You are a Magi Overlord who made a deal in exchange for forbidden knowledge that had long eluded you. You were an outcast previously one who merely dabbled in dark secrets and vile arts, but now you know the truth. Now you have wanted you long wanted.

They may have chased you from the surface into the deep bowels of the earth. Where you fled to a place that even the dark things of the underground dare not tread. Here you made that deal and here your power grows.

So far you have recruited some goblins whelps and built your first puppet. A Flaming Mud one. You also have a kitten to keep you company and since you accidentally killed off your slimes you been stuck with the goblins. The goblins cowardly as they may be and weak have proven their cleverness. Even if it did result in blowing up a room and attracting some flaming skeletons.

Your lair grows slowly but surely. Your savings while small is slowly gathering. Resources are being stockpiled and you consider what you should do next.

Your minions still do not have a proper place to spend their pay or eat/drink Overlord. Then again these are goblins not like they are picky or have any kind of standards. One of your goblins brought had an idea about magma mining. Of course you could spend some time creating some more golems or puppets. They are currently the only source of strong minions you have at your disposal but there is always research to be done, Overlord. Spells to be cast. Maybe try to find some recruits or things outside the dungeon you don't have to pay for.

We need a forge for the metals. Info on the things we would draw with the fire gems. Gotta prepare for what is needed to fight or houses them.

What would Goblins want to spend money on? Should we make a pub with Black Jack and Shroom Bug Burgers? We'll need more water sources to make drinks. I guess we could use condensation to get water from the air. Maybe work on those mushrooms that had a lot of water inside.

I don't know what we should do on the whole but I think a further 4 goblins would be a good idea. Given that gets us to a nice 15 in total.

I wonder if we can make Golem Suits. We could have Goblin pilots.
>>
>>2364962
That'd be a pretty effective solution to the goblin's cowardly, especially since they can be remotely piloted meaning we can have our pilots very removed from the combat and thus safe.

I really like the idea of hand training goblins to have skills. Seems to me it’s a great way to force upgrades onto them without having to pay. Being an academic and being a magic user really aren’t that far apart, I’ll bet we can teach just about anything to anyone, if we don’t know how to do (whatever training) we can always buy books from the dungeon
>>
>>2364775
>>2364775
On the top of your head you know beings of fire are attracted to fire gems and should be quite common in the magma ocean.

Mostly food, booze, gear, and entertainment.

>>2364962
The only places you know of that have golem suits are the magi lands who make them for their soldiers. Some of the theocracies also have some for their elite paladins. While a few suits float around the nobility.

For the most part its rare anywhere but the Magi lands.

>>2365145
You can indeed train minions only problem is your a Magi. So the training is limited to Magi training...and not just anyone can be a Magi. Fortunately there are tests for such things. Sadly you can only perform the Test of Blood. The other two you do not have the equipment for.

You can have minions train other minions too. So it might be worth shelling out for a single powerful minion and then having him train up the rest of the minions.

For example, Beast Masters are fantastic at training up Beasts who are normally very difficult to train due to their lack of intelligence and reliance upon instinct. Makes them a valuable part of any dungeon. After all beasts don't require pay, have low standards, breed quickly, and can put off quite a large amount of life force.

A precious resource to any dungeon.
>>
Just to warn you Overlord view this as a reminder as I mean no offense to the prestigious you. The Test of Blood is most unlikely to succeed among the common rabble. Only high-quality bloodlines like that which is carefully maintained among the Nobility have a good chance of passing. Even for them, it's not certain.

The only beings who are guaranteed to pass the Test of Blood are those who clearly have powerful magic flowing heavily through their veins. In fact testing, one of them would be considered quite offensive. As examples are the Fey, Demons, Spirits, Elementals, Magical Beasts, Dragons, and the like. All of them are obviously magical and hence do not need to take the Test of Blood to confirm their magical potential.

Among Goblinkind only Yobs and Fairy Goblins is capable of passing the Test of Blood. Luckily for you, Goblin Whelps are goblin children. There is a chance albeit quite a small one that one of them will grow up to be Yob.

In goblin tribes, they generally rely upon the sheer weight of numbers to produce any special goblin bloodlines. No matter how small. Given how fast they breed and mature it's not hard for them to acquire some.

Sadly all the goblins you have are still too young to breed, but trust me on this Overlord. Once they DO start breeding you'll be hard-pressed to supply them. Little buggers breed like a bunch of horny adolescent rabbits. There is a reason why pretty all Overlords who make the mistake of accepting goblins into their ranks soon start treating them as the cheapest of fodder.

They just have that many of them and trying to take care of them is honestly much harder than getting them killed. Too bad for the Overlords goblins are so weak and cowardly they don't offer much even as fodder.

1 build a foundry
1 perform research
1 purchase reinforcements
1 work on golem suits(research)

Looks like research wins.

It occurs to you it would be quite helpful if you knew WHAT would be attracted to the fire gems. After all its very tempting to acquire recruits you DON'T have to pay the delivery fee for. Sadly its all locked behind a paywall.

So next you looked into golem armor. You recall your time in the Magi Lands they manufactured golem armors in mass to equip the armies and guards, but you knew there was a trick to it. Otherwise, golem armors wouldn't be so rare outside the Magi Lands.

Considering this you take a look at the research materials relating to golemancy you and consider 'why' this is so. Soon enough you got a general gist of it. Golem Armor by its very nature is hallow which makes it much harder to manufacture due to the intricacies necessary to make a golem function. You really do need the space inside its not like carving the exterior is all you need to do. Worse still the user must be able to communicate with the suit as one. A task that is already difficult even for a seasoned Magi much less some completely magic illiterate warrior.

Those two problems have seen to it that golem armor is rare everywhere else but the Magi Lands who rely on sheer numbers of Magi to surpass the problems. Even among the Magi Lands they don't easily sell any of their suits as such they are very rare outside them. Which goes to show just how difficult it is and valuable they are.

>Forbidden Knowledge activated
...but unfortunately for them they don't KNOW what you now KNOW! A trained puppetmaster can control a hollow puppet and such is common. Too bad such skills are rare beyond them. Yet you know a nice little secret the Forbidden Spell Mindmeld. Using it you can fuse their minds into one. Thereby avoiding the problem entirely. Unfortunately its likely to drive the user quite mad due to the alien nature of the spirit inside the golem...but there is a way to get around this too!

The souls of the Dead. Use one of them to control a golem and while unpleasant the Mindmeld won't drive them completely insane.

Or you know the easy way? Possession of a Suit of Armor. A trick very common among the ranks of the Undead and Demons. They have their equipment possessed by spirits that they then use. They don't even HAVE to create a golem! They just stuff a spirit inside and call it good.

There is, however, a reason why nobody else dares to use such...forbidden magics. The Art of Possession is quite a dark one and vile magic to most.

There is another important part that golem armors have over Possession suits of Armor. Firstly they aren't vulnerable to purifying. Secondly, golem armors can be much bigger and stronger than ordinary suits of possessed armor. To the point its actually worth the trouble.
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

>>2365392
However if you need things like golem armor for cheap Possession is the way to go. Just keep in mind the use of such...equipment has hazardous side effects to their wielders. Otherwise demon possessed items wouldn't be so very...very infamous.

Keep in mind the greatest difficulty of creating Golem Armor is the fact its hallow. Greatly increasing the complexity and difficulty of the task of creation.

The second great difficulty is actually using it.

Possession basically bypasses this problem entirely by being cheap and dirty.

Now...

>Forbidden Knowledge Activated
With your presence in a Magma Ocean and using fire gems for bait. You tap into the forbidden knowledge you were dealt without resorting to paying past the paywall.

Magma Oceans are very rare outside the deepest bowels of the earth and as such is an active war zone between the beings of Earth and Fire. Elementals, spirits, elementally aligned magical beasts, monsters, and even sentience are all drawn to them. For its riches and its power are very powerful allures.

