Last time, we divvied up our loot from the sack of MoonBend village, got to THOROUGHLY know our feisty new thrall Keera and got extremely drunk after making a new friend. We were named friend of Giants by Bur-Lun and decided that discretion is the better part of valor, hauling ads BACK to the Crag to resupply and rearm.

You stand at the mouth of the mountain pass that leads home, taking a deep, grateful breath of the clean, crisp air. The many miles of the road from MoonBend to here had been tiring, just one step ahead of the local lords response to MoonBends sacking. You adjust one of the shoulder straps to your pack and pull Keera along, the exhausted girl plodding along half asleep. The fading daylight catches the peaks and casts dazzling shadows, stretching long and far like the talons of some great beast.

"Fuckin' hate the trip back up here. Ya get used to the air down there and ya come up here and its like gettin' 'alf strangled!"
He grouses, taking a hefty pull from his waterskin, face red as beet.

Wren leans easily against a rock, picking his fingers with a knife, the quiet scout master seemingly unaffected by terrain or temperature
"Haven't you done this near half a hundred times Urhost? You'd think you would be used to it by now"
He rasps with a small smirk.

Urhost nods, leaning with his hands on his knees
"I used t'be! Damn im getting old. Can't go runnin' up and down the damn mountain every time I want some ass or a fight anymore"
He coughs heavily, pushing himself upright.

You look back as Bur-Lun and his mammoth herd and giant, excitable son finally fade from view, the giant having wished you all well and informed Urhost of the pass his clan had taken shelter in for the next few weeks. There were offers of more mammoth cheese and even of a beverage Urhost warned you was "foul stuff, even for those big bastards. Might bloody kill you"

Approaching the crag in a staggered line, you smile as some hidden watcher blows a horn three times, signaling the return of a raiding party. There's no telling how many eyes are upon you. Wren trains the watchers and scouts well it seems.

Entering the split peak, home of the Crag Wolves and ancient stronghold is refreshing. You watch as children and wives greet returning father's and husbands while young men boast and clap friends on the back.

You take note of several women who watch the returning group carefully, some wiping away small tears or setting their jaw stoically as they fail to spot their fallen men.

Keera sags against you, nearly dead on her feet and you scoop her up, holding her like a child as she sleepily nuzzles her head into your neck and hair.
"Arrrrewethereyet..."
She mumbles, her eyes refusing to open of their own accord.

You chuckle firefly and pat her soft rear, making her grumble
"Yes my kitten. Welcome to your new home"

Deciding that you shouldn't go about any business with a slightly snoring thrall thrown over your shoulder you decide to take her and your loot to your home and make sure your other Thralls are adjusting well.

Making your way along the path carved into the side of the Crag you step to the side, allowing a reunited and amorous couple to dart past you, red faced and grinning. Shaking your head good naturedly you tap the stone of the opening to your dwelling, hearing a confused voice from within
"Huh? Um... Who.. Who is it?"
You smile at Mylea's cautious tone and sweep the bearskin flap aside, stepping inside theatrically. Ysolde is laying on your bed, curled into a ball and sleeping while Mylea sits next to her, looking up at you with a cautious but seemingly genuine smile
"Magnus! You're back! Urhost brought us here and told us to clean up and make sure everything was "nice and presentable" and so we did and Shalla came by and talked to us and shes so nice and she showed us around and..."
Mylea babbles, wringing her hands and crossing them across her large chest as you look around the large cave. To her credit it does look much cleaner, the floor swept, the furs dusted out and your meagre possessions neatly organized.

Ysolde grips the fur blanket tightly and rolls against the wall, mumbling in her sleep. Mylea looks to her, brushing her hair back from her cheek as you set Keera down next to her, the exhausted young thief instinctively curling against the sleeping Ysolde

You laugh as Mylea blushes furiously, looking down as she bites a plump lip. She looks up at you, her blue eyes large and a small smile on her full lips
"I-im sure I could learn... If that's what you want..."

You allow yourself a lustful grab of Mylea's deliciously plump rear and appreciate the view down her straining top for a moment before setting her aside (to a unhappy pout) digging through your pack
"I brought you and Ysolde presents, gifts for good behavior."
You say to her confused pout, her long blonde curls framing her face. She gasps in shock as you pull out a small handful of rings, necklaces and amulets, the small pile of gold probably more value than her family saw in a month. She looks incredulously at you before leaping at you in a hug, burying her face in your neck and smothering your cheek and throat in kisses
"Oh thank you Magnus they're so pretty ohmysaints they're beautiful thankyouthankyouthankyou!!"
She squeals as you lift her up easily, laughing softly as she wriggles her hands free, trying on a small silver necklace, the delicate rose pendant nearly lost in the deep valley of her chest
"Oh its just so PRETTY!"
She giggles, hugging your neck again
"Thank you Magnus! Ill help Ysolde pick something! Her father didnt give her jewelry like mine! He just gave her new ales he named after her!"

Setting the energetic and thoroughly placated Mylea down she immediately plops down and begins inspecting the jewelry and trinkets, oohing and ahhhing at each new piece. She looks up at you with a mischevious smile and bites her lip
"Ill have to repay you somehow!"
You very nearly have to adjust yourself as you smile and step back out of your dwelling, Mylea promising to look through your small hoard and get it all put away.

Didn't we leave the greatsword behind because touching it gave us frost damage?
>>
>>2344669
No, Falhim carried it back, he just got some mild frostbite when he initially picked it up. The magic is for the most part gone
>>
>>2344672

Could we have it smelted to a liquid form, then reshaped into a new head for our battlespear?
>>
>>2344682
Why yes anon. Yes you could.
>>
>>2344687

Fantastic. Say we were to do so, how much material would remain, and how much, if any, better would the black-steel head be than the previous iron?
>>
>>2344682
Our battlespear is entirely metal based on its description with its shaft and blade being all one solid piece, so if we melt down the great sword we will just reforge the greatsword into a battlespear
>>
>>2344617
Didn't we have around 200L counting thralls? ;-;
>>
>>2344706

I figure it'd be better to do that than keep the greatsword, since we can make use of the battlespear.

>>2344710

Our warband has that much, 88L is our share of it.
>>
Hey QM what benefits do using certain weapons give us? So far the most relevant aspect of our weapons is their size category or am I just forgetting something you said before?
>>
While we're waiting for WarlordQM to return, let's discuss something that occured to me last thread. What are we going to do when our thralls get knocked up, and what we plan to do with the resulting children?
>>
>>2345003
Honestly feel like it's a bit soon for kids, we should talk to Shalla about some sort of contraceptive/abortifacient
>>
>>2344746
Additonal damage die at the cost of attack die. Magnus is huge which allows him 2-3 swings with great weapons (the same number of normal weapons) and each successful hit gets 2 damage die)
>>
>>2345024
>>2345003
Just get take some herabls teas that stop it
Or just have the ladys take care of the kids
And rise themboys get into the pit girls idk get training
>>
>>2344706
The shaft is reinforced with iron strips and rivets but is still wooden. You could reforge the Darkmoon greatsword into a new head.
>>2344704
The resulting BlackSteel battle spear would get an additional damage die for its inherent frost damage or armor negation
>>
>>2345056
I'd like to use the Darkmoon Greatsword as it is.
>>
>>2345056
>>2345084
I think we should reforge our hammer if we have spare materials, why not have more options
>>
>>2345044
No what I mean is what's the difference between using a warhammer or a sword or a spear beyond the different damage types? are there any unique attributes like bonus damage to certain targets, default armor piercing you know something like that.
>>
>>2345024

That's a great idea, but I was also thinking, eventually we're going to want as many sub-badasses to carry on our legacy as possible, and it's best to start churning them out as soon as possible, while our thralls are still in the narrow ten-year peak-fertility window, so they're matured by the time we're in our fifties and sixties. If we're impregnating 3 women at a time, assuming there are minimal difficulties with ensuing childbirths, that's +3 children a year, not counting any future thralls we're going to pick up, which will add up quickly. By the time we're old, we might have enough offspring to found our own familial tribe or honor guard.

