"We don't have enough coins!" She exclaims "we'll be coinless long before we get to Cavon! It is not ideal, I know but we will get through. I won't be carel-"

Mieglo stops, The floor is shaking beneath you. An earthquake?

You haven't heard of an earthquake that creates ethereal black flame from a small mirror.

"A demon!" Mieglo almost shrieks. A hand molded in endless heat emerges from this reflection. His full body materialized within few seconds.

Much like normal humans, demons have different tastes in outfits (although a good sum of them prefer nudity for the shock factor). This one is more or less topless almost parading his set of burning skin and muscles. a strange skull was fused to his head hiding his true face. Demons like to do that too. Identity is very important among their powerful society.

He spoke to you with a smug on his face barely hidden by this skull "Such a bore you two, do something productive already! Why do you insist on pecking on each other like mindless chickens?!"

>Your kin are nothing but trouble, begone demon!
>Why are you here? what do you want from us?

" Glady. " with a snap of his finger, all his clothes were gone. Mieglo looked the other way once he went full bare. You stared at his hollow eyes in defiance.

"Do you like what you are seeing, hmmmmm? It'was popular with the ladies back when i was alivee... "

"W-what do you want? we are drowning in problems already!" Mieglo glued her eyes to the floor.

"What else? entertainment my little peach. Is my prick not good enough for you?"

"Get to the point, demon." You didn't fear him for some reason. Infact, despite his aura, you feel like he is nothing; an arrogant little whelp.

"Aren't you a bummer?" he sighed, licks of ethereal flame escaping his mouth, he did remain naked though " Well, I was going to tamper with a pregnant woman or two when i sensed a great deal of power nearby . Turns out it is coming from this teeny tiny dagger. Now riddle me this, why on the rotten celestials would you curse yourself with a dagger of your creation ?"

Mieglo didn't like this but you told the demon everything. Apparently he was around right after you destroyed Kotella.

"I see..How unfortunate for you. Good thing you met me right? Maybe there are better demons who will give you sweet hugs and kisses but i am so sure about this. If i was lets say a power hungry demon, i would have kill you and you and fornicate you...the order doesn't matter....actually this might seem like a good idea."

The smugness is still there but the demon retains some sense of seriousness materializing his clothes from the unknown "Those pesky celestial inquisitors will get attracted to the dagger too. You got a LOT on your tail my little mundane creature."

"Oh no..." Mieglo is probably thinking about those ruthless bastards. Not only they force harsh rule against legal 'tainted' professions like alchemy but they sent countless alchemists to the block for the slightest violation. They are never good news

The demon raises his arm in the air in a needlessly dramatic pose "but fear NOT citizens! For this oh so righteous demon will help your poor souls mainlyforthesakeofmyentertainment but STILL. While you two are busy pecking each other out, I will hide the dagger. I WILL NOT break it down and consume its innate power thus killing you in the process since your soul is linked to it, definitely won't do that. Nil of a chance, none. "

The ethereal flames around his finger formed a piece of paper and a pen "I will be your demonic little helper. Just don't go behind my back and deal with other demons, that is really low. You won't regret it, Trust me!"

The contract literally had what he said....with lots of drawings of his genitals on the side.

What we should do is renegotiate if we have to, or decide to sign.

ie, ad a caveat that if he is unwilling or unable to provide or perform a service, theb we may court another demon or being temporarily for the task/job and allow Mieglo to provide a counter offer if he changes his mind or wished to attempt to finish the task so long as its within reason and not a predatory or unfair deal by the other demon or entity that would evaluate the work or job for whatever purpose such as lowing the value or worth of Mieglo's help or below what is realistically charge for said job/task.

And etc.

Also throw in he must always speak the truth to us, and not obfuscate or lie, or act in a manner that withholds information to effect the outcome unfavorable to us.

May not harm us or people we deem friendly to us under any circumstances, and warn us of magical, supernatural or demonic danger to us.

Stuff like that.

But for now we outright refuse.
>>
>>2416859
Also just to point out that by letting him hold the dagger, he basically could kill us or consume our soul whenever he pleases, and can use that as leverage over us.

He squinted his eyes towards you "You are no fun. Maybe your flayed skin will look good on me?" Within a blink, his form changes into a horrible abomination, thousands of teeth, a long rotten tongue with eyes of its ow-

Oh, it's gone on.

The demon reverted to his previous form "Oh the look on your face, priceless! In case you change your mind, you can summon me with this." he put two dices on the study desk.

