It was a strange feeling as you stepped out the door of Harry’s home on the far side of the hills of Jump. It had been awhile since you had managed to spend some time with your arguably best friend, and to be able to just sit down and play video games was a great change of pace. The two of you had become friends in elementary school and it had came as a large surprise when you found out that he was the heir of Ozcorp.

And while others might have been incentivized due to the fact that his father was the pioneer of a multi-million dollar weapons and science cooperation, you had simply seen him as a kid with a whole lot of cool action figures.

Stepping out into the cool night you can see the sun hanging over the bay, and checking your phone that sure enough it’s nearly seven P.M, only one more hour until your ‘mission’. You still couldn’t believe that you’d be doing something so...unheroic. Sure you were still stopping a greater evil, but you were doing it for the sake of the greater good. Even so you were already running down the road, thankful for your web slinging abilities you that you could make it home quick enough to change.

From what Felicia was able to glean from some rather questionable sources that there was some sort of narcotics dealer working out of Jump. How he had managed to keep quiet was beyond either of you, but the point was whatever he was selling was big; Big enough that whoever HAD told felicia about it had called him ‘The Scarecrow of Jump’. However all of that was secondary to what was perhaps the most worrying part.

He was operating out of the old Miller Theatre, or at least his biggest distribution was coming from there; Well it was Him and about forty armed thugs high off their tits on a psychoactive drug. Slinking up in through the window you quickly throw off your clothes and change into some of the clothes you had purchased earlier. Dark jeans, a red hoodie, black shirt and topped with one of your Uncles old leather jackets; It isn’t your Te’mak, but it is certainly a good outfit for the occasion.

When all’s said and done you’ve got fifteen minutes to kill, how do you want to spend them?

You had to case the place. Sure this was an impromptu job but if any of the action and spy films you had watched growing up taught you anything it was that you always, ALWAYS had to case the place you were going to hit. Leaping out into the night you’re thankful for your ability to wall crawl as hood sticks to the top of your head. Swinging along the rooftops it doesn’t take long for you to get there, one of the few perks of living on the poorer side of the city. Landing on the rooftop on the other side of the street it brings back memories of when you were a kid and the theatre was still open.

Uncle Ben had taken you when you were a kid to see the newest Galaxy-X movie, it was probably the first film you had ever seen in the theaters that you could remember.

To see the place in its current status was a shame, with the windows on the apartments above boarded up and lightbox for the top billing cracked and broken. But shooting a few webs between the boards stick them across and wait. Sure enough after a few moments you start feeling vibrations through the strands and it all but confirms the intel.

“What’s it look like, Web-Head?” You hear behind you, startling you out of your concentration as Felicia comes up from behind you.

“Well there’s definitely people inside, but if that’s just drifters or what you got told I’m not sure.” You respond.

“Well, there’s only one way to find out. You takin the first crack it or am i?”

“I’ll move in, just stay behind me in case; I can dodge bullets but you can’t Kitty Cat.” You say with a wink, leaping the distance as you watch her fire off her grapnel and follow suit.

Rolling to a halt on the other side you quickly pry one of the boards free before slipping inside. The musk and mildew are pungent but given how long it had been abandoned it was understandable. What wasn’t however was the slight hint of chemicals and the creaking of the floorboards. Now that you were inside it was actually far louder than you could have anticipated, with muffled conversations and ocasional screaming.

Seemed the distribution center doubled as a drug den.

Where you had entered must have been where they kept the old films, given the racks and discarded canisters. Peeking your head out the hall branches off towards a T and the back wall, with a second storage room opposite the one you started in.

>What do you decide to do?

Slipping across the hall you find that sure enough the room is empty, save for a few small...objects. They seem to be like glass marbles, however they have a small hole and neck for where a stopper would go. If you had to guess this was either ink vials that were used to color films and the like, or this was how whatever drug was made here?

It was certainly worrying.

Stepping back out you make your way down the hall. If you had to guess the two doors on either side led to the projection booths proper, with the halls leading towards the stairs and maintenance areas. Either way you’d have to split up, and if that was the case you had to figure out who would take what objective.

