The Raiders – Part 47

There are a great many things that you concern yourself with. Magic, sex, warfare, history, biology, psychology, and most recently metallurgy. Things that involve there being a universe to work inside, generally speaking, even if said universe might be more of an ideological construct than a physical existence. At least that's how you think of the Astral Plane, and you're experienced and learned enough to know a bit about such matters. The idea of annihilating universes is a curious one, but nothing you've gone so far as to pursue, mostly because there's so much more interest in things that require there to be one than a lack of one.

So when the temporal dragon that an unaging and far more experienced being that has offered to make you equally unaging (and therefore technically immortal if you don't get yourself killed) accuses you of attracting the attentions of forces that would much prefer there not be any universes left to play in, your first instinct is to laugh at it.

When it has a handful of arcane forces mixed with raw temporal energy and looks very intent on ensuring that the forces of unmaking not have the opportunity to recruit you then the time for laughter might not be exactly this one. Siobhan is incredulous, and quite perturbed at this turn of events, and doesn't appreciate you being threatened by a mere dragon. Fortunately she keeps this opinion to herself. Yzia, taking the form of a half-dragon humanoid herself doesn't seem much more happy about the situation than you are. Tzanzi, however, is behind you, lying upon an altar and helpless, as Skattish, the ageless and ancient elan fulfills your request to heal her entirely.

You're pretty sure Skattish didn't exactly have this in mind when she made you the offers. If she had it would have been used as a bargaining chip, or completely abandoned in favor of a more well reasoned and thought out approach. She does – as you have pointed out – have forever to wait, and has no issue with you taking your time. The enchanted labyrinth that would have given you an entirely new life glows with the power of the Elder Races, and shimmers in waves of ancient and strange power.

Soliqui, the temporal dragon that currently takes the form off a winged humanoid and is threatening you with a powerful sphere of arcane and temporal energies, gazes at you with pupilless eyes of violet flame that rise from the center of her eyes and cascade towards the edge in an infinite explosion. The self appointed guardians of history and apparently the future murmurs softly, her voice easily carrying through the cavern. We must be certain of your place in things.... she repeats, and you lay your hand on Siobhan's hilt.

[] Why should I care that the entities of destruction and the void have an interest in me?
[] Since their gaze cannot follow me personally any more than yours can, what makes you think it's not you who has called their attention here?
[] Pah, what nonsense. I don't care what you think, I don't hold any truck with them or you.
[] Seriously, threatening me is kind of futile. I have much larger concerns than a dragon who fears I might truck with daemons, asura, and qlippoth.
[] Okay, and how do you propose to become certain? Fighting me doesn't sound like much of an option.
[] Write in?
Siobhan would like to show this petty little self-appointed guardian of time and the universe who the real boss is here.

Hi XS! Did you manage to watch Mordenkainen's Mayhem, in the end?

Some of the asura are hot, IIRC, the dragon might be worried about that.
>>

>>*I* am certain of my place in things. What makes you doubt?
That's a good point, in that even in the fake reality where we did become an Elan, Akko... started fighting Illithids about as soon as it was feasible for her to do so.
>>
>>2422446
Akko is certainly secure in her life-purpose (kill Illithid and fuck hot chicks as often as possible).

And dispel checks from the quickened spell.. Note that only three dispels are being used - the extra 3 d 20 are rerolls if any fail.
>>

Don't let Yzia hear you say that anon. She might take it as a challenge.

You can still see it on the website, if you want.

It started out fun, had a few nice twists, but the ending was a bit disappointing. The first episode was better, IMO

In any case, all the monsters they've shown so far were awesome.

[XX] Why should I care that the entities of destruction and the void have an interest in me?
[X] Seriously, threatening me is kind of futile. I have much larger concerns than a dragon who fears I might truck with daemons, asura, and qlippoth.
[x] Since their gaze cannot follow me personally any more than yours can, what makes you think it's not you who has called their attention here?
[x] Okay, and how do you propose to become certain? Fighting me doesn't sound like much of an option.
[X] Write in? I enjoy existence, and it would seem to me that fighting me would be detrimental to your cause. Explain yourself perhaps, and we may learn more. I, after all, am certain of my place in the universe.