Dwarves, for instance, have LONG mastered the art of Magma Mining and even Forging. To them Magma is a precious resource and valuable treasure. To others less educated it's a dangerous hazard...yet all know of its great riches. As such there are always those who are willing to take a risk.

The dark dangers of the Magma Ocean are not the beings attracted to it but rather...that which lives inside. Creatures that swim through magma as if it were water. Beings of Magma who are nearly impossible to identify without it being too late. The bones and remains that can endure the Magma...

The riches of Magma that which very few know of is the Core of the Ocean. Here the heaviest of metals sink and collect at the bottom. Meanwhile, the interacts between two great elements of Fire and Earth. Allow all sorts of treasures and otherwise rare beings come to be.

As such when using the Fire Gems as bait the biggest risk and yet also most unlikely is being who lives in the magma ocean itself coming out to collect the fire gems. The most likely problem is the beings who were attracted here and yet do NOT live in the Magma Ocean itself. THEY will be the ones most tempted and most likely to appear.

>Interesting Factoid about Research Actions the Higher or Lower the roll the better. The worse rolls for Research is the Mediocre because it provides the least result to learn from. So those shitty rolls actually became quite good in a matter of speaking just unpleasant as a side effect.

While the Overlord was busy researching. The goblins continued on with their work at least until the 'Boss'(see the goblin who got promoted). Decided to interrupt most of them from their task.

"Oi you lot I want you to dig in this area," the goblin orders.

"Why? Big Boss never says where we iz need to diggy," counters one of the goblin diggers.

"Becuz I said so idiot and I iz the Boss Goblin, now as for the answer. I want that STUPID Clay Kiln OUT of my Forge. So build some proper room for it." Just as they were about to complain a goblin shriek came echoed out from the farms.

"Huh why iz the farmers screaming their eadz off," asks one of the goblins before turning their heads towards the Boss goblin.

"...Wut?" asks the Boss Goblin who was now sweating.

"Well you IZ the boss so why don't you check it out and order dem farmers around?"

"Yeah thats right!"

"Yup Boss needs to go see because boss is Boss. Boss gotta to Oversee things so Boss sees first."

"Oi you buggers BETTER get to digging," complains the boss goblin as he...very carefully and cowardly walking slowly as possible moves towards the source of the screams. Upon reaching the room he sticks his head in to take a look and ready to run. Looking inside he seeds one goblin rolling on the ground with tears and snot streaming down his face as he rubs is eyes fiercly. While another goblin runs around screaming while being pursued by a swarm of insects.

"Wut da hell iz you idiots doing," he mutters.

"BUGZ IS ANGRY ANGRY BUGZ," screams the goblin running around. The other goblin meanwhile was too busy coughing and sputtering to make an intelligible reply.

"Dis ere is why uz goblins alwayz get treated like dirt," complains the boss goblin. "Somehow managing to fuck up perfectly easy assignments."

Give the smart goblin some stuff to improve his survival odds. We need to reduce the chance that any smart goblins die as they will be essential in organising the huge number of goblins in the future. Every time we get a smart goblin we need to make sure that the smart goblin got a far higher than average chance of survival, I want it to be a standard rutine to give smart goblins blessings/training/items/pets to improve their survival odds. The casuality rate among our minions will no doubt be high due to the location of the fort so goblins is not a bad minion group to have lots of due to how fast they breed, but every single smart one needs extra protection and care. Or goblin stupidity might prove our downfall in this dangerous lava sea.

You head outside once more after casting a fire resistance spell upon yourself and making sure to not go for a swim in the magma. Noticing the distant mushroom forests that you went last time. This time you paid more attention to the 'coast' on the magma ocean. It is almost entirely barren except for strange crystal growths, plains of volcanic glass, and outcroppings of rock. The magma sliding onto the shore cools and solidifies.

Looking away from the magma ocean you head further away. Away from the mushrooms and strange plants. Away from the shoreline. Here you notice stretched plains of glass and rock. Nearby you notice the large cavern's walls speckled with tunnels. Forming a large outcropping of rock that is clearly of a different quality than the rest of the area. Probably not blasted out fresh from the magma. Which even now boils and roils.

All of it...so barren. Empty of life. Yet so rich in resources.

You decide to simply wander and take samples from here or there. Which you can examine and study later at your leisure. Wandering around you notice a great many fire spirits and elementals. Even Earth ones...and they are all fighting. The 'plains' being their favorite battlefield. Beings of earth would pull themselves out of the walls and ceiling dropping onto the fire beings. Fire beings erupted from pools of fire and flew in from the magma ocean.

Occasionally a strange hellish roar would echo and both sides would flee. As an irritable magma being came coming out to bitch slap them down. Looking past them you notice strange creatures that were...'grazing' upon the rock. While a few others fed upon the mushrooms and exotic underground plants that love fire. While some creatures fed upon them.

You watched and after catching a glimpse of something that you knew was valuable from afar you approach. Alas someone had beaten you to it. A group of dwarven miners worked there in a fortified outpost. As they mined out the wealth and prepared to escort it away.

Grumbling to yourself you moved onward. This time you saw something that made even you duck behind some rocks. As a large hulking shadow that roared and out came a nasty monster. Cave Troll. Not an ordinary breed either this one wears scars of fire and plops itself next to a molten pool where it roasts its dinner before dipping its huge weapon inside to heat then puts it out to the side and hammers with it a stone hammer. While munching on its meal.

Trolls are not known for their intelligence, but then again even an idiot surrounded by fire and metal would eventually figure out how to use it.

Once you confirmed the cave troll was sufficiently distracted you took the opportunity to slip away and head back home. Hopefully the goblins didn't get into any trouble while you were gone...

Meanwhile, sometime before back at base a bunch of goblins circled around a strange contraption.

"Alright my fellow goblins we been waiting for this day...the day when the Boss is away and we get to make shit go BOOM!" Yelps a goblin holding up a fire gem. "Ever since we figured out that Fire Gems can explode...we knew we haz a mission."

"Yeah," whoops the other goblins.

"We all iz all tired of mining hot rock and tiny workspaces," continues the goblin.

"YEAH!" Agrees all the goblins.

"But now we can FIX ITZ!"

By this point, the goblins were all cheering wildly.

Shortly followed by a chain of explosions of various densities and power. With the screams of goblins mixed in for good measure.

"TOO MUCH BOOM TOO MUCH BOOM," came some of the panicked screams.

While far away the Overlord head on back and became...quite concerned. When he heard repeated explosions coming from his dungeon. Only then did it occur to him that...

"Oh...fuck i left the goblins alone," at this point the Overlord started to rush back. Alas, it was already too late...

Ah unfortunately Overlord while you were...absent the goblins decided to experiment with explosives. While they were smart enough to not blow shit up in the same room as the dungeon core. The rest of the dungeon...is not so fortunate. On the plus side, the goblins have wounded themselves in the endeavor. Dark Dwarves are a rare breed and very valuable minion Overlord. As they know damn well how valuable their expertise and competence is. Also they unlike the rest of their kin don't mind the company of monsters and other such dark creatures.

Sadly they can only be found in the deepest darkest reaches of this world. Long driven there by their kin. Most Overlords make do with corrupting their kin into suitable replacements.

As for Orcs...well heheh Orcs are excellent soldiers but not much else. They are hideous dimwitted creatures made for fighting. Tough, strong and never grow old just stronger. Yet a smart orc is far too rare. Even rarer than one who isn't ugly. They have just enough brains to follow orders but not enough to ever actually question them.

Some say this makes orcs perfect so long as you get past how ugly they are. Beauty was the very last thing orcs were bred for. More importantly, unlike goblins, they can actually fight worth a damn. Bad things happen when Orcs aren't given something to fight regularly. Training and beating shit each other or other minions senseless can only go so far with bored orcs. Even those serving a powerful Overlord.

