Welcome to part Four of the traditional Evolution game, now Traditional Evo Expanded. Anyone is free to drop in and play at any time and drop out at any time. The rules of the game are simple and are as follows:
1. Find a creature that is still alive
3. Paste the creature in a pixel editor program like MSPaint
4. Make a noticeable mutation for them that makes sense and is not too major
5. Add necessary format either in description or within its picture, please follow format shown below this post for this
5. Post evo here, with a description of what changed

Now, for do's/don'ts
DO post no matter how shitty your art is! WE NEED YOU! It's not that hard to edit in paint, just do your best!
DO try to use the pencil tool instead of brushes, as it will make it easier to edit linework and recolour
DON'T mutate the same creature over twice in a row! There'll be plenty of family lines in need of love.
DON'T overdo mutations. A creature doesn't suddenly grow legs, intellect and fire-breathing.
DON’T forget the format, otherwise people won’t know where your creature is from or what it eats etc.
DON’T forget to link back to creature you have evolved when posting
DON’T forget to have fun, and don’t forget to post, more players and less lurkers is what will keep this alive
For those that don’t know or are knew, here are some other tips that will make this a far easier experience for you,
If you draw something that has evolved from nothing it will be killed off
If you draw something from scratch and its doesn’t fit on the evo tree it will be killed off (so please base size off existing evo’s, anything over 700x700 = instant death)
If you need help just ask
If you want to participate further the discord is https://discord.gg/kk8eJgJ
If you want to show Op some love then use a name so I can keep track of how many people are playing and how many are leaving
Again, without further ado, let us begin!

Here is the new format that we will be using throughout evo, for now the size limit of evos is 700 x 700 pixels, this is the size of the animal and does not take into consideration, diagrams or descriptions attached, making evo’s 700x700 is still not advised however, this size is also subject to change in future threads

***EVENT***
A small string of meteors passed LV-427 recently with the majority of them colliding with the dark side of the moon. A very small amount of the meteors collided with LV-427 coincidentally in the Badlands and waters surrounding it, These Blue crystals are incredibly sparse and seem to serve no purpose but Cynemorph Repellent. Other creatures that are exposed to these crystal chunks for long periods will usually experience haemorrhaging, dehydration, infections and eventual death.

for some Noolor, vent tubes allowed the plant to manage excess heat and prevent it from being baked. Others simply increased the available thermal mass and surface area by growing ever taller.

Enter the: Noolor Palm

Exactly like any other Noolor, but bigger. An interesting change begins to take place inside the plant, its leaves now radiate more thermal energy than they absorb. Though the leaves are black, specialized cells endlessly convert heat energy to IR wavelength which is absorbed via chemical reaction with volcanic minerals. Reliance on the sun is slowly coming to an end.

I really wish this guy was more descriptive when it comes to his evolutions.
Like a single complete sentnece would be better than this sentence fragment garbage. Especially when It doens't even meet the minimum requirements.
Even Anons are more descriptive.

WHY did these creatures evolve?
Some of these just seem too random and extreme to have happened within a single generation despite the fact that the mutation is more of a hinderance than a benefit.
I know I'm bitching but its It just seems like this guy is just half-assing his way in when compared to every other player.

The Purpehote is a new kind of Collective Purp, distinguished by a mutation that has caused the bodies of their Collectors and Brutes to protrude downwards, giving them many advantages: the ability to use their grabbers more efficiently for Collectors, the ability to grab their Opponent for brutes, and more space for organs for both. Even further, this change has given these Purpehotes much higher land speed. Unfortunately, this gene is not present in Diggers or Queens.

Purely by circumstance, a population grundehoff was isolated and inbred to the point of near-total death by mutation, leaving a population of bloated beyul-uprooters.

The trunk has raised into a chimney position to make way for the jaws, making it easier to feed. The nodes coming out of the trunk are bloated smell receptors that lead to a gigantic chambered lung. The front tooth is for eating tough food and cradling eggs. Their legs have become bulkier for digging, but far less mobile. As a result, they have to fight off predators instead of running.

A population of creatures so radically different from their ancestors can't be expected to last long, and they'd likely be dead if not for their high-tolerance diet.

They are now large enough to support creatures roaming around on them, but still tend to stay near enough to the shore to swim to and from them

some BlandBeyul suffer from a mutation that causes more and more 'heads' to sprout, as the stem grows beyond the initial crown. This proves short-term successful as it helps in competition for light in the dense BlandBeyul forests. As many of the non-thermal Nolors inside the forests have found themselves overheating and burning prematurely, one strand of them thrives on the hellish climate brought about by it's neighbors.
The Ash Nolor. Unable to absorb metals from the soil, the Ash Nolor burns rather early in it's life. Though looking much like it's ancestor, the hardwood Ashleaf, the Ash Nolor's Bark can withstand the fires.

