You are Lucan, a young man living in 2150 AD. The world is in a state of collapse, authoritarian regimes rule with an iron fist and Humanity slides into degradation.

You awakened powers inside yourself only a few days ago when you absorbed the soul of a demon. Since then you learned that you might be half demonic yourself, and that the barrier between the Human world and the supernatural world was slowly weakening.

Soon the world will be swamped with demons and monsters again and you decided to stop it, for a price of course. Being a Demon Hunter should pay well after all. This is your first mission, to investigate a town reporting missing people and corpses with no blood in them. Good luck.

--

Write Ins are always an option but stupid suggestions will be ignored. This is my first quest so bear with me here. Above all just have fun and try not to get yourself or anyone you care about killed.

Just a steel town girl on a Saturday night
Looking for the fight of her life
In the real time world no one sees her at all
They all say she's crazy
Locking rhythm to the beat of her heart
Changing movement into light
She had danced into the danger zone
When the dancer becomes the dance
It can cut you like a knife
If the gift becomes the fire
On the wire between will and what will be
She's a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
She's a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
On the ice blue line of insanity
Is a place most never see
It's a hard won place of mystery
Touch it but can't hold it
You work all your life, for that moment in time
It could come or pass you by
It's a push shove world
But there's always a chance
If the hunger stays the night
There's a cold connective heat
Struggling stretching for the peak
Never stopping with her head against the wind
She's a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
She's a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
It can cut you like a knife
If the fight becomes the fire
On the wire between will and what will be
She's a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
She's a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
Maniac, maniac I sure know

You bought yourself the nicest M1911's you could find, as well as a nice fire axe and sawed off shotgun. This was, in your estimation, the best demon hunting tool kit money could buy.

On your way home you took a detour to a shop selling some stylish jackets, just to complete the image of a true demon hunter. With the last few hundred dollars you have left you could pick up one jacket. Which do you choose?

>A. White jacket
>B. Green jacket
>C. Red jacket

You spent some time in front of a mirror doing poses with your new weapons and outfit. The green jacket wasn’t as dramatic as the white or red one, but it still looked stylish on you. You also noticed how your once thin frame had begun to develop some muscle too. I guess demon souls does a body good.

You hadn’t saved any of your money for your rent, but with the current state of your apartment it might be best just to move on. You also swing by the Gates of Hell to pick up the rusty old axe you left there a few days ago. Fortunately, no one seemed to have moved it so you took the thing back to your ruined apartment.
>>
>>2393062
It was two days later when you got a call from Tim. As soon as you picked up the phone you knew something was wrong. Tim’s voice was tinged with fear and confusion, he sounded like he’d been beaten badly.

“Tim what’s going on? Are you alright?” You almost shouted the last few words at him.

“No, Lucan, I’m not alright.” He took a moment to gather his thoughts, his voice was shaky “I was with Robbie just now and both of us got attacked. I don’t know who it was, but I think they knew you. They beat me pretty good, then they took Robbie. I don’t know where they took him. They let go because they wanted me to tell you what just happened. They said to tell you they’d trade Robbie for ‘the book’ or whatever that means.”

You put a hand up to your head while you paced back and forth. This was serious now, someone you knew was now in actual danger because of you. They might even die, worse, it was one of your only friends. This was your fault! How could you have been so reckless.

“Tim did they tell you when and where the trade would happen.”

“They said they be at the old fish cannery by the docks, Bullseyes was the name I think. They didn’t say how long they’d be there, but I don’t think you should make them wait long Lucan.” As Tim spoke you were getting all your gear ready. Soon you were decked out and ready to go.

“Tim get to a hospital or police station, I will figure the rest of this out. Its my mess. I promise ill clean this up.”

“Just get Robbie back and we can forget about this.” Tim hung up before you could say anything else. A dozen thoughts were racing through your head and it was getting difficult to keep your focus and level head. You’d nearly panicked when Tim told you what happened but now you felt ready for it.

You fired up your motorcycle. What do you do?

You pour over the papers you managed to snatch from the flames of Davis’s house and find a few possible connections. Davis had a lot of root in the criminal underworld and got his money from many illegal activities. He seemed to provide spells to the crime lords in return for large sums of money.