To summon an Orc will require the Unlock Fee and they cost 500 points per an orc.

I disagree, we've just gotten a way to rapidly expand our base. Let's focus on getting infrastructure set up so we can support orcs and other better minion's needs.

Remember, we're not exactly ready for sustaining anything with standards much higher than a goblin.

We can summon Sapient and things for the next unlock, right? I want to summon an intelligent mushroom to help us fix the mushroom farm or any plant will do. Perhaps they can help us grow a farm for cheaper.

I'm worried about the idea of summoning a telepathic insect but maybe that'll help the bug farm.

But I'm unsure what to do for the forge, a pet rock perhaps.

The cheapest of minions are beasts, undead, and animated. There are of course other creatures who are exceptions in that they also have low upkeep requirements like Goblins. Who despite being a sentient have notoriously low living standards.

>>2370372
Your a Magi you already know glyphs. Creating some proper wards or magical formations WILL require some research however.

Really though most Magi know Glyphs the only exceptions being those lucky bastards born with magic inside them already.

>>2370416
If you unlock Sapient or forces of Darkness then you can recruit Orcs at 500 per a head. Just don't expect them to be any good for anything but fighting and waging war(of which they are VERY good at).

Intelligent Plants, insects, and Mushrooms are lv 3 creatures. You have a LONG ways to go...unless, of course, you find some outside the Dungeon.

The Forge is for forging. It still requires the aid of steady supply of Ore and a foundry to smelt the ore into metals. As is though Goblins being the clever little cunts they are have already produced a small amount of usuable metal and know how to craft even with the lack of metal.

Remember Overlord Goblins are used to be broke ass little shits living in trash and making use of it. They are even figuring out how to make armor with stone. A work common only among dwarves. Not sure how far they are going to get with it but they are surprisingly close.

A Tavern has been constructed lv 0. Thanks to the access of plentiful stone and fire. There is a discount.

It only cost you 400 points.

>Gained lv 0 Tavern

Now your minions have a place to spend their coin on proper food and drink. Excellent for minions who actually living standards albeit low ones.

Congratulations Overlord the upkeep of your minions is nullified. Since they pay you to use the tavern and with their tiny wages...well your no longer losing any currency. In fact, they now pay YOU Overlord with the ambient life energies they emit. Your no longer losing ANYTHING by having them and in fact are GAINING from their presence!

This is something every Overlord longs for. Having minions you don't even need to pay and in fact, they pay YOU for the service of serving you glorious self. Keep at it Overlord.

Meanwhile, besides keeping an eye on the Goblins through the dungeon's natural viewing capability, you made another puppet. The goblins for their part had an accident in the foundry Overlord. A large Magma spill occurred while they were attempting to gather ore and smelt metals. Thankfully your presence kept them from dying but they still were badly burned.

Your Goblins beg for a proper magma flat plain for mining.

Your Insect Farmer requests that you purchase many more insects. Saying that if you do so it won't be hard to upgrade the Insect Farm.

The mushroom farmer begs for the farms to be enlarged and more workers to be purchased.

ALERT
Our perimeter has been breached...by a fire and earth entity. They head right for us but some reason they are not hostile. Not even to each other.

They have halted before the entrance of the Dungeon and are waiting patiently for some reason. One of them steps forward a dark flame and speaks

"Greetings Overlord. We have heard your...earlier 'activities' and upon realizing its one of your kind. We come to offer our...services. As well as bring a warning to you. Such explosions have not gone unnoticed and we were the first to arrive. A group of dwarven scouts is incoming and darker creatures. They believe those explosions are signs of heavy mining which means a valuable deposit of some kind, we knew better thanks to our spiritual senses."

Should we accept them Overlord?

A Dark Flame Spirit offers its services. Sinister beings but long a favorite of Overlords due to their unique characteristics.

In addition, a small assortment of elementals are also keen on joining up, but they do not know how to communicate as well as the Spirit and thus elected it has their speaker.

Be warned Overlord spirits require special upkeep but they have special abilities to offer in exchange. Elementals meanwhile require elements of their own type to sustain themselves as upkeep. Fortunately, they are all of earth and fire. Upkeep will be minimal.

Goblins have figured out how to make stone armor. By using a mushroom mycelium mat, plant threads, and stone chips to create scale/mail armor. They believe with some work they can manage how to make heavier stone plates to provide heavier armor. They do say having actual leather to work with would help a lot. Along with more plant materials. Apparently weaving with mushroom materials is a pain and the bugs aren't big enough to offer much either.

Still, clever little shits now aren't they? So far the Forge is largely stuck working with stone until you create a foundry and larger supply of ore.
>>
I would advise we fulfil the requests of our minions: expand the fungi farm to 3 times it's current size (excessive but a good preparation for future expansion), hire another 4 goblins tp work it; purchase yet more insects to improve the insect farm; construct / dig a proper magama flat for mining.

Any free labour should these projects be finished, should directed towards expanding the sleeping quarters in preparation for additional minions.

>>2370678
Also I say we accept these. The spirit will provide us with another intelligent and capable second in command like the smart goblin while the elementals grant us some somewhat expendable muscle for combat and whatever else we wish.

Two different votes for actions but anons seem to agree on accepting the recruits.

Gained Lesser Elementals. 5 Fire. 5 Earth. 2 Lava.
Gained 1 Dark Flame Spirit.

Lesser elementals while being intelligent are the weakest variety of intelligent elementals. Weak enough and smart enough to realize they're weak. Hence why they sought to serve you, Overlord.

Most of them appear to be either Earth or Fire elementals but a few are Lava Elementals. A hybrid between the two. You don't have to worry about upkeep but if you wish to 'evolve' those elementals they'll need something stronger and more expensive.

>>
>>2371357
Demons are best used in a Demon Forge. Goblin forges once you get past how hazardous are actually surprisingly good with complex and fast. Things like gizmos and machines. Goblin Forges are oddly well equipped to handle even if they are not even remotely safe.

Sadly more typical forging and simpler tasks they have a harder time of handling. Like weapons and armor from a goblin forge are of subpar quality. On the other hand, war engines from Goblin Forges are of strangely great quality. Even if many lives were lost during their creation.

Special non magical fungus needs to be unlocked first and will cost roughly anyway from 100 points to even 1000 for the great stuff but never more. Unless you want the giant, rare, or magical stuff.

Underground dwarves have many enemies. On the surface, it's mostly elves and dragons. Some say Orcs and Goblins but not really. Orcs are near everybody's enemy due to their warlike nature, willingness to serve vile powers, and love of fighting. Goblins meanwhile are a bunch of a clever humanoid vermin so nobody likes them.

Dwarves and Elves though? Their hatred goes WAY back.

Underground dwarves have many enemies. Mostly due to how greedy they are and their blatant bigotry.

>100 spent on Bugs have been purchased. Bug Farm has been upgraded!

>Your older goblins are now adults as such they have proper Professions

Sadly none of them are any special breed of goblin.

Meanwhile, you oversee the additional farm being built of Cave Piggies. -1400 with discounts included.

Mining Magma Flood Plain has been constructed. Which not only offers minerals and rock, it also produces lots of energy. Sadly its tiny for now now.

Gained
>Tiny Cave Pig Farm lv 0
>Tiny Magma Mining Flood Plain lv 0

The earth elementals were immensely useful for construction and digging. Their control over earth is unmatched. Even you learned some things about earth magic from watching their actions. The fire elementals have largely concentrated around the forge and clay kiln, but one has wandered into the Tavern's Kitchen. Shortly after minions celebrated the new 'barbeque' drinks and 'spicy' drinks.

