>Psimon Says Edition

Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

The odd mishmash of former allies and friends race through the halls of Titans Tower, making for the medical wing, where Psimon is likely to show himself in an effort to take your wounded friends back to the HIVE. You don't recall this man from your days with Blood, but Marissa and Linus seemed familiar with him, so that may be worth asking about.

"I'll see you guys there!" Troia declares after a few moments, leaving the rest of you eating dust as she dashes ahead at super-human speed.

A noise causes you to look over your shoulder, just in time to see Raven fade away into the darkness, presumably teleporting right to the medical wing, and leaving you to run with the others. Cyborg, Linus, and Marissa can only run in the direction of your intended destination, unless you want to risk teleportation. You aren't sure how much energy that would take, and you aren't exactly refreshed at the moment. It may be best to save that for later.

"The two of them won't be enough," Marissa warns.

"Raven's fought Psimon on her own before," Cyborg informs her as your team turns a corner. "Her and Troia will be fine!"

"Even if they can't beat him, they should at least be able to buy us time," Linus adds. "Let's hurry."

You round another corner, nearly colliding with Robin, who is making his way down the hall, leaning on the wall a bit to steady himself in his injured state. Cyborg stops in his tracks, and the three of you behind him pretty much slide into his back, nearly falling to the ground after.

"Cyborg," Robin greets, sounding both relieved and worried. "Troia just zipped past here. What's going on, who set off the alarm?"

"That would be us," Marissa answers, picking herself up and offering a hand to help out Linus.

Robin's relief is quickly replaced by anger, and he gets into the best fighting pose he can manage right now. He doesn't look very threatening, but you know him well enough to understand that even hurt as he is, he's not someone to be underestimated.

"What are they doing here?" he demands.

>A. "I convinced them to stop fighting for Blood. But we can talk about that later. Psimon's here, and he's heading for the medical wing!"

>B. "I'll tell you later. We need to get to the medical wing fast!"

>>C. "What are you doing out here? You should be resting."

>>D. "Why didn't you just try calling us on our communicators?"

"I convinced them to stop fighting for Blood," you tell Robin. "But we can talk about that later. Psimon's here, and he's heading for the medical wing!"

"What?!" Robin asks, his voice all fear again. "Psimon? What is he doing here?"

"He's here for your wounded," Linus answers, starting ahead. "And he's going to get them if we don't hurry!"

Marissa follows right behind Linus, while Cyborg moves to help Robin along. You resume your movement toward the medical wing, only to stop as Cyborg suddenly cries out in surprise and falls forward to the ground.

"Cyborg!" Robin shouts in worry, somehow managing to avoid being taken down with him.

Your leader turns and looks down the hall, and you just barely catch the sight of Psimon vanishing around the corner at the other end. Robin moves to give chase, while Cyborg begins to push himself back to his feet, turning in the direction of the fleeing villain, and watching as Robin makes a strong effort to pursue, though to seemingly no effect.

Marissa and Linus are nowhere to be seen, probably having gotten out of earshot while they booked it toward the medical wing. That leaves you, Cyborg, and an injured Robin to deal with Psimon, who now seems to be adopting hit-and-run tactics to use against you.

Cyborg's right arm turns into a Sonic Cannon, and he looks over to you.

"You with us, Crimson?" he asks. "Let's go take this old creep down a peg."

>A. "Sounds like a plan."

Everyone is expecting us to head to the medical center. Even without considering whether or not Cyborg, Peter, and wounded Robin could handle Psimon, his power set could easily be used to lead us on a wild goose chase, then the others might start looking for us and leave Rose and Starfire with fewer guards.
>>
>>2418789
>>2418815
"We should keep heading for the medical wing," you tell Cyborg. "We'll be at our strongest if we're all there together."

Cyborg looks at you, then looks to the injured Robin, still not seeming like he really agrees with that plan of action. You don't blame Cyborg for wanting to hunt down Psimon and beat him before he has a chance to make a move against the injured, but you aren't even sure that the three of you could do it, or if Psimon's really even around. These could be illusions to draw you into a wild goose chase that leaves the others with less back-up.

"He's right," Robin grunt, pushing himself off of the wall and turning around to start toward you and Cyborg. "We'll just have to hope tower security comes back online and deals with him if he's still around here. If he comes to the medical wing, we'll be ready."

"Wait," Cyborg says, sounding unsure. "Tower security is offline?"

Robin pauses for a moment, looking confused. "Yeah, I-I think that Blood's squad disabled it when they broke in. Haven't you noticed that Psimon hasn't been hit with anything? He hit you in the back and ran off without even being slowed down."

"Maybe we should get security back online then," Cyborg suggests, looking to you. "It'll make the rest of the tower no-man's land for Psimon, and we'll be ready for him if he comes to the medical wing."

>A. "Alright, that sounds like a good idea."

>B. "Can you handle that? I'll get Robin back to the medical wing in the meantime."

>C. "Alright, but let's contact the others and let them know what we're doing, first."

>D. "No, we need to get to the medical wing now."

>E. "I don't like this, but Robin's the leader, it's his call."

Realization: we're strong enough to kick Blood out of our head. Perhaps we can trap Psimon in there, allowing the others to disable him while he's stuck. Psimon would not expect it because Blood would NEVER admit failure.

I think turning on the security system is an acceptable risk. I think taking an injured Robin along is less risky than letting Cy go alone, because even if everything goes tits up Peter might still be able to teleport everyone to the medical wing.
>>

"Alright, but let's contact the others and let them know what we're doing, first," you tell Cyborg, pulling out your communicator.

"No time," Robin insists, limping toward you and your other friend. "Let's just get this handled and meet them at the medical wing. Any time we waste talking is more time Psimon has to make his move."

"We can call them while we walk, dude," Cyborg reminds Robin. "But you're right, we do need to do this quickly, so come on."

Robin doesn't protest any further as you take out your communicator and call for Troia, assuming that she made it there long ago with her super speed. You're greeted by her face as she answers the call.

"Hey, where are you and Cyborg?" she asks you.

"We're with Robin," you answer. "We're going to put the tower security back online."

"With Robin?" Troia asks in confusion before a look of realization comes to her face. "Peter, that's not Robin!"

As if on cue, something strikes you in the back, and a searing pain erupts from it, spreading through much of your body as you're thrown forward to the ground, the communicator sliding from your hand as you hit the floor. The sound of Cyborg's Sonic Cannon being fired follows only seconds after, with the sound if it striking something coming just after that. As you push yourself back to your feet and turn around, you see Robin gone, and Psimon standing with a barrier between him and Cyborg.

"That barrier won't hold forever," Cyborg promises the man. "I'll break it, then I'll break you!"

Psimon doesn't say a word, but a moment later, the ground beneath Cyborg's feet crumbles, and your friend is sent screaming to the level below, hitting the ground hard, and having bits of debris fall on top of him. You know he'll be fine after a hit like that, but Psimon's divided the two of you for the moment.

Dropping his barrier, Psimon looks to you with a smile.

You reach down and pull out your blaster, staring down the smirking man as you make up your mind on how to approach this. Cyborg can get back up on his own, but a lot can happen in even that brief of a time. Psimon wanted to divide you two, and he's gotten his wish. But, going for Cyborg right now will really just leave you vulnerable to attacks.

Fine. If Psimon wants you all to himself, he can have you. The weight of a blaster in your hand feels familiar, and strangely comforting. Your trigger finger twitches, muscle memory eager to get back into the swing of things. Training with the HIVE made you a skilled fighter even without powers. You may not be one of them anymore, but that training remains, buried inside. Now you'll let it out.

Bringing your arm up and aiming right between Psimon's eyes, you pull the trigger, letting your projectile fly as you start moving forward. Predictably, Psimon brings up a barrier, stopping the shot dead. Still, you keep firing as you close in on your opponent, dropping down and sweeping at his legs. His barrier extends, stopping your attack, and when you follow with a Psychic Strike, you once again feel like your mind's hitting a wall.

