Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

When the darkness fades and your eyes once more open, you find yourself lying in a familiar bed, in a familiar room, in a familiar building. It's a room you've found yourself in far too many times in your brief tenure with the Titans. The medical wing. You consider yourself lucky that you aren't charged for your visits to this place, or you'd be broke by now.

A quick glance around the room tells you that there's one other occupant. One who, thankfully, does not seem to be particularly injured, though you think you see a bruise or two. It could be a trick of the light, but after that last battle, you aren't sure if or how anybody got away unscathed.

That last battle...

You weren't prepared for that. In fairness, there was probably nothing that could have prepared you for such an encounter. Facing off against former friends was difficult enough, but the revelation that one of your opponents was your own sister is something that you frankly don't know how to deal with. Having to be opposed to friends from a past life is bad enough, but your sister, your own blood, that's something worse.

The fact that, like Simon, she tried to convince you to leave the Titans to save yourself, also makes things harder. Clearly, she still cares about you. When you fled, you don't recall her trying to stop you. Then again, there's no telling what happened once you were out.

Maybe your visitor can explain things.

"Like I had the worst family reunion ever," you tell him, sitting up so that you can better converse.

The look of surprise on Robin's face tells you that probably nobody else was aware of your familial relationship with one of the enemies, and that he'll want an explanation.

Sure enough, he asks for you to elaborate.

"What are you talking about?" he questions. "What family?"

You're still somewhat groggy, so it takes a moment to get your thoughts in order. But, as soon as you do, you tell him that Marissa, one of the HIVE agents that you, Cyborg, Raven, and Troia fought (and who also worked in the same team as your old friend Simon) was, in fact, your sister. This shocks him nearly as much as it did you when you first learned about it, and before he can barrage you with further questioning, you decide that there's something you want to ask.

"How long was I out?" you request he tell you.

"Only about three hours," Robin answers, returning to his typical demeanor. "Other than the cuts you got, your only real problem seemed like exhaustion. You seem to be doing alright now."

Well, you still feel kind of tired, but over all, yeah, you feel fine, especially for someone who's been cut with a knife recently. And, judging by the fact that you and Robin are the only two here, your best guess is that the others are all fine as well.

"The others told me a little bit about the fight," Robin informs you, stepping away from the wall and getting a little bit closer. "Apparently it was going South for everybody. Raven was electrocuted, Cyborg's stomach was pierced, and Troia said that her opponent just disappeared and started hitting her when she couldn't see him to fight back. This team, they were good."

>>A. "They were trained to take down the Teen Titans, or at least capture us."

"They were trained to take down the Teen Titans," you tell him. "Or at least capture us."

"Well, it seems like they were trained well," Robin remarks, obviously displeased with that fact. "They were good enough to throw Raven and Troia through a loop, and Cyborg..."

"What happened to Cyborg's stomach?" you ask.

"The guy he was fighting broke through one of its weak points, then started pulling the metal apart," Robin explains to you. "Cyborg's pretty sure the guy's plan was to expose his systems and pick them apart."

That certainly makes you glad that you got him when you did. You're kind of confused about how they knew about Cyborg's weak point, but at this point, you should really stop being surprised by what Blood and his followers are capable of.

"What happened with you and Star?" you ask, changing the subject. "Did you find Chang?"

Robin nods. "We did, but the HIVE FIVE got away with some of his tech. We were going to try and go after them, but then Slade told us what happened, so we let them go to come help you guys."

"Do you know what the HIVE FIVE stole from Chang?" you ask your leader, deciding to ignore the question of Slade for the time being.

"Some blasters, schematics for different types of weapons, and some kind of prototype android," Robin answers, sounding quite frustrated that such a large amount of powerful and dangerous things were taken by the enemy. You can't say that you blame him. "I'm sure Sergeant HIVE has some big plans for them, so we'll see that stuff turn up eventually."

He sighs. "Sorry, I know you just woke up and you've gotta be...well, it's been a rough day for you. I was going to send you out on patrol tonight, but I can cover it for you if you need the rest."

Robin seems a bit surprised by your volunteering to go out despite the day you had, but ultimately seems pleased, giving you an approving smile as you not only volunteer, but make the responsible decision to bring somebody else with you. After some of the questionable choices you've made, he must feel proud of you for doing the smart thing now.

"Sure, that's not a problem," he tells you. "You'll have to ask them if they mind going with you, of course. I was actually going to recommend you bring someone with you, but it looks like you're way ahead of me."

He leans back against the wall. "So, who do you want to go with you?"

"I'll ask for volunteers," you tell Robin, figuring that it's best to bring somebody with you that actually wants to be there.

"Alright, I'll ask the others and see who's in the mood to go out on patrol," Robin tells you, turning toward the door. "You should get something to drink. Hydration is important if you're going to be on patrol, especially after the day you've had so far."

Robin leaves, and you get out of the hospital bed, making sure that you're actually wearing clothes instead of a hospital gown. Neither, actually, you're in your underwear, and your suit is sitting in one of the nearby chairs. You put it on and head for the kitchen, fixing yourself a glass of water.

For once, the living room is empty. Nobody playing video games, cooking, or reading. The television is off, and all is quiet. Not even Silkie seems to be around right now. Still, it seems like a good place to hang tight until Robin finds out who wants to patrol with you.

You have some water, munch on some chips, and just hang out until Robin appears through the doors.

"Hey," he greets you. "So, I asked around. Beast Boy volunteered, but I told him "no" because of his injury. Cyborg, Starfire, and Troia each said they'd go with you. And before you ask, no, you can't bring all three of them."

The last part is said with humor, but you can see how having four members of the team patrolling in one place could make things a little less efficient.

"Who do you want to take?" Robin asks.

"Cyborg," you decide after a moment of thought.

"Alright," Robin replies. "I'll let him know. Meet him down in the garage at around eight tonight."

You nod in understanding, though part of you inwardly groans. You're in for a late night. Patrols are one of the duties entrusted to all members of the team. Each night, one or two Titans go out into the city to keep an eye on things. Obviously, nobody can cover the whole city perfectly, but the presence of Titans out there does a bit to encourage feelings of safety among the civilians, and to deter crime. Most nights on patrol run from eight at night until about two in the morning, when the bars close and most people that are out drinking head home. At that point, the Titan/Titans on patrol usually drive by some of the larger party and drinking areas to make sure nobody's doing anything stupid and dangerous. Then, the patroller/patrollers go home and sleep in the next day.

It's typically more fun with company, and if Cyborg's coming with you, you'll probably be taking the T-Car. Less work for your feet, general comfort, a wide selection of music to listen to, and drive-thru options galore.

It should be a decent night.

You do have some time before you're supposed to meet Cyborg, and it's up to you how you'll spend it.

I kind of want to thank BB, Star, and Troia for volunteering to help, but it doesn't seem like we can visit everybody. And there is the very real possibility something could go wrong on a day where many things already went wrong so resting up sounds good.

Despite the unintended nap you've already taken today, you're still tired, and more sleep sounds very nice. With no other responsibilities to attend to today (assuming that there's no major trouble in the city), you think you should get some rest, especially with the long night ahead of you.

You head to your room, first relaxing your mind through meditation. There's no attempt to uncover any old memories or think of anything in particular, but rather an effort to relax and soothe your psyche. When you realize you're floating over your bed, and that any lingering headaches from before are gone, you know that you've done well.

Meditation is quite nice, but some actual sleep can't be beat. You set your alarm, climb under your blanket, close your eyes, and take a nice nap. When your alarm goes off, you feel more ready to face the night, and quickly ready yourself for patrol.