The goblin working the forge and kiln with the aid of the fire elementals have improved performance. With the new flow of ore and minerals coming in. Production has ramped up. The forge goblins are currently puzzling out metallurgy. So far they have produced tools of copper.

Workers have requested the need for more space in their facilities and more workers Overlord.

We are running out of room in the sleeping quarters Overlord.

Earth Elementals have entrenched themselves in digging and construction. With one earth elemental who seems strangely interested in the puppets you made.

You need to give in already either pay for the unlocks or go out recruiting.

Fortunately Mud Golems are...messy. Very difficult to identify their weak spots thanks to all the goop. Even for you their creator would be hard pressed to identify the weak spots contained within. Mud golems are very messy like that.

>>2372219
Sleeping quarters have been expanded.

You can if you had the blueprints. Traps require blueprints before you can attempt to build them. Some basic traps like pits don't need blueprints. Same with Glyphs because you know Glyphs.

Now all you had to do is find the goblin who can make shit explode.

"Tell me which one of you made the explosives," you asked the crowd of goblins only to be met with silence.

"Tell me now or die to a bunch of dwarves headed this way," you threaten.

Realizing death by hairy migets loomed overhead a bunch of goblins all pointed at a single goblin who looked around and spewed curses at them after realizing they sold him out. Soon after they pushed him out of the crowd and out before you.

"Well now your the bomber, guess what I need you for," you mutter looming before him in a menacing fashion.

"Eh...make shit go BOOM?" The clever goblin asks before you sorta half nod.

"I need some bombs and I heard your the one who can make them."

"Eh of course Boss how many and how big?" Asks the clever goblin bomber.

After giving out the orders you see to it craft another puppet before the dwarves could arrive and made sure to scry to see what's heading towards you exactly.

The dwarves look less like lightly armored scouts and more like a bunch of soldiers. They wear heavy armor and keep weapons in hand with experienced ease. Looking past them you look into the other interlopers. What you see surprises you somewhat.

Kobolds. Midgets and distant relatives of dwarves but without the honor, less hair, and a bunch of treacherous bastards. Kobolds love mining, sailing, silver, and trickery. Kobolds are weak creatures but make up for it with sheer treachery. They love traps and other treacherous methods to level the playing field.

They weren't the only things coming to investigate besides the dwarves.

Orcs a proper troop of them even and they brought something nasty with them. A Cave Troll. Meaning they mean business. Cave trolls despite their size are surprisingly spry creatures and able to squeeze into tight confines easily. Worst still they have a natural instinct for caves and underground weak spots. Which means they can even give dwarves a headache despite their stone mastery. Much less the mined out areas by a bunch of shitty goblins.

You were almost about to miss the last group. Luckily the Overlord's Scry is not by any means weak. It was able to break their shroud of illusion concealing them. Even then you had to look carefully to spot them. Elves. Dark Elves and they ride giant spiders. Luckily there are only a couple scouts with their mounts but they bode ill.

As the elves would say Dark Elves are so insane not only did they forsake the surface. They even went so far as to ally themselves with Dark Dwarves. truth is Dark Elves really aren't right in the head Overlord.

It takes a special kind of broken to not only forsake their kin and leave the surface but also forsake everything it meant to be an elf. Putting aside their love of nature and even ignoring old grudges to ally themselves with Dark Dwarves. Dark Elves are cruel creatures with a love of slavery and a disdain for nature to such a degree. The only dark elves still on the surface prefer barren places like deserts. Elves hate them dearly considering them vile traitors of the highest order and honestly the only creatures who DON'T hate dark elves are Dark Dwarves. Somehow the two...reached an accord and got along swimmingly.

How this is impossible most would say its because they are both obviously just that mad. As much as I hate to admit...they DO have a point Overlord.

Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves have largely forsaken everything it meant to be kindred with their own kind. Throw in some good old fashion crazy and there you go.

Traditionally speaking Overlords are one of the few things that have any kind of cordialness with them. Most prefer to avoid dealing with dark elves and dwarves. Forsaken creatures that they are their cruelty and insanity is well known. Makes dealing with them difficult even for an Overlords.

...well shit critical 100 on a random event.

Goddamn it.

----
Kobolds were the first to realize the presence of the dwarves and orcs. Soon they huddled up and came up with a devious plan. As they split into two parties and moved out. One party went to the dwarves setting up some traps before digging. The second party went to the orcs and did the same.

Soon both parties ran right into kobold traps infuriated they pressed onwards when they 'stumbled' upon the kobold miners digging who panicked and fled. Both kobold parties fled right towards each other...and guided both enemy parties right into each other.

After the fight broke out between them. The kobolds extracted themselves and prepared to watch the show they created. Then a dark elf suddenly popped up behind them and spoke a single word.

"Boo."

Which freaked the kobolds right out and they charged right into the melee. Preferring to fight their way through them then face invisible dark elves behind them. At this point, the dark elves snickered among themselves when a strange dark flame appeared in their midsts. This freaked the dark elves out a spirit appeared before them and spoke "Pickaboo I see you," the spirit spoke. Which frightened the dark elves quite badly. Then the spirit spoke once more. "Behind you."

The dark elves thought themselves too clever and didn't turn around...their mistake really. As a Lava Lord rose up from the sea of fire and stepped down on right top of them. Squeeshing them like bugs before looking down at the spirit and spoke with its fiery voice.

"Pests. I hate pests. Why spirit why did you attempt to WARN them," it croaked out at the dark flame spirit in response it merely flickered before speaking.

"Figured they deserved to see their inevitable doom, your Majesty. Why have you decided to come to shore?"

"Why else? I heard an infuriating noise caused by pests that badly need squashing," booms the Lava Lord looking around with a frown. "No matter how many times I wash them all away in a wave of endless fire they just KEEP coming back. Bah."

"That is why their pests. Do you intend to perform another cleansing your Majesty?"

"Not right now. I want to kill as much of them as possible. Be a waste to do it too soon. I'll just order the elementals to go on a rampage. Teach them that pests should ACT like pests. They'll live longer that way. Come to think of it isn't it a bit...'bright' for your kind?" Asks the Lava Lord.

"I linger underground a bit but like you the noise bothered me. So I came out to have some fun and teach some lessons."

"HAH I saw what you did. You're pretty good spirit you do your kind proud. Let them squabble among themselves and then nail the final nail in their coffin yourself. Well done. If only the other elementals and spirits could appreciate such thought. Damn shame they haven't had the balls to build a city on a shore...ah I was looking forward to destroying one," complains the Lava Lord as it walks along the shore.

Critical Failure detected.

Attempts to use the mud puppets to create pits and form jagged rocks go poorly. As their attempts to dig resulted in them filling up the holes and making jagged rock resulted in melted rock not sharp.

fire elementals meanwhile got lost near the entrance. Not sure where they went couple went deeper into the dungeon and the rest...are outside somewhere.

Rock traps fall upon our own forces. The elementals didn't notice the goblins did. Crushing one of them death.

lost 1 goblin.

Attempts to make the goblins take defensive positions results in cowardly goblins abandoning their posts and hiding in the sleeping quarters under their beds quivering in fear.

Attempts to rouse a magma monster from the magma sea results in stillest stretch of molten magma ocean that you would have thought it cooled down.

10 new goblins are summoned and confused at whats going on.

Bomb goblin accidentally fell into a pit trap and begs for aid.

Attempts to control multiple puppets at once fails spectacularly as their control nodes somehow suffer critical failure and they collapse. Puppets require repairs.

Glyphs have been placed down but as it turned out you mixed them up and they aren't trap glyphs at all.

You accidentally unlocked the wrong thing. Instead of orcs you unlocked a different catagory. That being animals.

Your attempts to pray to a deity results in angering that deity that an Overlord would have the GALL to beseech their aid. As a result they curse you instead.