I don't think children are such a bad idea, since we can alternate between pregnant and fertile thralls and they'll keep them preoccupied with motherhood while we're off raiding. Once they're old enough to, we send them off to Barbas or the equivalent to get trained, and we reimpregnate their mother to repeat the process. We'll use our pillaged wealth to expand our cave into seperate rooms, one for us and any thralls we're having intercourse with, one for fertile thralls we aren't having intercourse with, and one for pregnant thralls and their children. Eventually, we'll have grandfathered a small, very large tribe and hopefully, will have cemented ourselves in mythology as a mythical badass by the time old age claims us.
>>
>>2345097
Ah. Hmm.... Well nothing really at the moment. Base weapons kind of all function the same for ease of QM'ing. Its when you start upgrading weapons that they get really useful characteristics
>>
>>2345108
Anon out here planning out a future complete with implementation rooms. Well done
>>
>>2345084

I disagree, the sword is a typically balanced muscle/finesse dependent weapon, and Magnus' fighting style is 80-90% muscle and 10-20% dirty tricks, I don't think it would fit, and since we've already killed people with the battlespear, I'm inclined to improve it rather than replace it entirely with a moonie corpse's blade.
>>
>>2345112

How high is the child lethality rate amongst the Crag Wolves? I'm assuming most tribals aren't celebate and tend to have large families, but despite having a stable food source, the tribe's only nine-hundred strong, when they've been explicitly stated to have a relatively long, storied history, which leads me to believe there's either a high childhood death rate, or there's only limited space in the Crag before part of the younger generation leaves to found/join another tribe.
>>
>Speak with Throth

You decide that business must always come before pleasure and turn your feet to the upwards path, to the lair of The Old Wolf.

As you walk the narrow, switchbacking path, the chill wind of the coming night whipping at your hair and whistling in your ears, you feel a presence in the faint whispers that always lurk just behind you. For the briefest of moments you feel like a mouse under the gaze of some enormous eagle, a sheep under the wing of a dragon. A voice like the grinding of mountains speaks once in your ear and the presence fades away like smoke.

>"Worthy....."

You shiver, looking around and shake your head as goosebumps crawl up your spine, stopping before the entrance to Throths home. The Chieftans lair offers a fantastic view of the surrounding area and you take a deep breath as you enjoy the scenery.

"Come in."
Comes Throths bass tone, the Chieftan of the Crag Wolves sounding, as always, vaguely irritated.

You shrug and step inside the warm confines of the cave, relishing the scent of roasting meat coming from a entire haunch of some unknown meat sizzling on a spit over the bed of coals. Throth sits bare chested on his stone throne, his hand resting on the pommel of his massive greatsword, staring into the coals his plump, greying wife Sheema stirs with a metal poker. She smiles pleasantly, waving you over to sit on one of the wooden stools, pointing toward a roughly forged kettle with some form of tea steaming within it.
"Oh hello Magnus! Good to see you! Sit! Sit! The foods almost ready and there's some FrostMint tea there if you're thirsty! The nights chilly so drink dear I insist!"
She waddles over, patting your arm happily as Throth rolls his eyes, smirking softly as his wife treats you like an overgrown child.

"Enough Sheena, have some pity on the man!"
He laughs as she begins lecturing you on how you should trim your hair and beard and look respectable and by the way, Shalla was asking after you and she wasn't promised to anyone dont you know, you could do far worse than a woman who knew her herbs. Sheena scowls at her bald, bearded husband good naturedly and pats your cheek as she makes her way over to sit by her husband, resting her arm on his. Throth nods at you, gesturing with his hand
"You have a report for me Magnus?"

>What tell him.
>>
>>2345126
In real life swords are finese weapons. I mean yeah a swords overall shape and weight means that its armor piercing ability is complete shit and requires either precise hits at unarmored or lightly armored weakpoints to kill opponents, but we can probably make a sword that has more of a wedge like cutting edge thats both very heavy and durable. In real life such a sword would be unsuable, but this a sword and sorcery fantasy setting and our character is fucking huge, so its totally within reason at least within the context of the quest.
>>
>>2345154
Hit it on the head with that last part. A fair number of the young men either die in combat or leave to join or start new tribes. There is a decently low child mortality rate but once they head out into the world the fatality rate skyrockets. The Crag can actually support the population of a small town, being a cave riddled natural fortress with a small nearby, lush valley

This, but be sure to mention how we dueled and handily defeated their strongest warriors in mortal combat, and slaughtered two squads of guardsmen single-handedly. >>2345108

I think this is a good idea, if our thralls aren't bearing our children they might as well be masturbatory aids, and in a few decades, having an enormous horde of our own sons and grandsons at our backs sounds tribal and legendary as hell. I think we should look into somehow getting Keera sterilized, if that's possible, for three reasons, 1) we don't want *relatively* manlet sons, 2) we want to keep her tiny body as tight as possible, 3) and easily transportable, so we'll have a bedwarmer on our campaigns.

That seems kinda wierd and as a barbarian warlord we'll more or less resemble great conquerors like ghenghis motherfucking khan, who pretty much procreated with every female who caught his eye. There are ways to avoid pregnancy with keera if we want to keep her as a bedwarmer, and we don't need to sterilze her I mean to be honest most of our offspring probably won't be as absolutely massive as wee are and if we become a hero and gain the hereditary badassery it won't matter anyway..

If Ghengis Khan could pull off 2% of the global population with an above average asian penis, Arch Magnus' meathammer can to. >>
>>2345466
Fuck if I know that's a question for the QM, but I'd guess pretty substantial, Throth is a chieften that has accomplished the feat of reaching old age the amount of women he's despoiled is probably in the hundreds and he has probably had or has at least a dozen concubines or wives.

He's chieftain for a reason, and I wouldn't wager the position's hereditary. He might be one of those hero-descendents whose ancestry manifested in ungodly martial talent and prowess, instead of inhuman strength and size. I respect him enough I'd rather not duel him for the right to rule the tribe, instead, we should assemble a warband and conquer another, lesser tribe, or, less likely, wait for him to die of old age.

"Yes Chieftan"
You incline your head and get comfortable, taking a sip of the flagrantly sweet Frostmint tea. The warmth soaks into your bones and you sigh, licking your lips and leaning forward, your elbows on your knees.
"Well as we were on the way down to the valley itself we came across a giant, his son and his herd of mammoths. His name was Bur-Lun of the Far Walkers and after Urhost translated he agreed to come with us in exchange for some metal scrap for their smiths"

Throth nods and rubs his beard as you pause and gives you a proud smile
"The Far Walkers are a proud tribe. Their Chieftan Vol-Sum is a great warrior among their people. Continue"
Throth waves his hand at you and you plow on

"Once we got down to the valley, I led my men along the edge of the forest along a small road, figuring roads lead to villages. We came upon the town of Rhya's hill and fell up on it during the night, slaying every man who fought. I personally fought a veteran soldier, a pair of the village sheriffs bodyguards and the coward himself, beating them all handily. We took a great quantity of food and animals along with several Thralls. I claimed a pair of the more attractive ones and sent them along with the food along with Urhost to speed our travel"

Throth nods sagely, looking at Sheema affectionately
"A sound plan. Get the loot back here instead of letting it slow you down. Ive seen the girls as Shalla showed them the Crag, lovely choices my boy. Lovely"

Sheema points at you, wagging a finger fiercely
"You be gentle with those two! Especially the blonde, the sweet girl! She asked me if we had any ovens where she could bake. Apparently its a hobby of hers"

Sheema looks ready to plow on into a long winded story but Throth shushed her, waving his hand at you.
You clear your throat, soldiering on.
"After evading the patrols of Lancers thanks to Week's expertise, we arrived outside the village of MoonBend. Unfortunately our scouts were tracked back to us by a small group of Lancers who attacked our camp but were easily fought off and slaughtered to a man"
Throth waves you on wordlessly as Sheema pats his arm.

