Hours? Days? Time seems to stretch and lose all meaning inside this hospital room. The occasional footsteps are the only noises breaking the monotony of the air ventilation system.

Are you awake, Fourth? You’re scheduled for a synch test down at the Test Facilities on B-40. Get dressed. I’ll escort you there.

I think Dr. Hughes is overseeing the test this time

Note that there is a possibility that the Eileen whose body we are currently controlling might be our facing interrogation in our place while we're goofing off and making her relationship with her sister even worse.
Another alternative is that we're surpressing her mind while we're piloting her body, leaving our former meatsuit a drooling husk probably due for disposal very soon, but that doesn't have the tang of suffering up to par for this quest for that to be as likely, if you ask me.

I'm thinking that, rather than us being Major's consciousness in Eileen's body, we just switched to playing Eileen. There's a pretty good chance Major is dead, and if not dead he's certainly missing.

There is also a possibilty that "we" were never the Major at all; we merely came into that role of our own violition, but that's just a fringe theory of mine.

Either way, we shouldn't let people know about us suddenly becoming a hivemind, and we should also probably keep the metaknowledge under wraps. The less people cotton on to us not being a 'normal' EVA pilot, the better.

[Section-2 Agent]
>>2330633
Yuri? What are you talking about? I swear you pilots creep me out.

>>2330674
Yeah, yeah. Stop whining and get ready. The Head of Science doesn't like waiting, especially not after you kids.

>>2330729
Look, my job is to get you there. I don't know if your clone is there or not. Oh, wait- are you the clone one? I don't remember. Or care, for that matter.

You turn around, waiting for the guard to wait in the corridor while you change into casual clothes, but he walks in and close the door. He mentions "security reasons", but as the Head of Tactical Ops, you know he's making it up.

>>2330697
>>2330708
Good. Follow me.

Once you exit the room, you see the Section-2 Agent using his keycard to lock the door.

You have trouble keeping up with his pace, or rather, Eileen's shorter frame makes it hard to walk as fast. After numerous corridors and elevators you finally reach the testing facilities, where two other Section-2 Agents are standing in front of the pilot dressing room.

You have ten minutes to get into your plugsuit. You know the drill. Go now.

As you enter the dressing room, you notice one half-open locker with some clothes inside.

[Florence]
Is someone there? I'm almost done changing!

>>2330810
Miss Davies? I don't run into her often, but I'll give her your message, don't worry!

Between you and me, I get the feeling she doesn't like me. She is so cheerful with everybody else- but when I'm around she seems, I don't know, uncomfortable? I hope I'm wrong.

She's certainly comfortable around the Major, though. Do you think there's something between them? They'd make an odd couple.

Not so great. For some reason the Science Division needs her all the time, we don't spend as much time together as we used to. She's always so tired. I hope it goes back to normal soon.

...

Say... She looks away. You and Carl- I mean, you don't have to answer if you don't want to- but you've gotten pretty close lately, right? That's what Katie and Anna told me.

Did you... Well- Have you two been, like, intimate with each other?

Ah okay. Then yes i think we are. Migth explain why Florence feels so secure/confortable near the Major.

Cause she is a artificial human.

She's already been confirmed as an artificial human/clone. In fact, she's probably a clone of Ophelia, the girl connected to the MAGI computer and whatever that's connected to.

>Why are you interested?
W-well, the thing is that while- You see, yes, there is someone. I-I'm not saying who. And I think there's been a bit more... proximity when we're together. A-and alone. Hum.

...What I'm getting at is that I'm not that- well, I've never been, you know, close. With someone. So you could say I don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing and I was looking for someone who did have some experience with this sort of thing so that they could run things through with me so that I don't end up making a fool of myself because I never did said thing.

So what you are suggesting we practice kissing? I think you have being reading to many strange magazines. -laugh- But being serious, you shouldn't be afraid of doing it you are a great girl and who ever it's you like must like you back rigth? If you feel connected to him or her you should just say what you feel and not being so afraid. Humans interact with each other and sometimes we hurt each other for petty things, sometimes we hurt each other without intention either to. So you should just be yourself and figure things out together with that person you like. Something about the journey is as much important as the destiny of it. And if he or she hurt your feeling you tell me that i will go and deck his or face in. And if it's a adult i will just tell the major...once he gets back.

