The concussion of the shell throws you bodilly across No Man’s Land. For a moment, you wonder if this is what the harpies feel like, weightless as they soar above the land. The ground rushes up to meet you, intent on driving the thoughts from you swiftly. You land hard, bouncing twice in the thick mud. It forces its way into your nostrils, an oily grime that makes your eyes water as the chemical reek invades your sinuses. Your uniform tears on a strip of razor wire as you bounce over the top of the roll. Had you been but a few inches lower it would have disemboweled you. You can feel Nixie curled into a ball in your pocket, and you do your best not to let your weight crush her as you land for a final time. The momentum bleeds off you over the course of a few rolls, your battered form finally halting at the edge of a shell crater. Dazed, you lie there as the world shatters around you. You can’t hear the shells anymore, or the cries of battle, and the moans of the chemically changed creatures.

In fact all you can hear is a high pitched whine, an invading screech that threatens to break your consciousness in two. Stars swim across your vision as the edges darken, your body reflexively flinching from the constant rain of earth over your still form. You roll your head groggily, looking over the hellscape you lie on. Thoughts form slowly, as if halted at their birth. You...who are you? Jäger, Dietrich Otto Jäger. Sturmtruppen of the great Imperial German Empire. You remember a charge across a broken land, friends and allies cut down by the scything fire of French weapons of war. A pitched fight in melee, and a desperate escape as the dead rose up around you, animated by some horrific chemical attack from earlier. You can feel the crushing thump of explosions in your chest, a wall of pressure that encases your mind and body in a vise with each shell bursting. Slowly, your hearing begins to return, the high pitched whine abating to a background noise.

“Jäger! Jäger! Please get up Dietrich! Please don’t die!”

You swing your head downwards, each motion feeling exaggerated, and you stop your gaze from swinging over the little Fae that sits on your chest. Nixie pounds on you with her tiny fists, tears streaming down her face. She looks up at you, a mixture of relief and sorrow on her features. She throws herself down onto you, stretching her arms as wide as they can to hug you. You do your best to pat her on the back, gesturing with drunken hands to move back into the pocket she hid in.

As the Fae retreats to the only semblance of safety she has out here, you roll onto your stomach. Your rifle, an AKG 9.8 sits barrel down in the mud a few feet away from you. Your bayonet is still in your left boot, the revolver full of Banshee rounds at the small of your back.

What is your course of action?
>>
>>2490138
>Drop down into trench, get to the munitions cache

Welcome back!
>>
>>2490174
I'm so damn glad to be back. I've missed questing a whole hell of a lot.
>>
>>2490138
Nice to see the quest running again

Get our bayonet out and at the ready and move up to get our rifle back, then onwards to the munitions dump

I think the plan was to run along the edge of the trench rather than jumping back in, though.
>>
Going to give it a bit to see if anyone else makes it in, as well as we are tied.
>>
>>2490138
>Grab our rifle, and get the fuck back up and heading on out. We got a muntions dump to get too

YOU MADMAN, I THOUGHT YOU LEFT US FOR GOOD.
>>
>>2490203
Hell no man, life just got real no fun for a bit. Work schedule was hellish.
>>
>>2490205
Its good to see your back, and ya I know that issue. Went from 3 jobs sense you left. shit sucks.

How long we running tonight?
>>
>>2490207
Hopefully until near Midnight. I have to be up very early tomorrow, but last time I went to an event like this I went on no sleep so any should be fine for me.
>>
Alright guys, going to run with grabbing our rifle and going forward. Do we drop into the trench or risk more artillery?
>>
>Trench, behind the undead
>>
>>2490238
Supporting this, run along the trench until we can drop in behind the undead
>>
One for drop, one for run along.
>>
Ah well, in fact it is two to one. We're dropping in behind them! I gotta say, I'm surprised anyone waited this long for me to come back. Seems as though anytime I tried previously shit got in the way. Thank you all for the interest.
>>
>>2490221
Fuck I dunno. Death is just everywhere.
>>2490238
Ill support this. But we gotta pray to mother luck we dont get vaporized.
>>
You stumble to your feet, the sky breaking open around you as the artillery falls. The rain starts as a drizzle, a few drops that smack against your uniform loudly. The ground already churned begins to wet, the mud thickening to a glue that grasps at your ankles like claws of the damned. Each shell that falls feels like it is meant for you, the screeching barrage pulping all that it touches. You stagger forward, grasping your rifle and yanking it from the wet earth. You cycle the bolt, clearing the mud that sticks to every surface. You can’t clear your barrel without taking the weapon apart, and you daren’t risk that now. You can only pray it won’t explode when you fire it next.

