<You are Chris Bowery, high school student and juvenile delinquent. Or so you were, until an untimely death saw the end of your boring life. Now, you find yourself trapped, along with several others, in an unforgiving death game orchestrated by an enigmatic black sphere known only as Gantz. Its rules are simple: kill its monstrous targets or die. With the promise of a way out, and Gantz's technologically advanced arsenal as your driving force, can you live through the agony of life after death? Or will your mind and body break like the hundreds of others that lived before you?>

<Can you survive Gantz?>

For this thread, we will have a few tweaks to the rules and combat. So, consider this a testing ground for an update to the system for later use in the quest.

<NEW> Rules:
1. Rolls will be counted on the average for the first 3 posts. Nat 20s and 1s no longer override, but can be stored on the consensus of the players.
2. Waiting time for votes will count for 20 min, unless 5 or more votes are submitted at which I will count the most popular after 5 minutes.
3. Write Ins are integrated into the narrative, so long as they're not too out of character or retarded.

Please no. This ALWAYS ends up shitty.
The previous dice system worked perfectly for gantz.
>>
>>2532822
That's why he's doing this test run. Just relax anon and let's see how things roll.
>>
>>2532827
It's unnecessary. I've seen it done before and it's 100% always lackluster and feels terrible.
There's a particularly small chance that you'll do really badly or really well on the average. Which means it leans towards mediocrity constantly. There's none of the hype for a clutch roll like 3, 2, 18 because in the end that just becomes a little under 8. And if you get a roll like 19, 15, 2...that's just 12, still really mediocre compared to what could have been with the 19.
Averaging the rolls just results in mediocrity, 90% of the time.
>>
>>2532857
Well i have never seen before. So i will try if in the end it's shit we cna just ask to return to the normal dice system.

The thrashing stereo in your room served as a backdrop to that evening's fun. The speakers thrumming with the sounds of war and System of Down as you continued to increase your kill-streak. It was only ever so interrupted by the shouts of rage and the occasional screaming kid. Your dad had bought you ever single Call of Duty in the last seven years, but the community and the games never really seemed to change all that much. So was a Sunday evening for Chris Bowery, age 16, or it was now considering that you were booted out of ST. Albans Private school.

Caught up in a violent stint with some rich bitch named Kyle. You hated his kind the most, the kind of shit that thought they could do anything they wanted just because their dad was an executive in bank. Never liked the guy, but man did he cross the line when you started macking on your girl Kira that week. True, you weren't going out yet but you weren't gonna let some silver spoon shit get the drop on her first. So, you beat his ass, and then the teacher that tried to stop you from sending him to the hospital. Took the 2 juvie officers to get you down on the ground after it stopped. Fuck St. Albans though, you didn't need their dumb asses though.

You were currently the MVP on your team, and on a 12/3 KD for your efforts. Though, your team wasn't really fond of your words of 'encouragement'. You figured that their dumb asses wouldn't really learn unless you beat it into them that they sucked. Didn't really matter either way though, the round was coming to close. This shit always ended too damn quickly. A knock on your door brings your mind out of your state of violent immersion however.

"Yo Chris, dinner's ready," Dante spoke, or shouted over the din of your room, "You coming down or do you want me to leave it by your door?"

Your voice is about to give an answer, until you notice a faint glow of buish-green coming from your window.

'Picked the worst, FUCKING time you faggot ass ball.'

That laser shit was pretty cool the first time it happened, but right now, it was legitimately annoying. Of course, that was after you died, so you guess it was probably the second time it happened that you remember seeing it. Whatever the case, it was annoying, and that was that. You threw your controller away and quickly made for the suit under your bed, along with that big gun you took from your first encounter.

"Leave it!" you shout, as the laser makes it way down your head, "I'll be up all night! Thanks br-"

Your voice is cut off as the laser reaches your mouth and the rest of your body is subsequently whisked away.

That's why it's a test. Let us try out this system first and decide at the end of the episode.
>>
Also maybe this is just to show how mediocre Chris group actualy was.
>>
>>2532857
But a 19 in BO3 isn't even that much better than a 12 in average.
>>
>>2532904
12 is barely above the "dead average" result of 10 on a d20, while 19 is as close as you can get to a perfect roll without actually getting a crit.
>>
>>2532904
Why don't we roll the dice and see what happens? Also who is your bet on who is the leader in Chris group?
>>
>>2532921
Yeah, but the chances of rolling a 12 average is harder than rolling a 12 in BO3, so it's worth more.

>>2532923
Most likely Joshua, skilled with the gun and has the analytical mind.

Your eyes quickly adjust to the familiar sight of that weird apartment as the rest of the head is teleported there. You looked around regardless, just to see if what Joshua had said the previous night had been true. The light overhead, the wooden floor, the sliding doors leading to the nighttime view of DC, and that weird as fuck black ball sitting motionless in the back.

'Yup, it's that room.'

The only thing missing now was the team. Or at least, that's what Joshua wanted to call everyone that followed his rules. He was such a bossy ass, but even you had to admit he was an effective killer with those guns of his. Not as baddass as Oscar, that motherfucker could kill monsters with his bare hands, but effective nonetheless.

'Well...first time being first. Unless they all died again.'

You thought on that for a second, and how ungodly anti-climatic that shit would be. Ever since you got into that car accident on your way out of school a week or so back, things had only gotten weird but...very interesting. Between the aliens, crazy weapons, and Gantz itself, the whole death game shit was kind of a breath of fresh air from the confines of your normal life. Before, violence was something you didn't mind, but something about the atmosphere here made it seem all the more fun.

Perhaps it was how actions like killing were not only allowed, but outright encouraged. Not like you were killing people. Those fucking aliens deserved it, or that was the idea with Gantz giving you and the others points for their asses. To think it would all come to an end if you died again, and not even in the game itself. Now THAT, was some bullshit.

'Well...first one in, so...'

You head out to the hallway to put your suit on, carrying that big gun along with you. Considering how effective this thing was at protecting your ass on your first encounter, it's probably a good idea to put it on. You always wished the hallway had a lock on the door. Not that you were opposed to the idea of showing the girls your dick, but perhaps not the guys. Now that, would be some gay-ass shit.

As you're putting on the outer support, or whatever that weird strap thing was, you hear that familiar whirr of the laser beyond the hall door. A few moments later, it stops and you hear the sound of footsteps circling the apartment room. Judging by the weight of the footsteps, you guess it's probably Oscar with his muscular gait. You can't see past the door, but you figure he's probably wondering what to do being seemingly alone.

You don't pay it too much mind as you finish getting the suit on. As you finish getting the straps secured, you hear another whirr and the greeting of a slightly more gentlemanly tone. Oscar's voice is difficult to make out, given his thick accent, but you do recognize the name 'Joshua' in the exchange. As you press the buttons to shrink the suit to your skin, you hear the the meek greetings of an almost childish tone. With your suit ready, you head of the hallway to greet the others.

They quickly turn their heads to you, except for Haley who goes to hide in a corner. Your mind is taken off of her scuttling away by Joshua giving you slight smirk.

"Chris! So glad you could join us again," Joshua says in a somewhat mocking tone, "not that you really have a choice. Like we discussed last time, you're here til' you die again kiddo."

"Hab yuu been trraining?" Oscar asks, you can tell he's trying to make this accent more bearable, but it's not working, "Don't got alott of time tuu save yuu again men."

"Oh, don't worry Oscar," Joshua replies for you, "I always say, if you make it through the first one, you're probably already golden. Then again, there's always a time for a close call."

"Man, fuck off," you reply back, shooting him a glance of annoyance, "Don't need your damn patronizing this early, unless you have something actually useful to say."

"Relax Chris," Joshua says, chuckling a little, "having a bit of banter before your next big hunt isn't gonna kill anyone. But please, keep that attitude of yours under control, cause THAT might actually get someone killed."

Joshua's calm expression doesn't change throughout your exchange. You figure he's the kind of person that's pretty unphased by everything. Though, that always makes it all the more fun to figure out what really gets under his skin. A familiar whirr however, takes your gazes off of each other and towards a female figure to your right.

"Hey Linda, how's it going?" Joshua asks, turning to her as her teleportation finishes, "Ready for another night on the town?"

"Only if you're paying the tab," Linda replies, shooting him a snide look, "not gonna lie, could really go for some tahitian treats right about now. Grading term papers is a fucking LOAD with those little shits in my class."

"Now kidding," Joshua smirks, and shakes his head, "at least it's just papers. I have to lie through my teeth at every complaint from the neediest children this side of DC. Middle schoolers have nothing on High school kids, though, I guess I've already told you enough about that."

"Yeah, that's what you get for getting a Psych degree," Linda remarks, while Joshua's eyes narrow, "Anyways, glad to see the rest of the group is still alive. How you doing Oscar? The wife expecting another kid again?"

Oscar only nods yes in reply.

"Hey man congrats, though, that's now 3 on your payroll," she states, giving him a look of worry and then shifting her glance to Haley, "Hey Haley, stop being so damn shy all the time. We already did the suit thing, you know no one is getting embarrassed having it on."

She nods her head but doesn't leave her small corner.

"Jeez, whatever floats your boat," she says nonchalantly, then turns to you, "What about you Chris? You ready for some fun tonight, or you gonna pussy out like Haley?"

"I guess," you say, somewhat annoyed at Linda's tone, "just don't be an ass like Joshua. One patronizing voice is enough for this room."

"Oh man," Linda chuckles a little, and then turns to Joshua, "you hear that Josh? Someone thinks your 'words of optimism' aren't all that helpful."

"And he's gonna prove me right about that dying part if he keeps acting like this," Joshua says, his tone changing to incredulity, "Have you actually prepared for this Chris? You really ready here?"

"Bitch," you start, earning a look of amusement from Linda, "I'm already in my suit and I got my boom stick. What do you think?"

