You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

Today you are going out into the city with Marianne; it is her treat so maybe it’ll help lift your mood. Staying the castle is doing your head in, considering the embarrassment you suffered in front of all those hundreds, it’ll be nice to get away from the place to clear your head of the gnawing memories. Nicolette and you have not run into each other since the affair. That is by your design. You know she did not mean to shame you before of all those people, but at the same time, you can’t yet get over it. Maybe you should get her something as an apology because without a doubt it is you who have reacted very unreasonably.

>Guard Rank: SNAKE
>Congratulations, you are now a miserable Snake!
>You might be a more respectable creature than a lowly Lizard, but you're still nothing special.
>Though you've shown some traits of "people," the Princess still doesn't see you as one.
>She dislikes you a bit less now, though

It is early morning. You are dressed in the more casual clothes given to you. But they are still anything but informal. Your black shirt screams a man of some rank, it wraps around your chest loosely. Looking like some commoner would not be fitting of Princess Marianne’s company. Acting your best and looking your best is the only proper thing to do in such a situation.

At the gate to the keep, you meet her dressed in a much more relaxed outfit. No longer is she wearing a flowing gown extolling her position, now she is wearing a conservative blue and white dress. You wonder if it is her or the outfit that captivates you. Without a doubt she will get many looks from the men, you just hope she doesn’t notice you gawking.

Next to the princess stands a carriage of modest size compared to some you have seen stored here, which two staff member are finishing off. It must be to make the pair of you look inconspicuous rather than causing a crowd to build up at your very arrival. The carriage is drawn by two immaculate white horses standing proud and to attention.
>>
You greet the princess and she greets you in turn.

Waiting for the carriage you talk to Marianne about what?

“Marianne, what sort of security information should I know about the trip? How safe is it? Have you ever been attacked before? Stuff like that.” You query her.

“You need not worry. I have never been attacked before. I haven’t even been recognised before when I’ve been without my father. You see I’ve got this bracelet which causes those who do not know me, on any small personal level, to not be able to recognise me.” She tells you pointing at a gold bracelet around her wrist. “If I was to tell someone who I am it stops working on them. So unless I meet someone who I already know, no one will take note of us.”

“Well, that’s quite useful. Do you go out into the city much?”

“My father would probably say so, I but I feel like I don’t get out half as much as I would like. My last guard didn’t enjoy these outing much so that only lead to them being decreased further. They were never the girls' trip out my father hoped for.”

One the servants comes up to inform you that the carriage is ready to take you on your trip. They wish Marianne and you a good journey. So you open the door and offer the princess a hand up the step. With a delicate grace, you feel her palm meeting yours as she takes your hand and enters the carriage. Following after her, you plop down on to one of the soft seats.

You wear a happy grin, you’ve never travelled in such style before, so you are going to make sure you treasure the experience. Looking out the window to your right gives you a view of the royal engineers working on some ambitious project. It is far too early to imagine what it is for, but by the size of the base, you can tell it is going to be a grand structure.

Glancing back at Marianne you are welcomed by an even better site. Unlike the engineering project, you fight a battle look away from her. But you often fail; your eyes keep dancing back to her form. As you are sitting opposite to her it is only natural, right? Even if the city folk doesn’t recognise her, she will still cause quite a stir. You wonder if she is enchanted by some spell to be so beautiful. You’ve never seen any commoner look half as appealing as her. Best not to ask.

At this point, you’ve been traveling for ten minutes and a word hasn’t been said. Are you being rude or does she want peace? Her eyes are still glued to the window. It might be that she loves the sight the rolling hills and the tenant farms working while the children playing merrily out front. Finding a small smile growing on your lips you look at her, trying to decide if you should talk to Marianne. A small grin is reflected on her face, wondering to yourself you ponder if she wants kids. She is old enough for marriage and the rest now.

Ask if she likes kids
>>
Choosing to engage her, you ask, “They are cute aren’t they?”

“What? The kids… I love their merriment. I love how they always seem to be enjoying their time. They are so cute and adorable. I mean it would be odd for a girl not to like them. Right?” She says hand reaching to her golden bun of hair.

“There is a simple joy to them I suppose.” You reply.

After that the conversation lulls, feeling that you shouldn't try to force a conversation you stop. It would not please her if you continue to blabber out rubbish to simply pass the time.

“Reinhold when we get there please call me Marie. I don’t think that announcing our presence would make our trip the most enjoyable.”