Next, you teleport, moving behind Psimon and bringing back your left arm, clenching your hand into a fist to strike the man as hard as you can. A barrier quickly pops up behind Psimon, who begins to turn toward you. His eyes widen slightly in surprise as you're suddenly hanging right above him, in the same stance as a moment before, only upside down. Smirking wickedly, you pull the trigger, striking that dome on top of Psimon's head.

At such close range, the blast throws you back, but using your flight ability, you're able to land on your feet, albeit with a bit of a headache. You look over to see Psimon stumbling, clutching his head in obvious pain. Whether through the strength of the dome, the power of the blaster, or Psimon's psychic abilities, his head is still fine, and the dome is intact. But, it looks like you left him with one mother of a headache.

>Continued

As he continues stumbling, there's a crash, and the floor beneath him collapses. Rushing toward the new hole in the hallway, you look down to see Cyborg holding the man by the collar of his robes. Giving the man a light toss, Cyborg punches him in the face with so much force that you can hear the wall crack when his head collides with it, though at this angle you can't actually see it.

Cyborg stands ready to attack once again, and a red blur shoots past you and into the hole, Donna Troy appearing beside your cybernetically enhanced pal.

"Don't even think about trying to run off again," Cyborg warns, training his sonic cannon on the man's head.

"I'll restrain him," Troia volunteers, pulling out her lasso.

"I think I'm going to keep this blaster," you remark, hanging onto the weapon as you drop down to the level below, where Donna binds Psimon with her lasso as Cyborg keeps his Sonic Cannon trained on the man.

For good measure, you keep your blaster trained on Psimon, while your free hand pulls out your communicator. You make contact with any Titans in the tower that will answer, which ends up meaning Raven, Beast Boy, and Robin. You want to take a roll call and make sure that everyone is accounted for, and no extra Titans are running around.

"Everyone besides you, Cyborg, and Donna are in the medical wing," Raven informs you. "Including your two old teammates."

"How are things on your end?" Robin asks.

"Looks like we've got Psimon secure," you tell him. "Anyone got Ryan and Paul?"

"I can go get them," Beast Boy volunteers, and you can see by the movement behind him that he's climbing out of bed.

"I'll do it," Raven announces, earning a disappointed look from Beast Boy.

"Alright," Robin agrees as Raven ends her transmission. "Once we have everyone secure, we're going to need to get tower security back online and get started on repairs."

"Got it," Cyborg announces from next to you.

"I'll ensure that Psimon does not go anywhere before we can properly incarcerate him," Troia declares. "Cyborg, Peter, the two of you can go turn the security system back on now if you wish."

"I won't be much help with getting the systems running again," you admit to the others. "Why don't I stay here just in case?"

"I doubt I'll need the help," Troia tells you. "But should something come up, some back-up would be appreciated. Cyborg, are you alright by yourself?"

"No problem," Cyborg tells her. "Pete's right, he'd just be standing over me while I work. If I decide I want that, I'll call Beast Boy."

Cyborg heads off to complete the necessary work in restoring Titans Tower's security to operation, leaving you and Donna alone with Psimon. He seems to be slowly coming out of his daze, and is already scowling like he's ready to hit someone.

"You will make no effort to escape," Donna tells him sternly. "You will sit still and docile until we can safely incarcerate you."

The lasso binding Psimon begins to glow, a silvery-blue light surrounding the dangerous villain. The scowl on his face soon vanishes, and he remains completely still, sitting quietly and calmly in front of you.

"I guess you really don't need my help," you remark as you stare at the pacified prisoner. "What did you just do?"

"Well, you've probably put together that this isn't an ordinary lasso," Donna tells you, her voice oddly amused. "It has mystic properties that make it entirely indestructible. And, when I bind someone with it, they're compelled to obey my commands so long as their willpower is not greater than mine."

That sounds useful, especially in this sort of situation. You can't really think of what to say to something like that, though. A magic, unbreakable lasso that can make people do things? Good thing Donna's a nice person, or there's no telling what kind of things she could do with that kind of thing, especially with her super strength and speed added in.

"My blaster just got a lot less cool," is all you can really think to say.

Donna chuckles at that, looking rather proud by this point. "Well, I'd say that depends on how well you wield that blaster. It's not always about the weapon or tool, sometimes it's all about the wielder."

She says that, but she's not standing next to some magical super rope when all she has is a gun.

"Did any of the others wake up yet?" you ask, turning the conversation to your other friends.

"Not yet," Donna tells you. "But they will rise in their own time. Rose and Starfire are tough girls, Pete. It'll take more than this to put them down for good."

Comforting, you think.

"How are Robin and Beast Boy?"

"Well, keeping them from getting up and getting involved keeps getting harder," Troia answers. "I'd say that's a good sign. They'll probably be sore for a day or two, but they're tough, too. They'll be back on duty in no time."

"I think we could all use a vacation at this point," you tell Donna, realizing just how exhausted you feel right now. "Or, at least a day off."

"Time to rest is always important," she agrees, leaning against the wall and maintaining her hold on the lasso. "But, we don't always get to choose when to take that time. The tower now needs repairs, Bane and Blood are still out there, and two criminal organizations are growing in power. It may be some time before we can have a vacation, and until everyone's recovered, the odds of us even getting full days off aren't looking very good."

She looks over at you, sympathy in her eyes as she realizes how tired you are.

"You push yourself hard, Peter," she tells you. "And you're going to have to keep pushing yourself, maybe every day. It's not an easy job, protecting others. Few among humans, aliens, and even my own people are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to do what we do. I haven't known you for very long, but in the time we've known each other, I've come to understand that you're strong enough to deal with tough times. "Thanks for the confidence," you tell your friend.

Donna shrugs. "You've earned it."

The day passes. Raven was able to easily make sure that Paul and Ryan didn't go anywhere, or so she thought. They were bound and locked in Beast Boy's room, their weapons and armor confiscated. But, when Beast Boy went to check on them later, all he found was two broken pairs of handcuffs, cut rope, and a broken window.

Psimon, on the other hand, was not so lucky as to escape. Donna kept him bound with her lasso while Raven and Robin set to work creating a cell for the man. With the city prison currently in disarray and in desperate need of repair, it was generally agreed that they would be unable to contain Psimon. So, with the permission of the mayor, the two Titans created a cell in the basement, magically equipped to keep the dangerous prisoner from escaping.

Cyborg was able to quickly get security back online, though the other repairs took several hours. It's well into the night by the time all of the work is done. Those of you that aren't passed out in the medical wing stumble into the living room and collapse in exhausted heaps.

"What a day...." Beast Boy groans.

"Tell me about it..." Raven agrees.

Marissa clears her throat. "So, are we done here? Because, no offense, but this isn't a place I really feel like spending the night in."

"Come on, we have guest rooms," you tell your twin.

She gives you an oddly familiar look that tells you you'd better say something actually convincing quickly.

"Just one night," you add after seeing her expression. "We can talk tomorrow, and you'll be free to go."

"You sure about that?" she asks, throwing a glance Raven's way. "I'd rather deal with you trying to stop us when you're exhausted than well rested."

"You'll be free to go," Robin assures her tiredly. "The worst thing we can actually prove you did was breaking and entering, and since you helped us deal with the other intruders, I think we can let that slide."

"Besides, I don't want you guys to be alone if Blood tries to get into your heads," you add.

Marissa crosses her arms. "Well, crap, I hadn't thought about that. So, you'll tell us how to deal with that?"

You nod at her.

"So that's it, then?" she asks, looking around the room. "We spend the night, we answer some questions, you teach us how to keep Blood out of our minds, and we can get out of here?"

"Yep," Robin tells her with a yawn.

"I believe them," Linus says, putting a hand on Marissa's shoulder. "Besides, I'd rather chance them lying and end up in a jail cell than have no defense against Blood when he comes knocking at our brains."

Marissa sighs. "Fine. But I mean it, no funny business."

She looks you dead in the eye. "We put ourselves on Blood's hit list for you, so you'd better not screw us."

"Come on, Marissa," Linus tells her, giving her shoulder a squeeze. "You know you can trust your brother."

"He's...different now," she tells him. "I mean, it's still Sam, but kind of not, but...it's confusing, and I just want to be careful."