Burning slowly, the Ash Nolor's bark's top-layer burns off, leaving an insulating layer of Ash on the layers below.
As the Nolor gets older, the ash layer thickens and grows hard, turning it into an effective protection measure, keeping the bark underneath just cool enough as to not catch on fire.
It takes up to 500°C to fully set the plant on fire.

Due to excessive grazing, The BlueBeyul has had to evolve some defensive capabilities. the first was to grow taller to avoid creatures from plucking the fruits before they are ripe, the other is to evolve a thorny exterior to prevent creatures from simply climbing the plant.
>>
>>2386259
Would a Nolor forest even be able to reach 500°C? All living things are mostly water after all, and water has a evaporation point of 100°C, so the heated trees will kill themselves before they heat anything to particularly high temperatures.
>>
>>2386429
well the nolor forests already reach 200 C on a regular basis, and these trees descent from a long line of pyrophile plants

Due to the successfuly hive dynamics of the Teir-yits, they have grown larger, as such they require more food.
An adaptation which has proven beneficial to gathering food at night would be their new compound eyes, which pick up ultraviolet and infrared light.
>>
>>2387092
The sudden population boom of the beyul plant and lack of natural predators has given the Teir-yits even more food, allowing them to grow much larger.

To compensate for the size of their new homes, the workers have started to use their natural cooling as a ingredient in their "towers" making them a lot stronger at the expense of taking longer to make.

Meanwhile the "horns" on the Collectors have grown into sharper points that can be stabbed into a attacker as they are being chased, as well as a overall more tall stance to view more of their surroundings.

Both kinds of Yits have also developed more articulated tarsals to even better preform intricate tasks, these new features are the same color as their mandibles due to their more delicate nature

As the Ash Nolor is able to compete with it's exothermic cousins again, it manages to claim more nutrients from the soil before burning to the ground. This has caused a massive growth spurt in it's population.

The Ash Nolor now stands at 1.5 meters tall, almost 4 times larger than before.

Nolor Palms grow Thick. not just Thick, but EXTRA THICC!

This increased thermal mass allows them to fully take advantage of volcanic heat in lieu of direct sunlight as the ash palms outcompete them for available light. In a bizarre form of very, very, slow biological warfare, the Thicc Nolor Palms will outcompete ash nolors for space not in the vertical, but the horizontal. Their metallic skin reaches temperatures greater than the non metallic plants can withstand, and will eventually bake out their rivals.
>>
>>2388701
Ash Nolors develop Biogenic Silica as a heat refraction method. Their ashy husks glisten in the light, and allow them to endure greater external heat. More importantly, the incorporation of silica as a non-essential building block allows the plants to capitalize on a new resource in soil that is very depleted.

As a final form of biological warfare, the Ash Nolor will slowly shed it's silica rich leaves, burying the Thicc Nolor Palms over time.

well in my previous post on them, they were as well, but only because the shiny tree is using up all the light. I would suggest that you could evolve them into a sort of heat driven proto bamboo with a massive central smoke stack and mostly hollow body, feeding off the volcanic soot and gasses their root system bores into deep underground, ever polluting the land. That's a nice idea right?

>>
>>2388757
well mine certainly isn't, as it's actively trying not to.
>>
>>2388757
If we adhere to previous threads, the only ones who are hot on the inside are the ones with vents, and If we adhere to physics, they cannot heat themselves to more than 100°C or they cook themselves.
>>
>>2388845
do you even fucking know what you're talking about?
Literally just googling "when does wood ignite" will tell you that the average piece of wood catches on fire at around 180°C, some types won't even burn until 260°C
100 isn't even enough to char most woods
it takes at the very least 120, usually more around 150.

This is not even to mention that A) Nolors are specifically designed to withstand high temperatures and B) no one, not even once, suggested that this is their internal temperature.
The guy who made the Nolors hot in the first place specifically stated, that they are far cooler on the inside than their surroundings, because their internal heat is regulated by vents-branches. Everything around them gets so because of the number of Nolors around.
They're radiators, not ovens.

I threw it out there in chat, but they are thermophiles, that live in volcanic areas/ on the edge of.

The Thicc Palm Nolor dissapates heat via huge amounts of thermal mass (its body) and its leaves/ bark radiating off heat. That same external heat source drives metabolic processes for growth within them via several mechanisms.

