Welcome back True Believers, As requested in a few Polls i’m back doing yet ANOTHER run of Web-Weaver. Last time we had a strange dream of portends of the future and began to discover we were no longer any ‘normal’ human. We busted a robbery and now we're running into the protectors of Jump City themselves: The Teen Titans! http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2305066/

Let’s swing right on in!

You could tell from the long silence, broken up by still muffled insults from Gizmo, that there was confusion at your presence. To them some out-of-nowhere hero had beaten them on their own turf and taken down a trio of villains with little trouble. You however were riding the high, you had not only fought the trio but come out on top! First Flash and no-

Your brain grinds to a halt; YOU WERE GOING TO BE LATE FOR CLASS!

“Uh...hi.” Robin replies, relaxing slightly as he seems to register your greeting.

“Duuude there’s no way!” Beast Boy exclaims, all but ignoring any protocol and running over to the bundled up villains and taking a hop.

In an instant he goes from being a green human being to a spider, crawling over the bundled up and squirming villains before hopping off and changing back. He’s practically vibrating as he runs back up to you.

“How’d you do it?!” He begs to know, ignoring the huff and slight glare of both Robin and the resident empath.

“Do...what?” You ask, genuinely unsure of what he means.

“That’s Spider-Silk man!” He exclaims, changing back to his spider form and shooting some against your costume before turning back. “How’d you get that much?!”

“It just...sort of comes out of me.” You say lamely, extending a hand out and quickly make the same gesture you had made before.

With a soft ‘twip’ you watch as a quick surge of the web-like fluid spurts from your wrist, spreading out into a wide splotch on the ground. This surprises the younger teen but it nevertheless excites him.

“Oh man that’s awesome! You’re like some kinda Spider-Man!” He cheers, and you can’t help but chuckle.

“I actually hadn’t thought of a name.” You admit and that seems to catch Robin’s attention.

“What do you mean you hadn’t thought of a name? You are a hero, aren’t you?” He asks.

Were you? Sure you had managed to stop this bank robbery and done something heroic, but were you really going to immediately confirm something as major as that? You were a junior in high-school that had woken up one day with a warning of a battle between five other people who were chosen by who knows what. So in reality what were you?

“I uh...I’m just a concerned citizen.” you say, already walking towards the open door back out into the city. “I was in the neighborhood, I had the time and the power so I said ‘I’m going to go help the people’.” You continue, slowly rambling faster and faster.

“That doesn’t answer the question, though.” Robin insists, glaring slightly.

“Because I don’t have one!” You yelp, the panic and reality of the situation hits you. YOU, the loser geeky kid who like to make cookies and wear an apron was talking to the TEEN TITANS AS A SUPERHUMAN!

“Look I’ll figure it out, I have to get to class; Ring me when you need me, Gottago!” You squeak out, shooting a web through the window you had entered and quickly leap away, rapidly swinging your way down the road.

After a few seconds of furious swinging and flipping you finally feel yourself calm down and you realize you had been stupid; Very very stupid. You had said you had to get to class in your panic, something that could be used against you. Rule number one in the comic books was to keep your identity secret.

And you had just asked them to call you, let alone that you had class; What the actual hell was wrong with you?

With your feet slapping near silently against the rooftop you pick up your bag, your costume already receding away to wherever it went as you rushed down the stairs. Reaching the bottom you rest your back against the wall, letting yourself calm down as best you could. There was a lot more on your plate now, and reckless action had now created very interesting problem for yourself.

You needed a hero name.

>As stupid a question as it is, you can’t help yourself. What’ll it be?

You honestly want to say that Spider-Man would be a great name, simple, explains your powers and sounds friendly enough. Even as you’re auto-piloting your way through English class you’re jotting down names and thinking to yourself. The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Superior Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Astonishing Spider-Man. The list went on.

You had to admit, it was a good name and you’d just have to take it.

You cannot help however of thinking back to the encounter you had just had with the Titans. You had told yourself that they would show up, even expected it as you ran lept into action. You had known all this and yet you had choked when it came to talking to them.

They were the hero’s, and now so were you.

That thought is one that equal parts excites you and worries you; And as you pack up your bag to head for the last class of the day you’re roused from your thoughts by Harry of all people.

“Did you see it yet man?!” He exclaims, his face wide.

“See what?” You ask, as you had not seen anything crazy involving anything other than…

Wait a second.

“The video, of the new hero in town!” He exclaims “What else would it be, i mean look. Everyone’s watching the videos that got captured.” He says, holding up his smartphone.

Sure enough it is a video of you from the bank. Taken by one of the hostages no doubt, as its low quality and shaking, but sure enough you see the black, red and blue of your costume. You hadn’t expected to get attention this quickly, but looking around the hall you see that sure enough everyone is on their phones in groups.

And there was a single name murmured on all of their lips: ‘Spider-Man’

One boring latin class later and you were finally free, finally able to have some time to yourself and figure things out. You decide to ignore the bus, instead taking a walk down the block and get away from prying eyes. It was a Friday, which meant you didn’t have to worry about homework or curfew, at least for a day or two.

This also meant you had a weekend to figure out the mystery of your powers, and yourself.

Sneaking into a darker alleyway you quickly clambored your way up the wall, quietly marveling at the easy and speed that you are able to do it. It truly was superhuman and with the lack of worrying about school or heroes you could truly let yourself feel the amazement of the action. Pulling yourself up over the lip of the rooftop you set your bag down and…

Closing your eyes you feel the breeze and the slight hint of sea salt in your nose, while you often did this from the fire escape of your family’s apartment it was certainly nice to have this experience where you weren’t surrounded by semi-rusted metal. However you weren’t here to relax, you need to figure out how your ta’mak worked. So far it had come when you needed it, but did it also work when you summoned it?

Time to find out.

Opening your eyes you try to fool your mind into feeling the same hot/cold sensation you had felt when it first appeared, however that does nothing. You’re about to scold yourself for thinking that a feeling would summon your ta’mak when you feel that sudden pulse and sure enough you find your second-skin like suit has enveloped you once more. Thinking about it again and sure enough it vanishes just as quickly.

So that’s how it works, you just had to think about having it? Huh.

Slipping it back on you:

Taking a few minutes of looking it over and moving about, you discover that there are a pair of things that the ta’mak was capable of. The first general thing of note was that you could manipulate the suit in a few ways. This included hardening the fingertips to form claws, a connective membrane between the arms, back and legs that could in theory allow you to glide. While you would still have to test these things the last however was far more...grandiose.

And far more baffling.