You make your way to the garage right on schedule, and find Cyborg getting the car ready for a night on the town.

"Hey man," he greets with a grin. "Glad to see you awake."

He looks at his arm, and while you can't see the screen from here, your guess is that he's checking the time.

"We should get going," he says, unlocking the car. "Hop in."

You get into the car, buckle up, and ride out into the city with Cyborg.

Jump City, being as large and populated as it is, pretty much has something going on at all hours of the day. Right about now, some people are out for dinner, or hanging out at arcades, seeing movies, or going to parties. It's an active time with schools out for the day, and many hard-working residents of the city free from work. That means lights, noise, and an ever-present chance of something going wrong.

Cyborg takes the usual route, checking on some of the most popular social areas as well as some of the less-than-reputable parts of the city. It's a big city, so going through the patrol route takes time. Right now, you're in the section of the city where most of the clubs are located, with movie theaters, arcades, and restaurants spread across pretty much every street.

Cyborg has some music playing, Guns n Roses you think, and just seems to be enjoying the chance to cruise around in his car.

He never really complains when he has to go on patrol, and you think he actually just enjoys being out in his prized car. In any case, nothing's happened yet, so you can talk if you want.

"Hey, thanks for volunteering to come patrol with me," you tell your friend.

"No problem, man," he replies, turning down the music a bit. "Not like there's a whole lot going on at the tower anyway. BB can't play video games with one arm, he's worse than usual. Raven's not in the mood to do anything fun, and I don't feel like getting my butt whooped by Starfire or Troia."

Well, when he puts it like that, this seems like the most fun thing he could be doing tonight. It's been a rough day for him, too, so something relatively simple and relaxing like this is probably well appreciated.

That reminds you.

"I heard you had some trouble in that fight," you tell Cyborg, not having to clarify which one. "How would he have known your weak spot?"

Cyborg frowns, turning the music down a bit more. "Don't know if I told you, but a while back, Blood got a hold of my blueprints. We stole them back, but the creep has a photographic memory. He knows all about me, and my guess is he told the guy I fought where some of my weak points were."

He lowers his eye a bit. "I won't underestimate those people again."

Cyborg looks at you. "Speaking of, those were your old teammates, weren't they?"

You nod.

"So, any reason you wanted to fight the girl in particular?" he asks you before turning his full focus back to the road.

There's no reason to lie to Cyborg, none that you can see, at least. Even if you did want to keep it a secret, it's all-but certain that the information would get out eventually. Besides, if Cyborg got hurt because of your decision, you figure that he at least deserves to know why.

"Sorry for being selfish," you begin. "It probably would have made more sense to fight them as a team, but....I wanted to find out who she was."

"Did you?" he asks, sounding more curious than upset by what you've told him.

Alright, he's not angry at you for the decision you made. That's a relief.

"Yeah," you tell him. "Turns out she's my sister."

"Your sister?!" Cyborg shouts, stomping on the breaks and looking at you in disbelief. "Are you serious, man?"

You assure him that yes, you are being perfectly serious. Cyborg still looks shocked, but the honking of angry drivers behind him get him over that, and he resumes driving through the streets.

"So, what are you going to do?" he asks as he continues to drive.

>A. "What do you mean? Her being with the HIVE changes nothing. I'm a Titan, and that's that."

You think about it. You know that you want to help your sister, you want to help all of them, as a matter of fact. But, it's not easy, and if you can't....then what? You're a Titan now, and that's not about to change. But, could you really bring yourself to...fighting them and putting them in prison is one thing. You think you can handle that. But, the way they talk, it doesn't seem like that's the kind of fight you'll have to deal with. It sounds like a battle to the death.

And can you actually kill anyone? And even if you can under the right circumstances, would you be able to do it to your friends? Would you be able to do it to your own family?

Cyborg doesn't repeat the question. In fact, by the look on his face, he's perfectly fine if you don't answer it. He can clearly tell that this isn't easy, and that you might not want to answer. But, the truth is, you do, it's just not an answer that really satisfies you.

"I don't know," you admit to him. "What would you do?"

"Man..." Cyborg breathes. "I don't know what I'd do. I've had to fight people that were my friends before. And let me tell you, that was hard enough. But, I don't know what I'd do if it were family. I'm sorry, I just don't know either. Let's just hope that things work out where you don't have to fight them."

That's a foolish hope, and both of you know it. The two of you sit in silence for a little bit, before Cyborg speaks up again.

"Starfire's had to fight her sister more than once," he tells you. "And Raven's had to fight her father. Jinx has had to fight old friends, and BB knows what it's like to try and pull someone you love out of the dark. If this were just Blood's mind control, that would be something I'd know where to begin with, but none of those guys seemed like they were being forced to do anything. I'm sorry, man, I wish I could help you."

So do you, but you don't blame him for his inexperience in dealing with villainous family.

"What's the story with Starfire and her sister?" you ask.

Cyborg keeps his eyes on the road, but he does give you a proper explanation while he drives.

"I don't remember if we told you this, but Starfire's a princess on her home planet, Tamaran," he explains to you. "Her older sister's name is Blackfire, and from what I've heard, she's been bad news from the start. Everyone loved Starfire, and their little brother, Wildfire, was going to be ruler of Tamaran one day. So, she was jealous."

Okay, you can sort of understand that. Your sister's more popular than you, and your little brother's going to be king. Some resentment in that kind of situation doesn't seem so far-fetched. But, if that's all this was, you doubt that Cyborg would be telling you this story.

"When Starfire and Blackfire got older, their planet was attacked by these ugly lizard aliens called Gordanians," he continues. "That's when Blackfire really showed her true colors. Not only did she help the Gordanians invade Tamaran, but she gave Starfire to them to be a slave."

Aaaand there it is. Blackfire seems like a real piece of work.

"Starfire escaped and wound up on Earth, and Blackfire showed up here not long after," Cyborg goes on. "Starfire was all happy to see her despite what happened, and Blackfire seemed happy to see her, too. She gave Star jewelry and acted real nice to the whole team. But, it turned out that Blackfire was on the run for jewel heists and was trying to frame Star. Star almost got dragged off to prison, but we sorted things out and Blackfire was arrested instead."

Okay, if Blackfire was a...well, a bitch to Starfire before, you're guessing prison time did not do wonders for her attitude toward her sister.

Cyborg turns a corner. "We thought that's be the last we saw of her. But then Starfire got called back to Tamaran to get married."

Okay, what? Then why is she dating Robin?

Cyborg sees your confused look and cracks a smile. "It's a tradition on her homeworld. Marriages are arranged there. We went with her, and found out that the planet was being invaded. We also found out that Blackfire had broken out of prison and taken over Tamaran. She was going to have Starfire marry this gross slimy thing whose name I can't even pronounce, saying it was to make the invasion stop."

That sounds awful, but at the same time, maybe it was just a desperate-

"Then we found out-"

Of course.

"-there was no invasion. Blackfire and that alien made the whole thing up. Blackfire was trading her sister for some kind of power gem. Well, we found out, and Starfire kicked her butt. Blackfire got banished, and we thought that'd be that."

Sheesh, how many times was this chick a problem?

"She came back to Earth after a while, saying she'd turned over a new leaf. She kept challenging Star to these "friendly contests", which turned out to just be a trick so that she could destroy us all."

"Then she came back again with a ship full of Gordanians," Cyborg tells you. "They captured almost every female Titan on Earth. Troia came up with a plan to get us all on the ship, and we beat Blackfire. This time, we put her in an Earth prison. A while after that, Starfire heard that Wildfire had been found. See, when Tamaran got invaded, her parents sent Wildfire away to protect him. Starfire hadn't seen him since, so she was excited."