You grasp at the bayonet that rests in your boot, pulling it out and keeping it close to you. Every step forward is an effort, your head still full of fuzz. Your vision swims as another round of artillery knocks you to your knees. You push yourself to your feet as best you can, the drizzle having turned into a downpour. The sound of thunder mixes in with the explosions, a constant rolling thrum that pushes back against every heartbeat. The rain washes the mud from your body and clothing, quickly replacing it with a damp weight that drags at the bottoms of your clothes. To your right a good hundred feet back, the clawing hands of the monstrous damned reach over the trench at you, swiping through the air wildly.

You wipe the water from your eyes as you continue to shadow the side of the trench, visibility reduced to just a few feet in any direction. Clouds of smoke and mist hang low, obscuring your feet in a milky haze that reminds you of those that hunt you. You’ve traveled a good two hundred feet by what you estimate, though in this hellish overworld you can’t be sure. The rain has began to fall even harder, the heavens opening to drown those below.

You don’t have time to the think of if now is the right time to drop, the salvo that cannons on deciding for you. Once more you’re lifted from your feet and forward by a shockwave that landed near, and this time you can feel your left eardrum burst, a warm trickle running along the side of your head that dilutes with the water. Your right shoulder impacts the breastworks with an audible crack like sniper fire. Wriggling shapes glide across your vision, the pain dropping you to your knees. You can feel Nixie shaking in your pocket, whether from fear or cold you can’t tell. Glancing back down the trenchline, you can see the way back towards the line obliterated by a direct shell. You’re thankful that you’re cut off from the horrors that had plagued you since the machine gun nest, but the realization that you’d need to go over or find another way back begins to sink in.

You:

[1] Drag out your map

[2] Try to remember the grid square of the munitions

[3] Try to decipher the french signs on the wall

[4] Check your surroundings
>>
>>2490290

[1] Drag out your map after finding a small little part so you can't be flanked or grabbed.
>>
>>2490301
Supporting, we probably wont be able to find a writing utensil, so we should scratch the munitions coordinate on the map with the tip of our bayonet.
>>
>>2490301
Supporting this
>>
Alright going with >>2490301
>>
You struggle forward, the lack of sound on your left side screwing with your sense of your surroundings. On your right, a small alcove in the trench wall leads down into a small bunk section. The lamp on the table flickers slowly as the heavy water seeps down through the earth overhead. Personal effects float by your feet, pictures of families and prostitutes floating along the surface of the muddy water like a dappled skin. You reach down into your kit, pulling at your map. You slice your hand open on the piece of shrapnel embedded in one of the extra magazines in your kitbag. Carefully, you pull out the magazine and examine it. The metal spike is almost six inches long, and thin as a razor. It had passed through the magazine directly between two rounds, narrowly missing setting the magazine off.

The seal on your kitbag having been broken by the peppering of metal, the water readily soaked into the contents inside, reducing your map to a ink stained pulpy mess. You toss it down aside, salvaging any other contents you can.

Your medical supplies are no longer sterile and your map is worthless.
You have now 10 magazines, one of them having been rendered unusable.
You are still lost.

What now?
>>
>>2490365
Fuck, Learn french real fast.

Ammo all looks the same right?
>>
>>2490365
Jesus fuck. There should be some booze nearby, since its a bunk. Lets do some first aid on our hand and take any spare bullets out of that lifesaver mag before we ditch it. Then we aughta search this place for maps or such.
>>
>>2490365
Search for anyone in our unit
>>
>>2490365
Well shit, never mind that plan. We need to disinfect that wound if possible, so I'll support >>2490382 for scavenging the bunk area for booze, maps, or any other useful supplies
>>
Looks like we scavenge for supplies.
>>
You cast your eyes about the room, looking for anything of use. On the wall to the right a locked chest sits upon one of the shelves seemingly untouched by the water around you. You step towards it, pushing your bayonet under the soft metal of the catch and snapping the box open. Inside the velvet lined box, an incredibly shaped bottle of something called Frappin Cognac, dated 1888. You pull the bottle out and lever the stopper open with your teeth. The alcohol burns across the cut in your hand, adding to the aches and stabbing pains that cover your body.
You think about it for a moment, before tossing back a gulp of the drink. You feel a warmth settle through your stomach that dulls your senses enough to make the pain manageable.