>Well, what’s the plan (Write-in/discuss)

“You take the projection booths, I’ll swing into maintenance area and sweep it. Sound good?” You whisper, getting a nod of confirmation before you rush ahead, peeling a left at the hall and making your way to the far door at the end of the hall. You can hear people all around you, but it appears that most of them are hallucinating; With all of them murmuring about a host of things that were seemingly incomprehensible.

However as you get closer to the maintenance area you hear the tell-tale sounds of bunsen burners, boiling chemicals and chemically treated suits.

“The Boss needs that batch done today, Kowalski. He’s got buyers out of town and he needs to deliver!” You hear a deep voice call out.

“I know, I know but if we cook this stuff too quick it gets...ugly. Remember the last batch we tried to rush? We lost Tommy.” Another responds, and peering through a slight hole in the door you see a number of people in hazmat suits around a number of various colored plants and bubbling beakers.

>How do you wanna take this? (Write in)

see if we can identify any chemicals, there might be labeled containers somewhere. if we can then try to figure out what they're making so we know how careful we should be around the chemicals.

It is clear to you immediately that whatever it is they are working with isn’t something common to the region, let alone the world. Herbs and plants of colors you had never seen that were clearly alive and more than that, aggressive. The only way you could describe it was like your suit.

Surging into the room it’s clear that whoever is in the room weren’t allowed weapons, as you don’t feel your spider-sense immediately kick off from bullet fire. You quickly fire a web at the chemistry lab and tugging it down as you sail through the air, plumes of smoke billowing up around you as you knock Kowalski to the ground. The rest of the six total lab thugs are just as easy, and by the time the smoke clears there is nothing but unconscious bodies and broken beakers scattered around.

Unfortunately this ALSO grabs the attention of whoever is downstairs and you can already hear footsteps and shouting.

Thinking fast you rush out into the hall in time to see Felicia slamming a thug into the wall outside the closer projection booth. It’s perfect timing as you continue ahead, grabbing your companion and pulling her back into the booth as you slip the door shut.

“Looks like you brought friends, Web-Head” She whispers hotly and you nod.

“Had to be done, was a whole lab of equipment. Any good finding the safe?”

She shakes her head and as you go to nod you feel the tell-tale tingle at the back of your neck.

Tightening your grip on your partner-in-crime you leap off the balcony, knocking the projector off its stand and in a bust of light the theatre ahead of you explodes into light. The projector must have switched on due to the impact and while you had no idea as to what the film once was hearing the slight chime of bells and the following made it all too clear:

”Hold your breath, make a wish. Count to three.”[/]

https://youtu.be/SVi3-PrQ0pY

As the song begins to start proper you hear a torrent of gunfire, with stray bullets tearing through the rotted wood door and sending a shower of sparks from the old light covers. Staying low amongst the theatre chairs the gunfire stops, though that doesn’t worry you.

What worries you is the slow rolling fog that seems to be coming from behind the theatre screen, sweeping through bullet holes and tears like an amorphous hand of death itself.

It clings to every surface and you can’t help but ask yourself about the smell of the room. It had used to be mildew and rot but why did you suddenly smell fresh movie popcorn and chocolate? Even the chairs in front of you looked new, and as your eyes continue to drift further down you finally catch a glimpse of whoever had caused the fog to appear.

And to you surprise it is none other than Willy Wonka himself.

...No, it wasn’t. Something was wrong with this picture, but what?

“Uh...Web-Head are you seeing that?” Black Cat whispers.

“You mean Willy Wonka?” You reply to confirm, however she shakes her head.

“No, No you dummy, it’s Wesley!” She replies in hushed indignation.

Something was definitely wrong.

It had to be the Fog but-

Where did the Fog go? A moment ago it was licking and crawling along every surface of the theatre but now it had just vanished. Fog doesn’t work like that, it lingers and clings to things. Was it still here and you just couldn’t see it? Is THIS what that drug does?

You aren’t sure, but what you see happen before your eyes makes you question even that theory.

“What is going on?” Willy Wonka/Wesley/Whoever it was asks, looking up at the booth where the thugs were now occupying.

“There’s an intruder boss! The Lab up here has been wrecked and the whole crew is out cold.” One of the thugs replies, and you see that Willy Wonka does not like it.

With a scowl the purple clad man points his cane forward and before your eyes you see it seemingly split apart and surge forward, resembling less a cane and more a demonic claw. Plucking the person who spoke straight from the area, pulling them face to face with their boss.