*looks around then approach a little bit closer*

Eillen said he's missing and she can't find him i don't know what to think about it and i'm kinda worried after all waking up and not having him around.

You guys know we're fucked if we actually try this test? If it's a trap, we're springing it hard as fuck, and if it's not, we're going to have some highly freaky readings due to being about 15 people in one brain, which is going to get us tubed if we're lucky, and dissected if we're not.

This is why we should've gone for the gun last thread. I'm hoping there's some door he'll need his keycard for and we can pull a "yeah I'll wait here, don't you worry, sir." But chances are he'd just radio for someone instead of leaving a pilot unattended.

I'm not that paranoid about our situation.
Even if our tests results are abnormal, we're still stealth for a little time. And we dropped a few bottle in the sea that doesn't consist in taking a gun and trying to run out.

The keycard is an insurance. A gun wouldn't have helped in a high security containment zone.

You finally reach the test cages and the main control room, which is overcrowded with Nerv science personnel. You're immediately greeted by the familiar but unpleasant voice of the Science Division's Chief Officer.

Well, well, well. Look who finally showed up. Our little pilot Cathleen herself.

Hm- She's named Eileen, Chief.

Yes, yes. Of course. He turns back to you. Now sweetheart, you made a whole lot of very important people wait for you. That's a bad thing to do, I'm sure you understand. I'm afraid there will have to be consequences. But for now I hope your ready to give it your all today. We developed a lot of very complicated, sciency stuff that will help you synchronize with your Eva Unit. I just know today you will finally be able to reach the operational synchronization threshold! The commander will even come here to watch your efforts bear fruit, what a lucky girl. Now, there's nothing for you to worry about. Nothing has changed on your end, it's all the same procedures.

Did you get all that? I'm sure you did! You're such a bright pilot, Cathleen.

No, as you surely know by now the Major has been MIA for the last few weeks. I'm afraid you won't see him in the near future, if ever. Aw- I know you and him were close, but I'm sure you love his replacement just as much.

>Let's just get in the goddamn plug.
Tired of Dr. Hughes' condescending tone, you promptly turn your back on him and head for the catwalk leading to the Entry Plug, followed by your Section-2 handler. You've seen your pilots do this everyday for more than a year but still, there's a feeling of dread you can't shake off.

Between the personnel' incessant comm chatter and the numerous pre-synch checks, there's not much room for you to think. Even then, you find yourself having trouble to keep up. Once that's over, the Entry Plug is slowly filled with LCL. You feel the warm, amber-colored liquid running up your legs, your torso and over your head. The liquid burns your throat at first but soon enough you have no difficulty breathing, even if it leaves a bad metallic taste in your mouth.

[Head, Science Division]
Were ready to begin the 4th Child's first synchronization test of the day. AT inhibitors are in place and all neural connections established. Is the First Child ready?

[Nerv Officer]
Yes, Sir. The induced coma has been successfully achieved and her vitals are within optimal parameters.

As soon as the countdown ends your hearing is drowned by the sounds of hundreds of computers and part whirring up. It escalates dramatically, intruding your brain until all sounds reach an almost painful climax, and then dies out.

You can still hear a faint ringing, but the only sound remaining is soft bubbling of the LCL- At least until Dr. Hughes' unpleasant voice erupts from the comm.

[Head, Science Division]
13.432%. Again well below the operational threshold. Still, it's 3 points more than last time. Start again.

The same procedure begin again, and again. The same loud whirring, the same ringing echo. And each time the synchronization ratio goes up you can hear Dr. Hughes become more enthusiastic.

[Head, Science Division]
Those are fantastic results, sweetheart. Keep at it! You're almost past the operational threshold.

And then as the equipment's cacophony get worse, as the ringing becomes unbearable, every sound and feeling harmonize into one immense, indescribable feeling.

[Nerv Officer]
Aaaand we've passed Borderline.

[Head, Science Division]
Aha! Finally! What about the First Child?

I altered the synchronization test's parameters in order to speak with you. The Fourth Child's body is currently unconscious, but I'm able to reach you for a short time.