"And a useless coin to ease your trust issues. Farewell!" He flipped a gold coin in the air before vanishing."

"I don't trust this demon..." Mieglo states. The coin looks perfectly fine though which left her conflicted.

"A long day , with hopefully more customers, awaits us. Good night." you said the same. She unlocks one of the rooms in the second floor and closes it behind her. You can't say you blame her.

Not a speck of dust plagues the guest room. Mieglo must have cleaned it. This woman is truly a strange one; trusting strangers. trusting strangers that almost killed her. Well, As long as she is useful to you, you don't mind her rather inconsistent character.

Time to sleep.
_________

Some pestering birds chose to chirp right next to your window. Annoyed, you blasted the window wide open knocking one of these colourful vermin on the ground. It looks dazed and disoriented. Serves it right for being a nuisance.

You can hear faint whispers of the dagger, they are weak and muffed. The smell of morning eggs dispelled your thoughts. Mieglo had made a decent breakfast for the both of you, poached eggs with some bread on the side and some seasonal herbs.

"Good morning." she greets you with half filled mouth.

You grunted back instead "What date is it? I lost track of time."

" 34th of Fomalhut. Not much left for this month."

Taking a couple of bites, you almost can't taste anything. Your mood was soured even more.

"What's wrong? want some water?"

"It can be worse..." she swallows the last of her breakfast "I keep thinking about what the demon said about the dagger. Why would you make such a thing?"

You didn't reply showing clear irritation. It is a possibility, yes yet for what purpose? something is amiss here.

"Hilazat, he is the village's tailor. You will need a proper robe so people can recognize you as a Vestra. Tell him i send you. Oh and," she pulls out a small piece of paper with a small pouch filled with copper pieces "We are missing a handful of ingredients and other things. It is about time to get to know our little village"

>Mieglo rummaged through an array of old vials till she brings up one of them with a bubbling green liquid inside. " Whatever you have been cursed with with, it has to be chained to your soul . This will make you able to have a chance for resisting its temptations. My father made it long ago so it might have lost a bit of its potency."

The alchemist nods "I will brew something, we still have an hour before opening our usual business." you take a quick look at the list, it went as follows:

3 bottles of mixed animal blood - Arayal the hunter 6 copper

1 small bag whistlefeather - Timothy the butcher 3 copper

5 of Luchkesht mushrooms picked by the children (especially Popsy and Gritten) 3 copper

9 empty vials from Henrick the glassmith 12 copper

Time to go.
_______

The smell of fresh air reinvigorated you. The village ebbs with life at its slow pace. You pity their mud riddled life. It is too....simple for your taste. Since the village is small, you won't find any problems in finding them. Well, the hunter might be a problem. Maybe the children too if they keep loafing around.

Currently a small gang of five were running all round the village in mindless joy, laughing and giggling at the slightest thing. one of them however, had a basket with her name Gritten on the side . This must be the one.

"You have Luchkesht mushrooms? Vestra Mieglo wants some. I got the copper."

"Yeah!" the girl hops from excitement "Vestra Mieglo is good. She smiles a lot! You should smile too mister!"

She removes a red piece of cloth over her basket. you see some pebbles, flower petals and the mushroom you want, it is one of the few sweet mushroom with patchy colours of red, green and grey.

You can help to notice something else shiny in her basket. It was definitely a plant. The rest is not known.

"Here you go! Say hello to Vestra pretty please!"

You are no thief but your hand was nimble enough to snatch the item without her noticing. The stupid children can't grasp the importance of these 'shinies' in your line of work. you will put it in good use.

This shiny turns out to be none other than Moon Duranadne, an uncommon plant to be found. Its glowing flower has different uses but mainly it is used as an addendum to accelerate Nigredo process. It doesn't do much as an ingredient except increasing making the final product more calm in behavior. Regardless it is a nice find.

Next one on the list was this hunter. Yolkiz forest, he must have went there. In a surprising turn of an event, you find the emerging out of the forest by the time you went there. It is getting close to midday. The hunter must have a small shack inside in the forest to so early and quickly.

A gauntlet of dead rabbits and squirrels was firmly tied to his belt. Good catch by the looks of it.
"I am here for the blood." your demanded bluntly.

He exchanged a heartily smile with you "Of course , I mixed plenty o those. Hmm, I have never seen you 'round here. Who are you?"