During your internal focus you felt a ‘tug’ at your back, close to where the shoulder blade, spine and neck. You were unsure of what it was and so you had gone to feel it when you felt a bump, or what you had believed to be a bump. However touching the bump you realize it isn’t a bump at all but a...handle?

Opening your eyes you maneuver yourself towards the buildings A/C unit you notice that there is what you would describe as a ‘tear’ in the costume. Where you had expected to see your skin though there was a pale grey hole along with the bulge coming out of it. Gripping the bulge you feel the groves and sure enough it appears to be textured, a grip?

The hell was this thing.

Pulling it you feel no resistance, nor pain and pulling it before you you cannot help but feel surprised. Black and Grey and only broken up by the white of the web-like pattern of the blade it was a jagged ceremonial blade. It felt like air, yet balanced in your fingers as you inspected it, noting the spiderleg-like crossguard and incredibly thin blade. Pressing the blade towards your finger instead of pricking you you see the tiniest tear appear, the blade instead returning to wherever it went.

Well, that was handy.

Returning the blade to wherever it had come from when you hear the slight ‘woosh’ of wind and a pair of footsteps touching down on the roof..

“Friend Robin said I might find you somewhere around here.” You hear and all but jumping out of your skin you are face to face with the Tamaranean Titan, Starfire.

You feel your brain flick on and off for a split second at the realization that the heroine was talking to you, as in not in your general direction but in fact to you personally. You would have had to live under a rock to not know who she was. As much a Model and teen-icon as she was a warrior for justice, and she had quite the following because of her seemingly endless positivity.

And like many geeky teens you couldn’t help but see the charm in it.

“O-oh? Really? W-why would he send you to find little old me?” You ask, attempting to prop yourself up against the A/C unit in a way that would make you look either part comfortable or cool.

You can tell from the awkward feeling in your very soul that you are not succeeding.

“After this afternoon's battle he had insisted that we attempt to find the Man of Spiders and attempt to have a more social gathering.” She explains, extending a hand out to you. “Friends Beast Boy and Raven are also out on patrol. I was simply lucky to find you first.” She says with a giggle.

“Care to come to the Tower?” She asks, gesturing down to her hand.

“Oh? The Tower?” You ask

“Titans Tower, yes.” She replies

“You mean the monument in the middle of the bay, Titans Tower?” You reiterate.

She nods “It is rather hard to miss, Man of Spiders. Unless you are ‘The New’.”

You shake your head, just quickly grabbing her hand and thanking whatever deity would listen for making your totem have gloves; You didn’t need the sweat on your hands making things awkward.

Suddenly being lifted into the air you feel the wind on your suit and can’t help but be awed at the feeling. While you certainly loved the thrill of web-swinging so far, this was a whole other experience to you. Within a few minutes you’re already across the bay and the tower is only a few hundred feet ahead of you when a thought pops into your mind.

Hello Web-Weavers! Just wanted to pop in and say I'm all for a overlap of the TT/DC quests! I think it would be very fun to write something, especially with Weaver!

I really enjoy Spider-Man and suits with multiple forms, so Weaver's work definitely has my interest!
Hopefully the others will feel the same way!

Willing the folds on your back to form you can’t help but grin at the maniacal, stupid ‘macho-man’ idea you were now contemplating. But the facts were facts: You had yet to test your ‘wings’ and you’d have no better time than now. Looking up at Starfire you decide that maybe you needed to say something.

“I’ve got it from here.”

...Good Job, Brain, you at least warned her; You could work on your smooth talking later.

Using her arm like an inflexible rope you swing yourself towards the tower and slip out of her grip, falling back towards the tower with as much grace as you could imagine. With your course set you see Starfire behind you looking in shock at your plummet. Feeling the unassisted decent you spread your arms out and you immediately feel the resistance as your gliding membranes catching the wind and allowing you to not only slow down but guide yourself even better.

You could see why Superman loved it so much.

As the roof of the tower rushed up to meet you you pulled yourself up, your forward momentum turning into vertical momentum. Only going back up a few feet your ‘web-wings’ retract and you find yourself falling gently to the tower’s roof in what many would call the traditional superhero landing: crouched and ready to move at a moments notice.

But hey, you couldn’t beat a classic.

Standing up you turn to see Starfire touch down behind you, her eyes still slightly wide from her earlier fear. However you can also notice the small smile that was present on her face.

“I was unaware that the spiders of your world could do such things, it is why you are the Man of Spiders yes? You have all the abilities of them?” She asks curiously.

You shrug.

>What do you say?

You paused in your steps towards the stairwell and chuckled. There was only one real answer to the question:

“Honestly? I’ve got absolutely no fuckin’ clue; All I know is that I woke up this morning and could jump three stories.”

That wasn’t exactly true, you knew there were five other people who had similar powers and that you would have to fight them to keep dominance over them. But that could wait for the full meeting, as you wouldn’t want to have to repeat yourself.

“I do not see how sexual procreation would help you learn about your powers but if you require it I could alway he-”

“No! No! I’m fine, it’s just a turn of phrase!” You insist and you can feel your face go scarlet at the implications.

Note to self, cursing in front of Starfire was not always a good idea.

The rest of the rather short trip to wherever you were being led was a short but quiet one, and you were thankful for that. After the slip of phrase you didn’t trust your mouth to say anything coherent or appropriate. When you finally arrived it was what you could only assume was the common room, what with the semi-circular couch, kitchen and dining areas and so on. However what was most enthralling to you was none of things, but the sweeping beauty of the city of Jump that swept across the floor to ceiling windows.

“Wow.” You mutter out, barely above a whisper.

The tingling sensation at the back of your neck shoots up to the back of your brain and seeing as it had never led you wrong before you act. Your right arm shoots behind you, grabbing the offending object that was about to touch your shoulder. With a grip like steel you bend forward, pulling the offending object over you and throw it as it crosses over your shoulder. Seeing the black, yellow, red and green of Robins costume is when you realize just what you had done.

Watching him sail through the air towards the windows you can’t help but kick yourself.

As Starfire zooms ahead and reaches him, you stand there shell shocked by your actions. It actually put this...spider sense of yours into perspective. Did it stop you from harm as YOU perceived it or what was perceived as harm in any way? You could deal with that later though, for now you had to do the right thing.

“Sorry! Sorry! Uh...Shoot how do I explain.” You mutter to yourself, rapidly crossing the distance to meet the duo.

“It’s fine, it’s fine. Really.” Robin says, scratching the back of his head. “I should have figured you might be a bit jumpy.” He admits, extending a hand out.

“I’m Robin.”

You take the hand, shaking it quickly.

“Spider-Man.” You reply, giving a smile behind your mask.

“So you’re going with Beast Boy’s idea then?” He asks.

