First time doing one of these in a while, but feel like doing another.
You guys know the rules, first race/place to three votes wins.
I feel like playing some kind of tribal Civ, but it's ultimately up to you guys.
>>
>>2442054
I am torn between minotaurs and centaurs. Both look like a cool choice for tribal civ.
I think in the end my vote go to centaurs. Also let go with tundra and make our centaurs more bulkier breed with thicker fur. Because plains would be to obvious choice for them.
>>
>>2442054
Homunculus in the Mountains
>>
>>2442111
That a massive coincidence, as the first Civ I ever played in was Mino/Tundra, and it lasted for about 8 months

Both this and the Homunculus/Mountains sound great, don't let me change you minds, just thought that it was a cool coincidence
>>
>>2442446
Really? You don't have maybe a link to this archived thread? I think that would be something I would like to read.
>>

Here's most of them, the most latest ones didn't get on it, as the OP seemed to be going down in health in those ones, I hope they're ok, but haven't heard from them since :(

First born from the sludges, your people have to fighting since their creation. This mountain has never been a peacful place, as its people never trusted each other long enough to form tribes, and if they did, other goblins would band together to kill them, for they were a threat to their territory.

After millennia of this cycle, of goblin killing goblin, and tribe killing tribe, this became to norm, and nothing grew or changed on the Volcano.

However, after a particularly gruesome Tribe War, one goblin had the vision to see that they could do so much more, and banded the small cluster of goblins that remained.

Gnogdix gives the remaining goblins a sense of purpose, and for once in the history of the Volcano, a settlement was born. Not a large on, or even a very good one, but, hey, they're trying, ok?

Resources such as food and water are sparse in the area, but luckly the settlement was built near the only stream in the area, one that comes from one of the nearby mountains and happens to flow near the base of the Volcano. Food, however, remains an ever present problem.

In the most resent disastors, the people were having problems with people dying after the incidents, but without healing, they would always die. Gnogden, after seeing this, tries out using different things they have on people to see what effects they have. The 10 goblins that went out into the forest to search seem to come back with only 7 of them. They say they were attacked by what seemed like large flying lizards on the way back, waiting for them just outside the forest. They were much, much larger then the goblins were, and had two wings, two feet, and had a stinger at the end of their tails. While three did die, the ones who survived brought back things they found in the forest!

Wyverns. Bastards. I don't know if Wyverns are smart enough to follow the returning goblins but we may want to consider prepping for an attack. Walls won't do much good though.

Action: Build more iron weapons/armor
Research: Better Ranged Weapons

I'm down for >>2450517 Ballistae
>>
I'm going to say it before some thing bad happens, but I'll pose you guys a question.
How to do build a ballista out of stone?
>>
>>2450525
Right, we don't have wood. Well then we are fucked, the only Ranged Weapon we can get is bigger slingshot. Best we can do is teach our caster some ranged spells.
>>
>>2450525
Putting the cart before the horse, we are. All we've got are flattened roots for slings, and that's not going to work well for larger items.

Hm. Catapaults and Trebuchet are also out due to similar reasonings.

Might need to hope our Firecasters and Slings are enough. Granted these big bad Wyverns only ate three goblins so they can't be all that scary. Also we're thinking about this the wrong way. We're goblins. Overwhelming numbers is how we solve our problems.

Updated Action: Build more Iron Weapons/Armor
Updated Research: Spiked steel armor.

Tear apart the Wyverns from the inside out. They can't possibly reproduce as fast as we do.
>>
>>2450541
This

We really need to get some wood over to us at some point though.
>>
>>2450545
Agreed. Figure once we remove the (presumed) immediate threat of Wyverns, we can research some tools and then...somehow get it back to us. Depends on if the river flowing is too strong to go upstream or not- might need to set up an auxillary camp closer to the forests.
>>
>>2450553
I remember mentioning a boat earlier. But a boat requires wood, and the knowledge of how to make and utilize it. An auxiliary camp would only require some unemployed goblins to go chop trees, wood related production could be based there aswell to prevent logistical issues of how to bring wood back
>>
We should try and figure out a way to capture these creatures so that we can domesticate them. Something likes nets made of iron.
>>
>>2450572
Yeah I like the idea of an expansion once we can figure out how to deal with the Maybe!Wyverns. We also don't have any idea how many there are...but presumably not all that many?

>Adventure
>Stealth up to Wyverns and find base location
While three goblins see were the Wyverns landed, the others go search for a possible staging ground. It seems like most of the area near the stream would work, but the further down you go, other streams connect with it, meaning the further you go, better a village would be.
The ones looking at the wyverns find that they had landed because they saw food! In a clearing a fair bit into the forest, two have landed, and they are eating at what looks like the remains of a dear. After a little bit of them feeding, they pick up the leftovers, and fly in the direction that the other wyverns left in.

>Scout Wyverns and set traps
Since the mountain the wyverns went too was pretty close to the village, or atleast closer to it than the forest, it seems like it would be a better idea to get back home first.
Also, while you didn't bring any traps, you think that if you leave some people behind, you could use the wood you got and build something to trap one or two, and bring them back later.

>The Trappers you sent out come back!
>They rolled a 97! (I rolled irl dice)
Only one trapper comese back, however, they bring back all three traps they left with full with a wyvern each!
>We left for a mountain nearby that we saw them fly too, and while the others died, Yek-lahon came to me in a vision, and saw my triumph, and gave me a way to carry these traps back.

>Action 1
>Tame Wyverns: HOLY MOLY 100
Gnogdix stands high up to Volcano, viewing his village, as the trapper returns. He thinks about what the future might hold for them, and what glory they might acheive. At this point Yek-lahon whispers,
>Why wonder, when you can do...
Gnogdix blinks, and finds himself, no longer on the mountainside, but in a large expanse of red-orange light, standing on nothing.
In it, stand a large humanoid being of barely solid lava, flameing, with peiceing eyes of red.
>Gnogdix, you have come far, and your people further. They are already seeing that the Wyverns can be reasoned with. While they once abadonned their Element, they still remember it. They will work with you.
>Your tribe has earned my knowledge, my visage, my honour, and my respect. Do well with it.
Gnogdix blinks, and he is back on the mountainside, with the glory of his tribe and his god in his mind.

>Wyverns Tamed! They seem to be smart, as smart as a dog would be.
>They are easy to tame, they just want food. They seem to like the roots you feed them a whole lot.