You gaze calmly at the strange dragon, and run your gauntleted fingers along Yzia's shoulder. Maintaining silence, so as not to disturb the work of the elan with such matters as might involve dragons and githyanki, you bare the tips of your spurs at Soliqui. You are being patently ridiculous. The dragoness seems a bit taken aback by your straightforward and somewhat rude assessment. The fact that I have a vested interest in the continuation of existence – even one as far flung and useless as this reality – means that fighting me is working against your own cause. I like existence and those within it. I also have a great deal more on my plate than bargaining with asura, div and qlippoth or their ilk would be useful for. The self involved interference of a singular dragon and its insistence that I am some overwhelming threat to reality at large doesn't really rate.

Siobhan cackles manically in Yzia and your minds.

Yzia is looking at you sidelong with a bit of trepidation, while Soliqui looks affronted. You gesture with a sharp slashing movement – though your hand doesn't leave Siobhan's hilt. Do not bother condemning my ignorance. Either alleviate it or leave me be; I have no patience for threats, especially from someone who neglects to consider the fact that I am no more visible to their senses any longer than I am to yours. If their attention is here, then it is not I who brought it! that startles both dragons, who apparently hadn't considered that little bit of information. In fact, it was mere happenstance and opportunity that I even investigated this place at all – unless you honestly believe that space and time can be manipulated around someone with senses as refined and potent as Yzia's.
>>
The consternation Soliqui's expression conveys is rather amusing, you have to admit, but more importantly it tells you that she hasn't been thinking things through. Yzia is flattered by your compliment but she informs you silently that she is not that capable of in the matters of space and time manipulation that she would spot such a thing happening. I am certain if someone had interfered with my teleportation spell you would have noticed – it was a random jump, hundreds of miles, to avoid the Staff of Power being broken near my warriors. It would be fairly ridiculous to assume that it was intended to bring me here....no being has that much control over causality!

Yzia replies to your private comment with a rather disturbing one of her own. The Gods might. They might even have a vested interest.

Siobhan murmurs to you and Yzia, her fondness and love filtering through every unspoken word. The deity that would choose such a self centered sybarite as my Akko to champion their cause would have to be insane or nearly as self centered and hedonistic, and I doubt such a being would bother, honestly. You thank Siobhan for the somewhat backhanded compliment, though her assessment isn't exactly on the mark. Well, as far as the deity is concerned; she was right on about you and Yzia can't help but smile, which further annoys the other dragon.

The violet and green sphere of energies and power the other dragon holds shrinks to the size of a fist, though the intensities of the energy increase in relation to that. You concentrate, letting the elder Power flow through your mind, your senses, opening them up to the powers around you, the feel, the taste and scent of magic. You feel your senses and body become more attuned to magic, and feel the raw power of it permeating everything around you as well. That you have hidden yourself from the entities who seek to control and use you is irrelevant-

You give a sharp bark of laughter, the statement so beyond ridiculous you can't help yourself. Fortunately it doesn't bring a condemnation from the elan, who seems to be entirely immersed in her work. That is EXACTLY the point! You remove your hand from Siobhan's hilt and spread your hands wide. Fighting me is a ridiculous way to attempt to stop me from serving any others – it is a momentary distraction, a casual and everyday thing to me! It proves even further that you have no idea who or what I am if you think trying to slay me will have any impact on what I am and how I live! If anything all it will do is get you killed and further your enemies designs, rather than your own!
>>
You gesture with one hand and say two words sharply and clearly, the Elder Power infused spell snuffing the sphere of energies and shattering several of her defenses. She hardly has time to blink before you draw on the arcane force and rewrite the spell into your mind, re-preparing it even before she can react. You stand tall and smirk at her, one delicate spur jutting from under your lip. All the power I have garnered and crafted is built towards one purpose: the slaying of illithidae and the furtherance of my control over magic. I am no weak willed pawn of any force beyond my understanding, least of all the nihilistic forces from beyond the pale.

She lowers her head, her glowing violet eyes shifting and changing as she considers your positioning, how she could take the fight to you or assault you without compromising her ally's safety. I know my place in all the universes. Can you say the same? What makes you doubt my will is my own, my desires are my own? Her expression falters and you grasp at the possible inroad. Who told you otherwise, Soliqui?