Spend the unlock to grab a few orcs and a small army ant hive. The orcs could hold the line and the ants kill the troll by going for the eyes or something. Assuming we can control their movement. Even then we could end up allies, but prepping for a fight will be good. If there is time to make the room bigger or a new one for the not gobs, we'll need it.

Since we have animals unlocked. Grab chickens for the feathers and more food.

... I'm not sure how to best play the wizard overlord. Do we have auras to place in the dungeon to boost our minions? Something to help with fights or drain power from the heroes or the like.
>>
>>2374511
Chickens are a good idea, I’m thinkng we should unlock worms too, chickens can eat them, worms will eat fire mud and likely upgrade into fire worms very quickly, thus fire chickens. Fire chicken feathers as fletchings on arrows, Fire attuned meat, fire eggs...

As far as magic dungeon master, we need to into stupid magic traps. Magic traps are fucked.

Magma Tsunami detected!
WARNING

"...You know I was right about to compliment you on how your worth every penny but now I changed my mind," you say to the dark spirit.

"...Well I didn't think the Lava Lords would consider it worthwhile yet. Normally they only do this when the 'pests' become too full of themselves or someone made them angry. So on average, it's only an every once in awhile event," tries to defend the dark spirit.

"Still you any IDEA how badly this sets back my plans?"

The dark spirit stays silent before replying with smug voice "That is what digging deeper is for."

After ordering the earth elementals to block the entrance so you don't get flooded by magma. You got to work to fixing the mess from earlier. Which meant summoning back lost minions, dealing with goblin bullshit(again), and spend the rest of the time making repairs.

>>2374511
Kobolds are a level 0 sentient. Orcs are level 1. Though orcs ALSO qualify under evil groupings.

You don't have any cave chickens because you haven't bought any. For the record though they are cheaper then cave pigs.

Magi Overlords have MAGIC! Ultimately its what makes them the most difficult to deal with the Overlord variety. As you never quite know just what sorta magical tricks they still have up their sleeves. Martial Overlords on the other hand while monstrously powerful are quite straightforward.

A painfully common stereotype of magical Overlords is Necromancers, blood mages, and summoners with love for demons. If you want some inspiritation Overlord.

>>2375828
Eh, you only have glyphs. That's about it. Not that an explosive glyph to the face is anything to laugh at. My default the majority of magi know their glyphs due to necessity. As many magi weren't gifted magical blood and actually had to study or make a bargain for magic. Even those who ARE gifted with magical blood in order to best understand their powers and its origins. Have little choice but to learn glyphs.
>>
Rolled 75 (1d100)

>>2377000
On the other hand, those who aren't magi and understand glyphs are very rare. With a notable exception being thieves who target magi. They have little choice but study them due to magical traps.

>>2377000
Alert
A goblin whose reached maturity has manifested magical powers. Hence a Yob Goblin has appeared.

Be wary of Yob goblins most would argue they are the smartest goblin breed. Truthfully they are hard to shut up and their magical gifts see to it they can get into the sorts of trouble ordinary goblins can only dream about. Like summoning a gaggle of demons for shits and giggles before realizing they forgot to create a magic circle to contain them properly.

Wish I could say that is a rare occurrence. Bloody magical maniacs.

Some would argue you got lucky Overlord. I am of the opinion that this is going to bite you in the ass. Ordinary Goblins are bad enough as is. I will admit though many Overlords claim there is a special kind of joy that is unleashing a horde of goblins upon their enemies and innocent villagers. Something very amusing about it all.

Talking with the Forge Goblin and the fire elementals. Soon a couple other elementals are summoned as they discuss 'how' to upgrade the forge.

Their conclusions is as follows

>Earth elementals
Using the dark spirit to translate they suggest acquiring a certain type of clay. That they claim disperses heat from the outside of the container. Making it safe to touch even if it holds magma. Otherwise they state fire metals when forged properly has the ability to do the same.

>Fire Elementals
State that keeping a fire elemental present to control the flames. Though they claim it would be best if they had an air elemental to assist. Otherwise, they bring up somehow finding an Artisan Elemental. Who have a knack for crafting.

>Lava Elementals
State one of their kind can easily handle molten material but once it solidifies they lose their strong connection to the material. Hence they are better off in the Foundry unless you can find one of the rare artisan elementals.

>Goblins
Claim that with more goblins and greater size is all you need.

>Personally
You note the lack of any kind of magic. If you spent some time carving glyphs out you could probably improve the facility. Of course, more in-depth work would be even more useful but at the same time. It wouldn't be as quick as writing out some glyphs.

Goblin Forge has been upgraded.

Magma tsunami took care of them.

Seeing the painfully primitive stoneworking and mining done by the goblins you realize this needs to stop. Sadly you are unfamiliar with such topics besides turn the stone to mud and shovel away. Yet your a fellow of scholarly pursuits. Most importantly you have the aid of earth elementals.

-100 points on research.

With the aid of the earth elementals you were able to come up with some improvements for diggering and stonework. Even if you are still stuck with goblins for workers.

Lava Spewer Trap you do not have enough points for.

With the lack of moisture in the air. You resort to directly converting magic into water. Not nearly as effiecient but it can get the job done.

Sentient lv 1unlocked purchased -1000 points.

Additional piggies have been bought for the pig farm and it has been ugpraded. -400 points.

Firstly, we should begin expanding our fungal farm in order to improve our water and food supply.

Secondly, we should have our goblins resume expansion of our dungeon under our supervision, using bombs to accelerate their work given their great effectiveness.

Third, we should look into constructing a goblin foundry to process any metals we extract from the magma and rock. As currently we have a sotkc of unrefined ores which we could certainly use to enhance our tools and infrastructure.

Beastfolk have a long and complicated history. Little is known about them Overlord is because of their preference for wildlands. Only tribals had much contact except for the rare 'beastfolk' hordes erupt and charge into civilized lands.

Simply put Beastfolk HATE each other. Some are more social than others. Most are little more than savages, but a few, like the Rats, have actual surprisingly civilized cities. The most peaceful of Beastfolk are the herbivores with notable exceptions like the Hippo. The most warlike are the Predators.

What happens is either the civilized city beastfolk grow powerful enough to subdue their savage kin and then expand outward conflicting with the other races.

OR

The savage beastfolk get organized make alliances and tear down their civilized brethren...but they still aren't done yet. Forming a huge horde that then erupts outward and conflicts with other species.

Either way, everyone hates them and for good reason. Few realize that nobody hates beastfolk as much as other beastfolk.

For obvious reasons, beastfolk are most friendly with those of their own species, followed by related species, and finally if they are also Predators/so on. Everyone else they hate most of all.

Beastfolk is also notorious cannibals. From the scavengers, to the omnivores, predators, and surprisingly even the herbivores(who love eating plantfolk).

Of course your an Overlord. Those who FOLLOW an Overlord know better then to fight amongst themselves. Which is why its of CRITICAL IMPORTANCE that ALL followers of an Overlord swear to the Overlords Oath under your service. It prevents infighting and has numerous beneficial qualities.

Those who don't serve an Overlord often squabble but under the Banner of an Overlord there is nothing but Unity.
>>
>>2381826
>Correction

For obvious reasons, beastfolk are most friendly with those of their own species, followed by related species, and then if they are also Predators/so on. Finally followed by whether they prefer small family groups(least social), extended tribes(somewhat social), or cities(most social).

I forgot to include the last part. Apologies Overlord. It's a very important detail as it explains the most likely alliance patterns among the Beastfolk.
>>
>>2381676
If we wanted some sort of observation system, I'd advise training our goblin mage to scry the surrounding area. Something safe, effective and useful for a mage that might accidentally kill us if we let them learn anything too knowledgeable.