"We attacked the Village during midday, surprising them with their gates open and many men on the water. We fought our way through their gates and I personally took on two squads of guards along with the captain of the guard. I took his saber as a trophy as I gave him a warriors death. Unfortunately, they were able to evacuate as we fought our way through the village and many potential Thralls escaped. After resting and treating our wounded..."

Throth laughs, holding up a hand
"You mean drinking, fighting and fucking everything that walks? I was a raider once my boy you dont need to lie to me"

You grin abashedly and shake your head
"After recovering from the night, we packed up our take, many fine tools and goods and a great many Thralls, we returned home, seeking not to test the response of the local Moon Lord."

I noticed that you mentioned a tribe by name. So what are our prospects which tribes would be mot receptable to a tribal confederation.
>>
>>2345466
Throth, in his younger days, had a Harem of Dozens. As he aged and the fire in his balls faded a bit, he freed and gifted them till only his first and favored wife remained. Not the loveliest or the most fertile but the one who loved him back. Throth has several sons and many daughters

I think we should go for another moonie village pillage-spree first, but after that, we should definitely look into raiding another tribe.

>>2345558

I support this, let's relinquish the blade of an elder warrior to another, so he has an appropriate momento of when we began our conquest of the Valley of the Moon. Let's not mention it right now though, we'll give it to him the night before we leave to raid, because the spirits dig symbolism.
>>

"Careful you dont hurt yourself Magnus"
He chuckles and you can't can't help but smile at the Chieftan's jab

"There are a lot of smaller tribes around here. With the Moon Lords eyes on the valley, it may be a good idea to focus on them for a bit instead of their villages. Do you have any suggestions as to which ones to go after?"
You ask, clasping your hands with your elbows on your knees as you lean forward

Throth snorts, nodding to himself and giving Sheema a look
"Hes got the itch now... Well let me think .. You've got the Stone Bears and the Black Hands down to the south, The Sky-Watchers, Wyrm-Killers and Cliff Men to the east, The Wave-Hunters, Frost-Bears and Troll-Slayers to the North and the Blood Axes and Cave Stalkers relatively nearby. None of them still follow the old accords so you can hit them to your hearts content. Bring them into the fold if you can, kill them and take their property if you can't"
Throth leans back, drumming his fingers on the Kimmel of his sword.

Putting aside thoughts of sleep you decide that getting Duergir's opinion on the spirits most definitely speaking to you is of serious import. Grateful for the tea warmimg your body you make your way back down the crag's pockmarked face.

Smoke and sparks drift upwards from Cookfires and a smoldering bonfire, several groups of warriors and members of the tribe sitting around it comfortably. You wish you could spare the time to join them but business calls and you duck into the shadowy crevice leading to Duergirs cave.

Immediately your nose is assaulted by the smell of some strange incense, the smoke hanging in the air like mist. The faint clatter of vials and the relentless smack of a pestle echoes from the walls as you step into the chamber, the luminescent fungi and fat, guttering candles. Duergir sits at his bench and pounds away at a mixture, grinding it into a dark oil. Strange, unearthly looking ingredients sit around the shamans mortar. large claws, strange crystals, vials of blood and extractions, faintly glowing powders. The shamans hands pause for a moment in their work.
"Sit."
His ancient voice echoes like the verdict of a god as you immediately obey, Duergirs tone and the near frantic energy of his movements disturbing you.

"Did the spirits speak to you Duergir? Is that the reason for..."
You gesture to the shamans manic activity at his bench
"This"

Duergir turns toward you, his eyes wide behind the veil of white hair, his beard hanging to his belt and braided with herbs and small totems, a large, almost crazed smile on his face
"Yes Magnus! Yes! And not just any spirit! Not some simple elemental or bored old shaman... No... Someone I have wished to speak with for decades..."
Duergir goes back to pounding the mixture, black droplets *sizzling* on the leather cover of the Stone bench.

You mean forward, your eyes nearly as wide as Duergirs
"Who spoke with you Duergir. Who came to speak with you?"

Duergir laughs, a short, almost pained bark like the cracking of a dry branch and looks sidelong at you, his eyes glittering
"You already know... He has spoken to you as well... Ahahaha.....you already know..."

You grit your teeth in shock as you remember the ghostly warrior who came to you in your dream, the voice on the mountain path. You look at Duergir in shock
"Who?!"
You choke out

Duergir laughs madly, turning to look at you fully
"Vall..."

Make the most bloodthirsty smile our ugly mug can make and ask "What does the mighty Vall ask of me?"

You smile, your heart pounding in your chest like a giants war drum
"What... What does the mighty Vall ask of me?"

Duergir slams the mortar down one more time and stands, picking the bowl up carefully. He sets it down next to you and looks at you with eyes widened by excitement and something very near awe
"He... He judged you worthy. Worthy of carrying on his work. Worthy.... of carrying on his bloodline! He named you... YOU, worthy of a portion of his power! He who fought his way from man to god! Now STRIP and lay back!"

You obey, your mind struck numb by Duergirs words. The ancient shaman hums to himself as you pull off your shirt, laying back on the skin padded stone table. Duergir pulls out a vial of some strange dye, dipping a shard of carved ivory into it and tracing long, curling lines on your skin, the liquid tingling as it stains your skin. You inhale deeply as the incense smolders, the scent changing to that of blood and sweat, hot metal and ozone, strong liquor and sex. A presence stands over you as Duergir pulls from his robes an ancient, ornate stone dagger, its hilt a single curved fang. Duergir smiles widely and lays a single, cool finger on your chest, his long, chipped nail digging into your skin.
"He told me to carve his mark into your flesh and he would empower you with his own strength if you accept it."

You don't even need to think, your mind racing with the implications, the last hero to be chosen by Vall was Khurak the Mountain King, Slayer of the Black When.
"I accept"

Duergir places the tip of the impossibly sharp blade against your pectoral, licking his dry lips nervously
"Lets begin then..."

>>
>>2346184
>other: rune of the legand slayer, when fighting in one on one combat your crit chance is higher and the likelihood of the opposition critically failing is raised.
>>
>>2346184
Hmmmm. In my opinion the more specialized runes can wait (like the storm dragon, great eagle, and wyrm), but since we will almost certainly be in lots of combat both now and in the future my choice would be narrowed down to Giant, troll, and ironskin. Conquest is also good, but we want to avoid dieing as best we can.

Ironskin is really nice, but we can probably upgrade our armor once we get done here, so that can wait until maybe our next rune.

Troll is also good, but 10hp isn't a whole lot and I imagine the real paydirt will be an upgraded version of troll. It too can wait.

Giant seems like the best option as we already have an upgrade so we get a total of +20 to strength checks, but we also get a total of 200hp and 1d100 additional damage on a hit. In terms of raw mechanical benefit and compliance with our fighting style this rune is a must have especially if we want to improve our survivability and damage output.

>Rune of The Giant. Your strength increases further into the realm of myth. Strength checks get +10 and your hp increase by +50. Gain another attack die with great and Ultra weapons.
>>

The sheer amount of benefits it provides is really hard to say no to. Become a tougher and stronger tank who hits harder.

On the other hand

>Rune of The Troll-Gain the ability of the hard-dying trolls to heal wounds in battle. Recover 10HP each round of combat.

Is what I vote for.

Means we fully heal for free when taking a breather in between battles. On top of active combat health regeneration. Which makes killing us REALLY hard.

Most importantly we won't have the weaknesses of a troll. It doesn't matter if we get hit by fire, acid, or light. We can still regenerate just fine. If later on, we attempt to acquire this same blessing it will likely involve hunting some trolls and we may inherit their weaknesses as well.