"HAHAHhahaha!" Linda let's out a genuine laugh of amusement, before she replies, "Glad to see that little attitude of yours hasn't faded kid. Always liked that about you actually, don't take shit from anyone."

For the a split second after Linda's laughing fit, you swear you saw Joshua's brows furrow in annoyance. You've kind of liked that about Linda compared to the others. She was less nonsense than Joshua, and more talkative that Oscar. While she still followed Joshua's orders, she wasn't above telling him off whenever she could get the chance. Almost reminded you of your old nannies back when you were a kid. They were some of the few people you knew that weren't afraid of your dad.

The thought however is stopped short when a strange whirr signals the arrival of a new member. It's an asian lady, probably as old as Linda but with a lot less stress marks on her face. Looking around the room, her gaze finally comes across the three of you.

"Where...am I?", she asks, still looking around, "The tracks...this isn't the metro line. Who are you guys?"

"You're dead bitch," you reply, a joking tone taking over your voice, "And this is the afterlife. Welcome."

The woman's eyes widen in response. She almost lets out a scream before a hand in the back of your head knocks a bit of your edge off. Joshua just shakes his head at you and turns to look at the woman.

"Well, not exactly," Joshua starts, "But you did die, that I can assure you of. Let's just call this a second chance..."

You don't listen to the whole conversation before Linda motions to you. You move closer and she pulls in next to you.

"Josh is going to be a while," she says to you, and then looks back at the wall, "Why don't keep Haley company for a bit? This one's probably not going to be the only one coming in tonight."

You nod in agreement, though, you have your own reasons for talking to Haley. Though, anything is probably better than hearing Joshua explain the process of Gantz again. You make your way to her corner of the room, and she only lifts her head up as you stand right in front of her. Haley wasn't exceptionally pretty, she wasn't even as tall as you, but she was attractive in her own might.

You figured it was probably her ass, considering how well rounded her hips were in proportion to her upper body. If she wasn't so damn unapproachable so much of the time, you probably would have gone for her already. Figures that a suicide victim would probably not be the most stable person around.

"Chris?" she asks meekly, "What is it? Aren't you gonna talk to the others?"

"Hell no," you state with some scorn, "Joshua's driving me up the wall today for some reason. They guy's got our backs but damn if he isn't annoying me tonight."

"H-he's just trying to help us out," Haley states, somewhat scared at your tone, "He's worried about you, Chris. We kind of all are...considering you...well..."

"Me, well, what? Spit it out Haley," you reply, "you got a problem with me too now?"

"N-no, nothing like that," she says, looking back at you apologetically, "It's just that...last time...you got a little too...eager. It scared me, and it scared Joshua..."

'Again with this?,' you think to yourself, 'You're lucky you've got a nice ass Haley.'

"So I charged at a couple of aliens and blew their brains out," you say, thinking about the first hunt, "big deal. I'm not dead, and personally, I think Joshua is overreacting."

"I just..." Haley says, but clings to her final words, "I don't want to see anyone die again. Not you...not Joshua, Linda, Oscar or anyone else that comes here. It's...too horrible."

You almost shake your head at how naive this girl could be sometimes. There was a fine line between being an optimist and being an idiot, and Haley was someone who really swung for both of those sides. In spite of this however, she didn't cry at her explanation like you figured she would have. She just hung her head in silence at her statement. The silence clung firmly to the corner, so much so that...you were starting to hear Joshua's voice again...

'Gonna have to break the ice...again...'

"Hey Haley," you start, and she turns her head to you, "I ever tell you that, you got a nice ass? Cuz, you do...just, thought you should know."

Instantly, her eyes grow wide and her cheeks turn red at your blunt statement. Haley almost starts shaking in how absolutely taken aback she is given your saying. A few embarrassed squeaks escape her lips before she attempts to speak again. Or it would have, it an all too familiar tone hadn't interrupted her.

Gantz's message finalizes and the room is now staring at the two images in the ball's screen. They look surprisingly human given the ball's designation of them, or at least way more human than the first ones you fought against. The odd description aside you don't linger around it all that much.

'Dumb info again,' you think, and the look at the four new faces around the ball, 'Damn, guess Haley kept my attention a lot more than I thought.'

Around the ball there are several more people than before. Two black guys, both around Joshua's age given their size, the asian lady, and a...middle school boy. Out of all of them, this one is the odd one out given his age. You figured there wasn't an age limit to the game, but...it was strange to see nonetheless.

"So...what's this all about?" the asian lady asks, looking Joshua, "You said this was all real, right? So...what's this about...killing things?"

"Alright fuckwits, listen up!" you start, shooting everyone a shit-eating grin, "In a few moments, that thing is going to open up, and-"

As soon as you say this, the ball opens up with a loud clang, and the twin racks of guns and equipment bound out. The new guys close to it jump back, and start looking at you given your correct prediction for Gantz. Joshua is looking at you now with a raised brow, yet you can tell he's trying to keep down his seething. This only makes your grin wider.

"Like I was saying," you continue, "Once it opens up, you'll grab a gun and case if you want to live through tonight. We're killing illegal aliens in this hunt, we don't take kindly to them loiterin' and ruinin' our earth."

That last part earns you a look of bewilderment from Oscar, but you just ignore it. All of the new guys however, just give you a glance of either skepticism, amazement or fear. The asian woman doesn't look all that convinced, yet the others are a bit more disturbed by your words.

"Yeah, alright Donald Trump," one of the black guys laugh you off, "Do you really think anyone here's buying that? Like, us dying and being alive again is one thing but-"

"Hold on a minute," the other black guys says, "What do you mean killing? Those weapons...aren't real, right?"

"They look real," the middle school kid says, lifting an X-Gun "but...how do they work? Also, what is with the suits, been wondering about that since we got in."

"They keep you alive," Linda says, lifting up a case, "I suggest you put it on if you want to live. And we mean this for everyone, this isn't some TV show or some other fake bullshit, this is do or die."

Some of the new people still have some skepticism in their faces, yet you can tell Linda's voice may be the blunt force needed for most of them. You look behind her and see that Joshua's eyebrows are starting to twitch. Figures that someone overseeding his authority would be thing to get under his skin. The others don't catch wind of this, but start for the ball for either a weapon or for the suits.

"Are you gonna help them?" Haley asks, moving to your side, "Even if they wear it, they won't know how to use them. Same with the guns..."

"Depends," you say, earning a curious look from Haley, "If I do it for them, what will you do for me?."

"I...eh..." Haley stammers a little, and then pulls out her phone from her hood pocket, "I'll give you my phone number...if...you want to hang out or something. I'm sorry...I don't have much to give you Chris..."

"Alright," you sigh, looking at her phone, "let's get to it then. But you're helping me."

Haley nods at the condition and follows you towards the others.

"I would like to have everyone tell us your names," Joshua states as you and Haley approach the group, "It'll make it easier to communicate when we're on the field. Include a bit of what happened just so we can establish rapport."

This was something he did when you were first brought in. Trying to be friendly and communicate with everyone was something he did to start. Though, considering how much you and Gantz stole his thunder, he could just be trying to recuperate his lost bravado of leadership. All of them look at Joshua with varying looks, but the asian woman is the first to speak up.

"I'm Lei," she says, and everyone in the room pays attention, "I was an operator working for WASHFM, until...I feel from a staircase."

"I am Daniel," the shorter haired black man says, and then points to his friend, "and this is Ben. We work for an office not far from Alexandria. We got in a car accident."

"I'm Charlie," the middle school kid says, and then pulls out the suit from the case, "and...how do you put this on?"

"There's 2 layers," you say, pointing to your own suit, "there's the main suit, and the straps that go on top. Head out to the hallway if you want to change, and press the buttons if you want that to stick to you."

The kid nods and heads out to the hall with the suit in hand. Daniel is still looking at you with a look of slight disbelief.

"Question," he asks, and you don't like his tone, "How the hell is that skintight supposed to protect us? For another matter, how the hell are they supposed to make you better just for putting it on?"

"Why don't you just take a swing at me then," you reply, grinning at him, "You seem to have a problem with me big guy. Why don't you let a little of it out?"

"Oh, really now?" Daniel says, getting up but with Ben looking between you and him with worry, "Alright then, but remember that you asked for it."

Daniel pulls his fist back and releases it with great force, for a regular human. The fist's momentum is dead after it reaches your stomach area. It doesn't even cause a ripple or flinch. Daniel and Ben stare in disbelief as you get another wide grin on your face. Daniel doesn't like this at all and launches another punch. It doesn't even reach you as you catch it in mid air, and easily pull his arm to the side from his hand alone. He shouts in pain, and you release him when Haley nudges you to do so. Ben is helping his friend up as he's recovering.

"Convinced?"

The muscular augments on your suit retract as Daniel tries to soothe the part where your grip held him. You'd experimented with the suit on your first hunt, and found that its strength enhancing properties allowed you to shatter wood and brick with a single punch. You only imagine the bruise he's going to have before the laser teleports him.

"Alright man, we get it," Ben says, looking at you with a bit of fear now, "We'll put on the suit, just...no more demonstrations alright?"

"Grab one from the rack," Joshua says, pointing at the opened Gantz, "and change when you can. Gantz doesn't take long to teleport us out to our hunting grounds after it shows its message."

Ben nods and heads to the rack, giving a scared look as he passes you. The Asian lady named Lei follows soon after, with her own worried look passing you by. Joshua approaches you as this goes on, a more stone-like face replacing his once calm demeanor. He may be holding back his anger or, even more terrifyingly, gratitude.

"I'd say I don't approve of utilizing fear to get a point across," Joshua says somewhat aggravatingly, but a smile soon betrays his tone, "but, I won't say that wasn't effective Chris. Just don't haze them too hard next time, otherwise we'll be out of members before we even start a hunt."

'I think I liked him better when he was being an ass...'

Joshua moves away from you as he goes to the new members. You don't listen to much of what he says over there, but he's probably explaining the guns to them along with Linda. The moment is stopped however, as you feel a poke on your ribs. The sudden feeling causes you to flinch a little before turning around.

