In a time of global conflict, the elite international task force Overwatch was formed. Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities: together, they ended the Omnic Crisis and restored peace to a war-torn world. For a generation, the heroes of Overwatch protected the world, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery.

After many years, Overwatch became troubled, and was finally disbanded by official U.N. order. Soon world conflict and terror rose again. Governments weakened by strife ceded power to mega-corporations. Militaries were replaced by private security forces. Some omnics returned to war with humanity; others remained peaceful, but faced fear and violence from humans affected by the war. The global crime syndicate Talon, in the absence of their perpetual rivals, rose to vast wealth and power, pushing entire nations into chaos.

You are a young man who's been many things: adventurer, treasure hunter, freedom fighter, and international criminal. But before all that, you dreamed of helping defend the world with Overwatch. When you encountered Tracer on that fateful night and agreed to help her rebuild, you didn't quite realize what you were getting yourself into. Joining as the first new recruit of the reborn team, you soon found yourself as unofficial leader in coalition with Athena, apparently the world's only benevolent Mind.

In the weeks since then, you, Tracer, and your new friends have travelled the globe, recruiting former agents and newcomers to the cause, and doing what you can to protect the citizens of Earth from the forces of chaos, oppression, and war. Although most people don't realize it yet, Overwatch has returned. But against Talon, Anubis, and the allied megacorps, is one small team of vigilantes really enough?

The world needs heroes, and you're trying to be one of them.

Previously on Overwatch Quest:
After escaping from the nightmare form of Reaper and a close encounter with the awe-inspiring Junker Queen, you were able to make a narrow escape from Junkertown, having broken the alliance between the outback wastelanders and their Talon patrons by exposing Talon's plot of betrayal. In the process, you were able to thin the ranks of Talon's allies even further, convincing the infamous thieves Junkrat and Roadhog to work as mercenaries for you instead of Talon, and asking them nicely not to blow anything up until then. You also managed to find a connection with the hacker Sombra as well, reminiscing about your adventures in anti-corporate theft together, teaming up against Reaper's monstrous form, and finally allowing her to leave unharmed. Perhaps she'll repay you the favor someday.

Lucio's Final Concert

A few weeks before Australia
Soundtrack: Lucio -- Rejuvenescência
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEuCcywh12Q

The concert is harmony in chaos, a vast sea of people jumping in unison to the rhythms of bone-shaking bass being pumped from gigantic speakers. Great banks of lights scintillate in hypnotic patterns and dazzling arrays. In the center of it all is the DJ podium where Lúcio Correia dos Santos, the now-famous freedom fighter, is in his element. The music flows, a pulsing beat of harmony, a euphonic melody of freedom. The people are hyped. Every track change causes not only the tones of the music to shift but a roar of approval from the crowd as Lucio tunes into another primal vibration. "Woo! Amp it up!" Lucio calls out to the crowd, caught up in the energy. "If you like that one, I know you're gonna love this one!"

You push your way through the massively crowded dance floor, everything lit up in shades of green and yellow. You're in full gear, but you don't even look out of place. This is one of the biggest raves in human history, and people are wearing weird shit you wouldn't believe if you weren't looking at it right now. Your helmet has good noise cancellers but you can feel the bass in your bones.

If you weren't working, this would be a great concert.

"Check in, fellas," you say over the team radio.

Genji says, "Rooftop remains clear."

Mei says, "I haven't seen anything. Sorry!"

Tracer adds, "Nothing here either."

"All right, keep your eyes open. Athena said the chance she calculated for Talon to go after our man here was pretty damn high. If they took out Lucio out tonight, in front of everyone, at the climax of his concert tour, not only would they be killing a man, but they'd be undoing all the work he's done."

Over the course of his world tour Lucio has consistently given a message of unity, to stand together and stay strong against the troubles of the world. With terrorism and crime in major cities, oppression at the hands of the megacorps, and the Second Omnic Crisis looming on the horizon, the people have needed someone to raise their spirits. To remind them of hope. That there are things worth fighting for.

If Lucio takes a sniper bullet on that stage, it'll all be for nothing.

Athena says, "The only reliable course of action to ensure agent Lucio's safety would have been to cancel the concert entirely."

"Sorry, Miss A," Tracer says. "I know you don't like it, but this concert had to go through. There's a million people here! Imagine how disappointed all these folks would be!"

"That and he point-blank refused to cancel," you say, "Sorry, Athena. Like it or not, humans think with their guts, not with their brains."

"I will assume you mean instict and emotion and not your internal organs."

"Don't worry, we've got this," you say while noticing an icon on your helmet's HUD. Incoming call? What the hell? "Everyone just stick to the plan, and the moment you see anything that looks like a Talon agent, holler out. Going offline for a second here." You switch frequencies. "Hello?"

"Bonsoir, ma petite mouche," you hear a certain woman say in a now-familiar voice. Silk smooth. Ice cold. "Are you pleased with the show?"

"Widowmaker. I was afraid you'd be here tonight. I don't suppose you're here to enjoy some tunes?"

"You know why I'm here," she tells you with an edge of cruel amusement creeping into her voice. "It's up to you to stop me, ma petite mouche. But -- oh no? What if it's a trap?" She voices your thoughts precisely as you were thinking them, followed by a dark laugh. "You'd better decide quickly, non? That young man's life is in danger. Now, where are you in that crowd, my little fly?" She begins to recite an old poem. "Will you walk into my parlour, said the spider to the fly? 'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy ..."

You scan the upper floors of the nearby buildings, looking for a rifle barrel, a glowing red mask, something, anything. Nothing. Makes sense. She would know how to hide herself. You'll have to get up close and personal.

Flipping over to the team frequency, you say, "Heads up, guys. Widowmaker is on site, like we expected. Tracer, Mei, keep doing what you're doing searching for Talon agents. She's probably not alone. Athena, keep an eye on us from the sky. Genji, on me. We're going spider hunting."

You start to make your way out of the press of the giant crowd. While you're doing that, you switch frequencies back. You can be a smug poetry-quoting cunt too.

"Oh no, no! To ask me is in vain." You exit the crowd and look up at the rooftops, trying to guess where Widow might be hiding. "For who goes up your winding stair can never come down again."

"I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high," Widow's voice purrs in your ear. "Will you rest upon my little bed? There are pretty curtains drawn around, the sheets are fine and thin. And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in.”

Genji joins you at your side. You point to him and to the rightmost building you think Widowmaker might be hiding in, and then to yourself and the leftmost building, and indicate you should sweep through and meet in the middle. Genji nods and dashes off, disappearing into shadows.

“Oh no, no,” you say as you quickly break into the left building and the stairwell. Using your magnetic boots and Mercy's wings, you ascend up the empty space between stairs. A winding stair you might never come down again. How appropriate. “For I've often heard it said, they never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!”