>>2381736
>Water can be improve viva magic. Assuming we can make a automated system to draw energy and make water. Saving space for more food types and possibly herbs for healing.
Yeah or we could use the fungi farm which is far easier, quicker and cheaper. Not to mention it provides food too.

>Not sure we want goblins digging drown or making large sounds. Since we have a a fire lord stumping around.
Bah, I get the feeling our dark fire spirit has settled things down. Plus we're sealed off from the surface so we should be fine.

>I'm hoping with summoning subterranean animals. We can have better diggers with more skill for the terrain below.
Who needs skill when you have high explosives and expendable labour? Also animals would need someone to manage / herd them which we lack.
>>
>>2381926
I support the goblin scryer, but I also wonder if any dorfs we summon would be the vanilla or the dark versions, and having better diggers means more ore and cleaner expansion.
>>
>>2381926
We'll need to learn the ratio of food to water ratio from those water shrooms. It's very likely they don't give very much quickly. Since its drawing water from the air around here. In fire land.

Nah. One of the Elementals told us that he's going to be stomping and we need to be digging down. So I'm inclined to believe that a turn has not been long enough.

We got beastfolk to summon us some beast tamer. I'm sure they'll be plenty skilled in their respective Animal Kingdom. Perfect for training moles and wolves for which to mount a wonderful Strike Force.
>>
As a side conversation. I'm very sad that we're not getting the chicken farm and worms to test the fireproof chickens. We would soon have wonderful beds for which higher grade minions needs will be filled. And possibly fire potions from eggs.
>>
>>2381940
>I also wonder if any dorfs we summon would be the vanilla or the dark versions
Dunno, I think vanilla with dark costing extra?

>having better diggers means more ore and cleaner expansion.
It may mean cleaner expansion (which I'd argue we have elemental's for, if we really need it) but the sheer number of goblin miners we can sustain (thanks to lower standards and living costs) and replace (assuming losses to random events) means they'd be able to excavate a larger area. I will concede that we'd probably want a cadre of smarter / wiser creatures to stop them from doing dumb shit mind you.

>>2381951
>We'll need to learn the ratio of food to water ratio from those water shrooms. It's very likely they don't give very much quickly. Since its drawing water from the air around here. In fire land.
You clearly missed the part where their room was described as having a good supply of moisture (to be expected given fungi grow there and all) in the previous thread. I'd point out that we're sustaining a fairly large population of goblins off of a tiny fungi farm, even if it is admittedly improved.

>Nah. One of the Elementals told us that he's going to be stomping and we need to be digging down. So I'm inclined to believe that a turn has not been long enough.
All the more reason to use high explosives. It'll ensure we get deep enough.

>I just likely forgot and remembered the plant in the wild info. Even then we can try growing and hope to get more water or make use of the magic know how of the ovelord. We got a pig and bug farm as well for food.
True but my point is that I'd prefer to rely on fairly mundane solutions. Simplicity is efficiency especially when a fungi farm can be more easily expanded by our masses of minions than a magical water generating spell.

>Yes. Because last time we used explosives got everything attention on us. Surely it will not happen again.
To be fair, the surface is covered in lava currently and shit is getting horribly messed up. So long as we are watching over the goblins and ensuring they don't use too much boom all at once, things should go fine.

>We've been told that we can summons a beast tamer before. Tho I assume it will cost more for skilled labor.
Yeah that makes sense but I must've missed it.

I'd refer you back to here >>2365392.

We have a solution to the problem in the form of putting the souls of the dead in and shit. So that'd be a potential use for the many souls of our goblins assuming we can get them to get in the giant robot shinji work with us on this. The problem of the rarity of goblin mages and such still exists but I have a solution to that too.

Instead of human sized golem suits: ogre sized ones, maybe even bigger. Let's create mobile siege machines with inbuilt weapons powered by the souls of the dammed!

>>2382154
That'd probably work.
>>
>>2382188
Even better, we make the siege-suits around the reanimated bones of some kind of giant creature for aesthetic purposes.
>>
>>2382188

>>2382211
Eh, my goal is less so magical, more so technological / sheer numbers. Most of my reason for wanting to use war machines is OP mentioned they are usually of high quality if made by a goblin forge unlike weapons which are sub-par.

Also the risk of a priest decimating us if we rely on necrotech is fairly high. If we merely use it to enhance what we can already do, we'll be a fair bit more resistant.

Oh I agree but the problem with magi-tech is we need to educate people in how to produce or at least design such things which generally will need mages. Something we have 1 of currently.

Perhaps glyphs could be used by our goblin labour force without any appropriate talent but that'd require educating them which in turn requires figuring out how to educate them to accurately and reliably carve / engrave symbols. Something which I think may be beyond their current tools.

>Eh I sure their is some counters. Like using priest from other gods or making areas unholy.
True but it is a major weakness. Especially if we want to ever go and do evil elsewhere.

You meanwhile took personal interest in metallurgy. As you have many ores that you don't recognize and those that you do. You're not well educated on their properties. The build-up of ores reminds you that need a proper foundry. So far you are able to identify mundane metals from the more magical variety. Some metals you realized were quite rare that you have in surprisingly large proportion if you ever got around to processing it all.

Sadly the lack of a foundry limits what you can do with the metals. Including potential experiments. Instead, you familiarize yourself with their raw forms. From places where they can usually be found, identifying one from another, and so forth.

Thanks to your Forbidden Knowledge you know this.

Orcs were successfully created as a slave soldier species after a long line of failures. They were made by torturing the orc fey and stuffing the souls of dead warriors inside what's left. They were bred for strength, toughness, agility, fast-breeding, and being able to follow orders without the brains question them. Very last was beauty.

Orcs know how to fight and wage war. Of which both they are very good at.

To this day orcs been broken up into several major types. First is those true to the 'old ways' in which they live to serve whoever is 'worthy'(see being the Master ranging from Overlords, twisted magi to Evil Gods and so on). Secondly are the orcs who offer their services to anyone who can pay. Thirdly are the 'feral' orcs who gone tribal in the sad attempt to find their own way without a master.

OOC they are a modified hybrid of warhammer, warcraft, and LOTR orcs. They make fantastic soldiers(albeit dimwitted) and know how to wage wars to an obsessive degree. Most importantly they love both and suck at everything else.
>>
>>2383515
Hmm..so I imagine they can't make their own armaments..what's their relationship with goblin folk like?
>>
>>2383522
They do know how they just honestly aren't that great at it. Yet they CAN churn out weapons, armor, equipment, and war machines like nobodies business.

Orcs are one of the few species who actually have a good relationship with goblins. For one very simple reason. Orcs are strong but dumb. Goblins are weak but clever. Orcs and goblins have long entered alliances with each other. With goblins cowering behind their orcish allies and helping to fund their orcish 'war machine'. In a surprisingly literal fashion.

Of course they also assist in other ways.

Goblins, strangely enough, are quite fond of orcs despite their bullying, and that is because of goblins despite being a bunch backstabbing cowards without common sense. Know that orcs are always worthwhile allies and provide protection in exchange for what goblins do best. see create havoc and more ways to create even MORE HAVOC. Orcs are honestly one of the only species dumb enough to take the risk of using goblin war machines and things like bombs(which are notorious). Despite how likely it will literally backfire on them.

As such despite being a bunch of clever backstabbing cowardly little shitstains goblins are strangely loyal to orcs and vice versa.

Though in the orcs' defense they are a bunch of morons. As only morons would actually trust goblins in any way. What is truly bizarre is how rarely this has backfired on them despite it being goblins behind it.

Another notable ally of Goblins is the Ogres, monsters like wargs, and Trolls.

Its worth noting Overlord you can get Ogres if you unlock lv 2 sentient and Ogres are very powerful but also very stupid creatures. Still they are too hard to beat in terms of cheap ass kickers on steroids.

Really though for Overlords on a budget and needing very powerful minions with very low living standards. Few indeed can compare with the mighty Ogre.

