/qst/ - Quests

Last post here: >>2514897

On the last episode of Caster Quest we were busy little bodies: rescuing and returning two Homunculi dames to the commune where we were richly rewarded by their "Architect" (their one and only male Homunculi and Magocratic leader) both in money and a rare set of Elemental Bonds, afterwards though we quickly spent all that money canoodling our noodle, drinking, and gambling. Once we were done this quest we returned home to pile our plunder for our precious Avarice Demon and began expanding and experimenting in our lair! Ice Golems were made, something we dare not speak about, delicious Witches Brew, an herb garden, Zombie Gnolls, and a few other 'oddities'.
Our final adventure, though, lead us to En where we scouted the town for work and out of the three jobs- decided to deal with a neighborhood Troll of nasty repute and with our help from the Butcher Demon we were successful, though exhausted and your friend a little bruised (even though she likes the pain).

Your current inventory & lair information: https://pastebin.com/3xnHBDVs https://pastebin.com/xnLhuuRf
Your current spellbook & undead list: https://pastebin.com/tJNzGa4e https://pastebin.com/3W9U0fbG

Starting right back where we left off: You're currently camping just a little outside with your friend the Butcher Demon; the two of you have successfully defeated the troll, the Butcher carved a few choice commodities (she needs to get paid too ya know) off of the creature- hide, tusks. It's the morning of the next day, having slept ontop of the Butcher, your jaw and pelvis are still a little stiff from last nights victory canoodling but you've got an entire new day ahead of you.
You aught' to hand in that Troll head and maybe see to the other problems En currently faces? Frogs and a mysterious beast in the shit brook.

Accepting new actions. Lets get started on another adventure!

I'd say we help out with the frog people. Getting in the good graces of the gods makes it far less likely they'll smite us or send holy people after us.

Especially with how often we are getting in bed with demons...man that is so going to backfire on us if we can't get a demonologist.
>>
>>2529122
Here's your list:

>Attach pumpkin to headless zombies then attempt to reanimate
>Attach haunted Skulls to headless zombies and skeletons
>Experiment with ice magic and see what happens if we concentrate it enough
>Imbue magic gems into eyesockets of undead
>Stitch up a bunch of different corpses together then animate it
(this may take a lot of practice to get it to work given previous experiments with reanimating mismatched bones and we might need to resort to relying on a mana battery)
>See what happens if we cultivate natural miasma among a pile of bone or flesh to see what will 'naturally' animate
(among other things of course best part is we got Dominate Dead finally so we can control whatever animates)
>Determine the lengths of inherent 'muscle memory' of mindless undead lets see how far it goes
(very important for when we decide to create undead soldiers, crafters, and use them as guards for our lair)
>See what happens if we attempt to animate leather, bits of bone, flesh, and sinew
(The existence of wisps indicates its possible and its vital experiment in order to create special gear/undead)
>Try to fuse a bunch of wisps together
>Create vats of special alchemy solutions to store corpses and imbue them with special properties
>Experiment with flora/fauna that can coexist with undead and miasma
>Use disease magic to keep our plants/animals safe
>Experiment with disease magic to create our own plagues

>Give the Butcher Demon an affectionate, mischievous parting squeeze before hurrying off shouting fond farewells. Turn troll head in and get paid.
>Roll 12/20

First things first: you have to wake up Butcher as you're not actually strong enough by any definition to actually haul the Troll body anywhere. The Head? Sure, but you actually want the body. Taking advantage of the size difference- you do a 'few things' here and there 'till the Butcher is eventually woken up. She pulls you out of her cleavage and the two of you haul the corpse back to En for the bounty.

The people of En are shocked and amazed; they all come out to see the massive corpse of the Troll- something they'd never be able to do if the beast were alive to object or to eat them for such insolence. The Emir of Em, himself, once again comes out to thank you, "Ah, so good to see you again and once again you've done us a great favor. Please, I know it's not much, but please accept the bounty: paid in coin." He brings you a sizable purse of copper and silver. The Butcher notes the Troll's Ivory is worth more than the bounty.
You shush the rude Demon and while summoning a Dark Cumulus- ask if she'll help drag it back home while you stay in En to complete the other Jobs. She agrees, but will try to make it back in case something needs to be punched or cleaved.

You're now back in the town of En.
Contemplating which job you should do next:
-Deal with those Frogs in the church?
or
-Solve the mystery of the loo monster?

You guys will have to come to a consesus on which to do first. Accepting rolls.

We already tried attaching Jack-o-Lanterns to headless undead.

Did not work well. THey all self-terminated, blew up, or tried to run away and steal our shit to become an Undead Hunter. They killed themselves when they were trapped so this strategy is probably a bad idea to pursue
>>
>>2529200
Hey, that wasn't my list OR my idea. For the record, the reason that happened was 'cause we rolled low to make it.

Our bid to control it was moving along. It had to kill itself to prevent us from making it a minion, but we might succeed next time.

I'd be all for trying again once we get more roll bonuses in place, like a dedicated reanimation room with some manacles to attach to a corpse in case the revival goes poorly.

Doing everything off the cuff with bad preparation is not a fair or useful way to assess an idea.

Let's deal with the frogs. And stop avoiding coming clean with the priest about being a necromancer by taking on the most perilous job available. I mean if we can handle a troll we can handle an adult conversation.... right?
>>
>>2529236
I think it's more a question of whether the priest can handle an adult conversation.

We should find out how his god feels about necromancers. We know a guy with a library so we can call him up first and ask. Seance is a great spell.

>Ask the Butcher Demon if she knows anything about the Goth Tree's keeper and whether she'd be willing to escort us through the rotwood to the tree so we can examine it.
>I'll give this to you because you posted this right as I posted my action and it's a decent question.

BEFORE she leaves, though, you remember to ask her if she knows anything about the Goth Tree and if she'd be willing to escort you there so you could study and learn from it.
She sets down the ropes pulling the Troll's body and turns to you, "Goth Tree is a massive hollow Tree. Last I heard it was home to the Flower Demon Tribe." There's a pause, you can't tell if she's thinking or- "Think it's owned by a Vampire now? Or they just work there?" She picks the ropes back up.

You ask her if there's any difference between being unable to live in the Rotwood and being unable to visit.
"Vampires summoned us all. Vampires and Demons were friends: Demons can make meat, blood, Vampires kinky. Centipede wanted to be in charge though- ate every Demon, most fled. Now you know the story. No more questions."
>Roll 5
You try to interject, but she drops the ropes one more time, strides over to you, pick you up by your collar, tilts her head and gives you a long, forceful, open-mouth, kiss with tongue- that weird drawn out tongue of hers silencing you. She then plops you back down on the ground, "Go. En. Frogs. Shit. Bye."

I saw your globe of the world here http://spaghettiart.tumblr.com/post/150714603457/finally-got-around-to-doing-it-but-here-you-guys

Just wanted to know what region Copse is in - I'd guess northern hemisphere from the lack of dinosaurs, probably the green belt of forest just south of the ocean that crowns the supercontinent?

Does our current outfit have a cowl to prevent ghosts getting into our face? If not, can we use the cowl from our first outfit? We might need to visit a tailor.

Since Creeps are technically a type of elemental, would it be worthwhile finding out if they can understand Murmur if we get a chance to learn it?

>Frogs.

>Doubles, but low 5. Rolling at a disadvantage.

If you can deal with a Troll you can deal with the potentially awkward and difficult conversation you're going to have with the Priest Boy since you're going to go and deal with his Frog problem next. It's the right thing to do after all- start acting like an adult that is.

There's a bit of cool, refreshing, humidity to the wind stepping out of En and heading over to the Church of Scylla, you can make out the temple just sitting by the river: The Priest is sitting on the steps, his prayer mat is underneath him and he's clutching the bronze wreath of Scylla in his arms, the doors to the church have been boarded shut. He doesn't seem very happy.