Kicking open the door to the rooftop, you find you got lucky on your first try. Either that, or she wanted you to find her. Widowmaker is lying on her stomach at the edge of the roof and looking into the scope of her rifle, presumably with Lucio in her sights. You take a split second to appreciate her magnficent figure in that position, her ass raised slightly, perfectly defined in her tight bodysuit. Then you shake it off. Keep your head in the game here, Seeker. Can't afford to be seduced by the enemy, even if she does have the most amazing ass you've ever seen.

A thought occurs: so that Mook Quest crosses over with this Overwatch Quest at certain points, seeing as Seeker is involved whenever Mook is around, right? Does that mean eventually we'll see the other side of the battles, with Seeker having to deal with Mook's autistic combat proficiency and lame bantz? Will Mook eventually make standalone appearances in this quest that will be explained in detail later in the other quest?

Without hesitating, you draw your weapon and rush forward into close range, where you can use your strength and melee prowess to corner and overpower Widowmaker. You reach back, preparing to stab downwards, hoping to pin her to the roof. But at the last moment she flips over onto her back, and as you thrust, she kicks out and blocks your attack with her boots on your wrists, her long, strong legs overpowering your arms.

“Dear friend," Widowmaker says, her voice still sultry and calm despite being locked in struggle with you, your blade held inches away from her. "What can I do, to prove the warm affection I've always felt for you?"

She locks your wrists in the gap under her high heels, and twists in a sharp motion, disarming you and sending your weapon clattering across the rooftop.

You dive and roll to retrieve it and, as you come up onto one knee, swap it into gun form and aim. Widowmaker is already standing, and has her rifle levelled at you.

A standoff, then.

"I do enjoy our little games, don't you?" Widowmaker says with a chuckle. "You know, normally, I don't feel a thing. What Talon did to me -- I lost many things, and my emotions were among them. But when I fight. Risking everything. Kill or be killed. It's the one time I feel alive." Smiling, she lowers her eye to the rifle's scope. "What about you, my little fly? Aren't you excited? What makes you feel truly alive?"

It takes you a few moments to sort out your conflicting feelings enough for a honest answer. You think about bullshitting to stall for time. But you decide she deserves the truth.

"You're right," you admit to Widowmaker. "It's exciting. All of this. I prefer stealing to killing, really, but there's that same feeling. The danger, the chase, the thrill. Not knowing whether the next ten seconds will bring you elation or death. That feeling when you escape or win a fight, when you struggle and survive, when you put it all on the line and come through. There's nothing else like it."

"So you do understand."

"Yes."

Widowmaker takes her eyes away from the rifle scope, although she keeps the weapon pointed at you. Slowly, she approaches you, placing one foot in front of the other, only stopping when she's within arm's reach and looking down at you -- she has a couple inches of height on you even without the heels.

“Sweet creature! You're witty and you're wise. How handsome are your gauzy wings--" She pauses and reaches out to you. Following your instinct you stay still, and allow Widowmaker to lower your mask, revealing your face. "How brilliant are your eyes!" she says, finishing the stanza.

Her eyes locked onto yours, Widowmaker traces a single cool fingertip along your jawline, grazing your lip. You can barely move, entranced by her beauty and presence.

A green blur streaks through the air and lands on the roof nearby, Genji in an action crouch with his shurikens ready. A blue blur zip-zaps up the side of the building and lands next to Genji, resolving itself into Tracer, who levels her pistols at Widowmaker. "Hands off him, Widow-bitch!"

"Or what?" Widowmaker asks her with a smug smile. "Jealous, Lena?"

"Grrr!" Tracer zips forward and fires her pistols, but Widowmaker shoots her hookshot, latching onto the next building over, a taller skyscraper, and sails into the air, tugged by her grappling hook. As she flies through the night in a graceful arc, she turns around upright to face the concert. Her helmet snaps into place. She raises her rifle.

"She can't possibly shoot while grappling in mid-air--" you start to say in disbelief.

"She can!" Tracer shoves you and Genji forcefully. "Go go go!"

Activating Mercy's wings, you fire yourself into the air after Widowmaker, Genji right beside you --

>Roll! 1d10, only the first roll counts.

You body-slam Widowmaker in midair, hearing an "Oof!" as you crash into her. At nearly the exact same instant, she fires, the loud report of her sniper rifle cracking over the noise of the concert below.

From this distance you can't tell the results of her shot. All you can do is grab on. As you both start to fall, you and Widowmaker wrestle in midair as you try to get control of her hookshot mechanism. She knocks away your strikes with precision, displaying impressive martial art skills and lightning reflexes.

The wind whistles past at increasing velocity, and you look down to realize you're plummeting towards the ever-closer ground at lethal speed. Widow realizes it too. "Au revior, bel homme," she says, blowing you a kiss. Then she twists around and kicks you in the chest with both feet, driving you away from each other in midair and knocking the breath from your lungs. She fires her grapple to land on another midsized building nearby, where a Talon dropship swoops in to pick her up.

Wheezing and struggling to get your wind back, you can't chase after her, and are forced to glide down to the street and land.

Tracer appears out of the timestream next to you. "You all right, love?"

You wave her off, coughing as your lungs open up and air rushes back in. "I'm all right," you manage to tell her. "I think I threw her shot off, but I'm not sure."

Tracer watches the dropship disappearing. Then she clutches her head in frustration. "Bloody hell! Widowmaker too? It's not enough I had to compete with Mercy? Aaagh!"

"What do you mean?" you ask her, clueless. "Mercy's not here, what does she have to do with this?"

She throws up her hands. "Never mind, Logan! Let's -- let's just check to see if Lucio is all right." She storms off in the direction of the concert.

You have no idea what she's angry about. Women, right?

Watchpoint Gibraltar
Medbay
Now

"So that's what happened," you say to Dva as you approach the medbay.

"Wow," she says. "I wish I'd been on the team at the time. That was a perfect situation for my mech. I could've flown up there and blocked her shots, then blasted her out of the sky. That and it sounds like a sick concert."

"I'm sure you'll get more opportunities to fight our insane brainwashed sniper friend," you say, entering the medbay alongside Dva. "As for concerts, no promises."

From his seated position in one of the medical beds, Lucio waves with his good arm. The other is in a sling, his shoulder heavily patched up from where he took Widowmaker's bullet. "Heya, folks. You wouldn't happen to have brought some new supplies, would you? I'm going crazy in here."

You drop the next set of issues of your old Overwatch comics on his bedside table. "Here you go. Issues 40 to 56, the Overmind Saga. Those are holy relics to me, so be careful." They're not the originals, the Overwatch comics you had as a kid -- those you had to leave behind when you ran away from home -- but you painstakingly tracked down other copies of the increasingly rare collector's items, and bought or stole them until you had the full set again.

"Thanks, man!" Lucio immediately picks up issue 40 and turns to the first page with his good arm. In the weeks he's been recovering in here from having his shoulder blade bones turned into a smashed dinner plate by Widow, he's gotten a lot of practice. "I can't wait to see how Overwatch recovers after the Mars incident."

"I used to have every book of the old Korean manhwa series," Dva says, picking up one of the comics and leafing through it. "I wonder how how the two stack up against each other? Oh, hey, they have the same ads!" She holds up a page for a Tracer action figure.