A short while later you arrive in the city. It is much as you remember it, noble, ambitious and dignified. Cathedrals spires erupt from the houses and shops filling the street. The horses lead you into the city centre, to a station with a few other more gaudy carriages.

Exiting first, you once again offer a hand to the princess as she descends out of the carriage.

“So Reinhold, first we will go to the bookshop. I hear there’s a sequel to a book I enjoyed very much. So I will see if they have that in stock then we can go to where ever you want. Sounds good to you?” Your beautiful companion asks from your side.

“Whatever would make you happy Marie.”

She gives you a sigh and escorts you to the bookshop. It is situated in an alley off any of the main paths. Due to the walls towering in their vastness a shadow is a spewed over the old building. The shop is made from a time before you were long before you were born. You suspect it was here when the defences were only half as high. Timber beams exposed and weathered, names and symbols carved in.

Her hand drags you into the tired building. Passing through the creaky door, you are received by an older man. Around fifty you guess, his belly is big and his smile is jolly.

“Hello there. Why you two are a gorgeous couple. It’s not often that I see a young duo come on a date here. Is there anything I can do to help? Or are you just browsing” He says while gesturing to the walls lined with books.

You could tease Marianne by claiming you are a couple. It would make sense from a cover story perspective. But she could either be unamused and unaffected by the effort. She did invite you out here to reward you. It may not be best to test her mood, nor would it be polite.

"No, no, no we are just old friends. Enjoying a day together after so long." You splutter out.

Marianne nods to you, “Thank you, Reinhold. I will look for the book myself. Please look around to see if anything catches your eye.”

With that, she leaves you alone to find a book for yourself. There are two real sections that you are interested in right now, the magic section and military history.

First, you glance across the history section as it is much larger than the magic one. You imagine that this is because of the scarcity of magic tomes. Also that they are far from common or cheap. The history section is long and contains many the tales of many kingdoms, some dead and gone. Their people now scattered to the wind.

The bookshelf is littered with mainly red and green spines with titles penned in yellow ink. Walking to the section containing the history of your own kingdom, Granache. Due to it being the one most relevant to the locals, the section is by far the largest. You expect many tales there to be filled with half-truths and exaggerations to paint a more poetic image of the kingdom. Not that it needs to increase the prestige of its history. There are many situations where the glory of the kingdom has been true and championed by a real hero.

Pulling out a book, you scan the blurb that describes the scholar-king, the one you presume it is the one depicted in the library. While it sounds interesting you decide against it, you want to see if there are any magic books here.

“Excuse me, sir, I didn’t catch your name.” You call out to the shopkeeper.

“It’s Tom, can I help you?”

“Yes, I’m looking for a book of magic.”

“This way, it’s where I keep the expensive stuff. In a cupboard away from any grubby hands. Other than my own that is.”

You follow him to a glass cabinet with a sparing few books. Certainly there is much space for him to build up a collection. Eyes darting to the cover of each of the twelve titles covered in esoteric runes, you are disappointed to find that not one is for the darkness precept. Meaning sadly none will benefit you in your own study.

Returning to the princess you find her crouched, reading through some book that has caught her attention.

“You find what you are looking for?”

She lets out an eeep in shock.

“Yes, yes Reinhold I have. You do know it’s rude to sneak up on a lady” Her face blushed as she pats herself down with one hand, the other holding the book.

“Let us be on our way.” She tells you after paying for the book which she has managed to keep out of your view. Thinking to yourself you chuckle that even she has some guilty pleasures.

“Reinhold, this was a trip meant for you. Where do you want to go? I was thinking about taking you someplace where you can indulge yourself in some hobby. I thought it would be only right to get you something to make living with me more enjoyable.”

You want to learn music. Music unites all qualities: it can exalt us, divert us, cheer us up, or break the hardest of hearts with the softest of its melancholy tones. But its principal task is to lead our thoughts to higher things, to elevate, even to make us tremble… The musical art often speaks in sounds more penetrating than the words of poetry, and takes hold of the most hidden crevices of the heart… Song elevates our being and leads us to the good and the true. There is no other art that can rival the impact onto human emotions; none other can get a man to dance, to jump up. Music exacerbates feelings to a height no other can match.

Entering the store the walls are decorated with instruments of all kinds. Light bouncing off the brass metal on show. Walking around the place you are lost on what to try, you are overloaded with options. That is until a fine flute catches your eye. You know what sound it makes. On the battlefield, you’ve heard it before. Yes, you want that flute. It will remind you of the battles you fought and friends you lost. You will try to share the feeling with the all that will listen to you.