Later gaining the Giant Rune meanwhile we wouldn't have to worry about those possible penalties and we are currently befriending the giants. This could mean having an easier time getting it on our own and...maybe even a STRONGER version.

Just IMAGINE what the giant version is that the giants use for themselves or possibly their allies?

I really wanna see what we can get from the giants themselves.

Damn, this is happening much faster than I'd expected. That said, we cannot pass up the opportunity to double our strength, and boost our health by a fourth, not to mention the damage boost.

Imagine this, ON TOP of the Ritual of the Mountain King? +30 strength? We could wrestle a small giant, let alone normal humans!
>>
>>2346350

The giant version of the rune is probably giant, and too large to do properly on Magnus. Besides that, would Magnus the character, as we've been playing him, choose mild regeneration, or to outright double his strength?
>>
>>2346510
I think Magnus would prefer staying in the heat of battle for longer. Getting extremely strong is nice and all, but we dont need it if we are slain in combat
>>
giant increase our hp and damage while troll and good plate armor set let us fight forever tough choice
>>
>>2346184
In this order, I think we should go for
>Giant (because we're the biggest and the strongest and we don't even exercise)
>Troll (because we need to survive all these one-vs-all fights)
>Ironskin (see above)
>Eagle (because being the strongest is great, but precision will make our strength that much deadlier)
> >>2346226 (because 1v1ing enemy heroes is great)
>Conquest (because we WILL be the greatest of Khans, and our men should benefit)

So, this time around, I vote for

>Giant
>>
>>2346544

I disagree, the rune of the giant will have us well on our way to shattering castle gates with a single blow of our hammer, and if we can do that, our place in legend is assured. Aside from slaying knights like peasants, the rune will also boost our survivability, albeit to a lesser degree, by allowing us to wear heavier armor with less encumberance, and boosting our health to double an ordinary man's. I only feel like +10 HP a turn is too small a benefit to pass up an enormous up-front boost to our fighting ability, though I see where you're coming from.

Youve been cut before. Youve had your flesh pierced and slashed by blades and arrows. Youve been burned and half frozen, even nearly drowned once or twice. You're no stranger to pain.

But this is different.

You very nearly howl in agony as the ancient ritual dagger passes easily through the flesh of your chest like a razor through butter. The wound, its edges so clean and sharp, impossibly remains bloodless as Duergir works, marking your flesh with the stylized, angular rune in the shape of a giants snarling face.

The presence standing over you shifts, the sensation changing. You can *feel* an arm extending and a single massive finger presses invisibly against the bloodless rune.

>"Take.... My..... Power....."
The voice rumbles in your mind as white hot lightning arcs behind your eyes, every tendon and muscle in your body clenching to the point your bones creak. Your back bows upward as you scream soundlessly. Its full body agony, blissful relief, its burning and freezing you. The sweetest and cruelest sensation you'd ever felt.

And suddenly its gone.

You fall back against the stone table as the presence of Vall fades away like smoke. Duergir places his hand over your forehead, reciting some guttural incantation as he dips the shard of ivory into the bubbling black oil. You're so weak and burned out you barely even feel as it hisses and steams in the rune carved into your chest. Sealing the deep incisions shut, Duergir places the bowl down and staggers away, the energy drained from his body. He flicks his hand to you as he collapses against a pile of dusty skins, groaning tiredly
"Go boy... Rest.... And let me do the same...."
He groans, already half asleep.

You weakly stand, looking down at the black rune carved into your chest. The wound is already, impossibly healed, resembling some strange, angular tattoo instead of a puckered scar. You hold your shirt in your hand and stagger weakly from Duergirs abode, relishing the clean air of the crag as the suddenly overwhelming incense fades away.

You stand in the common area of the crag, your every muscle itching vaguely and a strange heat moving throughout your body. You don't know exactly yet what has been done to you but you can guess.

>Sleepytimes

You stagger near drunkenly to your dwelling, leaning heavily on the stone face of the crag as you do. You cough, shaking your head as exhaustion creeps into the edges of your vision, a faint rushing in your ears.

Flicking open the bearskin flap you step inside the comfortable warmth of your dwelling. Lit only by the slim sliver of moonlight and the faintly glowing coals of your small fire pit you strip, feeling your way to the pile of furs that have served well as a bed. Your palm slides along soft, bare skin and you hear a sleepy giggle.
"Oh.. I..I was worried you had forgotten about me"
Mylea snuggles against you as you maneuver onto the bed. You quickly arrange yourself in the center, Keera and Ysolde under each arm and Mylea claiming her spot on your chest, nuzzling her face into your neck.

Any other day you would be ravaging the three of them into drooling messes but you are tired beyond tired and sleep quickly claims you.

Your dreams are shattered visions of ancient battlefields. Armies beyond count march against a single man and die to the last. A great drake, with wings that crackle with lightning falls like a struck sparrow, trailing blood and flame. A mighty giant-king, his limbs broken and proud skull sundered. A great and terrible sword, its edges weather in pure power falls with impossible force...

And gods died.

You wake with a start, breathing heavily and heart pounding. Mylea's gentle warmth atop you and the comforting presence of Keera and Ysolde, both snoring gently, calms your mind and you take several deep breaths.

You can't help but notice Mylea's "strategic" placement of herself and chuckle at the sweet girls attempt at seduction as you inhale the scent of her hair, running a palm along her soft rear.

"I was worried you didnt want me"
Mylea says softly, raising herself up slightly to give you a view of the fact that the silver rose necklace is the only thing on her voluptuous body before she wraps her arms around your neck and buries her face under your chin.

"Id be a madman then"
You chuckle as Mylea wriggles against you sleepily, her small face nuzzled into your neck and covering your neck and throat in small kisses as you cup a handful of her round bottom, giving it a hard squeeze, her soft squeal in your ear bringing some very urgent matters to light.

You aren't sure how you manage it without waking Ysolde and Keera but you spend the early morning hours being ridden like a warhorse by the eager blonde. Afterwards, she collapses against you, sweat slick skin sticking to your chest as she gasps, eyes half open and hair a mess. Her legs tremble and shake as you gently pry her off of your pelvis, her legs involuntarily clamping shut as she curls up against her sleeping companions. She gives you a dazed smile, cupping her massive chest with both hands and squeezing
"Are you sure you have to leave?"
She pouts, giggling as you give her pale rear a soft smack, pulling your clothes on and giving her a smile
"Ill be back later. Get the others awake and dressed and feel free to walk around the village. Shalla will show you around and find things for you to do if you ask her"

Mylea smiles, nodding happily
"Of course! Id love to help cook!"

Not necessarily, but we're far from pillaging whole swathes of the valley, and at the moment, their numbers are managable. Better to get a headstart on our efforts to jump-start a tribe early on, while we're still young. If there's too many, nothing saying we can't offload one or two for equivalent loot.
>>

Yeah maybe we should reserve concubinage for women of higher standing. Village girl #45 isn't really worth the narrative effort but a character with more narrative importance would be more palatable.

I'd really rather not start our own tribe. I think we should bolster the Crag Wolves, and when it comes time for it, Throth will probably be glad to have a worthwhile successor

True, soon enough we'll have opportunities to capture "high-value" women, but right now we're a step above a nobody on a Valley-wide scale, so we shouldn't feel limited to nobility. We should probably stop somewhere around 5-6 peasant thralls, more than enough to keep us busy and produce a decent amount of children.

>>2347254

Of course, I was being hyperbolic, I just think the more huge descendents we have fighting for us in our old age, the better.

>Bringing DarkMoon greatsword and fuckhammer

You duck back into your cave, giving each one of your women a affectionate grab-and-squeeze to the rear, Mylea giggling happily as you grab the shattered remains of your hammer and the still unpleasantly cold Darkmoon blade. Grabbing the hefty bag of fine blacksmiths tools you make your way over to Hemmiks forge.