You nod and you’re given a nod in return.

“Right, well make yourself comfortable; The rest of the team should be back from patrol and we can get down to business.” He says, quickly making himself comfortable on the couch.

It was actually quite surprising to see how quickly he had gone from being professional, to casual and back. It was honestly surprising given his background as the sidekick of The Bat of Gotham, but you did your best to remember he was a teenager, just like you.

Sitting a bit further down the couch you have to pose a single question:

>A. Why did you send them out to find me?
>B. Did I do something wrong?
>C. So how did I do? At the bank I mean.

“Why have you been looking for me?” You ask quietly, looking over to the teen.

“Why wouldn’t we be. You admited yourself that you were new and yet you had managed to take on a trio of super villains with what looked like ease.” He starts, returning the stare with a neutral glance.

“But the deepest reason is that you are in a fragile position. You’ve got no training and you’ve got the kind of strength that draws attention to yourself. And I’ve seen how that sort of scenario can go...personally.” He says with a bit of a grimace.

“So...where does that leave me then? Is this a sort of house arrest?” You ask and he chuckles waving a hand.

“Oh no, not at all, the opposite actually. Come tomorrow I want to have you tested here at the tower so we can just what you’re capable of and if things go well, membership.” He admits and your brain all but short circuit.

What do you do?

“I...Just uh...full disclosure here but I’ve had my powers for like ten hours. I don’t even know where they came from or why I can do what I can do.” You admit and you feel a gloved hand on your arm.

“And that’s why we want to have this meeting, maybe solve the mystery of whatever happened.” He answers and from there you lull into a short but peaceful rest. It’s at least enough for you to come to terms with what may just come to pass in the next few days.

After another five minutes you find that sure enough the last three members of the Titans arrive, each taking a spot somewhere on the couch. Both Cyborg and Beast Boy take spots close to you, both evidently interested in your costume let alone your presence. Starfire is as amiable as ever, but there is one person who seems...well.

Apathetic.

Raven, the dark sorceress of the titans was simply staring at you with her unblinking amethyst. You don’t know if it's something you did or if maybe she saw something you didn’t but you sit there nonetheless until Robin speaks up.

You sigh before closing your eyes, as you knew they would believe whatever you said but even as you prepared to say it you knew you’d sound crazy.

“So it started last afternoon when I was on the bus home. I fell asleep and dreamt of a twisted Jump City and a crystal spider. The Spider crawled on me and sure enough I woke up at home and though things were normal until I ended up jumping a good thirty feet out of the way of a speeding car I didn’t even see.” You start, looking down at your hands for a moment before you speak up.

“From there things only got stranger and stranger, I could cling to walls, I could dodge things I shouldn’t have even been able to before, I was stronger, faster...But strangest of all is this suit.” You mutter.

“It isn’t a costume that I stitched together or made, I just...it comes when I need it. It talks sometimes, tells me things...called me ‘Mu’Kesh’ or hunter or...I don’t even know.” You admit, and for a moment you swear something crosses Ravens face but it was so quick and miniscule you had no idea what it meant.

“Hmmm so most of what you’ve shown us so far is everything you know huh?” Robin asks.

You nod.

“Well if you want to I have no issue with you staying at the tower for now if you wish. It would make it easier for you since we’ll be doing the tests in the morning.” He offers to you.

“I’d hate to impose and If I don’t get home soonish my Uncle will start to worry.” You explain, however you give a nod to him. “I will be more than happy to make myself visible for you to pick me up bright and early.” You promise.

“Understandable. I suppose we shouldn’t keep you so Raven if you would be so kind as to escort our friend home?” Robin asks and the cloaked teen nods, getting to her feet as you do the same.

Standing yourself you feel yourself shiver as you stare down at her, her face hidden by her midnight blue cloak. She presses her hand against your shoulder and you almost immediately feel a slight chill run through your body, from where she had touched you to everywhere else. As you move to ask you are interrupted as she speaks up.

“Picture where you wish to go in your mind and I will take care of the rest.” She says softly, tilting her head up slightly to stare up at you. You note that instead of the usual amethyst that there is instead a radiant, crackling black energy.

It’s easy enough for you to picture things, the small homely kitchen and dining room area of your apartment. When you finally have it done you feel what you could only describe as a pull from inside of yourself, like being folded a thousand times. When you open your eyes you see that sure enough you and Raven are no longer in Titans Tower, but exactly where you had imagined.

Except for the very high pitched and unforgettable scream of your Aunt May.

“Oh good heavens!” She exclaims, the kitchen phone shaking in her hand.

“Aunt May it’s okay! It’s okay it’s me!” You exclaim, immediately forcing the Ta’mak down from your face and head.

“Alexander what are you doing in that ridiculous outfit?!” She cries “I nearly had a heart attack.” She insists.

“I didn’t think uh, oh right. This is Raven by the way.” You mention, as you rapidly try to calm her down.

“Oh uh...um hello miss, you look lovely this evening.” She says, giving her a smile before pointing the phone’s antenna at you, glaring. “As for you mister I’m just glad you’re home, Ben was worried sick given the bullies you had been dealing with! He told me he was going to go get Lasagna form Ravelli’s but that was two hours ago.” She insists, frowning.

That was strange.

You’re about to ask for further details when the phone in May’s hand begins to ring. She quickly goes to pick it up and after a few moments she drops the phone from her hand. Your hand shoots out like lightning and catches it. Looking to your Aunt you see that she is visibly shaken.

“I-I think it’s for you Alex.”

”It seems I was right to turn the Hunter into the Hunted, no? Your stench is all over this man, Mu’Kesh and I am not a patient man. So how about this, a deal perhaps. Your powers for him.” A muffled and odd voice says and you feel your blood turn to ice as you hear a muffled “Don’t do it Sport!”

You feel your fists clench as a wave of emotions begin to bubble over you but you force them down for the moment.

“Where are you?” You ask without hesitation, already ready to burst out of the window and find him.

”Ah-ah-ah, you have to agree to the deal before I’ll talk.” the voice taunts and you feel your every being begin to vibrate.

“Fine, where.” You demand again

”The Warehouses in the Kirby District. You’ll know the one.”

The Line disconnects and you’re already out the window and in a flurry of motion. The emotions you had forced down had already exploded over you, but the one in particular that filled you most was:

It was a combination of things if you were honest. Anger and righteous fury coursed through your veins as you continued to swing and run across the rooftops, the only sound being the beat of your heart in your ears. But at the forefront of your mind there was not that haze of impulse but the clarity and focus of determined willpower to save your Uncle.

Screw keeping up your end of the bargain, you’d break every bone in the bastards body for what he’d done.