Marie noticing your enamourment with the item she calls over a clerk, “Hello, I wish to purchase that flute for my friend. It is the finest you have right? Also, I’d like the best instruction books for him too.”

He quickly rushes off to grab as many of the expensive books he can find. He puts them in a bag containing a box holding your flute. She gives him a hefty amount of gold coins, easily covering his week's wages.

“Hope you enjoy your gift. Maybe if you get good enough, so that one day I’ll get you to play for me.” Marie calls back to you leaving the door open as you exit the building.

“Thank you very much, Marie.”

“I’m sure you are starving Reinhold, all the men I know are constantly famished. But then they are all big guys.” She points out to a cream coloured building with a painting of a cake on a board outside.

Strolling inside you see a larger woman behind the counter wearing an apron. The counter is filled with small meals behind the glass. In one arm she is holding what looks to be a very young child blanketed in a blue quilt, which she is rocking gently.

“Ah Marie, good to see you. You’ve finally got yourself a boyfriend; I’ve always said you have the beauty to rival a princess.” Marianne blushes but does not fight the accusation, she cares not for the slight. Instead, she stares at the child in the woman's arms.

“Wow, you finally delivered Emma. Everything is well I take it? He is healthy? What is his name?” Still watching the child rock in his mother’s arm, with her sapphire eyes.

“Everything went fine do you want to hold him? Marie’s beau do you wish to order?”
>>
She cautiously passes the child your Marie’s gentle arm whilst you order a lamb and mint pie. Also two cups of tea. Looking at Marianne to ask her what she wants, you find her wearing a smile rivalling any you’ve seen before in mirth. Her blond hair flows down her back as she gazes into the babies face. Not being the only one looking at her, the baby reaches up with stubby pink arms as gurgles merrily.

“Don’t worry I’ll get Marie her usual,” Emma tells you as you take a table for two. After a moment Emma takes her child back from Marianne. Her face still glowing in thinking about the interaction with the new-born.

Emma returns with a tray holding a kettle, a small jug of milk, two cups, and a sandwich. She places all the items on your table.

“Nice to meet you I’m Emma. I hope you are a good man for my little princess over here?” To that Marianne glares at you, her face scarlet.

You chuckle nervously, “Haha, no. We are only friends.”

“Well, it looks like you have money and looks. If you’ve also got a good personality in tow then I think Marie here might a little one for herself. So I think you should go for it.”

Marianne face screws up, looking as if she wants to slap you. She is not sure what the proper response is and the best way to vent the torment she is under. Sensing that this could go ugly, you hurriedly say, “Please don’t tease her too much, really we are just good friends rather than anything more.”

You pour Marianne and yourself a cup of tea as Emma gets back to her child. Whilst eating the delicious pie you apologise to her and tell her not to care too much what others joke about. It is clear that Emma doesn’t mean to upset her.

Calming down at the end of her meal she asks, “So do you want to go see the play with me today or have you had enough of this outing?”

The day is starting to get late but that doesn’t mean the day has to end here. You’ve never seen a play before and it could be interesting.

Opulent is the first word that springs to mind as you view the large theatre. Marianne explains who she is and that you two wish to watch the play to a receptionist. The usher greets the both of you and takes you to the royal box. He tells Marianne he hopes that she will enjoy the play as much as she did last time.

In the box you can see over everyone in the theatre but they can’t watch you, it must have been designed with privacy in mind. In the box are two luxurious seats which you comfortably slip into. Marianne does much the same.

Soon after the lights dim around the stage and two figures stroll onto it from behind a curtain. The play is fun, the story seems basic so far but there is nothing wrong with that. You’ve not heard a complaint out of Marianne’s mouth so it’s going all good on that front. To say the room theatre is comfortable is an understatement, the room is a warm temperature, it is dark and the seats are divine.

It seems to be about a young knight being falsely blamed for a crime he has not committed so he decides to bring vengeance on the king who abandoned him. By dressing up as some other person, you didn’t catch who it was meant to be, he will trick the king’s daughter into falling in love with him. Then running away with her and blackmailing the king for his daughter back. But there seems to be one snag in his plan. He fell in love with her back, it is very predictable but you aren’t here for some epic.

Then you notice a head resting upon your right shoulder and a gentle snore arises from it. Keeping still you don’t want to disturb the golden hair draped down your chest.

“M-Marianne?...”

No reply greets you. You have the heir to the thrown sleeping on your shoulder.

