name of being prompt and on time.

As you step out, you find your clothes have been folded and... Cleaned? How did... "Magically cleaned clothes, hurry up. You fighty types start class soon! -Cella" The cursive ridden note tells you.

In fact, you have a very short time to make it now. Very short indeed.

Realizing that unlike most people in this building, transporting yourself from the extremely lofty heights of your dorm to the ground in a hurry is easily. You could probably even jump from here, as uncouth as it would be to dirty your clothing again; it is an option. No, you will be on time but you will arrive in style. With no hesitation you through open the windows of the room to the bright morning light, feeling the warm air rest on your face and chest the same way one would feel a pet's warmth. Stepping beyond the confines of the dorm, you place both feet on the outside wall of the building. All momentum halted as you impossibly stand horizontal. Crouching sideways, you close and secure the window from the outside before turning on your heel to start making your way towards the throng of onlookers.

They gawk, surrounding the statuesque warrior standing in their midst. Warlord Chiron's working eye studies you in an almost total awareness... It does manage to startle you when it comes to your attention, almost making you falter from your momentous arrival. From exit to arrival is almost two minutes, but planting your feet on the ground and approaching; you feel the pleasure of many eyes on you and whispering.

You don't pick up anyone you know in the crowd directly surrounding you, so you just bask in the gossip you have caused.

"Well then. The Dragonslayer has arrived." Warlord Chiron notes, "Now tell me something kid. What d'you think that stunt was?"

"Well Warlord. I was using my skills to get here on time. I figured you'd be pretty pissed if I arrived late, so I wanted to make sure I got here." You say, not quite squaring up to the teacher but nor were you retreating.

As if anticipating some kind of confrontation the entire class has backed off, leaving you in a makeshift square of solitude. The reaction is slow to come, but it is surprisingly positive; "Well good work Purps! That's the kind of simple solution finding that'll serve ye well in life." Her compliment is warm and vaguely gritty, but you absorb it all the same. She turns her attention to the crowd, giving you a vague gesture to join them.

Falling in, she begins speaking. "Alright, all of your Martial students will recieve your evaluations today! Your weapons are stored in the large black trunks, your one bears your Dorm name! That's F5 for female five! B2 for boy two and so on. Get your gear so we can get fighting."

Organized chaos erupts as the crowd seems to melt into a million streams of traffic. Finding your own group's is easy due to the gigantic Amazon sitting at a solid three heads higher than everyone else on the courtyard. In fact, even Maria stands out in her own way, gigantic black fists seeming to drink in the light around her are apparently enough to give the duo a wide berth.

"Hello Sister!" Jo shouts seeing you. In her hand is a familiar silk glove and large metal disc, "I believe this is yours?"

"It is indeed Jo." Confirmation of this gives her a big grin and you cautiously accept the handover of weaponry, slipping your hand into the glove. Feels totally identical to your own weapon.

"Sucks you guys need replicas." Maria says without warning, "I'm gunna have t'just hold back on ma own." She flexes her hands.

"I am sure you will not need to worry about holding back little one." Jo refutes, her face indicating a desire to stick her tongue out at the small Darnite.

As you begin focusing on the coming fight you feel your standard monotone creeping in as emotion recedes. "Maria is quite a frightening opponent. If she is sincerely unfettered to the degree we are by using facsimilies of our weapons - she may kill someone every single sparring session."

While you begin scanning the crowd, Lexington approaches Chiron and the the two confer about something. "Well I think I would be able to handle the little Darnite ea-"

"Someting's up." Maria cuts her off, arms folded while staring at the same sight you are. "Isn't that yer magic daddy?"

Chiron's voice sounds out magically enhanced, as a quadracy of forcefields mark out a quite spacious arena. The Courtyard is enclosed now, with all of your fellow students surrounding it. As you look at the grey-green box, scenery and obstacles form around the two teachers. It is a swift but gradual process, "Alright! When you've finsihed your fight yer done! But until then, stay handy and stay sharp! Doctor Lex is a good medic, but remember you can die in these classes! When we call your name, just step through! Good Luck, Impress me!"

Each battle plas out the same, Chiron sits on her... skull throne and takes everything in with an unbroken stare, seemingly unfazed by any manuever, spell or techinque deployed in the ring. Her hand darts across scrolls provided in infinite amounts by an extremely uninterested Lexington, the man barely raising a hand to keep summoning and sending the annotated paper elsewhere after it is ravaged by the rapid assaults of Chiron's quill.