You had no idea how he had found out what your ‘scent’ was or why he had gone after your Uncle, but what was clear was that he was like you. He wanted your totem and was going after your family to get it. So you knew only one thing: He could take them from your cold dead body for what he had done.

Landing on the outskirts of the Kirby District you could see him in silhouette standing atop one of the older warehouses that made up the locale. Taking a leap you land across from him, doing everything in your power to not strangle him outright.

“Let him go.” You growl out, and you watch the figure step closer, kicking a bundle of cinderblocks into the warehouse and a webbed up Uncle Ben appears, strung up no doubt by your opponent.

”And just why would I do that? I haven’t gotten my end of the deal yet.” the figure taunts, hunching over the strands of web that were keeping your uncle suspended.

“And who’s to say you’ll just grid of us both when your satisfied?” You spit back, taking a step forward.

”That’s just going to have to be a risk you’re going to have to take now isn’t it, kid?” He retorts with a hint of a smile on his face.

He was right of course, but in that moment could you really trust this man's word?

No Deal.

You cross the distance between the two of you in a moment, your feet making contact with the bastards chest as you hear the ‘shrk’ of the web being severed and the muffled scream of Uncle Ben. Compressing into the kick you force him back, using the momentum to shoot yourself down into the warehouse proper and after your beloved uncle. You could hear the shout of your foe behind you and the slight metallic thud of his body hitting the roof but that didn’t matter right now. The man had attempted to extort your totem from you through kidnapping, he deserved nothing.

As you continue to sink down you only have maybe a second at most to do something and save your Uncle...but what?

>A. Use a web net, it should be able to slow and at least break his fall

Throwing your hands forward you fire ball after ball of webbing ahead of your uncle, the compact masses expanding out and stringing a large impromptu net. The moment your Uncle hits the net he begins to slow down, but unfortunately it's not as much as you had hoped as the man hits the ground with a bit of force. You’re almost immediately worried about him, but given he was still moving you at least knew he was alive.

However there were bigger problems on the horizon as you watch your opponent jump down through the same hole you had entered.

”WE HAD A DEAL, BRAT!” He roars, his body trembling with rage.

“And you’ll have to forgive me for not accepting a deal from a criminal.” You spit back, your voice steeled in your anger.

”I was only going to kill the Old man when I was done but it looks like you’ve already sealed your fate!” He spits back and Lunges forward to attack you.

It was at this moment that in your almost forced calm you realize that you had very little when it came to knowing how to fight. Sure you had gotten lucky with a few punches and kicks but that was mostly thanks to:

>A. Being enamored with old-school Kung Fu Movies
>B. You watched a lot of Wrestling when you were little

We can't think in the human limits, we need to start thinking wider and in 3 dimensions

>We're gonna rip his Totem from him, right?
Well of course. Totems give power, right? Can't let this nut job have power like this if he's gonna hurt our Dunkle or worse, our Aunty. Also, last I checked I think it was our job to collect these totems like we're building a tiki bar. At least that's what the crystal spider lady in our head said. I think.
>>
>>2341432
We are about to find out. Maybe it's like we activate the suit? Maybe we need to punch him until he's weaken then we think into absorving his totem?

Of course a dead host would be easier to steal the totem but a unconcious one is more heroic.

There's also the fact that killing isn't going to make us very popular with other heroes.

You had nothing but your instincts and your thoughts.

Your opponent comes down with a right cross and you’re quick to avoid it, however as you sway out of the way you feel his knee slam into the side of your head and then a deep pressure in your stomach as you are launched across the room. You finally stop however when your back slams into one of the steel beams, the horrible sound of metal bending as you finally hit the ground.

That...hurt.

Looking up from your prone position you see your foe stalking towards the writhing bundle that was your uncle. Similar to you you could see a tear in his suit opening up to that strange dimension your blade had come from, however unlike your dagger his was a sword of a similar design.

No...No, No, No.

You wouldn’t let his happen! You wouldn’t!

Your hands shoot forward, a pair of webs tugging at the man's wrists. Pulling hard you manage to off foot him as you get to your feet. Sprinting towards him you shout.

“I won’t let you!”

Your reactions scream of danger as you drop to your knees, sliding beneath a blisteringly fast swipe of the foe’s blade. Pressing your hands into the dust and cracked cement you bend back, pushing yourself into a flip. You manage to catch the man in the chin and send him airborne and coming down to complete the flip you have enough time to make a choice.

You had never used a knife in combat before, let alone against someone who was also using a weapon. However you could at least use it to defend yourself, right? On the other hand you could stick to your proverbial guns, and just beat him down until he’s defeated.

It seems we are pretty descent with a knife. Must be all the cooking we did. You know how to sharp a knife and make a clean cut just like those sushi masters.

We won’t let you kill Uncle Ben!

Don't even need to roll
>>
>>2341544

You knew what you needed to do.

Reaching behind you, you draw your knife and leap up towards your foe. By the time you’re halfway to him he has hit the ceiling and is already springboarding back towards you, blade at the ready to strike you down. Bringing your knife forward you push the sword away from what would have been a fatal stab, sparks dancing between the two of you. Bringing your other hand up you grab his wrist and press your feet to his stomach, forcing the two of you into a roll.

As this goes on however you realize that he is not using his webs, let alone anything else? Why?

It didn’t matter.

Letting go you kick down as hard as you can and watch with satisfaction as your opponent rockets towards the warehouse floor. Even as he corrects himself and puts himself on his feet the cement cracks itself from the impact. Coming to land on the far side you take a moment to kneel, your body still aching from the beating you gotten at the beginning.

There were no words between the two of you, this had become something more. This wasn’t about Uncle Ben anymore, hell this wasn’t even about the damn totems. It was something primal, something forgotten by man and awakened by whatever power you had been given. There was only one outcome now:

One of you would win, and one of you would lose; You just had a lot more to lose then him.

Giving out a guttural roar you throw the knife aside, your suit forms the beast like claws as you charge the distance between the two of you in a heartbeat. The concrete cracks beneath your footsteps as the two of you meet, both your weapons long forgotten as you clashed. Pain, anger, hatred; These things were forgotten as the two of you traded blows, Slashing and punching at one another full force.

You could feel bones break and tendons tear as the two of you sink deeper into whatever frenzy you had found yourselves in.

It could only have been a minute at most as you continued to battle one another, but an opening presented itself.

An over extension on your opponent's part, an over extension of a leg on a kick had given you a chance to grip the offending limb and lift the kidnapper. Slamming him back down into the ground you force the limb far beyond the point of extension, breaking it with a sicking crack.