And you've no reason to be happy. You being the Priest Boy for the time being.
Frog Men crawled out of the basement a few weeks ago- right out of the river and through the little space between the channel and where it feeds into the fountain. Dozens of them. Beast with hands and armed with pointed sticks, bone knives, they chased everyone out including yourself and have been 'squatting' ever since. You can't deal with them yourself, no, this is obviously penance: Scylla has sent you a literal plague of frogs for some misbehavior on your part this is clear and you will suffer with dignity for it. This is the least you can do.
Speaking of misbehavior.
The Human is here. You have been tricked by him before, but this was while you were weak, ignorant, your divine eyes can see the taint of miasma on him. You bid him hello and ask him what he wants.
He says he's here to help with the frog problem. This is honestly ideal: if he clears out the Frogs Scylla can be mad at him instead of you. If the Frogs kill him maybe Scylla will stop being angry. You tell him he's welcome so long as he's here to help.

You sit down next to the Priest on the steps of the church and apologize to the Priest. You only meant to deceive him 'till you knew and understood that you were a good person. Where you're from people burn Necromancers and you were sure the tradition would be the same around here. Still clutching the wreath in his hands, "We did too until we ran out of Necromancers." You don't appreciate his sass, but he isn't trying to zap you at least.

>Lucky 7

You can hear faint croaking coming out of the church, so you get to work: cracking open your spell book and preparing a few spells in anticipation of dealing with the Frogs inside. A small, frustrated sigh escapes the little Priest, "There's maybe 20 or so in there. They're Amphibians so they don't like the cold. Maybe you can freeze them and we'll dump them in the river? That would be 'ok'. " He gets up, clutching the wreath tightly to his chest. "I'll open the door and you run in when you're ready. I'm going to close it behind you though."

>Roll 14, 18, 17, 14.

You let the Priest know you're ready and he turns around, faces the door, raises his wreath and says, "Let the river run true, no path may obscure Scylla's waters." The boarded up doors of the Church un-board and free themselves of debris before swinging wide open. You then scoot yourself back in before the Priest words off another Miracle and the door is bound once more. This time with actual magic, which you take as a deliberate choice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZl9BK62YOs
The church is flooded on the inside. The pews and every bit of furniture has been dragged over to clog the fountain and other drains so there's at least ankle deep water inside the temple, but beyond that the building is fine. One particularly fat frog wearing a tall crown of grass and reeds is leading a procession of other frogs: he croaks, they croak, he croaks they croak. He raises his webbed hands, they raise theirs and they do a 'wave' motion.
You clear your throat and try to address the Frogs directly. Try to ask them what they're doing here, how you can convince them to leave, they all turn and look at you with their big, glassy, froggy eyes and nothing is revealed. You have absolutely no way of knowing what these frogs want or why they're here- they clearly want the temple for something or some religious purpose. The frogs grow impatient with your presence and several of them begin puffing up and croaking at you.

You remember the Frog Idol to Scylla you had looted from that Troll's bag and pulling it out you show it to the frogs before scooting up a little ahead, placing it on the ground and then backing off.
The Frogs are pleased. They all croak loudly and boisterously: the largest one gets up, walks like a man (his large flippered feet flopping up and down) and picks up the Idol.
He yawns his massive jaws wide open, extends his tongue, and extends it out.. You.. You grab it and find he's left in your hands a piece of treasure in exchange for the Idol.

>New Quest Item: Scylla's Stone: "This small stone has been rolled and polished by the river. It's shines and sparkles, light moves around in it as if you were looking up at the sun through water. Entrancing to look at, but holding it burns your hand."

The large Frog then motions to the other frogs and they begin unclogging and clearing out the Church before they dive back down through it's channels and into the river. The church starts draining slowly.
"Whats going on in there? Human?" The Priest knocks on the door.

>Unanimous: Tell what happenend. Ask about the stone.

Through the church doors you tell the Priest what happened: you gave the frogs a weird wooden carving of Scylla and they traded it for a smaller, not-as-weird, little river stone. The Priest upon hearing this gets so excited he can't immediately recite the proper miracle to open the door and you hear him mess up, pull, bang on the door several times before the doors swing open.

"Show me the stone." You unfold the little handkerchief you're keeping it in and show it to him. His eyes widen like saucers and he visible begins to vibrate. "Give me the stone." You pull it back and wrap it back up into the little bit of cloth. This is 'your' stone, the frogs gave it to 'you', not to the Priest. Further more, you tell him that the two of you need to clean up the church first AND he needs to tell you why the stone is important. The Priest.. becomes tense and doesn't entirely know how to express his frustration beyond squirming, but he knows you're right- even if his age won't allow such a slight on his pride.

>>2529679
>Ghost hand and stuff.
>You're in a church.

Sitting back you do the minimum: you cleared out the frogs, so you get to be rude now. The church stifle your powers, but you can still pull out a Ghost Hand to help rearrange the pews, fix up the please, mop up a little bit of the water, but the Priest is doing most of the work. "That's a Scylla's Stone. It's a small, pure, mana crystal that only form in waters that Scylla owns." Sounds important, you say aloud; the priest on the floor and you lazily wiggling your finger- scrubbing up the place with a little Ghost Hand. "It's very important. I can use it to make or purify water, I can use it to speak to fish and frogs-" Why didn't the Frog use it then? The Priest yells out, frustrated, bitter, and annoyed, "Because he's a dumb animal person, just give me the stoooneeee pleeeeeeaaaase." His voice cracks a bit and he shrivels up a little. Nothing seems to ever go right for the little guy.

>Roll 7/20

The first thing you do is very briefly lecture him on his poor behavior. Not a lot- you're not exactly a model 'citizen', but you feel it's incredibly inappropriate for him of all people to be racist: especially to the Frog's whom worship Scylla. Not to mention how disappointing it is that his first instinct was to flee. All of these are very poor qualities to have if he's going to be any sort of a decent Priest.
>>2529751
You think me might not even DESERVE the stone, but your little rampage is reined in when you realize you're lecturing lecturing a small orphan child roughly 3 years younger than yourself and is now doing that kind of trembling, angry, half-cry kids often do when they're frustrated and don't entirely know what to do with themselves. You're familiar with this emotion.

You call at him, he sniffles and dries his eyes on the sleeves of his blue and white ritual robes, "What." You toss him the stone and apologize, asking if he'll forgive you and if the two of you can go back to being friends. He stops crying, but he's not happy. He rolls the small stone in his hand and it gives off a dull aquarium light that reflects against him in odd rippling shapes and prismatic light. His eyes light up and he seems to calm down..

"Thank you. Now get out of my church." You.. just sort of crane your neck forward, what was that? "Get out of my church." He raises his hand and starts pelting you with weak little Water Bolts- "GET OUT! I HATE YOU!!" his voice squeaks, another weak bolt of water comes out to pelt you.
They don't hurt, but, well, you're getting wet. You scuttle over the pews, trip, slip, run and crawl out of the church.
You're pretty sure the Priest Boy doesn't want you dead, but he's still upset about something. Hurt feelings can't be healed so easily it seems.

God I hate such use of buzz words. Calling some one like a Priest for not living up to a high ethical and/or moral standard that comes with such a position shouldn't be controversial.

>Abysmal failure. Rolling with advantage.

On your way back into town you stop the Emir whom you see on the way to the trading post, he notices you're soaked and laughs to himself, stroking his beard. "Oh ho, my friend, dealt with the Frogs did you? Now there's a good young man!" You tell him sort of- you.. Explain the situation -vaguely- how you've come into a bit of a falling out and disagreement with the Priest due to spiritual matters. The Emir furrows his brow, a little disapointed.
"I'm afraid there's little I can do. With his father dead the child is the only person in the village suitable for the position, so my hands are tied." He places his old withered pale hand on your shoulder "Give him some time and some space. He's young and it must be very frustrating to have someone so talented brush into town and upstage him." He raises his eyebrows and the mood shifts, "Now.. If you're still looking for something to do... There's that creature in the latrine.."