You give him a look.

"More excited than usual," he clarifies. "We made plans for Wildfire to come stay in the tower for a while."

So where is this going? Oh God, did Blackfire kill her brother?

"Well, Wildfire came," Cyborg tells you, sounding quite angry now. "Only it wasn't him. It was a villain called Madame Rouge that made herself look how he'd look after all these years. She was planning to kill Starfire in her sleep. Guess who put Rouge up to it?"

Oh, man.

"Well, after that, Star ran out of forgiveness," Cyborg tells you, sounding sad. "She disowned Blackfire as her sister."

Can't say you blame her. "And what's the story with Jinx?"

"Jinx was part of the HIVE Academy back before Blood was running it," Cyborg tells you. "She was on a team with Gizmo and Mammoth, and we had some run-ins with them. Blood took over, and we knew he was up to something, but wanted to find out what. I, uh, spent a lot of time with Jinx then, because I was assigned to her team, I mean!"

It might just be the light, but you think he might be blushing.

"Once we took down the academy, Jinx formed the HIVE FIVE, and was in charge of it until we went off to fight the Brotherhood of Evil, and she met Kid Flash," he goes on a little quickly and nervously. "He convinced her she didn't need to be a villain, and she left the HIVE FIVE. Even helped us capture them later."

"Huh, just like that?" you ask, surprised reforming a former villain was so simple.

"Yeah, I'm still not really sure how he pulled it off," Cyborg admits. "But she's one of us, now, and they both seem happy with how things turned out. I wish it was always that easy, then maybe B...hold up, look."

He points toward the sidewalks, where you see a man in a trench-coat beckoning to kids from one of the arcades. That sets off about a million red flags, and Cyborg obviously feels the same, as he pulls over the T-Car and gets out, with you right behind him.

As the two of you cross the Street toward the arcade, you're horrified to see that one of the children, a young boy in a Superman T-shirt, seems to be listening to the man, and approaching the alleyway.

Cyborg breaks into a sprint, only to stop short as a truck blares its horn at him, shooting right past your friend and barely missing turning him into a crushed tin-can.

When the vehicle passes, you can vaguely make out someone moving further into the alleyway, and no sign of the boy on the sidewalk.

"Cyborg, I'm flying after them!" you shout to your friend, focusing and thinking on the sensation of joy.

You lift off the ground and soar toward the alleyway, hearing some gasps and whispers as you fly over the heads of civilians. You swoop right over the alleyway and land safely on the other side. Turning around, you're just in time to see the man dragging the squirming, screaming child right toward you.

The man sees you after just a second, and stops in his tracks. You aren't exactly as famous as most of the other Titans, but in Jump City, wearing a costume like yours leads most people to assume that you're dangerous one way or another. And right now, this creep looks nervous. That could be good for you, or really bad for the kid.

"Look, I don't know who you are," the man says, pulling a switchblade from his coat pocket. "But just stay out of my way."

"Help me, mister!" the boy pleads as he struggles to free himself from the man's grasp.

"Shut up, you little brat," the man demands, holding the blade right by the kid's face. "Now look, weirdo, I'm not sure who you are, but I bet you don't want this sweet little kid to get hurt."

He begins to slowly back into the alleyway. "Now, you just let us go, or I let the kid go to Hell."

Righteous fury is easy to draw on right now. This scum is threatening a defenseless child, planning either to kidnap the poor boy or murder him right here. Either way, you aren't about to let that happen. You stare at the kidnapper, willing him to remain trapped in place and immobilized. When he stops his movement, and shock appears on his face, you know you've got him, and that you won't let him go. Cyborg should be here any moment, and this criminal will be brought down.

"W-what's going on?!" the man shouts in fear, face showing strain as he attempts to move even a single muscle. "What are you doing to me, you freak?!"

You don't answer, just remaining focused on making sure that he doesn't go anywhere. Soon, you see Cyborg's unmistakable figure appear behind the struggling scumbag, and grab the switchblade with his metal hand, ripping it from the man's grasp.

"Let him go," Cyborg instructs, and you do just that, just as Cyborg grabs the arm holding onto the kid and squeezes.

The man screams and releases his grip, trying to pull his arm back as the kid scurries free. At that moment, Cyborg punches the guy in the face, knocking him out with that single strike. The sound of people clapping causes you to look away, and you see that a small crowd has gathered, witnessing what you and Cyborg just did.

"Wow, you're Cyborg!" the kid shouts, looking up at your friend with an excited grin.

"That's right," Cyborg replies with a smile. "You okay, kid?"

"Uh-huh!" the boy says with a quick nod, clearly starstruck.

Then, he looks to you. "And who are you, mister?"

"Kid Crimson," you answer, not sure if you should feel kind of bad that the kid doesn't know who you are, or glad that he wants to know.

"Are you a Teen Titan too?" he asks, looking more excited.

You smile. "That's right."

"Wow!" the boy shouts, spinning around to look at Cyborg, then back at you. "You guys were so cool!"

Cyborg chuckles. "Well, I guess we were. But really, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine!" the kid declares, either too excited or too young to really understand the situation he was just in.

"Do you need some help getting back to your parents?" Cyborg asks.

The kid shakes his head. "No, that's okay. They're not far."

Just as the boy said, his parents were not far, so it only takes a few minutes for you and Cyborg to escort him to them. He runs to his parents, excitedly telling them how Cyborg and yourself saved him. They, understanding the situation better than the young child, thank both you and Cyborg profusely for saving their son. A few more "thank you"s later, you and Cyborg return to the T-Car, resuming your patrol around the city.

Aside from a few kids playing around in somewhat unsafe places, you don't see anything of note for the next several hours. Well, there was that one girl that flashed the car for some reason, and another girl whose dog nearly pulled her into the road, but you didn't need to intervene in either case.

Now, at about eleven PM, you and Cyborg are pulled off to the side of the road, chowing down on some tasty chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. The sandwiches are great, but the waffle fries...well, they're very good, but you get so few of them in an order. It's kind of frustrating. Still, the food is nice and fresh, and really hits the spot.

"Okay, we're just past the halfway point," Cyborg points out as the two of you finish up your food. "Let's get back out there and see what's going on."

There's less traffic now, and less children, though there are still plenty of teens and adults out and about, enjoying late-night movies, clubs, bars, and so on. As Cyborg navigates the area, you keep your eyes peeled for anything suspicious. Nothing catches your eye right away.

Things are quiet and calm for the moment, so you figure it's fine if you ask Cyborg another question. And, you've kind of been wondering about this for a lot of the day.

"So, what happened after I passed out earlier?" you ask your friend as the two of you turn a corner.

"We kept moving back toward the tower," Cyborg answers, keeping his eyes on the road. "We contacted Robin and Starfire to let them know what was going on, but those four were right on our tail. We thought we'd have to fight and protect you at the same time until Robin and Star showed up, but Slade got there first. He held Blood's people off while we took you back to the tower."

Slade saved you? Okay, that's surprising.

"Robin and Star got back soon after that, and you woke up a few hours later," Cyborg continues. "Not sure what happened to Slade, or the people he was fighting."

You're glad Slade showed up, but you really do hope that he didn't end up seriously hurting anybody. You haven't entirely given up on them, after all.

Looking out the window, you see things still pretty normal, though you do notice that a man's approaching another man, and that they both walk into an alley after taking a quick look around.

You decide to point it out to Cyborg, gesturing toward the alley and explaining what you just saw. It might be something innocent, but it might still be worth investigating. It's not like the two of you have anything pressing to deal with right now, anyway.

"Should we check it out?" you ask him.

"Can't hurt," your friend answers, pulling the T-Car over.