The butcher was a strong burly man with a disfiguring scar running down his right eye to the side of his mouth. Nothing about his attire or his tools of the trade spoke of the basics of hygiene. You find Timothy chopping some meat in the open. Beneath his feet was an old grey dog gnawing through a femur with glee.

The moment this dog laid its eyes on you, it snarls assuming an aggressive stance towards you.

"My dog smells wicked men, you are no customer of mine. Get ye gone." he spat to his right side.

>Is this a proper way to speak to a Vestra?

The butcher completely ignores you. His mutt was waiting for the first command to sink its teeth on your leg. Disappointed, you leave the butcher to his own devices.

There isn't much left on the list. Your stomach growls in protest. You saw a small tavern while you were heading for the butcher. Buying something to eat doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Finding the glassmith shouldn't be too hard. His workplace and home was close to the village's elder.

Henrick the Glassmith was foreigner like you with a darker skin than anyone you saw so far and a short fuzzy hair. His exaggerated facial features made him appear more jubilant to everyone around him. His overly muscular body didn't fit with his current profession. Children apparently frequents his workplace for neatly done glass figurines.

After a brief exchange, you found out that he was a slave bought by a Glassmith called Henrick from a faraway land. He inherited his master's name and profession to honour him. Henrick seems like a nice fellow, you wish you can say the same about about that damn butcher.

_________

Nighttime was upon you, most of the villagers went to their dwellings. You on the other hand, had a robe to get. Thankfully, you ran into the watchman Rees and a different fellow. He let you roam freely.

Last stop was the tailor. Hilazat was no where to be found, a young beautiful woman with a pristine body and face took his place instead " Father went to Cavon yesterday, I am his daughter, Alva. You said something about Vestra Mieglo?"

Looks like she and her father only lives here. The smell of the stew she was making grumbled your empty stomach even more "Yes, I need an Alchemist robe just like hers." you stated.

"Ah, so you are the one who made these grenades that kill the monster of the field? Vestra Mieglo told me so." The girl asks with great anticipation in her breath.

"You know a lot, Vestra. i wish i can be someone like you but Vestra Mieglo says i dont have ' it '. i am neither born with greatness nor granted by its fate. I will live and die here as a tailor's daughter."

You didn't comment. Indeed, this 'tainted' gift can not be earned. You either have it or not. There was some Alchemist who tried to prove that our gift can be passed from a parent to his/her off spring. It was met with little proof. You wonder what became of that Alchemist.

Was he your friend? you can not recall. Curses.

You stood still while Alva was taking your measurements. You can't help but to notice her delicate hands being a bit bold while measuring you. Her eyes constantly flickering refusing to meet yours. Her breath was growing heavier with each passing second.

"That be all Vestra Bartholomaeus. A single day and the robe will be ready." She clearly looked a tad disappointed. Before you can say your thanks, your stomach grumbles in protest.

You returned home tired and hungry. Mieglo was waiting for you with the potion you wanted. The Ruptoa Midyalis should give you some control over this accursed dagger.

You reported your success ( and failure) in retrieving what she wanted with a small exception; telling her that you stole the Moon Duranadne from a mere child won't do you good. She accepted both with a garetful smile on her face.

A stale bread and old cheese, this was your dinner. You were starting to have regrets on not eating the stew then again, Alva would have seen it as a nod to her advancements. Speaking of which, why would she do such a thing in the first place? Was it you just imagining things?

You clearly didn't have the age or the looks to be appealing to fair maidens like her. Mayhaps your appeal was knowledge? She had a clear intrest in alchemy. Well, you wouldn't mind-

Nah, now it is not the time. You must break this curse lest it consumes you whole. You fall asleep in your bed with thoughts about the morrow.

The study room had a lot of books to choose from with different topics. Some were outdated and obsolete, others were leaping into unknown territories. Few were written by madmen, incompatible scribbles of a lost mind. All were supposedly bought by Mieglo's father or inherited from past Alchemists of her family.

Three books piqued your intrest. First was ' Thottlol's breakdown : Quebirth', a relatively small book with handy illustrations and what not. Easy to digest but without too much of usefulness to you.

The second one was 'Lagvaruin Moserium' , a translated book from a language unknown to you. The original author is no where to be found on the cover or the introduction. It was a medium sized book. It can be useful to you if you can bear some lost-in-translation annoyances here and there.

The last one was ' Celestium Memoir Vol. 16.' . It was probably older than you and Mieglo combined. While it may seem like this century old book is about to turn into dust at any moment, it must have held the insight of past Alchemists. Not to be easily discarded.