"Hey, Chris, right?", says Charlie as he presents one of the X-Guns to you, "This is working? Cause, I pulled the trigger and nothing really happens beyond the screen lighting up."

"For most of the guns, there's 2 triggers," you start, and point to the X-Gun's double triggers, "Pressing one causes the screen turn on and show an X-ray of whatever you point at it. Pressing them both shoot it, simple as that."

"That's kind of cool," Charlie replies, trying to accurately point the gun, "Kind of like a built in idiot key. What does it shoot?"

"Hell if I know," you state, earning a confused look from the kid, "Well, I guess the bullets, or whatever it shoots, are invisible and explode after a delay. Besides that, I am kind of in the dark about it."

"Well...if we are fighting aliens, I guess it makes sense," he says, and then looks at Haley, "Joshua mentioned that this 'game' or whatever goes on until you die. How long have you guys been here?"

"Well...its Chris and myself's second mission," Haley says, and then looking at the Gantz suit in her corner, "We came in at the same group. I used to go to his school, before...I killed myself."

"Whoa...I'm sorry...", Charlie replies his eyes looking down a little, "I got hit by a truck on my way back from soccer practice. Mom doesn't pick me up anymore, but the walk back home isn't that long."

It looks like Haley is about to say something back, but a startling shriek emerges from the group in front of you. Lei, who managed to get her suit on, is hit by Gantz's teleporting laser. Linda is trying to calm her down, but her clawing at the air isn't really helping. You sigh a little at her response, and motion to Haley.

"Get your suit," you say, pointing at the crumbled up suit in the corner, "You can probably put it on when we get there. I'll grab you a gun."

She nods and quickly goes to the corner. Before you can ask her what kind of gun she wants, the laser miraculously starts on Haley's head.

'Great...what did she use last hunt...?'

You grab a Y-Gun for Haley. Given her tendency to hesitate when killing during your first hunt, it makes sense to pair her up with something that won't outright kill something. Then again, you're just assuming that laser the gun deploys is of the teleporting variety. Before moving away from Gantz, you give the rack another look as an idea pops in your head.

'There's no rule against having more than just one gun, right?'

You quickly turn back to the rack and start looking for a bit more firepower. Turns out, there's only so much left after the new guys took most guns themselves; only a two X-guns and a Y-Gun remain. You take one of the X-Guns and the remaining Y-Gun and place them in your holsters. As you go to pick up your X-Rifle near the door, a shout of your name snaps your vision back.

"What are you doing with that many guns man?" Joshua says, as he approaches you. It soon comes to dawn on you that only you, Charlie and him are left in the room

"No rule against carrying this much," you reply, a smile of accomplishment building on your face, "Besides, it pays to be prepared. Right, kid?"

Charlie nods his head in reply, but Joshua's gaze doesn't falter from you.

"You do realize that if the enemy figures out how to use those," Joshua continues, looking very seriously at you, "we'll be in a lot of trouble? We've had that shit happen before, it's not pretty to see it happen with smart aliens."

You roll your eyes at the absurdity of his statement, and start up a reply, before Gantz's laser begins teleporting you away. You smile at the good timing, and just wave Joshua's now frustrated form away.

'Got 'em!'

Your vision paradoxically clears to dark sight. What you expected the street lights of DC or the glow of a nighttime skyline is replaced instead by a black, eerie forest and stream. Had it not been for the bluish glow on the suits' buttons, you wouldn't have even made out your hand, much less your teammates around you. Wherever you may be, even the glow of the moon seems to be frightened to come out.

The voices and movement of your team are spread out around the stream but the majority seem to be heading with Linda. Since her suit carries a map and navigator, it makes sense that she'll be a primary source of info for the new guys. Only Haley seems to be alone again, with her form sitting on a large rock nearby clutch her suit close.

It doesn't take long for Joshua to arrive close by. You notice his features have returned to his usually calm demeanor, but there's still that serious tone to his voice as he addresses you.

"You'll do well to keep those safe, Chris," he says, nudging at you with his X-Rifle, "it's more than just your life out there. Remember that the next time you act recklessly."

Joshua doesn't wait for a response from you before he starts moving away towards the rest of the group.

'What are you?,' you think, looking him over as he walks away from you, 'my fucking dad?'

"Alright everyone!" Joshua says, raising his voice to be heard by the group, "This will be a simple operation. Just follow Linda or myself, and you will make it out alive."

As this happens, Charlie's body teleports behind you as he also takes in the strange sight of the forest area around you.

You make your way towards Haley. She seems to be holding onto her Gantz suit a bit tighter than before as you She's either too scared to head to the forest alone or too embarrassed to put on her suit without some kind of assurance of privacy. You're not a few feet away before her head perks up at the sound of your steps.

"Hey, got your gun," you say, handing over the Y-Gun, "This way, you can be useful and not have to kill anything. Just remember though, you owe me one when we get back."

"Of course, thank you," she says, holding the gun on her lap, "I left my phone in my hoodie back in the room, so we'll be set afterwards. Also, could I-"

Charlie's splashing footsteps and a small shout of 'Hey!' interrupts Haley's request. He approaches the two of you, and you notice the small, glowing display on his wrist. In spite of his size, Charlie's radar seems to be the same size as Linda's own; strange.

"Chris, how much danger are we in?" he asks, looking at you with some fear in his eyes, "You said it was a hunt...but, what the hell are the things we're hunting. That message didn't really say much besides just names and some weird shit."

"Not gonna lie, it's pretty dangerous," you say, earning a more worried expression from Charlie, "But, you just gotta stick with the group and follow Joshua's instructions. He's a bit of an ass, but he's good at what he does."

Charlie is about to respond before Joshua's shout to the group to start moving resounds to everyone. Everyone starts heading up the incline of the forest, but not before Linda heads towards you and the others.

"Hey, you guys wanna get moving?" she says, looking over the three of you, "It's a big area, with a lot of ground to cover this time. We got 2 hours, so let's not waste any time."

"We'll catch up," you state, earning a curious look from Linda, "Gotta help Haley with something. Don't worry, it won't take too long."

"Fine, just watch each other's backs here," Linda replies, but whispers close to you, "Joshua's keeping an eye on you, so keep the aggro to a minimum, Chris. Don't make me regret leaving you alone, alright?"

"Yeah, no worries," you whisper back, and Linda just nods before moving away. A second later, Haley gets up from the rock and moves close, putting a hand on your shoulder.

"Hey...you don't have to-", she starts, but you just pull her hand from your shoulder.

"Just, tell me what you want help with," you say, looking back at her, and then her suit, "Though, I think I may have an idea already."

She smiles sheepishly, and looks down at the ground before saying, "Thank you Chris."

<>

Haley had chose a small stack of bushes a few yards away from the stream to change into her suit. That had been five minutes ago. Between the slight yelps beyond the bush, probably a stray branch or thorn poking her awake, and the nighttime sounds of the forest, you were getting a little bored. You were about 2 more seconds from firing your rifle into the night sky to clear the monotony when Charlie approached you.

"Chris, do you know how this works?" he asks, while fiddling with the buttons and knobs on the radar, "Been trying to zoom out and see where we are, but it only moves the screen slightly."

"Well, two things to understand," you reply, and then point to his screen, "One, we only have a designated area for the hunt, stick to it if you don't want your head to blow up. Two, you zoom out with the middle button."

This earns an "Oooooh,' from Charlie as he quickly picks up on your instructions. Sure enough, the map screen zooms out to reveal a larger area. Oddly enough, it seems the forest is only a portion of the hunting ground, as a suburban area appears not a mile or so away.

"I'm going to guess the dots are us right?" he says, and you nod in reply, "The others seem to be heading into that town then. But...what are those two other dots near the stream?"

You eye the radar at his new information. Sure enough, there are two signatures near the stream where you guys were just at.

'Shit..."

"That's them, the aliens," you say, earning another look of worry from Charlie, "Listen to me, very carefully. I'll go on ahead and see what we're dealing with."

"Wait, you're going al-", Charlie starts, but you quickly shush him.

"They're only a few yards away from us," you continue, pointing at the dots now moving along the middle of the stream, "We need to stay quiet if we don't want to draw them closer. Keep Haley company, and shout if you see something."

"Wait, but what about the others," he retorts, panic building a bit in his voice, "Shouldn't we try to tell them or-"

"They're too far away," you say, beginning to move out towards the forest, "honestly, I'd rather just take the risk myself since I am more familiar with this shit. But, if anything happens, just take Haley and run back to the others, alright?"

Charlie is looking at you with genuine worry in his eyes. You feel he probably wants to tell you off for being reckless, but he just nods his head and heads close to the bush again. You nod in reply and start making your way back to the stream. This time however, you take care to watch your every step for crackles of noise underfoot, lest you draw those aliens close.

<SUCCESS>

While you've always been at the spearhead of the 'full front assault' idea, the situation calls for a more subtle approach. However cowardly this could be seen as, maybe it would be for the best to take a slightly less reckless plan for now. Or at least something that made you look more baddass in front of those two. In spite of your inexperience in stealth, you do manage to make it to a small overlook to the stream.

You quickly hide behind a tree as it comes into view more clearly. Or as clearly as it would get with how dark it is right now. You quickly scan the perimeter and see two figures moving alongside the opposite bank, though...they look smaller than you had expected them. You follow them close, moving behind foliage to mask your presence. This plan ends however, the moment your foot makes contact with a branch and a loud snap rings beneath your foot.

The two figures stop and begin looking around for the source of the noise. You quickly press yourself back behind a tree and hope that they ignore it. Unfortunately, the sound of steps and then splashing start making their way towards you.

'Fuck...guess, there's no choice...'

You have to preempt a strike if they've found you. Your hand lies on your rifle as you wait for the steps to get closer, yet they stop abruptly along with some odd sounds from the river. It sounds almost like the voices of children. You peek out from beneath your cover, and look at the two figures through the scope on your rifle. Sure enough, they seem to be normal, caucasian children.