The two of you climb out and walk toward the alleyway. It's plenty dark out now, and there's no real light source to provide visibility in there. So, Cyborg provides it. One of his shoulders opens up, and a flashlight emerges from it, shining into the alley and revealing the two men you'd seen just a few moments ago.

One's holding out some money, the other's holding a plastic bag with some white stuff in it. They both look toward the light, then turn and start running.

"Freeze!" Cyborg shouts, giving chase.

The dealer seems like the best target to go after. Stopping him may mean less drugs spreading around, and perhaps a chance to find out where other dealers operate. The buyer isn't innocent, but there's less harm in letting him go than the dealer.

Cyborg continues on foot, while you teleport ahead, materializing in front of the dealer, who stops in his tracks and looks at you wide-eyed. He quickly reaches toward his waist, and that's when you see a holster with a hand-gun resting in it.

"S-stay back, man!" he stammers fearfully as he reaches for his gun.

>>
>>2313374
Before he has the chance to draw his weapon, you decide to take him down. There's no hostage to worry about this time, and if you can handle this guy, Cyborg should be able to run down the buyer no problem. With righteous fury in your heart, you throw a punch with your mind, striking the man in the face and throwing him onto his back.

He lies in the alleyway, groaning in pain, seeming dazed and disoriented. You aren't sure if he's giving up, so you get yourself ready just in case he tries something. Slowly, you approach him, and he seems to recover his senses enough to look afraid as he sees you coming.

"K-keep away!" he tells you, scurrying back on all fours in a sort of backwards crab walk. "I'm warning you, don't come any closer!"

Another Psychic Punch, this one to his gut, and he's rolling around on the ground, clutching his stomach and groaning. While he's distracted this time, you confiscate his gun.

Cyborg reappears a moment later with the intended customer, and uses his communicator to call the police.

That reminds you, wasn't your communicator...oh, man. You hope Robin has some replacements.

The police show up soon after, and take the men into custody, along with the narcotics that the dealer was trying to sell. You and Cyborg return to the T-Car.

"Well, there doesn't seem to be much major trouble going on," Cyborg tells you as you cruise through the city. "Mostly normal, police-level stuff. I'm glad we were there to help that kid earlier, though."

"Same," you tell him. "I'm happy with just normal stuff going on, though."

It's certainly easier to deal with common criminals than it is stone monsters, giant moths, spider-headed saboteurs, egotistical warriors with godly artifacts, and super-trained friends and family. Dealing with a drug dealer or kidnapper is something that someone with your powers can handle no problem. Dealing with other things is...well, difficult.

"I know what you mean," Cyborg tells you. "It's not a problem dealing with this kind of stuff. Coming out on patrol like this is pretty relaxing."

Yeah, all things considered, this busy city is less hectic than the tower often is. And just going out and enjoying the less-than-fresh city air is an enjoyable thing.

"Hey, do you think Robin can give me a new communicator?" you ask.

"That shouldn't be a problem," Cyborg answers. "We might want to ask him tomorrow, though."

The rest of the night passes without incident, and around two in the morning, Cyborg drives the two of you home. By now, you're exhausted and head straight to bed, passing out as soon as your head hits the pillow.

You're woken up far too soon by the sound of somebody knocking on your door. Rolling over, you check the clock on your bedside table, seeing that it's about nine thirty. Sighing, you pick yourself up out of bed, and go to the door, opening it to find Robin on the other side.

"Good morning," he greets. "Sorry to wake you up, but I thought you might want to know that Rose stopped by to do some training. You know, in case you wanted to spar with her or something."

As your sleepy eyes clear up, you see that Robin seems to have gotten a few bruises. It looks like he's already had a match or two with the visiting girl. Maybe he's hoping you can take his place as her punching bag for a while.

"Oh, awesome," you tell him, getting ready to run straight to the training room.

Then, you remember something kind of important.

"Also, I need a new communicator," you tell him. "Mine got smashed during yesterday's fight."

Robin doesn't look happy to hear that, but doesn't make a big deal about it. "Alright, I'll get you a new one. You should have it later today."

With that taken care of, you rush to the training room, hearing the sounds of fighting long before you arrive. When you finally get into the room, you see that Rose and Donna are in the middle of a sparring match.

Each of them is armed with a metal staff, and using the weapons with obvious skill. You didn't know Donna was trained with staves, but you guess a warrior society would have taught her.

The two of them clash weapons over and over, with Troia slowly pushing Ravager back. You suspect that Donna's using her super strength to give herself an edge, but that doesn't seem to work for very long. Rose ducks under a swing of Donna's staff and counterattacks, catching the amazon in the chin with a swing of her staff. She then tries to swing down and hit Donna again, but the dark-haired girl holds up an arm, and the staff clatters off one of those silver bracers.

Donna drops and does a leg-sweep, knocking Rose to the ground, then stabs strikes down with her staff, only for Rose to roll out of the way and get back up. The two of them resume their fighting, but before long, Rose's staff breaks. Donna uses her still intact staff to sweep Rose off her feet, then quickly strikes. Somehow, though, Rose shifts so that the staff misses, and that she's able to grab hold of it, tugging Troia down, bracing her feet against the dark-haired girl's stomach, and throwing Donna over her head.

Donna lands on her back, and Rose gets back up, picking up the broken pieces of her staff and approaching her downed opponent. Donna gets back up and attacks, but Rose seems to be fighting faster now, perfectly blocking each attack that Troia makes. Then, Rose lands a hit to Donna's jaw, and a kick to her inner thy that causes the amazon's leg to buckle, letting her land a strike to the side of Donna's face.

Donna falls to the ground, staff falling from her hand as she clutches her cheek, looking like that last strike really hurt. Kind of impressive given her super durability.

That's when you notice that Rose has this...well, kind of savage look on her face, looking like a mad animal that wants to tear something apart. But, as she looks down at Donna, that look disappears, replaced by one of guilt and worry.

"Oh, oh no.." she gasps, kneeling down in front of Donna. "I'm so sorry, I just..."

"Don't be," Troia tells her, standing back up. "You fought well. Not many can defeat be in a duel."

Rose seems confused by this response as she stands back up. "You're okay, then? And you're not mad?"

"I've had worse, don't worry," Troia assures her. "But, it seems like you have a temper to work on."

Rose looks down. "Yeah, you might say that."

"I'm alright," you tell her. "Are you okay?"

Her face reddens a bit, maybe embarrassment from that little outburst she just had in her fight with Donna. She looks down before answering you.

"I'm-I'm okay," she tells you, not really sounding that okay.

Donna turns to you, offering a friendly smile. "What brings you here?"

"I was wondering if Rose had time to spar with me," you answer, then add. "And....maybe give me some pointers."

Donna smiles, looking to Rose. "Well, she's an impressive fighter. I'm sure that she has plenty to teach you if she's willing."

Rose looks up, giving you a challenging smile. "If you think you can keep up, then sure. Let's spar."

She throws the broken pieces of her staff to the side, and Donna clears out of the sparring ring, deciding to stick around and watch from the sidelines as you pit yourself against someone that's clearly several magnitudes greater than you at combat.

Rose cracks her knuckles, then her neck, maintaining a relaxed position that seems to have no guard to it. She doesn't look concerned by that at all, and given what you've seen, there's good reason for that.

"Whenever you're ready," she tells you. "Show me what you've got."

It's time to get a feel for how much you've improved. You run in there and start fighting at close range, striking at Rose with both physical and psychic attacks. Since you last sparred with her, you know that your strength and speed have improved, and so has your ability to take a hit. You aren't sure if Sam was better at it (though judging by how the others of your old team fight, you would guess the answer to be yes), but Pete has definitely gotten much better over time.