Keep the bottle?
>>
>>2490456
Absolutely, we should plug the neck with an old rag. a molotov just in case. And if we need it for gauze we could just take the rag out.
>>
>>2490465
>Molotov an 1888 Cognac
You fucking animal
>>
>>2490468
Its war. Or just as good, we could wrap and tie the rag at the neck.
>>
>>2490456
Keep the fucking bottle, and make sure we can use it on the off chance shit goes bad.
>>
>>2490477
Keeping the bottle with a rag tied around the neck sounds good

Anything else in here that looks useful?
>>
Alright we're hanging on to it and tying a rag.

Next question is what to do next? There is nothing else in the room. Figure instead of a short post I'll just tie it all together
>>
>>2490501
Well clearly we gotta find the muntions place, So lets try and think REAL HARD while learning french.
>>
>>2490501
Grab a light, hard surface. A small pane of wood would do. And scratch in the coordinates of the munitions site with our bayonet.
>>
>>2490515
>>2490514
>>2490290
Oh never mind my dumb ass, we are searching for it, not recording it for high command. Duh.
>>
Alright guys, bear with me but we'll continue after I break for Dinner. Back in just over an hour or so. Sound good?
>>
>>2490536
Yeep. Take your time.
>>
So, as I sit here and eat I figure I should tell you guys the schedule to expect. We won't be able to maintain the every other day that we used to do. Looking like once or twice a week. I should have Friday's and Saturday's off for sure so bank on those two days.

Again, sorry life got so hectic. I would never dream of leaving this unfinished.
>>
>>2490555
All good boss, You came back

For all intents and purposes I have to call it for tonight. My internet is back but it has come to my attention I have over 500 dollars in charges on my card that I didn't make. If it isn't one thing its another. Sorry everyone. Monday it is.

I have returned my funds. Thanks lads for wishing it well. Your blessings have shone upon me.
>>
>>2493169
Good job. Now you can use that money to buy bulk shipments of dragon dildos.
>>
Damn welcome back. Really missed the duo of the fae and Dietrich.
>>
Apologies for the late start guys, had to run up to the store. Finishing the update now and we'll be on track to run.
>>
You take a strip of cloth off of one of the bunks, tying it around the bottle to keep ready and stuffing it into your water logged pack. Glancing around the room you don’t find much of anything else. Whatever papers might have been useful currently make up the slurry of mud and water under your feet. One of the French rifles sits atop the bunk, disassembled in the smallest of parts as if the owner had been cleaning it thoroughly as the assault began.

Nixie peeks her head over the lip of your pocket, glancing around the room and then up to you. She herself is bruised and battered as well, though nothing more serious than that. You can feel your shoulder stiffening by the moment, a constant throb that ebbs and flows just as the water around your ankles. You glance up at the signage hanging from the ceiling by the door, a combination of letters you can’t make heads nor tails of. You make a mental note to try to learn some semblance of French when you’re back to the German lines. The small symbols aren’t much help either, a different set for a different military then you are used to.

“What were the numbers Hauptmann told you? 242….242...I can’t remember the rest Jäger can you?”

It was:

[1] 242811

[2] 242118

[3] 242181
>>
>>2501156
QM its been far too fucking long for this, You're a hitler now.

Fucking 181 I can't be bothered to archive dive while on my phone at work?
>>
>>2501161
I wasn't doing this on purpose until I realize it made sense with the concussion of the shell getting us all outta whack. I'll take it and run. I'm sorry anon I didn't mean to be away so long I really didn't.
>>
>>2501165
Its not your fault, I just pray somebody else can show up that can fucking achieve dive.

JUST DON'T LEAVE AGAIN YOU MADMAN.

>>
>>2501169

You're all free to join me for the E3 "Excuse to get smashed for three days" drinking game though

>>2501172
Its simple we kill life.

Can't, Bills and broken shit in a house that cost 1k each. Life is a struggle as an anon that is underpaid and between jobs

OTHER ANONS APPEAR

Just make sure we don't let anons sell out the pixie if I miss some votes. Thats all I ask, because booze is equally expensive.

Going to give it another five to see if any other votes roll in.
>>
Alright 242181 it is here we go!
>>
“I think it’s 181 Nixie. At least that’s what I remember, that shelling sure scrambled my thoughts.”

Nixie nods at you in response, then glancing over to the rifle on the bed.

“Jäger you might need someone else to help you fight. You’re alone out here, and if that number is wrong you’ll be fighting alone. I could...I could help you if you’d like.”