A boy and a girl, that look probably around 8 or 9 each, are crouching near the stream looking at something in the water. The girl seems to have brought the boy's attention there, as she quickly pulls out something flat from beneath the river. If you didn't know any better, you'd say it was a shell or a silver dollar, as both of them stare and ogle their discovery.

Just asking, but the shape of the river here is the same as what we saw at the radar screen? Are they in the same place we found those blips? For all we know, the shells or whatever they are picking up might be the aliens.

There's a strange hesitation in your arms as you aim down the sights on your rifle. You look down the scope to make sure. Much to your surprise, even the skeletal structure of these two appears human. You shake your head at the oddity before you and on what to do next.

'Damnit...I don't know,' you chide yourself in your mind, ''Goddamnit, Haley better have that suit on....'

You slowly pull away from the overlook in the stream and make your way back. There's a crawling pain in your gut as you pull away however. They were aliens, right?

<>

"Are you okay Chris," Charlie says, as he and Haley welcome you back, "Did you find the ali- What happened? You look a little shook."

Your face had taken a more glower look as you approached. Not at sadness or regret, but uncertainty on what you could have done back there. You mentally slap yourself awake however as you approach the two of them.

"Yeah, I am actually not sure now," you reply, earning a concerned look from Haley, "I found two kids near the stream, but they didn't look or act like aliens though. I wasn't sure on what to do, so I came back to get some reassurance."

"The targets can't be children, right?" Haley says, looking at you, "I mean, the bigger aliens look dangerous enough but...it can't ask us to kill children. It's too horrible to even think about..."

"Let me just confirm it at least," you say, motioning Charlie close along with the radar, "As far as I know, only us and the aliens show up on the radar, nothing else. For all I know, those bastards are invisible and just so happened to be walking near where those kids were."

The theory earns you a look of worry from both of them, but you ignore them to scan over the radar. Even if you were right though, if the aliens were in the forest you figure they wouldn't hesitate to kill those children on sight. As you look over the radar's screen, the dots showing up near the stream remain static in the same position you remember you saw those kids in. It doesn't last long however, as the dots begin moving in unison again, but this time on the way out of the forest itself. The correlation is just too uncanny to ignore now.

"They're...aliens...", you say, squinting your eyes at the conclusive answer, "Those children have to be aliens. Even if they look and act the part, they aren't human."

Haley looks in horror at the screen and almost looks as if she's going to be brought to tears at the possibility of what this will entail. Charlie himself is somewhat disturbed by it as well, but just furrows his brows at the prospect. You all don't stare into the screen for very long, as a familiar tone plays in your ear.

"What is-whoa!" Charlie says, looking at the now red flashing radar screen, "what is that? I swear I didn't press anything."

'Damnit, they're in trouble.'

"It's an alarm," you state, with Charlie only looking towards the stream again, "Each one of the radars has one built in, but it shorts out the fuse. If Linda activated hers, then that means they found something really bad."

"We need to help them then," Haley says, pointing at the area where the trees disperse into road, "We can take the side route to the main street out of the forest. Charlie, you know how to activate the suit?"

"Actually, we need to take care of something before that," you state, which causes both of them to pause, "We need to get rid of those kids now. They're aliens, so they'll just add to whatever the hell else the others are dealing with if we don't deal with them."

"Chris...how could you say something like that?" Haley says, horror and disgust building in her voice, "They're just children for crying out loud, and you're talking about killing them as if they were just objects in your way. Even if they are aliens."

"We have no idea what those things are capable of," you retort, your voice growing darker, "they could be the most dangerous damn thing in the hunt for all we know. I'm not going to force you or Charlie to help me, but don't get in my way."

"Wait, do we have to kill them though?" Charlie interjects, a concerned look growing on his face, "There were only two targets on the screen and they didn't look like children. What if it-"

"Gantz counts all aliens in the hunting ground as targets," you coldly reply back, "If we don't kill them before the time runs out, the hunt ends and our points go with it. That means everyone that dies here, dies for nothing. Now stop talking, we're wasting time as is."

You start moving away towards the stream again, until you feel a tug on your arm. You turn your head to see Haley, clinging to your arm. She lifts her head up to you, and you see a few tears run down her face.

"Chris..please," Haley pleads, her voice growing frailer, "Don't do it...I beg of you. I can't see you become something like this. You're not a monster, you're Chris...a good person."

"Haley..."

+1 (Haley Kross)

"...fuck," you sigh, a very deep sigh, "let go of me. We'll regroup with the others on the other side of the stream."

"Oh, Chris," Haley exclaims in your arm, clearly not listening to your previous order, "Thank you, thank you so much for this. I know the others may not see it, but...I know you're a good person. I-"

"Let go already," you state again, this time shaking her a little, until she relents, "Just to be clear though Haley, if one of those kids proves dangerous after this, I won't hesitate to kill them right then and there."

Haley relents back a little at your statement, but hangs her head and nods in response. Charlie's own face is somewhat relieved as well, but appeared more understanding of the situation at hand. You don't think he would have had the guts to do it, but he wouldn't have tried to stop you like Haley just did.

"We haven't got the time to deal with this shit anyways," you say, looking back the others, "Let's get moving. And for the record, I'd better be getting more than just your number for this Haley."

"Chris...", she replies, her face growing red, "I...let's just...make it through this first."

Charlie nods, though retains an awkward stare at you and Haley. It doesn't last long, as the three of you begin making your way out of the forest. Haley's optimistic and naive outlook on the work was both a detriment but also a necessity for you. You didn't feel guilty taking advantage of someone this passive, yet you retained a bit of happiness to see her stay optimistic.

In the back of your gut however, you feel that you're making a mistake, the kind of mistake that could get someone killed. At the same time though...you get the feeling that whatever stopped you from killing those children back at the stream may be trying to veer your mind back this time as well. You just hope that this won't be something you come to regret down the line.

Alright, we'll call it here for now guys. This is the first part of the episode essentially complete, so we'll head out to the main battleground next session.

Not gonna lie, I was legit expecting you guys to go for killing the kids. Would have made for a sick fight, but it's something we'll just have to live by for now.

We will reconvene for Gantz: Quest next Friday at 7:00 PM EST.

Check up on my twitter for updates, scheduling changes and other goodies I will post.

Have yourselves a wonderful night /qst/. And god, it feels GOOD to be back!

I wonder if our actions here in Episode 0 are powerful enough to retcon the canon future. As in, if we play our cards right and Chris and Haley both survive and fuck each other, this retroactively (or is it anteroactively, because it affects the future?) makes Chris not a virgin in the quest's present? Or is everyone's fate set in stone here?

Even if these guys survive they will.mosy likely die the next hunt. Remember Erick only showed up on Chris's fourth hunt. Also does that mean that with Chris back we are closer to another five games streak? Or do they only count if you haven't died?

I just got here from the archives and I have to say, I haven't been enjoying a quest like this since the old days of tg.

This Chris bit is making a lot of sense too, he is probably resentful of leaders because Haley probably got killed after Joshua bailed on them. And he turned from annoying kid from fullblown psycho after that because he figures that everybody is gonna die anyway so why bother, he's actually becoming similar to Kyle that he hates so much( maybe there's hope for him)

Now, geberal comment, Erick is a fucking beast and I'm eager to move in with Paula and see what other developments we can have on our relationship.

An idea, since our ultimate plan is to get out of the game, Erick should tell Paula that they should start a diary without mentioning Gantz but just one another so they can remember each other after all this

"Chris...this thing isn't working all that well," Charlie says, a few shallow breaths coming from him, "you said focus but...it's kind of hard to do with...that alarm shit..."

"Just...I don't know man," you say, somewhat annoyed at his prattling, "I usually just get really pissed at something. That activates the suit well enough for me."

You had tried to explain how to activate the suit to Charlie as you had made your way out of the forest. Joshua and the others always said to 'focus', or something, to get the suit to activate. It worked well enough for you, hell even Haley, but Charlie was having some legitimate trouble with it.

Not that it would really matter now, as most of the suit's maneuvering in the forest was already done. It didn't take too long to exit the forest, as the alarm on Charlie's radar had quickly lead you in the direction of the others. Though, even as you exited the park, the amount of trees and darkness surrounding the area hadn't stopped.

"I've never been out here before," Haley started, looking at the sign showing the park's name, "It seems so peaceful. It's so...weird to think it's this close to the noise of the city..."

"We can think about that shit later," you state, looking over to the main road that led up a hill, "We're not that far from the others, so let's get moving. Also, keep on the lookout, if those aliens are close-"

"Actually...Chris..." Charlie starts, getting up from his knees, "The scanner just-"

A vicious howl cuts Charlie off from continuing his sentence. It almost sounds like a wolf, yet the sheer volume of the sound and the almost humanlike gargle in its wake shake the others to attention. Whatever the hell it was, it seemed to have come from the top of the road...veering into one of the houses...

"Shhh!," you cut him off, and motion both him and Haley to your side, "We need to move as a unit, but far enough that whatever the fuck that was doesn't get the drop on us. Just, listen up and follow my lead."

"I need both of you on my sides," you continue, starting to move to the main road, "I'll stay in the middle and tag little behind. If we see movement, we all will have a clear shot from any angle."

"W-wait...but that's gonna," Haley stammers, choosing her words carefully, "leave us out in the open. Joshua always says that we should try to stick to the sha-"

"I am not in the mood to hear Joshua's name right now," you hiss back at Haley, and the motion them again to join you up the road, "Now let's get moving. I'll leave you both behind if you don't hurry up."

Charlie and Haley hesitate, but realize that they probably have better chances of surviving with you than by themselves. It's not long before you hear the running sounds of boots coming to your sides, as they regroup with you. They adopt the forward stance as you head up the hill towards the dark, suburban neighborhood.