Leaving her would be the best option. If she’s tired she needs a rest, she is only a small soul. You can feel every breath she takes, you can hear them. It’s comforting; it feels like the little sister you’ve never had. In time your own breath synchronises with her. They are deep breaths, tiring ones. It would be so right to join her in sleep. That fire that constantly burns inside you is gone. The pseudo-paternal intimacy washes all insecurities you have inside that knaw at you.

With a yawn, the blond angel awakens. By this point the play is finished, it finished a while ago but you wanted to keep that little moment going.

“Reinhold?” She asks while still in a daze, she slovenly looks around the room. “Is it over? I’m sorry I fell asleep, it took me ages last night.”

Still in her trance, she sits up straight and then stands up. Diminutively she calls to you, “If it’s over then can we go outside for a bit of fresh air. I think I need some to wake me up.”

“Of course, let’s go.”

You are one of the last people to leave and it seems to be closing up now. It is late; there is a large moon in the sky illuminating everything not bound in a coat darkness. The cold winds bites into Marianne shocking her to full alert. Her arms wrap her chest to conserve some heat. At this point you are walking back to the carriage, “Marie” is worn out, and you don’t want to make the poor thing suffer.

Then what you feared came true. Some drunk seems to be stumbling toward you and the princess. His clothes are ragged as is his scruffy facial hair, but there is a brawn to him that proves he is not without money. You are a tall lad, you have always been tall. While not the largest there has ever been, you have found a challenge in meeting people to equal your height or greater until this last week. He is taller, his physicality matches Chris.

“Hey, there beautiful why don’t you come with a real man instead of those arsey nobles?” He spits out through yellow teeth.

One arm wraps around Marianne's waist and pulling her closer to you. The other hovers around the hilt of your sword that is at your belt.

“Move on or I will kill you.” You spit out, she is your ward. Never would you let filth that wallows in the gutter of society happily, while their soul rots, touch her.

The sound of a whip and a thump strikes in over too your right a couple hundred meters away. You can’t look away from him to the origin, but it was not towards your direction.

“Aren’t you touchy? I can’t help it, I just think of all the stuff I could do with her little body.” He giggles as he steps closer.

She is yours. You will not allow this bandit to touch her. She, for a moment, froze the hate in your heart. She is a loner like you. The both of you are kindred in their deficiencies. Crippling loneliness has been a prevalent theme in both your lives. He will no despoil her.

Your fist strikes out and catches him. He is no ready for you assault and is taken completely by surprise. Hit head bounces back from the first blow. Then from the second and third. During this, you hear more small explosions in the background. He slips onto the floor face bloody, nose broken and a big grin on his mug.

“I guess you do have a pair after all. For a prissy fuck. But I’m taking her either way.” Claims the ugly man who is now back on his feet.

His flesh rips and tears, muscle and fat burst through his skin. A terrible scream rips through his lips. His exposed meat inflates and grows. The man falls to the floor blood spurting from his wreck of a body. Then his skin reknits itself around the “man”, containing all his new form. Dark hairs sprout over his exposed flesh. His clothes are long since torn, discarded on the floor. His ears grow; jaw elongates and becomes a terrible jaw. His scream is met by others and has turned into a howl.

He is wrong. His appearance is an assault on your eyes. It makes your brain scream. His form is madness; it is one of the destroyer. He towers over you, now nine feet tall. His mouth is filled with serrated blades and in each digit materialise a wicked black claw, all longer than any knife. You have felt this before in that cave, but that was worse than this thing. It is only a pup in any true comparison. Steadying yourself you raise your sword and prepare to fight.

It launches at you with an inhuman speed to which you can barely keep up. Pushing Marianne out of the oncoming werewolf’s charge you roll out the way but blocking his advance on the princess with your own body. Screams echo in the distance, many of them. They are joined with more howls of glee.

I'll explain the dice. Each successful roll over the DC (which I will never show you) gives you one success. Rolling a 20 gives you two. But 1s take away a success. The more success you do the more damage.
>>
>>2519677
well, at least it wasn't a net failure.
>>
>>2519679
Don't worry about the system. Just think the better you roll the harder you hit. I'm using excel to do it all desu
>>
You are entwined in a lethal brawl with a sword and claws striking at each other. Aiming for his neck you strike, he dodges another blow.

Darkness flows from the shadows which permeate the night, onto your blade. Sharpening it to slice through the thick hide. Making every blow of yours more deadly.

This is followed by a swift retort by two claws scything at your warded shirt. Your wardrobe must be worth a small fortune. Not anymore, the claws burry into your stomach and cleaves out muscle and fat, after turning your magical shirt to ribbons. The smell of blood permeates throughout the air but it isn’t just yours.