I dunno how to put in a good write in about wanting to try and reconnect with our friends and family from our old life while still wanting to live the life we're living now and how we still care about them but also know it'll be a while before things ever feel like the way they did before, if they even can.

I think the answer is to take it slow, and Pete should say as much. He's not Sam anymore, and even if he regained his memories, he wouldn't be the Sam they knew now that he's lived as Peter. More importantly, with so much of Sam's memories buried, it'd feel like a lie to try and be him for Marissa and Linus' sake, even if the feelings we inherited from him drive us to feel compassion for them. The only honest option, I think, is to start fresh, get to know each other again, and navigate these unique, difficult circumstances we find ourselves in together, and what happens happens.

Part of that is to continue to be our genuine selves, and for now, that's Peter, and that means being here, with the Titans. Maybe we can help make arrangements so that they can be comfortable and safe, even if its not here with us (and perhaps that's for the best, for the story and for their relationship)
>>
>>2419694
"I can't be too different, because I still like you two," you tell them.

Linus smiles at this, while Marissa still looks unsure. You guess that makes sense. A friendship can start over from scratch, even if that's difficult. This whole weird family business you have going on seems like it will be much more complicated for you to deal with. Marissa being unsure makes sense. You're still unsure yourself. But you mean what you say. You care about both of them, not just because of inherited memories (though those are undeniably there), but because they seem like honestly not bad people. But one of them is blood, your twin. Between her and your mother, there's going to be some serious questions you'll have to work out.

But, that can wait. Before everyone goes to bed, you explain to Linus and Marissa how you've fended off Blood's mental shenanigans in the past. Linus, who already has psychic abilities, seems to understand better than Marissa, though she seems to get the basic concept, which is really all she needs to work off of.

By then, Raven's gone to bed, saying that all of the "warm fuzzies" are reminding her too much of Starfire. You think she's just tired and had to give some sarcastic excuse. Once you explain things to them, Linus and Marissa ask to be shown to the guest rooms. You lead the way, offering two side-by-side, but they opt to share one, probably just wanting to be close to somebody they can be sure about right now.

You come back to the living room to find Cyborg and Beast Boy sitting on the couch, flipping through channels. Robin and Troia are both gone.

You're too tired for TV night with the guys, but you walk over to the couch to speak with them, in any case. You thank Cyborg for having your back, and ask Beast Boy how he's doing. Cy tells you not to worry about it and that you'd do the same for him, while Beast Boy tells you that he'll be ready to go tomorrow.

Wishing them a goodnight, you head for the medical wing, where you find Rose and Starfire sound asleep, along with Robin, who is sitting in a bedside chair, passed out and holding Starfire's hand.

You leave them be, and return to your room, settling into bed for a well-deserved night of sleep.

I hope the trend of Cyborg finishing fights by absolutely punching the shit out of someone continues.

I think with him being not being particularly durable, but extremely hard to actually hit, the Psimon fight was a good change-of-pace from the other encounters with villains so far.

After the day you had, the few hours of sleep you manage to get feel like a complete godsend. You have a nice, dreamless sleep that helps your body and mind to recover from the strenuous activities of the previous day, the comfort of your bed and blankets akin to that of floating on a warm cloud. Morning comes all-too-soon, but with it comes a feeling of renewal, your body and mind no longer aching as they did last night. You feel a tad groggy, sure, but that will pass.

Climbing out of bed, you take a quick shower, get dressed, and make your way to the living room, where you find a few of the others already awake.

Marissa and Linus are standing together near the table in front of the sofa, while Raven sits at one of the dinner tables, book in hand. You notice that every few seconds she looks up from it and over at the two guests. When they see you enter the room, Linus and Marissa seem to relax their posture just a bit.

They're both decked out in their HIVE armor, but neither has a weapon drawn, at least. Though, in the case of Linus, he doesn't need a weapon to do serious damage. He has powers just like yours, after all.

Snoring is the sound that alerts you to Beast Boy's presence, and you find him passed out on the sofa, remote on the table in front of him (probably put there by Cyborg). If you had to hazard a guess, you'd say Robin is still watching over Starfire, and Troia is either doing the same or training. It looks like this is your party.

"Morning," Linus greets as you make your way through the room.

Marissa doesn't say anything to you, just giving a nod as you come over.

"Can I get you two some breakfast?" you offer.

Marissa begins to decline, but then relents. "I could eat."

"Me, too," Linus tells you. "Thanks."

Strolling back into the kitchen, you put together a simple breakfast of eggs and bacon. Beast Boy's still asleep, and Raven has her herbal tea, so you don't offer either of them anything at the moment, just making enough for you, your friend, and your sister.

"Thanks," Marissa says quietly, taking off her helmet to eat.

You take a seat as she and Linus dig into the meal you've provided, and you're pleased to see that they seem to be enjoying it. Hopefully that's something of an indicator of how smoothly things will run with the two of them.

"Did you two sleep alright?" you ask.

"I've slept better," Marissa answers, putting down her fork. "But I slept better than I expected, so that's nice."

"Nothing wrong with the room," Linus assures you. "But staying here of all places was....well, not something that got us very relaxed."

"So, you have questions," Marissa says, abandoning her food for the moment. "So shoot. What do you want to know?"

man I feel like a jerk for wanting all of the above if at all possible. Like we need to have two conversations here. The typical one where we ask for info about blood and what their plans are now that they aren't working with him, and then another conversation about, pretty much anything about Sam that Marissa wants to talk about, if anything. Just general, hey how do you want to go about sorting this whole mess?

maybe

H. "What are you willing to tell me about Blood? What had the three of us working for him in the first place?"

Cuz like I feel it's kinda rude to just demand information on his plan or his base, but if they're willing to give it I'd really appreciate it.

There's a million questions you want to ask them, but after they put their lives on the line to help you out yesterday, you figure that you owe them something. Keeping them out of jail is a nice start, but a little extra couldn't hurt, and you're guessing they have things they want to know as well.

"You guys put your trust in me," you say to them after deliberating for just a moment. "Maybe I should answer your questions first."

Linus and Marissa look at each other, then back at you.

"Alright, here's the big one," Marissa starts before Linus has a chance to say anything. "What is your deal exactly? You go by Peter now, I get that. You're a Teen Titan now, which honestly still doesn't seem real, but I get that. You lost your memories but are getting some of them back, I get that. But, I mean, are you still...you? You don't work for Blood anymore. Fine, if you're right about what you told us, I don't blame you. But, I mean, are you...sheesh, how do I even ask this?"

"Well, while you figure that out, I'll-" Linus starts before he's cut off.

"I'll figure it out," she tells him warningly, shooting a glare that shuts Linus right up. "Okay, so, like....you don't remember much, but what does that mean? Does that mean you're not Sam at all anymore? Does that mean you're not my brother, or are we still family even if you're different than you were before? All the stuff you learned back at the HIVE, like blasters and such, you still use that well, but what....who are you?"

Okay, that's a tough one.

>A. "I'm still technically the same person, but not really. I'm not the same person you knew anymore, but I'm still your brother. And Linus, I'm still your friend."

>B. "To be honest, I don't really know. The more that I keep remembering, or the more times I see the two of you, or the time I saw mom, I just get more and more confused."

>C. "I'm not Sam anymore, Marissa. I'm sorry, but your brother's gone. I can be your friend, but that's all."

>D. "Uh....any chance we could start with another question?"

There's a lot of other stuff left unsaid. Peter's fear of losing himself if he unearths Samuel, what scant memories he has recovered, his thought process through his decisions, how much uncertainty he feels about it, etc... but if they agree to try and make this work, we'll have plenty of time for that.

"I'm not really sure. I want to be your brother, and I want to be Linus's friend, and I want to meet mom, but I also really like my new friends and life as a Teen Titan. I don't have anything aginst Sam, or becoming Sam again, for lack of a better way to put it, but I don't want to stop being Peter either."

Like, how much of Sam is contradictory to Peter now that working for blood and the Hive isn't part of his life regardless? I don't think Peter would mind too much trying to reconnect with his family and friends from his past life, but only to the point where they don't cause him to end his current life.

I'm not good at this kinda stuff though.