You aren’t quite sure how she could with her size, but an extra gun might not be too bad. Processing the thought isn’t easy though as your attention is pulled to the faded map hidden by the gloom of the wall. You had looked right over it before, a large parchment bound over a board, the edges yellowed and tattered. Mildew spotted the lower left section, blotting out the grid markings and tunnel systems to the southwest. You squinted in the dim light, looking over the grids for any sort of markings that might help. From what you can tell and vaguely remember from your map, you’d be heading to the northwest to get to the grid you need to.

You check over your gear, the AKG in your hands a comforting weight. You return the bayonet to your boot, gripping the rifle tighter now in the event you need automatic fire. You cinch down your rig, making sure your bag won’t bounce around on your hip and ready yourself to move out the door but Nixie speaks up again.

“Do you want me to help Jäger? I think we might need it?”

You aren’t sure how she means help, but it might be worth a try. Alone in the trenches, you could use all the help you could get. It’d put her much more at risk however.

[1] Yes

[2] No
>>
>>2501230

[2] No, I don't have the ammo or weapons to give you or share. Worse case we just pull back and try elsewhere... hopefully.
>>
Seems that people are rather busy today. If it doesn't pick up I'm going to wait until later in the night to continue this. You guys alright with that?
>>
Welp, I'll take the silence as a yes. We're gonna wait until 9:00PM EST to continue this. Hope to see you guys there!
>>
>>2501260

Sorry man, can't just go on the one vote. I really want to run this but if the people aren't here then I can't do much about it.

Shit, I came too late to play.

Supporting cause it makes sense.

Fifteen minutes until the time we're supposed to start, just checking to see if anyone is going to be here!

Well this is disappointing then. Not really sure what to do.

I'm not dropping it, I just need at least three to run. Gonna finish up and post the update and we'll see what happens.

“No Nixie, I don’t have the extra ammo or weapons. I wouldn’t even know where to start with that French rifle either. If we’re going the right way I should be able to meet up with someone. Until then, just keep your eyes open.”

Nixie nods, though she seems a little crestfallen that you wouldn’t accept her help. You take one last glance at the map before walking back out into the trench proper. The rain falls hard and fast now, a near constant sheet of water that buffets all things exposed to the open air. The water rises up under your knees now, making every step you take an effort. Body parts and gore roll and tie themselves under your feet, threatening to pull you under the muddy surface. The shelling has been so constant you barely register the constant concussions that buffet you.

Over the noise of explosions the incessant shouting and gunfire of men fighting for their very lives carries through the wastes. Remembering your mental map you turn left at the first junction you arrive at. The breastworks of the trenches offer no change in scenery, a constant stained and dull wood that rises above your head. You keep your rifle at a low ready, your eyes searching for any signs of movement from an enemy. Just ahead, corpses line the right wall, draped against one another as they fought and died to their very last breath. You pick out a few dull grey uniforms, those of your fellow soldiers. They twitch and writhe, amongst the corpses of the French that do likewise.

You:

[1] Try to go slow, sneak past them

Going slow
>>
>>2502042
Have you tried posting an update in /qtg/? Aside from that, it may just be that today at this time isn't a good time for whatever anons are still taking part in the quest.
>>
You take a measured pace forward, trying as best you may not to disturb the waters around you. You are thankful for the blistering rain and shellfire, which drowns out all but the loudest of noises. The bodies thrash around you, and by now you’ve drawn parallel with the first of them. Whether they were just exposed to a low dose or have yet to fully change you aren’t sure, but you are yet wary of the movements.

You clutch your weapon tight, thumbing off the safety lock and shouldering it to the ready. You reach in to the mire around you, dragging your bayonet from your left boot and locking it onto the weapon. Nixie peeks her head over your pocket, looking on in horror at the convulsing figures.

“Jäger... what kind of horrors does man unleash? This is twisted...death should be sacred even now.”

You aren’t quite sure how to respond, and you can’t spend much more than a thought on it. You’ve made it about a quarter of the way forward in this line, and the creatures are moving about more violently than before. The bright orange foam like that you had previously seen spills over the edges of the revetment. It swirls around your knees, a gaudy horror that you know all too well to raise those who had expired.

You:

[1] Pick up the pace

[2] Keep it steady and slow
>>
>>2502079
I haven't actually, I completely forgot to when I made the thread.

Juggling some work for tomorrow, sorry for missing that update
>>
>>2502161
All good man, you do what you need to.
>>
You continue at your pace, hopeful that moving quietly and slowly won’t draw the ire of the dead. You exhale the breath you realized you had been holding, a cloud forming in the cool air. The temperature feels as though it had dropped twenty degrees in the last moment, a shiver running through you that you can’t staunch. The surface of the water begins to ice over, spindly crystals locking over themselves as they wrap around your knees. The cold bites through your skin, the soaked wool of your uniform hardening to the stiffness of a wooden board. You see one of them on the top of the trench, walking along with her bouquet in hand. The wispy black of the hair that shroud her face floating about the gaunt pale skin of her face.