I am what's left of Ophelia Twelve's mind, hidden and buried deep within the MAGI's core, after Dr. Hughes removed everything that made her...her. He will surely notice my meddling after this, so this will be our first and last conversation.

The last angel will soon be upon you. It will come from the northern shore of the moon's Mare Imbrium, as foretold in the Prophetiae Merlini. It will be an absolutely devastating fight, at end of which humanity will lose. Dr. Hughes knows this and will resume his Human Abiogenesis Project once the last angel starts its communion the Egg.

>Can we stop him, or is the MAGI virus our only option?
This is the only option we have right now. It also was the only option Wilson, Ophelia and Mark had back then, during the Contact Experiment in Antarctica. The resulting cascading Anti-AT field reaction will give humanity a few more years to come up with a way to permanently disable the Egg.

>>2335415
>Are we correct in assuming that means we need to activate the virus on the day of the attack?
Yes, as late as you can. Dr. Hughes or the Commander cannot be allowed to go through with their project, and they will activate it once the last Angel comes into contact with the Egg.

>>2335416
>What is Human Abiogenesis?
The complete symbiosis of a select few and the Egg, the resulting entity would then inherit humanity's legacy. Every human left behind would be subjected to unimaginable suffering as the anti-AT reaction produced by the merge destroys their ego.

>Do you think it's possible to prove this prophecy to be wrong?
The U.N. spent years running every supercomputer at their disposal to answer this question. Unanimously, the answer was no.

Shit, all this for just a few more years? Just to delay the inevitable? And all signs point to it being inevitable. God, what a mess. If we can't change the course of fate we should at least stop HSCI and his masters from ascending to godhood. Ah, if we're fighting angels maybe I shouldn't say the G-word.

We can't just kill HSCI. Like Ophelia said, this plot goes all the way up. Him, Commander, whoever is giving Commander the orders. If we kill HSCI that probably won't stop the plot and it'll probably tip someone off that we're onto them.

The timing and location involved with the virus is going to be tricky. If we're activating the virus day-of, as late as possible, that either means we need to do it before or during the angel attack.

Before would mean infiltrating the MAGI complex, activating the virus, then leaving, doing that all covertly, and timing it just so that we finish as the angel hits. That'd require down to the hour foreknowledge of the angel attack. I don't like that, too much room for error both in planning and execution. Like Ophelia said, the less time we give HSCI the better.

Doing it during the clusterfuck would be, well, a clusterfuck. We'd have to break off from the Angel fight at an opportune time then make a run for the MAGI chamber. Benefits being that things would be *very* busy on HSCI's end and it's probable he either wouldn't notice or wouldn't have time to counter the virus. Problem is, given that we'd be fighting an apocalyptic battle, I don't think we could fuck off without someone noticing that we're either running off with the robot or not in the robot. Then,
they catch on, and try to stop us. Ideally the battle would take us near the MAGI, we take a dive, eject from the EVA, and go in from there.

Should we inform the other Fourth Child? What about Florence, if she's still alive? If we can get the other EVA pilots on-side that would really help. Not Carl though, fuck Carl. We also need to get in touch with CAG pronto, I think she's got the disk.

Again!

You hear part of your suit charging up with electricity, then feel a sharp burning sensation in your chest.

[Nerv Officer]
...We've got a heartbeat. Length of the cardiac arrest: 12 seconds.

[Head, Science Division]
Good. Get her out of the Entry Plug and take her to her room, that's all we're going to get out of the Fourth Child for today. Seth, schedule the First Child for a complete check up with the Chief Medical Officer.

...Are you satisfied, Graham?

[Nerv Commander]
Somewhat. You say her neural imprint is compatible?

[Head, Science Division]
It's not optimal, but she'll prove to be a stable backup if we ever lose the Second Child.

[Nerv Commander]
Good. Keep me updated.

You feel incredibly weak. As the field crew takes you out of the entry plug, you struggle to stand up by yourself. "You did good today, everyone's proud" you can hear someone technician say. Soon you're surrounded by medical staff running tests, some even taking blood samples. While your head was already spinning from this whole ordeal, the two dozen faceless men surrounding you certainly didn't help. Eventually someone brings a wheelchair in which you promptly sit, after which your Section-2 handler takes you to your room.