His biggest client was a prominent businessman names Evyon, a name you heard before. He was a billionaire with lots of political connections. Probably one of the richest men in the country. He would probably be found at his businesses headquarters, a building called David’s Tower.

The next was a link to a biker gang called “Cain’s Cursed” that seemed to deal in prostitution and drug trafficking. Their boss operated a strip club called “Infinite Climax” only about five hours away.

Both groups were the only partners mentioned in the papers. There were no other clues as to were Davis might be staying.

Before you rolled out you wanted to be sure who was doing what.

"The guys who beat you, what were they wearing? Notice anything about them."

He responded quickly "Thug types, lots of tattoos. They took us both by surprise and they drove a van. Other than that, I was too busy getting my ribs kicked in to ask for any fucking names Lucan."

"Did they look like bikers, cultists, or mafia gangsters." you asked

"Bikers, I guess. They werent dressed in anything unusual.

The cannery was probably a trap, and you didn’t think anyone would be handing over Robbie even if you gave them the book. You reasoned it was a better idea to strike first, maybe capture the biker boss and use him as leverage. Or at least you hoped that’s how things would work out.

You shot through the streets like a bullet, using the same powers you charged your pistols with to speed up your bike. You were traveling at insane speed, turning what was a five-hour drive into a two hour one and only avoiding catastrophic crashes with your superhuman reflexes.

You finally got to the city, this was the territory of Cain’s Cursed without a doubt. Most buildings had some bikes in them and you could see a few thuggish looking men with “Cain’s Cursed” on their jackets.

Why give him that information? Less anyone knows about us the better, should probably shine a light in his eyes or blindfold him while interrogating him tied to a tree.

We can just pull out a knife and threaten cut him up and leave the rest for the animals if he doesn't talk, then let him be discovered or close enough to the road he can shout for help later after we are gone.

You waited outside the back of the Infinite Climax for what about half an hour before any of the bikers strayed near you for a smoke. As he waited near the alleyway between the infinite Climax and another strip club you snuck up from behind and put him into a headlock, then dragged him into the alleyway like a little girl drags a doll.

The man was about as tall as you were at 6’5 but he easily had one hundred more pounds of muscle on his body than you. Despite this, this attempts at breaking free of your headlock were pathetic. It almost felt like you were strangling a kitten. You dragged him behind a dumpster hidden from view.

“Alright pal, stop fighting! You obviously aren’t getting free anytime soon.” You squeezed him slightly to emphasize your point. He slowly stopped fighting and let his big arms go slack.

“Come on now we don’t have to keep up the tough guy act. Just tell me where he is and ill let you go. If he’s so dangerous ill just get myself killed, problem solved.” You were trying to be diplomatic, you really were, but as soon as you loosened your grip the biker started cursing up a storm. You rolled your eyes and flicked the back of his head with your finger, the force of your flick was like a punch from a world class heavy weight boxer. He was almost knocked out by the blow.

“Alright you little prick! Go inside and find out! I bet he will have one hell of a party thrown for you!” He began cursing again and you choked him out before he attracted anyone’s attention.

You stripped the burly biker of his leather jacket and put it on over your green one. Thankfully it was big enough to fit over you with some room to spare. You might not be able to pull off a biker look but it could at least fool someone at a distance. You went to the back of a building a broke a locked door by thrusting your fingers through the handle. After peeking inside to make sure no one was around, you slipped in and acted as nonchalant as you could manage. Music was blaring loudly though the hallway you were in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_TJ9lbBoHI&index=1&t=57s&list=LL3X7J3SvnlaQlBMGW5XFyBQ

You were in the semi-private section near the dressing rooms the girls used to get ready. One big breasted stripper gave you a lustful look as she walked out of her room and up to you.

“My my, aren’t you a handsome devil! I’m glad Andrei is hiring such good-looking boys, I get tired of looking at ugly meat heads all the time.” Her voice was like honey, her proportions nearly perfect. You felt a strong attraction stir inside you. Damn she was beautiful.

“It’s true, I am too good looking for this line of work.” You said with a surprising degree of confidence. She gave a throaty laugh and leaned in closer to you, your faces almost touching.