It might as well be, I mean, if there's vampires on the setting, lycantropes are not strange at all.
Ib4 we are killing a peaceful alien family like on the onion hunt
>>
>>2554032

The runner's high you're on has begun to kick in as you begin round about the many parked cars and single family homes surrounding the area. The feeling is something you were counting on as you and the others once again hear that ferocious howling now much closer. The sound almost sounds like it is right next to you with how loud it gets, almost takes your mind off of some of the people coming out of their homes to see what that commotion is about.

To the average, sleepy Washingtonian, the horrific sound might just be annoying enough to call the police or frightening enough to stay indoors. Either way, this could be annoying if they start making their way to the main fight. Not that you care about them, it's just that bodies make it difficult to run around without tripping.

"Why aren't they seeing us?" Charlie says, attempting to keep up pace with you both, "Is it the suit?"

"Hell if I know," you say, dodging a couple of people hanging out in the main road, "but they'll stay out of the way if they know what's good for them. What does the radar say, we have to be getting close."

"We're actually really close," Charlie replies, trying to multi-focus between his suit and the radar, while running, "There's three signatures still in the area, but I don't know who it might be. They should be right around the-"

Charlie's words are interrupted by the sound of a nearly 2 ton sedan tumbling like a toy across the street. The sound of metal and asphalt screeching together is soon overshadowed by a smear of blood on the side of the wrecked car. Then, the shape of an amalgam of beast and man quickly jumps on top of the wreck, snarling and pounding its massive gorilla like arms onto it. Its furry, form is marked with what looks like several massive bruises on its abdomen and chest, yet it doesn't relent at pounding whatever is beneath the car, and the car itself, into the road.

Charlie reels back from the sight alone, and Haley almost does so as well. The shouts and screams of several onlookers stare at the wrecked car and noise of its alarm blaring off. Yet, through all of this, only one thing goes through your mind.

'Bingo.'

If it can flip a car by itself, then there's probably not much you'll be able to do to it in melee. This is about the time when you wish Oscar was around with his hulk fists. That big bastard can't speak much english, but he can sure punch an alien.

You don't waste anymore time thinking about that however, as you quickly hoist up your rifle. Charlie follows your motion and pulls out his X-Gun, though given the range it probably won't hit. In retrospect, you mentally chide yourself for forgetting to tell him that. Haley hoists her Y-Gun, but that tremble in her hands is still there from the last hunt. Given the situation, it could be fear or hesitation to kill again.

You won't make their mistakes however, as you aim down the sights and draw a digital bead on the alien.

<BARE SUCCESS>

You let loose a shot from your X-Rifle at the alien, with Charlie following suit with his X-gun, meanwhile Haley seems to hold fire should the alien get closer. Yet as you look through the scope, you notice a rapid twitch from the alien's ears.

'It heard the shots?!', you almost shout, 'How the hell is...'

As far as you know, the rifle and the gun shouldn't be heard from the distance you're in. It couldn't have seen the muzzle flash given its direction. You stare forward out of the rifle as the alien swiftly dodges to the side of the wrecked car. The array of four shots blast harmlessly above the car and a few feet ahead of it. The alien flips over on all fours and now faces your group with a canine snarl and bared teeth.

While you knew that Charlie's shots wouldn't make the distance, you almost flinch in rage at your own shot getting dodged. All the while, Charlie starts shaking at the intimidating sight before him, though the same can't be said about Haley as she just readies herself for what's to come. As far as you know though, this could turn ugly in seconds if that alien gets close. The alien doesn't give you those seconds however, as it bounds in an feral four-legged run right for the three of you.

<FAILURE>

You let loose another shot from your rifle, as the muscular form of the alien comes barreling towards you. You don't even use the scope as its rapid advance closes the distance very quickly. In that brash decision however, you realize too late that it wasn't aiming towards you. The alien does a quick pivot on the asphalt to avoid your shot, and utilizes its swerving momentum to aim itself right at Charlie. You don't even have time for another shot as the alien's snarling form lunges right for Charlie's small frame.

He lets out a yelp as he tries to duck out of the way, but the alien's speed it too much for him. You let loose another shot, but it's too late to stop the alien from viciously pungling its front canines into Charlie's arm. He let's out an agonizing scream as the alien brutally shakes him and slams his body into the ground. The suit doesn't stand a chance at what you can only imagine is several thousand pounds of bite pressure, as blood seeps from now mashed up arm.

You see Haley jump from your side and aim right for the alien. There's a look of unusual determination on her as pulls the triggers, yet before the net leaves the gun, Charlie's body is thrown with impressive force right at her. They collide and tumble to the side, as the now bloody snout of the alien is staring right at you.

'Fuck...not like this...'

Whether it was your aim or the gun itself, something from your previous strategy isn't working.

Time to switch things up.

You drop the rifle, and bring up you fists in a ready stance. You were never taught martial arts, but a street fight is as good a teacher as any old Asian at a shopping plaza. As you do this, the alien carefully positions itself carefully, not dropping eye contact. If it's trying to sense your fear, then it's gonna have to look somewhere else for it.

You ready your suit, its own bulging muscles almost rivaling the alien's own in spite of your smaller stature. In that second of activation, the alien lunges forward with a snarling snout. Charlie's blood is still fresh on it, and it is coming right at you for more.

"COME GET SOME!!" , you shout, with fury to match the alien's own.

<Bare Failure>

The alien's massive gait comes charging at you, and you plant your feet firmly on the ground to meet it. Its gnashing teeth and look of pure rage would have intimidated most people, but you just meet it with your own fury. A shout of pure rage emerges from you as the alien lunges at you, mouth and claws bared. Maneuvering your arms to meet its arms, you meet the alien's full body charge head on.

The sheer impact almost causes you to go backwards, if it wasn't for the now cracking pavement underneath your feet. The alien's arms are locked with yours, as you desperately hold onto its wrist to keeps those claws away from you. Your enhanced strength seems to barely be able to hold the alien's own, and even then it is pushing you inch-by-inch back. The snarling, drooling snout is now front and center for you to witness, as it sprays you with spit and blood.

Those powerful jaws are inches away from your face as they close and snap at you with enough force to shatter your bones even with the suit on. In spite of the intimidating visage and it slowly pushing back, you seem to have it at a slight stalemate in terms of strength. Or you would have, until you see the bottom of the alien's jaw split wide open. As you see this happening, a strange, eerie howl begins to emerge from the alien's now visible throat.

The howl gets sharper, and stronger until your ears are starting to ring from the sheer pitch of it. You almost reel back in pain, but you push through it and keep the alien restrained. Then, as soon as it starts, the howling stops, as the alien's mouth closes and earns a second of silence.

It lasts only a second, as that familiar vicious howl emerges from the alien's fully split jaws and erupts in what you can only describe as a sonic explosion. You don't even have time to react as the blast hits you point blank and blows you away to a splintered tree. Between the tinnitus in your ears, you don't hear the alarm blaring in your suit. Your vision clears after tears of pain leave your eyes, and you see the alien...coughing?

It doesn't last too long however, as it now slowly walk towards you to finish the job.

'No...it's not over...'

'You cheating...motherfucker...', you think to yourself, while an aching, numbing pain covers your body. Whatever that blast was, it has certainly hurt much more than just your ears, as your legs and arms are almost ringing with pain. All the while, the alien walks without much hurry towards you, and shows off its large claws.

This thing knows that you're already dead as is. It's not going to waste the energy to leap for your throat and end you quickly. The alien's hulking form towers over you and you struggle to even lift up your arms. Several hundred pounds of pure muscle and snarling rage reach a claw out for your throat.

'Fuck me...' you think, waiting for the death blow to come. Instead, a sudden yelp from the alien along with several sound whirling chords appear before you. It's netting, from a Y-Gun. You painfully crane your neck to the side and see Haley, standing in defiance against the alien. A look of determination is etched across her face, with her gun and outstretched arms only adding to the sight.

The alien only struggles to get out of the netting, yet you see that there's something about it. The last time an alien had tried doing this, it seemed to have been doing this out of annoyance of being trapped. But this one seemed to be afraid, genuinely yelping and tearing at the netting to try to get out. If you didn't know any better, you'd think this alien may know what was about to come next.

"Don't you dare," she says, never losing her gaze on the alien, "hurt him again. I don't want anything else to die, but I don't want to see him die either."

The alien ignores her, and continues trying to struggle out of the netting. In spite of its initially massive strength, it can't manage to break out of the restraints. It can't even crane its head far enough to bite the netting off.

"You hear me," Haley continues, looking at the alien, "I don't want to do this. I don't know if you can understand, but...I don't want to see anything else die tonight."

"Then...why did you attack us?!" the alien speaks in a guttural drawl, and you and Haley's eyes widen in surprise at it, "We did nothing to you! We were just-"

The alien doesn't finish its sentence as its head explodes into several bloody chunks. Its body remains standing upright however, held up by the netting for all to see. You and Haley are bathed in its red blood, as parts of brain matter splatter on your cheek. This is about all of Haley can take, as you see her retch on the floor, with tears strewn in her eyes. You want to say something, yet not far from sight, you see a refraction of light coming into view, as a male body emerges from it.

"Guess Linda wasn't full of shit," a familiar voice says, as Joshua de-cloaks, "these bastards can talk. Good job by the way guys, set me up for a nice snipe there."

"You were...", you start, pain flaring as much as your anger while you do so, "using us as bait...? You son of a-"

"Well, not at first," Joshua replies, moving over towards Haley, "Linda and those black gentlemen were finishing off the other one, and I figured Oscar and that asian lady could use my help with this guy."

When he arrives to her Haley's side, Joshua waits until she's finished emptying her stomach on the floor. And hes helps Haley up from her retching, crying state and leaves her sitting on the curb. It looks like she's welcoming his help, but the aversion of her eyes from his makes it seems she's only doing so because she knows wouldn't have done it herself. After helping Haley, Joshua turns to you again, standing in an almost imposing manner.