You try to take a step, only to find your legs stuck solid in ice. Around you, the dead stir as the horrible chemical animates their body. The banshee of The Choir looks down at you, a malevolent grint the only visible portion of her face.

“Death calls for you once more Jäger. How long can you escape? How much longer can you flee from the end.”

As if on cue, the soldiers you had passed by stand in lockstep, their grievous wounds ignored.

You:

You pull back slightly on the bolt of your rifle, checking the chambered cartridge inside. Satisfied you let it slam home, a satisfying weight that slides forward with a KA-CHUNK. You shoulder the weapon, exhaling slowly as you squeeze down on the trigger. Your first round finds its home in the right eye of a dead Frenchman. A splatter of gore and orange liquid sprays backwards, coating the wall with chunks of flesh and bone. You ride the recoil, a hefty kick backwards that throws your aim onto the next target. You continue to fire as fast as the weapon cycles. The 9.8mm rounds blast chunks from the corpses, severing limbs and exploding heads.

You try to twist your legs as you fire, intent on shattering the ice that binds. You can feel however the cold crawling deeper and deeper as the ice thickens down to the very mud. The first magazine empties with a final shot and you do your best to change it with haste. The empty steel drops to the ground, a new one taking the place of it. You resume your fire, trying your best to ignore the cold that gnaws at your bones.

Try as you might the dead draw closer, crawling and dragging themselves across the ice. What shots don’t kill simply slow them, a inexorable tide that draws ever closer.

You turn your gunfire to the ice around your legs. Chips of the hardened mire fly at you, slicing across your face. Desperate, you stab at the ground with your bayonet, driving deep holes around you. As much as you attempt the prison around you won’t buckle. You turn your gunfire up, putting three ragged holes in the head of the German that was about to reach you. His body twitches with the gunfire, gore coating the encroaching dead behind him. You can hear the dragging shuffling from behind you, and try as you might you can’t turn.

You thrust your bayonet forward, goring another of the monsters through the eye. You can feel the things final convulsions through your bayonet. You awkwardly try to free the weapon, yanking up and back at an angle that does nothing more than send shooting pains through your shoulder. The shuffling behind you draws even closer, and you ready yourself for the end.

The Banshee stands at the edge of the trench, looking down at you with a grin.

“I think you’ve reached the end then Jäger. Undone at last.”

She turns, stepping away from the upcoming demise you’re about to suffer.

Last actions or words?

“Sorry Nixie...I wish I hadn’t dragged you into all of this.”

Nixie looks up at you a grim and melancholy look taking over her eyes.

“I wouldn’t have missed it for the world Jäger. At least this end is fitting. Going out fighting.”

You grin, understanding her intent as your hand finds the grip of your revolver. Time seems to slow as you raise it, the hands of the dead grasping at your arms. You watch the hammer pull back, the .454 Casull round slipping underneath the pin. You feel the wall, your finger tensing against the metal.

The sharp whine fills the air, a keening electricity that tingles inside your teeth. The lance of light flies out from the barrel, drops of rain evaporating in a haze of steam as is drives forward through the air. You watch as time seems to stop, the driving rain slowing to a crawl. The Banshee’s grin doesn’t leave her face as the round enters her sternum through the bouquet of flowers. She teeters on the edge of the trench, slipping forward into the mire that the dead crawl in.

You can’t help but smile, a final middle finger to the horrible world you were born into. You settle back, resigned to let the dead take you with them. Their cold hands grasp at your arms and torso, using you as leverage to drag them closer.

A flurry of rounds cut down the two hanging on you, the staccato chatter of an AKG 98 thundering through the air interspersed with the roaring blast of a Krupp Schrotflinte 6. You try to look back, and can’t help but laugh at the imposing shape of Siegfried standing beside the Hauptmann.

What do you do?

One day we'll lewd the waifu you've given us, and escape this hell called war. Also thanks boss.

Emotions overtake you, a mixture of joy and relief. You hold yourself steady however, keeping your weapon in hand and slaughtering the dead in front of you. Siegfried laughs over the boom of his shotgun, firing into the mass of flesh.

“Jäger! About time I’m the one saving your ass and not the other way around. You and your fairy hold tight, Edward and I will have you out of here in no time.”