You say, "Anyway, Lucio --"

"How are you feeling?"

"At this point? Bored. It was pretty crazy the first couple weeks. Mercy's a wonderful lady, and she could take the pain away, but not the itching. The itching, Seeker! Anyway, I haven't had much to do in here besides watch the news and read comics. I'm ready to get out in the world again. The corps aren't sitting around, so I can't afford to either."

"That's the spirit. Sorry that, you know. You got shot. I tried."

"From what I hear, that bullet would've splattered my brain without your intervention. No apology needed. I'll take a few weeks in the hospital over splattered."

You rest your hand on Lucio's uninjured shoulder. "Well, I'm glad you survived. Not just to have you on the team and all, but because you're a good guy. The world would be worse off without you."

"Thanks, pal. I do what I can, you know? I just make tunes."

"You'll be able to do a hell of a lot more than that with your Vishkar sonic tech, once you get out of here and into the field," you say. "That is, once Mercy lets you out of here. Any ideas when that is?"

Mercy enters the medbay, wearing her civilian white coat. "When I'm confident that he can engage in significant activity without refracturing his shoulder. Good morning, Lucio. I hope these two troublemakers aren't bothering you," she adds with a gentle smile at you and Dva.

"Doing just fine, Dr. Ziegler. Hoping to get out of this bed sometime soon."

"Well, that's what I'm here to see about." Mercy pulls up Lucio's latest scans and examines them closely, then nods. "Excellent. Mr. Correia, I'm happy to pronounce you fit for duty."

"All right!" Lucio throws back the medbay blankets and stands up. He rotates his shoulder a few times to check its range of motion, then he strikes a dramatic pose. "Lucio's ready for action!"

Dva blushes. You cough.

"What?" asks Lucio.

"Hospital gown," you say by way of explanation, avoiding mention of the -- well, unmentionables. "We'll give you some privacy." You take Dva by the arm and lead her away as she desperately attempts to stifle laughter, trying not to embarass Lucio any further.

With his concert tour finished, Lucio has joined the team! With a second battlefield healer to call upon, and Dva rotating on and off tank duty with Reinhardt and Winston, your team composition options have become a lot more robust. You get the feeling that having Lucio on the team will be great. Not just for his healing and support tech, but for morale. He's always got something positive to say about everyone (other than Vishkar).

That said, without sales from concert tickets, your income has dropped slightly. You'll If you only had some of that sweet United Nations funding, like in the old days. Unfortunately the new Overwatch is poor as dirt, surviving on clandestine crowdfunding arranged by Athena's financial tricks. You'll have to be on the lookout for other ways to obtain cash.

You have a lot to do after returning from your Australian adventure. Maeve has her research results ready to present, Lucio needs to begin training, and Torbjorn said he had something special he was working on. The Junkers are probably already waiting by a phone, eagerly hoping for a mercenary contract so they can blow something up. Sombra's loyalty to Talon is heavily in question, and she told you to contact her, implying that you already knew how to do so, and you have a couple ideas on what that could mean. And you haven't heard from Pharah in some time -- as far as you know she's still investigating the Anubis situation while trying not to reveal anything to her superiors at Helix.

All that and you have to plan the next mission. And you're probably forgetting something.

Looks like a busy few days ahead. Well, you need to start somewhere. What do to first? As the morning sun rises over the Watchpoint, you consider your next move.

In aperfect world, we'll find a way to clone ourselves and solve the one-body-many-waifu's problem but more realistically? We'll probably end up with Tracer or Mercy before Pharah given that we've yet to get her on our team.

Plus, we've hardly got time to get into a serious relationship right now so we'll just continue flirting with literally everything that has a pulse...and probably a omnic or two as well.

>3.Sombra:Talon Intelligence
Check in with sombra. Contact her by speaking into your phone "Call Sombra".

I feel as though we can wait on "Fulgurite" for a 4th check-in, maybe leave it be for a while longer. We should give them more time to crack the Project, no doubt Ravenking intends for this to be a project that unlocks in chunks. Let it rest so we can get a bigger chunk later.

Lucio knows his tech, and has had self-training with it, no need to check on him just yet. Pharah, again, she may be kept underneath surveillance. Raven said in earlier blocks she might be being kept in the dark.

>then again... if feel as though Raven would give us a chance to talk with her, if only for a moment.

Compared to its early days as a glorified supply closet crammed with the Lindholms' gear, the Watchpoint Forge has become a place more deserving of the name. The room has been expanded into the rock and cleared out, and has the equipment to act as a proper armorer's workshop. Machine tools, workbenches, mechanical arms, nanoforges, three-dimensional fabricators, proton smashers. Everything the modern engineer needs.

You find Overwatch's chief engineer at one of the work stations, his protective mask down against the flaring light from an active welder. When he stops for a moment, you say, "Hey, Torbjorn. You wanted to see me about something?"

"Ah, yes. Good timing, lad. I'm just about done here." Torbjorn puts the finishing touches on something, then shuts down his torch, turns around, and raises his mask. He folds his arms and looks up at you a few moments, his heavy brow furrowed in judgement. You have just long enough to get nervous before he speaks.

"Lad, when I first met you at the foot of that Titan in Boklovo, and I realized you were the new rookie, do you know what I thought?"

"That I was, uh, charming and handsome, and a great addition to the renowned Overwatch?"

"I thought you were nothing more than a lucky idiot. A fool, a child playing a game of superheroes, who happened to be in the right place at the right time to get recruited by a naive and impressionable Lena. A boy who was likely to get himself killed."

"Uhh--"

"And I was right. That is exactly what you are."

"Hey, come on!" you protest. Not that you have any argument against this, but still!

"However," Torbjorn continues. "I'd find out for myself that there was more to you then that. You've got guts and brains. You're willing to make tough choices. You put that M-Tech suit of yours to good use in the field. Not all your decisions have been the best, but you've been under a lot of pressure since day one, so considering the circumstances? I think you've done all right for yourself." The dwarf clears his throat, unexpectedly looks embarassed for a moment,. "Anyway, uh -- I've been working with Winston on something for you." He steps aside and waves vaguely at the workbench behind him.

A glass sphere containing a fire of crimson and gold, surrounded by a delicate filigree of mechanical and electronic support nodes, an ammunition unit, and an M-Tech compatible linkup. You feel a grin spreading across your face. "You made me a Core!"

"Aye, that I did," Torbjorn says, a gruff pride in his voice. "Once Winston showed me the parameters for his core tech, and I was convinced you were worth the effort, it just took a little hard work. Just promise me to put it to good use busting tin cans."

"I will," you say. Stepping forward, you reach out, delicately take hold of the mechanism, and lift it up. The sphere in the center glows and pulses with heat and energy, like a miniature sun, tamed and harnessed, just for you.

You've gained the FORGE CORE!