The clanging of hammers and loud, roared curses at his unfortunate apprentices lead you straight through the smokey, sweltering confines of Hemmiks workshop. The man himself, a bearded, shaven headed man in his fourties with the arms and shoulders of a giant. Hemmik stands at his anvil, hammering a axehead into shape with savage precision, each one of his blows landing hard enough to crush a armored knights skull into jelly. He picks up the red hot axehead with a pair of tongs, grunting at it dismissively before dropping it into a trough of oil with a gout of flame and a hiss. He looks at you sidelong, wiping soot and sweat from his forehead with a massive hand, plucking a piece of wool from his ears, shaking his head bullishly.
"Ah. Tha's better. Can hear m'self think again.. What can I do fer ya Magnus?"

>Gift of tools

You slam the bag of tools down on Hemmiks anvil and smile broadly
"Brought you a gift Hemmik. I know you complain about the quality of the tools you have so I brought you some better ones"

Hemmik looks at the bag, raising one bushy eyebrow skeptically before reaching down and inspecting the contents. His eyes widen as he pulls the finely made hammers, files, tongs and draws from the bag, the creases on his face showing through the soot. He looks at you incredulously before limping around the anvil, the brace on his twisted leg creaking as he envelops you in a bone crushing hug
"I thank ye boy. Too long ive been stuck wit' shoddy tools, unable t'go get me own cause Pa wouldn't let me go with 'im. But NOW... now I can make ye some true wonders. Ask away Magnus. If its within me skill, ill make it for ye, as a gift."

Offer the Hemmik the spare suits of chainmail we have as payment and ask him if he can resize several of them to fit our size. Hopefully, we can get a full suit of mail covering our entire bodies.

Will cost more. As the other one is a simple replacement of the rod. Shouldn't be too expensive. So get this for free.
>>
>Reforge wins. That was a 30L cost over a 5L cost. Wise choice anon.

You pull your battle spear from its sheath on your back and set it and the eternally chilly Dark Moon Greatsword on Hemmiks work bench, stepping back to allow Hemmik to look at them.
"I want you to replace the blade on this..."
You pat the battle spear, its heavy notched blade looking like a butchers cleaner next to the brutal elegance of the DarkMoon blade
"With this"
You place a finger on the cold metal and the warmth immediately begins being sucked from the digit.

Hemmik chews his lip as he steps forward, picking up the blade and grimacing at its chill, tapping the steel with a hammer, feeling it with a fingernail and even smelling of it. He finally sets it down and looks at you critically. Shaking his head with a grin he pats his new bag of tools and nods at you
"Bloody 'ell I shoulda guessed it wouldn't be some easy job. Enchanted steel? Tricky stuff, e'en small bits. Gotta work it careful like or the magic leaves it. But... I can do it. Won't take me but a day or so. Call us square for the tools?"

You nod and shake Hemmik massive paw as he roars for a apprentice, some snot nosed boy with a fat lip, to bring him his "Sparkly shit! Youll know it when ya see it ya stupid rat!"

Turning back to you he clears his throat and grins toothily, drumming his fingers on his anvil
"What else can I do for ye Magnus"

Getting a suit of maille is a nice compromise between fur and plate that I feel would go nicely with our mercenary background. Here's what I'm envisioning as our loadout,

> chainmail shirt
> spiked iron gaunlets
> armored iron belt with tassets and codpiece as per >>2347377's specifications
> ironshod fur boots

With plenty of furs covering our armor. What are your thoughts anons?
>>
>>2347440

I've just realized something, we don't have armor shielding our head. I realize that most men can't reach it unless they're wielding spears or projectile weapons, but that's still a massive oversight on our part.

Though we should get neck/shoulder/chest guards at some point. A gorget would not be unwise.
>>

As much as I would love to look into special upgrades the only special materials we got was that greatsword we looted from a knight.

>Ask for a custom job
Ah have an idea actually with our new strength we need a better shield. A tower shield so huge it can cover even our frame and most importantly keep us from into an oversized pincushion. Ask about that probably a special job though.

Besides that, we have 1 battlespear and hammer, but our weapons can break on us. Given our taste for duel wielding we need a backup unless something like last time happens again.

>Browse weapons
Maybe an ax or sword?

>>2347440
Resizing mail is actually pretty easy. Mostly due to not having to forge new links which is an extremely tedious process. As for plate as much as I LOVE the idea... it is going to be hellishly expensive. We can't just loot plate armor and resize it like we can with mail.

Mail, padding, and leather is the armor we are going to be stuck with for a good long time until we save up enough for armor plating.

I'll have to disagree with only a chainmail shirt. That would leave all our extremities open including our head and thighs.
>>
>>2347456

M80, there's reason we can't have both forged, and wear the belt over the shirt. Encumberance is the least of our worries, keep in mind, we're twice as strong as before, though we might not know it until we hit somebody.

The armored belt, with protective tassets, will shield our thighs, and I mentioned that we need to pick up a helmet here, >>2347446. I don't think we should use something with a visor, that's not quite our style. I was thinking a squarer, more primitive version of pic related would be ideal.

Hemmik grunts, tossing the pile of leathers, furs and mail onto his work bench.

You manage to make them fit with some small adjustments to the straps and buckles and stand, stomping experimentally.

"Those'll do ya good. Last thing ya want is to catch a blow to the foot or leg. Not much call for crippled warriors"
Hemmik spits bitterly as you walk back to the work bench, his hands already working on your armor.

well that has a convoluted answer. Basically, the Goddess of the Moon (the silver lady, Mistress Nyx, the mother of frost, the Queen of the Night, The Silver-Eyed one, etc) isn't exactly a goddess. She's a upjumped spirit. A powerful spirit but a spirit nonetheless. She is a weaker version of Pharos, the Sun God (only recently became a god, used to be a upjumped spirit like Nyx).

Basically, when Vall brought his war into the realm of spirits and gods, he killed damn near all of them on their home turf which meant they STAYED dead. The ones that were left afterwards where either weaklings or newly made spirits. These spirits were left to pick up the pieces of their entire plane of existence being curbstomped by Vall so obviously, many of them are mean, spiteful, cruel little shitnuggets.

The way for a Spirit to elevate itself to godhood is by the devotion and admiration of mortals. Their prayers, offerings and souls are like steroids for spirits, kicking their power up a notch.

The cult of the moon is basically the Spanish inquisition in levels of cruel. Entire towns will be slaughtered, their deaths dedicated to their goddes for their "heresy". Lady My offers her most zealous followers portions of her power as Ashes of the Silver Flame, a small magical fire in each abbey and fortress monastery of The Cult of The Moon (Church of Silver, The Lady's house, Moonlight Chapels, etc).

Very very few are left. Most (except the high elder gods that even Vall can't fuck with.) Are actually in hiding, regaining their power slowly. Hylion for example, a once great Nature spirit, is healing the wounds Vall dealt him while hiding in a secret place you may very well come across ;)

You grab a belt of the blade heavy throwing axes along with a vicious, razor sharp dagger and throw them onto the pile of weapons and armor. Hemmik looks over your selection with approval and nods.
"Now yer kitted up like a proper fuckin' fighter lad. I wish I could come join ye but..."
He looks down at his twisted leg sadly and frowns.

You pat the smith on his massive, stone hard shoulder and keep your hand there for a moment
"But you do something so much more important than simply raiding or hunting Hemmik. Without your skill, our warriors would be charging into battle with flimsy and dull weapons, their armor falling apart at the slightest touch! The upper bridges would fall from their moorings without the supports you designed! You are not a warrior Hemmik but you are the strength and skill we need in our greatest smith"
You say proudly, knowing the subject of his infirmity is painful for Hemmik.

He smiles sadly, nodding to himself as he leans against the anvil
"Aye. S'pose yer right. You tests wouldn't last a week without me fixin' yer shit."