After fifteen matches with only short spikes of interesting activity; the Eyepatched Warlord finally shouts the news you've been waiting for.
"Match sixteen is next up! Would Purps Lexington and Jo Barnedias step in the field; let's get your asses moving people!" Chiron shouts in a bored voice.

The two of you move as one, marching in step as the two tallest women in the crowd. Bodies part like water for the towering warriors as you size each other up with equal parts warm and curious looks. "Hope you're going to give me a show sister." She teases, her features gentle despite the hard eyes.

"Not a show Jo. A dance." You correct as you feel little pieces of purple burn behind your crimson eyes. With your long strides, both of you are in the ring under the now interested Lex and he ever impassive Chiron. With a flicked wrist your saw leaps into your hand and the greatsword on Jo's back reveals it's brilliance.

Her Goldened blade is ready to take on your silvered steel. She gives a Minervan salute, fist on heart; which you return with gusto. "Competitors; ready arms!" Chirson shouts without moving a muscle.

Two sunsisters enter their stances, your disk held close in your sile wrapped hand while Jo's sword is held point forward with the bracer arm leading; to your left is the crater where some great beam tore through the courtyard, behind Jo the ground is covered in boulders. But here, in the centre? There is only the perfectly and unnatural even footing.

"BEGIN!"

She comes.

Dashing from left to right at the top of your speed is enough to force a halt to Jo's charge, the behemoth having to stop and plant her feet as your stance and position change time and again with every heartbeat. She's grinning as you hop around her, kicking up small gusts of wind as you go. Your left hand prepares to catch the second serrated blade as your leap at Jo from her shielded side and bring both roaring discs down towards her throat in a flipping strikes that will catch and then bypass her guard.

The wind whips through your short hair and you execute the maneuver perfectly, but as you prepare to catch and strike with your second saw -

Nothing happens.

The shock is momentary, but it is moment enough to allow Jo to counter your attempt. And a broadsword slashes out at your upside down shoulder and bites deep - your saw only serving to deflect down/up at your elbow instead of taking the entirety of your arm. Yet again though the taste of cold steel inside your wrist and the noise of blade on bone echoes through your body. With a savage grunt you let gravity drag you to the floor, trying to backpeddle and defend with the flat of your saw as Jo takes the intiative.

She uses her towering frame well, minimising your avenues of escape while herding you towards the uneven footing of the crater. She's moving her blade slightly at each impact, preventing a parry as best she can while you backpeddle and hope for an opening.

You're losing. And hard.

Instead of backing off or blocking like a normal person, you anticipate Jo's swing; flipping the hand holding the saw and forcing your own opening at the cost of taking Jo's sword on your bicep. From her perspective you must look like you've gone mad when you bite back and scream and ram your saw directly at her chest; blade screaming and tearing at her armour with the same intensity you push against her.

The blonde bombshell drops back a step and then another, before her amorured boots dig into the stone and start sliding back as you begin carving your way through her breastplate. Her gaze changes from determined anger to urgent fury, her buckler coming under your saw to slap it away - bizarrely, both you end up in mirrored poses.

Each of you look set to hug one another and the violent if not feral smiles on your faces give the whole scene an almost hysterical comedic air. Were it not for the blood gushing from your mangled off arm and he spurting wound you've given Jo across her chest; it'd be a real friendly looking scene. A bizarre existensial moment in the midst of a fiery battle passes quickly and soon you press from your newfound stalemate, giving your saw some slack to begin bomabarding the buxom blonde from all angles. A soft ooh echoesing throughout the students as your saw becomes a blur of rebounding, looing and sweeping strikes that all chip and shred at her armour and shield.

Her eyes never waver from her stalwart and focused defense, making use of blade, gauntlets and buckler to keep you from scoring another good hit. In the end her facade is broken only for a second, allowing you to reel in your saw and attempt to slam it home in her side... Whether it is sloppiness, your wounds or simply being outthought at the crucial juncture; a glowing golden palm gets between your saw and it's target....

"Sunshine Fist..." You mutter eyes wide as the energy flows up her arm...