Interesting, the original author (whoever he may be) hailed from what he describes to be a 'frozen hell'. Alchemists there were called 'heat birthers' since they converted mainly flesh and pebbles into heatstones which -according to the book- can last for days.

Those heat birthers were specialized in Nigredo process above all else. There is still much to learn from these odd fellows. Too bad the translation is so rigid and literal, some sentences didn't make a lick of sense to you. Oh well.

2-4 days left

Mieglo mostly left you to your own devices, No customer for today it seems. What a shame. Your robe had arrived via a little boy called Popsy. It fit you well, you finally felt like you are back again on the saddle.

The Village is bustling with preparations. Apparently, the wheat festival is due to tomorrow. A lot of bakery product is to be expected. or so Mieglo says.

You were organizing some vials on the counter when you heard a gentle knock on the door. You reluctantly opened the door revealing a couple of farmers, mostly old timers with toothless smiles.

"It is still too early. We are closed, come bac-"

"Honourable Vestra, we want to thank ye and Vestra Mieglo for saving our crops from the beastie. They're our life blood, we simple folks will be doomed without a good harvest." the eldest of the group replies. He probably didn't hear you in the first place.

"Yes, your gratitude is acknowledged. Are you here to buy something?" Something about their flapping gums really irritated you.

"Nay....well, The way we see it. The Vestras have to be our guest of honour in the festival! Please accept our kind invitation, it will mean a lot to the whole village!"

The day was more or less uneventful until sunset when a woman in outlandish red and light blue clothes arrives with four bodyguards with similar choice of attire . Her skin with engraved with Alchemical symbols. One was faintly glowing on her forehead.

A malnourished, almost naked bald man steps to the side of the woman. You can not see them yet you can feel an Immaterium chain around his neck connected to her right hand. How is this possible? Immaterium is so unstable.

She didn't speak, only eyeing her surroundings with a revolting look on her face. Mieglo stood next to you with a perturbed face.

" Leriel and Mistress X'th'lon demands to occupy this sty until she ... finishes rejuvenation. The honour of housing a Leriel shall be more than enough for a payment." the chained man speaks softy, his eyes never to leave the floor.

This Title, Leriel, sounds awfully familiar . You remember it being not allowed in most places. Those who do, however are few are far between...often travelling from one country to another for their services.

Your eyes caught the glimpse of more chains of Immaterium branching from her hand but you couldn't see their end. Perhaps there are more around her that you can't see.

>[let Mieglo do the talking]
>Of course, we are more than honored. The place is yours.

Cold sweat broke out on her temple "L-leril X'th'lon, Our current situation is no-"

"You dare and speak against my most supreme presence?! " A twisted voice came from the malnourished man. The Immaterium chain around his neck tightened in anger. Now you recall the true nature of this Leriel.

As an Alchemist, the best you can do with souls is to transfer it from once place to another or to keep it in Statis.

Soul benders or Leriel on the other hand can do much, much more with a human, a demon or a colourless soul. They are master enchanters capable of reshaping and splitting souls.

This Rejuvenation process mentioned is more or less the consumption of a bent soul to retain the body of the Soul bender. She might look beautiful, but her body is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Six to eight souls are consumed per year...maybe more too. Excessive consumption of souls may lead to Vas perditum where multiple souls inhabit the same vessel. This is the definition of true madness.

This poor soul must have been a convict or a slave. A nobody. No one will miss him.

Leriel X'th'lon looked at you once. She can sense it. The bond with the dagger but only the slightest of traces . A powerful Soul Bender like her can help you....or she can consume your very soul.

>[Stay out of this]
>Our Apologize, your Mistress is free to use whatever inside.

She and her flock of guards moved in unison to the workplace where the dagger is contained. Do her bodyguards really have a will on their own?

You will never know.

The guards were rummaging through your stuff, gathering ingredients for the Rejuvenation rite. The soul bender on the other hand, had already opened a small sealed box which contains the dagger.

'There is no escape...'
'You can not run...'
'I am your eternal reward...'

You found yourself on the floor once the Soul bender tries to assert her dominance over the dagger. Your very soul was getting torn apart in this struggle.

"OBEY ME, KNEEL BEFORE MY MIGHT!!!!" X'th'lon spoke for the first time. Her unseen chains was trying to coil around the dagger.

Then it happened.