“Look boy, visit me in the back and ill show you a good time. We will have more time to get to know each other then. See ya around.” She gave you a wink and began walking up onto the stage. You shook your head to clear your mind and stepped into the main room.

You take a quick walk around the club to scan everyone in it then settled yourself in a dark corner to spy on others without being noticed. There was about two dozen Cain’s Cursed in the club and dozens upon dozens of patrons throwing their money at Grace, who was now dancing erotically on stage with another woman who looked just as enchanting as she. Most of the bikers only had pistols, security didn’t look very tight and you didn’t find any traces of demons anywhere. So far this was just your mundane criminal establishment.

You notice some of the Cain’s Cursed have black horn tattoos on their shaved heads. These seem to be the nastier looking and serious of the bunch, real killers.

You slip through the crowds as discreetly as you can and made your way up to the second floor, past the VIP loft and Executive VIP rooms, which were both filled with some very wealthy looking men. You might’ve even recognized a politician or two in the executive room, no one you voted for though.

After a minute or two or searching you found a long hallway with a single door at the end of it. Two very big and aggressive looking men stood outside, both in their Cain’s Cursed jackets. You sauntered up to them, not paying any attention to either. Just as you put your hand on the door handle, one of the men grabbed your shoulder.

“You weren’t invited. Piss off.” His grip would have felt painful to a normal person but to you it was almost unnoticeable.

"Andrei asked me to come up here. Special business, nothing you need to know about.” You grabbed his arm and forced it off your shoulder. The thug looked surprised but quickly regained his composure.

“Fine, kid, it’s your funeral.”

You stared him down as you opened the door and walked into the managers office. It was a cluttered room with some security monitors on the wall. A greasy fat man was sitting behind a desk counting money.

“Ever heard of a guy called Davis?’ As soon as you said “Davis” the eyes of the man behind the desk snapped away from the bills to you.

“You ain’t one of Andrei’s.” He threw a fat stack of cash down, easily what must’ve been several grand. “Kid you know how dangerous it is to fuck with Andrei? Putting on that little costume and acting like a real tough guy won’t get you anywhere. Yeah, I know who Davis’ is, I know a lot of things. I know if you don’t turn around and walk outta my building right now that you’ll end up dead.”

Your hand was gripping the wooden desk so hard that it was beginning to crack.

So you don't know where Andrei may be holding him, hmmm?

Rip a page out of the book and write on it, "Anything bad that happens to Rob will be mirrored to what you value."

So this cash ain't yours, but Andrei's then?

Take money from the stack, and say "Send Davis my regards".
If the cash acutally belongs to the manager, tell him well we're just borrowing it, and will pay him back.

Take enough cash to buy the .50 rifle and some equipment to make traps. Get Tim to cover us at the meeting place of our choice, somewhere that favors us and not at the cannery.

Tell Davis to meet us for a trade. The book for Rob, and to meet in a few hours. Find a place to meet and set up there. Then call Davis and tell him to get there in 15 minutes with Rob and us with the book. Davis can bring one other person with him. If he brings any more or tries any funny business, then the meeting is off. Get the number for Davis from the manager guy but don't tell him anything.

Well I'd rather go with my original plan but since we have more or less a 3 way tie, it'll probably go down to a roll for which option is picked....

How viable is this plan then?

Its not all that different in principle to option B but I want to control the time and environment, and loot some cash.

what do we or others like police and governments know about magic and demons?

whats the church institutions like?

We are over 100 years into the future, but it doesn't really "feel" like it. It feels more like we live in the mid west town setting to me sometimes.

Whats new and different in this future?
>>
>>2403671
Pretty sure that we'll get a visit by the magic feds after another mission or two.
>>
>>2405060
How did you guess? Depending on how you handle this mission, you’ll get a visit sooner.

The top government agencies are just now figuring out what’s going on. Monsters have only been seeking into this world for a few years in small numbers.
>>
You know a decent bit from that black book. It is mostly true and you can always go back and study more entries on it when you encounter specific demons or when you want to use magic. Most governments know nothing. Some know quite a bit. There is still much no one knows.