"It's complicated," you tell her, realizing what an understatement that is as you prepare to go into greater detail. "Sam found out about Blood's plans, or at least enough of them that he was scared enough to run. Samuel was too valuable for Blood to let go, but he couldn't remove the memory that made Sam betray him, so he decided to suppress everything, and recruit the leftovers from scratch as Peter. Kid Flash and Jinx Showed up, and I decided to go with them."

"So...you're not Sam, then," Marissa says miserably.

"No, I'm not Sam, not entirely," you tell her. "I do and don't have Sam's memories. All the implicit memories, muscle memory, skills, general knowledge...emotional connections...those are all still there, though I don't always realize they are. Explicit memories, the context to them, they're buried deep. I've recovered a few, but only by happenstance or a long, painful process."

Marissa motions for you to continue, looking a little bit less depressed, thankfully. Linus keeps his expression neutral, so you aren't entirely sure how he's taking all of this. But, you're sure you'll find out.

"So, when I say I'm not Samuel, it's not because I'm rejecting you or my past," you try to explain. "It's because without those memories, I *can't* be Samuel. I'd be lying to you and myself, which would just cause all of us more pain. One day, I might have all of Sam's memories, but even then, I'll also be Peter."

You sigh, not liking what you're saying all that much. The situation still isn't completely clear to you, and it's certainly hard for you, who barely remembers these two people that were once so close to you. For them, who remember you perfectly as you were, this has to be even worse.

"Marissa, Linu-Simon. I inherited Sam's feelings for you guys," you say to them. "I want to be your brother, Marissa, and I want to be your friend, Simon, but I think it's going to be slow, and it's going to be difficult, and even then, I don't want to give up being Peter. And Peter...Peter wants to get to know you. I want to give it a try, if you're willing."

Marissa doesn't say anything. She looks saddened, confused, conflicted, like she's desperately trying to get a handle on this whole situation, and whether or not she wants to try things your way. Simon, however, speaks shortly after.

"You've been good to us, and honest too," he tells you. "So, even if you've changed, you're still close enough to the Sam we knew that I'd be willing to give this a try. You might not have all of your old memories, but your heart hasn't changed. I'm in."

"W-wuss," Marissa tells Simon with a sniffle. "But yeah, I guess that wouldn't be so bad. I lost my brother once, I don't want to just lose you again. I'll give this a try."

I hope in the end/later parts of this quest we have the climax choice of either embracing our old memories and our old personality as Samuel or staying as Peter. It would be a really though decision
>>
>>2421819
Taking aspects of both would be possible as well
>>
>>2421819
That sort of dillema would be tough to craft in a way that didn't feel artificial, and that would also be air tight enough that we WOULD have to choose one or the other instead of taking a third route.

Getting up, you walk around the table, and pull the two of them into a hug. You aren't sure if Sam would have done that, but Peter can be a bit of a softy, and they have no issue hugging you back. The three of you stay like that for a little bit before you back up and go back to your seat.

"Do you have any more questions?" you ask them.

"Yeah, I got one," Simon tells you. "What's it like with the Titans? I mean, we've been trained to fight them as enemies for years, so seeing you as one of them is just bizarre. I'm kind of curious what the other side is like."

"It's not always easy," you admit. "But I'm glad to be part of the team. They're good people. I know they're kind of way right now, but maybe you'll get to know them."

Neither of them respond to that.

"That reminds me, what was life like back in the HIVE?" you ask. "I know that we all worked together, but that's about it."

"Well..." Simon says, scratching the back of his head. "That's not really easy to answer."

Marissa nods. "We lived there for a really long time, and things changed as we got older. Like, first we would have classes where we'd learn to read, write, do math, that kind of thing, and we'd spend the rest of the time playing together in the kid's areas. Then we started with combat training, and weapons not long after that, then combat scenarios and courses, intensified training regiments, wilderness survival tests, learning to interrogate....and when we weren't busy with that stuff, we'd usually hang out. There were arcades, libraries, a swimming pool, a basketball court, all kinds of things we could do in our off-time."

"It was usually pretty nice," Simon tells you. "Nice warm beds, at least three meals a day, learning how to take care of ourselves, being protected....I was happy, especially once I started hanging out with you two."

"We were like five when that started," Marissa tells him. "Can you even remember anything before that?"

"Yeah," he answers, his mood dampening just a bit. "Anyway, it was a lot of work, but we had plenty of off-time to do what we wanted."

>>
>>2421935
>>2421945
"Is that why we were loyal to Blood?" you ask. "Because we liked living there?"

"It's a little more than that, Peter," Simon tells you. "I was a homeless orphan before Blood took me in and gave me a home. Him and the HIVE practically raised me. I was like three and wandering the streets, and would have died within days if he hadn't found me."

"It was similar with us," Marissa tells you. "We were about two years old. Our dad died, and we lost everything. Mom was trying to take care for two infant kids without a home or any money. Blood gave us a chance at an actual future. We got a roof over our heads, food every day, an education, and learned to fend for ourselves. Why wouldn't we be loyal to somebody when they gave us all that?"

"Summoning an inter-dimensional demon that's conquered millions of worlds comes to mind," Simon mutters.

That kind of might explain why you ran from Blood rather than trying to fight him. Maybe you were still loyal enough not to want to hurt him. Or, maybe you just feared him.

"So, what's the deal with Paul and Ryan?" you ask.

"Paul's a psychopath," Simon tells you. "Ryan....he's just...well, I guess you'd call him a good soldier. He's loyal to a fault and follows orders whether he likes them or not. He didn't spend nearly as much time just hanging out or having fun as we did, but he was definitely someone I'd considered a friend. That's why I'm glad Marissa just knocked him out."

"Please, if I was going to stab anybody, it was going to be Paul," Marissa remarks.

Marissa snorts. "By being the best. How else? We just kept performing better and better, showing up anyone we were put up against, until we were at the top, and Blood was ready to offer us his "great honor". He gave you powers, but you ran off. Simon seemed to turn out better with it, and Blood trained him to use them. Ryan was next in line, and I was right after him. But, it looks like Paul's going to be taking my spot."

"You're dangerous enough without psychic powers," Simon mumbles. "The last thing I need is for you to keep me in place with your mind while you go nuts with those blades."

"Shut up, dummy," she tells him. "Why would I ever do that to you?"

In retrospect, I don't think we handled Snowflame + the hostages the right way, but besides that I'm pretty happy with how things went given the difficult circumstances. I mean, obviously I'm not glad that Star and Rose are hurt, but I think we did about as well as we could reasonably expect with our imperfect knowledge. Getting Simon and Marissa away from Blood's clutches feels like a significant reward too, so it's not like Peter went through Hell for nothing.

Thanks. That's one thing I wanted to make sure of. Some of the other quests I've seen seem to have the MC come by victories and rewards too easily (Machpunch's MC getting Blackfire to fall hopelessly in love with him in three days, and becoming top dog in the HIVE in that same timeframe, for example). I wanted to make this MC someone who has to work and suffer, and even then not always get everything to wrap up perfectly, but at the same time not have him endlessly suffer with no reprieve.
>>
>>2422240
>>2422252
I was thinking the same thing. MoG, do all of them. I'll just vote for the one I want to do first.

Re: Control Freak, an idea that springs to mind: Befriend him, and he uses his remote to let Peter (and one or more of the Titans) take a much needed vacation in a movie setting. And because movies are only a few hours long at most and Control Freak's powers are absolute bullshit, we get back the same day.

>>2422258
I think you're doing that pretty well. Peter's stamina issues are frustrating, but given how short the time frame is, I appreciate the integrity of keeping it in place.

To-Do list in the present though:
1. Make arrangements for Marissa and Linus. As a player I don't want them staying in the tower. That unbalances the story too heavily towards them and away from the Titans.

2. Make contact with Mom-muel. Hopefully she can link up with Marissa and Linus. Maybe Rose can help, she has independant safe houses and such.

3. Ask Raven to join us for another deep dive in our dream. If Blood is to believed, what Samuel saw was not the whole plan, but when we last went in there we only got a small taste. Raven can give us the stability we need and provide context for what we end up seeing.