You subtly touch the base of your plugsuit's collar to see if the keycard you hid there remained in place, refraining yourself from letting out a sigh of relief when you feel its sharp plastic corner.

Just need some sunglasses.
>>
Seems like this is it lads. Seems unlikely we'll be getting back to our old body before the final battle; if ever at all.

Literally the only guy on the bridge we can come close to vaguely trusting is Seth, whom we've had all of two conversations with. If we can get CAG to believe us, she -might- be willing to try and influence Seth into helping her help us.

For some reason, Anna appears to be central to whatever HeadSci and the Commander are planning, with us standing in as a backup. Unknown how Florence fits into this, but seeing as she had to be present for the synch test we just did, its likely she has a role to play as well.

Also, if I had to guess based off the tidbits we just got, I'd say we're to Mark what Eileen Marie is to Eileen Katie. It might have been a week or two since we got into this bodyjacking situation, though, so I don't think Eileen has much time left before we overwrite her completely.

Usually I'd want to fight the fucker, but we've ignored Ophelia almost every time she's tried to save us, so I think she's earned our obedience. I guess we just have to tell CAG to evac the kids, and get this shit done.

>The U.N. spent years running every supercomputer at their disposal to answer this question. Unanimously, the answer was no.
We still have a chance then :^)

>>2335793
CAG is a safe bet for this role. When it come down to introducing in illegal areas, she's pretty good. She'll end up captured for sure but we will all dies anyway.

Maybe we should try to find a way to save the childrens during this battle. We were entrusted their safety and it could be nice if they survived the battle.

And try to find our body maybe? Or what happened to it? Last thing was the commander and HSCI giving us some serum to interrogate us or something.

Also NERV have been under attack from"terrorists" group multiple time already (they even tried to kill our current body when we met her). Maybe we could look into it? They are potential ally? UN guy too. It's a bit late to find their motive but well.

[Section-2 Agent]
Get up, we're here.

You lift yourself from the wheel chair. While you're in much better shape, you still feel a bit lightheaded. The door opens to reveal Rachel sitting on your bed, Vol de Nuit in hand.

[Rachel]
Thank god you're here. I can't read one more page of this book. Do you really like this? Shitty people destroying themselves over work? That's messed up.

[Section-2 Agent]
What-- You're not authorized to be here! Leave and go through normal channels if you want to visit a pilot.

[Rachel]
Come on big guy, don't make a scene. Just wait outside while us girls talk. I'm sure it won't be long.

[Section-2 Agent]
Don't make me physically remove you.

His tone changed dramatically, you're fully convinced he meant it. You look at Rachel but she's fiercely fixing the agent.

[Rachel]
She sighs. I'm so fed up with you Section-2 assholes. I'm here and I'm staying, whether you like it or not. Besides, do you really think you have the authority to rough up the acting CAG? You better think this over, man.

[Section-2 Agent]
...10 minutes. After that I'll--

[Rachel]
Yeah, yeah. Get out of here.

The agent pushes you in the room, and close the door. He was definitely pissed off, Rachel made sure of that. You hope this quietly blows over.

[Rachel]
I fucking hate these guys. They're everywhere now, and they think they run this place. Worst still, I heard they were sending U.N. military units to reinforce security here. Can you believe it? It's going to be such a clusterfuck.

Here, take this. She hands you some kind of small, busted up electronic device. Do you know what it is? It's a bug. I'm pretty sure it's the only one they placed in this room but you'd better check every once in a while. I like my privacy, I'm sure you do too.

So, Eileen told me you had a USB flash-drive for me? To be honest Marie, I didn't get what the message was about. I never took you to a bar, did I?
>>
>>2339323
Well, you never took Marie to a bar no, but you did have show me your lucky polka dot bra at the time.

>>
>>2339323
Yeah. About bug. You know. We're never sure. So I'll stay evasive.

You know the Major is missing right? Well. Maybe not. When I was talking about USB key, I was talking about the one you gave me in the back of that Bar. And when I say "I", I'm sure you understand who.

Yeah. I'm surprised as you are but we don't have much time to wonder why I'm stuck here with this pretty face.