A small burst of Immaterium had sent the woman flying. Bits of fingers and other charred flesh were splattered all over the floor. Her guards didn't flinch as their mistress stood up slowly missing chunks of her face and both of her hands. She was unphased by such grievous injury. You were no longer in pain, curses...even a power individual like her were no match for the dagger.

The Malnourished man addresses you with a twisted voice "I am pleased, Decades has it been without any proper challenge. For entertaining me, I shall send you a gift from my personal collection. May it serves you well in retaining your freedom from this curse."

>Tell your Mistress that we are most thankful for her gift.

The Soul bender didn't reply back, instead she was silently overseeing her guards. This gift, whatever it may be, will take some time to be delivered here. You are perhaps lucky ; many could easily be tempted by the dagger. X'th'lon is already power-satiated.

Neither you nor Mieglo raise an objection while the guards took an ample supply of ingredients, some were common...other were on the expensive side.
Two circles were created, both were conjoined by a Spinalis which stabilizes the rite like an anchor as well as transferring material from on circle to another. There were a couple of node for addendum as well as an Exitus ....Exitus? What is that? you only remember that it is tied to an anchor somehow that's it.

Why is it outside the circle?

Your are too tired, your body is yearning for a good sleep yet your mind is urging you to watch this peculiar rite.

>Watch the Rejuvenation rite
>Go the sleep

Both the soul bender and her slave took off their clothes simultaneously then each proceeded to assume a fetal position inside the circle. When it came to controlling the circle itself, It was done via one of the guards. Clearly he was acting as a puppet for his mistress.

The rite began at earnest with the man screaming as much as his lungs would allow him to, his flesh and soul were getting slowly consumed by a blackened ethereal fire, not even his charred bones were left.

The same can be said on the other side with one notable exception. The ethereal flame was white and smoothing to some extent and the Mistress laid there emotionless. The Spinalis was slowly deconstructing and reconstructing her flesh and bones in the Exitus . At the same time, it was extracting everything from the other circle.

It was a very slow process but it is done. X'th'lon was reborn anew with a rejuvenated flesh.

By witnessing the rite you start to recall some of your lost memories.

Control: 2/3
Circle: 3/5
Enchanting: 1/7

Without any further interaction, the soul bender and her company left the place to resume their travels leaving an ugly mess for you and Mieglo to clean up. Welp, this gift better be worth it.

"Wheat festival is tomorrow. I can't really miss another day of work. i don't know what to do." Mieglo sighs, like you, she looks really tired.

>Actually....[Tell her about your the farmers and the coin you demanded]

"We are not a charity, they will be fattening up with coins from the harvest at any rate."

"You don't get it do you?" She took a deep breath "I will set things right with them tomorrow. Goodnight." She left you with clear frustration written on her face.

The same Celestial-damned tune gave you a headache throughout the whole day. Of course none would come here today.

Or so you thought.

At the end of the day, A traveler entered the shop, he looks like one of those adventurous types with a curved sword resting on his shoulder. Next to him was a Homunculus made out of iron and flesh, mostly iron though. The homunculus carried an great club enough to level any man to a pulp. It is not a surprise really, Iron in particular is a synonym to strength in Alchemy.

The Iron Homunculus is missing a good chunk of his right arm, he is kind of reluctant to come here in the first unlike traveler who dons an worried expression.

"Kondarious, friend, this is really no-"
"Nonsense! he'll get you fixed right away." he shifts his attention to you "Are you Hagathar?"

>Yes, That i am
>No, I am his daughter's partner. He passed away recently.
>>
>>2427091
>He passed away I'm afraid. I work with Mieglo, his daughter.

No need to let him know that Mieglo is new to this.
>>
"Shame that is. Pay my respects to his daughter will you?"

"Right, so what you need?"

"You see, he and my friend over here were tracking a demon who adores to wear the skin and flesh of his victims, never to expose his true form."

"We almost got him, Vestra . " The iron Homunculus continues while his partner was pulling something out of his bag "Had it not been for another whoreson, a naked demon who attacked us both. I still can not comprehend why. He pulled out my arm to hit the other demon with it."

"Found it," The traveler declares, it was a crumpled piece of paper, it had a handful of verses that weren't strange to you. "A quick Enchantment, Vestra. I am willing to pay you handsomely if the job is done right."

Enchantments are the most optimal way to deal with fixing a Homunculus; potions (At least the good ones)) are not guaranteed to work since they get confused with the soul inside, A colourless soul is almost identical to a human's but not quite.