4. Start forming a strategy for taking down the Blockbusters, the Burning Blizzard and the escaped Villains.
>>
>>2422266
1. Don't worry, they don't want to stay at the tower.

2. Good idea

3. Blood meant that even at the time, you didn't understand what he was doing. Samuel panicked and ran based on incomplete information

4. That's gonna be tough, but good luck.
>>
>>2422240
>Control Freak has been downgraded to a 'downtime activity'
Aw, that's cruel MoG. The other villains are gonna laugh at him now.
>>
>>2422273
He can be a genuine threat, but he can also provide relatively light and silly encounters.
>>
>>2422269
3. My understanding is that Samuel didn't get a full picture of Blood's Plan, but in addition to that, Peter didn't get a full picture of what Samuel saw either because Raven freaked out and the whole thing fell in on itself. The idea of revisiting is to see everything Samuel saw, without omission, and with Raven present she can interpret the things he saw. If we did indeed see everything he saw, then yeah, we don't need to do that.

Also, I prefer Pool to Beach. Easier to make food poolside, because less sand. Though given we have both on the island, both is fine.

Re: Control Freak, I would absolutely enjoy having him be a recurring nuisance, using his limitless power to let us play out some cartoon cliches for fun. The idea of Peter eventually sort of befriending him would be nice too.
>>
>>2422278
Fair enough.

>Less sand

Anakin, get over it.

Control Freak doing that kind of thing could be fun.
>>
>>2422284
For clarification, which is it? Did Peter and Raven see everything Sam saw, or not?

Also, look, I had a bad experience involving a beach picnic once.

I'm now imagining Control Freak semi-reforming (semi because I suspect he'd be kind of clumsy about it) through a budding friendship with Pete, but getting the Titans into (mostly harmless) shenanigans anyway. If Puppetking doesn't pull another body swap episode, Control Freak can literally do a Freaky Friday.
>>
>>2422298
At that moment, yeah, but obviously more happened after that
>>
So I just got caught up on this and man I wished I have it a look sooner! Have a couple stray thoughts.

First off we should make a habit of having a spare mask when we're out an about. An idea I had when reading the costume threads was a casual hooded jacket with a pull-down mask for if we got caught at the arcade or saw something when out on the town.

Second is that while the slides are awesome we could also really incorporate telepathic punches a lot better. Our default seems to be "hit them in the face" even though everything we fight had an iron jaw. We should try mixing them in with feints or having them go just a bit ahead of where we're punching.

Third of that damn we need to work on all things stamina. We have a decent kit and solid ability but we just burn out way too fast.
>>
>>2422705
Psypunches, well we can do things like dual opposite hits on the head (maximizes the chance of KO since it really rattles your noggin cage), or feints like you said. Or even do a double punch (a bit ahead like you said), or a shifted punch (psypunch just slightly offset from a physical punch).

I like the emergency costume idea.
>>
>>2422938
Yea that's what I'm saying. We can come from so many different angles and do so many things with it and it seems to always go to a punch to the face or gut. Hell we could go heavy in a grapple style and be able to hit with some solid strikes to joints to help disable further.

I do like the costume we have but I was hoping the votes for more casual stuff would have won out. With our kit we could just blend into a group of bystanders or hostages and thrash someone without them ever knowing.

>>2422938
>>2422960
I like your costume idea

A red zip up hoodie with a drop down mask could also conceal a built in holster for a blaster.
>>
...That said, why maintain a secret identity? Only Robin does. We don't have a civilian life or identity. Any other arguements are already handwaved by the cartoon never giving the other Titans problems for doing civilian things in costume (like going out for pizza).
>>
>>2423421

It doesn't matter much now because we're fairly unknown. We can't pull the same thing with the guard at the containment unit once we're more well known.

My thoughts on a possible KC Costume 2.0

Use Blood's outfit as inspiration. For the black body suit, a dancer's unitard (Robin doesn't get to be the only one with a poppin' ass). A utility belt which he wears high on his waist so it can be covered by his red hoodie, something understated, maybe silver to match Blood's scheme. The utility belt includes a back holster for his blaster (which should be retooled by Cyborg for concealability and power). Finally, I found these cool kung fu shoes on amazon that have a sneaker tread.

We can go maskless, since again, we don't have a civilian identity, civilian family or friends, and the setting is forgiving about dual identities, since 4/5 of the TItans (5/6 with Donna) don't conceal their appearance at all.

Other options include: Hood up, Domino Mask, original flavor KC mask.

I think this does a good job of blending the Blood aesthetic, our HIVE inspired gear, maximizes the pop of our color scheme and full freedom of movement for our psychic kung-fu.

>>
>>2423898
Having the hoodie at the top and only the unitard for the bottom feels unbalanced to me, but I don't know what would go well that wouldn't cover the unitard, and I kind of like that design so I don't want to conceal it.

I'd recommend a domino mask hood up combo, because it sounds cool to me.

If the shoes don't have laces, how do we ensure they stay on our feet?
>>
>>2424072
The outfit is intentionally top heavy, with all that heavyiness coming from the one source of red in the costume. I think it could look dope but I am not an artist so I can't really demonstrate it for you. The shoes are stretchy. It works for martial artists.

>Strategy for Jump City 1/2

So this is my idea on how we can deal with Jump City's problems. KC is not a grand strategist however, so this makes more sense as a plan that Robin would put forward than one that Peter does.

There are currently four threats to Jump City: Brother Blood, The Escaped Villains, The Blockbusters, and The Burning Blizzard. Our best strategy is, in my mind, 'contain and conquer'. This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint, so its important to pace ourselves. We'll need to both explicitly delineate responsibilities and also maintain flexibility.

1. Brother Blood: We previously had indication that we have some time before his plan comes to fruition, and the timeline has been further pushed back due to Peter's defection, and now Linus and Marissa's defection. We don't know in what capacity our Mother serves Blood, but getting her to defect certainly won't help him. Our primary goal is information gathering and defenses.

2. Escaped Villains: Because they are numerous and do not work together, it is in our best interest to not divert resources into catching them, beyond responding to any attacks they make. More on response later.

3. The Blockbusters: The biggest and most immediate headache. Crime families require a lot of effort to disentrench. We should work hand in hand with the police, letting them find and point out soft targets for us, and send purpose-built teams to deal with the problem. The first big step in beating them will be getting rid of their heavies, Bane, Ravager, and Cheshire. Fortunately, all three of them are mercenaries, not ideologues, and could potentially be persuaded to abandon Blockbuster. The funniest way of doing so would be freezing all of Blockbuster's assets so he can't pay them, but other than Cyborg, I don't know if that's possible.

4. The Burning Blizzard: Fortunately, Jump City is in California, which has just legalized marijuana. Readily available legal weed will reduce demand of cocaine. While Snowflame is a zealot, he's got a strong handle on business, so he'll move on Utah, who desperately needs the gift of his God's touch.

(Bonus) Slade: He's around and that's never good.
>>
>>2424122
>Strategy for Jump City 2/2

Everyone has a role to play here:

Team Blood
Raven (Team Leader): She's already researching defenses against Trigon and can help KC look through memories for other insights into Blood. She's also the fastest and most reliable way to get heroes deployed where they need to be. She's tower bound, except when delivering people to the field.

Kid Crimson: As powerful as he could be, with the escalating danger in Jump City, he should be benched while he works on his stamina issues. In the meantime he can continue searching his memory for clues, act as a bridge to the HIVE defectors, and act as the secondary rapid deployment specialist.

Linus, Marissa, Mom-muel: They know HIVE as well as anyone. They are consultants on Team Blood.

Team Blockbuster
Robin (Team Leader): His usual duties of coordinating absolutely everything going on are especially helpful here in pouring over police info, along with his detective skills and his experience with the way Bane thinks.

Beastboy: An excellent infiltrator, he'll be an asset to gathering info on the Blockbusters and probing them for weaknesses.

Troia: Fast and strong enough to deal with sudden appearances of the Mercs, and her lasso is extremely valuable for information gathering.

