You are pilot HARRY NEUMANN, the newest of one of the New UN Spacy's Tactical Sound Units!

It’s only been scant minutes since the Red Ace had been apprehended trying to approach Amy right at the end of her final song. However, the concert was still going on, with Amy giving a couple of encores as a favor to the crowd. That would buy you a few more minutes as you tried to figure out your next course of action.

“I’m perfectly fine holding this ice pack by myself.” Dorothea tuts.

“Huh?” You blink, snapped back to your senses as you realize your still clutching Dorothea’s injured hand, holding an ice pack against her fingers. “Ah, sorry!”

You quickly withdraw and Dorothea clasps the ice pack with her other hand before giving you a curious look.

“I suppose you want to oversee the processing of our new prisoner, do you not?”

“Well, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.” You admit.

“Well, I’m sure me and Lara can handle things from here.” Dorothea gives you a trusting grin. “Besides I would’ve gone myself. I don’t like the idea of Karla being left alone with her for too long.”

"Thanks, can you handle things here for me?" You sigh.

"Giving orders to an Admiral now?" Dorothea gives you a wry grin.

"Just a suggestion." You quickly make the save.

"I suppose." Dorothea grins smugly. "All right, off you go, then."

You give Dorothea a quick salute and dash out after the NUNS squad that was transporting the Red Ace. The Zentradi pilot was cuffed and had a bag thrown over her head as a half dozen NUNS soldiers dragged her away, with another half dozen heavily armed soldiers standing guard. Of course, taking the lead of this little operation was Karla herself.

"Oh, Captain, I see you've decided to tag along!" Karla smiles cheerfully at you. "Do you really want to talk to our rather... determined friend here so badly?"

"At least a face to face." You grunt. "She's caused a lot of trouble for my squad after all."

"Hmmm, well...." Karla pauses. "My opinion, but I think it'd be much safer once we get her to a proper holding facility. These uncultured Zentradi can be rather unpredictable after all!"

"There's nothing wrong with talking to her in the shuttle." You shrug.

"Well, all right..." Karla says with a warning tone as the two of you come up to the waiting shuttle.

The NUNS soldiers drag the Red Ace up the loading ramp and sit her down in one of the seats. You sit down opposite of her. Two NUNS soldiers flank her int he side seats. One of them puts a hand on the black bag over the Red Ace's head as the shuttle begins to lift off, and you nod to him.

However, the Red Ace was much more devious than you had anticipated. Once the hood comes off, all you see is a blob of dirty blonde hair and a pair of crimson eyes as the Zentradi girl lunges forward. Her arms are still bound, but she wasn't cuffed to the chair, allowing her to launch herself at you across the isle before the guards can react.

The Red Ace slams into you, her teeth gnashing and clicking and as she tries to bite your face off, her only recourse at trying to hurt you. You're not sure if she somehow recognizes you, or if you just happened to be the first person she saw to vent her anger on. Either way, it was taking all your effort just keeping her teeth off of your face or neck.

The guard are immediately on their feet, stun guns raised and ready. In this sort of situation, there was no guarantee that you wouldn't be hit along with the Red Ace if they opened fire.

Karla, however, just looks on with endless amusement.

You're only barely able to stop the Zentradi girl from biting your nose off by putting your hand up as a shield. Unfortunately, that mean she was biting your hand instead of your face. The preferable option, but is still hurt like hell as her teeth dug into your palm.

"Gah!" You grunt as you blood begins to drop all over your shirt. The Red Ace definitely wanted to fight.

Unfortunately, before the two of you can do anything, Karla apparently finally became bored at the whole situation and sighs loudly.

"All right, that's enough playtime. Sergeant, open fire."

They instantly respond, a half dozen electric shock rounds flying in. Thankfully, the guards' aim is good enough that none of the rounds hit you. Unfortunately, given your close combat with your attacker, you eat some of the electric shock as well.

The Red Ace shrieks as she takes the brunt of the stun blast and falls backwards, twitching on the floor. The guards was no time in pinning her down, gagging her, and pulling the black bag over her head again before setting her back on the seat, this time handcuffing her securely to the handrails.

"My my, she's certainly a spicy one, isn't she?" Karla chuckles as one of the soldiers helps provide first aid to your injured hand, wiping away the blood with a disinfecting wipe before bandaging it up. "Though I figured someone of your training could have easily handled her while she was restrained."

"I... really have no excuse." You sigh in defeat as you nurse your bitten hand.

"Haha, don't worry, I'll make sure to keep this highly embarrassing set of events a secret between us!" Karla winks. "As a favor, of course!"

"Gee, thanks." You grumble.

By this point, the shuttle had already reached the Pacifica. Upon landing, the squad of guards promptly pickup the Red Ace again. She immediately begins struggling at the sudden movement, but is quickly cowed when one of the guards jams a rifle butt into her stomach.