Dumber than a sack of bricks, but strong enough to give giants a run for their money. So Slow but tough enough take an insane beating without even realizing it. That it doesn't really matter they're that slow, to begin with.

While they DO have very low living standards(see not caring about living in a literal den of filth). They DO care about basic necessities a LOT(and consume a LOT), but their standards for them are so very low. Otherwise for one thing ogres wouldn't nearly so common(especially given how brutish their women are).

But if you want a wall of living muscle, tough bones, and tiny brains ogres are fantastic. There are many reports of ogres who had their heads chopped off kept right on fighting until blood loss caught up with them. Like headless chickens but far more vicious.

With your recruiting of goblins and orcs. I would strongly recommend acquiring Ogres too. It's very difficult to fight such a powerful but cheap packaged deal.

>>2383536
A worthy sacrifice. Such elementals are rare and will need special...bait to lure them over. Otherwise without the bait you'll most likely end up with normal elementals instead.

The works of artesian elementals are notoriously valuable/useful due to how insanely elementally attuned and powerful their items are. To the point where everybody who relies upon the elements desires them very badly(see just about everyone).

>>2383588
More or less but its reaching the point where I need to consider making a new thread anyway. Maybe today probably tomorrow or the day after that.

Anyway as a tip for anons feel free to design a dungeon map yourselves and also there is such thing as 'layers' or 'floors' but with a dungeon's ability. Its able to warp space and thus they are far larger then one would think. From having entire forests inside a SINGLE layer. Rooms/facilities when they become big enough often become their OWN floor entirely. At that point expansion can be near limitless.

So far you're still on layer one and I LOVED the earlier discussion among the players. That is stuff I like to see and it's totally doable the ideas you had. Once the dungeon is big enough I'll change the currency system around into something bigger and more expansive.

You guys have cool ideas and with the Magi Overlords specialty in research/forbidden lore. You can really pull off some cool shit if you devote the Overlord to figuring it out. Far faster then another type of Overlord.

Also you have MAGIC! Even better FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE is included and so you can do damn near anything you want. All it takes is some research and spell casting.

because MAGIC and Secret Knowledge is yours!

Also could we get a list for what magi-ores we've harvested?

Like some kind of time loop that resets all of the traps within the dungeon, magical barriers that cause people to wander and get lost forever , bending space and time to our will as we create an infinite forest that loops in on itself again and again and.....
>>
>>2383594
One of thee most infamous dungeons is the Lost Labyrinth. Where when you enter a new area and try to go back it leads to an entire different zone. Its nearly impossible to escape because of that+infinite looping.

So yeah dungeons can totally pull freaky shit like that off because Dungeons LAUGH at the laws of reality. I mean they can literally convert mass into energy and vice versa that's just one of its most basic abilities. Which alone makes it priceless.

>>2383589
Depends entirely on how much properties they share. Attempting to fuse a water metal with a fire metal is obviously going to enormously difficult. Far harder then say combining one fire metal with another type of fire metal. Of course if you can pull it off enhanced effects is the least of what can happen. Combinations can lead to entirely different properties altogether.

>>2383592
Devils Blood(far nastier version of mercury)
Rot Iron(appears strangely like rusty iron)
Death Diamonds(radiates powerful necromantic energies)
Nullers Lead(antimagic properties)
Mutanioum(makes you sick /mutations may occur)
Iceotope(think frozen radiation)
Bone Marble(closely related to limestone)

is some examples. So freaky magical shit. Its not that I don't wanna reveal more its just that I have a hard time coming up with names.

So

>The Catharc Riftworm
>The Cartharc Riftworm is a...peculiar creature, for not only is it one of the only creatures not composed of living stone or animated magma that actively seeks out the extreme heat of the various magma lakes within the underdark, it also happens to not be a predator, much preferring to simply carve tunnels and eat well...just about anything that falls into it's maw.
>Originating from the Durigar holding of Cartharc from which it gained its name, the Riftworm is surprisingly passive for a being of it's considerable size, often outright ignoring anything short of multiple direct shots with a variety of siege weapons.
>Another intriguing facet of the Riftworm is it's digestive tract, not only containing multiple stomachs to digest the mishmash of stone and ore that falls into it's mouth, but also a hive of symbiotic "hunter" organisms that dwell within it, hunting down anything that attempts to cause their carriers harm.
>There are whispers that, during the great schism that would result in the durigar being driven underground, that one of their clan-heads (Cartharc Spitehammer) tamed a Riftworm and it's hunter-hives and used it to transport his clan underground to where now the grand holding of Cartharc sits, although such ancient knowledge of the techniques utilised to tame the Riftworm have long since faded from time...

Pretty much. Overlords who have a surplus often sell to the dungeon market and the dungeon market connects to other dungeons. So when u buy something chances are it came from another dungeon. This even expands into research and the like. Of course, it's never free.

You can even buy completed research but generally its a lot cheaper but more time consuming to do it yourself. Luckily your a Magi Overlord so researching is something you have long gotten used to and are very good at.

It also goes without saying all these systems, all Overlords, and their dungeons. All are owned by the force that granted them to you. They are very powerful beings and even more knowledgeable than the gods themselves. Overlords are just one of their agents a pawn allowed to lead other pawns.

The deals they offer however are very difficult to beat. As they are certainly powerful enough to keep your soul from being judged by the gods and sent down to hell. Sadly those same deals also come at a very high cost.

If your desperate need you may beseech them but be warned Overlord. If you ask much of them they grant you something not meant for humans. Many a foolish Overlord have driven themselves insane from requesting too much.

As a Magi Overlord this is a problem your especially close to. If you dig too deep in knowledge beyond human comprehension...bad things happen. Humans can only endure so much and things break down badly when its beyond what humans can handle.

build some more farms(including a worm farm). Craft an Orcish Forge. buy animals to upgrade the farms. See if the goblins have any clever ideas. Purchase elemental summoning and research it.

Your starting to use up an awful lot of dugout space Overlord. It would be wise to employ more diggers and to upgrade preexisting facilities.

>Plant Farm Constructed -600.

>Worm Farm constructed -200.

>Animals purchased and placed within the farms.
Farmers suggest buying more animals to upgrade the farms and also claim more room would be nice.

Orcs have been brought forward and they discuss constructing an Orcish Forge. However, the Forge Goblins have complained about it claiming additional forges are unnecessary especially with the lack of a Foundry to turn ore into metal. Goblins state Orcish Forges are crude and of poor quality. They cannot handle more complex tasks that the goblin forges easily can. The Orcs point out Orc Forges are much better equipped to handle 'actual' work then fancy machines and more importantly can churn out a lot of product. Sure the quality is a bit lacking but it still gets the job done.

>Orcish Forge constructed -1000.

Orcish Forges are safer then Goblin Forges but unable to handle complex tasks. They are also lacking in quality but make up for it in quantity. With the forge constructed Orcs have started beating goblins into coming up with metallurgy and a foundry. The first of which they complain about but actually agree with the orcs on the second.

>Goblin Foundry under Construction ETA UNKNOWN
>Orcish Recycler under Construction ETA UNKNOWN

An Orc complains to the dungeon about the lack of a Den. Dens are where beasts dwell Overlord think of them as collective sleeping quarters for the creatures. Monsters unlike beasts need special sleeping arrangements this is mostly due to their disgusting way of life. Nobody wants to live in that not even Beasts. As such Monsters need their own Lairs. Though some monsters don't mind sharing living spaces with beasts or sentient minions, in general, they are among the exceptions.

The Orcs are very insistent on and even the goblins agree. Stating that rearing battle boars and vicious fighting cave cocks. Is not possible without the ability to place them away from their civilized brethren where they go...primal once more.