But first. Do you know what happened to the "Major". Or someone who would now? Like where is body is?

I might also need a "little" service from you. But I'm not sure we can talk to our heart's content here.

What I figure is, Hired Goon is probably eavesdropping anyway plus whatever bugs Rachel didn't catch. Hinting at it relies on her to figure it out, we need certainty. Once she knows at least that, then we're both on the same page and can work from there. No plotting today, we've got ten minutes and no idea who's listening in. We'll have to get in touch with her later, get her to take us to Tims or something.

Hey, that's an idea.

Still want to know who the hell this person is. They might not have any bearing on the story at this point, but my autistic record-keeping demands I find answers. All I know is that they're implied to be an assistant to Dr. Hugues/HeadSci during the Antarctic expedition, but they're only showed up all of one time in our flashbacks. It's not Ophelia; their portraits look completely different.

And how the fuck does Dr. Wilson's son fit into all this? He seems too young to be Mark just going by how everyone in the flashbacks treated him - if its Dr. Wilson's son at all, because Hugues was the one in charge of him at some point during the expedition, and somehow knows Dr. Wilson's son's mother-in-law in Toronto!

The old drawings had a lot of charm, especially for the battle segments. You could whip up a google earth screenshot and a scribble in a few minutes and it made for a lot faster-paced combat. I kinda miss it, but with threads on /qst/ being a lot slower and sparser it wouldn't really work.

Wha- How...

You both stay silent for a while, looking at each other. He expression changes from confused to increasingly mad. Y-you stay right the fuck here, I'm not going home without you. She darts out of the room. The Section-2 agent looks at her leave and then turns toward you. You can feel his glare behind the opaque sunglasses. He closes the door without saying a word.

You take this chance to remove your Test Plugsuit and put on something casual. Taking good care of keeping the keycard out of sight, you subtly put it in the back pocket of your jeans.

While waiting for Rachel you lay down on your bed, It doesn't take long before the heaviness of your eyelid wins against your will to stay conscious. You awake to find the sun setting and Rachel's voice outside your room.

[Rachel]
What do you mean you need to confirm it with your superiors? Doc Sherman's signature is right here! You can hear the sound of paper shuffling. Are you blind or just retarded?

[Section-2 Agent]

[Section-2 Agent]
What? Just wait a-- Kane, this is CP. Reyes confirmed with the Chief Medical Officer, the leave is real. We've already dispatched a van to the CAG's house for protection.

[Rachel]
See? We're gone, agent Kain. You can be sure as hell I'm going to mention this to the Vice-Commander. Come, Marie.

You both leave the disgruntled man behind as he still tries to convince his superior to veto the leave. Eventually you pass a set of doors and, for the first time since a few days, are free of the man-in-black's presence. However, you're taken by surprise when Rachel takes your hand and feel your, or rather, Marie's heart pounding. The moment is short lived unfortunately, as Rachel's quick pace pulls you forward. Her heels and skirt doesn't seem to slow her down at all.

[Rachel]
Don't worry, the leave is real. I pulled a few strings and got Sherman to sign me one for you. Two days is the most he could do though, so that's all we'll have.

It takes a few minutes to fill out the forms needed for you to leave the medical ward. Free at last, Rachel brings you through the parking lot and to her car. You can notice her examining the surrounding area before sitting in the driver's seat and closing the door.

[Rachel]
At least we won't have to suffer through a motorcade, seems like they were caught short. There's no way they won't send a car to tail us though. She starts the car's engine and drive to the nearest highway. The car's clean, I got Lisa to check it out with her bug searching device-thing this morning. Clean isn't what you'd describe her car; Take-out bags and boxes are littered all over the backseat. You even spot a Labatt 50 can in there. She finally looks at you, for the first time since she came back.

Talk.

>There was an alarm, I found some suspicious guys in NERV uniforms, there was a shootout.
Nerv Uniforms? Like, Nerv Security ones? Holy shit, I understand why the whole thing is kept with a tight lid. Do you think Nerv-Montréal is comprised? Or somehow someone got a hold on these uniforms and infiltrated us? They'd have to have stolen keycards too. Fuck, now I get why they're sending in U.N. troops.