“That’s Hauptmann Edward to you Gefreiter Siegfried. Continue your surgical usage of that buckshot and you may be on the receiving end of marksmanship training.”

You grin at the two, firing at the dead along with them. The ice around you has slowly broken, allowing you to clamber up onto the second level of the trench. You step over the corpse of the Banshee, her hair splayed out in a perfect circle around her head. The three of you finish off the corpses for their second time. Hauptmann strides over, the familiar and comfortable grin on his face that no other officer you have met has shown.

“Jäger, damn good to see you. I was hoping you’d have made it through that hell but then to be fair, if anyone could have it was you. We’re scattered all to hell, and no one thought ahead to give us anything fucking waterproof.” Hauptmann gestures around to the pouring rain as if to illustrate his point.

“Now, we’re just trying to get the rest of the men together and do whatever damage we can before they call us out or send us even further forward. Best we can do given the circum-”

A spray of blood lands on your face, quickly washed away by the roaring rain to mix with the rest that swirls around in the mire below you. Siegfried looks up from where he was down the trench searching for ammunition, holding up some war trophy for the Hauptmann. His words die on his lips as the officer reaches to hold the dark blade protruding from his chest. Behind him, the coal black hair of the horror that stalks you frames a malevolent grin. A horrible brutal crunching noise is audible over the rain as it twists and yanks on the blade, sending a pile of viscera onto your boots, the venerable Hauptmann sliding forward off the spike and falling face forward into the mire below.
And that's all for tonight everyone! Glad that you guys showed up to the session, our next session will be Thursday the 26th at 11:30PM EST. I'll be around for a bit for comments and questions as per usual!

Thanks boss, Stick around and be safe. Also fuck, We need to kill this bitch and fucking patch up Hauptmann.

I didn't think they were gonna target friends, only force more enemies on us. We have a real issue cause our revolver can't hurt or keep them down. What CAN kill them?

[1] Try the revolver again

[2] Engage her in melee

[3] Run

Starting early to get as much in as I can before crashing. Let's go! First boss fight.
>>
>>2517175
>>2502617
+1. Was it not a kill shot?
>>
>>2517184
Ah, I was reposting the last event. No the shot that hit her in the chest was not. It'll take a lot more punishment to ruin this Banshee.
>>
>>2517175
[1] Try the revolver again

If we can put her down, and get our fucking boss out of there
>>
Revolver it is, how many shots do we use?
>>
Guys, how many boolet come from gun barrel?
>>
>>2517218
>>2517232
One in the heart, one in the brain, then we pick up Hauptmann and run? How many bullet do we have? What are the vitals for magical entities?
>>
>>2517240
First encounter with a truly magical creature, we have five rounds in the magic revolver. She's already been shot in the sternum.
>>
Looks like two shots it is and then we try to get Hauptmann out. By the way lads, this is danger zone. Death is a real possibility for everyone involved.
>>
>>2517243
I guess we tell Siegfried to focus fire on the vitals and do that. Surely a Banshee has a weak spot or weakness. Is it possible to bait the zombies into attacking her?

>>2517253
Well if we do 3 shots + Siegfried and it fails, then that's 2 more + Siegfried than what it took to kill the lycanthrope.
>>
>>2517259
The zams have been killed already. Modified to 3 shots+Siegfried. Also forgot my trip.
>>
>>2517189
>>2517263
A shame. The only other things I can think of are environmental hazards like blowing up that bunker on her, or getting Nixie to do something. We could try setting off the bunker's ammunition while running away from her as a trap. What can Nixie do? Are there any other units nearby?
>>
You grasp your hand on the revolver you had used earlier, whipping it up to point at the Banshee. Hauptmann twitches at your feet, spasming from blood loss and shock. You can barely see the wound, but of what you can the massive vertical slash must run from his sternum to his pelvis. You can hear Siegfried cry out but the roll of thunder drowns out his sorrow.

You pull back on the trigger, the familiar whine and static making you think you were about to be struck by lightning. The first line of light cuts out and through the Banshee’s heart, boring a hole through her heart. You realize that the first entrance wound isn’t visible even on her dress. A spray of crimson exits from her back, though it is quickly atomized by the ray of hot magic that lances out into the air and through the clouds. You let the recoil of the first shot drag your aim up, squeezing the trigger for the second shot that pierces her forehead. You watch as chunks of skull cap and matted hair spatter against the wall behind the creature.

The malevolent grin doesn’t leave the horrors face as you ventilate her face a second time, the third shot destroying the right half of her jaw and sending the wicked grin spinning like shrapnel.