As the next step of the sunshine fist comes into play you disarm yourself in a practiced maneiver, your right hand turning into a knife shape just long enough for the silk glove to tumble onto the cobbles by the weight of the steel disc. Bending your knees slightly just as your friendly foe has done your extend your left palm outwards towards the glowing golden fist that is wrapped around the handle of her blade.

Whether by accident or design her weapon excellently hid her adoption of the stance and soaking and build up of energy; but on you - the ragged black sleeve of your uniform and shredded pale skin do nothing to hide the glowing golden aura around your left arm.

Jo's punch is made up of your own hit and her own already impressive power; the two overlaying and combining into a strike that breaks your arm even through the sunshine fist glow that envelops it. Hearing the snapping of the bone mus equate victory in her mind, as some of the competitve edge in her smile is replaced by smugness.

For a moment.

https://youtu.be/eOGkZsuFILU?t=6

As the energy rushes up your shattered wrist and your broken elbow through the masses of flesh that you used to call a well toned bicep it fills you with power. Burning power that you unleash as a single flowing movement; pivoting your hips as it it enters and moves through you like some kind of golden chain of snaking force. Jo tries to bring up her buckler but it is too slow, your right first lashing out and socking her in the jaw.

Another hysteric moment as your own strike carries you off your feet into the air, even as it launches Jo back and off of hers. She's smiling in defiance as the full force of the blow impacts, the glimmer of joy replaces by pain as she becomes a shining plated blur shooting across the courtyard.

Through a boulder, another, another hunk of rock. You see a ripple in Lex's barrier from where she must have hit; a half dozen of the cotages sized boulder all collapsing on top of her as Jo is buried in rubble.

You're still in the air. But the physical high lass only a fraction of the metaphorical as you tumble into the stones awkwardly and hard enough to draw a muffled curse that is drowned by the waves of muttering chatter in the crowd. Hauling in breaths like you have not in what seems like an age... The silence is deafening.

"How does this work? Do I get a ten count or..." You ask yourself as you stagger to your feet. Across the ring the boulders are starting to shake slightly; is Jo strong enough to dig her way out of that? Does she have magic? Should you help her right now? Why the fuck are Lex and Chiron not getting involved?

"I just buried my fucking friend just because they asked me to." You realise; not sure if you're speaking aloud or not anymore. You take a second to think, just think and stare at the dried sticky blood on your hands and arms.

"Not now. Not now." You say as your head begins hurting. For a brief second your staring into sightless blue eyes and have ears ringing from a crash; but you manage to blink back to reality with your breathing.

inhale

exhale

inhale

exhale

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7kJRGPgvRQ

As little glowing flecks of light begin concentrating around your hands you begin heading to the trembling pile of rubble, slowly at first but with each step and breath your confidence returns to you. Though one arm lies limp, bloody and useless on your left side, the other picks up your saw and slips the glove on easily. Tossing the hungry buzzsaw up into the air and recalling back down in rhythym.

As easily as flicking a coin on your thumb like some hustler, you approach cautiously and it is that caution which saves you when Jo kicks a boulder the size of Lex's wagon at you. The projectile it hit with such strength that it flies horizontal like a door freed of it's hinges toward you.

Rearing back as if your saw was a whip, you give the weapon some slack before bringing it over your head and down - the whirring sparking teeth chewing through the rock and down into the paving stones. Once there you hold down the rev launching you at Jo amidst the rubble.

You clash in mid air, stirking her buckler and using the recoil of her parry to seperate again. Tossing the disc past her and into the ground, you once more use the recall to throw your body at her in an impossibly jarring mid air redirect. Striking at her with a knee like some kind of huma meteor.

She stands firm. Grabbing you and slamming you into one of the myriad boulders enclosing you like a forrest. But she's given you the element of surprise as the rubble and tree like outcroppings take you from her sight. You might be evenly matched in a slugfest; but a big paladin like her? Well... you do love playing cat and mouse.

> [WORRY] Back off enough to accurately locate her and plan cautiously

Inside the dust and darkness is your playing field and Jo is slow to realise that. Stepping up and over the foot high rubble you pounce at her and pivot midair to slash low across her thighs; sliding to a halt and jumping again even as the blood is beginning to pour from the deep wound. With no vision on you she cannot retaliate, so you bounce off a rock and strike her again on the pass by with a flurry of strikes that rip and tear through her back like a storm through a paper forrest. It is non sotp, constant overwhelming pressure as Jo simply ahas to try and withstand your barrage of blows, each one following the other like a symphony of pain.