Rapid Response
This team is about dealing with the day to day supervillainy and quickly provide support to any team that finds itself needing backup. They'll be the ones most directly dealing with the escaped convicts

Cyborg (Team Leader): He's here mostly because this team needs a leader and Cyborg is leadership material. He also adds some utility to a combat heavy team.

Rose: We don't know how long she's going to stick around, but this is where she fits in best. Also doubles as a Tactical Consultant.

Starfire: Strong and doesn't need Raven or Peter to get her around quickly, she's the most flexible in the role of Rapid Response.

Other Allies: What we need is people who currently have too many responsibilities, and who can respond quickly. Thunder and Lightning are obvious picks, but anyone else who fits the description would be great.

Team Burning Blizzard
Weed: Good job Weed!

Others: I suppose you could fold this task force with the Blockbuster task force.

To be clear, these roles aren't iron clad, flexibility will doubtlessly be required, but I think this set up gives us a good groundwork for success.

>>2424072
Also additional thoughts on the costume: I figure when KC is walking around he has the hoodie zipped up, covering his utility belt and blaster. When its combat time, he may unzip it which gives him quicker access to his gear, and shows off the full outfit. By having it unzipped, the hoodie can move and flutter as he fights, which I think is a cool look.

I'm down with the idea of a domino mask, though I think hood up/hood down is basically a matter of whatever is coolest at the moment.

I like that. Though arguably we can find out Sam's birthday and the day Peter eas rescued. Making it an arbitrary day for the sake of celebration is absolutely something Beastboy would do.

As for tonight's (?) session, two things I want to do is 1. Ask Marissa and Linus that Sam was like. 2. Thank Cyborg. He was the most against Marissa and Linus but he put his trust in us, and that was a stand up thing for him to do.

That's what happens when you get raised in a cult.

Oh wow got it live

Marissa and Simon share a look.

"We can't tell you that," Marissa says to you.

That doesn't make any sense to you. There's really no reason to defend any of Blood's secrets at this point, they're already in deep crap with him. Really, it's not like they can make things worse at this point on that front. So why would they bother?

"It moves around," Simon clarifies, kind of rendering all of your thoughts pointless. "It's able to submerge itself into the ground and travel below the surface. It has a force-field to keep it from getting damaged while burrowing."

"It gets moved most days," Marissa adds. "It's never in a single spot for any longer than three days under any circumstances."

"If it moves while agents are out, Blood sends them new coordinates," Simon adds. "But I doubt Blood's going to be sending any our way, and he's probably already moved it if he found out about us deserting. All we can really tell you is that it's probably somewhere in the desert outside of Jump City."

That at least gives you a vague idea of where to look, so you're grateful for that. Still, a more specific location would have been vastly preferable. Oh well.

"You should also know that it has a dangerous security system, a large number of armed, well-trained guards, and various other agents and creatures that work for Blood," Simon adds.

"And no offense, but even if you could get to Blood, he'd crush you like an ant," Marissa tells you. "I doubt even your whole team would last more than a minute or two."

"That helps a lot," you tell them. "Thank you."

Marissa shrugs. "Whatever. Anything else?"

"Yeah, actually," you reply after thinking for a moment. You have another question, and your twin sister is probably the best person to ask it. "Can you tell me about mom?"

She seems completely blindsided by that question, not able to form words for a short while. Instead, she just kind of sits there and tries to work through it. It's an odd question, to be sure, and a very odd situation to have to explain to your sibling about their own mother whom they seem to have largely forgotten.

"Mom....she's...." Marissa begins, trying to get her words right. "She's awesome. Seriously, she's always looked out for us, spent as much time as she could with us, and worked hard to make sure we succeeded. She helped us train, read stories to us, took care of us whenever we were sick, you know, mom stuff."

Well, most of those sound like "mom stuff", though you aren't sure how many moms help their kids train for combat in a demon-worshiping cult. Not many, you'd wager. Still, what Marissa's telling you seems a little bare-bones. But, you can always get in contact with your mother if you want.

"You two," you address, changing the subject. "What are you going to do?"

"Probably leave town and find a place to lie low for a while," Simon answers, leaning back. "We can deal with almost anyone Blood would send after us, and if we're not in Jump City, he's going to spend a lot less time focusing on us while he's fighting you and the Titans, sorry to say. That's why I told you to get out of town before, buy yourself some time."

Marissa scowls. "I don't like running and hiding, but we wouldn't stand a chance against Blood, and honestly, I'm not sure that your team's going to be able to stop him, either."

She glances at Simon. "So, we've got some thinking to do."

Simon nods in agreement. "We're going to have to decide if we want to fight Blood, or just try and enjoy what time we have left until Blood destroys everything. Either way, it'll be easier to think about somewhere else."

Something suddenly seems to click in your mind. The way those two are with each-other, how they talk, how they physically interact, even how they look at each-other, it's almost as if...

"Wait...are you two dating?" you ask.

"Something like that," Marissa answers with a smirk. "Guess you didn't remember that part. Kind of figured you'd guess when we decided to share a room, but whatever."

She seems a little too amused by this.

Simon rolls his eyes at Marissa, but he can't hide the smile on his face. You aren't really sure why, but he seems completely smitten, now that you look. Guess you know which of them wears the pants in their relationship. Or, wait, Simon was leader of the team with you gone, but Marissa seems to scare him. Okay, maybe you don't know who wears the pants.

"Yeah, we're together," Simon tells you. "Been that way since a little while before you left."

If that's true, evidently you were okay with it back then. So you're guessing that they're good to each-other. That's good to know.

"Good luck," you wish them, not knowing what else to say. "Both of you. Keep in contact, alright?"

"No promises," Marissa replies, though her tone is teasing. You're pretty sure you'll be hearing from her.

"Of course," Simon tells you. "And you do the same."

This is it, then. They're going to be on their way, and you don't know when you'll see them again. Really, you don't even know if you'll see them again. There's a million different bad twists life could take for any of you that'll prevent a happy reunion. But, this also gives you one more reason to fight and win, and you don't intend to forget it. Hopefully they'll decide to help you at some point, and Blood will go down for good. Or, maybe they'll keep out of harm's way until Blood has been dealt with. Either way, you hope they'll be safe, and that you'll all meet again.

Moving around the counter, you hug your sister, who tightly hugs you back. It's sad, you've just reconciled, pretty much just acknowledged her as family again, and now you have to part ways, possibly for good. That thought makes you hug her a little tighter (Peter really can be a softy). Then, you walk over and hug your friend. Part of you really wishes you remembered him better. He was your best friend in the old days, and even now stuck his neck out to help you more than once, trusted you even when it put him at serious risk, and never lost faith in you. Even as Peter, you see him as a good guy, and a good friend.

"Goodbye," you tell the two of them, hoping it won't be a permanent separation.

The two wish you well and take their leave, saying awkward goodbyes to Raven as they move out of the room. Beast Boy continues to obliviously snore on the couch, and the others are nowhere to be seen. The room soon falls quiet, save your friend's snoring.

"Are you alright?" Raven asks after a little while.

She's set down her book and pulled down her hood, and is looking at you with what looks like genuine concern.

I'm sad to see them go, but it makes sense that they need time to think things through. Parting as friends is a far happier outcome than being forced to fight them.
>>
>>2429090
>>2429095
"I'm honestly sad to see them go," you admit. "But I'll be fine."

You will be, you know it. Saying goodbye on good terms with them is far better than some of the other outcomes, like having to fight them as enemies, or watching them die as a result of Blood's machinations. Hopefully, when this is all over, you'll see them again.

"What's your take?" you ask her.

"What?" she asks for clarification.

"What are your thoughts about the two of them?" you ask her.

"They're messed up people," Raven tells you bluntly. "They were blindly following a madman out of a sense of loyalty brought about from being raised from childhood in a cult. They only hesitated when it came to hurting you, and were fine with destroying the Teen Titans and who-knows what else until they found out about just how insane Blood's plans are."