Brigitte emerges from the other half of the workshop, wiping her hands off with an oil-stained rag. "She's patched up and ready to go. Repaired, decontaminated, even vacuumed all that dust out of there. What the hell were those bite marks? The PSI must have been incredible."

"Drop bears."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously. Don't ask me," you add in response to her look of confusion. "Maybe the wastelanders had a mad biologist working for them? Or there could be a whole population of the bastards out there. Who knows what kind of mutated monsters are roaming that irradiated hellscape these days."

Seeker's Loadout

You have five gear slots: Sword (melee), Gun (ranged), Left Hand (defense), Boots (mobility), and Chest (passive), plus a sixth slot for your Ultimate. Each can hold a Core to give you access to more powerful abilities.

Choose your armor set, choose a gear slot for each core, and choose your Ultimate move. Any empty gear slots will use the M-Tech Suit default move.

Armor sets:
Light: Adds movement speed, jump height, climbing.
Medium: Adds health and stamina.

Boots: Magboots -- High jump, short duration wall run or wall climb.
Chest: None

TESLA CORE (Winston) -- Lightning / Shield
Sword: Stormblade -- Charge up to perform a lightning-charged sword spin, dealing high damage in an area around you.
Gun: Thunderbolt -- Charge up to fire a bolt of electricty that bounces between targets.
Left Hand: Knight Shield -- Raise a powerful defensive force barrier, shielding yourself and teammates from damage.
Boots: Shield Dash -- Air-dash forward and create a frontal energy barrier that blocks projectiles and knocks back enemies.
Chest: Arc Shield -- Gain a temporary barrier shield when you use an active ability.

CADUCEUS CORE (Mercy) -- Healing / Flight
Sword: Einherjar -- Gain a short period of health regen and increased sword damage.
Gun: Wings of Light -- Glide or hover and gain increased gun accuracy in midair.
Left Hand: Guardian -- Fly to an ally and shield them from harm.
Boots: Angelic Alacrity -- Gain a short period of flight and health regen.
Chest: Valkyrie's Chosen -- Increased healing received. Long-term injuries taken while equipped will heal faster.

FORGE CORE (Torbjorn) -- Fire / Armor
Sword: Flame Slash -- Gain a short period of increased cleave effect and melee damage.
Gun: Thermite Blaster -- Fires a molten burst that devastates armored enemies at close range.
Left Hand: Scorch Shield -- Shield of flame blocks projectiles and burns enemies in close range.

ULTIMATE CORE -- Charge up for a powerful ability.
Sword: Omnislash -- Magnetize all enemies in an area and dash between them, striking each with a high-damage attack.
Gun: Magneton Gun -- Gain 3 high-damaging hitscan shots that pierce through enemies. Barriers are not pierced, but take extreme damage.
Left Hand: Shadowshot -- Fires a trap that magnetizes nearby enemies, greatly reducing their speed, preventing use of some abilities, and causing them to take extra damage from attacks.
Boots: Shadow Dash -- Gain 3 charges of a long-range dash that damages enemies you pass through.
Chest: Agility Amp -- Gain increased movement speed, ability cooldown, and melee damage.

With this Seeker plays more or less the way we do. He's a good balance between speed and sustain, with abilities that let us weaken a group and then finish them off relatively quickly. Medium Armor is imperative to this playstle though. Seeker is already a pretty quick boy. Light Armor may boost that, but it takes away a good chunk of health that we get with the Medium that we usually end up relying on in missions.
>>
>>2527105
>Heavy: Adds armor and more health, longer cooldown on movement ability.

We often take too many bullets not to have this, also it helps win a straight duel easier.

Sword: Einherjar -- Gain a short period of health regen and increased sword damage.

Left Hand: Knight Shield -- Raise a powerful defensive force barrier, shielding yourself and teammates from damage.

Gun: Thermite Blaster -- Fires a molten burst that devastates armored enemies at close range.

Chest: Agility Amp -- Gain increased movement speed, ability cooldown, and melee damage.

This is a good defensive combo that has good passives and good damage, and with our boots we still have good mobility and our ULT boosts everything so we can go crazy for a bit.

Together with Torbjorn and Brigitte, you reconfigure your lightly armored suit and your power cores into a new loadout. With a powerful sword, flaming shield, and lightning gun, you should have the offensive potency to handle just about anything smaller than a tank. With the ultimate core loaded into your chest, you can temporarily overload your suit and gain an incredible burst of agility, vastly increasing your movement, evasion, and sword prowess. It's a decent loadout, although you've gotten used to having some kind of flight or aid-dash ability at your disposal. Back to the old moon shoes, then, and the high-jump and wall-run.

After thanking the Lindholms for their help and making a note to test out your new abilities at the firing range later, you head over the laboratory to speak with Maeve. She likes to keep the lights out, claiming she's used to working at night. In the darkened room, the main illumination is the wide screen on which Maeve is preparing to present her findings to you. You take a glance at the former Lucheng researcher, her pale Irish skin lit up by the screen.

Maeve brings up her findings on her datapad and transfers onto the big screen a satellite photograph. It shows a large estuary in South America, surrounded by jungle and small coastal settlements. "Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela. Site of a unique atmospheric phenomenon known as "Catatumbo Lightning", which regularly produces more lightning storms than anywhere else on the planet." She clicks over to a photo of a massive blast of lightning bolts electrifying the lake. "The lightning varies in intensity but is nearly continuous."

"So there's a lightning storm over a lake in Venezuela that never stops. Quite a light show."

(Continued)
>>
>>2527277

"The cause of the storms has never been satisfactorily explained," Maeve says. "Local altitudes and wind patterns aren't enough. Geologists have theorized that some unknown material in the bedrock could be responsible ."

"An unknown material with weird lightning powers? That definitely sounds like something the corps would want to get their hands on and study."

"Indeed. My analysis of the Project Fulgurite data indicates a secret project operating out of a blacksite in this region. I've highlighted a few likely locations here." The next photo has red circles outlining three areas nearby the lake.

"Which corps are we talking about?" you ask her. "Lucheng? Vishkar?"

"It appears to be a co-operative venture between multiple parties." Maeve glances over at you, meeting your eyes. Both of you know how the corps work. They only play nice with each other when something big is at stake. Something that could disturb their control over the populace -- or enhance it. "I can confirm involvement from both Lucheng and Vishkar. There may be others as well."

"Any idea what they're working on in there?"

"Specifically? No. But I can make an educated guess as to its purpose."

"Military."

Maeve nods. ""Project Fulgurite" is almost certainly a clandestine weapons program."

"So an alliance between Lucheng and Vishkar and maybe other corps has a secret weapons research program in a hidden facility by a lake with a thunderstorm that never ends."

"Correct."

"Geez." You scratch your head, thinking. "As if killer robots and James Bond villains weren't enough, we have to deal with this crap."

>Could this be part of a greater plan?

It's a tough call. Tempting as it is to deal with a supervillain-tier secret base, we need to focus on adding bodies to our team and bringing that worldwide panic down to a more manageable level. Perhaps it is time to tackle the Russian Omnic conflict? Follow up with Fareeha on her efforts against the AI unit?