“Siegfried! Siegfried get the Hauptmann out of here! Shoot this bitch while you’re at it too!”

Siegfried had already been sprinting up the firestep towards you, his shotgun chambered and ready. The fourteen inch bayonet he kept was attached at the wrist to his prosthetic right hand.
He reached the monster as it fell to the ground, the rapid boom of his six gauge slugs showering the both of you with gore and dirt as he pulped the creatures head.

You:

[1] Help him with the Hauptmann

At what point was the Banshee too stunned to move? I couldn't tell if we shot so fast the Banshee didn't notice her injuries, or if it was so hardy it had no perceptible effect.

>>2517474
Combination of shooting fast and The Banshee not caring
>>
>>2517175
>His words die on his lips as the officer reaches to hold the dark blade protruding from his chest.

Oh yeah, also try confiscating the Banshee's dark blade or removing it from her reach so she can't immediately stab us while we're dragging Hauptmann away.

>>2502463
>The Banshee’s grin doesn’t leave her face as the round enters her sternum through the bouquet of flowers. She teeters on the edge of the trench, slipping forward into the mire that the dead crawl in.
I had a suspicion the injuries only temporarily stun her. I'm not sure if it's more efficient to have catastrophic damage at once, or spread out as soon as it recovers for more stun time. I’ll go for destroying body parts Dead-Space-style is best.
>>
“Nixie, out and about. Keep an eye on the thing would you. I don’t trust it.”

Nixie looks up at you, nodding quickly. It’s clear she senses the urgency of the situation. You see an odd look in her eye however, one that you dismiss as fear. She flits up from her perch in your pocket, and sets on top of the trench. You’d be worried for her if she didn’t present the target equivalent of threading a needle. She gazes down at corpse, watching it carefully.

“I don’t sense any magic from her Jäger. I think you did it.”

You nod, though you aren’t even looking at her. Your gaze is locked on your commanding officer, and the gaping wound through his center. You aren’t Dok, but you don’t need to be to know his chances of surviving very well don’t exist. Siegfried seems not to care, his considerable strength hefting the man into a fireman’s carry over his shoulder.

“Where to Jäger? Do we try to meet up with others or do we head back to the German lines. It’ll be hellish either way.”

You:

[1] Try to get to the bunker

“To the Bunker, we might be able to find Dok. Decent field medicine might be the only chance he has.”

Siegfried nods, a grim look on his face. His uniform is soaked in the blood of his officer, and you try not to hope for the man’s survival. The disappointment of him failing to survive isn’t something you can deal with in this situation. You glance around your surroundings, trying to pick out the vicious blade that gutted your friend. It’s nowhere to be seen, in fact the Banshee is gone too. Nixie looks at you with a look of concern.

“I didn’t even see her move Jäger. We need to be careful.”

You nod, and keep your weapon ready. You begin the jog into the unknown. You don’t even know where the bunker is. You’re already second guessing your choice as the four of you move down the trenchline.

You try your hardest to remember the map in your head, trying to make sense of the twists and turns. The trenchline is full of broken bodies, submerged in water and gore. Strings of intestines adorn this particular area, yellowed strands looped end over end on the posts like holiday lights. Siegfried has started flagging, trying to move through water while carrying the Hauptmann and his weapons is clearly no easy task. Nixie flits above you, trying to keep her eyes everywhere at once. Your head is on a swivel, though the gore adorning you keeps drawing your attention. It looks unnatural, as if put up for decoration. You check the chamber on your rifle, double checking it is loaded.

“Jäger! We need to get out of here, I feel magic!”

You ready yourself to move forward with renewed vigor, when you feel a tightness around your thigh. You look down, the slimey loops of intestine constricting you pull tighter and tighter. You can feel your uniform cutting off blood flow. A splash draws your attention, and you look to the side to see Siegfried struggling with ropes of gore lashed around his throat, Hauptmann having fallen into the mud.

You try to pull yourself free, but the menagerie of viscera continues. It’s then you feel a beating, a pulse that syncs with your chest and into your consciousness. A deep pounding that grinds into you. You look around, the ripples on the water forming multiple concentric circles. It’s then you realize the drum beat is from the hearts of the dead strewn about you. As if the entire battlefield dead were marching in lockstep against you. You saw her again, The Banshee of the choir standing atop the trench. The blackened blade sings in her hands, vibrating with the beat of war.

“Jäger! Give me your goddamn gun! Give me something! Goddamnit Jäger you need me here!”

Nixie’s words sound distant as you try to hack through the viscera entangling you, Siegfried struggles to breath out of the corner of your vision.

What do you do?