These enchantments are more or less songs to be recited over an object. In this case, you will sing to the stub of his arm to grow back to its original form. Unlike Transmutations, Enchantments have a lot of restrictions , it mostly alters the property of an object without altering its state. It is a peculiar branch of Alchemy with varying degrees of success and failure. As Leriel X'th'lon showed you, Masters of Enchantments can be dangerous.

Circles are not necessary in enchantments. It varies according to the song used. This song doesn't need one. Good. Ingredients are also not necessary. The song itself holds most of the power needed to add a new property.

The Majority of songs consists of two folds : Solis (start) and Luna (end) . An integral part of enchantments is the tone used while singing; a upbeat tone will have a different result compared to a monotonous one.

You guide the Homunculus down at the work place. He sits down on the floor, ready for the enchantment. You sit next to him ready to recite Solis. It may look like gibberish to you but once you start, it will make sense.

The song is called 'Downfall of the livid horizon' It was clearly written for healing mostly metal Homunculi. Your recite these gibberish words like an actor in a theater brimmed with dramatic overtones. It looks like the newly formerly metal was slightly darker in colour compared to the main body but also a bit sturdier. You were close to Luna, you can either keep or change your tone.

You finishes the song on a high note. His hand is discolored but functional. The Homunculus kept flickering his new set of fingers. They were alright.

You were starting to recall more of your memories

Enchanting: 2/7
Homunculus: 4/7

"Thank you Vestra. My arm is good as new." Juxta bowed to you. Well, this one is almost human-like in his behavior. He must have lived a experienced a lot. A homunculus like him would yield a very good harvest. Oh well.

"How much do you need?" His companion pulled out a sack filled with mostly copper coins.

"One second," You looked through the current ledger skimming through dozens of transactions. You find a similar case in which Mieglo's father took one hundred and two copper coins (or one silver and two copper coins) but that was five years ago. You should really speak with Mieglo to determine the standard pricing of your services.

You would have asked to copy the song itself but it would be useless, Enchanters are the only ones capable of copying both the content and the power of the song. It is a tedious process to be sure, your current enchanting skills are not sufficient enough to do so.

Once they were gone, you made yourself something to eat while waiting for Mieglo to come back, these fools are still celebrating. when will it end?

"Blah, bad customers" To your right, you found the demon's head peaking from a mirror, he slowly materialized outside with some slashes and burns here and there.

Again, he speaks to you without a shred of clothes " Why didn't you throw the dice, hmmmmmm? you did think about my fair deal didn't you? Oh and by the way, you can thank me for repelling a sneaky demon who caught the sweet scent of your dagger. Go on, I am waaaaiiiitingggg...."

Once this ordeal is over, you will take your fifteen percent share. For now though, you must focus on maximizing the shop's profits while maintaining a good stance with potential future customers. You decided to pour what little coin you had into the tax finances. They won't be much of a good use to you if the whole place got torn down.

"Stars bless ye, Vestra!" The man's face brightened as he handled you the flowers.

"Where do you get these?" Curiously, you ask.

"They be Mount Pillador , I picked'em myself. Two days worth of travel from the village." Well, it seems that getting this flower can prove to be quite bothersome.

Not every tonic and such were exclusively made by Alchemists ; there are these traditional professions like an herbalist, an apothecary and so on. Of course they despise any alchemist's gut for 'ruining their lives'. They try to counter this by offering cheaper prices.

As for the perfume, it is a trivial task to perform. You can either make it yourself, allow Mieglo to do it by her own or simply perform a Geminos Perfectas with her.

Mieglo went for the Feuris circle. It is an easy circle to make and there is no need for more complicated one so it is all good.

As for the ingredients themselves, She added lard and Wormwood powder alongside the flowers themselves, it is a bit of odd choice to add the powder; you felt it was kind of a waste. Nevertheless, you allowed Mieglo to do whatever she wants.

Nigredo went smoothly, Mieglo turned all ingredients into liquid; there was little need to turn any of them into void/ethereal state since it is just a perfume.

Albedo was less successful, She wanted to get more Mallum Prima out of it but was unable to.

Now it is your turn, to switch control over the circle. You must press your hand over your partner's then your partner would slowly retract her hands away. It is a slow procedure yet an important one.

Your large rough hands contrasted with Mieglo's delicate and petit ones. She definitely looked uncomfortable in the mean time "Are we done?"