"Could this be part of a greater plan?" you ask Maeve.

"Highly probable. I uncovered several items that may be references to similar blacksites at other locations around the globe."

"So they have more than one of these secret weapons labs. Great." It occurs to you that the "time gun" that shot Tracer could have been developed at one of these sites. Could this be the purpose behind them? Anti-Overwatch weapons? But no -- you uncovered references to Fulgurite years ago, before Overwatch ever reformed. It must be something else. Some plan of their own.

"If the site is that important, it might be heavily guarded," you muse, looking at the satellite recon photos. "The corps know how to keep a facility hidden and have high security on site at the same time. We'd either need a prepared infiltration mission with plenty of intel ahead of time, or do some serious bunker busting and be ready for anything they can throw at us. Maybe both."

"Will you attack?" Maeve asks.

"I don't know. It's a problem, but we've got other things to deal with too. We need to add bodies to our team, keep a lid on the world chaos situation, and oh yeah, stop two super-powerful evil AIs from destroying humanity." You look at the photos of Lake Maracaibo for a moment longer. "I'll put it before the team and see what they have to say. Assuming there isn't some urgent crisis before then, that is," you add, only half-joking. "Thanks for sorting this out, Maeve. Glad to have you working with us."

"Happy to be of assistance."

"This is unrelated," you say. "But did you ever know someone named Moira O'Deorain?"

"Unfortunately." Maeve's lip curls in disgust. "We briefly attended the same university in Dublin. I mostly know her by reputation. Why do you ask?"

"I had a run-in with her in Australia. Turns out she's some kind of Talon big shot now."

"Really? I suppose that doesn't surprise me."

"What do you know about her?"

"Geneticist, once highly respected, if not liked. Brilliant, ambitious, innovative, selfish, ruthless. Obsessed. The sorts of qualities that might cause one to join an international criminal organization, I suppose. She gained a great deal of renown before controversy over her methods led to, essentially, her exile from the scientific community."

"That sounds about right from what I've seen of her," you say. "If you think of anything else about her I could maybe use, let me know."

"I will." Maeve deactivates her presentation. "I'll send you the files on the Venezuela blacksite. What would you like me to work on next?"

"See what you can find in that data we pulled out of the Ecopoint Antarctica archives," you say to Maeve. "Mei thought there was something valuable in there. It's time we figured out what."

"I'll get to work right away," Maeve says. "Although --"

"Go on."

"I'm used to having assistants. And better equipment. I don't mean to be rude, I'm just saying I'd be more efficient with them."

"Sorry about that, but we're on a shoestring budget here. I'll do what I can for you."

Before continuing with your business for the day, you decide to stop by and update someone on your latest adventures.

"And then he drove off the cliff! With me in the car!" you say. "We just barely survived. Tracer and McCree arrived in some wheels and we took off, just ahead of the cops. Then the wastelanders showed up. They scared the cops off and started coming after us. They had these big trucks and cars with spikes and chains and harpoon guns and everything. When a huge dust storm kicked up, I drove into it, and we lost them in the dust."

Looking back at your Australian escapade, you can't help but laugh. "That was one wild ride. I wish you could've been there to see it, buddy, but I don't think Australia these days is a good place for you."

Bastion beeps, understanding.

"We haven't really been able to take you on missions at all, I guess. I'm too worried about what'll happen to you out there -- or, if I'm honest, what people will think if they see you with us. A lot of people out there aren't too thrilled about Omnics in general right now. Can't even say they're wrong to be afraid, with the war in Asia and everything."

Bastion beeps, acknowleding the complexity of the situation.

"You haven't really had much of a chance to explore the world outside this base, huh? Next time we're on our way to someplace robot friendly like Africa or the Mideast, I'll try to bring you along. Or maybe we can just take the Orca out for a spin together."

Bastion whirrs in anticipation.

You look around the computer server room that's served as Bastion's unofficial home since his arrival. "You doing all right in here? Do you want any furniture or anything?"

Bastion beeps, not really needing comfort like humans do, but grateful for your concern.

"Maybe I'll get you an old couch or something, just to see if you like it."

"Maybe I'll teach you to use the paint app, too. I wonder if you can make art." You look around for the little yellow bird that often accompanies Bastion. "Where's your little bird friend? He didn't migrate south for the winter, did he?"

Bastion points up at a small nest in the rafters. The bot emits a sing-song beep and, in response, the yellow bird's head pops up from the nest and calls a similar song in response.

"Talking to birds, huh? You sure you're not actually a Disney princess?"

You think about where you might be able to take Bastion on missions without causing more problems than solving. At least he makes a great base defender in the meantime. "If we did get out there, is there anywhere in particular you want to go?"

You take out your datapad and show Bastion a world map. His single optic blinks a few times as he studies it. Slowly and carefully, he raises his finger and points it to the left edge of the map. Then just as slowly, he slides it all the way across to the right edge.

"You want to see it all, huh? Pretty cool, Bastion, but I don't know. I'd love for you to be able to travel around everywhere, but like I said, most of it is still a dangerous place for Omnics. We're doing what we can to make it safer, though. Maybe someday you can go out there and walk from one end of the world to the other, and nobody will bother you."

"As for me, when I go out there now, I'm expecting to run into a crazy, evil, brainwashed murderess, who I'm not sure if she wants to love me or kill me. Maybe both." You think back to the encounter with Widowmaker a few weeks ago. You haven't heard from her since. "Any advice?"

Bastion beeps, indicating that the capricious nature of the human heart is beyond his understanding.

"You're telling me. Anyway, I'd better get back to official Overwatch business." You pat the soldier Omnic on the shoulder as you head out. "See you later, buddy."

Bastion waves in farewell.

Leaving the server room behind, you tell Athena to open an encrypted comms channel in your room, and head in that direction, mentally steeling yourself. You might need some diplomatic finesse for the conversations ahead of you. Stop me if you've heard this one before -- a hacker, a wasteland raider, and a Helix Interceptor walk into a bar ...

The quest was started well before Brigitte was realized as a field agent. The most Raven could do at the moment is leave hints that she's gearing up to go out in the field, like pieces of armor sized for her strewn about her shop or having more training sessions with Reinhardt.

Junkrat and Roadhog claimed they had "things to take care of" before they joined up as provisionary agents. On your way out of Australia, they asked you to drop them off near Singapore. Soon Junkrat had left you a long, rambling audio message which eventually gave you a number where you could contact him.

You dial up that number now, via Overwatch's growing network of private satellites in orbit. You hear a scratch and a throat-clearing as the line is picked up, and Junkrat says, "Hello hello?"

"Hey Junkrat. Seeker here."

"Seeker! Mate! A fine how d'you do to you. To what do I owe the pleasure of this call?"