----
Three goblins are huddled before the Overlord as he demands any 'ideas' they had. The goblins grumble among themselves and start pointing fingers. Before finally agreeing on something as the boss forge goblin steps forward to speak.

"Goblins is eh clever mastah but goblins can only do so much with a lack of proper materials and facilities. Like the bomber not having a proper practice range to blow shit up in ahem 'train in' or a proper place to work like an Alchemists Lab. I haz been experimenting with some of da glyphs you da Overlord made or more precisely I been copyings them with coppah. Had Yobs copy da shit in a mold that I been filling trying to make some copies. Took awhile to figurez it out key is Copper. Problem is Copper is weak and fragile. Easy to break but I got the copied glyphs to work at least. Took a lot of molds and metals."

"wait are you telling me you figured out how to COPY a working magical Glyph with nothing but some clay and...copper?"

"Aye Boss," agrees the forge goblin bobbing his head and upper body up and down.

"...Impressive. Copied Glyphs like that cost a lot on the surface, keeps many a Glyph Maker in business. Magi rarely bother with it beyond scrolls. Anything else?"

The goblins put their head together and discuss things in goblin before reaching some kind of consensus. As the forge goblin speaks up once more.

"Aye Boss one last thing. Bit ova work in progress with da Orcs but erez wut we got," chuckles the magi goblin as he pulls out a scroll covered in...some kind of scribbles and childish doodles. "Orcs asked us Goblins to make eya war machine thingy. Here iz da blueprint."

"..." No matter how you look at that thing it is NOT a blueprint.

"Sadly with da lack of metals and mushroom woodz we'ze couldn't do much with it but then we remembered something important. We got rock, we got elementals, and we got Magma. So we teamed up with dem orcs to beat up some elementals to get them to work on dis ere idea of ours," continues the Magi Goblin point at the scroll 'blueprint'.

...finally you had no choice but to give in and ask what's it suppose to be.

"Dis here is called a Kannon," giggles the Bomber Goblin.

"Aye he iz roight, don't know how dem orcs got a hold of giant technology but ere we go," agrees the magic goblin. "Now wutz we do iz is stick a bomb down the da hole and den we stick whateva we wantz to send flying. then BOOM, but all like...controlled and shit," continues the Magic Goblin. "Well at least that's wutz suppose to happen. Usually da cannon gets blown to bits too, but if we use this port ere to poor magma inside, it ignites da bomb, and we hav dem elementals to reinforce and repair da cannon. BOOM BOOM BOOM, even pure metal cannons can't be repaired nearly as easy da rocky ones," giggles the magic goblin. "Of course dis is all like assuming we haz elementals on handz and besides that da after we iz picked da orcy brains we got some cool ideas too. "yeah FUCK Gnomes," agrees the forge goblin spitting on the ground in disgust. "tinking complexity is da shit and that you should care about 'safety' bah and dey wonderz why uz goblinzez beat da shitz out of Gnomey inventions!"

"So how far did you get along with these...'machines'."

"Oh why don't you azk dis goi roight ere," says the goblin dropping a mishapen doll that then proceeds to move and curse with a familiar voice.

"FUCKING GOBLINS JUST BECAUSE IT DON'T WORK DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN SHOVE ME INSIDE WHATEVER IT IS AND ASK WHY!" Screams the pissed off dark spirit.

"Why not," asks the Magic Goblin point at the clock that surprisingly enough functions. "Worked like a noice charm da last time."

"THAT IS WHY YOU TAKE IT APART AND SEE WHATS WRONG YOU FUCKING IDIOTS. HOW IS THE SOLUTION INSTEAD TO KIDNAP SOMEONE AND STUFF EM INSIDE?" Howls the angered toy as it swipes futilely at the goblin in question. Only to have its arms fall off.

You can't help but look down and ask the unfortunate spirit how it even got trapped in there in the first place.

"OI DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT. THE STUPID MAGIC GOBLIN STUFFED ME INSIDE WITH MAGIC! YOU'RE THE ONE AT FAULT HERE FOR TEACHING HIM MAGIC!"

In response you frown and feel a headache coming before turning towards the magic goblin and asking a very important question. "Why do you know magic? I never taught you any."

"PSSHT," snickers the magic goblin before replying. "Wheneva people killed goblins. Magic goblins die first. If we goblinz didn't know how to rediscover and use magics alone. We would have long last the ability to use it!"

That...that actually answers a lot of questions about goblins and gives you a much bigger headache. Goddamn it...

"Becuz we'ze magic goblins is da bestest!" continues the magic goblin refusing to shut up. "Dey try to take our magics away, but we always gets itz back. No mattah wut. We magic goblins don't need no fancy 'teaching' to figure out magic. We'ze smart enough to not need that shit! Because iz the da bestest!"

Ignoring the goblins you spent -1000 on unlocking lv 1 elemental summoning. After doing that you cross-referenced with your own experiences and knowledge before drawing up a summoning circle. This having to pay the dungeon is old...but why can't you summon them yourself and avoiding pay for it? Especially when you want something more advanced like an Elemental Crafter. Fortunately with some work on the materials you have, you can create a pretty good elemental circle.
>>
Rolled 48 (1d100)

>>2385722
Sadly it's only good enough to handle earth and fire. Not to mention its unable to handle summoning the truly powerful elementals like Elders and Jinn. Still so long as its not 'true' strong you should be fine. Sadly creating an elemental circle that can handle calling one of them forth is no small task and requires extremely rare materials. Still you carve out the circle and mutter to yourself about what to fix or include. When a strange slimmy popping sound comes towards you. Looking up from your work you see a Magma Elemental staring down at you before it gurgles a question in the elemental tongue.

"Why not fuze Earth and Fire?" It asks in a strangely whispery voice before pointing at the two separate circles you carved into the floor.

...Which come to think of it is a very good question. Especially with hybrid elemental before your very eyes. Looking down at both circles you can't help but...consider it.

Everyone knows of summoning circles which can handle outsiders from 'anywhere'. Then there are more specialized circles like those meant to contain demons. Yet...a hybrid circle you don't quite recall any beyond that. A strange chasm between 'everything' and only 'one' thing exists in summoning circles.

Thinking about this you ask the magma elemental about it as it bubbles in ponderance before replying.

"We are children of Earth and Fire. Like Water in form but we are not its child. Hybrid Summoning circles complex because of the expected reactions and tricky because of the unexpected reactions."

Testing it out you failed to make a hybrid circle between the two...but then those words came back to you. As you start thinking about a summoning circle for water elementals. It Form to be exact...combining that with Earth and Fire.

Several experiments on clay slabs later one of them sparkled to life and summoned a tiny lava elemental. Which made you smile because of 'success'. At long last thanks to the words of a mere lesser magma elemental.

>Gained Summoning Circles

Congratulations on the construction of a summoning circle Overlord. They will directly reduce the cost of summoning beings that qualify as reinforcements. WITHOUT having to order bulk amounts. Think of it as a free discount instead of the discount you get for being such a great customer.

More importantly, you can summon beings you haven't even unlocked yet and thereby indirectly unlocking them for your dungeon Overlord.

Now you no doubt know Elementals are their Elements Incarnated into a very real being instead of a natural phenomenon. Slightly different from spirits and favored over them for one very simple reason. Elementals abide by a strict Code that they literally cannot break. When forced to break them they will literally self-destruct before it can happen. They refer to said Code as the Elemental Laws. As such unlike the chaotic Fey Elementals are extremely lawful beings. Just don't ever ask them to do something against their code.

That is how you end up wasting a bunch of otherwise useful Elementals.

Its also why Overlords who love Outsiders has minions exist. While they don't reproduce 'naturally' on their own when reinforcements can be summoned for a discount it works in its own way. Of course, putting up with the upfront cost in exchange for minions who will reproduce on their own has its own benefits. Especially when you can sell them back to the market for a profit!