You politely excuse yourself.
>>2529895
>Welp, let's report to the trading post that we got the frog people to leave, so they can take that one dwon, and ask about the poop monster.
>roll 15/20

Stepping into the trading post, the clerk greets you excitedly, "Word's already spread- daughter told me just a moment ago, let me get your reward." He takes down the notice, fishes through the counter, and hands you an unimpressive bag of coins. When you ask him why the reward is so small he says, "Well the town didn't have any money after you killed that Troll- The Emir wasn't expecting to pay it out so soon, so the reward for the frogs is the Churches initial payment.. Basically whatever that boy could scrounge up himself. " You ask him if you'll have the same problem with the monster in the shit brook, he shakes his head, "No, no, we've been ignoring that problem for months now- it's got a pretty decent reward. People were a little more motivated to deal with that when it became a problem."

You may now roll for new actions.

Ultimately you decide to decline the reward, handing it back to the clerk, letting him know the Frogs flooded the church and that the boy will need every penny to fix the place up- especially if any of his Miracle Texts were damaged. The sits, has a bit of a think, "You're right." He opens up the small wooden register and pulls out a few coins- a handful of copper pieces and even a silver piece, placing them into the pouch. "That boy has had nothing but trouble, it's high time something nice happened to him."

Before you leave, you ask for a copy of the Shit Brook Beasts' bounty and tell the Clerk you'll be heading their next. He unfortunately doesn't have anything in the way of nose plugs, masks, or anything convenient like that. "Don't be so melodramatic- big tough guy like you should be able to handle a little stink, right?"

It's pretty bad.
Outside of En, (down wind of it obviously) on the opposite end blocking it far from the river is a large ditch located under the ruins of some long scavenged stone construction feeding out of the ground and half toppled. The brook is big enough that it feels like it's most likely been dug by the entire community over the years, deeper and deeper to house more of the town's and it's peoples toilet.. waste.. The smell is just awful, but the worst thing about it it's a "new" smell: you've smelt a lot of Human, Centaur, Orc, even a little Gnome and Halfling poop, but Changeling is just a completely new world of smells.
You kind of want to go home, but you're not the sort of person to give up so easily.
You survey the disgusting landscape: the "brook" doesn't have reeds, the soil around it is almost bleached or otherwise burned of any plant life within a certain space around the body of thick "liquid" from over exposure to so much waste. That said, you can definitely make out movement within the mass of filth- something is teaming in there, but you'll have to draw it out or get it's attention somehow. There's no way in hell you're going in there after it.
You pray it's just an animal: you don't like the idea of meeting a being who'd live in such putrid filth.

The Butcher Demon might have some insight on the problem that you're missing out on- she.. Might also just be interested in this kind of thing? Either way: you lay out your little prayer mat, light a candle, and sit down to cleanse and focus your thoughts- reaching them out to the Butcher.
Telepathy is.. Difficult.
You can hear Butcher Demon clearly, "Hello my little stud, I can hear your sweet voice in my mind. Big boy learned telepathy, hmn?" She comes in clearly and more 'eloquent' than usual. The same can't be said for you. It isn't the same as talking, you can't hide anything, and have a difficult time piecing things together- mixing up memories, casual thoughts, fantasizes, and impulses.
What you end up asking of her is as embarrassing as it is disgusting- something close to.. "Wanting to hunt down her shit monster". She laughs it off, she knows that isn't what you meant, but she isn't willing to miss this rare opportunity to tease you. What she says recites back to you in great detail is so lewd and foul your concentration is broken and the telepathy ends.

>Attempt to Freeze and Rot the Shit Brook to draw out the monster.

The Butcher Demon won't be joining you, which is most likely for the best; this is gross and you're embarrassed.
It's also for the best because you're not done embarrassing yourself:
You try to freeze the shit brook, using wisps, frost breath, frost bolt, you don't want to touch it.. And things look good up until the point you slip and fall a little into the.. "mess".
When you're back from cleaning up you try to just Rot. Rot it all. Just turn it into dirt you figure: let the microbes deal with it. Oh boy, oh boy does that not work at all- not only do you have to TOUCH the brook to do this, but it somehow makes it smell WORSE as it FERMENTS. Something you hadn't anticipated.
The only consolation is no one is watching this, but even you don't get that decency.

The creature's head peeks out from the filth: black long hair, green skin, yellow eyes, long round horns arched and pointing their flat ends towards each other in the shape of an incomplete-circle.

Ok... not sure why you are bringing him up then, with out any context, while we are in the middle of discussing how to deal with the shit monster.
We are a bit busy being a Necromancer AND we aren't all that much older than him to be acting as a big bother always giving sagely advice. Not to mention things are a bit rocky between us right now. And tell them you're just here to try and settle the grievances of the community. You tell them they're making the people of En nervous and preventing them from using the brook.
The Filth Demon sinks a bit lower and their tone develops a little edge, "It's not my fault the peasants are all idiots and cowards." You pinch the space between your eyebrow, it speaks again, "I'm sorry, that was rude, but I'm not leaving. This makes more sense, but gets progressively more disgusting the longer you think about it.
"I..I'm not going to do that? Why should I hide in -my- home? Should I put up a schedule? Maybe post some hours of service?"

>>2530312
>Can he at least make himself more accommodating to the villagers?

"W-what is that supposed to mean? How more accommodating can I be? Do you want me to start doing 'f-favors' for them?" You mean more in the way of perhaps good will or some sort of.. Positive interactions you could have with the villagers that would alleviate their concerns about them being a scary demon.
They wade over to the shore of the brook, resting on their elbows, "I..I know what I am. There is.. Very little I could do that would alleviate or endear me to these people. I appreciate your help, really, but your effort is wasted and misguided."

>Ask her if she consumes the filth over time - the community might come to see the benefit of a sort of self-managing cesspool in the river.
>6/20

They aren't taken back so much as they become defensive at such a question, but it doesn't help that you word it like a little childishly, "Just so we're clear, you eat poop, right?"
They cross their arms against their... fat 'chest', which.. That kind of makes sense? And back off, a little offended, "I..I..can. S-sometim- What do you want? Who are you? I don't have to answer that."

The Filth Demon doesn't want to leave, which makes sense, but also you agree they shouldn't have to: the villagers are the ones technically with the problem.. They're also the ones paying you, though- to investigate. You suppose if you could find a place equally or 'more' filthier than this town's shit brook she/they/them would probably be more open to the idea of moving.

It's raining. The rains have come to Copse and with how things go you know they'll be here for a few months at least. Luckily, though, you're not getting wet, you're not cold, beyond being a little humid you feel fine.. Which is great because it's a bit of a walk on foot back home.

It's pitch dark when you make it to Honey Hill and ultimately decide to spend the night there: getting some bed and breakfast in you before you finally make it back home to your lair the next morning. Your Goblin is waiting for you outside, there's a massive Troll's Corpse and Head sitting out on the lawn.
"Ey, Love, whatha' feck is this about? The huge bitch came here the otha' day with your Gnoll Zombie and left this even bigger fuck!"
The Avarice Demon shuffles out from inside, exhaling a long drag from his pipe, he nods, "Welcome home, Boss. Brother Butcher was here, he dropped the Troll's body off for you and headed into the Rotwood on some business.. Said something about fulfilling your scat fetish when he came back? Don't know what that's about, but good luck." You tell him to shut up and hand him the silver. "Oh, damn, big money."

You're back at home. The rain smells great on your fields.