"Just making sure our deal still stands," you say. There's an odd noise in the background of the call, a familiar noise, but you can't quite figure out what it is, so you press on. "If you can keep control of yourself and avoid committing any crimes, we'll grant you status as a provisionary agent. You'll have accesss to our research facility, supplies, and a secure bolt-hole, in exchange for helping us blow up some Omnics and keeping your more, uh, volatile tendencies in check." That was a tough one to sell to the team and no mistake, but you managed to convince them on the point that, if the Junkers were going to be blowing things up anyway, you could at least try and point them in a beneficial direction.

"Of course, mate," Junkrat says. "That was the deal. Absolutely no major crimes at all."

You have a bad feeling about how Junkrat phrased that, adding the word "major". Not to mention -- "What is that noise, anyway? Are those sirens?"

"What, that? No no, that's just, uh, me clock tellin' me it's naptime. Gotta get my beauty sleep!"

You turn on your screen and switch to a feed from Australian news. Dozens of police cars are encircling a bank, officers taking cover behind them with firearms at the ready, while helicopter spotlights are highlighting the doors and windows.

"Junkrat, are you robbing a bank right now?!"

"Whaaaat? Noooo--"

Simultaneously on the news and on your phone, you hear a police megaphone shouting, "Give yourselves up, Junkers! This'll be the last bank you ever rob!"

Athena shows you a hacked feed from the bank. The security cameras clearly reveal Junkrat and Roadhog standing over a group of tied-up bank workers. Junkrat has a detonator in one hand and a phone in the other, on which he says, "I am absolutely not robbing a bank right now! In fact, we were just about to, err, head over to Luna Park for some good old-fashioned funtimes! Not sure if they'll let Roadie ride the bouncy castle, but you never know, right?"

Okay, so this is frustrating, but on the other hand, the banks are insured by the megacorps, so it's not as if ordinary people will miss that money ...

>Stop that immediately! Overwatch agents don't rob banks!
>Ugh, fine. Just make sure nobody gets hurt. I mean it.
>What do you even need the money for? I thought you were rich with that "treasure" of yours? Which, by the way, you promised me a share of.

"What do you even need the money for? I thought you were rich with that "treasure" of yours? Which, by the way, you promised me a share of."

"Now, I'm not sure I recall saying--"

"I have a recorder in my helmet. Don't make me get the audio log."

"All right, well, er -- look mate, I'll come clean about the treasure the next time I see ya, but the short version is that despite everything I may have said or you may have heard, we need some cash. Pronto."

"What the hell for?"

"Would you believe me if I said charity funding for war orphans?"

"Uhhh -- probably not?"

"Yeah, I didn't think so."

You give up and sigh in defeat. "All right, fine. Do what you have to do. But listen to me. Make sure nobody gets hurt. I'm serious, all right? No bank workers, no bystanders, no police -- nobody."

"Aw, mate, that ain't fun --"

"I mean it! No casualties!"

"All right, fine. Funnest part is the explodey bits anyhow, doesn't need to have people in 'em."

You rub your forehead, feeling a headache coming on. "Just contact me at this number when you're ready to meet up. Until then, do what you have to do, without letting anyone get hurt. And Junkrat?"

"Yeah mate?"

"That includes you, buddy. Stay safe."

"Aww, thanks, pal! I'll see ya soon. Cheerio!" On the security camera feed you watch Junkrat hang up his phone, and the call disconnects. He then gets up on a table in front of the tied-up bank employees and starts talking to them. Probably making a speech like you see in the movies. Or maybe just asking them if they know a way they can get Roadhog into the bouncy castle at Luna Park.

Throwing the news footage of the bank heist to another screen to keep half an eye on it, you prepare for your next conversation with a criminal wildcard.

Ever since you started up in Overwatch, you've been buying Athena's software upgrades from a mysterious source called Hackercat, one of your contacts from your criminal days. They've never revealed anything about themselves, only their interest in selling forbidden AI technology for barely reasonable prices. For a while there you thought maybe they really were a genetically engineered cat, like Winston. Their identity didn't really concern you. As long as you could buy enough tech to keep Athena's powers slowly growing, and keep Talon out of her mainframe, you were satisfied.

But something a certain hacker said to you has been rolling around in your brain. "What if I told you that you already had my number?"

You call up Hackercat. The familiar holographic cat face comes into view. "Hello, Seeker. Better make this good. You've just interrupted a purrrfectly good nap. Would you like to see my newest security programs? Or perhaps you're looking for something a bit more aggressive in nature?"

"Still playing cat, huh?" you say, leaning back in your chair. "It took me a while, but I realized you were telling the truth. I already have your number."

The cat grins. Its fur shifts colors to a distinctive black and violet. The voice modulation drops away, and a familiar female voice says, "I was wondering when you'd figure it out, amigo."

You say to Sombra, "So it was you the whole time. Selling security tech to the very organization Talon was trying to infiltrate and destroy."

"All right, first. Disguising yourself as a cat. Really?"

"What's the matter?" The cat-Sombra asks with a sly grin, twitching her tail slowly in the manner of cats. "Not impressed at my fursona?"

"I just lost so much respect for you using that word."

"Heh. The truth is I'm not the original Hackercat. I inherited, or rather purchased, this identity, from the real one. He was the one you first met and starting doing business with, back before you joined the federales. At some point I took over, and no-one ever noticed."

"What happened to him?"

"Not sure. Out of nowhere he told me he was going away, and made me an offer. His contact list, and his cat avatar, for a hefty price. It was worth it. Now I'm the tech security broker for half the quality criminals on this planet, and no-one's the wiser. Never heard from him since. I keep using the cat avatar because people expect it -- and because I think it's funny." The Sombra-cat leans her chin forward on her front paws and swishes her tail in the air, inquisitive. "What do you think, Seeker? Seeing your ape friend in action makes me wonder what else might be out there. Could he have been a real cat, engineered to become a hacking genius?"

You shrug. "Anyway, look -- I don't get it. You've been selling us our security programs as Hackercat. But we've been buying those programs to keep you out, as Sombra. So you could've easily sold us crap goods, or written yourself in a backdoor, right? Could you have hacked Athena anytime you wanted?"

"Of course."

"So why didn't you?"

"Who knows?" Sombracat rolls over and bats at an invisible insect.

"You're way too into this cat thing."

"It's a function of the avatar program," Sombra says. "I'm just sitting in my chair. Anyway, if I broke down your codes, wiped your security, downloaded all Athena's data, and opened the front door for Reaper and the dropships -- well, that means Talon might win."

"And you don't want them to?"

"I've told you before, amigo. I play my own game. Think about it, hmm?"

That's confusing as hell, but okay. When in doubt, you resort to what you know -- flirting. "How about you? Thought about taking me up on my offer? My bedroom as a jail cell?"

Sombracat laughs behind its paw. "Sorry, chulo. I like to make other people wear the handcuffs. Some other time, some other place. When it's just us two -- or us three. I know someone who might want to play too. Give us a call sometime."

"That's both arousing and incredibly dangerous, so I'll probably do it."

"What will you do now?"

"For now? The same as before."

"Really? I figured Talon would hate you for betraying them or whatever."