Rose is made to take a step or two back, though none of the punches, kicks, chops, leg sweeps, or any other physical attacks you throw are able to land. She blocks, parries, or dodges all of them, though you do note the occasional strike that comes very close to hitting its mark.

The psychic attacks, on the other hand, are more difficult for Rose to do anything about, and you manage to slug her in the face with a sudden psychic punch, and then in the stomach with another. The girl takes it like a champ, though, and when you try to follow up with a physical punch, she grabs hold of your wrist, stopping you from hitting her.

"You pack a stronger punch than before," she compliments before judo throwing you over her shoulder. "I hope you learned to take bunches better, too."

You land on your back, but quickly get back up, moving just in time to block a kick that Rose throws your way. You grab for her ankle, but she pulls her leg back too fast, and comes back in with a flurry of punches. You fend them off as best as you can, and use barriers to block the punches that your body can't. But you saw Rose fighting faster and harder against Donna, and sure enough, she slowly picks up speed, making her attacks harder and harder to stop. And, soon after that, the attacks begin breaking through your defenses, and you find yourself being struck again and again by your opponent.

>A. Attack back! Punch! Kick! Answer her blows with your own.

>B. Create the strongest barrier you can muster between yourself and her

>C. Counter, but entirely with Psychic Punches. Throw as many as you can. She won't be able to defend against a Psychic Onslaught, and you can force her back

Time to mix things up a little. This strategy is clearly not working, but there's still a power or two that you haven't pulled out just yet. And this seems like the best time to try, because otherwise she's going to just pummel you into a pulp.

Once you get a moment where she isn't hitting you, you're able to teleport, moving behind her in the blink of an eye and kicking her behind the knee, making her leg buckle. Before you can even pull your leg back from the kick, her upper body falls forward, and her legs trap the leg you just used to hit her. Moving her legs to the side then spreading them apart, she knocks you to the ground, where you land in a rather painful split.

She does a handspring to get back to her feet, looking down at you as you try to correct yourself from this disorienting and uncomfortable pose.

"Nice try, but kind of obvious," she tells you. "Got any more tricks to try, or are you going to admit defeat?"

>A. "I surrender."

>>

You're not planning on giving up just yet, but if she continues to dominate you like this, you won't have a choice for very much longer. You've improved, even she's said so, but she's a master fighter, on part with the likes of Robin and Troia. In physical combat, you aren't going to win, and even your powers don't seem to be doing much to even the odds. She can take your punches, break past your barriers, and counter any sneak-attacks you make. You need something new, something less "predictable".

And you think you might know just the thing.

"I might have another trick or two," you tell her with a wry smile.

She goes to throw a kick at your face, only to look genuinely shocked as you slide across the floor, backing up and getting away from her kick without any trouble. It's hard not to laugh at her flabbergasted look as you get back to your feet, but you remain focused, and hit her in the face with a Psychic Punch while she's distracted.

You knock her right off her feet, and she goes down for a change. Of course, she doesn't stay that way for long, recovering quickly and getting back up, her expression no longer flabbergasted or amused, but serious. Now you've shown her something that's genuinely impressed her, and she's going to start taking you more seriously.

She comes running, then drops forward into a roll, springing off her hands and launching herself up at you. She kicks with both legs, aiming right at your chest. It should be a direct hit, but your upper body drops toward the floor, stopping just before it would have hit the ground.

Rose flies right over you.

You rise back up, stiff as a board, and spin without moving a muscle, watching as the girl rights herself mid-air and lands in a crouch. She's been surprised again, but that's not going to make her let her guard down.

You throw another Psychic Punch, which hits, but it seems like she's braced herself this time, and it has a much lesser effect when compared to last time. She comes running again, this time leaping and throwing a spin-kick at your head. You slide back, and she starts chasing you the second you land, this time dropping to the ground and sliding toward your legs.

You let your upper body fall forward, and your lower body lift in the air, floating above ground in a stiff position and letting Rose slide right under you. But, this time, she has an idea of her own, and reaches up to grab hold of your ankles, yelling as she throws you over her head and slams you onto the floor on your back.

She does not let go of your ankles.

>A. Psychic Punch her off of you, then resume your flight dodging and psychic attacks

>B. Try to wriggle free

>C. Teleport into the air, then change your position so she's left dangling

>D. Slide back across the floor and drag her with you

>E. Create a barrier over all parts of your body that she's not touching; limit the damage she can do

Also as we refine this technique, we can feint normal movement, and slide in an unrelated direction, or integrate the two for even greater mobility.

>>2314052

Except I think Pete should teleport into the air then start rotating. If he tries to simply fly up from where he is, I think Rose may not let him even get off the ground.
>>

>>2314062
You do have a point
>>
>>2314065
So, are you supporting teleporting, then?
>>
>>2314062
Fair. Adding a teleport first.

Also, as a note, KC is definitely a novice with this technique. When he evaded her double spring kick, he got back up instead of continuing to rotate backwards to face her, just upside down. Once you realize that squaring off with someone is completely unnecessary, you can do a lot of other silly things, like presenting no target to your opponent but the soles of your feet, or always having the high ground, not through actual altitude, but from subjective positioning.

Incidentally, we'd be giving Cassandra Cain a conniption right now.
>>
>>2314074
Yeah, poor girl can't predict movement if she can't see your body move, can she?
>>
>>2314073
Yep Should've clarified.
>>
>>2314074
There's a ton that changes when you really think about it. For instance, if he wants to punch someone he doesn't need to rotate his hips or properly position his legs.
Hell, he can telegraph a straight and do a no-lead-up rotation turning it into an elbow to the face.
Everything stops making (human) sense when you're thinking in 3 dimensions.
>>
>>2314083
Rose calls in Cassandra Cain, Lady Shiva, and some other martial artists to just kind check out the kid with the weird ass moves. Titans Tower inconveniently becomes a warrior's pilgrimage. Its not that top tier marital artists can't beat Kid Crimson, its that they're panicking over how they would fight someone who fights like that and is actually GOOD.

>>2314087
And that's why, in a team of a Telepath with super senses, a shapeshifting space godzilla, a sorceress, and child actress Iron Man, Sylph, the woman who can fly and knows kung fu, is considered the most dangerous in a fight (or paperwork situation, but that's unrelated).
>>

>child actress iron man

>>
>>2314062
>>2314063
You can't get away from her by sliding on the ground now. She's got a strong grip, and you feel like trying to fly away would just result in her banging you against the ground again. That does not sound pleasant. You have to find a way to make her let go.

And you think you might have another idea.

In an instant, you teleport into the air, shifting your body so that you're upright, and she's dangling from your ankles. Once again, she's disoriented, though you don't doubt that if you give her time, she'll find a way to counter this. So, you don't give her that time. You start rotating, getting faster and faster until you're spinning like a top, and Rose is quickly losing her grip.

She can't hold on, and drops to the ground, landing in a crouch, but then immediately falling over from dizziness. You aren't feeling so great yourself right now. Beyond dizziness, your head's starting to hurt. Your tricks have paid off, but they're slowly starting to take a toll. It's not like you're going to drop at any second, but dragging this out is not going to work in your favor, judging by how Rose isn't even breathing particularly heavy.

She's back on her feet in no time, and clearly ready for more. You're really glad you aren't this girl's enemy, and also wondering what her father's like if she's this tough.

Then, you notice something that makes you nervous. That look you saw when she was fighting Troia, it's starting to come back. It's not as intense, but you still don't like it.