You want his Backstory? Barbas was drunker than usual and training the boys to wrestle and went a little hard on Hemmik and tore his knee apart. Duergir couldn't fix the damage to the joint and Hemmik was crippled for life. He can walk but not very fast and was forced to put his mind and body to different uses. Its why the pair only speak through intermediates now which is awkward considering Hemmik is Barbas's oldest son and Mikken's father

You nod Hemmik farewell and the burly smith promises to have all of your new gear, repaired hammer and reforged battle spear delivered to you by tomorrow afternoon. You can hear him already working the forge as he bellows orders and insults at his apprentices.

Stepping from the dim, smoky confines of Hemmiks forge you blink at the scalding daylight and shade your eyes for a moment. You smile as you watch Shalla lead your nervous new Thralls around, pointing things out and introducing them to the friendlier of the Crag Wolves women. Keera looks terrified, Ysolde looks determined and Mylea is babbling happily, probably talking Shalla's ear off.

Vall walked the earth thousands upon thousands of years ago. In the early days if humanity when gods walked the earth, dragons ruled the sky and the giants carved the mountains into great cities. Vall ended all that and made humanity the dominant force before he waged his one man war on the gods.

I used Ghangis Khan, Ares, Siegfried, Hercules, various viking heroes and Mance Rayder as inspiration for Vall.
>>
>>2348381
What's outside the valley that were in right now? What the dominant human nation or nations at the moment?
>>
>>2348387
North of the Shattered Peaks is the Highland Wastes (full of not-Qunarri-Urgals and not-Scotsmen). A bleak, rainy, windswept area with quite a few monsters. There's a loose alliance of small city-States here that are headed by 'King' Willem Walsh. The Wild Folk are headed by a Warlord by the name of Iron-Horns.

North of that is the frozen wastes of Khartara. There's some nasty buggers up here along with some really fucking rough beasties. Nobody is in charge up here... Nobody human that is.

South of the Shattered Peaks is the Sea of Fangs, so called for the islands that jut up like the fangs of some beast. The Stone Shore is on the coast against the base of the peaks. Led by the Great Captain Arthos, these Not-Vikings raid along the scattered islands and coastal villages and amongst each other.

East of the Shattered Peaks is the endless Grass sea which isn't really endless just really long and flat. Its full of Not-Dothraki and has a few isolated cities along rivers and the occasional hill

Southeast of the Shattered Peaks is the desert nation of Phassos. The sultan Amir Burkuraz, self named God-King, rules over the sands with an iron (or golden) fist

Further than that
>>
>>2348410
>hit post early

Further than that is jungle of Qu'atol and nobody knows whats on the other side of that ancient jungle. Not even Vall marched that far. His campaign ended on the steps of the God-Emperors Temple of Blood

>Take a walk

You decide that having a bit of time to yourself can't hurt and tuck your thumbs into your belt and go for a stroll.

The Crag, while inhospitable to outsiders, is quite comfortable to those that live here. Spacious homes carved into the very rock or built upon natural caves, a lush (if small valley) accessible only by the crag itself and teeming with goats, pigs, wild oxen and rabbits. Small plots of crops are visible as you dtand on a overlook and spit over the side, the distance so great you lose sight of the glob of saliva on its way down.

The common area of the crag is built upon the divided belly of the mountain. Each of the halves extend upward, limiting direct daylight to noon except during the summer and early fall.

You inhale deeply as you walk, tasting the air. The scent of hundreds of people, animals and cooking meals, tanning hides and brewing ale is not exactly pleasant but to you, its like perfume. You are, for once in your life, *HOME*.

You smile gruesomely, putting on your best scary face as laughing children swarm you, climbing your frame like squirrels, hanging from your arms like apes and clinging to your legs tighter than new pants. You laugh uproariously as a tiny blonde haired tot scales your back like a mountain goat, sitting behind your neck, a handful of your beard in each hand, crowing victory as he attempts to steer you to the Pits. A grinning, buck toothed young girl grips your thumb, pulling you along to the best of her ability
"Come on Magnus! Come on! Theyre fighting! You can fight too! Come on Magnus! You'll win!"
She squeals, hauling on your arm mightily

>Accompany the children to the fights

>Not today. Its your day off.

>>Not today. Its your day off

"Not today little ones. Even giants need our rest"
You shake your head at the childrens groans of disappointment and begin prying them off of you like pouting barnacles. Youre sure that the little boy on your shoulders pulled out a good portion of your hair in his removal but eventually you are child free and resuming your walk.

The upper levels of the Crag are the homes of higher ranking Crag wolf warriors and their families. Many are out enjoying the fine day, lounging in the warm sun and drinking thin ale. You notice Urhost and his black haired giant of a wife, the matronly woman holding a pair of toddlers, one under each arm and looking at everything as if it has personally offended her. You grin at your friends predicament, his wife obviously nagging him about something. Giving him a wave you continue on.

The bridges that connect one side of the crag to the other are sturdier than they look, being able to hold even your weight without creaking. The sturdy wooden boards are as solid as the earth under your feet, the bridge swaying slightly in the wind. You remind yourself that you need to do something with Eolhim's family. You certainly don't want them.

You place your hands on the railing of the bridge and look out over the village. The sun is shining, the air is clear and no one is trying to kill you.

Its a good day.

How does Magnus Rank?
>>
>>2348514
In the hierarchy of the Crag Wolves? Magnus is a War-Leader which is basically like a mid tier officer. There are more senior war leaders and Barbas himself but all are subservient to Throth.
>>
>>2348518
How does one succeed Troth? Are we the strongest in the tribe?
>>
>>2348511
>Go see Barbas. Youve got another present to give him
>>
>>2348520
You can either be chosen, defeat the previous Chieftan in single combat, conquer the tribe in a coup or be named their successor by a meeting of the War-Leaders and Elders. Throth holds a a great deal of respect for Magnus and the other War Leaders respect him. Its Not a sure fire deal though. If Magnus lost Throth favor (being cruel, greedy, a bad leader) then he would be cast aside in the choosing.
>>
>Go see Barbas

You decide that offering Barbas another boy to train would only raise the War-Masters spirits and you decide to swing by the Thrall dwellings.

The small, cozy, if spare caves are home to the Thralls who don't directly serve a member of the tribe but are owned anyway. Farmers, herders, miners, masons, tanners, cooks, all the jobs that the Crag Wolves themselves don't want to do.

You peek into each one and finally come across the fading blonde woman, feeding her children a loaf of bread, some fruit and a bowl of stew. The girl has obviously been crying but the boy looks at you curiously
"Mama... There's the big man. What does he want?"
He points at you, his eyes wide. His sister looks at you curiously, her cheeks bulging like a chipmunk.

His mother turns to look at you, gasping in shock and stepping in front of her children, ushering them behind her.
"Uh... Hello. What... What do you want? Please... Dont hurt my children. You can have me but.... Please... please don't hurt them"
Her voice is soft, full of fear but the smoothness of a singer is in her tones.

You look at the woman, her green eyes wide and her thin nose flared, lips clenched tightly and her fading blonde hair tucked behind one ear. You have no doubt in her youth she was a great beauty but now she is just a aging widow and your property.

"We're off'in to take your boy to his line of work. You can think of it like...schooling. We're not all Unedcutated brutes as you might think."
>>
>>2348557
I thought of something better but I can't do it in Magnus's accent.
"We're here to take your boy to a greater destiny. You may think me as a brute and cruel overlord, but I can be your protector, or I can be a your tyrant. We're taking you boy something that you're mooney overlords would never offer. The opportunity to fight and die for what he chooses. He'll grow up with brothers in arms, and his needs will be taken care of for him. We're here to teach him, not to kill him. But I will be taking him."