She sighs before saying the next part, looking as if it's hard for her to say. "But, they're not all-bad. They were willing to throw away everything to help you, and showed that there were lines they wouldn't cross. I wouldn't call them good people, but they aren't rotten to the core, either, and they definitely care about you. As someone with major family issues, I'd say the situation with your sister could be a lot worse. At least your dad's not a demon bent on inter-dimensional conquest, and your sister isn't trying to kill you by whatever despicable means necessary. And...I guess I can't be too harsh on them for being loyal to Blood until now. That's really all they ever knew."

>>A. "Yeah, they're messed up, but people can change, right?"

>>B. "They've had a checkered past, but if I can learn to be better, so can they."

"Their situation's a little different," Raven points out. "But....it's never too late to change. You may be right."

Telling Raven that you'll talk to her later, you decide to go and look for Cyborg, first checking his room and finding no sign, then the garage and finding nothing, before finally heading to the training room, where you find him lifting several massive weights. At least someone is getting their daily exercise.

Cyborg looks toward you, and, realizing that you didn't come to train, deactivates the machine and makes his way over to talk.

"Me too," you agree. "And, the told me how to find Blood."

"Yeah," you tell him. "Somewhere in the desert outside of the city. They said the base was able to move underground."

"An underground base right outside our city?" Cyborg repeats in disbelief. "That's pretty sloppy, Blood. With the right seismic sensors, we should be able to track that thing down in no time. Once everyone's back on their feet, we can get in there and take Blood down!"

It looks like you just made his day. He doesn't look like he could be more excited if he tried at this point, though that kind of makes you worry that me might not be able to wait until everyone else wakes back up to go after Blood. If there's anybody who hates that guy more than you do, it would be Cyborg. You'd love to get right in there and take Blood down yourself, but Marissa warned you that even at the team's full strength, you'll have your work cut out for you.

"Now I'm really glad I let you do things your way," Cyborg tells you, as eager as a little kid in a candy store. Then, his expression becomes more calm, more serious. "Listen, Peter. When we finally deal with Blood....well, I don't think locking him in a prison is going to cut it."

"I'd rather take him alive," you tell Cyborg. "But I'll do what I have to do."

Cyborg frowns. "Peter, we already took him alive once. I took his arms, and we locked him in a maximum security prison. Now he's back and getting ready to do God-knows-what by summoning Trigon! We need to take him down for good!"

"But, there might be alternatives," you insist. "If there were some way to rob him of his powers, he'd be a containable threat. I don't have anything concrete, but...if he was able to suppress Samuel to create a new person, maybe something could be done using the same principal."

That doesn't seem to help.

"So basically you're saying that we should hold back because of some "mights" and "maybes", with no real idea of how to actually accomplish any of them," Cyborg sums up, sounding angrier. "And even if we could do what he did to you, guess what? Samuel isn't gone! His skills, his memories, even his personality are still locked in there, and you've already managed to dig some of them out. Do you really think Blood won't do the exact same thing, even faster than you have? And even if it's possibly that he won't, why give him the chance? He's a maniac who brainwashes and indoctrinates whoever he can, who hacked my systems and tried to kill millions of people with my own technology, who tried to force deadly surgery on my friends, who took away your memories and tried to make you into a puppet from scratch, and is trying to summon a freaking demon that's conquered millions of worlds! Why would we ever give him another chance?!"

His anger seems to rise with every word, and you feel yourself grow more and more uncomfortable, maybe even a little scared. Cyborg is not a pleasant sight when he's this furious.

"Is everything alright?" a friend's voice asks from behind you.

Turning, you find Troia standing in the doorway, arms crossed and a hard look on her face, the kind that says "I don't know what this is, but you'd better finish it before I do".

"Yeah," Cyborg tells her angrily and utterly unconvincingly. "I was just leaving."

"Basically, I said that if I had to, I'd kill Blood, but that I'd rather explore all of the other options first," you explain to her. "He got angry at that."

That stern look on her face fades somewhat. "I see. That explains why he was so emotional. I only heard some of what he was saying, but I definitely see where he's coming from. And, I personally agree that Blood should be slain if possible."

You aren't entirely sure how to respond to that.

"I understand where you're coming from, too," she assures you. "You don't like to take life unnecessarily. That speaks highly of your heart and moral compass. However, there are some foes who should not be shown mercy, whose deaths could save the lives of many. Blood has proven to be that kind of man, and while you say you will kill him if you must, I can see why Cyborg would be frustrated with you suggesting testing all other options first. If the decision were placed in my hands, I would end Blood's threat permanently."

She shrugs. "But, we are not all alike in that way. Robin and Starfire abhor killing, which I find strange, especially in Starfire's case, considering she comes from a planet of warriors with no qualms about killing foes. Anyway, Cyborg understands this as well. I'm sure it's just because of who we're dealing with that he lost it like that. You two will make up."

You're confident about that as well. And, you're kind of tired of this topic, so you decide to ask Donna something you actually want to know right now.

"Do you know how the others are doing?" you question.

"Starfire and Rose are still unconscious, but Robin says they should wake up within the next few hours," she answers. "I'm not sure how accurate that prediction is, though, I don't think he slept last night, and that tends to impair thinking."

She does smile, despite her worry. "I don't think he's left Starfire's side since he got out of the hospital bed."

MoG, I don't know what your ultimate plans are with all the stuff going on in Jump City, but one thing I hope we avoid is Peter being thrust into a leadership role. I'm fine with him finding himself needing to make decisions here and there (like how to handle the interrogation), but the sort of big picture strategy that tackling our current problems shouldn't fall to him.

I wrote up the strategy posts above, and one thing I want to bring up again is the idea that Robin might partly bench Peter so he has the opportunity to work on his powers without having to fear entering the field weakened. While Peter probably wouldn't be thrilled, I think it would make for good roleplay opportunities.

You know, after thinking about it, I do hope Peter manages to find some way to contain Brother Blood instead of killing him. I had time today to check the archive and make sure that Peter knows that Slade has been resurrected by Trigon before. Given that precedent, I don't think that Cyborg and Donna should be so confident that even Brother Blood's death will be the end of him.

At-Friend's-House Leader standing by.
>>
Arriving at the medical wing, you find things pretty much as Troia described them. Rose and Starfire are still both lying in their beds, eyes closed as if in a deep sleep, which you suppose is somewhat accurate. Hopefully they'll be waking up soon. With things as bad as they are, having two allies down is a serious disadvantage. And, of course, you want your friends to get better and come back to the waking world. The tower's less pleasant without Starfire around spreading cheer, and someone as tough as Rose lying helplessly in a sleep from which she can't wake just seems unnatural and frankly, kind of disturbing.

Robin's still there, and he looks terrible. Troia was probably right; it doesn't look like he got a moment of sleep last night. His insistence on staying awake and by Starfire's side is certainly sweet, but your leader depriving himself of sleep to such an extreme, especially when he was badly injured on top of it, worries you. All of the Titans are capable, but Robin's the one that guides the team, and he can't do that well if he doesn't take basic care of himself.

"Hey," he greets, his voice reeking of exhaustion. "How'd things go with Minus and Larissa?"

"They're leaving town," you answer, deciding to ignore the fact that he got their names wrong. "And they gave me a lot of information before they left. We know how to find Blood's base, and have some idea about its security."

"That's great news," Robin tells you, offering a tired smile. "Once everyone's back in fighting shape, we can..."

He lets out a yawn. "We can track Blood down."

"How are the girls?" you ask, taking a seat in one of the chairs beside Rose's bed.

"They'll be fine," Robin promises. "They should be waking up any time, now.

"Well, you need to get some sleep," you inform him, leaning back in the chair.

"I'm fine," Robin promises, but not without yawning half-way through that statement. It's beginning to look like he'll be asleep soon whether he wants to or not.

Time passes after that in relative silence, which only grows more pronounced as Robin does indeed pass out shortly after your arrival. You look over to find him sleeping with his head on Starfire's bed, still holding her hand. That doesn't last very long, however, as Starfire's eyes soon open, and she sits up in her bed, yawning loudly and looking around. She stops when she sees Rose lying in bed, concern washing over her pretty face.

"Friend Rose, is she alright?" Starfire asks, looking to you.

"She got hurt pretty badly," you answer. "But, she'll pull through. Robin says she should be waking up soon. But, how are you? I heard things got pretty rough out there."