>A. Land and suggest calling it a draw

There are still some ways you'd like to experiment with and test your powers, but that look Rose is giving you tells you that it would probably be a mistake to do that right now. You don't want to push your luck with someone as tough as her.

Slowly, cautiously, you descend, planting your feet firmly on the ground, and holding up your hands in an act of nonaggression.

"I give up," you tell her.

The look that had you so worried begins to melt away, replaced temporarily with suspicion for some reason, but that soon gives way to a smile.

"You fought well," she compliments. "Really, I wasn't expecting that kind of improvement. You've clearly been working hard."

"That was quite the interesting fighting style," Donna remarks, sounding both impressed and amused. "I've never encountered one quite like that before."

"Neither have I," Rose agrees, glancing at the other girl. "Which is why I had some trouble adapting to it."

"You seemed to be getting the hang of it," Donna tells her, and you aren't sure if she's intentionally making a pun there.

Rose gives a chuckle. "Yeah, I was."

She looks back at you. "Sorry, Pete, but if we'd kept going, I would have beaten you. You're good, really. Any normal fighter wouldn't stand a chance if you were on top of your game like you were just now. But if you want to be able to take someone like me, or, say, Robin, or even Troia, you have a long way to go?"

"What do you mean "even Troia"?" Donna asks her. "Is there something you want to say?"

Rose just smirks. "Anyway, Peter, you said you wanted some pointers, right? Here's what I noticed during your fight. You're creative in your approach; things like mixing your powers with martial arts, or those weird flight tricks you had, those are clever. Against most enemies, strategies like those will give you an edge. But, your problem is that you tend to repeat yourself, and only get creative in response to your normal approach failing. You don't predict or read your enemy, you react to them. And, in a sparring match like this, you can afford to do that, but in a real, life or death fight, there's no promise that you'll get that chance."

Donna seems to agree with this, nodding at most of what Rose is saying.

"Like I said, you've got work to do if you want to be able to beat people like like me, Robin, or Donna in a straight up fight," she tells you. "But, you have promise. You've shown great improvement, and an ability to adapt and create your approaches. Keep at it."

As for addressing the weaknesses she's pointed out, only some of them can be remedied by our choice-making in combat. Predicting and reading is narrative information in the hands of MoG so to work on those, it might be best to level grind against Robin and Donna. Maybe without powers sometimes, to focus on the fundamentals.

Other avenues of improvement for us:
-Work on our stamina issues. Teleportation in particular is a big drain on us. We can lean on flight, but that doesn't solve the problem. Maybe we could try doing rapid teleports before bed as a way of getting accustomed to them.

-Work on our power. Righteous Fury is a power boost over Memory of Rage, and it doesn't have any risks, but we could practice it and maybe get some more power out of it. We should test our Hold on Donna or Starfire to see what our power limit is. Likewise, our barriers get shattered pretty frequently. My understanding is that while we worked on them previously, it was still under the old paradigm of memory-based fear. If we can find a healthy way to channel fear we might be able to improve it. Courage maybe? Courage is, after all, not the absence of fear, but the confrontation of it. Practice might let us use fear without hurting our performance.

-Experiment, iterate and refine. Flight tricks worked, but they could be improved through practice, particularly by learning to fight in nonstandard orientations and by using physical movements as feints and supplements instead of just remaining rigid. We should see if we can move or act while using Hold, and we should look into using Barriers at a distance, or performing an effect on multiple targets simultaneously.

-Unlock new powers. There's a risk of Blood messing with us if we unlock them too fast, but its been a while since we got flight, and so I think we'd probably safe if we did. That said, I'm not actually in a rush to do this one. We have a pretty good suite right now, and plenty of work to do to fully master what we have. My opinion is, if we unlock one by accident while going about our lives, fine, but no need to seek them out until we're really solid on the rest.

We could take a few more riskier moves, depending on the opponent's powers.

But with someone like Rose it's a bit hard, since we'd need to just come up with clever ways to act and switch tactics (in one singular choice) while keeping in mind that she doesn't have any particular tendencies or weaknesses.

That we know of, so far.
>>
>>2314248
>-Experiment, iterate and refine
Pete's anger power can punch, push, and now hold things in place. I've been wondering if he can lift/levitate things with it. After Marissa started showing off her knives, I also started wondering if Pete can develop some sort of Psychic Slash or Stab, but I dunno how much use he'll get out of it since he's not gonna be eager to start killing and maiming people. Maybe if Kardiak shows up again he could cut some of those tentacles.
>>
>>2314266
That's why I advocate level grinding with Robin and Donna, specifically to develop our prediction and reading. If MoG allows it, then after doing so we could expect more information in posts for us to base decisions on.

The ultimate goal is that once we're good enough, we're fighting on auto, already predicting and acting accordingly. The tactical minutia of fights would get pushed to the background, leaving us to to focus on the sort of creative plays that alter the flow of the fight (which is very true to comics, after all).

I agree, against most enemies, we can play it fast and loose and still come out on top, but against the big threats (our former team mates, Blood, Slade, after he inevitably betrays us) we need to be absolutely rock solid. What I was laying out is how we might build that foundation.
>>
>>2314286
>Slade, after he inevitably betrays us

Now now, Slade won't betray you unless it benefits him to do so.
>>
>>2314284
It'd be useful to know if we could cut or stab, even if it would be more a matter of utility, or for specific enemy match ups. As for full TK, my suspicion is that is going to require a different emotion. If we're tapping the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum, it will probably be under Will. We might be able to fake it to a degree with Fury though.

Hoping we might get some Healing powers though. Maybe via Love or Compassion?

Compassion would be the perfect source for Empathy powers though.

>>2314288

So, inevitably, as I said.

>My question for you all tonight is if you're happy with the fifteen minute voting period, or want it shortened to say, ten.
My preference would be to to keep 15 minutes because I've already come close to missing voting windows due to being unable to stop fiddling with my posts. I'll adjust to whatever you want to do though.

Psychic slash/stab could be useful for more than just killing. Cutting rope, stabbing a tire, etc.

Honestly I kind of want Pete to try abd focus on mental powers for a bit. Maybe see if he can reach out with his mind while in combat. Battle meditation?
Experiment with telepathy?

Hell if he could mind link all the titans to communicate that'd be one helluva boon, even if most of the time they manage with talking and non-verbal comm.

So much to explore. Plus he still needs to find ways to face Blood and his minions, and I figure if we throw everything and the kitchen sink, something will stick.
>>
>>2314286
It might be good to go against an experienced hero sometime, then. Even if the titans help a lot, they're mostly apprentices, not really teachers, if you get me?
>>
>>2314288
Is Slade a randian objectivist?
>>
>>2314302
Sure. I think there's still plenty we can learn from the Titans, but for the 'fight of your life' experience, can't go wrong with one of the classics. Ideally someone who has both powers and advanced fighting prowess. Black Canary for example.

...You know who would be an interesting mentor? Secret Six Bane.

Nah, just a mercenary. No need to justify selfishness with a framework that glorifies it.
>>

Fortunately, Beast Boy and Cyborg aren't having a cookoff, and Starfire isn't preparing any sort of traditional dishes from her home-world to serve to everyone. Raven's already had her morning coffee, and Robin probably ate before the sun was even up. The kitchen is free for you and the girls to use.

The three of you decide to make some breakfast together, until you discover that neither one of them really knows how to cook (Troia didn't have things like bacon and scrambled eggs on her island, and Ravager was just never taught). You ask them to set the table and get everyone some drinks while you make breakfast. That much, of course, they can do, and are soon sitting and chatting while they wait for you to finish making food for the three of you.

>>A. "Okay, Donna I get, but Rose? You really never learned to cook?"