"In all honesty, you both should be thanking me," he continues, in an uncomfortably friendly voice, "with the good timing that I showed up at. If I hadn't come when I did, you both would have ended up like that other kid."

"More like..." you retort, or you would, until your remembered Charlie, "Wait...what happened to Charlie...? Is he...?"

"He's hurt..." Haley chimes in, holding her knees with her arms, "but...I helped to stop the bleeding. Shot off his arm...but...he wasn't waking up...after that..."

"Shame that really," Joshua interjects, then heads over to your side, "But, it is what it is around here, you either get good or die trying. Now, are you two gonna keep moping on the ground or are you going to help me finish this hunt?"

Joshua heads to your side, and extends a hand to help you up. You remember this, it happened during your first hunt as well. At a moment of desperation and near death, you placed your life in the hands of another stranger and you lived. Yet, Joshua is not a stranger anymore, and you weren't gonna die anytime soon.

There was something Joshua told you when you started.

"We're all here for the same goal," he explained to you and Haley after the first hunt ended, "to survive. So, let's do our part in helping each other in that."

This was after Audrey was disemboweled, and he scored a kill against an alien. It was after Jakob was bleeding out, and Joshua killed him in mercy. It was after Juny, his ex-girlfriend died to save him from the boss alien, and he just ran without fighting back.

The alien's headless body stands in testament to his handiwork. The work of a man that served himself, and others he thought were good enough to serve him. It wasn't leadership or bravery, it was all just convenience to him. His creed of commitment to 'his' team.

It was as rotten as he was.

You take a hard look at the hand in front of you, and the faux mention of aid he's trying to provide you with. The ache in your arms and legs remains, pinning you down with pain and numbness. Yet, as the aftermath of the first hunt re-enters your mind a part of you snaps awake. For what seems like minutes in your head, the pain is gone, as is the aching numbness on your extremities.

You twitch part of your leg to test it. You can feel the ground, and how easily you can stand. You don't let the thought linger much longer, as you place your hands on the ground and propel your self up with the force of the suit. Joshua's eyes widen in surprise at your fortitude, but widen further in the split second it takes for your fist to connect to his face.

"YOU BASTARD!!", you shout, the full brunt of the Gantz suit hitting Joshua, and send him him sprawling onto the road, "You think I'm a fucking idiot! You think I can't see you're full of shit!"

You start after his body, your pace increasing as you approach him. This is stopped however, as a tug of force restrains you from behind. You go to push it off, but notice Haley's body is clinging to you with her suit activated. You go to push her off anyways, but she then looks at you with that same tearful expression she had on the ground.

"CHRIS, DON'T!", she shouts to you, not letting go of your back, "Even if he used us, we can't kill him. He's...not worth the time anyways..."

You go to protest, but you soon hear Joshua groaning on the ground. He's not knocked out, but his suit's integrity only protected him so much. You figure he's only stunned for the time being, yet...is otherwise helpless.

"Chris...we have to go," Haley continues, her grip only getting stronger, "If we don't leave...then Charlie could be dead for good. Please...Chris..."

Haley's grip, while enhanced, could easily be broken if you tried. Though her crying pleads make you hesitate more than her enhanced physical strength does.

'Goddamnit...'

Boiling rage is seeping over in you as Joshua's past actions swirl in your head. The first and your arms are visibly shaking from sheer anger and unbridled fury to finish off Joshua.

'One step, to the back of his fucking neck.'

That's all it would take in your mind to get rid of this piece of shit for good. Your head goes through all of the different variations you imagine his neck snapping, yet you're pulled back from that dark area by another tug at your back.

Haley hasn't let go of you since you started your path towards Joshua. She hasn't stopped crying either. You know what you want to do, and how easy it would be to do, yet...you hesitate. The fury in your head is telling you do it, yet this girl, who you could easily brush aside with your suit, is managing to hold you back. Whether it was because of her bravery or stupidity, the anger in your head relents.

You close your eyes, and take deep sigh while taking a last look at Joshua's sprawled body. There's a small flex on your part to throw Haley off, and she lands on the ground below you. She tries to get up to stop you, but you just turn around and walk away. Her eyes don't leave your body as you do, even as you mutter something under your breath.

"That's twice now..." you're sure you're within earshot when the words leave your mouth, "...You're lucky you have an incredible ass, you know that?"

You don't turn around to see if she gets up, but just as quickly head over to where Charlie's body impacted Haley. You hear a set of footsteps behind you as you arrive, but don't find Charlie near what looks like a dented tree.

"I left him near where that car was," Haley says, and you turn around to meet her, "I just wanted to keep him safe. I'm...so sorry..."

It look like she's about to cry again, but surprisingly enough she quickly brushes the tears from her eyes before they fall. You don't wonder long on this as a sudden shout of "Help! Please!" reaches your ears. You and Haley head towards the wreckage of that car, while avoiding the people that now surround it. Upon arriving to the site you find Charlie, slumped against the turned over side door. and an arm reaching out from beneath it.

"Someone please help me!" the shouts continue, but you can tell it is female, "I can hear you! Please, anyone!"

"Shit...", you say, and then motion Haley to the car's side, "we'll help, just keep focusing on not dying. Haley, on my count."

She nods, and on the count of 3, you lift up part of the sedan, and Lei crawls out of the wreckage. After putting the car back down, you notice a gash on her right shoulder, probably form a sharp portion of the car.

"Thank you..." she says, a look of fear still on her face, "Oh god...it was awfull...Oscar...that thing...it..."

"Wait," you say, furrowing your brows and coming close as you do, "What happened to Oscar? Did that thing-"

"It tore him apart!" she shouts, a whimper of fear leaving her lips, "He tried to protect me...he told me that...Joshua was right behind us. But...he never came...and that thing...it..."

Haley comes up to Lei and offers a hug of consolation for what happened. Lei doesn't return it, but nonetheless rests her head on Haley's shoulder. You shake your head, and look at the ground in abject silence. Oscar always seemed like one of those guys that looked and acted invisible, yet for him to die is almost unnerving to you.

Your gaze eventually lifts and it falls on Charlie on the side of the car. His eyes are closed, and it seems that while his breath is shallow, he is more or less alive. It's at least something to keep Haley from losing it more, yet a bit of relief also washes over you as you confirm his state.

"Wait...there's more though," Lei continues, her breath and voice evening a little as she interrupts your thought, "Linda and the others are still fighting the other one. We split up to keep them separated...but they still haven't come back..."

"Only one thing to do then," you say, handing over your strapped X-Gun, "Take this, we're finishing these things off. Where did you last see them?"

"We found them in a house," Lei replies, pulling herself away from Haley and trying to get up, "Last I saw it, they were heading to the forest. Oscar...and myself headed this one."

"Are you sure you can walk?" Haley asks, trying to have her hold onto her shoulder, "We can always just come back for you after we get done."

You head over to Charlie's body, and start up the radar. Thankfully, the alien only tore up his right arm so the radar remains intact, if a bit bloody. You start up the map, and zoom out to see the forest in the southern portion. Sure enough, there's...only 4 dots there now...

'Shit...' you think, getting up from Charlie and look to the hill road from whence you came, 'Linda you'd better still be alive when we get there...'

"Lei, we need to leave right now," you state, and the pointing to Charlie, "If you can't move that much, then at least keep him safe. Meet us in the forest when you can."

You motion to Haley to move from the car, and she begrudgingly does so. If you wait anymore time for Lei or Haley to come around, your chances at ending this could be over. You can't see it, but you feel a slight discomfort in her as she heads to your side again.

"Wait, you're not actually going in there right?!" Lei almost shouts, and you turn you head back in response, "They can see in the dark! And Linda said there were more of them in the forest...we should just leave or..."

"I don't know if Joshua explained," you start, point to your head, "but there's an explosive in each of our heads if we leave the area. Accept that fact and help us, or you can just wait for the time to run out. Take your pick, but I know what I am doing right now."

You don't wait for her to respond and start making your way down the hilly road to the forest. Haley is close behind you, though you notice her turning her head back at Lei and Charlie one last time. You want to almost shout at her for to keep her focus on her suit, but you stop that train of thought. The girl is too soft for the game, can't kill, and doesn't really aim that well but...even with all of that she still saved your life. You don't understand what that means in the scope of things to come, but...you figure you owe her a little bit at least.

Without Charlie's halfway use of his suit, you and Haley make it to the edge of the forest in little time. While the crowds of passerbys and civilians were beginning to congregate around the site of your battle, the suit made the travel much easier with a few jumps between rooftops to avoid the growing crowd. You hoped that you remembered the alien's locations correctly as you stepped into the forest again. Though, not a few steps forward into the forest, Haley nudges your arm.

"Chris, are you sure we should attack?" she says, while aiming her Y-Gun around the area, "We don't even know where that thing is...we could be walking right into a trap..."

"The radar showed 4 things in the forest," you state, raising your X-Rifle to see with its scope, "If those kids are still here, then that means either Linda or the alien are still alive. And if one of the group is still alive then we have to help them end this."

"Chris," Haley continues, her steps stopping alongside yours as you reach the stream, "You're sounding almost like...a leader right now. But..why now?"

You think for a second on this while you overlook the stream. Up until now, you only really cared about yourself or understood only yourself. And while you don't understand, or are close to Haley or Charlie, you can't help but care a little about them. Maybe it was how horrible the night had gone. Maybe it was the initial harrowing in the Gantz room. Maybe it was just Joshua, showing how much of a horrible person he really was deep down.

Either way, your reply never comes as the sound of footsteps and loud panting approach from the other side of the stream. You and Haley go to hide behind the trees until you realize who that shape is. Linda is haggardly makes her way towards your side. One of her arms is gone, but she's desperately clutching her X-Rifle with her remaining one.

"Holy shit," she says as she notices you and Haley, "get to cover! It's right behind me!"