Dropping the limb you Straddled your down and screaming opponent. It was clear that the pain excruciating but that wouldn’t matter for much longer. You had won, and it was now time to take your justly deserved reward. Bringing your clawed hands to your sides you roar in victory before bringing them above your head to give the finishing blow.

Your hands slam down, however they do not make contact as a shimmer of black energy surges around your arms. Looking wildly you growl and seethe at the figure who stands before you, her cloak billowing as the arcane energies slow your progress down. That however is all.

Slow, not halt.

You hear the near animalistic shriek as your claws puncture the outer layers of their ta’mak, pulses of red and blue pulsing along the number of holes. You however feel a warmth, an intoxicating rush of energy as you continue to rest your claws into the mans torso. It takes little more than a minute, but by the time it ends the costume is gone and in its place a figure you had never seen before; Their clothes tattered and destroyed below.

However you do not have much time to process this.

Pain explodes from every limb and nerve as whatever had possessed you vanished, and with it the cocktail of endorphins, adrenaline and other chemicals bled away; Leaving you once more conscious beyond whatever base need you had to satisfy. You already hear the slight ring of delirium as the pain only intensifies with each passing microsecond.

However it would not be the last.

You scream out as your arms are lifted above your head by whatever magic had kept you from straight out murdering the man pulling you away and tossing you aside. The impact makes you aware of a rather unsettling crunch, however that is little in comparison to the blinding flash of pain that deep fries your brain.

The last thing you see before the mercy of unconsciousness is the wide amethyst eyes of Raven, her mouth shouting something your ears would never hear.

(I’ll continue this in like, an hour or two. I hate to leave a cliffhanger but I do have to go run some errands so.)

The beat of the EKG is what rouses you from your dreamless sleep.

Cracking open your eyes you see that wherever you are it is dark, and other than the beat of the EKG monitoring your heart and breath there was nothing you could discernibly hear. You feel incredibly sore but the incredible amount of pain you had felt prior is not there. You do your best to sit up noting that your te’mak is missing, as are your street clothes. In their place is a medical gown and a number of tightly wrapped bandages along your torso, legs and arms.

The hell happened to you?

“You’re awake.” You hear Raven state, her monotonous voice shattering the silence of the room.

It startles you, but your body is so worn out you don’t give any physical reaction.

“Seems I am...yeah….” You mumble, attempting to stretch and only finding soreness.

“How long have I been out?” You ask

“Four hours.”

Huh...that was...less than you’d have thought you’d need.

“And...what are you doing here?” You ask

There is a long pause.

“You are in the tower, considering everything that happened it would make sense after all.” She replies dryly.

“That doesn’t answer my question though, what are you doing here?”

I'm pretty sure Weaver introduced this as a mechanic in the rwby quest he runs. Essentially, if we get >3 crits then the next crit has a chance to flip.

Well, I didn't follow rwby quest. So I guess I'm out of the loop. But if there is a rule like that, where it's basically kinda like how if you get too many doubles you go to jail in monopoly, then it's cool. Actually helps prevent frustration from nothing but shit rolls because someone decided to shit on a leprechauns porch. Though it does also prevent winning streaks to. But I'm fine with that too.

Though from how Weaver worded it, sounded like he just did it because because.

There is a pregnant pause as you stare at the Sorceress awaiting an answer. It is clear that she is mulling over whatever her answer was going to be and that honestly worried you. She had seemed colder to you than anyone else since you had met and it had only gotten worse given the events that had just occurred only a few hours before.

“After what happened and the fact that I failed to stop it, let alone control it I felt it responsible for me to ensure you recovered.” She says quietly.

...huh.

“What do you mean ‘failed to stop it?’ My Uncle got kidnapped and I went to save him and I just got a little bit overboard.” You insist, however even that weak excuse for your very out of character actions.

She sighs, before bringing your attention to the tome that she had set in her lap. Judging by the worn hard leather cover and slightly yellowed pages it was old, though how old you were unsure. She cracks it open and holds it up to you and revealed pages of unknown language and depicting a familiar crystal spider.

“After you stopped bleeding internally I went to confirm my suspicions and sure enough I was right. You saw one of these things, yes?” She asks.

You nod.

“It is a Herald, a Messenger, an Agent of one of one of the Outer Powers; Something that many would consider evil.” She explains.

You feel your heart sink.

“W-what do you mean by, evil?”

“This particular entity is Arachnarok, a demon of Fate. Humanity knows it better as Arachne but that is not important. What is important is that you have been swept up in it’s machinations.”

Well, that’s great.

“What...sort of machinations?” You ask after a minute of silence, digesting the information as best you could with any sort of calm.

“Well, if the records and this text are accurate this isn’t the first time an event like this has happened. Arachnarok is much like the other great demonic entities cannot directly interfere in the mortal plane, however she can still influence things in more subtle ways.” Raven starts flicking through to another page that contained what seemed to be a parody of the Vitruvian man, the needle like legs of a spider where the arms would usually be.

“By imbuing individuals with fractions of her power she...takes possession of you. And like you saw this evening, forces those possessed to kill and grow that power until one person is left, one with enough power to be her mortal agent.” She finishes, a ghost of a frown on her face.

You could feel the room chill, or was it your brain processing the implied information.

“And if that happens?”

“It has never succeeded, at least as far as anyone has recorded. All of those possessed by Arachnarok are usually killed; Though why has never been recorded.”

“So..I’m possessed, as in demonic possession?”

She shakes her head. “If you’re thinking ‘The Exorcist’, no. I do not mean that you are being directly possessed by the entity. What I mean is that the power you have been given has the side effect of forfeiting your soul to this creature.”

Oh, that’s great. That’s peachy.

Actually, no, even BETTER Question. What does Arachne even want? In fact, can't we talk to her? Why don't we ask her? The heck does she want? Like, sure she wants to become our patron or whatever and indirectly possess us. But to what end? Is it for fun? Does she want us to kill someone and this is all just to prove we can do it? >>2343999

“How did I forfeit my soul? Don’t you need to sign a contract or something to invite such a thing into you?” You ask, confused.

She chuckles, her frown replaced at least for the moment with a wry smile.

“It isn’t like in the movies with a silk suit and blood contract. While there are such contracts these are direct power for those who wish to be patrons of these dark powers; It is not required. At least not in the way you think of a contract. Anything can be seen as a contract: Using power given to you could unknowingly confirm your contract, or taking another life for example…” Raven explains, however at the thought of taking another life a more important question comes to mind.

“My uncle! Is he-”

“He is fine yes, a broken hip but otherwise fine.” She cuts you off, and you feel at least one of the fears.

It still left however your actions with whoever had kidnapped him.

“Is that what happened? I fought him and we both got possessed until one of us lost?”