"I am...okay," Starfire answers after a moment of thought. "Mostly, I am feeling hunger and thirst. I suppose I have not eaten since...how long has it been?"

"You've been asleep for about a day and a half," you inform her.

"That would explain it," Starfire concludes before looking down to her side, where Robin is still sound asleep.

"I'll keep an eye on Rose," you tell Starfire. "If you can, you should go put Robin to bed. He hasn't left your side since you got back."

"Robin..." Starfire whispers, staring down at the dark-haired young man.

She gets herself out of bed, effortlessly picks Robin up and cradles him in her arms, and carries him out of the medical wing, presumably taking him to his room to get some sleep. His mind should definitely be more at ease when he finds out that Starfire is doing better. You're already feeling a little better seeing her up and moving. All you need is for Rose to get up as well.

Well, she should be waking up soon. And Donna will probably want to see her when that happens. So, you pull out your communicator and let your friend know that your sleeping friend will soon be waking up (and, of course, you mention that Starfire's up as well).

"I'm going to go see Starfire real fast," Troia tells you over the communicator. "Then I'll be there."

The transmission ends, and you're left sitting in a quiet room, alone save an unconscious friend lying in a bed in front of you. You lean back in your chair and wait for either Rose to wake up, or Donna to show up, whichever comes first.

Surprisingly, neither of those happen first. You receive a visitor, but it's not Donna. Instead, a tired-looking Beast Boy steps into the room, stretching as he looks around, then walking over to take a seat next to you.

"Sup, dude?" he asks. "I just ran into Star, she said Rose should be waking up soon."

He looks at Rose for a second, then over at you. "So, Raven told me things went pretty well with Simon and your sister. I'm glad."

"Like I could have used a longer nap," he answers with a yawn. "But Raven told me she was tired of hearing my snoring, and that I should get up and do something....sheesh, what is she, my mom?"

The two of you make small talk for another minute or so before Troia shows up, greeting both of you before taking a seat beside Beast Boy.

And, shortly after that, Rose opens her eyes....and throws a punch up into the air, reaching for her weapons before realizing that she's not actually in a fight right now. Confusion covers her face, and she sits up, looking over to see the three of you.

"Glad to see you awake," you tell your friend, despite the fact that she seems slightly less pleased about it. "How do you feel?"

"Like an idiot," she growls, pushing herself out of bed.

She looks at you, then Beast Boy, then stops at Troia.

"What happened?" she demands.

Troia stands to speak, crossing her arms under her chest. "You lost, Rose. The other Ravager knocked you out. If Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Raven hadn't showed up, you'd probably have been sleeping for a lot longer."

Her tone is almost scolding, and Rose does not seem to appreciate it.

"Don't lecture me, Donna," she commands. "From what I remember, you weren't doing so well, either."

"You shouldn't have tried to fight him alone," Donna tells her. "But, I'm glad you're okay. You had me worried for a little while."

Rose's anger seems to subside, and she looks down at the floor. "Sorry."

She raises her head and looks at Beast Boy. "And thanks for the save."

"Any time!" he tells her with a toothy smile.

"So," Rose says, her voice a lot calmer now. "What did I miss?"

With everyone up and about again, things return to a semblance of normalcy. You share the information given to you by Marissa and Simon, and Robin declares that the search for Blood will begin as soon as the mess from the break-in at the city jail is cleaned up. The property damage was extensive, there are now dozens of highly dangerous criminals now roaming the streets, and the police department risks being overwhelmed. Robin wants to make sure the entire place won't go to Hell in a handbasket if the team decides to go after Blood.

"Everyone's off-duty for right now," Robin tells the team. "But I want you all to be ready to be called in at a moment's notice. So keep your communicators with you at all times!"

"Got it," Rose says, heading for the door. "Give me a call if something happens."

A smile comes to Beast Boy's face. "I know just the place."

>To be continued

Okay, calling it a night. As always, I'll check in on this thread if anybody has anything they want to say.

Thank you all for playing. I know this thread was brief, but I hope you had fun.

Thanks for running! I thought the Titan's did have a pool for some reason.
>>
>>2432647
I don't recall them having one.
>>
>>2432658
The Teen Titans Go version 100% has a pool. Not sure about the 2003 version.

>putting Starfire back on the list.

And I thought I was stirring the pot.
>>
>>2433017
It's like putting Silkie on there, it's meant to weed out certain people
>>
>>2433021
Hey MoG, how will this actually be settled. Will it be a poll like this, either explicitly outlined as the deciding one or not? Will it be something that just happens in game and we only realize its significance as it happens or immediately after? What's the best and most fair way to handle it?
>>
>>2432995
Voted for Rose but Donna and Raven are cool too.
>>
>>2433027
If it ever comes down to a formal vote, we need to use a ranked voting system.
>>
I think it would be unwise to lock ourselves into for example, Rose right away. Might be other opportunities out there.
>>
>>2433026
Hard to say, but I suppose we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
>>
>>2433048
I suggest we give it until we finish this arc at least.
>>
>>2433061
I'm down for Rose, but KC and Rose haven't really hung out a lot yet.
>>
>>2433061
I mean we should at least wait until we complete this arc and all the sidequests, then we can think about romance, and I really do mean think, not necessarily act right away.
>>
>>2433076
Sure, I get you. Right now its not really a level playing field. Peter has good chemistry with all the Titans (except maybe Robin, who he doesn't really get to interact with as much in a non-professional way), but he's only known Rose and Donna for a very short while. With Starfire unavailable, that leaves Raven as the one who we have the most developed relationship with.

Speaking of sidequests, anon, which ones would you like to do?
>>
>>2433067
They haven't hung out a lot but they've got a lot in common. It's rough because I like the interactions we have with most love interests. At least I won't be disappointed where the choice is made.
>>
>>2433091
Bane / Blockbuster / Ravager / Snowflame storylines, since they've already started I figure they'll be taken on soon enough. Escapees, since Robin wants to tackle it.
Perhaps something more lax if it shows up, like a guest hero or a more 'fun' villain issue.
>>
>>2433092
Agreed. I don't want Peter/Rose though. Not because I dislike their interactions (I enjoyed them), but because Rose's anger and daddy issues are unhealthy. I don't want their relationship to revolve around that, but at the same time, I would feel like downplaying or rapidly solving them would feel like a cop out. I'd be pro-Rose if the game runs long enough to give her realistic progress and Pete is still single.

Favorite moments for each Waifu go.

Donna: Her reaction to 'I want to hold you' was surprise, but she made no effort to shut him down, and the way she subsequently got heated when competing against KC's hold was pretty rar.

Raven: No single moment, though holding her hand and helping her calm down was notable. More interesting to me is that Raven is constantly dropping her facade around him. Smiling when he makes her happy, frowning when she's concerned for him. Even while they're subtle, emotional displays like this don't come easy for her, but she feels confident enough that Peter won't ever use those displays of vulnerability against her.

Rose: I like how important Peter's trust has meant to Rose. Best moments were when Peter pulled her aside after the shooting game at the arcade and when they exchanged a hug when she left the next day.

Starfire: Starfire is just great in general. My favorite moment for them was her supporting Peter after the Katarou fight, and subsequently teaching him how to use Righteous Fury.

Silkie: Silkie flawless

I mean, yes, Donna is attractive. But I what made it sexy was that she was into the competition.

Have a random Jinx.

My favorite moments are always when we catch them by surprise. Donna with the holding thing, Raven when we said we trust her with digging into our head, Rose with basically every interaction that we say we trust her in, and Star when we ate her food or asked her for help.

MoG, any plans to run tonight?

Cool.

Hey MoG, I got a question: what have some of the highlights of this game been for you? Both in-game moments and in terms of the overall experience. Moments and things that you've been proud of, or surprised by or impressed with. What you're looking most forward to doing, what you want to focus on, what you want more of, etc.

Flipside, missed opportunities, things you'd have done different, things you wish there were less of, etc.

Thanks for listening to my extremely open ended question! Oh, and for running this game. I'm having a great time.

The Katarou fight and the mind battles with Blood were a lot of fun to write. Movie night, too.

I'm glad you've been having fun