The all takes place in the northwestern United States and some parts of the Midwest. These areas became their own country after the US collapsed in a massive civil war. There really is no church where you are at. Some can still be found but the vast majority of people are atheists. There is some parts of the world where a sect of a pagan religion of a version of Catholicism survive, but most others are dead.

You’re just an everyday dude. You’ll start seeing how things have changed soon. Lots of experimental technology, artificial humans, vibrating swords that can cut through almost anything, lasers, robots, regrowing organs, fusion energy, and all sorts of other stuff.

The everyday tech looks mostly the same. It’s not cheap to mass produce vehicles with super light and dense armor or laser canons, so you just don’t see them a lot on the street.

“How about you set up a meeting? Get him to come here?” you said while you took one of your pistols from your jacket and started twirling it in your hand. “If not, maybe I’ll just have to pierce that big nose of yours.” You pressed the barrel of your gun into the mans nose so hard it scrunched up against the rest of his face.

“Okay! Okay! Ill call him!” You pulled the gun away and the man pulled out his phone then dialed someone’s number with shaky hands. He looked about as frightened to be talked to the other person as he was of the prospect of getting his nose blown off.

“Andrei we got someone here for you… I don’t know his name but he knows you.. Look he says hes got business here and he’’ probably wreck the whole place if you don’t get down here to talk to the kid. Hes already threatened me so… Alright.” He out the phone down and wiped sweat from his brow.

“Alright kid, you got what you want. Better start praying.”

“God and I don’t get along too well.” You turned and stopped at the door “I’ll be waiting at the bar for him.”

You went downstairs and rejoined the crowd of the club. A new song was playing.

You needed a drink before you had to deal with anymore gangsters, so you found the bar and sat on one of the stools, your duffel bag propped up beside you. A second later the bartender came up, eyeing you.

“Can I get a glass of milk?” You couldn’t help feeling a bit ridiculous after saying that while in the place you were in. The bartender didn’t even respond, he just gave you a look of disgust and walked off.

It wasn’t long until Andrei got to the club, and when he did the feeling in the air changed immediately. What was a chaotic atmosphere of mindless fun became much more tense and dangerous. You turned to see the man you assumed to be Andrei entering the club with two dozen more of his bikers, each with tattooed horns on the sides of their heads. There was also a girl with him, she was around your age and dressed in an exaggerated punk rocker style of clothes. She was tall and beautiful but her most striking feature was snow white hair, just like yours…

Slowly the patrons of the club began to filter out while the music died down. All the employees left too until it was just you, Andrei, the bikers, and even the two strippers. Odd.

The man you assumed was Andrei walked up beside you and sat down. He poured himself some vodka and took a drink. A couple moments passed before he spoke.

“Well. You got my attention.” He said, expectantly

“I’m here for my friend.” You said as you poured yourself a glass of vodka from the same bottle Andrei was drinking out of. “I know you worked with Davis. Well, he took my friend from me and I’m going to get him back. You can either help me or I can trash this whole club and your whole gang tonight. I have until the end of the night to find him, so don’t waste my time.”

“Now if I went around selling out all my friends I wouldn’t get very far would I?” Andrei said after he took another drink.

“You won’t get very far if you’re weighed down by lead either.” You retorted

“I would advise you to not threaten me, but I’ve already made up my mind on what I should do.” Andrei stood slowly and began walking away. You got out of your chair and took a step after him. Andrei lit a cigar then turned to face you.

“Get rid of him. Try not to make a mess of things.” And without another word he turned and walked out of the door with a dozen of his thugs. There were about three dozen bikers, two strippers, and one white haired girl still inside the club and all of them were looking at you. The bikers were pulling guns from their jackets and pockets.

You grabbed the half empty bottle of vodka behind you and threw it with inhuman strength. It sped through the air towards a few bikers standing close to each other but before it could it them you unleashed a charged shot from your pistol aimed directly at the alcohol. The bottle exploded in a puff of flame, sending glass and fire on the bikers like a small bomb. The man directly behind the bottle was obliterated by your charged shot. As soon as you got the shot off you jumped over the counter and took cover as dozens of guns opened fire on your position. Bottle of liquor exploded as bullets tore through the bar as you pulled out your sawed off.