She nods.

“So...am I going to be like that every time? I’m going to kill even if I do not want to?”

>>2344199

You awaken to a blistering headache, only made worse by the blinding light of the sun. Getting up you notice your nakedness and in a snap your ta’mak appears, sans the mask portion. You aren’t sure exactly where in the tower you are and you make your way towards the door.

However instead of it opening you simply slam straight into it.

Huh.

“Hello?” You call, not even sure of if your voice carries through the unmoving metal as you stare at it.

You do not know how long you have been asleep and so you continue to call ‘hello’. After another five minutes the door finally opens to reveal a slightly disheveled Robin. You are as shocked as he is, though that quickly fades as he gives you a smirk.

“Rise and shine sleeping beauty, we were almost worried you’d sleep through the whole day.” He teases, much to your confusion.

“What time is it?” You ask

“Just past noon.”

Your jaw drops however before you can speak he continues.

“Then again considering you’re up and about after your injuries that’s nothing short of incredible.” He says, stepping aside.

“Come on, let’s get you something to eat and we can get started.” He states before walking down the hall.

Huh...alright then.

I didn't even know this was a rerun, never read the original threads. The writing and concept I enjoy. Don't really want another Teen Titans quest tho, and Aunt May knowing about our powers this early is kinda meh. Otherwise great job.
>>
>>2344427
I mean the OG was in Gotham. I honestly didn't expect to be in Jump this time.
>>
>>2344419

This guy >>2344427 sums up my thoughts pretty decently. Though expand the Aunt May knowing our secret identity to the Titans and assumidly soon everyone else. Not my cup 'o noodles. Otherwise pretty alright. Definitely like the way of getting the spider powers.
>>
>>2344435
I mean, the nat 1 to teleport was you'd be dumb enough to show up in your kitchen.
>>
>>2344438
That's a fair point, but I do not recall us ever saying "oh crud, Aunt May's gonna freak. Take our mask off!" Like, I would a voted to say sorry then either leave through the front door or window, or have Raven teleport us away. Not unmask right away.
>>
>>2344438
question did we manage to grab the other guy totem or did Raven cock blocked us?And did our totem got a new face in it after we manage to grab it's powers?
>>
>>2344451
We absorbed it when we were goring him
>>
>>2344419
Do each of these totems embody a different aspect of the spider or are they different types of spider?

We started off as the hunter, now that we took that other guys one are we now embodying the hunter aspect of the spider and something else (the ambusher or something?) or do more just add to the general spiderness of the character?
>>
>>2344564
This is sorta weird to answer because there are a few powers that are unique to each totem that you will get more and more as you take more totems.
>>
>>2344705
Ahh right, think I understand. Is all of this mystical stuff part of the regular Spiderman comic too?

Not even an emissary. We're a promising understudy right now, tops.

Stepping once more into the lounge you cannot help but be baffled by the sights and smells before you. Along with a chef hat and a ‘kiss the cook’ apron Cyborg is whisking up what appears to be a batter of some kind. Though while this is strange it is also the fact that Beast Boy also seems to be cooking, or at least what he thinks flavoring tofu is as a culinary art.

“Come on grass stain, nobody can beat the joy that is waffles and bacon!” Cyborg insists, humming to himself as he sets the bowl down and moving to grease up an old school waffle iron.

“It’s noon dude! There’s no way that waffles are a good lunch meal.” He snaps back, adding what appears to be some kind of marinade to his flavorless block.

“Any time is a time for Cy-Waffles! Even RAVEN likes my waffles.” He retorts as if it is a seal of approval, pouring a bit of the batter into the iron before moving to set a frying pan beside it. “Face it BB between my waffles and crispy bacon you can’t win.”

This argument continues as you will your mask back on, leaving a cut out around your mouth. Robin had caught you off guard, as had Raven the evening before; but not everyone needed to know your face yet.

“Are they always like this?” You ask quietly, and Robin gives a chuckle.

“We might be heroes, but we’re still teenagers. So yes, they are mostly like this”

You give a nod, but watching the slowly rising stack of fluffy waffles and crackling bacon your stomach reminds you that you hadn’t eaten in nearly sixteen hours. At this point you don’t care what you’re going to eat, all you know is that there's a hole in your stomach and you needed to fill it.

By the time the two of them are done you are practically vibrating in anticipation of the meal before you. Even Starfire happily slurping down what appeared to be a bottle of mustard did not sour your appetite as two plates are set before you. Both Cyborg and Beast Boy are staring at you with expectation as you eye the two dishes before you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1HklC7fBMA

You tear into stack of waffles like they were the last food on earth. You aren’t even sure if you chew as you tear through your meal, too preoccupied are you in saying your hunger. When the haze of hunger finally fades however there is nothing but a small dab of syrup left. However you have to say between the fluffy and buttery pancakes drizzled in syrup and the salty crunch of bacon leaves you satisfied nonetheless.

The Titans however are looking at you in what you can only think is abject horror and at that you can only blush.

“Uh...excuse me.” You apologize, however instead it seems that it was a good thing as Cyborg belts out a hearty laugh.

“Eat it grass stain! Pay up!” Cyborg cheers, and you watch meekly as Beast Boy slides a twenty dollar bill across to the cybernetic African American.

Well, at least it was in good fun.

After a few more minutes of waffle cooking and bacon flipping the rest of the titans finally have their own meals eaten and Robin looks to you. “Whelp, I guess it’s time we stop delaying things and we finally find out just what you can do. Are you ready?”

“Let’s do it.” You nod, quickly getting to your feet and following the group towards the hall and into the elevator.

It is a short ride and you aren’t entirely sure of how far down it takes you and the Titans, but when it finally comes to a silent halt there is a similar hallway as that you had just left. Continuing to follow in silence you prepare yourself mentally for whatever tests are ahead of you, unsure of just what you would be capable of doing. As the group turns to a door on the left side and opens up to a large room you figure you’re about to find out.

Other than the paneled walls and floors there is a small elevated desk that the team takes a stand behind, Robin gesturing for you to stand towards the middle.

“Alright then, from what I remember you’ve got some pretty amazing reaction times so we’ll be starting there.” Robin perks up, flicking a few unseen switches as a few panels slide aside revealing a number of barrels sliding out of the wall.

“Don’t worry, it’s just paintballs, nothing dangerous. When you’re ready we’ll start them slow and speed them up until you can’t dodge them, okay?” He asks.

You nod.

You hear the slight hiss and whirr of the barrels pressurising when there's suddenly a slight ‘thisp’ as a bright yellow paintball no larger than the nail of your thumb darts towards you. Before it’s even clear of the barrel you move your head out of the way, followed by a slight sway in your torso to avoid another. This continues for another thirty seconds before you finally have to start moving from where you had started the test.