“Did you find them?” He asks, and you can see the man squirming and trembling in the claws grip.

“N-n-not yet, boss.” The thug stammers out before screaming.

You don’t see how it is happening but the rest of the people look horrified. So whatever was happening could be directed, but it also meant that you were under its influence.

After a few moments the lights go out and you can hear the goons coming down to search the theatre. Giving Black Cat a nod you hug the ground and make the sneaking crawl towards the wall and up into the dark. You manage to get behind one of the shot up light covers when they finally enter the room, and in your rush you sadly lose sight of your mystery figure.

That didn’t mean you couldn't lure him back.

Extending a web you slowly begin to creep down between the bunched up dozen of gentlemen. They are so insistent you have to be on the ground they have completely ignored right above them. If this were Gotham they may have been more mindful of people lurking in the rafters, but you chuckle.

Showtime.

Your head is just poking between the center of them when you grab the closest guard and begin to sing, though it is more a manic mumble than song.

“There is no Earthly Way of Knowing~”

WIth a jerk you are shot back up into the air, your newest prey screaming in terror as you take him for the most terrifying ride of his life. Spraying a mist of webbing around him as you reach the apex you swing away through the beams of flashlights as a hail of gunfire buries itself in the roof around their no doubt horrified companion.

“Which direction we are going~!” You chant as you slink through the air like a banshee in the night, grabbing another of the thugs and tossing him against the wall, shaking the beam enough to set the camera back off.

Three more swings and six more of their men are splayed out on the walls and even the ceiling. You grin, watching the the last four particularly spinning around, a veritable horror show for them no doubt as in every direction their friends are in webs; Strung up like puppets cut free from their marionettes. Slinking down to the ground level you glide down the aisle near the closest thug, webbing him to the ceiling by a thread before kicking the now screaming individual like a pendulum.

And as you see the beams of their flashlights turn to follow you grin, and you think to yourself ‘Amateurs’.

Before you can go to finish them off however your Spider-Sense goes off and you force yourself into the air as the wall behind you seemingly twists and explode out as a menacing spike.

“I must say, while I DO love the theatrics I cannot let you get away with all of your meddling.” The voice of Gene Wilder announces, and looking to the stage sure enough the Willy Wonka imposter is there.

“You know I was wondering how many of your Oompa Loompas I’d have to take out before you’d show me your chocolate factory.” You taunt, swinging down to join Black Cat.

“Well, if it’s a tour you want I’m afraid we’re closed.” He starts, a dark grin deeply misplaced on the kindly actors face.

“However, I can CERTAINLY give you a show!” He exclaims, taking the top hat off of his head and throwing it at you as it twists into a literal Pink Panther.

Joy.

We could use the camouflage to change our costume colors/set-up, but some old combat boots and a leather jacket. Start carrying a hand gun and the like.
Just full Red Hood knock off.

You ignore it.

You ignore it because it doesn’t exist. Sure it scared everyone else and effected even you, but that didn’t make it real. Now that you weren’t panicking at it as the goons had you sure enough didn’t feel your Spider-Sense tingling as it jumps through you and explodes into smoke.

“So how do you do it? The tricks I mean?” You ask “Because there’s no way it’s just whatever drug it is you’re pumping in here.” You explain and he gives a chuckle.

“Well, dear boy a Magician doesn’t reveal his secrets.” He teases, and with a wave a number of tiles on the walls split off and fly towards you.

Unlike the panther these are real and you quickly begin to sway to avoid them, even catching one with your web and throwing it at the Gene Wilder look alike and surprisingly manage to hit him. In a plume of smoke the once friendly face of the passed actor was replaced with an opaque glass dome.

“Heh, for once I might actually have to pull a few of my big tricks out.” The figure taunts, a crackle of purple energy dancing between his hands.

Sprinting towards him you go to web the illusionist up when he finally puts his hands together and a bolt of bright purple energy jolts forward. Before you can even react it makes contact and you feel the breath leave your lips as you’re sent flying.

Coming to a halt on the far side of the room you hear him chuckling as Black Cat continues to pounce and fight an invisible foe.

“Tell me, was THAT a trick?” He taunts, weaving his hands in weird ways as he begins to literally float in the air.