The saw's roar sounds again and again as you rev it before each strike and after, confusing the titanic Sunsister as to the height and direction the next strike comes from as you bounce around the uneven surfaces and rubble with the aid of your enigma.

Were anyone able to peer through the veil of dust or the all encompassing rockslide, they'd see you picking up speed with each jump and throin in more spectacular acrobatics with each leap over your foe's head.

You land seventeen strikes in under ten seconds, at least three from each direction and two overheads that dig into her armour and flesh like you were carving open a fresh fowl. Looking around, the dust has begun to thin and seeing your advnatage being minimised retreat. Using her buckler as a platform to leap away and land in the middle of the arena once more, you take a knee and pant slightly.

Even for you, moving so quick and striking so precisely was tiring; but flipping around and looking great isn't what matters. Right now, what matters is if Jo is done or not.

From your left, you hear Chiron begin counting.

1

As she counts your straighten up and examine your arm.

2

An attempt at curling your fingers works, though it sends agony racing across your left side. Attempting to bend the arm is useless at best and horrible at worst.

3, 4

You start to feel slight pings of worry, the heap which you left Jo as has not moved whatsoever after the the force of your jump forced her into the dirt.

5. 6. 7.

Amazingly Jo's greatsword stabs into the ground almost halfway to the hilt. Both hands clasping it desperately, the girl begins rising slowly but surely. Half her face is covered in a crimson mask from a deep blow to the forehead and the deep rents in her armour bleed like floodwater.

8.

Jo rises and faces you, completely and silently defiant. Something in her has hardened as she pulls her sword from the dirt to resume the same stance she hstarted the fight in.

"MINERVA'S LANTERN!" You roar, throwing your arm out to the side as jets of purple flame erupt from every pore on your body and send waves of scalding steam across the surrounding area. Even your eyes burn with the lavender light, the power unleashed enough to kick up and spark fires in the air as you reign in the flames to a half inch from your skin. With gritted teeth you manage to ignore the sizzling sound and sensation of cauterisation from your wounded left arm, Jo is simply grinning at you from across the field of battle while the assembled masses all gasp in awe towards such a display of power.

"So this is what I need to catch up on?" She says, "This is a dragonslayer hm?" There's admiration in her voice, but you see the weakness in her legs and the slight shiver in her posture. Bloodloss is going to take it's toll soon.

"Please surrender Sunsister..." The montone voice does not do the concern justice, but something in your face must, "You're done. I don't want to hurt you more."

In a flurry of red, your teacher stands between the two of you, "Winner; Purps Lexington!" She declares, taking the decision out of Jo's hands. Cheers and applause are taken up instantly, but you simply turn off your lantern and offer Jo your shoulder.

With her substantial weight on your good shoulder, you begin heading out of the barrier the way you came. Both standing as upright as you can, "Good fight Purps..." Jo says wearily.

"That was well fought Jo." You agree, steering the pair of you toward a small, shaded alcove where two healers and a surgeon have been plying their trade this morning. "You tried your best, that's all that was asked of you."

She grins, "Nah I'm going to beat you Purps, today just showed me how far I have to catch up with you Dragonslayer." The weight on your shoulder seems to be increasing more with each step and Jo's weak laugh turns into a painful racking cough. As you do your best to hurry, you notice that fresh blood coats her chin and the girl looks paler.

"You're right." You lie, "You've saw just what I'm capable of."

She looks amused as the two Inquisition healers lay her down and start barking orders. The surgeon is preparing tools in a blur while the duo begin taking off parts of her ruined armour, "Next time..." She promises quietly "I'll catch up."

You brush some bloodsoaked hair from her eyes tenderly, "I can't wait Sister."

"Think I'm gonna nap..." She tells you as a blue hand is pressed against her neck. A second later she's unconscious and the ragged shards of metal inside her wounds are being removed with haste and precision.

It looks like Jo will keep the medical team busy for a while and since your arm is cauterised, there's no danger of bleeding out or dying in another way from the painful wounds you've suffered. Because your match for this class is over, it means you're kind of free to do whatever you want until you get patched up...

Which is what?