Even as the pace continues to get faster and faster you’re able to not only still see the balls clearly, but allow you to avoid them with at least an inch of space. Going into a number of flips, cartwheels, turns and other stunts you come to a stop only when the the paintballs stop.

“Dude did that just happen?” BB askes, looking at the wall and then you.

“I’m tellin you that they are set up for up to bullet velocities, that just happened.” He replies.

Hearing this you look up at the group and tilt your head. “You mean those things were at bullet speeds?” You ask, getting a series of slow nods in return.

...Well then.

“So what’s next?” You ask, already bouncing on the balls of your feet.

As if to silently answer your question the floor rumbles beneath your feet and brings up a what appears to be a treadmill. However instead of the usual nylon and plastic band it is plates of metal, more resembling a tanks treads. Looking down at it you step aboard and sure enough with a slight jerk it begins to move.

So it was time to test your speed huh? Alright then.

It starts off at first as a brisk walk but that quickly begins to change as it speeds up. Quickly you’re pushed towards running and then sprinting. It seems to go on for minutes until you finally are pushed to the limit, finally being forced off the treadmill and having to catch yourself with your webbing.

“Phew, that must have been what? Ten miles an hour?” You ask, panting and pressing your hands into your knees.

“Not quite there, you topped out at just under thirty miles an hour.” Cyborg answers.

“Get out, really?!” You exclaim, look over to the rest of the group who nod.

“Really, really Man of Spiders” Starfire promises with a smile.

Wow, you really had an upgrade.

“So we know you’re fast and you can dodge pretty well, but let’s just see where your strength puts you.” Robin insists and you watch as the ceiling splits open and a hybrid of pull up bar and barbell descend until it is just above your head.

“It’s simple enough just hold the bar up and it’ll get progressively heavier. When you can’t hold it up anymore the test is over.” Cyborg tells you and you nod, stepping beneath the strange contraption.

Gripping the bar you immediately feel the bar press down on your arms, though amusingly it doesn’t feel like much. This sensation of pressure but no weight continues to go on for a number of minutes before it finally begins to start to strain you. At first it is like what maybe five or ten pounds would feel like, sure you could feel it wear you down but if this was only ten pounds you’d be here all day at this rate.

Ten minutes later and it certainly feels much more intense, and not even thirty seconds into the fifteen minutes of stress that you finally start to buckle beneath the weight and it finally stopped.

“Jesus that must have been a ton.” You groan, rubbing your biceps to get the slight soreness out of them.

“Uh...a bit more than that actually…” Robin states, turning the monitor to reveal that you had in fact lifted Seventy Thousand Pounds.

Thirty five tons...Jeez Louise.

“So what now? There can’t be much more I can test is there?” You ask, only for your senses to go off and you tilt your head out of the way of a birdarang. Diving into a roll you hear the metallic ‘thwang’ of something colliding with the ground you had occupied.

Turning to face the opponent you see sure enough that Robin had lept from the observation deck and attempted to strike you.

“My favorite part: combat testing.” he says, giving his bo-staff a twirl before holding it behind him.

Seeing him give you the ‘come hither’ hand gesture that was so famous within kung-fu films you knew that it was on.

You were faster and stronger and your webbing was to your advantage, and in the moment it is the only thing that kept you unharmed in the opening barrage of staff strikes and kicks. Flipping back you fire a spurt of webs at the teen only to have it deflected it with his staff, only for the staff to be stuck to the floor. Sighing in relief you yelp however as a heavier birdarang sails towards you before exploding in a flash of light and sound.

You vision is nothing but pure white but that is nothing compared to the agony that your ears are in. It’s almost as if the sound was reverberating through your very soul and you don’t even know why. Leaping back you feel the wall press against your back and when your vision clears you see that your totem has gone from it’s usual black, red and blue to a technicolor nightmare.

What the hell had happened? No matter. You could still fight.

You spring from the wall like a rocket, twisting between a trio of birdarangs, these too exploding in a bang and flash. Though with you having shot ahead of them they worry you little, even as the pain of the sound drives through you like a nail. Watching your costume go through what you could only consider an acid drop of colors for a moment and can only wonder if the noise was harming the thing. That however is pushed to the back as you land, hand springing into a kick that Robin dodges, only managing to brush against his short cape.

Immediately the area around you is clouded in a plume of smoke, the hissing of a smoke bomb near your head.

“Cy, Situation 16!” Robin calls and as you rush out of the cloud and after the voice you find the room is dark and in the air around you you hear the slight ‘clang’ of something in the dark around you. While your eyes take time to adjust you instead turn to your senses, allowing them to guide you. At first there is little but the creek of metal and flutter of fabric.

Robin is above you, but where you do not know.

Leaping up your senses shoot your hands forward, catching what feels to be a parallel bar. Swinging atop it you hear the slight whistle of something and begin to sway.

Limply falling back below the bar you loosely grip it, swinging into the dark. As your eyes continue to fail you your other senses only continue to sharpen. The smell of deodorant, the beating of a heartbeat and the texture of the inlayed bars; All of them become your eyes as the picture of the universe around you begins to make sense. Firing off a web into the dark you can see it in your mind clearly, the subtle vibrations traveling through your arm, the web itself and all the way to the tip of it.

And when it connects that picture only becomes clearer, and you know what you have to do.

You move in a frenzy, leaping and swinging and firing webs all around the room. There are some close calls of course as you have to twist and halt before birdangs and bombs of frost and yet more flashbangs. But when it is done your senses are clear as you sit above your web you cannot help but laugh, obfuscating the world for a moment.

“What’s so funny Spider-Man? Afraid of the dark?” You hear, and below you you feel the web shake, tremble beneath your feet as the vibrations of the teens steel boots tap against the bars they are strung to.

You smirk.

So The Spider-Man can dodge bullets, lift 35 tons and run at 30 miles an hour? He's probably about mid level metahuman equivalent at this point, unless he gets more power as he wins the Spider-lander.

>>2350962
He's mid tier just absorving another spider man. Also apparently our clothes work like the symbiots and are weak against sonic attacks. Maybe that's a way to acquire totens without killing the user?

Turning to stare into the dark you can feel the vibrations stop, however the drum of his heartbeat is loud and clear.

“What darkness? I can see you clear as day.” You tease, launching yourself from your web perch and towards the boy. Missing your initial punch you begin to tumble over but grip the pole he was perched on, swinging a top it; More amazed that you could even perform the action you barely avoid the punch he throws at you, ducking below it only to bring your hands in front of your face and blocking a knee to the face.