>next thing I know, I wake up in Marie's body
That's... hard to believe. It wouldn't be the strangest thing happening around here, but still. Is it connected to your, hm... condition? Who else did you tell besides me and Katie? She gets noticeably more emotional as the conversation goes on. Unusually so.

You finally reach Rachel's apartment. She pulls over in her driveway and turn off the engine.

Is she... in there? With you? Marie, I mean... Man, this is so fucked up. It already wasn't easy before, now I don't know how to approach this. You can see that's she holding back tears. It certainly is out of character for Rachel to be this worked up, but considering the current situation, you're not surprised. Even you were in the same state yesterday, whether because of the switch or because of Marie's teenager hormones you can't say for sure.

>Also, during the synchronization experiment I had a most unsettling vision. Our Magi contact--
She doesn't let you finish; as soon as her seat belt is unfastened she leaps toward you and after a short, awkward kiss, you both hug one another. Time stands still in her embrace. N-never leave again like this, you schizo asshole. Fuck! I thought you died! I-I was sure you were dead. I l-- She stops herself and try to regain her composure. Now my mascara's all fucked up. You discern a faint smile through her sobs. Seeing Rachel like this is harder than everything you've experience these past few days. We, huh- we should go upstairs. Talk about all of this and try to see what we can do next.

Her apartment is noticeably cleaner than what it used to before Anna moved in. The young girl must do most of the chores, or maybe a miracle happened and she rubbed some of her responsible nature onto Rachel. As she pours some whiskey into tropical-themed drinking glasses, you notice the Section-2 car pulling over across the street. One of the two men inside exit the black vehicle and lean on it, lighting a cigarette. It seems like they aren't exactly thrilled to be there.

You both sit on Rachel's sofa. She listen closely while you recall your encounter with Ophelia. Her brow furrows. You're telling me you've had this virus-thing for months? And you don't know if it's still at your place? What else did you held from me, Major? We can't afford to keep secrets anymore, not with everything you've just told me.

HSci is the little fucker he looks like. He want to ascend some kind of godhood with his friends by Tanging the whole humanity.

You're the only person I can fully trust. That's why I'm able to tell you this. But maybe we should looks for ally.

Rachel and you both spend most of the evening talking about what happened during the Antarctica mission, about Ophelia, Wilson and Mark. You speak at length of what happened on the MAGI floor when Phillip died, and when you went there to explore following the map Rachel gave you back then.
[Rachel]
Why have you kept all of this to yourself, Major? You had friends; Me, Elizabeth, Sophie. Hell, I'm sure Seth or Frank could have been helpful.

I don't know exactly what happened back in 2000, I'm not sure you do either, but you're still just one man. There's a short, awkward silence. The attacks, the conspiracies, the broken memories, those are all burdens you could've shared with us. I know you had pretty broad shoulders, but still. She drinks This is so surreal. The end of the world might come tomorrow but we're here on my couch drinking, while you don't even inhabit your own body... Was it even you own body? 'Fuck if I know.

She finishes her drink, and put the empty glass on the table. I think our first objective is to fetch that virus hard-drive of yours. Maybe we should send Ji Eun, since I'm sure Section-2 will confiscate it as soon as we exit your apartment. She's still mad at us for the threesome attempt, but if I explain things she'll come around. She's crazy but not stupid. I think.

And now that we know for sure Hughes is dirty, I gotta find a way to protect Anna from him. I don't know how yet, but-- Rachel finally notices that you were sleeping. She softly wake you up. Hey. It's getting late, we'll come up with a plan tomorrow.

...You can sleep in my bed if you want.

That's it for today guys, thank you for bearing with me. Next updates will come this Saturday.

Beginning next session I'll give you carte blanche regarding your actions, so you'll be free to tie up whatever loose end you want without being dragged into long expository npc dialogue (unless that's what you're shooting for).

It's really beginning to feel like the end. I hope you'll like what's coming.
>>
>>2347984
Thanks, Rachel. After everything that's happened I could use a rest. Maybe Marie's still in here or something like that. God, I hope she's alright.

Rachel is a treasure.
But we shouldn't sleep in her bed. Let's not give Marie any more awkward memories.