>Dig out that fungus from the termite hive we've had for a while and hand it off to the goblin.
>Roll 90/100

You remember you have some Termite Fungus sitting around collecting dust and pass it over to your Goblin- he, he doesn't actually need to be told what it is. "Oh, hey, this is a good find, love. You want me to grow this? Yeah I can do that, but I'll need your help for a with a little something.." It's not sexual, for once: he needs you to rot a few logs is all and have them placed in the 2nd floor basement.
>+New Lair Feature+: Fungi Planter, "A few logs kept partially rotten, perfect for growing Mushrooms- something Undead can eat beyond flesh and blood. "

>>2530639

>Roll 58/100
>Low Success.

The Avarice Demon gets some chains and you try to see if you can replicate what you did last time, but the results are.. Not as impressive to say the least.
You drag out one of the bodies (you're starting to run out) and prep it: getting a Pumpkin, spitting out a Wisp, telling the Avarice Demon to make sure it's good well and bound before you put it together and.. It's stiff. It's stiff, but it moves, you try to command it and there's nothing going on in there. The Pumpkin eventually rots and the whole mess burns down and freezes.
Maybe you don't need a body?

>Séance a few people for advice.
Your third experiment isn't really an experiment. You just want to make a few calls to some people:
>Séance The Architect
You've only met him once, but you try to contact him again- it's difficult, but you get him for a few moments. You ask him about enchanting, you try to anyway, you mostly get off a few words about wanting to make things 'magical'. "I THINK you're referring to enchanting, right? You're a Necromancer, so.. I guess Ice would be your best bet? Flesh is more a Warlock's bracket- " He cuts off from there.

>Séance The Monk
This is far easier. When you contact them it feels as though they're in the same room as you, but it's more than that, you feel like you're 'truly' meeting them now and not the weak body that's become them. "Well this is a pleasant surprise, you know Telepathy? I told you you were strong." Their voice is confident, strong, upgraded from an untuned violin to more of a piano. You ask them for advice, you just talk to them, you love hearing their voice.
They're happy to hear your getting stronger and helping people, but beyond that there's little they can do for you, "Had you a 2nd body.. a Volunteer.. We could at least have some fun. Somebody with a little more meat than me that could handle you. Stolen Word can be used for... "other" things besides pain you know, just a suggestion~"

>How do demons evolve and grow stronger?
>Freebie, cause it's conversation.

While you're thinking about it you briefly ask The Avarice Demon how.. Demons basically function.
He takes a long drag from his pipe, still counting the money, and responds rudely to the side, "Demons grow to the size of their vice. By that I mean, Demons need a vice: gluttony, lust, wrath, etcetera, to provide them with mana as well as just keep ourselves grounded in reality."
As much as it pains him, he hands you a fist of change, "If I don't have this: I won't be able to to magic, then I'll starve, then I'll be sent back to hell."
Makes sense you say aloud, he then opens his black clawed hand and you pass it back to him, "Burry me in this and I'll grow. Simple as that." There's a pause, he takes a hit of his pipe, "You can also just kill and eat other Demons, but most of us have something of a mutual agreement to not do that because that's all Hell was. Was that. Forever. For eternity."
You give him some 'vice' in the form of a little kiss on the forehead and leave him be after that, it seems reminding him of Hell has made him rather.. Contemplative. "It's a terrible place, that Red World . Terrible."
>>
>>2530785
Ah so build demon baths and add Project Demonic Corpse Avatars to the to-do list. Wish he would have spoken up sooner so we could create a literal money pit for him to soak in.

I'm still curious to see what would happen if we concentrate their 'food' hard enough would do...ah magical formation built into the bath. Make it so it concentrates the resulting energies. Speed up demonic growth.

Let's see here...need either a demonologist or the right grouping of demons. If we use Avarice Demon Magics to hoard the energy+Filth Demon Magics to 'ferment' it...that alone won't be enough. Need more demons. It's not enough to build a reliable spell formation.

You're interested in upgrading or making your 'sense undead' more powerful, but also more scrutinizing: you're aware other forms, domains, and so forth of magic exist, but at the moment all you can "see" is negative or vague spiritual energy- miasma and anything else associated with Death.
This process takes a few days, it's honestly just mostly training than book reading given the nature of the ability. The Avarice Demon is an IMMENSE help.

Before you started that, though, you commanded your Skeletons to begin digging a deep pit, a very deep pit- deep enough to require a rope and pully system like a well would in the basement. The Goblin teases you, "Waddya doin', luv? Lookin' for gooold? You aint' gonna find anythin' just digging holes in the feckin' basement, babe."

2. The Scarecrow works.
>+New Construction: Scarecrow, "Create Construct, much like an Ice Golem this scarecrow is powered by the low-burning miasmatic essence of the Wisp in it's head. It will eventually rot due to the miasma and it must be given vocal commands- it has no mind or 'memory of one' to physically dominate.

Yesterday was the last good day you had for a week.
Everything beyond that point is pretty bad, so lets start from the top:

>>2530832
>Use Sense Paranormal to look at the magic in the Ras' Treatise then try to duplicate them non-melting magic in making new heat resistant bodies for our ice golems.
>Roll 4/100
>Terrible, near complete and total failure.

Looking at the Ras' Treatise on Ice Magic you attempt to replicate such an effect on your Ice Golem, obviously it would be to the little guys and your own advantage to have jolly ol' frosty servants running around and not melting in 17-25 degree Celsius heat you see here on midday Copse. You end up destroying one of your Golems and in the process cause terrible frost bite on your hands that the Goblin and the Avarice Demon need to immediately treat using a combination of medicinal and paranormal treatments lest you lose your fingers. You do not enjoy being healed by a Demon: it is a deeply uncomfortable process that isn't cool or calming like your magic and even after the burning fades the proceeding night has you tossing and turning in fits of fever.
His only words of comfort, "Well, the Miasma shard is safe, so that's good." Terrible bedside manner. You only survive because of Goblin cuddles.

>>2530839
>Roll 94/100
>Success, just short of perfection.

A week later, you take it upon yourself to try a much safer experiment: turning a Wisp into a Poe. Simple stuff.
You go into the basement, grab a stool, you spit out a Wisp.. A yellow one- you like yellow, and you hold your Flawless Dark Mana Crystal underneath it to feed it like a little bunsen burner. It gets bigger and bigger and bigger, eventually it's consistency thickens and it forms into the familiar Poe shape.
Once it's 'born' it immediately puts up resistance.
>New Undead Unit: Poe "Create Undead, very difficult to replicate in lab conditions and even more difficult to control. Poe's are larger, more 'complicated' wisps: fast, strong, can follow more complex commands."
While not one of a 'smart' creature a Poe is a 'true' Ghost: making it impudent and free-willed.

Alright, now its time to negotiate with the Poe.

Point out if it wasn't for us it would still be stuck as a shitty wisp. Offer it a gift as a gesture of goodwill like a special lantern made with a dark gem/a wisp being the center of it(or another object it would be interested in like our old Poe Coat). Tell it if it wants a stronger body or even a physical one we can help with that. Even modify the body to its desires and help imbue it with more miasma. All in exchange for service and providing assistance of its own will. NOT just because we forcefully take control or order it too.

Use the Avarice Demon and Goblin as examples. Showing we are legit with the offers and aren't lying.

But Psychic abilities can only ever 'really' develop under trauma.

You'd like to do something nice and get some practice in while you're at it, so you hold a small Séance and call the two Barbarians- you'd like to wish them well and see them off on their adventure home back to Promethea. Your first mistake was being a teenager, that can't be helped, but your second was treating your immature Psychic Powers so casually.

An attempt to communicate with the two is made- you reach across a large amount of space, but your emotional connection to the two of them makes this a simple matter.. You have trouble focusing though, your wants, your needs, your dreams, your impulses, your desires, you hopes, they all intervene and break your concentration before you can even embarrass yourself.