You say nothing, staggering to your feet as you watch the display, the smoke pouring from his coat in waves as it twists and coils around him before bursting into flames. With a gesture the bolt of fire unfurls and launches at you, a glowing face of a dragon at it’s head. You manage to throw yourself out of the way, only for the sentient missile to twist around and arc through the open air.

You had seen Magic before, but never like this; Compared to Raven it made her look like parlor tricks.

“Go home kid.” He advises, giving the flaming mass a pet before turning his unfeeling domed head towards you. “Because you’re no match for the mystic Mysterio!” He says with a flourish before laughing.

“I dunno about you Mysterio, but now that I look at you are you just a Riddler and Scarecrow knockoff?” You spit back tightening your fists.

Rushing towards the fishbowl clad magician, doing what you can to avoid the serpent of flames and bolts of lighting. The problem was that the fire was so hot it melted your webbing, and any lines you DID make were literally blown up by bolts of crackling lightning. However as you got closer it became clear that Mysterio was not good in up close, as every attack he directed towards you was less at YOU but your means of getting close.

You needed help, you needed to get Felecia out of her supor and into this fight.

So you direct your attention away from the floating Mysterio and instead focus on Black Cat. Avoiding random strikes from the girl you manage to force her down beneath another pass of the flame serpent.

“Kitty Cat snap out of it.” You order, flicking her gently on her nose.

While at first she seems ready to slash you with her claws your words seem to finally process and she blinks at you. While she isn’t quite all there yet she at least recognizes that you aren’t one of whatever she was fighting. She seems to give you a nod, if not puzzled look as you roll off of her.

“What’s happening? Where did those rats go?” She asks, which gives you pause.

“Rats? What rats; Our biggest issue right now is the damn wizard shooting lightning and fire at us!” You exclaim, pointing to Mysterio.

“The Rodents of Unusual Size….Shut up Web-Head I can hear your thoughts.” She scowls, and you can’t help but chuckle.

“What’s the plan?” She asks

“The sprinklers.” You say after a moment of thought, firing of a series of webs at the man to ensure that he didn’t take advantage of your impromptu pow-wow.

“What about them?” She asks, clearly surprised at your ‘plan’.

“They should be able to disperse the fog as long as they are still connected to the water main. Set them off I’ll keep fishbowl busy.” You order and with a nod the two of you part ways.

Thankfully it seems Mysterio is focused on you, seeing as you were the one to have created the most trouble in his operation. So like any good unwanted guest you do what anyone would do; You begin to ask questions.

“So, tell me Fishbowl; Can I call you Fishbowl?” You start, rolling beneath a bolt of lighting before leaping up and over the flame serpent. “What got this all started? The drugs, the magic; That stuff isn’t common knowledge.”

He chuckles, and with a few more waves of his hands you see a number of small shimmers appear around the room before the begin to become far more dangerous. Beasts akin to what you’d think an Imp would look like begin to flutter out of the shimmering tears, lobbying all manner of colored bolts of energy at you. And you can’t help but curse as just the lightning and fire snake was bad enough.

“While I can’t exactly give you my card I can simply say that I didn’t find this gift so much as it was given to me; All I’ve done is take it farther than anyone else.” He promises with a flourish, seemingly content with his newest minions to do the work.

Diving beneath a row of chairs you decide the charade is over and in a flash your clothes are gone and your Te’Mak is in its place. This however seems to draw the attention of the Imps, how you aren’t sure; But it doesn’t matter as you immediately start to blend into the floor and crawl away. Getting to the edge of the row you spring up to the wall and kick off of it, firing a veritable barrage of webs at the imps.

They scatter, but that is better then focused fire.

Managing to snag one in webs you yank it towards you before slamming it down against the ground, watching it bounce like jello against the ground. Ducking down again to avoid the vengeance from its brothers you hear a ear-splitting creek and suddenly a torrent of brown, rusted water spews out before rapidly becoming clear. It seems that Felicia had succeeded, and all around you the illusion of fresh seats and the smell of popcorn begins to bleed away.

Yes!

The Imps clearly seem distressed, but they continue to flutter around and persist.

“Llepsid luof erutaerc!”

The Imps clearly seem to be no more as they swell up like balloons and pop into nothingness, the only thing giving even a clue of what had happened was a flash of blue light.