Well that wasn’t nice.

Pushing the limb back you press forward, wrapping your arms around the teen and forcing both of you from the perch and hurtling towards the ground. It is a short time before you finally hit the ground and almost by instinct you reach behind you, pulling your blade from your shoulder you slide it just below his chin.

“Yield.”

“Yield.” Robin says, and in a flash the lights come on.

You wince as the light meets your eyes and it occurs to you that there’s a pregnant pause. Getting to your feet you see that both Cyborg and Beast Boy are shocked, their mouths agape as Starfire quickly flies to the Boy Wonders’ side. You offer a hand to the teen and he thankfully accepts it, and after a moment he gives a soft chuckle.

“You know, I’ve gotta say I’m surprised. If it weren’t for your reflexes I would have had you.” He insists and you shrug.

“Honestly, I don’t know, it’s sort of like a sixth sense…” You offer.

“What do you mean?”

Do you explain?

You pause, as to be honest you weren’t exactly sure what it was yourself. By every account it was just a sort of tingle of warning and then if you let yourself embrace it you’d just...avoid things.

“It’s just sort of...a feeling I guess? A tingle of warning and when I let it control my actions I just sort of...avoid harm.” You shrug and you see the boy wonder grimace, stroking his chin in thought.

“Alright, let’s test something then.” He says, quickly removing his cape and promptly throws it over your head.

“Cy, start up the reflex test again. I want to see if he’s serious.” Robin states, and sure enough you start hearing the panels shift and the hiss of pressurized air.

Sure enough your body begins to move on its on, swaying and bending out of the way of unseen projectiles. After maybe a minute the tingling stops and after slowly peeling the cape off your head you see that sure enough you dodged the projectiles with ease.

“Dude that’s like some kinda Spider-sense man.” Beast Boy exclaims and again you shrug.

“I wouldn’t be too sure of that, all I know is that like I said; I get a tingle and it protects me.” You reply.

“Regardless I think this test has been good, an eye opening experience if anything else.” Robin chimes in. “You’re strong, fast, and can doge pretty much anything on a good day. You’ve got all the power you could ever need to be a hero and I think I can say with confidence that all of us would be happy to induct you into our team. That is, if you’d like to be a part of it.” He states, pulling from his belt a small yellow and black device the size of your palm.

That was...fast.

I just started out, can't be getting into a team already, would completely eat up most of my public exposure if I'm swinging around with the Titans from the start, I've got my life too, so I'll be going solo for now.
I'm open for one of those temp super hero team up events writers do to try and bring up comic sales though, that'd be sweet.

Yes, let’s be like Bats, who while nominally being one of the Justice League’s Big Seven, tends to go off and do his own Bat-things.

Besides, during the Spider-lander, we might hurt or kill someone and that’s probably something the TTs might not be able to handle.
>>
We should reference highlander and go do solo things
>>
>>2351374

You look at the small device and you feel your heart stop. This was a dream that you had had when you were younger; Hell it was probably every kids dream to one day be a hero and now it was there, staring you in the face. And yet even as you stood there something hit you dead in the chest.

Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

You couldn’t just accept a hero’s life, or at least not the way they wanted you to. At least Aunt May knew, and if she knew Uncle Ben would find out soon enough. If you left them now, and joined the Titans permanently you’d be giving them up; Them and everyone you had grown up with. You’d be running away and potentially leaving them in danger.

“I can’t.” You say, pushing the communicator back to him. “There’s still so much I have to finish, high school, graduation, college.” You continue in response to the unending silence.

“I’ll protect Jump, I just can’t do it as a Titan. I’m sorry.”

With your rejection out there the silence becomes deafening. Beast Boy looks genuinely saddened at the news, and you can see the almost hairline frown on both Cyborg and Raven’s faces. Starfire looks almost in tears and Robin’s face is unreadable. Whatever the Boy Wonder is thinking you aren’t sure if it is good or bad.

“I understand.Regardless it is yours. Because when there’s trouble you’ll at least have someone you can call.” Robin insists, pressing the communicator into your palm.

You nod quietly, pressing it to your suit only to watch it get consumed by the costume and promptly vanish to wherever you presume your clothes went. It was certainly nice to ensure you had friends in high places, but you hoped you would never need to use it. You smile at the gesture, however with your mask on it is a moot gesture.

“I...guess I should go check on my Uncle, huh? With all this testing I almost forgot he’s in the hospital.” You say and as if expecting this outcome you hear something shimmer behind you, a black portal is hovering in the air behind you.

“It will take you to the hospital rooftop, you should be fine from there.” Raven states as if to answer the unformed question.

“Alright...thank you again.” You insist before turning and stepping through it.

The purple and orange of the sunset meets your eyes first as you breathe in the slightly chilled air of the world around you. It was certainly a strange day to be sure, but no matter strange it was you had to say it had been perhaps the most eye opening of your life. You weren’t just Alexander White anymore, you were something more.

You were Spider-Man.

You’re just about to hop down to the street when your hand shoots behind you and grabs something. The action alone was a strange thing in itself, as the portal behind you was still open and so whatever it had to be something from the tower itself. Bringing your hand forward you discover that it’s a note on what appears to be white parchment.

Who the hell uses parchment nowadays?

Opening the note you find a number hastily scribbled down as well as a note:

’The Titans do not know about your problem. If you need a more subtle hand do not hesitate to call me- Raven’

Well then, that was something.

Tearing the note up you will your costume away, barely grabbing the Titans Communicator before walking toward the lip. You had enough hero-ing for one day, your uncle was awaiting you. Shooting a web to the adjacent building you swing your way down into an alleyway, once more just another face in the crowd.

"I swore I was done with my past, stuck in the searing desert balancing the pros and cons on death by heatstroke versus corspe bomb in the middle of the road in in the war. Now my nephew is growing up in a world of monsters, aliens and people in costume tearing at each other, heck, today I got caught up in a fight between these freaks, wrong time wrong place and Alex can be dead; field trip gets Hijacked by crazy clown or some mad man tries to take over the city. With great power, comes great responsibility, if you are able to do good then you have an obligation to do so, it's not a question of morality, but duty, cleaning these streets to protect my nephew and May, as well as the rest of the innocent people in this city, sounds like a hell of a lot of good, it's time the common man rouse up, no more waiting on a hero who'll just beat a man and let the police toss them in jail for them to break out again and repeat."

I would gladly have a Punisher Uncle Ben. He could be a great foil for Alex, who may go towards the 'killing is bad' path, while Ben is the 'don't give 'em a second shot' path. You could even have Aunt May dying be the trigger that get's them both on the path to hero/anti-hero.