Another song started playing as energy coursed through your weapons.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLMPA4xPFpg&list=PLAWOFQx6G1ZhvkiA0qJqSXUH7RtFSYH50&index=86&t=0s

You quickly charged both the pistol and sawed off, then rolled out from behind the counter and fired both at the same time. The pistol shot hit ripped through three bikers then blew a hole into the wall behind them. The sawed off unleashed turned half a dozen bikers into pink mist. You were fast enough to dodge every bullet aimed at you without too much trouble, casually dodging and weaving through the pathway of bullets.

The blood of some of the bikers started glowing bright red, then goat demons clawed their way out of it like zombies crawling from the earth. For every biker you killed a goat demon took his place. The two strippers and the white haired were watching you with looks of amusement on their faces.

What do you do?

>A. Try to use your axe like a boomerang and kill as many goat demons as you can

You lunged at one of the goat demons before it was fully formed from the blood and grabbed it by its legs, then proceeded to bash the other demons with its body. You spun like a spinning top and hit any demon or biker alike that came near you. The goat demon you were using as a cudgel was screeching in pain as you smashed it against anything that got remotely close to you. It wasn’t long before you beat all the bikers and demons to death with its body. When you finished all that was left in your hand was a mangled goat leg, the rest of the demon had apparently been torn off.

Grace, who had been watching you the whole time with a humorous look on her face started walking towards you after you finished up with the demons. The other stripper walked alongside her.

“Well, I didn’t think you’d be such a man. What do you think Faith?” Grace said.

“I am impressed. Its not everyday we see a half breed as strong as you, most are push overs.” The other woman said.

Grace strode up beside you and put one of her hands on your leg. Faith mirrored her movements and placed a hand on your shoulder.

“We should take care of him, the poor boy. He must be tired from fighting those nasty monsters” Faith said.

You felt strong lustful desires build up inside you and cloud your thoughts. Faith and Grace were so beautiful that it was becoming hard to think straight. Their very touch was addictive.

You put your guns away, shoved both girls aside, picked up your duffel bag, and took a step towards the door.

“Sorry girls, I’ll have to dance with you later. I have a bro to save right now.” You turned to look back and saw both strippers eyeing you hungrily.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH4qnO6k6Qk&t=0s&list=PLAWOFQx6G1ZhvkiA0qJqSXUH7RtFSYH50&index=76

“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Grace said as she pressed a pistol to your chest. It was crackling with the same blue energy your guns did when you charged them. You realized she had stolen your other M1911 from your back pocket while you were distractedly looking at her breasts. Before you could react, the pistol exploded as the charged shot hit you directly in the chest, sending you flying through the club and smashing into tables and chairs until you finally skidded across the dancer’s stage. You whipped your head up to see Grace and Faith walking up the steps of the stage in sync. Their Human bodies were gone, replaced by a vaguely demonic form. Stripper Succubi. Well, this might’ve been fun if Robbie’s life wasn’t on the line.

You ripped the axe from your duffel bag and jumped to your feet. You stumbled slightly as you did and looked down at your chest to see a blackened hole the size of your fist next to where your heart should be.

“Whoa” You stammered out. How tough were you, exactly? You looked back up to see Faith wielding two long daggers and Grace charging your pistol for another shot. What do you do?

>A. Charge your guns, use your pistol to block Grace’s charged shot while you hit Faith with the charged shotgun

“Mind if I axe you a question?” It wasn’t your best line, but you really couldn’t afford to pass up the cheesy pun. Who knows when you might be in the situation again. You half jumped, half lunged towards Grace as she fired off the charged shot. You threw yourself to the right and barely managed to eek out a dodge, your left shoulder was grazed and blackened by the powerful energies of the bullet, but not enough to cause any real damage. Both Succubae’s eyes widened as they realized you were faster than they anticipated.