So there was a threesome attempt after all.
>>
>>2348565
Will Marie remember what we do?
>>
>>2348633
I think it's better to act as if she would, just in case.
>>
We should also have Ji Eun pick up Riot Shield-Chan while she's in our apartment
>>
What should we do next? I mean, except sleeping with CAG and maybe Ji eun?
Investigating about our body? Looking for ally? Flat the tire of Hsci? And then abducting him for interrogation?
Any ideas?
>>
>>2348724
In my opinion we need to make sure people who we were friends with know exactly what happened to us, but we also need to make sure they would keep it a secret. Something tells me that someone in NERV knows our situation and purposefully keeps everything covered.

>Something tells me that someone in NERV knows our situation and purposefully keeps everything covered.
Correct. Our best asset right now is the fact that everyone thinks Major is dead and Eileen is just a normal EVA pilot. Whatever we do we need to maintain our cover.
>>2348724
>What should we do next?
Well, CAG is on side, so we can check that off the list. In the immediate term we need to get the USB drive and determine who is going to make the run on the MAGI. Probably CAG, because the script calls for us to be in the robot around that time.

We should check up on Florence, make sure she's alright and there's no complications from the induced coma in the test.
We might consider getting the other EVA pilots on our side, at least letting them know "angel attack soon" and "HSCI is up to something".
Maybe we could investigate the Major's disappearance. Like, who took him. That could be an ally, or that could be the big enemy.
I'm hesitant to take overt action against HSCI, at least for now. We know the scheme involves him, and the commander, and the big bosses at the UN, so taking out any of the UN's pawns will alert them to our actions and probably just result in the pawns getting replaced. We need to wreck the scheme, not the people, and we've already got a tool to do that even if it is a last-minute clusterfuck.
>>
>>2348795
Yep. Let's just not tell every random guy that we are back. Only closest allies should know. Also I also feel like the asshole scientist is somehow behind the body shift. He behaves really smug when focusing on us. Also we migh have some secret codes needed for identification, since we are a commander of a secret underground base. We might be able to use that to take over in emergency.
>>
>>2348981
>Also I also feel like the asshole scientist is somehow behind the body shift. He behaves really smug when focusing on us.
You might be onto something there, but then again he's always been a smug asshole.

>Also we migh have some secret codes needed for identification, since we are a commander of a secret underground base. We might be able to use that to take over in emergency.
But we're not the commander, we're just the operations director. Think Misato, not Gendo. The Commander is in on that scheme, so the secret command codes are probably going to be working against us.
>>
>>2348992
I mean we might have access we shouldn't have as a pilot and we could use them not only to get into places but also to prove our identity. If we list enough. And on the body shift, we are either forced by the scientist guy or we just straight up died and were saved by someone.
>>
>>2348795
Since Florence told us that there was rumour about how Carl and our body were getting along, maybe we could use this to get him on our side?

Ceg made a whole cast a various characters that we could have interacted with and won to our side to call in enough favors to avert the end of the world for a little longer

Pretty sure the Commander was the one behind our disappearance. There's a chance our body might still be in NERV, assuming it hasn't be disposed of already.

/qst/ was specifically exiled from /tg/. The people who fill this board are a lot of those exiles with some occasional newfags. The idea that old /tg/ would be better at questing is a meme propagated by the nostalgia of what many consider to be the 'golden age' of questing, back when everything was on /tg/. Personally, it seems the exile only really did one thing for both the /tg/ purists and the questers, both of the boards are slower than old /tg/ due to split traffic. Quality in both playerbase and QM's is now as it always was.
>>
>>2352863
I dunno, I got into quests because I saw them on /tg/. If I had started lurking /tg/ after the /tg/-/qst/ split I'm not sure I'd ever have checked /qst/ to see what it's all about.

So I don't think /qst/ as a board brings in many new posters.

Rachel's couch wasn't all that comfortable. You spent most of the night shuffling around trying to get into a good sleeping position. Thankfully the morning comes, and with it the smell of a fresh batch of coffee. Without thinking too much you get up and walk to the kitchen where you find the scarred woman eating toasted bread. I don't remember the last time I was up before you. She smiles. Do you want a slice of toast? I don't have any butter left but I found some Pam. It's almost the same, right? Oh - coffee? While she gives you your coffee mug, the apartment's door open. Anna enters leaving outside the two Section-2 Agent escorting her.