>>2348566
>>2348557

And add in a comment on how he can either do that or work his entire life as a miner or something else, but if she wants to keep him under our protection the boy will need to be trainned into a warrior. Magnus has no use for miners
>>
>>2348551
>Gently take the boy
>>
You step forward, the woman flinching backward as you do, the children hiding behind her skirt.
"Im not here to hurt your children or you."
You say calmly, holding your hands out palm up and taking a small step forward as Aella visibly relaxes. She gestures with her chin at you, her eyes narrowed
"What do you want then? Was my husband not enough for you to take?"

You resist the urge to smack the scowl from her face and try diplomacy instead.
"Im here to take your boy to a greater destiny. You may think me as a brute and cruel murderer, but I can be your protector, or I can be a your tyrant, its up to you. Im offering you boy something that you're weak overlords would never offer. The opportunity to fight and die for what he chooses, to be a free man, beholden to none except his brothers and his Chieftan. He'll grow up with brothers in arms, friends, boys his own age as equals. His needs will be taken care of, he'll be fed, housed, taught everything we can teach him and trained to be a fighter. Im here to teach him, not to kill him."
You step forward again, extending your hand and gripping the boy by his collar, pulling him around his stunned mother.
"But I WILL be taking him."
You snarl, pulling the boy to you and turning to leave, his mother stunned into speechless silence as the young girl sobs softly, watching her brother leave.

The young boy looks up at you without fear, blinking in confusion as his mother begins sobbing loudly through the gap in the covering.
"Are you a bad man? Mama says youre bad"

You look down at the guileless boy and grin like a gargoyle
"Only as bad as I need to be."

You quickly make your way to the Pits, the young lad holding onto your pants nervously as you step into the bloodsoaked arena. Initiates spar and wrestle, throw axes and knives, train with slings and arrows all while Barbas roars commands at them, taking massive pulls from his bottle of ale in between roars of displeasure.

"Stay here boy. Watch them.."
You point to the initiates grunting and sweating, battering each other with training weapons and mauling the practice dummies.
"That is your future. Those boys will be your brothers. You new family"

The young lad looks up at you nervously, a small smile showing missing teeth
"I never had brothers. Are they nice?"

You chuckle and pat the childs head, ruffling his mop of dark blonde hair. Striding through the training yard the initiates give you a wide berth. One lets his curiosity get the better of his guard and goes down hard from a blunted axe blow, blood streaming from his cheek. Barbas laughs like a landslide, throwing a rock at the stunned boy
"Ya brainless pup! Never let your guard down! I don't care if Vall himself is dancing naked behind your opponent. KEEP. THAT. GUARD. UP!!!!"
He punctuates each word with another pebble, the stunned boy yelping as each one thunks off of his back or head.

Barbas grins drunkenly, waving at you as you approach.
"'ello there Magnus! What can I do fer he today ya big ugly bugger. Come to beat an old man silly again?"

"Hows that boy I brought you doing?"
You sit next to Barbas, watching the initiates as they stain the ground with more blood and sweat.

Barbas chuckles, pointing out a familiar black haired face. A fat lip, bruised nose and black eyes mar it but its twisted in a determined grin as he takes on the hulking Mikken. The squire wields a wooden sword, Mikken a two handed padded axe. The boys shout and yell, slashing and jabbing at each other.
"'s doin' pretty well now that 'es calmed down. His names Wesley Karus. Apparently his pa is some high doin' Moonie, Lord Karus, under the service of a Lord Brune. Ne'er heard of the first one but Brune? Him I've heard of. Nasty fucker"

"Aye Magnus, aye. Boy comes from good stock. Got fightin' in his blood, look at 'im and call me wrong. Boy can't be more'n six and got the bone of a boy o'nine. He'll be a bruiser when he grows. Fast as a Wolf and strong as a ox isnt that right pup?"

So if you're chieftain your will and word is law. Any other benefits? Mystic powers, tribe secrets?
>>
>Leave

You bid Barbas farewell, shaking his massive scarred hand and standing, ruffling Eolans hair and striding through the sparring initiates.

Leaving the pits, you take a deep breath of air not heavy with sweat and blood. You look around the village and sweep your hair back from your face, grinning at a pair of young women that walk by, arms laden with baskets of bread and dried meat. They blush, walking away quickly and giggling

>Go see one of your friends

We should do something stupid, like hunt a mammoth.
>>
>>2349758
>Go grab some food

Then I say we
>Go see Throth

The time is coming for us to begin our campaign of expansion by conquering and absorbing the other tribes. By the time we are finished and the Moon lords begin to relax we will march from the mountains with a much larger force ready to raid many villages or possibly a castle.

Id say if we can gather a horde of about 800-1000 warriors/skirmishers/raiders we could sack a large town or a castle with men to spare.

Also we need to find an abbey for later, the priestly types tend to hoard lots of shiny gubbinz and good loot in those. Also as a giant fuck you to the moon goddes we will despoil her priestesses by the dozens and raise the children born from those unions to destroy the moon lords.

Man i'm getting bloodthirsty.

I think we should prioritize heavy warriors next time we're gathering men, when we're fighting peasant mobs and lootinf afterwards, it's better to have a massive bulk of axemen than an even mix of melee and archers
>>
>>2349814
There are quite a few large beasties to hunt in the mountains. Just make sure that mammoth doesn't have bronze rings in its ears.
>>
>>2349890
Are there any large predators like a sabertooth cat or a horse sized wolf that we could possibly earn the respect of and ride into battle.
>>
>>2349900
idont thnk we would be heman or find one big enguh to carry us
>>
>>2349906
Ok yeah maybe just a big apex predator to use as a battle companion a dire wolf with a spike harness or a group of armored dire wolves as a shock unit would be cool.
>>
>>2349900
Why yes. Here's a small bestiary for you
(Of the giant/large versions of animals that can be tamed and or ridden/used as war beasts

>Mammoths-Huge, shaggy, tusks that can easily be fitted with spiked iron caps.

>Vrag Beasts-Large, armored pack predators similar to the Caragors from Shadow of war.

>Dire Wolves-A wolf the size of a large horse. Smart, strong and vicious.

>Granitehide boar- A massive breed of pig standing nearly 8ft at the shoulder. Their thick tough skin earns them their name.

>Cliff-Jumpers-A breed of mountain goat that grows to the size of a horse. Immensely strong and their agility is unparalled.

>Lesser Wyrm-a cousin of the great dragons, these winged reptiles are smarter and stronger than they look.

>Stone-Breaker Ox- these massive, rhino like beasts use their horns to break open rocks for the tasty salt. Easily large enough for a giant to ride. Several giants.

>There are a few more but these are the main contenders.
>>
>>2349959
I like the Cliff-Jumpers, it will be useful living on the Crag. Where can we find these beasts?

Lemme guess. They belong to the giants.

>go grab some food.

You are led by your nose to the circle of communal Cookfires, the scent of food drawing you along like a fish on a hook. The pots of stew, skewers of meat, bubbling soups and baking bread releases some truly divine scents. Good natured Thralls, mainly older women and young girls, stir pots and tend the food, some of the older girls eying you hopefully as you grab a wooden skewer of meat, a claw bowl of stew and a loaf of bread, giving them a wink as you grab a horn of ale, plopping down on a log worn smooth by thousands of rears.

Tucking into the food, dipping the bread into the thick, herb rich stew and washing it down with a large gulp of the thin ale you watch your surroundings idly.

Children laugh and run by, playing some sort of game involving a ball of cloth and leathers that can only be touched by the feet. Strange. Where you're from, the ball was held in the hands and you had to get it from one end of a field to the other without dropping it.

Falhim sits with his older sister Reya, the pair talking animatedly. She seems upset with him for something. You know that the anniversary of his brothers death is comimg up and Reya has always been sensitive about it.