As she passes the stream however, her footing gives out as her boot slips on a water-slick rock and she falls on her back on it. She's trying to get up but given her injury, doing it with one arm is not going to be easy even for her. Haley is looking over to her as you suddenly hear the sound of leaves and trees beginning to stir on the other side of the stream.

"Shit..." you say under your breath, and start making your way to the stream, "Haley, take her back! I've got this one."

She nods in agreement, though you can see a tinge of worry in her eyes as heads to the stream right behind you. The rocks certainly are slick with water, yet you find your foothold near Linda and aim your sights down your scope into the forest. Meanwhile, Haley helps up a struggling and groaning Linda, and begins moving to the cover on the other side.

"Chris, goddamnit," Linda remarks, as Haley carries her away, "it's after me! Don't be a damn hero you little shit!"

"Take the help and shut your mouth Linda," you shout back, aiming into the forest as the trees rustle closer. From the distance of the rustling, you imagine it's probably even a few yards away from you now. Though, your scope is not making out anything in the trees themselves besides some of the leaves falling. Whatever the hell is up there is either moving really fast, or doing something to avoid the scope's scanner.

Whatever the hell it is doing, it is closing the distance the distance quickly, as the trees you see rustling are now almost to the stream itself. You keep your eyes on the scope and aim at the nearest rustling treetop, yet only catch the falling of leaves. Your heart starts to pound, as adrenaline surges through you as you quicken your scanning of the treeline, as the alien seems to at the other side of the stream.

The scanning stops however, as the movement eventually halts along with the falling of leaves. You carefully scan over all of the nearby trees, and hope to god that Haley and Linda are to the other side by now. The thought is gone the moment heavy movement from a tree near the nothern part of the stream, erupts with falling leaves.

You turn your scope, to see the form of a massive feline-like creature leap from the canopy and right at you.

'Fuck...'

<FAILURE>
-1 AGR <BLEEDING OUT ROLL WILL in 5 Turns>

The aliens' form comes diving from the air at breakneck speed, aiming right for your neck with its long claws. You don't have much time to think, and you take a brisk tilting dodge to make up for the alien's speed. Your reaction time is on point however, as the alien's claws don't strike its target.

It does however slash right into your shoulder, leaving three massive slashing wounds on it. The warm feeling of blood starts almost pouring from your shoulder, and the alien lands with appropriate cat-like grace. In the second you're clutching your shoulder in pain, you get a glimpse of its felyne form.

Unlike the dog, this one is more slick and fluid in its body-shape. It is nonetheless muscular, but it almost appears feminine in its appearance given the slightly wider hips and a perky tits attached rigidly to its chest and...parts of its stomach. The sight surprises you too much to react as the alien delivers a solid kick to your chest that almost knocks the wind off you and sends you sprawling into the stream's water.

The cold lapping of the water and the dirt flakes in the stream causes you to wince in pain as your open wound continues to drop blood. The alien doesn't waste any time for you to get up as it quickly leaps to its feet and lifts another one of its claws to finish the job. You notice however, a familiar twitch in its ears and it leaps back away from you in a graceful somersault.

You catch sight of a light in the distance, an X-rifle going off, as a blast erupts right above you. You don't see who made it, but the alien adopts a predatory stance right at it. Then, you see its eyes glow, with what you can only assume is night vision, straight at the other side of the stream.

'You bitch...' you think to yourself, raising your rifle while she's distracted, 'You're gonna regret that shit!'

<SUCCESS> <BLEEDING OUT. WILL SAVE in 4 TURNS>

Even with just one arm, you manage to draw your rifle at the alien. It's glowing green eyes only serve to illuminate its position and allow you to draw a bead on it. It doesn't wait too long however, and takes a running start on all fours at the other side of the stream. Even with its eyes servings as a target light, its speed makes it almost impossible to aim at effectively.

That is until a blast from the other side erupts under its paws. The alien reflectively jumps to avoid it, yet the blast only seems to have hit the water beneath it. With its forward gait unbalanced, you take aim at the alien in that second it tries to deftly land on the ground. Its ears twitch, but it dodges far too late as a blast from your X-Rifle takes off one of its arms. The alien shouts a horrific sound, almost like a woman's scream into the night.

Yet, instead of running back to the other side, it instead takes a running start towards you. You try to shoot it down while it is running but the alien's caught wind of you tricks now. Another set of explosions light up the forest, but the alien just leaps head of them and right behind you. You try to get up to strike it down, but with one arm you're almost no match for it as it just trips you once again.

This time however, you feel several sharp points on your neck. The alien has you by the neck, and it is trying to use you as a meat-shield against the others. However, the thing that comes next only serves to surprise you even further.

"I don't wish to kill anymore of you," a feminine, yet guttural voice sounds from the alien, "Let me and the children go, and I promise he'll live. You have 10 seconds to comply."

'Comply this you bitch.'

<SUCCESS> <BLEEDING OUT WIL SAVE in 3 TURNS>

"10!"

With the amount of blood seeping from your left arm, you are starting to lose the feeling in it.

"9!"

It pools around you with a scary amount of volume, yet only the pain is holding you back from using against this alien.

"8!"

So, you do the next best thing to free yourself, you use your head.

"7!"

Enhancing the muscular ligaments on your neck, you adjust your head forward slightly so as to not make the claws touch your neck any further.

"6!"

The suit expands your muscles, and the alien's claws start pressing a little closer.

"5!"

You give a look to the other side, and see that the firing hasn't continued since it got a hold you.

"4!"

Whether that's Haley holding back Linda, or her trying to hold herself back, it's probably not helping things out right now.

"3!"

Either way, you position your head to the center, aiming to her chin with center mass.

"2!"

You tilt your head forward.

"1!"

"WAIT!" Haley shouts, jumping from the other side, "We'll cooperate, please just-"

It's all the opening you need. As the alien is distracted by the sudden outburst, you strike her snout and chin with a bone breaking amount force from your neck. The alien reels back with another scream of pain. You quickly turn to retaliate but another swift paw knocks the X-Rifle straight from your hands. This time however, you can see the alien's snout caved in slightly, with blood seeping from its now broken jaw. It tries to get up to run away before a blast explodes its left leg off.

The scream of pain is soon followed by the sound of a loud thump hitting the forest floor. A familiar sight materializes right behind you again.

"I suggest you move Chris," Joshua states, cocking his X-Rifle at the alien, "Otherwise I might miss and hit you. Though, given this night I wouldn't much mind tha-"

Joshua is interrupted by a horrific scream, yet much more high pitched, as a small figure takes a running leap right for him. It's one the children, the little girl, yet her body is a feline like the other alien. Joshua shouts in pain and anger, as he tries to pry the small alien off of himself. You don't have much time to react as another small figure leaps towards you as well. This one is much more canine in appearance as it tries to snap and bite at your face.

<BARE SUCCESS>

The kid is snapping at you with a surprising amount of strength and ferocity, yet it only manages to annoy you rather than hurt you. Its claws try to dig into your suit, yet they only come off as pinpricks when you bulk up to get him off of you. You grab its mane of hair with your available hand and you pull it kicking and screaming off of yourself. It continues to make a fuss as you hold it by the neck, trying its best to get your hand off, but you just toss him to the stream with a yelp.

"You little BITCH!", Joshua shouts next to you, and you see him struggling to get the other alien off of himself. Whatever this one is doing, it is managing to hold on for dear life against Joshua, even with his suit's strength trying to get her off.

You almost laugh at how pathetic he seems right now, until the little dog alien decides to come at you for seconds. In spite of its bruising and small trickle of blood coming from its mouth, it is still going strong. This time you see its mouth open in a similar way to the other one, as it leaps right at you.

'Not this time you bastard,' you say, readying a kick to its face.

"Chris!" Haley shouts, running down and aiming her Y-gun at the smaller alien. Haley comes down to the stream to try and help you but a blinding green light soon cuts through the night air. In the split second you kicked the little wolf alien away, Haley's midsection is struck by what you can only describe as thin lasers. The trajectory of their flights leads them right back to the alien mother, her eyes glowing with green.

'It...wasn't night..vision...?'

<BLEEDING OUT WIL SAVE in 2 TURNS>

Haley's form falls limply to the ground, while the smaller wolf alien's own just falls to the other side. A small pain begins to build up in your gut as Haley's body convulses with pain on the floor. You turn your head to the alien mother, and see that it is about to shoot again, until its head is blasted off of its shoulders. You turn your head around the bend, to see Charlie and Lei, the latter with an X-Gun extended in her hands.

"Holy shit," Charlie states, looking over to your now kneeling form, "Haley! Is she..."

"She's not dead damnit!", you say, looking at the bleeding incisions in her abdomen, "You hear me Haley, don't you fucking die damnit!"

Haley's convulsing body only stops as you try to cradle her in your arms. It soon turns to panting as the others come closer to help you prop her up.

"Chris..." she starts, you can clearly see she's in horrific pain as she says this, "I'm sorry...I...only...tried to..."

"I SAID GET OFF!" Joshua shouts, now holding the struggling cat alien by the throat, "YOU LITTLE CUNT!"

In spite of being chocked, the little alien continues to try and claw at Joshua, though the look on his face doesn't seem to abide anymore bravery. With one swift motion, he snaps her neck and the alien's struggling stops. With another motion, he tosses her body aside to the forest and heads over to you.

"Hey Chris!" he shouts, trying to get your attention, "There's still one more over there. I'll let by-gones be by-gones for the night, if you can follow through on one more order for me: finish off that little alien."

"Chris...don't..." Haley says weakly, looking over to you, "You're...not like him...You are..."

"You hear that Chris?" Joshua shouts interrupting Haley, "That's the sound of her dying in your fucking arms like a damn Hollywood cliche. Here's an idea though, end the hunt so you can save her life. It'll be about the only thing you'll do right this whole night."

You take your eyes off of Haley, and towards Joshua. There's a look of hatred burning in them right now, trying to bore holes right into Joshua. Yet, your gaze falls right on the little dog alien. It is beaten, haggard, and now lying on its mother's corpse trying desperately to cling to its fur. Your anger doesn't reside for one bit however.