You fall inward, into a place where no one can find you.
Except her. You hear her humming, the sound calming your painful mind.
"You're so tense, you're all bottled up, why don't you just let it all out?"
Her hands wrap around you, you feel them holding onto you from behind.
You're scared, you don't want to hurt anyone, you never want to hurt anyone.
"This is a safe place, just you and me. I'll help, trust me."
She helps you raise your hands up and all the bad thoughts: the stress, the hate, the anxiety, the fear, all come out in a big wave, "Woosh!".

>New Spell Learned: Mind Blast: "Psychic, a powerful physical blast of psychic energy. Mentally and emotionally exhausting."

Does our current outfit have a cowl to prevent ghosts getting into our face? If not, can we use the cowl from our first outfit? We might need to visit a tailor.

Do the jungles around Copse contain bamboo, as far as we know?

At yesterday's session we got into a few adventures here and there: we visited En and went about solving every problem they could throw at us- Filth Demons(sent to Pug), Frogs(sent back to the river), but we couldn't solve our relationship with the little Priest so easily. We left there having made a large donation to the church in hopes the Priest might forgive us more easily and be a good boy.

The rains have finally come to Copse, so after our adventures in En were concluded we made the walk back home where our friends and our experiments were waiting for us: a big troll corpse in the lawn, goats & chickens, scarecrows and ghosts to summon, a pit was dug. The session ended, though, with us trying to Séance a few friends and failing to do so- hurt ourselves in a way we don't understand, but in doing so developed our mysterious Psychic powers further.

Your current inventory & lair information: https://pastebin.com/3xnHBDVs https://pastebin.com/xnLhuuRf

NOT just because we forcefully take control or order it too.

probably thinking the Troll would regen to offset the Rotted parts of its body. However, unless we can sufficiently restrain a troll, that'll be difficult since Rot is delivered by touch as we learned during our encounter with the Filth Demon
>>
Once you've cleaned up and had a word with the Avarice Demon and your Goblin (who needs to be held, he thought you were going to blow up), they both tell you more or less that they heard a large 'trumpeting' noise before the house shook and found you unconscious and spasming in your laboratory.
There's gaps in your memory, so you fill them in with that.

>>2533312
>Let's start prep on the Troll like reattaching its head and make it ready to raise as a zombie (once we're strong enough to control it)
>roll 45/100
>Low success, but a prep roll can't destroy reagents.

Back to labratory work, you tell everybody to help you drag the Troll's corpse downstairs to keep it out of the sun- it's a good thing it's been raining or otherwise it would have turned to stone or burned up. Once inside you prep it up, it's too large to animate at your skill level, but you can at least clean it : you cast Dark Ring on the head and it starts rolling, shifting, it fuses back to the stub with a perfect seem -it's become 'complete'- far better than sowing.. And thankfully this doesn't revive the Troll.
You then get the Goblin to give the body a rub down in herbs. You feel casting anymore magic on it might interfere with the reanimation process in the future.

>>2533320
>Raise another gnoll zombie.
>roll 93/100
>Complete and total unarguable success. Rolling with advantage: Gnolls are easy.

Once you're done with the Troll's body, you get your minions to bring out a Gnoll's body (you have 3 left) and you give it a quick rub down in herbs as well. Gnolls don't need much prep-work and take to Necromancy very well, so this is rather safe. You fumigate it with some miasma, dominate it's dead mind, and slugishly rises to it's feet- perfectly puppeteered and awaiting your mental command. You give it a 'blip' and the Rothide Gnoll drags itself over with the other Gnoll you have.

>>2533288
>>2533352
>roll 11/20
>Command minions to collect more reagants.. And bake a pie.

The last thing you do for the day is to send your Golems and Skeletons out later in the evening to go and collect new bodies from the mass grave to work on, which is good because you're running out and if you didn't harvest them they'd just come and attack you anyway. They'll be back later. (1 turn)
You also bake a pie.
You get some flour, some honey, some spices from the garden, and you finally get some use out of your lair's oven. You remember your mother used to bake a lot, so did your uncle, at any rate it isn't as good as their pies (you don't have the right flour, but that oven is top notch, really), but it's still a good pumpkin pie. You sit down with your Goblin, Avarice Demon, and the three of you have some tea & pie while listening to the rain beat down outside.
It's nice.

Once pie is done it's already quite late- getting darker than usual given the cloud coverage and the rain. You're worried in these conditions that the Sunflower Circle might not be enough (it is quite dark and stormy) you sit down with your friends and carve some jack o lanterns.
It takes longer than expected because your Goblin finds a particularly large one that he can climb in and he wants to try something 'weird' with you. It involves putting the Goblin in the pumpkin, cutting a hole in the bottom, and putting something of yours in that hole. It's something.

The Jack O Lanterns get set up though. Their dull glow lighting your farm's perimeter. It's super spooky out here- the rain and darkness obscures the world around you, but you can hear groans, screams, the clattering of bones, and hungry moans.

Once that's done you head back downstairs and get to work on some Alchemy practice, or, more accurately: The Goblin does and you just help and quietly learn- which you do! A Number of things, in fact:
-New Craft: Smoking Herbs: "The same herbs used to treat bodies can be smoked by people. A common corner-store commodity: rolled in paper or placed in a pipe, it's all good. You don't personally smoke, though."
-New Craft: Basic Herbal Potion: "This tastes awful, but it works. Burns all the way down, this potion can't perform miracles, but it can save a life in a pinch."
-New Craft: Basic Disease Rub: "This poultice of mashed herbs can be rubbed on an infected side to cure superficial infections or disease. Excellent for treating warts, but don't eat it- it's toxic."
It's all together a very productive morning. Your Goblin isn't shy about complimenting you above or below the work table, he also goes on to say that there's real money in alchemy if you can find a buyer or customer basis: it's non-invasive, non-magical, healing- a rare commodity in this time period.

A condenser system might consist of:
- a source of organic matter to generate the life mana (I was considering a mirror-lined chamber with a skylight and fast-growing plants inside it like seaweed, bamboo, etc)

- a means of turning the life mana into miasma (undead present in the chamber, skeleton mages casting rot spells, etc)

-a means of condensing the miasma gas generated by the process into a liquid and then solid state (wisps in an alchemical apparatus, endothermic fires, etc to bring down the temperature)

-a means of controlling the creeps the crystals would generate (I was thinking we could try and learn Murmur and bring them under our control, they're technically elementals and only want to generate more crystals, which we're facilitating anyway)

-a means of isolating this from the rest of the lair so it doesn't get flooded with miasma, undead, rot, etc (a ventilation system with a windcatcher should do the trick)

With a crew of undead to build the facility, a skeleton mage to cast the maintenance spells, an alchemist/herbalist to manage the necessary processes, and some undead guards to keep the creeps in check we can probably make it happen.

It'll probably require beefy defenses and a well laid-out design, not to mention huge fucking stone support pillars for the subterranean chambers, the right plant samples, maybe a homonuculus to help with the engineering, etc.

I think it's achievable in time if we research it correctly.

This is quite possible the most important development in your work.

Once you're done with home and garden work with your Goblin you shoo him away and summon the Avarice Demon to fetch you your crystals, your beakers, your spherical-what-sit-that-drips, some organic material, and a host of other reagents and tools. You want to condense and mineralize Mana and begin making your own Dark Crystals.

The process is lengthy, tiresome, requires constant supervision, as any amount of light- even a small amount, completely ruins the procedure and forces you to start over. What's more, if done incorrectly it simply rots away and produces nothing but mundane refuse. Eventually, though, you're successful: you produce a single fragment, a small minute fleck, of crystallized Miasma. Miniscule compared to something you'd find in the wild, but it proves that labratory conditions can replicate it... Now, had you a better lab, you could fully realize.