“Zatanna, get the vagrants outside! I shall deal with the sorcerer” A voice calls behind you.

“Who are you calling a vagrant?” You shout in indignation, turning back to face who was calling you a ‘vagrant’.

Him and his VERY attractive assistant.

“Ezilibommi!” She shouts, pointing what appears to be a stage wand at you; A bolt of pink light leaps towards you.

What alarms you is that your Spider-Sense doesn’t go off, and so you simply dive out of the way. Was it because of the magic? Was it the same reason you hadn’t sensed the danger of the gas? Those were thoughts for later however, right now you had to talk under fire.

“We came here to wreck this operation! The one you want is him!” You insist, jabbing a finger out of the man before ducking under a bolt of energy Mysterio sent at you.

“Stop your games and help me, boy!” He shouts and you scowl behind your mask.

“Don’t you dare try and pull this, con man.” You warn and you decide in your infinite wisdom to charge the floating Mysterio.

You were fast and it was time to put that speed to the test. Sprinting for the center row you dive into a roll, narrowly avoiding one of the lights crashing down behind you. All around you you notice that objects were coming loose from light fixtures to whole rows of benches.

It seemed that whatever magic was now flying around you really was resulting in a very dangerous game of dodgeball.

This left your direct attack out of the question, but given your agility you can still work with this. Leaping onto one of the larger chunks of debris that are flying around the ring you swear you can hear the Wicked Witch of the West cackling. Pushing that away however you cling to the structure, keeping your eyes on Mysterio.

As far as you could tell Zatanna and the mystery man had turned their focus to Mysterio, who seemed to be the cause of the localized tornado. This wasn’t a bad thing though, because this meant that Mysterio was also now focused on the two of them; And that meant you had an opening.

Waiting for your impromptu ride to place you behind Mysterio you tense yourself, preparing for your hastily put together idea. Catapulting yourself with every ounce of your strength you cock your hand back and if it weren’t for your suit you’d feel the wind blowing in your hair as you get closer.

“Curtain Call big guy!” You yell, getting his attention just in time for you to watch your fist collide with the dome of his helmet.

The wind almost instantly stops as you watch his body limply fly through the air, only stopping when he finally slammed into a row of chairs. Collapsing to the ground you let out a pant of relief, you hadn’t expected this much of a fight; Let alone the two magic wielding strangers. Getting to your feet you see that sure enough Felecia is gone, no doubt having used the ensuing chaos to get away.

While you certainly couldn’t blame her, it did sting slightly to know she’d just as quickly abandon you as stand by your side.

“So...about that whole ‘vagrant’ thing…” You start.

“Oh don’t think you’re getting out of this scotch free, Spider-Man.” The gentlemen says, surprising you that he knew who you were even though he called you a vagrant.

“Why is it that everyone who is in the mystic arts seems to know what that is?” You ask suddenly and you feel yourself starting to glare at the man. “Am I just chopped liver or is it common knowledge that I just don’t have about having one?”

The man gives you a slight grimace.

“Totems are...old magic, dark magic; The sort of magic that is born from animal sacrifices and cohorting with demons.” He starts, however he seems to realize the implications and holds his hands up. “Not that I think you do anything of the sort.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know. I was told: Demon has a part of my soul and now I’ve got powers in return; But everyone seems to think I’m some horrible thing, that I asked for this.” You say hotly, as this was the second time that someone knew something about where your powers were and were dancing around it.

“What part of Old and Dark magic are you not understanding child? It is not something you are prepared to handle!” The man insists, however you march up to him ready to give him the two cents you had been forced to hold onto; You were sick of platitudes, you want answers.

Were you really going to be a monster just because you had these powers? Was it just because of pure association that you’d be forced to do something horrible, or was it just the pattern of whoever had a totem? “I can see why he likes you so much.” He says before extending a hand behind him to reveal the door had been open. “Mind taking a short trip. I do know it is a school night and all that but I must insist.”

“A trip where? Black Gate?” You muse, only to get a chuckle out of Zatanna.

“You really don’t think so big do you?” She asks with the slightest note of a smirk “A trip to the Watchtower.” She reiterates.