"Not yet." you eyes were fixed on the circle itself to check if there is any change during the transition or not.

Finally you are in control. It is Citriniatas time. The desired state for the perfume is Liquid . This shouldn't be too far to achieve since all the ingredients are liquids themselves .

"I...aye Vestra. I will bring you the flowers." Neither him nor Mieglo expected this. He happily left the shop, a couple of days and he'll be back with Faloneyes.

Your Alchemist partner was clearly fumed "Are you messing with me? First you want to exploit the farmers and now you are giving away our services for free?!!! I don't care if Targa....Tar...I..I..."

The woman stops her rant, she hazily leaned against the wall, her face was all flustered. Trickles of sweat ran down her temple, Mieglo look at you with a strange look on her face while breathing heavily "...you...The Aphrodisiac...too strong...I...I..."

You too were starting to feel strange but not as apparent as Mieglo is. Perhaps the perfume is too potent ?or maybe it is more so on women? Deep inside of you, a primal urge slowly ebbs.

"N-yes...Sec...second drawer on your...right" came her hazily reply. After some quick searching you found it. It is labeled 'Deplle Salts' , it is more or less green granulated salts stored in a small jar.

Once you open the lid, a horrid smell escapes its previous confines quelling any desire you once had, the same can be said for Mieglo. She almost gagged in the first couple of minutes. Without thinking, you close the lid coughing in response and almost spilling out your breakfast on the floor "What is that thing?"

"A gift," she coughed some more "to my father from a foreign land. " At least her mind is now clearer. Some sort of a bird mask will be great in the future.

"That will be for the best, yes." She said nothing more before heading upstairs. Things might have went differently this day. Regardless, you are content with the current outcome.

It is an hour or so past midday. The day is still young, a customer or two might break the awful silence around you.

Stopping here for today, we are slowly getting back on track. Thank you for playing!

You awake with a massive pain radiating from the back of your head probably not from the headbutt itself but rather from where you dropped your head on the floor. Mieglo was by your side , her expression was an intangible mix of anger, worry and regret " What in the blazes happened yesterday? The thieves barely stole anything. Damn it, i shouldn't have left you alone."

"My head..." every single word felt like a poisonous stab. Mieglo showed you a small note she found on your unconscious body.

'Here is your 'extra silver', swine'
Apparently he did leave a silver piece before leaving. At the moment, you didn't know if this is a good or a bad thing.

"A Homunculus is in order. To protect both of us." you couldn't agree more. Sadly, You don't have a colourless soul to use.

You learned more about these Heat birthers, to them, Colorless souls were the spiritual embodiment of the 'scared flame' which is the source of all heat and warmth.

wars and skirmishes for Heat birthers were a common thing among the surrounding tribes. Since the most prevalent thing around is ice, Ice Homuncului were created to protect their master fiercely.

New day dawns, things are looking a bit grim with a week left. The dagger is almost silent, perhaps this is due to Ruptoa Midyalis you regularly take? you have no clue.

Come to think of it, why could you taste the lentil soup while other assortments of foods and drinks were bland and tasteless to you? More unanswered questions to burrow inside your mind.

Mieglo called you for a moment, she pointed at an individual squatting in front of the house in red and light blue clothes, Foreign to these lands. He had a crossbow resting between his bulky hand.

It was a book titled 'Silent songs of the Dergivav' Also enchanted like its holder.

"Twenty rare enchantments written by a powerful enchanter. Every page will grow back, Alchemist. "

"Thank your mistress for her gift, we will put them into good use." With that said, The man left silently. Like a curious child, Mieglo dived her head into the book. About half of the book is dedicated to Homuncului. The rest were miscellaneous. All of the songs were dreadfully long so a good sum of payment is to be expected from these enchantments. Neat.

According to the author, the greatest achievement a heat birther can reach is the creation of The 'avatar of flames'. A giant Homunculus which provide endless warmth to the whole tribe and some of its territories.. It can be utilized as a devastating war machine yet none of the tribes did so since they are too precious and all . They are made from these heatstones combined with ice imbued with blood.

The translator added a note saying that only the head of these avatars was found, it is as large as a small shack. Now how could they muster enough ingredients to create such a thing? you hoped to find the answer in the last chapters.

Targan had came back with a basket of Faloneyes. The lad had an arching smile on his face, your perfume had undoubtedly did its job. Moments later, a trio of armed men in the same uniform had arrived, all had an angina you saw a couple of time in the village. A woman was spearheading the group, she had the polished armour of the three of them yet her face was more battle-worn than the other two.