The Shiny Ash mostly just likes light, and hates other nolors, so it suffocates them with silica covered leaves over time, causing them to enter into a heat death or just lack of light/ air.

While the claws are now present on all limbs of Purpehotes, that is not the most important development they have recently undergone: that title would go to their improved respiratory system, allowing them to grow twice as big as before. Of course, due to the square-cube law, twice the size means 8 times the volume, and with the Purpehote's new form not requiring much additional brainpower, they now have 7 times more unused brain matter than useful. Time will tell if those new smarts will play a role...

After reaching maturity, the Ash Nolor usually finds itself unable to reproduce, as it's heat-resistance prevents it to spread.
In response to this, younger members of the plant that yet lack their distinctive Ash-bark, have started to reproduce as early as possible.
This is done with a light and brittle layer of wood, that when burned, easily sheds from the tree.

This Spore-bark functions as it's name implies.
Though too heavy for flight under normal circumstances, the strong updrafts of the scorching Nolor forests, give it just enough air-time to leave the forests behind and spread into the wider Badlands.

those Ash nolor that find their way to the shore, away from the constant fires of the forests, can finally be seen in all of it's natural beauty.
With the absence of fire, these Ash Nolors no longer develop ash-bark, while retaining the ability to do so anyway.

The Spore-bark however has a much harder time coming off and spreading without the fires. Though no adaption is necessary, as the salty air and strong winds coming from the sea, are just enough to make them shed pieces of their bark, further helping them spread, albeit at a drastically lower rate than previously.

" A series of rumbles erupts throughout the entirety of the continent, growing louder and louder until the volcano erupts violently, throwing rocks, lava and thick choking clouds of ash into the air. The sky becomes dark, and the world becomes hot and mobile; only the most adaptable will survive"

Every land, shore, and river based creature must roll 1d10, if the creature gets a 6+ it can immediately move to the next roll. Any creature that fails the roll must evolve a mutation to survive lack of oxygen, extreme heat, or sudden loss of habitat (preferably all three)

The next roll is a 1d6, which determines the new location of your creature,
1= The Whip beached,Florainsulam
2= The mainlaind, Terrapetram (current continent everything is on)
3= The cold and rocky MortemRegio
4= The ever shifting Leaf Mats (any creature that gets this will become either inherently migratory or stick to the 4 or so large "islands")
5= The SouthEastern Desert, Solitudinus
6= The North Western Marsh, Infecturran
7=Global
8=Rollers Choice

And the last category is the Nolors! Due to their mineral and nutrient heavy nature they have become too at risk with this new event, as they just cook inside their metal bark, leaving behind solid husks on barren land. Any new nolor evos are going to need to evolve away their metal coats and buff up their other strengths to survive this new world

May your rolls be fortunate!

Correction:

The ocean now sits at around 19°C with it hottest areas at 36°C and coldest at -1°C. The surface temperature of LV-427 has also increased with temperatures at roughly 30°C on average, with coldest average being 23°C and hottest average being 48°C .

Nolors from what I have been looking through are apperently able to get up to tempatures of 48-51ish °C if I remember correctly, but only at the most dense part of the forest

While the bodies of Purpehotes were already prepared for high temperatures by ages of inhabiting Nolor Forests, the polluted air killed the Diggers and Queens, as they did not possess the same respiratory horns as the surface-going Collectors and Brutes, seriously impacting the growth rate of the population and their digging capability. In their new, chaotic and ever-changing environment, the Purpehotes had no chance of surviving purely through physical features, not with the losses suffered from the event. A few Purpehotes have been able to thrive though, thanks to a new development in their brains: primitive problem-solving and logistics. Purpehotes are no longer limited to just their instincts, and while they are not even close to being as smart as even a monkey, they are capable of adapting to their environment in a span much less than generations and manage their resources more efficiently.

A rare mutation caused by the background radiation of the Badlands sometimes causes the Red Crystal Nolor to produce an endothermic chemical reaction, rather than an exothermic one.

Normally this is rapidly fatal to the seedling as it fails to reach the temperatures necessary for its life-processes to occur, but with the new, much hotter atmosphere, some of these Refrigerated Nolor are able to maintain exactly the right temperature to survive while others overheat.

When the plant is exposed to heat from a specific direction, a chemical signal is released causing all the roots on that side of the plant to contract, releasing their grip on the soil & allowing the elastic fibres in its branches to fling the plant away from the fire. Damage to the plant will also trigger this response.

Because the roots are not left behind with this method it also take less time for the plant to grow back into shape & reset this mechanism.