<BLEEDING OUT WIL SAVE in 1 TURN>

"No," you say, your face returning to Joshua's own, "Go ahead and do it your damn self Joshua. I am done listening to you."

"Excuse me," he replies, very much sarcastically, "I don't think I heard you correctly. Because it sounded like you said 'No' once again."

"You heard me," you retort, anger coming from you eyes, "I am not doing your dirty work again you asshole! So, get your damn points and finish this already!"

Joshua looks at you, this time with an equal expression of hatred. The others look at him as well, but only seem to remain at an arm's length if he tries something. For a few seconds, everyone is silent, until Joshua extends his arm with the X-Rifle right at the little dog alien.

"Defiant," he says, and lets loose a shot at the dog alien, "so goddamn defiant. All the way to the fucking end."

There is a terrifying silence in the forest, and then a sudden wet splat on the ground as the little dog alien's body is blown to pieces by the blast. Joshua's gaze never leaves your own as this all occurs. It is only a slight choking sound from Haley that alerts your presence away. Her face is getting pale, and her body is growing cold by the second.

"It must have pierced her lung," Lei says, approaching closer with Charlie, "If it's bleeding that bad...then...she may only have-"

"Shut up damnit!" you shout back at Lei, and she only looks sadly at you, "She's going to live. You hear me Haley, don't you dare die damnit!"

Haley's choking only stops for a brief moment, as she stares right at you. She weakly lifts one of her hands right to face, but her hand just falls from your cheek. As soon as this occurs, a beam from the sky erupts in the night air, and you feel a familiar tingling in the back of your head.

'No, not NOW you faggot ass ball!'

"Chris...", Haley's mouth says weakly, and you barely hear the next words, "I...-"

Gantz's laser teleports the rest of your senses away before you can hear her finish the sentence.

<Continued>
>>
>>2562097
<Continued>

Your body retains its kneeling position as it returns to the room. The wound in your shoulder is gone, along with the rips and tears on your suit you suffered during the hunt. In spite of this, only a portion of Haley's words came back with you.

It wouldn't matter however, as in a few minutes Haley would return to the room along with everyone else. You got up, and went to your regular wall near the door to wait for the others to return. Linda came first, stretching out her arm to make up for its loss and sighing as she looked at you. There were no words exchanged, as Lei arrived next.

She only looked solemnly at you as you stared confusedly at her while this happened. She didn't utter a word, not even as Charlie arrived. He came up to you and almost hugged you, until you just told him to save it after Gantz let you out. He nodded, and leaned on the wall alongside you.

Not long afterwards, Joshua arrived with a look of calm and collection as he only glanced in your direction before joining Linda near the door where they always stood. You stared daggers at him the whole way through, yet he never met your gaze throughout it. The odd silence doesn't last forever, as a familiar whirring noise comes from Gantz.

'Alright, here she comes.'

<00:25:20>

'Wait...what...?'

You stare dumbfounded at Gantz, as the messages continue to drop.

<@1ri6ht, h3r3'5 j33r 5c0r35.>

'Wait...but...'

<The Wicked Witch of the East Coast - 0 Points - Only 32 more points to go! - Look before you leap, you cunt.>

'Where is...'

<Charlie the Angel - 15 Points - Only 85 more points to go! - Cost an arm and a leg. ammirite? LOL>

'Haley...?'

<Lord Christopher - 0 Points - Only 75 more points to go! - Wow, not a single kill. What a pussy.>

"No..." you drop to your knees at the realization, "Haley is..."

<Snake & Josh - 21 Points - Only -1 more point to go! - Nice killsteals, nubcake.>

The other just hang their heads, proving your worst assumptions. You almost drop to your knees again, a dull unknown pain hitting your stomach as this happens. Charlie only manages to keep from bending over. A sorrowful gasp escapes from your lips, yet it is drowned out by Joshua's footsteps as he approaches the Gantz ball.

<CONGRATULATIONS SNAKE & JOSH! YOU GOT 100 POINTS! EXTRA MENU UNLOCKED>

The extra menu opens up in a slight fanfare as Joshua reviews his three choices. As he does so, Linda comes right behind him and gives him a pat on the back.

"You did it Joshua," Linda says, looking over him, "it took us about four of these damn things, but you did it. Now, let's get Oscar back and we can-"

"I think not," Joshua says, as Linda's eyes widen in shock at his choice, "I've had enough of this room, of the aliens, of everything having to do with this game. Never planned on staying fro the beginning honestly."

On the ball's screen, Joshua reveals his choice: to leave and have his mind wiped.

<Continued>
>>
>>2562223

"You're doing what?!" Linda shouts, and grabs Joshua by the neck and holding him aloft, "You said we were in this together you bastard! I'm not letting you leave now, not when you have a life to own up to damnit!"

Everyone else, including yourself just stare at the sight laid before you. Joshua's own suit only activates at the neck to keep his throat from being crushed, but he otherwise looks calm at this. It is the opposite of Linda's own expression, showing only anger and hatred for the man now in her arms.

"I suggest you put me down," he says, quite calmly, "The decision has already been made. And Gantz doesn't like it when people interfere with this kind of decision."

"Fuck you!" Linda replies, only shaking him as she does so, "You're a damn traitor! You think Gantz is going to teleport you out with me still holding onto you?! I'm never letting go you piece of shit!"

A sudden whirr emerges from Gantz, and Joshua's eyes turn to the screen, along with everyone else.

<00:00:03>

"I would let go now if I were you."

<00:00:02>

"Joshua, what the hell is-"

<00:00:01>

"Linda!" you shout in realization, as the countdown hits zero and a loud beep sounds off from Linda's direction. Linda's head explodes in a brutal display of blood and brain matter, splattering you and everyone else with her vital fluid. You stare dumbfoundedly at Linda's headless body as it tumbles limply to the ground. Lei screams at the top of her lungs and Charlie is too shocked to even say anything.

"I told you to let go," Joshua chuckles, in that same irritating, sarcastic tone of his, "I didn't want this to happen you know."

'You remorseless motherfu-'

You see red and instantly activate your suit to charge at Joshua as he chuckles to himself. Charlie however holds you back, having activated his suit, but you're only stopped once Lei joins in too. Meanwhile, Joshua just looks at the spectacle before him and smiles at your efforts.

"Be careful Chris," he chides, look at you straight in the eyes, "I told you that little attitude of yours would get someone killed. And look where we are right now!"

"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" you shout with indignant rage at him, "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! HALEY, OSCAR, THE NEW GUYS! EVERYTHING IS YOUR FUCKING FAULT!"

"Is it now?" he replies back, heading over to Gantz, "Are you sure it wasn't this that caused you all of this pain? The ball and all of its little machinations?"

"YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT I MEAN!" you continue your tirade, "STOP TRYING TO DODGE RESPONSIBILITY! YOU WERE NEVER A LEADER YOU SHIT!"

"Be that as it may," he retorts, then sticks his hand into Gantz's opening, "It won't matter in a few months or so. I may as well enjoy my time without this game before the end of the world."

"Wait," Charlie chimes in, "what do you mean by 'end of the world'? Is Gantz behind this or-?"

"Hey don't take my word for it," he says, messing with it a little more, and Gantz's laser starts teleporting him away, "Just let Gantz fill you in. It won't matter anyways, none of this matters."

'You motherfuc-'

You snap at the last part of his statement, and you throw the others off of you as you charge straight for Joshua. Yet you only meet the wall, as his body has already faded away. In your fit of rage, you look around for Joshua, slam into the hallway, and start bring behind Gantz to find him. You would have gone on, had Charlie not stopped you.

He held you back a little stating that, he was already gone. At the instant, the bloody haze in your mind fades, and only an empty, painful feeling surges in your stomach. Linda, Oscar, the new guys and Haley were gone, and their killer just ran away scott-free. The realization almost causes you heave acid on the floor, to which Charlie again hold you back against. The only thing you do, is slam your fists on the floor and let out a pained groan from your throat. For the first time in a very long time, you actually cried that night.

"We'll get them back..." he says, and you slowly turn your head to him, "I know we will...someday."

"Hey guys," Lei states, looking over to you guys, "sorry for the bad timing, but...you both should see this."

You and Charlie look over to Gant's screen and see a familiar, yet different time on the screen.

<154 Days : 23 Hours : 21 Min : 34 Seconds>

'It doesn't matter...none of this...matters...'

<April 24th, Tuesday 12:01 AM>

You laid in your bed, looking through your phone's gallery for some good nudes. Your dad always bought you the biggest memory for your phones, so you never ran low. Yet, in between looking for nudes you stumbled across a familiar picture. Of you, and a brunette girl taking a selfie outside of a school gate.

It was a picture of a girl that was bullied. A girl you inadvertently saved, just because you didn't like the guy bullying her. It wasn't out of love or kindness, just teenage adversity. But she thanked you for it regardless. That girl was on the news that weekend, said to have jumped off the roof of an apartment complex and miraculously survived.

You saw her that weekend as well, and spent the night together in a mall after hours. There were other people there, which only a few you would see again. That was the next weekend though, when you all went to the woods. It was a strange night, you only remember so much from it. But you do remember that...you never saw that girl again.

You turn your phone off, and head to bed. It wasn't a memory you liked to remember anyways.

I would first like to say, thank you to all the anons that showed up for these sessions. It has helped me determine how to move forward with the quest better and try out the new system. Also, kind of sorry for railroading the last portion but I needed to get this done tonight guys, and letting it drag on would have made things more difficult next weekend.

I will have a poll on my twitter if you guys wish to keep the system or not moving forward.

The schedule does not change, as I will only be able to do quest sessions on the weekends. As for when the next one will be, stay tuned this week on my twitter for any updates. I actually don't know if I can do a new session next weekend so, make sure to stay tuned for updates.

Have yourselves a wonderful night /qst/.