Landing a fierce blow to one of the monsters arms blood explodes out. The darkness shoots into the exposed flesh to do further damage. Turning the slice wound into a small into a small crater. Blood leaps onto both you and the princess. Marring her features with the creatures foul ichor. But the wound starts to mend itself. It’s refusal to die translates into regeneration. The wounds aren’t instantly healed but ever second longer you carry on this fight the worse it’ll be for you.

Jumping back at him you cleave like a madman, but even with the werewolf’s frenzied technique is can easily avoid your follow up blows with its incredible speed.

Its face is unreadable, you can’t tell if it is consumed by the scorching rage you are. Alien to you in every way.

Magic failing, the darkness slips off your blade. The symphony of perfection that sings to you in a heavenly chorus when you wield magic is gone. All that is left is pain and a ringing in your ears.

That will not stop you, you do not need magic to end this hellspawn. Stabbing forward you sink your blade into his leg. Pulling it back out for yet another blow he grabs the blade. Refusing you any more games. You are the beasts’ prey and it will end you. The Werewolf bats you into the side of a building. Pouncing on your prone form, both claws slam down onto your torso shredding through your flesh and bone.

Marianne screams, “Reinhold!” In a panic from your defeat.

Blood flowing from the massive cavity which once was your chest. What is remaining of your shirt is now slick in your own blood. The creature snarls at you, sensing your death coming soon. It gets up leaving you in your own crimson puddle filled with meat chunks he ripped out. He knows you are dead, you know it too.

Marianne is on her knees with a hand covering her mouth, paralyzed in fear. Running wouldn’t save her; she cannot compete with that thing.

You can’t die like this, not nameless on some shitty road failing your people, your princess. Red consumes your vision. Rejecting an easy death you pull your shattered form to one knee.

So, in regards to the boon we could receive, Speed and Blade are most appealing, in that they will allow us to make more attacks or bypass armor. This appeals to me.

Body isn't so bad, either, but I figure we could just as well train our bodies to be more resilient.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IKddfxkDWk

He is limping closer, one step at a time toward your ward. YOURS! The wounds he is enduring are grievous but are slowly reknitting from the torn flesh. Every second you are closer to death and he is getting stronger.

Marianne finally picks up the courage to run. She is not the most athletic. Turning from the beast she breaks out into a sprint but is foiled by the uneven road, causing her to trip. She is sprawled out on the floor, with bruises from her impact. The beast lets out a pained but amused snort at her failure.

The abomination’s arms reach out towards her, to do what you can’t say. But you will not have this; he will die where he stands.

You bring an arm back and a spear of darkness rises from your palm. There are small arcs of purple lighting dancing off your creation. Sound is distorted as if timed slowed. Arm shooting forward you release the weapon. It hurtles forward into the chest of the fiend. Hitting him in the side of his great torso, it cleaves through the rest of his body. Leaving a hole wider than the spear that pierced him.

The bolt knocks him off his feet. No longer is his regeneration working now the majority of his organs are eviscerated. Crumpling to the floor the werewolf lies dead. With the last of your energy and possibly blood expended, you follow suit.

All that you can feel is the darkness. All you can see is the darkness. All you can hear is silence. You wonder if you are dead. If it is so then at least you didn’t fail. Giving off a soft murmur you say, “This blood I bleed, I bleed for you.”

You chose Body in the end. So you got that sweet regen that might keep you alive. For the next month or two, I won't be able to run every week. So I might do a thread every other weekend or it might turn into a hiatus. Not sure yet.

What did you think about today's session?
>>
>>2520001
That we are apparently made of fail. Also, not sure about the challenge rating for the sort of enemies we're coming across.
>>
>>2520001
It was pretty ok. I do have a question regarding our Dark Powers.

If we are able to train them up to an expert degree, would it be possible to use our powers the same way Jackie Estacado does in the The Darkness?
>>
>>2520022
as tentacles?
>>
>>2520025
Ripping people in half, using it to enhance our strength to break hard materiels.

And of course the tentacles.
>>
>>2520016
Yea this is our first real fight and it's kinda nuts. Also the king never trained Marianne to be an adventurer this time around?
>>
>>2520022
>Jackie Estacado does in the The Darkness?
that would be fantastic. carnivorous prehensile tentacle creatures, body armor made of darkness.
>>
>>2520016
Werewolves are meant to be fuck off scary, if it didn't crit you I reckon you could have won. But it would have been hard. It was meant to be hard.