She snarls and vanishes, Teleporting away. Yzia glances at you. We can follow her, Akko, if that is your wish; I can see that she is in a far flung location in this universe, somewhere among the dark between planets, where there is much rock and shimmering energies; it definitely looks like a lair, at the very least, though she is the only one there.

[] Leave her be. I think I've made my point.
[] I have questions for her....let's beard her in her den.

To be fair with the time dragon, I think Akko and an Asura Upasunda would be rather interested in each other.

>[] I have questions for her....let's beard her in her den.
>>
>>2422485
It would definitely be an interesting meeting! I guess we'll have to see if her fears materialize at some point.
>>
Has Siobhan tasted dragon before? Besides Yzia of course.
>>
>>2422492
It's an interesting question, are you asking her?
>>
>>2422503
I definitely wouldn't mind asking. I'm surprised Akko doesn't know though.
>>
>>2422505
I assume that means that Akko hasn't really fought any dragons in her career as a Githyanki, which is mildly surprising since dragons are known to have nice things and pretty people, and when not fighting Illithids, Githyanki like to take nice things and pretty people.

But yeah I'd say it's worth asking
>>
>>2422505

She has a life outside of us, ya know?

Well, she had other people's lives, at least.
>>
>>2422509

Githyanki and dragons are allies, and Akko wasn't quite powerful enough to kill off mighty allies, before the start of the quest.

Plus Akko is far less greedy or sex-hungry that you think. I mean, she likes money and pretty girls, but that's secondary to just avoiding boredom.

Funnily enough, Falna was right on something: Akko, for all her intellect, training and feats, does lack ambition. To an extant, at least. She tends to want immediate perks, or to sow the seeds for later immediate perks, not to have a career plan with set goals.

Of course what's funny is that when Akko wants something, she gets it. The only reason she wasn't higher ranked before is that she never bothered to go that road.
>>
>>2422518
Well, we've only known Akko for the brief period of her life where she's just been forced outside the normal power-structure of the Githyanki and all too. Can't exactly advance her position in the traditional way, and is still working out how to get away without everyone trying to kill her and all that.
>>
>>2422476
>[X] Skattish is going to have to explain this....in detail.
>>
>>2422518
I thought it was just Solar Dragons that have an alliance with Githyanki in this quest, and not dragonkind in general?
>>
>>2422531
This is correct, which means conflicts with other dragons tend to be rare, but there are times when there are duels between githyanki and the solar dragons they are allied with; usually for treasures or matters of honor or just because one pissed off another.

>>2422509
you are correct - Akko considers dragons to be adversaries treated with extreme caution. She wasn't really strong enough to want to fight them before this point. But she trusted Yzia's assessment of the other dragon, along with her own Arcane Sight and special abilities.

[X] Leave her be. I think I've made my point.
[XX] Skattish is going to have to explain this....in detail.
[X] Write in? There are more important things here.

You seriously consider it for a hundredth turning, and then casually slash your hand diagonally. No, Yzia. We are done with her, and she may be left to her own devices, whatever they may be. If she returns it will not be by surprise if I understand the spell you have used, and I have nothing further to say to her. Moving in close to her, you run your hands down her exotic flesh and glowing scales.

Skattish may have a few things to explain, mind you, and we have more important things to deal with here, you murmur, and she arches into your touch, presenting her body for you to explore. I am looking forward to 'hearing' Tzanzi for the first time. I am half afraid it will be the sending of a childer.

Yzia's taloned hands slide down your armor, shuddering pleasantly as you apply your mouth to her breast, suckling firmly. You tease at the erect nipple, once again marveling at the completeness of the transformation as she makes a soft rumbling purr deep in her body rather than her throat. As her hands come to rest along your shoulders she relaxes, enjoying your attentions. You needn't concern yourself with that, she reminds you, She was grown fully when she was caught. I think that if the elan is as capable as she claims, there will be no reduction in her skills or power since then.