Shalla sits by Mylea and Ysolde, the trio tending a flat rock by a cookfire, a couple dozen small, flat discs browning upon it. From their sweet smell you imagine them to be some kind of honey cookie. You don't know where Keera has gone to but from Shalla's calm expression you imagine she didnt run off.

Torbos, Arvel and a few others laugh and eat loudly, telling stories of battles gone by. Torbos, being a younger warrior, doesn't have much to offer to the conversation but he listens intently, hoping to glean some knowledge from the idler older veterans.

>Go speak with Falhim and Reya

Yeah in real life livestock that are led out to unfenced pasture are marked to designate that they belong to a caretakers herd. The giants most likely do that to ensure anyone that sees knows that a giant sheepherds them and that they are off limits unless you want to get thumped off to the moon.
>>
>>2349982
Means they belong to a giant. Each tribe uses different rings.

>go speak with Shalla, Mylea and Ysolde.

You quickly shovel down your stew, mopping the bowl with the bread and chewing the steaming hot hunks of meat like a wolf. You stand, wiping your lips clean of grease and stew and pick up your ale, taking a hefty swallow and making your way over to the makeshift bakery.

Shalla looks at you, a smirk on her full lips as Mylea chatters happily, Ysolde sneaking one of the scorching hot cookies carefully, blowing on her scalded fingers. Shalla tosses you one of the hot discs of sweetness and you bite into it greedily, the outside crisp and crunchy, the inside soft and chewy. You raise an eyebrow appreciatively and Shalla laughs, pointing to the obviously chattering Mylea
"It was all her idea. Apparently she wanted to bake something and she came up with this. Said her grandmother taught her to do this."

Mylea and Ysolde both look up at Shalla's words, focusing on you after a brief moment of confusion. Mylea grins brightly, her curls tied back to prevent the flames from scorching them. Ysolde smiles for the briefest of moments before replacing it with her usual flat, determined glare. Mylea stands, a small wooden plate piled high with the sweet cookies, offering you some
"Try some Magnus! I saw those children and I asked them if they liked cookies and they asked me what a cookie was and I had to make them some because my gran always told me cookies are good for good children and the children here are so nice they told me my hair was pretty and...."
Mylea chatters on happily, content to talk as you sample another of the cookies, Ysolde and Shalla giving each other a look and laughing to themselves.
"She's had us here for hours"
Ysolde grouse, rolling her eyes
"Those men over there have been staring at me like im a piece of meat"

Shalla purses her lips, giving Ysolde a reproachfull look.
"Well Ysolde, like I told you earlier. If Magnus hadn't claimed you, you WOULD be a piece of meat."
Shalla looks you over and gives you a wink
"You two could do a lot worse, like I told Keera. There's a deficit of good men here."

You could swear the look Ysolde and Mylea give Shalla is very similar to a possessive glare. You chuckle and shake your head, popping another cookie into your mouth.

"Ah now don't be like that Shalla. S
There's lots of good men here. Good fighters, good drinkers, good hunters, hell... I know for a fact at least one of us is even good in bed!"
You laugh as Shalla smirks, her cheeks reddening slightly. Ysolde and Mylea share a look, their cheeks looking hot enough to forge iron on.

You turn to Mylea and Ysolde, the pair standing.. Strangely. Mylea leans forward, squeezing her upper arms around her chest while Ysolde cocks her hips, accentuating her long legs. The pair give Shalla a small glare but focus on you as you hold up one of the cookies
"These.."
You crunch it down in two bites
"Are delicious. Well done my dear. Ill have to find some way for you to make these more often."

Mylea beams and Shalla snags a cookie, pointing with it at Hemmiks forge.
"If you ask the grouch im sure he would make her a small oven. It wouldn't be a big project and im sure Mylea here would love the work."

You consider the idea while giving the young warriors literally droolimg over Ysolde and Mylea a glare that could carve carvea glacier. They turn around rather quickly. You focus your attention on. Ysolde and run a ringer through her long, dark brown hair.
"If you dont like being mistaken for an unclaimed woman, im sure I could find some way to mark you to show you are mine if you wish? Perhaps a tattoo? A brand would be harsh but .. Maybe a nice collar."

You grin deviously as Ysolde bites her lip for a moment, Mylea looking ready to faint and Shalla biting her lip to contain her laughter.

>Where did Keera run off to?

>Anything i can bring you on my next trip?

You pull the pair of girls under your arms and give each of them a affectionate grab to their rears as you speak to Shalla.
"Ive got a girl you may be interested in"

Shalla snorts, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow
"Just because im not claimed or promised to anyone doesnt mean I don't like men Magnus"
She says testify

You laugh, waving your hand to clear the misunderstanding
"Not that way. A young girl. I fought her father at Rhya's hill and claimed his wife, son and daughter to keep them safe. The boy is already with Barbas but I figured youd have use for a smart little girl to help you out"

Shalla taps her chin with a slim finger, tossing her long red braid back over her shoulder and nodding
"Sure. Ill take her. Never enough young girls wanting to learn their herbs and how to treat the sick and wounded. Bring her by my home sometime and ill show her the ropes"

>Spend time with Shalla and 2/3rds of your women.

You sit by the small makeshift bakery, Mylea and Ysolde leaning against you, Shalla sitting nearby and lounge. Mylea pops cookies into your mouth, nibbling daintily and laying her head on your chest. Ysolde picks at your hair, undoing knots and tangles, lamenting the lack of "good honeywine here". She boasts of her fathers skill in brewing and insists with proper equipment she could make something leagues beyond any "curdled goat piss or whatever is in that horn"

You laugh as Shalla regales you with stories of her tutelage under Duergir. She tells you of how certain warriors came to the shaman for "their spears going limp on them" and makes sure to point them out to you. Ysolde cackles and Mylea blinks in confusion, Shalla leaning forward to whisper a explanation into her ear. Shalla snags your horn of ale as she leans back, taking a sip and leaning back against the log. She gestures at you with the horn and grins evily
"You two don't have to worry about that with this one do you?"
She smirks like a satisfied cat as Mylea chokes on her cookie and Ysoldes face goes blank in shock, both of the girls blushing furiously.
"N-no. Not...not really"
Mylea looks ready to die of embarrassment and Ysolde looks pointedly away, chewing her lip.

You and Shalla burst into laughter, honest deep belly laughs that make your sides hurt as the two women blush and poke your sides.

The hours pass peacefully, conversation drifting between peaceful memories, stories of family, questions from the girls and Shalla's incessant teasing of the easily flustered village girls. You polish of the cookies and finally look up, the sky having gone dim and stars emerging. Keera approaches with a group of other women, a small basket of fish under her arm. Shalla explains that a small group went down into the small valley protected by the crag to a lake that termed with fish, a rare treat on the mountains. Keera gives you a timid smile as she plops down alongside Ysolde, putting her life in a fishing village to use as she expertly cleans and scales them.

You relax a bit longer, Keera deftly cleaning fish, Mylea tucked against your side, Ysolde laying her head on your arm. Shalla bids you all farewell, claiming tiredness and you do the same, pulling the girls to their feet, Keera yelping in shock as you pull her off her feet by her waist easily, chuckling
"Come on kitten. Time to go to bed"

She scowls pretty but tags along anyway, hurrying to catch up with you. All around you, many of the Crag Wolves have the same idea, the bridges and walkways crowded as many retire for the night.

Flipping back the bearskin covering, you step back, allowing your women to enter before you. Mylea and Ysolde glance at you with red cheeks while Keera looks at you nervously, her hips obviously still sore.

You chuckle and shake your head, sucking off your shirt and pants, falling heavily onto your bed. You look pointedly to your women and with a shared look between Mylea and Ysolde and reluctant nervousness from Keera they follow suit.

Youre sure this is what ancient warlords sacked kingdoms for. The opportunity to be quite literally, covered in women. You alloe your hands to roam for a bit as you relax and eventually, the soft breathing and comforting warmth sends you off to sleep.