"Hm, what to do, what to do..." Karla muses as she walks down the shuttle loading ramp.

"Don't we have to run her through medical first?" You ask.

"Yeah, well..." Karla rolls her eyes. "The thing about that is that it takes really LONG. First we need to sedate her so she'll stay still for the procedures, and then we'll have to put her through quarantine..."

"Let's get a full medical scan, just in case." You say.

"Fine fiiiiine, if you want to stick to protocol." Karla sighs and rolls her eyes. She then waves at the guards and points in the direction of Medical.

Actually, now that you thought about it, you had never actually gone to Medical proper. Not like you had much reason to, honestly. After all, going there meant that something had to have gone pretty badly wrong.

Either way, you follow the procession of guards as they drag the Red Ace into Medical, catching the gathered nurses and orderlies off guard.

"Ah, a new patient!" The doctor in chase swivels around from her work chair. You saw she was tall, lean, and blonde, wearing the standard doctor's coat and having a bit of a predatory expression that reminds you a bit too much of Karla's. "A stray, too! I suppose we're going to do the full battery of tests."

"Of course." Karla nods and then points to you. "Our friend here also needs a bit of tender love as well!"

"Oh dear, that does look rather serious!" The doctor gasps and shuffles over to you. "Litner, Cams, prepare the sedatives! I'll see to our patient here!

As the guards hold the Red Ace down on the examination table while the nervous orderlies try to stick their syringes to her, the doctor sits you down and starts inspecting your hand, carefully peeling the bandage off.

"Oh dear, that's quite the nasty bite wound." The doctor tuts. "Not the worst thing I've seen a pilot bring through the door, though."

"Um thanks, doctor..."

"Just call me Natalia!" The doctor says warmly. "The Pacifica's chief medical officer!"

Natalia goes over the wound with a small penlight before nodding, dabbing more disinfectant on the wound before wrapping a fresh bandage on it.

"Well, just seems like a normal bite mark. No signs of infection, but I'll assign some antibiotics just to be sure." Natalia nods as she digs into a cabinet and tosses you a small orange pill container. "Just take two of those a day until you run out!"

"Um, thanks." You nod, a bit astonished at how quickly she had taken care of things.

"Now, on to the main show!" Natalia spins around to the Red Ace and you look up to see that she was not completely out cold, the two frazzled orderlies finally having been able to knock her out. The guards then begin undoing some of the restraints and begin cutting her clothes off so they could be properly processed and disposed of.

"Excellent! Then we can begin!" Natalia says happily. "You're free to leave if you want, this whole process is honestly quite boring!"

"Agreed." Karla adds in.

You call up the number and sure enough, you get connected to Michael's frequency.

"Well, doing well enough, I suppose." Michael replies. "But, well, I can't really personally attest to what's going on. I've only caught sight of them boarding the Quarter. It's not like I can enter Rin's room to see what they're doing."

"No, no, I understand." You sigh. "But everything's fine?"

"Of course." Michael assures you. "If anything happens, you'll be the first to know."

"Ah, thanks." You sigh as you hang up.

Well, guess you shouldn't be worried, but you still are, just a bit.

That's when your phone rings, and you pick it up only to hear Karla's voice.

"She'a rreeeeaaaady~!" She says in a singsong voice before hanging up.

You head over to the interrogation room, where you see that the Red Ace has already been prepped, having been securely restrained to a chair. The bag was gone, but the gag was still there, presumably as a precaution until it was actually time for her to talk.

You, Dorothea, and Karla were observing her through the observation window.

"Such a vicious little thing." Dorothea frowns as she watches the Red Ace's crazed eyes dart in all directions, breathing heavily through her gag. "I'm surprised you managed to restrain her like that."

"Yes, she's proven to be quite the handful." Karla nods. "Thankfully, the scans show no abnormalities besides some minor blood loss, bruises, and a couple of fractured ribs."

"I see." Dorothea nods. "So who shall lead the interrogation?"

"Well, about that..." Karla chuckles. "We haven't actually finalized that yet."

"Of course." Dorothea sighs.

>You should do it. You're kind of rivals, after all. It could provoke a reaction from her.

"Admiral, I think you should go in." You say to Dorothea.

"M-me?" She blinks in surprise. "Why would you think that I would make a good candidate?"

"Well, Zentradi are a warrior race, and they respect strength the most." You explain. "Since you were the one who decked her and knocked her out in one hit, she may be more inclined to talk to you than anybody else."

"He does bring up a good point." Karla smiles. "It might be our most efficient option."

"If that's the case..." Dorothea looks at the restrained Red Ace again and sighs. "Then I suppose I'll do it. I'd rather not be in there alone with her, though."

"Oh? Concerned?" Karla raises an eyebrow.

"Cautious." Dorothea replies simply.

"Right, right." Karla shrugs. "I'll be watching from here, then. Have at it, you two!"