You think on the dragon's spells, the magical powers it called into being, and then recall the powers that you possessed in the other life that Skattish crafted for you. Certain of them were....incredibly useful powers, and it doesn't take you long to recreate them in your mind, even as you move to Yzia's other breast and suckle, fondling and kneading and making her croon softly to you. Pulling away forcefully you make her yelp softly with the applied suction pulling at her sensitive breast. What prompted this form....it is far more warlike, far more familiar a form than you prefer, it seems.

She smiles toothily at you and you accept the kiss she offers, slow and deep. I admit I was intimidated by her at the first, and took a more warlike form than usual for the sole purpose of feeling stronger. But as always, you make me feel like the female I am regardless of my form, Akko.

You are always a woman to us, Yzia, even when you are a male in shape....you are far too beautiful and gracious a creature to be anything but. The shadowy thoughts are subtle and slippery, yet rich in nuance and form. They are dark, deadly thoughts, the thoughts of a murderer, while hinting at the beauty and glory of living and loving.

Stepping away from your companion, you smile and marvel and the beautiful face of your friend, unmarred by acid and grinding, shearing teeth. Her eyes, both whole and living, gaze warmly and fondly back. Tzanziarette, you declare to all around you. whole and complete once more, and no less beautiful for it.

“Only you would consider it to have been possible to change for the worse, Akko,” she says aloud, as Siobhan sings into the now open mind of your murderous lover. Skattish is sitting sideways on the altar, her legs off the edge but her body turned to watch you and yours reunited. She walks down the few steps and embraces you, leaning down to kiss you thoroughly and deeply, her lips perfect and whole, and entirely familiar to you despite that. Her pleasure at your lack of a reaction to the changes in her body amuse her, and she lets you feel that amusement.

The sense of her mind is glorious and you gently – and with her allowance – delve into the depths of her felling sand thoughts, as she revels in your presence in her mind, communing with Siobhan and Yzia separately. You squirm as she sets her spurs to your tongue, holds you captive for a few seconds, and revels in your all too easily broadcast reaction to it. I had forgotten what pleasure this could be, she murmurs into your mind.

[X] Write in? Is all as you expected and were told?

You walk around her and while her hair has not grown back, the scars are gone, smoothed into soft blue-grey skin and her ear has been fully restored as well. As much as I look forward to experiencing you and Yashi on conversation together....and I am looking forward to it a great deal.....I am afraid that experiments must wait until later. I must finish my business here so that we can move on and deal with a traitor in the human kingdom. You slide a hand along her lightly armored lower back, and she shivers delightfully, the sense of your touch projected as a whisper of thought eliciting a stronger reaction than the touch itself would.

Well, one experiment.

I suspect it will be overwhelming to our sensitive warrior Lywedra, she teases with a thought dark and rich in lusts and desires. The sensation sends shivers down your spine and you can't help but laugh, soft and warm and low. She takes your hand as you finish your walk-around, kissing your palm intimately and looking into your eyes as she does so.

“Enough, enough! I yield to your skills!” Yzia laughs noting you said nothing about her skills being superior. “We will explore your newly restored abilities soon enough, my darling Murderer.” Her eyes carry heat even her thoughts might have trouble conveying.

Turning to Skattish your smile fades and she raises her eyebrows, her blue eyes widening a touch. “Why did you bring the dragon?” you ask simply not yet threatening or brusque. “She seemed somewhat distressed and hinted at dark powers watching me.”

She smiles suddenly. “I would have thought you had guessed, Akko. Ever watching force intending utter destruction, focused upon your actions and movements, unbound by the constraints of time, using skills that only a great psychic would bee capable of? You yourself said it – your power is for yourself....and slaying the illithidae. It cannot be that difficult a leap.” Her teasing is gentle and she doesn't make the mistake of talking down to you. You have limits.
>>
It does make a certain amount of sense of course. Vlaakith would be able to hide her doings from even a dragon's magics and scrying, while being incredibly interested in both the Elder Power and your doings. “If Vlaakith had actually seen this future or known this was happening, I cannot imagine there not being a dozen cadre of knights and warriors here to capture or slay me,” you point out. Her response is to tap her cheek, where you wear the enchanted metal rune. “You are saying she used Hypercognition, which left enough trace evidence for Soliqui to become aware of it? Dubious, Skattish, dubious.”