Your work is cut short, though: you hear clattering, clacking, rattling, and screams coming out from the lawn upstairs.
Seems the Skeletons have brought something or someone interesting back.

>They've only brought you one body back, though, and all three of them must restrain him as he's still using his body.

Your Goblin Skeletons come rattling over.
They have in their custody a very visible upset, and very concerned Vampire lad about a little older than you, but then again: Vampire, so he could be a lot older. Pointed ears, red eyes, black hair, he's wearing a dense hooded collar and shawl over a 'dull' autumn tunic, and has on him a rifle, a bandoleer, a hunting knife, so you guess he's a hunter? Meat?
He's a little greener than you've what you've seen out of the other Vampires, but it'd make sense that they'd have skin tones you suppose.

He's hissing and extremely agitated.
You give him a little wave and his eyes dilate, "No, no, no- no LET ME GO. LET ME GO. FUCK. FUCK." His struggling causes his hood to flip off- he's got a cute pony tail at least.

We maintained our own graveyard ever since our place got swarmed by a bunch of undead. After we blew their heads off we created one and cast the spells to keep them 'fresh'. Its mostly been exhausted by now so we need more corpses to refill it.

>Freebie. Conversation.

The Hunter lights up and takes a quick smoke break since it seems you have questions for him and he's already out here anyway.
You ask him if he's here to hunt you, "No, I was just told you lived out here. I'm just out here to hunt for meat- I was until your skeletons grabbed me that is." Meat? You ask him how the community is doing if they've got hunters out. He drags a long drag, burning through the little paper cigarette, "It's been better, honestly. Catherine has a strict no Demon policy, which is weird, but that's politics. She banished or evicted anybody even remotely magical in the old court: Warlocks were executed, Necromancers were banished. It all seems redundant, but she's the one on the throne, so whatever." That sounds pretty radical, you ask him how the 'normal folk' are handling it.
"Poorly. I was a recent migrant hoping for a good turn, but as you can see I'm out here doing what I did back in the living lands. I was told this was an Undead country, but I guess even in death we can't escape the same politics, hmn?" He laughs at his own joke and finishes his smoke- throwing it onto the lawn and putting it out with his boot.

Guilt and paranoia well up inside of you and come bursting out in a large, intangible, rant of confessions and apologizes. It's a mess he can't make heads or tails of, but he stands there and listens, his ears perking back up and you showing your immaturity giving him some small comfort.
You tell him you're not as bad you seem, you just didn't want to be eaten or enslaved by a Centipede Demon.
"I understand your need to exaggerate. Catherine may be a little 'Conservative', but I wouldn't say she's a "Demon"
He doesn't know Catherine is a Demon it seems. What an important piece of information.

You excuse yourself for just a moment and make a mental command to your Skeletons and Gnolls to go back out inside the rainy fields and find something of actual use- after they've given their treasure to the Avarice Demon for safe keeping that is. You also, this time, let them go with the farming equipment- maybe they'll dig something up of use.

The Avarice Demon steps out to collect the loot, he acknowledges at the Vampire-Hunter and the two briefly exchange pleasantries;
The two don't know one another, but seem pleasantly surprised to see one another either way.

Create a suit of armor from the leather, wood, flesh, and bone, but then attempt to animate it(necro power armor ahoy). Create some rope, nets, and spears/bows from the stuff. Then place a dark gem and decaying matter around it before burying it all together while attempting to push miasma through it all. Actually, bury it in the pit would probably be best.

Once the Avarice Demon is finished his work he comes back up and joins the two of you once more. You and the Hunter are standing 'closer' to one another, but you're still at a safe, awkward, distance from each other. You're still strangers after all.
You try to tell the Hunter he's working for a Demon, Avarice backs you up, "It's true, you are. Catherine is just a big Centipede Demon who cheated his way to the top." The Vampire doesn't seem bothered by this, he just seems tired.
"While that's likely, I'm not exactly in a position to exactly 'overthrow the proletariat'. I appreciate your conspiracy theory, but I just got here a few years ago and I'm not looking to rock the boat."
The Hunter settles his things and heads off, "For what it's worth, I won't tell the talking heads about you. It's the least I can do. Be safe out here kid."

Once that's done: you seal it up with a wooden lid (couple of holes) and let it be.

>Fortuitous Supernatural Results.

The Goblin holds your hand and he leads you and the Avarice Demon outside to the Garden. It's still raining out and you're still a little under the weather yourself, so you're not really in the mood for this.
Your Goblin points it out, "There, that bushy cunt!" There is a small Venus Fly Trap, maybe 2-3 ft or so tall with one recently grown bright green head. The Fly Trap has clenched it's mouth around the head of one of your Goats, who's still alive; held in place, bleating, and agitated, but alive.
The Avarice Demon places his hand on your chest and walks forward, "This is ridiculous, here boss, let me handle this." He walks over and cuts the goat free with his claw before barking at the Goblin to root up the plant. The plant wiggles, squirms, spasms, frightening the Goblin away- Avarice rolls his eyes and uproots it himself. "It's a plant. You work with plants everyday."
You shuffle back inside. It's raining, you want to go back to bed, and this is dumb.

It's a little later in the day before you feel better enough to work, but you're scared off of Ice Magic for the time being and aren't interested in doing anything like that for a bit longer, so you fiddle around with what you already have down in the labratory and around the house.
A small breakthrough is made, but nothing fancy.

>SEXY~!!!

It isn't until the start of the next week do you eventually feel brave enough to experiment with Ice once more. You shuffle back into your laboratory, sit down with Ra's Treatise, and get to work on a brand new Ice Spell. Determination and all that wot naught. You get out your ritual parchments, draw a few circles, just dick around- summoning, snow, making little clouds, trying to see whatever would work.
The room becomes colder and colder and you make a breakthrough- icles beginning to form in the corner.
>New Spell: Summon: Chione: "Summon a Chione. Chione are species of Snow Nymph: spiritual or paranormal beings associated with icy environmental conditions not typically found in your world. This summon can be given psychic and vocal commands, but since they are a summon will keeter back to their native reality once you're done with them. "

The Snow Nymph 'pfoopfs' into your lab in a cloud of snowy powder: wearing a shortrobe with a split to show of their thighs and legs. Their hair is made of snow, their body is a cold 'blue' white complexion, and their nails and eyelashes are ice. They seem.. Surprised, but not annoyed, and they greet you politely. 'Oh, uh, Hello sir." You get the feeling in a Tropical world like this they must not get many summons.

You can't spend all day cuddling with your new friend, you've got work to do and you'd like to do it outside and away from the laboratory. Except it's raining far too hard. It seems it really picked up later in the day, just after the Minions came home. It would be extremely dangerous to go aerial scounting in these conditions: lightning, trolls, undead, who knows what else.
So you don't.

>Let's investigate that machine. Rolling.
>Roll 43/100

Instead, you head over to see what the Corpses have brought back: bodies, skeletons, good good, you're surprised and happy about another Gnoll body- they're super useful. What the Hell is that.
The Avarice Demon hasn't even touched it, it's still out on the lawn, but you can sense it from inside the house. You do not normally believe in an 'objective' definition of Evil, but looking out at that object, that well of darkness, how Avarice, the Nymph, even the Goblin are all made uncomfortable by it's mere presence.
You start to think maybe Evil does exist.
You pick it up. It doesn't hurt, far from it, you're overwhelmed by how.. 'spiritually' powerful it is, how it overwhelms and intoxicates you despite being some vague hunk of machine.
You seal it inside a Box and cast the strongest Protection from Good & Evil that you can muster. It'll have to do for now.

>>2535322

>Gardening!
>Roll 19/20
>Near perfect success.