[Anna]
...Morning Rae. Ugh - I so need a shower, my hair stinks of LCL. She appears exhausted. Have you filled and sent your C32 form yet like I told you to? You're going to miss the renewal deadline if you keep "forgetting to do it". She walks toward Rachel, both hug for a moment.

[Rachel]
Give me a break, mom. You've only been here for, like - 30 seconds.

Anna softly laughs. I like it when you call me mom. It's funny. Florence and Laurie will come today to help out with all my late homework. The small Eva pilot removes her shoes and drop the duffel bag she was carrying next to a coat hanger. Her eyes widen as she finally notice you. M-Marie? Since when are you out of the medical ward? Y-you're okay? She suddenly becomes uncomfortable. You guess she still hasn't sorted everything that happened with Eileen during the 4th angel battle. Rachel quickly responds for you.

[Rachel]
Yeah, she's spending the weekend here before they reassign her another guardian.

[Anna]
I see... I'm glad you're better, Marie. Don't worry about the Major, I'm certain they'll find him soon. I just know it.

[Rachel]
Oh right - take this. She gives Anna a credit card. I'll be out today so you'll have to order food for your friend and creepy albino girl. Make sure to order enough so we have left-overs.

[Anna]
S-she's not creepy!

[Rachel]
Yeah, yeah. Can't hear you over your horrible LCL smell. Go take that shower, for our sake. You notice Anna getting ready to argue, but quickly abandoning the idea. Before heading to the bathroom, she turns toward you.

[Anna]
Be careful with that mug, Marie. It's the one the Major always use when he comes over. He'll want it when he comes back. You and Rachel both look at each other. It seems like she instinctively gave you this specific mug, out of habit. You nod - and with that she close the door. You soon hear the sound of water rushing out of the shower head.

[Rachel]
So! What's the plan for today, Marie? If you still want to, I'll call Ji Eun later - see if she can get your hard-drive and the riot shield from your apartment. Why do you want it back, exactly?
>>
>>2355552
I want that riot shield for emotional support. It's like my teddy bear, only rectangular and armored.

As for the plans, we need to gather allies. Might as well start with Anna. Any objections?
>>
>>2355552
Yes, do that. And the riot shield is one of my most precious possessions. I'll need it for when everything goes down.

I do need to figure out who, if anyone, we can trust with this. Suggestions?
>>
>>2355552
The shield is more than just an object. It's a symbol for all that we fight for. Hope, security... even love. I don't think you could understand just how much it means to me.

Alright, here's what I'm thinking. Right now we've got two leads to follow up on. That's
>Third Impact
>Instrumentality

Third Impact happening is a given. On top of the prophecy, there's vested interests (NERV) who want it to happen and will throw all their resources at making it so. That doesn't mean we can't try our damndest to avert it, but, well, we'll probably fail. We already know the Last Angel will come from the moon, so we might be doing some high orbit fuckery again. What we ought to find out is:
>When the last angel will arrive
>What form it will take
>What its capabilities are
>What, if any, secret weapons can be deployed

Instrumentality is something we can cockblock. Shit, I'd give my left nut to cockblock That Smarmy Motherfucker. We've already got one ace in the hole for that, what with the virus payload for the MAGI. We need to work out a delivery plan for that. We also ought to do some investigating on HSCI's Instrumentality program, see if we can work out another attack vector to hedge our bets.
>Formulate a plan for delivering the USB Drive to the MAGI during the angel attack. Who does it and how.
>Use the Section 2 Goon's ID card to get inside the secret Human Instrumentality Project labs. Bonus points, get one of the scientists access cards.
>Find a way to sabotage the scheme

There's also a couple miscellaneous things. We could always use more allies and we probably want one or two more. We should also find a gun for use in the Instrumentality recon run.

We got our flask. We're getting our riot shield. We know what we don't know. Let's get back in the saddle and finish this.
>>
>>2356598
While you don't gotta justify pausing to us, a Rachel pinup'd be bloody brilliant.

If I'm correct you seem pretty busy at the moment anyway though, so don't push yourself.