You had always wanted to be an astronaut, but when you couldn’t even do ten pushups without becoming tired you put that dream behind you. But now that you were sitting inside a Javelin-7 exo-planetary craft in low orbit there was a part of yourself that couldn’t help but cheer. Staring out and seeing the curve of the world you couldn’t help but be awestruck.

Neil Armstrong was right; You did feel small looking down at the blue-green marble of the world, but that couldn’t take away from the majesty of it all.

“Wow.” You say quietly under your breath, already having lost sight of Jump City a long time ago.

“It certainly is something, isn’t it?” The man you now knew as Zatara says with a knowing smile. “Same reaction anytime someone new comes up here.” He adds.

“I can certainly see why.” You murmur, brining your attention from the gem of earth behind you to the silently spinning guardian above: The Watchtower.

You remember spending late night by your telescope with Uncle Ben watching the shipments of metal and who knows what up to where it's at now in orbit over Earth. It was the international home of the Justice League and it seems your rapid rise to notoriety had caught even their wide scope.

Now the only question was if it was for good or ill?

It would be a few more minutes of simply watching the Watchtower grow in your view, the occasional Javelin launch giving you a sense of the sheer scale of the location. It was only when the slight rumble of machinery beneath you broke the silence that it really dawned on you. You were about to be in a place very few people ever got the chance to set their feet.

And for a meeting with one of the Big Seven.

Rolled 2 (1d2)

It really does put it all in perspective as you’re led along to the elevator. Seeing the world spin below your feet and knowing that every person who found themselves in your shoes on this station fought the good fight was...a powerful feeling. However when Zatara and Zatanna ushered you in and didn’t follow it was when the doors shut that the humbling feeling finally carried all of its weight.

‘I can see why he likes you so much.’ Those were the words that Zatara had told you before he asked you to come with him. Who could ‘him’ be? Eliminating Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman that left The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Batman and Superman.

Even on that last you could cross off Flash, Manhunter and Aquaman. None of them had any real reason to find anything you had done as noteworthy. And between the Dark Knight and Man of Steel you could only name one of the two that would have a reason for notability; And that was beating his protege in hand to hand combat without training.

When the elevator doors open up to an almost empty conference room you are sorely mistaken. Sorely mistaken and wildly surprised.

https://youtu.be/e9vrfEoc8_g

For sitting at the head of the table and clad in the all to familiar Boy Scout Blue spandex and crimson cape was none other than the Man of Steel himself; Superman.

“Y-You uh...wanted to see me, sir?” You stammer, all of your ‘Spider-Man confidence’ blown away in the face of one of your childhood heroes.

He gives a warm and kindly chuckle as he lifts a hand. “Not so much ‘see’ as much do a face to face.” He replies before gesturing you to a seat.

(Cont)
>>
You do so, however you can’t seem to find your words. They were lost somewhere between being before the greatest hero alive and him wanting to personally meet you. When you do eventually find them it comes out about as composed as you could imagine:

“So uh...Zatara kinda mentioned you had an interest in my work. But aren’t you usually more a hard science guy?” You ramble out, and to this you get a nod.

“I am, between Batman’s funding and some Kryptonian know-how this station works the way it does. But where your powers come from isn’t what I find interesting; It’s what you do with them.” He confirms, giving you a firm stare for a moment.

“What I do with them? I just do what’s right, isn’t that what a hero is supposed to do?” You ask.

“It seems an obvious fact sure, but it isn’t always so clear cut.” He answers, and for a moment that difference between you seems far smaller; That this wasn’t one of The Big Seven but instead just a man like you.

“Most heroes don’t come from a simple desire to help people. Many are born from tragedy and simply wish to keep it from hurting others.” He explains, which comes as a surprise to you.

“So when Robin writes up the hero report about a wildfire upstart hero and sends it up the H.R.C database I can’t help but take a peek and find out we’re very much alike; Both of us raised by adopted parents who still worry about us.” He explains before giving a grin.

“I even know your godfather.”

“You mean Uncle Perry?” You ask in surprise getting a nod of confirmation.

“Oh yes I’m very familiar with Perry White; You could say that he and I have a working relationship. What with him always sending Lois Lane to report on my fights.” He answers, however it feels there is a joke their you’re missing.