The Glurad Purp have from the badlands into the rocky mountains of Terrapetram, They are always on the move, hiding out in cracks. The queens are much more fit, leading the group as a hive mind. The queens are always fertile, laying about 10 to 40 eggs every few days. The previous known workers (middle bug) now function as scouts, leading the hive mind to various locations, they also have the most advanced glider. The food collectors (farthest right) act like both gatherers and soldiers, collecting food and protecting the rest of there group. Each small groups have around 1-3 queens, 15-30 scouts, and 50-60 collectors. These small groups can join up and can create large groups of up to 500-600 total Purps. While this seems like a lot, they are an extremely weak species and has found itself as common food source. The make up for this is there extremely large numbers and ability to survive hostile environments. (think wandering ant cockroaches, if this is to much of a change just say).

Some Gas Nolor have begun growing in areas with lower metal concentrations in the soil, resulting in the loss of their protective coating, exposing the soft body beneath. This has however allowed them to respirate with their entire body, improving heat dissipation and oxygen absorption. As they could no longer withstand wildfires, they have developed a new method of spreading: "seeds" dispersed in their gas, which turn into Nolor once the gas dissipates and no longer prevents the "seeds" from touching the ground.
As this mutation originated in Infecturran, the most Nolor of this kind live here, but they also live on all other parts of the central continent.

The connections between neurons are much harder to break than those beween atoms. Now instead of relying on DNA to make sure the DNA is functional, Radpurps hold the code that shall be distributed to all their cells in their memory, and use a special part of the brain to translate it from memories to nucleotides. This has completely averted the radiation-caused decay, returning the Radpurps to the capabilities of the Strategic Purps of old.

Other Prowlers have their thumbs move up their arms and lose their skin in favor of a low-nerve enlarged bone that used to be one of the thumb joints. This doesn't let them form fists but let them jam the spikes into the rival's flesh.

Instead of streamlining their crania, these Prowler lean into the big head and develop some defensive plates, as the survival in alpha fights is the top environmental pressure.

Super-Heavy Gourd Leafs >>2353266 eventually evolved a small muscle-like growth along their main vine, this "muscle" contracts after a while of not receiving the right nutrients. This allows the Sea-Mat Islands to naturally "graze" along the ocean. After the gourd starts to over-ripen it falls off and tangles in the other vines/ floats along just under the ocean's surface until it matures enough to sprout a new Gourd leaf, which either gets picked up by other Sea-Mat islands or creates a small island of its own.

The Yit Species has evolved to the rough climate of Mortem-Regio with several physical and behavioral adaptations. The most promising being the regular use of 4 "words" that at this current recording have no specific meaning besides getting another yit's attention.

They have also started to collect various bits of foliage to line their hive to help keep in warmth produced by their bodies, as well as new movement behaviors that allow them to explore the rocky terrain with ease.

The crawling behavior taking advantage of their new flexibility allows them to follow prey and roots into much smaller crevices. While the "Hobbling" behavior allows for more food transport, at the expense of forcing said transporter to rest for a while in the hive before being able to move again. (they seem to prefer walking on 4 legs as it is much faster and more stable)

Mutations of tumbleweed Talcynoberries have adapted them to life among the floating leaf-mats. First their root system no longer curls up but rather spreads out giving them more surface area and less likely to sink, the ends of the root system clinging to stems, vines, and roots of other plants to keep from being blown off the leafmats.
the second is the presence of more berry clusters on a single plant allowing the berries to be eaten without killing the plant. thus increasing their chances of survival.

These talcynoberries create tangles which speed up the growth of leafmats. allowing it to rapidly spread amongst them.

These chemicals are used to communicate. Each chemical responding to a “Word” Building a Language with 40 Words but 2 of these Chemicals do not currently correspond to any “Word2. Ok going to do something that needs to be done for the prowlers, generations of combat among male prowlers has led to sexual dimorphism as females have not needed to compete the same way males have, instead females have evolved to have wide enough hips to give live birth with low levels of maternal deaths. they have also evolved to have an entire separate organ for the birthing of children. sexual organs were never drawn on them so im finally correcting that both male and female prowlers also have developed more visible genital protective folds aswell, when these folds open up the genitalia of the creatures is exposed with the folds acting as a natural pair of underwear that prevent the genitalia from being in vulnerable positions. the direction of the folds as well as the shapes of the heads and general sizes is how prowlers differentiate between each gender for the most part what was just said above is not meant to be a change but more of a visual image of what has been sort of already established, what follows is the actual change a separate species of prowlers, the Pursuer's have developed with their key difference being a second foot/toe, this has greatly increased their mobility, stability and decreased the risk of them breaking their ankles during pursuit of prey. this new pack of prowlers has moved to the right side of MortemRegio taking with them >>2401891 , >>2401887 , >>2399000 and >>2398999. while on the eastern side of the continent the prowlers begin using pieces of >>2395139 to make warm soft nests, although the pursuers do not struggle with food supply despite their large numbers they still pursue in packs the slower prowler variants on the island that come to close to their nest, this is done as a sport rather than to eat.