"Rose, what brings you back to the tower?" you ask as you continue the relatively simple task of preparing enough scrambled eggs and bacon for everybody.

"I try to visit when I can," Rose answers, looking up toward you. "You guys make great sparring partners, and honestly are about the only actual friends I have."

She sounds just a bit...well, not quite bitter, but definitely unhappy about that. If you lived on your own with only a small number of friends that you only saw on occasion, you suppose that you'd feel similar to her. It must get lonely.

"So, what are you two planning to do today?" you ask, hoping to change the subject, and honestly curious about what Rose does for fun.

"Training, mostly," Rose answers. "Then I'm going to see if Raven can give me some meditation tips. That sort of thing works wonders for your mind in battle."

All work and no play, huh?

"I'll probably do some more training myself," Donna tells you. "Then I'll probably take a flight around the city, and Beast Boy was talking about some movie that he wants to show me, so I'll probably watch it with him this evening."

Okay, at least Donna's mixing things up a bit.

The food is ready soon, and you bring everyone's plates to the table. Each of the girls thank you, then begin eating. You take your seat, and find a glass of orange juice waiting for you.

Breakfast sure feels nice after the kind of morning you've had. Fighting somebody like Rose works up an appetite.

"Anything exciting happening around here?" Rose asks after eating a piece of bacon.

>A. "The HIVE's still causing some problems, but your dad is helping us with them."

All work and no play makes Rose a dull girl.

The Slade thing... possibly should be Robin to talk about that. We still don't have a lot of intimacy with her to just casually talk about her evil dad.
>>

"Fighting crime, training, having the occasional contest, the usual," you tell her.

It seems kind of strange to have crime fighting and combat training be your usual schedule, but after the past few months, you've really gotten used to it. Training, trouble in the city, patrols at night, taking breaks for fun competitions with your friends, it's become a routine for you, and you're honestly pretty happy with it, aside from certain aspects of your relationships with certain adversaries.

But, that's something for another day.

"I guess that things do get exciting around here," Rose remarks, looking to the window. "Though, from what I hear, nobody major's been causing much trouble lately. Well, aside from whatever the HIVE's planning, and they aren't exactly overt about their activities. Other than that, it's mostly just been gangs. They've been getting a little more bold with less super criminals running around."

More gangsters, you should be able to handle. You think you'd gladly trade that for less super criminals.

But, again, Rose has changed the topic to business. Doesn't she ever have any fun?

"Why don't you stick around a little longer?" you ask the girl. "Do something than training."

Rose looks surprised, but also curious. "Like what?"

"We could take a trip to the arcade," you suggest. "Though, nobody beats me at the shooting game."

You say the last part with a bit of playful challenge in your tone, figuring that girls like Donna and Rose would probably respond to a chance for competition. In Donna's case, you've seen that she can be competitive, so you figure she's a sure thing. And Rose....

There's that look. You've appealed to her sense of competition.

"Alright, tonight, the arcade," Rose agrees. "And I will beat you in the shooting game."

"I'll beat both of you," Donna declares as she stands up. "None can outperform the amazons!"

"Except me," Rose mutters with a smirk.

Donna puts her in a headlock, grinning. "Next time I won't go so easy on you."

You're like, fifty percent sure that those two are about to go back to the training room for some more sparring. But, at least tonight, you know that they'll be joining you at the arcade.

Pete probably needs to turn his brain off for a bit. He went pretty hard in sparring and there's always the chance for a crisis.
>>
>>2316602
>>E. Go see if Beast Boy wants to watch a movie
>>
>>2316631
A crisis? In Jump City? Anon, please, you're being paranoid. What could actually happen?
>>
>>2316650
The imminent crisis is if Rose turns out not to be any good at games and someone teases her.
>>
>>2316631
You've gotten plenty of exercise today thanks to Rose, and you don't want to stress your mind too much so early in the day, when there's still plenty of time for a crisis to hit. Something relaxing should do, and you have a friend in the tower that's probably bored out of his mind right now. Beast Boy's arm is healing, thanks to Raven's magic, but it's still not all better, and your friend is still confined in the tower until further notice.

Well, technically he's free to come and go as he pleases, but with one of his arms not functioning, his options are limited, and he's still forbidden from joining in fights. So, yeah, he's got to be pretty bored.

Maybe he'll want to watch a movie.

You finish breakfast, tell the girls that you'll see them later, and go to look for Beast Boy, his room obviously being the first place that you check. When you knock on the door, you hear him moving in there, so your first guess was right. The door slides open, and you see your friend's face.

"Hey dude," he greets with less cheer than normal. "What's up?"

"I wanted to see if you want to watch a movie," you tell him.

That seems to brighten his mood a bit. "Sure, I'll grab some movies and meet you in the living room!"

The door slides shut, and you return to the living room, making sure that the television is free, and the couch isn't too messy to make use of. Once these vital tasks have been accomplished, you take a seat, make yourself comfortable, and wait.

Beast Boy shows up a few minutes later with three films to choose from.

It Came Back From Jones Lake; a sequel to the popular horror film "It Came From Jones Lake."

Samurai Cyborgs; an action flick about mechanically altered warriors battling for some sort of piece of technology

Dinosaurs vs Aliens; exactly what the title implies.

This sounds like the best choice. Horror sequels are never good and "Dinosaurs vs Aliens" sounds like its on the level of a SyFy original movie. And yes, I did spend longer thinking about this vote than I do when Peter is in combat.
>>
>>2316698
>>C. "Dinosaurs vs Aliens."
>>
>>2316705
"Samurai Cyborgs," you decide after only a moment of thought.

"Alright," Beast Boy says, putting the movie in and taking a seat on the sofa. "Haven't given this one a watch in a while."

It's sort of a strange movie. Apparently, scattered throughout the world are Samurai clans that augment their soldiers with cybernetic components, meant to make them faster, stronger, and smarter. The leaders of each clan are hundreds of years old, having sued some unknown technology to extend their lifespans. Centuries ago, the chiefs were a single clan that defeated many powerful foes, but split up when a quest for a particular, legendary piece of technology lead to one among them being murdered. Each person blamed someone else, and they split up, forming their own clans in their search for this piece of technology.

A weird premise, but it's entertaining for what it is, with strong acting and some really enjoyable fight scenes as clans and chieftains encounter one-another in the search and do battle for the treasure they all want.

By the time the film's almost over, only two chieftains remain, with one beating the other to the technological treasure; nano-machines that can repair even the most extreme damage to the body. The other chieftain slices off limbs, fingers, and even stabs the machine's owner through the heart, but the damage is just repaired.

It all comes to an end with the second chieftain tackling the one with nano-machines into a volcano, completely incinerating both of them, and the nano-machines they'd fought and killed for.

Beast Boy seems riveted throughout the entire thing, and you have to admit, for as ridiculous as the concept is, it's very entertaining.

"Thanks for watching this with me, dude," Beast Boy says to you. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to make a tofu burger."

He hops off the couch and heads for the kitchen.

A
>>
>>2316955
This time, you decide to focus on combat. Something relatively simple and fresh in your mind following your match with Rose. All other thoughts slowly ebbing away and leaving that singular subject present, the total and pure focus of your mind.

Rose had told you that your creativity and adaptability are something positive, and that they make you a dangerous foe to even more experienced fighters. However, she says that your approach is too reactive; you only change your methods when repeating the same thing doesn't work, or in direct response to the actions of your opponent. Making changes based on an evolving situation is hardly a bad thing, but as Rose pointed out, you may not be given the opportunity to make those reactive changes in a real life-or-death struggle.