“Those who travel unknown are rarely unremarked upon or entirely invisible. Your movements creates waves, Akko, and you should not delude yourself that you have not come to the attention of many forces greater than yourself. It is the inevitable fate of those possessed of the Elder Power.” She swings her legs over the altar and vaults to the side you are on, though still some distance away. “Your friend is healed, and you have viewed the crystal.” You hold it up, the blackened and cracked crystal no longer useful for anything more grand than a paperweight.

Though even a paperweight can be used for grand things, so there is that.

“Keep it if you like. It's of no use to me – the use of it changed it enough it's not even useful as a scrying target. I take it your answer is still no.”

The smile is automatic and simple. “You would be correct. Even if Her Majesty is watching, aware of me, in some fashion, indirect as it may be, this life is rich and intense, and I do not want for more. That may change some day, and if it does, I will see if one of your kind will guide me to you or yours. Until then, you have my gratitude for your work, and my respect for your skills and power.” She smiles and salutes you in perfect imitation of your own kind's honorific and you respond in kind, keeping your eyes upon her as she does you. “You have not been boring, and you have given me much to think on. Travel in safety, as best you may, Skattish of the elan.”

“Where would the fun in that be,” the ancient creature replies. “I will remain long enough to dismantle the labyrinth, and leave the ruins for others to marvel at. Then perhaps a visit to the City of Brass, or the Pearl Beds of Dark Waters.” She turns to the shimmering mirror off liquefied time, the mirror of quintessence and sighs. “That's going to be a problem,” she murmurs, not having expected there to be so much remaining, no doubt.
>>
You leave her to her trials and walk with Yzia and Tzanzi to the doorway. The day is still bright, and you blink at the intense light. Tzanzi is looking around eagerly, drinking in the sights with her newly restored depth perception. Yzia comes up behind you and wraps her arms about your body, her talons meeting at your belly. I do not like that she hinted at Vlaakith's interest, or that she allowed us to go so easily.

No reason not to, you reply to her and Tzanzi alike. The tall murderer smiles and walks over, leaning close to Yzia and turning her head so she can deliver a kiss of her own to the alien flesh and blood the dragon wears. Yzia seems mollified by the kiss, to an extent. She would not even need a scrying spell – she has more powerful methods at her disposal and is intimately familiar with Tzanzi now. She could have taken a pound of flesh and we would be none the wiser.

This one hopes not, Tzanzi purrs in your minds. She seemed a formidable opponent.

She did not, Siobhan informs you and you smile, pleased that the dragon's distraction was ineffective against the most beautiful and deadly lover you have.

“Siobhan may be disappointed in the fact that she might not be able to possess you easily and share me with you,” you tease, and Siobhan giggles manically in your mind. “Is it everything you were hoping it would be, Tzanzi?”

“Oh, it is good to be whole, without reservation or doubt. But I think that I cherish your lack of change more.” You look at her quizzically and she laughs, Siobhan joining in, while Yzia nuzzles your neck and licks your cheek with a slender strip of tongue. “Yes, exactly so,” she murmurs, and leans in to kiss you once again.

It is good to be able to give your friends gifts, you have to admit.

Memory of what she saw of the magic and people erased, only her memories of the temple itself in stone left to her, then gently Geased to tell others of it, in three days time, to make people wonder about it.

Skattish may or may not have left treasures and mysterious clues within to be found....along with a few imported horrors to fight.

Really like the idea of elan making random nonsense dungeons.

Thanks for writing

You have forever and probably collect tons of useless trinkets and tools and toys and weapons. what else would you do?
>>
Sleep, finally, and the hopes of a new day with a little less pain and more strange things to get stuck in my head. I'll be back in about 7 hours to answer questions and accept feedback.

Thanks for running! Everything went better than expected. I'm looking forward to next time already.

>18th level
Damn, Akko's getting swole (figuratively).
>>
>>2422706

I'm happy you're feeling a bit better.

>>2422711

Well, she's also getting swole literally.

Just wait 'til the effects of actually having an anatomy with real time passing settle in.
>>
>>2422743
It might depend on the particulars of Gith anatomy. I imagine she'll at least get more tone and definition though.