The Purpehote pheromones are no longer separated, instead joining together into much longer chemical chains, allowing them to convey much more complex information, aided by a new type of chemical, the logic connector, used to connect multiple "words" together. Speaking of Purpehote words, they no longer consist of just one pheromone, often including two or even three, increasing the potential amount of words Purpehotes might produce. This greatly benefits their social structure.

River-side ashleaf >>2361735

With the new climate and constant supply of nutrients, the Ashleaf on river banks has evolved to keep its roots partially submerged, thanks in part to a mutation that caused many of the bulbous roots to split. Another benefit is that it prevents a large part of the plains in Terrapetram from flooding and causing mud-slides during the rainy season

The "trees" that die eventually end up as driftwood or break-down into soil for the other plants around them, while the root systems get deposited on the sides of rivers and become shelters for the many creatures of the plains.

BeyBlue Berries >>2391342

The BeyBlue plant, having migrated to Florainsulam, has grown taller and focused production on berries to better spread itself across the continent, These berries also produce larger seeds so they don't get destroyed in the digestive-system. It still keeps its spikes to fend of creatures until its fruit is mature, in which it then sheds them to encourage hungry creatures.

Some Rimpies have been forced into the Southeast, deserted part of Solidus by their more powerful peers. This turned out to be a boon rather than a curse however, as the southeast desert is actually more fertile. Due to their new environment, Rimpies become slightly less fucked up, but still really fucked up.

A new species of floaters synthesize an explosive substance that reacts upon contact with water, this new species releases all of it's pairs at once to float underneath leafmats before exploding simultaneously. This creates a large steam bubble that expands and collapses rapidly, causing extreme damage to the leafmat. The spores then infect any casualties and creatures investigating the explosion.

The Cordyceps Talcynomorph has refined itself even further, now being able to infect a host with no significant damage, leaving it alive and capable of doing all Phloompy activities, including reproduction, if a little hungrier than usual. As leaving the host intact required not damaging it's skin, the Talcynomorph begins spreading spores with the Phloomp's bodily expulsions, such as it's alcohol cloud.

The Lake Nolor find themselves thriving along the lakes of Infecturran, though as they remain there they continue to absorb the abundant water offered to them, and start to develop traits that better store water as part of their internal structure. The Tree begins to bloat out and grow soggy to the touch around the roots and branches where water collects in mass, leaving the center a dryer hardwood covered in thin, glossy bark.

This species has become The Nolurran.

One species of The Dark Nolor has suffered greatly due to the intense root competition that's battling out against its sub species on Mortem Regio, but after generations of struggle, one branch of the species is finding its niche forming high rising canopies that puts out competition by starving it of light as they try to develop.

This species has become The Reglor.

Stacked Bland Beyul >>2386210

The Bland Beyul Tubers have shrunk down into the ground to protect itself from the harsh winds of Mortem-Regio, pushing more of its growth into large root bulbs to protect its seeds. As a side effect the fruits on the plant have become saturated in starch, which while filling is very low in nutrition.

The Peyul has split its leaf bearing points into long sticks that allow for larger leaf coverage. A side effect of this is that on strong winds many of the ripe nuts bombard the local area, creating hordes of new sprouts; causing Peyul forests to sprout up very quickly.

The spicyness of the fruit is so thorough it even temporarily increases the temperature of the creature eating it, resulting in it being a mild aphrodisiac for smaller creatures.

After generations of being hunted and thinned in number due to competition in The Badlands, groups of Prototimon have began to thrive in the lands of The Terrapetram Leaf Fields, living off a diet of leafy ground plants. This new abundance of easily accessible food has caused The Prototimon body structure to shift into that of a more weight bearing shape, their hands coming to touch the floor after being hunched over. Groups of these creatures can often be seen grazing the fields of Terrapetram, and have become The Herd Prototimon.

Being the prey in The Badlands has left little room for progress in the region, leaving stray RadRats to follow in the exodus from the terror of the radiation filled hunting grounds and finding refuge in the sands of Solitudinus.

The new species of radrats finds respite from the desert's heat by digging into the earth between the roots of Solitor trees, where they return to devour food they scavenge from carrion and Solitor leaves.