The day clears out a little to a dull trickle, you figure this is as best as it's going to get and with the Goblin and a few straw coats you head out to get some gardening done.
You replant, regrow, drain, and manage the herb garden- you also collect samples and cutting from the carnivorous plant, getting your Goblin to replant it around and in key positions by the Garden so it'll protect the space from pests. He whines a little, but he does it.

You spend the rest of the afternoon getting to know your Snow Nymph.
You call her out again, just as formal as ever, 'Hello again, my master. W-would you like to use my body again?" No, no, no- no, maybe. No. You'd just like to talk. This time.
She seems far less embarrassed and the two of you have a pleasant. She tells you she's from the moon! How interesting!

>Complete success, but at this point you outta just have it.

It's a new day. You're as fresh as a daisy. Fresh as those Fly-Traps you planted out to guard the lawn from pests.
You've got a plan today and it involves creating your first ~magical assistant~ and nothing is going to stop you this time. Nothing. You toss that slutty Goblin off of you- throwing him back into bed. No time for cuddles. You flip off the Avarice Demon. You retract that, he's made you something to eat. You apologize to Avarice.

You storm down into the basement: your books are gathered, circle is refurbished and redrawn, you fetch your extra poe coat, make a staff for it using a femur bone, and start assembling the Human Skeleton piece by piece.
You call out your Snow Golems and pluck out their polished miasma shards- not the round snow boy. He will live. Without their shards they flop down into a lifeless pile of ice and snow. A necessary sacrifice.

The Gems are placed into the eye sockets of the skeleton and it is ready for reanimation.
>++New Undead Unit: Animate Skeleton Mage "Create Undead, animate a skeleton capable of casting Necromancy! Skeletal mages require two miasma shards in their eye sockets- this expense is the only way they may cast magic, but it also allows them to follow more complex orders."
>Undead Unit 8/8 controlled. Limit reached. No more- the mental strain is too much.

You're having a pretty okay day.. You.. You decide to do something new.
A quick Séance is held and you get the Monk on the line, they're.. concerned, "I felt that outburst a few weeks ago, are you okay? You feel so strong right now- Oh.. Ohhhh~" They begin to giggle a little excited, they know what you want, you can't hide your feelings and there's no lying in telepathy. "Yes, yes, we can try that. Yes please."
It starts out with the Goblin, but there's.. Problems, so you borrow the Avarice Demon.... After they've warmed up they want to try the Goblin once more. Still too big.

He.. Understands. "Right, right, love. I understand. You can count on me. STEM Goblins, not SPERM Goblins. Gotcha. Beaut. "
You bundle him up in a straw coat, give him a little kiss on the forehead that degenerates into something more his speed, then lend him a Dark Cumulus to speed away.. Low to the ground, though. It would be horrible to lose him to lightning.
He'll be back next session.

"That's very kind of you to worry, Master, but you've no need to worry about my living arrangements. You summoning me is temporary- taking only mere moments. I have plenty of time to myself and a much nic- Oh, oh."
They begin apologize profusely. They did not mean to offend you. Yooouuu, what did she mean by that?
The Nymph -under pressure- reveals she has an apartment all to herself back on the moon.
"Your house is very nice, Master! Honest! It is a very lovely little, ah, rural home! It is cute!"

>Visit the Hive!

The rainy season still lingers, storm clouds over head, the sun hidden away almost as if it were sleeping through the season. You miss Mo- er, you miss the Bees. You haven't seen the Bees since you brewed up a whole mess of Pumpkin spiced alcohol and shared it with them, but that was WEEKS ago and you miss them.

You gather a few things: some snacks, some herbs, some flowers, and head out on foot in your robes and little straw cover. You haven't actually seen any Bee Women since the rains started.
They're all in Honey Hill, seems they've been busy, as, well, Bees! The daughters have been making massive expansions to the hive: digging out burrows with stone tools or by hand, laying down foundation, spooling and spitting wax to reinforce and so forth. This is all rather impressive, this place is becoming larger than En. You knew the Bee women were hard workers, but their industriousness is quite admirable.

You're welcomed in by the Bee Women, they take your coat, but the Queen is nowhere to be seen- they're quick, though, to guide you to her in her chambers.
She's laying there, holding herself, dozens of Bee Women coming in and out- seeing to her needs. Bee Mom is looking far more curvy and ah.. 'swollen' and.. well, 'puffy' in, ah, some particular places. "Oh, comme c'est embarrassant, mon cher petit scarabée me voit dans un tel état. Je dois être un tel gâchis .." She's.. Pregnant? No. She's with eggs? Eggies?
You know nothing of Bee Women Reproduction, but she seems to be doing well if a little larger than usual- you give her your gifts and sit with her, she seems very pleased. "Mon petit scarabée, toujours aussi gentil." You bashfully ask her if there's.. A father involved somewhere in this, she laughs, linking her arm with yours and seems to assure you in a calm tone, "Oh, non, non, c'est tout moi. Il n'y a pas encore d'homme dans ma vie." That's.. a relief? You think?

Either way, you don't really do anything exciting: you share a meal with her, you talk to her and keep her company. This isn't your greatest adventure, but this is making you happy in a way Necromancy and Magic typically doesn't... Also Bee Mom is SUPER soft while she's like this.

but isn't the local economy terrible? what if we start exporting out of the region instead?
>>
>>2535994
There is that gnome caravan that travels around, maybe we could talk to them about exporting if we run into them
>>
>>2535998
that is exactly what we should do later.
>>
>>2535928
ask Bee mom the queen how shes been. we've recently got a new carnivorous plant, somehow. We were also thinking of making some deal with the traveling gnomes.

should we cast Protection from Good & Evil on ourself whenever we're in towns so we don't pollute the place?

>Roll 12/20
>Economy and Necromancy
>Necronomy.

While you're lounging with Bee Mom it's extremely easy to lay back, rest, and calm your thoughts- extending the length of your telepathic commands and allowing you accessing to fiddle around with your minions. The Queen naps on you while you do so, being pregnant is quite tiring.

You find you can mediate some very small amount of control to the Skeletal Mage and in doing so extend your "broadcasting" range due to the creations especially super-natural, supernatural nature:
>+Amount of Undead controlled increased by 2 for each Skeletal Mage/Undead Caster you control.+
From there, you give out a few simple commands, write in his prepped spell list, and begin working on a few things at home.

>>2535969
>See if we can get Bee Mom's hive better tools.
>Roll 6/20

Most of your minions are busy and Avarice is a bit of a Neet, but you somehow still manage to micromanage enough assistance between your golems, demon, and nymph summon to deliver a care package of excess metal tools you had lying about. It takes.. a couple hours to do, but they eventually arrive and you can stop acting constipated.
Bee Mom is happy. "Mon petit scarabée est un gentil garçon, il veille toujours sur moi et sur les filles. Il est trop bon pour une vieille femme comme moi." She seems to have made herself a little sad with that last comment and hugs onto you- she's maybe a few heads taller than the Gobbo, but still a convenient cuddling size.

Holding onto her, you just talk. Just talk, nothing crazy.
You ask her how she's doing, you tell her about those carnivorous plants you found. "We c'ud 'elp 'ou with that 'ou know. we'ar always 'eppy' to 'elp. " You're beginning to finally pick up a little bit of the language, but it's still very rough.
This turns into a bit of a discussion, but you vaguely come to learn the Bee Women can and do grow all sorts of things if they so desired to and they could get a hold of the Gnomes for you; "Nous n'avons aucune utilité pour l'argent ici, donc nous n'avions aucune utilité pour ces petits hommes. Mais, si ça te rendra heureux, Maman pourrait voir."