After a few minutes of conversation it surprises you at how...normal it felt. Sure he was still Superman but if you had met out of costume you would have had no idea he was the same person. When he quiets up for a moment is when you feel that difference between you establish itself again.

“You’ve got potential, Alex.” He says out of the blue before sliding a small metallic box across to you.

“League potential.”

The words floor you as you look at the box before you, cracking it open you see a small watch that seemingly comes to life beneath the light, a golden ‘JL’ appearing on the watch face.

"...I don't know if I'm just assuming this, but I don't think I'm ready. Don't get me wrong, if you guys ever need help I'm always around, but with school, and taking care of my aunt and uncle, I don't think I could stretch myself anymore than I am."

I think there are some reasons why Spidey shouldn't become a JL member just yet, firstly he needs to resolve the Spider-lander and make sure that whatever happens, no great harm to his family and other innocent bystanders occur. Secondly, he's still in high school and wouldn't be able to commit full time.

So the last twelve hours this has been a debate both in the discord and in my head. I have decided to do the logical thing: A poll.

https://strawpoll.com/g5ccfxrb
>>
>>2417700
Kryptonians in the lead, I'm not surprised.
>>
>>2417700
Looks like this Young Justice is going to be Spidey, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Kid Flash, and Zatanna. Sounds good, I guess. Wish we could have gotten some other Marvel heroes in, though.
>>
>>2417723
Gotta have that power base of the team.
>>
>>2417729
Remember, this is just the Starting five. Not the Sum Total of the Young Justice Initiative
>>
Okay, I'm going to close the poll here but we have confirmed Four people: Super Girl/ Power Girl, Kid Flash, Blue Beetle and Zatanna
>>
>>2417732
So, I was wondering: the Titans are for the more professional and better trained sidekicks/young heroes, and Young Justice is for the ones who need more training/can't put as much time into it, right? Or how will they be divided up?
>>
>>2414381

That...no, you couldn’t. Could you? You had already turned down Robin and the Titans for any commitment and they were comparatively in your backyard. But this? This was asking you to go far beyond that. You had school, you had your Aunt and Uncle; Hell even Superman had pointed out that he knew these facts, so why was he asking you to do something he knew was impossible?

It’s not like they asked this of every teenage he-

And that’s when it hits you.

You feel almost transcendental as you close the case for the League Communicator before looking up at the Man of Steel. “I can’t join the League, I already told the Titans I couldn’t because of my responsibilities and the same applies here.” You inform him, but before he could speak you add.

“But something tells me you already expected that answer. However tell me, how many heroes or metahumans do you know about that are around my age?” You ask him.

“I can name a few dozen off the top of my head, why?” He answers, a sly grin crossing his face.

“Because you might have faith in me being ‘League Material’ but I can’t do that yet. What I can do though is this: Help those who have powers become like me, become League Material.” You answer.

“So a sort of stepping stone? A team to grow potential young heroes?” He asks, stroking his chin.

“A Young Justice League, yes.” You confirm.

Superman is quiet for some time, no doubt mulling over the idea. When he finally speaks up you are stunned.

“I will bring this up during the next League meeting. If things go well we’ll take it from there.” He says before getting to his feet.

“Just like that?” You ask before getting a nod.

“Just like that.” He confirms with a smile.

Huh.

“So...how will I know if it works out?” You ask.

“Don’t worry about that, you’ll know.” He promises before he gets to his feet.

“Would you like to rest? There are a few guest bunks on the station unless you’d like to head back now.” He asks you.

>Well, do you take the opportunity to rest?
>A. Yes
>B. No, you really should get planetside.

You take up on the offer, how could you not? It was a chance to sleep in space and you weren’t going to miss it. Its a quick walk from the conference room to the bunk you’d be occupying. Compared to the open and warm corridors it was cramped and cold, the practicality of it paramount over a more personal touch. It was understandable, it was a guest bunk, not for a permanent home.

And as you lay there, the slight flicker of white clouds outside the small porthole window you felt surprisingly awake. Not because you were full of energy and vigor, but rather that your mind was running wild. You met Superman, you proposed a whole team idea of young heroes and he had ACCEPTED it; And now you had to somehow come up with a plan to do something with whoever they gave you. When sleep finally did claim you you had no way of knowing just how insane a week you would have thanks to your actions.