You brought the fire axe down on Grace’s hand like you were chopping wood. The axe sheared through her flesh and severed the hand with some difficulty and her hand, still clutching your pistol, fell from her body to the floor. She screamed furiously and swiped at your face with her other hand, her claw like nails bit deep into your forehead and cheeks as you took a quick back step. Faith came up from your side and jabbed one of her daggers into your ribs. The sensation wasn’t the most painful things you’ve felt, but it made you gasp out in pain. She pulled the dagger out then thrusted the other one towards your right eye. You arched your back just in time to avoid getting blinded but before you could counter attack, Grace delivered a roundhouse kick to your head and sent you tumbling across the stage again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE1ScwL4Jmo

When you got back to your feet, both succubae were staring at you with manic looks of rage on their faces.

“Juliet!” Grace yelled “Mind giving us a hand here? He’s stronger than he looks!”

The white-haired girl was sprawled out on a couch, watching the fight as she played air guitar on a long sword. Where the hell did she get that!?

“Sorry, I would but I like doing things solo. I get shy when I have to perform in front of people.” She said as she strummed the blade of her archaic looking sword.

Grace rolled her eyes “Fucking witch! Why do we even hire half breeds? Useless!” Without another word both succubae raced towards you with murder in their eyes.

What do you do?

>A. Grab some alcohol and throw it in Faiths face to blind her, then attack Grace
>B. Chop off Grace’s other hand, then charge shot her in the head
>C. Charge them both with your axe, time to finish this

You grabbed a bottle of beer on a table close to you and threw it directly into the eyes of the succubae Faith. She squeezed her eyes shut and cried out in frustration but stopped to get the glass out of her eyes. While she was distracted you closed the distance between you and Grace, then swung the axe directly into her side with a wet crunch. Grace screamed in pain as you tore the axe out of her side and brought it down again but on her shoulder this time. She fell to her knees and you brought your foot down on her head in an overhead axe kick, appropriately enough. You heard bones snap in her neck at the impact and her body slumped off the stage like a ragdoll.

Faith jumped on your back and wrapped her legs around your waist. She brought both knives down on your shoulders and leveraged her weight backwards so that you lost your balance and nearly fell. You felt her teeth close around your throat like a wolf as she dug her knives deeper and deeper into your shoulders. You couldn’t manage to throw her off your back so you bit down on her right arm as hard as you could and forced her hand off the dagger, then with your newly freed arm you punched her in the face half a dozen times until she slumped off your back, leaving both of her daggers still in your shoulder. You clumsily grabbed your axe and tried, unsuccessfully, to rip one of the daggers out of you.

“You bitch, you bit me!” you were angry now. Angry about being bitten, angry about Robbie, just angry about everything. As the anger built inside you, you felt something else coalescing. A power you felt before after you killed the black blood abomination.

You raised one hand and forced the power inside you through your blood and into the physical world. The very air cracked and boomed as white-hot energy pooled into a sphere that floated inches from your hand. It looked like plasma, or liquid fire, and took on a prismatic color, every color imaginable and even some you’d never seen before radiated from the sphere of energy. It hummed with a deadly power as it silently bobbed in the air. Faith was staring at you in shock, her mouth hung open in amazement.

You threw the ball of energy at her with an effort of will. The energy ball flew in a blur of crystalline color and when it impacted the succubus, there was a massive explosion, almost like a tank shell going off. The furniture of the club was thrown in every direction as you were lifted off your feet and slammed against the ceiling then back down on the floor. The sound of the energy balls explosion was like a thunder clap and would have defeaned you permanently if your ears hadn’t been capable of regenerating.

All that was left of Faith was a blackened skeleton on the floor. The ceiling and immediate area where the energy ball had hit her was vaporized.

You walked over to the skeleton and absorbed her power, then you consumed all the goat demons blood. The power reinvigorated you and quickly healed the wounds you had just sustained.

You noticed that Grace was still alive, her broken neck had just finished healing and she was laying on the floor with her back against the stage. She had been thrown by the explosion as you had and looked dazed. Juliet, the white-haired girl was no longer chilling on the couch. After you threw the energy ball she was standing up and eyeing you intensely. Guess she wasn’t expecting you do go full Dragon Ball Z on her tonight.

You walked over to Grace and pointed your pistols at her head. She looked terrified.

“No! Please! I’ll do anything! Just don’t kill me!” She was crying now. “I didn’t want to fight!”