"I told the council the reactor override simply didn't work, and they accepted it. Reaper says he doesn't remember so well what happened back there. I imagine turning into that -- whatever it was -- wasn't so good for his state of mind. Anyone else who saw what happened, well, he took care of them himself. No survivors. No witnesses."

You remember the transformed Reaper, a black whirlwind of teeth and red eyes, tearing through his own allies. Consuming them. "Every cloud has a silver lining, I guess."

"As far as Talon knows, everything's business as usual."

"So then -- can I keep buying security tech from you? Maybe even hire you for a freelance job sometime in the future?"

"Sure. We're friends, aren't we, Logan?"

"You've got a weird definition of friend, but yeah, okay. Thanks. I've got to go, but we'll talk soon, all right?"

Sombracat winks. "Adios, amigo. See you later." The picture clicks off.

You lean back in your chair and let out a deep breath. Okay, so although Sombra seems to officially still be working for Talon, both her and the Junkers have ended up somewhere in the middle of the ongoing Overwatch-Talon conflict and are willing, to some degree, to work with you. Their help could prove invaluable in the future, considering you've got more than just Talon to deal with. With the megacorps tightening their grip, Czernobog's armies on the march, and Anubis fragments lurking in the world web, you've got plenty to handle, and having the aid of a demolitions expert, his bodyguard, and the world's greatest hacker, will prove useful.

You tell yourself that you're going to be friendly. Maybe try to reconnect a little. When you think of her sometimes -- well, you're not sure if you can admit yet that you miss her. But you feel something for her still, whatever it is, and you're not happy about how things ended. Maybe, if nothing else, you can slowly start to resolve that.

That and maybe it's time to admit the truth, and tell her you're a part of the new Overwatch. It might make you rivals in the field, since she still works for Helix as an Interceptor. It might make her furious that you achieved her dream of joining Overwatch before she did. But she deserves to know the truth -- and she'll find out eventually. There'll be a shitstorm either way when that happens. Should get it over with now.

You dial up her number. Most of the time she doesn't answer. Busy on Helix business, you suppose. But this time she picks up. The screen flickers to life, and there she is, brushing a strand of her dark hair away from her eyes. "Hello --? Oh. It's you."

"It's me," you confirm. The silence hangs for a moment, you and Fareeha both just looking at each other. "Uhh -- you doing all right? How are things?"

"Y-yes, I'm all right. Things are -- are good."

"What have you been doing with yourself?"

"Work, mostly." She sees your discomfort when she brings up that subject, and hurries to add, "What about you? How are, um, things?"

"The same." Not much you can add to that without spilling the beans about Overwatch. Great conversational skills, Seeker. You try to think about something you can mention. "I was at Lucio's last show a few weeks ago. That was fun."

"Oh, yes? I saw it on the live feeds. Very impressive. I got an audio recording for myself."

"Are you even allowed to listen to him as a Helix employee? What with him being an anti-corporate rebel subversive and all?"

"Perhaps it's stretching the rules a little bit." Fareeha smiles and holds a finger to her lips. "Don't tell anyone."

"Your secret's safe with me."

Speaking of secrets -- it's time to tell her. There was no real reason to keep this hidden other than the pain it might cause her. It's just an awkward subject to broach.

Hey Fareeha, you know how your mother and her friends raised you from childhood to be her heir, giving you the skills and vision to one day lead Overwatch, and how you had that dream torn away from you by the Petras Act and were left aimless and adrift, until you joined a special ops enforcement team for tyrannical oligarchs? Well, funny story, but earlier this year I was in Mexico and I ran into a certain grey-haired man with a visor ...

It takes you a few moments to work up the courage. Pharah looks tongue-tied as well. When you do speak, both of you to blurt out simultaneously, "I have something important to tell you!"

After some awkward back-and-forth, you manage to say to her, "No, you go ahead."

"A-all right. The truth is -- I want your help."

You wonder what could be so important that Fareeha would lower herself to ask for your aid. And you notice that she didn't say "need", but "want". Interesting. "Go on."

"There's an upcoming meeting of some of the major corporate figures. Helix commanders and high-level megacorp executives. Very high clearance."

"All right, so some corporate big-wigs are getting together. What's the meeting got to do with us?"

"It's about Anubis."

A strange feeling stirs in your stomach. "And -- how did they come to know about Anubis?"

"Because I told them," Fareeha says blunty.

"You TOLD them?"

"I couldn't just sit on this, Logan! This is bigger than you or me. This is a serious threat to global stability, or even the human race! When I had incontrovertible evidence, I brought it to a superior I could trust. He got in touch with people. Executives. They've promised to help. I know you don't like them. I understand why you don't. But they're still human, and this battle against the Godminds concerns all of us. They have the power to do something about it. We need their help."

You struggle to contain an explosion of rage. Maybe she's right. As much as you hate those fat cats, they're still technically human. They should be on the same side against a species extinction event like the Godminds gaining control. Right?

"So you told them," you say, remaining calm on the outside as you throttle down your frustration and . "And? What does this have to do with me?"

"They want a briefing. They're expecting me to answer questions about how I found out about this, and I'd like your help answering. I need to talk to you about your sources of information. I don't expect you to actually stand in the boardroom beside me and talk to the executives, that'd be a bit much. But I want to go over everything before then. I --" She hesitates, then says, "I'd like you to be there."

"When and where is this?"

"The date is still being worked out, but the site is confirmed. It's at Lucheng Interstellar headquarters. Lijiang Tower."

Lijiang. The seat of power for Lucheng. Their citadel on Earth. You spent three years growing up in there, three years where your mother's worst tendencies began to manifest themselves. You thought you couldn't loathe the place any more than you already do. You were wrong.

"Just think about it, all right?" Pharah says gently. "Now -- what was it you wanted to tell me?"

Your anger boils over. "Never mind," you say. "Goodbye, Officer Amari." You cut the connection before she can say anything.

You stare at the black screen for a long moment. Then you sink down in your chair, groaning and holding your head in your hands. Goddamn it, Logan! What the fuck! Didn't you just say to yourself that wanted to be friendly with her? To try and reconnect? To tell her the truth? And instead you act like a petulant child. Fuck!

You don't have much to say during dinner. Everyone notices your bad mood and gives you some space.

Otherwise,
>>2540119

THis. Even if we don't show up we should have a representative there to act as the face while we go and solve shit. I nominate Torbjorn--or Reinhardt with Brigitte. Someone from the old team will be a familiar face to these stuffed suits.
>>
>>2540229
What the fuck makes you think it's a good idea to openly send Overwatch members into the heart of a corp in the middle of a meeting of Helix bigshots while we're illegal and corps want us gone?
>>
>>2540229
I don't see it as sending a representative. I see it as explaining that we told Fareeha about Anubis in confidence of her trust and she let it slip to her superiors which resulted in the other corps learning about Anubis. After the reaction of the others to us dating Fareeha, we have to tell them that Fareeha wants us specifically to join her at the headquarters of Lucheng the company that our mother runs. Then we hear their opinions on what we should do.
>>
>>2540259
Fareeha wants us to explain to her bosses that we were her source about Anubis. She doesn't know we're Overwatch, and we were about to tell her if our character didn't throw a fit and cut the call on her.
>How did you know about Anubis?
>'Cuz I'm Overwatch, biiiiitch.
>>
>>2540268
Hense the reason why we ask the other original members. We will have to tackle that meeting sooner or later and the later we put it off the worse it will get.