"What is it now, Rosetta?" Mieglo clearly knew this individual, judging by her tone, the Alchemist isn't fond of her being around.

" Lord Porgos demands your service, now . He is suffering form a problem in his keep that your ilk have created. Pack the necessities and make it quick. Patience is not my strongest suits..."

"Mieglo, who is the old sack of bones?" the runt asked. What sack bones? foolish woman.

"He is my partner, Bartholomaeus Malthazsar."

"How quaint, but of course this is what we need, more Alchemists." She addresses Mieglo with a less sarcastic tone "During our excavations in the lower and older parts of the keep, we found one of your spawns shaped like a little girl. This harlot turned four of my men into stone . Lord Porgos compels me to order you to control this thing to be 'on his side' ."

With a simple gesture, Her company left the shop waiting outside "I want you to kill it instead, Leave no trace of its unholy existence in the world and i will reward you."

"T-this is too sudden...I don't expect Lord Porgos will pay us."

"You'll have his 'gratitude', you will get paid provided you follow my command." Rosetta didn't hide her hatred for her lord. Interesting. "I am leaving you an hour to decide . It is not wise to ignore the lord's demand."

With that said, she too had left the shop. Mieglo looks indecisive "We have little information about the homunculus other than it may have been dormant, small in size and can petrify humans, curses..." She sighed "The trip to the lord's town Dormatus will take a day at the very least, that means an average of three days wasted on probably no coin." so many choices and outcomes...

Before forming any sort of a plan, You and Mieglo had to settle on a decision:

One can go, the other will stay here to run the shop. Ideally that would have been the perfect solution; pleasing the lord and gaining coin at the same time. That is without factoring how dangerous this homunculus is. You don't know whether the petrification process is based on vision or something else. There might be other abilities of said homunculus.

Another safe option is to go together. This might affect you financially with only four days to earn the desired coin. There is Rosetta's offer yet killing the Homunculus might anger the lord.

Ignoring the summon is an option, this will weaken the already fragile bonds between you and Lord Porgos. Unseen consequences might erupt from said option then again, you would have a whole week to earn coin.

A final option is to send one who will summon the demon to deal with the homunculus however getting in debt with a demon is never a good idea on the long turn.

You plan your next words carefully...

>Mieglo-Alone
>Mieglo-Alone/Demon's dice
>Mieglo and You
>You-Alone
>You-Alone/Demon's dice
>Reject the summons
>>
>>2447109
Let's try and sell the demon on taking the homunculus for its own devices.

There is no way a demon would see no use for a homunculus that can make human statues.

The deal:
He can have the homunculus, we'll summon him where it is, PROVIDED he does nothing that alerts the village, or Dormatus, to the fact the homunculus is alive, or the fact that demons were involved. Also he can't petrify us.

"Just thought you might like the idea of having a basilisk child that turns things to stone for you, your call!"
>>
>>2447132
"Well, i don't like where this is going but shouldn't we ask him first? I mean what if he refuses?" Mieglo had a point, this demon is a carefree, energetic one. He earns his satisfaction by being a mischievous little thing.

Out of any possible sight, you summon the demon. He greets you with an erect member and a long sigh "You just had to do it now, of all times didn't you"

His annoyance turned into a devilish smile when Mieglo stormed out of the workplace with a blushing face "I...take that back. Perfect timing, Ohohoho! The lust of demon prick stirs within her, i just know it!" he leaned casually against the wall "So what you want? hmmmm?"

You carefully explained your situation to him. His enthusiasm fades with every word of yours "A child? what in the rotten celestial would i do with that?!"

"She turn men into st-"

"Pffffffffffffffft, silly human. My 'little demon' guides most of my desires. Children are too underdeveloped for my tastes...both normal and deviant ones. I see no net gain in helping you. Unless you want to include your little dagger in this horrid deal, eh? EH?" He winks at you joyfully, waiting for an answer.

The demon sighed before slitting his own wrist with his sharp nails, burning black blood oozes from the wound on the floor. With a flick of this other hand, the puddle formed feminine figure with busty and outrageous proportions.

The demon then closes his eyes for a second before touching the humanoid figure instantly turning it into red stone "There, a live demonstration my little alchemist. My desire for power is already satiated. It takes an immense source of power to pique my intrest like your lovely dagger. Are we done here? I have lusty maidens to spy on. "