Bee Mom then goes back to holding and laying onto you- the other Bee Women can't sleep with her in this state, so she's been quite lonely.

uh, I'm getting a little worried with how often she keeps calling herself old while acting depressed and tired...

please don't kill Bee Mom

>>2536082
She's just middle age and pregnant, don't be fear mongering!! She's in her Bee Woman early 40's (23'ish Human years) and got plenty of time left in her!! I mean. at least 10, 20 more years.
>>
>>2536092
I'm just paranoid and remember some of the drama from the Cyclops and Homounculus civs heh

THanks for running friendo, fun as always

I'm happy we managed to make our Skeleton Mage finally.
>>
>>2536092
should we be worried about the hole?
>>
>>2536109
Which one? There are many holes we've dealt with in this quest.
>>
>>2536092
So I take it the memory "gaps" when we tried to explain to the Avarice Demon what happened when we learned Mind Blast were around that voice? Do we at least know we learned a new Psychic Spell?
>>
>>2536114
the one that was dug deep by our undead minions.
>>
>>2536124
I know, I was joking about all the "action" our character has see.
>>
>>2536122
>Do we at least know we learned a new Psychic Spell?

Yes, you know and are aware of all your Psychic Abilities even if you don't necessarily know about or understand them.
Hypothetically speaking: if you're ever deprived of your spell books- you'd still be able to 'prepare' them like you would normally a long with a few spells you've just used too much to ever forget.
(like Ghost Hand. Ghost Hand has quietly become your signature spell.)
>>
>>2536109
>should we be worried about the hole?

Probably not.
It should be deep enough.
>>
>>2536134
>(like Ghost Hand. Ghost Hand has quietly become your signature spell.)
Force projection is so damn useful, of course we've spammed it and basically burned it into our memories.
>>
>>2536140
Should we worry about what ever is in there when we finally take a peak?
>>
>>2536134
>>2536142

why haven't we done this yet?
>Ghost Hand: “Mancy, extend out your own spirit, allowing you to manipulate objects from a safe distance without physically touching them. Also allows physical interaction with ethereal beings/ghosts.”
That's almost like a stand. We're our own stand!

I can neither confirm nor deny that maybe Ghost Hand when evolved and developed does in fact turn into a spell that perhaps has some coincidental similarities to the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and their aforementioned stands.

This is already starting to show up, but many spells have more advanced or 'evolved' forms of themselves. Stronger, more complex, and refined. Especially Mancy which behave pretty much like Avatar the last airbender 'bending', but I obviously couldn't call it bending.

Does no one but remember actually doing that to the first Poe and it's wisp minions we encountered way back on the farm that had the ant problem? Because we totally did that. Well actually we combined a bunch of Ghost Hands into one giant fist to smash the Poe but close enough.
>>
Time to update the list anons so feel free to point stuff out.

>>Attach jacko lanterns to headless zombies then attempt to reanimate(poes are somehow involved)
>>Attach haunted Skulls to headless zombies and skeletons
>>Experiment with ice magic and see what happens if we concentrate it enough
>>See what happens if we cultivate natural miasma among materials to see what would naturally arise
>>Determine the lengths of inherent 'muscle memory' of undead lets see how far it goes
>>See what happens if we attempt to animate leather, bits of bone, flesh, and sinew
>Create vats of special alchemy solutions to store corpses and imbue them with special properties
>>Experiment with flora/fauna that can coexist with undead and miasma
>>Use disease magic to keep our plants/animals safe
>>Experiment with disease magic to create our own plagues
>Attempt to upgrade preexisting spells
>Create demonic pools to evolve demons
>Recruit minions with differing skill sets and magic
>Create more officer undead to increase command cap
>Upgrade our dungeon
>Acquire steady material and equipment/supply sources
>Combine ice and undead

Feel free to add more stuff to the list.
>>
>>2536325
>Attach jacko lanterns to headless zombies then attempt to reanimate(poes are somehow involved)
Didn't we try that? I vaguely remember the results, be it with a regular pumpkin, a wisp Lantern, a skeleton body or a zombie body.
One result ended with the undead that fought back? I think it was a jack o lanterns smelly) that created a powerful poe after the death of its vessel. Others were when the pumpkin heads rotting.

>Attach haunted Skulls to headless zombies and skeletons
Wouldn't that make sort of typical undead minions?

>See what happens if we attempt to animate leather, bits of bone, flesh, and
Really it sounds like it like it would be any other undead. Except unable to support its own weight....that is unless it floats as though it was being worn by some invisible figure....or miasma flows opening through the armor....still it doesn't quite fit the necromancy thing.

>Create demonic pools to evolve demons
That sounds very unwise

>Feel free to add more stuff to the list
Make an army of small round boys but figure out how to give them a little intelligence
>>
Hold a fucking moment now. We are a primordial caster of the frost....and we haven't made any ice cream yet? What the fuck? We should try making some ice cream with goats milk and bee women honey. I bet mom would like that.
>>
>>2537540
I wasn't the one who made the list anon I just compiled a list of all the stuff anons wanted to do.

The key somehow involves using Poes over wisps but it needs more research. That's the only big hint we have so far.

The use of haunted skulls I think might have been an attempt to upgrade undead minions and reuse the headless corpses.

It relates to creating necromantic objects more than weird minions.

The use of Demonic pools is the only way to actually upgrade demon minions. They gotta soak in the stuff relating to their vice. So think a pool of money for the Avarice Demon to soak in and evolve into something stronger.

>>2537765
We made booze. But yeah the creation of ice cream and fermented foods are lacking.
>>
>>2538227
Kefir, Sauerkraut, pickled vegetables, yogurt, milk to cheese. I especially want the cheese. What if we can make a special kind of cheese from bee women vomit?
>>
>>2536185
we we can successfully make delicious ice cream from goats milk and other junk, could we use a duo of skeleton mages to Dark Cumulus the merch out of the region to sell?
>>
>>2539570
*if
>>
Giant undead armadillos just rolling around making roadkill of anything that doesn't get out of their way
>>
>>2542786
>not a giant round boy golem
Do you remember if those two amazon friends we made cleared out that trolls cave? If there is a whole lot of dead things there, we should totally take them, less they reanimate and cause havoc.
>>
>>2539570
>could we use a duo of skeleton mages to Dark Cumulus the merch out of the region to sell?

>Spooky Skeleton on an evil cloud flying around trying to sell people Ice Cream.

Somehow I don't think people would be too enthused about that, not to bully or discourage brain storming ideas.
>>
>>2542909
No no I'm glad you pointed that out to me. To avoid people seeing the spooky cloud they can travel by night, but traveling during the day (inside a wagon with a heavy canvas roof) would be tricky. The 'why would it be tricky' is figuring out where are we going to find a wagon for the skeletons and ice cream to hide in until nightfall, and and if it would be nessasary to have some creature or Construct pull said wagon. Let me think.
I think -if any other Anon would be interested in the idea come Friday- we would need:
>a Large Wagon
>A gobby to act as the face and leader
>the two skelly nerds
>possibly a real horse trained to be comfortable around necromancy
>>Between the two they should know:
>Rot and/or Preserve to preserve the food
>Protection from Good & Evil to hide from paladins and clerics
>Frost Breath to keep the food from melting
>Dark Cumulus to obvious trasport
>Séance to keep in contact
>Ghost Hand because it's versatile
>>
>>2542909
Actually the protect from Good and evil spell might hide it enough from the horses, but they will got ornery if they're flying on a cloud.
What if we made an ice boy with enough dark crystals to overcome the melting heat of sunlight on place of a pair of horses to pull the wagon?
>>
>>2543031
We should extended-borrow one of the Chalet's flying carriages
>>
>>2543041
Eh. I know we don't like the centipede demon, but I don't want to make an enemy of the vampire community. Then again, I don't see why they would need any gold or other junk.
But their transport is pretty swagger.
>>
>>2543041
Wait but we cant keep the skeletal horses, riders anecpossibly not the wisp lanterns.