>>2520022
Get strong enough and you can shred castles. That is at magic level 5 (the only person you know who is this level is the king). You have just leveled up to three, so you are able to do that darkness thing right now. That is if you weren't face first into the cobbled road.
>>
>>2520036

>>
>>2520040
Huh, neat. Well, now what we have to do for training is increase our endurance and fortitude so we can tank shit better.
>>
>>2520040
Oh, so we leveled up. Cool. I mean, I kind get that anons are concerned about the difficulty. This is the daughter of The King though. At least this time around we wen't against something that should be credible, instead of a guy we already beat that suddenly got a mystical sword that shouldn't exist.
>>
>>2520049
Well since we now know we're capable of pulling it off, we can do it the next time we land our ass into combat.

>>2520053
Since Werewolves exist, I wonder if Vampires do too.

Also about the difficulty now you are almost as strong as a werewolf and have the same HP(ish), due to body. Combining that with magic you should be able to solo them now. I made this hard to give a sense of growth and progression.
>>
>>2520064
Hmmm. How far away from The Darkness are we, lineage wise? Curious.
>>
>>2520064
For me it feels undeserved. Or at least too early. We literally went from pit fight to werewolf.

Throwing an adult red dragon at my level 3 pc and then giving me 10 levels when I die doesn't really feel like progression. I'm not trying to nitpick and I do like the quest but the pacing feels rushed.
>>
>>2520064
Well I can safely say I'm liking what I've witnessed so far, especially from hearing how the original version of this quest made the MC completely useless.

That also reminds me, would it be possible to aid the princess in basic defensive training? Unless of course she's already trained in that then would it be possible to teach her more advanced techniques?
>>

>>
>>2522240
Citrine was a prostitute that Reinhold befriended and they looked out for each other. She eventually escaped that life by marrying a famous artist.

Volker is a Nobleman who first taught Reinhold how to use a sword. The sword Reinhold currently uses belonged to him. He had intended to adopt Reinhold and Citrine into his own family but died before he got the chance.

Incidentally, Reinhold's sword isn't magical or anything, it's just superbly well-made.

>>2523734
They gave good role-playing opportunities that didn't result in blatant waifufagging and allowed Reinhold to grow as a character.
>>
>>2523762
Cool
>>
Does anyone remember which element Sir Gregory was?
>>
Can we perhaps, fluff the Greater Reinhold has now with the infection of the werewolf disease? Maybe link it to his anger, to further reinforce his fatal flaw.
>>
>>2527661
Lycanthropy is genetic. You could try becoming more like a werewolf by eating werewolves hearts (bit like the mage generation thing). If you do so you will gain bonuses to your regen/natural armour/strength/HP. But each heart of a mage/werewolf you eat will leave a portion of their soul inside of you.
>>
>>2527752
So in other words we might end up with split personalities or schizophrenia or worse because of that? Sounds like a good reason to not go through with it unless we got no choice.
Now that I think about it, would a alchemist be able to make use of a werewolf corpse?
>>
>>2527841
>So in other words we might end up with split personalities or schizophrenia or worse because of that? Sounds like a good reason to not go through with it unless we got no choice.
Yeah, I want to make it something you have to think about rather than consuming every heart you come across. So, if you feel overpowered in a situation you might have to take on this curse to be able to win the day. Or if you think the power in simply worth the risk for a more mighty creature/mage.
>Now that I think about it, would a alchemist be able to make use of a werewolf corpse?
Yes, they like collecting more intact beings to create golems with them.
>>
>>2527872
What are the limitations of Alchemy in this game's setting?
>>
>>2527906
>Limitations
They are limited by their ingredients. Magic is more powerful and flexible. But only life magic can heal apart from potions, so there is quite the market for alchemists and ingredients.
>>
>>2527936

Can we only user Darkness Magic or can we use magic from other elements like in the original quest? (Sorry if someone already asked this.)
>>
>>2529734
Magicians are basically half elementals. The gods agreed each one was allowed only one original mage. So the first mage for each element is the strongest. Magic is passed down through family, each generation is weaker than the last. So the lower generation you are, the higher potential you have. You can decrease generation by eating a stronger mages heart, but this means you take part of their soul into you. You can do this to other mages of different elements to acquire their power but it is frowned upon and can be disastrous.

So yes you can acquire the power over other elements but it is far from easy.
>>
>>2529876
Also magicians turned into the nobility and the thinning of the blood has got the ruling class worried about revolution in the future when their descendants powers are almost nonexistent.
>>
>>2529876
>>2529890