Have faith is what I am saying here. We can't just go Full 1960's CIA Cowboy and go prosecuting hot combat zones around the world with zero regard to international relations. We need allies in this fight; now, these heads of corps have expressed a willingness to listen--just listen--to whatever capabilities and dangers that this AI unit can project on an international scale. They are willing to hear about personal experiences that a high-ranking security company has had with said AI unit.

Now we've been fighting this unit since the beginning. With Megacorp support a lot of our logistic problems can be easily solved, and more than that we have a possibility of drawing from their resources--fast intercontinental transport, interlinked satellite communication webs, even ground and aerial support from corporate assets during field operations.

What matters here is that we exercise a little bit of trust and a little bit of faith. It is to be presumed that this meeting would be neutral ground--to assume malicious intent is overtly paranoid.

You spend most of the night awake thinking about the Lijiang meeting. Should you tell the team about what's going on? Send someone else to act as a representative during the meeting? They don't even know Overwatch is involved -- as far as Fareeha knows, you came by this information through your thieving. She doesn't know your new name, or your new job, or that there's anyone involved on your end but you. While you got mad and didn't tell her last night, there has to be a better way than for Torbjorn or somebody to show up instead of you.

You go to your bunk without having come to any decisions.

The next morning, you make an effort to put on a brave face and be your usual cheerful self at the meeting in the situation room, where you discuss with several of the core members your thoughts on the next mission. Nobody brings up your moods last night.

Instead you talk about the intelligence you have on Talon's movements, and how Athena has been monitoring their contacts with the Deadlock Gang in America and the Shimada Clan in Japan. While you were in Australia helping out the Junkers, Talon will have been making progress on their plans in these areas, whatever they are. And they'll be expecting you this time. So this will probably be tough.

In the end you settle on going back to Kyoto, Japan, to finish things with the Shimada Clan. Genji and Hanzo acknowledge that while they learned few specifics, they definitely felt there was a greater purpose behind Talon's subsumption of their family's criminal syndicate. What it was, they couldn't say, but they agree that returning to Japan to root out the plot and destroy it would be a good thing.

The team is stronger now than when you first travelled to Hanamura to try and recruit Genji, and wound up fighting to rescue him alongside Hanzo. You are better supplied and prepared, have greater intelligence gathering and cyber-warfare abilites, and of course there are more of you. Overwatch operates in teams of six, and you see no reason to mess with that, but now you have enough agents to leave healthy-sized teams back at base to respond to urgent threats or defend against attacks.

Which is why I say have faith. It wouldn't make sense for the meeting to be a trap--and while yes, we are dealing with megacorps who most likely worship the dollar over all else, in the present we could do with them as a powerful ally. And out of anyone who will be attending, we will probably have some of the most insightful input as to the capabilities and reach of the AI unit. If anything, we should have assurances from Fareeha that whoever of us make an appearance at the meeting arrives and leaves unmolested.

I'm not gonna trust those megacorp heads as far as I can throw them. Plus the moment we work for them half the team will be pissed at us and the corps will be milking the negative PR that we'll get out of this for all it's worth. Another thing is Seeker's mother will be there and depending on things the moment she learns it's us it's gonna go FUBAR. Public won't trust us as well if they see us working for the corps. So we should be VERY careful about this. And even though I do want to waifu Fareeha we shouldn't trust her word at this time.
>>
>>2540317
I have to agree with this. Lucio need a fortnight in the medbay.

Apparently we voted to see the cherry blossoms. And I don't want to bring out Lucio just yet.
>>
I was wondering what about the rest of the team?

Can we get Mei, Torbjorn and Tracer to go Antartica to see what they can salvage from the Ecobase?
>>
Just to note:

we could ask sombra to give us a projected avatar for the meeting instead of going in person. Or athena. Really all that is required of us is that we have a presence, not that we actually show up.
>>
>>2540393
That...actually wouldn't be a bad idea. And it solves the problems that showing up in person some have suspected would bring.

We would need a secure wireless signal to the location from whatever node we're broadcasting and, if none is provided, a holoprojector that will be able to reproduce a man-sized avatar. Also an avatar--any suggestions?
>>
>>2540394
If we do the option maybe have us be in our pre-overwatch armor and helmet?
>>
>>2540303

As anti-Widow as we can get, probably. There's definitely gonna be one or more of the Talon elites there, and Widow was the one there last time. Showing off D.Va AND Lucio at the same time is also definitely gonna be great for PR.

also
>trusting Sombra
>>
>Hanzo
>Genji
Mix of Stealth and combat, + familiarity with the area helps with guidance.
>Lucio
Equal speed and manuverability.
>D.va
Flight and firepower. Although she's a star, her mech, in my opinion, stands out less than a giant gorilla or a very tall knight.
>Bastion
We do not know if Bastion's PTSD will flare up in a combat scenario, but in this environment, I have some reassurances.
1. Ganymede's presence may be enough to bring Bastion out of its episodes.
2. D.va's shield should be enough to stop turret mode for a few seconds if it becomes an issue.

However, if Bastion is insufficient or not appropriate for this mission, then I would recommend
>Mccree.

Mercy's flight capabilities are good in open areas, but this appears to be an environment of corners and close walls. Lucio would be superior.

Torbjorn is going to be a bit too slow for this, and it's an offense mission over defense. I'm concerned about Mei freezing people and then watching them shatter.

We’ve broken in and out of corporate property, and the Corp may not be aware we’re the Overwatch.
Although we should plan for the contingency of them knowing and setting a trap for us with Farah as a bait. Meaning being ready to break in with cavalry, kill the power grid or tie up security with a distraction. Or maybe buying passage with a piece of technology or intel on competitors.
>>
>>2544353
I think you're greatly overestimating our capabilities and bargaining power.
>>
>>2544353
There’s no way of us getting out unmolested after going in. We go as Seeker, they’re gonna arrest us. We go as Logan, they’re going to detain us because we’re the Lucheng heir or whatever. We go as someone completely different, they’re probably going to grab us, unmask us, and THEN detain us. Going in personally is what I like to refer to as a “No-win scenario”. Better to just appear as a hologram, it’s not like most of the bigwigs won’t do the same. We have Athena to cover our ass if they try to discern our location, and I doubt they’re going to care whether we’re there in person or not, provided we can effectively corroborate Pharah’s story. We’ll need to come up with a cover as to how we came across this information, but that shouldn’t be too tough. I’m sure Pharah would understand if we told her. We can just tell her because we’re a wanted criminal and they’d definitely arrest us, which isn’t even a lie.