So, what can you do? Predicting your opponent seems a reasonable way of doing things, but at the same time, you know that it's easier said than done. If you've never fought or seen a certain person fight before, you will have nothing to go on in terms of predicting them. And, a foe you've fought before might change their style for the very reason of trying to remain unpredictable.

What options does that leave you?

Predictability can still work, but until you have more experience in fighting (or remember your repressed past experiences) you won't be exactly able to predict three steps ahead of your foe. Still, paying attention to movement and body language can give you some insight into what your opponent's about to try. It's worth considering.

Today, you gave Rose trouble with an unorthodox approach, using your powers in a way that neither she, nor the amazon warrior watching the match had previously experienced. Rose adapted, sure, but that took her some time, and even then she was having difficulty. She applauded your creativity as well.

Creative strategies like that could come in serious handy in the future. Even experienced and skilled fighters can be thrown off by something strange. You've made creative use of your powers before, after all. Combining your psychic abilities with martial arts usually catches your enemies off-guard in the beginning. Like Rose said, a normal foe wouldn't stand a chance against you if you took a serious approach.

But, people like her, or Robin, or your sister, who can outperform you in hand-to-hand combat and endure your psychic attacks long enough to strike you have a good chance of defeating you with such an approach.

The more you think about it, the more it seems you simply need to judge the strengths of your foe, and find a way around them. Still, easier said than done, but something to work on.

>A. Stop meditating

>B. Shift focus to something else (specify)

>C. Let these thoughts flow away. Let all thoughts and memories flow in front of you, then select one.

More or less, you need to fight more people to better learn to recognize patterns and tells during fighting. Being super-powered, this can be tricky, as most normal people can't keep up with you, and more experienced fighters can have vastly different styles. So it can take time

You've gained some insight on how to improve your combat ability. Now, it's time to let those serious thoughts go, and let your mind relax. You allow everything to flow from your conscious thoughts, letting mind and body take something of a break, almost like sleep, but not quite.

Much like breathing exercises, this sort of meditation is great for your psyche, and you feel confident that you will have control over your powers, provided that you don't push yourself beyond your capability of handling.

Soon, the relaxation comes to an end, and you decide what to do next.

Man, I think if Starfire was an option, nearly all of you anons would go for it.
>>
>>2317279
Probably! You capably portray the things that make her appealing.

>>D. Find Robin

Speaking of, which, that poll you put up several threads ago did end up with Raven eventually taking the top spot, but Star was solidly in second, everyone else was way down the list.
>>
>>2317279
Probably. She's a good girl. Personally I'm tending toward either of the Battle Babes.

But I really think we should give this topic some time before really jumping into it. Maybe.
>>
>>2317319
How would Slade feel about Rose and Pete?
>>
>>2317279
I honestly think anons have been good about spreading the love around to all the other Titans. Mostly just need to figure out a way to spend more time with Raven and Robin that's not asking them for help or mission related.
>>
>>2317330
My guess is privately pleased. Each becomes more powerful leverage to be used against the other.
>>
>>2317212
Stepping out of your room for the second time today, you think about what to do, and who to do it with. Rose and Donna are probably either training, or Rose is meditating and Donna is out flying, or watching a movie with Beast Boy. Beast Boy is either watching a movie or hanging out in his room, Cyborg could be doing any one of a dozen things right now (the guy gets a lot done in the span of one day. You wish you had that kind of time management skill), Raven is probably meditating, or reading, or meditating. And, while you want to speak with Robin, you figure you should give it a little more time so he can finish up work on your communicator.

That leaves Starfire (and possibly Silkie by extension). You're sure there's something fun that the two of you can do together. Maybe you can play that game of tag you talked about in the past.

You actually run into her in the hallway, stopping and saying hello, which prompts her to do the same.

"Good day, my friend," she greets with her usual smile. "Oh! You may wish to know that friend Rose has decided to visit. I am sure she would be most willing to train with you if you ask, though friend Donna will probably wish to spar with her."

>>A. "I actually sparred with Rose already."

>>B. "What are you up to?"

Hah, nice.

Yeah, credit where credit is due. The anons haven't really shafted anyone on their team.

>>2317339
The plus side is that we no longer need Raven's help as much. We've grown beyond what she initially taught us, though I don't think her lessons were wasted. They were what we needed when we needed them. The downside is that it means we spend less time with Raven as a result, since she's sort of hard to hang out with.

Maybe the direct approach would be best. Go up to Raven and ask to hang out, and let her choose what we do. If asked why, just tell her honestly that we'd like to spend more time with her.

Pete needs to get a copy of Chessmaster or something so he's not a complete scrub when it finally happens. Otherwise, it's 50 threads of build-up culminating in getting completely blown-out within 10 moves.

"I actually sparred with Rose already," you tell Starfire. "What are you up to?"

"I am looking for Silkie," Starfire explains. "It is time for me to give him his bath, but he has hidden from me. He does not enjoy the bathing, but after a certain period, he begins to stink."

>A. "I could help you find Silkie."

"I could help you find Silkie," you offer, deciding that having a dirty, smelly worm creature running loose around the tower would be very bad.

"Thank you," Starfire says with a warm smile. "I have already searched the immediate area around my room. We should split up and see if we can find him."

Nodding in agreement, you part ways with Starfire, determined to find Silkie before it's too late.

>To be continued

Kind of an odd place to leave it, but it's 1 in the morning here, so I'll be calling it a night.

My twitter is @INSTIGATORQST, which you can check to see updates and changes in terms of scheduling.

I should be running on Saturday or Sunday, maybe even both.

As always, feedback, questions, comments, and so on are both welcomed and encouraged. I take the time to read all of them and consider what you say.

I hope you had a good time, and I thank you for playing. I hope to see you all next time.

Nice. We shot up quick with Rose it seems, looks like our performance in our spar (and our tap out) were on target.

How close to maxed out are we with Starfire? What's the next rank? Treasured Friend?

Also, we should be careful, depending on how we do the bath quest we could lose affinity with Silkie.
>>
>>2317579
Rose has few friends, and had few people that were kind to her growing up, so when she makes friends, she values them considerably. And the fact that you did something like offer to do something with her other than sparring earned you some points.

Starfire is also someone who really treasures her friends. She considers you family like the other members of the team.
>>
I had a thought regarding bath-quest. While wrangling Silkie might be tough, perhaps we can ask Mr. Moth about keeping Silkie clean. Maybe bathing is the wrong answer entirely, and there might be other options to keep our grub clean and smelling fresh.
>>
>>2317584
That's sad but cute.

Don't tell her that

I wouldn't dare to. But wait, why the warning?

Reread my post, I'm not suggesting that.
>>
>>2320138
Then what ARE you suggesting, anon?
>>
>>2320138
I know you weren't. I was answering why MoG might warn against it. Unless you meant why MoG would drop a hint as opposed to remaining silent?

>Peter unlocks the forbidden knowledge of Silkie
>>
>>2320181
The latter. I got nothing on that.

>>2320174
I'm not suggesting anything, it's not a vote and I said I - wouldn't - vote to tell her such.
>>
>>2320193
We've been stuck at Rank 3, this is how we progress on Silkie's route.

We wouldn't want to help with the bath anyway. It involves licking Silkie.

>>2320391
Who told you?

I got the game guide as part of the special edition pre-order. I like to support games I like, and also I'm a competitionist. Don't worry, I won't give any plot spoilers.

>>
>>2320779
I won't unless we miss the event and finish the pacifist route. Then I'll let everyone know and we can decide collectively, if we should do a new game plus.

I wonder if any /quest/ has ever done a new game plus
>>
>>2320788
I'm not sure
>>
>>2320788
Yes. Old /tg/ quests like Re:Spider :)