With that, Dorothea takes a deep breath to collect herself and then opens the door. The Red Ace's eyes dart to the sudden movement, and she sees both you and Dorothea enter.

You see the Red Ace about to try and break out of her seat, but Dorothea's equally hard stare seems to keep her in place, at least for now. The Red Ace visibly calms down, but still eyes the two of you warily. Dorothea seats down on the opposite end of the table while you lean on the glass window behind her, ready to jump in when needed.

"Now, how about we get this started?" Dorothea says calmly. "I know you can understand what we're saying, so don't try to play ignorant. Is that clear?"

The only response is heavy breathing and an angry glare.

"Good, I'll take that as assent." Dorothea says as she clasps her hands together. "First things first, my name is Dorothea. I'm the admiral of this fleet. Could I have your name?"

The Red Ace mumbles something.

"Excuse me?" Dorothea raises an eyebrow.

"Designation CL-298496." The Red Ace says simply, as if the phrase had been hard coded into her brain.

"Is that so?" Dorothea sighs. "Perhaps we should call you something a bit... easier to remember."

CL-298496 continues to stare at Dorothea, while occasionally shooting short glances at you.

"CL...." Dorothea thinks on it for a moment. "How about we just call you Cole, for now?"

CL remains silent, but doesn't make any protest.

"All right, Cole it is, then." Dorothea nods. "Are you part of the fleet that is attacking this asteroid field?"

Cole nods.

"Can you tell me why you're attacking this area?"

Cole shakes her head.

"Can you tell me anything about your fleet composition?"

Cole shakes her head.

"Do not try to play dumb or coy with me." Dorothea narrows her eyes. "Just because you're note speaking doesn't mean I can't tell you're lying."

"I want to see her." Cole grunts.

"See who?" Dorothea asks.

"The singing girl." Cole replies simply. "The one who sings loudly and powerfully. I want to hear her again."

Dorothea raises an eyebrow and turns to you. You both know very well who Cole is referring to.

And you're pretty sure Karla smile just got a little wider behind that observation glass.

You shake your head ever so slightly. It couldn't be done. Even if Amy were actually on the ship, you weren't going to risk her safety.

Dorothea nods and turns back to Cole.

"You know we can't do that. You might try to hurt her."

You see Cole's body tense up at the words, as if she were offended at that accusation.

"However..." Dorothea taps her finger on the table. "If you were to answer one of our questions as a show of good faith, we may considering letting our singer visit you in the future."

Cole's eyes light up like a puppy's. She was definitely taking the bait.

"Tell us why you're attacking this asteroid field." Dorothea says, turning back to Cole. "Why do the Zentradi hold such an interest here?"

"...resources." Cole says simply.

"Resources?" Dorothea raises an eyebrow.

"Ore. Minerals. Fold Quartz. All of it is needed." Cole says simply. "The Star Forge has a new master now, and the Forge must be fed."

"Star Forge?" Dorothea raises an eyebrow. "New master?"

"I only had to answer one question." Cole grunts as she crosses her arms, looking more like a disobedient child than a captured soldier. "Fulfill your end of the deal first."

"Damn..." Dorothea seethes.

You lean down and whisper in Dorothea's ear.

"Maybe you can win her over. Charm her or something."

"What?!" Dorothea hisses back at you. "W-what is that even supposed to mean?!"

"Just be nice to her!" You grunt. "Cole's still an uncultured Zentradi, so her social abilities are pretty much zero. Maybe you can confuse her enough that she'll start talking!"

"I suppose it's worth a try..." Dorothea concedes.

"How about this." Dorothea leans over with the best smile she can manage. "If you just tell me a little more, I'll let you have some ice cream."

"Ice... cream?" Cole frowns, the term completely alien to her tongue.

"It's a delicacy we humans enjoy." Dorothea nods. "It's very cold, soft, and sweet. I think you'd like it."

"Hmmm..." Cole hesitates, but is clearly quite intrigued.

"The Star Forge... it has been claimed by Warmaster Kahl. It is his possession now." Cole explains. "And with his victory, the three squabbling fleets are now one."

Dorothea's expression suddenly goes dark.

"And this Star Forge... what makes it special from the other factory satellites?" She asks.

"Because it is said it holds the secrets to rebuilding the stars." Cole says with utter conviction. "Data and technology that was lost to our fleets generations ago."

"...Reaction weapons." Dorothea goes pale. "The Star Forge can mass produce reaction warheads?"

Cole nods.

You can feel an icy hand grip your heart as well. Reaction weapons were some of the most destructive weapons ever utilized by NUNS, second only to dimensional weaponry. A large part of why humanity was able to prevail over larger Zentradi fleets was due to humans being able to manufacture reaction weapons while they were all but a lost technology to the Zentradi. If they could find a way to start building them again...

Well this war had taken a sudden and very concerning turn.