I'm sure we have to shoot the Banshee to interrupt her spell casting like last time. Does she still have her old injuries? Does she seem weakened?

>>2517651
They've been a part of the quest since thread 2 as far as I remember.

Also since I missed it, here is the Banshee description.

The wounds on her body are still fresh, wispy threads of flesh and bone knitting themselves back together. Reminiscent of previous usage of your revolver the skin around her wounds is blackened and ashen, though it too is receding. You watch as strands of gore rise from the trench to fill the gaping holes in her face, reconstructing the awful visage. Her smile comes first, the teeth wiggling themselves into place. Her lipless mouth pulls itself into her normal grin.
>>
>>2517655

We do not. Hauptmann or Sieg might.
>>
So as I understand it, hand off the revolver to to Nixie. Rules of nature with the shovel?

>>2517681
Well if a fucking gun doesn't work, our shovel has too.
>>
>>2517681

I'm guessing she's weakened and preoccupied while she's busy regenerating herself. Once we stun her with the revolver we should hack her to pieces and then burn them.

>>2517681
Yep. That means we're busy hacking all the viscera we can to free the others?
>>
>>2517684
>>2517686
Alright, Der SchaufelMeister arises.
>>
>>2517695
I wonder if all the monster and supernatural blood it has shed will be infused into the shovel.
>>
You still aren’t sure how Nixie can help but you need everything you can get. You toss the revolver, two of the rounds unspent. You don’t even watch to see if she catches it, instead looking down to try to free your shovel. The handle is pressed against your leg, and you can feel the cracking of both the polished wood and your bones. After what seems like ages of trying to pull it free you manage to, the razor edge slicing up and out through the canvas.

You feel comfortable with it in your hands, a dull calm that numbs out the beat of the hell aroundyou. Looking up, you can see how weak she is as the wounds heal. It must take some strength to try to kill you and Siegfried and the others as well as save herself. You have the chance to kill her now. Quicker than you may when she’s finished.

You look over to your friend Siegfried, entangled in the dead who would soon be joined with him and another. Hauptmann who looks already one of the lost souls, leaned up against the wooden firestep, brackish water lapping at his gaping wound. You glance to the viscera tightening on your leg.

You:

Banshee's suffered 2+2 revolver shots to the vitals and areas that would cause severe shock damage, Siegfried pulped her head, and is regenerating from them entirely. Including body parts that have been separated from the whole. We're going to need more manpower if she manages to survive this one.

We should try giving first aid to Hauptmann after this fight if we can.

It's about Siegfried's neck
>>
You cleave downwards with the shovel, the honed edge slicing clean through gore. Your head swims with the blood rushing back to it, a warm deadness taking over your leg. You stumble through the twisting mire of muck, gore, and rushing water over to Siegfried. You can see the loops of intestine around his limbs pulling in opposite directions, the one at his neck bending and twisting with a mind of its own. You rush forward, slicing downwards in a crescent arc that frees up his entire right side and his neck.

Siegfried gasps for air, using the blade on his right hand to free his left side. Collapsing to his knees, he grasps at his throat with his left hand, searching for his shotgun. You turn, looking up at the monstrosity whose wounds have regenerated to the point the only remnant of them is a slight discoloration.

It’s then that the blitzing screech of your revolver fills the air, entering through the Banshee’s right hip and exiting through her spine. She nearly crumples, before hanging in the air as if strung on marionette strings. You look to the source, surprised at what you see. Nixie stands at just under your height, a water logged cloak hung over her to cover her decency. You can’t really process much what you’re seeing , but you accept is as best you can.

You:

>>
>>2517785
>She nearly crumples, before hanging in the air as if strung on marionette strings.
That explains her sudden disappearance. I suspect she's either a puppet for the original actor, she has a phylactery that sustains her, or has strong magics that keeps her up.

What I mean is the banshee parts kind of got plopped onto us to make us suffer when we have hardly any knowledge of them, or the supernatural, and have next to no opportunity to properly combat or research them without metagaming with player knowledge or creativity, which is still a gamble that could risk our allies lives. Its gets annoying because we can't escape the battlefield and go to a library or factory to form new ideas and perspectives or learn something helpful partly because of how rigid the setting is for our character and we are always stuck on the frontline.

Congratulations, you're one of the few QMs to get fan art.

Surprising honestly, a lot of the quests I used to follow got art but granted that was years before qst existed. I'd think even the bigger ones here would get something.

That's pretty true but I won't stop running quests anyways. Already have another planned after this that I'm story boarding.

I'm surprised you all considered it art.
